- 0:03Speaker 1: We never had a Christmas tree when I was growing
- 0:05Speaker 1: up because we were like too Jewish. But now what
- 0:08Speaker 1: do you have in your home? I have not a
- 0:12Speaker 1: Christmas tree. It does it set ablaze and start speaking
- 0:15Speaker 1: with the voice of Jesus? It not, No, but it
- 0:21Speaker 1: does have Tonica manoras and it has a fluid white
- 0:25Speaker 1: and stilver gross. Yes, friend, you are an innkeeper? Okay? Yea.
- 0:35Speaker 1: The year is four or five BC. Wait am I
- 0:38Speaker 1: a man in this scenario? We're a woman? I said
- 0:40Speaker 1: you were an innkeeper? Which, ok but what is the
- 0:43Speaker 1: gender of the innkeeper? What do you think male? Because
- 0:47Speaker 1: I don't think women were allowed to at in BC?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Yeah maybe in BC women were not allowed to be Okay,
- 0:54Speaker 1: so I'm a male innkeeper. You are a You are
- 0:56Speaker 1: a woman who has traversed the system. Okay, You're a boss.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You are you are the primordial girl boss in the
- 1:04Speaker 1: year four or five BC. Okay, okay, are you leaving
- 1:08Speaker 1: a good review at the end? I own? I mean,
- 1:11Speaker 1: how did you do? I mean? That's what I'm this
- 1:13Speaker 1: is what I'm saying is that when this couple shows
- 1:15Speaker 1: up at your door and you basically told them that
- 1:16Speaker 1: there's like no room, that does I would leave a
- 1:19Speaker 1: one star review. That does sound like something I would do.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I think that they were very entitled. Who who are
- 1:25Speaker 1: we talking about? Mary and Joseph? Okay, so this isn't
- 1:29Speaker 1: just a thought exercise. You are trying to set up
- 1:32Speaker 1: the story of Christmas. Yes, here on this podcast. You
- 1:36Speaker 1: come on and you say, have you ever heard of Twilight?
- 1:38Speaker 1: Have you heard of Taylor Swift? And I come on
- 1:41Speaker 1: this podcast and I say, have you ever heard of
- 1:42Speaker 1: the Birth of Jesus Christ? Rose? Have you? I've heard
- 1:46Speaker 1: of it? Mary? Did you know? There is so much
- 1:49Speaker 1: about Christmas that I don't understand as a very reformed
- 1:53Speaker 1: Jewish girl who grew up in book raton. So I'm
- 1:55Speaker 1: very excited that today we are going to get into
- 1:58Speaker 1: a discussion about religious Christmas and secular Christmas. So I
- 2:02Speaker 1: guess like today we're fighting a battle in the war
- 2:06Speaker 1: on Christmas. Yea, Well, what side are you on? The
- 2:08Speaker 1: secular one? Yeah? This is like a virgin where we
- 2:12Speaker 1: give yesterday's pop culture. Well, I guess today we're giving
- 2:16Speaker 1: BCS culture a d S takes. I'm I'm Rose dam
- 2:22Speaker 1: you and I'm Fran Toronto. So stick around. We're going
- 2:26Speaker 1: to get into the birth of Jesus later, but right now,
- 2:29Speaker 1: we're going to talk about the birth of a bunch
- 2:32Speaker 1: of tweets this week. We have a lot of things
- 2:38Speaker 1: to celebrate and be joyful about, as maybe the angels
- 2:43Speaker 1: that came to Jesus would say, among them, the end
- 2:47Speaker 1: of Succession, much to your joy and tribulation. Girl. I
- 2:53Speaker 1: just I'm happy that people like succession, I guess, but
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm so much happier that it's over so people will
- 3:01Speaker 1: stop tweeting about it. And I understand that this is
- 3:03Speaker 1: probably something a lot of people feel about things that
- 3:06Speaker 1: we're interested in that we talk about when they reach
- 3:09Speaker 1: like critical mass. But I just am not interested in succession,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and the way that people talk about it online has
- 3:16Speaker 1: been super annoying for me. So I'm just really happy
- 3:19Speaker 1: it's over and I don't have to see tweets about
- 3:22Speaker 1: it anymore. But I do still have to keep clicking
- 3:25Speaker 1: not interested on Succession TikTok's because I need the algorithm
- 3:30Speaker 1: to understand that I don't watch it. You know, as
- 3:33Speaker 1: a succession watcher, even I can empathize and honestly completely
- 3:39Speaker 1: empower you to hate on succession. Anybody to hate on
- 3:42Speaker 1: Succession because there are a lot of parts of the
- 3:44Speaker 1: shows that are of like middling quality and success, and
- 3:47Speaker 1: it's like people treat it like it's like the second
- 3:49Speaker 1: coming of like The Departed, or like of the best
- 3:52Speaker 1: TV show ever created, and well, let's not give it
- 3:54Speaker 1: more air time than it already has. Uh. Something on
- 3:59Speaker 1: h Max that I am more excited for than Succession
- 4:02Speaker 1: is the Harry Potter reunion that's happening on January one.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Have you seen the trailer for this return to Hogwarts? No?
- 4:11Speaker 1: And I I love and support you, but I won't.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I won't be watching the trailer. I will be watching.
- 4:19Speaker 1: We will be watching it together on New Year's Day
- 4:22Speaker 1: in our rental house of Joshua Tree. I hope you
- 4:25Speaker 1: know that. I don't know about that. I don't know. Yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: we will take a break from our Lord of the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Rings marathon to watch return to Hogwarts. We'll see about that. Okay,
- 4:34Speaker 1: um are you? Are you like and do you consider
- 4:37Speaker 1: yourself an a girl? I'm not on film Twitter per se,
- 4:42Speaker 1: so I'm not I'm not going to maybe, um know
- 4:44Speaker 1: the like all of the things about like what makes
- 4:47Speaker 1: A twenty four a superior production company? However, I do
- 4:50Speaker 1: like a lot of the things that come out of it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I think a fun tidbit about in general is that
- 4:56Speaker 1: they make a ba billion movies a year, but they
- 4:59Speaker 1: only mark get like of their films, and a lot
- 5:03Speaker 1: of people don't know about, like all the flop movies
- 5:06Speaker 1: that they produced that no one has ever heard of. However,
- 5:09Speaker 1: all of the amazing movies that they do I always
- 5:12Speaker 1: adore well, such as the trailer that just came out
- 5:14Speaker 1: with Um Michelle Yah, which I will be in the
- 5:17Speaker 1: theater first day when I see. I'm very excited for that.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I'm also super excited for The Northman. The trailer for
- 5:23Speaker 1: that just came out. It's the new Robert Eggers movie.
- 5:26Speaker 1: He did The Lighthouse and the Witch or the Bitch
- 5:30Speaker 1: depending on the depending on the stylization of it. And
- 5:36Speaker 1: it's like a Viking movie starring lots of hot blonde people.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So Alexander's Scars Garden, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor Joy and
- 5:46Speaker 1: it like, weirdly enough, kind of seems like a prequel
- 5:50Speaker 1: for True Blood, because did you did you watch True Blood? Uh? No,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I didn't. You should definitely go back and watch it.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But so Alexander Scars Guard who played Eric that like
- 6:00Speaker 1: bad boy vampire. His whole back st are on the
- 6:03Speaker 1: show is that he was a viking, and like there's
- 6:06Speaker 1: one season where he's on this quest for vengeance, and
- 6:09Speaker 1: this movie is also about a viking who's on a
- 6:12Speaker 1: quest for vengeance. So maybe this is the Eric Northman
- 6:15Speaker 1: origin story we've been waiting for. Um. But Nicole is
- 6:19Speaker 1: wearing another amazing yet incredibly clocky wig. But also Bjork
- 6:26Speaker 1: is in this movie. I think, yeah, I think she's
- 6:28Speaker 1: playing some kind of soothsayer, which which tracks that's crazy.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I did not. I need, I need to watch this trailer. Yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'm I'm very excited. You know, we are kind of
- 6:39Speaker 1: at critical mass of things being released right now. It's
- 6:43Speaker 1: like peak movie release season, peak TV season. Have you
- 6:47Speaker 1: heard of this Showtime show, Yellow Jackets. You texted me
- 6:51Speaker 1: about it. I saw some tweets about it. I heard
- 6:53Speaker 1: that it's making Showtime gay again. What's the gift? So
- 6:57Speaker 1: it's a show about a high school girls soccer team, um,
- 7:02Speaker 1: who is on their way to a tournament and they're
- 7:04Speaker 1: plane crashes and like, in trying to survive in the wilderness,
- 7:09Speaker 1: they become this sort of lord of the flies, like
- 7:13Speaker 1: cannibalistic scenario UM and then so half of the show
- 7:18Speaker 1: takes place during that time period, and then half of
- 7:22Speaker 1: the show follows the survivors UM twenty five years later,
- 7:27Speaker 1: who are played by Melanie Lynsky, who's like an icon.
- 7:32Speaker 1: She's been in so many movies over the years, like
- 7:34Speaker 1: she was in Kyote Ugly As she Wasn't ever after
- 7:37Speaker 1: Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Tawny Cypriss. You know, so
- 7:42Speaker 1: you know that they survived, but like not really who
- 7:46Speaker 1: else And there's like mysterious letters about people knowing what happened.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And it's just really good. It is gay, it's it's
- 7:55Speaker 1: funny and dramatic. I really think you should watch it.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I think you'd love I can't wait to figure out
- 8:01Speaker 1: how I'm going to steal someone else's Showtime access. Well,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I did get a free trial to show Time, so
- 8:08Speaker 1: you can use my log in. Okay, thank you, because
- 8:11Speaker 1: I've definitely already used my free trial of Showtime to
- 8:14Speaker 1: watch I think the L word. I still need to
- 8:19Speaker 1: do an L word watch. I guess we'll have to
- 8:20Speaker 1: do an episode on it at some point because I've
- 8:22Speaker 1: never seen it. It's definitely on the list. So Rose,
- 8:26Speaker 1: I don't know about you, but I personally I'm just
- 8:28Speaker 1: like always, always, you know, sitting around and waiting for
- 8:32Speaker 1: assists heterosexual man to tell me how to feel about representation.
- 8:36Speaker 1: How about you. Yeah, it's my favorite thing to to
- 8:39Speaker 1: talk about truly, because you know, like it's it's more
- 8:43Speaker 1: something you receive exactly exactly. So Aaron Sorkin, I don't
- 8:47Speaker 1: know if you've read um, was on the Sunday Times
- 8:49Speaker 1: defending his decision to cast have Your Bard m a
- 8:53Speaker 1: Spaniard into the role of the Cuban Desi Arnaz, and
- 8:58Speaker 1: he somehow transitioned into talking about straight actors and gay
- 9:02Speaker 1: roles and how I love when this conversation comes up.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I think once a quarter at least. Yeah, it's it's
- 9:10Speaker 1: it's the best. He He basically argues that, like, you
- 9:13Speaker 1: can't act straight or gay, and he says, so this
- 9:15Speaker 1: notion that only gay actors should play gay characters, that
- 9:18Speaker 1: only a Cuban actor should play Desi, Honestly, it's the
- 9:21Speaker 1: mother of all empty gestures and a bad idea. Well
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know what else was a bad idea The television
- 9:28Speaker 1: show The news Room, which is the worst the worst
- 9:33Speaker 1: thing I've ever watched. And I used to go over
- 9:36Speaker 1: to a friend's house to watch True Blood and we
- 9:39Speaker 1: started watching Newsroom after when it started, and like three
- 9:42Speaker 1: episodes in, we were watching Newsroom and I stood up
- 9:45Speaker 1: and said to everyone, I can't do this anymore. This
- 9:48Speaker 1: show is bad and I will not watch another moment
- 9:52Speaker 1: of it. And I walked out, and from then on,
- 9:55Speaker 1: every night, as soon as True Blood ended, I was
- 9:57Speaker 1: out of there. I I kind of want to get
- 9:59Speaker 1: into the weeds. He y're I I fucking hate that
- 10:01Speaker 1: I have to explain this, But the truth is, like
- 10:04Speaker 1: most people don't understand that there's a difference between someone
- 10:08Speaker 1: who speaks Spanish and someone who is Latino. And like
- 10:12Speaker 1: it must be said that Javier Bardem is white. He's
- 10:16Speaker 1: he's not Latin. He's Hispanic, yes, but like he was
- 10:20Speaker 1: only cast into this role because he's an amazing actor
- 10:23Speaker 1: and because he has an accent. But an accent does
- 10:26Speaker 1: not lettin you that make and does r Nez was
- 10:29Speaker 1: also white, Like he's like a white Tino. Yeah, but
- 10:33Speaker 1: more importantly, he existed during a time where he was
- 10:36Speaker 1: like most certainly marginalized. Like people still consider Lucy and
- 10:40Speaker 1: Ricky like the first interracial couple on TV, despite the
- 10:44Speaker 1: fact that being Latin is an ethnicity not a race,
- 10:46Speaker 1: and Lucy and does he are technically both white? Um So, like,
- 10:51Speaker 1: in my like humble opinion, like I don't give a
- 10:53Speaker 1: ship about like a white man playing like a different
- 10:57Speaker 1: kind of white. However, given the background of who does
- 11:01Speaker 1: he was at the time and how that still was
- 11:03Speaker 1: groundbreaking as a public figure, the role still should have
- 11:07Speaker 1: gone to a Latin actor, you know what I mean? Yeah, absolutely,
- 11:11Speaker 1: And like with the queer people and queer roles of
- 11:13Speaker 1: it all, like the reason we cast queer and trans
- 11:16Speaker 1: characters and queer and trans roles is because like we're
- 11:19Speaker 1: making up for a century of like whitewashing and straight washing,
- 11:22Speaker 1: and like how we are just always giving jobs to
- 11:26Speaker 1: people that are not historically marginalized the classes were like
- 11:29Speaker 1: totally signing up to represent quote unquote Yeah, I think
- 11:33Speaker 1: that's that's one of the parts he's missing in all
- 11:36Speaker 1: this is like it's not about acting a role, it's
- 11:40Speaker 1: about like a authenticity and be the fact that you know,
- 11:44Speaker 1: queer people and other marginalized folks don't have the same
- 11:48Speaker 1: opportunities as white cys hetero people, and like that is
- 11:53Speaker 1: the reckoning we're trying to have. Speaking of authentic storytelling,
- 11:58Speaker 1: did you did you watch episode you of and just
- 12:00Speaker 1: like that, I did. And girl, let's let's talk about
- 12:07Speaker 1: the most shocking revelation of this episode, which is that
- 12:11Speaker 1: it was revealed that Big did get vaccinated. It was
- 12:17Speaker 1: there's a moment where Carrie is fumbling through his stuff
- 12:20Speaker 1: and through his wall and she pulls out Big vaccination card. Okay,
- 12:23Speaker 1: well that's interesting considering how like COVID like doesn't exist
- 12:29Speaker 1: in and just like that, like it's just over. There's
- 12:31Speaker 1: no doubt it just ended. I guess, like spoiler alert
- 12:35Speaker 1: for anybody who hasn't watched the episode, were no spoiler
- 12:38Speaker 1: alerts like yeah, we don't take your life into your
- 12:40Speaker 1: hands listening to this podcast not in my house. Um, yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 1: there's this whole like hubub about the fact that Big
- 12:47Speaker 1: gave a postumus one million dollar donation to his ex
- 12:50Speaker 1: wife Natasha. But honestly, I thought it was going to
- 12:53Speaker 1: be like Big gives like a one million dollar donation
- 12:56Speaker 1: to like the RNC, or he definitely he definitely does that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: My mom told me she has a theory that she
- 13:02Speaker 1: thinks it's true that Big gave that money to Natasha
- 13:05Speaker 1: because either one or both of her sons are his children.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And I was like and I was like, no, Mom,
- 13:11Speaker 1: it's not That's not what that's about. Like this story
- 13:14Speaker 1: is a closed loop about like Carry processing her grief.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And actually, you know, I didn't like most of the episode,
- 13:21Speaker 1: but that storyline was my favorite part. And it was
- 13:26Speaker 1: the part of the show that felt the most like
- 13:28Speaker 1: Sex in the City. You know, Carry having to face
- 13:32Speaker 1: the consequences of her bad decisions. That was the whole
- 13:35Speaker 1: thing with her and Big and Natasha. Like I just
- 13:39Speaker 1: loved the reminder that Carry is fundamentally a bad person
- 13:44Speaker 1: and sort of the like slapstick Hi jinks of going
- 13:47Speaker 1: to Natasha's office and her seeing them in the window
- 13:50Speaker 1: and then like trying to get into the bathroom and
- 13:52Speaker 1: spelling the coffee, Like that felt very much like a
- 13:57Speaker 1: Sex and the City episode to me. But know what
- 14:00Speaker 1: didn't feel like a Sex in the City episode was
- 14:03Speaker 1: Shade As Is Comedy special slash slash ted talk about
- 14:08Speaker 1: gender um I like, who, first of all the people
- 14:16Speaker 1: snapping in the audience was so triggering to me personally,
- 14:23Speaker 1: so disingenuous. It's again like we said this last, but
- 14:26Speaker 1: it's just like so many things where it's like these
- 14:29Speaker 1: are all cartoons of what people think queer and trans
- 14:33Speaker 1: culture is, and they're literally doing a set set and
- 14:37Speaker 1: in quotation marks because I didn't think it was very funny.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Also no offense, but like queer and trans people aren't
- 14:43Speaker 1: going to stand up, like it's not not like a
- 14:46Speaker 1: stand up in mass Like if this were realistic, the
- 14:49Speaker 1: audience of Shaddea's stand up show would be probably mostly
- 14:52Speaker 1: heterosexuals and like white people. And that's why the material,
- 14:56Speaker 1: both in world and out of world feels oriented to
- 15:00Speaker 1: straight people because queer people queer people don't need to
- 15:03Speaker 1: receive that. And it's like so much telling rather than showing,
- 15:07Speaker 1: which is like really uninteresting and and just like bad
- 15:11Speaker 1: TV making writing one oh one. Truly, I will say
- 15:16Speaker 1: I'm not defending that moment, but I was pretty enraptured
- 15:20Speaker 1: by what is Shay and Miranda's first sensual moment. I
- 15:26Speaker 1: am somehow here for it, even though I hate, hate,
- 15:30Speaker 1: hate Shay as a character. I also think that what's
- 15:33Speaker 1: happening with Charlotte's trans kid is something that I think
- 15:38Speaker 1: we'll have a lot of cringe to it. But also like,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I think that her reaction to her kid is pretty human,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and I think it's also hilarious that she immediately goes
- 15:48Speaker 1: to like the cis gay guy invalidate her trans child's
- 15:52Speaker 1: identity immediately. It's the most transpic response, which is actually realistic.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I do hope that what's happening with Miranda and Shay
- 16:00Speaker 1: is like part of why Miranda has been set up
- 16:04Speaker 1: so horribly thus far in the series. I did see
- 16:07Speaker 1: something on TikTok where someone was doing an analysis of this,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and like, basically what they were saying is, like Miranda
- 16:14Speaker 1: is a very good example of this like breed of
- 16:16Speaker 1: white women who thought of themselves as really progressive in
- 16:21Speaker 1: the nineties and are now having to reckon with the
- 16:24Speaker 1: fact that they actually are not that progressive um, and
- 16:29Speaker 1: like that is being cracked open for them. And so
- 16:32Speaker 1: I hope that in this romance with Cha, like Miranda
- 16:37Speaker 1: kind of finds herself again in a way that is
- 16:40Speaker 1: not like obnoxious and hard to watch because I can't
- 16:45Speaker 1: I can't see another stand up set. I can't do it. Oh,
- 16:48Speaker 1: absolutely not. Obviously, Also, as we talk about culture and
- 16:54Speaker 1: feminism and the kind of thinkers that created how we
- 16:58Speaker 1: kind of view shows like Sex in the City. Bell
- 17:01Speaker 1: Hooks did die this last week. Um, an amazing feminist writer, philosopher,
- 17:07Speaker 1: thinker um who has like created leaps and bounds of
- 17:12Speaker 1: like thought and work around like what it means to love,
- 17:16Speaker 1: what it means to be queer, what it means to
- 17:18Speaker 1: be fem to be a woman. UM. And I think
- 17:21Speaker 1: that you know, whatever thoughts you have on bell Hooks Hooks, Um,
- 17:26Speaker 1: you cannot deny that she had an invaluable contribution to
- 17:30Speaker 1: how we talk about like love and beauty and community today. UM.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And how it's all like an interactive process. UM. So yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I think that uh, as a little gabie who used
- 17:44Speaker 1: to take classes at the Kidsie Institute, was like so
- 17:47Speaker 1: thirsty for sorry sorry, I I that insufferable sentence needed
- 17:52Speaker 1: to be said in the context of this, like bell
- 17:54Speaker 1: Hooks was one of the first like little packets that
- 17:58Speaker 1: was like handed to me in a class. Um. And
- 18:01Speaker 1: I'm really grateful for her work and for others like her.
- 18:05Speaker 1: If virgins have never read Bell Hooks have never engaged
- 18:08Speaker 1: with her work, All about Love to me is the
- 18:11Speaker 1: best book to start with. I think it's a really
- 18:14Speaker 1: great introduction to the rest of her ethos. And yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 1: y'all really deserve to read some Bellhooks this weekend, the
- 18:22Speaker 1: like a virgin book club weekends. Yes, I don't. I mean,
- 18:45Speaker 1: do you think you could like fudge your way through
- 18:48Speaker 1: it the Nativity story? We can do it together. Okay. So, um,
- 18:55Speaker 1: there's this person Mary. I don't want to assume their gender. Okay,
- 19:01Speaker 1: the PC police are in here, and um they are pregnant. Yeah, Um,
- 19:12Speaker 1: she is pregnant. Okay, she's pregnant Mary assis woman. Okay,
- 19:19Speaker 1: allegedly that's what That's what Big Christianity wants us to think. Mary, Joseph, Jesus,
- 19:24Speaker 1: they were all white and sis for sure. Jesus was
- 19:29Speaker 1: sis assists white man. Okay, So Mary's pregnant, but she
- 19:38Speaker 1: didn't have sex with anyone? She yes, she said she
- 19:41Speaker 1: was a virgin, but but like pregnant, but like did
- 19:44Speaker 1: she lie? I mean, listen, believe women. But also sounds fishy.
- 19:50Speaker 1: It sounds it sounds fishy. It's already you know. She
- 19:54Speaker 1: said up what I never understood was was married. Because
- 19:57Speaker 1: she's married. Mary's married to a man. I actually don't
- 20:01Speaker 1: remember if they were married married or if they were
- 20:04Speaker 1: like betrothed and like because because like have they Is
- 20:09Speaker 1: she fully a virgin or was this just this was
- 20:14Speaker 1: this was a virgin birth? So in the biblical retelling,
- 20:17Speaker 1: it's like this hysterical pregnancy and like she's basically been
- 20:21Speaker 1: birthed by God and the Holy She's basically been impregnated
- 20:25Speaker 1: by God and the Holy Spirit and Angel. Come. How
- 20:29Speaker 1: did that work? Did she consent? I fucking hope so?
- 20:33Speaker 1: But it did not make it seem that way in
- 20:34Speaker 1: the Bible story, That's what I'm saying. So how did this? Um,
- 20:40Speaker 1: she didn't cant because she was surprised. She was like,
- 20:43Speaker 1: oh my god, I'm pregnant. Yeah, so like how did
- 20:46Speaker 1: the god sex happened? Yeah? I don't know that that
- 20:50Speaker 1: that part of the story is a little murky. Was
- 20:52Speaker 1: it in a dream? Was it? Like it sounds like
- 20:55Speaker 1: Mary was actually like in her real house. I was back.
- 20:57Speaker 1: She was actually just trying to stir the pot and
- 20:59Speaker 1: she like, listen, I'm I'm pregnant, but I'm a virgin,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and you know the room gas. I mean, what if
- 21:05Speaker 1: I came into the studio today and told you fran
- 21:10Speaker 1: I'm pregnant, but I've never had sex. Well you would
- 21:14Speaker 1: be surprised a because I don't have a womb. So okay,
- 21:19Speaker 1: so yeah, maybe this is like the the version of
- 21:24Speaker 1: the Virgin Mary story. I walk into the studio and
- 21:27Speaker 1: I say, for him, I have been feeling really weird,
- 21:31Speaker 1: and I like, I was having these symptoms. I'm the
- 21:34Speaker 1: only thing, you know. I was doing that kind of
- 21:36Speaker 1: movie thing where you google all your symptoms and it
- 21:40Speaker 1: was like, well, are you pregnant? And I was like,
- 21:43Speaker 1: of course I'm not pregnant. I was I'm I'm a
- 21:46Speaker 1: mad you know. Um. But just as a laugh, a
- 21:50Speaker 1: little funny chuckle, I took a pregnancy test and it
- 21:54Speaker 1: says I'm pregnant. Oh what do you? What do you do?
- 21:58Speaker 1: What do you say if I tell you that? Well,
- 21:59Speaker 1: I'm I guess the first question I'm going to ask
- 22:02Speaker 1: is can I take you on a pilgrimage to to
- 22:04Speaker 1: Bethlehem on a donkey? That's the first thing you're asking
- 22:09Speaker 1: this in that situation, this scenario, that is my primary concern.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I also wonder what if if this happens, what our
- 22:15Speaker 1: producer Phoebe is doing, well, she would be one of
- 22:19Speaker 1: the one of the wise men, one of these. So
- 22:21Speaker 1: Phoebe is one of the wise Are you bringing? What?
- 22:24Speaker 1: What gift are you bringing? Gold? Frankinsense, murder? What you
- 22:26Speaker 1: got is bringing? Oh yeah, let's be clear about this.
- 22:31Speaker 1: If this does happen and I have a you know,
- 22:34Speaker 1: like magical trans pregnancy, I'm not keeping the baby, do
- 22:39Speaker 1: you know? Not? Not not right now, not until we're
- 22:42Speaker 1: doing keep it numbers. But what what if a chorus
- 22:45Speaker 1: of angels come to you in a dream and they
- 22:48Speaker 1: say that your child is going to be the Messiah?
- 22:51Speaker 1: That sounds like so much work. Honestly, like I would
- 22:55Speaker 1: rather they say, Oh, he's going to be a doctor,
- 22:58Speaker 1: he's gonna she's gonna be a fashion designer. They're gonna
- 23:03Speaker 1: be um you know, uh sound cloud rapper. Right. You know,
- 23:08Speaker 1: I don't want I don't want to have to deal
- 23:10Speaker 1: with being the mother of the Messiah. It's a lot
- 23:14Speaker 1: like that's pulling a lot of focus from me. Yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 1: it is. It is that I would become immediately. That's
- 23:20Speaker 1: like one of the main reasons I don't think I
- 23:22Speaker 1: could ever have kids, as I would be immediately jealous
- 23:25Speaker 1: of the baby. Okay, So, so fran Um in the Okay,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I want to hear more about about the you know,
- 23:32Speaker 1: the Nativity. So Mary's pregnant. Mary's pregnant may may have
- 23:38Speaker 1: been sexually assaulted by God. Yeah may, It's entirely possible.
- 23:42Speaker 1: She also maybe is just trying to cover up a
- 23:45Speaker 1: part of her story that you know, she doesn't lie
- 23:47Speaker 1: out there yet, and everyone's like not respecting her boundaries
- 23:50Speaker 1: on this issue. Um. They follow a star, okay, to Bethlehem.
- 23:57Speaker 1: A star, Yeah, like a literal star with the star.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It's like the North Star, the star of Bethlehem, or
- 24:03Speaker 1: like there's a star over the Holy city and you
- 24:06Speaker 1: follow it to get there or something like that. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: don't understand how that works. It's the I can barely
- 24:12Speaker 1: follow Google Maps. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's like,
- 24:16Speaker 1: how did they get this pregnant? She was probably like
- 24:19Speaker 1: very very young, Like I can. I can without directions
- 24:23Speaker 1: get to maybe three places in Los Angeles, which one
- 24:27Speaker 1: one of which is the drive through Starbucks I go
- 24:30Speaker 1: to every day, the other one is your apartment, and
- 24:32Speaker 1: the third one is Target Wow. And so I definitely
- 24:36Speaker 1: could not follow a star to a city I've never
- 24:39Speaker 1: been to. No, you can't. But I mean women can't drive,
- 24:43Speaker 1: So that's that's maybe part of the Okay, let's move on.
- 24:46Speaker 1: That's I feel like. Okay, they go to the inn,
- 24:50Speaker 1: they say there's no room. In the end, they say
- 24:52Speaker 1: there's been some confusion over rooming here she is. They
- 24:56Speaker 1: decide to sleep in a barn because that's all they
- 24:59Speaker 1: have available to them, And then I guess, so this
- 25:01Speaker 1: is like this has become an Airbnb situation. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:06Speaker 1: this is an Airbnb scenario. And they say, I'm sorry,
- 25:08Speaker 1: we're completely booked up for the night, but we have
- 25:10Speaker 1: a guest house that on the Airbnb and listing it
- 25:13Speaker 1: says it's the entire house, but it's actually on the property,
- 25:17Speaker 1: and it's like, you know, you don't have any privacy
- 25:19Speaker 1: at all. I hate that because, you know what, in
- 25:21Speaker 1: my search settings, I always click the entire home. But
- 25:25Speaker 1: when I first got on Airbnb, I used to do
- 25:28Speaker 1: like the room, like where you would sleep in the
- 25:30Speaker 1: room of a household, and I would like sleep on
- 25:32Speaker 1: in farms. And I actually made friends that way. It
- 25:34Speaker 1: was actually kind of fun. But I would never do it.
- 25:36Speaker 1: You wanted us to do that. Remember when we were
- 25:38Speaker 1: thinking about going away this summer, and there was like
- 25:41Speaker 1: a guest barn or something I wanted us if it's
- 25:44Speaker 1: a completely separate house. And we we are days out
- 25:49Speaker 1: from our vacation because we haven't planned property properly, and
- 25:52Speaker 1: we're looking at listings last minute. Yes, I'm going to
- 25:55Speaker 1: get a little desperate, but no, in an ideal scenario,
- 25:57Speaker 1: we're not saying staying in a guesthouse. Okay. But Mary
- 26:00Speaker 1: and her man, Marry and her Man pulled up um
- 26:06Speaker 1: and uh And apparently, according to lore, so did three
- 26:11Speaker 1: wiseman and a bunch of animals and a bunch of
- 26:13Speaker 1: shepherds and a chorus of angels and what how did
- 26:16Speaker 1: they know what was going down? Well, so that basically
- 26:20Speaker 1: angels came to the wise men too, and the shepherds.
- 26:24Speaker 1: These angels were kind of like they they love to
- 26:28Speaker 1: kind of like send they love to kind of like
- 26:30Speaker 1: stir the pot that way. You know. They were really
- 26:33Speaker 1: into gossip. They love to kind of like, you know,
- 26:36Speaker 1: make it their business to talk about everything that wasn't
- 26:39Speaker 1: their business basically, And so they came to Joseph in
- 26:42Speaker 1: a dream. They came to the shepherds, and dream they
- 26:44Speaker 1: came to Marry and a dream. They came to the
- 26:45Speaker 1: wise Men and they were like, this is the scenario.
- 26:48Speaker 1: God looked at Mary and said, look, Mary isn't doing
- 26:51Speaker 1: it like the other girls are doing it. And so
- 26:54Speaker 1: she is going to have the Messiah because like this
- 26:57Speaker 1: is her destiny. And the angels are like, Okayd, like
- 27:00Speaker 1: we got you. We're gonna help spread the worst. So
- 27:03Speaker 1: Mary has the baby and then they're like, this is
- 27:07Speaker 1: the son of God. Yeah. Well, I guess the wise
- 27:10Speaker 1: Men were supposed to basically, I guess they were. They
- 27:14Speaker 1: were hired by King Herod to scout out the Messiah
- 27:18Speaker 1: and report back so that King Herod could kill him,
- 27:21Speaker 1: could kill Baby Jesus. But the angel because you want
- 27:24Speaker 1: to kill baby Jesus because King I don't know, King
- 27:27Speaker 1: Herod is like trying to you know, be a be
- 27:30Speaker 1: a girl boss. He's trying to you know, really like
- 27:33Speaker 1: establish his h his authority, and you know, a baby
- 27:37Speaker 1: Messiah is really gonna like harsh his game, is it?
- 27:39Speaker 1: Because kings are supposed to be like God on earth
- 27:44Speaker 1: and so they didn't want like actual God on earth.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I think so, actually, I think that's actually a big
- 27:50Speaker 1: part of like the old the breaching from the Old
- 27:54Speaker 1: Testament to the New Testament. There there were a lot
- 27:56Speaker 1: of like dictators and kings and leaders that were like,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I'm Holy, I'm God. And then God was like, let
- 28:05Speaker 1: me pull up into Mary's womb and show these girls,
- 28:09Speaker 1: well I'm made of Okay, So more so than anyone,
- 28:12Speaker 1: I kind of identify with King Herod Okay. And you
- 28:17Speaker 1: know what I'm actually envisioning now is a um a
- 28:21Speaker 1: Nativity play in which I play all of the roles,
- 28:24Speaker 1: all of share doing west Side stories, which I think
- 28:27Speaker 1: would slap. There's gonna be songs as well. I'm sure, yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: of course, of course, Okay, that would be great. What
- 28:32Speaker 1: would the songs be, um? Well, would it be a
- 28:36Speaker 1: jukebox musical of just like Christmas songs? Yeah? So anyone
- 28:40Speaker 1: specific who we should like do the versions of the
- 28:43Speaker 1: Christmas song. I mean, I'm gonna say, hey, Days of
- 28:47Speaker 1: Christmas by Destiny's Child, But that is because oh right,
- 28:51Speaker 1: you were telling me that that's like a really important
- 28:54Speaker 1: Christmas album for you, and like i mean not even
- 28:56Speaker 1: just Christmas album, but like it was very like important
- 28:59Speaker 1: in your development. It really it was one of those
- 29:03Speaker 1: like rare things that like broke my parents you know,
- 29:07Speaker 1: had a lot of cultural walls up, but there were
- 29:10Speaker 1: these you know, rare things that would break through, and
- 29:12Speaker 1: my parents would be like, this is okay. Actually I
- 29:14Speaker 1: think my dad hated Eight Days of Christmas, but my
- 29:17Speaker 1: mom loved it, and so we could listen to that
- 29:19Speaker 1: at home. And Destiny's Child, along with basically like every
- 29:22Speaker 1: other R and B act from that time, deeply deeply
- 29:25Speaker 1: believed in God and talked about it all the time,
- 29:28Speaker 1: um on all of their like red carpet whatevers. And
- 29:30Speaker 1: so my parents were like, oh, they dig with Jesus.
- 29:34Speaker 1: It's called Destiny. I think Destiny's Child is based on
- 29:36Speaker 1: a Bible verse, right, I think I think the actual
- 29:39Speaker 1: name is based on like something that something Jesus related. Um, wait,
- 29:43Speaker 1: is Destiny's Child Jesus? Wait a second, I'm gonna google this.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Destiny's Child. Oh it comes from the Old Testament, the
- 29:51Speaker 1: Book of Idea, the Book of Isaiah. Okay, okay, So
- 29:55Speaker 1: Destiny's Child was like so you were like not really
- 29:59Speaker 1: allowed to us in too secular music. Destiny's Child got
- 30:04Speaker 1: a pass from your parents. Yeah, it got a pass,
- 30:06Speaker 1: and specifically the Christmas album, specifically the Christmas album. It
- 30:10Speaker 1: was the first time I had ever listened to Destiny's
- 30:12Speaker 1: Child or Beyonce period. And then I think, after basically
- 30:17Speaker 1: memorizing this entire album as a child, I was like, hmm,
- 30:20Speaker 1: Destiny's Child pretty cool, Like what else do they got
- 30:23Speaker 1: going on? And then I checked out like Destiny Fulfilled
- 30:25Speaker 1: from the library and like astral Projected, and like, I
- 30:28Speaker 1: mean basically like it kind of like broke the mold
- 30:31Speaker 1: of my childhood and I started listening to honestly a
- 30:34Speaker 1: lot of Beyonce, a lot of Destiny's Child and then um,
- 30:37Speaker 1: other things that kind of broke through the mold. Um.
- 30:41Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't know, I think, to me, I
- 30:44Speaker 1: mean this this album in general, like Eight Days of
- 30:47Speaker 1: Christmas is like so um, I think people don't appreciate
- 30:52Speaker 1: it as much as they should. I feel like I,
- 30:55Speaker 1: I certainly had never listened to it front to back,
- 30:59Speaker 1: but because you said it was so important to you,
- 31:02Speaker 1: I did. And it's a great Christmas album, Um, you
- 31:07Speaker 1: know I did. I was familiar with their version of
- 31:11Speaker 1: Carol on the Bells, which I do think like is
- 31:14Speaker 1: the definitive Carol of the Bells right right right, oh
- 31:18Speaker 1: a k A opera of the bells or rows. It
- 31:21Speaker 1: is like they do really like show off what they
- 31:25Speaker 1: do best in those like harmonic vocals so beautiful. Um.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I also really loved the line in um Platinum Bells
- 31:33Speaker 1: where where they say something like we used to ask
- 31:36Speaker 1: for dolls under the tree and now the dolls are
- 31:39Speaker 1: you and me, And I was like the dolls they
- 31:43Speaker 1: say that, Yeah, oh my god, that's songwriting, honey, that
- 31:47Speaker 1: is songwriting. Not as good as um. I mean, my favorite,
- 31:50Speaker 1: one of my favorite songs is Spread a Little. I
- 31:52Speaker 1: don't know if i'd pick a favorite, but spread a
- 31:53Speaker 1: Little Love is so good because um they say, um
- 31:58Speaker 1: with it don't have been a good time week clowning?
- 32:03Speaker 1: Were they hanging out with Rosy o'donald? I also, what
- 32:06Speaker 1: a weird thing to like drop in a song. Maybe
- 32:09Speaker 1: it just rhymed. Maybe they debuted the song on a
- 32:11Speaker 1: Rosie's show because Rosie Show is huge at the time.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Maybe if you weren't you weren't someone if you weren't
- 32:18Speaker 1: on that's quite a commitment though to put Rosie like
- 32:21Speaker 1: to name drop her on the album, like not just
- 32:24Speaker 1: on her live show or whatever. Um. They also do
- 32:27Speaker 1: give a nice little Hanuka shot out in that song
- 32:29Speaker 1: I appreciated. Um. One thing I thought was interesting was
- 32:33Speaker 1: like on their version of Oh Holy Night, it says
- 32:36Speaker 1: featuring Michelle Williams, which I thought was interesting considering Michelle
- 32:40Speaker 1: Williams is a member of the group. So I guess
- 32:42Speaker 1: like that's the song where she was allowed to sing lead,
- 32:45Speaker 1: but like to not great effect. Um. Like you know
- 32:49Speaker 1: how they talk about when people are wailing on songs
- 32:51Speaker 1: and it's usually in a good context. Um, she was
- 32:54Speaker 1: wailing in a bad way. It did not it did
- 32:58Speaker 1: not sound great. Um it's featuring Michelle Williamson that this
- 33:02Speaker 1: is the only the first and only time they'd let
- 33:04Speaker 1: her sing, and she was it was the one song
- 33:07Speaker 1: where she was the lead vocalist of the group. Um.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Their version of This Christmas is like kind of ravy
- 33:14Speaker 1: because this very interesting production, which I really like. And
- 33:19Speaker 1: when Beyonce says, uh, shake a hand, shake a hand y'all,
- 33:23Speaker 1: it sounds like she's saying shake a hand job, which
- 33:28Speaker 1: SHORE like really broke through to you. Yes, yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I mean, like I remember, just like part I would
- 33:33Speaker 1: like read all the lyrics, like you know on my
- 33:36Speaker 1: fucking you know, first gen like Mac or whatever. I
- 33:41Speaker 1: loved everything about this album. And did you know that
- 33:44Speaker 1: Solange I was like heavily across this album and I
- 33:47Speaker 1: think she wrote cross and you're using like corporate speak.
- 33:52Speaker 1: She was, she was. So I've wrote a lot of
- 33:55Speaker 1: songs for Destiny's Child um and for Beyonce actually um.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But she I guess she arranged their version of Little
- 34:02Speaker 1: Drummer Boy, which is an annoying song objectively, but Solange
- 34:06Speaker 1: made it good. So what other Christmas music do you do?
- 34:10Speaker 1: You love? Uh? I love a lot of sad girl
- 34:14Speaker 1: Christmas like I love I love like Katy Perry's Do
- 34:17Speaker 1: you remember? Okay? Do you remember the Hotel Cafe. The
- 34:21Speaker 1: Hotel Cafe presents like all these like indy girls doing
- 34:24Speaker 1: Christmas songs and it was an album released exclusively at Starbucks.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I don't actually what okay? All of y'all? This is
- 34:31Speaker 1: also very important. Hotel Hotel Cafe presents Winter Songs featuring
- 34:36Speaker 1: the titular Winter Song by Sarah Burrellas and Ingram Michaelson.
- 34:39Speaker 1: You don't you didn't experience this, okay? So on this
- 34:42Speaker 1: album is uh, White Christmas by Katy Perry and she
- 34:45Speaker 1: does a completely zero auto tune just Katy Perry and
- 34:50Speaker 1: like a little just like a little melody, and she
- 34:53Speaker 1: sounds kind of like very flat and very raw, and
- 34:56Speaker 1: it sounds really good, honestly. Well, Katy Perry, you know,
- 34:59Speaker 1: got her start as a Christian singer songwriter when back
- 35:02Speaker 1: when she was back when she was Katherine Hudson. She
- 35:05Speaker 1: used to date the lead singer of Reliant. Kay always
- 35:08Speaker 1: comes back to Reliant to really always does. But Fiona
- 35:11Speaker 1: Apple has a version of Frosted Snowman on this album
- 35:15Speaker 1: as well. It's very good, So you're more into a
- 35:18Speaker 1: um like India acoustic Christmas moment. I love all Christmas
- 35:24Speaker 1: mus Do you like the She and Him Christmas albums?
- 35:28Speaker 1: I do. I like Zoe Dishnell's voice if this was
- 35:32Speaker 1: the same space No, no, no, it is. I I
- 35:35Speaker 1: also album you know that you know the Weepies They
- 35:38Speaker 1: have that song all that I Want? Um. I mean
- 35:42Speaker 1: my Christmas music that I prefer is very poppy. I
- 35:46Speaker 1: think the best Christmas album all time is a Christmas
- 35:50Speaker 1: Gift for you, the Phil Specter produced album that has
- 35:52Speaker 1: like the run Nuts and like Darlene Loves White Christmas
- 35:58Speaker 1: and Baby Please Come Home like that to me as
- 36:01Speaker 1: the Christmas album. It's the one that I want to
- 36:04Speaker 1: listen to. Like the first time of the year that
- 36:06Speaker 1: I listened to Christmas music, I want to listen to that.
- 36:08Speaker 1: The last time of the year I listened to Christmas music,
- 36:11Speaker 1: I want to listen to that. Then it's also I mean,
- 36:14Speaker 1: obviously all I want for Christmas as you. But really
- 36:18Speaker 1: I think for the in the past couple of years,
- 36:20Speaker 1: Kelly Clarkson's Underneath the Tree has become my true Christmas slap.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I think it's an amazing song, I make an amazing album.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I think that she really could be the Queen of
- 36:31Speaker 1: Christmas if we did not have Mariah carry you know
- 36:34Speaker 1: what I mean. I also do like Ariana's Christmas song
- 36:38Speaker 1: Santa tell Me is great Christmas and chills. As a
- 36:41Speaker 1: Boca girl, I love winter things because like that experience
- 36:44Speaker 1: of living somewhere where it's warm during you know, during
- 36:49Speaker 1: the holidays. She's from Florida, right, Yeah, she and I
- 36:52Speaker 1: are from the same part of Florida. Wait, I didn't
- 36:55Speaker 1: know she was also as a Boca girl. No one
- 36:58Speaker 1: of her new makeup line. And if the Shades of
- 37:01Speaker 1: Something is called Boca what? Okay? Wait? Sorry you saying
- 37:05Speaker 1: shades brought me back. I just have to say that, um,
- 37:08Speaker 1: in the eight Days of Christmas, they say, um, on
- 37:10Speaker 1: the eighth day of Christmas, maybe he give to me
- 37:12Speaker 1: a pair of Chloe shades and a diamond belly ring.
- 37:14Speaker 1: And I have thought about that line ever since I
- 37:17Speaker 1: was child, and last Christmas, as a Christmas present to myself,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I did buy a discounted pair of Chlothe shades. On essence,
- 37:26Speaker 1: I love that. I think I've worn those clothe shades.
- 37:29Speaker 1: They weren't really good, They're really they look really good
- 37:33Speaker 1: on me, I end on you. And it is no
- 37:35Speaker 1: exaggeration that I bought them exclusively because of Eight Days
- 37:39Speaker 1: of Christmas and album. I never would have bought them
- 37:42Speaker 1: if if it wasn't for the album. But back to
- 37:44Speaker 1: your question, songs that I like, I mean in recent
- 37:47Speaker 1: I'm not saying these are classics because, in my opinion,
- 37:50Speaker 1: and we disagree on this, no one has created a
- 37:53Speaker 1: Christmas a true Christmas classics since all the went for Christmas.
- 37:57Speaker 1: You I didn't say that. I didn't agree, Okay, Um,
- 38:00Speaker 1: I just I couldn't think of Yeah, I can't think
- 38:04Speaker 1: of what you argue that maybe underneath the Tree transcended.
- 38:08Speaker 1: But but it's a it hasn't. It hasn't permeated pop
- 38:12Speaker 1: culture the way where I has. Like I understand what
- 38:14Speaker 1: you mean is that like all I Want for Christmas
- 38:17Speaker 1: as You is the Christmas song like, and it has
- 38:23Speaker 1: only grown in popularity since it was released, and it
- 38:26Speaker 1: is now I think up there with Winter Wonderland chick
- 38:31Speaker 1: like it is one of the songs, and it is
- 38:34Speaker 1: maybe the song. Yes, classics are honestly far and few between.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Before that, it was like what last Christmas by Wham
- 38:41Speaker 1: maybe in the eighties, like people aren't just aren't cranking
- 38:44Speaker 1: out classics or or Lady Gaga's Christmas Tree one of
- 38:51Speaker 1: the worst songs she's ever written, but you know, still
- 38:54Speaker 1: still slaps. Should we do a live reading of Christmas
- 38:58Speaker 1: Tree by by Lady Gaga? I live reading reading lyrics? Yeah,
- 39:02Speaker 1: I mean if people are not familiar with the song,
- 39:05Speaker 1: I mean they should. They could also just go listen
- 39:07Speaker 1: to it right now. The only place you want to
- 39:09Speaker 1: be is underneath my Christmas Tree. Light me up, put
- 39:12Speaker 1: me on top. Let's fa la la la la la
- 39:14Speaker 1: la la la. Okay, So obviously Christmas music, you know,
- 39:35Speaker 1: like sound tracks, another huge part of Christmas for me because,
- 39:40Speaker 1: as you know, religious Christmas was the thing for you
- 39:44Speaker 1: as as a Jewish girl growing up in book ratone,
- 39:47Speaker 1: I didn't get to participate in any of that. And
- 39:50Speaker 1: the only part of Christmas I got to have a
- 39:52Speaker 1: part of was secular Christmas and like capitalistic right Christmas,
- 39:59Speaker 1: but which I loved, Like I loved Christmas music and
- 40:02Speaker 1: I loved Christmas movie. Was it like frowned upon too?
- 40:06Speaker 1: It wasn't in your family, like it wasn't frowned upon
- 40:08Speaker 1: to like do Christmas things wasn't. No, But it's just
- 40:10Speaker 1: we didn't do it because we were Jewish. Um, but
- 40:13Speaker 1: I loved Christmas movies. I loved Love actually obviously Family Stone. Yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 1: I did like it when it came out. I haven't
- 40:23Speaker 1: watched it in a while, so maybe i'll need to
- 40:26Speaker 1: watch it this year. Rewatch it when when you when
- 40:28Speaker 1: we also rewatched The Holiday, we'll watch the Well The Holiday,
- 40:31Speaker 1: I think is my favorite Chris like contemporary Christmas movie.
- 40:36Speaker 1: And um, okay, So earlier this year, it was really
- 40:40Speaker 1: windy in l A. And I was on the phone
- 40:43Speaker 1: with my mom. She was like, oh, what's the weather,
- 40:44Speaker 1: Like she always asked me that, and I'm always like,
- 40:46Speaker 1: it's the same every day, Mom, I live in Los Angeles. Um,
- 40:50Speaker 1: but it happened to be very windy that day and
- 40:51Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, it's like really weirdly windy.
- 40:54Speaker 1: And she was like, oh must be, Um, I've heard
- 40:56Speaker 1: of this thing, the Santa Anna Winds And I said, yes, Mom,
- 40:59Speaker 1: I've seen the Holiday too, and she lost it because,
- 41:05Speaker 1: like I clucked her so hard because I knew, because
- 41:09Speaker 1: I knew that that's that is the absolute only way
- 41:12Speaker 1: she knew about the Santa Anna wins because my mom.
- 41:16Speaker 1: If there's one thing my mom's gonna do, it's watch
- 41:19Speaker 1: whatever E is playing. And during the Christmas season, they
- 41:25Speaker 1: played The Holiday like at least twice a day, three days,
- 41:28Speaker 1: cycling through Nancy Myers films until they get to Christmas,
- 41:31Speaker 1: and my and my mom will watch The Holiday like
- 41:33Speaker 1: in the middle of the summer, like one of the
- 41:36Speaker 1: favorite movies that used to be. I used to watch
- 41:38Speaker 1: it so many times a year. That was definitely a
- 41:40Speaker 1: favorite for me. It's still good. It's so good. I mean,
- 41:44Speaker 1: I don't know, I know it it is. Really it
- 41:46Speaker 1: really sucks that Kate Winslet ends up with Jack Black.
- 41:51Speaker 1: It's disarming, it's Cameron dis gets Drew Law. But that
- 41:53Speaker 1: was a part of it. That was I think. I think,
- 41:55Speaker 1: honestly they should have just like done an incest and
- 41:58Speaker 1: Kate and Cameron should have ship. That would have been
- 42:01Speaker 1: really hot. Jude Law, not just Jude Law, but Jude
- 42:03Speaker 1: Law wearing glasses. Oh my goodness. That really did it.
- 42:07Speaker 1: And you know, it makes sense at the end of
- 42:09Speaker 1: the movie. Makes sense because Cameron Diaz does have big
- 42:11Speaker 1: stepmother energy. She does, and so do I. Honestly, I
- 42:15Speaker 1: can't I can't wait to be someone's stepmom someday stepmom.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Also a Christmas movie I've never seen it? Is that
- 42:22Speaker 1: the one with Um with Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I've never seen that. I thought you met Um. What's
- 42:29Speaker 1: the one where Julia Roberts wears the bob Oh Mother's Day?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Muster's Day another seasonal film? Oh my god, but not
- 42:39Speaker 1: quite what we are talking about. She's wearing this fucking
- 42:43Speaker 1: but who did that to her? Okay? But I love
- 42:47Speaker 1: the family, STONE love the holiday. In my family, we
- 42:49Speaker 1: were like a tim Allen family, and so we loved
- 42:52Speaker 1: the Santa Claus. My family obviously loved Home Improvement. Tim Allen,
- 42:55Speaker 1: famously a Republican um talking about how it's really hard
- 42:59Speaker 1: to be a report bligan in Hollywood. Um, yeah, not
- 43:03Speaker 1: Santa Claus, isn't it for me? But really no? But
- 43:06Speaker 1: Dr seuses The Grinch who Still Christmas starring Jim Carey.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I think one of the best films of the last
- 43:13Speaker 1: twenty five years. Of course, well the moment when Christine
- 43:16Speaker 1: Brancy comes out in her like ninety robe and she's
- 43:18Speaker 1: like hello, no, no, no no, she says, here's what she says.
- 43:21Speaker 1: She goes Betty Hi just oozing sexual energy. Like, how
- 43:31Speaker 1: did the movie's rating not get changed to an R
- 43:34Speaker 1: because of Christine Bransky with her tits out like that out?
- 43:38Speaker 1: And there's isn't there a moment where someone at like
- 43:40Speaker 1: accidentally smushes their face and like her tits. Oh my god,
- 43:45Speaker 1: that's crazy. That was like a whole that's like a
- 43:47Speaker 1: punchling that exists across like all of the wrong comes
- 43:49Speaker 1: of the air, like someone accidentally falling into someone's cleavage.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Betty Hi and Molly Shannon and that movie Taylor Momson
- 43:59Speaker 1: who would go into Snap and Gossip Girl and as
- 44:02Speaker 1: the lead singer of the pretty reckless. She's in gossip Girl. Yeah,
- 44:06Speaker 1: she's Jenny Humphrey, Little j I've never seen, You've never
- 44:09Speaker 1: seen there, gonna do it well. Also, gossip Girl has
- 44:12Speaker 1: some great holiday episodes, my favorite. Well, I mean, I've
- 44:16Speaker 1: really only watched the first three seasons of the original
- 44:20Speaker 1: Gossip Girl, and the first season has an amazing Christmas episode. Really, okay,
- 44:25Speaker 1: we'll watch the first season together. We'll get it there. Um,
- 44:28Speaker 1: I did the Grin? How the Grins Christmas? Jim Carrey's
- 44:31Speaker 1: Grinch did that precede Elf with Will Ferrell? I remember? Okay, Okay,
- 44:36Speaker 1: So then to me, maybe Elf is like the most
- 44:39Speaker 1: recent Christmas classic added to the Cannon, because I would say,
- 44:42Speaker 1: even though it's kind of a bro comedy, like Elf
- 44:45Speaker 1: is like Cannon. Now maybe Yeah, I it's not really
- 44:49Speaker 1: the movie for me, although, is that kind of what
- 44:51Speaker 1: gave us Zoe Deschanelle. Yeah, it was her breakout and
- 44:54Speaker 1: she's blond in it, Yeah, famously weird, she looks crazy
- 45:00Speaker 1: and she sings, Yeah, she sings. And then there's this
- 45:03Speaker 1: movie that came out recently called Last Christmas starring Henry
- 45:06Speaker 1: Golding and the Game of Thrones. Girl, Oh my god,
- 45:08Speaker 1: I borrows so many tropes from ELF, like I think
- 45:11Speaker 1: she sings too, and like, okay, so Last Christmas I
- 45:17Speaker 1: saw like a press screening of it, and and um,
- 45:21Speaker 1: the moment where you find out that at the end
- 45:25Speaker 1: spoiler spoiler that okay, So the whole movie is about
- 45:29Speaker 1: how Henry Golding is like in love with Kalisi from
- 45:33Speaker 1: Game With and Klisi is like this like grumpy shop
- 45:36Speaker 1: girl who hates Christmas kind of and and he's a
- 45:40Speaker 1: ghost as you find out, And then you find out
- 45:42Speaker 1: at the end that he died the year before and
- 45:46Speaker 1: Amilia Clark had like a heart disease and she got
- 45:51Speaker 1: his heart. So it literally the premise of the movie
- 45:55Speaker 1: is is Wayam's Last Christmas where they say last Christmas,
- 45:59Speaker 1: I gave of you my heart. It does. But also
- 46:03Speaker 1: when that twist was revealed in the movie, but I
- 46:07Speaker 1: gasped and then cackled, Rose, that is so dumb. But
- 46:12Speaker 1: I did, But I didn't see it coming. Did you
- 46:14Speaker 1: see it coming? I knew that he was a ghost immediately,
- 46:17Speaker 1: but you didn't. But you never thought that they would
- 46:20Speaker 1: be dumb enough to actually make that the lyrical. The
- 46:26Speaker 1: lyrical inspired twist is next level twisting of like idiot
- 46:31Speaker 1: culture like that. But but to me, I knew he was.
- 46:35Speaker 1: He wasn't interacting with anything, and like the first thing,
- 46:37Speaker 1: I was like, well, that's a ghost. My favorite part
- 46:39Speaker 1: in the song Last Christmas is in the second verse
- 46:42Speaker 1: when George goes Christmas wrapped it up and said, a
- 46:46Speaker 1: song is so beautiful. Carlyway Jeffson's rendition of Last Christmas,
- 46:50Speaker 1: as well as Taylor Swift's rendition of Class Christmas both
- 46:53Speaker 1: very good. I really like Taylor's Christmas song, which only
- 46:56Speaker 1: came out two years ago, Christmas Tree Farm, but she
- 46:58Speaker 1: released a different version of it this year because I
- 47:02Speaker 1: didn't see that. It's kind of like an old timey version,
- 47:05Speaker 1: and it's like it's weird because like, obviously she's doing
- 47:08Speaker 1: all these re recordings, but this song she owns the
- 47:11Speaker 1: the you know, she owns it. I didn't know that.
- 47:13Speaker 1: But she's still made another version of it because she's
- 47:16Speaker 1: just on a roll. I guess I didn't know that.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Literally the other day I was like, you know what,
- 47:19Speaker 1: Taylor really needs to be cranking out some Christmas classics here,
- 47:23Speaker 1: like she really, but she has um she only has one,
- 47:27Speaker 1: you know, like canonical Christmas song. But she has a
- 47:31Speaker 1: couple of songs like Tis the Damn Season, which are
- 47:34Speaker 1: Christmas well. But the thing is she she needs to
- 47:37Speaker 1: crank some more out our Phoebe Bridges is going to
- 47:39Speaker 1: laugh her because a few Taylor is not gonna be
- 47:44Speaker 1: lapped by anyone. I'm being facetious. I'm trying to Taylor
- 47:48Speaker 1: will do a Christmas album. Actually, oh my god, I
- 47:51Speaker 1: would lose my mind. Maybe when she's a little older. Oh,
- 47:55Speaker 1: I forgot about Taylor's New Year's Day. Yes, that's a holiday.
- 47:58Speaker 1: It's a holiday song. Holidays not one of my favorites
- 48:02Speaker 1: from reputation, but I do love I do love reputation.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I don't love reputation, but I do love that song.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Um yeah, I mean the She and Him Christmas. Casey
- 48:11Speaker 1: Kasey Musgraves has like two Christmas albums. I actually I'm
- 48:15Speaker 1: not a choice on stand but Glittery with It's a
- 48:22Speaker 1: really good song. It's a great it's cute. Okay, fine,
- 48:25Speaker 1: you can understell it. That's fine, that's fine. The War
- 48:31Speaker 1: on Christmas was like, maybe not my family wasn't so
- 48:36Speaker 1: Bible thumpy that they were on the kind of like
- 48:39Speaker 1: Megan Kelly level. We're on Christmas conversation, but things like that,
- 48:45Speaker 1: like we're a part of Like I mean, why I
- 48:48Speaker 1: don't know there was like such a clash between like
- 48:51Speaker 1: secular Christmas and Christian Christmas, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 48:55Speaker 1: I guess I'd like never really understood any of that
- 49:00Speaker 1: because I grew up with Hanukkah as the winter holiday,
- 49:05Speaker 1: and like I mean, like I'm already such a My
- 49:10Speaker 1: family is such a were My family were reformed Jews,
- 49:14Speaker 1: so like already we are like very separate from the
- 49:18Speaker 1: religiosity of Hanukkah. And Hanika is not one of the
- 49:23Speaker 1: big Jewish holidays, like it only really has been beefed
- 49:27Speaker 1: up so that Jews have something comparable to Christmas around
- 49:31Speaker 1: the winter. Are there any Hanukah bops? Um? I mean
- 49:35Speaker 1: there's Adam Sandler's Hanakah songs like that. That's it. Um. Yeah,
- 49:41Speaker 1: Nica is just like Hanaka is just not a big deal.
- 49:44Speaker 1: And also I think it makes it difficult that, Um,
- 49:46Speaker 1: the Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar, so Hanukah is
- 49:49Speaker 1: different every year. So this year Hanuka Honica starts today,
- 49:53Speaker 1: which is the Sunday after day recording. Well, that's crazy.
- 49:57Speaker 1: I like the years where it coincide it's with Christmas,
- 50:00Speaker 1: but also like it doesn't matter because Hankah is not.
- 50:05Speaker 1: It's not it like my favorite Jewish holidays Passover and
- 50:09Speaker 1: and Passover is like probably one of our most important
- 50:12Speaker 1: holidays and of the Prince of Egypt and it's impact
- 50:16Speaker 1: on that. We do both love the Prince of Egypt.
- 50:19Speaker 1: That was like a huge again, one of those things
- 50:21Speaker 1: that like bridges the mainstream and like you know where
- 50:26Speaker 1: I was at the time. But they were all so
- 50:28Speaker 1: hot and they had big titties. You know. My family
- 50:30Speaker 1: we would watch it as a family, as like a
- 50:33Speaker 1: group activity, and we'd be like, oh my god, this
- 50:35Speaker 1: is such a beautiful retelling of a Bible story. And
- 50:37Speaker 1: I was just like horn neat because like Joseph and
- 50:42Speaker 1: like all these other girls have like, you know, big titties.
- 50:44Speaker 1: They never skipped cheste they all look incredible. And isn't
- 50:49Speaker 1: the casting for this Wait I need Michelle Pfiffer's in it,
- 50:52Speaker 1: Sandra Bullock, Val Kilmer, Yes, wait wait, it's like an
- 50:56Speaker 1: insane like list of people like Martin or yeah, Martin short,
- 51:02Speaker 1: Ralph Finds and Jeff Goldbloom, Danny Glover, Patrick Stewart, Steve Martin,
- 51:09Speaker 1: and Helen Mirren. Wait, who got all these Not only
- 51:13Speaker 1: did they get all these people, but they also got
- 51:16Speaker 1: Mariah and Whitney to record their first and only duet
- 51:19Speaker 1: slash performance together. I wish they'd done a Christmas song. Yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 1: it's actually a shame that. I mean, Whitney does have
- 51:27Speaker 1: a really beautiful Christmas album, but I don't think this
- 51:31Speaker 1: is such slender. I don't know if Whitney had a
- 51:33Speaker 1: song that really popped through Christmas culture the way Sonny
- 51:38Speaker 1: Maria is dead. Not to pick them against each other,
- 51:41Speaker 1: but I just did Ye. Did you get Christmas presents
- 52:05Speaker 1: going up? Even though you celebrated? I got there, I
- 52:08Speaker 1: got Hanakah presents. Um. What I think like the holiday
- 52:13Speaker 1: gifts for me were always demystified because I always like
- 52:17Speaker 1: asked for something very specific and got it, so there
- 52:21Speaker 1: was no like element of surprise. Um. And to this day,
- 52:26Speaker 1: I'm just bad at gift giving. I try, I really,
- 52:31Speaker 1: I really love to give people things, and I love
- 52:36Speaker 1: to give people things that they want, but it's really
- 52:38Speaker 1: hard for me to figure out what that is. So
- 52:42Speaker 1: I have been actively trying to learn into it, and
- 52:45Speaker 1: like I try, I keep a running list of gift ideas,
- 52:49Speaker 1: both like things that are like specific to people and
- 52:53Speaker 1: what they will want, and also just like general things
- 52:56Speaker 1: that I think will make good gifts for the people
- 52:58Speaker 1: that I want to give gifts to. Sometimes inspiration does
- 53:01Speaker 1: strike me and I'll like, know what to get someone
- 53:04Speaker 1: Like for your last birthday, I got you about to
- 53:07Speaker 1: project her and that's something that I had like thought
- 53:10Speaker 1: of months before, and it was like, oh, that's the
- 53:11Speaker 1: perfect gift for France, right, But it's you know, I
- 53:14Speaker 1: hold space for that you are a product of your upbringing,
- 53:16Speaker 1: that's in your fault. They're they're really two kinds of
- 53:19Speaker 1: households when it comes to the gifting process. And there
- 53:22Speaker 1: are households where it's like, here is the list, I
- 53:25Speaker 1: this is what I will expect you to deliver on
- 53:28Speaker 1: these exact gifts because around my list where you just
- 53:31Speaker 1: get a gift card or whatever. And then there are
- 53:34Speaker 1: the families like mine that are like, we need the
- 53:36Speaker 1: surprise and delight and the element of surprise, and yeah,
- 53:40Speaker 1: at a certain point, my my mom just started giving
- 53:43Speaker 1: me money to buy myself something I wanted. Um, I
- 53:48Speaker 1: think actually so antithetic. Actually today actually today if she
- 53:52Speaker 1: I like sent her an essence link to a bag
- 53:56Speaker 1: I wanted and she was like, Okay, I'm gonna send
- 53:57Speaker 1: you money so you can buy no blasphemous. Okay, listen,
- 54:02Speaker 1: but but I need p s A. If you are
- 54:05Speaker 1: a parent, please bestow the true meaning of Christmas, which
- 54:10Speaker 1: is surprising gifts, Gifts that that transcend what they thought
- 54:15Speaker 1: they wanted from Christmas, like they didn't even know they
- 54:19Speaker 1: needed the thing that you are giving them. That is
- 54:21Speaker 1: what it means to give a good Christmas present. That
- 54:24Speaker 1: is a true meaning of Christmas. Um, friend, you are
- 54:26Speaker 1: an amazing gift giver. And last Christmas you gave me
- 54:31Speaker 1: the most. Last Christmas, you gave last Christmas, you gave
- 54:34Speaker 1: me your heart, your heart, my heart as no, but
- 54:37Speaker 1: last Christmas you gave did give me a weapon, which
- 54:39Speaker 1: is the best Christmas gift I've ever received. As I
- 54:42Speaker 1: got you a taser, you got me a taser which
- 54:44Speaker 1: I immediately tried to use on both you and myself.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I have video footage, yes, um yeah, maybe virgins, we
- 54:50Speaker 1: will post the footage. Maybe it was a pink taser,
- 54:55Speaker 1: It was a girl Boss tailor and and virgins. Let
- 54:57Speaker 1: us know what are some of like the Christmas gifts
- 55:00Speaker 1: or holiday gifts that you've gotten that have stuck with you, like,
- 55:04Speaker 1: or if you have any weird rituals around gifts like
- 55:07Speaker 1: my action for you're rewrapping. Um, if you've ever gotten
- 55:11Speaker 1: a weapon, I would love to know. I did apparently
- 55:13Speaker 1: find out. Okay, So over Thanksgiving, my sister in law's parents,
- 55:19Speaker 1: my sister in law's mom was telling me about these
- 55:22Speaker 1: superstitions that their family has, which is, um, you can't
- 55:27Speaker 1: give people anything sharp as a gift because it's bad luck.
- 55:32Speaker 1: So you like, I've never heard that before, So like
- 55:34Speaker 1: you could never, um give someone like a knife set
- 55:38Speaker 1: as a gift, And to me, a set of knives
- 55:41Speaker 1: is like the best thing I could get. You heard that,
- 55:44Speaker 1: and you went to all the presents you bought for
- 55:46Speaker 1: people this year, and it's just it's just it's just
- 55:49Speaker 1: loosen it's just loose knives. Yeah, it's a it's a
- 55:54Speaker 1: tote bag full of loose knives. Blades yeah, yeah, candy
- 55:58Speaker 1: and razor blades. Um, I mean I should maybe I Well,
- 56:02Speaker 1: that just gave me an idea of your Christmas present
- 56:04Speaker 1: this year. I would love to know, Fran, what is
- 56:07Speaker 1: on your Christmas list this year? You know, Rose, the
- 56:12Speaker 1: only thing on my list this year is unconditional love
- 56:17Speaker 1: from you. Well you have that for me? Oh do
- 56:19Speaker 1: I really? Rose? Thank you. That's the true spirit of Christmas.
- 56:23Speaker 1: You were one of the few people who I love
- 56:25Speaker 1: unconditionally for now. That's so very so. I guess it
- 56:29Speaker 1: is so. I guess it is conditional love because it's
- 56:31Speaker 1: unconditional for now. This is you, you descending the staircase
- 56:37Speaker 1: as Taylor Momson singing where are You Christmas? To me personally,
- 56:41Speaker 1: Oh my god, Faith Hills version of Where Are You Christmas?
- 56:45Speaker 1: Which the music videos on the DVD, and I have
- 56:49Speaker 1: watched that ship so many times. I already got one
- 56:52Speaker 1: of your presence. I'm very excited about it. You're getting
- 56:55Speaker 1: me something. Oh my god, I did not expect that.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Shut up, Shut up. A there's like, you know, some
- 57:01Speaker 1: clothes I want. There a lot of times I like
- 57:04Speaker 1: things that I wouldn't buy for myself. But um, that
- 57:07Speaker 1: is I think the essence of buying a Christmas gift.
- 57:10Speaker 1: It should be something that you know the other person
- 57:13Speaker 1: will like, something that they will actually use, and something
- 57:18Speaker 1: they wouldn't buy for themselves and the layer that I
- 57:21Speaker 1: put onto those prerequisites, which I think that is a
- 57:24Speaker 1: very good Like you know, I think like a list
- 57:27Speaker 1: of things that you need on Christmas gift is something
- 57:29Speaker 1: that they maybe would not expect. I think it's it's
- 57:32Speaker 1: good if you can evade like what they think their
- 57:35Speaker 1: gift is going to be. I mean, the worst gifts
- 57:37Speaker 1: to get are things that they're they don't want, aren't
- 57:41Speaker 1: going to use. Um, like you know, getting someone like, um,
- 57:46Speaker 1: you know, a gross candle. I mean, candles are great gifts,
- 57:50Speaker 1: but getting them like well, actually I'll take any candle.
- 57:53Speaker 1: I'll take literally any candle, but I already have way
- 57:55Speaker 1: too many candles. Please don't get me, you know, like
- 57:57Speaker 1: don't get don't get people gift cards, even though I
- 58:00Speaker 1: will probably get my whole family gift cards is the
- 58:02Speaker 1: worst gifts. Um. I will get things sent to my
- 58:05Speaker 1: parents house and it will say this is friends do
- 58:07Speaker 1: not open like on that that's like what I fill
- 58:10Speaker 1: out on the like address line. It says like franz
- 58:12Speaker 1: do not open and they know that those are gifts. Um.
- 58:15Speaker 1: My mom like brought up something that I had hadn't
- 58:17Speaker 1: thought about, which is I have a nephew who just
- 58:20Speaker 1: turned to year old, and now we have someone in
- 58:23Speaker 1: the family that we can do one present night for again,
- 58:26Speaker 1: like that is the Yeah, that is I know, but
- 58:30Speaker 1: it's like it's not about that. It's about like the experience.
- 58:34Speaker 1: And and um, if I had kids, I wouldn't get
- 58:36Speaker 1: them presents or they have like cognitive you know memory,
- 58:40Speaker 1: Like that is the one nice part of being a
- 58:42Speaker 1: kid during Hanukah is getting one president night for eight
- 58:45Speaker 1: nights beautiful. Um, do you ever have like a bomb
- 58:48Speaker 1: asked Hanka present on the eighth night or one of
- 58:51Speaker 1: the nights where like I cannot believe I got this
- 58:54Speaker 1: because for me it was maybe and sixty four and
- 58:57Speaker 1: the harvest the game of Harvestman that they bought for me. Yeah, me,
- 59:00Speaker 1: And I think like no, no, no, wow. Maybe I'm
- 59:05Speaker 1: gonna have to get you a Hanako present this year
- 59:07Speaker 1: that'll blow your blow your tits off. I don't know.
- 59:12Speaker 1: I would actually if you blew my tits off, I
- 59:14Speaker 1: would like a new pair of tips. No. Oh, that
- 59:16Speaker 1: is actually a great present is if someone got me
- 59:19Speaker 1: just just a little baby rhino plows? Yeah, no, if
- 59:22Speaker 1: what I would love for Okay, here's what I want
- 59:25Speaker 1: for Christmas. I want you to kidnap me, put me
- 59:28Speaker 1: under anesthesia, get me breast implants of facial feminization surgery
- 59:35Speaker 1: UM and an orchiactomy, and I want to wake up
- 59:38Speaker 1: two weeks later like most of the way healed. That
- 59:42Speaker 1: is okay. I want my bill Faro pastic plasty. That's
- 59:45Speaker 1: when you get you make your face more symmetrical. I
- 59:48Speaker 1: guess as I've googled this, this all sounds great. I'm
- 59:52Speaker 1: very in the how would that that be gifted to you?
- 59:54Speaker 1: I guess that through the kidnapping. It would be kidnapping
- 59:57Speaker 1: and you would pay for it, and I would pay.
- 59:59Speaker 1: You would front the hoss. Yeah, we can't use your
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: insurance or out of pocket. Out of pocket yeah yeah,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I know. No copas baby UM. A good Christmas gift
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: I usually the past couple of years have gotten for
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: myself is fillers and botox. If you got me a
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: half of vial for Christmas, that would be an excellent present.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: That is a good present. How much is half a vial?
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Even for not It's you have to pay per syringe,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: right right? Per synge tho surrenge is like what a syringe?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: The place I goes four. D Oh, that's not bad. Yeah, okay,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I have to do um what else? What else do
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I usually like get myself for the holidays? I did Um.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I think the gift I'm going to give myself this
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: year is I might finally block the guy that I
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: went on one date with a couple of years ago,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: who now replies to every single one of my Instagram
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: stories that is um the worst, the worst genre, either
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: with like the fire emoji or like if I'm like
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: at a restaurant or something, he's like, why are you
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: there without me? Like we went on one date. I
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: had one date three years ago. One stop it. I
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: had a horrible, horrible date with an extremely we didn't
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: even hook up. Wait really you make out? No? What? Yeah?
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: You really? You really made an impact on this guy?
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I did, But that's that's he didn't shoot his shot
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: and that's not my fault. And I don't know why
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: he's I don't know why he's now like forced this
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: like uh, synthetic digital intimacy on me. But I think
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: it's because you have like, you know, reversed intimacy subtiles,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: reversed intimacy styles, because like in your head, if you
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: don't have sex on the first day or interaction. It's
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: basically like it's like I don't even you know, it's
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: you don't have anything to do with it. I feel sometimes, yeah,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I think that's what happened in this case. As we're like, oh,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: you're trying to make things now, it's like there we go,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: um because like you know, we didn't even like we
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: didn't even kiss, but you were you weren't just you
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: just weren't into it. Um No, I was. He just
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: didn't shoot his shot, right, Yeah, I I need guys
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: to play offense. I can relate to that. I mean, no,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: I'm I'm fine like being the aggressor. But I remember
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: he like I think he maybe had an early flight
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: the next day, and like that's why he didn't try anything.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: And then he like moved right after that, and then
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I moved in the pandemic. But like, none of this
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: even matters. But why, like it's just I'm now spending
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: more energy on this than even deserves. I went on
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: one terrible date with a very hot MSUs, a very dumb,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: very hot massus. One of the worst dates I've ever
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: been on for so many different reasons. He and then
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: he ghost me like I even tried to hang out,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: like I have a follow up to this very bad
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: day because he was so hot, because I'm pathetic and
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I don't like myself. We we never, you know, meet
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: up again months later, months and months later, he replies
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: to one of my Instagram stories where I'm watching drag
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: race and he says, can I borrow your paramount plus password?
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: And I was like the audacity of this man? That's crazy,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: that is this is the genre of person we're talking about. UM.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: One gift. A good thing to gift yourself is Christmas
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: sex with someone. I've never had to Christmas sex. I don't.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I don't think i've never nor have I gifted that
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: to myself. What is that? Just? You go on Grinder
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: and you you kind of yeah, you're just like make
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: it happen. You set it up for Christmas. I don't
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: do that. I I like someone to set it up
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: with me. I don't. I don't like being the person
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: that has to. But no one ever approaches me. My
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: mom says, it's because I'm intimidating. You are intimidating, but like,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you don't, you don't, you don't think you are, but
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: you are no, no, no, not in like a grinder's days.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: I think in any spaces really wow, I would never Well,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: the virgins canna design for us in the comments is
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: for un intimidating or not let us know. Do you
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: think I'm I think I am intimidating. Everyone knows you're
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: extremely instating. Well, we talked a lot today about Christmas movies,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: and next week we're going to be talking about something
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: that is technically a Christmas movie, but I but I
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: don't think people really think of it as one because
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: it mostly just takes place during the Christmas season. Very incidentally,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: but next week, our last episode of the year, we
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: will be talking about Moonstruck, which is an extremely important
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: film for both of us. So all y'all better to
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: do your homework, okay for count Yea, So please stay
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: tuned watch Moonstruck get a Makeover if you have a chail,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: of course, and you know this week we did we
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: had some potentially contentious takes about like smith classics in
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: the movie and music space. So if you feel a
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: type of way about why a certain movie or like
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: an album or something belongs in the cannon, I actually
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: would really like to know from you. Also, as always,
