- 0:30I don't know about you, but sometimes life
- 0:32can really make me very tired,
- 0:34especially when
- 0:36I'm only using my thinking mind, and I'm
- 0:39not tapping into the quiet stillness
- 0:42that is always available to me. Sometimes we
- 0:45get so busy,
- 0:47and we get on that hamster wheel that
- 0:49we have no idea
- 0:51how to jump off. And maybe you really
- 0:52don't know how to jump off. And today,
- 0:54I wanna talk about
- 0:56how we can do that because our thinking
- 0:58mind is often trap.
- 1:01It's sometimes referred to as the ego. It
- 1:04doesn't really matter what we call it
- 1:07if you're new to this idea, it's your
- 1:09thinking mind, it's...
- 1:11You can call out your frog in your
- 1:13pocket, whatever you wanna name it. It's the
- 1:15thinking mind created by your identity and your
- 1:18past experience and beliefs.
- 1:20It's made of
- 1:22peers, society.
- 1:24It is the part of your mind that
- 1:26has doubts and speculate on everything.
- 1:30It's driven by fear of being nothing, which
- 1:34tries to alleviate through thoughts about material things,
- 1:38and
- 1:39we can be imprisoned by it, especially when
- 1:42we are unaware that it's even a thing.
- 1:45It causes
- 1:46limited
- 1:47thinking,
- 1:49limitation and our thinking.
- 1:50It operates from fear instead of love, and
- 1:52it holds us back.
- 1:54This
- 1:55frog in our pocket ego, whatever you wanna
- 1:57call it,
- 1:58does this dropping by using our judging mind
- 2:01and resisting,
- 2:03fighting the present moment.
- 2:04It causes negative emotions And when we resist
- 2:08the present moment,
- 2:09we know it because our physical feelings,
- 2:12we start to feel resistance and our hearts
- 2:15and also physically in our bodies.
- 2:17So how do we deal with this? A
- 2:19lot of times we,
- 2:21might be saying to ourselves. I'll be happy
- 2:24when blank. I'll be happy that sometime in
- 2:27the future.
- 2:28When we are not living in the present
- 2:30moment, we often think that we're gonna be
- 2:32happy when, and this is a very
- 2:35common
- 2:36trap, this chasing of the future happiness trap.
- 2:41You know, I'll be happy when the house
- 2:42is built. I'll be happy when the car
- 2:44is fixed, or paid off. I'll be happy
- 2:47when
- 2:48my kid gets the sixth grade. I'll be
- 2:51happy when the house is clean, or you
- 2:53get the idea, but true happiness
- 2:56really has nothing to do with the things
- 2:59happening in our exterior world, but it's... Actually
- 3:02an inside job. And don't get me wrong.
- 3:05I love to have a clean house, and
- 3:08I like when my kid passes sixth grade
- 3:10and it's awesome when that house is built
- 3:12because it frees up a lot of time
- 3:13or whatever you have going on, whatever your
- 3:16thing is, your future happiness trap. Maybe at
- 3:19school. Maybe it's... I don't know. Those stories
- 3:23that we tell ourselves really are not
- 3:26what caused true happiness. True happiness is really
- 3:29only found in the moment that we're in.
- 3:32Our society definitely does not talk about this.
- 3:34This is definitely something that is very opposite
- 3:39of what
- 3:40we see on social media, what we see
- 3:42on the new. And what we hear every
- 3:44single day. This is completely opposite of that.
- 3:482 years ago, my daughter Friend who's had
- 3:51adopted some ducks, but she lived in a
- 3:52dorm, and, of course, they were like, hey,
- 3:55give that to miss Katie.
- 3:56She'll take any...
- 3:58Any animal on. And so I had these
- 4:003 little duckling,
- 4:01and I wanted to keep them safe, so
- 4:03I kept him in a kennel, and
- 4:05when I went to go release some in
- 4:08our pond, they did not wanna go in
- 4:10the beautiful pond, they wanted to stay in
- 4:12the kennel
- 4:14and oftentimes our minds can keep us trapped
- 4:17just like these dogs who had the opportunity
- 4:19to live freely in this pond,
- 4:22They chose not to. They wanted to be
- 4:24trapped in that kennel, which made me sad.
- 4:27I had done it to protect them,
- 4:29but
- 4:30now they live with my chickens and live
- 4:31a great life. They do identify as chickens
- 4:33though.
- 4:34But I say this backstory story just to
- 4:36say that we can often be trapped in
- 4:38our own minds and I'm gonna give some
- 4:41tips on how to quickly
- 4:44remember that we don't have to be trapped
- 4:46in our minds. But... We can use the
- 4:49present moment to deal with this ego
- 4:52that has been built over time.
- 4:56And it's that thinking mind that often causes
- 5:00us to have to stress and anxiety. I
- 5:02came up with some bees. It's
- 5:054 bees to being present. And they all
- 5:09have to do with coming back to the
- 5:10present moment, but these are just some tips
- 5:13on how to do that The first b
- 5:15is to breathe and pause.
- 5:18The second 1 is to be here now.
- 5:22The third is to be okay with what
- 5:24is happening.
- 5:26Love what is
- 5:27even when that's hard.
- 5:29The fourth 1 is to be okay with
- 5:31your wandering mind and to be okay with
- 5:34your thoughts moving around because that's what your
- 5:36mind does.
- 5:37And to not judge that.
- 5:40And if all of that is too much
- 5:41to remember, just say to yourself in this
- 5:44moment, I am okay.
- 5:47The quieter we get in our minds, the
- 5:49more we can
- 5:51hear that inside voice that's still awareness,
- 5:55intuition and our true self
- 5:58under all these loud voices.
- 6:00With practice, this this type of still awareness,
- 6:03can become the predominant voice.
- 6:05This is how we cultivate that still awareness.
- 6:09All misery
- 6:10on the planet arises due to a personalized
- 6:13sense of me and us. This is a
- 6:15quote from Ec toll. It covers up the
- 6:18essence of who we are when we are
- 6:20unaware of that inner essence in the end,
- 6:23we always create misery. It's as simple as
- 6:25that
- 6:26and you don't know who you are, you
- 6:29can create a mind made self called ego
- 6:33as a substitute for the beautiful,
- 6:35divine being that you are. And when we
- 6:38do this, we cling
- 6:39to that fearful and needy self protecting
- 6:43and
- 6:45embracing
- 6:46that false self
- 6:47that becomes your predominantly
- 6:50motivating force.
- 6:52Please remember that you have beauty
- 6:54The easiest fast track to this is coming
- 6:57back
- 6:58to only the moment that you're in and
- 7:00trying to live that 1 moment to the
- 7:04fullest, as best as you can at the
- 7:06time. I hope this helps. I hope together
- 7:08we can plant some seeds of resilience, and
- 7:11joy
- 7:12Have a great day.
