- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: What is a movie that recently came out that you look forward to watching?
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really have any kept up with like movie releases.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: I know you've been saying you want to go to the movies.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I really want to go to the movies.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: The last movie we went to was sinners.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I enjoyed it.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was good.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: My take on it right after watching it wasn't the greatest because it was a judge that prematurely.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I definitely need to go rewatch that, but the movie I look forward to watching is weapons.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: The one with the kids?
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I only sense like scary movies.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: I want to watch that with somebody.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: We should, I mean, we got too much going on.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of people who are not into scary moves at all.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: I like to see it.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like we should watch that together, but we just don't have time right now.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, no, I definitely, I think the fall, like when we come back from our trip, it's going to be cozy.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's time to go to the movies.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like go on in the movies, it's definitely much more to me, like, a winter cold weather.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, in the summertime, I'm just like, I'm trying to be outside.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: Why am I going in a dark room?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, next question, have your parents applied pressure on you as kids and what emotions do you have around it?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: Pressure as kids.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: My dad put a little bit of pressure on me to be the best man I can be.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: Fairly.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: Fairly, pressure.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was a lot of manners.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was a lot of thing with me was a lot of respect things.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: There was no pressure to become a doctor.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: There was no pressure to do any of those things.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: They kind of let me find my way.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: But it was a lot of pressure to be very respectful to say, thank you, yes, ma'am, no, ma'am.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Say thank you, my people give you things, say for me.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: I grew up speaking French, so there was no yes, sir, yes, ma'am.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: It was just... Oh, you said.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Ma'am, Monsieur?
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Merci.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: Bocou?
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was a pleasure.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: I would say for me, I had... I didn't have...
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: Not that my parents didn't care about us being polite, but I don't have a, I don't recollect my memory to be that that was a huge emphasis.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: Was there anything?
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: Well, obviously they wanted you to be polite, but it wasn't like strictly like say thank you.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but like was there ever a time that you remember in your life for your parents told you like, don't say that.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's a bad word.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, of course.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, I've been slapped a few times for saying some bad.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: So how come you still say all those bad words?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, um, but I was gonna say I felt more I only said that because to me you was like I could not swear Yeah, that's something my parents were little but in general like like I still never said It's a little didn't swear.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: Did they?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, I know.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, see my parents were that was not finding a household at all Like not even from them
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Not even from them.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: I never even heard them swear.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: And they never heard us where maybe now in a podcast is my mom listens.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: No, I definitely heard many people swear many people.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: No, in my family, but I would say for me was like less so when I was younger, but definitely once I got older for me, what I felt pressure with was when I was dancing ballet.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Pressuring me and waiting on me to like be done with that life and figure out my life like go to college all these things because he didn't see a future in my dream.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: So in that sense, I always kind of felt this like pressure and expectation that he had for me and it was it was pretty tough and I definitely think it kind of.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Influenced our relationship a little bit at that time and I've kind of been working on.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: on like going past that because, well, yeah, especially since I think it was like, it was ballet and then after that, I went to college with an end that I'm doing like communication where he's like, what do you even do with communication?
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, I don't know, but I don't like anything else.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: And he, and you're in your in your in the right.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's just that my dad, I have to understand from his perspective, it's like he, his entire, like most of his life, he, his dream had been to move to the United States.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: And he didn't get to do it until he was in his 50s, when his kids were like grown.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I was the youngest, and I was 12 when we moved in my siblings were older.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: So he just like his dream had been that for himself.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: And then it became a dream that he had for us as his kids.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then now for his kids to make different choices than what he would have hoped we would be doing.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's like it's, I understand from his perspective.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: I understand it from his perspective.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: But then at the same time, it's like, and I think it's something that he works on himself, but I know in even presently what I'm doing right now.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, yeah, I'm good and I'm good in what I do and I'm successful in my career, but it's not a conventional stable.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: career in the sense that you never know like what's going to happen.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, it's like one of the fastest growing careers that you can have right now in the way that it's like been the last ever since I started it even before that.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's a it's a little bit it's just like we always have conversations about what does my future and our future look like once we have kids and like what are we doing?
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: Those are good conversations to have and
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: okay um keeping it simple someone said favorite neighborhood in New York City and favorite restaurant in that neighborhood uh my favorite restaurant in New York what about your favorite neighborhood in New York my favorite neighborhood in New York um
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, my favorite neighborhood in New York.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't go there a lot.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: But every time I am there, whether it's like from my basketball runs or I would say my favorite neighborhood in New York is the Lower East Side.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: Could have told you that, the Lower East Side.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: Or I also like, I think the Lower East Side is chill.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: what we're going to say.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: West Village is nice too, but it's not, it's like, it's very cute.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's cute.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: I would say, I would say my favorite neighborhood is the West Village of Yes.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: It has amazing restaurants.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: And some of my favorite restaurants are in the West Village.

- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: You won't wait for a table for lunch.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: Via Corrota, Corrota.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: Via Corrota, yeah, it's like one of the best restaurants in New York.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Have we been?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: I've been twice.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: You haven't been.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: We should go though.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: And that's your favorite restaurant.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: You haven't been there with me.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's crazy, why?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: Because it's pretty hard to get into.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: You kind of have to randomly like, you know what, go right now.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because we just had the time and it was like a random like, oh, let's see if we could get a table, but no pressure if we didn't.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: And we did each time.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: I love, I love, I even ramen.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: Which, I mean, what, why do you, what are your life like that?

- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: I have a ramen best.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I never liked ramen until I went to Ivan Ramen.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I love Ivan Ramen and then another restaurant that I really like, I love Edits.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: They are not on the lower East side.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't matter.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: But they're in the West Village.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: And in the West.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: And there's one in Brooklyn as well also.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was going to say one restaurant you like on the lower side is Kisa.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, Kisa, mm-hmm, that's good Korean Korean food listen, I We went to Korea and we had Korean food from there and it surpassed my expectations
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: the Korean food and Korea?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: I will never forget that first Korean barbecue we had.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was a random spot.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was a random spot.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's barely anybody in there.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: The food at first, we were like, I don't know, again.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: It was amazing.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was amazing.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like 10 out of 10.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: Next question.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: Tell us something about how you two reconnect as a couple when you feel disconnected.
