114) How Aleigha Went From Working in a Basement to Owning Her Digital Nomad Business in Bali · Digital Nomad Life Podcast

3:34
SPEAKER_00: One day I'm walking to work and I'm like, this is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.
3:38
SPEAKER_00: I want to see the world, and this target job is not going to get me there.
3:44
SPEAKER_02: Hey there, and welcome to the Digital Nomad Life Podcast.
3:47
SPEAKER_02: I'm your host, Krista, a long-term digital nomad and business coach who helps other people become digital nomads themselves.
3:55
SPEAKER_02: And today I am interviewing one of my previous clients, Aaliyah Knight, who I worked with for, I guess, about a year, yeah, in the Digital Nomad Life Academy, which is my program.
4:06
SPEAKER_02: And Aaliyah is just an amazing success story.
4:09
SPEAKER_02: She's now in Bali, which is where we are recording this episode.
4:13
SPEAKER_02: She sold all of her stuff this year.
4:16
SPEAKER_02: She's got her not business consulting business, but a fractional chief of staff business.
4:21
SPEAKER_02: We'll talk all about what she actually does and how she made that transition.
4:25
SPEAKER_02: And yeah, I hope that her story is one that can inspire you because you know what?
4:30
SPEAKER_02: People can change their lives at any stage.
4:33
SPEAKER_02: And um I think you'll hear from her that yeah, we'll just hear all about the decision-making process and challenges that she had to overcome to get here and ultimately why I think she is probably pretty stoked about this new lifestyle that you've got.
4:47
SPEAKER_02: Welcome, dude.
4:48
SPEAKER_00: Hearing you say that, like full body chills.
4:51
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh my god, I'm doing it.
4:53
SPEAKER_00: I've dreamed of this for so long.
4:55
SPEAKER_00: You are teary.
4:56
SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
4:57
SPEAKER_02: Oh, amazing.
4:58
SPEAKER_02: Yay! I'm sure once upon a time you were listening to these episodes before we ever met.
5:04
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
5:05
SPEAKER_00: And now we're friends and you have no choice.
5:08
SPEAKER_00: How does that feel?
5:09
SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's wild.
5:10
SPEAKER_00: I think I always was listening to your podcast whenever I needed that like extra push of like, no, no, no, I can do this.
5:16
SPEAKER_00: Like I wanted to hear other people's success stories.
5:19
SPEAKER_00: So it's exciting that I'm one now.
5:21
SPEAKER_02: That is just so crazy, so full circle.
5:24
SPEAKER_02: One thing I posted in the Digital Nome at Life Academy community wall recently was a picture of me at um in the podcast studio, but I had the seat that you're in right now empty.
5:33
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
5:34
SPEAKER_02: So that people can Photoshop themselves into it and create a little vision board moment being like, yeah, if you come into the program, one day it could be you sitting in this seat and I could be interviewing you.
5:46
SPEAKER_02: And it's like, yeah, is your future self?
5:48
SPEAKER_02: No, you're you are your future self.
5:50
SPEAKER_02: You always are.
5:51
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
5:52
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
5:53
SPEAKER_02: Well, that was a fun little meta time warp moment.
5:57
SPEAKER_02: Let's go back in time.
5:59
SPEAKER_02: And if you could introduce yourself, actually, why don't you why don't you give the listeners a snapshot of exactly what your life is like in this moment, where you are, what you do, um, and when it started.
6:12
SPEAKER_02: And then we'll go back, back, back in time to when you were the podcast listener.
6:16
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
6:17
SPEAKER_00: Okay, sounds good.
6:18
SPEAKER_00: So right now I'm in Bali, which has been the dream for so long.
6:22
SPEAKER_00: I like cried on the plane here because I was so excited.
6:26
SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm actually in a surf camp right now because I really want to be a surfer.
6:30
SPEAKER_00: So that's another identity that I'm trying to lock in.
6:33
SPEAKER_00: Blue crust.
6:34
SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, absolutely.
6:36
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
6:36
SPEAKER_00: I just think server girls just look so cool.
6:39
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, might as well do something that sounds cool.
6:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
6:42
SPEAKER_00: Um, I am currently a fractional chief of staff for sustainable brands.
6:47
SPEAKER_00: I do lots of strategy and operations for and project management, event planning, anything under the sun that helps my clientslash CEO to body double themselves so that they can have double the work, but it's just me doing it rather than you, and I'm saving you your half your life of time.
7:09
SPEAKER_00: Damn.
7:09
SPEAKER_00: So that's a hell of a pitch.
7:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I mean it.
7:13
SPEAKER_00: I really do.
7:14
SPEAKER_00: I think like the weight that my clients literally feel off of that, even after like business planning calls, like it's it's so wonderful to see that I can give them that relief.
7:26
SPEAKER_00: That is so cool.
7:28
SPEAKER_02: So you obviously know a lot about business, yes.
7:32
SPEAKER_02: Um, and was it always that way?
7:34
SPEAKER_02: Like, okay, so that's what you're doing right now.
7:36
SPEAKER_02: I want to go back, back, back in time.
7:39
SPEAKER_02: So there was a time when you were listening to the Digital Nomad Life podcast, but you were not a digital nomad, you had not yet taken steps toward it.
7:47
SPEAKER_00: So, what were you doing with your career?
7:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
7:51
SPEAKER_00: So I found you in 2020 and I graduated college that year.
7:55
SPEAKER_00: So lost my graduation and all that fun stuff.
7:58
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I saw you living here in Bali and I was like, oh my God, I want to do that.
8:04
SPEAKER_00: But at that time I had a job lined up after college.
8:07
SPEAKER_00: I had the dream.
8:08
SPEAKER_00: I was moving to New York City.
8:10
SPEAKER_00: I uh had the big corporate, I was in upper level management at Target.
8:16
SPEAKER_00: Like that's at 22.
8:18
SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah.
8:19
SPEAKER_00: Damn.
8:19
SPEAKER_00: Which is nuts to give someone a 22.
8:22
SPEAKER_00: But I did it and I rocked it and I was really good at it.
8:26
SPEAKER_00: Um, and that was my life, but I also saw yours and listening to yours on the podcast and other people's.
8:34
SPEAKER_00: And I just was like, I one day I'm walking to work and I'm like, this is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.
8:41
SPEAKER_00: Um I want to see the world, and this target job is not gonna get me there.
8:46
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
8:47
SPEAKER_02: So what was it about that?
8:51
SPEAKER_02: I don't know, was it was it the walking to work?
8:54
SPEAKER_02: Was it the work itself?
8:55
SPEAKER_02: Like, what was it that made you feel like this isn't the life that I want?
9:00
SPEAKER_00: Oh, there's all of it, really.
9:03
SPEAKER_00: Um I loved New York City, and New York City has a special place in my heart.
9:06
SPEAKER_00: I grew so much there and I knew I needed to be there at that time, and I I actually ended up living there for five years, which sounds nuts for saying in 2020 I knew I wanted a different lifestyle.
9:18
SPEAKER_00: But I think that was just like an inkling of like, oh, maybe, maybe I can do this.
9:22
SPEAKER_00: But I was like, no, I committed to this target life.
9:25
SPEAKER_00: I committed to New York City, I'm gonna do it.
9:28
SPEAKER_00: New York City is not gonna eat me alive, and it didn't, but I also knew it was eating my soul because I wanted to be on the beach and I wanted to surf and I wanted to not have to go into work at seven and get home at 7 p.m.
9:42
SPEAKER_00: when it's already dark, wanted to see the sunshine.
9:45
SPEAKER_00: I was working in a basement for 12 hours a day.
9:47
SPEAKER_00: A basement.
9:49
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in New York City, the targets are in the basement because you don't have any space.
9:53
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I didn't see sunlight for months.
9:58
SPEAKER_02: Dude, that's even worse than mine was.
10:00
SPEAKER_02: You know, I I lived in New York, obviously, for a few years.
10:03
SPEAKER_02: Maybe very similar story.
10:04
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
10:05
SPEAKER_02: What's crazy is so many people that I end up working with have very, very similar stories.
10:10
SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I always talk about how when I worked in corporate back in New York, I had I did have a window.
10:17
SPEAKER_02: I was on, I don't know, I think maybe the fifth floor or something.
10:20
SPEAKER_02: But across the street was a huge skyscraper.
10:23
SPEAKER_02: And the only time the sun would hit my desk was between like 12:15 and 1.15.
10:28
SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
10:29
SPEAKER_02: So I would take late lunch breaks just so that I could have the sun on my desk and I could go outside.
10:34
SPEAKER_02: Right.
10:35
SPEAKER_00: And that's when I was like, this is bad.
10:37
SPEAKER_00: And then also New York City fresh air really is in fresh air.
10:40
SPEAKER_02: It's not fresh air, it's like the pizza ovens blowing, whatever.
10:44
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, okay.
10:45
SPEAKER_02: I need a palm tree, please.
10:47
SPEAKER_02: Or just a tree.
10:48
SPEAKER_02: Like a tree.
10:50
SPEAKER_02: Asking for bare minimum here.
10:52
SPEAKER_02: So true.
10:53
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you had this situation in New York where sounds like you were making good money, you had a super respectable, um, um, prestigious job, especially at such a young age.
11:04
SPEAKER_02: I'm sure that you felt, I'm sure your ego was loving that.
11:07
SPEAKER_02: And I bet your families did too.
11:09
SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
11:10
SPEAKER_02: Um, so that was all great, but then you were like, oh, maybe I want to do something else.
11:15
SPEAKER_02: I want more sunshine.
11:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
11:17
SPEAKER_02: What else did you want?
11:18
SPEAKER_00: I wanted more sunshine.
11:20
SPEAKER_00: I wanted more freedom with my time.
11:22
SPEAKER_00: I am not a morning person whatsoever.
11:25
SPEAKER_00: I should do my best work at night.
11:27
SPEAKER_00: So, and no one works at night.
11:30
SPEAKER_00: It's a nine to five or seven to seven in my case.
11:33
SPEAKER_00: So that's no time seven to seven.
11:36
SPEAKER_00: And like sometimes I was called in at like 2 30 in the morning because of emergencies because I was that high up.
11:42
SPEAKER_00: Target emergency.
11:43
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, fridges going out, burglar alarm coming off, all that kind of stuff.
11:47
SPEAKER_00: So Ubering at 2 30 in the morning to work is pro was also probably one of the hardest parts.
11:53
SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
11:54
SPEAKER_00: Um, but again, I was good at it.
11:56
SPEAKER_00: It was like the machines that were going off, wasn't me.
11:59
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:00
SPEAKER_00: Pat myself on the back at all.
12:02
SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, and I pivoted from Target because I was like, well, maybe it's just Target that I'm not liking.
12:11
SPEAKER_00: And more freedom, more of like a nine to five rather than a seven to seven.
12:16
SPEAKER_00: And so pivoted to working at a consulting firm and I was nine to five because I was in the operational side of it, event planning.
12:24
SPEAKER_00: And even then, I was like, this still isn't what I want.
12:29
SPEAKER_00: And so went into a master's program because like you're 24 and you're having questions your entire life.
12:37
SPEAKER_00: And so I was like, maybe it's maybe it's schooling that I need to.
12:41
SPEAKER_00: And I love school, I love learning.
12:42
SPEAKER_00: Sure.
12:43
SPEAKER_00: So doing that, and then in the middle of my master's program, I was like, I have been following Krista for four years now, and I just need to take the leap.
12:53
SPEAKER_00: You had a deal going on, and I went for it, and I worked really hard that summer when I had a break between school and was working really hard on that business, and then I went back into school because I was also working and doing school at the same time.
13:07
SPEAKER_00: So two full-time jobs, quote unquote.
13:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which was crazy.
13:13
SPEAKER_00: So the my digital nomad life had to take a back burner yet again.
13:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
13:18
SPEAKER_00: And what were the two jobs?
13:21
SPEAKER_00: Um, two jobs meaning school was one job and my uh operations job at a consulting firm.
13:28
SPEAKER_02: Uh and you then also joined the DNL in the middle of my master's, which is kind of like a third job.
13:36
SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's not a job because you're building business, but it's a huge, it's a huge project.
13:40
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's and it's time out of your day.
13:42
SPEAKER_00: So I'd come home from my first job and work on DNLA or study for whatever test I was going for or project and fitting in where I could.
13:53
SPEAKER_00: And it got so hectic that it took a little bit of a back burner.
13:58
SPEAKER_00: And then finally I graduated and I was like, no, we're doing this.
14:01
SPEAKER_02: I'm getting a little flashback of your Zoom image.
14:05
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like your like your image on Zoom.
14:07
SPEAKER_02: I can literally see what like the background of your, like, I don't know if this is your bedroom or something, what it looked like.
14:12
SPEAKER_02: Um, and because you know, when I'm in Bali, the time difference is crazy.
14:17
SPEAKER_02: And sometimes I do really late calls or really early calls.
14:20
SPEAKER_02: And so then sometimes when uh East Coast people are on those calls, I'm like, what time is it for you?
14:25
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
14:26
SPEAKER_00: I was taking those, I think like 10 p.m., 8 p.m., something like that.
14:30
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
14:30
SPEAKER_00: I had a sick apartment in New York City too.
14:33
SPEAKER_00: So like you have all of the things on paper and you're just still not wanting what it is.
14:40
SPEAKER_02: Can we take a moment of silence for that?
14:42
SPEAKER_02: Of having the things on paper and it's still not being it.
14:46
SPEAKER_02: When we spoke earlier about uh, well, we were just kind of like prepping for this episode.
14:51
SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, you said you can still be good at your job.
14:56
SPEAKER_02: And I think what you're saying, you can still like and appreciate a lot of parts of your life and still want something different.
15:03
SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
15:04
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
15:04
SPEAKER_02: And I think giving people permission to want something different is really important.
15:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
15:11
SPEAKER_00: I think like the mantra that I said after that is like, you can live a thousand lives.
15:15
SPEAKER_00: And like I was living the New York City lifestyle and I was loving it, and it also wasn't what I wanted for the rest of my life.
15:24
SPEAKER_00: So, where do I pivot?
15:25
SPEAKER_00: How can I live my next life?
15:27
SPEAKER_00: What does my next life look like?
15:28
SPEAKER_00: And this doesn't no matter what my next life wanted to look like.
15:32
SPEAKER_02: I love that concept of living a thousand lives.
15:35
SPEAKER_02: Um, I also feel like I have lived a thousand lives, and one of them being in New York City in your 20s is the bomb.
15:43
SPEAKER_02: Like, oh my gosh.
15:43
SPEAKER_02: Oh, it is so fun.
15:45
SPEAKER_02: So fun.
15:46
SPEAKER_02: So fun.
15:46
SPEAKER_02: And also for me, there was a time limit on that, and sounds like it was for you too.
15:52
SPEAKER_00: I even knew that going into moving new into New York.
15:55
SPEAKER_00: I was like, I think I can only do this for like five or seven years.
15:58
SPEAKER_00: It was never a long-term thing for me.
16:01
SPEAKER_00: I've also moved a lot in my life.
16:02
SPEAKER_00: So five to seven years is kind of what we call the family itch, where we get like between five and seven years, my family always moves.
16:10
SPEAKER_00: So I think we also lived a thousand lives even when I was growing up, because I lived in California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and New York.
16:19
SPEAKER_00: Damn.
16:20
SPEAKER_00: So, and all of those are different lives of mine.
16:23
SPEAKER_00: So it's just again, I'm pivoting, living a different lifestyle.
16:27
SPEAKER_00: You don't, and you can love every single one of your lives.
16:30
SPEAKER_00: I loved living in Ohio, loved living in Pennsylvania.
16:32
SPEAKER_00: I loved Florida, also hated Florida in some ways, but like you can love, hate, and still want something else, and that's okay to want something else.
16:41
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that there's this mentality that a lot of people have of like, oh, if you have a good job, you should just be grateful for that job.
16:48
SPEAKER_02: And especially right now with the job market.
16:50
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, totally.
16:51
SPEAKER_02: The job market is changing so much.
16:53
SPEAKER_02: It is crazy.
16:54
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
16:55
SPEAKER_02: Which to me, I think that is all the more reason to start your business right now.
17:00
SPEAKER_02: We just like don't know what the future of work is gonna look like.
17:03
SPEAKER_02: Anybody that's projecting it, they're just they're just projecting their ideas.
17:08
SPEAKER_02: We don't actually know.
17:10
SPEAKER_02: But um, yeah, for me, having full control over your career and over your income and being able to pivot when things change is so key.
17:20
SPEAKER_02: And live wherever you want to.
17:21
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
17:22
SPEAKER_02: Yes, because God knows that sometimes the country that you live in can have problems, and then you might want to live somewhere else, you know.
17:31
SPEAKER_02: That's okay.
17:32
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it is totally okay.
17:34
SPEAKER_02: We're just people on a planet, we are little bags of stardust hurling through space and how wonderful that is.
17:42
SPEAKER_02: Okay, we can't go in a little like existential back to back to the stories.
17:49
SPEAKER_02: So, this concept of pivoting was another thing that we spoke about a lot before we actually started recordings.
17:55
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you were in school and then you decided that you were like, okay, it's time I want to build this business.
18:03
SPEAKER_02: I've been following this podcast, I've been dreaming of this lifestyle for years.
18:07
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's time to get it done.
18:10
SPEAKER_02: So I would even say that um, like it still is a pretty big pivot to go from being like, okay, I'm a master's student to I'm starting my own business.
18:20
SPEAKER_02: Um, because we didn't talk about this, but like when you go into a master's program, the business program that you were in, was there some kind of like trajectory that was expected of you or projected for you in that program?
18:35
SPEAKER_00: I think in most programs, yes.
18:37
SPEAKER_00: There's a specific outcome that most people are looking for.
18:40
SPEAKER_00: Mine is super broad.
18:42
SPEAKER_00: So a lot of people were going a lot of different directions.
18:45
SPEAKER_00: But I think strategic designer, like that job title, strategic designer was the main goal of most people's outcome of that degree.
18:55
SPEAKER_00: And that just wasn't mine.
18:57
SPEAKER_00: Like again, it sounds so cool on paper.
18:59
SPEAKER_00: And I did look at jobs at as being a strategic designer.
19:03
SPEAKER_00: I applied to jobs being a strategic designer within that after my master's degree.
19:08
SPEAKER_00: I was like, I don't, I don't even still think that aligns.
19:12
SPEAKER_00: So I'm I love again, I love learning and I love my master's degree, but it wasn't where I wanted to take my master's degree, and my school was like actually pretty open to a lot of that.
19:25
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
19:25
SPEAKER_00: Um, my capstan project uh is also a second business that I have that I I don't think I've mentioned to you before.
19:33
SPEAKER_00: Um it's called Tomorrow Tools, it's a conversational tarot.
19:37
SPEAKER_00: Yes, no, I know I know about this.
19:38
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:39
SPEAKER_00: Okay, I did talk about it.
19:40
SPEAKER_00: I was like, I'm throwing you a curveball right now.
19:43
SPEAKER_00: Um but I that's still a business now.
19:47
SPEAKER_00: Cool.
19:47
SPEAKER_00: Um, and we're still doing workshops on that too.
19:50
SPEAKER_00: So I think if you're smart, you use the capstone project as a business starter.
19:55
SPEAKER_00: Very cool.
19:56
SPEAKER_00: Love that.
19:57
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
19:58
SPEAKER_02: Um, this concept of business starter is a concept that I share about a lot in my coaching.
20:05
SPEAKER_02: So just for the listeners, if you're not familiar with the work that I do and the kind of people that I work with, obviously Aliyah is uh someone that I work with.
20:13
SPEAKER_02: And you maybe were like you probably were a little bit more, I don't know, um, business savvy, let's say, than a lot of my clients.
20:26
SPEAKER_02: Um educationally trained though.
20:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, not quite the same as having your own business.
20:31
SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, we should totally talk about that too.
20:33
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
20:34
SPEAKER_02: So a concept that I bring to my clients a lot is this concept of a business bridge, is what I call it, where when you start your first business, it doesn't have to be your last business.
20:44
SPEAKER_02: And it doesn't have to be your only business.
20:46
SPEAKER_02: No, it's just your first business that gives you a taste of business.
20:52
SPEAKER_02: And with that first taste of business, you end up learning so much, and that empowers you to go on to do something else.
20:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the confidence too.
21:00
SPEAKER_00: That that confidence in like, okay, I can give to my clients, I can outperform and be good at my job.
21:07
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
21:08
SPEAKER_02: So you did that capstone project, which sounds super cool.
21:11
SPEAKER_02: Um how did you end up doing what you're doing now?
21:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
21:16
SPEAKER_00: So, like I said, I'm educationally trained in business.
21:19
SPEAKER_00: Um, and my parents owned businesses growing up too.
21:22
SPEAKER_00: So I kind of already knew I wanted to be a business owner for a very long time.
21:26
SPEAKER_00: I just didn't know what that was going to be.
21:28
SPEAKER_00: Tomorrow Tools was a little out of left field because of my master's degree, but it's absolutely something I'm really passionate about just because of the work life balance and workplace relationships are so difficult, especially now.
21:44
SPEAKER_00: So it's building that.
21:46
SPEAKER_00: And I actually did that business starter within the digital nomad community.
21:52
SPEAKER_00: I started as a virtual assistant.
21:54
SPEAKER_00: And so that's more admin-based, more task-based.
21:58
SPEAKER_00: Your client is giving you a one, two, three to tick off.
22:03
SPEAKER_00: And this chief of staff is my first pivot out of virtual assistance.
22:10
SPEAKER_00: And so again, that's another pivot, but it's that starter that got me the confidence that I was able to build a business and give to my clients and be successful at it.
22:21
SPEAKER_00: And so now I feel confident enough to pivot and start offering a more strategic and niche kind of role for my clients.
22:31
SPEAKER_02: Nice.
22:32
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
22:33
SPEAKER_02: When we first started working together in the DNLA, did were you already a virtual assistant at the time?
22:39
SPEAKER_00: No.
22:40
SPEAKER_00: Um, because our career assessment, you gave me a business consultant kind of style.
22:47
SPEAKER_00: And uh as we said, I really can't stand the word consultant.
22:52
SPEAKER_00: Um, my second job in New York City was working at a consulting firm.
22:56
SPEAKER_00: And I went into that job also thinking I wanted to transition into a business consultant.
23:02
SPEAKER_00: Again, living a thousand lives within like one.
23:05
SPEAKER_00: But I saw the business consultants at my company's lifestyle.
23:09
SPEAKER_00: They were working nonstop.
23:12
SPEAKER_00: They would come to the office at 7 a.m., leave 7 p.m., go home, shower, maybe work out, and then work until like three or four in the morning because that's what was required of them.
23:24
SPEAKER_00: I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
23:27
SPEAKER_00: I don't want that lifestyle.
23:28
SPEAKER_00: And so that consultant lifestyle and also just kind of the jargon that they use in consulting, specifically in the company that I was in.
23:37
SPEAKER_00: Ooh, it like gives me like shivers.
23:40
SPEAKER_00: I like hate it.
23:41
SPEAKER_00: I hate the oh, I'm a consultant kind of thing.
23:44
SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, so you still don't do it.
23:48
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
23:49
SPEAKER_02: Um, I want to kind of zoom in to the memories around the career assessment because I I talk about this a lot on the podcast.
23:57
SPEAKER_02: But if anyone is new here, I'll just um briefly describe this service that I offer at the very beginning of my client's time in the digital home at Life Academy.
24:07
SPEAKER_02: It's actually optional because a lot of people do come into the DNLA knowing what business they want to create.
24:14
SPEAKER_02: And also a lot of people don't know what business they want to create.
24:17
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
24:17
SPEAKER_02: So people that come to me and they know they want to be an entrepreneur, they know they want to work online, but they don't know what business to start, they'll sign up for a career assessment.
24:26
SPEAKER_02: I have my clients fill up this very robust, if you can vouch for this.
24:30
SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
24:31
SPEAKER_02: A very, very robust.
24:32
SPEAKER_02: It's an Excel sheet.
24:33
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
24:33
SPEAKER_02: Get into it.
24:34
SPEAKER_02: It's like a hardcore questionnaire.
24:36
SPEAKER_02: We go over your likes, dislikes, curiosities, interests, things that you've never tried, but would be open-minded to, um, major life experiences.
24:48
SPEAKER_02: Um, do you like this idea if you knew how to if you knew how to do it?
24:54
SPEAKER_02: Like I'm really just asked, leaving no stone unturned.
24:57
SPEAKER_00: How long do you remember how long it took you to fill it out?
25:00
SPEAKER_00: I definitely broke it up just because I was doing so much.
25:03
SPEAKER_00: Oh, you can't do it all in one sitting.
25:04
SPEAKER_00: No, no.
25:05
SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, I think like at least two and a half hours.
25:09
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
25:09
SPEAKER_02: I feel like that's actually pretty quick, but yeah.
25:12
SPEAKER_02: So it's an hours long project where you're surfacing a lot about yourself.
25:17
SPEAKER_02: Once my clients fill that out, then when we get on a Zoom call, I can just have the sheet in front of me.
25:23
SPEAKER_02: And then that helps me to ask pointed questions and like get to the good stuff quickly.
25:30
SPEAKER_02: There's no small talk on this conversation.
25:32
SPEAKER_02: No.
25:32
SPEAKER_02: Um, and then also on for the client.
25:34
SPEAKER_02: Client, like from your perspective, every question that I asked you, you had already thought about the answer very recently.
25:42
SPEAKER_02: So it was just like a very like quick, quick, quick, quick, quick conversation.
25:46
SPEAKER_02: And um, so that's how it works.
25:48
SPEAKER_02: And in this conversation I had with you a couple of years ago now, um, I had suggested to you being a business consultant because that is what I saw.
25:59
SPEAKER_02: And like, by the way, I'm not just looking at your educational experience, right?
26:05
SPEAKER_02: Like it was also, there were all these parts of your personality that I thought would lend itself really well to that.
26:11
SPEAKER_02: And I didn't know that you had a distaste for the word consultant.
26:16
SPEAKER_02: So I just said what I saw.
26:18
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
26:19
SPEAKER_02: And um, and so now you're saying, like, okay, the word consultant, you just still kind of like cringed at you're like, I can't do that.
26:26
SPEAKER_00: Still locked up, yeah.
26:27
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
26:28
SPEAKER_02: So then, so what happened from when I suggested the career of when I suggested business consulting on the career assessment?
26:34
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
26:35
SPEAKER_02: Cause now what you're doing is kind of like business consulting.
26:41
SPEAKER_02: It's like pretty much exactly what you're doing.
26:43
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
26:43
SPEAKER_02: But you don't have to call yourself that.
26:45
SPEAKER_02: You can call yourself whatever you want.
26:46
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
26:47
SPEAKER_02: Um, but uh yeah, so how did you go from having resistance to the idea to actually coming up with um a title that felt aligned for you?
26:57
SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
26:57
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it did take me years to get to where I am now.
27:02
SPEAKER_00: And I think for a few months I struggled with that word consultant.
27:06
SPEAKER_00: And I knew right away that that was the word that I was really struggling with.
27:10
SPEAKER_00: It wasn't business, it wasn't offering services at all.
27:14
SPEAKER_00: It was that word.
27:16
SPEAKER_00: And so I played around with strategist, I played around with operational manager, um, kind of pivoting different directions to see what felt right in me.
27:27
SPEAKER_00: And I still just like couldn't find it.
27:29
SPEAKER_00: And so that's where I started that virtual assistant because I was like, I just need to start, just need to start a business.
27:35
SPEAKER_00: I just need the confidence and the experience.
27:38
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
27:40
SPEAKER_00: Make that first one.
27:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
27:41
SPEAKER_00: And then one of our friends in the Digital Madlife Academy was a virtual assistant coach.
27:47
SPEAKER_00: So I think she also saw that in me, was like, I think that could be a good move for you, especially just to get moving, start the action.
27:55
SPEAKER_00: I was just such an anxiety thing around that consultant word because I just didn't want to be anything like them.
28:03
SPEAKER_00: And so I did a year of virtual assistants and I found that chief of staff because chiefs of staffs work really closely with virtual assistants or executive assistant, whatever it is.
28:14
SPEAKER_00: Um, and that role felt so aligned.
28:18
SPEAKER_00: I did so much research around it and wanting to make sure that I filled all of those holes within what's required of that title.
28:27
SPEAKER_00: And again, it is so similar to a business consultant in many ways.
28:32
SPEAKER_00: I am a business consultant, but oh, I can't do it.
28:35
SPEAKER_02: Well, now it's like you get to call yourself whatever it is that you want.
28:40
SPEAKER_02: And if you want to ditch the term because society has decided that this term means this, means this way, yeah, then you are free to ditch the term, right?
28:51
SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
28:52
SPEAKER_02: But um, what you shared with me before we started recording was that it was originally actually your dream to be a consultant.
29:00
SPEAKER_02: It was so why was that originally your dream?
29:03
SPEAKER_02: Like, what was it that you knew about yourself that you were like, oh, I could be a consultant?
29:07
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think I'm both able to do the nitty-gritty and be in the trenches with the business and just get shit done.
29:20
SPEAKER_00: For lack of a better word, I don't know if I'm allowed to swear.
29:22
SPEAKER_00: I swear all the fucking time.
29:23
SPEAKER_00: Okay, perfect.
29:24
SPEAKER_00: Um, and but also be able to see aerially, yeah.
29:32
SPEAKER_00: Uh so that I can see from the CEO's point of view as well as the customers, as well as just the collective in general.
29:42
SPEAKER_00: Um I think through every every little detail of that.
29:47
SPEAKER_00: So I I knew business was kind of where I was gonna go.
29:52
SPEAKER_00: And I knew consultant would be a good role for me because I can be nitty-gritty and also aerial.
30:00
SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, that's my answer.
30:03
SPEAKER_00: Okay, cool.
30:04
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, love it.
30:05
SPEAKER_02: Um, I just wanted to point that out because on these career assessments, like I just for any listener that maybe is curious about like participating in this kind of experience, just so you know, I frankly don't actually care what you end up going into.
30:23
SPEAKER_02: Like, it's I'm completely neutral.
30:25
SPEAKER_02: Like if I throw out an idea and then the person doesn't like it, I'm not offended by it.
30:30
SPEAKER_02: I'm not here to dish out ideas just so that my clients can stroke my ego and tell me that I have great ideas.
30:37
SPEAKER_02: What I'm doing is literally just looking at the facts.
30:40
SPEAKER_02: I'm like, okay, this is what you say that you like.
30:44
SPEAKER_02: This is what you say that you are good at.
30:46
SPEAKER_02: And I'm just gonna reflect back what is possible for that.
30:49
SPEAKER_02: So what's interesting is like you, you kind of knew all along.
30:54
SPEAKER_02: You kind of knew all along that you had these qualities and these interests.
30:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
30:59
SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's just interesting that actually it sounds like the disconnect was literally just the way that you position yourself so that you don't have to fit into the box that society puts these people into.
31:13
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
31:14
SPEAKER_02: So you get to do the same things, like be organized, be doing the nitty-gritty, like seeing things from a high level, yeah, offering structure and support.
31:23
SPEAKER_02: Um, and you just get to call yourself something that now when people hear that you're a chief of staff, they don't see you wearing a blazer and like being all stressed out and working 80 hours a week because that's what we know consultants do.
31:38
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
31:39
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
31:39
SPEAKER_00: And it's the the jargon.
31:41
SPEAKER_00: Like I don't want to throw jargon at my clients.
31:43
SPEAKER_00: I want to be real with them.
31:45
SPEAKER_00: And I do want to say the career assessment, even if I locked up from the consulting, it's so validating to get that career assessment, even if you have an inkling of what you think you should do.
32:01
SPEAKER_00: I think it's incredibly helpful and worth the money.
32:05
SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm not getting paid to say this.
32:07
SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
32:07
SPEAKER_00: But um like it's worth it to just get that again, that double check of like, I can do this.
32:14
SPEAKER_00: I can have a digital nomad life because I'm capable of doing this job.
32:19
SPEAKER_00: And it was that identity that I needed to work on because that consultant identity wasn't what I wanted to align with, and this fractional chief of staff is what I do want to align my identity with.
32:31
SPEAKER_02: Why do you think people need external validation for this kind of thing?
32:37
SPEAKER_02: Because I completely agree.
32:39
SPEAKER_02: Like I know that there are layers to the value that I provide when I do the career assessments.
32:48
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
32:48
SPEAKER_02: I know that it's valuable for me to give someone an idea.
32:51
SPEAKER_02: I know it's valuable for me to reflect back to them what their talents are.
32:56
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
32:56
SPEAKER_02: Um, but I also know that underneath that, I'm not really like, you know, in the in the marketing messaging of like, here's what you get when you book a career assessment.
33:07
SPEAKER_02: I'm not saying sometimes you just need permission to, you know, say yes to what you actually want.
33:15
SPEAKER_02: Sometimes you already know what it is that you want, and you just need another person to echo that.
33:21
SPEAKER_02: Um, so I know that that's a big part of the value that you get when you do it, but I'm curious why you felt like that was an important aspect for you or why you think other people also might need that.
33:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I felt like I was so young at the time of like, oh, I'm just starting out.
33:39
SPEAKER_00: I got a a master's in creative business in a way.
33:44
SPEAKER_00: And I still didn't feel like I had the experience and the quality and the talents to do that.
33:50
SPEAKER_00: But for you to be able to see that just on paper, too.
33:55
SPEAKER_00: Like we were we were talking with it with that Excel spreadsheet of my life um written down.
34:03
SPEAKER_00: But you being able to see that both on paper and having a conversation with me is so validating.
34:09
SPEAKER_00: And you everyone needs validation.
34:11
SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
34:12
SPEAKER_00: Like they need validation for different things, and you can give that to yourself.
34:16
SPEAKER_00: And I think some people are very capable of doing that.
34:20
SPEAKER_00: But I think in business, it's all about confidence, it's all about your identity and who you align align with as and who you want to be in a future self, and someone's seeing that already.
34:32
SPEAKER_00: So it's it's almost like you were seen into my future, and that's nice.
34:37
SPEAKER_00: Here we are.
34:38
SPEAKER_00: That's nice.
34:38
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and here we are.
34:40
SPEAKER_02: You actually being on the podcast talking about how you're doing something really similar.
34:46
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so uh crazy.
34:48
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, wow, it is nuts.
34:50
SPEAKER_02: So that is so great, so great that uh that was kind of like kick started the whole yeah direction that you that you moved in.
34:59
SPEAKER_02: So I guess I want to pivot a little bit.
35:01
SPEAKER_02: I have my notes in front of me to mention the mastermind that you were in, um, or that you, I guess, technically are still in.
35:10
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
35:10
SPEAKER_02: Um, so the Digital Nomad Life Academy is obviously the program that you were in, which is what we've been talking about, where you start off with the career assessment and then you kind of go through the program and you learn how to build a business.
35:22
SPEAKER_02: And it's a specific kind of business that everybody's building.
35:25
SPEAKER_02: Everyone's building not necessarily a fractional chief of staff business, but people are building consulting businesses, designing businesses, or organizing businesses, planning businesses, editing, whatever, like any service, coaching, any service um based business is what you learn how to build in the DNLA.
35:45
SPEAKER_02: So the educational aspect of it is huge, but there's also another aspect of it, which is community.
35:52
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
35:52
SPEAKER_02: And I'm curious to hear your take on how the community aspect affected your movement throughout the program and in your life.
36:03
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
36:03
SPEAKER_00: Um, one, the community is probably the highest value, I, in my opinion, of the DNL, because if you surround yourself with people who are trying to do the same things, you guys will go so much further.
36:14
SPEAKER_00: Um, and again, that mastermind, you set us up all together.
36:18
SPEAKER_00: We answered a few questions.
36:20
SPEAKER_00: It was not as long as you're a career assessment question at all.
36:24
SPEAKER_00: Answered a few questions, time zone based, all of that kind of stuff.
36:27
SPEAKER_00: Honestly, it's vibes.
36:29
SPEAKER_00: It is vibes, it's vibes, vibes and a little bit of luck, and I like it.
36:34
SPEAKER_02: If anybody doesn't know, actually, would you describe what a mastermind is?
36:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so it is a assigned group that you get within the Digital Nomad Life Academy to help you have more of a smaller knit within this big community that you have, um, and to help push each other more personally, individually, that and it's almost like your own little cheerleading group that you get to have because you become so close because you talk every week or every month, whatever you set it at.
37:05
SPEAKER_00: So that you can just continue to cheer on, get some sounding board.
37:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was a big long-winded answer.
37:11
SPEAKER_02: But that's okay.
37:12
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
37:13
SPEAKER_02: So just to put a little bit more context into this for the listeners if you've never done it.
37:17
SPEAKER_02: So, as you said, the value of the mastermind is just there's it's actually there's so much value that goes into it, but really just having people that you can rely on that will hold you accountable, that will reflect things back to you, calm you down if you're freaking out.
37:34
SPEAKER_02: Like there's just a lot.
37:35
SPEAKER_02: And ultimately you develop a friendship because these people are all super like-minded.
37:40
SPEAKER_02: So everybody has the same goal, which is to build a service-based business.
37:44
SPEAKER_02: And then you um, well, you fill out some questions, and then I say, okay, you're in these time zones, and this is generally what you want.
37:53
SPEAKER_02: But also, I'm like, oh, these girls would like totally be friends.
37:56
SPEAKER_02: And like, I feel like I feel like these two people can kind of play off of each other's talents and strengths and whatever.
38:01
SPEAKER_02: So I match you with three other people.
38:04
SPEAKER_02: Some sometimes four, but yeah, usually it's like a group of four people.
38:08
SPEAKER_02: Um, and then, you know, just set the rules where if you want to be in this group, the intention is that you meet as a at a designated time every week, two weeks, every month, depending on how your group feels good about it.
38:22
SPEAKER_02: And um, the container, the official container is three months.
38:27
SPEAKER_02: But you're obviously you're welcome to keep doing as long as you want.
38:30
SPEAKER_00: And now you're still years long.
38:33
SPEAKER_00: Years later.
38:34
SPEAKER_00: So crazy.
38:35
SPEAKER_00: We have our have group chats going where we've all met in person one way or another.
38:41
SPEAKER_00: Actually, I haven't met Lucy and Morgan.
38:44
SPEAKER_00: So but you will this week.
38:45
SPEAKER_00: I will because you're here in Bali, and they're here too.
38:48
SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited.
38:49
SPEAKER_00: So three out of the four of us are in Bali.
38:51
SPEAKER_02: Wait, actually, do you know what's crazy is um the all the girls that you're in the mastermind with Lucy, Morgan, and Nomalie, um, all have been on the podcast.
39:02
SPEAKER_02: That's because they've all been here.
39:04
SPEAKER_02: So it's so cool that you're here now, just kind of like completing that circle.
39:08
SPEAKER_02: Power crew.
39:10
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
39:10
SPEAKER_00: And we're all doing amazing.
39:12
SPEAKER_00: We're yeah, and No Emily right now is in Colombia, and the three of us are in Bali.
39:17
SPEAKER_00: Morgan's been all over the place recently.
39:19
SPEAKER_00: So Morgan's been all around the place.
39:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
39:22
SPEAKER_00: And I do want to say this.
39:23
SPEAKER_00: I specifically remember when No Emily was kind of teetering on that taking that big leap of fully being nomadic.
39:33
SPEAKER_00: I actually pushed her to make that call with her boss.
39:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
39:37
SPEAKER_00: She was talking about it.
39:38
SPEAKER_00: She's like, I just need to talk to her, like, see how this is going.
39:41
SPEAKER_00: But this, this, and this is happening in the business right now.
39:45
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, girl, you just need to book that call.
39:49
SPEAKER_00: And she did.
39:50
SPEAKER_00: And that's how she's nomadic right now.
39:52
SPEAKER_02: And that's on the value of your mastermind.
39:55
SPEAKER_02: Hell yeah.
39:55
SPEAKER_02: No, you did that.
39:56
SPEAKER_02: I I did that.
39:57
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you did that.
39:58
SPEAKER_02: I'm taking a little bit of that credit.
40:00
SPEAKER_02: You get to take some credit, sure.
40:02
SPEAKER_02: Um, uh, yeah, that that is that is the value of the mastermind.
40:05
SPEAKER_02: Like, oh, wait.
40:08
SPEAKER_02: Well, I wanted to ask you what do you think your life would look like or be like if one, you hadn't had the mastermind, and two, if you hadn't done the DNL, and three, if you hadn't done the career assessment.
40:22
SPEAKER_00: I'd still be in New York City on the city.
40:25
SPEAKER_00: Cold.
40:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
40:27
SPEAKER_00: I know.
40:27
SPEAKER_00: I think, especially now, I had one more year on my um lease before it went up in price.
40:36
SPEAKER_00: Um, because New York City rent goes up every year no matter what.
40:40
SPEAKER_00: Um but it was gonna jump again in next year.
40:44
SPEAKER_00: Yikes.
40:45
SPEAKER_00: So I think I probably would have held on to my New York City apartment for another year at least.
40:51
SPEAKER_00: And I would be cold right now because it's veridic.
40:54
SPEAKER_00: It would be so cold.
40:55
SPEAKER_00: It's so cold.
40:56
SPEAKER_00: Literally still in the same job with the same friends, doing the same thing.
41:00
SPEAKER_00: That's just not what I wanted.
41:02
SPEAKER_00: Which probably would have been fine.
41:04
SPEAKER_00: Again, totally fine.
41:05
SPEAKER_00: Fine, totally fine.
41:06
SPEAKER_00: I'm fine.
41:07
SPEAKER_00: I had great friends, great apartment, great job.
41:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
41:09
SPEAKER_02: No one's saying that it no no one's saying that it wasn't good.
41:12
SPEAKER_00: No.
41:13
SPEAKER_02: I I know I like talk shit basically about my about my New York experience all the time.
41:19
SPEAKER_02: But I please, I hope you understand.
41:21
SPEAKER_02: It is also partly because of my marketing.
41:23
SPEAKER_02: Like, I just want to point out that, like, you know, there you can have complaints about your life and not have it be all bad.
41:32
SPEAKER_02: Like, I still, I still love New York.
41:34
SPEAKER_02: I still try to go back every single year.
41:36
SPEAKER_02: I saw you in New York.
41:37
SPEAKER_02: We got to meet up, like um, rooftop where we went to the city.
41:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
41:41
SPEAKER_00: Where was it?
41:42
SPEAKER_02: And then we went to this cute Italian restaurant in Little Italy.
41:44
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
41:45
SPEAKER_02: And we were with Haley, another girl that's in the DNLA.
41:48
SPEAKER_02: Do you know what?
41:49
SPEAKER_02: I think you I think I've met 55 clients that have come through the DNLA.
41:56
SPEAKER_00: Wow.
41:56
SPEAKER_02: Which is insane.
41:58
SPEAKER_02: It helps because like so many of them come here like you're here.
42:02
SPEAKER_02: Um, but also I travel, and so then I end up getting to go to their places too.
42:06
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
42:07
SPEAKER_00: You have community across the world just by being in that digital mad life academy.
42:11
SPEAKER_02: You really, really do.
42:13
SPEAKER_02: Have you met anybody else from the DNLA?
42:16
SPEAKER_02: Who have I met?
42:17
SPEAKER_02: Well, you met Haley because we all had anywhere.
42:20
SPEAKER_00: And oh gosh, I'm totally blanking.
42:25
SPEAKER_00: But I've definitely also just like talked to people online.
42:29
SPEAKER_00: Like someone was like, hey, I'm interested in what you're doing, fractional assistant or VA or whatever it was, and just talk to them over Zoom or cool meeter, whatever that was.
42:39
SPEAKER_00: So I think yes.
42:41
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
42:43
SPEAKER_00: I think just like by Zoom, I think I talk to a few of them.
42:47
SPEAKER_02: Cool too.
42:47
SPEAKER_02: Love it.
42:48
SPEAKER_02: Community just makes all the difference when you're trying to make a change in your life.
42:52
SPEAKER_02: I think I I have little whole episodes in this podcast dedicated entirely to community.
42:58
SPEAKER_02: It's just crazy.
42:59
SPEAKER_02: Um, so another thing is that you mentioned to me before is like that you've gone on and you've been coached not just from the DNLA, but you've just it sounds like you're someone that believes in the concept of coaching.
43:14
SPEAKER_02: And I'm curious if you were had you considered having a coach before joining the DNLA?
43:22
SPEAKER_00: I think I was newer to the concepts of having a coach to build a business or having I knew there was business coaches once you already had one.
43:33
SPEAKER_00: Knew there was like fitness coaches and all of that kind of stuff.
43:36
SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm more than willing to spend money on learning, learning in typical college postgrad, all of that kind of stuff.
43:45
SPEAKER_00: And then, but finding that there was one to help you build the business, I think was a newer experience.
43:52
SPEAKER_00: But I but once I heard about it, I was like, yeah, that makes sense.
43:56
SPEAKER_00: It's like I everyone needs a little bit of help to start something, yeah, for sure.
44:01
SPEAKER_02: Well, people in the DNL anyway.
44:03
SPEAKER_02: What I love about the community is it's everybody is such a big dreamer.
44:10
SPEAKER_00: Yes, you know, oh, it feels so good.
44:12
SPEAKER_00: It's the growth mindset, growth mindset.
44:17
SPEAKER_02: We we're gonna talk about that too.
44:19
SPEAKER_02: Yes, yeah, about like just what you are calling in for your business this year.
44:24
SPEAKER_02: It's obviously the beginning of the new year, and um, you've just kind of kickstarted the lifestyle.
44:31
SPEAKER_02: You were, I know you were doing it before, and actually I want to talk a little bit about your lifestyle too now.
44:36
SPEAKER_02: Um, and we do still have time, so great.
44:38
SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, this growth mindset.
44:41
SPEAKER_02: What are you calling in for your business this year?
44:44
SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh, I want a big fish client.
44:46
SPEAKER_00: I want to spend majority of my time working with this client, really build a strong foundation.
44:53
SPEAKER_00: Um, I have kind of small fish right now, but and a lot of them, I think I want to kind of really focus in and hopefully also grow with that client.
45:04
SPEAKER_00: I want my client to also have a growth mindset.
45:07
SPEAKER_00: I that's one of my requirements within each of my contracts is you must have a growth mindset or you can't work with me.
45:14
SPEAKER_02: I love that you put that in your contract.
45:16
SPEAKER_02: It's in the contract.
45:17
SPEAKER_02: To me, like having a contract like that is so um like I don't know how to say this.
45:24
SPEAKER_02: It's like, it's like playing with the with the universe, if you will.
45:29
SPEAKER_02: It's almost like poking at the matrix or like poking at societal expectations and be like, okay, I'm gonna use this thing that's the societal expectations, like having a contract, like that's the most matrix-y type thing.
45:43
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
45:44
SPEAKER_02: And then for you to be like, must have a growth mindset and like sign it.
45:48
SPEAKER_02: Um initial next to it, please.
45:50
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
45:51
SPEAKER_02: I just love I love that when you have your own business, you just really get to do things your way.
45:56
SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
45:57
SPEAKER_02: And you get to have your values at the forefront of your offer, and you get to choose who you want to work with and you get to frame the expectations.
46:07
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
46:08
SPEAKER_02: And when you frame the expectations in that way, you're probably gonna end up doing badass projects with them.
46:12
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
46:13
SPEAKER_00: I've said no to projects, I've said no to marketing.
46:17
SPEAKER_00: I again I don't do any social media marketing, that's none of my wheelhouse.
46:21
SPEAKER_00: So I just flat out say no.
46:23
SPEAKER_00: And so if a client asks me, I'm like, I have great people that do social media in my community that I'm happy to pass you off to, but that's not something that I offer.
46:34
SPEAKER_00: And then I've said no to clients too that don't have the vibe or the growth mindset or the projects that I want to work on.
46:43
SPEAKER_00: And I bet when you're I bet when you're a consultant in New York, you did not get to say no.
46:48
SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
46:49
SPEAKER_00: Oh no, no, no.
46:50
SPEAKER_00: I I think if I said no, I think I would like burst into flames.
46:55
SPEAKER_00: That just wasn't an option.
46:57
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
46:58
SPEAKER_00: And now it is.
46:59
SPEAKER_00: And no feels good sometimes.
47:01
SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, it feels so good to be able to say no.
47:03
SPEAKER_00: And it's still growth because that's a boundary.
47:07
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
47:08
SPEAKER_02: Utilizing your boundaries.
47:09
SPEAKER_02: That's like why uh I feel like two-year-olds or toddlers are always saying no, no, no, because they're like, wait a minute, I'm my own person.
47:18
SPEAKER_02: I get to, I get to say yes and no to things.
47:21
SPEAKER_02: And look at this power and control that I have.
47:23
SPEAKER_02: What?
47:24
SPEAKER_02: And it's like yes, this awesome realization that you make when you're young.
47:27
SPEAKER_02: And then we somehow forget that we have the ability to do that as we get older, or we don't.
47:35
SPEAKER_02: Forget we intentionally choose to put ourselves in a situation where we don't get to say no.
47:41
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
47:42
SPEAKER_02: And I think that's actually so crazy that people don't realize that they're choosing to be in that situation.
47:50
SPEAKER_02: It's a choice.
47:51
SPEAKER_02: The choice to live that life.
47:52
SPEAKER_02: It's a choice to live that life, right?
47:54
SPEAKER_02: To to be in corporate, to have a boss.
47:57
SPEAKER_02: It's a choice to follow the rules.
48:00
SPEAKER_02: It's a choice to climb the corporate ladder, climb the corporate ladder, flow with societal expectations.
48:07
SPEAKER_02: And it's a choice to not do that.
48:12
SPEAKER_02: Um yeah.
48:13
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
48:15
SPEAKER_02: There's one more thing that we wanted to talk about.
48:17
SPEAKER_02: Well, we can pivot and talk about um well pivoting was one of the things, actually.
48:23
SPEAKER_02: We cut we kind of touched upon that.
48:24
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
48:25
SPEAKER_02: Um, no, I think I want to use the rest of our time to talk about just like the fun stuff.
48:29
SPEAKER_02: Like so you sold all your stuff this year.
48:32
SPEAKER_00: I did.
48:33
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, that was a nightmare.
48:34
SPEAKER_00: That was it so hard to do in New York.
48:38
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and especially like in August in New York, all of the students are moving in too.
48:43
SPEAKER_00: So, like everything, everything is this is a super random question.
48:48
SPEAKER_00: What did you do with your mattress?
48:50
SPEAKER_00: Dude, I left in my apartment, and my apartment will just like throw in the trap.
48:54
SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
48:54
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
48:54
SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, when I was moving out of New York, figuring out what to do with the mattress, nobody would take it.
48:59
SPEAKER_02: Goodwill wouldn't take it.
49:00
SPEAKER_02: No, like because yeah, oh my gosh, it just I was like you have to wrap it in like plastic, yeah.
49:07
SPEAKER_00: And that was just it was it was terrible.
49:08
SPEAKER_00: Anyway, I lived in a good apartment that they just dealt with it for me.
49:13
SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's very nice.
49:14
SPEAKER_00: I just left it, but I did not, yeah.
49:16
SPEAKER_00: And I in a tiny forward edge, I packed up my entire life and my cat and drove down to Florida to put my stuff in my cat in my parents' house.
49:28
SPEAKER_00: Which felt so weird and so good at the same time.
49:32
SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say, I got a little image of you like driving down to Florida being like, What am I doing?
49:37
SPEAKER_00: Like, is this really happening?
49:38
SPEAKER_00: God, I made this choice.
49:40
SPEAKER_00: Like, I gave up my apartment and my job.
49:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, were you questioning that?
49:46
SPEAKER_00: Um, or were you just so excited?
49:49
SPEAKER_00: Like, how did you feel?
49:50
SPEAKER_00: Again, it's such a whirlwind of emotions.
49:53
SPEAKER_02: How does it feel to quit your life and go create a totally new one?
49:59
SPEAKER_00: I I think it's summed up in the way that people look at you a little bit.
50:04
SPEAKER_00: Like, some people are like, Whoa, that's awesome.
50:07
SPEAKER_00: You're doing that.
50:08
SPEAKER_00: That's so cool.
50:09
SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited for you.
50:10
SPEAKER_00: Can I follow you on Instagram so that I follow your travels and all of this kind of stuff?
50:14
SPEAKER_00: Like, there are people that are just hyped for you, and I love that.
50:17
SPEAKER_00: And then other people are like, Whoa, really?
50:20
SPEAKER_00: That's what you're choosing to do.
50:22
SPEAKER_00: You had all this in New York City and all this like a master's degree and friends and the perfect New York City lifestyle.
50:32
SPEAKER_00: And what are you doing with it?
50:34
SPEAKER_00: Moving your stuff back in your parents' house.
50:37
SPEAKER_00: Oof, like the parents' house, I think was the hardest part too.
50:40
SPEAKER_00: Like, and I I love my parents, don't get me wrong, but I hadn't lived with them in five years fully, and then COVID a little bit, like between college and moving.
50:52
SPEAKER_00: So that was really hard.
50:55
SPEAKER_00: But I think my my mom is so sweet, she's like, she's not really moving in, she's leaving, she's going to Europe and in Bali and all of this kind of stuff.
51:04
SPEAKER_00: She's not actually living with us.
51:06
SPEAKER_00: And so, like, that was her own like part of protest of like she's doing this, and I'm so excited for her.
51:11
SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's so nice.
51:13
SPEAKER_00: Your parents were really supportive.
51:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
51:15
SPEAKER_00: Especially once they started, I started talking about the clients and what I was doing for each of the clients.
51:20
SPEAKER_00: They're like, Oh, yeah, you can do this.
51:23
SPEAKER_00: So it took them a little while to like warm up to the idea of me having my own business.
51:28
SPEAKER_00: But once they saw the tactical part of it and how I was helping my clients, they were like, Oh, yep, she can do this.
51:34
SPEAKER_02: Because they have their businesses, you said, yeah, yeah, entrepreneurs, plumbing, and that kind of stuff.
51:39
SPEAKER_02: Oh, wow.
51:40
SPEAKER_02: Okay, cool.
51:41
SPEAKER_02: Nice.
51:42
SPEAKER_02: Love that.
51:43
SPEAKER_02: There's just, guys, there's no prerequisite to doing this.
51:48
SPEAKER_00: No.
51:49
SPEAKER_02: If that's one thing that I can give to people to take away, is like you don't need you don't need to have the college degree or the master's degree.
51:58
SPEAKER_02: You don't need to have any specific kind of experience.
52:01
SPEAKER_02: I mean, you do have experience, you do have the degree, so that all is like a cool added thing that you get that helpful.
52:09
SPEAKER_02: Listen to some of the other episodes.
52:11
SPEAKER_02: There are people that I've worked with that didn't have literally anything.
52:14
SPEAKER_02: Morgan, who is in your mastermind and she is killing it, um, started off as a seamstress.
52:21
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
52:22
SPEAKER_02: That's what she was doing.
52:23
SPEAKER_02: One working with her hands.
52:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
52:26
SPEAKER_00: But that's not the lifestyle she wanted to live.
52:28
SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, for sure.
52:29
SPEAKER_02: I've worked with people who are farmers, um, who are construction workers, electricians, nurses, yeah, a bunch of nurses.
52:38
SPEAKER_02: Randomly, a lot of blue-collar guys.
52:41
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
52:41
SPEAKER_02: Such an interesting subcategory of people.
52:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, really interesting.
52:46
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, I'm digressing.
52:47
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
52:48
SPEAKER_02: I still wanted to hear a little bit more.
52:49
SPEAKER_02: You sold all your stuff.
52:51
SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
52:52
SPEAKER_02: You uh you put your stuff put yourself in storage, put your stuff at mom and dad's house, and then got the hell out of there, went to Europe.
53:00
SPEAKER_00: What did you do?
53:00
SPEAKER_00: Went to Europe for two months.
53:02
SPEAKER_00: I did 10 countries in two months, which was nuts.
53:05
SPEAKER_00: And I don't think I could ever do that again.
53:07
SPEAKER_00: Had you ever traveled for that long?
53:09
SPEAKER_00: That was my first time like abroad for more than a month.
53:13
SPEAKER_00: So cool.
53:14
SPEAKER_00: So cool.
53:15
SPEAKER_00: And I was still working during that time and fitting in and dealing with the time change and all of that kind of stuff.
53:21
SPEAKER_00: But my clients were really happy still, and we worked through all of that.
53:26
SPEAKER_00: Um, that was definitely fast travel, and I don't think I will ever do that again, especially Europe, because there's so many like churches and um castles that you have to see.
53:36
SPEAKER_00: I was like, if I have to see another castle or another church, I'm gonna die.
53:40
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
53:42
SPEAKER_00: Because I also I want to see it.
53:43
SPEAKER_00: Like it's part of the culture, it's part of travel, that kind of stuff.
53:46
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was over it by the end of the 10 countries.
53:49
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
53:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then went home for the holidays, which was just really nice that I didn't have to choose between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
53:56
SPEAKER_00: I or New Year's.
53:57
SPEAKER_00: I was just home for all three because I love my family and I got to hang out with my cat.
54:02
SPEAKER_00: And but I I got that time because that's where I wanted to be at that time.
54:07
SPEAKER_02: I love that you mentioned that.
54:09
SPEAKER_02: I think there's a big question that a lot of people ask me about like digital nomad life.
54:14
SPEAKER_02: Oh, do you ever see your family?
54:16
SPEAKER_02: Do you ever da-da-da?
54:18
SPEAKER_02: For me, I feel literally if you count the number of days per year that I spend with my family now that I live on the other side of the planet versus when I lived in New York City and had to go home for weekends in Boston.
54:31
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I see my family more days per year now than I did then.
54:36
SPEAKER_02: Because if I wanted to go home when I had an actual job in New York, I would have to, I mean, Boston's drive at least driving distance.
54:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you either have to ask for PTO, but I didn't want to use my PTO because I wanted to use it on travel because I only had two weeks of it.
54:51
SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
54:52
SPEAKER_02: So I would literally get the freaking Chinatown bus from New York to Boston.
54:58
SPEAKER_02: I would get there super late on a Friday night, and then I'd have all day Saturday, and then Sunday I would always take the 8 p.m.
55:04
SPEAKER_02: bus back and then get back to New York at midnight.
55:07
SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
55:10
SPEAKER_02: The train fills up, and oh my gosh, no, one time I was trying to go home for Thanksgiving from New York, and um the train, like the switchboard in Penn Station broke, and there were thousands of people.
55:23
SPEAKER_02: It was so hot.
55:24
SPEAKER_02: The train was five hours late.
55:26
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
55:27
SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, that's why you didn't take the train.
55:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just I don't know.
55:29
SPEAKER_02: It's like the train getting to Boston, it's like you the train, the plane or or the bus, like any option.
55:37
SPEAKER_00: The plane also kind of sucks, even though it's fast.
55:40
SPEAKER_02: Because then you have to get to the freaking airport.
55:42
SPEAKER_00: And that's in the airport, it's in Timbuktu.
55:44
SPEAKER_02: It's just, it's just hard.
55:46
SPEAKER_02: It just was always really stressful to just go travel on the weekends to see my family.
55:51
SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure going to Florida, you only have the option to fly.
55:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
55:55
SPEAKER_00: So then that takes however much time.
55:57
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
55:57
SPEAKER_00: Either getting a taxi that costs$100 to the airport or taking the subway to the airport, getting through TSA, going all the way home for a three-hour flight.
56:07
SPEAKER_02: So, in all of the years, like basically since you graduated, this chapter of you being able to be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's, yeah, that's actually so special.
56:19
SPEAKER_02: It was and so much quality time.
56:21
SPEAKER_00: So much quality time.
56:22
SPEAKER_00: And I just needed it.
56:23
SPEAKER_00: I I needed to like feel feel that family, feel safe, feel that time with my cat.
56:31
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
56:32
SPEAKER_00: Like, and you're gonna go home in May again?
56:34
SPEAKER_00: Yes, for my sister's white coat ceremony.
56:37
SPEAKER_00: Right.
56:37
SPEAKER_00: That's exciting that I get to fly home to see that.
56:40
SPEAKER_00: And if I had a job, I might not have been able to make it because it's a Sunday night.
56:44
SPEAKER_00: So true.
56:44
SPEAKER_00: You probably wouldn't have been able to.
56:46
SPEAKER_00: I've been on a plane.
56:47
SPEAKER_00: Like I just wouldn't have been able to see her.
56:49
SPEAKER_00: So I get the option and the ability to go celebrate my sister, and that's just so, so special.
56:54
SPEAKER_02: The optionality that working online gives you is just so magical.
57:00
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
57:00
SPEAKER_02: And you can use it to book a one-way ticket to Bali, and you can use it to go travel around Europe for two months, and you can use it also to spend the holidays with your family to be there for the important days of people that you love, to spend time with your cat or your dog or whatever.
57:17
SPEAKER_02: And you can bring your cat too.
57:19
SPEAKER_00: You can't bring your cat to Bali, but yeah, there's a thing with animals.
57:22
SPEAKER_00: Other other countries, yeah.
57:24
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have friends that have traveled with their animals.
57:27
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
57:28
SPEAKER_00: That's my that's my next dream of like bringing my cat with me.
57:31
SPEAKER_00: How old is your cat?
57:32
SPEAKER_00: He's three, and he just doesn't even realize that he exists.
57:37
SPEAKER_00: So it's just nice to bring him.
57:39
SPEAKER_00: Even on our 15-hour drive home from New York City to Florida, he only meowed when we like turned around and looked at him, like to make sure that he was still breathing.
57:47
SPEAKER_00: Like he just like is like, I'm here.
57:50
SPEAKER_00: What a good little boy.
57:51
SPEAKER_00: Oh, so sweet.
57:52
SPEAKER_00: Sweet, so sweet.
57:53
SPEAKER_02: Just he just exists, though.
57:55
SPEAKER_02: That's all he does.
57:56
SPEAKER_02: Someone commented on one of my stories recently.
57:58
SPEAKER_02: She's like, I love that you've been posting about your dog so much.
58:01
SPEAKER_02: And she's like, I think you have no idea how many people would love to work remotely, literally just to spend more time with their animals.
58:06
SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
58:07
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, work from home to hang out with your cat, your dog, or bird, or whatever.
58:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
58:13
SPEAKER_02: Or your grandma or your brother and sister, your mom and dad, your cousin, yeah, neighbors, best friends, anybody, anybody, anybody.
58:22
SPEAKER_02: Um, well, we are towards the hour of our recording session, since we are in a live studio in Bali.
58:28
SPEAKER_02: So I want to wrap this up by just asking if you had a message.
58:33
SPEAKER_02: Okay, we're we're gonna picture the person who's listening to this podcast.
58:38
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're commuting to work or they're already at work, or maybe they're at home because they've just lost their job or something, but they're they're feeling some type of way about their current situation.
58:50
SPEAKER_02: It's not quite what they thought that they wanted.
58:55
SPEAKER_02: And they've been listening to this podcast, and now they're like, oh, the who's who are these chicks like hanging out in Bali talking about being able to do whatever they want.
59:04
SPEAKER_02: And um, I want that, but like I just don't know if I can have it or if it's for me.
59:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
59:12
SPEAKER_02: What would you say?
59:13
SPEAKER_00: Um I think I'll always go back to you can live a thousand lives and you can love your life right now, or you can hate it and want something to change, but the only thing you can do is make that decision to change and go for it.
59:26
SPEAKER_00: And you can change your mind in a year or five years or whatever and go back to corporate world.
59:32
SPEAKER_00: It's the worst that could happen.
59:33
SPEAKER_00: You could go back.
59:34
SPEAKER_00: You could, you could just go right back.
59:36
SPEAKER_00: You could, you could literally just turn it around.
59:38
SPEAKER_00: Okay, and no one no one's holding you to your life.
59:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no one's holding you to New York City.
59:45
SPEAKER_02: No one is holding you to your life.
59:47
SPEAKER_02: I love that.
59:47
SPEAKER_02: So many quotables in this episode.
59:50
SPEAKER_02: Love it.
59:51
SPEAKER_02: Amazing.
59:52
SPEAKER_02: Um, well, thank you so much for being here.
59:55
SPEAKER_02: This is such a fun episode.
59:56
SPEAKER_02: This is a dream.
59:57
SPEAKER_02: I loved the full circle moment that we described.
1:00:00
SPEAKER_02: And yeah, if you are listening to this podcast, like if if especially if you are a frequent listener, because I can't tell you how many people have been like, Krista, I've been listening to your podcast for years.
1:00:13
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, and you're just DMing me now?
1:00:16
SPEAKER_02: Like what?
1:00:17
SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, we could just chat.
1:00:19
SPEAKER_02: Like, you don't, I'm not I am the least pushy person ever.
1:00:24
SPEAKER_02: I'm literally like, because you have to kind of you have to want it.
1:00:29
SPEAKER_02: I would never push someone to join a coaching program, for example, because if I have to push them into doing it, they will not get the result.
1:00:37
SPEAKER_02: And then they'll probably write something mean online about how I, whatever.
1:00:43
SPEAKER_02: Like, I just my reputation matters way too much for me to push anybody into doing something.
1:00:47
SPEAKER_02: So when I say just send me a DM, like I completely accept that we could have a conversation and I could never hear from you again, or we could have a conversation today and I could hear from you three years later.
1:01:02
SPEAKER_02: Because that that's what happens all the time with people that message me.
1:01:06
SPEAKER_02: Um, it's a it's a process.
1:01:08
SPEAKER_02: And you know, um, Aliah, what you have uh discussed today is like you also had the idea that you were interested in this lifestyle in 2020.
1:01:21
SPEAKER_02: Five years.
1:01:22
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and now it's now it's actually 2026.
1:01:24
SPEAKER_00: Six, oh no.
1:01:25
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, well, but you started in 2024.
1:01:28
SPEAKER_02: So, but like there were years that went by that this spark of an idea, this seed of an idea just needed to be watered, it needed to be nourished, and it takes a while for that thing to actually bud and then for sprout and then for it to actually turn into something like beautiful and alive.
1:01:46
SPEAKER_02: It just takes time.
1:01:48
SPEAKER_02: So if you're listening to this, you don't need to wait until you're ready to just have a little conversation.
1:01:56
SPEAKER_02: I have I have so many free resources.
1:01:59
SPEAKER_02: I have so many podcast episodes about different, very specific subjects, probably answering any single question that you might have about any specific situation that you have.
1:02:11
SPEAKER_02: Like I've had this business for six years now, and that's just so much content that I could share with you.
1:02:18
SPEAKER_02: So I'm really here being a super open book.
1:02:21
SPEAKER_02: I do love to hear from my listeners.
1:02:24
SPEAKER_02: Um, so feel free to send me a DM on Instagram at Christabella Travels telling me that you came from the podcast and that you have a question, or if you just want to chat.
1:02:34
SPEAKER_02: Um, or if you do want me to initiate the conversation, you can send the word apply and then I'll send you the application questions for being joining the DNL.
1:02:45
SPEAKER_02: Um, again, it's no pressure.
1:02:47
SPEAKER_02: It's just literally like I ask you questions like, oh, what have you been doing for work?
1:02:52
SPEAKER_02: Um, what's where are you currently living?
1:02:54
SPEAKER_02: Like I ask you a series of questions so that I can learn a bit more about you in a structured way and then we can actually have a productive conversation.
1:03:02
SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't like to waste my time and I don't like to waste your time.
1:03:06
SPEAKER_02: So that's why I like to have structure and parameters around the conversation so that we can actually just like get shit done and talk about things that are actually important and not small talk.
1:03:17
SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't know if this is my ADHD or whatever, but I just can't stand small talk.
1:03:22
SPEAKER_02: So just get to the point.
1:03:24
SPEAKER_02: Tell me what you want to know, tell me what you're struggling with.
1:03:27
SPEAKER_02: I would love, love, love to hear from you.
1:03:30
SPEAKER_02: So that is Christabella Travels.
1:03:33
SPEAKER_02: Send me a message.
1:03:34
SPEAKER_02: Or if they want to send you a message, Aaliyah, what should they say?
1:03:38
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
1:03:39
SPEAKER_00: Or where where can they reach you?
1:03:40
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
1:03:41
SPEAKER_00: So my name is Aaliyah Knight.
1:03:43
SPEAKER_00: It's spelled awkward.
1:03:44
SPEAKER_00: I'm sure you'll put it in the bio.
1:03:46
SPEAKER_00: Um, and then my business is virtual C with two A's at the end.
1:03:51
SPEAKER_00: Um, feel free to reach me over there.
1:03:53
SPEAKER_00: Happy to answer any calls.
1:03:54
SPEAKER_00: And I still DM Krista all the time.
1:03:56
SPEAKER_00: So we're friends.
1:03:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:03:59
SPEAKER_02: She's a friend already.
1:04:00
SPEAKER_02: Dude, that's what happens with my with my clients.
1:04:02
SPEAKER_02: Like, I feel like people that listen to the podcast, first of all, I'm like, oh, that's so nice.
1:04:07
SPEAKER_02: So you want to hear me yap for hours and hours and hours on end?
1:04:11
SPEAKER_02: Like, thank you so much.
1:04:12
SPEAKER_02: So, first of all, I'm super flattered.
1:04:14
SPEAKER_02: Um, and I'm like, okay, if you can tolerate me yapping about the matrix all the time, I trust that we are on a similar vibe.
1:04:23
SPEAKER_02: And then the people that end up coming into the DNLA are all just like dope, hardworking, super motivated, big dreaming people that are all freaking cool.
1:04:32
SPEAKER_02: And that's why I've met so literally dozens and dozens of my clients.
1:04:35
SPEAKER_02: And that's why you're here.
1:04:37
SPEAKER_02: And if you're listening, you could be in this studio at some point in your life.
1:04:41
SPEAKER_02: Like, what if, what if whatever life you're living now, you took a few months' break from, started making money online, and then came to Bali just to have a podcast with me.
1:04:56
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, okay, we are over time.
1:04:58
SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much for being here.
1:05:00
SPEAKER_02: It was such a fun episode.
1:05:01
SPEAKER_02: Thank you for listening to the Digital Nomad Life podcast, and we'll see you in the next episode.
1:05:06
SPEAKER_02: Thanks.
1:05:07
SPEAKER_02: Bye.
1:05:07
SPEAKER_02: Bye.
