Latest / Beyond The Horizon / Bradley Dawson Pleads Not Guilty To The Charges
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome back to the program. A
- 0:04Speaker 1: few weeks ago we were talking about a Tennessee man
- 0:07Speaker 1: who had been accused of murdering his newlywed wife while
- 0:11Speaker 1: they were on vacation for their honeymoon in Fiji. Well,
- 0:15Speaker 1: we have an update on that case and the man
- 0:17Speaker 1: who is being charged being suspected of this murder, Bradley Dawson, well,
- 0:22Speaker 1: he denies that he murdered his wife on the Fiji trip.
- 0:26Speaker 1: So we have an article from the New York Post today.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Let's dive in and get caught up. Headline, newlywed Bradley
- 0:34Speaker 1: Dawson denies confessing to murdering his wife on Fiji honeymoon.
- 0:39Speaker 1: This article was authored by Sneyana Farberov. A Tennessee man
- 0:46Speaker 1: accused of murdering his newlywed wife during their honeymoon on
- 0:49Speaker 1: Fiji denied confessing to the slaying as he asked a
- 0:53Speaker 1: judge to release him on bail due to poor health.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Now he's being held over in Fiji. And he's asking
- 1:01Speaker 1: the judge, obviously, for his release for what he says
- 1:04Speaker 1: has to do with his health. Now, I don't know
- 1:07Speaker 1: how much I believe that, considering, you know, relatively young man.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Never heard anything about any health issues up to now.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But all of a sudden, it's your health issues that are,
- 1:18Speaker 1: you know, driving you trying to get out of jail here.
- 1:22Speaker 1: When you're alleged to have committed such a heinous crime,
- 1:26Speaker 1: especially in a foreign country. It's very rare that a
- 1:29Speaker 1: judge is going to let you out. Bradley Dawson, 38,
- 1:33Speaker 1: appeared in the high court of Lakota on Wednesday and
- 1:36Speaker 1: pleaded not guilty to killing Christy Chen Dawson, 36, at
- 1:41Speaker 1: the exclusive Turtle Island Resort in July. The woman was
- 1:46Speaker 1: found lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom
- 1:49Speaker 1: after allegedly having been beaten to death inside the couple's
- 1:52Speaker 1: bungalow on July 9th, just two days after the Dawsons
- 1:56Speaker 1: had checked into the tropical resort. So this couple was
- 2:00Speaker 1: on their honeymoon, right? They go to Fiji, this tropical resort.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It's a dream vacation. Can you imagine going to Fiji?
- 2:10Speaker 1: I haven't had a day off in like four years, folks.
- 2:12Speaker 1: As you can tell, considering I don't miss a day
- 2:14Speaker 1: here on the podcast, I can only imagine how great
- 2:17Speaker 1: it would be to be sitting around in Fiji right now.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Ass in the sand, toes in the water. Who the
- 2:24Speaker 1: hell thinks it's a good idea to murder their wife
- 2:27Speaker 1: on their honeymoon in Fiji? Certainly somebody who deserves to
- 2:31Speaker 1: be in prison, that's for damn sure. If you can't
- 2:35Speaker 1: have a good trip while you're in Fiji, you're not
- 2:37Speaker 1: having a good trip anywhere on Earth, and you're just
- 2:40Speaker 1: a miserable bastard. An autopsy report reviewed by Daily Mail
- 2:46Speaker 1: later found that the Tennessee pharmacist died of multiple traumatic injuries,
- 2:51Speaker 1: including head trauma, resulting in a brain bleed. So what happened?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Did the chupacabra sneak into the room and kill her, Mr. Dawson?
- 3:00Speaker 1: That must have been one slip and fall, one hell
- 3:02Speaker 1: of a slip and fall, I should say, to cause
- 3:04Speaker 1: all of those injuries. And considering we know that more
- 3:08Speaker 1: times than not, it's the intimate partner that somebody is
- 3:12Speaker 1: with that ends up being their killer. Well, what should
- 3:15Speaker 1: everybody believe, Mr. Dawson? And of course, he has no
- 3:18Speaker 1: real excuses, no real alibis. Dawson was arrested the following
- 3:25Speaker 1: day on a remote island a mile away, which he
- 3:27Speaker 1: had reached by kayak. Yeah, that's exactly what innocent men do.
- 3:32Speaker 1: My wife is hurt, she's dead, whatever. I'm gonna hop
- 3:35Speaker 1: on my kayak and go take a ride. If you
- 3:39Speaker 1: didn't do this, and you walked in the room and
- 3:41Speaker 1: she was hurt or whatever, it wouldn't be, ah, well,
- 3:44Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna go take a kayak ride. It
- 3:46Speaker 1: would be absolute bedlam, freaking out, having an anxiety attack,
- 3:51Speaker 1: breaking down. Imagine the person you love the most and
- 3:54Speaker 1: you walk in and you see her in such a state.
- 3:58Speaker 1: So who did it if it wasn't you, Mr. Dawson?
- 4:00Speaker 1: There's a serial killer running around this island and murdering newlyweds. Well,
- 4:04Speaker 1: how come you're the only couple that's been targeted? prosecutors
- 4:09Speaker 1: presented Judge Riaz Hamza the contents of Dawson's police interview
- 4:14Speaker 1: after his arrest, in which they said the suspect admitted
- 4:17Speaker 1: to getting into a drunken fight with his wife, which
- 4:20Speaker 1: escalated to a physical confrontation, resulting in a shattered window
- 4:25Speaker 1: and a cracked toilet in their cottage, reported ABC News.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And look, let's be very clear. This drinking shit is
- 4:33Speaker 1: all bad. There's people out there that'll tell you, oh,
- 4:36Speaker 1: marijuana is horrible and Not like booze. You want to
- 4:40Speaker 1: talk about a drug or poison that has really caused
- 4:45Speaker 1: a lot of damage? It's alcohol. Do any of you
- 4:48Speaker 1: have a family that doesn't have at least one weird-ass
- 4:52Speaker 1: alcoholic in it? One person who babbles and stumbles around
- 4:57Speaker 1: and is a slob? Everybody's been affected by alcoholism. And
- 5:01Speaker 1: how many times do we hear of stories like this
- 5:04Speaker 1: where there's a confrontation between a couple in a domestic
- 5:08Speaker 1: disturbance and it's all based on being drunk? Now, that's
- 5:11Speaker 1: not the real cause, right? That's just one of the
- 5:14Speaker 1: reasons that someone might feel, let us say, brazen enough
- 5:18Speaker 1: to go this far. But there's obviously a lot of
- 5:21Speaker 1: underlying causes as well. And the main responsibility is not
- 5:24Speaker 1: on the booze or the drugs. It's on the person
- 5:27Speaker 1: who's committing the crime. Seems a lot of people forget that.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Christy was next to the toilet. She was hurt, Dawson
- 5:36Speaker 1: allegedly told police. There was blood and a cut on
- 5:40Speaker 1: her face. The IT specialist said that he freaked out
- 5:44Speaker 1: and fled on a kayak, prosecutors said. Adding that at
- 5:47Speaker 1: the time of Dawson's arrest, he was found to be
- 5:50Speaker 1: in possession of $ 1, 000 in cash, his passport, and two
- 5:54Speaker 1: credit cards. So, she was next to the toilet and
- 5:57Speaker 1: she was hurt. And you decided... To take your bitch
- 6:01Speaker 1: ass on a kayak ride. With a dime in your pocket.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Your credit cards. And your passport. As somebody who takes
- 6:08Speaker 1: kayak rides. I don't ever take any of that stuff
- 6:11Speaker 1: with me. Maybe my ID. My driver's license or whatever
- 6:16Speaker 1: in my wet bag. But besides that I'm not taking
- 6:19Speaker 1: a thousand bucks with me out there. That's ridiculous. In
- 6:22Speaker 1: fact I'm probably not taking any cash. A credit card
- 6:25Speaker 1: maybe in the dry bag. Something like that. But. Come on, man.
- 6:29Speaker 1: You have no excuse for having this sort of exit
- 6:33Speaker 1: when your lady's all messed up. During the hearing on Wednesday,
- 6:37Speaker 1: Dawson's attorney, Iqbal Khan, challenged the prosecution's claim that his
- 6:42Speaker 1: client had admitted guilt in his wife's death. Khan told
- 6:46Speaker 1: the court that after his interview with the local police,
- 6:49Speaker 1: Dawson refused to sign a statement allegedly containing a confession. Now, look,
- 6:54Speaker 1: I don't know the laws over here, and I don't
- 6:56Speaker 1: know how... this sort of thing works the back and
- 6:59Speaker 1: forth between suspects and lawyers and prosecutors and all of
- 7:03Speaker 1: the rest of it but you would think that Dawson
- 7:06Speaker 1: right after the fact was rattled and shook and the
- 7:10Speaker 1: investigators got him to confess and then once he got
- 7:13Speaker 1: himself a lawyer well he wants to recant that confession
- 7:16Speaker 1: right Dawson's defense attorney asked the judge to set bail
- 7:22Speaker 1: for his release, arguing in a court filing that he
- 7:24Speaker 1: is not in good health and needs to consult doctors
- 7:27Speaker 1: about his prescription medications, according to Fox News. You can't
- 7:31Speaker 1: have a doctor come in there, take a look at
- 7:33Speaker 1: him and prescribe some prescriptions. Some of these people and
- 7:37Speaker 1: their asks are absolutely insane. Imagine this was your daughter
- 7:40Speaker 1: who was murdered like this and the scumbag who you
- 7:43Speaker 1: think did it wants to get out because he can't
- 7:46Speaker 1: get a refill on his prescription. Should have thought about
- 7:50Speaker 1: that before you murdered this girl, this woman. The filing
- 7:56Speaker 1: also alleged that Dawson's mother depends on him financially and
- 7:59Speaker 1: will mentally suffer if he remained jail. Hey, look, I
- 8:02Speaker 1: feel sorry for Dawson's mom, right? It's not that I
- 8:06Speaker 1: don't have empathy for her, but unfortunately your son, allegedly,
- 8:11Speaker 1: committed a heinous act here and he's going to have
- 8:13Speaker 1: to pay the price. Kahn argued in the bail application
- 8:18Speaker 1: that holding Dawson without bail until his trial, which could
- 8:21Speaker 1: begin as late as 2024, would be a substantial miscarriage
- 8:25Speaker 1: of justice. If the judge agrees to set bail for Dawson,
- 8:30Speaker 1: his lawyer promised that he would turn in his passport
- 8:33Speaker 1: and stay at a friend's house in Lega Lega, Nadi.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So I guess that's a locale close to where this
- 8:39Speaker 1: is taking place. And I guess he has some friends
- 8:41Speaker 1: over here. prosecutors and Chen Dawson's family had opposed Balfour Dawson,
- 8:48Speaker 1: claiming that he was a flight risk, citing his hasty
- 8:50Speaker 1: escape after his own wife's death. If I was the judge,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I would take that into account, and I probably would
- 8:56Speaker 1: not let this guy go. Whenever you have something like this,
- 9:01Speaker 1: something as disgustingly gross as a murder like this, where
- 9:06Speaker 1: somebody has shown a complete lack of of regard for
- 9:11Speaker 1: human life and for their loved one? And that person
- 9:14Speaker 1: can flee or is shown a propensity to do that? Yeah,
- 9:17Speaker 1: you're staying in jail, buddy. Sorry. Prosecutor Alvin Singh also
- 9:22Speaker 1: noted that the friend who would be hosting Dawson is
- 9:25Speaker 1: currently facing sex crime charges. Well, isn't that nice? So
- 9:29Speaker 1: an alleged murderer is going to go and stay with
- 9:33Speaker 1: an alleged sex offender? Boy, sounds like a jail cell
- 9:37Speaker 1: that's containing Ghislaine Maxwell and her new best friend. Before
- 9:41Speaker 1: the hearing, Dawson told ABC News that he regrets he
- 9:44Speaker 1: could not protect his wife and said he was reading
- 9:47Speaker 1: the Bible daily and praying for Chen Dawson. I can
- 9:51Speaker 1: only think of her and pray for her, he told
- 9:52Speaker 1: the outlet. I love her so much. Yeah, we can tell, buddy.
- 9:55Speaker 1: You should think and pray for yourself because where you're going,
- 9:58Speaker 1: where you're going to end up, you're going to need
- 10:00Speaker 1: all of those prayers. And the audacity of this scumbag.
- 10:06Speaker 1: You're praying for her? Bro, you're the one who killed her.
- 10:09Speaker 1: What are you talking about? The couple wed in February
- 10:14Speaker 1: of 2022 after what has been described as a whirlwind
- 10:18Speaker 1: romance reported by the Daily Beast. A bail hearing for
- 10:22Speaker 1: Dawson has been set for September 14th. Yo, this is
- 10:26Speaker 1: a wild story. And the brutality of it is what
- 10:30Speaker 1: really got me. Who goes on a honeymoon and then
- 10:35Speaker 1: allegedly there's an argument with your wife that's fueled by
- 10:39Speaker 1: booze and this is what the end result is? So
- 10:44Speaker 1: this guy has no good excuse. He has no alibis.
- 10:47Speaker 1: And as far as I can see it, he's going
- 10:49Speaker 1: to be in big trouble. So we'll have to see
- 10:51Speaker 1: what happens at this bail hearing on September 14th, but
- 10:54Speaker 1: when we have more information, we will definitely add it
- 10:58Speaker 1: to the catalog. All right, folks, it's going to do
