- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hi guys, welcome back to Skill for Anarchy.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is part two in the masterclass with Dr.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Allen B.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: I am so excited because today we have such an amazing guest that is part of the team at Dr.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Allen B's practice and her body squad, you know, side of things.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: So I'm super excited to introduce you guys to nurse practitioner that works with Dr.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Allen B, Nurse Amanda.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the show, Amanda.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited to host you.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Yay, thanks for having me so much.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: I am so excited to talk to everyone today.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm so excited to, you know, kind of pick your brain a little bit because I know that you guys are doing a lot of really cool stuff, practice, and at Body Squad.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And I I would love to learn all about it.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: But I really want to get started with you telling us a little bit about what led to you joining Dr.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Allenby.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: If you could kind of give us a background on yourself.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: My name's Amanda Rose.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: I've recently got married, so that changed, but medical-wise, I'm still Amanda Rose.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: I have been a nurse practitioner for about five years now.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: And I originally started in the pediatric world.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: So I worked with kids.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: I was a pediatric nurse for 10 years before I did nurse practitioner.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: And then I started my nurse practitioner career working with the kids still too.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: But then I, you know, it was starting to take a toll on me.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Um, as you could imagine, yeah, kids are a little bit tough and it's not always a happy medicine.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: And I do hope to have a family one day, and that was something that I was bringing home with me and taking it to heart.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: So I was realizing that maybe as I started to get a little bit older and looking into the family thing, that this may not be the happiest place for me to be.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Now, I still love kids, don't get me wrong, and I still want some, you know.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: But I my other passion was skincare.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, I've constantly battled with skin issues growing up.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Uh since I was 17 years old, I have had melasma, and anybody with melasma knows it never goes away.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: So it's been a constant battle since then.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: And I've had cystic acne and stuff with my hormones and just different stuff that I was like, you know, it was something that I was really interested in, a field in general, and a happy medicine.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Like I it just makes me so happy to come to work to make people feel good and refreshed about themselves.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And I I think that's something that we don't talk a lot about, is that the fact that it is like, you know, cosmetic dermatology is more of like happiness, is is there, you know, in this field of medicine.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And we don't really discuss that a lot, you know, in the in the medical world and especially with just consumers and stuff.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: So I like that you brought that up.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: That makes a lot of sense.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So is that really what like your own skin troubles and all that's what made you transition then into uh cosmetic?
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Yep, that the that has always been an interest of mine, like I said, because of always battling those things.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I had done things in the field myself, and the fact of I had friends that worked in the industry in that field, you know, and it was the happy medicine.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: And I can say it was such a positive change because it is, it's true, you know.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Yes, you're helping and changing people's lives and in a different way.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: No, I can totally understand that.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: And you know, I want to actually ask you because I think, you know, right now, the way I see it, right, in the world of aesthetics and especially with cosmetic dermatology, there's so many, there's just so many things going on, you know, there's so many treatments, there's so many options, and I love that.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: You know, I as a consumer, I love that those things are available.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: However, there's a lot of stuff for consumers to kind of sift through, especially in terms of like understanding like what's good for me, what should I really be going for?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: So I want to ask you, Amanda, what are some of your favorite treatments and products like at the moment that you that you love or maybe that you think are just really great, you know, in terms of results when you're working with your clients and your patients?
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: So this question, the answer is always changing because we're always getting new technologies.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Like you said, there's the this field is constantly evolving.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: So we're seeing new and different things, you know.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: But as of right now, I'd say one of, or there's a couple.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: There's the CO2 cool peel laser, that is probably one of the most popular treatments in the office and one of my favorites in combination with Skin Beave.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: SkinVive is a new skin hydrator.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Unlike the hyaluronic acid fillers that produce volume, this helps to give your skin like a glow, help with your pore size, and ultimately just hydrate the skin.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: It's amazing the results that I've seen with it so far.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: So I'm really excited about that.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: That came from the Juvederm collection of fillers.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: So Voluma, everybody knows what Voluma is, you know, and so a very well-established brand.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: So those two, and then my old faithful, you know, Botox Java full face toxin is one of my favorite things to do.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: I do really customized treatments and I love it.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know that yeah, Botox is definitely always on top of the list with so many people that you know.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: That's an old faithful, that's why I call it.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's always a good pick-me-up for people.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: And there's just so much that you can do with toxin, like exploring, like most people will use it in the upper face, but a lot of people don't know what it can do for the lower face, too.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: I mean, you can transform shaping of the face for certain patients with just toxin alone and not fillers.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Not to say that they're not gonna need fillers, but you know what I mean.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, absolutely, because honestly, I see so much on in the media, obviously, but as well as like just you know, looking stuff up online myself, that there are so many uses for Botox now.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: You know, people are really finding, especially with the jaw and I'm always curious, you know, um, the new ways that people are utilizing this specific uh treatment, you know, because it's always different for everybody.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: So very, very interesting.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, and not everybody's a candidate, like you said, that's why it's important.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Go to someone you trust, someone that knows anatomy and what's going to happen to the muscles and the face and what it will do to the rest of the face, you know, if you treat a certain area, because not everybody will be a candidate for that lower face toxin.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: So what are like I'm just curious, like what are some things you've noticed that maybe would exclude somebody from using Botox specifically?
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so sometimes, you know, as a as you age, part of the aging process there, you sometimes in the upper face will get a heavier upper eyelid, right?
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: You don't have that same elasticity or bounce to your skin.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: So it doesn't snap back as much or as quickly as say a 20, 30-year-old patient.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: So patients that have that heavier lid, they may not be a candidate for knocking out that muscle in the forehead called the frontalis, because then it it limits their ability to lift or raise their brows, which helps to compensate for that heavy tissue.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: So sometimes it can make them feel heavier if they do have significant sagging in their upper eyelid or you know, brow area, and then you knock out that muscle movement.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: Same with lower face.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: If you treat the TMJ muscle like your masseter muscle, it's in the lower face, it's one of the biggest muscles in the face, and it people will treat it for either facial slimming or for migraines and headaches.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: But if you treat that in an older patient who has jowling or that like sag down by the mouth, you can actually exacerbate or make that worse because that muscle, think about it, it's volume, it's holding up some of that tissue.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: So when it shrinks down and you don't have that contraction of that muscle to hold up that tissue, sometimes it can exacerbate or worsen that jowling that people hate.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: So that's why it's important, you know, definitely listen to your provider when they tell you not to do something.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Not all for everyone.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: No, I'm so glad that you mentioned that because honestly, like I'm not gonna lie to you, you know, when it comes to Botox, like I always was so curious because there's this wonderful amount of physics that goes into understanding, you know, like when you when you're treating patients, because that's one thing no one is speaking about is that you know, when you're going and finding someone that you is going to be doing your treatments, they need to obviously understand the anatomy, but they have to have that skill of like understanding the physics of all of it, you know, like where is it gonna go?
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: So what is it gonna do?
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Exactly, exactly.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: And then you always have those horror stories, I feel like, of people going to the wrong clinic or something, and then they have these like terrible side effects, you know.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: So that's always true.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: But I mean, it can happen to even the best injectors and providers, don't get me wrong, you know.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: But yes, a good knowledge and basis of understanding is definitely gonna help and contribute to a good a desired response ultimately.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: No, absolutely.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And you know, with that, I I actually want to ask you because I think right now we're we're in a very interesting time, I think, in this industry, because obviously with Gen Z being so conscious about their appearance, especially being really into skincare, really into just the way they look, I am always curious, like, you know, what we like where we fall, the rest of us, you know, in our 30s or 40s, 50s, like, you know, and I would love to get your advice about some of the things that you think are very important to advise people on in those age categories.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Um important facts.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: And I'm actually part of the 30s group, so I'm in that category, but I'm slowly climbing there, and I tell you, you there are things that I would want to know and do.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: And I think my biggest piece of advice is to don't wait, you know, don't wait till you get to a point where you're looking at yourself in the mirror.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: You know, I have patients that'll come in and say that they cry, you know, because they just are unhappy with the way that they look and they don't know how or when it got to this point, but they're unhappy about it and they just come in so upset, they want to feel and look refreshed, and it breaks my heart, you know, like it's awful.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: I don't want anybody to feel that way.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: That's why ultimately I do what I do to make people feel better, you know, and not to change them.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I I don't want to change anybody's beauty, everybody has a unique beauty to them, and I think that is so important to stress.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: No one is gonna get the same treatment.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: I don't cookie, nothing is cookie cutter, it's all very individualized to enhance natural beauty.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: So I think my biggest piece of advice is to don't wait, get started early.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: That you know, you can do less if you start earlier than if you come in and we're trying to play catch up.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: It it's sometimes overwhelming for both the patient and the pocketbook, you know, if if you wait.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: No, that makes sense.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I I might have to take your advice because I've never gotten anything, like I've never gotten any injectables, nothing actually.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: And I always sometimes I'm like, you know what?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: I need to make an appointment and I need to just go do something because I'm always like, you know, taking mental notes of like, oh, well, I would love to get this done or whatever, but I just never end up doing it, you know what I mean?
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Yes, exactly.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: We all have crazy busy lives.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Come and see me.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: I'd love to see you and treat you, you know.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: But yes, don't don't wait till you're at at the point where you're crying and upset with how you're you're looking, because it does take some time to get the get you to a point if you do wait, you know, so it's easier to get ahead of it and focus on preventative measures too, even than just trying to correct everything.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: And I I want to actually one follow-up to that is like, is there anything that say, you know, once we reach once we go into our 40s and 50s, is there anything that we start you know being excluded from or not being qualified to to get in terms of treatments?
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, have you ever seen somebody like you know, once they reach a certain age, you don't recommend certain procedures or treatments?
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Or does it not really?
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: No, not typically, honestly.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like I said, I mean, it every treatment's gonna be very individualized, and uh some people aren't gonna be a candidate for, like I said, toxin in certain areas, meaning like Botox or Dysport, if you have heavier laxity of the skin.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: But really, I mean, it there's not one specific treatment that I can think of.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: And people in their, you know, 70s, 80s still get Botox and do fine.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: Not everybody has that same saggy of the upper skin or wherever it is that you're treating.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: So I don't think that really there is one exclusion.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: That's good to know.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I I think that there's for me, like as a consumer, I'm always curious, like, well, am I gonna run out of time?
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: You know, that kind of thing.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: So that's good to know, though.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: You come whenever you're ready.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: We'll make a spot for you.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: No, I want to actually ask you because I know you guys offer the cool peel, and that's something I'm you know, I'm very I I keep hearing these words and these, like, especially with the peels, you know, and I never really know like what they entail.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: So could you tell us a little bit about what is cool peel and what's the process and what does it really do for our skin?
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, of course.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, cool peel I could talk about all day.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: It's like I said, the machine device that we use most frequently here in this office.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: I do so many of them throughout the day and the week.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: It's it's just one of my favorite things.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: So you cut me off if I just keep talking too long.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: But see, so cool peel.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: I know it's kind of funny why they name it cool peel because I think about this all the time because after it's actually heat that you feel, and a lot of my patients have joked and said, like, this is like so ironic, they call this cool peel because there's nothing like cold about it, you know.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: But it's it's comparable, it is a CO2 laser.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: You know, a lot of people have seen the traditional CO2 and hear the word CO2 and get scared off by it because the traditional CO2 laser was a very aggressive setting, you know.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: If you've seen little like TikToks or things on social media, the people they look like a third-degree burn victim, you know, and it takes like a month of healing.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: So they came out with this cool peel device, and it is a CO2 laser, but with far the less downtime, you have like two days of a little bit of redness and swelling, and then after that, really not much at all.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: You get like a rough skin texture that exfoliates off, and downtime is reduced significantly, but with similar results, you just need a series of about three treatments of the cool peel that compares to one of the traditional, like more aggressive CO2.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Now I can use the cool peel laser and do the aggressive settings.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like the traditional CO2.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: It's it's a CO2 laser.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: I can customize the treatment to one of those more aggressive treatments, but most of my patients don't have that amount of downtime.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: You know, they're like, I'll do the three with two days, then to have to do one with a month of downtime.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Nobody has that.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: So what is CO2?
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's an ablative laser, and ablate of just means that it like burns off that top layer of skin to regenerate new skin cell production, and it heats the underlayers of the tissue, like creating a controlled wound that tells the body, all right, let's create some elastin and collagen there to go repair that.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: And that's what gives you the contraction or the tightening effect.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: So you get this fresh skin, it helps with the brown spots, it helps with superficial texture, like that crepey texture that a lot of uh people have around the eyes or the mouth area, and then it also helps to tighten skin laxity, so it's amazing.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: I mean, I there's not one person I can think of that doesn't need a cool feel.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: That's so cool.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, no pun intended it.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: I just realized I said that.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: No, but I mean that is that's very interesting.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: And I honestly I I'd heard about CO2 lasers and I've seen a lot of the results and stuff, but that's really, really interesting that you don't have to have that downtime, you know.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Now that's yeah, that's great.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: It I I honestly just can't say enough about it.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: I did my mom's first one like last week, and my dad told her in the kitchen that she looked 10 years younger.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, just things like that.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: Amazing.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Like that's beautiful.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, it's so that's so cool to see how much of a difference like good cosmetic dermatology can make in a person's life.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: That's it's so cool.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: That wasn't even one treatment, you know.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: She has two more to go.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: That's yeah, see, I those are the kind of things where I really like, you know, whenever I I look around on social media, I'm always like a little bit, you know, kind of sad that we aren't talking enough about it because I think, you know, I I remember for the first part of this masterclass when I was talking to Dr.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Allenby, she mentioned, you know, this idea of like, you know, it's okay to feel better about yourself, kind of thing.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: People just don't think we're all just naturally closed off to treatments and you know, going in.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: But it's like really, if you want to do the best possible thing for your skin, go to a professional.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: You know, go to the professionals, they're the ones that can tell you how to firm your skin, how to fix your, you know, you guys know the real techniques and the real, you know, equipment that's needed.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: And so I always wonder because people end up spending thousands on skincare and all these products, you know?
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: And instead of just going in and getting actual things done that will show you the results that you're looking for.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: So yeah, right, exactly.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: You know, I I joke of the younger population, you know, they they I hear things from their TikTok doctor, you know, or their social media provider, whoever the heck they're watching on the Instagram or TikTok reels.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: And I'm guilty, I watch TikTok and Instagram reels too, but I don't take my medical advice from necessarily the social media providers.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: I would encourage everybody to go in for an individualized consultation because not the same treatments for everyone, and every information that you hear on these social media platforms is not necessarily true.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: And you don't use that mug that always says, like, your Google search is not the same as my medical degree.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: I literally love that.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, I that will never get old for me because I think that is so true, you know.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: And I love patients that do their research.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Good, please do, but just also consult with a provider who has the medical knowledge that can help to support you in whatever decision it is you're trying to reach.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: Exactly, exactly.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Now, I I love that.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: And, you know, with that, I want to actually talk about another really um, I think buzzworthy uh set of topics.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: And I see these everywhere.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: You know, I think a lot of brands are actually coming out with these devices for at-home use, which I'm not a huge fan of.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: You know, I've been very vocal about that, but I want to actually ask you, uh, you know, true professional about microneedling and radio frequency, you know, if you can tell us about those and kind of give us a background, you know, on that.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: You know, what are they and just some knowledge?
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this one is a tough one.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of different devices out there on the market, and it's very easy to get confused with things because there's microneedling alone, and then there's micro needling with radio frequency.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: I will say there is a significant difference.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Um, I would do microneedling with radio frequency.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: The radio frequency is what's going to give you that exaggerated result.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: Some patients will come in and say, Oh, I've done microneedling, and I'm gonna have to say, Okay, well, did we was it with radio frequency or not?
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: And also, there's different brands of devices and different operators of devices.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: There's so many variables when it comes to microneedling.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: But ultimately, so what is microneedling down to the basics of it?
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: It's little needles that puncture the skin, they go down underneath the skin top layer there, and they create like a controlled wound.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: And what it's doing again is telling your collagen and elastin to go to that controlled area of the wound to repair it.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: That gives you that contraction and the tightening.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: So radio frequency is delivering heat and energy to that tissue.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: That's what's creating that wound, not just the needles that go down, it's the heat and the energy to exaggerate those controlled wounds to give you that exaggerated response.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: Um, we have Morpheus and Virtue here in this office.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of different brands out there on the market of different machines.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: We, well, Dr.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: Allenby has tried probably all of them.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: You know, she has found she's been in practice for 30 years.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: She's found the ones that she feels works the best and produces the most results.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: So that's those are the two that we carry here.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: And there's a little bit of a difference between them.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Virtue has a little bit thinner gauge needles and can go a little bit more superficial than Morpheus.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: So Virtue is a little bit safer for my melasma patients or patients with pigment, whereas the Morpheus may not be my first choice over the Virtue for those with the pigment tissues.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Morpheus has a little bit larger gauge needles.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: It's just this is why you need a provider to help guide you for which one because there's differences, but it's hard for me to explain down to a superficial layer that everybody will understand.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, I could get into the science of it of one's monopolar energy and the other one's bipolar energy, but nobody's gonna know what it is that I'm saying.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: Ultimately, it's just different patients are gonna qualify for a different device, and that's why you need your provider to help guide you to that decision.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: No, that makes that makes sense.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: And I, you know, one of my I think biggest questions is because you mentioned the sizes, you know, when you're treating things like, for example, wrinkles versus scarring.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, which one is better for which?
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Maybe if you could give us a little overview of that.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Some some of the big concerns, you know.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, ultimately, these are tightening devices.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: So it does help with wrinkles and skin laxity.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: It does help to shrink down pore size and scarring.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Now I've seen beautiful results with both Amorpheus and Virtue.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: So I want to know a little bit, Amanda, about PRX peels.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: What are they and like what is so revolutionary about them?
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Because I know they're really, really um, like really great.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: So I would love to learn about them.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: They are.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: These are an ultimate pick-me-up.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: And I will say, my reps out there will give me a backhand slap if I call it a peel.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: So they really pride themselves on this is not a peel.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Whereas you're used to hearing chemical peels and this or that, it's just an easy word to say, but this actually is not qualified as a peel.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: The PRX facial treatment is actually a chemical collagen stimulator.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: So it's not gonna give you the same peeling effect that you have when you undergo other chemical peels.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Like I said, because it's not, it's not a peel.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: There's no peeling, there's no downtime.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: That's what I love about it.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, I live in Florida for a reason.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: I am not a sun goddess by any means, but I do like to do some outdoor activities, of course, with my SPF and protection, my hat and my face carves, but PRX you can do and go right out and about.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: Like if I was going out on the boat, I wouldn't have to worry about it.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: And it stimulates, it's a TCA peel, which is just a chemical that goes down.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: They use a molecule hydrogen peroxide to help get it down to a certain layer to help create that collagen that's gonna give you that plumping effect.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: So it's gonna give you a hydration, a glow to your skin, really help with like the dullness.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: So it's it's a really good fast one.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: It's not hard to do.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: It takes 10, 15 minutes to do, and then you go about your normal day and no peeling, no downtime.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: So why do they call it appeal though?
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: Like when they call these things peel.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: I know, I'm telling you, I get in trouble all the time because it's so easy to say, you know, it it everybody's used to that.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: Well, you could call it a buzzword, almost like a peel, you know.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: Everybody knows what that is.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: It's more of a tongue twister, or more to say, a chemical collagen stimulator.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: It's just a different facial treatment.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: So, how many of these can you get done?
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, what is the frequency at which you can get PRX treatments done?
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: So, really, it's a for the first, if you're coming in for the first time for this treatment, it's recommended to do about one a week for about eight weeks.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: After that, you can just maintain however you prefer, like once a month.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: It's really up to your budget and preference.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: But you know, if you're feeling bad about yourself one day or you have an event, it's a great, like I said, pick me up that you can come in and say, Oh my gosh, great.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: And then you're like glowing for a couple days after.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay, that makes sense because I think with with peels, we're so jarred.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: Like I am at least.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: I'm very jarred from the you know, the big uh, you know, skincare brands that have the big danger labels on them, like you know, you should not do this, you know, but but those are actual avoid the sun and like glycolic peels and stuff.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: So that's good to know.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: That's good to know.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's why this one's uh it's a little bit different and it does it helps to have no downtime.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's huge in this office here for sure.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I feel like uh you guys have everything, like honestly, like that's what I'm I'm like picking up on it for everything.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: I have something out there.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: If you're in Florida, you really need to go to Dr.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: Allen B's you know locations because this this is amazing.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: You guys have literally everything.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yes, honestly, and that's what we pride ourselves on.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, Dr.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: Allenby's been in this field for 30 years, she knows her stuff, she knows what works and what doesn't work, and everything in this office we've tried.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: So we've seen firsthand before doing any treatments on patients.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Is this worth it?
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Is it not?
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: And that's where we can separate ourselves from maybe some of the other offices around, is because we do have all these different devices available.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: We can customize your treatment.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: I can do cool peel around the eyes and Morpheus to the rest of the face, or I can do cool peel and Morpheus together.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: You know, these your treatment plan is so customized here, and we have all the ability to choose what's gonna be the best in which area for you.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: I really love that.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: I love how experienced you guys are.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: And I, you know, I really, really I'm such an advocate for if you're gonna get something done or if you're somebody who's really frustrated, you know, with your skin conditions or anything, you know, just please go to someone who has that amount of experience.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, like you said, Amanda, you know, Dr.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: Allenby's got 30 years under her belt, you know, you guys and her everybody in your practice, you guys know this stuff, you know, it's like the back of your hand, and I it's so much safer, you know, even if you're younger, you know, rather than going to some random store and picking out these crazy treatments that are over the counter, like it's just sometimes better to just go in, get your skin evaluated, you know, figure out what you actually need and get that done.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, causing damage and all that stuff.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think they're in their 20s now, Amanda.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you've seen it online, but like on social media, but I see 20-year-olds with like serious damage to their skin.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, what have you been doing?
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: I know you're 25 years old, you know, like crazy.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: It is, it's so sad, and it's scary too, you know.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, of course, cost is a big, you know, issue in this uh this field.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: It's not the most cost affordable for everyone.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: That's why, you know, we're we're able to work with you, we're able to formulate something that works for you and your budget.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: I I would say, you know, it's the cheapest is not always the best.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: I absolutely agree.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: And I think there was like some of the even with skincare, like this kind of a you know, side note, but like for everyone listening, even with like uh certain skincare, I've talked to some very, very nice luxury brands that are very efficacious, you know, and they'll say they'll flat out tell you, like, you get what you pay for.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: Like that's the honest truth, you know, because if you go for the cheaper option, you're getting the cheaper ingredients, you're getting the cheaper options there.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: So just if you're gonna splurge, if you're gonna buy 50 products and end up spending$500, rethink that, you know, a little bit and and maybe go for something else that's actually gonna show you visible results and done by a professional, something that you can is gonna be lasting, you know.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'm I'm a huge advocate for it.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: I'm kind of ranting, but I could rant on that all day.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: Medical grade skincare versus just over-the-counter, that's a whole nother ball game that will change your life, especially if you're in your young 20s, 30s, medical grade skincare will change your life over just using over-the-counter stuff.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'll speak on that too.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: No, exactly.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: But you know, I actually want to talk about like full body as well, you know, because I know with Body Squad, you guys have a lot of options there as well.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: And I want you to talk a little bit about semaglutide.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: I know it's been in the news a lot, you know.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: I recently I think Oprah um mentioned that she does use, you know, medication to help with her weight loss and maintaining her weight loss.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: So I'd love for you to talk to us about semaglutide and what it is and how patients can really incorporate it in their own journey.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: And this is a big uh controversial one as far as the media goes, because I, you know, you see a lot of scary things out there.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: You hear a lot of it.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: You you hear and see more of the bad than the good, I think, a lot of times, because media will latch on to that.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: So I do think that semiglutide is an amazing medication that can help those who are having difficulty with just maintaining or getting rid of some of that excess weight.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: Some patients really, you know, they go through it, they try these crazy diets and exercise and really just can't get there.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: And it's very discouraging.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: If you've ever been there yourself, you understand like it is so frustrating.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: You're eating right, going to the gym, cutting out alcohol or whatever excess calories, and you're still losing like one pound in a month, and nothing is more frustrating than that.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: So, this medication is a great option for those that are eligible.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: You know, there is specific criteria of patients that it is safe for use and not use.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: It is something that needs to be monitored, you know, it's done.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: There's things to be done in a right way, you know, there's different fad diets that everybody circulates.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: There's a keto diet or intermittent fasting, and you could damage your body with those diets if you don't do them correctly.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: And same thing with the medication.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: It's a medication, it's a prescription.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: You know, you should be followed by a provider, not just given the medication, and that's that.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: It's something that you need to monitor.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: You look for labs.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: You know, there's a big hype about stomach paralysis with this medication.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: And I think that if patients are not being screened adequately, like maybe these are patients that have issues with the stomach or GI tract to begin with, that are make them more prone to those issues, or maybe they didn't have their labs checked ahead of time, or maybe they weren't educated about how much water to drink or what to do if they are feeling constipated, or you know, they're just not having that follow-up.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: Of course, is do things happen regardless of the right process in the right way?
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: Yes, anything can happen with any medication, whether you're taking it for blood pressure or it's Botox or whatever.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: But ultimately, this medication is a great option for patients who need that extra assistance to help get some of that weight off.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: And there's great studies that show like huge benefits towards like chronic kidney disease.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: And obviously, this medication is used for patients with diabetes too, and it's FDA approved.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: It is FDA approved for chronic weight loss.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I'm really excited about it.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: I like got excited that I'm looking at labs again and talking to patients about that stuff.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: Silly stuff, but it's exciting to me, you know.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: Anything innovative that has the research to back it, I am all for it.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: I'm a big research, show me the facts type person.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: So I'm very particular on the process with my patients, and anybody who knows me knows that.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: No, I think that, you know, you really kind of hit it on the head with the whole thing, there are so many things that people do for extreme weight loss that is so like kind of you know, just off the path.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: It's just kind of crazy some of these diets.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: I remember when I was in college, Amanda, there was this diet, and I don't know why I did it.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: I really like I look back on it and I'm like, this might have been a low for me at that point, okay, in my weight loss journey.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: And it was like a coffee and egg diet.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: Like I can't eat.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's all you could eat.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: Coffee, drink coffee, and black coffee, mind you, no cream, sugar, nothing, and eat egg.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, and I look back and I'm like, that was not good.
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: Where was your water intake in that?
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: That's the first thing that comes from the topic.
- 34:58unknown: Exactly.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: How did you sleep drinking just coffee?
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: Could have definitely caused some serious harm, you know, but I hopefully I wasn't on it for too long.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: But I know that that's the thing, you know, we we've had this culture, you know, for a long time where we tried these crazy fad diets and they're they're just not it, you know.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: And sometimes it's, you know, even as you know, we're both medical professionals, and you know, like, you know, sometimes when you expose your body to these extremes, it will actually exacerbate, you know, your problem with losing weight.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: So it's gonna make it way harder for you to lose weight sometimes because you've been on this crazy diet and now you're reprogramming your whole body to you know reevaluate the way it digests and absorb nutrients and all that stuff, you know.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: So I think this is, yeah.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: When I when I heard Ozempic was being criticized, I was like, why are we going in that hard?
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: You know, because it's really not it's it's a controlled thing, you know what I mean?
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: Rather than whatever we're doing over the counter for it.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: So well, like any, like I said, at the end of the day, it's a medication.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: If people talked about that with any of the specific blood pressure medications or thyroid medications, I mean, there's side effects, there's things that it can occur with anything that you put into your body, yes.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: But I mean, there's also great benefits to why you're taking medications or a reason why you're prescribed it.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: Now, I do want to ask you though, like what is the dosing on uh somiglutide?
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: Like, um, usually, like, what is the dose that like normally is the lowest dose?
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Usually, so the lowest dose that we start at is 0.25 milligrams.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: And we go up actually, it's very slow increase here in this office.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: We increase every four weeks because you need to give your body time to adjust.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: So, those that are looking for you know a rapid response, and I've had patients say, All right, I'm fine, let's move up.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, no, no, no, we can't do that yet.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Like, there's a reason why we do things here, and it's your body has to have that time to adjust.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: But yeah, we start you really slow, 0.25 milligrams.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: I think the maximum recommended amount for chronic management of weight loss is 2.4 milligrams, just to give anybody an idea of that such a low starting dose.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's good to know though, because I I mean I'm sure there's people that are, you know, considering it since it is in the media so much right now.
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: So, but that's I mean, that's great to know though.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: And I'm glad you guys offer it, honestly.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: And I I'm glad that it's you that's offering it because again, you know, experience is everything, and with medication and anything that has to do with just your body and modifying things to to you know, whatever enhancing, modifying, whatever you want to call it, you have to have that guidance.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: So I'm really I'm happy to hear that you're offering that to your patients, and it it is an option, you know.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, it's it's a really cool opportunity that we have here in this office to do full body, you know, body and face with between body squat and Allen B cosmetic dermatology, we really can help from head to toe.
- 37:57SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: That's really great.
- 37:59SPEAKER_00: Now, I know you guys have some uh specials going on right now.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: Could you tell us a little bit about them?
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: Because if someone is in the Florida area, you guys could maybe avail some of these opportunities and uh yeah.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, we all love savings, of course.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: Special I love to say give out the savings, all the coupons, you know.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: But um, it's holiday season, right?
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: Everybody's getting ready.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: It's what next week, I think.
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: I can't believe it's just the oh my gosh, don't say that.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: You're gonna give me a panic attack.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: I know, I know that people have just uh going through the Hanukkah season right now.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: You know, there's it's holiday season, New Year's Eve is coming up, Valentine's Day is right around the corner.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: It's just a cascade.
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: So, you know, this month we have the mistletoe New Year's Eve Kiss package.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: So if you come in to see me, you will get half a syringe of Restal and Kiss, which is a hyaluronic acid filler, usually used to treat the lip area, lip around the mouth.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: Um, and we can give you a little lip plump before your New Year's Eve, hopefully kiss or Valentine's Day.
- 39:06SPEAKER_01: So that's one of the options we have.
- 39:09SPEAKER_01: The other one is from the 20th of this month, so December 20th through the 3rd of January.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: We'll be offering discounts on cool peel treatments.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: So the CO2 treatments we were talking about.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: Any patient who treats with me can get$100 off of a single treatment or$250 off of any package if they book and treat within those time frames of December 20th through the third.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, cool.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: So we just have to like book the appointment at that time and then we are able to avail it then.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: You book in, you can either treat or book and pay for that during that treatment or that time, yes.
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: Then take advantage of those specials.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: Yay, that's so cool.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: And I think that's definitely worth it.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, if if you're anyone is out there looking for a little holiday treat for yourself, or if you don't know what to get your favorite aunt, or you know, whatever, this is definitely a great option.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: So yeah, huge, huge opportunity here.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: But thank you so much, Amanda.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: This is so fun to chat with you and of course, I know.
