- 0:12Speaker 1: am the city now, I represent the city here today
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'd like to welcome you all. Today is the International
- 0:20Speaker 1: Day of Peace. Actually tomorrow is literally in the United Nations,
- 0:25Speaker 1: actually started eighteen nineteen eighty four, reinvigorated in two thousand
- 0:31Speaker 1: and two, and we have been doing a concert for
- 0:34Speaker 1: twenty three years. We've taken the bill. Yeah, and there's
- 0:39Speaker 1: some of the original community Made Peace Prevail on Earth
- 0:44Speaker 1: and Monica's religious organization, and we have that mayor. Maybe
- 0:50Speaker 1: she's gonna do a global Peace moment around noonish. We're
- 0:54Speaker 1: trying our best to get noonish and then after she
- 0:57Speaker 1: finishes ish, then Ringo starish we'll say something. Okay, we
- 1:01Speaker 1: like Bringo right, So it's all good. Everything is coming together.
- 1:06Speaker 1: But let me start off with reading something from hold
- 1:10Speaker 1: On who buryl President Mark Levine, Dear friends, it's a
- 1:24Speaker 1: pleasure to join you at pause the world for peace
- 1:27Speaker 1: and to celebrate twenty twenty five. In a world with
- 1:31Speaker 1: so much discord and in humanity, the International Day of
- 1:34Speaker 1: Piece reminds us that no matter our differences, every person
- 1:37Speaker 1: deserves to live free. Freedom. I got a freedom tie on.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I keep this tie on because I did Woodstock Woodstock
- 1:45Speaker 1: the twentieth anniversary and with Richie Havens, who sang freedom
- 1:49Speaker 1: to start Woodstock. Okay, so I'm very proud of the
- 1:54Speaker 1: freedom tie and I'm very proud of Woodstock Forever. That
- 1:57Speaker 1: Woodstock Forever portion will be at the around three point
- 2:01Speaker 1: thirty today. Okay, I'll mention that you see underneath these
- 2:05Speaker 1: chairs we have a human well we have a blue
- 2:09Speaker 1: a blue peace sign at this point, but around three
- 2:12Speaker 1: point thirty actually literally we''ll be lining up to create
- 2:16Speaker 1: a human peace sign and Fumi will we have all
- 2:20Speaker 1: the flags? Where are those flags? We need the flags?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Are they down here? Okay? Well the flags need to
- 2:30Speaker 1: be somewhere, all right, So because we're gonna have like
- 2:33Speaker 1: a couple hundred flags and we're gonna be handing them
- 2:35Speaker 1: out and we're gonna create a human peace sign and
- 2:38Speaker 1: a flag ceremony, and Katya will play some piano. We
- 2:43Speaker 1: got hook up planets video and Shakira we'll saying imagine
- 2:49Speaker 1: from the United Nations. That's gonna be virtual, just like
- 2:52Speaker 1: Michael Douglas. So the Superstars, Oh, and then Stevie Wonder
- 2:56Speaker 1: and doctor Jane Goodall also virtual. We can't bring him
- 2:59Speaker 1: here because there'd be little more than three hundred thousand
- 3:04Speaker 1: that will walk past Times Square today. It would be
- 3:07Speaker 1: a bigger thing. Back to the Mark Levine Borough President,
- 3:10Speaker 1: by pausing the world for peace, we create a space
- 3:13Speaker 1: for reflection, healing and dialogue that can lead to lasting
- 3:17Speaker 1: change and peace is not merely the absence of conflict,
- 3:21Speaker 1: but the presence of justice. For over twenty years, the
- 3:25Speaker 1: state is called to unite and build a more compassionate,
- 3:27Speaker 1: equitable world on behalf of the Borough of Manhattan. That's
- 3:31Speaker 1: where we are. But as we all know, it's one world. Okay.
- 3:36Speaker 1: We could call these places America, we could call it
- 3:38Speaker 1: a country, but the bottom line, it's Mother Earth. And
- 3:42Speaker 1: today we're also celebrating New York Week Climate as well.
- 3:47Speaker 1: And you'll hear from the doctor Jane Goodall that if
- 3:50Speaker 1: we don't take care of Mother Earth, we'll never have peace, okay,
- 3:54Speaker 1: because we'll flood the sad things. There's some concerning situations
- 3:58Speaker 1: here and we need to be uh cognizant is the word.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I think we need to be aware that there's some
- 4:04Speaker 1: concerns okay, and unitedly, we have to pull our act
- 4:08Speaker 1: together
