SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Cover Four Showdown for week seven.
• 0:33
SPEAKER_00: This week we head to Tyoga for a matchup featuring the Groton Red Hawks and the Tyoga Tigers.
• 0:40
SPEAKER_00: Groton comes in ranked number tied for 15th in New York State, and they have a 5-1 record and they bring in a powerful scoring attack and a stingy defense.
• 0:51
SPEAKER_00: Tyoga comes in ranked 7th in New York State and sits at 4-2 and is on a four-game win streak.
• 0:58
SPEAKER_00: The game is scheduled for Friday at Tyoga's Haggerty Field with a 7 o'clock kickoff.
• 1:04
SPEAKER_00: Let's get this game covered.
• 1:06
SPEAKER_00: I'll begin with the Tioga Tigers, led by head coach Jake Howland.
• 1:11
SPEAKER_00: The Tigers began the season uncharacteristically with two losses, but have rattled off four straight wins.
• 1:18
SPEAKER_00: Last week, the Tigers won in convincing fashion, 43-12 over a very good Watkins-Glen Odessa Monteur team.
• 1:27
SPEAKER_00: Tioga football is typical Tiger football.
• 1:31
SPEAKER_00: Physical, built around the power running game and backed by a solid defense.
• 1:38
SPEAKER_00: Coach Holland's approach is simple.
• 1:40
SPEAKER_00: Pound the ball and control the game.
• 1:43
SPEAKER_00: This is what I call keep away.
• 1:46
SPEAKER_00: Tyoga would predominantly run the ball, which keeps the clock running and minimizes Groton's time of possession, thereby keeping their high-powered offense off the field.
• 1:57
SPEAKER_00: Some student athletes watch for Tioga is senior Derek Mills, who's an all-state lineman and is a key student athlete in the Tiger success up front.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_00: Tyoga's ground game leaders against Watkins Glenn or Dussamontur were Shane Platukas, who rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns, while Max Stodder gained 116 yards and scored one TD.
• 2:24
SPEAKER_00: Senior quarterback Jackson Bombard completed five of six passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.
• 2:32
SPEAKER_00: Tyoga's defensive playmaker is freshman Carson Labor.
• 2:36
SPEAKER_00: He recorded two interceptions in the game against Watkins Glenodessa Montour.
• 2:41
SPEAKER_00: And Tyoga outgained Watkins Glenodessa Monteur 411 to 205 yards and controlled the time of possession for more than 37 minutes, something that they want to try to do against Groton.
• 2:54
SPEAKER_00: Tyoga enters with momentum after winning their last four games.
• 2:59
SPEAKER_00: Can the Tigers slow Groton's scoring attack and make this a four-quarter game?
• 3:04
SPEAKER_00: Tyoga needs to start fast and avoid playing from behind.
• 3:10
SPEAKER_00: They need to limit Groton's explosive play capability, and they need another strong offensive performance at home.
• 3:18

SPEAKER_00: Now, back to the episode.
• 5:00
SPEAKER_00: Now for the Groton Red Hawks, led by head coach Nick Dyson.
• 5:05
SPEAKER_00: The Red Hawks opened the season with four consecutive wins.
• 5:09
SPEAKER_00: They scored 46 points or more each of those first four games.
• 5:14
SPEAKER_00: And then after an 8-36 loss to Watkins Glenn Odessa Montor, Groton bounced back, shutting out Spencer Benhattan Cander 38-0.
• 5:25
SPEAKER_00: The Redhawks have put up some really eye-popping numbers this season.
• 5:30
SPEAKER_00: 286 points scored and just 79 allowed.
• 5:35
SPEAKER_00: That is a point differential of plus 207.
• 5:38
  SPEAKER_00: You do the math.
• 5:40
SPEAKER_00: Groton is averaging nearly 48 points per game while allowing just under 13.
• 5:45
  SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, just over 13.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_00: Groton's average margin of victory is 34.5 points per game over their six games.
• 5:54
  SPEAKER_00: Those are compelling numbers.
• 5:56
SPEAKER_00: That tells us this is not simply an offense that can score.
• 5:59
SPEAKER_00: The Redhawks have been getting the job done on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
• 6:04
SPEAKER_00: Can Groton find a way to stop Tyoga's physical ground game?
• 6:08
SPEAKER_00: Or will the Tigers continue to control the line of scrimmage and strengthen their hold on Division VI?
• 6:14
SPEAKER_00: Can Groton's high-powered offense and stingy defense overcome Tioga's physical style of football?
• 6:21
SPEAKER_00: Or will the Tigers protect their unbeaten Division VII record?
• 6:26
SPEAKER_00: Groton brings the stronger win-loss record and an offense that has demonstrated the ability to score in bunches.
• 6:34
SPEAKER_00: Grotten needs to establish their offense early and avoid turnovers and costly penalties.
• 6:41
SPEAKER_00: They must prove they can produce against Tioga after dominating several earlier opponents.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_00: This game boils down to Groton's exceptional point differential versus Tyoga's unbeaten division record.
• 6:54
SPEAKER_00: And I have two questions.
• 6:56
SPEAKER_00: One, can Tioga slow down Groton's offense, or will the Redhawks continue putting up video game type points?
• 7:04
SPEAKER_00: The second question, will Groton's defense hold up against the Tigers ground and pound offense?
• 7:11
SPEAKER_00: These are two programs, one important Friday night showdown.
• 7:16
SPEAKER_00: This brings us to the end of the Cover 4 showdown episode.
• 7:20
