Transcript
- 0:02Here's your host, Alex Deren. Well, pretty much staying in the White
- 0:08House here on the Alex Scare podcast Network. I'm joined now by someone who
- 0:12I've become friends with over the years. Yes, the Deputy Trump Communications director
- 0:17at the White House, Roma de Rabbi, joining me now. Roma.
- 0:20Since the White House days, you've kind of been doing a lot of things
- 0:24on your website and work with other clients and guests, And thanks for joining
- 0:27my podcast. Absolutely, it's nice to be on with you today. There's
- 0:31a lot to talk about coming off the heels of that debate. Well,
- 0:35the first thing I want to cover is, and I think you and I
- 0:36can agree here, the Dems keep saying Trump lied and maybe that's a way
- 0:40to cover or Biden's really bumbling and stumbling. Would you start there, let's
- 0:45start there. Would you agree with that? You know, absolutely not?
- 0:49And I would actually credit CNN for once by their segment last night debunking Biden's
- 0:57lies. So you know, you're always going to have that narrative from the
- 1:00mainstream media that President Trump is, you know, exaggerating that he's saying outlandish
- 1:07things. But the reality is last night showed the American people that Joe Biden
- 1:12not only can't get through a sentence, but he doesn't know the facts.
- 1:18He lied multiple times. And CNN actually put up a great segment within the
- 1:25first thirty minutes after that debate ended, debunking a number of lies that he
- 1:30said during that hour and a half special. Oh yeah, I think Trump
- 1:36was actually pretty truthful the whole way. And you know it's disgusting. Roma
- 1:40is those who say Trump's lying is basically saying, no, an illegal immigrant
- 1:45didn't kill a twelve year old in Texas. No legal immigrant didn't, you
- 1:49know, rape a thirteen year old. They're basically saying all that didn't happen.
- 1:52Isn't that disgusting? Oh, it truly is. And you know,
- 1:56they had just an election a couple days ago in New York where a sitting
- 2:00congressman was voted out because of his lies, his lie that women in Israel
- 2:06were not brutally raped on October seventh. I mean, the things that the
- 2:09left are saying just cannot be overlooked anymore. And someone, I will just
- 2:16say this, someone on the Democrat Party gave them all the green light to
- 2:22go after Biden during this debate. He has not changed Joe Biden's nature has
- 2:29not changed. He has been weak for three and a half years. He
- 2:32has had terrible policies, he's been falling up the stairs, and all of
- 2:38a sudden, they're allowed to say it. All of a sudden, they're
- 2:42allowed to tell the truth that he's not fit for office. I mean,
- 2:46we really have to hone in on that and to hammer them and ask why
- 2:52now? Because the last three and a half years, when you ask the
- 2:54White House what is wrong with Joe Biden and his cognitive state, they would
- 3:00pivot and they would lie. And now all of a sudden they're telling you
- 3:04the truth. Let me ask you this roma because obviously you were in the
- 3:08Trump White House when he was running in twenty twenty. How did you,
- 3:12guys balance the White House work and the campaign? Did you? Guys?
- 3:15You weren't able to work hand in hand, But were you involved with the
- 3:17debate prip back then as well? Where was there sort of hand in hand
- 3:22involvement there? Yes? So President Trump had a lot of advisors around him.
- 3:27He is definitely a great leader for many reasons, but one of which
- 3:31is that he likes diverse opinion in the room because he wants to hear every
- 3:37perspective in order to make the best decision on behalf of the American people.
- 3:43He mentioned some of those things last night. When asked about abortion, he
- 3:46said, you know, my view is that there are exceptions for rape,
- 3:50incest, and life of the mother, but of course you have to follow
- 3:54your heart. He understands that, and he sympathizes with that on issues like
- 4:00abortion when it comes to the voter and what they need to do at the
- 4:04voting booth in November. So when he's prepping for debates, it's all in.
- 4:10But as you saw this last week, President Trump prepped for this debate
- 4:14by getting on the ground and talking to the American people. What did Joe
- 4:17Biden do? He slept for five days, and you know, I'm of
- 4:21the mind that he was still in that rem cycle last night because he just
- 4:27couldn't seem to get his words out. I mean, the man was half
- 4:30asleep on that stage. It really is hard to watch as an American.
- 4:34It's hard to watch as a human. He's just unfit to be governing and
- 4:41it's time for him to step down. Really well, I'm wondering if they're
- 4:45going to somehow invote twenty fifth Amendment because remember during the Trump years, that's
- 4:48all they talked about. So I'm talking about on my podcast, why not
- 4:50invoke the twenty fifth Amendment while we're at it. Well, you know,
- 4:55they might, there might be rumors of that, but the reality is that
- 4:59the Democrats are stuck with their poor decisions, and their poor decision is Joe
- 5:02Biden. It is very late in the game for them to change things up
- 5:08now. Logistically it would be nearly impossible. So if they want to spend
- 5:13their time and their money teetering on this idea of switching him out in the
- 5:19ninth hour, I am all for it. I would love for them to
- 5:24waste their time doing that. Because President Trump is focused. He is not
- 5:30missing a beat here. He is very, very disciplined, boots on the
- 5:34ground talking to the American people. He has already spoken with a number of
- 5:40people today, and he's not going to let these rumors of Joe Biden stepping
- 5:45down and newsom or whoever it is coming in distract him from the goal.
- 5:49And the goal is to truly save America. That's the name of one of
- 5:54his old packs, save America, and it rings true. His initial of
- 6:00America first is not just a slogan, It is a mindset and a goal.
- 6:04We need to be America first because right now this socialism communism mindset that
- 6:13Biden's administration is governing by. And I say Biden's administration because Biden, who
- 6:18knows if he's actually governing. They're not operating on behalf of the American people.
- 6:25They're putting us in a position of weakness. And it's no surprise because
- 6:29Biden is the ultimate weakness. All Right, I gotta ask you this because
- 6:35I feel like one of the weak spots that Trump has to really convince the
- 6:39Americans. And do you think he did enough of this? Yesterday is January
- 6:43sixth. He was there, and you know it was prior to what happened
- 6:46at the Capitol, But do you think he did enough to convince the American
- 6:48people? Hey? No, I was distancing myself as much as I could
- 6:53from that. What was your take on that whole thing? And I asked
- 6:55that on the older of the Supreme Court making a big ruling on January sixth?
- 6:58Today, absolutely, I mean, let's talk about that Supreme Court decision.
- 7:03Like I said, someone gave the Democrats the green light they are now
- 7:09seeing common sense as the guiding light to move forward. But honestly, it's
- 7:15too late. I think President Trump was very disciplined last night, and he
- 7:18spoke from the heart. He really means what he said when he was excited
- 7:24to talk to the largest crowd he's ever spoken to, and that you know,
- 7:27there was a small number of people that went to the Capitol. It
- 7:30really was not this outlandish experience that the media tries to make it out to
- 7:36be. And Nancy Pelosi doing absolutely nothing to protect the capital when that was
- 7:43her responsibility. So you know, I think the Democrats will look back as
- 7:47much as they can. They will look back to try to pull America down.
- 7:54But President Trump is looking forward. He is focused on the future,
- 7:58and he's focused on bringing this country back into a place of safety, a
- 8:03place of prosperity, and a place of freedom. I mean, the reality
- 8:07is that we are of, you know, a really difficult spot today where
- 8:13in many cities across the country you can't even walk down the street by yourself
- 8:18because it's become so crime written, it's so dangerous, and we have a
- 8:24number of illegal immigrants potentially from isis. I mean, the fact that that
- 8:30alone is happening is terrifying and reason that we need President Trump back. You
- 8:37know, Biden said last night, Oh no, there aren't four hundred immigrants
- 8:39here illegally that are part of ISIS networks. Why do you think people are
- 8:43actually buying that. I don't buy that because I read the reports. There
- 8:46are people here, there are terrorists here from across the border. Well,
- 8:50you read the reports, and I read the reports. But the administration has
- 8:56tried very hard from the beginning to hide these numbs. If you look back
- 9:01to year one of the Biden administration, DHS did not put out their border
- 9:05numbers for eight months straight. They hid those numbers from the American people as
- 9:11they continued to rise and rise and rise. And now we are in the
- 9:16thousands and thousands of border crossers a day that we know about who knows how
- 9:20many god aways, who knows how many we don't know about. And these
- 9:26are people coming from all over the world. They're coming from countries that we
- 9:30do not have relationships with. They are coming here for one goal, and
- 9:33that is to cause discourse and cause pain for the American people. And it's
- 9:39working because Joe Biden is all talk and no action. On day one,
- 9:43he removed almost one hundred orders that Trump had put in place to keep our
- 9:50border secure. Why for purely political purposes. He doesn't care about your safety.
- 9:56He cares about his donors. He cares about the lobbyists that are in
- 10:01their pockets. He doesn't care about keeping our border secure. And you cannot
- 10:07have a secured nation without a secure border. I think of the UH.
- 10:13I think of that donor in New York City, right radio City. Meanwhile,
- 10:16Trump, President Trump went out to massive people. There's the difference right
- 10:20there. As far as I'm concerned. When it comes to this campaign season,
- 10:24Oh, absolutely, absolutely. Money He President Trump from the beginning has
- 10:30told has told everybody, I don't want your money. He even said last
- 10:35night on stage, I don't need to be doing this, but I have
- 10:37to because of everything that Joe Biden has done. I have to come back
- 10:43and help save this great nation. Does he confide in you often? Because
- 10:48I know you and him were close in the White House. Do you still
- 10:50talk with him even during this campaign season? What's your connection with President Trump?
- 10:54Now? So my role in the campaign is external, you know,
- 10:58speak king as an external surrogate. I'm not specifically on the paid staff of
- 11:05the campaign. He has a great team around him right now, people like
- 11:09Jason Miller, you know, Stephen Chung, really strong communication advisors that are
- 11:16in his ear constantly. And those are the people I talk to day in
- 11:20and day out, because you know, right now, President Trump, every
- 11:24second that he has he's talking to the American people. Every second that he's
- 11:28not at an event, he's on the phone, he's doing radio calls.
- 11:33You know, his focus is making sure that the American people have the truth.
- 11:39Because the Democrats, as you know, and as we've already talked about
- 11:41today, they love to lie. And just last night, you know,
- 11:46I was at a small event watching this and play out. I spoke with
- 11:50the number of people who were shocked to learn the lies that Biden had been
- 11:58telling them. I mean, we eat, breathe, and sleep this political
- 12:01stuff, right, but the average American does not. So if we do
- 12:07not make sure that they get the truth, they're going to believe the lies.
- 12:11That It's a really difficult process nowadays, especially with the media on Biden's
- 12:18side. So the one good part about you know, last night and the
- 12:24aftermath of it, is that they can no longer hide Joe Biden's cognitive disability.
- 12:31Frankly, I believe it's elder abuse, and Jill Biden needs to be
- 12:37giving him a very firm talking to because this is this is not safe,
- 12:41this is not safe for America. He needs to step down. I'd agree
- 12:46with you there. And apparently they honored Elder Abuse Awareness Day a few weeks
- 12:50ago, and I just think that's kind of ironic, I guess. So
- 12:52let me ask you this roma. I thought, seeing and gave Trump a
- 12:58lot, a lot of airtime. I thought when they cut off the mics,
- 13:01they cut him off a lot more. But they let him talk,
- 13:03which was a credit to them. I mean, I know it was in
- 13:05the two minute window, and I guess that's because he made the best of
- 13:07each minute. But they also gave him some leeway there. I was good
- 13:09to see. I was happy to see that. You know, I have
- 13:13to credit the campaign and you know, our external surrogates with really holding CNN
- 13:20to the fire beforehand. We have to be proactive, and this week we
- 13:24really were. We were very proactive in making sure that CNN knew and that
- 13:30everybody knew they had to be fair tonight. And I think that they were,
- 13:35you know, really under the spotlight there and they did not have a
- 13:39choice but to allow President Trump to speak their own rules really were a negative
- 13:45point for Joe Biden because he cannot, like I said, get through a
- 13:48sentence. So if no one is interrupting him, he's going to struggle and
- 13:54it's going to be on full display for everyone to see. I was also
- 14:00I'm pretty happy they didn't bring up the convicted Fellon situation because that would have
- 14:03made things get ugly. I think it would have gotten Trump off track a
- 14:07little bit. But you know, by not bringing that up, he was
- 14:09able to just focus on the issues, which is what was yesterday should have
- 14:11been all about. Right he did. He was very disciplined. President Trump
- 14:16was presidential. You know, this might have been the first time in years
- 14:20that CNN actually referred to Donald J. Trump as the forty fifth president of
- 14:26the United States. They love calling him mister Trump. They love, you
- 14:31know, dipping down on his authority and trying to make it seem like he's
- 14:35something of the past. Last night, he was referred to as President Trump
- 14:41multiple times, and I think the media is going to have to get quite
- 14:45used to that phrase because he will be back in the White House. If
- 14:48last night was any inclination on what the future holds when they cut off your
- 14:52colleague earlier this week on Cenna, do that were you at all? Because
- 14:56I know the Morning Show cut off one of your colleagues and actually took her
- 14:58off the air. I found surprising, and everybody's like, well, there's
- 15:01going to be the debate. So were you a little and nervous when that
- 15:03happened that this could be that was a foreshadow or what were your thoughts on
- 15:07that? You know, I have to say, it's difficult to predict what,
- 15:13you know, a manipulative network like CNN would do. It's not surprising
- 15:18that they would cut off Caroline's mic. She didn't say anything that they hadn't
- 15:22already said themselves. So you know, there's an old saying, if you
- 15:26don't like what you're doing, you don't want people to talk about it,
- 15:30do something different. CNN. I think they knew they had to do something
- 15:35different. They could not repeat what they did to her to President Trump.
- 15:39So I'm not actually surprised that they didn't cut them off. I do think
- 15:45that they were kind of shoved into that position by themselves. Had they not
- 15:48done that, they maybe could have gotten away with cutting off his mic a
- 15:52time or two. But like I said, we were very proactive. We
- 15:56made sure to hold CNN to the fire ahead of time. We really have
- 16:03to do that to the Democrats because otherwise their lies get so far down the
- 16:07road and we're trying to play clean up duty. We have to be on
- 16:11the offense. We cannot always try to do defense after the fact. It's
- 16:17a losing position. And so I would say that's one of the reasons we
- 16:22were so strong as a party last night, really being able to correct the
- 16:26record ahead of time. A couple more questions for you, Roma, if
- 16:32you don't mind. Firstly, you know he brought up Charlotteville. Biden did,
- 16:36and in my thought, I said, but you're kind of a hypocrite
- 16:37because I feel like they've let antisemitism run around in this country on our college
- 16:42campuses and not done anything. Maybe one statement here or there, but they're
- 16:47not doing enough to come back. So why you bring up Charlottesville because you're
- 16:49saying you're not for antisemitism, yet you're kind of allowing it on our college
- 16:53campuses, wouldn't you agree? Well, he brought it up because he can't
- 16:57remember what's currently happening. I mean, he really is struggling, So of
- 17:02course they're going to revert to issues of the past. It's like muscle memory
- 17:07for him to talk about issues of the past. He may not remember what
- 17:11happened ten minutes prior, but if you ask him about something that happened ten
- 17:15years ago, that's in his muscle memory. You know, it's disappointing that,
- 17:21you know, they did not press Joe Biden on the issues of today,
- 17:26of his son, Hunter Biden, of their family's business dealings. You
- 17:30know, it's not surprising that they didn't. He loved referencing, you know,
- 17:36his hometown. He has the same stories that he tells over and over
- 17:40again, which is what he did last night, And it's a sign of
- 17:42cognitive decline. He cannot think forward, he cannot talk about the future because
- 17:49he does not have the ability to do so. So I mean, it's
- 17:52really it's quite difficult to watch. Like I said, But the polls that
- 17:59came out of the race last night, we're nearly identical to the poll from
- 18:03Nate Silver from a few days ago that had Biden in the thirties and Trump
- 18:08in the high sixties percentage wise on who is winning and who is going to
- 18:14win in November. So the Democrats are surely panicking right now because there is
- 18:21no margin of error when you are up thirty plus points from someone. Do
- 18:26you think the Democrats did this on specifically before the convention? I think that's
- 18:30been scrolling around that they did this to basically gauge where they're at when it
- 18:33comes to the convention. Is that. Do you believe that they made this
- 18:37on purpose before the convention to just make a decision based off of this,
- 18:41Well, I think the Democrats have a bad strategy, if any, So
- 18:48I hate to give them the credit and say that they were so manipulative that
- 18:52they planned that it could be. But I truly believe they're just spiraling.
- 18:57I mean, the Democrats do not have a plan. They do not have
- 19:00a strategy to get Biden back into the White House for a second term.
- 19:07Maybe it's on purpose. I'm going to keep my tin boil hat off for
- 19:10that one. But it's not going to be good for them, and they
- 19:14really have waited far too late to do anything about it. So people like
- 19:18to say October surprise, we got one a little bit early this year in
- 19:22the summertime. Well, I can't let you go without asking this burning question.
- 19:26Was the VP nominee pick for Trump in the building last night and I
- 19:30don't feel like that announcement was made, was it are? When will that
- 19:33announcement be made? As much as I would love to break news on your
- 19:38show, I'm not going to get ahead of President Trump. But he is
- 19:42very excited to announce his candid when he chooses to do so, and we
- 19:48have a lot of really great options. I'll say that you saw a number
- 19:52of surrogates speaking on his behalf following the debate last night, really strong voices
- 19:56of the future, and America is going be better for it. He is
- 20:00truly choosing the person that will have one job to support him, support us.
- 20:10Well, there you go, Roma Durrabi. I know you're in transit
- 20:12today, but thanks so much for joining me on your busy Friday after the
- 20:15debate. Absolutely what a mess it. Well, we'll come back to you
- 20:19as the convention rolls around. I'd love to have you back on definitely.
- 20:23I will be on site all week at the convention, so there'll be a
- 20:26lot to talk about that week as well. Awesome. Roma de Rabi,
- 20:30the former Deputy Communication Director of the Trump White House and now part of the
- 20:36external portion of the Trump campaign, joins me today. Thanks so much,
- 20:40Roma, thank you
