- 0:08Speaker 2: The World's a Pigeon podcast.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:18Speaker 3: You gotta get you early, though, Those spots fill up quick.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Yeah I do, so, I'm not worried about that. I do,
- 0:24Speaker 4: says I haven't engaged since Andy left, but I haven't
- 0:26Speaker 4: missed an episode.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Should I take that personally, I'm causing disengagement.
- 0:32Speaker 5: But she was a little sweet on it, and I
- 0:34Speaker 5: do think that he identified him as the successor he did.
- 0:37Speaker 5: I need to know what.
- 0:40Speaker 6: Bill was in his seventies.
- 0:41Speaker 7: No, no, no, no.
- 0:44Speaker 5: I like it.
- 0:45Speaker 4: A lot of emailers preaching patients, which I think is
- 0:51Speaker 4: great because, yeah, it's about Matt. I thought we were
- 0:56Speaker 4: talking about one of the first times we went was
- 0:59Speaker 4: with Mike Reese and he ate so much he threw
- 1:02Speaker 4: up in the bathroom. It was like a Roman orgy.
- 1:05Speaker 4: So we got a hurry, Paul.
- 1:07Speaker 8: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:12Speaker 5: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:16Speaker 4: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday. Here
- 1:20Speaker 4: at Jillette Stadium and uh boy, are we just getting
- 1:23Speaker 4: ready for the Dolphins or are we going to talk
- 1:25Speaker 4: about this game in San Francisco or Santa Clara to
- 1:28Speaker 4: be exact, because we're going in the wrong direction, folks.
- 1:32Speaker 5: Well, I would just say that Mike and I had
- 1:34Speaker 5: a chance to sort of clear our throats, and they
- 1:37Speaker 5: are all our grievances on San Francisco. We haven't heard
- 1:39Speaker 5: from Fred and Evan, So yeah, if you guys have
- 1:41Speaker 5: some something to say, I think Mike and I would
- 1:43Speaker 5: be interested in listening.
- 1:45Speaker 9: And I'd say I grinded, grinded the film yesterday and
- 1:49Speaker 9: I've got some I've got some takes.
- 1:50Speaker 10: Okay, Well, I love when Mike grinds the film too, because.
- 1:53Speaker 5: I'm don't care for it.
- 1:54Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 1:55Speaker 6: I'm on this island by myself.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I enjoy it. I just grind my teeth when I say,
- 2:00Speaker 4: but no, I mean first half offense couldn't do anything.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I think second half there was some opportunities, one that
- 2:09Speaker 4: they took advantage of after the fumble. But this offense
- 2:15Speaker 4: is anemik It's how they ended the season last year
- 2:20Speaker 4: and this is where we are now. The question I
- 2:23Speaker 4: have for people, because I've heard a lot of people
- 2:25Speaker 4: they're not giving me any hope. They're not What was
- 2:31Speaker 4: the expectation of hope that you had going into the season,
- 2:34Speaker 4: because all I heard was, and I'm talking about the spring,
- 2:38Speaker 4: going into the summer, this is a four to six
- 2:40Speaker 4: win team, and that was before they lost Barmore and
- 2:44Speaker 4: jude On and Bentley and now probably Dugar. What are
- 2:48Speaker 4: you expecting? This is kind of what I expected from
- 2:52Speaker 4: this team. The only thing that I'm waiting for is
- 2:56Speaker 4: made to play. That's that's it.
- 2:59Speaker 9: I mean, I just I don't think they look like
- 3:01Speaker 9: a six win team. They look like a two win team.
- 3:03Speaker 9: Against San Francisco. That that was I think where the
- 3:06Speaker 9: some of the anger comes from. I mean, that's you know,
- 3:08Speaker 9: for me, what was frustrating is but yeah, I mean
- 3:12Speaker 9: it was. It was pretty bad. I'm just gonna get
- 3:15Speaker 9: right into it. I just I just think Jacoby Brissette
- 3:17Speaker 9: is not good and I think he's part of the problem.
- 3:20Speaker 9: And I have some hope now like that I didn't
- 3:23Speaker 9: even have on the postgame show because I think Pop
- 3:25Speaker 9: Douglas and Jalen Polk can play, and I.
- 3:28Speaker 3: See those guys getting open.
- 3:30Speaker 9: I'm just seeing too much of Jacoby Brissett, not seeing
- 3:34Speaker 9: the field, holding the ball too much, coming late to things.
- 3:37Speaker 9: And where I'm starting to evolve over the last twenty
- 3:39Speaker 9: four hours is like I think it's it's starting to
- 3:42Speaker 9: be time. Like if this kind of continues, I'm starting
- 3:45Speaker 9: to cross over to Paul Star out of the seat
- 3:47Speaker 9: where No, I agree with the kid in there because
- 3:49Speaker 9: I think he'll I think he can make more plays
- 3:51Speaker 9: than he.
- 3:51Speaker 4: I think he should play this week, he's not going
- 3:53Speaker 4: to according to Gerrod Meo. And and here's the thing.
- 3:58Speaker 4: You know, there's a bunch of other guys on this
- 4:02Speaker 4: team that need to develop other than Drake May and
- 4:05Speaker 4: I'm talking about on the offensive side of the ball,
- 4:08Speaker 4: and they're not being allowed to develop right now because
- 4:11Speaker 4: we've got a quarterback who is what he is. We
- 4:15Speaker 4: knew who he was coming in. He's not a guy
- 4:18Speaker 4: who's going to make plays. He's not a guy who
- 4:21Speaker 4: can extend plays like a quarterback needs to do in
- 4:24Speaker 4: the NFL. Sure he won't throw a lot of interceptions.
- 4:27Speaker 4: That's great, but that's why he's never been a starting
- 4:29Speaker 4: quarterback in this league because he doesn't make plays. He
- 4:32Speaker 4: doesn't take chances he doesn't get rid of the ball.
- 4:35Speaker 4: But we knew that going in this should be no
- 4:38Speaker 4: surprise to anyone. The only thing that I think right now,
- 4:42Speaker 4: I'm I'm now biting at the chomping at the bitch, champing, chomping.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Think it's Champa Champaign Champagne Chandler Jones's. That's That's all
- 4:54Speaker 4: I'm waiting for, because right now you mentioned Jalen Polk
- 4:58Speaker 4: and Pop Douglas and and you know whoever else you
- 5:02Speaker 4: want to talk about. Their progress is being stunted at
- 5:06Speaker 4: this point too, because because you're not running you know,
- 5:10Speaker 4: an NFL offense. In my opinion, Well, and so that
- 5:14Speaker 4: that's what's bothering me right now. It's not the record.
- 5:18Speaker 4: It's not that they, you know, got made to look
- 5:20Speaker 4: like an inferior team to the forty nine ers, which
- 5:23Speaker 4: is which they are at this point. That's that doesn't
- 5:26Speaker 4: bother me. It's the fact that we're not getting on
- 5:30Speaker 4: with it. We're not getting on with with May and
- 5:33Speaker 4: the progress of these other young offensive players.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if I would agree with this.
- 5:38Speaker 3: They're not running an NFL offense.
- 5:39Speaker 9: I mean, they certainly are not getting NFL level production
- 5:42Speaker 9: from from some of their players what I mean, but
- 5:44Speaker 9: I still see value in what I'm seeing from Polk
- 5:47Speaker 9: and Douglas specifically of getting experienced. And I know that
- 5:49Speaker 9: maybe they're not getting the ball thrown to them out
- 5:51Speaker 9: there and making enough catches. But you know when you
- 5:54Speaker 9: see the frustration, I mean, you see Pop Douglas on
- 5:56Speaker 9: what I think it was one of the first third
- 5:57Speaker 9: and threes that they faced, and he shakes this guy
- 6:00Speaker 9: and he's open. I mean, he's got his separation, you know.
- 6:03Speaker 9: So I just well, for me, I was a little
- 6:05Speaker 9: bit feeling positive about was just that we talked so
- 6:07Speaker 9: much about none of these receivers can separate. Like I'm
- 6:10Speaker 9: seeing a couple of young kids that kind of that,
- 6:12Speaker 9: and those are elements that.
- 6:14Speaker 4: About getting rewarded for that effort. But that's not happening,
- 6:17Speaker 4: and it's.
- 6:17Speaker 9: Exciting, Fred, That's what's exciting. You got Drake May, You're
- 6:21Speaker 9: sitting on the piece that can beat that.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Okay, you know, And so let's get on with I'm saying.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I'm getting, I'm getting I'm getting over the Jacoby at all.
- 6:30Speaker 5: I mean, I asked just for you guys.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Thoughts. Yeah, Westen let's get on with the Drake may experiment.
- 6:36Speaker 10: I mean, I've been on this side of the street
- 6:39Speaker 10: for a while now. This is exactly what I said
- 6:42Speaker 10: last week. Uh, Jacoby Brissett's is a problem with this
- 6:45Speaker 10: offense right now. He doesn't make any plays, missus throws,
- 6:49Speaker 10: holds the ball missing reads like if you're doing things
- 6:52Speaker 10: that I could sit here and say, well, if you
- 6:55Speaker 10: were a rookie quarterback, I would be like, all right,
- 6:57Speaker 10: I get it. I get you're not going to dominate
- 6:59Speaker 10: priests now as a rookie quarterback. I get that you
- 7:02Speaker 10: might not get to the backside of a progression as
- 7:05Speaker 10: a rookie quarterback. He's been in the league for nine years. Like,
- 7:08Speaker 10: we're not talking about may We're talking about the veteran
- 7:12Speaker 10: quarterback being in there. But you know, I didn't want
- 7:15Speaker 10: to start there because last week I did enough of
- 7:17Speaker 10: dragging bringing it back in the whole thing through the ground.
- 7:21Speaker 10: But I just think there's three things to me that
- 7:25Speaker 10: the Patriots should be focusing on moving forward. And if
- 7:28Speaker 10: I'm girod Mayo, I'm at the point now where I'm
- 7:31Speaker 10: starting to point some fingers, not publicly, but.
- 7:36Speaker 5: He's done it publicly.
- 7:37Speaker 10: Yeah, I wouldn't do that, but just I would start
- 7:41Speaker 10: not necessarily pointing fingers. Maybe that's not the right way
- 7:44Speaker 10: of putting it, but you know, putting some people's backs
- 7:47Speaker 10: against the walls inside the building a little bit, and
- 7:50Speaker 10: not just the players like at the highest levels.
- 7:53Speaker 5: You know.
- 7:53Speaker 10: I go to Elliott Wolf's office and I would say,
- 7:56Speaker 10: Charles Lano, DJ Humphrees, David Boxavan Smith, get him in
- 8:03Speaker 10: here for workouts and sign one of them. I don't
- 8:05Speaker 10: care like you, it's it's your personnel department. I'll allow
- 8:09Speaker 10: you to do the talent evaluation side of it and
- 8:11Speaker 10: figure out who the best one of those guys is.
- 8:15Speaker 10: But I want one of those guys that practice on Wednesday.
- 8:18Speaker 6: Figure it out.
- 8:20Speaker 10: I would go to Alex Van Pelt's office and I
- 8:22Speaker 10: would say, Drake May is playing Figure it out. You
- 8:25Speaker 10: know if you think that according to him, yeah, if
- 8:28Speaker 10: you think that it's you know, he can't run the
- 8:31Speaker 10: whole playbook. If you think that, you know, he there's
- 8:33Speaker 10: certain things that you have to cater the offense to,
- 8:36Speaker 10: you know, maybe more gun or something like that to
- 8:39Speaker 10: make it viable with him in there. Figure it out.
- 8:43Speaker 10: And I would say to DeMarcus Covington, what the heck
- 8:45Speaker 10: are we doing on third down? And we need to
- 8:48Speaker 10: scrap it and we need to start over. They're thirty
- 8:50Speaker 10: first in the league right now on third down defense,
- 8:53Speaker 10: thirty first in the league.
- 8:54Speaker 6: They can't get off the field.
- 8:55Speaker 10: So whatever they're doing schematically, which we can get into
- 8:58Speaker 10: what I see on down, they need to throw in
- 9:02Speaker 10: the trash and go back to the drawing board and
- 9:04Speaker 10: figure out a way to get the opposing offense off
- 9:07Speaker 10: the field on third down.
- 9:08Speaker 4: One thing I will say in the in the defense's
- 9:11Speaker 4: defense from last game specifically, was after the Rogers game,
- 9:17Speaker 4: it was like, why can't they contain the quarterback? And
- 9:20Speaker 4: you know they're gonna have to do that against Purdy
- 9:22Speaker 4: and they didn't. But one of the things that Perdy
- 9:25Speaker 4: did that is unusual I think in this league is
- 9:28Speaker 4: that he has no problem when he feels pressure running
- 9:31Speaker 4: ten yards backwards, Like if you're gonna do that, then
- 9:36Speaker 4: you know it's gonna be hard to contain him. Now,
- 9:38Speaker 4: he should he should be made to pay for that.
- 9:41Speaker 4: But he had no problem just turning and just running
- 9:44Speaker 4: like whether it's side to side or he hadn't he
- 9:48Speaker 4: was the pocket did not exist for him on many
- 9:52Speaker 4: plays because he just ran away and you know that's
- 9:55Speaker 4: that's hard for any team to contain.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, I mean right out of the gate.
- 9:58Speaker 9: I mean, I just another big picture thought I have
- 10:01Speaker 9: is that I think, you know, Kem White is a
- 10:03Speaker 9: is a problem inside, but he's still learning.
- 10:06Speaker 3: He's all gased, no breaks on the edge.
- 10:07Speaker 9: I think two of the first third downs were you know,
- 10:10Speaker 9: him just being over aggressive, and I think it's hard
- 10:12Speaker 9: for him. He's trying to find a balance coming off
- 10:14Speaker 9: the edge now of you know that must rush, which
- 10:17Speaker 9: I mean guys talk about it all the time, how
- 10:19Speaker 9: hard it is to you know, want to try to
- 10:21Speaker 9: beat the tackle. But at the same time, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 9: staying center. I mean Daniel Qualley had some problems there too.
- 10:26Speaker 9: I mean, White is definitely one of the big bright
- 10:28Speaker 9: spots for this defense, but I think you're seeing some
- 10:30Speaker 9: of the growing pains with him. They're asking him to
- 10:32Speaker 9: do so much, and those first two third downs, I thought,
- 10:35Speaker 9: you know, kind of set the tone with letting Purdy
- 10:37Speaker 9: get out of the pocket, and I mean he killed
- 10:39Speaker 9: him with his feet picking up the third the first
- 10:41Speaker 9: downs and then he also another third down made it
- 10:44Speaker 9: you know, stepped out of the pocket but still made
- 10:45Speaker 9: the throw to Kittle.
- 10:47Speaker 5: So you know, that was another.
- 10:49Speaker 9: One of my big picture thoughts after after rewatching it.
- 10:51Speaker 5: I think Devon Gotcho would agree with you. Yeah, so
- 10:54Speaker 5: I think he called I think he didn't mention him
- 10:56Speaker 5: by name, but I think that's what I think.
- 10:57Speaker 9: That was towards j too, I would say, you know,
- 11:00Speaker 9: I think I think.
- 11:03Speaker 5: I guess that's who he's talking about. Those are the
- 11:05Speaker 5: guys on the edges, and those are the guys that
- 11:07Speaker 5: you know, I kind of disagree with little Fred. I
- 11:09Speaker 5: don't think they did a good job of keeping him
- 11:11Speaker 5: in the pocket again because they they're not disciplined when
- 11:14Speaker 5: they come after him and they give escape lanes. That
- 11:17Speaker 5: first one was just an easy little run to the side.
- 11:20Speaker 5: It was almost like pretty sawd like, oh, I could
- 11:23Speaker 5: probably just run for it. Well, in the NFL, you
- 11:25Speaker 5: can't do it. Oh no, I can get there, Like
- 11:28Speaker 5: he kind of hesitated for a second, and then he
- 11:30Speaker 5: just kept running and easily picked up the first down.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Sunday specifically, you guys seem to all be heading toward
- 11:37Speaker 5: bigger picture thoughts. So my guess is we're gonna have
- 11:39Speaker 5: an hour and forty five minutes of bigger picture thoughts.
- 11:41Speaker 5: But I would just say, you know, from from ten
- 11:45Speaker 5: thousand feet, I yeah, I don't know a lot of
- 11:49Speaker 5: people who expected a better record necessarily, But I mean,
- 11:53Speaker 5: everybody convinced me or tried to convince me that there's
- 11:57Speaker 5: no way the offense could be as bad as it
- 11:58Speaker 5: was last year. There's no way they'll get quarterback play
- 12:01Speaker 5: that was as bad as it was last year. And
- 12:03Speaker 5: here we are. It's every bit is bad. It's it's
- 12:06Speaker 5: absolutely a different bad, but it's every bit as bad. Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 5: every bit is bad. And you know, it turns out
- 12:13Speaker 5: you do need a left tackle, which every one of
- 12:16Speaker 5: the people in this room said all throughout the offseason, right,
- 12:20Speaker 5: this is not any finger wagging or I told you so,
- 12:23Speaker 5: Like we all thought that they were going to have
- 12:25Speaker 5: a hard time without anybody who played left tackle. One
- 12:28Speaker 5: of the most unfair things that I've seen in all
- 12:32Speaker 5: my years covering the Patriots is what they did to
- 12:34Speaker 5: Demontrat Jacobs on Sunday. Like, you put that kid in
- 12:38Speaker 5: a situation where he's trying to block Leonard Floyd and
- 12:40Speaker 5: Nick Bosa, and what did you expect was going to happen.
- 12:43Speaker 5: The kid competed the whole game, well, he competed for
- 12:45Speaker 5: sixty minutes. He just was powerless to stop the guy.
- 12:48Speaker 4: And it's so funny because you know, in the first quarter,
- 12:51Speaker 4: like percent had time and people on the blog were like, oh,
- 12:55Speaker 4: look like the offensive line is doing okay, and I said,
- 13:00Speaker 4: are going to They can dial up pressure at will.
- 13:02Speaker 4: They just haven't done it yet. And sure enough, as
- 13:05Speaker 4: the game progressed, they started getting to present more and
- 13:08Speaker 4: more and more at will. It was just only a
- 13:11Speaker 4: matter of time.
- 13:12Speaker 10: Yeah, I just to go back to the quarterback contain issue.
- 13:18Speaker 10: To me, it's coaching in two ways. Like it's coaching
- 13:21Speaker 10: that the message is not getting through to the players
- 13:24Speaker 10: that they need to be more disciplined on the edge,
- 13:26Speaker 10: whether they're making business decisions or like looking out for
- 13:31Speaker 10: their own best interests by not doing it or whatever.
- 13:35Speaker 5: It's that way.
- 13:37Speaker 10: They're not getting the players to buy in to what
- 13:40Speaker 10: they're trying to do in terms of their pass rush.
- 13:44Speaker 10: But I would also say schematically that I don't really
- 13:48Speaker 10: like what they're doing. You're running, you know, the third
- 13:51Speaker 10: downplay to Kittle, they run a stunt to Purties left
- 13:56Speaker 10: and there's no there's nothing there to close the pocket.
- 13:58Speaker 10: So like you can't run an aggressive pass rush up
- 14:02Speaker 10: the field and then not have a second layer, Like
- 14:06Speaker 10: there's no there's nobody closing the pocket, there's no spy,
- 14:10Speaker 10: there's nobody at the second level of the defense whatsoever.
- 14:13Speaker 6: So he what does he do?
- 14:15Speaker 10: He sees the stunt coming, he just steps through the
- 14:17Speaker 10: pocket and gets out on the on the edge and
- 14:20Speaker 10: makes a throw. You know, they they've played a ton
- 14:22Speaker 10: of split safety coverage. They play a ton of Cover
- 14:25Speaker 10: two on third down. And when you play cover two
- 14:27Speaker 10: on third down, there's nobody to account for the quarterback.
- 14:30Speaker 5: There's no spy, there's.
- 14:32Speaker 10: No robber, there's no lowhul help, there's nobody at the
- 14:36Speaker 10: first or second level of the defense to count for
- 14:38Speaker 10: the quarterback. So that allows the quarterback of four man
- 14:42Speaker 10: rush to get outside the pocket and extend plays. You know,
- 14:45Speaker 10: in the past with Bill, they would run a lot
- 14:48Speaker 10: of five man rush packages in those situations, and they
- 14:51Speaker 10: would use a mac Wilson or somebody along those lines
- 14:54Speaker 10: as essentially a spy on the quarterback.
- 14:57Speaker 5: So they would.
- 14:58Speaker 10: Allow judon are more uce. They would allow those guys
- 15:03Speaker 10: to tee off and it would be up to mac
- 15:05Speaker 10: Wilson to then get the quarterback on the ground. I
- 15:09Speaker 10: I just really feel like they schematically on third down
- 15:12Speaker 10: are doing a disservice to Keon White, to u CHA
- 15:16Speaker 10: to some of these guys because they're not They're asking
- 15:19Speaker 10: Keon White to be the pass rush and then he
- 15:22Speaker 10: gets up the field and there's nobody there that's a
- 15:24Speaker 10: second layer to help him close the pocket. So I
- 15:27Speaker 10: almost can't really blame him because he he's the only
- 15:30Speaker 10: guy getting after the quarterback. So if you take that
- 15:32Speaker 10: away from him, then you're gonna have no pass rush.
- 15:34Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 9: What was jarring to me was like when the few
- 15:36Speaker 9: plays they would drop key On White out and it
- 15:38Speaker 9: was like they would get nothing. I mean, he's the
- 15:40Speaker 9: only one who gets any kind of disruption. I agree
- 15:43Speaker 9: with you know everything you're saying, And I think there
- 15:45Speaker 9: was you know, one or two play examples though, where
- 15:47Speaker 9: coverage was good. They kept him in the pocket. He's
- 15:49Speaker 9: running backwards, like you said, Fred, he circles back into
- 15:51Speaker 9: the thing and then I think finally the one sack
- 15:53Speaker 9: they got. Actually, that's the play I'm thinking of with Teacher.
- 15:56Speaker 5: I would say in the first half coverage must have
- 15:58Speaker 5: been pretty tough on TV. We always say that. But
- 16:01Speaker 5: in the first half, the coverage must have been pretty good.
- 16:03Speaker 5: I don't know what happened in the second half. Maybe
- 16:05Speaker 5: he was just dugger and they just decided, you know,
- 16:08Speaker 5: we can exploit it over the top and Jalen Hawkins
- 16:10Speaker 5: wasn't you know. It wasn't where we were supposed to be.
- 16:13Speaker 5: But I mean there were I agree with Mike. I
- 16:15Speaker 5: thought there were a lot of plays that I mean,
- 16:19Speaker 5: here what Belichick said about the amount of time that
- 16:21Speaker 5: perty had. It seemed like he had four seconds, five seconds.
- 16:25Speaker 4: In the running around.
- 16:26Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, I think it's it wasn't that there wasn't pressure.
- 16:29Speaker 10: It's just the type of pressure is not the good
- 16:32Speaker 10: kind of pressure. They were, you know, chasing them around
- 16:34Speaker 10: like that.
- 16:35Speaker 5: Not like he was avoiding sacks. He was just moving
- 16:37Speaker 5: around buying time, waiting for someone to uncover.
- 16:40Speaker 4: No, but he wasn't just sitting in a pocket kind
- 16:42Speaker 4: of no, he was.
- 16:44Speaker 5: He was all over that.
- 16:44Speaker 9: I kind of agree with Paul, just like because even
- 16:46Speaker 9: though the next gen thing like you can click and
- 16:48Speaker 9: watch every pressure that they have, and I watch them
- 16:50Speaker 9: like that's a pressure.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I'm not saying it was good pressure, you know, but
- 16:53Speaker 4: he wasn't sitting like a statue in a pocket.
- 16:56Speaker 5: No, because you can't. You gotta wait for guys to uncover. Yeah,
- 16:59Speaker 5: but it wasn't because he was imminently going to be
- 17:01Speaker 5: sacked if he didn't move.
- 17:02Speaker 4: No, No, I know, there wasn't.
- 17:04Speaker 5: There were a couple of times where they had pressure.
- 17:06Speaker 6: We the third down play.
- 17:07Speaker 10: The third down play to Kittle is great coverage down
- 17:09Speaker 10: the field. They had everybody initially covered and they get
- 17:12Speaker 10: pressure on the quarterback. They're just there's no contain so
- 17:15Speaker 10: he just gets outside the pocket. And then at that point,
- 17:18Speaker 10: how long they don't have anyone that covers.
- 17:20Speaker 4: You mentioned last year when they had jude On, and
- 17:23Speaker 4: they don't have jude On, they don't have bar More
- 17:25Speaker 4: and they you know, Keon White came into this league,
- 17:28Speaker 4: is no one knew what he really could do because
- 17:30Speaker 4: he wasn't a pass rusher in college. He didn't have
- 17:32Speaker 4: a lot of sacks. That's not what his game was.
- 17:35Speaker 4: And now all of a sudden, that's his game, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 4: And OUs like.
- 17:40Speaker 5: That's why I wonder about Godshaw's comment. I wonder, you know, like,
- 17:43Speaker 5: all of a sudden, he comes out and he gets
- 17:44Speaker 5: four sacks in the first two weeks. Is that what
- 17:46Speaker 5: he's now? But let's just what I do. Like, I
- 17:49Speaker 5: get sacks, and I'm gonna not worry about my responsibility.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I hate to say it, but for a lot of people,
- 17:54Speaker 4: you know, maybe for some of the players included, but
- 17:56Speaker 4: certainly for fans, winning that first game might have been
- 17:58Speaker 4: the worst thing that ever happened, because all of a sudden,
- 18:01Speaker 4: you're like, oh, I think it's set these these false
- 18:05Speaker 4: hopes now.
- 18:07Speaker 5: I mean, I I don't know.
- 18:08Speaker 9: I guess I just I hope that Keon White is
- 18:11Speaker 9: more of an inexperienced thing than I'm just gonna get mine.
- 18:14Speaker 9: I mean, the Uce thing didn't get a big contract,
- 18:16Speaker 9: had a down year last year. Makes sense that he
- 18:19Speaker 9: wants to get a bunch of sacks to try to
- 18:20Speaker 9: cash in again off this one year deal and maybe
- 18:22Speaker 9: make a better deal, if that makes sense to me.
- 18:24Speaker 9: But you know, like I've you guys know, I've been
- 18:27Speaker 9: talking about this pass rush thing all frigging summer like,
- 18:29Speaker 9: and I kind of feel that way if you look
- 18:32Speaker 9: at it, they just they don't have the horses like
- 18:34Speaker 9: it's and it's hard to look at daniel A quality
- 18:36Speaker 9: and be like, be good, please be good, like he's.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Not that guy, like you know, like like we we
- 18:42Speaker 4: didn't go into twenty twenty four when we talked about
- 18:45Speaker 4: the defense talking about daniel aqualite.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Right, I mean that this is gonna be.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Our or you know, we thought that, or at least
- 18:52Speaker 4: I thought that Keon White could be a disruptor, you know,
- 18:55Speaker 4: kind of along the lines of Barber where he might
- 18:58Speaker 4: compress the pocket. But I didn't look at him as
- 19:01Speaker 4: a finisher. Now he's being asked to make the play,
- 19:06Speaker 4: and that's I don't I don't think it's fair at
- 19:08Speaker 4: this point.
- 19:09Speaker 10: Yeah, I guess I just disagree a little bit with
- 19:12Speaker 10: the panel on that. Like I, I don't think the
- 19:14Speaker 10: issue is that they didn't get pressure on Birdie. I
- 19:16Speaker 10: think the issues is that they can't close the pocket.
- 19:19Speaker 10: And if they had somebody that was not a three
- 19:24Speaker 10: hundred pound daniel A quality like, that's not gonna cut
- 19:26Speaker 10: it right. But you have to have somebody whose responsibility,
- 19:30Speaker 10: who's got some athleticism that can go and get the
- 19:33Speaker 10: quarterback whose responsibility is is when he leaves the pocket,
- 19:36Speaker 10: you're the one chasing him out of the pocket. It
- 19:39Speaker 10: can't be Keon White. If they take Keon White and
- 19:42Speaker 10: tell him just you're you have to contain, then they're
- 19:45Speaker 10: gonna have no pressure on the quarterback.
- 19:47Speaker 6: Ye, So it can't be him.
- 19:49Speaker 10: He's got to be able to go one on one,
- 19:51Speaker 10: just like they would have allowed bar More Juda, and
- 19:53Speaker 10: like Judi would run the hoop constantly and they would
- 19:56Speaker 10: just have other people whose responsibility it was to make
- 20:00Speaker 10: up for it, to make him right, as they would
- 20:02Speaker 10: call it.
- 20:03Speaker 5: And they don't have anybody doing that right now.
- 20:06Speaker 10: And a lot of it, to me, is because they're
- 20:07Speaker 10: playing with those two deep safeties and so there's nobody
- 20:11Speaker 10: near the line of scrimmage. Like if they were playing
- 20:14Speaker 10: you know, Cover one like they would in the past
- 20:16Speaker 10: with Belichick, then they would have a robber, they'd have
- 20:19Speaker 10: a spy or somebody like that that would be able
- 20:23Speaker 10: to track down the quarterback. Now, Kyle Duggar is coming
- 20:26Speaker 10: from like fifteen yards off the ball to try to
- 20:29Speaker 10: close down the quarterback on the Kittle play, and it's
- 20:31Speaker 10: just too long. It's it takes too long to happen.
- 20:34Speaker 10: So it's defensively that that's number one to me. But
- 20:39Speaker 10: that's the tip of the Iceberg and from a coaching standpoint,
- 20:42Speaker 10: like I thought they got thoroughly out coached. And Kyle
- 20:45Speaker 10: Shannan is a really really good I mean, I don't
- 20:47Speaker 10: have to tell you that from my opinion.
- 20:49Speaker 4: But we know your affinity for I think your.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Boy kept the Patriots in the game for a half.
- 20:55Speaker 5: I think it was the second half. No, in the
- 20:56Speaker 5: first half. I think there was some really curious decisions
- 20:59Speaker 5: the end that first half. I think he completely handed
- 21:01Speaker 5: the Patriots three points. You get backed up Barrenger with
- 21:05Speaker 5: another terrific punt toward the end of the half. They're
- 21:08Speaker 5: down around their ten yard line. I mean, you have
- 21:12Speaker 5: a twenty to nothing lead. Just run the ball three
- 21:14Speaker 5: times and go to the half. He throws it on
- 21:16Speaker 5: first down, they bought a handoff on second down. They
- 21:19Speaker 5: lose eight yards, third and eighteen. He's throwing it. You know,
- 21:22Speaker 5: you get a short punt that Patriots take over at
- 21:25Speaker 5: the forty yard That was like three points that just
- 21:27Speaker 5: got handed.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I think because he wanted a double dip so bad.
- 21:31Speaker 5: I just think it was kind of a lack of
- 21:32Speaker 5: respect for the game, like, you know, like they didn't
- 21:35Speaker 5: respect the opponent enough to say like, yeah, we should
- 21:37Speaker 5: probably just be content with a twenty point lead here,
- 21:40Speaker 5: and still it still didn't matter because they were so
- 21:43Speaker 5: much better. You know, like we talk about all the
- 21:45Speaker 5: things that we knew heading into the season. Everybody knew
- 21:48Speaker 5: that game was gonna be kind of like the way
- 21:51Speaker 5: the game was, you know, like when we talked about
- 21:53Speaker 5: it back in July, you know that's gonna be that's
- 21:57Speaker 5: gonna be a tough, tough order. You know, both teams
- 22:01Speaker 5: are really banged up going into the game. Patriots get
- 22:03Speaker 5: a lot more injuries during the game. Andrews and and
- 22:06Speaker 5: Douger those are those are two big injuries, right, you know,
- 22:09Speaker 5: I think Andrews is a really really big one. I've
- 22:11Speaker 5: been one thousand percent with Evan play May play May
- 22:15Speaker 5: play May. With Andrews out, I kind of like, maybe
- 22:19Speaker 5: I can wait another week, you know, maybe I can
- 22:21Speaker 5: wait another week.
- 22:23Speaker 10: I'm not still you know, well, but I'm not super
- 22:25Speaker 10: worried about it, but.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I'm okay like with Andrews out, like, you know.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Let's give the other center a game exactly, get you.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Know, give give Leverett a chance to work with May
- 22:34Speaker 5: a little bit, and you know, maybe you feel a
- 22:36Speaker 5: little bit better about his situation is the best. Now,
- 22:39Speaker 5: I thought Leverett held up okay on some you know,
- 22:41Speaker 5: certainly didn't have any of those snap issues that we
- 22:44Speaker 5: had all summer. Yeah, so you know, maybe he's a
- 22:48Speaker 5: little bit more comfortable now when you go into the
- 22:50Speaker 5: game plan. He's making all those Jake.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Andrews, I know he's out for the season.
- 22:55Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, Yeah. Another grape I have with is like
- 23:00Speaker 9: it just takes a long time to get there and
- 23:02Speaker 9: it's not great ball placement. And I think some of
- 23:04Speaker 9: the some of the completions he had could have been
- 23:07Speaker 9: better gains, you know, if it's out quicker, if it
- 23:09Speaker 9: gets there quicker, if it's in the right spot, rather
- 23:12Speaker 9: than turning the guy upfield. I don't think there's one
- 23:14Speaker 9: one of those polp catches. But now that was that
- 23:16Speaker 9: was just kind of my my big takeaway of going back,
- 23:19Speaker 9: and I'm like, you know, and I hate being that
- 23:20Speaker 9: there's guys open, but his lack of pocket presence and
- 23:25Speaker 9: really understanding, you know, and this is one thing I'm
- 23:27Speaker 9: saying it might be worse with May, Like I'm not
- 23:29Speaker 9: gonna sit here and put May in because his pocket
- 23:32Speaker 9: you know, awareness is going to be better than presettes,
- 23:34Speaker 9: But I just I think there were times and maybe
- 23:36Speaker 9: it's like we talked about Paul on the postgame show,
- 23:38Speaker 9: where he's taken so many hits, he's getting sped up
- 23:41Speaker 9: because there's times there's a pocket there, there's a pocket
- 23:43Speaker 9: to set up and load a quick throw and he
- 23:46Speaker 9: kind of quickly tucks it and you know, and now
- 23:47Speaker 9: we're really lay in the down and he can't make
- 23:50Speaker 9: things happen, so or it's just it's kind of falling
- 23:51Speaker 9: apart a little bit. I don't want to put it
- 23:53Speaker 9: all on per set because I think some of it
- 23:55Speaker 9: is just a ton of issue. But at the same time,
- 23:57Speaker 9: it's when he starts turning the ball over and not
- 24:00Speaker 9: making plays that are there, that's when I say it's maytime.
- 24:03Speaker 5: And at the point that we're making on the post
- 24:05Speaker 5: game guys, I know you guys had the lung flight home,
- 24:08Speaker 5: but just I'm not overly surprised that the turnovers are
- 24:12Speaker 5: starting to come because of the wear and tear. Just
- 24:16Speaker 5: when you get battered every game, it's hard to continue
- 24:19Speaker 5: to say, Okay, that's all right, I'm just not going
- 24:22Speaker 5: to make At some point, you're like, I'm going to
- 24:24Speaker 5: get rid of this one or I'm going to try
- 24:26Speaker 5: to like get out of the pocket. I'm gonna get
- 24:28Speaker 5: I'm gonna get stripped. You know you fumbled three times
- 24:30Speaker 5: on Sunday. Yeah, they only lost one of them. But
- 24:34Speaker 5: I'm not overly surprised that some of those quote unquote
- 24:37Speaker 5: turnover worthy plays are starting to happen because of the
- 24:40Speaker 5: amount of pressure that he's been under.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Gene and Otawa said, just heard Fred browbeat fans because
- 24:45Speaker 4: according to Fred, this is a two to four win team.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I said four to six.
- 24:49Speaker 5: He said six.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Actually, I would agree if this was the first year
- 24:52Speaker 4: of a rebuilt. Is this not the fourth year of rebuilding?
- 24:55Speaker 4: The team is stuck in mud spinning its tires for
- 24:58Speaker 4: four years. I think fans should ex more from their team,
- 25:01Speaker 4: and having low expectations like Fred does simply dooms us
- 25:05Speaker 4: to irrelevance.
- 25:06Speaker 10: Well, just the first year for Elliott Wolf and Drodden. Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 10: they tried to rebuild with Bill. He failed. He got
- 25:12Speaker 10: fired for it.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Like I don't know.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm being realistic and I'm trying to be fair too.
- 25:16Speaker 4: I mean, Jean's right, it's been four years of this meeting,
- 25:20Speaker 4: well not even meeting.
- 25:21Speaker 5: If you want to count. Yeah, if we're going post Brady,
- 25:23Speaker 5: it's the year post Brady.
- 25:25Speaker 4: But to be fair with this regime, it's the first year.
- 25:28Speaker 4: So my expectation going the season was not that they
- 25:31Speaker 4: were going to make the playoffs or even contend for
- 25:35Speaker 4: the playoffs.
- 25:36Speaker 5: Your point about the opener is interesting, like, and I
- 25:38Speaker 5: think it looked and I'm not saying they played a
- 25:42Speaker 5: great game, but it looked like sort of hey, yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 5: like it was buttoned down, you know, like the very
- 25:49Speaker 5: few penalties, very few reckless plays, good sound defense. To
- 25:56Speaker 5: Evan's point, the third down defense was outstanding, and I
- 26:00Speaker 5: think people were like, okay, night, So I can see
- 26:02Speaker 5: where we're going. We might not win a lot of
- 26:03Speaker 5: games because it's going to be hard to win games
- 26:05Speaker 5: just running the ball and not scoring. But now you've
- 26:09Speaker 5: sort of seen some sloppiness come in addition to not
- 26:12Speaker 5: being good enough, you know, and you know, I think
- 26:16Speaker 5: it started sort of with some of the coaching on
- 26:18Speaker 5: the sideline the Seattle game, the end of the half
- 26:20Speaker 5: was not handled well, given away points, given away a
- 26:23Speaker 5: free possession at the end of the half, and certainly,
- 26:26Speaker 5: you know, the turnovers have started to come the last
- 26:28Speaker 5: couple of games and you know, in opportune penalties. I mean,
- 26:32Speaker 5: there was there were some things that I thought, you know,
- 26:35Speaker 5: we're good. I thought there was some at least some
- 26:37Speaker 5: signs of creativity. You know. I didn't agree with everything
- 26:40Speaker 5: they did, but I mean I loved that third down
- 26:43Speaker 5: play in the second half where they throw the lateral
- 26:45Speaker 5: the third and long. I love that play. I did
- 26:48Speaker 5: to it unless it, I mean everybody has it now,
- 26:51Speaker 5: like you know, the Lions did it to beat to
- 26:53Speaker 5: knock the Packers out of the playoffs like two years ago.
- 26:56Speaker 4: But I love that Lions.
- 26:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I just love the play, you know. Well,
- 27:03Speaker 5: I mean, I mean it wasn't necessarily overly creative, but
- 27:06Speaker 5: I loved the touchdown on the on the fourth down,
- 27:08Speaker 5: Like that was a nice play.
- 27:09Speaker 7: Ye.
- 27:09Speaker 5: I mean, everybody knew what they were going to do,
- 27:11Speaker 5: but like it's like it was a good play. Well
- 27:13Speaker 5: you know, you know, and they did it. And yeah,
- 27:16Speaker 5: there was a lot of plays that I didn't I
- 27:18Speaker 5: didn't love running the ball in the middle of the
- 27:19Speaker 5: line on the on the previous fourth down, but I
- 27:23Speaker 5: just think they're so limited what their options are.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Yeah, by the way, this is definite, by the way,
- 27:28Speaker 4: I was listening to the broadcast while I was watching live,
- 27:32Speaker 4: and you know Olsen had the play by play. Yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 4: he does it. Like listening to him again compared to
- 27:39Speaker 4: what break Brady should listen to Olsen because that's how.
- 27:43Speaker 3: You know that's the guy you got fire for.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's how you analyze the game. I don't
- 27:48Speaker 4: need to know who and what. That's what the play
- 27:51Speaker 4: by play guy just told me. I need you to
- 27:53Speaker 4: tell me how and why, And that's what Olson's telling me.
- 27:57Speaker 5: Did you guys hear this the touchdown to Kittle when
- 28:02Speaker 5: he broke down? When Greg Olsen broke down the touchdown
- 28:04Speaker 5: to Kittle and talked about Marcus Jones sort of jumping
- 28:07Speaker 5: underneath because del Pettis, I believe, was supposed to trail
- 28:13Speaker 5: Debo on the crosser and didn't, leaving him all by himself,
- 28:18Speaker 5: and Marcus Jones took like one false step sort of
- 28:21Speaker 5: to go, which got Kittle open, and like, you look
- 28:25Speaker 5: at it immediately, well it looks like Marcus Jones is
- 28:28Speaker 5: responsible for Kittle when he gets beat. But then you
- 28:30Speaker 5: see why he got beat, and you're like, oh, now,
- 28:33Speaker 5: I think a guy like Bill Belichick would certainly say,
- 28:36Speaker 5: do your job. You can't worry about the other guy
- 28:39Speaker 5: who didn't do his because you worrying about that caused
- 28:42Speaker 5: your guy to get open too. So I mean, I'm
- 28:45Speaker 5: not necessarily taking Marcus Jones off the hook, but I
- 28:47Speaker 5: thought that was really good analysis. And I you know,
- 28:50Speaker 5: when you just watch it on TV, like, you don't
- 28:52Speaker 5: pick that up. But when they showed that replay and
- 28:55Speaker 5: he explained it like that, it was like, I can
- 28:56Speaker 5: totally see what he's talking about. That fotall. No, no,
- 29:01Speaker 5: I'm not talking about the actual touchdown was a great
- 29:04Speaker 5: catch by Kittle because it was a terrible throw by Purdy.
- 29:07Speaker 5: He was wide open. All you had to do was
- 29:08Speaker 5: throw it to the back corner. And there has been
- 29:10Speaker 5: nothing that goes to your point, those little guy who
- 29:13Speaker 5: was late and short to the inside. But I think
- 29:17Speaker 5: it would be easy to say, how do they lose
- 29:19Speaker 5: track of Kittle back there? Well, that's that's how. And
- 29:24Speaker 5: again I'm not saying that that means that Marcus Jones
- 29:26Speaker 5: was right to like jump underneath for a split second
- 29:29Speaker 5: to Deebo when it's not his guy. But I thought
- 29:32Speaker 5: Greg Olsen explained it in very simple terms for idiots
- 29:35Speaker 5: like me to say, oh, well, I didn't I didn't
- 29:37Speaker 5: think of it. That.
- 29:38Speaker 4: That's the thing. Sometimes a play like that will happen
- 29:40Speaker 4: on the blog, somebody will say, Fred, what happened on
- 29:42Speaker 4: that play? I have no idea.
- 29:44Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 29:46Speaker 4: I don't know why that guy was wide open.
- 29:48Speaker 5: I mean, you don't have enough room on the blog though,
- 29:49Speaker 5: Favan's answers, right, Yeah.
- 29:52Speaker 6: I just.
- 29:54Speaker 10: I just feel like the biggest thing to me with
- 29:57Speaker 10: what's going on, going back to the week one thing
- 29:59Speaker 10: that you said, Fred, they've put all this stuff on tape,
- 30:03Speaker 10: and now the league that these opponents that they're playing
- 30:08Speaker 10: are adjusting to what they were doing, and right now
- 30:12Speaker 10: the Patriots coaching staff has not adjusted back like there's
- 30:16Speaker 10: been no counter to the counter.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Well, that's it. Do they have a counter?
- 30:19Speaker 6: Well, I offensively, I'd probably say no.
- 30:23Speaker 10: You know, right now they're seeing the highest rate in
- 30:25Speaker 10: the league of single high coverage on offense because you
- 30:28Speaker 10: don't have to worry about the outside receivers, you don't
- 30:31Speaker 10: have to worry about the downfield passing game. So all
- 30:34Speaker 10: the rushing success that they had early on in the
- 30:36Speaker 10: season is going out the door because teams are now
- 30:39Speaker 10: just putting seven eight guys in the box and daring
- 30:41Speaker 10: them to throw the ball over the top.
- 30:43Speaker 5: So that's that.
- 30:45Speaker 10: I don't know if they have a definite answer to
- 30:47Speaker 10: besides playing Drake, but I don't know if they have
- 30:50Speaker 10: a definite answer to defensively. I thought what was so
- 30:54Speaker 10: disappointing about this game was that they go into the
- 30:59Speaker 10: game playing so Nickel and Marcus Jones is just getting
- 31:03Speaker 10: run over at the Nickel spot, like they just they
- 31:06Speaker 10: can't stop the run out of Nickel, and so what
- 31:09Speaker 10: do they do? They go into base defense, and I
- 31:14Speaker 10: don't know if Isaiah Bolden can play or not. I
- 31:16Speaker 10: don't know, but I would have liked to have seen
- 31:19Speaker 10: something a little bit more creative in that spot, like, Okay,
- 31:22Speaker 10: so you have five foot eight Marcus Jones who can't
- 31:25Speaker 10: block Juwan or can't take on a block from Juwan
- 31:28Speaker 10: Jennings or George Kittle, Like surprise, surprise, why don't we
- 31:32Speaker 10: put a big Nickel out there instead of Marcus Jones?
- 31:35Speaker 5: You know, when they.
- 31:35Speaker 10: Signize it, when they signed Isaiah Bolden to the roster,
- 31:40Speaker 10: that's sort of what I was hoping was going to
- 31:43Speaker 10: be the plan. Potentially, if they couldn't stop the run
- 31:45Speaker 10: out of their traditional nickel.
- 31:47Speaker 5: So what do they do.
- 31:48Speaker 10: They put bass on the field, and now Jelani Tavai
- 31:51Speaker 10: is twenty yards deep trying to chase Brandon Aiyuk going
- 31:55Speaker 10: across the field. And all five explosive passing plays the
- 32:00Speaker 10: forty nine ers in this game came against base defense.
- 32:03Speaker 10: So four dbs on the field. Brock Purty averaged sixteen
- 32:08Speaker 10: yards per attempt against the Patriots and base So they
- 32:12Speaker 10: got into this position where they couldn't stop the run
- 32:14Speaker 10: in nickel and they couldn't stop the passing base And
- 32:17Speaker 10: so that's how you have all of this going on.
- 32:20Speaker 10: And to me, like that's the coaching just is a
- 32:23Speaker 10: step behind there. You know, Kyle gets him into those
- 32:26Speaker 10: base packages and he just starts passing the ball.
- 32:30Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, and I listen,
- 32:33Speaker 4: I appreciate that breakdown. I think that's really good analysis.
- 32:37Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, isn't it They
- 32:39Speaker 4: didn't They just don't have the players.
- 32:42Speaker 5: You know, in this particular game San Francisco, I think
- 32:45Speaker 5: does that to a lot of teams.
- 32:46Speaker 4: Yeah, but even outside of this game, they just don't
- 32:50Speaker 4: have the depth to even do what you're saying to
- 32:52Speaker 4: you know, like it could be worse and they might
- 32:55Speaker 4: know that if they do.
- 32:57Speaker 5: But the interesting thing to me listening to Evan talk
- 33:00Speaker 5: about that, because I didn't really you know, it's hard
- 33:03Speaker 5: to see exactly what they're in every play when you're
- 33:05Speaker 5: watching on TV, and you know, when you watch and
- 33:09Speaker 5: you just sort of see flashes like Marcus Jones, to me,
- 33:12Speaker 5: looks like he's played reasonably well. And I think we
- 33:15Speaker 5: both pointed him out. I don't think we put him
- 33:16Speaker 5: on the good list or anything, but I think we
- 33:18Speaker 5: both pointed him out as he might be the you know,
- 33:20Speaker 5: the most consistent guy. I think he's been a pretty
- 33:22Speaker 5: sure tackler and whatnot, But you don't really see him
- 33:26Speaker 5: getting manhandled in the run game like the way Evan
- 33:29Speaker 5: just explained. That's a I mean, that's a big part
- 33:32Speaker 5: of that. If you're going to be out there, you
- 33:34Speaker 5: know you need especially when you're going against a team
- 33:36Speaker 5: like this that wants to run the ball to the edges.
- 33:38Speaker 5: This this stress, this stress out there and they're going
- 33:41Speaker 5: to play another one. Those defensive backs need to hold up.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Kyle Shanahan, He's he's recognizing what we're doing well.
- 33:47Speaker 5: The thing that I the thing that I was really
- 33:48Speaker 5: impressed with for Evans boy, I took a shot at
- 33:50Speaker 5: Shanahan earlier. I'm gonna I give him a ton of
- 33:53Speaker 5: credit for, you know, dials up three bombs on first downs,
- 33:57Speaker 5: and two of them were really pitch and catch, to
- 34:01Speaker 5: be honest with you, and one of them, I thought
- 34:03Speaker 5: Gonzalez had excellent coverage on the On the one that
- 34:05Speaker 5: was incomplete, I thought Gonzalez was right with Conley. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 34:11Speaker 5: Chris Conley, which maybe I'd take a few points away
- 34:16Speaker 5: from your boy Shanahan on that one, but he obviously
- 34:20Speaker 5: saw something Again. I don't know if it was because
- 34:22Speaker 5: Douger was hurt and they felt like they could exploit this.
- 34:25Speaker 12: Uh.
- 34:25Speaker 5: Jalen Hawkins definitely is coming down to worry about the
- 34:30Speaker 5: over instead of worrying about I think it was debo
- 34:35Speaker 5: on the first one and leaves Jonathan Jones all by
- 34:37Speaker 5: himself on an island and he got dusted, and only
- 34:41Speaker 5: because he's so competitive. Jonathan Jones puldvented a touchdown. Marcus
- 34:45Speaker 5: Jones very competitive. I mean he goes up and he
- 34:48Speaker 5: he you know, he does all he can. But to
- 34:51Speaker 5: Evans point, he's five to eight and Juwan Jennings is
- 34:54Speaker 5: what he is. He just goes up and makes the catch.
- 34:56Speaker 5: It wasn't like a overly difficult catch, but it was
- 35:00Speaker 5: headitive coverage. But I give Shannahan credit for identifying that.
- 35:03Speaker 5: And you know, what is it four plays of thirty
- 35:06Speaker 5: eight yards or more or something like that.
- 35:08Speaker 10: Yeah, they just don't have the horses in the front
- 35:11Speaker 10: seven at the linebacker level to play as much zone
- 35:15Speaker 10: defense as they're playing in certain spots because like the
- 35:20Speaker 10: forty nine Ers can play zone like that because they
- 35:22Speaker 10: have Fred Warner. So when Fred Warner has to run
- 35:25Speaker 10: the hole and cover two, it's like basically a safety
- 35:28Speaker 10: doing it.
- 35:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 35:29Speaker 10: So the Patriots, instead of Fred Warner, it's Jolanie Devai
- 35:32Speaker 10: or it's ray Kwan McMillan. And I'm not like picking
- 35:35Speaker 10: on those guys, Oh it's not, but that's not their game.
- 35:38Speaker 10: And maybe they would have adjusted to Dougger being in
- 35:42Speaker 10: that spot if he was healthy, But that's that's the breaks.
- 35:46Speaker 10: Like you got to figure out a way to get
- 35:48Speaker 10: into some different personnel to take those things away. And
- 35:52Speaker 10: you know, Hawkins is jumping the over because that's what
- 35:55Speaker 10: they've been killing them on the entire game.
- 35:58Speaker 5: You know, they hit why I give you a boy
- 35:59Speaker 5: credit one step ahead.
- 36:01Speaker 10: Yeah, they hit Jennings, they hit ayuk on two explosives
- 36:04Speaker 10: earlier on in the game on the over in the concept.
- 36:07Speaker 10: So what does Hawkins do? He jumps the over and
- 36:09Speaker 10: they throw the posts like that. It's really simple stuff
- 36:12Speaker 10: that they're doing schematically from an offensive standpoints. Just timing
- 36:16Speaker 10: up those shots was really well done by Shanahan. So
- 36:21Speaker 10: you know, those are the tough things. But you know,
- 36:23Speaker 10: we talked on catch twenty two about like Marte Mapu
- 36:26Speaker 10: being that that bigger nickel, you know, Isaiah Bolden being
- 36:29Speaker 10: that bigger nickel, Like you have to find ways to
- 36:33Speaker 10: just stay in personnel that can stop the pass. You
- 36:35Speaker 10: can't give up five explosive passes.
- 36:38Speaker 4: El from Wisconsin. It's not the record that fans are
- 36:40Speaker 4: upset about. It's that watching this offense is the equivalent
- 36:43Speaker 4: of shoving ice picks into your eyes.
- 36:45Speaker 5: I agree with that teams.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Can be bad but still watchable. This isn't. Even if
- 36:50Speaker 4: May has a rough start, at least he's learning I've
- 36:52Speaker 4: watched football my whole life, and I can't play quarterback.
- 36:56Speaker 4: He needs to actually play to grow.
- 36:58Speaker 5: No, and like that's the point that the slight pushback
- 37:02Speaker 5: with I had with Fred's opening opening take is that, yes,
- 37:05Speaker 5: I think we all expected to struggle as a team
- 37:09Speaker 5: and not necessarily go, you know, eleven and six and
- 37:12Speaker 5: win the AFC East. But everybody was convinced it couldn't
- 37:16Speaker 5: be any worse offensively, and it is. It's tough to watch.
- 37:21Speaker 5: It's tough when it's when it's third and eight and
- 37:23Speaker 5: you're like, this is a good time to go get
- 37:25Speaker 5: a drink and I'll be back after the punt and
- 37:27Speaker 5: I'll watch the next series because you don't think there's
- 37:29Speaker 5: really much shot. Yeah, that's that's a hard way.
- 37:31Speaker 4: To to me that team just right now. And I
- 37:34Speaker 4: hate to say it it's just because of Jacoby.
- 37:37Speaker 5: I don't think it's just because of now.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Oh, if Drake May was in there, you wouldn't be
- 37:40Speaker 4: going to get a drunk.
- 37:41Speaker 5: No, no, no, no, that's but that's not the same thing.
- 37:44Speaker 5: I wouldn't have all that much more faith that they're
- 37:46Speaker 5: going to convert it. Why because they have no protection
- 37:49Speaker 5: and they have no threats.
- 37:50Speaker 4: But he figure it out. That's okay.
- 37:52Speaker 5: So you're thinking, so Gerad is really screwing this up.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Then I think that he needs to make the call.
- 37:58Speaker 10: Okay, I think Giad is screwing it up. I'll say
- 38:00Speaker 10: it like I on third down. They have plays to
- 38:03Speaker 10: be made, like it's you know, Kaishan Boody is open
- 38:06Speaker 10: on the dig route and he just doesn't throw the
- 38:08Speaker 10: ball like he's open, like.
- 38:12Speaker 5: Terry Pickin terrible, Like I told you guys that he
- 38:17Speaker 5: couldn't play, and you guys all yelled at me. So
- 38:19Speaker 5: now he can't play in that, and now you guys
- 38:22Speaker 5: want a new guy. This is not just about the quarterback.
- 38:24Speaker 5: This is way bigger than just I'm not saying.
- 38:26Speaker 4: I'm not saying it's not just about the quarterback. But
- 38:29Speaker 4: he would give you hope so that I would have
- 38:31Speaker 4: hope because I think third and eight.
- 38:33Speaker 5: No, I would have hope that he's going to get
- 38:35Speaker 5: better as he continues to play. I don't have hope
- 38:38Speaker 5: that it would look dramatically better Sunday, I don't it might.
- 38:42Speaker 5: I hope that by the end of eight weeks, nine weeks,
- 38:45Speaker 5: twelve weeks, he's ready to go. If that's why I
- 38:47Speaker 5: wanted to play, Yes, that's what I wanted to play.
- 38:50Speaker 5: I'm with Evan, I'm play may. I am like absolutely
- 38:55Speaker 5: because I knew what Brissette was. Again, you guys all
- 38:58Speaker 5: yelled at me when I said I'm not convinced he's
- 39:01Speaker 5: better than Mac Jones.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I never yelled at him.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Are you're right? You give me them, you give me
- 39:06Speaker 5: the smile because you don't, because you don't yell.
- 39:08Speaker 6: I don't yell.
- 39:09Speaker 3: But but everybody.
- 39:10Speaker 5: Pushed back when I said I'm not convinced that this
- 39:13Speaker 5: is going to be better than Mac Jones. Everybody pushed
- 39:15Speaker 5: back on that. You hate Matt, Yes, I do. I
- 39:19Speaker 5: have no use for Mac Jones. This guy has never
- 39:21Speaker 5: been consistently better than Mac Jones. And then he's not
- 39:24Speaker 5: better than Mac Jones, and people were stunned.
- 39:26Speaker 10: I don't know how I think I understood just how
- 39:29Speaker 10: much that Cleveland, OH Line was doing for them in
- 39:32Speaker 10: twenty two because he was better. Persett was better in
- 39:35Speaker 10: twenty two.
- 39:36Speaker 5: Maybe a couple of games just like Mac for a
- 39:38Speaker 5: couple of games in twenty one was okay, But it
- 39:41Speaker 5: wasn't ever about him. No in Cleveland was never about Pert.
- 39:46Speaker 5: That's my point is I think that the they won
- 39:48Speaker 5: more games even that year when Deshaun Watson, who looks
- 39:52Speaker 5: like he has completely done started playing.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Washed to wash Watson, that's my name for him. All right,
- 39:58Speaker 4: let's go to the TPX. How Jose in New Hampshire.
- 40:01Speaker 4: What's up, Joe, Joe?
- 40:06Speaker 13: Can you hear it?
- 40:07Speaker 5: Yes?
- 40:09Speaker 14: All right?
- 40:09Speaker 15: So Evan touched on it a few minutes ago. I
- 40:12Speaker 15: was wondering if putting May in will cause the defense
- 40:15Speaker 15: to kind of stop stacking the box, and if that
- 40:18Speaker 15: could help the offense look better by opening up the
- 40:20Speaker 15: run game a little bit and maybe some of the
- 40:22Speaker 15: short throws rather than just watching May bomb and sixty
- 40:25Speaker 15: yards down the field they did off the air.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that's the hope. But he's gonna have
- 40:29Speaker 4: to prove that they're not gonna like just say all right,
- 40:32Speaker 4: a mazing. We have to respect that. He's going to
- 40:34Speaker 4: have to make them pay first before they back off.
- 40:37Speaker 10: If they want to give him iso shots on the
- 40:39Speaker 10: outside them good luck. Like that's the one thing I
- 40:41Speaker 10: trust that he could actually do. Like he's not even
- 40:44Speaker 10: reading the field at that point, like you're just you
- 40:46Speaker 10: know I I it just frustrates me to like watch
- 40:50Speaker 10: Jakobe make rookie mistakes and then say we can't play
- 40:53Speaker 10: the rookie because he's gonna make rookie mistakes. I like,
- 40:56Speaker 10: it's like he you know, on third down, they have
- 41:00Speaker 10: a they run you know, crossers mesh mesh concept and
- 41:04Speaker 10: it's man to man coverage. Nobody covers Hunter Henry. It's
- 41:07Speaker 10: a coverage bust, like he's he's uncovered on the play
- 41:11Speaker 10: and Persette climbs up into a clean pocket and gets
- 41:16Speaker 10: himself into pressure.
- 41:17Speaker 6: That is exactly what people tell me is why Drake
- 41:20Speaker 6: May can't play.
- 41:21Speaker 10: It is because he's gonna cause his own pressure. But
- 41:24Speaker 10: I have But it's okay if Jacoby does that, because
- 41:27Speaker 10: he's like this sacrificial lamb out there, and what difference
- 41:29Speaker 10: does it make. But that's the biggest thing I think
- 41:33Speaker 10: Drake May would bring to the table is third down.
- 41:36Speaker 10: Like I don't know if it's gonna be clean all
- 41:38Speaker 10: the time, but he to me, I really believe that
- 41:41Speaker 10: Drake would make more plays on it.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Don't get don't I hope no one's getting confused that
- 41:46Speaker 4: I think, Oh, if we put Drake May in all
- 41:48Speaker 4: of a sudden, you know they're gonna be scoring points
- 41:50Speaker 4: and you know, winning games. No, it's gonna be rough,
- 41:54Speaker 4: but at least we start the process and at least
- 41:57Speaker 4: at times we're gonna see some you know, quarterback play,
- 42:02Speaker 4: you know, some NFL quarterback play.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I just don't like necessarily all of
- 42:08Speaker 5: that I agree with. That's why I want to play him.
- 42:11Speaker 5: I want to play him so I can get him
- 42:13Speaker 5: to the point where I know if he's my guy
- 42:16Speaker 5: as quickly as I can. I don't want to wait
- 42:18Speaker 5: a whole year before I find that out. I want
- 42:20Speaker 5: to find that out now. But I don't think that
- 42:24Speaker 5: the the way that teams play them is going to change.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Until they get it.
- 42:31Speaker 5: So what I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about
- 42:33Speaker 5: the receivers, Like I think Evan's right, I think there
- 42:36Speaker 5: have been some guys underneath. I think, Mike, when you
- 42:38Speaker 5: talked about, you know, seeing do Mario Douglas or whatever,
- 42:41Speaker 5: there's some guys underneath. And I think I don't think
- 42:45Speaker 5: Drake May is going to make those receivers, you know,
- 42:48Speaker 5: more of a threat to get down the field. Now.
- 42:50Speaker 5: He's going to throw balls up, maybe more often than
- 42:52Speaker 5: Brissett does, and maybe you come down with them like
- 42:54Speaker 5: the one that Polk almost came down with on that
- 42:56Speaker 5: hail Mary on the fourth down. But like, I just
- 43:00Speaker 5: don't think those guys, I don't think you're gonna all
- 43:02Speaker 5: of a sudden say, well, now we've got to stop
- 43:04Speaker 5: playing too high against them, because no, no, I still can't.
- 43:09Speaker 5: I'm gonna the receivers are not going to change.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I totally the making.
- 43:14Speaker 4: But if he hits Pop underneath, you know a little
- 43:17Speaker 4: bit more, now he's going to have to He's going
- 43:19Speaker 4: to earn the respect of the of the defense.
- 43:22Speaker 5: But it's not going to make them back off, is
- 43:24Speaker 5: my point.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Well, it's gonna make them play up and maybe some
- 43:27Speaker 4: intermediate passes will develop.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm I'm I'm with Paul on this one.
- 43:32Speaker 9: And that's even with my positivity of feeling positive about
- 43:35Speaker 9: Douglas and whatever.
- 43:38Speaker 5: Is saying is going to happen. I have to hope
- 43:41Speaker 5: that Hunter Henry on the dig route that Jacoby Pressett's
- 43:44Speaker 5: missing is not okay, So who was going to dig round?
- 43:47Speaker 5: Booty booty booty, Like I have to hope that May
- 43:51Speaker 5: is going to hit those right so I can get
- 43:53Speaker 5: I get first down, you know, That's what I have
- 43:56Speaker 5: to hope. I don't have this illusion that well you know,
- 43:59Speaker 5: Sasca now is going to have to really worry about
- 44:02Speaker 5: Taekwon hes gonna have. But the one thing I would
- 44:06Speaker 5: say that.
- 44:06Speaker 10: With Polk, Polk is one of those guys and the
- 44:09Speaker 10: back shoulder throw is a perfect example of this where
- 44:12Speaker 10: you need to put the ball like on Jalen Polk,
- 44:14Speaker 10: like he's not gonna out, He's not gonna catch it
- 44:17Speaker 10: over the shoulder because he doesn't have that kind of speed.
- 44:20Speaker 10: So if you put it up on a platter for
- 44:23Speaker 10: him and allow him to use his hands as his
- 44:25Speaker 10: body control, like that's where he makes plays down the field.
- 44:28Speaker 10: And Pennix would just do that all the time at Washington,
- 44:31Speaker 10: just back shoulders, high points.
- 44:34Speaker 6: Like things like that.
- 44:35Speaker 10: And uh and you saw that on Sunday in the
- 44:38Speaker 10: game on the one catch that he had that he's
- 44:39Speaker 10: able to do that. I think Drake would be more
- 44:42Speaker 10: willing to pull the trigger on those types of throws
- 44:44Speaker 10: where he's throwing guys open instead of seeing him wide open,
- 44:48Speaker 10: you know, down the field and then throwing them.
- 44:50Speaker 9: He's got a good shake to him, like you know,
- 44:52Speaker 9: and I think we always are qualifying with him because
- 44:55Speaker 9: he doesn't have the four three speed. I think he
- 44:57Speaker 9: can play. I think he's a tough player. I think
- 45:00Speaker 9: if you took him Pop born next year and you
- 45:03Speaker 9: add in that alpha dog with some legit speed. To
- 45:06Speaker 9: what Paul is saying, that's when you start to cook
- 45:08Speaker 9: with gas. But what's encouraging to me is just that
- 45:11Speaker 9: I felt like, even going into the summer, you're looking
- 45:13Speaker 9: at a mishmash of receivers. You don't really know what
- 45:16Speaker 9: they can do well. A couple of years ago, you
- 45:18Speaker 9: didn't have anybody who could separate. And I feel pretty
- 45:21Speaker 9: good about the kind of separation. Folk's gonna get it.
- 45:24Speaker 9: It's unique to him, but he can separate. He can
- 45:27Speaker 9: get away from guys. And if you get a quarterback
- 45:28Speaker 9: who knows how to throw with anticipation and can put
- 45:30Speaker 9: it on him, he's gonna be a tough, productive guy
- 45:33Speaker 9: who's gonna pick up big first downs. Pop's gonna shake
- 45:36Speaker 9: people on third down. To your point, Fred like he's
- 45:38Speaker 9: gonna get open quick, no question. I agree with Paul though.
- 45:41Speaker 9: They need that piece on the outside. They need somebody
- 45:44Speaker 9: with speed that has live legs, that gives them something
- 45:47Speaker 9: to think about, because may we'll throw it to him,
- 45:49Speaker 9: But that's the miss, that's the missing because I actually.
- 45:51Speaker 5: Think if you start completing more of those passes, it's
- 45:55Speaker 5: gonna cause the defense to get even more condensed. Sure. Yeah,
- 46:00Speaker 5: the least you find a way to get down the
- 46:02Speaker 5: field with different players, it's gonna make Like I think
- 46:06Speaker 5: right now, teams are playing very soft on them because
- 46:09Speaker 5: they can't because they know they can't complete. To Evan's point,
- 46:11Speaker 5: in Mike's point, Brissette's missing too many of these opportunities.
- 46:15Speaker 5: So why do you why would you take any chances right,
- 46:17Speaker 5: Why would you come up on third and eight say
- 46:19Speaker 5: I got to get right in this guy's shirt on
- 46:21Speaker 5: this like little four yard shallow cross because they don't
- 46:23Speaker 5: complete enough of them, ETD.
- 46:26Speaker 10: So I just feel like I think it's the opposite.
- 46:29Speaker 10: I feel like end in these guys' faces constantly see.
- 46:32Speaker 5: I think that they're content to let these passes happen
- 46:36Speaker 5: because they know they ain't going to complete enough of
- 46:37Speaker 5: them to beat them. It's like they're not going to
- 46:40Speaker 5: come up and just say I'm just going to sell
- 46:42Speaker 5: out and do everything you know and worry about the run.
- 46:46Speaker 5: Gift go ahead. And Tennessee ran the ball all night
- 46:48Speaker 5: last night. They couldn't score. They couldn't get the ball
- 46:50Speaker 5: in the end zone. They kept having to get fifty
- 46:52Speaker 5: five yard field goals by one hundred and eleven year
- 46:54Speaker 5: old Nick Folk, right, three fifty plus yard field goals.
- 46:59Speaker 10: Norm I would agree with what you're saying in terms
- 47:02Speaker 10: of the big picture, But the Patriots downfield passing game
- 47:06Speaker 10: is so nonexistent. Oh yeah that the last two weeks,
- 47:10Speaker 10: they are all up on the line of scrimmage, like
- 47:11Speaker 10: they're getting the boxes that are crazy, like there's like
- 47:14Speaker 10: eleven guys within ten.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Yards they are. But I don't think they're necessarily getting
- 47:19Speaker 5: in people's grills. I mean, maybe you see it differently.
- 47:21Speaker 5: I don't. I see guys running across the field and
- 47:24Speaker 5: they they seem like they're kind of open at times
- 47:27Speaker 5: on these little shallow crosses. Now, maybe it takes two,
- 47:29Speaker 5: like they kept showing one for Douglas the other day.
- 47:31Speaker 5: That seemed to me like took twenty minutes from they
- 47:33Speaker 5: get across the field before we finally cleared that was
- 47:36Speaker 5: the one they kept showing. They kept showing the iso
- 47:38Speaker 5: of the secondary when you have no idea what's happening
- 47:40Speaker 5: in the backfield, but they can't complete them, like if
- 47:45Speaker 5: it's Evan and Mike, and they're right, and it's because
- 47:48Speaker 5: of Brissett. Maybe May starts to complete those and I
- 47:51Speaker 5: think that they're going to adjust and say, Okay, we
- 47:53Speaker 5: got to take that away. Of course we got to
- 47:55Speaker 5: take that away. But right now there's no threat to
- 47:57Speaker 5: get behind you, and no one's worried about it all now.
- 48:00Speaker 5: And I don't think that changes whether it's mayover.
- 48:02Speaker 6: I think the only thing that makes change.
- 48:04Speaker 10: I think maybe the only thing that changes with me
- 48:07Speaker 10: is I have to keep defending my boy because he
- 48:09Speaker 10: should be playing. It is the off script stuff. So
- 48:12Speaker 10: when he starts to break the pocket and he goes
- 48:14Speaker 10: off script, that gives guys more time to get opened
- 48:18Speaker 10: down the field. So you're not asking them to be
- 48:20Speaker 10: Tyreek kill and just run by somebody because now all
- 48:23Speaker 10: of a sudden, the play is four or five seconds into.
- 48:25Speaker 5: It, which is totally different.
- 48:27Speaker 10: Right, And maybe you can get some guys opened down
- 48:29Speaker 10: down the field that way, and then, like he showed
- 48:31Speaker 10: in the preseason in Washington, even though the play didn't count, I.
- 48:35Speaker 5: Know you guys were exhausted. So I assume you didn't
- 48:37Speaker 5: see much of the Seattle Detroit game last night. I
- 48:40Speaker 5: did yeah. I feel like I continue to owe Gino
- 48:43Speaker 5: Smith an apology some of the plays he made, like
- 48:47Speaker 5: that that you're talking about Evan last night, Like yeah,
- 48:49Speaker 5: they gotta they dial up a blitz and there's like
- 48:53Speaker 5: Angeloni right on them, or some like uh, was it
- 48:56Speaker 5: Kirby Joseph? What's the guy's name that set the safety?
- 48:59Speaker 5: I think thirty one, I forget his name. He had
- 49:01Speaker 5: him dead to rights a couple of times. He just
- 49:03Speaker 5: like shakes it off, runs around, buys time, and then
- 49:06Speaker 5: he's like throwing a missile like eighteen yards to lock it,
- 49:11Speaker 5: like down the middle of the field. Like that's what
- 49:14Speaker 5: Drake May can do. Drake May can avoid that one sack.
- 49:18Speaker 5: And now all of a sudden, it goes from advantage
- 49:21Speaker 5: defense because you dialed up a great blitz and should
- 49:24Speaker 5: have had a sack, but you missed it. Now it's
- 49:26Speaker 5: advantage offense because now you have an athletic quarterback who's
- 49:29Speaker 5: broken containment. And now your average receivers are above average
- 49:33Speaker 5: because now it's off script, and now that the coverage
- 49:37Speaker 5: is out of position, you can't I don't care how
- 49:39Speaker 5: good you are, you can't cover for that long right,
- 49:42Speaker 5: And I think that's what you potentially could get from
- 49:44Speaker 5: Drake May, Like now you're speaking my Gino was really
- 49:47Speaker 5: good last night. I don't know if you guys out
- 49:49Speaker 5: any of the.
- 49:49Speaker 6: Highlights the number one offense in the league in DVA.
- 49:51Speaker 5: I mean he threw for like four hundred yards and
- 49:55Speaker 5: every time he was out there, he had to score
- 49:57Speaker 5: because it was one of those games that Detroit just
- 49:59Speaker 5: scored at you know, you know, golf win eighteen for
- 50:01Speaker 5: eighteen in the game, yep, for like three hundred yards.
- 50:04Speaker 5: It wasn't like it was checking down every place for
- 50:06Speaker 5: me to throw.
- 50:07Speaker 10: Golf died, I don't even know who the receiver is
- 50:09Speaker 10: and just over the middle with anticipation on an absolute
- 50:14Speaker 10: laser and I was just like, holy crap, Like you know,
- 50:18Speaker 10: the Patriots never do that, Like there's never any anticipation.
- 50:22Speaker 5: There's never anything. Two teams that could pass the ball.
- 50:25Speaker 10: Yeah, Like the Seahawks were passing the ball because Gino
- 50:28Speaker 10: was playing great and their receivers are great. Golf was
- 50:32Speaker 10: fitting the ball and into a key hole and they're
- 50:35Speaker 10: either way you slide.
- 50:38Speaker 5: Yeah, Like just like what a beautiful play to get
- 50:42Speaker 5: your speech to sort of that kind of space across
- 50:45Speaker 5: the field. You hit him in stride, he turns it
- 50:47Speaker 5: up and it's like boom. I mean you can score
- 50:49Speaker 5: that fast.
- 50:50Speaker 9: There was one like Polk on a comeback to I
- 50:52Speaker 9: think on the left sideline where it's like he stops,
- 50:54Speaker 9: he turns around, He's like waiting for a beat.
- 50:56Speaker 3: You know, there's never turn around. It's right there, you know,
- 50:59Speaker 3: with that kind of anticipation with it.
- 51:00Speaker 10: Yeah, he's he doesn't like to throw, you know, like
- 51:04Speaker 10: those types of hitch routes. Those hitch routes are are
- 51:08Speaker 10: pre snap anticipatory throws, like you're not waiting to see
- 51:12Speaker 10: those types of throws open when you get the cushion
- 51:15Speaker 10: and they call them free access where there's like nothing
- 51:17Speaker 10: underneath it. You just you're just throwing it off, feel
- 51:20Speaker 10: at the lot and Brissette doesn't want to do that.
- 51:23Speaker 6: He wants to see it like.
- 51:24Speaker 5: Two or three of them, like in the on the
- 51:26Speaker 5: first possession, it's like they dial it up. They talk
- 51:28Speaker 5: about it all week, they have a script and you
- 51:31Speaker 5: see it like and you know Mayo talked about it
- 51:33Speaker 5: like the idea was to really get the ball out
- 51:35Speaker 5: of his hands quickly, and you see it like there
- 51:37Speaker 5: was an early third down quick out to Douglas I
- 51:40Speaker 5: think you know there was Yeah, the sprint out. That
- 51:44Speaker 5: was the play. That's the one I was thinking about.
- 51:46Speaker 5: You know, it was like boom boom boom bank. You know,
- 51:48Speaker 5: like nothing to think about, nothing to wait on, just
- 51:51Speaker 5: throw it, you know, had another one I think to
- 51:53Speaker 5: Henry for a first down in the first quarter. That
- 51:55Speaker 5: make those just go away. And I think it's the
- 51:58Speaker 5: cumulative effect of getting the snot kicked out of you
- 52:01Speaker 5: over the course of sixty minutes now for four straight games,
- 52:05Speaker 5: where that's what I think that's knocking him off. That's
- 52:07Speaker 5: why I think it might be time. I mean, I
- 52:09Speaker 5: just like, get a fresh set of eyes out there
- 52:11Speaker 5: who's not used to taking the pounding, and maybe he
- 52:14Speaker 5: starts making some play.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Is there any way to prevent that with Drake May
- 52:17Speaker 3: when he does get in here.
- 52:18Speaker 4: I mean that's Oh, it's just avoiding it and extending it.
- 52:20Speaker 4: I mean, you just hope he's a little bit more mobile. Yeah,
- 52:23Speaker 4: that's it. I mean he's gonna get the snot kicked
- 52:25Speaker 4: out of him too.
- 52:25Speaker 16: No.
- 52:25Speaker 3: I mean, Evan like exactly exactly what I was.
- 52:29Speaker 9: Thinking last night, where it's like if if we're gonna
- 52:31Speaker 9: watch Jacoby Brissett kind of unable to move in the
- 52:33Speaker 9: pocket and have no feel like I'd rather just watch
- 52:36Speaker 9: Drake May doing it so that he can start to
- 52:37Speaker 9: learn a little bit and you know, get it.
- 52:39Speaker 3: But I mean, I will say too, I don't it's.
- 52:42Speaker 9: Not all on Jacoby Brissette, Like I don't want to
- 52:44Speaker 9: make it sound like, oh god, they'd be great, Like
- 52:46Speaker 9: there are definitely issues on the offensive line that are
- 52:48Speaker 9: you know, and even the guys said yesterday, I mean
- 52:50Speaker 9: Gibson talking on the media, like, you know, Jacoby admits
- 52:53Speaker 9: some plays on him and other ones. We just we
- 52:55Speaker 9: got to protect him. That's how bad football teams are.
- 52:57Speaker 9: It's like whack them all with problems on both sides
- 52:59Speaker 9: of the all. But for me, it just feels like
- 53:02Speaker 9: it's getting to a point where you're not really being
- 53:05Speaker 9: that net neutral quarterback we need you to be if
- 53:07Speaker 9: you're gonna start hurting it and missing plays and not,
- 53:10Speaker 9: you know, not even running the offense that's there to
- 53:13Speaker 9: be taken.
- 53:14Speaker 3: It's it's all right, clocks taking.
- 53:15Speaker 4: TPX up line eight five to five, pass five hundred.
- 53:18Speaker 4: Shane's in Houston, what's up, Shane? Shane and Houston.
- 53:24Speaker 11: Hey, hey, hey, yeah, Houston.
- 53:31Speaker 17: Listeners kills for about ten years ago. Of everything you
- 53:36Speaker 17: guys say, some points that I wanted to touch up on.
- 53:41Speaker 17: I don't really think putting in je May over to
- 53:45Speaker 17: Kobe Myer as well as both his team, I think
- 53:49Speaker 17: they're kind of back. I think the only confident looking
- 53:54Speaker 17: team in the NFL, maybe outside of like North Carolina.
- 53:58Speaker 17: The guy go back looks to me like they're in
- 54:01Speaker 17: such a hall that they put yourself in it. I'll think,
- 54:05Speaker 17: I just want to make I don't really think this
- 54:08Speaker 17: peer is gonna be salvage it almost And I don't
- 54:11Speaker 17: want to be coctive, but I do think there's some
- 54:14Speaker 17: good things really fly. Maybe you can see your long term.
- 54:19Speaker 5: But I can't.
- 54:20Speaker 4: It's it's a bad connection. But I think the point
- 54:24Speaker 4: is he doesn't think putting in May is going to
- 54:26Speaker 4: salvage a season, which I agree, it's not going to
- 54:29Speaker 4: salvage a season, but it will begin, it will begin
- 54:32Speaker 4: the clock on May's progress, on May as a quarterback
- 54:36Speaker 4: of the of the Patriots going forward, and that's all
- 54:40Speaker 4: we're looking for, you know. And and but I do
- 54:43Speaker 4: think it will make a difference in what we see.
- 54:45Speaker 4: I do think you'll see how you know, he'll make
- 54:50Speaker 4: a positive difference in the offense, not to the point
- 54:54Speaker 4: where now all of a sudden they're going to start
- 54:56Speaker 4: running off wins.
- 54:57Speaker 5: You hope. No, But that's why that's the idea.
- 55:01Speaker 4: That's my expectation.
- 55:02Speaker 5: Okay, but that's like the idea is to get him
- 55:05Speaker 5: out there so he can transition from raw rookie to
- 55:09Speaker 5: a guy who's helping the offense. Right, if you wait
- 55:11Speaker 5: till next year, I think that's a lost opportunity.
- 55:13Speaker 3: And then it's just the two silver linings.
- 55:15Speaker 9: I'd say, like even in a loss like that, you'd say, well,
- 55:18Speaker 9: he got a bunch of experience today, and with the
- 55:20Speaker 9: way that I've seen him play, he's going to try
- 55:22Speaker 9: a couple crazy throws during the game. So maybe he
- 55:25Speaker 9: hits one or two and you come out of that
- 55:26Speaker 9: game and you're like, yeah, we lost, but he got experience,
- 55:29Speaker 9: And man, did you see that one throw?
- 55:31Speaker 3: Like you know, those are the kind of thing experience.
- 55:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I just look at you know, the
- 55:36Speaker 5: other rookies and you know, and I focused mostly on
- 55:40Speaker 5: the on Williams and Daniels, not because Nix hasn't been
- 55:44Speaker 5: as good but I don't think Nix is in their category.
- 55:47Speaker 5: That's why I separate Nicks. But you just see some development,
- 55:52Speaker 5: you see plays. It's not perfect, And I know it
- 55:55Speaker 5: looks perfect with Daniels because it's like the eighty whatever
- 55:58Speaker 5: percentage completely, But like there's growing pains for him too,
- 56:02Speaker 5: But it's you, weren't you. You have a chance to
- 56:06Speaker 5: work through them, and you have a chance to improve.
- 56:08Speaker 5: I just think the idea of just improving by watching
- 56:12Speaker 5: is yeah, very limited.
- 56:14Speaker 4: With Daniels. I guarantee the rest of the season is
- 56:17Speaker 4: not gonna go like it is right now. Like Evan said,
- 56:20Speaker 4: things are gonna be on tape. Teams are going to
- 56:22Speaker 4: adjust to him. They're not gonna they're they're gonna start
- 56:25Speaker 4: respecting them, which means they're gonna, you know, start getting
- 56:28Speaker 4: after him and and and treating him a little bit differently.
- 56:32Speaker 4: So his his season will be up and down too.
- 56:34Speaker 4: But like Paul said, he's getting experience, he's he's learning
- 56:39Speaker 4: things and and when bad things happen, he's gonna learn
- 56:42Speaker 4: from that too. Right now, Drake May has none of that,
- 56:46Speaker 4: you know, opportunity.
- 56:47Speaker 9: Yeah, you're starting the clock on the Drake mate, you know,
- 56:51Speaker 9: or for whatever it will be. But that's I think
- 56:53Speaker 9: everybody is just like itching to get go, because let's go.
- 56:56Speaker 9: We've watched this for five years and the tractor everything
- 56:59Speaker 9: is hard for them, and then everything has been hard
- 57:01Speaker 9: for them with this offense for you know, except for
- 57:04Speaker 9: a couple random little moments, it's been tough.
- 57:07Speaker 5: It's been tough. Yeah.
- 57:08Speaker 10: Also, you have post Thanksgiving cliff to worry about. If
- 57:11Speaker 10: you're Jayden Daniels, Cliff Kingsbury literally falls off a cliff
- 57:16Speaker 10: every single year in the second half of the season
- 57:18Speaker 10: because teams start to catch up to all the crazy
- 57:21Speaker 10: crappy drew up in the summer and then everybody catches
- 57:25Speaker 10: up to it around Thanksgiving.
- 57:26Speaker 6: But you know, I just worry a lot too.
- 57:29Speaker 10: And I think you mentioned Godshaw's comments maybe earlier, like
- 57:34Speaker 10: being in that locker room after the game. There's a
- 57:37Speaker 10: lot of frustrated people in that locker room, and that's
- 57:40Speaker 10: sort of what I was expecting was going to happen,
- 57:44Speaker 10: was at some point you start to risk losing guys
- 57:47Speaker 10: in the locker room because you're not not just because
- 57:51Speaker 10: of the losing literally, but also just because like Pop
- 57:55Speaker 10: Douglas and Jalen Polk and like, these guys are starting
- 57:57Speaker 10: to get frustrated.
- 58:00Speaker 5: Ahead no, no, go ahead that I just did you
- 58:03Speaker 5: get a sense that there was Like with Tomorrio Douglas,
- 58:05Speaker 5: I had a couple of people say he quit at
- 58:07Speaker 5: the end of the game. He walked off the field
- 58:09Speaker 5: before the last like the last couple of snaps. It
- 58:11Speaker 5: was like two or three snaps left and he took
- 58:13Speaker 5: himself out, Like, I mean, I can't see that on TV.
- 58:17Speaker 9: I didn't see it, but I was just about to
- 58:18Speaker 9: ask Evan if because I feel like, especially with Douglas,
- 58:22Speaker 9: I noticed it on that one third down I mentioned
- 58:24Speaker 9: where but you notice these guys are open and then
- 58:27Speaker 9: they look back and the ball didn't go to them,
- 58:28Speaker 9: and you see that like frustrated pull up, like the
- 58:31Speaker 9: frustrated slow down and kind of gathering yourself.
- 58:34Speaker 5: I just I don't know if you were there, if
- 58:36Speaker 5: you if you notice that.
- 58:37Speaker 9: But I in my head, I'm watching these guys and
- 58:39Speaker 9: I'm thinking they're all thinking when May comes, he's gonna.
- 58:43Speaker 5: He's gonna he's gonna hit me.
- 58:44Speaker 9: Like I just think they're getting frstrated because they're getting open,
- 58:46Speaker 9: they're running rountes, they're seeing open field in front of them.
- 58:49Speaker 9: They look back and you know, Jacoby's either on the ground,
- 58:51Speaker 9: which you know might not be Jacoby's fault necessarily, or
- 58:54Speaker 9: he's thrown in the dirt to somebody somewhere else that
- 58:56Speaker 9: was more cover.
- 58:57Speaker 10: Yeah, I just feel like you're getting to the point,
- 58:59Speaker 10: you know, Pop Douglas and just see it on the
- 59:00Speaker 10: ALL twenty two, just after some of these plays, he's
- 59:04Speaker 10: just like losing his mind at this point, like he's like,
- 59:07Speaker 10: I'm right here, guy, Like you know, what what do
- 59:09Speaker 10: we what do we doing? You know, he ran a
- 59:11Speaker 10: cross or over the middle of the field, and afterwards
- 59:14Speaker 10: you can see the straps come off the helmet and
- 59:16Speaker 10: him just like run, you know, walk off the field,
- 59:19Speaker 10: pissed off. And you know it's not just all about him.
- 59:22Speaker 10: You know, you're not playing Drake just to get Pop
- 59:24Speaker 10: Douglas the ball. But in general, you look at this
- 59:27Speaker 10: and the defense is going up against Drake every day
- 59:30Speaker 10: in practice with him on the scout team, and they're
- 59:33Speaker 10: telling us, you know, they're telling the beat that he's
- 59:37Speaker 10: making these throws that are just crazy in practice. You know,
- 59:40Speaker 10: Mike Pelgreno is going back and watching the throw on
- 59:43Speaker 10: the ALL twenty two on the practice footage, just to
- 59:45Speaker 10: like be like, holy crap, what a throw? And at
- 59:48Speaker 10: what point does a defense start to say, like what
- 59:50Speaker 10: we got to Ferrari in the garage and we're going
- 59:52Speaker 10: out there with this, like what why? Because you know
- 59:54Speaker 10: we have to protect him, Like what about me?
- 59:57Speaker 12: You know?
- 59:57Speaker 5: What about us?
- 59:58Speaker 4: Right? Just some other guys on this?
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's a pink song.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: Actually what about that line? What's up Boddy.
- 1:00:08Speaker 18: Handy?
- 1:00:09Speaker 7: But they should taking my call a few points if
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: he allowed me to hit on Firstly, I think any
- 1:00:14Speaker 7: criticism outside of the offensive line is a little bits
- 1:00:17Speaker 7: guided at this time. I mean, we have worse than
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: the league. I don't blame Jacoby Precept for looking as
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: bad because I think they're speeding up his clock. I mean,
- 1:00:25Speaker 7: he doesn't have time to make the right read and
- 1:00:27Speaker 7: now he's getting into his own head because he doesn't
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: have the time anymore. So if it's understated how bad
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: this line is at this point to me, and Drake
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: May is not going to fix that. I mean personally,
- 1:00:38Speaker 7: I think that he should sit for the year, and
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: I understand the comments and ideas about starting him to
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: get an experience, but it's going to be the same thing.
- 1:00:46Speaker 7: And do we want our quarterback to practice being a
- 1:00:49Speaker 7: play extender, a you know, any emergency, get it out,
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: run out, going to be a quarterback first things, and
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: then I want him to practice everything else. I mean,
- 1:01:02Speaker 7: we have a whole year and off season to practice.
- 1:01:05Speaker 7: During practice, the game should be for execution. That's my
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: personal point. And then lastly, I'm so happy to hear
- 1:01:15Speaker 7: Mayo touch on what he said about his plan and
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: sticking to it.
- 1:01:20Speaker 15: I mean, that's music to my ears because I don't
- 1:01:23Speaker 15: know what he said.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: He said he has a plan, but you know, like
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: I don't know, Like I didn't hear the part.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: I don't know, Yeah, what did what did he say?
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: So? He said in Belichick touched on it yesterday too
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: that Mayo said after the game, you know, we have
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: a plan. And then Belichick said, you know, Mayo says
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: he's got a plan. I'm not sure what it is.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: But if he says it, he says he has a plan,
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: I guess he does. I mean, isn't the plan is obvious?
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: They want to sit trake me.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: They want to be patient, and they want to be patient.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: That's the plan.
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: What's so confusing about.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: Well, but is the plan it can be using because
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: is the plan for set amount of games and they're
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: going to stick to that no matter what, or was
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: the plan simply open ended enough to say when he's ready,
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: he'll play and and so now it could be any week.
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: Well that's why I sort of said, like, what, like
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: why I don't know what the plant? How could it
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: be music to you is when you don't know what
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: it is.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: We don't know what the plan is.
- 1:02:20Speaker 10: I think he just wants them to be patient because
- 1:02:22Speaker 10: the offensive line, which I understand and no one, I mean,
- 1:02:25Speaker 10: we've talked about the offensive line being bad plenty. I
- 1:02:28Speaker 10: think at this point, just for me, I just feel
- 1:02:31Speaker 10: I'm kind of tired of blaming everything on the offensive
- 1:02:34Speaker 10: line every single week.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: It's not a reason to play or not play a quarterback. Yeah,
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: that's all I'll say.
- 1:02:38Speaker 10: Yeah, I just I'm getting to the point I was
- 1:02:41Speaker 10: here already last week, and I just reinforces it on
- 1:02:44Speaker 10: Sunday where I start to worry about the entire thing
- 1:02:48Speaker 10: with the way that things are going on now from
- 1:02:52Speaker 10: player evaluation, like how I don't know what Jalen Polk
- 1:02:55Speaker 10: can do because he doesn't get the ball right, So like.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: I that's what I meant, That's what great point.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: What's going on now is stifling the progress of not
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: just drake me right.
- 1:03:04Speaker 10: Like can Jalen Polk? I think he's a really good
- 1:03:07Speaker 10: at the catch point. He made a play on a
- 1:03:09Speaker 10: back shoulder ball the other day. Can he create after
- 1:03:12Speaker 10: the catch? Can he can he separate?
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: Like don't?
- 1:03:16Speaker 10: I don't know because he's not getting the ball, and
- 1:03:19Speaker 10: I don't know if this line is truly this bad
- 1:03:22Speaker 10: or if the quarterback is making it worse. So like
- 1:03:26Speaker 10: you know, Leyden Robinson's having a tough time in pass
- 1:03:28Speaker 10: protection right now. Gave up seven quarterback pressures in the
- 1:03:31Speaker 10: game the other day. That's not very very high number.
- 1:03:35Speaker 10: Is that because he's stinks or is it because the
- 1:03:39Speaker 10: quarterback's holding the ball forever?
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: Like I just don't know the answer to that.
- 1:03:42Speaker 10: So if I'm Elliott Wolf, it's like I go into
- 1:03:44Speaker 10: the off season, I have no answers. I don't know
- 1:03:47Speaker 10: what this roster is offensively. I don't know what anybody
- 1:03:49Speaker 10: else is offensively. And this is how coaches get fired,
- 1:03:54Speaker 10: Like this is how regimes end quickly, So just real quick, just.
- 1:03:59Speaker 9: Adding the agitation of the players that we talked about
- 1:04:01Speaker 9: as well, And that to me.
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: Is the is the is the bigger picture thing. And
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: this is probably not something that's necessarily it's not necessarily
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: an issue right this second, but this is the kind
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: of stuff and you're going to watch for. And you know,
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: I thought Gotchaw was on Wei here locally yesterday and
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: he talked about the need for the defense. He talks
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: specifically about the defense. There was no pointing fingers at
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: the offense. Okay, so it wasn't that's when it gets
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: train wreck level, right, Okay, he's just talking about just
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: speaking for the defense. We need to do a better
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: job of being on the same page and doing our
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: jobs and not worried about running around trying to make plays. Okay,
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: so you can definitely wonder about specifically, but that's to
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: me that those are cracks. And when I see the
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: body language of the Mario Douglas to me, for four
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: weeks now, I've really kind of been tired of the
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: body language there. I think to your point point one
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: of you two, Mike or Fred made the point about
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: Jalen Polk, you can't get to really see what he
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: is and does he see to Mario Douglas and said, well,
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: that's what you know. I need to be like that.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: I need to be because I don't think that's setting
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: a good example. And I think it's fine when you're
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: open and it's a third down and you turn and
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: either the ball went somewhere else and you're you know, oh,
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: we had a chance to make a play, as opposed
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: to well I'm pissy because well I'm doing my job
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: and they can't get me the ball, you know. And
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: there's a fine line there.
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: And I don't think Douglas would have that body language
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: if other people were making catches. I like, no, no,
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: ball's being caught. No, it's not even getting out.
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: But there's a million examples every Sunday when you watch
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: of a guy streaks down the post and he's open
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: and they throw somewhere else on a third down and
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: it's incomplete, and he's just like frustrated. That doesn't look
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: like that, Yep, Like I don't there's been bad, bad
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: body language with some of those players. I don't necessar
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: really blame them. It's a frustrating. That's a frustrating four
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: games for everybody involved.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Michaelson for Mott, what's up, Michael, Michael, Michael Michael, you.
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: Know while you're you know, sort of queuing up the
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: next call, Like, is there a frustration level with say,
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: you know? And I'm not saying there is, but would
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: it be outrageous that Antonio Gibson's a little bit miffed?
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: He seems to be pretty productive with the touches he gets,
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: and yet the guy that plays over him fumbled in
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: every game and doesn't seem to lose anything. Now, my
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: guess is that's going to change at some point, right Girod,
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: you know, has basically been pretty reactionary to what's going on.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: I'd be stunned if he hasn't heard all the people
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: like us saying, well jeez, at one point, you like,
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: do you take some playing time away from Romandri Stevenson.
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: I mean, he's productive and all, but if he's fumbling,
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: it's it's counterproductive. So I wonder if a guy like
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: Antonio Gibson sits there and says, well, geez, I get
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: you know a quarter of the touches, and I have
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: similar production, you know, including I mean, I know it
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: was garbage time, but including a fifty yard catch and
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: run the other day. Yeah, I had the two guys
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: that I highlighted and after further review that I think
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: need to play more on offense where Antonio Gibson not
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: just play more, but just get the ball more, more
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: touches because there's only so many guys on this offense
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: that can create explosives and he's one of them. You know,
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: he gets lost a little bit in the concept on
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: the fifty yard or and then you know he takes
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: it fifty yards Like, there's not very many many guys
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: on this offense that are going to do that, and
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: I know I have to. You know, I pick on
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: him a lot, So I'm gonna be careful here. But
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: kJ Osborne, Like, let's give some snap.
- 1:07:43Speaker 10: To some other people that aren't kJ Osborne and Taekwon
- 1:07:46Speaker 10: Thornton at receiver. You know, I really do feel like
- 1:07:49Speaker 10: Kendrick Bourne is going to make a big difference.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: I'm not saying he started practicing this week and he's
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: going to.
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:07:55Speaker 10: Like so him being out of that ready, Yeah, him
- 1:07:59Speaker 10: being out there. You know, they couple plays early on
- 1:08:02Speaker 10: They're looking for Kjosborne to separate against man coverage and
- 1:08:06Speaker 10: you just can't get open. Yeah, So Kendrick burn being
- 1:08:09Speaker 10: in that spot is an upgrade. I thought Kishan Boudi
- 1:08:12Speaker 10: ran some decent routes that would make him an upgrade
- 1:08:15Speaker 10: potentially too.
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: So uh, there are those two things.
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: I thought.
- 1:08:18Speaker 6: The you know, more reps for some other guys there
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: would have helped.
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: All right, we're gonna take a break when we come back.

- 1:09:39Speaker 8: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, oh no,
- 1:09:44Speaker 8: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:09:48Speaker 8: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:09:52Speaker 8: now meet's next for residential delivery.
- 1:09:54Speaker 20: Only went back to watch it, and I'm curious what
- 1:11:19Speaker 20: the coaching point is. I mean, it looks like he's
- 1:11:21Speaker 20: got the two hands around the ball. What is the
- 1:11:25Speaker 20: coaching point? Obviously that looked like the guard maybe missed
- 1:11:29Speaker 20: the block. Tell me what's about yourself?
- 1:11:32Speaker 15: That's right?
- 1:11:33Speaker 21: And some you know, look we missed the block on
- 1:11:35Speaker 21: that defender was able to get his hand in there
- 1:11:37Speaker 21: and rip the ball out. If you look at even
- 1:11:40Speaker 21: just the past, well just really all season he has
- 1:11:43Speaker 21: a target on his back as far as a guy
- 1:11:45Speaker 21: that doesn't have good ball security, and he knows he
- 1:11:49Speaker 21: has to improve that. And it's not just for him,
- 1:11:52Speaker 21: it's for anyone that that touches the football. We always
- 1:11:54Speaker 21: talk about ball security equaling job security, and we're trying
- 1:11:58Speaker 21: to continue to develop that.
- 1:12:02Speaker 7: Next question, Mike, Jerry, I just.
- 1:12:08Speaker 22: Wanted some clarification on what you just told the guys
- 1:12:10Speaker 22: in the radio. Uh, you said the plan. You were
- 1:12:14Speaker 22: asked about the plan for Drake and if it was
- 1:12:15Speaker 22: going to be revealed.
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: You said the plan.
- 1:12:18Speaker 22: We can't put the plan in place, essentially until we're competitive.
- 1:12:22Speaker 23: Is that.
- 1:12:24Speaker 21: I didn't I don't think I said you can't put
- 1:12:27Speaker 21: the plan in Plus, they wanted to know about the plan.
- 1:12:30Speaker 21: They wanted to know what the plan was, and so
- 1:12:32Speaker 21: it came up, Well, Drake was uh in there, could
- 1:12:36Speaker 21: you reveal the plan? And that's what I was saying.
- 1:12:38Speaker 21: I was like, no, it's this no one else's business.
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: Very good, Thanks you clarified. I just had to clarify
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: for you.
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: Nope, that's good.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks, I'm kind.
- 1:12:47Speaker 24: Followed by Chris Ryan.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: Good morning, Rod.
- 1:12:52Speaker 22: There's some experienced offensive tackles available right now in free agency,
- 1:12:58Speaker 22: has there been any thought to adding any of those guys?
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: And if not, then why not?
- 1:13:03Speaker 21: Ellie and I have those conversations all the time. We
- 1:13:06Speaker 21: actually we're going to meet today. We are always trying
- 1:13:09Speaker 21: to find ways to improve our roster and so that's
- 1:13:13Speaker 21: always under consideration.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: Thank you, Thanks.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: Chris R.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: Want to drive.
- 1:13:24Speaker 16: From your standpoint right now, is there more concerned about
- 1:13:27Speaker 16: what you're seeing on the defensive side of the ball
- 1:13:29Speaker 16: or the offensive side of the ball. Where you kind
- 1:13:31Speaker 16: of felt like the defense was going to be an
- 1:13:34Speaker 16: integral part to winning this year and some of the
- 1:13:37Speaker 16: areas that you highlighted as being strengths, it seems like
- 1:13:41Speaker 16: you haven't kind of hit the mark tackling and getting
- 1:13:44Speaker 16: the ballicking turnovers.
- 1:13:45Speaker 21: Yeah, you know early in the season. You know, I
- 1:13:48Speaker 21: would say, just look at it from a quarterly review. Defensively,
- 1:13:51Speaker 21: we just haven't tackled well. We haven't kept a quarterback
- 1:13:54Speaker 21: in the pocket. There have been times where we've covered
- 1:13:56Speaker 21: well and also times that you know, it seems like
- 1:13:59Speaker 21: received our wide open. That's something that you know, we
- 1:14:03Speaker 21: just have to get better at. And really, you know,
- 1:14:06Speaker 21: Special Tims had a great game yesterday offensively and defensively,
- 1:14:09Speaker 21: we did not. And for this team to win games,
- 1:14:12Speaker 21: we have to be able to play well in all
- 1:14:13Speaker 21: three phases. And really, and I know you guys get
- 1:14:17Speaker 21: tired of me saying this, fundamental fundamentals. Fundamentals still continue
- 1:14:21Speaker 21: to be an issue, and I'll continue to harp on it.
- 1:14:26Speaker 24: Followed our ti timents, Idrada wanted to ask about Jacoby
- 1:14:34Speaker 24: in his play yesterday.
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: It looks like by some of the people.
- 1:14:37Speaker 24: Who tracked how long you know it takes for the
- 1:14:40Speaker 24: quarterback to actually release the football, it was actually a
- 1:14:43Speaker 24: relatively quick day on average for Jacoby in terms of
- 1:14:47Speaker 24: how fast he was getting rid of it. But I
- 1:14:49Speaker 24: wanted to ask you what are you seeing from him
- 1:14:51Speaker 24: in that regard? Is he getting rid of it as
- 1:14:52Speaker 24: quickly as he needs to in your opinion after watching
- 1:14:55Speaker 24: the film from yesterday.
- 1:14:56Speaker 21: I mean, when you play a good defensive front, a
- 1:14:58Speaker 21: good defensive you know, defensive end, we definitely have to
- 1:15:02Speaker 21: get the ball out quick and that was part of
- 1:15:05Speaker 21: the game plan. And I'll tell you, guys, the game
- 1:15:07Speaker 21: plan is to run the ball and get the ball
- 1:15:09Speaker 21: out into the receiver's hands so they can make yards
- 1:15:11Speaker 21: after the catch.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: So I think.
- 1:15:14Speaker 21: I think when you talk to Jacobe, he will always
- 1:15:16Speaker 21: say that there's, uh, you know, a room for improvement,
- 1:15:19Speaker 21: and I feel the same way.
- 1:15:25Speaker 25: College coach, thank you so much for your time when
- 1:15:30Speaker 25: it comes to like line games. It feels like that's
- 1:15:32Speaker 25: been a pretty big issue for the offensive line. But
- 1:15:34Speaker 25: as a coach, when you're evaluating, what would you say
- 1:15:36Speaker 25: is the biggest reason for that? Because obviously there's been
- 1:15:39Speaker 25: so many different combinations and it's hard to see everything
- 1:15:42Speaker 25: through one set of eyes. So how do you evaluate that?
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: As a head coach?
- 1:15:45Speaker 21: You just answered it you should have put my hat,
- 1:15:47Speaker 21: put my hat on, but that but that's what it is. It's,
- 1:15:49Speaker 21: you know, it's those guys being able to you know,
- 1:15:53Speaker 21: having a consistent unit across the board and really seeing
- 1:15:56Speaker 21: the same thing happening through the same set of God
- 1:15:59Speaker 21: was I always talk about that and we just got
- 1:16:01Speaker 21: to continue to get better at it.
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: Thank you, Greg.
- 1:16:09Speaker 20: Just following up one thing on the radio, Kendrick Bourne,
- 1:16:12Speaker 20: start practicing wednesday? Is that the plan?
- 1:16:14Speaker 15: That's the plan?
- 1:16:15Speaker 20: And Taki taki mapu, would they be ready to start wednesday?
- 1:16:20Speaker 20: Is that the plan for them?
- 1:16:22Speaker 23: We're going to have that conversation here today, so we'll see.
- 1:16:28Speaker 23: Thanks Mam Sophie Will Mornings.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: I just want to h kind of take from what
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: you said on the radio and apply it here. Jacoby
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: is still your starter. Uh, but you have the right
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: to change change your mind at any point. Is that
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: kind of a message.
- 1:16:53Speaker 21: Yeah, And I'm not I'm not trying to send mixed messages.
- 1:16:56Speaker 21: And when I said you know the right to change
- 1:16:58Speaker 21: my mind, I'm actually I'm talking about the entire herd
- 1:17:00Speaker 21: A team. I said, you know, because the thing about it,
- 1:17:02Speaker 21: I always reserve the right to make a change at
- 1:17:04Speaker 21: any given time. And so yeah, I don't want I
- 1:17:07Speaker 21: don't want the fans or anyone to think, what is
- 1:17:10Speaker 21: he talking about. Jacoby's one hundred percent our starter. He's
- 1:17:13Speaker 21: one hundred percent our starter. And that's how we're gonna
- 1:17:15Speaker 21: look into this going for okay.
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: And now great moments in.
- 1:17:23Speaker 15: History.
- 1:17:24Speaker 9: I just feel like you got to break them into
- 1:17:25Speaker 9: a little ball busting when they're kids, right, Like you
- 1:17:27Speaker 9: got to understand that, like you're.
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: Gonna joke and I'm not like trying to hurt your feelings.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: You know, It's like we're kind.
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: Of I would kind of tell your coach I've got
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: my eye on him. I'm watching him. It's like I'm
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: not going to or And then I would say, yeah,
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: your coach asked me to come and you know, give
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: a cradling clinic to the guys.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: You know, that's cradling clinic. Fred Connor was probably in
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: the back.
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: Was really in the old house. I used to use
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: the shower downstairs, and that's where like he would watch
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: TV with his friend and so I come out with
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: a towel and like, you know, oh god, his friends
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: would I go, uh, hey, Sean, did you get those
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: tickets to the gun show? And you know, my son's
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: just shaking his head because he knows it's coming. And
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: the other kid just, you know, walk on.
- 1:18:19Speaker 9: It's a masterclass, a master class of dadding.
- 1:18:22Speaker 5: Right, I just walk out. I gotta I gotta start
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: a little bit. That's another great moment from.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: All right back here in Patriots Unfiltered. A five five
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: pats five hundred is the tp X hotline, web radio
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: and dot com is the email it you like, towl,
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: you just have a towel on the towel just to
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: come walking out of the of the shower, just to
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: the house. His friends are you know, all sitting in
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: the couch watching TV and they come trapesing by Sean
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: you get those tickets and like he's looking at me,
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: like what mister to the gun show And like the
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: other guys they laugh because they have to laugh because
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: it's it's Connor's dad. But Connor's the only one just
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: like shaking his You gotta do. It's your responsibility. I
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: have to.
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: Just my thought of Connor being mortified is what I'm there.
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: I can I can totally experience the whole scene. Friends.
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: Well, when when he would play Xbox and you know,
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: you have your little set on and he's talking to
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: his friends. I would walk into the the room where
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: he's playing and say, hey, Connor, Hannah Hannah Montana's on TV.
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: You know he's oh you know that mine.
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: I do the same thing Campbell on the Fight and
- 1:19:34Speaker 9: I always do, Hey Campbell, I got your diarrhea medicine
- 1:19:36Speaker 9: if you need it.
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: Because they're such.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: Dads, Oh yeah, oh it's so fun. They deserve but
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: they give us enough press.
- 1:19:45Speaker 10: Let him play Fortnite in Piece or whatever the heck
- 1:19:47Speaker 10: they play these days.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: If that one, they're like a different you mover.
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: I think they still play Fortnite. I mean not my kids,
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: but I mean younger kids. They still play. I think
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: that game. I don't know, that's not a so Matt's
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: a young kid.
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: Sure, Jeff and Cannon, Oh what.
- 1:20:05Speaker 12: Do you say?
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: Eminem's in Fortnite.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: Now MS character metaverse whatever?
- 1:20:13Speaker 26: Uh?
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: Jeff and Canada. I've decided to just laugh about it now.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: He says, we're not an NFL team. Sure, we pay
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: our membership fee and we're on schedule, but that's about it.
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: We're shown only locally in the one oh five window,
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: normally reserved for the likes of the Cardinals or Raiders.
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: We are the league's get right game. If you're our
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: next opponent and you see us on your schedule, you
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: invite all your family and friends to that game because
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: it's a good chance of victory. Even a terrible Miami
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: team thinks it. So thinks to itself, this is our
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: week to get right. I worry what this five year
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: run of futility will mean for our beloved PU team.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: They have not declined. They have continued to shine, trying
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: to put lipstick on a pig as they watch a
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: nine year journeyman quarterback. By every definition, Paul Andy or
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: Era have ever placed in the world try to fight
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: the river of tides coming at him through our cork
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: sniffing o line in hopes of completing an eight year
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: forward pass circa nineteen thirty three. God help us all.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: I don't I don't really try to put lipstick.
- 1:21:14Speaker 9: I'm just trying to make a little carnitis out of it,
- 1:21:16Speaker 9: you know, Like I'm not trying to make it look pretty.
- 1:21:18Speaker 9: I'm just trying to make it taste a little better
- 1:21:20Speaker 9: than it seems.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: But I don't know, we've been watching it so bad
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: for so long.
- 1:21:24Speaker 10: I mean it is watching I think the toughest part
- 1:21:27Speaker 10: as an offensive guy is just watching bad quarterback play.
- 1:21:31Speaker 10: Like I just I can live with rookie bad quarterback
- 1:21:34Speaker 10: play because at least we're building towards something. But just
- 1:21:37Speaker 10: why it's been years of for between Mac in the
- 1:21:41Speaker 10: last couple of years and now Bressett, Like it's at
- 1:21:43Speaker 10: the point where you don't even know how much you
- 1:21:47Speaker 10: should blame and how much like because it's just it
- 1:21:50Speaker 10: all just is such a mess, and and so much
- 1:21:52Speaker 10: of it is is just comes back to the quarterback,
- 1:21:55Speaker 10: and it's just it's just tough to keep banging that.
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: Richard says he's huge fan of the show and he
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: just wanted us to say that it's his birthday. All right,
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: Happy birthday, Richard, don't be a dick. All right, Let's
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: get back to the tp X hotline. Uh Ay five
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: five pats, five hundred. Rich We'll get to Patty and aga,
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: what's up Patty? Patty? He's gone. All right, we'll go
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: over to Florida. Dan's going back. What's up Dan?
- 1:22:29Speaker 18: Hey?
- 1:22:29Speaker 13: And you guys, Hey, bred I don't know if you guys, uh,
- 1:22:35Speaker 13: you guys heard that from from Tret Johnson about.
- 1:22:39Speaker 26: The how teams are trying to starting to mirror the
- 1:22:44Speaker 26: Seattle Seahawks style they did in Week two where they're
- 1:22:48Speaker 26: running a lot of spread and they're they're opening up
- 1:22:52Speaker 26: the back, the back of the middle bool field because
- 1:22:54Speaker 26: the Patriots just can't cover on defense and they just
- 1:22:57Speaker 26: don't have, like you guys said that the horses at
- 1:23:00Speaker 26: the great constant pressure. And I think a lot of
- 1:23:03Speaker 26: these teams now watching the Patriots and they're making our
- 1:23:07Speaker 26: making our defense one dimensional and we just don't have
- 1:23:10Speaker 26: the talent. And it's it's crazy because last year we
- 1:23:14Speaker 26: were we rode them the defense, even offense so terrible,
- 1:23:18Speaker 26: and now we can't even do we can't even write
- 1:23:21Speaker 26: on the defense.
- 1:23:22Speaker 13: I think it's just pretty pathetic.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: It's a little disappointing. I agree, Dan, thanks for the call.
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: I mean, we were hoping that the defense would keep games.
- 1:23:30Speaker 5: I'll make a prediction. Yeah, Sunday you'll be talking about
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: that again. Well, yeah, because that's when you talked about
- 1:23:36Speaker 5: it last year. That's when it happens last year.
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: Yeah. So do you understand what Paul's point is, fans,
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: because he was saying this last year that some of the.
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: When they faced Gardner Minshew and Tommy DeVito and Mitch
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: Trubisky and those guys are whoever who was the guy
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: that they faced in the Steelers game. Yes, yeah, like
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: you know, that's the defense was great. When was Josh Allen,
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: it wasn't so great.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: But they had some other games against starting quarterback that
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: at least they kept the game competitive.
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: I mean, the first job, the first Chargers game, the
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: first Justin Herbert, Yeah that was only six to nothing.
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: The first Buffalo game they beat Josh Allen.
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: No, no, but not because of the defense.
- 1:24:17Speaker 10: I mean, I thought the defense played okay in that game.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: But I mean, you want to shootout, it was like
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: twenty nine to twenty six, or that's twenty seven. Yeah,
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: it's the only game that Max Jones ever won when
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: the opponents scored more than twenty points.
- 1:24:30Speaker 10: Well maybe for the Patriots as a shootout, but I
- 1:24:32Speaker 10: wouldn't call that.
- 1:24:33Speaker 5: And I just watched the Lions and they got touchdowns
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: in the last five minutes of the game that the
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: defense and then Mac Jones went down the field scored. Yeah,
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: that's why you won.
- 1:24:41Speaker 9: Do you wonder though, if that's Bill, if that's I mean,
- 1:24:43Speaker 9: do you feel confident that this will be the same
- 1:24:45Speaker 9: defense that'll be able.
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: To senday that quarterback? Yeah, I'm pretty sure they can.
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: They can contain probably a special Tyler Huntleo Skyler Thompson,
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: whoever they happen to see.
- 1:24:53Speaker 9: But I do you think that's there's some signs that
- 1:24:55Speaker 9: they miss Bill a little bit on defense?
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: I think I think there are two. But I think
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: Dan's point, like, I think the teams have sort of
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: figured out you can throw on this team, and if
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: you do that, you're probably gonna be able to move
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: the ball, and the Dolphins won't be able to do that.
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: I think the Dolphins only and we'll get to this
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: more tomorrow. I would, you know, I guess, but I
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: think if Miami wants to win and wants to try
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: to score, they have two guys that are, you know,
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: gonna be the two best players on the field when
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: they're out there in Hill and Waddle. You got to
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: go over the top and see if you can hit
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: a player or two. You're not gonna do it consistently,
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: like it might be one of those Tyler Huntley goes
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: thirteen for twenty nine, you know, but maybe he hits
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: two fifty yarders and you're able to score enough points
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: to do it. He ain't doing it putting together twelve
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: fifteen play drives the way Aaron Rodgers did a couple
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: of weeks ago, and the way the Niners did was
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: that ninety yard drive was like fifteen plays ninety yards.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: Like Purdy can do that, Tyler Huntley can't.
- 1:25:53Speaker 10: I think the biggest thing to besides maybe the pass
- 1:25:57Speaker 10: rush discipline like that Bill would have been Kean White
- 1:26:00Speaker 10: and josh U j By now, like he wouldn't have
- 1:26:03Speaker 10: let what happened on Sunday happen repeatedly multiple weeks in
- 1:26:07Speaker 10: a row with the pass rush. But the biggest thing
- 1:26:10Speaker 10: to me that they missed with Bill on defense is
- 1:26:13Speaker 10: is Bill would have held his water a little bit
- 1:26:15Speaker 10: longer with the run game against the lighter personnel. Like
- 1:26:19Speaker 10: Bill would have said, you gained eight yards on this
- 1:26:23Speaker 10: run play, gaining eight yards again, and gain it again
- 1:26:27Speaker 10: and again, and by the second half if you're if
- 1:26:31Speaker 10: you're averaging six yards of carry, like now, maybe we'll
- 1:26:34Speaker 10: adjust at halftime to what you're doing. But he wouldn't
- 1:26:37Speaker 10: have said on that opening drive we couldn't stop the
- 1:26:40Speaker 10: run on Nickel, so drive two, we're just gonna immediately
- 1:26:43Speaker 10: go into base defense. He would have held his water
- 1:26:47Speaker 10: a little bit longer and trusted it. So that's my
- 1:26:50Speaker 10: pushback on like you know that you can throw on
- 1:26:53Speaker 10: this defense. They threw on the defense against their their
- 1:26:57Speaker 10: heavy personnel. If they had stayed in Nickel, I don't
- 1:27:00Speaker 10: know if those opportunities would have been there to throw
- 1:27:03Speaker 10: the ball as much as they were.
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: Dance in New Jersey. What's up, Dan?
- 1:27:09Speaker 12: Hey, gentlemen, it occurs to me I think you have
- 1:27:13Speaker 12: far too many callers named Dan. But in any case,
- 1:27:18Speaker 12: call me crazy, all right, Fred, call me crazy. Call
- 1:27:22Speaker 12: me coming nuts.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: Just don't call me Dan.
- 1:27:25Speaker 12: Is this an opportunity for the much maligned pole Strange
- 1:27:28Speaker 12: to be actually the key to sort of stabilizing the
- 1:27:32Speaker 12: interior of the line or what?
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: I don't think so, not anytime soon.
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: He's not healthy.
- 1:27:38Speaker 12: No he's not.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: Okay, No he's not.
- 1:27:43Speaker 12: How about Andrews. Do we have any word, either officially
- 1:27:45Speaker 12: or unofficially.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: No, I don't think from the indications I have, it's
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: going to be at least a couple of weeks.
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: Oh you do have, so Andrews. Okay, Yeah, No, we
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: haven't heard anything. I haven't heard anything.
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: It's another one of those things that you know, you
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: don't share with us off air. That's just that I'm getting. Yeah,
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: I think Cole Strange we've seen him in the locker
- 1:28:06Speaker 5: room a little bit, but I do not get the
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: impression that he is close. When Gerrodmeo was asked about
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: some of those guys, he did say specifically that Bourne
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: would practice on Wednesday, so that's tomorrow we'll see, you know.
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: I assume he'll be out there. He was less committal
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: about Mapu and Taki Taki, who were you know? Some
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: other guys. Strange really hasn't even been in the mix.
- 1:28:29Speaker 10: Strange is yeah out, definitely still I would say, thanks Dan.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: I think the.
- 1:28:35Speaker 9: Only thing I'm really thinking about was Strange, honest to god,
- 1:28:37Speaker 9: is could he maybe be a backup center next year
- 1:28:40Speaker 9: or you know, work at that position and see if
- 1:28:42Speaker 9: he could provide some depth behind Andrews Is I think
- 1:28:44Speaker 9: that's a long term.
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: I mean, if he could play one of the guard spots,
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: I'm fine with that. But the problem is tackled, like
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: you know, whether it's City Show or Leyden Robinson at guard.
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: I think they're going to struggle, They're going to make
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: some plays, They're going to get better. They're young guys.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: They should get better, and I would. I know evn't
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: had The stats on Robinson were ugly this week that
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: that that group hasn't been good. There's nobody upfront that
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: has played well on any kind of a consistent basis.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: I actually thought Michael Jordan was one of the better
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: ones the first few games and then he gets hurt. Yeah,
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: it's not It's not an ideal situation. If Cole Strange
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: can come back and physically step into one of those
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: gud spots and he's better than so in in Robinson. Sure,
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: I just don't think it's going to solve your problem.
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: It's the numbers issue right now with Like I mean,
- 1:29:32Speaker 9: we don't know what's going on with Wallace.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: He got carted off.
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: Was that part of the injury you already had?
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: Is this something new?
- 1:29:37Speaker 9: I would expect Wallas to be so again, like you're
- 1:29:41Speaker 9: now what Caleb Jones I think is the next guy,
- 1:29:44Speaker 9: the next practice squad guy ups where you know, now
- 1:29:46Speaker 9: we're going into the practice squad for for tackles who
- 1:29:48Speaker 9: are are going to probably.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: Well, if you get Venerian lowback then be huge.
- 1:29:52Speaker 10: Yeah, but he's had a knee brace on and limping
- 1:29:54Speaker 10: around too. Like that's why I said at the beginning
- 1:29:56Speaker 10: of the show that they need to call one of
- 1:29:58Speaker 10: these veteran tackles, not just upgrade the position. They just
- 1:30:01Speaker 10: don't have bodies like Caden Wallace. We saw him in
- 1:30:04Speaker 10: the locker room with a boot and crutches after the
- 1:30:07Speaker 10: game on his foot, you know, he and it didn't
- 1:30:10Speaker 10: look like it was like, oh, out of precaution, we're
- 1:30:12Speaker 10: going to put this on.
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: It looked like he was struggling.
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: My questions off the field, my question for that would
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: be what Mike just brought up. Is it this the
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: same injury that was exacerbated or is this something different.
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: If it's something different, there's nothing you can do.
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: So it sounded like it the original original injury was
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: a knee.
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: This was his. He had a walking boot on it.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: They definitely announced ankles.
- 1:30:31Speaker 6: Yeah, so I would say different now.
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: So if it's different, then that no further questions, Like
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: football players play, Like if it was something that he
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: was that he already had going into the game and
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: now it's worse, I would question, especially as the extra
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: alignment you had to do that, like he played like
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: two snaps, three snaps? How many he couldn't have played
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: too many? Like that? Was that important that you put
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: someone who was physically already compromised in there? Like that
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: would be to me worth second guessing.
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: Ericson Connecticut, Hey, Eric, Hey.
- 1:31:05Speaker 15: What's up. Guys, Thanks for taking my call here. So basically,
- 1:31:11Speaker 15: you guys were saying before the break out, we need
- 1:31:13Speaker 15: to see Drake, or we should see Drake's sooner rather
- 1:31:16Speaker 15: than later to see if we've actually got something in
- 1:31:19Speaker 15: Jalen Polk and some of these other rookies. But basically
- 1:31:23Speaker 15: it feels like I'm getting conflicting information. But like, for example,
- 1:31:26Speaker 15: Phil Perry made a report that Bristte has the second
- 1:31:29Speaker 15: most time to pass in the league up to this point,
- 1:31:33Speaker 15: which I thought was interesting because when I watch on Sunday,
- 1:31:37Speaker 15: you know, I see that the O line isn't great,
- 1:31:39Speaker 15: but somehow Jacoby has time to pass and our receivers
- 1:31:44Speaker 15: are open at least that's what you know, well what
- 1:31:47Speaker 15: we can see like after the facts when they show
- 1:31:49Speaker 15: after the play, is it that for set doesn't see them?
- 1:31:53Speaker 15: And like the stats so so like for example, Jalen
- 1:31:58Speaker 15: Polk got targeted set and times but caughtless than half
- 1:32:01Speaker 15: of them. I feel like he's getting his looks. But
- 1:32:04Speaker 15: you know, like I guess my question here is like
- 1:32:07Speaker 15: who's who's really a fault?
- 1:32:08Speaker 5: You know, like like why everybody? That's my answer, But
- 1:32:14Speaker 5: like I just would be curious about Phil's report. Was
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: he talking about Sunday or like for the for the
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: season for September He's I can't imagine Jacoby Brissett's had
- 1:32:24Speaker 5: the second most time to throw.
- 1:32:27Speaker 10: Well, yeah, but it's not time to throw meaning like pressure,
- 1:32:31Speaker 10: like how long in the pocket? Is he not under pressure?
- 1:32:34Speaker 10: He's talking literally time to throw, Like how how long
- 1:32:38Speaker 10: is it from snap to the time that he actually
- 1:32:40Speaker 10: throws the ball?
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: What's the difference?
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: Well, if he's scrambling around, right, so like you get
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: pressured out of the pocket immediately.
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: But that's what I mean, like if you're running around,
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: it's not a fair comparison, but it's like it should
- 1:32:54Speaker 4: be time to throw before pressure.
- 1:32:55Speaker 10: Yeah, I agree, that's but what I'm right, What I'm
- 1:32:58Speaker 10: saying to you is that the data that Phil was
- 1:33:01Speaker 10: talking about is not that so we have other data.
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: Was he making that point? Is the question?
- 1:33:06Speaker 10: Well, it's just a lot of people look at time
- 1:33:08Speaker 10: to throw numbers to how quick are you making decisions?
- 1:33:11Speaker 6: How fast we getting the ball out?
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: I would say like on Sunday.
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: Especially in the first half, he had time to throw.
- 1:33:19Speaker 5: I agree, And I think he was slide. I think
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: some of the sacks that he took on sid I
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: don't know if you want to put half of them
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: were on Presett. Yeah, I had on Sunday. And you know,
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: we go back to you know, you've got to be
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: careful now, you know you're one in three, you know
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: you're facing some adversity. You know you're starting to hear
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: a lot of negativity from outside, and you've got to
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: stay together. You know, we talked about the defense talking
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: about just doing their job, jord Mayo saying, you know,
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: we gotta we got to get some schemes that get
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: the ball out quicker. And then like that's I don't
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: think that's great. Like if you're talking about that within
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: your walls, great, but like that to me can be
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: perceived as a shot at Alex van pa and Jacoby Brissett. Yeah,
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: I think he specifically said some of those were on perset,
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: you know, the sex and I think you can say
- 1:34:07Speaker 5: that the offensive line was better than you thought without
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: putting it on Persett.
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: So let me let me ask you a question. If
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: Mayo were to make the change, make the decision. Okay,
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: this is the week we're going to start, Drake may
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: what day of the week would he make that decision.
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: Would it be immediately after the game Monday or Tuesday?
- 1:34:27Speaker 10: I'd say at least by Tuesday, because usually the coaches
- 1:34:30Speaker 10: meet on Tuesdays to set the game plan so that
- 1:34:33Speaker 10: they can give it to the players on Tuesday night.
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: So so that's what I'm thinking, Like, just just go
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: with me. Here. Let's just say this is the week.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: You know so far? He said, you know at this time,
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: Jacoby is our quarterback.
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: I think you'd know about it. But but I think
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: I don't think you would set himself up to be
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: diametrical what he said yesterday.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: No, but would he tell us before he told his coaches?
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: And would today be the day he would tell his coaches?
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: I think they Monday afternoon.
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: Yeah, But I mean I think that everybody would know.
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: I don't think this is going to be one of
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: those we're going to keep the identity.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't either.
- 1:35:07Speaker 6: I think he went tomorrow.
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: I think when he said yesterday that it's Brissette. I
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: don't think that he today says, no, it's it's going
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: to be May Okay. I don't think it'll be like that.
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: I think Hill had the idea in his head, like
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: there's a day and you know, maybe he's thinking to himself,
- 1:35:24Speaker 5: this is it for Brissette. He doesn't show significant improvement
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: when making the move, and then if he doesn't, then
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: he knows. I think anybody else knows too.
- 1:35:33Speaker 10: I just it just this is not going to get
- 1:35:36Speaker 10: any easier than playing this Dolphins team at home on
- 1:35:42Speaker 10: Sunday like that. This Dolphins team stinks, but they.
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: Have to score any points to win the game. The
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: defense hasn't been terrible.
- 1:35:49Speaker 6: Their defense is like thirtieth in the league.
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: And I know, but they're on the field the whole game.
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: Like I watched that game last night. I mean, do
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: you know that the tight Titans had six different scoring
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: drives that traveled less than twenty eight yards? Like, you
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: can't play defense like that. I'm sorry, you're going safeties.
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: At the end of the game, they tried an on
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: side kick and they screwed it up, so they allowed
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: the Titans to take over on the ten yard line.
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: That wasn't that bad of a defensive performance. You look
- 1:36:16Speaker 5: and say thirty one to a winless Titans team, and
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: you think they got killed. They didn't. I watched a
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: lot of that game because I was doing the matchups
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: for the preview, and that defense, just that defense reminded
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: me of the twenty three Jets. Yeah, and I'm not
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: telling you there was talented is that because they're not. No,
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: But that's what it reminded me of. They kept every
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: time they went on the field. It was in Dolphins
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: territory and they kept making full kick fifty five yard
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: field goals like they were literally giving up like twenty
- 1:36:47Speaker 5: yard scoring drives six of them. Six times they traveled
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: twenty seven or less yards and scored. That's hard.
- 1:36:55Speaker 10: Yeah, that Dolphins team statistically is terrible. Is terrible, like
- 1:36:59Speaker 10: one of the worst teams in the NFL.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: It is the lowest score. Think about how bad your
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: offense has been and they're worse.
- 1:37:06Speaker 10: Yeah, with Tyreek Hill and Mike McDaniel, it blows my mind.
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: Let's go back to the phones, Chris, Chris with a T,
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: I A N. What's up Christian?
- 1:37:20Speaker 11: Hey, guys, how's it going good? So it is pretty frustrating,
- 1:37:26Speaker 11: and I think the biggest thing for me and it
- 1:37:29Speaker 11: just feels like there's no hope right now. You know,
- 1:37:34Speaker 11: every week that goes by, whether someone else gets hurt,
- 1:37:37Speaker 11: or whether they get out coached, or whether they just
- 1:37:42Speaker 11: flat out this week, just don't have the horses. Like
- 1:37:44Speaker 11: Paul said on the postgame show, it's like we need something,
- 1:37:50Speaker 11: and that's something is sitting on the sideline and he's
- 1:37:53Speaker 11: the number three overall pick. You got to get him
- 1:37:56Speaker 11: in there sooner rather than later and see what you
- 1:37:58Speaker 11: got because right you set it off the top. We
- 1:38:03Speaker 11: don't know what Polk can do, what Baker can do,
- 1:38:06Speaker 11: what Douglas can do with with me.
- 1:38:09Speaker 15: We don't know.
- 1:38:11Speaker 11: And so I just as a fan, like I guess
- 1:38:15Speaker 11: you know, three more formal much of this whatever it
- 1:38:18Speaker 11: is like, it's it's maddening. It's maddening. Not as maddening
- 1:38:21Speaker 11: as most on the pre and post game.
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: Oh wow, Okay, it's tough.
- 1:38:29Speaker 11: He didn't know what Red Don't Fall was.
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:38:34Speaker 11: He didn't know what Red Don't Fall was, Freddy.
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: He didn't. He did embrace it though, when he heard
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: the Twilight Zone jingle.
- 1:38:42Speaker 4: All right, all right, thanks Christian. Christian is a super fan.
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: And that reminds me when we were in uh, California,
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: one of our super fans, Armor took me out because
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: in a place where near where he lives. And Sean
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: and Vancouver joined us.
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: You guys had next get to.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: Yeah, Ed from Vegas joined us, uh, and we went
- 1:39:04Speaker 4: to this place called b dot steak dot A. It's
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: an A with a little B steak yeah, and boy
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: was it. Yeah. It's in Campbell, California, Campbell B steak
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: A or a uh if you're ever in the area,
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: check it out. It was unbelievable.
- 1:39:29Speaker 10: We had a good time in San Francisco. Sounds not
- 1:39:32Speaker 10: a good game baseball game, but yeah, baseball game. Golden
- 1:39:35Speaker 10: Gate Bridge and over the bridge. We drove over the
- 1:39:38Speaker 10: bridge and then we got out and there's like a
- 1:39:40Speaker 10: lookout on the other side of the bridge, not in
- 1:39:44Speaker 10: the San Francisco side, but like across the bridge, and
- 1:39:48Speaker 10: Chris Cassidy you can throw him under the bus spent
- 1:39:51Speaker 10: the entire Uber ride complaining that we were going to
- 1:39:54Speaker 10: the Golden gate Bridge the whole time, and then he
- 1:39:57Speaker 10: did a whole photo shoot with the Golden gate Bridge
- 1:40:00Speaker 10: in the background, and I finally got him to admit
- 1:40:03Speaker 10: that he had a good time.
- 1:40:05Speaker 5: What's the complaint of going to see the Golden gate Bridge?
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: It was usually it's fog covered.
- 1:40:09Speaker 10: It was pretty far out of our way. We took
- 1:40:12Speaker 10: like a forty five minute Uber to get there. But
- 1:40:14Speaker 10: it was worth it.
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: I mean, I had never seen the bridge, so I wanted.
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: To Donald's on the way. Yeah, we went.
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: To We got to go in and out in California.
- 1:40:22Speaker 6: We went to We did for any one.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: Did you come with us when we went to Alcatraz.
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: I went to Algatraz, but not with you.
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: No, okay, I mean that that was great. That was
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: a great trip.
- 1:40:31Speaker 10: So could I I'll throw somebody else from the social
- 1:40:33Speaker 10: team under the bus. We were supposed to go to
- 1:40:35Speaker 10: Alcatraz and Neil Perry forgot to buy the tickets to Alcatraz,
- 1:40:41Speaker 10: so we so we ended up having to pivot to
- 1:40:44Speaker 10: the Giants game, which was a lot of fun too.
- 1:40:46Speaker 10: But sure we saw Alcatraz from.
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: My tickets for the Giants game were only like twenty
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: three bucks or something.
- 1:40:51Speaker 6: I think I think they were like thirty thirty bucks. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:40:54Speaker 6: not too bad.
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: To funke fun team good take Giants, fun team funny.
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: Nice place had the fun non playoff team.
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: Yeah, Eduardo writes in I just want to say I
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: didn't come in to this game with high expectations. All
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: I wanted to see coming out its progression. Didn't see
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: much in any stage of the team defense was okay.
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: Andre's fumble led me to constantly say ball better not
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: be out every time he carries the ball. One question,
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: anyone know why Thornton is still on the team taking
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: up space. If you guys think that the younger guys
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: aren't any better, But are they worse? Thornton is doing
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: nothing okay, yeah, and Osborne invisible.
- 1:41:36Speaker 5: Those two I would say are probably tenuous with their
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: roster spots. You know, Bourne's going to get activated sooner
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: rather than later. Yep. Someone's probably going to have to go,
- 1:41:47Speaker 5: and it's more than likely it's not going to be
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: a rookie. Yeah.
- 1:41:50Speaker 10: I mean, I have no idea what's going on in
- 1:41:51Speaker 10: the practice field. I'll put that out there. But he
- 1:41:54Speaker 10: only played fifteen snaps. But I saw more out of
- 1:41:57Speaker 10: kash On Booty in those fifteen snaps.
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: And I've seen and you know, I'm not a huge
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: Kayshawn Booty fan, I haven't really seen a lot of
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: explosiveness on the practice field. I would agree with that.
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: I think when he's been on the field in the
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: little short doses in these four games, he's generally noticeable,
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: whereas Thornton, who I thought looked much better in training camp,
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: is virtually invisible throwing the game.
- 1:42:20Speaker 10: So hey, gott opened a couple of times, had a
- 1:42:22Speaker 10: few good run blocks on film.
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: Also, i'd make that swap.
- 1:42:25Speaker 10: I don't know how you look at it and say
- 1:42:27Speaker 10: that Booty's the odd man out out of no way,
- 1:42:29Speaker 10: like I think he's been better.
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: Sean wants to know why does Paul still argue even
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: when he agrees that's what he does.
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: Well, Well, I mean I do argue for sport, but
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: I would need a little bit more information.
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: Yeah, first, tim says arguments. If we start May and
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: he struggles the rest of the year, are the fans
- 1:42:49Speaker 4: blaming the team or throwing the kid under the bus?
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: I'd say it'd be pretty split.
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think you got to see what
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: it looks like.
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: Of course, what are the struggles.
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: But I mean, well, trust me, if he if he
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: has struggles, which I of course he will, there are
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: people waiting in the bushes this year. Oh yeah, there
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: will be. There will be people who say that now.
- 1:43:09Speaker 5: But they're gonna blame They're gonna blame the regime for
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: playing him too quickly. There will be very little blame
- 1:43:16Speaker 5: of Drake May this year. I think that doesn't last
- 1:43:19Speaker 5: for a long time.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: What about the people from North Carolina when we were
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: thinking of drafting him. They will be on the phone, right,
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: But I'm they will be on the phone.
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: Yeah you might, I'm not. Again, you always argue with
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: me about this, Like when I say no, one will
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: be saying that as if that means zero percent, like
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: zero point zero, right, Yeah, you're gonna get a call
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: or two. I think Patriots fans. Patriots fans will be
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: very patient once May starts to play. They'll accentuate the
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: one or two plays that are positive and talk about
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: those and say, what would you expect from a rookie.
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: He's just he's just learning, That's what I'm gonna now that.
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: But that's but that will last this year. Like let's
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: just say he plays last eight or ten games, that'll
- 1:44:02Speaker 5: that'll get you to this ship. Then they're gonna want
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: to see progress next year. And if he continues to
- 1:44:06Speaker 5: make those same mistakes it's not taken the same way. Yeah,
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: of course, then people will start to say, this guy's
- 1:44:12Speaker 5: kind of looking like a bust. Yeah.
- 1:44:13Speaker 10: I'm not gonna say it's gonna be better, because to
- 1:44:16Speaker 10: Paul's point, I thought it was gonna be better going
- 1:44:18Speaker 10: into the season with perset and it hasn't been. But
- 1:44:22Speaker 10: May is going to have those flashes of just the
- 1:44:24Speaker 10: physical ability that is, it's gonna make it more digestible.
- 1:44:29Speaker 10: Even if he does have some turnovers or rookie mistakes
- 1:44:32Speaker 10: or whatever. You know, when he throws the one across
- 1:44:34Speaker 10: his body forty yard forty yards down the field, and
- 1:44:37Speaker 10: at least we're all gonna be right. Like to see
- 1:44:40Speaker 10: the one that Josh Allen made the other day.
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: Bounce, yeah, Michael, Michael tell you that the day I
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: decided that Josh Allen can play was one of his
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: worst games. But it was one throw like that was
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: like whoa, And I was like, this guy's got something.
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: He's gonna get better because you know, now, listen, it
- 1:44:57Speaker 5: would have been very easy for Josh Allen to just
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: continue to make those same, you know, kind of inaccurate throws.
- 1:45:03Speaker 5: He got more accurate. He still does stupid things, although
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: he's really seemed like a cutting back on that. Give
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: him this year so far. But do you remember that
- 1:45:11Speaker 5: that Saturday game in nineteen Mike, your first year, that
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: throw he made at the end of the game that
- 1:45:17Speaker 5: almost you know, they ended up getting down inside the
- 1:45:19Speaker 5: ten yard line. Yeah here, and they got they got
- 1:45:22Speaker 5: down inside the ten yard line, down seven, they didn't
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: get in. Patriots held on. But I was like, what,
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: this guy's got something he can This kid can play.
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: Boston Cream is on the tput line. What's that Boston cream?
- 1:45:36Speaker 27: Ay, friend, you're old enough that you're probably one of
- 1:45:38Speaker 27: the inmates at Alcatraz.
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: I know I was next to Whitey.
- 1:45:44Speaker 28: I only have one question and one comment here. First off,
- 1:45:48Speaker 28: I think that Matt is doing a tremendous job on
- 1:45:51Speaker 28: the post game. You'd never hear anything for me. And also,
- 1:45:57Speaker 28: is there any way we could get kind of an
- 1:45:59Speaker 28: all star show for PU We're talking Andy Megan, all
- 1:46:04Speaker 28: the formers, and Eric. Well, Eric can stay off, but.
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: We could, I think possibly do that Farewell union for
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: my Farewell show.
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: We'll bring everybody. Yeah, I just assume it's happening at
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: some point soon.
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: Maybe we can have like the movie, you know how
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: they do that and they bring everybody back in the
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: movie like Entourage.
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, that'd be great bunch of cameos.
- 1:46:32Speaker 9: Yeah, it'd be so funny just to see, like Eric Simon,
- 1:46:35Speaker 9: Eric has tracked with the Patriots, if anything like that.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: The question would be the first thing that you think of, Eric,
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: when I'm going to I'm going to give you a name,
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: you tell me the first thing you think of. Okay,
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Drake May, Who who's that who's that.
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: I do still watch the news.
- 1:46:56Speaker 10: He covered the team for how long we'll cover is
- 1:47:00Speaker 10: kind of yeah, But you guys talk about it like
- 1:47:02Speaker 10: he like he hates football. I just I can't imagine
- 1:47:07Speaker 10: doing this job for that long hating the sport.
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: He hated us, he hated his job, He hated me
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: and you Yeah, well, but that paled.
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: He hated anyone how much he hated.
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: He hated anyone that challenged him. You guys, shut up
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: for Christ's sake.
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: So the big thing Evan was during COVID when we
- 1:47:30Speaker 5: were doing shows from home all the time. And remember
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: it was like late July when we signed a late
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: June When was it late June, July whatever? We signed
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: Cam Newton, and Mike and I were talking as we
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: were starting to come back in, like, do you think
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: he knows that we signed Cam.
- 1:47:45Speaker 4: Newton because he was on vacation it happened.
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: And I think there was at least a fifty to
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: fifty shot that he wasn't aware of it. Now he
- 1:47:54Speaker 5: claims that he knew and you know everything, But I
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: think it was a legit conversation. To be happy, I
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: would have been on the phone whether or not whether
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: or not he knew Emergency Emergency pod Evan would have
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: been posting from his phone.
- 1:48:09Speaker 10: I posted from my phone from the Giants game roster
- 1:48:13Speaker 10: transactions on Saturday.
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: I am not getting those, by the way, I have
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: to talk to somebody immediate relations. You're not on the
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: distribution list just for that one, Sam, the release that
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: comes out on Saturdays. Like a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: Jabrill Peppers was added to the injury report on a Saturday.
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: I didn't know about it.
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: Get it?
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: This week? Alex Austin was put on IR on a Saturday.
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: I didn't get it. You guys were just talking like
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: usually I'd be like, when did that happen? Now they
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: just start talking about things on the pregame show and
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: I'm just like, Okay, I probably missed an email. I
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: don't get them.
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: Check your spam. Jerry's in Texas. What's up, Jerry?
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: You wonder why I think this could be my last show?
- 1:48:58Speaker 4: Jerry, Jerry, Hello, I'm here.
- 1:49:01Speaker 14: Thank you for taking my call. Guys, can you hear me?
- 1:49:03Speaker 11: Ye?
- 1:49:05Speaker 15: Hey, I was just wondering. I don't know how much
- 1:49:07Speaker 15: access you.
- 1:49:08Speaker 14: Guys have to practices and stuff. But and obviously Coach
- 1:49:11Speaker 14: Mayo was saying that they're scheming a short plays obviously
- 1:49:14Speaker 14: game planning for last week's game, But is there any
- 1:49:17Speaker 14: intentions on like pretty much making star out of our
- 1:49:21Speaker 14: current receivers, Like you know, like obviously, when you have
- 1:49:25Speaker 14: a good quarterback, you don't need a specific star like
- 1:49:28Speaker 14: Josh Allen when he started out, he had step on dicks,
- 1:49:30Speaker 14: but once he got really good, he wanted to spread
- 1:49:33Speaker 14: the ball. But like first starting QB or for someone
- 1:49:36Speaker 14: who's not that great, maybe having an intentional receiver to
- 1:49:40Speaker 14: go to, like game plan for that intentional receiver to
- 1:49:43Speaker 14: get more targets, get more touches, maybe d Mario Douglass,
- 1:49:46Speaker 14: maybe some of our rookies. Is there any of that
- 1:49:48Speaker 14: intention you guys see from Alex Dempel or from Coach
- 1:49:52Speaker 14: Mayo on for the future for the rest of the season.
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: Are you talking about like establishing a guy as sort
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: of his bankie, is what you're talking about exactly?
- 1:50:02Speaker 14: Yeah, somebody somebody that could be a go to And
- 1:50:04Speaker 14: I know we have the talent. It's not that all
- 1:50:06Speaker 14: the receivers are like bombs, but you know, if there's
- 1:50:10Speaker 14: some intention, I feel like as a coach that should
- 1:50:13Speaker 14: be there.
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: It's kind of it's kind of the tight end.
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: I don't think they have a guy worthy of that.
- 1:50:20Speaker 9: I would say they did target Polks seven times, so
- 1:50:23Speaker 9: maybe that says something about either what they're seeing from
- 1:50:25Speaker 9: him or how they want to get him involved. I
- 1:50:27Speaker 9: mean that seemed significant to me, and I thought two
- 1:50:29Speaker 9: weeks ago would seemed more directed to get Douglas involved
- 1:50:32Speaker 9: a little bit, get him touches.
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: And I think it'll continue to be that because I
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: don't think they have a guy that is good enough
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: to dictate the ball should go to him three out
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: of every four times. Like I just like, by the way,
- 1:50:44Speaker 5: Josh Allen was a playoff quarterback before Stefan Diggs got there.
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: Like it doesn't have to be the court, like they
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: don't want to just about the receiver. But yeah, I
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: think that they need it. You know, maybe it's going
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: to be Kendrick Bourne. You know, maybe in two weeks,
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: you know, they'll be focusing on Kendrick Bourne instead of
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: Jalen Polk and k j Osborne. I kind of agree
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: with Evan on that too many third down throws seem
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: to be designed to go to k j Osbourne.
- 1:51:13Speaker 10: Yeah, I hear you the caller, but they don't have
- 1:51:17Speaker 10: that receiver, like they're still looking for that that coverage
- 1:51:20Speaker 10: dictating receiver. But I thought in the game, you know,
- 1:51:23Speaker 10: they ran some plays on third down for Hunter Henry.
- 1:51:26Speaker 10: I definitely think that when they need to move the chains,
- 1:51:29Speaker 10: like that's where they're kind of going.
- 1:51:31Speaker 6: First and foremost with him.
- 1:51:33Speaker 10: And I was encouraged that they put Jalen Polk in
- 1:51:36Speaker 10: the in the first read in the progression a little
- 1:51:38Speaker 10: bit more this week or you know, kind of like
- 1:51:40Speaker 10: in the middle of what they were trying to do
- 1:51:43Speaker 10: schematically with the concepts. So they're seeing that he's getting
- 1:51:46Speaker 10: some separation on film, and they're kind of putting him
- 1:51:49Speaker 10: further up the package.
- 1:51:50Speaker 5: Like the back shoulder it was like twenty two yards
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: down the sideline the Polk. I mean, I think that
- 1:51:54Speaker 5: they should make I think that's they almost need to
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: force Perset to do that, right instead of just saying,
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: like broll, what did you see it?
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: No, like just just get here's the read, get him.
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: The ball, put it in well not him, just specifically,
- 1:52:08Speaker 5: just quick throat, like don't think, just throw it and
- 1:52:12Speaker 5: see if you can make a play like even the
- 1:52:15Speaker 5: like the and I know it was kind of a
- 1:52:16Speaker 5: Hail Mary esque play was fourth and sixteen or whatever
- 1:52:20Speaker 5: it was when the game was over. But like there's
- 1:52:22Speaker 5: no thought involved there. Just throw it up and see
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: if one of you guys can make a play once
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: in a while.
- 1:52:26Speaker 9: Yeah, Presett splits like at two point five seconds, like
- 1:52:30Speaker 9: under two point five seconds from this game.
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: I think it splits.
- 1:52:32Speaker 9: We're pretty good, you know, it's almost And then the
- 1:52:34Speaker 9: more it goes, the worse it gets. And it's kind
- 1:52:36Speaker 9: of counterintruitive where you think that, oh, he's got time,
- 1:52:38Speaker 9: he should be able to pick the it's not really how.
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: Remember my coaching technique for the kickers where you know.
- 1:52:46Speaker 5: We're gonna we're gonna clean that up a little bit.
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: In his family, if he doesn't make the kick, I
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: guess we're not. I was thinking what Jacobe up to,
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: like a shock thing, and if he doesn't get the
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: ball out in a certain out of time, you just give.
- 1:53:01Speaker 5: I just think that he doesn't trust what you see
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: sometimes and the whole NFL Open thing for him is
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: a problem. I agree.
- 1:53:08Speaker 10: I think that's a I like the shock system they
- 1:53:11Speaker 10: do got in practice, not shock them, but they put
- 1:53:14Speaker 10: them on a clock. Yeah, and so no, but I
- 1:53:16Speaker 10: mean there has to be a consequence of pain.
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: For not getting Yes, pain for not getting the ball
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: out of time.
- 1:53:21Speaker 10: Well that you get shot a little bit different, but
- 1:53:24Speaker 10: you got to learn.
- 1:53:26Speaker 5: Yeah, they do.
- 1:53:27Speaker 10: They will say, like, you know, we're going to go
- 1:53:29Speaker 10: with a three second clock and if you don't get
- 1:53:32Speaker 10: the ball out, we're just gonna blow a whistle and
- 1:53:34Speaker 10: we're gonna like it's a sack.
- 1:53:35Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, and.
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: It's just a whistle. I'm talking about a whistle and
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: a shock. You know. There has to be consequences.
- 1:53:42Speaker 6: You want them to torture.
- 1:53:43Speaker 5: No more hugs, No more hugs, No more hugs, Patty's
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: what's Paddy?
- 1:53:53Speaker 27: I love the idea of bred.
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: See.
- 1:53:58Speaker 27: I just wanted to say, like, I hate saying this
- 1:54:01Speaker 27: because by all accounts, Kobe seems like a great guy,
- 1:54:04Speaker 27: great teammate, great mentor. But going forward, look at the schedule,
- 1:54:09Speaker 27: I'm not sure being in and he wins, I might
- 1:54:12Speaker 27: pencil them in because he can e raise them. But
- 1:54:14Speaker 27: this week against Miami, Tennessee, Arizona, Jacksonville, those are quote
- 1:54:20Speaker 27: unquote winnable games in my opinion, but not if we're
- 1:54:24Speaker 27: throwing for more or less one hundred and fifty yards
- 1:54:27Speaker 27: a game, and thepposing defenses know that you're gonna want
- 1:54:30Speaker 27: to run the ball, and they're load enough to box
- 1:54:32Speaker 27: against you.
- 1:54:34Speaker 7: I'm done.
- 1:54:35Speaker 27: I'm done with Jacoby. I want to see Drake mayplay.
- 1:54:38Speaker 27: I mean, you see Jacoby a dad pressure and you know,
- 1:54:41Speaker 27: void sacks and stuff. You know, maybe Drake takes off
- 1:54:45Speaker 27: and runs for fifteen yards, or maybe he just doesn't
- 1:54:48Speaker 27: hesitate and makes a throw.
- 1:54:49Speaker 23: You know.
- 1:54:50Speaker 27: I want to see this tam win more than one
- 1:54:52Speaker 27: game this year because I love this team and I'm
- 1:54:54Speaker 27: gonna love him even if they do win one game
- 1:54:56Speaker 27: a year. But this year, but I've just had it.
- 1:54:59Speaker 27: I want them in.
- 1:55:00Speaker 17: Came in.
- 1:55:02Speaker 27: Let the kid get in there. Let him take his
- 1:55:04Speaker 27: freaking lump. This line is gonna stuck for the rest
- 1:55:07Speaker 27: of the year anyway. It doesn't matter. So just get
- 1:55:09Speaker 27: him in there and be done with it.
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: That's all we are now, editate us, right, that's what
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: we should be all singing. That's Nirvana. You don't know
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: from Nirvana.
- 1:55:24Speaker 5: From Fred's version. I got it. It's just bad. I
- 1:55:32Speaker 5: should talk. I have a terrible scene in Canada.
- 1:55:37Speaker 18: Hey, guys are about to Drake May question. Something I
- 1:55:43Speaker 18: think really hasn't gotten enough tension is the fact that
- 1:55:47Speaker 18: I think Elliott wolf has really failed to put Drake
- 1:55:51Speaker 18: me in a position where he can even come out
- 1:55:53Speaker 18: and play or start for this season. I heard after
- 1:55:58Speaker 18: the loss last night, lot of the there was a
- 1:56:01Speaker 18: lot of commentary, you know, mate, we shouldn't put me
- 1:56:04Speaker 18: out there. I think the fact of the matter is
- 1:56:07Speaker 18: that you'll see how many shots Jacobe's taking, and I've
- 1:56:10Speaker 18: heard comments even by our coaching staff that they sometimes
- 1:56:14Speaker 18: can't believe how he just gets up after getting walloped
- 1:56:18Speaker 18: or later May's going to end up being in that
- 1:56:21Speaker 18: in that position. And the fact is that I don't
- 1:56:24Speaker 18: think Elliott Wolfe has done very much to address that
- 1:56:28Speaker 18: serious issue. Yeah, well, I like to hear your guy's
- 1:56:31Speaker 18: thoughts on.
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: Elliott wolf Yeah, Tony, thanks for the call. I've heard
- 1:56:34Speaker 4: that a lot of people criticizing Elliott Wolfe for not
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: doing enough.
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: Have you heard they don't have a left tackle?
- 1:56:40Speaker 4: Yeah, not doing enough for the offensive line in particular. Yeah.
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: Like I said at the beginning of the show, what
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: they did to Demintre Jacobs to me was neglect, Like
- 1:56:52Speaker 5: that's not fair. So if you have a kid, that
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: they claimed off waivers to start the season, and four
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: weeks later he's on the other side of Nick Bosa and.
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: How legends are born.
- 1:57:07Speaker 5: Yeah, well, you know that's how you end up with
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: a bunch of clips online of him not even getting
- 1:57:12Speaker 5: a hand on those guys as they're going around the corner.
- 1:57:14Speaker 5: And that's not his fault. That's not like it's it's
- 1:57:17Speaker 5: just not his fault. It's like, it's not your fault's fault.
- 1:57:21Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:57:21Speaker 10: No, they're especially at the end of the game too,
- 1:57:24Speaker 10: when they kind of had to go drop back and
- 1:57:27Speaker 10: spread the field out. They really they they tried to
- 1:57:30Speaker 10: help him as much as they could early on with
- 1:57:32Speaker 10: chips and sliding protections and things like that, but at
- 1:57:36Speaker 10: some point, when you get down like that, you just
- 1:57:37Speaker 10: have to throw the ball get back in the game.
- 1:57:39Speaker 10: And Bosa was just it was like he's going through
- 1:57:42Speaker 10: a tackling dummy. It was kind of sad to watch.
- 1:57:46Speaker 6: I agree with Paul.
- 1:57:48Speaker 5: Like, he didn't even make my bad list. I didn't
- 1:57:50Speaker 5: put him on that didn't I have a conscience, No,
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: And it's just it's not his fault.
- 1:57:55Speaker 23: No.
- 1:57:55Speaker 10: When I the next Gen numbers right after the game
- 1:57:59Speaker 10: were ten quarterback pressures allowed on the left.
- 1:58:02Speaker 5: Tack by him.
- 1:58:03Speaker 10: I mean, which is it ended up being seven when
- 1:58:05Speaker 10: I when I watched it back, But that's still very
- 1:58:08Speaker 10: high a lot of them, I think, Like yeah, and
- 1:58:11Speaker 10: ev It's point like early in the game, when the
- 1:58:13Speaker 10: whole game plan was still intact, and it's those those
- 1:58:16Speaker 10: quick throws, the quick sprint outs, they were chipping and doing,
- 1:58:19Speaker 10: you know, putting some extra attention, sliding the protections and whatnot.
- 1:58:23Speaker 10: You can't do that when like it's third and five
- 1:58:25Speaker 10: and you can't just get six. You know it's third
- 1:58:28Speaker 10: and five, but were down, you know, seventeen. We need
- 1:58:31Speaker 10: a chunk play here, and we just got to traditionally
- 1:58:33Speaker 10: drop back like we like everybody else does.
- 1:58:36Speaker 5: Now you can't give help. You got to get all
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: five guys out in a route. Yeah, there wasn't wasn't
- 1:58:41Speaker 5: a fair fight.
- 1:58:42Speaker 10: On a positive note, I thought on when who actually
- 1:58:44Speaker 10: played probably his best game.
- 1:58:45Speaker 5: He was better. Yeah, he was bad.
- 1:58:47Speaker 10: He had Bosa and one on one a few times,
- 1:58:49Speaker 10: like okay, it was maybe fourteen one on ones with
- 1:58:53Speaker 10: Bosa lost only one time.
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: That's because of the feature that we did on Patriots
- 1:58:58Speaker 4: dot Com about Big mic if you haven't seen it yet,
