- 1:01Man, we got off of a week of crazy college football once
- 1:05again, because once again we have upsets running amok
- 1:11absolutely everywhere. And as somebody who I do weekly
- 1:16picks and if you ever want to catch those and if you like what
- 1:20you hear, if you don't like what you hear, definitely check me
- 1:23out on all of my social media, inside the Hoosier Mind,
- 1:26wherever you get your podcasts at.
- 1:27Anything like that, good, bad, indifferent, you know, I will
- 1:31take any and all of it. And what really sucks about it
- 1:35is when I do these picks, I get super excited and I know I'm
- 1:40probably never going to go perfect, but I still kind of
- 1:44hope that I do. And that unfortunately has not
- 1:47happened yet. I've come really close and I've
- 1:50done really well with, you know, some of the overall records and
- 1:54picks and whatnot. I haven't done it for week 5.
- 1:57I think my best technically is week one out of the Power 4
- 2:03versus Power 4 matchups. I went eight and one.
- 2:06That's probably as good as I'm going to get.
- 2:11I can maybe hope for for better, but as it stands right now,
- 2:17probably not going to be the case.
- 2:21But man, what a crazy week. And what's kind of cool and bad
- 2:25both about this is that we're learning so much more about each
- 2:29team as the season goes on. And it's still one of those.
- 2:33Now we're moving out of the there's still time, you know,
- 2:37we're now we're starting to get the identity of some of these
- 2:41teams and we've already started to see some start to separate
- 2:45themselves out. Now the other bad part though,
- 2:48is there's still some bias and there's still some kind of over
- 2:53hype for some of the teams and even 1 conference in particular
- 2:58that I'll talk to that I'll talk a little bit about throughout
- 3:01the show. And that is the SEC.
- 3:04And that's how kind of crazy some of the AP voters even go
- 3:09through. And one of them was, you know,
- 3:11Florida upset Ole Miss. So they, you know, skyrocketed
- 3:14Florida from 21 all the way up to 8.
- 3:17And then Florida has since come back down to earth a little bit
- 3:21as a result of that. And we'll look at their rankings
- 3:24real quick because I just don't have enough that pulled up in
- 3:27front of me. But I believe they're like
- 3:31they're in the teens again. I think they might be 15 if I
- 3:34remember correctly. And of course, I say that and
- 3:40watch them be on buy right now. Well, I'll do it this way then.
- 3:46Nonetheless, though, I mean, they're 16 now.
- 3:50So they went from 8 back down to 16, which I feel like you
- 3:53probably could have put them there even after the Ole Miss
- 3:56loss. But this is where like the AP
- 3:59poll gets weird because they don't want to drop Ole Miss that
- 4:01far because they still consider Ole Miss respectable.
- 4:06But then it just causes a whole caveat of chaos as far as Oh
- 4:09well then LS us, you know, loss to them doesn't look as good.
- 4:13And LSU has some quality wins against like Texas A&M and
- 4:16whatnot. So the the whole entire thing is
- 4:19weird. There was even 1 AP poll voter
- 4:22that even though our first topic that we were going to talk about
- 4:27Alabama versus Mississippi State, he actually wanted to
- 4:30vault Mississippi State up into the top 10 for what ended up
- 4:36being an absolute beat down from Alabama.
- 4:39And, and I just, I've never understood why.
- 4:42And I again, even being a fan of an SEC team, even having a
- 4:47little bit of a bias towards the SEC, I've never understood this
- 4:53whole notion and narrative of it's better to get your butt
- 4:57kicked basically in the SEC because that's a good loss.
- 5:02And, and this is where I've for majority of my time ever doing
- 5:05any type of podcasting or just talking sports in general.
- 5:08I've just, I've never understood this whole idea of like, oh,
- 5:11well, it's a good loss. Like you got your butt kicked by
- 5:14the best. Nobody ever wants that.
- 5:17But I mean, if you want to really search for the positives
- 5:20and things, yeah, you can absolutely do that.
- 5:23I don't personally see where the good is in getting your butt
- 5:28kicked. And whoa, we got our butts
- 5:29kicked by the best. That's just a weird bragging
- 5:33thing. But but nonetheless, the actual
- 5:36game itself was very surprising. And it was one that I was a
- 5:40little upset because I had actually picked Mississippi
- 5:43State for the upset. The spread was Alabama was
- 5:48favored by 5 1/2. They ended up meeting that
- 5:51extremely well. Part of the other issue is it
- 5:54just seemed like Mississippi State couldn't get going.
- 5:57There is the turnover on the 1st Dr. Alabama ends up turning it
- 6:02into points. They turn around Camaro Taylor
- 6:04immediately throws an interception.
- 6:06Then it goes all the way back for a pick six.
- 6:09And before you know it, they're down 14, nothing.
- 6:11And then they're having to try to, you know, claw their way out
- 6:13of a hole. And I mean, at least at the end
- 6:16of the first quarter, it's like, OK, it might be a little bit
- 6:18competitive. It's 14 to 7.
- 6:20They're only down a score. But then by halftime, it's 28 to
- 6:2317. And that's it.
- 6:25It's not an insurmountable lead to have to try to claw back
- 6:29from. But it just seemed like
- 6:31Mississippi State's defense just wasn't there.
- 6:34Camario Taylor, he definitely had a struggle type of day.
- 6:37I know it's only his sophomore season, his second full season
- 6:40of starting 19 at 34258, three touchdowns and two picks.
- 6:46One of the graphics I wanted to show on this, actually, he, I
- 6:51mean, he, he is solid. Like I, I can't, I can't deny
- 6:55that. And it's funny, even a couple of
- 6:57the Alabama fans that I know and I'm friends with, they, they
- 7:02were kind of giving him crap because he lost to Alabama and
- 7:05they're like, oh, he doesn't deserve to be in the same, you
- 7:07know, same conversation as Kelon Russell.
- 7:10I, I will say this, his it, it says a lot when your former
- 7:17coach and Nick Saban said that if he was in the portal right
- 7:20now, he would be going to get Kamario Taylor.
- 7:24Whatever he would have to offer, he would be going to get him.
- 7:28That says a lot about how good of an athlete Kamario Taylor is.
- 7:34So what does this really mean for both teams as we move
- 7:36forward? This is one that I, I gave
- 7:39Alabama other. I consider this Alabama's first
- 7:42true test. And that's no knock against
- 7:45Kentucky, But I mean, they Kentucky had them dead to rights
- 7:49in the first half. Now, obviously Alabama made the
- 7:52necessary adjustments they needed to do in the second-half
- 7:55to ultimately blow them out 45 to 17.
- 7:58But I I mean, they had them dead to rights.
- 8:01The the other team was Florida State.
- 8:03I mean, prior to that weird weather time out or they had
- 8:07this, you know, just, I think it was like a 2 hour delay or
- 8:10something like that. And they ended up coming back
- 8:14and beating Florida State 50 to 36.
- 8:16But it was not like that initially.
- 8:18It was like 21 to 6 Florida State and then the Tide search
- 8:22back. So this to me was really their
- 8:25first true test. Now it was on the road, it was
- 8:29in Starkville. It's against a very young
- 8:31Mississippi State team that is that is honestly and truthfully
- 8:36I, I think is kind of overachieving and which is great
- 8:40for them, it's great for the sport, but then it's kind of
- 8:44hard to almost evaluate what they look like from that point.
- 8:48Now, Alabama's tests continues to get even harder.
- 8:53But this is also where we'll see what does, what does Kaylin
- 8:57Deborne look like? What does this Crimson Tide team
- 8:59look like as we move on deeper into the season, as we and as
- 9:04SEC play continues to to move forward With that, they host
- 9:10Georgia this coming weekend. Georgia's number 2.
- 9:13I don't know what the line is off the top of my head.
- 9:16But then they also, they travel on the road to Tennessee.
- 9:20Who's ranked #15 at the current moment, they host Texas A&M now
- 9:24at the beginning of the year, this was actually a really big,
- 9:28really big match up prior to Texas A&M kind of falling off.
- 9:31And I, I don't expect it to end up being a pretty game
- 9:35nonetheless, especially for Texas A&M side because I, I
- 9:39completely see Alabama taking advantage of Marcel Reed having
- 9:43a lot of struggles. Texas A&M's wide receiver core
- 9:46is hurt. Now who knows this, this game
- 9:48isn't until the 24th of this month of October.
- 9:52So they could get healthy. They could maybe get some guys
- 9:56back and maybe find a rhythm once again.
- 9:58They did get the big win against Arkansas, maybe kind of helps
- 10:02right the ship a little bit. But I, I don't expect them to do
- 10:06anything extremely crazy. But as far as the match up
- 10:10against Georgia, ESP NS matchup predictor has Alabama about a
- 10:1553% favorite right now over the Bulldogs.
- 10:20The spread itself, according to DraftKings only has Alabama by a
- 10:25point and a half favorite. And I, I think a large part of
- 10:29that is just due to Georgia really hasn't faced anybody.
- 10:32I mean, they, they beat up on nothing but cupcakes to start
- 10:35the season. They beat up Tennessee State,
- 10:37Western Kentucky to for their first two starts.
- 10:41Then they beat up an Arkansas team that is still struggling.
- 10:44They beat up an Oklahoma team that has more or less beat
- 10:47themselves. And then a Vanderbilt team that
- 10:51again is post Diego Pavia kind of trying to figure out their
- 10:54identity, figure out how they're going to move forward post him
- 10:58being gone. So this is one that I'm like, I
- 11:03I feel this could go really either way.
- 11:06I do see why they're doing the point and a half favorite just
- 11:09because of who Alabama has faced up into this point.
- 11:12They have faced more power for competition now, albeit not the
- 11:18greatest power for competition, but they have faced it in South
- 11:22Carolina and then of course in Mississippi State.
- 11:25And that's, you know, all the respect to Mississippi State and
- 11:28Kamara Taylor. But yeah, this this will be one
- 11:32that I'm, I'm, I'm looking forward to seeing.
- 11:35I don't know how it's going to end up.
- 11:37It's one of those, you know, the last time we saw this in the
- 11:40regular season, Alabama bears, Georgia.
- 11:43But then they turn around and they, you know, Georgia
- 11:46absolutely, you know, literally and figuratively dog walks them
- 11:50in the SEC championship. So this this will be an
- 11:54interesting one to see as as the as we move into next weekend.
- 12:00One of the other games that was actually a really big surprise.
- 12:02Florida going to Mizzou and getting absolutely destroyed by
- 12:09Mizzou. This was probably one of the the
- 12:10biggest shockers of the entire weekend.
- 12:12Like I didn't know what to expect from this.
- 12:16This was one I maybe expected the Gators to kind of have one
- 12:20of those trap games like, oh, we got the big win against Ole
- 12:23Miss. Like we're rolling.
- 12:25Nobody's going to stop us. And this is a Mizzou team.
- 12:28Like, you know, they're kind of sitting here.
- 12:30No, we we need to get a quality win.
- 12:32Like we need to come out of the gate swinging.
- 12:34They did have a heartbreaking loss to Mississippi State, which
- 12:37dropped them down to 25 S, just enough to stay in the ranks.
- 12:42And then Florida comes into town on the road, and they absolutely
- 12:46took off running and they did not stop.
- 12:48And that is both literally and figuratively.
- 12:52If you if you look at the stats here, if you're able to see it
- 12:54on the graphic, Mizzou rushed for 220 yards as to compared to
- 12:59Florida's only 242. Like, yeah.
- 13:03And this is with a guy you know, in Jordan Ball that is supposed
- 13:07to be a Heisman contender. And Mizzou's defense absolutely
- 13:11shut him down with no problem. And this is what they're
- 13:16technically backup running back in Jamal Roberts since Ahmad
- 13:19Hardy is unfortunately still out due to an off the field injury
- 13:23of a gunshot wound. So I mean, this was this was
- 13:28just crazy. It was like something I hadn't
- 13:30seen. I mean, Austin Simmons, it was
- 13:33crazy too. When I watched Austin Simmons
- 13:35last year for old miss. You can just kind of see that
- 13:37something just wasn't clicking. And I don't really know what it
- 13:40was, but it seems like now that he's coming to zoo, he he's a
- 13:44completely different player. And in this game, he went 23 to
- 13:4733140 yards and two touchdowns. And that's insane.
- 13:53And the fact this game didn't have any turnovers either is
- 13:55also kind of crazy when you really sit here and look at it.
- 13:59So this was one that I was I was baffled to see how how badly
- 14:08Florida kind of stumbled against this.
- 14:11But then this also does end up, you know, bringing up the
- 14:13narrative that Brady Quinn brought up two pros in a cup of
- 14:18Joe, I believe yesterday morning.
- 14:20He said, I really don't understand this whole idea of
- 14:24when when you talk about the SEC and you talk about the SEC teams
- 14:27and he's like, oh, their their schedules are just gauntlets.
- 14:30Like, they have all these hard teams to face.
- 14:32And that is true. But you could equally say the
- 14:35same thing for the Big 10, especially with all the teams
- 14:38that are in the Big 10 that are, you know, that are playing well
- 14:41right now, that are playing pretty good football.
- 14:45And although Michigan isn't necessarily playing good
- 14:47football at the moment, you know, Michigan is one of those
- 14:50tough teams on the road. Yes, Ohio State lost to Texas,
- 14:53but they kind of lost, you know, due to their own their own
- 14:57negligence more than anything. But I mean, they took Texas down
- 15:01to the absolute wire and they're considered one of the best teams
- 15:03in the country. You know, Oregon obviously had
- 15:05the trip up against Oklahoma State, but then turned around
- 15:08and beat USC in their in their own stadium.
- 15:12So I mean, they're there, there are tough matchups.
- 15:15And and this is what I think is funny too, is that they always
- 15:20try to make this like, oh man, it's such a gauntlet.
- 15:23Like, no, you still have your quote UN quote cupcake teams in
- 15:27the SEC. Like when you really sit down
- 15:30and you really look at it, it's like, no, you, you can't sit
- 15:33here and tell me that although the SEC is a gauntlet, when you
- 15:37you still have pretty, pretty easy teams to face.
- 15:41Like if you look at the SEC standings right now, right, like
- 15:46out of all 16 teams that are in the SEC, if you look at the
- 15:50bottom part of the conference as far as you know the the records
- 15:56and even the records in SEC play as it stands right now, Auburn,
- 16:01Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Vandy, Arkansas, South Carolina, those
- 16:05are your quote UN quote bottom feeders of the SEC as it stands
- 16:09right now. And here's the crazy part, all
- 16:13the teams listed above them, Alabama, Georgia, Texas,
- 16:16Florida, Kentucky, the only one that Kentucky is the only team
- 16:21not ranked right now on the upper part of this SEC rankings,
- 16:25Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Mizzou, Tennessee.
- 16:28Now part of that a lot of them are ranked because they
- 16:32basically beat up on each other or they quote UN quote have
- 16:35quality losses. But even looking at the Big 10,
- 16:39like the Big 10 is not that far off.
- 16:42Like you have Indiana, Nebraska's undefeated both in
- 16:45the Big 10 and overall. UCLA is number 21 country right
- 16:49now. They got ranked, you know,
- 16:51they're four and O2 and O in the Big 10.
- 16:53Miss Minnesota. Now, they did lose to
- 16:55Mississippi State, but that was also a close game.
- 16:59They're four and one, two and O. The Big 10, Ohio State, 2 and O,
- 17:02They're four and one. Wisconsin is 2 and O, they're
- 17:06four and one. Oregon, USC, Iowa, Northwestern
- 17:10is good. Like they took Indiana down to
- 17:13the absolute wire and they laid a thumping on Penn State.
- 17:16And then after that, OK, you've got Purdue.
- 17:19Not really worried about Purdue, Michigan, but they play tough at
- 17:24home. Penn State little bit of a
- 17:27lackluster start. Not super surprised.
- 17:30One of the quotes that was brought up about Penn State and
- 17:32Michigan, both because they have two former Big 12 coaches, is
- 17:38the fact that, you know, they play like Big 12 coaches in the
- 17:41Big 10, like defence is not a big priority.
- 17:43They try to be a lot more of an offensive fighting team.
- 17:46Michigan, there's a quarter at controversy slash conundrum.
- 17:50So who knows what that is ultimately going to end up
- 17:52looking like in Washington. They play tough against USC now.
- 17:58Illinois has fallen off a little bit.
- 17:59Maryland definitely down to the dumps.
- 18:02Michigan State started off really hot.
- 18:04They've since kind of cooled off and fallen between, you know,
- 18:08having to, you know, deal with Notre Dame, having to deal with
- 18:10Wisconsin. I believe they also faced
- 18:13Nebraska and lost and records just sitting there at the
- 18:18bottom. So I mean, I mean, yes, you can
- 18:21you can argue that the the big 10 is a quote UN quote as deep
- 18:27as the SEC, but the the quality is still there.
- 18:31And I think people also need to realize there are still cupcake
- 18:33teams in both conferences, Like, and it doesn't mean your
- 18:39schedule still doesn't have to be a gauntlet.
- 18:41But you know, don't try to sit here and sell me on something
- 18:44that's just it's not true kind of thing, you know what I mean?
- 18:48But none the less to get off that soapbox, get off that soap
- 18:51opera box. Let's move on to the other big
- 18:54matchup as far as the ACC goes, kind of the kind of the
- 18:58conference, the we get kind of forgotten about.
- 19:00Because you know, for me and I think a lot of other people,
- 19:03when we look at aside from the power to and the SEC, the Big
- 19:0810, it's kind of up to the ACC, the Big 12 as far as who was
- 19:12left over as far as the momentum, as far as getting a
- 19:16lot of teams wanting to join and getting all of those former PAC
- 19:1912 teams in. That I think helped boosted the
- 19:22brand as well. The Big 12 is kind of like the
- 19:25the the third, third man out and then the AC CS just kind of
- 19:29sitting there hoping that they can survive and that the Big 10
- 19:32or SEC doesn't try to poach some of their teams.
- 19:36But I will say for one of the big brands that wants to leave,
- 19:41this game was not a good look for them and that's Clemson.
- 19:46This was really Miami's first Test of the entire season.
- 19:49When you looked at all the teams at Miami play, they pronounce
- 19:52the fact that there was more touchdown passes and there were
- 19:54incompletions for Dairy and Mensa, which it is still
- 20:00considerably remarkable in the fact that you had more
- 20:03touchdowns and incompletions, whether it's against cupcake
- 20:06teams or you know, non power fourteens or not like that.
- 20:09That is still impressive. But, and this is still kind of
- 20:13giving respect to Dabo Sweeney, to Clemson, kind of who they
- 20:16were in the past. This is not the same team that
- 20:21it used to be. It's not kind of the fearful,
- 20:24fearful juggernaut that they used to be back in the day.
- 20:28And they I still feel that when you look at the statistics, I'll
- 20:35be at the score doesn't say so. Clemson actually did really well
- 20:41against this Miami team, both offensively and defensively.
- 20:45And what I mean by that is I'm going to show the show the
- 20:49graphic here, you know, 350 total yards for Clemson.
- 20:55They rushed for 55. They almost threw for 303rd
- 20:59down. They're a little under 50%, but
- 21:02the biggest thing they heard was penalties.
- 21:04I mean, they had 10 penalties for 91 yards, but they also did
- 21:08a really good job as far as containing Malachi Tony.
- 21:12And I mean, he's one that has been widely considered as a as a
- 21:16Heisman favorite a good majority of the season between him.
- 21:21Jeremiah Smith, I think Trinidad Chambles was obviously in that
- 21:25conversation there for a minute. Derry Minson might even be in
- 21:27that conversation. There's a multitude of people
- 21:30and it's always going to be rotating out as the season kind
- 21:34of continues on. But I mean, you can't you can't
- 21:37ask for much more. Now, Miami did kind of have a
- 21:40benefit of, you know, they had a multitude of people running the
- 21:47ball between Mark Fletcher, between JB and Mallory, between
- 21:52dairy and mints. And even Malik, I tell he got a
- 21:54rush in there of almost 20 yards and three touchdowns as a result
- 21:59from all of them, you know, rushing for 192 lost myself
- 22:07there. That's an impressive feat.
- 22:09I mean, I don't care who you are, you know, what type of
- 22:12players you have, who you're facing, to be able to rush for
- 22:14almost 200 yards between, you know, five players is
- 22:18impressive. Even against a Clemson team,
- 22:21while yes, they are, you know, kind of in the dumps, it's still
- 22:26impressive. And here's the other unfortunate
- 22:28part, when you when you look at the stats and I don't have a
- 22:31completely up and in depth, Clemson actually did better than
- 22:3555 yards rushing. Unfortunately for Tate Reynolds,
- 22:39when it comes to sacks it it counts against their rushing.
- 22:45So he had 14 carries for -22 yards because otherwise Chris
- 22:51Johnson, junior had five carries for 32 yards.
- 22:54Gideon Davidson 7 for 25, Jarvis Green 3 for 14.
- 22:58So I mean nothing, nothing really wowing or crazy, but
- 23:02still better than what the what the statistics show.
- 23:05And I mean, they, they had, you know, 2 receivers really go off
- 23:08on this game too. I mean, Bryant Westco, he had 9
- 23:11receptions for 152 yards, no touchdowns, unfortunately.
- 23:16And then Tyler Brown, 10 receptions for 76 yards and no
- 23:19touchdowns. So I mean, they still did fairly
- 23:22well. Now, again, they didn't
- 23:23capitalize when it comes to putting points up and in the end
- 23:27zone. But I mean, overall, this was
- 23:29still a very this is still a good Clemson team.
- 23:34Now, I'm not going to sit here and say that they're that
- 23:38they're going to be the favourites to go in anything.
- 23:40Honestly, compared to Alvarez, the ACC is done this year.
- 23:45I, I don't know who is more than likely going to face Miami for
- 23:50the, for the ACC Championship 'cause it, I, I feel like
- 23:54truthfully, it's just wide open as it stands right now.
- 23:58I believe if the season ended today, you have Miami would be
- 24:05you. You would have Miami in the
- 24:07championship game for the ACC. And then Pitt is actually right
- 24:11behind them with the two and O record in the ACC 5 and O record
- 24:15overall income as as a whole. Duke is right behind them, but
- 24:20they've only played one ACC opponent.
- 24:22SMU is 2 and one. Wake Forest is 2 and one
- 24:26Louisville. Louisville and SMU both are kind
- 24:28of disappointing because I felt like Louisville, if they could
- 24:31stay healthy, Barry, anything crazy, they would be able to
- 24:35especially post the the Ole Miss game.
- 24:37And I think Louisville just kind of got a little bit a little bit
- 24:40too far ahead of themselves. Now they're sitting here at 2:00
- 24:42and 3:00 one and two in the conference.
- 24:46Virginia Tech even had a big slip up.
- 24:48I mean, they lost two pit just recently, but but kind of the
- 24:52same thing. They're one of those I think
- 24:54they are overachieving past where a lot of people probably
- 24:59figure they would be or should be.
- 25:02Virginia got absolutely housed by Florida State, which is
- 25:05another big surprise. And it's funny because looking
- 25:09at their record right now, if, if you would have told me two
- 25:11weeks ago, Florida State's going to be 3 and 1, I would be
- 25:15flabbergasted. Like was not expecting that.
- 25:20Yeah, it is great. Oh, they're three and two.
- 25:23Sorry. I'm looking at their homework.
- 25:24And I'm like, what? It's like they lose to Alabama.
- 25:28And as I mean, like, how did they, how did they lose loss?
- 25:33So I mean, I feel like that it really is up for grabs for
- 25:36whoever wants to face Miami, But but I, I don't think that
- 25:41overall kind of how this conference is done so far is a
- 25:45good look for it moving forward. Like I said, when it comes to,
- 25:51you know, teams now kind of scrambling to get the Big 10,
- 25:53get the SEC and you've got the the four big powerhouses of the
- 25:58ACC in Miami, Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, all
- 26:01wanting to leave. It's it's not a not a good look
- 26:08to start with as a whole for your conference and for your
- 26:10program, especially for, you know, two programs like Clemson
- 26:13and Florida State, who, you know, prior to the last, you
- 26:17know, three years, they were heavy continued, you know,
- 26:20heavyweight contenders like they were, they were spending just as
- 26:24much money putting just as much stuff out there trying to make
- 26:27it happen. And they just, they just
- 26:28weren't. And so it's a little bit of a
- 26:30disappointment, but there is another game I wanted to talk
- 26:34about that I don't think a lot of people would probably even
- 26:37cover. And I wanted to because again,
- 26:43I've I've posed the question on the show before.
- 26:46And again, if if you like what you're hearing, please let me
- 26:48know. If you don't, you know, you can
- 26:50also let me know. You can find me anywhere on
- 26:52social media, inside the Hoosier Miner, wherever you get your
- 26:55podcasts and it's Texas Tech versus Colorado.
- 27:00And there's a couple things that I took away from this game,
- 27:05believe it or not. One I when when is it time to
- 27:12get rid of Deion Sanders? Like, like truthfully and it and
- 27:15it's nothing against Deion. Like I don't I don't have
- 27:17anything against Dean as a person.
- 27:20I've I did kind of like the swagger and kind of this
- 27:25youthful injection and I guess a sense of hope that he brought
- 27:29back to the University of Colorado.
- 27:33But post his sons and Travis Hunter leaving Colorado has just
- 27:39been a huge disappointment. Now, I mean, he has done a lot
- 27:44for the program. I mean, he took over a program
- 27:46that was one at 11 at one point. I mean, they were bad.
- 27:49They were awful. If I remember correctly, he got
- 27:52them three or four wins his first season there with Shidur,
- 27:57with Travis, I think they started out three and one if I
- 28:00remember right. I think they might have finished
- 28:02four and eight and then the next year he goes 9:00 and 4:00.
- 28:06So I mean, huge turn around now we get a lot of that.
- 28:09Shidur had a big year. Travis Hunter wins the Heisman.
- 28:13Shiloh has a pretty good year. So I mean, this was a rough
- 28:16scene that was dangerous, but it was also one of those, this was
- 28:20going to be short lived. Like all of them were coming up
- 28:23to their time of hey, we got to go.
- 28:25We we don't have any eligibility left.
- 28:28And I feel like ever since then, last year it was like, OK, this
- 28:32is kind of your first year. What do you look like post
- 28:34Chidor? It was not a good year.
- 28:38It's just not a good year. And then so far this year, it
- 28:44hasn't been a good year either. Like this has been another
- 28:47really bad year for Colorado and looking at their looking at
- 28:54their sketch. So they started out two and O
- 28:55they got the big win against Georgia Tech, which Georgia Tech
- 28:58is definitely taking a step back.
- 29:01They beat Weber State, not really surprising.
- 29:04Then they lose to Northwestern badly.
- 29:07They lose to Baylor. It would have ended up not being
- 29:10a close, close game at all. They actually benched Julian
- 29:13Lewis, their start, their starting quarterback to be in
- 29:15the season and then they also get thumped by Texas Tech at
- 29:20home. Now they do have a buy this
- 29:23week. So they get a little bit of a
- 29:24chance to maybe re evaluate some things, get some extra practice,
- 29:28get some extra rest. Then they kind of go on another
- 29:31tough, tough stretch. I mean, they they host Utah,
- 29:35they go to Oklahoma State, they host Kansas State, go to Arizona
- 29:38State, they host Houston, they go to Cincinnati and then they
- 29:43finish the season hosting UCF. So I mean, this is like, you
- 29:49know, truly looking at the Big 12 schedule, I don't know if
- 29:55they get a conference win maybe against Cincinnati.
- 29:59I mean, maybe and you can maybe even make an argument for UCF,
- 30:05but that but I, I don't know much about Cincinnati and I
- 30:08don't know enough about UCF to say, you know, those are
- 30:12definitive. But this is just bad.
- 30:15Like this is a bad Colorado team as a whole.
- 30:20I mean, Isaac Wilson comes in, he throws 3 interceptions.
- 30:26Now the offense, the offense was moving.
- 30:29I will, I will give him that. He was making the offense move.
- 30:35But and you know, 375 total yards, it was more than what
- 30:40Texas Tech had. He was throwing the ball 297
- 30:42yards, third down, a little bit of work in the in the turn off
- 30:46versus what really hurts him the most.
- 30:49But, and and this is where I would say more on the on the
- 30:53other side than anything is this is Texas Tech like they're, you
- 31:00know, they're ranked number 12 in the country.
- 31:02And if you look at every single one of Texas Tech's wins, they
- 31:07don't look like the number 12 team in the country right now.
- 31:10And this is no hate to Texas Tech by any stretch of the
- 31:14imagination. I didn't have a dog in the fight
- 31:16when it came to the whole Vernon Soresby thing.
- 31:19I did defend him a little bit. As far as I understand why they
- 31:23were going out as as far out for him as they were.
- 31:27But with the exception of the cupcake teams, I mean, they they
- 31:31struggled against Oregon State, 35 to 24.
- 31:35They struggled against Houston. It was 28 to 26.
- 31:38And they basically stopped Connor Wegman from getting the
- 31:41two point conversion in Houston to potentially send it in
- 31:44overtime. And yeah, you get a, a 29 to
- 31:49seven win over Colorado, but it's not a pretty game.
- 31:54Like it wasn't a pretty game. It it, it doesn't, it doesn't
- 31:58feel like Texas Tech of last year.
- 32:02And I know they lost a lot of guys to the draft and they tried
- 32:05to supplement through draft, through recruiting, they tried
- 32:08to supplement through the transfer portal.
- 32:11But I really just don't feel that anything Texas does or
- 32:16Texas Tech does right now is is like spectacular.
- 32:21Like I can look at some of the other teams like, you know,
- 32:24Alabama, you know, they're their secondary is a little kind of
- 32:28iffy, but I mean, they're they're leading the country in
- 32:30interceptions right now. They are kind of an easy team to
- 32:33run against, but they will also get after you.
- 32:37Their offense is good as far as Keylon Russell because he is
- 32:40definitely a scrambler. You can look at LSU, hell of a
- 32:44defense. Now offensively, there's a
- 32:46little bit of a question mark, but they will also ground and
- 32:48pound, run the ball down your throat kind of mentality.
- 32:52Ohio State, they're absolutely an electric offense between
- 32:56Julian say and Jeremiah Smith. Like they will absolutely hang
- 33:00points up on you. When I look at Texas Tech, it's
- 33:03like, yeah, you're still the favorites to win the Big 12.
- 33:06But I'll be honest, I if, if you win the Big 12 and you get into
- 33:11the playoffs again this year, it it might be just as bad as it
- 33:16was last year when Oregon shut you out on, you know, on their
- 33:20way to face Indiana. Like this was not a good team.
- 33:25And I, I have a ton of questions about the Red Raiders for for
- 33:30this entire season. Now, their schedule isn't as bad
- 33:34because they don't have to really face their their next
- 33:38toughest opponent they have to face isn't until November 14th.
- 33:42They have to go to Oklahoma State.
- 33:45He was definitely called a little bit of fire.
- 33:47And as of right now, they're ranked 18th in the country.
- 33:51But they they, they're on a buy this week and then they host
- 33:55Arizona State. It won't necessarily be easy.
- 33:58They go to Cincinnati, they they host Arizona, they host West
- 34:01Virginia, West Virginia kind of up and down.
- 34:04I mean, they're, they're, they love to run the ball in West
- 34:07Virginia, Oklahoma State game. Then they go on the road to
- 34:10Baylor. And then they finish the season
- 34:12hosting TCU just five days after having to go to Baylor.
- 34:16So again, this, this is one of those teams that I'm sitting
- 34:21here and I'm looking at like I'm like, yeah, you might win the
- 34:25conference. And I'm, I'm going to pick you
- 34:27to win the conference just because I, I don't trust BYU and
- 34:30I've, I've never bought into the BYU hype to be fully transparent
- 34:34with you. But I don't, I don't expect them
- 34:40to go on like deep run. We'll put it that way.
- 34:42If they do manage to win the conference and move forward, I
- 34:46don't expect them to win. Just full transparency, ideal.
- 34:50Now this game, Washington versus USC, this one, this was another
- 34:54one that I left. I kind of left the same way I
- 34:58did last week with the Oregon win against USC.
- 35:02Like, I have a lot of questions, a lot of questions about this
- 35:07USC team because I mean, this, it wasn't like they outright won
- 35:13this one. I mean, it was 14 and 10 at
- 35:15half. Washington was up.
- 35:16USC kind of comes back a little bit.
- 35:19You know, Washington scores again.
- 35:22Then USC kicks the kicks, the field goal to kind of, you know,
- 35:25help secure the lead and force Washington to have to be able to
- 35:29score a touchdown. Washington was really, really
- 35:34close on almost making that win come to fruition.
- 35:40Again, to give you an idea, if you're able to see the graphic
- 35:44up here, you know, Washington was equally doing just as well
- 35:50on offense, both running the ball and passing the ball.
- 35:54Now, third down, Washington was off.
- 35:58They were 1 to 12 on 3rd down, but they were three and a four
- 36:03on 4th down. Like when, when it really
- 36:08mattered most, Washington kind of peeled their ears back and
- 36:11said, OK, we're absolutely going to make this happen.
- 36:15And I, I have to give credit to him.
- 36:19You know, Damond Williams, he was, he was doing everything he
- 36:22could, you know, 15 to 26198 passing yards.
- 36:26And we'll see how much he had rushing 'cause I know he's a
- 36:28runner. He had 26 yards on the ground.
- 36:32Brian Bonner had 89 yards carry as far as rushing goes.
- 36:36So, I mean, they were, they, they were cooking like they were
- 36:41rolling. And USC just seemed like on
- 36:43defense, they did not, they didn't have an answer.
- 36:47And I, I don't know why, I don't know what the issue was.
- 36:51Penalties for both teams really hurt 'cause you had Washington
- 36:5710 penalties for 74 yards, USC 9 penalties for 94.
- 37:04And, and I, I know this was an old PAC 12 rivalry, so it's not
- 37:08like, you know, these teams don't face each other or don't
- 37:12deal with each other a whole lot.
- 37:15But again, it, it's just, there's something about this USC
- 37:19team that I, I just don't understand.
- 37:22I know I'm friends with a couple of USC fans, so maybe they can,
- 37:27maybe they can explain it to me a little bit better because I,
- 37:31I'm not understanding it. But it, it, it's just crazy that
- 37:35a team with this much talent, this much lower this much
- 37:40history. I mean, you think about all the
- 37:43great players that have gone through USC and come through US
- 37:46CS halls, all the Heisman winners, all the national title
- 37:49contenders. And, and they can't get it done
- 37:53in the NIL era where, you know, basically all you gotta do is
- 37:58just outspend everybody and you can make a ton of money.
- 38:01Like really that, that's probably the craziest part to me
- 38:06is it's like, I know you guys have the financial resources.
- 38:08I'm not going to sit here and say you guys are, you know, like
- 38:11an open Piggy Bank. But really like really.
- 38:18And in Washington, I don't expect a whole lot from I I kind
- 38:24of expect them to be a good team this season, but I don't expect
- 38:27them to do you know, I don't expect them to do really
- 38:30anything super crazy. But USC though, I mean, USCA lot
- 38:35of people are sitting here like, man, if you can get through kind
- 38:37of a tough stretch of games, you know, as far as like the big
- 38:40three for college football, like, hey, you, you might have a
- 38:44chance if you're able to get one of those wins.
- 38:47I don't think they do. Obviously, truthfully, I don't
- 38:50think USC gets a big win against any of the big time opponents
- 38:55that they're supposed to face this year.
- 38:56And what I mean by that is, so they travel to Penn State this
- 39:01week. It's a night game.
- 39:02It's Penn State's whiteout game. Rough environment to try to play
- 39:06it. If you're USC on the road, then
- 39:08you have to go to Wisconsin towards the end of October.
- 39:12So a little bit chillier, especially at North.
- 39:14It's going to be cold. Ohio State comes to your house
- 39:18on Halloween night more likely. As long as USC stays ranked,
- 39:23that's going to be a big time game.
- 39:26And with how US CS defense plays, that's going to be ugly.
- 39:30That's going to be a career highlight day, if I had to bet
- 39:33for Julian saying and Jeremiah Smith both.
- 39:37And then you get you get another bye because you then don't have
- 39:41to face Indiana until November 14th, which is great.
- 39:48But you have to come here to Bloomington and Indiana gets
- 39:51cold in November. It gets cold, especially around
- 39:55that time. Then you're lucky you get to
- 39:58host Maryland over here on the East Coast.
- 40:00That should be a win. But then you have to go face
- 40:03UCLA. Now, I know that's, you know,
- 40:05literally right across the street.
- 40:06But it's the UCLA team that even even Dan Lanning has said for
- 40:11Oregon, like, hey, that's our next tough opponent.
- 40:13Like we have to deal with the UUCL A-Team coming into our
- 40:16house and they run the ball. And that, that's a lot of high
- 40:19praise from somebody who has played as much football and has
- 40:23coached as much football. As Dan Lanning has for him to
- 40:27give that type of praise to to to a UCLA team that I think, you
- 40:34know, a lot of people, maybe even myself included, kind of
- 40:37figured we we don't expect anything too crazy from him.
- 40:41That's a lot of high praise. And that says a lot about how
- 40:43this UCLA team is. They have a lot of experience.
- 40:46You know, Bob Chesney coming in, he took over from JMU, similar
- 40:51Curt Signetti story with UCLA, USC, you have to watch out.
- 40:56And I again, I don't expect crazy things from them.
- 40:58I don't think they beat Ohio State and I don't think they
- 41:00beat any in. I think at best they're going to
- 41:03be sitting there at 9:00 to 3:00 and they're going to be sitting
- 41:05on the outside looking in. But that's just me.
- 41:09But let's look forward to this week's coming games.
- 41:14We do have a few big games, nothing too crazy, none that
- 41:19kind of make me, you know, for for kind of a lack of a better
- 41:25term of phrasing, nothing that kind of, you know, tickles my
- 41:28fancy. Like there's some that, you
- 41:30know, they they would be interesting to watch just to
- 41:33kind of see, you know, what ultimately ends up coming up of
- 41:37I don't have it up here on the graphic, but there is Iowa goes
- 41:40to Washington on Friday night, maybe a little interesting, kind
- 41:44of the same Florida State versus Louisville also on Friday night.
- 41:48Don't know how that's going to go, but it'll be, it'll be
- 41:50interesting nonetheless. The big one though, you have for
- 41:54on big nude kick off, you have #7 Indiana going to Lincoln to
- 41:58take on Nebraska. IU is favored by 7 1/2 right
- 42:01now. And, and it definitely seems
- 42:04like IU is starting to they're, they're starting to get in a
- 42:08role. They're starting to kind of feel
- 42:10themselves a little bit more. That Northwestern team, I think
- 42:14that was a combination of they had to, they had to face a big
- 42:18boy team. They had to face their, you
- 42:19know, first true power 4 test. But then Northwestern is also a
- 42:24good team. That's one of those two truths
- 42:26can be, you know, happen at the same time.
- 42:30But then they thumped Rutgers like they thumped Rutgers with
- 42:33no problem. Now, albeit it is Rutgers, it
- 42:36it's still a powerful team. They they thumped them.
- 42:38So I think kind of a combination of both of those get a little
- 42:42bit of learning, get some adjustments made in there to to
- 42:46face Nebraska team who has also done really well.
- 42:50You know, they beat Michigan State pretty heartily and then
- 42:52they they beat Maryland. Now Maryland is coming off of a
- 42:55really embarrassing loss to UCLA.
- 42:58So it's kind of one of those they were kind of expected to do
- 43:01a little bit better 'cause it it's one of those when you have
- 43:04a really bad game like that, it's OK.
- 43:07We got to do better. We're going to do better than
- 43:10what we did. So this is what I'm excited for.
- 43:14Like I said, it's going to be on Big Noon, kick off at 12:00 PM
- 43:16Eastern on Saturday the 10th. One of the other big ones we've
- 43:21got, we've got the Red River rivalry, Texas versus Oklahoma.
- 43:28Kind of the only thing that really sucks about this is the
- 43:30fact that Oklahoma isn't ranked anymore.
- 43:34And so it is still going to get like huge notoriety.
- 43:37I mean, it's in the afternoon slot on ABC as far as you know,
- 43:42the SC CS kind of premier match up.
- 43:45You know, the first one is Texas A and versus Missouri, which
- 43:48will still be good. But you know, the the Red River
- 43:52rivalry is one that it's a it's a classic.
- 43:54Everybody knows it, especially if you're a college football
- 43:56fan. They do have Texas's 8 1/2 point
- 43:59favorites. And and here's The funny thing.
- 44:02I think if there is ever going to be an upset of a upset this
- 44:05weekend, I could see it being this.
- 44:07And the only reason is because of this rivalry.
- 44:11Like any time these two teams face, I don't care who's really
- 44:15good, who's not really good, these teams always come down to
- 44:19the wire. I think I remember, I remember
- 44:22Oklahoma being like very highly ranked.
- 44:24Texas comes in, absolutely shuts them down.
- 44:26I think that was last year actually, if I remember
- 44:28correctly. And then even before Texas has
- 44:32been really highly ranked and Oklahoma just absolutely shuts
- 44:34them down with no problem. Now I don't know how this
- 44:39ultimately will end up going. Like I said at the moment Texas
- 44:44is an 8 1/2 point favorite, which is pretty, pretty
- 44:47respectful. I mean they are considered the
- 44:49number one team in the country, ESP NS matchup predictor gives
- 44:53them an 85% chance of winning to Oklahoma's 15.
- 44:59Now kind of the thing that is a little surprising is Texas
- 45:04hasn't run the ball as well as I think a lot of people, myself
- 45:07included, expected. Hollywood Smothers only has 198
- 45:10rushing yards and he's their season leader.
- 45:13So I'm not going to I don't I don't want to, you know,
- 45:16potentially say, oh, they just can't run the ball like their
- 45:19premier guy, like their number one guy doesn't even have 200
- 45:23rushing yards on the season yet. So like, just just hear me out.
- 45:26You know, albeit they have faced some tough teams as far as
- 45:30having to face Ohio State, having to face Tennessee.
- 45:32So they're not exactly going to run the ball great to start
- 45:35with. Anyway, they're coming off of a
- 45:36bye week after having to face a tough Tennessee team, but we'll
- 45:43we'll also get to see, you know, has Oklahoma fixed things in
- 45:46thereby week because they were off after getting a pretty
- 45:49devastating loss to Georgia. And now do they potentially
- 45:52right to ship against Texas? Does John Metier potentially
- 45:55look like the job Metier that we know and that we've watched, you
- 45:59know, for the last two seasons at least at Oklahoma?
- 46:04Does he look like something that's reminiscent of a former
- 46:08Heisman front runner? I think, I think this game will
- 46:11be probably that big that that true deciding moment of whether
- 46:17he is or whether he is. So this, this will be exciting
- 46:22again, one that I don't think is going to get as much notoriety
- 46:25as it probably should #21 UCLA does go to Oregon.
- 46:30That's going to also be at the 3/30 3:30 PM time slot on CBS.
- 46:38That's going to be pretty good. Now, this is also kind of crazy
- 46:40because they have, they have Oregon only 11 1/2 point
- 46:44favorites. And I say only, and I, I don't
- 46:48mean for that to be like mean or disrespectful, but, but I'm
- 46:52like, really, you're like, you're not going to make this a
- 46:55little bit closer. And I, and I only say that
- 46:57because of a, a combination of how poorly Oregon is played
- 47:03because they, they haven't played up to expectations.
- 47:05And this was something that we even saw last year, you know,
- 47:08out of Clemson, out of Penn State, out of LSU.
- 47:11Like they were all teams that came back very heavily
- 47:13experienced, a lot of, you know, seniors and juniors coming to
- 47:17have a ton of playing experience.
- 47:19And they were all super underwhelming.
- 47:24And so it's like I sit here and I look at that and I'm like, Are
- 47:28you sure that's what you want to do?
- 47:30Are you sure you you only want to give that?
- 47:33And this is UCLAS kind of first true test too.
- 47:35Like they haven't faced anybody, right?
- 47:37They haven't faced anybody really tough.
- 47:40And then they have to go to a tough Eugene OR environment to
- 47:43face the Ducks, who are going to be kind of rallying.
- 47:46And you know, they're they're happy that they they got the win
- 47:50against USC on the road and are kind of back in the driver's
- 47:53seat as far as all right, We we still have a chance.
- 47:55We can still potentially go to the playoffs don't know about
- 47:58the big 10 championship yet. You know, that's kind of be kind
- 48:01of up in the air depending on how the rest of the season goes,
- 48:03but none the less they'll like they you know they're the the
- 48:08door isn't shut on them yet. So this this will be one I'm I'm
- 48:12kind of excited for to be honest with you, because it'll be it's
- 48:16one of the it's an interesting game more than anything, of
- 48:21course, because I do have a little bit of bias.
- 48:23We have LSU at Kentucky as well on at 7:00 PM.
- 48:28Now this is interesting because I remember when I was making the
- 48:31graphics yesterday about this, I was I was looking at the line.
- 48:36So the I don't know why the match up predictor has it.
- 48:40Is it this is kind of insulting really to Kentucky like
- 48:43truthfully and somebody who's not a Kentucky fan.
- 48:46This is insulting to Kentucky like and they have they have LSU
- 48:50as a 75% favorite in the match of predictor to win the game
- 48:55according to ESP and analytics and obviously analytics only
- 48:58goes so far. OK, so here here it is so they
- 49:02opened initially the game odds was 10 1/2 LSU.
- 49:06It's now since gone up. It's now since dropped.
- 49:11It's LSU is favoured by native 8 1/2.
- 49:13So a little over a touchdown we which is kind of crazy because
- 49:20one LSU took Alabama again to the ropes in the first half.
- 49:24Now, albeit second-half was a completely totally different
- 49:27story. But I mean, they they had them
- 49:30dead to right to the water. Now they got cocky, they got a
- 49:32little bit cute and that ultimately ended up, you know,
- 49:35biting them in the butt. But that that's not something
- 49:39you should really it's not something that you should
- 49:42really, you know, you know, you know, kind of Slough at or, you
- 49:48know, just brush off. And I do kind of feel bad for
- 49:52Kentucky too, because they got, no, it did end up having to come
- 49:57to the wire as far as how they face South Carolina again, a
- 50:00South Carolina team that they were playing hard.
- 50:03I mean, their coaches in question, the, the, the team as
- 50:07itself is a mess. Lenore Sellers just hasn't
- 50:09seemed to progress the way that we wanted him to, especially
- 50:12considering at one point he was going to be a very highly touted
- 50:15draft pick. You have the stud speed wide
- 50:18receiver in Nick Harbor. You have Dylan Stewart on the
- 50:20edge, who initially he was suspended, I believe
- 50:24indefinitely. And then between South Carolina
- 50:27and the SEC, they collaborated. They suspended him for one game,
- 50:29I believe it was this game against Kentucky.
- 50:32So I believe he is eligible to come back the following game.
- 50:36I don't know if he will, but he is, I believe eligible.
- 50:41But kind of the disrespect to Kentucky, though, is what's
- 50:44really surprising me because I mean, they went down to Texas
- 50:47A&M. Now again, albeit Texas Stadium
- 50:49is hurt. They're they have their own
- 50:50struggles. They beat them in their home.
- 50:55But to have to give LSU that much credit?
- 50:58Now, again, I love LSU, but I I'm a very skeptical and
- 51:02cautiously optimistic LSU fan 'cause I mean, Minchi. 11
- 51:08touchdowns to one pick, he's thrown about 1150 yards.
- 51:14So I mean pretty damn good for five games in the season.
- 51:18And then Levitt still, Oh my God, Levitt still worries me to
- 51:21no end. He's thrown for over 1200 yards.
- 51:25He has 8 passing touchdowns, 7 picks.
- 51:30I don't know if it's eight passing touchdown.
- 51:31I'm gonna double check. It says he has 8 touchdowns, 7
- 51:34picks. He hasn't really thrown 8
- 51:36touchdown passing. Is that really true?
- 51:39I'm gonna see here that's 123, 678, OK.
- 51:48Oh yeah, he has thrown 48 touchdowns.
- 51:51OK. And he's rushed 46.
- 51:54OK, So he's 14 total touchdowns to 7 interceptions, which Oh my
- 52:00God, dude. Like I I watched the game
- 52:03against McNeese State and you can still see he's in the he's
- 52:07in like the calf's like the calf boot to like help us calf
- 52:10because his leg was injured. I didn't even think he was going
- 52:13to start it. Honestly, I figured they might
- 52:16just have Landon Clark start the entire time he ended up playing.
- 52:21Dude, I was so terrified of this and it's like, why?
- 52:26I don't understand why, but they they have to go to Kentucky,
- 52:32which I don't think will be easy.
- 52:34They have to host Mississippi State won't be easy.
- 52:37They go to Auburn, which you know, for all things that is
- 52:40Auburn. It is a little, little weird
- 52:42when it comes to them. And then the last three games,
- 52:47well, three of the last four games are brutal of host
- 52:50Alabama, host Texas, go to Tennessee all within three
- 52:53weeks. So so this is a game they they
- 52:57do have to win it, especially if they want to have potential room
- 53:01for error for maybe tripping up in one of those games.
- 53:04Maybe they trip up in all of it and they only end up finishing
- 53:07like 8 four. It's very possible it is going
- 53:10to be a better season than last year, but I think the
- 53:14expectations are are very high. And it it also kind of sucks
- 53:18because LSU has a few key injuries and with weeks and
- 53:23trade as green, I mean, they're if they can do one thing, they
- 53:27can run the ball. I mean, Dylan Jones is sitting
- 53:29here 94 carries over 400 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the
- 53:34five games LSU has played winning Watkins transferred over
- 53:38from old miss 23 receptions, 354 yards and two touchdowns.
- 53:43So, so this is one that I, I'll be watching because I'm an LSU
- 53:47fan, but it this, this game definitely makes me, makes me a
- 53:52little, little worried. And of course, the big marquee
- 53:56match up that everybody's going to be watching that everybody's
- 53:58going to want to know what's going to happen.
- 54:01And I may be out with friends during this game, which may or
- 54:05may not be a good thing as this happens #2 Georgia goes to
- 54:09Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama. And I want to get the actual
- 54:14what the line is. I believe, if I remember reading
- 54:17just a just a few minutes ago, I think it's Alabama by only a
- 54:22point and 1/2 it is it's only Alabama by a point and a half.
- 54:27ESPNESPN is giving Alabama about a 53 percent chance of winning
- 54:33according to their their analytics.
- 54:37Like I said earlier, this this is one we we excuse me, we kind
- 54:41of get to see what does, what does Georgia look like against
- 54:45the true test. Now again, they beat Alabama
- 54:48extremely badly in the SEC Championships.
- 54:51Maybe Alabama tries to have a little bit of a revenge game
- 54:54there. I do think one of the advantages
- 54:57that Georgia might have is because Keylon Russell is
- 55:01starting now as even though I'm an LSU fan and I have very known
- 55:06biased against, against Alabama as a whole, Keylon Russell has
- 55:14played better than what I thought he would.
- 55:18He's sitting here what, five games into the season, he's
- 55:21thrown for over 1400 yards, 11 touchdowns, 2 picks.
- 55:25That's just passing. Rushing wise, he has, it was
- 55:30quite a bit of yards. Now Kentucky, he couldn't run
- 55:33the ball at all. He has 86 against ECU, 56
- 55:37against Florida State, 35 against South Carolina.
- 55:39Mississippi State didn't really let him scramble or run much
- 55:42either. So, yeah, I mean, he's got a
- 55:44little over just quick maths, maybe just under 200 yards,
- 55:50maybe right at about 204 rushing touchdowns on top of the 11
- 55:55passing touchdowns that he's got.
- 55:57And he's completing about 71% of his passes.
- 55:59So I mean, he's doing, I mean, as as well as you can say he's
- 56:03doing better than what I thought.
- 56:06I, I thought he struggled a lot against CCU and I'll be that was
- 56:10kind of his first game kind of getting his feet underneath him.
- 56:14And he, he got better against Kentucky, He got better against
- 56:17Florida State. He got really good against South
- 56:19Carolina and then he did really well against Mississippi State.
- 56:24But but this will be his first true test.
- 56:25This will be a true test against a very good, very blunted
- 56:29Georgia defense. And, and this is also a defense
- 56:32that when a lot of people are sitting here looking at both
- 56:36Alabama and Georgia, both people were sitting here saying it, it
- 56:40could really go either way as far as you know, who has, who
- 56:46has the best secondary in college football as it sits
- 56:48right now. So I, this is one I'm I'm
- 56:52excited for. I'm always going to be pretty
- 56:55against Alabama because I always want them to lose.
- 56:59But I, I do want to see what ultimately how this ends up.
- 57:04I think. And as much as I hate to say it,
- 57:08but I unfortunately feel like I would be correct in saying it,
- 57:10that if Alabama wins, this will 1000% give the AP poll voters a
- 57:17reason to Volt them into Volt them into the the number one
- 57:23spot in the in the rankings. Which to me will be just just
- 57:28absolutely crazy in in my personal opinion.
- 57:31That's just me. Nonetheless, though, I
- 57:33appreciate everybody tuning in, appreciate everybody watching.
- 57:35I absolutely love and appreciate all of that.
- 57:39If you liked it, please like, share, subscribe, tell a friend,

- 57:46inside the who's your mind or wherever you get your podcast
- 57:48again, good, bad and different Doesn't have to be anything
- 57:50super long, doesn't have to be anything super great to you.
- 57:53It helps me out again. I don't get paid for this.
- 57:57This is just one of those. I love doing it as a hobby.
- 57:59I love talking about sports. It's probably my most favorite
- 58:01thing to do. And again, a big shout out to
- 58:04military broadcast Radio for helping give me this platform,
- 58:08helping, helping me do all this, helping me teach so much.

- 58:40and probably imagine. And I know it's probably really
- 58:42scary to start with, but I promise it's a ton of fun.
- 58:46And also a big shout out to Gunfighter Beard Company.
- 58:48Appreciate everything he does. Like I said, he's a Marine out
- 58:50of South Carolina, does all of his own products at home, does
- 58:54everything basically out of his home there in South Carolina on
- 58:57top of being a dad, on top of being a husband.
- 58:59So he he is also absolutely killing it.
- 59:01I appreciate him for letting me put his logo associated with the
- 59:06show, but I appreciate everybody tuning in.
