- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's start with the tickets to Sean I got something yesterday.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Family four pack, okay, four tickets plus concession vouchers forty dollars.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Now that's forty dollars a ticket or forty dollars for
- 0:15Speaker 1: four tickets.
- 0:17Speaker 2: It's four I believe it's forty dollars a ticket. So
- 0:20Speaker 2: one it's one sixty gotcha plus? Then you get the
- 0:25Speaker 2: forty dollars food voucher.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Right, you get the popcorn, you get it runs in
- 0:28Speaker 1: it probably a soda off of so family goes for
- 0:31Speaker 1: one hundred and sixty bucks.
- 0:33Speaker 2: That's mean they're scary, they're getting creative. But I mean,
- 0:38Speaker 2: look that that was the Tennessee game on the schedule.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I don't think we'd have that problem Tennessee was still
- 0:42Speaker 2: on there for Bowling Green. But you know the reality, guys,
- 0:46Speaker 2: is a game against Bowling Green at ninety percent of
- 0:50Speaker 2: major school has a hard time selling now tickets. Nebraska
- 0:53Speaker 2: has been the one percent for decades, and it does
- 0:57Speaker 2: get your attention. I mean, you know these are generally seats, guys,
- 1:01Speaker 2: in rows eighty to ninety eight in the upper part
- 1:04Speaker 2: of the stadium, in the north and the south. They're
- 1:07Speaker 2: hard tickets to sell right now as it is, and
- 1:10Speaker 2: then you don't have really a marquee non conference opponent.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Kind of with the way this last year ended here
- 1:17Speaker 2: we are.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Then used to be and it isn't a fan problem, Shano,
- 1:21Speaker 1: because the volleyball team sold all of its season tickets
- 1:25Speaker 1: in minutes, including those high in the arena and those
- 1:31Speaker 1: that are frankly not very attractive seats. And there are
- 1:34Speaker 1: more home games. So this is clearly a repudiation of football.
- 1:39Speaker 1: What are what are the issues associated with the fans
- 1:43Speaker 1: in your view?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think there's you go to this year
- 1:48Speaker 2: with the schedule playing five ranked teams, Illinois ranked in
- 1:51Speaker 2: the top thirty, so basically six top thirty teams on
- 1:54Speaker 2: the schedule, and you'll lost your last three games. You
- 1:58Speaker 2: had your spring football and the winner time basically, and
- 2:01Speaker 2: it's been an extremely quiet offseason. I mean, there's just
- 2:05Speaker 2: so many things that have made this one of the
- 2:06Speaker 2: more unique off seasons. I can recall the way last
- 2:10Speaker 2: year ended, the bad Bowl game, the Dylan Royala exit,
- 2:12Speaker 2: the IOWA loss, the Penn State loss, playing the spring
- 2:16Speaker 2: game on the weekend the Sweet sixteen, to really only
- 2:21Speaker 2: hearing from Matt rule and the off season from the
- 2:24Speaker 2: spring game until Big ten media Days one time, and
- 2:28Speaker 2: it was for a you know, it just there's just
- 2:31Speaker 2: not been a lot of publicity or or build up
- 2:34Speaker 2: for much of this, and I think they're just trying
- 2:36Speaker 2: to keep their head down and work. But yeah, it's
- 2:40Speaker 2: been it's been hard to put your finger out other
- 2:43Speaker 2: than the fact that the way last year ended.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, my understanding is that there are a sizeable number
- 2:47Speaker 1: of seats for all of the games, not just these
- 2:50Speaker 1: three cupcake non cons, but for all of the home games.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Is that the case. Did they have a lot of
- 2:57Speaker 1: season tickets available for the whole season?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah? The season ticket data, I mean, I'm trying to
- 3:02Speaker 2: remember what it normally would be, but I think they
- 3:05Speaker 2: they would generally sell like a little over sixty thousand
- 3:07Speaker 2: season tickets six sixty two or sixty whatever that number is,
- 3:11Speaker 2: because then you've got your opponent seats, you've got your
- 3:13Speaker 2: student seats, you know, your faculty family seats, So you
- 3:18Speaker 2: don't actually have eighty six thousand or whatever the number
- 3:21Speaker 2: is season tickets. So yeah, it's hard to know of
- 3:25Speaker 2: that normal season ticket pool how many are remaining, But
- 3:30Speaker 2: they're selling as much at a single game level as
- 3:32Speaker 2: we've seen, or at least aggressively promoting. And what they
- 3:35Speaker 2: do is they the leftover seats that aren't sold, They'll
- 3:40Speaker 2: sell them at a really low price to a seat
- 3:43Speaker 2: geek and then those tickets quote are sold. And Data
- 3:46Speaker 2: made this comment, we challenge our team instead of you know,
- 3:49Speaker 2: making ten cents on the dollar, let's let's try to
- 3:52Speaker 2: sell these at twenty five cents on a dollar and
- 3:54Speaker 2: move these tickets because seat geek or a ticket broker
- 3:58Speaker 2: can buy these from the asking and the tickets quote
- 4:01Speaker 2: gets sold.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we have scrimmage tomorrow. What do you expect.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Well, we think Matt Rule has not committed that they
- 4:10Speaker 2: would have a scrimmage tomorrow. We will talk to some
- 4:13Speaker 2: coaches today and players today. We talked to Matt Rule
- 4:16Speaker 2: again on Saturday. But you know, I would imagine if
- 4:20Speaker 2: they don't do a true scrimmage, it's going to be
- 4:22Speaker 2: more situational, different scenarios that they want to go through.
- 4:26Speaker 2: But yeah, big, big day here. Classes begin Monday. So
- 4:29Speaker 2: this is kind of your final hurrah of camp before
- 4:33Speaker 2: the classes begin up.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Here at you and now and by the way, you're
- 4:36Speaker 1: looking good for your nineteenth birthday today, buddy boy, Happy birthday.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Sean, Sir. Thank you, sir, appreciate it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: He's a Husker. He's a Husker training camp, baby, ladies
- 4:45Speaker 1: and gentlemen. His mom and dad planned to have Sean
- 4:48Speaker 1: born just a couple of weeks before the football season
- 4:50Speaker 1: so it wouldn't interrupt the football season. Worked out great,
- 4:53Speaker 1: all right, Buddy, We'll talk to you on Monday.
