- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:23Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today
- 0:29Speaker 1: we're discussing Three Wisest Men, which originally aired on the
- 0:32Speaker 1: Hallmark Channel on Saturday, November fifteenth, twenty twenty five, and
- 0:36Speaker 1: is currently available to stream on Hallmark Plus. Fun fact,
- 0:40Speaker 1: the Hallmark Plus edition is the extended version with additional scenes,
- 0:44Speaker 1: and we understand a slightly different ending, although we haven't
- 0:47Speaker 1: seen it ourselves yet. Right. Tyler spilled those details on
- 0:51Speaker 1: the Hallmark Christmas Cruise. Right. For more details from us,
- 0:56Speaker 1: follow us on Instagram and TikTok where we are Girls
- 0:59Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark. Hey. If you have some thoughts about our
- 1:06Speaker 1: review or any of our reviews, you can email us
- 1:08Speaker 1: at Girls Gone Hallmark at gmail dot com or visit
- 1:12Speaker 1: us in our Facebook group, Girls Gone Hallmark. Let's kick
- 1:15Speaker 1: off our discussion of the Wise Dudes with a synopsis.
- 1:19Speaker 1: The Brinner brothers are back and facing their busiest Christmas yet,
- 1:23Speaker 1: with Luke expecting twins, Taylor Wayne a job out of state,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and Stephan preparing for his wedding, all while their mom
- 1:29Speaker 1: sells the family home. They'll have to stick together to
- 1:32Speaker 1: make it through one last Christmas under the same roof.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Terry Ingram returns to direct Three Wisest Men, having also
- 1:38Speaker 1: helmed the previous two films in the franchise. This marks
- 1:41Speaker 1: his one hundred first directing credit, with his most recent
- 1:44Speaker 1: Hallmark project being Journey to You starring Aaron Cahill earlier
- 1:48Speaker 1: this year. The story credit goes to Paul Campbell and
- 1:51Speaker 1: Kimberly Sestad. The teleplay was written by Paul Kimberly and
- 1:55Speaker 1: Russell Haynline. This movie marks Paul's seventh writing credit, Cam's fourth,
- 2:01Speaker 1: and Russell's ninth. Paul Campbell stars as Stefan. Paul has
- 2:05Speaker 1: fifty eight acting credits and will starr in the upcoming
- 2:08Speaker 1: Christmas at the Catnip Cafe on November thirtieth. I'm really
- 2:11Speaker 1: looking forward to that movie too, Really looking forward to it.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Tyler Hines stars as Taylor. We last saw Tyler in
- 2:19Speaker 1: Christmas Above the Clouds. This movie marks his seventy sixth
- 2:23Speaker 1: acting credit, and according to IMDb, he is currently in
- 2:26Speaker 1: pre production on a project called All the Familiar Places
- 2:29Speaker 1: co starring Stacy Farper. Andrew Walker stars as Luke. He's
- 2:33Speaker 1: had quite the year at Hallmark, appearing in Our Reluctant
- 2:36Speaker 1: Royal and Adventures in Love and Birding, and will co
- 2:39Speaker 1: star with Lazy Shavert in She's Making a List, making
- 2:42Speaker 1: it four Hallmark movies for him in twenty twenty five alone.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Margaret Colin returns as Mom Barbara with seventy nine acting credits.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Margaret has worked steadily throughout the years. Her very first
- 2:55Speaker 1: film was an appearance as a teacher in the eighties
- 2:57Speaker 1: classic Pretty in Pink. Thomas is played by my Marthaller
- 3:00Speaker 1: with seven acting credits. Miles was last seen as young
- 3:03Speaker 1: Frank Junior in two recent episodes of The Chicken Sisters.
- 3:07Speaker 1: He's currently filming the movie adaptation of the novel Remarkably
- 3:10Speaker 1: Bright Creatures. You read that right, Yeah, so excited a
- 3:15Speaker 1: little nervous about the octobus, but so excited. Kimberly Sestad
- 3:18Speaker 1: appears as doctor McLaren. Kim has fifty one acting credits,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and we last saw her fall for Ted Cooper in
- 3:25Speaker 1: Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper. Fiona Vroom returns as Stephen's fiancee
- 3:29Speaker 1: Susie Fiona has seventy eight acting credits and has appeared
- 3:32Speaker 1: in several Hallmark favorites, including Curious Caterer Forbidden Fruit. She's
- 3:37Speaker 1: currently co starring in the Fox drama Murder in a
- 3:39Speaker 1: Small Town. Nicole Major returns as Luke's wife, Sophie. This
- 3:44Speaker 1: is Nicholl's thirty first acting credit and previously appeared in
- 3:47Speaker 1: the Paul Campbell Kimberly Sestad movie Wedding Every Weekend. Aaron
- 3:52Speaker 1: Carpluk returns as Caroline. She has ninety four acting credits
- 3:55Speaker 1: and recently appeared as Cynthia Little in season two of
- 3:59Speaker 1: The Chicken and Sisters. I hear a question, is she
- 4:06Speaker 1: maybe one of the book editors should be the book editor.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I didn't watch season two, so I don't know, but
- 4:11Speaker 1: Cynthia Little is an interesting name because Chicken Little. I
- 4:16Speaker 1: was thinking the same thing. Matt Hamilton returns as Mark Leclark.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Matt is a favorite who fans want to see in
- 4:24Speaker 1: a leading role on Hallmark. He's got seventy acting credits
- 4:27Speaker 1: and will appear in the upcoming The Idaho Murderers. Oh
- 4:31Speaker 1: Christopher Schier appears as Roy with one hundred acting credits.
- 4:34Speaker 1: We last saw Christopher in Return to Office earlier this year.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I remember Christopher Shyre was in like a boatload of
- 4:41Speaker 1: movies last year. Yes, it was like where's Waldo? Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Alie Liebert is back as Fiona, a role she first
- 4:48Speaker 1: played in the Three Wise Men and a Baby movie.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You can also catch her in Family Law and in
- 4:54Speaker 1: the upcoming movie The Christmas Baby. I see so much
- 4:57Speaker 1: crossover in the Family Law. I know Benjamin Airs, but
- 5:00Speaker 1: there's others too, And I'm like, I wanna watch Should
- 5:03Speaker 1: I watch this same? Should I watch? There are a
- 5:05Speaker 1: lot of seasons too, so I'm like, I could just
- 5:07Speaker 1: it could be my next throw on show. That's right.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Lachlan Monroe joins as Bob. Lachlan has a whopping two
- 5:14Speaker 1: hundred and eighty eight acting credits and was recently seen
- 5:17Speaker 1: on The Chicken Sisters as Mayor Carson. We're gonna take
- 5:20Speaker 1: a quick break and come right back with our first
- 5:22Speaker 1: impression of three Wisest Men. Hey, Wendy, what's your first
- 5:34Speaker 1: impression of three Wisest Men? Bob is an act. My
- 5:39Speaker 1: first impression is thank goodness for the calming energy of
- 5:42Speaker 1: Mama Brenner. Oh, I want to talk about her scene.
- 5:47Speaker 1: We'll get there. Well, let's talk what we liked about
- 5:50Speaker 1: this movie, can I can? I kick it off with
- 5:53Speaker 1: my talks on Margaret Colin. Sure, as Mom, she is
- 5:57Speaker 1: the absolute voice of reason and sanity in this movie.
- 6:02Speaker 1: She says things like Dad didn't leave because he had
- 6:04Speaker 1: three kids. Dad left because he gave up on himself.
- 6:07Speaker 1: She's the one who reminds the boys that they'll all
- 6:09Speaker 1: be okay after all the changes that are coming their way.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And to your first impression, she is the one who
- 6:16Speaker 1: finally tells Bob to stfu when he is unnecessarily mean
- 6:19Speaker 1: to Stephan that scene, I was like, so long overdue
- 6:25Speaker 1: in this movie. I'm so glad you put Bob in
- 6:29Speaker 1: his place. He was such a jerk for no reason,
- 6:32Speaker 1: no reason, exactly, for no absolute reason. And she just
- 6:35Speaker 1: swoops in with this perfect blend of warmth and backbone,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and she's fiercely protective over her kids. Like, I just
- 6:44Speaker 1: thought it was nicely done. The theme of change feels
- 6:49Speaker 1: real and relatable. I think that was the next step
- 6:53Speaker 1: in this movie franchise. Sure, you know not everybody can
- 6:58Speaker 1: stay home and be I mean, I guess you can.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Everybody can stay home and live in the same town
- 7:02Speaker 1: forever and ever. But change is inevitable. Right. We have
- 7:06Speaker 1: Luke who's getting ready to have twins, Like, that's a
- 7:10Speaker 1: big change coming. Taylor. I hate that they named him
- 7:13Speaker 1: Taylor because it's so close to Tyler. Really trips me up.
- 7:17Speaker 1: But you know, the next progression for him is to
- 7:20Speaker 1: land a big job, and that job may take them
- 7:23Speaker 1: out of whatever palmark city they live in. I don't
- 7:26Speaker 1: even know. Do you know where they're supposed to be living.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It's so funny that they call like Silicon Valley. How
- 7:31Speaker 1: is Silicon Valley? Tell me about your trip to Silicon Valley? Like,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I know, Silicon Valley is like the hub of right,
- 7:37Speaker 1: but you wouldn't say that. No, San Francisco would say
- 7:39Speaker 1: San Francisco or California yea. And then of course we
- 7:42Speaker 1: have Stephen and Susie finally, like moving on to getting married.
- 7:49Speaker 1: You know, change a lot of change. My question is
- 7:53Speaker 1: why did the mom want to sell the house. She's
- 7:55Speaker 1: just ready to downside. She says she doesn't need this
- 7:57Speaker 1: big of a house. That's totally fair. We never learn
- 8:01Speaker 1: at the end if she sells the house, true, it's
- 8:03Speaker 1: never like buttoned up, true, And I feel like if
- 8:06Speaker 1: you have such a big family, I mean, look, I
- 8:08Speaker 1: get getting older and wanting to downsize because it's so
- 8:11Speaker 1: much harder to take care of a big home. But
- 8:13Speaker 1: you also have this big family. You want a place
- 8:16Speaker 1: for them. You want a place for them. You're gonna
- 8:17Speaker 1: have three grandchildren in your home, maybe more eventually, right
- 8:23Speaker 1: and especially with everybody moving on, you want a place
- 8:24Speaker 1: for them to come home to. But I can understand
- 8:27Speaker 1: her wanting to downsize, and they can stay in a
- 8:29Speaker 1: hotel when they come visit. I think in this movie
- 8:33Speaker 1: we dig in on the romantic relationships between the Brenner
- 8:36Speaker 1: boys in a deeper way than we have in the past,
- 8:40Speaker 1: particularly across all three of them. I think if you
- 8:44Speaker 1: look at movie number two, Sophie is physically absent for
- 8:47Speaker 1: most of it. Yeah, and she's a big player in
- 8:49Speaker 1: this movie. And I think the past movies were more
- 8:53Speaker 1: about the relationship of the men to each other, and
- 8:56Speaker 1: this one they really did become their own fans unit
- 9:01Speaker 1: and how those played together. And I think as a
- 9:03Speaker 1: result of that, we do bring resolution to each of
- 9:06Speaker 1: their relationships, and at the end of the movie, we
- 9:08Speaker 1: leave them in a settled place where we understand where
- 9:13Speaker 1: they're going from there, which I like. And do you
- 9:16Speaker 1: think there'll be a fourth movie? Well, I don't know.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Is there a story there? In your opinion? Is there
- 9:22Speaker 1: a story there? I don't need a fourth movie. I
- 9:25Speaker 1: think where there's a will, there's a way. We were
- 9:29Speaker 1: sent a video from Brenda, a listener who was on
- 9:32Speaker 1: the cruise where Tyler was, asked that same question and
- 9:35Speaker 1: his answer was maybe. His answer was maybe. I think
- 9:39Speaker 1: his answer was if we can figure out a story
- 9:41Speaker 1: to tell that we think is worth telling. Yeah. His
- 9:43Speaker 1: answer also was like, we want to give the fans
- 9:46Speaker 1: what they want, so if there's a way, we'll do it. Yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I just don't know if there's a story there. I
- 9:53Speaker 1: don't either, not that. I mean, we've got seasons and
- 9:57Speaker 1: seasons upon seasons of Chesapeake Shores about large family, right,
- 10:01Speaker 1: so there's got to be something like they can write
- 10:06Speaker 1: something for this movie. I think like family dynamics where
- 10:11Speaker 1: they're at. But I remain unclear. If if I want
- 10:16Speaker 1: to watch it, I hear you, and that has That
- 10:20Speaker 1: is not to diminish anybody who worked on this movie,
- 10:25Speaker 1: who acted in this movie, who wrote this movie, Like
- 10:28Speaker 1: I think everybody is wonderful and great. I just I
- 10:32Speaker 1: could be down for a new, fresh story. I don't
- 10:35Speaker 1: personally super vibe with what's happening here. Oh tell me more. Well,
- 10:41Speaker 1: we'll talk about it in our wish Okay, okay, don't.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I don't hate it. I like everybody involved. I'm happy
- 10:47Speaker 1: to see Tyler, and Andrew and Paul on screen. I
- 10:50Speaker 1: think I like that Margaret Colin was given a bigger
- 10:53Speaker 1: role in this, and we have seen her in the past.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's fun to see the many Hallmark familiar faces in
- 10:59Speaker 1: this movie. Lachlin, Monroe, Ali Leber, Matt Hamilton back as
- 11:02Speaker 1: Mark Laclark. I enjoy all of that. It doesn't hit
- 11:05Speaker 1: for me in the way that some movies do. Yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and it's I don't mean that to be a takedown,
- 11:11Speaker 1: And I go there are people who ride hard for
- 11:14Speaker 1: these movies, and they're so glad to see them back,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and they're glad to see the guys in their silly suits.
- 11:20Speaker 1: In fact, it was just announced that at Christmas Con
- 11:23Speaker 1: there is a photo op with the three guys, and
- 11:25Speaker 1: there was a question, what are they gonna be wearing.
- 11:27Speaker 1: They're gonna be wearing the silly Christmas suits that they
- 11:29Speaker 1: were wearing. Cool. There are people for whom that works
- 11:33Speaker 1: so and I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them too.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Truth be told. As we know now, those who were
- 11:39Speaker 1: on the Christmas Cruise got to see an early screen
- 11:42Speaker 1: of this movie. Yeah, and so we knew a couple
- 11:45Speaker 1: of people who were on the cruise, and I was
- 11:47Speaker 1: very curious. I was like, what was the what was
- 11:50Speaker 1: the feedback on the movie? And we were told everybody
- 11:54Speaker 1: loved it. Now, if I could just add this caveat
- 11:57Speaker 1: when we saw Jingle Run on these last year, still
- 12:01Speaker 1: one of my favorite movies, but there was a heightened
- 12:04Speaker 1: experience watching it in a theater with a bunch of people.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And I think watching this movie in that manner and
- 12:12Speaker 1: hearing the jokes and like seeing your favorites on screen
- 12:14Speaker 1: with other people having a shared experience, and the stars
- 12:18Speaker 1: are in the theater there, it's gonna be the greatest
- 12:21Speaker 1: movie you've ever seen and ever Yes, the shared experience
- 12:24Speaker 1: of it all. You're on the Hallmark Christmas Cruise, on
- 12:27Speaker 1: a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean, watching
- 12:29Speaker 1: it with other Hallmark fans and Hallmark stars. You're in
- 12:32Speaker 1: the moment one hundred percent. It heightens the experience. And
- 12:35Speaker 1: in fact, after we watched Jingle Bell Run, I came
- 12:39Speaker 1: home and I watched it when it aired, and I wondered,
- 12:42Speaker 1: is it going to him the same now it did
- 12:45Speaker 1: that movie? I really love me too, But there certainly
- 12:48Speaker 1: was an element of our enjoyment of the movie that
- 12:50Speaker 1: came from the experience. Yeah. Yeah, So I'm just I'm curious.
- 12:55Speaker 1: You know. I don't think there's gonna be somebody who goes,
- 12:59Speaker 1: oh yeah, I watched it coming home and it wasn't
- 13:00Speaker 1: as good because I think this franchise, these actors have
- 13:05Speaker 1: such writers guy fans. Yeah, there's a reason they've made
- 13:09Speaker 1: three of these movies. Yeah, exactly. People will show up
- 13:11Speaker 1: and I understand that. And look, the reality is, I'm
- 13:14Speaker 1: more excited about the four movies created by these four stars.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Christmas Above the Clouds, Yes, it's making a list, Christmas
- 13:21Speaker 1: at the Catnip Cafe, Ted Cooper, Ted Cooper, than I
- 13:26Speaker 1: was about this individual one. So I love the people involved.
- 13:29Speaker 1: In fact, we've only seen Ted Cooper and Christmas Above
- 13:33Speaker 1: the Clouds, two movies better than this movie. Agree. Now,
- 13:37Speaker 1: with all that said, I do think Paul Campbell, Tyler Hines,
- 13:42Speaker 1: and Andrew Walker. They are magic together. They obviously have
- 13:47Speaker 1: a real life friendship that you cannot fake. I mean,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I guess you can fake if you're a really great actor,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but like, it's obvious to me that there is a
- 13:57Speaker 1: natural rhythm and vibe and brotherly kind of relationship that
- 14:02Speaker 1: works on camera. Yes, their on screen chemistry is undeniable.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I enjoy that, m hm. And I think it's kind
- 14:11Speaker 1: of interesting. I was thinking about it. Has there been
- 14:14Speaker 1: a Hallmark series that has like an ongoing male lead?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Is this? It? Is this the first like three dudes
- 14:22Speaker 1: who are like three big stars on the neck. Groomsman, oh,
- 14:26Speaker 1: the Groomsman. Yeah, but we nobody's talking about making a
- 14:30Speaker 1: fourth movie there, did you see? I think it was
- 14:32Speaker 1: Jonathan Bennett who joked. I think it was a the
- 14:36Speaker 1: three groomsmen were on stage and he was like, Groomsmen
- 14:38Speaker 1: Christmas coming twenty twenty six. Oh no, I did it,
- 14:41Speaker 1: And I was like just kidding. I was like, man,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you had me going. I would have been very excited
- 14:44Speaker 1: for the Groomsmen Christmas? Would you yeah? Bring it back?
- 14:48Speaker 1: I liked the Groomsman. I think we could tell one
- 14:50Speaker 1: more story. I liked it too, but also I just
- 14:53Speaker 1: think there's like an end to these things. Just think
- 14:55Speaker 1: there's an end to these things. Let's talk about my guy,
- 15:00Speaker 1: Tyler Hines. Okay, and I say my guy jokingly. I
- 15:06Speaker 1: love Tyler Hines, you know I do. I fond over
- 15:09Speaker 1: him over the summer, calling him mister Golden Delicious, and
- 15:13Speaker 1: he saw it, like and it makes me sweat a
- 15:16Speaker 1: little bit still that he knows that. I think he's
- 15:19Speaker 1: so good. I enjoy him as an actor. There are
- 15:22Speaker 1: a lot of scenes in this movie that I actually
- 15:28Speaker 1: think are super emotional, and he brings it home. So
- 15:34Speaker 1: for example, his proposal scene not even it wasn't like
- 15:40Speaker 1: a wedding proposal, like a marriage proposal, but like a
- 15:42Speaker 1: let's move to Silicon Valley. I really enjoyed that. His
- 15:48Speaker 1: hesitance about change, like you know, he was really struggling
- 15:52Speaker 1: with leaving his family, like I thought. He executed that
- 15:56Speaker 1: all really well. I love all the little jabs he makes.
- 16:01Speaker 1: He calls Luke at one point a square job firefighting legend,
- 16:06Speaker 1: which I thought was really funny. But he was hyping
- 16:09Speaker 1: his brother up in this scene the stuff with the bird,
- 16:13Speaker 1: which the bird leans a little hygiene see for me.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But when he's like, Megan has made this face like
- 16:19Speaker 1: a little I know, I know. But when he's like,
- 16:25Speaker 1: you know, like he's offended that the bird like stole
- 16:28Speaker 1: his line one and two, like he didn't like the
- 16:31Speaker 1: way that bird was talking about his brother, I thought
- 16:33Speaker 1: was great, so funny, so so funny. Yeah, just to
- 16:38Speaker 1: I have a couple of these in my digitsy. That's
- 16:40Speaker 1: but I loved his If a perfect was a person,
- 16:43Speaker 1: it would be you speech to Luke. But he also
- 16:47Speaker 1: says to Stefan, you're the perfect son in law and
- 16:48Speaker 1: not a bird losing liar. And then probably the most
- 16:53Speaker 1: touching line of the movie, he said to Luke, watching
- 16:55Speaker 1: you with Tea has made me believe in fathers again. Yeah,
- 16:59Speaker 1: that's yeah. And because we don't have a ton of
- 17:02Speaker 1: backstory on the dad, right, just that he left. Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 1: that was a really good line. I remember feeling something
- 17:09Speaker 1: when he said that. Yeah, I liked it. Matt Hamilton
- 17:14Speaker 1: asks Santa when he comes and delivers that toy to
- 17:17Speaker 1: Thomas Christmas magic super adorable. Great. Yeah, I love Matt Hamilton. Yeah,
- 17:23Speaker 1: it was a great way to keep him involved. You know,
- 17:25Speaker 1: how are we going to bring markle Clarke back. It
- 17:27Speaker 1: was great. Are you ready to talk wishes? I am,
- 17:30Speaker 1: I have a bag and a little okay, my big wish.
- 17:33Speaker 1: This movie is entirely too chaotic for me to it chaotic.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Oh yes, it's near constant chaos. The parenting class instructor
- 17:41Speaker 1: of the fire station children, Susie's phone ringing with a
- 17:43Speaker 1: call from her father that she does in silence. The
- 17:45Speaker 1: arguing about the gingerbread house, the bird playing dead and
- 17:47Speaker 1: then escaping, the rodent running through the living room, the
- 17:50Speaker 1: ball pit. For me, there are people who enjoy this
- 17:55Speaker 1: level of silliness. It makes for a little bit of
- 17:58Speaker 1: a stressful watching experience. Well that's so funny you say that,
- 18:01Speaker 1: because we just recorded our review of Finding Mister Christmas,
- 18:05Speaker 1: and some of the feedback to the actors error in
- 18:09Speaker 1: that where like fans or viewers want to feel comforted,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and I especially think with a Hallmark movie they want
- 18:17Speaker 1: to feel comfort Yes. So, so much of television is
- 18:22Speaker 1: so stressful and it's built on that, like raising your
- 18:25Speaker 1: blood pressure and keeping it there so you binge to
- 18:27Speaker 1: the next episode. Uh huh, Like are you watching that
- 18:30Speaker 1: series on Peacock All Her fault. Yes I am. And
- 18:32Speaker 1: it's so good. It's so good, but that first episode
- 18:35Speaker 1: is so stressful, like you can feel the stress of it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: That's not what I turned a Hallmark for. And obviously
- 18:41Speaker 1: this is on such a different level. But this is
- 18:44Speaker 1: where I say, like, it doesn't work for me because
- 18:46Speaker 1: that's I don't want to be in that heightened state
- 18:48Speaker 1: of like there's so much I don't like chaos. Yeah,
- 18:51Speaker 1: I don't like it. Yeah. Well it's funny because I
- 18:54Speaker 1: feel a little bit like a hypocrite because we've been
- 18:57Speaker 1: asking Hallmark like give us something out of the box. Yeah, right,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I don't want to lean back on Hallmark of twenty sixteen,
- 19:04Speaker 1: where it's like a very you know, cookie cutter movie. Yeah,
- 19:08Speaker 1: even though a lot of people like the safety of that,
- 19:12Speaker 1: and I feel like here we're saying like we want
- 19:14Speaker 1: the safety of this calm watching viewing experience, not this
- 19:20Speaker 1: chaotic out of the box experience. Yeah. But I think
- 19:23Speaker 1: Homework has been playing with as someone would say, like
- 19:26Speaker 1: in the Hallmark sandbox, Like you're playing in that space,
- 19:30Speaker 1: but you're still trying new things. Like I think we
- 19:34Speaker 1: can still play within the the movies that we've loved
- 19:37Speaker 1: this year have still fit the Hallmark mold Merry Christmas.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Ted Cooper is still very comforting, very warm, but takes
- 19:45Speaker 1: it to the next level a little bit, right, So
- 19:48Speaker 1: don't I don't think you're being a hypocrite and saying
- 19:51Speaker 1: do something new, but don't do something too new. Right.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Let me ask you this what you just talked about
- 19:57Speaker 1: taking to the next level. Do you think they're like, well,
- 20:00Speaker 1: we have a fine movie here, but we need to
- 20:02Speaker 1: take it to level twelve with the hyjinks? Because I
- 20:06Speaker 1: just think people want the hyjinks. It's why everybody loved
- 20:08Speaker 1: the dance from the first movie that they recreated in
- 20:10Speaker 1: the second movie, and why the guys had to do
- 20:12Speaker 1: it over and over again on the cruise. I think
- 20:14Speaker 1: I think people like that. They want to see these
- 20:17Speaker 1: guys being silly, and I feel like Meet the Parents
- 20:25Speaker 1: is what I always turned to. Oh, that's so funny
- 20:27Speaker 1: that you mentioned that movie franchise. That is a movie
- 20:31Speaker 1: you don't like, right, you can't stand it, it's too much. Stop.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Don't you think the whole missing pet storyline was very reminiscent?
- 20:38Speaker 1: So I mean his parents? Yeah? I thought so too.
- 20:40Speaker 1: It's just like chaos after chaos and I just yeah
- 20:45Speaker 1: for me. Along the same lines, some of the Hyjink's
- 20:49Speaker 1: comedy was way overused. The rodent scene with the jumping
- 20:54Speaker 1: into the Christmas tree and it like falling and like
- 20:57Speaker 1: all that. I didn't like any of that. The bird antics,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I did think it was a kind of funny, but
- 21:04Speaker 1: then like you know it was you could see their
- 21:06Speaker 1: riding on the wall when he opens the window, and
- 21:09Speaker 1: then the brain you know, the hospital wedding at the end,
- 21:13Speaker 1: This woman who just gave birth to twins would not
- 21:15Speaker 1: be sitting there in a wheelchair at a wedding. It
- 21:20Speaker 1: would never happen. I won't even get into the details.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I had a C section. I was out for hours.
- 21:26Speaker 1: There's no way, there's no way I know that. Aside
- 21:31Speaker 1: the Christmas shopping brawl. In the ball pit, they're fighting
- 21:37Speaker 1: a lady over a toy, and I was like, I
- 21:41Speaker 1: don't like any of this, And of course, like then
- 21:43Speaker 1: they show like the guys and they're jumping in the
- 21:45Speaker 1: pit and they're like searching for the toy. They're not
- 21:48Speaker 1: like wrestling the lady or anything, which is like too
- 21:50Speaker 1: far for me. Yeah, but oh, like that's the moment
- 21:53Speaker 1: they gave Fred Claus for me when he's running away
- 21:55Speaker 1: from all the Santa Clauses. Have you seen that movie?
- 21:57Speaker 1: Or no, I don't know that movie. He made a
- 22:00Speaker 1: fake charity and he's on the street. He's like, I'm
- 22:01Speaker 1: people helping people, and then all the actual Salvation Army
- 22:04Speaker 1: Sanna's chased him down and they have like a standoff
- 22:07Speaker 1: in a toy store and they all pile on him,
- 22:10Speaker 1: and it was that was very reminiscent of that scene
- 22:12Speaker 1: for me. Got it, Got it? I have just one
- 22:14Speaker 1: small wish, go ahead. I really wished Susie would have
- 22:17Speaker 1: stood up for Stephan before Stephan's mom had to do it.
- 22:20Speaker 1: She really needed to say Dad, back off, because she
- 22:23Speaker 1: just kept defending him. No, he doesn't dislike you. No
- 22:25Speaker 1: he's fine everything. No he's being rude. You need to
- 22:28Speaker 1: stand up to your father and say you're in our
- 22:31Speaker 1: home with Stephan's family, don't speak to him like that. Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: He was so out of line, so out of line.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it. I was like, why is he
- 22:42Speaker 1: so pissed off about He's just an angry person. Ugh,
- 22:46Speaker 1: just that archetype of like, oh, nobody's good enough for
- 22:48Speaker 1: my daughter. Yeah, he didn't even know who Stephan was. Yes,
- 22:53Speaker 1: look you've been to the gym. I did think that
- 22:55Speaker 1: was quite funny. Yes, it was funny. I thought that
- 22:57Speaker 1: was funny. And I thought I thought the am my
- 23:01Speaker 1: bad boy now because I was in jail kind of
- 23:05Speaker 1: line was pretty funny too. Some of the times, though,
- 23:08Speaker 1: I got to tell you, when I was watching this
- 23:10Speaker 1: and they're like throwing out these like punchlines that weren't
- 23:13Speaker 1: landing for me, but almost was like I felt like
- 23:16Speaker 1: I was watching a comedy that would have a laugh
- 23:18Speaker 1: track over it. And I'm sure when people watched it
- 23:21Speaker 1: in that movie theater on the cruise, like, I'm sure
- 23:24Speaker 1: I got lots of laughs in those in those spaces there.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Of course, all right, let's talk to you to see
- 23:29Speaker 1: that I have a few and it is all about
- 23:32Speaker 1: product placement. Okay, let's hear it. First of all, I
- 23:36Speaker 1: sent Megan a text of a screenshot of King's Hawaiian roles,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and she's like, I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 23:42Speaker 1: And I hadn't finished the movie at that point, and
- 23:45Speaker 1: then I watched it. I was like, I still have
- 23:46Speaker 1: no idea what you're talking about. I missed it look
- 23:50Speaker 1: Hawaiian rolls are like a staple at our house or
- 23:52Speaker 1: in the holidays. I'm true, so nicely done there, but
- 23:56Speaker 1: like you know, they're having those like dinner scene and
- 23:59Speaker 1: the wellm comes with like a package of Hawaiian. Oh
- 24:02Speaker 1: I missed it. Paul's like, ooh, kings Hawaiian and then
- 24:05Speaker 1: they pass them around the table and it gets down
- 24:07Speaker 1: to him and they're gone at this point, Look, I
- 24:13Speaker 1: need I looked up the Wayne's World product placement clip.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I'm like, is it as good as I remember? I
- 24:20Speaker 1: need to show it to you right now. It's one
- 24:22Speaker 1: minute long. I need to show it to you, and
- 24:23Speaker 1: it's the choice of a new generation. I am gonna
- 24:26Speaker 1: put this in the show notes for this episode. I
- 24:29Speaker 1: need every single person to watch the Wayne's World product
- 24:32Speaker 1: placement clip from the Wayn's World movie. I don't like
- 24:35Speaker 1: stupid humor, but I love that Wayne's World movie. I
- 24:38Speaker 1: quote from it all the time, all the time. That's
- 24:42Speaker 1: what I see. And do you understand because it's so blatant.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Definitely the zoom in the like very unnatural use of
- 24:51Speaker 1: a product. Yes, we got to talk about home goods.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Let me just say I shot at home goods a
- 24:57Speaker 1: lot me too. They do not sell bags. You get
- 25:00Speaker 1: a gray plastic bag when you go to home goods.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You don't get a nice like department p sure bag.
- 25:07Speaker 1: It does not happen. But yes, go ahead, let's talk
- 25:09Speaker 1: about home goods. I mean it's the same thing. It's
- 25:11Speaker 1: they bring in these beautiful bags, overflowing with products they're hanging.
- 25:15Speaker 1: They had to buy all new Christmas decorations. Not everything
- 25:18Speaker 1: was ruined by the freaking rodent. They had to buy
- 25:20Speaker 1: all new Christmas decorations. I mean they zoom in on
- 25:23Speaker 1: the bag, they zoom in on the tag. It's I
- 25:26Speaker 1: love home goods. It takes you out of the moment
- 25:28Speaker 1: a little bit, does I don't know how to do it? Well,
- 25:31Speaker 1: I don't. We just talked about it actually, Nordstrom rac
- 25:35Speaker 1: Nordstrom rac. Yes, but I think it's really hard to
- 25:39Speaker 1: do it. Well, I think so too. Somebody needs to
- 25:42Speaker 1: come up with a better plan unless it's like, well, god,
- 25:45Speaker 1: I'm talking, everyone's talking about North stormak and Kings Hawaiian rolls.
- 25:47Speaker 1: So so home goods is happy maybe, I but in
- 25:53Speaker 1: a negative you don't care any good press or any
- 25:57Speaker 1: precess press, bad publicity, yea King's Hawaiian's that's gonna be
- 26:03Speaker 1: my new friend. Yallo different, I say it all the time.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I don't even known a gun okay for me. For digits,
- 26:11Speaker 1: that's it's real, not true digit see, that's just some thoughts, okay.
- 26:15Speaker 1: And we talked a lot about the funny dialogue that
- 26:18Speaker 1: I liked, but I did love everybody loves the trilogy
- 26:20Speaker 1: from doctor Kimberly Sestad. I mean, you know, winking a nod. Yeah.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Is it just me? Or does the tech bro at
- 26:26Speaker 1: the beginning look like Bobbo David Beckham, Yeah, definitely. I
- 26:30Speaker 1: loved Taylor and Carolyn eating popcorn during the road and Fiasco,
- 26:33Speaker 1: just enjoying the chaos going on. And I had to
- 26:37Speaker 1: laugh at Stephan's book cover, Get Out of your Own Way,
- 26:39Speaker 1: as a photo of him with a train behind him
- 26:42Speaker 1: with his face on the front of it coming down
- 26:46Speaker 1: and it's not like an angry face, and it's very
- 26:48Speaker 1: if you had a child or have a child who's
- 26:51Speaker 1: into trains, it's very Thomas the Train, how they had
- 26:53Speaker 1: the faith on the front. I just thought it was
- 26:55Speaker 1: very funny. Had tip to whoever was in charge of
- 26:58Speaker 1: making that Get Out of your own graphic. That's funny.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I just have two more little digit. See that's one.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Tyler's wearing a black on black suit situation at the
- 27:08Speaker 1: top of the movie, and he looks fire in it.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I love this black on black ensemble. I really love
- 27:15Speaker 1: that seeing. He's really funny in it the whole time.
- 27:18Speaker 1: That send up of the VC capital space, I thought
- 27:23Speaker 1: it was funny. Yeah, you know. Also, did you notice
- 27:25Speaker 1: that his hair is much darker in this movie. It
- 27:28Speaker 1: did not. It's far more emo than Golden Delicious, but
- 27:32Speaker 1: I didn't notice. I don't hate it. I think it's
- 27:35Speaker 1: just who his character is. I see. Also my final
- 27:39Speaker 1: digit sy that when Bob is looking for his missing
- 27:42Speaker 1: bird and he's got a he's got like flyers, it says,
- 27:46Speaker 1: missing parrot. That is not a parrot. It's a cockatill
- 27:49Speaker 1: right right? Don't they even look like a parrot? No?
- 27:52Speaker 1: Do you have those orange tiny parrots by you? Those
- 27:55Speaker 1: green parrots? No? Oh, there's wild parrots. Wild parrots. They're
- 28:00Speaker 1: green and they're so loud when you hear them. Go over. Wait,
- 28:03Speaker 1: why are there wild parrots? They've been here for a
- 28:06Speaker 1: while a long time, but they're here. I haven't seen them,
- 28:09Speaker 1: and they used to be on the other end of
- 28:11Speaker 1: the city I live in, and then now they're on
- 28:13Speaker 1: the side. They moved up this direction and you can
- 28:16Speaker 1: they have a very distinctive squawk to them when they
- 28:18Speaker 1: go overhead. Yeah, we have wild parrots. Wow, I find
- 28:21Speaker 1: them charming. Actually, some people are like they're invasive. They
- 28:25Speaker 1: don't bother me. Birds don't bother me. That's all. Well,
- 28:28Speaker 1: what did you rate? Three? May I just say I
- 28:31Speaker 1: do think the movie should be called The Three Wisest Men.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I agree, Three Wisest Men stumbles off the tone. What
- 28:39Speaker 1: did you rate Three Wisest Men? Send your emails to
