- 0:00Welcome back to Fostering Faith. I am Tracy and
- 0:03I will be your host this week. I'm so glad that
- 0:05you tuned in. If you are new to Fostering Faith,
- 0:07welcome. And we are walking in our faith journey
- 0:11together. We don't have it all together. We are
- 0:12not perfect, but we are doing this together.
- 0:15And if you are a return listener, welcome back
- 0:17home. And in this episode will be our last episode
- 0:20of our Faith in Action May. And so what it means
- 0:24to be the hands and feet of Christ. These are
- 0:27phrases that Christians say a lot of times, I
- 0:30want to be the hands of the feet of Jesus. That
- 0:33sounds beautiful. That sounds spiritual and it
- 0:35sounds inspiring. But what do we actually mean
- 0:39by that? What is it? Do we actually understand
- 0:41what it means? It means more than volunteering,
- 0:45more than being nice, more than occasional giving,
- 0:49more than helping out, more than attending church.
- 0:53Being the hands of feet of Jesus means You show
- 0:56up or God would show up. You love the way that
- 1:01God would love. You serve the way that Jesus
- 1:04would serve. You speak the way that Jesus would
- 1:07speak. You move towards people the way that Jesus
- 1:11would. You notice people the way that Jesus would.
- 1:15You touch the needs like Jesus would. You sacrifice
- 1:20comfort the way that Jesus did. And that isn't
- 1:24theological. This is the whole assignment of
- 1:26your life. Jesus didn't save you so you could
- 1:29sit. He saved you so you can move. Hands and
- 1:32feet are not decorative. They are functional.
- 1:35They do something. They go someplace. They carry
- 1:37something. They release something. And this week
- 1:39is about embracing your calling to be a living,
- 1:43breathing expression of Jesus here on earth.
- 1:48And so Jesus' hands and feet were always moving
- 1:50toward a need. Jesus never insulated himself.
- 1:55He never hid from Moroccan people. He didn't
- 1:57stay in a comfortable circle. He didn't elevate
- 2:00himself above others. He didn't wait for people
- 2:02to come to him. He went to them. And look at
- 2:06Scripture. Who did he go to? He went to the sick,
- 2:09the sinners, the poor, the hurting, the demon
- 2:12possessed, overlooked, rejected, lonely, desperate,
- 2:16and hungry. Jesus was always moving towards the
- 2:20need, never away from it. If we were His hands
- 2:24and feet, then our lives must look the same.
- 2:30And so the hands of Jesus do three things. The
- 2:34hands that heal. Jesus touched the leopards,
- 2:38the children, the blind, the broken, the grieving.
- 2:42Healing isn't always physical. Sometimes it's
- 2:45emotional, relational, or spiritual. Your hands
- 2:49can heal too. A hug. a meal, a note, a prayer,
- 2:56a gentle touch, an encouraging word. Healing
- 2:59flows through simple obedience. And so I actually
- 3:06prayed for that. I wanted to be a healer. I just
- 3:08wanted to, oh, your diabetes is gone. Oh, your
- 3:09hypertension is gone. Oh, your cancer is gone.
- 3:12And he said, I don't need that. I need spiritual
- 3:14healing from you. And so he's not, everybody
- 3:17has a physical ailment, but everyone has a spirit.
- 3:20And so that was several years ago and it was
- 3:24so encouraging to know that to be used by God
- 3:29really is the best thing. And two, hands that
- 3:32lift. Jesus lifted people out of shame, fear,
- 3:37sin, confusion, hopelessness, isolation. You
- 3:43lift people every time that you speak truth.
- 3:45Offer encouragement. Remind someone who they
- 3:48are in Christ. Stand where someone in the hard
- 3:52season and bring hope whenever it's despair.
- 3:55Whenever you defend someone who feels attacked,
- 3:58your hands lift burdens that no one can see.
- 4:02And three, hands that give. Jesus gave time,
- 4:06compassion, attention, presence, miracles, teachings,
- 4:10forgiveness in himself. Generous hands reflect
- 4:14a generous savior. And when your hand gives,
- 4:18Heaven touches earth. In the feet of Jesus, do
- 4:23three things. Feet that go. Jesus didn't wait
- 4:27for the crowds. He pursued them. Missional feet
- 4:30walk into messy places. Awkward conversations.
- 4:34Uncomfortable environments. Hurting homes. Hard
- 4:37relationships. Spiritual battles. Opportunities
- 4:40that God highlights. Your feet carry the gospel
- 4:44wherever you're already going. And so feet that
- 4:49follow. Jesus followed his Father's voice, not
- 4:52convenience. Feet that follow. Obedience quickly,
- 4:57trustfully, move when the Spirit moves, and stay
- 5:02when the Spirit says stay, and walk by faith
- 5:05and not by sight. Obedience is the movement of
- 5:09your feet towards God's assignment. And feet
- 5:13that stand. Sometimes being the feet of Jesus
- 5:16doesn't mean moving. It means holding your ground.
- 5:21Feet stand. When culture pushes, when lies swirl,
- 5:27when storms hit, and when challenges arise, when
- 5:30disagreement whispers, standing is as much obedience
- 5:35as going. Being the hands of feet means that
- 5:38you carry Jesus into every space. You don't wait
- 5:41for church service or to be a minister. Your
- 5:44life is ministry. You bring Jesus into that,
- 5:47into your workplace, your school, your friendships,
- 5:50your marriage, your parenting, your team, your
- 5:52gym, your grocery store, your social media, your
- 5:56community. Every environment is an opportunity
- 5:59for kingdom impact. You're not just a teacher
- 6:03or a nurse or a student, a mom, an employee,
- 6:07anything. You are a representative of Jesus Christ.
- 6:11You are an ambassador of Christ. You are a co
- 6:14-worker. with Christ. And where you walk, He
- 6:18walks. Who you touch, He touches. And what you
- 6:22say, He can use. And how you love reveals His
- 6:27heart. And so what does it practically look like
- 6:31to be the hands and feet of Jesus? Your hands
- 6:35and feet look like noticing a lonely kid, praying
- 6:39for someone on the spot, buying coffee for a
- 6:43stranger. sending an encouraging text message,
- 6:46picking up groceries for a struggling family,
- 6:48showing up early for church, serving without
- 6:51being asked, supporting your pastor, checking
- 6:55on your neighbors, forgiving people that irritate
- 6:58you quickly, being patient with difficult people,
- 7:02getting generously, stepping into someone's mess,
- 7:06sitting with someone who is grieving, extending
- 7:09grace over offense. and speaking truth with love.
- 7:14Jesus rarely changed people with sermons. He
- 7:17changed people with compassion. An enemy hates
- 7:21disciples who move. If the enemy can't silence
- 7:24you, he will immobilize you. He wants you overwhelmed,
- 7:29distracted, insecure, tired, self -focused, too
- 7:34busy, emotionally numb, spiritually empathetic,
- 7:39and convinced it won't. matter. Because the moment
- 7:43you begin moving like Jesus, he loses ground.
- 7:48Hell cannot withstand a believer who obeys quickly,
- 7:52loves deeply, and serves consistently, gives
- 7:55sacrificially, and speaks boldly, and shows compassion
- 8:00generously. The movement multiplies kingdom's
- 8:04impact. And so we've said these things over and
- 8:08over again this whole month about action. And
- 8:11it's not about your money. It's about your time,
- 8:13your talent, your patience, your kindness. These
- 8:16are what moves heaven. This is how we reflect
- 8:19Jesus. And so in our workbooks that we have on
- 8:24Frostering Faith Media, what are some practical
- 8:27ways that you can be the hands and feet of Jesus
- 8:29this week? It may be one person, one place, one
- 8:32need, one conversation, one act of service, one
- 8:35step of obedience and one moment of compassion.
- 8:38What is it that you can practically do this week
- 8:41to be the hands and feet of Jesus? Sit with the
- 8:44Holy Spirit and let him guide you and direct
- 8:47you. What's one place that you can commit to
- 8:50being the Jesus's hands and feet? What action
- 8:53will you take? Cook a meal? Volunteer in the
- 8:58ministry? Visit someone that's lonely? Bring
- 9:02a Bible to a friend? Pray with someone directly?
- 9:06Help a struggling student? by groceries for a
- 9:09single parent, step into a hard conversation,
- 9:13offer forgiveness, give generously, one action
- 9:18can shift the entire atmosphere. And so as we
- 9:23end this month of May, we hope that you have
- 9:25taken these faith steps and put them into action
- 9:29because we don't want to be just hearers of the
- 9:31word. We want to be doers of the word. We want
- 9:33to go out there and accru - and create disciples.
- 9:37We want to go out there and be fishers of men
- 9:38and not watchers of the aquarium. And so go out
- 9:41there and you, where He put you, you were not
- 9:43there by mistake. You were there by design, every
- 9:46detail of your life. He has planned out. He knows
- 9:50what you're going to do. He knows that the path
- 9:51that you're going to take and He has put you
- 9:53where you are for a reason. You were made. You
- 9:56have purpose. You are beautifully and wonderfully
- 9:59made exactly where you are. You are meant to
- 10:02be where you're at right now. Your job is not
- 10:05trivial. Your job is not insignificant. You are
- 10:08where you are supposed to be. Whether you're
- 10:10the president, whether you're the co -president,
- 10:12the vice president, a janitor, a secretary, a
- 10:15nurse, a doctor, a lawyer, wherever you're at,
- 10:18there is nothing that is too big or too small
- 10:21for your God to work on someone. So look around.
- 10:25Where has God placed you? What is your ministry?
- 10:28What is your battlefield? Where does He have
- 10:30you? And so if this message encouraged you, we
- 10:33ask that you share it, that you like it, that
- 10:34you leave us a review that helps us grow, that
- 10:36helps us spread our message. And so we would
- 10:39love to pray for you this week. Dear Heavenly
- 10:41Father, thank you so much for today. Thank you
- 10:43so much for yesterday. Thank you that we get
- 10:44to be your hands and feet. Thank you that you
- 10:47are helping us see people the way that you do.
- 10:49Thank you that you're giving us encouragement
- 10:51to move. Thank you for the compassion to love
- 10:53people. Thank you that we get to be obedient
- 10:55and follow your lead. Thank you that we get to
- 10:58be used by you. Thank you that we can be healed
- 11:01through your word. Thank you that you're lifting
- 11:03us up. Thank you that you give us peace. Thank
- 11:05you that you are able to just use us in the mess
- 11:08that we are in. Thank you that you make life
- 11:11visible to us. Thank you that you are such an
- 11:14expression of our heart. Thank you for all that
- 11:16you do. In Jesus name I pray. Amen and amen.
- 11:19We hope that this message encouraged you. We
- 11:21hope that this message gets you up and gets you
- 11:24going and your faith is in action. We love you
- 11:27guys. We will see you guys next week as we are
- 11:29going into the month of June over wisdom and
- 11:32that's going to be the month of Proverbs. We'll
- 11:35talk to you later. Have a great week. We love
- 11:37you. Bye.
