- 0:00Cemeteries are supposed to be places of eternal rest, but what
- 0:04happens when the dead become restless?
- 0:07When a family believes they have found their next chapter to
- 0:11happily ever after, they soon realize that they've been
- 0:14enshrouded in a fog of darkness. As the paranormal torment
- 0:19intensifies, will they survive the demonic barrage or will hell
- 0:24take them? This is the untold story of the
- 0:27Pennington Family haunting which took place in North Carolina,
- 0:32also known as the Back from the Grave case.
- 0:35This is a story I would not suggest you listen to if you're
- 0:38alone or in the dark, unless you like a challenge.
- 1:04Winston Salem, NC, often called the Twin City, is most famous
- 1:10for its deep roots in the tobacco and textile industries.
- 1:15It's also known as the City of the Arts, given its unique
- 1:18cultural background. But this seemingly normal place
- 1:21on the surface, like many outwardly normal places, has an
- 1:26underbelly of darkness. Our story begins in 2008.
- 1:31Jamie Bruce and Aaron Pennington are a longtime couple who,
- 1:35through teamwork, have decided to purchase their first house.
- 1:39They find a deal that seems to be straight out of their dreams.
- 1:43The home they find is in the historic Jackson Acres area and
- 1:47is right in their budget, and although it'll take a little
- 1:50work with some small fixes, it's perfect for them.
- 1:54It was a good size, close to Jamie's family, and overall a
- 1:58solid start for the couple. Upon moving in, all seemed
- 2:03normal and quiet, but lurking within the shadows, something
- 2:07unseen was watching them. The couple enjoyed their new
- 2:11neighborhood and often took advantage of the local
- 2:14playgrounds and parks. 1 Park in particular, which was just a few
- 2:18homes down and across the street from them, seemed to become
- 2:22their children's favorite and interestingly, it was attached
- 2:26to a cemetery. The cemetery, which dated back
- 2:29to the Civil War, was family owned and kept.
- 2:33One afternoon, as the couple was spending time with their two
- 2:37children, daughter Laci, who was a year old, and son Mason, who
- 2:42was three, at the park and on their way headed back to their
- 2:45house, they decided to take a look inside the cemetery as
- 2:49well. As Jamie steps inside to look at
- 2:52the various graves and headstones, she can't help but
- 2:55notice after a moment that her son seems to be staring at
- 2:59something from beyond the cemetery gates.
- 3:02It's almost as if he sees something that she can't.
- 3:06As she walks back towards her son, his eyes seem firmly locked
- 3:11towards the direction of a large tree within the cemetery itself.
- 3:15She calls his name, but yet his attention stays locked.
- 3:20Finally, she approaches him and taps him on the shoulder, asking
- 3:24just what he was looking at. The young boy seems startled at
- 3:28his mother's touch and in response, he replies with.
- 3:32I just want to go home, mom. Jamie, finding this odd but not
- 3:36dwelling on it too much, obliges him.
- 3:39That night, as the moon hangs high over the Pennington
- 3:42household, the family slept soundly, but something else,
- 3:46however, was wide awake and watching.
- 3:51Aaron, who worked for a trucking company as a manager, works 2nd
- 3:55and occasionally 3rd shift depending on when the trucks
- 3:58would finally arrive. As one can imagine, this puts
- 4:02the majority of the responsibilities of raising the
- 4:04children and the house duties on Jamie, as well as makes the
- 4:08couple seeing one another more difficult, but they do what they
- 4:12can to make it all work. One night, after putting the
- 4:15children to bed and laying down in bed herself, as her eyes
- 4:19close and she begins to drift off to dreamland, Jamie is
- 4:23suddenly woken up by the sounds of her young daughter crying in
- 4:27her crib. Her cries, however, escalate
- 4:30from normalcy to a fever pitch unlike any she's heard before.
- 4:36Jamie then quickly rushes out of bed and sprints towards her
- 4:39children's room, trying to figure out just what was going
- 4:43on. As she reaches the doorway, she
- 4:46sees that her son is also awake alongside her daughter.
- 4:50As she quiets baby Laci, she asks Mason just what had
- 4:53happened to prompt both of them waking up, and to her horror,
- 4:58the young boy answered with a man came out of the mirror.
- 5:03Thinking that perhaps the young boy had had a nightmare and
- 5:06maybe woke up with a sound or a cry which then startled the
- 5:09baby. She tries to quell his fears by
- 5:13investigating the room and showing him by opening the
- 5:16closets and checking underneath the bed that there was no such
- 5:20man in the room, nor was there anyone hiding anywhere.
- 5:25The kids eventually fall back asleep, but Jamie, finding the
- 5:29whole thing strange to say the least, decided to stay up to see
- 5:33and talk to her husband. Several hours later, when Aaron
- 5:37arrives back home, she greets him in the living room and tells
- 5:41him just what had occurred in Aaron's own words.
- 5:45I found this to be very strange because it was completely out of
- 5:48the ordinary for my son to be making something up like this.
- 5:53The following morning, while Aaron takes Mason with him to
- 5:56run errands, Jamie is doing chores around the house.
- 6:00As she finishes up the dishes and begins walking out of the
- 6:03kitchen towards the hallway, she suddenly begins hearing a
- 6:07strange series of banging noises emanating from the kitchen
- 6:10behind her. Turning around to see just what
- 6:13those sounds could be, she cautiously makes her way back
- 6:17into the room. A chill soon overtakes her very
- 6:20soul. All the windows in every single
- 6:23cabinet door, including the ones at the very top towards the
- 6:27ceiling, were all open. Weirded out but trying to cope
- 6:31with hearing and seeing something she couldn't explain,
- 6:34she tries to tell herself that surely she had just accidentally
- 6:38opened them during her tasks and forgot about it.
- 6:42But deep down, she would later admit in interviews, she knew
- 6:46something was very wrong. Attempting to brush off the
- 6:50incident, she continues on with her day.
- 6:53Later that evening, as the sun settled on the horizon, Jamie is
- 6:58giving Mason a bath. As she gets up from the tub to
- 7:01grab her son a towel, she goes from the bathroom and into the
- 7:05hallway towards one of the closets.
- 7:08As she takes several steps towards it, she hears her son
- 7:11talking in the bathroom. He's not just saying a few words
- 7:15to himself, it seems as if he's having a very serious
- 7:19conversation with someone. However, there is no one there
- 7:24with him. Calling out to him, she asked
- 7:27Mason are you talking to someone?
- 7:29In which he replied with yes. Finding this extremely odd, she
- 7:35grabs the towel and quickly makes her way back to the
- 7:38bathroom. Upon asking just who her son was
- 7:41speaking with, the young boy replied with Gable.
- 7:46Thinking that maybe her son was just using his overactive
- 7:49imagination, she asked him if Gable was one of his toys, to
- 7:53which he replied with no, he's a man.
- 7:58He was just here talking to me, and he left just before you came
- 8:02back. A chill runs down Jamie's spine.
- 8:06Could it be possible that her son was speaking with someone
- 8:09that she couldn't hear or see? Could they all be experiencing A
- 8:15haunting? That night, as the family spends
- 8:18time together in the living room, Aaron decides to ask his
- 8:21son just where did he hear the name Gable, expecting to hear
- 8:25that perhaps his son had heard it elsewhere, such as from
- 8:28another child or from something on TV.
- 8:32He becomes far more concerned when Mason tells him that Gable
- 8:36himself had told him that that was his name as they further
- 8:40question the boy. Expecting for this whole thing
- 8:43to be some kind of imaginary friend situation, Mason instead
- 8:47insists that Gable is a very real person and one that he sees
- 8:52and speaks with daily. Aaron then asked Mason that if
- 8:57Gable is real, then where was he, to which his son pointed
- 9:01towards his room. He then asked his son to go and
- 9:05get him. In later interviews, Aaron would
- 9:08say that in that moment, my heart dropped a bit when my son
- 9:12said that Gable was in the back bedroom.
- 9:16Mason then proceeds to walk into the back bedroom and begins
- 9:19having what seems like a coherent conversation with
- 9:22someone or something that they can't hear respond back to him.
- 9:27He then returns to the living room.
- 9:30When Aaron asks him just where Gable was, the boy eerily
- 9:34responds with He's right here beside me.
- 9:38The young boy seems adamant that there was someone there with
- 9:41him. She asks him just what was 7 +
- 9:454, knowing that her son couldn't add numbers quite yet like that.
- 9:50To her shock and amazement, after several seconds, he
- 9:54answers with 11. In Jamie's words, our mouths
- 10:00just dropped. What were we to think now?
- 10:03Just what were we even supposed to do or believe?
- 10:07Do we believe him now or not? Not sure what else to say or
- 10:11think, the couple sits for a moment in silence, with
- 10:16goosebumps overtaking them in the weeks that follow, it's not
- 10:21just Mason's parents who come to believe that perhaps their son
- 10:24is telling the truth. A longtime friend and babysitter
- 10:28by the name of Pam Marsh is also becoming a believer in her own
- 10:33words. Mason's demeanor let us all know
- 10:36that this was something very serious by the look on his face.
- 10:41We questioned him and the answers he gave us, just how he
- 10:45gave them to US-led us to believe that he really believed
- 10:48that Gable was real and was there.
- 10:51It was truly odd that he believed so intensely, and it
- 10:55was pretty weird that this young boy was so deadly serious.
- 11:00In an effort to seek some kind of rational answer to this whole
- 11:03thing, Jamie visits Mason's preschool teacher.
- 11:07She asked several general questions about how her son was
- 11:10doing and performing, which was all good, and then she asked if
- 11:14the name Gable meant anything to the teacher, to which the
- 11:18teacher would reply with a very confused no.
- 11:22She also confirmed that the name didn't belong to any student, or
- 11:25faculty for that matter, nor had it come from any of the stories
- 11:30that she had read to the class in the days to come following
- 11:34meeting with Mason's teacher. As Jamie is home, she's alert
- 11:38and watching for any signs of anything unusual.
- 11:42It had become all too familiar to her, whether the children
- 11:46were there or if she was completely alone, that something
- 11:49was watching her, something that she couldn't see.
- 11:53The house that had once felt like a home was feeling more and
- 11:57more like a prison. One night while the children are
- 12:01sleeping and Aaron is away at work, Jamie seeks comfort and
- 12:05advice from her friend Pam as she talks with her on the phone
- 12:09just about everything that had been taking place.
- 12:13Her conversation is soon interrupted by the sound of
- 12:17rattling chains. Believing that someone had
- 12:20broken into the house, she very cautiously, with her friends
- 12:24still on the phone, begins to walk towards where the noise is
- 12:29coming from. Unnervingly, it's originating
- 12:33from her children's room. As she quietly makes her way
- 12:36towards the room and gets within a foot or so of the cracked
- 12:39door, the rattling suddenly stops.
- 12:43Gently, she pushes the door open, only to reveal the sight
- 12:48of both of her children fast asleep.
- 12:51Not only did Pam on the phone also hear the strange noises,
- 12:55she's not totally sure how the kids didn't wake up due to how
- 12:58loud it all was. Scared now and not sure of what
- 13:02to make of the strange situation, she lets her friend
- 13:06go and decides to call Aaron. Aaron, who is a skeptic in
- 13:10general, tries to calm his wife down by telling her that he
- 13:14believed that she had indeed heard something, but that surely
- 13:18there had to be an explanation for it.
- 13:21And surely it wasn't any kind of ghostly chains rapping against
- 13:24the floor, that perhaps it had been something rattling within
- 13:28the air ducts of the house. He manages to calm her down
- 13:31enough to settle down, but deep inside Jamie knows that
- 13:35something is wrong with this house and really this entire
- 13:38situation. And it truly bothers her that
- 13:42despite her best efforts, there is seemingly no explanation for
- 13:46the bizarre things that have been happening.
- 13:49And little would she know that these events would be far from
- 13:52the last to occur. Several days later, as Jamie is
- 13:57doing laundry in another part of the house, she has a baby
- 14:00monitor video tablet on the dryer to watch her kids in the
- 14:04minutes that she's away doing chores.
- 14:07Upon loading some clothes into the washer, she glances up at
- 14:11the monitor and sees something very concerning in her own
- 14:15words. I looked up from the laundry at
- 14:17the baby monitor and saw what appeared to be a thick smoke
- 14:21enveloping the room. It was going from one side of
- 14:24the screen to the next. Panicking, believing that there
- 14:28was a fire in the house, she runs from the laundry room at a
- 14:32dead Sprint to her children's room to ensure their safety.
- 14:37As she rushes down the hallway, she throws open the door to
- 14:40their room. However, there's no smoke, no
- 14:45smell of fire, and her children are completely fine, still
- 14:50asleep in their beds. In her own words, there was no
- 14:55smell, no smoke, there was nothing.
- 14:58I called Aaron and he said that if I saw smoke that there had to
- 15:03be an explanation as to why. When Aaron returns that morning,
- 15:07he quickly begins to try and troubleshoot just how or why his
- 15:11wife would have seen smoke that wasn't there.
- 15:14His conclusion was that it had to have been some kind of glitch
- 15:18or static on the baby monitor that perhaps his wife had
- 15:21misinterpreted as smoke at a glance.
- 15:24Jamie, however, is convinced of what she saw, and her conviction
- 15:29was that perhaps this had something to do with Gable, that
- 15:33some kind of unseen force was trying to communicate with her.
- 15:37Later that night, in order to have Peace of Mind, the couple
- 15:41brings their two children to sleep with them in their room.
- 15:44However, in the middle of the night, baby Lacey is restless.
- 15:50As Erin and Jamie try to quell her cries, she seems
- 15:54inconsolable. Jamie believes that it could
- 15:57have something to do with what has been happening in the house,
- 16:01that they're all, in one way or another, being stalked by this
- 16:05unexplained presence. In the weeks to come, Jamie
- 16:09begins to hear the sound of disembodied laughter when she
- 16:12tries to sleep, often when Aaron is gone at work.
- 16:17This laughter sounds like a child, but would often morph
- 16:20into something darker and it's pitch would go higher and lower
- 16:25an octave, something that terrified the poor woman.
- 16:30Jamie, confiding in her friend Pam about what had continued to
- 16:33take place at their house, tells her that although she didn't
- 16:36believe in ghosts before, she's starting to now, and that she's
- 16:41not so sure that Gable is the only entity that could be
- 16:45stalking her family. One night, she's woken up once
- 16:49again by the sound of laughter emanating from around her in the
- 16:53darkness of her room, in her own words.
- 16:57When I heard the laugh, it was loud and was only about two or
- 17:01three feet away from me, and it was just so real.
- 17:05And that's when I finally realized that all of this was
- 17:08real, that there was something in my house, and I was
- 17:11terrified. Later that night, when Aaron
- 17:14returns from work, he comes home to find his wife and children
- 17:18asleep in the living room. Figuring that something else had
- 17:22to have happened, he sits down next to them in one of their
- 17:25chairs and contemplates just what they'll do next.
- 17:29As he thinks from within the darkness of the house, he begins
- 17:33to hear what appears to be music in his words.
- 17:38I was sitting there and suddenly I began to hear 3 distinct notes
- 17:43repeat over and over again. This continued for at least 5
- 17:48minutes. As a result of this, he
- 17:51cautiously gets up and begins approaching the basement as the
- 17:56notes continue to ring out from its depths.
- 18:00As he slowly descends the stairs and reaches the bottom, the
- 18:05music continues to be played. He searches everywhere but
- 18:10continues to hear the music, so he then returns to the upper
- 18:14level of the house and still searching, he finds nothing, yet
- 18:20the haunting melody continues. He very gently wakes his wife
- 18:26and has her verify that he's not crazy, and after she confirms
- 18:30that she hears it as well, the melody suddenly ceases.
- 18:35Finding this creepy to say the least, but accepting the fact
- 18:39that they had no ability to determine what or why since it
- 18:43was out of their scope of understanding, the couple
- 18:45decides to lay down together to try and get some rest for the
- 18:49night. However, as light rain tapped
- 18:52the windows outside of their home, something from inside its
- 18:56walls continued to lurk. Shortly after dozing off, both
- 19:01Jamie and Aaron are woken up, but this time by a very
- 19:05different sound. This time it was a muffled
- 19:08series of conversations seemingly intertwined with some
- 19:12kind of strange yet terrifying chanting.
- 19:16Similar to the melody. They have no idea where it's
- 19:20coming from. As the chant oscillates between
- 19:23lower and higher pitches, it hits a part of their souls that
- 19:28beyond horrifies them. They both now, beyond a shadow
- 19:32of a doubt, know that whatever they were experiencing was
- 19:36paranormal and that they needed help immediately.
- 19:40The following day and into the night, Jamie, using her laptop,
- 19:45scours the Internet seeking any help, or information really that
- 19:49could help her figure out just what was happening in their
- 19:52house. She's not having much luck,
- 19:55however, Hope seems to find her. Aaron, while on his lunch break
- 20:01at work, overhears a radio program discussion with an
- 20:05author and paranormal researcher by the name of Bill James.
- 20:09And through this interview, he begins to gain some knowledge on
- 20:13just how these things work. One of the ways these entities
- 20:17feed off you, James said, is by creating havoc in your life.
- 20:21Any anger or sorrow or strong emotions they feed off of to
- 20:26gain energy for themselves. That if you cut this off, that
- 20:30it effectively starves them in the cycle of constant provoking
- 20:34and torment over time will cease.
- 20:38That one, through self regulation must effectively
- 20:41retake their space and face their fears.
- 20:44Interested in figuring that they had nothing to lose, Aaron calls
- 20:49his wife and tells her just what he had heard.
- 20:52Although the prospect of anything otherworldly messing
- 20:55with her and her family terrifies Jamie deeply, her love
- 20:59for Aaron and the kids far outweighs her fear.
- 21:02She decides that she must be brave and stand up to whatever
- 21:06these things were, particularly when Aaron was at work.
- 21:10Activity seemed to flare up, almost as if she was being
- 21:13targeted, that perhaps her emotions were some of the
- 21:17strongest that these entities could feed off of.
- 21:20Shortly after this phone call, as Jamie sits in the living room
- 21:24on her laptop as her children sleep, Mason suddenly wakes up
- 21:29as she heads over to ask him why he was awake.
- 21:32Thinking that perhaps the boy had a bad dream, he says that
- 21:36Gable had touched his shoulder and woke him up to play.
- 21:41Remembering what she and her husband had just discussed,
- 21:44Jamie then asks Mason if Gable was there and with them, after
- 21:49which he points to his room and says that that's where he went.
- 21:54She decides that she will make a stand here and face him.
- 21:58Gathering herself, she calls out towards the room, telling Gable
- 22:03that he needed to leave. After a moment of silence, Mason
- 22:08tells her that Gable hurt her and was leaving.
- 22:12In the weeks following this night, the house becomes quiet,
- 22:16almost peaceful. However, what they don't realize
- 22:20is that they're like a mouse in a den of snakes.
- 22:25Jamie, meanwhile, continued to reclaim her house.
- 22:29One night, as she does laundry, she feels the sensation of
- 22:33someone or something grabbing the back of her pant leg.
- 22:37She becomes startled, but tries to ignore whatever it could be
- 22:41as to not give it more fuel. As she walks over and starts the
- 22:45dryer, however, is when all hell breaks loose.
- 22:49Within moments, an invisible force grabs her calf and then,
- 22:54lifting it up, begins to pull. Jamie, who of course is
- 22:58petrified at what's happening, screams out while grabbing onto
- 23:03nearby shelves and the dryer itself for stability.
- 23:07The attack then suddenly stops. Frantic now, she runs across the
- 23:12house and calls Aaron and demands that he come home.
- 23:17They both now knew that whatever this thing or these things were,
- 23:21that they could physically interact with them and that this
- 23:24was now an immediate threat. Aaron hangs up the phone with
- 23:28his wife and immediately rushes home.
- 23:31Upon stepping through the door and consoling her, he now knows
- 23:35that he must confront the darkness that has infested his
- 23:38house. He makes his way to the laundry
- 23:41room and feeling a rage building inside, he begins to call the
- 23:45entities out, demanding that they show themselves, saying
- 23:50that they were weak for targeting his wife and children.
- 23:53He lets them have it, so to speak.
- 23:56The entities this time, however, decide to remain elusive and
- 24:00within the shadows. They do not reveal themselves.
- 24:05Jamie, the following day, once again confides in her friend Pam
- 24:09about the ongoing and worsening paranormal experiences within
- 24:13her home. Pam then does some research of
- 24:16her own and makes contact with paranormal investigators by the
- 24:20name of Pam, Nance and Ashley Field.
- 24:23Within the coming days, she's able to meet with them both and
- 24:27they decide to make their way to Jamie and Aaron's house.
- 24:31As they approach the home and they're driving past to the old
- 24:34cemetery, the investigators ask Pam if the family has ever
- 24:38visited this place. Remembering the several times in
- 24:42which they had, she answered yes, and that to the
- 24:45investigator seemed to be the possible catalyst for what was
- 24:49now plugging them, that they had, perhaps unknowingly,
- 24:52brought an attachment home with them.
- 24:55As they all park and approach the residence, there was a
- 24:59general feeling of anxiety that hung in the air like humidity.
- 25:04Upon entering and speaking with the couple, the group then
- 25:07begins their investigation. One of the first things they
- 25:11noticed was that there were high levels of electromagnetic
- 25:14energy. They tried to debunk just how
- 25:17this would be, but didn't seem to find any explainable reason.
- 25:22Following this, the two decide to place a video camera to
- 25:26record themselves as they then simultaneously record with a
- 25:30digital recorder as they try to communicate with anything that
- 25:34could be present there with them.
- 25:37As the EVP or Electronic voice phenomena session began, the
- 25:41group started asking questions to whatever presence could be
- 25:45there. The energy.
- 25:46Then the entire home began to shift.
- 25:50It began to feel similar as when electricity charges in the
- 25:54moments just before a thunderstorm is unleashed.
- 25:58Something was bubbling just below the surface.
- 26:01As their questions rang out, they soon began to receive
- 26:05answers. Different words that manifested
- 26:09through the static. Different voices, that of a man
- 26:13and that of a little girl seemed to come through first in the
- 26:17words of Ashley Field. I rarely, if ever, hear words
- 26:21with my naked ear during an investigation, but this one was
- 26:25different. The feeling of unease by this
- 26:28point could be felt by everyone present.
- 26:32The session was taking place in the children's room.
- 26:35There was a large mirror within it, and this mirror seemed to be
- 26:39a focal point of dark energy. It is believed that mirrors can
- 26:43serve as portals or doorways between our world and others.
- 26:48Stories of mimics and other figures showing themselves
- 26:52through them have been reported by many, as well as entities
- 26:55manifesting and physically stepping through them.
- 26:59Could this mirror be serving as just that, a means for those who
- 27:03aren't meant to be here to access our realm?
- 27:07Feeling as though there was an otherworldly and potentially
- 27:10malicious presence surrounding the mirror, the investigators
- 27:13decide to take action. Ashley Field, using an old
- 27:18folklore cleansing technique that originated in Appalachia,
- 27:22takes a lemon water mixture and pours it onto a towel.
- 27:26She then wipes the glass surface of the mirror.
- 27:29It is believed that this technique seals portals within
- 27:32the mirror, rendering them closed, thus trapping the power
- 27:36within and effectively blocking anything that could be trying to
- 27:39come through. In Ashley's own words, cleansing
- 27:43is all about intent. It's not a power that someone
- 27:46gives to you, it's what you're putting out into the world.
- 27:50If you're putting out good and pushing away the bad, it's like
- 27:53getting away from bad people but leaving the portal to be sealed.
- 27:58The team now focuses on what could be remaining that had
- 28:01already come through. They decide to utilize smudging
- 28:05or the burning of sage to cleanse the House of any
- 28:08remaining entities and their negative energy.
- 28:11After cracking several windows to allow airflow starting in the
- 28:15center of the room. As the smoke billows from the
- 28:18sage bundle and begins to fill the air, Ashley then fans it
- 28:22outward to push anything that could be there away and out of
- 28:27the house. She does this room by room.
- 28:31Upon finishing, she utilizes a Christian Southern technique for
- 28:35cleansing spirits. She takes blessed salt and
- 28:39combines it with holy water in a bowl and then starting in the
- 28:43center of the room, begins flicking it outward.
- 28:47This technique is based off of baptism tides that by pushing
- 28:51the negative energy away, it mimics tides that are utilized
- 28:55to wash one's sins away. Upon finishing this, the group
- 29:00decides to resume their efforts, investigating to see if anything
- 29:04remains within the home. To their shock, as they resume
- 29:08the EVP session and call out, they further receive answers.
- 29:14The entities, despite their efforts, remain.
- 29:18Pam is part of the investigation, take several
- 29:21photos of the house, and upon review sees several dark and
- 29:26eerie shadows within them. Refusing to give up and
- 29:30believing that perhaps the original haunting did indeed
- 29:33originate at the cemetery, they decide to take a trip there with
- 29:37Jamie, Aaron and Pam. As they scour the graves and
- 29:42read the names written upon the old stones, they come across one
- 29:46that stands out to them. It belonged to a man named
- 29:49Gabriel Jackson. From here, they decide to depart
- 29:53the cemetery and embark on seeing if they can find out any
- 29:56more information about Gabriel and anything else that could be
- 30:00contributing to this haunting. The team, through those efforts,
- 30:03were able to discover that a plantation once existed on the
- 30:07land where their house now sat, that Gabriel was the son of the
- 30:11man who had owned the plantation, and that he had
- 30:14fought and died in the Civil War.
- 30:16They believed that Mason had possibly been mispronouncing his
- 30:20name or communicating it the best way he could to those
- 30:23around him. The voice they had captured of a
- 30:26little girl they believed could be possibly linked to that of a
- 30:29young girl who had drowned on the property back during its
- 30:33plantation days. With this knowledge, the team
- 30:37arranged for another visit with the family to attempt to fully
- 30:40cleanse and hopefully solve their haunting.
- 30:44But will they be successful? Upon arrival, the team explains
- 30:49to the family that they must reclaim their space using the
- 30:52knowledge of who they believed the entities to be, along with
- 30:56their intent and prayer. Since Jamie had been the main
- 30:59person to experience the phenomena, they believed that
- 31:03she should do the cleansing. As she began to say the Our
- 31:06Father prayer out loud, images of all her experiences within
- 31:11the home began to flash in her mind's eye, feeling fearful at
- 31:15first but pushing through. However, she completes the
- 31:18prayer through her resilience with the utmost intent.
- 31:22With the final words leaving her lips, she and the rest of those
- 31:26present began to feel an overwhelming change of energy
- 31:30within the home, and they all would come to the conclusion
- 31:33that the entities had moved on. Following this, the team and the
- 31:38family exchanged goodbyes, and Aaron and Jamie are finally able
- 31:43to move on with their lives. Interestingly, through
- 31:46conversations with their neighbors, they would come to
- 31:49find out that they weren't the only ones experiencing
- 31:52paranormal activity. This revelation leads them to
- 31:55believe that it is the land itself that's haunted.
- 31:59The land itself perhaps carried the scars and trauma of the
- 32:02living, and thus those buried beneath it never truly got to
- 32:07rest. Before we conclude this
- 32:10harrowing story, I did want to share my thoughts and some
- 32:13updated information in regards to the family.
- 32:16This case, like so many, just goes to show that many people,
- 32:20myself as well, even within suburbia, have experienced
- 32:24paranormal activity that these happenings or these hauntings
- 32:28can occur just about anywhere and to anyone.
- 32:31While I found a lot of details of this case interesting, I'm
- 32:34just going to touch on a few of them.
- 32:36I find the whole notion of otherworldly entities passing
- 32:40through mirrors as if they were portals to be absolutely
- 32:43terrifying, considering my own father saw a demonic
- 32:47manifestation in the mirror at one of the haunted homes I grew
- 32:50up in. I've always just been terrified
- 32:53that I'd go to look into the mirror one day and something
- 32:56that wasn't my own reflection might be staring back at me, and
- 32:59that thought is beyond unnerving.
- 33:02I did also find the cleansing methods and the folklore or
- 33:05reasoning behind them to be very interesting as well.
- 33:08I'm curious just why a lemon would work in particular or what
- 33:12the belief behind it is. And I did find the use of
- 33:15blessed salts in holy water to be pretty cool as well.
- 33:18I personally utilize sage in my cleansings and really all of it
- 33:22combined with the intent aspect I found fascinating.
- 33:26I'm curious if any of you have used any of these methods.
- 33:29If you've cleansed a space, let me know down in the comments
- 33:32below. In regards to the family, I
- 33:35tried my absolute best to find updates on them and to be able
- 33:38to share ones that wouldn't compromise their privacy.
- 33:41And all that I could find was that Aaron, if it was indeed the
- 33:45same one I found that was involved in the case, seems to
- 33:48be active in the paranormal community in his specific neck
- 33:51of the woods. It's always cool to see a
- 33:53skeptic become a believer through their own experiences
- 33:57and then want to help enlighten others about the paranormal.
- 34:01I believe he and Jamie continued to live at the house after the
- 34:04cleansing and reclamation. Whether they're still there or
- 34:08not, I'm not sure. But regardless of wherever they
- 34:11are, I hope they're doing well and thriving and I hope my
- 34:15rendition of their story did it justice.
- 34:18I did also look into the paranormal investigators that
- 34:22were featured on this case and to my knowledge they're still
- 34:25active and doing what they did in this case and that's
- 34:29investigating the paranormal and potentially helping people which
- 34:33is always commendable. This story has been covered on a
- 34:36few platforms including the show A Haunting, which is one of my
- 34:39all time favorites and I enjoyed re watching this episode as I
- 34:43delved into the case alongside my research.
- 34:46So with that all being said, what are your thoughts on the
- 34:49case as a whole? Do you have any additional
- 34:51insider details that you could add?
- 34:54Or have you yourself experienced A haunting?
