  [SPEAKER_00]: very fired up to talk about Travis Hunter in his first regular season NFL game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Haven't seen him on a game field since preseason week one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He missed preseason week two.

  [SPEAKER_00]: None of the starters played in preseason week three.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, uh,

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy who you haven't seen a ton on the field for the Jaguars yet, and obviously even if you saw him in all three preseason games, it wouldn't matter much because that's not the regular season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is his first regular season game of his rookie year, we're going to talk about what to expect from Travis Hunter right here right now, again, really appreciate y'all supporting the channel.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he missed about a week and a half of practice during training camp, but it was later on in camp.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I would say honestly,

  [SPEAKER_00]: It was kind of like the middle to end of camp and you would rather have missed that time, I think, than early on because early on is when you really get your feet what it's really, really when things are ramping up I feel like he was there for the entire ramp up period and then you're kind of, I don't wanna say coasting but a lot of the haze in the barn by the time Travis Hunter was not practicing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: For Travis Hunter, would you have liked to have him available for practice the entire training camp?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's a major concern though.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's not injured right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's not on the injury report.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's not limited in practice.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's fully good to go.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Travis Hunter,

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think not only is Fully healthy right now, I think he's fully prepared for the roles that the Jack Wars will feature him in in week one against the Panthers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he's going to play both sides of the ball.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's very exciting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Defensively corner back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: going to be outside corner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have Jordan Lewis as you're starting slot corner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have Tyson Campbell as a starting outside corner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think you will see some jarian jones.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you will see some Travis Hunter on the outside.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm expecting defensively offensively.

  [SPEAKER_00]: is that they have primarily trained him and installed with Travis Hunter as the slot receiver in 11 personnel.

  [SPEAKER_00]: 11 personnel is three wide receivers, one tied in, one running back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I expect the Jag wars to primarily align in throughout the 2025 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, will there be games where they are much more heavy in 12 personnel or a different things, yes, certainly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I think 11 personnel,

  [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be there bread and butter.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think 12 personnel will probably be their second most utilized perk personnel package which is two tight ends two receivers one running back And I think they'll get into plenty of other funky stuff as well keep it fresh But 11 personnel is what Travis Hunter has primarily trained in as the slot receiver throughout the offseason throughout training camp

  [SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean you can't see him on the field in two wide receiver sets?

  [SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think so, because I think you can install few different looks out of 12 personnel or out of 13, three tight ends, or out of other personnel packages, where Travis Hunter is on the field.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's going to be taking Brian Thomas Jr.

  [SPEAKER_00]: off the field, but I think it's possible, even though we've primarily seen Travis Hunter in there in 11 personnel as the slot receiver that he could be out there in two wider silver sets with BTJ and Travis Hunter.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think just because 11 personnel is what we've been told about and what we've seen that they haven't installed anything else.

  [SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone was intentionally being coy and talking about how the not knowing, the unknown of how much Travis Hunter can play both sides and what he can do on both sides, they are going to utilize that to their advantage.

  [SPEAKER_00]: In week one and week two week, teams just simply won't know exactly how he's going to be deployed every single week or how much he's going to be on offense, how much he's going to be on defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so no one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I do mean no one outside of that coaching staff and maybe even within that coaching staff, maybe even Liam Cohen knows how much he is going to play.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They might not know how much he's going to play in a given game until they see the situation of that game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I do personally expect.

  [SPEAKER_00]: offense is going to be the heavier side of the ball that he's on because that is what we have seen and that is the side of the ball where he can have a bigger impact on the overall outcome of the game in my opinion.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Helping Trevor Lawrence, helping Brian Thomas Jr.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Helping everybody on the offensive side of the ball, I think is gonna help them win games.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And look, I'm not saying don't plan on defense, but I expect him to be on the field about 75 plus percent of the time on offense and over half the time on defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If it's 75%, and let's say, 55%, that's 130%.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's 130%.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That is more than the full alignment of snaps on either side of the ball.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So pretty cool.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is a unique situation.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Offensively, again, I think you will expect him to be on the field mostly in a 11 personnel, mostly in these three wide receiver sets.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think when you look at the Jaguar's personnel, their players on the offensive side of the ball, that really does make sense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, having Brian Thomas Jr.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Um, Britain Strange, Travis H. T. N. or Tank Biggs beer basaltoon on the field all together makes sense that that's a really good group of skill position players to have on the field.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what you're going to see the most.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you see a lot of designed, manufactured, touches for Travis Hunter early in the game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jet sweeps, screens.

  [SPEAKER_00]: quick hitters, like shallow crossers, some, you know, like five yards, three yards, stop routes, out routes, deep overs, I think you can see a lot from him, digs, these types of routes where you're really letting his athleticism, his quickness, his explosiveness, his ability to plant and go shine.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect a lot of come back routes, I think that is the one area

  [SPEAKER_00]: and there's nuances and things that he can continue to develop in every phase of his game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a very young player, but I think he's much better on the move than he is kind of coming back to the ball at this point in his young career.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I wouldn't expect to see a lot of comeback routes, but again,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Manufactured Touch is close to the Linus Grimage.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's going to be the primary usage early on.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then also you can see some deepovers, some digs, some things a little bit further down the field.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, he can also run a fade, a slot fade.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you can see Trevor Lawrence has been really good at slot fade throughout his career.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr is really good at that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Travis Hunter can be really good at that as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So those are kind of the ways I expect them to be used on the offensive side of the ball, defensively, I think this is going to be a very zone heavy defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They've said as much.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen's talked about that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that that means they'll be predictable because you can show a too high shell, which I think they're going to often show a too high shell, which means two safeties in the middle of the field with two corners on the outside, a nickel.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll primarily be in nickel defense where they have five defensive backs, three corners, two safeties, and from that too high shell.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You can do a lot of different things.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't have to be covered too, or cover too, man.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It can be all sorts of different looks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You also see plenty of simulated pressure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We talked a lot about what I expect from the defense as a whole in the show yesterday, but for Travis Hunter, I expect him to be on the outside.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And zone heavy looks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And clear passing situations more often than early downs, honestly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I do expect him to play over 50% of the snaps on defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not just thinking they're not going to be out there on first down.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I think he will have more snaps against clear passing looks than clear running looks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think he'll be in, again, zone heavy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense for literally...

  [SPEAKER_00]: just about everyone in their defensive backfield, his own defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Tyson Campbell is much better with his eyes in the backfield.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, amazing with his eyes in the backfield, his ability to jump routes, maybe second to none.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The safety is I think it makes sense for them as well, but he is really smart, really fluid, really intelligent and instinctive in zone coverage.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's what they need to be in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Really, much more often than not.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gonna get his hands on the football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Does he pick it?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Really kind of depends on the situation, but I think he's going to get his hands on the ball and make a play on the football and game number one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's just too good not to.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If he's out there enough and I think he will be.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But again, that's just my personal expectation based on what I've seen and heard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, no one knows exactly how this is gonna play out from a utilization and usage standpoint in week one and beyond.

  [SPEAKER_00]: but I do think he's gonna make a very positive impact on the team from the jump.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's that good of a player, that special of a player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Was my number one prospect when I believed the Jaguar has had zero chance of even landing him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was my number one prospect.

  [SPEAKER_00]: One of my favorite players have ever seen play the game in college.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I just cannot wait to see it in Jacksonville thinking about the Jaguars making that bet on him, James Gladstone, Liam Cohen, Tony Bicelli, kind of breaking the mold, pushing the envelope, trading up to go get this dynamic two way player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's like the antithesis of what the Jaguars franchise has been about, throughout its history.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're pushing the envelope, they're pushing to try to improve process, to try to improve results, and to try to constantly grow.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And as James Ladstone said, break down the boundaries of what is expected in football, in the NFL, and Travis Hunter is a perfect example of that, kind of the symbol of that for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I expect him to play a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and play well for the Jaguar as primarily, primarily in 11 personnel and offense, primarily as an outside zone, past defense cover corner.
