- 0:00Hi everyone, welcome to Mini Scroll, the daily Internet
- 0:04culture podcast bringing you the biggest stories from social
- 0:07media, the creator economy and the digital space every Monday
- 0:11through Thursday. I'm your host, Lauren Meisner,
- 0:14the founder of the youth digital media brand Centennial World.
- 0:19Welcome back to Mini Scroll, everyone.
- 0:22OK, I'm recording this right before the Grammys.
- 0:25That's just like my cross to bear living in Australia is our
- 0:30work day is smack in the middle of every single award show.
- 0:34So I will cover any like notable Grammys moments tomorrow.
- 0:39But for today, I still have three stories for you guys.
- 0:42And the first story that I have for you guys is an update from
- 0:46my Chiara Ferragni. Sorry, I actually was told I
- 0:49said it wrong. Chiara Ferragni.
- 0:52I think somebody said it's like lasagna and I was like, what?
- 0:56But I think they're trying to say the G asylum, Ferrani
- 1:00probably, I don't know, I'm sorry, I'm butchering that.
- 1:02And Fetas. So Fetas has now responded to
- 1:06claims that he had an affair on Chiara the entirety of their
- 1:10marriage. In case you missed it very high
- 1:12level, a paparazzo and alleged friend of Fetas is named
- 1:17Fabrizio Corona made an expose on YouTube claiming that Fetas
- 1:21had a six year long affair with a 26 year old woman.
- 1:25So Chiara is a big Italian influencer, one of the first
- 1:29ever fashion influencers, and Fetas is an Italian rapper.
- 1:33So this claim LED Chiara to speak out and seemingly confirm
- 1:38this on her Instagram stories. She also claims that Fetas was
- 1:42on the phone with his mistress minutes before their wedding and
- 1:45would have left Chiara at the altar if his mistress just said
- 1:48the word. OK, so first, I actually have a
- 1:51lot of Italian listeners and I'm so glad because I got comments
- 1:55and messages giving me like more contacts into the whole
- 1:58situation. So the main 2 takeaways.
- 2:01The first is that Corona is like the Perez Hilton of Italy, which
- 2:06I think actually gave me a lot of insight because I kept saying
- 2:11I don't know if you guys remember in last week's episode,
- 2:13like why would this man who was like quote UN quote friends with
- 2:16feta's like release this? Like I'm so confused and giving
- 2:20the comparison to Perez Hilton. I think all of us can understand
- 2:24what that means. Second, I got messages telling
- 2:28me to look into the festival of San Remo when Kiara hosted.
- 2:32Again, I'm sure I'm saying San Remo wrong San Remo?
- 2:35San Remo. So I don't know.
- 2:37I'm sorry. So I actually did see something
- 2:39about Fedez kissing someone on stage at this festival during my
- 2:43original research last week. But I didn't really understand
- 2:46why it had significance because from what I could tell, it was
- 2:51like him and this other guy kissing at an award show on
- 2:54stage. It kind of just gave me like
- 2:57punk rock, like Madonna, Britney Spears energy.
- 3:01I didn't realize that it was like a thing, but apparently
- 3:04this turned into a thing. Actually, I shouldn't just I
- 3:07shouldn't minimize the Britney Spears Madonna kiss because that
- 3:11really did turn into a thing. But I met more like I didn't
- 3:13realize that it would be a thing for like fetas and Kiara like
- 3:16and their relationship. So what I gather was this was a
- 3:19huge night for Kiara. She was hosting this event for
- 3:22television. I think it was like her TV
- 3:24debut. So it was a really big deal that
- 3:26she was asked to Co host this and Fetas basically ruined the
- 3:30night for her by stealing the spotlight in a variety of ways,
- 3:33including this kiss. So there was also apparently a
- 3:37clip going around after this kiss of what seems like Kiara,
- 3:41like, at the award show still right after it, like berating or
- 3:45scolding Fetez obviously for, like, ruining her night,
- 3:48stealing the spotlight. And it led to a lot of
- 3:52speculation about what was going on in their relationship.
- 3:56And Fetez apparently, just, like, let that narrative in the
- 3:59press run free. So this is actually directly
- 4:02from their reality show. Again, it's translated.
- 4:04So Chiara said in that week, I was nervous above all about what
- 4:08he could do. I was afraid he would do
- 4:10something that would destabilize me, too.
- 4:12I asked him the same day to be there for me without doing
- 4:15anything that might upset me. He told me yes.
- 4:17And then of course, it didn't. As a life partner and as a
- 4:19partner, I wanted his support. I'm sorry that on an emotional
- 4:22level, those who were supposed to reassure me made me even more
- 4:26afraid. I don't think he completely
- 4:29understood how upset I was, how shocking it was for me.
- 4:32It hurt me even more than I could have imagined.
- 4:35I was angry, sad and disappointed.
- 4:37It was difficult to return to that stage with a smile.
- 4:40OK, so now, following Chiara's Instagram stories from last
- 4:43week, Feta's has responded with his own stories he wrote.
- 4:46The idea that I would have thought about leaving my wife on
- 4:49our wedding day to run away to the other side of Italy is
- 4:52simply ridiculous. I chose Chiara with conviction.
- 4:55I loved her, I married her without hesitation, and we built
- 4:58to family together despite our differences.
- 5:00She will always be important to me because she is the mother of
- 5:02my children. I met Angelica a few months
- 5:05before the wedding, and we distanced ourselves to focus on
- 5:07our own lives. I reconnected with her during a
- 5:09moment of personal difficulty without any premeditated plan,
- 5:13at a time when my marriage had already faced deep crises that
- 5:16we weren't able to resolve even after trying.
- 5:19When Angelica decided to end our relationship, among the many
- 5:22mistakes I made, I shared my thoughts with Fabrizio and a
- 5:25mutual friend of theirs. A foolish act in a moment of
- 5:28weakness and vulnerability for which I am facing the
- 5:31consequences. But I reject any theories of
- 5:33conspiracies or manipulations. I tried to contain these rumors
- 5:37in every possible way. Rumors that I would point out
- 5:40are actually harmful to me. I've never been a St.
- 5:43But our private life cannot be an excuse to create narratives
- 5:46or to divert attention from other matters.
- 5:49None of this is doing any good for anyone.
- 5:51Not for Chiara, not for me, not for the other people involved.
- 5:55Today I'm putting an end to this.
- 5:56I made mistakes. I paid for them, and I will
- 5:58continue to pay. Maybe I've learned a little.
- 6:01I'm stepping away from a way of presenting myself that no longer
- 6:04feels like me, and maybe never really did.
- 6:07I know how this game works. I was a part of it for years.
- 6:09Now I'm focusing on myself and my children.
- 6:12I'll leave the rest to those who need this kind of spectacle as
- 6:16much as possible. I want to choose reality.
- 6:18I just think it's rich when anyone you know, who is like in
- 6:24the public eye, who he has been trying to be famous, that's just
- 6:29like part of the gig. And you know, he married the
- 6:33most famous influencer in his country.
- 6:36He has been, as I said last week, apparently he is more
- 6:39famous, more respected than Kiara was at the time of them
- 6:42getting together. I just like hate when famous
- 6:47people, whether their influencers, celebrities would
- 6:49ever get on their high horse about fame.
- 6:51I understand fame would suck. Like I completely understand
- 6:54that the perils of fame would be so intense.
- 6:57However, I hate when they get on their high horse about it.
- 7:00He's like, I know how this game works.
- 7:02I was part of it for years. I'll leave the rest to those who
- 7:06need this kind of spectacle. OK buddy, you needed this kind
- 7:09of spectacle for years to build the life and career that you
- 7:14have. You can't chase fame.
- 7:17And then once you get it, be like, I'm too good for this.
- 7:19I hate when celebrities do that. It's like biting the hand that
- 7:24feeds you. That's what it feels like to me.
- 7:26But yes he is claiming I guess that but he did have an affair
- 7:30like he is admitting it seems like to having an affair.
- 7:32I guess he's saying it didn't start as soon as Kiara and
- 7:36Corona are saying. And now I only just saw this so
- 7:40it's not in my notes. But now I saw and I haven't fact
- 7:43checked this because I literally just saw while I was sitting
- 7:45down. But now apparently Kiara is
- 7:47suing Corona, the one who obviously released all of this
- 7:50€1,000,000 and he replied, no one can censor us.
- 7:56OK. I don't know if that's a hill
- 7:58that Corona needs to die on. Like I don't just it's OK.
- 8:03It doesn't even impact your life as far as I know.
- 8:06I think just like chill out, these people have kids.
- 8:09I feel so bad for Kiara. It's just a mess.
- 8:12So I actually hope that all of this gets taken offline.
- 8:16I presume it will, although like Corona keeps being like I'm
- 8:19going to release episode like 5 or something.
- 8:21He's done like multi parts to this.
- 8:24It's giving obsessed. I don't know, I don't really
- 8:28understand. I mean, I guess like the
- 8:30comparison to Press Hilton was helpful because I feel like
- 8:32Press Hilton might do something as unhinged as this, but it's
- 8:36just like wild. I don't know, it's unhinged.
- 8:40OK. The next story that I have for
- 8:41you guys is that Iris Law has been called out by a server as
- 8:45the rudest customer she's ever had.
- 8:47Iris Law was called out on Twitter this weekend for being
- 8:51an alleged nightmare restaurant guest.
- 8:54Iris is the daughter of Jude Law and Sadie Frost and I would say
- 8:58she's probably one of the biggest up and coming like new
- 9:03Gen. Z Napo baby models that we have
- 9:05seen in the last like couple of years.
- 9:07OK, so over the weekend a Twitter user at Madison Tate
- 9:12under score wrote. When I tell you this right here
- 9:15is the nastiest bitch I've ever served in my life.
- 9:19And she had quote tweeted a photo of Iris Law.
- 9:22She continued. We hate a mean spirited doesn't
- 9:24pay her check. Do you know who my father is?
- 9:27Ass bitch. Let it be known I've served
- 9:29Rupert Murdoch, Paul Ryan, Steve Bannon, the Kushners, Jeff
- 9:33Bezos, et cetera, and all of whom had better manners and were
- 9:36at the very least more polite than this cunt.
- 9:39Like none of them started screaming and throwing a tantrum
- 9:41in the restaurant. And then somebody asked, did she
- 9:44tip? And she wrote, oh, she didn't
- 9:46even pay her bill. So Iris has now responded on
- 9:49TikTok basically saying this is a complete fabrication.
- 9:53It's literally fan fiction story.
- 9:56I guys come on. So someone's saying that I
- 10:00caught up in the middle of a meal and didn't pay and screamed
- 10:04and said, do you know who I am? And because I didn't like the
- 10:08dessert menu desserts because that's kind of funny, but it's
- 10:11completely made-up. It's 2:00 AM.
- 10:13I've literally been having a meltdown about this because now
- 10:17everyone thinks I'm horrible and now it's going viral.
- 10:21It's not even like someone found out someone was cheating or like
- 10:25someone found out someone wasn't paying taxes.
- 10:26Someone finding out something bad that you did.
- 10:29Like I literally didn't do this. I'm interested if any of you
- 10:34guys have worked in the service industry and have served like
- 10:37celebrities or big names or anyone like that because I'm
- 10:40actually really surprised that they're saying she didn't pay
- 10:43her bill. I feel like a celebrity being a
- 10:46nightmare, sure. Being rude, sure.
- 10:48Being entitled, sure, But being like, do you know who my dad is?
- 10:51I should get this entire meal for free.
- 10:53I've actually never heard that before and that would surprise
- 10:56me. But I am interested to hear what
- 10:59you guys think if you guys have any experience in that space.
- 11:02OK, And the last story that I have for you guys is a TikTok
- 11:04trend. I haven't talked about a TikTok
- 11:06trend in a while, but I think that this is really relevant to
- 11:09a lot of our listeners. So there's this new like Gen.
- 11:12Z, like corporate talk trend going on.
- 11:14I know we have so many, I say this every time I cover a trend,
- 11:17but like we have a lot of social media managers that have
- 11:19listened to this pod. So I think it could be relevant
- 11:21for you guys. I don't know if this trend
- 11:23necessarily has a name yet, but it's basically where workplaces
- 11:26or companies are posting slideshows of members of their
- 11:29team as children. So like, funny kids, pictures of
- 11:33them from like the 90's, the early 2000s.
- 11:36Some of them are like early 20 tens, which is giving me a
- 11:39little bit of trauma as I sit here at 33 years old.
- 11:43And on the photos, they will have captions and they'll say,
- 11:46like our marketing assistant in 2010 when she should have been
- 11:50studying the TikTok algorithm or our HR manager in 2006 when she
- 11:54should have been looking at ways to boost company morale.
- 11:57And it's like a kid, right? These slideshows are always set
- 12:00to the Nicki Minaj verse in David Guetta's Wear Them where
- 12:03all that. And I mean, people are doing
- 12:05these not just for like corporate talk, but I think it's
- 12:07really funny the way that corporate talk is using this
- 12:10particular trend. And it's similar to those memes
- 12:13where people will be like, why was IA baby in 2003 when I
- 12:17should have been saving for a house or whatever?
- 12:19It's like similar vibes, but it's funny to show the team, you
- 12:23know, share their roles and kind of I guess what they're like a
- 12:26number one, I suppose, like challenge is in the workplace is
- 12:30like what this is also kind of like exposing quote UN quote.
- 12:34I think it's funny. I like them.
- 12:36I don't know if that's just like super millennial of me.
- 12:39No, I think they're funny, they're cute, and I think
- 12:41they're like a wholesome good way to create like EGC content
- 12:46without, you know, asking your employees to be part of like a
- 12:51skid or to partake in some trend that could be taken wrong.
- 12:55You know, I think this is like a pretty neutral one in the scheme
- 12:59of things. And no, I feel like I'm going to
- 13:01get a comment or two because you guys know I don't believe in
- 13:03children online. I think it's different when it's
- 13:05your own personal baby photos online.
- 13:08I do not support when parents are posting their children
- 13:12online because they can't consent to that.
- 13:14So that's the difference there. All right, guys, well, that's it
- 13:17for mini scroll today. Thank you so much for listening.
- 13:19I'd love you guys. Please rate, review and
- 13:21subscribe anywhere you listen Spotify, Apple, YouTube.
- 13:26Please leave us a comment subscribe.
- 13:28I love you guys and I will talk to you tomorrow.
- 13:30Bye.
