- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time for Stacks and Hacks. I have stacks of
- 0:02Speaker 1: information and Rich has life hacks. And my information is really, really,
- 0:05Speaker 1: really interesting. For example, there have never been more than
- 0:08Speaker 1: six living presidents at one point in American history. And
- 0:12Speaker 1: right now there are five.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and
- 0:16Speaker 2: Joe Biden. Interesting.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Many people prefer texting to just about everything else, right?
- 0:21Speaker 1: You don't want to make phone calls and stuff. But
- 0:23Speaker 1: now millennials like to add the LOL or haha.
- 0:28Speaker 2: So the Gen Zers are.
- 0:30Speaker 1: over lol and they have ideas they said hey please
- 0:34Speaker 1: stop using lol can you come up with something.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Else no i'm not even a millennial And no. Sometimes
- 0:42Speaker 3: LOL just sort of like makes it less serious.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Just so you know, this isn't like an aggressive text.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Like an LOL and a laughing emoji are the same.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Can't you just put the ha-ha on the end of
- 0:53Speaker 4: the text?
- 0:53Speaker 1: That's what they're saying to get rid of it. Gen
- 0:55Speaker 1: Z is calling on millennials. No more disingenuous LOLs. How
- 0:58Speaker 1: about L-A-L?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Laughed a little.
- 1:01Speaker 5: No.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I feel like that's why Gen Z, like that's why
- 1:04Speaker 3: we get a bad rep all the time.
- 1:06Speaker 4: L-I-M-H. What's L-I-M-H?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Laughed. Inside my head.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:13Speaker 2: A-Y-F. Are you flirting?
- 1:15Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Or I-S-T. I'm screenshotting this. So anyway, those are some
- 1:21Speaker 1: of the things that they have, the Gen Zers have
- 1:23Speaker 1: issues with.
- 1:24Speaker 4: We got to, like, study up on that. That's a lot.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Seattle's annual spider season has arrived. It's driven primarily by
- 1:31Speaker 1: mature male giant house spiders who are actively searching for
- 1:36Speaker 1: mates indoors.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So now Seattle's got spiders all inside their house.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Pass.
- 1:43Speaker 1: 32% of Americans now believe that social media influencing qualifies
- 1:46Speaker 1: as a legitimate career. 52% do not. I do not
- 1:49Speaker 1: think it's a career. 33% say they would not support
- 1:51Speaker 1: their kid if they wanted to major in social media.
- 1:53Speaker 2: But you can. There's people making millions of dollars.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:55Speaker 4: It is very lucrative for a lot of people.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I interviewed a girl on my highly successful John J.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Van Ness podcast. It was making 80 grand a month
- 2:02Speaker 1: off TikTok. I interviewed Matt Peterson the other day, making
- 2:05Speaker 1: way beyond that monthly. And he is making a very
- 2:09Speaker 1: good living for himself in New York. So it is
- 2:11Speaker 1: a career. So I don't know how you can.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Say it's not.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Haters.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Woman in Australia is going viral for sharing a clip
- 2:17Speaker 1: from her wedding ceremony where her husband forgot her name.
- 2:22Speaker 2: He accidentally referred to her sister.
- 2:24Speaker 4: That's a nervous guy right there.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Never going to live that down.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to play you the clip and then
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'll give you the behind the scenes because it's pretty interesting.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Take B.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Take B.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Emily Grace Pomfrey.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Emma.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Emma Grace Pomfrey. So.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Oh, he sounds so nervous.
- 2:45Speaker 1: First of all, the clip is a couple of years old.
- 2:47Speaker 1: The wife posted it not that long ago. It's gone viral.
- 2:50Speaker 1: They had just met and got pregnant. There were 10
- 2:52Speaker 1: weeks of knowing each. She was 10 weeks pregnant. They
- 2:54Speaker 1: only known each other 10 weeks when he screwed up.
- 2:57Speaker 1: But now they've been together.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I thought that that was the other story because I
- 3:02Speaker 3: just saw this video that went viral of a wife
- 3:05Speaker 3: calling her husband the wrong name during their vows. She
- 3:09Speaker 3: called him Shane. But that's his middle name, and his
- 3:13Speaker 3: uncle was in the crowd, and his name's Shane. So
- 3:15Speaker 3: while they were there, they were like, everyone in the
- 3:17Speaker 3: crowd was like, she said his name wrong. When really,
- 3:19Speaker 3: that's just what she calls him. It's just his middle name.
- 3:21Speaker 4: That's nothing.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I know, but that's what I thought that was.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I thought he had maybe hooked up with a sister.
- 3:27Speaker 2: That would make sense.
- 3:28Speaker 1: You know how when you watch all these dramas, these
- 3:30Speaker 1: really cool things, and the cop figures out who the
- 3:32Speaker 1: killer is, just like a mystery.
- 3:35Speaker 4: It's a hunch.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It's a big thing.
- 3:36Speaker 4: They see a thing.
- 3:37Speaker 1: A man in Florida who became known as the crossword
- 3:39Speaker 1: bandit has been caught. He orders beers and leaves without
- 3:43Speaker 1: paying him. His trademark was that he would leave a
- 3:45Speaker 1: crossword puzzle behind. And they would assume he was coming back,
- 3:49Speaker 1: but he never did.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I've definitely seen Nick do that.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And local bartenders are the victims, but here it is.
- 3:54Speaker 2: He got upset, he's heading to the restroom and never
- 3:57Speaker 2: saw him again. But there is his crossword puzzle book
- 4:00Speaker 2: that he always leaves at the bar.
- 4:01Speaker 4: He looked over and he goes, oh my God, that's
- 4:03Speaker 4: the guy. And he's sitting right over here.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And I was like.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Oh, my God, it is him.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Like, that's so crazy.
- 4:10Speaker 6: Left half the beer. So I kept thinking, well, he's
- 4:13Speaker 6: coming back. That's why I didn't look for him for
- 4:15Speaker 6: a good amount of time. Because I was like, oh,
- 4:16Speaker 6: he's in the bathroom or he's outside. I was like, oh,
- 4:21Speaker 6: good part of the scam.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Like, I like how he sits down with the crossword puzzle.
- 4:25Speaker 1: They're like, that's the guy. Let's wait till we finish it.
- 4:28Speaker 4: That's the guy. He's still going to finish his beer
- 4:30Speaker 4: before he leaves.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the cops catch him. What do you got for
- 4:32Speaker 2: life hacks, Rich?
- 4:33Speaker 4: All right.
- 4:33Speaker 5: This is something that I'm totally guilty of. Walking into
- 4:37Speaker 5: a room and immediately forgetting why you went in there.
- 4:40Speaker 5: We've all done it. In fact, there's actually a name
- 4:43Speaker 5: for it. It doesn't mean that you're losing your ever-loving mind.
- 4:45Speaker 5: It's called the doorway effect. Check this out. Your brain
- 4:48Speaker 5: actually treats walking through a doorway like a movie scene change.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 5: So it's like, oh, new scene, new room, new information.
- 4:58Speaker 5: And suddenly the thing that you need for the movie
- 5:00Speaker 5: scene is gone. So here's the hack. So next time
- 5:03Speaker 5: you do that, walk back through the door that you
- 5:06Speaker 5: just came through and you will remember why you were there.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Like backwards or turn around and walk?
- 5:09Speaker 4: Either way. It doesn't matter.
- 5:11Speaker 5: If you want to make it dramatic, you could walk
- 5:13Speaker 5: through backwards. But you just turn around and go back
- 5:15Speaker 5: through the door. You're back in the movie. You're going
- 5:17Speaker 5: to remember what you walked in there from. So they
- 5:19Speaker 5: say returning to the original environment helps trigger the memory.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So it's not dementia?
- 5:22Speaker 4: It's not. It's not.
- 5:24Speaker 5: You're not losing your mind. You're not losing your mind.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Your brain isn't broken. It's just an over-aggressive filmmaker. There's
- 5:31Speaker 5: your life hack. That can be found at johnjainrich.com.
