- 0:01Speaker 1: We've got former All star, sixteen year big league your
- 0:04Speaker 1: former MLB coach, Wally Joiner joining us right now. Wally,
- 0:08Speaker 1: great to see you. And also we've got Eric Kratz
- 0:10Speaker 1: from his bunker. So I apologize because I know that
- 0:13Speaker 1: you too have a history.
- 0:14Speaker 2: It's a bad history. So how far are you awake? Kratzy?
- 0:18Speaker 2: Are we close? Too close? No, we're good.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Good the statute of limitations, you're you're close, you're within you,
- 0:25Speaker 3: you're outside of the five hundred mile radius. So we're
- 0:27Speaker 3: good right now.
- 0:28Speaker 4: What did you do to him? What was it? Twenty thirteen? Krats?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Twenty thirteen? He was a hitting coach my only year
- 0:35Speaker 3: where I spent the entire season in the big leagues,
- 0:37Speaker 3: And so basically I made him quit, Like I'm good
- 0:42Speaker 3: on like half a year's stint. If I can spend
- 0:44Speaker 3: time with a hitting coach for half a year, they
- 0:47Speaker 3: won't go crazy. So he ended up quitting baseball forever
- 0:50Speaker 3: after that.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Almost a true story.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Hey, that's actually a good way to kick this off.
- 0:57Speaker 1: How rewarding at times but also of devastating at times?
- 1:01Speaker 4: Can it be as a hitting coach in Major League Baseball?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Where the first sign of an issue with the offense
- 1:06Speaker 1: is your fault.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Well, it's more devastating than rewarding. But when the team wins,
- 1:12Speaker 2: it's because the front office put a good team together.
- 1:15Speaker 2: When the team loses, what's wrong with the hitters? Waally. So, No,
- 1:20Speaker 2: I enjoyed it. It was a tough job, but I
- 1:23Speaker 2: coached for the Phillies for one year and then I
- 1:26Speaker 2: went to Detroit for three years. I had a couple
- 1:28Speaker 2: of great hitting teams to work with, and you know,
- 1:32Speaker 2: it was just a lot of fun to go out
- 1:34Speaker 2: and watch them play. It was rewarding. I'm finished, I've retired.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I'm playing this game now behind us and not very
- 1:45Speaker 2: well at that. But I enjoy it. But no, I
- 1:49Speaker 2: love Philly. What a great team, what a great town.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And it's a pleasure being with you guys today.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely, I mean, Kratz, you can speak to observing
- 1:59Speaker 1: hitting coach is and them not getting enough credit in general.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Now never they never get enough credit. They never get
- 2:05Speaker 3: enough credit. It's one of those things. I think it's
- 2:07Speaker 3: like a year and a half as the average lifespan
- 2:09Speaker 3: of a hitting coach in the Big leagues. Wally j
- 2:12Speaker 3: assistant hitting coach, moved up to the head guy keeping
- 2:16Speaker 3: his job in Detroit for three years. Feels like, feels
- 2:19Speaker 3: like it was good. But I have to appreciate it
- 2:21Speaker 3: because because in Detroit, I then got traded in fourteen
- 2:25Speaker 3: to the Royals, and so fourteen and fifteen we figured
- 2:30Speaker 3: out how to make the Tigers not hit anymore. So
- 2:33Speaker 3: I figured it was either me and my game calling,
- 2:36Speaker 3: or it was Wally and being a.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Hitting Kich probably a little of both. Cratzy, probably a
- 2:41Speaker 2: little of both. That was a tough bullpen to get
- 2:43Speaker 2: to with the Royals. So yeah, it was some long
- 2:47Speaker 2: nights playing the Royals.
- 2:50Speaker 4: All right.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I want to ask you first off about a couple
- 2:53Speaker 1: of teams that you were a part of obviously in
- 2:55Speaker 1: your career. So you want to Pennant with San Diego
- 2:58Speaker 1: in nineteen ninety eight, Do you see what the scene
- 3:02Speaker 1: is like now for the Padres and go, Wow, that's impressident.
- 3:05Speaker 2: No, it is impressive and it's exciting to watch. I
- 3:08Speaker 2: think we're talking today about a team tied with the Dodgers, right,
- 3:13Speaker 2: we are in the first place until yesterday. It's going
- 3:16Speaker 2: to go down to the last game. I remember one
- 3:21Speaker 2: of my years, it might have been ninety six, or
- 3:23Speaker 2: ninety eight, it went down to the last game against
- 3:27Speaker 2: the Padres and Dodgers we swept them to win the
- 3:30Speaker 2: National League West. So exciting times in southern California Right now,
- 3:35Speaker 2: What was.
- 3:35Speaker 1: It like then, ballpark wise? Because I've been there a
- 3:39Speaker 1: couple of times and it is a scene. It is incredible.
- 3:42Speaker 1: They sail out basically every night.
- 3:44Speaker 4: It's a shot.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Well, you're probably only seeing about half of what it
- 3:47Speaker 2: was like in the late nineties because we played at Qualcomm,
- 3:50Speaker 2: which was about a sixty five thousand seat stadium, and
- 3:53Speaker 2: it was packed in the postseason. In ninety eight, the
- 3:57Speaker 2: Braves came out for the Nash League pennant, and then
- 4:03Speaker 2: I went in two thousand to play for the Braves
- 4:05Speaker 2: and they were still talking about the noise and how
- 4:08Speaker 2: ruckous it was at at Qualcomm. And now they play
- 4:13Speaker 2: at Petco. But you know, my memories at Qualcomm were
- 4:17Speaker 2: as about about as good as they could ever be.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Should the stadiums be bigger? Like, I mean, you talk
- 4:23Speaker 3: about like sixty five thousand in those in those days
- 4:26Speaker 3: when you guys are running running hot, you were winning
- 4:29Speaker 3: a pennant? Like, should the stadiums be bigger? Or is
- 4:32Speaker 3: the smaller feel, okay, because we're not normally sold out anyway.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Well, you have the two extremes, as you mentioned, sixty
- 4:42Speaker 2: five thousand seat stadium when we're in first place. Then
- 4:47Speaker 2: in the American League, we went to the old ballpark
- 4:51Speaker 2: in and uh, I can't think of the name now,
- 4:53Speaker 2: but in Cleveland eighty thousand seats municipal, municipal, and uh
- 4:59Speaker 2: it looked like there was two thousand there when when
- 5:02Speaker 2: they were in last place. But the Indians picked it
- 5:05Speaker 2: up in the mid nineties and their Progressive field has
- 5:08Speaker 2: been packed ever since. So you gotta win. You gotta win, Cretzeam,
- 5:12Speaker 2: you gotta win.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Okay, So you need a big stadium to win, Yes, sir,
- 5:17Speaker 3: talk you talk about your you talk about your you know,
- 5:21Speaker 3: playing in the American League, playing in the National League.
- 5:24Speaker 3: We talk about umpires all the time on our show.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Your story about going from the American League to the
- 5:30Speaker 3: National League is one of the ones that has seared
- 5:33Speaker 3: in my memory, and only because you are a great storyteller.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Can you tell us what the umpire told you the
- 5:39Speaker 3: first time when you went from the American League to
- 5:42Speaker 3: the National League.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Well, I don't know how much time I have. But
- 5:48Speaker 2: I played ten years in the American League and I
- 5:51Speaker 2: would drive home at night after ball games playing for
- 5:54Speaker 2: the Royals and playing for the Angels, and for me,
- 6:00Speaker 2: I thought you had to be a complete Major League
- 6:01Speaker 2: Baseball player if you got kicked out of a ball game, right.
- 6:04Speaker 2: That was one box that I wasn't checking off. And
- 6:08Speaker 2: for ten years I got along well with everybody. I
- 6:12Speaker 2: thought I was a nice guy. And then I get
- 6:17Speaker 2: traded to the Padres and all of a sudden, I'm
- 6:21Speaker 2: in the Senior circuit and I thought baseball was baseball,
- 6:25Speaker 2: but the Senior Circuit was in the National League, and
- 6:28Speaker 2: all of these umpires had a chip on their shoulder,
- 6:30Speaker 2: and you know, it was just it was it was
- 6:36Speaker 2: just too much. I got kicked out of a game
- 6:40Speaker 2: in Philly, finally, and I was the happiest guy on
- 6:44Speaker 2: the field even though I got kicked out. And there
- 6:47Speaker 2: was some really unremarkable comments during the argument about getting
- 6:53Speaker 2: my tired American League but off the field, right, and
- 6:57Speaker 2: I'm like, what are you talking about? You know, so,
- 7:00Speaker 2: but that was the uh, that was just what the
- 7:03Speaker 2: umpire's thought, or some umpires thought, was that the American
- 7:07Speaker 2: League didn't matter. National League, and we're gonna make a
- 7:09Speaker 2: you know, we're gonna we're gonna set a precedent with
- 7:11Speaker 2: all of these American leaguers coming over to the big leagues.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Finally, Wow, they're like, oh, look at this American League comoers.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I actually told the story this morning, one of my
- 7:21Speaker 2: favorite stories. I was in the American League.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Uh.
- 7:24Speaker 2: It was my first year playing for the Angels Friday
- 7:28Speaker 2: night Texas Rangers. Nolan Ryan was on the mound sellout crowd,
- 7:33Speaker 2: and I'm excited to face Nolan Ryan. And I walk
- 7:35Speaker 2: up to the plate and there was an umpire I
- 7:39Speaker 2: said hello to. His name was Derwood Merrill, good old
- 7:42Speaker 2: country boy. I loved him. He was a great, great guy.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I get in the batter's box. First pitch was a
- 7:47Speaker 2: fastball this far outside stee rack one. And I look
- 7:51Speaker 2: at Derwy and I said, der With, that pitch is
- 7:53Speaker 2: a foot outside. And he takes his mask off and
- 7:55Speaker 2: he says, son, that's a Hall of Fame pitch. Tonight,
- 7:57Speaker 2: swing the bat. So, uh, you can have fun with it,
- 8:01Speaker 2: which a lot of the umpires did. But you know
- 8:04Speaker 2: a lot of great stories.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Great good, that's good.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Well, hey, things are going to change they've been changing,
- 8:10Speaker 1: but they're really going to change next year if we
- 8:12Speaker 1: have a challenge system, because you can't pull anything off,
- 8:15Speaker 1: even for a game. It's one thing when you're getting
- 8:17Speaker 1: graded much more tightly, and there's a whole system to
- 8:20Speaker 1: it these days, but the challenge system is going to
- 8:22Speaker 1: enable someone like you back then to have been.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Like tap the head.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Hey, sorry, buddy, hate to do this for a your
- 8:28Speaker 1: nice guy, but we don't play like that just because
- 8:31Speaker 1: he's really good.
- 8:31Speaker 4: He doesn't get a foot off the plate.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Well, I you know, listen, I was old school. I
- 8:37Speaker 2: was all about the technology not coming into play. But
- 8:43Speaker 2: they've done a great job with the technology. I think
- 8:46Speaker 2: that Unfortunately, when you can immediately show replay of a
- 8:51Speaker 2: bad call, then that changes the outcome and the fans
- 8:55Speaker 2: don't like it, and so I think I like what
- 8:57Speaker 2: they're doing. I'm really excited to see what happens with
- 9:00Speaker 2: the strike zone. I saw it a few times. Quickly
- 9:06Speaker 2: make a difference on both sides. You know, on defense,
- 9:11Speaker 2: you want the pitcher not to throw very many pitches, right,
- 9:13Speaker 2: and so there's a there was a miscall which could
- 9:17Speaker 2: have cost the pitcher to throw more pitches that inning.
- 9:19Speaker 2: They went to the replay, it was a strike three.
- 9:22Speaker 2: He's off the mail right. And then the top of
- 9:24Speaker 2: the next inning, a guy got struck out on a
- 9:27Speaker 2: bad pitch. He went to the helmet, it said it
- 9:31Speaker 2: was a ball. Next pitch he got a double. So
- 9:33Speaker 2: in two separate situations they got the call right and
- 9:39Speaker 2: it made a big difference in the outcome of the game.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be career all through stuff, which is
- 9:43Speaker 1: what replay has done too, you know, every time when
- 9:45Speaker 1: they've gotten the right calls right. Yep, Oka KP. This
- 9:50Speaker 1: is your first arena club experience. We're going to open
- 9:52Speaker 1: a slab pack together. So first off, we're gonna buy
- 9:54Speaker 1: one of those twenty five dollars slab packs and we
- 9:57Speaker 1: get to see what is in the pack. There it
- 9:59Speaker 1: is the Grail, which is the best card in the
- 10:02Speaker 1: pack and worth the most. There are some other cards
- 10:05Speaker 1: that we're chasing, and you can see the entire lineup
- 10:07Speaker 1: so that you know what you're in the running for.
- 10:09Speaker 1: There's the Yamamoto signed card. Now let's open up our
- 10:13Speaker 1: pack and see how we do we have ourselves a
- 10:18Speaker 1: really cool graphic and then a show Heyo Tani fifty
- 10:24Speaker 1: to fifty card from last year. What do you want
- 10:26Speaker 1: to do? Should we sell it right back to them
- 10:28Speaker 1: for sixteen or should.
- 10:29Speaker 4: We keep it?
- 10:31Speaker 3: You should give it to me, I'll.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Keep good answer, Fine, I will give it to you.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Since the Blue Jays didn't getto Tani, you can get
- 10:38Speaker 1: this fifty to fifty card instead and use the code
- 10:41Speaker 1: foul foul to get yourself twenty percent off your first
- 10:43Speaker 1: slab pack or card purchase. Yes, you get to keep
- 10:46Speaker 1: that card if you want it. They send it to
- 10:48Speaker 1: you foul at Arena club dot com slash foul Right,
- 10:52Speaker 1: I want to take you to the Angels. So yeah
- 10:55Speaker 1: at Wally World rookie year. Awesome with the Angels, great
- 10:58Speaker 1: run with the ball club in general. Well, where are
- 11:00Speaker 1: you out on this team now? Because they just they
- 11:03Speaker 1: haven't been able to do anything during Mike Chioud's career,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and you know this is going to be another season
- 11:09Speaker 1: where they're going to fall short of the playoffs. There's
- 11:11Speaker 1: definitely a young core there, But is it frustrating for
- 11:13Speaker 1: you to watch from the outside and.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Hope that you know, they could bring things back to
- 11:16Speaker 4: how it was?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Yeah? I think you know it's frustrating for for ex players.
- 11:23Speaker 2: It's frustrating for fans. I'm sure it's frustrating for Ardy Marino.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I don't think that he's you know, his intentions were
- 11:30Speaker 2: to have this this type of an outcome. The history
- 11:34Speaker 2: doesn't portray a positive picture. For six years, they had
- 11:41Speaker 2: arguably the top two players in the game, and now
- 11:45Speaker 2: they only have one and the other one is doing
- 11:48Speaker 2: great with the Dodgers show Hao Tani, and the Angels
- 11:54Speaker 2: got nothing for him, you know. That was what was
- 11:56Speaker 2: so devastating, was we you know, and I know that
- 12:00Speaker 2: already was trying to sign him, and so you can't
- 12:04Speaker 2: try to sign him and also trading, but you just
- 12:08Speaker 2: you can't not get something for that guy. And the
- 12:11Speaker 2: Angels came up with nothing, you know, no prospects, no
- 12:15Speaker 2: great players in return for losing show. Hey. So I
- 12:18Speaker 2: know that that was very frustrating and disappointing. Injuries play
- 12:25Speaker 2: a big role in every season and every team, and
- 12:28Speaker 2: the Angels have had their fair share. Mike Trouts had
- 12:30Speaker 2: his fair share, which is unfortunate. And he's he's trying
- 12:33Speaker 2: to get healthy and you know, hopefully he can get
- 12:35Speaker 2: back to playing the outfield, but it hasn't happened. So far. So,
- 12:39Speaker 2: I think just frustration. You know, I look at the
- 12:44Speaker 2: Angels as a mini situation as the Chicago Cubs for
- 12:48Speaker 2: one hundred years.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Right right, right, This is a microcosm of what Cubs
- 12:53Speaker 1: fan shot with for a long period of time in
- 12:54Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. Were you surprised when the trade deadline
- 12:57Speaker 1: passed and you were like, they didn't trade him?
- 13:00Speaker 2: I was so shocked. Yeah, you know, the likelihood of
- 13:04Speaker 2: he of him signing back. I think already thought he
- 13:09Speaker 2: had an inn on that. But unfortunately agents and players
- 13:15Speaker 2: they have their own sights on somewhere, and you know,
- 13:19Speaker 2: to lose them to the Dodgers even hurts a little
- 13:23Speaker 2: bit worse.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it stings a lot right now for Angels fans.
- 13:26Speaker 1: All right, So I'll take us to a different subject.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I was looking back. You were in the nineteen eighty
- 13:30Speaker 1: six home run derby. I was okay, you tied with
- 13:33Speaker 1: Daryl Strawberry allegedly allegedly. Okay, Well there's more to the story.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I won. You want we can tie?
- 13:40Speaker 4: Okay? Do you what do you have? What happened?
- 13:42Speaker 2: My my? I'm old, but I thought I won. But
- 13:45Speaker 2: the difference we were in in in the Astrodome, Okay,
- 13:49Speaker 2: the biggest ballpark that was around at the time, and uh,
- 13:54Speaker 2: little Wally Joiner was hitting it right over the fence
- 13:56Speaker 2: and Darryl Strawberry was hitting the speakers up in the
- 13:59Speaker 2: up in the rafters. It was a huge discrepancy, but
- 14:02Speaker 2: it was uh, you know, a home runs a home run,
- 14:05Speaker 2: and uh, you know, listen, I was honored to be
- 14:07Speaker 2: a part of that, uh opportunity. I was, you know,
- 14:10Speaker 2: the first rookie ever to be elected to start in
- 14:13Speaker 2: an All Star Game that year, and then uh, to
- 14:15Speaker 2: have a chance to go in the finals for the
- 14:17Speaker 2: home run hitting contest. Some great memories.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it felt like a win. Then I just saw
- 14:21Speaker 1: it crats because I'm like, wait, you tied. I mean,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I know it was early days, you know, I.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Don't know how they said, but we tied. I mean,
- 14:29Speaker 2: I have a contest. If you're going to come up
- 14:32Speaker 2: with the tie, I think my recollection, I mean, Darryl
- 14:36Speaker 2: Strawberry probably says he won. I don't know who.
- 14:38Speaker 4: He probably beat you on the distance side. They were
- 14:40Speaker 4: doing that as the tiebreaker.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I didn't have that his one was equal to my two,
- 14:44Speaker 2: but so maybe that's what they were counting.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Yeah right, it's like three point ball or something like that.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but that was great.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Yeah, Love, I'm confused.
- 14:54Speaker 3: So you tied? You have the same I don't. I'm
- 14:57Speaker 3: really confused.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I I've heard both stories. I'll stay with the one
- 15:02Speaker 2: that makes me look good, which I won the home
- 15:04Speaker 2: run hitting contest, but I don't know it was gosh
- 15:09Speaker 2: it was. I don't even think they had they have
- 15:12Speaker 2: video of that. It was so long ago.
- 15:14Speaker 1: So hey, they were still convesion this year when Kyle
- 15:18Speaker 1: Riley ended up winning, but in in earlier rounds it
- 15:21Speaker 1: was Brent Rooker didn't even know what's going on.
- 15:23Speaker 4: They're right, guys, can we be transparent about this?
- 15:26Speaker 2: I did like the way they finished the All Star
- 15:27Speaker 2: Game this year, though, the swing off.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I figured you'd like that, Love, that's basically the antithesis
- 15:32Speaker 1: of what we're talking about.
- 15:33Speaker 2: You're much better than ending the game and the time. Yes, right,
- 15:37Speaker 2: So I loved the excitement and what a way to
- 15:41Speaker 2: end it with schwarbel right.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yeah, very cool.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Okay, one more one more for me, and again, I'm
- 15:49Speaker 1: just looking back at the history books. In August of
- 15:52Speaker 1: nineteen eighty six fan incident that I feel like a
- 15:57Speaker 1: lot of our young fancy For me, I didn't catch
- 15:59Speaker 1: or know at the time happened. If you wanted to
- 16:01Speaker 1: share with us, is this the Yankee stadium? So we
- 16:05Speaker 1: had a two game series with the Yankees nineteen eighty six.
- 16:09Speaker 2: The Yankees weren't doing very well. Mike wit threw a
- 16:13Speaker 2: complete game and we swept him two games and he
- 16:16Speaker 2: threw a complete game. So we're all on the mound
- 16:18Speaker 2: congratulating Mike Whitt for a complete game. And he's about
- 16:23Speaker 2: this tall, and I look up at him. I said, nice,
- 16:25Speaker 2: go on, give him a fist bump. And I turned
- 16:28Speaker 2: and we were probably about this far apart, and I
- 16:31Speaker 2: feel something right here, and I think it's him doing
- 16:34Speaker 2: this to me. So I looked at him. I said,
- 16:36Speaker 2: what do you want? He goes, what are you talking about?
- 16:37Speaker 2: And I said, you hit me? And goes no. And
- 16:39Speaker 2: we looked down and there was a buck knife, a
- 16:41Speaker 2: blade about this big sticking in the ground. We don't
- 16:45Speaker 2: know where it came from, but it he could have
- 16:48Speaker 2: one inch one way or the other could have been damaging. Yeah,
- 16:51Speaker 2: And it landed in the in the ground and the
- 16:54Speaker 2: next thing I saw was the dugout. I quickly ran in.
- 16:59Speaker 2: You know, I don't know what came of it, but yeah,
- 17:01Speaker 2: it was Uh. I think it happened so fast that
- 17:04Speaker 2: you didn't get nervous about it. But it just you mean,
- 17:07Speaker 2: thinking about it just makes you realize how possibly dangerous
- 17:14Speaker 2: it could be out there.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and they didn't have cameras set up. I mean, nowadays,
- 17:17Speaker 1: you find that person, you could find him.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah. The rest of that story was the Yankees came
- 17:23Speaker 2: out to Anaheim to play a week later and Dave
- 17:26Speaker 2: Winfield runs out to right field, which was Wally World. Yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 2: so be careful, Dave. So he goes running out there
- 17:33Speaker 2: and there was about two hundred rubber knives thrown at
- 17:35Speaker 2: him that said welcome to Wally World. So it was
- 17:37Speaker 2: pretty cool. Wow, it was great. Wow.
- 17:39Speaker 1: But yeah, so a fan, I mean attacked from a distance,
- 17:44Speaker 1: obviously you would.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Think it was a fan. Yeah, he was angry about
- 17:47Speaker 2: with the Yankees, but they were already in the dugout.
- 17:49Speaker 2: He couldn't get to them. So next best thing, let's
- 17:52Speaker 2: go after the start. I think it was thrown at
- 17:53Speaker 2: Mike Witt. Sure, don't hurt me. I made the outs
- 17:57Speaker 2: that day.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So you know, yeah, yeah, they come on. But that
- 18:03Speaker 1: that is crazy. Christ did you know that story.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I did not know that story. They I mean, they
- 18:07Speaker 3: used to say Yankee Stadium was a jungle. I didn't
- 18:10Speaker 3: realize it was really a jungle.
- 18:11Speaker 2: For you, Jay, it was really a jungle. It was
- 18:15Speaker 2: uh you know, listen. I love Yankee Stadium. The old
- 18:19Speaker 2: the old ballparks were fabulous, and uh, I I just
- 18:24Speaker 2: I have I have no bad memories of anything that
- 18:28Speaker 2: happened in the big leagues, good or bad.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Right right.
- 18:30Speaker 1: That's why sometimes people are like, oh, fans are getting
- 18:32Speaker 1: so bad. No, there's there's always been problem. Listen, there's
- 18:35Speaker 1: always been problem. We just were able to report on
- 18:38Speaker 1: them a little quicker and find people and all of that.
- 18:40Speaker 4: All right, let's finish on a high note.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Person, you're most excited to spend time with this week
- 18:46Speaker 1: or see whether it's something you already know or somebody knew.
- 18:49Speaker 2: No this, uh, this opportunity. I got invited about a
- 18:53Speaker 2: couple of months ago, and I was flattered to get
- 18:55Speaker 2: the call. In the invite, we have eighty players here
- 18:59Speaker 2: from all four of the major sports. I love hockey.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I saw Bernie Nichols, who I've been with for about
- 19:06Speaker 2: thirty years. Good to catch up with him. All these
- 19:09Speaker 2: names were people that I enjoyed watching and were fans of,
- 19:12Speaker 2: and so now to to see him again on the
- 19:15Speaker 2: golf course, it's gonna be a lot of fun. I hope.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I just don't embarrass myself. Some great players. Yeah, I'm
- 19:21Speaker 2: playing for like forty of the place right now, so
- 19:23Speaker 2: I'll be happy.
- 19:24Speaker 1: That would still be above that's about fifty percent right
- 19:26Speaker 1: around the great curve.
- 19:27Speaker 4: Okay, just just beat Kevin Mallar for it.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I could do. I played with him tomorrow in our
- 19:32Speaker 2: first match on the first day, so I'll do that
- 19:36Speaker 2: for you.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Tell him it's hot, you know, cocktails the little thing, right,
- 19:39Speaker 1: just take care of him.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, all right, Hydra, right.
- 19:43Speaker 2: All right, gratch you good to see you. Good to
- 19:45Speaker 2: see Thank you, thank you, Thank you both
