- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to A Peak Inside Gator Football. This is
- 0:02Speaker 1: Allie Peak.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We appreciate PrizePix for sponsoring this video. If you haven't yet,
- 0:07Speaker 2: download the app, play a $ 5 lineup, and use our code.
- 0:10Speaker 1: It's HMA.
- 0:11Speaker 2: If you win, you'll get $ 150 in lineups instantly. And
- 0:13Speaker 2: before I even tell you why South Carolina is more
- 0:16Speaker 2: dangerous than people think, do me a favor and make
- 0:19Speaker 2: sure you're subscribed to this channel. 50% of you that
- 0:21Speaker 2: watch me on a regular basis are not subscribed.
- 0:24Speaker 1: It's free. It takes two seconds.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It's a great way to support the channel. So I'd
- 0:27Speaker 2: appreciate it if you do it right now. Okay, so
- 0:30Speaker 2: I do think South Carolina is a dangerous game for Florida.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It's not because I think South Carolina is suddenly the
- 0:35Speaker 2: best team on Florida's schedule.
- 0:37Speaker 1: They are not.
- 0:37Speaker 2: But Missouri is also not. It's because, you know, I
- 0:41Speaker 2: don't think Florida should be scared of them.
- 0:43Speaker 1: They shouldn't be.
- 0:44Speaker 2: But I just think it's about where it falls. Florida's
- 0:46Speaker 2: coming off an embarrassing loss to Missouri. Texas is waiting
- 0:49Speaker 2: right after this. The fan base is frustrated, and rightfully so.
- 0:53Speaker 2: The players have spent all week answering questions about what
- 0:56Speaker 2: went wrong. And that is exactly the kind of spot
- 0:59Speaker 2: where a team can walk in thinking that.
- 1:01Speaker 1: The hard part's over. It is not.
- 1:03Speaker 2: South Carolina is not going to care about Florida's ranking.
- 1:06Speaker 2: And they don't care that they're 0-3 in the SEC.
- 1:09Speaker 2: They don't care about what happened against Ole Miss. They're
- 1:11Speaker 2: not going to care that Texas is next. They are
- 1:14Speaker 2: going to come into the swamp trying to make Florida uncomfortable.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And if Florida is not mentally ready for that, that
- 1:20Speaker 2: can become a much tougher game than I think people
- 1:22Speaker 2: maybe expect.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I hate the phrase trap game. because I think it
- 1:26Speaker 1: gets overused.
- 1:27Speaker 2: We talked about last week was Missouri a trap game
- 1:30Speaker 2: after Florida's emotional win against Ole Miss. I think we're
- 1:33Speaker 2: seeing across the conference this year that trap games are
- 1:36Speaker 2: kind of a real thing, even though we hate the
- 1:39Speaker 2: term and it gets used a lot. Think about the
- 1:41Speaker 2: emotional letdowns that have happened for so many teams across
- 1:45Speaker 2: the country so far.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It's happened for Ole Miss.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I think it happened for Mississippi State.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It's happened for Florida.
- 1:51Speaker 2: It happens across the conference, and it's because there's so
- 1:55Speaker 2: much parity. But I do think if there was ever
- 1:57Speaker 2: a week where this trap game moniker applies, this is
- 2:01Speaker 2: probably pretty close to it. Florida's coming off a loss
- 2:04Speaker 2: that took a lot out of them emotionally. Now everybody
- 2:07Speaker 2: is talking about response and leadership and discipline and whether
- 2:10Speaker 2: they were exposed. And then sitting right behind South Carolina
- 2:14Speaker 2: is Texas. And that's a recipe for disaster. And South
- 2:17Speaker 2: Carolina has nothing to lose. That makes them dangerous. When
- 2:20Speaker 2: you are a team expected to win, the pressure's on you.
- 2:23Speaker 2: South Carolina can come in aggressive. They can take chances.
- 2:26Speaker 1: They can play loose. Florida can't. Florida has to be
- 2:29Speaker 1: sharp from opening kick.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Now, I don't think that they can expect coming home
- 2:34Speaker 2: to the swamp will fix everything either.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I do think coming home helps.
- 2:37Speaker 2: There's no doubt about that. The swamp can change a game.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We saw it against Ole Miss. But the crowd can't block.
- 2:43Speaker 2: The crowd can't tackle. And the crowd can't fix penalties.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And the crowd can't make halftime adjustments. Florida has to
- 2:49Speaker 2: do that. And I think that there is a danger
- 2:51Speaker 2: after a road loss of assuming everything gets easier when
- 2:54Speaker 2: you come home.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It doesn't. The environment helps.
- 2:57Speaker 2: But if Florida plays sloppy football, South Carolina can still
- 3:00Speaker 2: punish them. And it is in front of all of
- 3:03Speaker 2: your fans. So, you know, people watched it on TV.
- 3:05Speaker 2: A small amount of people traveled there. Imagine 90,000 of
- 3:09Speaker 2: your most diehard.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Fans watching you not play well. It's not good.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And South Carolina will try to copy what Missouri did.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And that's one of the things I'm going to watch.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Every coach in America does this. If somebody puts something
- 3:22Speaker 2: on film that works, the next opponent tries to test it. Hey,
- 3:25Speaker 2: did they fix it or does it still work? Missouri
- 3:27Speaker 2: found ways to disrupt Florida up front.
- 3:29Speaker 1: They got penetration.
- 3:30Speaker 2: They made Florida play behind the chains. They found success
- 3:33Speaker 2: running the football. So why would South Carolina not try
- 3:36Speaker 2: the same thing? Florida's going to see some version of
- 3:39Speaker 2: what hurt them last week. That is almost guaranteed. And
- 3:43Speaker 2: this is where the game gets interesting. Florida now knows
- 3:45Speaker 2: what is coming, so there aren't any excuses. If South
- 3:48Speaker 2: Carolina is able to exploit the same weaknesses that Missouri did,
- 3:51Speaker 2: then those are not one-week problems anymore.
- 3:54Speaker 1: They are real issues. I'm going to take a.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Quick break from this video to tell you guys about
- 3:59Speaker 2: something really exciting. We are now available on Spotify and
- 4:02Speaker 2: Apple Podcast. You have asked for an audio option we
- 4:05Speaker 2: are trying to deliver. If there's an audio platform we're
- 4:08Speaker 2: not on that you think we should be on, let
- 4:09Speaker 2: me know down in the comments and I'll see what
- 4:10Speaker 2: I can do to get on there.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But this should make it easier for you guys to, you.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Know, listen at work or stack podcasts back to back
- 4:17Speaker 2: to back and listen on your way to Gainesville on
- 4:20Speaker 2: Saturdays if that's what you choose to do or make
- 4:22Speaker 2: it a little bit easier to listen on the go
- 4:24Speaker 2: if you're running or you're at the gym or one
- 4:27Speaker 2: of those things I don't do. But anyway, let us
- 4:29Speaker 2: know if there's another audio platform we should be on.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Thanks for reaching out and telling us what we could
- 4:34Speaker 2: do differently. We appreciate your support across all of our platforms.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I do think this is a game where Florida needs
- 4:41Speaker 2: a good start, not because they have to score 21
- 4:43Speaker 2: points in the first quarter, but because they need to
- 4:46Speaker 2: settle themselves, get the run game going, get the defense
- 4:48Speaker 2: off the field, make.
- 4:49Speaker 1: A few clean plays, build some confidence.
- 4:52Speaker 2: If Florida comes out slow and South Carolina grabs an
- 4:54Speaker 2: early lead, the whole stadium gets tense. Now every mistake
- 4:57Speaker 2: feels bigger. Every third down feels bigger. The offense starts pressing.
- 5:01Speaker 2: This is what Florida needs to avoid. Start clean, start physical,
- 5:05Speaker 2: make South Carolina feel like they are playing and In Gainesville, Florida,
- 5:09Speaker 2: the hardest place in the country to play. And don't
- 5:13Speaker 2: let this become an emotional game. I think that's another thing.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Florida has to be disciplined. South Carolina is going to talk.
- 5:19Speaker 2: They are going to hit. They are going to try
- 5:20Speaker 2: to make the game uncomfortable. Florida can't get sucked into that, though.
- 5:23Speaker 2: No personal fouls, no dumb penalties, no retaliation, no letting
- 5:27Speaker 2: one bad call turn into two bad plays. That's where
- 5:31Speaker 2: maturity matters. After Missouri, Florida does not need more emotion.
- 5:36Speaker 2: They need more control. And the offensive line has to
- 5:40Speaker 2: set the tone. I think that's where the game starts.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Florida needs to come out and establish the run. Make
- 5:44Speaker 2: South Carolina defend Jaden Baugh. Make the offense, you know,
- 5:47Speaker 2: reestablish itself. Let Aaron Filo play on schedule. If Florida
- 5:51Speaker 2: can do that, the game becomes much easier. If the
- 5:54Speaker 2: offensive line struggles, now South Carolina can heat Filo up.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Florida is in third and long. Now you start getting
- 6:00Speaker 2: the same problems you had at Missouri. That's why I
- 6:02Speaker 2: keep coming back to the line of scrimmage. Florida can't
- 6:05Speaker 2: let South Carolina dictate the game there. And I think
- 6:08Speaker 2: the defense has to prove that it learned something. Think
- 6:12Speaker 2: about the other side of this. I want to see
- 6:13Speaker 2: how Florida adjusts, how quickly. If South Carolina finds something
- 6:18Speaker 2: that works, does Florida then go ahead and fix that
- 6:20Speaker 2: right then? Is there halftime adjustments? I think that was
- 6:22Speaker 2: one of the more frustrating parts of the Missouri game.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Missouri found answers, but Florida didn't find any after that.
- 6:28Speaker 2: We didn't adjust to their adjustments. That can't happen again.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Good defenses get hit. Great defenses respond. This week, I
- 6:35Speaker 2: need to see Florida respond. And This should be obvious,
- 6:39Speaker 2: but I'm going to state it anyway. Texas can wait.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Florida has enough problems to solve right now. South Carolina
- 6:44Speaker 2: is the only game that matters this week. And I
- 6:46Speaker 2: think that has to be the mentality inside the building.
- 6:49Speaker 2: If Florida starts thinking about Texas before South Carolina is finished,
- 6:52Speaker 2: they are asking for trouble. The SEC punishes teams for
- 6:56Speaker 2: that fast. And I do think that this game is
- 7:00Speaker 2: going to tell us if Missouri was a blip. That's
- 7:02Speaker 2: why I think it's more important than it looks. If
- 7:05Speaker 2: Florida wins comfortably and they play clean football and they
- 7:07Speaker 2: look like a team that we saw earlier in the season,
- 7:10Speaker 2: then Missouri starts to feel like it was just a
- 7:11Speaker 2: bad day. If Florida struggles early, then we have a
- 7:14Speaker 2: different conversation. If the offensive line gets pushed around again,
- 7:18Speaker 2: if the defense misses tackles again, if the penalties continue,
- 7:20Speaker 2: if Florida looks flat, then Missouri wasn't just a bad game.
- 7:24Speaker 1: It was a warning sign.
- 7:26Speaker 2: And that's what makes this game interesting.
- 7:28Speaker 1: South Carolina is not the biggest name on Florida's schedule. It,
- 7:32Speaker 1: Maybe one of the most revealing games of the season though.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Florida is coming off its first real punch in the mouth.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Now they have to prove they can respond.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Not excuses, not looking ahead, not assuming that like the
- 7:41Speaker 2: home crowd at the swamp is going to save them.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Just play better football, be physical, be disciplined, run the ball, tackle, adjust,
- 7:48Speaker 2: and handle business. Because South Carolina is dangerous for multitude
- 7:54Speaker 2: of reasons. But above anything else, it's because Florida has
- 8:00Speaker 2: a lot to lose If it's not ready for Saturday,
- 8:05Speaker 2: what do you guys think? Is Florida going to be
- 8:07Speaker 2: ready for Saturday? What's the one thing that you think
- 8:09Speaker 2: they can fix quickly to help turn this thing around? Again,
- 8:12Speaker 2: we're sitting at four and one, so I don't want
- 8:14Speaker 2: it to be like the sky is falling, but we
- 8:16Speaker 2: need to play better football on Saturdays. Let me know
- 8:18Speaker 2: down in the comments. Big thank you to our partners
- 8:20Speaker 2: over at PrizePix. Don't forget, download the app. If you
