Latest / Reality TV Cringe / 260: These Plaths Are Cray - Welcome to Plathville Recap: The Boyfriend (S7 E1)
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Reality TV Cringe. I am one
- 0:09Speaker 1: of your hosts, Delia, and I'm here with my real
- 0:12Speaker 1: tight homegirl and my daughter in law, the Beautiful, the Transcendent,
- 0:18Speaker 1: the enlightened Beatrice.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I am so enlightened in my third.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Oh god, you are about to get very unenlightened in
- 0:26Speaker 1: this podcast episode. We are here to talk. Welcome to Plaithville.
- 0:34Speaker 1: And if you're on Patreon then you already know that
- 0:36Speaker 1: we like talked a great length as to whether we
- 0:40Speaker 1: were going to recap this show. Last year was kind
- 0:44Speaker 1: of a dud and they didn't deal with so many
- 0:47Speaker 1: of the issues that we wanted them to deal with,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and we didn't know whether we were going to take
- 0:51Speaker 1: another pass at this but we are. So we are
- 0:55Speaker 1: here to recap it, and we have a few thoughts
- 0:57Speaker 1: before we get into it. But before we even talk about, yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 1: we have to let you know to please hide your
- 1:02Speaker 1: wife and hide your kids. This is a truly politically
- 1:06Speaker 1: incorrect podcast. We do not censor ourselves.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Nope.
- 1:10Speaker 1: We say a lot of stupid things.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Objectively.
- 1:12Speaker 1: We have dumb opinions and sometimes we say bad words.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Sorry about it.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And so if you're so little by little lady, you
- 1:23Speaker 1: might want to find yourself another dumpster. But if you're
- 1:26Speaker 1: ready to get back into the plaths and the craziness,
- 1:32Speaker 1: and this episode was lit, it was insane. If you're
- 1:35Speaker 1: joining us, then welcome to this dumpster.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And if you like what we do over here, please
- 1:41Speaker 2: be sure to follow us on Instagram at reality tv
- 1:44Speaker 2: Crunch and join us on Patreon, patroon dot com, sash
- 1:47Speaker 2: reality tv Crunch. We're still covering season two of The
- 1:49Speaker 2: Valley over there. It's gin dark. We have a lot
- 1:53Speaker 2: of other bonus content up there and lots of plans
- 1:55Speaker 2: for the rest of the year, so be sure to.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Go check it out. Yes, and we often and have
- 2:00Speaker 1: after shows, and I would like to make a prediction
- 2:02Speaker 1: that we're probably going to have an after show. We're
- 2:04Speaker 1: going to need it this time because like we're going
- 2:06Speaker 1: to reserve our most inflammatory commentary, offensive offensive counselable commentary
- 2:15Speaker 1: for the after show. Yeah, because it's just too incendiary
- 2:19Speaker 1: and so but if you want to have access to
- 2:21Speaker 1: our after show or our uncensored bits, definitely join us
- 2:24Speaker 1: on Patreon, and we love.
- 2:25Speaker 2: To have you there.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's a beautiful dumpster and the only thing missing is
- 2:28Speaker 1: you now if you are watching on YouTube, please do
- 2:32Speaker 1: not forget to like and comment and share and subscribe
- 2:36Speaker 1: as we make our way up the insurmountable mountain toward
- 2:42Speaker 1: six thousand subscribers. It's our dream. Everybody has to have
- 2:47Speaker 1: a dream, Beatress and this is our dream. So if
- 2:50Speaker 1: you could help, that would be so fantastic. Thank you, Inn,
- 2:55Speaker 1: Thank you. Now, we do have to acknowledge that we
- 2:58Speaker 1: did not release any Sis Wives content this week. Yeah, however,
- 3:03Speaker 1: we're gonna be back next week I think on Tuesday,
- 3:07Speaker 1: dropping a new episode. We're still in season six. We're
- 3:09Speaker 1: doing the retroactive rewind recaps, and we're gonna try and
- 3:14Speaker 1: have two episodes a week, one Sister Wives episode and
- 3:18Speaker 1: one Welcome to Platful episode. Although next week you're gonna
- 3:21Speaker 1: be gone, right, I'm gonna be on She's not gonna
- 3:23Speaker 1: be here, So we'll have a Sister Wives episode next week. Yeah,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but we will not have a Plathfill episode next week
- 3:29Speaker 1: and then the following week. Stay with me. The following
- 3:32Speaker 1: week we're gonna double up on Plathfill, but Sister Wives
- 3:35Speaker 1: are just gonna continue. So sorry about the little bit
- 3:38Speaker 1: of a shakeup with our schedule, but Beatrice only gives
- 3:41Speaker 1: us one night a week, just one night a week
- 3:44Speaker 1: to do all of this very important, very busy, and
- 3:49Speaker 1: so we're trying to just fit it all in where
- 3:50Speaker 1: we can. Again, Tuesday will be the next Sister Wives recap,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and then the following week we're gonna have two episodes.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yes for you because we love you so thanks for
- 4:00Speaker 1: bearing with us. We know it's a lot as we
- 4:02Speaker 1: move things around. Appreciate it now. The next thing I
- 4:05Speaker 1: want to say is, you really do need to apply
- 4:09Speaker 1: the disclaimer to this episode, because I have feelings. And
- 4:15Speaker 1: as I'm up on Reddit and I'm in the various
- 4:18Speaker 1: and sundry plaith bill subreddits, I think there's three or
- 4:22Speaker 1: four of them uncensored snark all of the business. I
- 4:26Speaker 1: can see just how many people are out there riding
- 4:30Speaker 1: for Olivia and Veronica and riding for Veronica, and I'm
- 4:34Speaker 1: just going to come out right now, like, if that's you,
- 4:36Speaker 1: and if like you are unable to see nu ones
- 4:40Speaker 1: or have conversations where maybe some people are right and
- 4:43Speaker 1: some people are wrong, or maybe everybody's a little right
- 4:46Speaker 1: or a little like if you can't do that, then
- 4:49Speaker 1: this might not be the podcast recap for you, like,
- 4:52Speaker 1: just stick with our Sister Wives stuff, stick with our
- 4:55Speaker 1: Patreon stuff. In this recap and as we go forward
- 4:59Speaker 1: with PLATF, I just am not going to be able
- 5:01Speaker 1: to hide Beatrice how much I don't like some people.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Starting with Veronica, a lot of people are loving Veronica.
- 5:09Speaker 1: She is currently on a major campaign across social media,
- 5:13Speaker 1: particularly on Reddit, talking about how awful the plaths are.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And they are and we've never said that they're not,
- 5:20Speaker 1: but like totally going in and making some crazy accusations
- 5:26Speaker 1: and I'm not going to speak to the veracity of them,
- 5:28Speaker 1: whether they're true, but like they're crazy accusations, and she
- 5:31Speaker 1: seems unhinged, and in this episode, straight up I was
- 5:35Speaker 1: just like, this chick is bananas. Yeah, I agree, bananas yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 1: And so like I'm going to say that out loud,
- 5:42Speaker 1: and you know, I personally, out of the two of us,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I think I tend to favor Olivia more than you
- 5:49Speaker 1: because outright hate her, and I don't because I'm coming
- 5:53Speaker 1: at it from the perspective of like an old head,
- 5:56Speaker 1: like an old lady, and I can see in Olivia
- 5:59Speaker 1: a lot of things I saw in myself at that age,
- 6:01Speaker 1: and so I'm able to speak to that and kind
- 6:04Speaker 1: of exist within the nuance. But like, if you cannot
- 6:07Speaker 1: handle even the minorist criticism of Olivia, and this is
- 6:12Speaker 1: not the particular show to listen to for the recap.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Straight up, and we're gonna tell the truth. Yeah, and
- 6:16Speaker 2: don't be leaving negative reviews and stuff if you just
- 6:20Speaker 2: now are like listening to our plathor recaps, or if
- 6:22Speaker 2: you're a new fan or whatever, and then you want
- 6:24Speaker 2: to go leave us a negative review on Apple because
- 6:27Speaker 2: we said something bad about Olivia or Veronica or criticize
- 6:30Speaker 2: doing that shit. Just still little, don't be doing that shit.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I'm like, if you do, you do, But like I
- 6:35Speaker 1: just want to open with the idea that we can
- 6:38Speaker 1: have differing opinions. Yeah, like we can talk about things
- 6:42Speaker 1: and not always agree and that that's okay. And so
- 6:45Speaker 1: I just want to prepare you, yeah, for me and
- 6:49Speaker 1: for you. But like that's just that's where we're coming from.
- 6:52Speaker 1: With plathfil like I don't like but I also don't
- 6:56Speaker 1: like him. Yeah, I don't like Olivia that much, but
- 7:00Speaker 1: I also really don't like Barry or Maria, Like I
- 7:02Speaker 1: don't like anybody. Yeah, I think I hate everybody.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I mean, Lydia's okay, Oh god, she's so innocent, dude,
- 7:08Speaker 2: She's so dumb.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't wait to night end this episode. It
- 7:11Speaker 1: is so crazy to me, and so like, I'm just
- 7:14Speaker 1: going to tell the truth, and so I hope that
- 7:17Speaker 1: you take it in the spirit in which we offer it.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah, this is just Stuss.
- 7:20Speaker 1: We're talking and that's okay.
- 7:22Speaker 2: We're two bitches and wigs in pink couches, like, chill
- 7:26Speaker 2: out a little bit, okay, all right, all.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Right, and that's all I have to say. I just
- 7:30Speaker 1: want to just put that out there because we're going
- 7:32Speaker 1: to cover this season and if we started, we're going
- 7:34Speaker 1: to finish it.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yep.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So just let you know how it's gonna be, okay, period,
- 7:38Speaker 1: all right, without further ado, Therefore, my dear take it away.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Welcome to Blackfill, Season seven, episode one, entitled.
- 7:47Speaker 2: The Boyfriend, The Boyfriend okayka, Lydia's boyfriend.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Look, I let's just deal with it. Let's just talk
- 7:55Speaker 1: about it. Yeah, let's just talk No, what we're always
- 7:58Speaker 1: let's just talk about this. And that's another thing, Like
- 8:00Speaker 1: Beatrice is a gay woman and she's always on a
- 8:03Speaker 1: gay conspiracy. Like I ever look gay. According to Beatrice,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I mean, we think Cody Brown's a little bit gay,
- 8:09Speaker 1: Like everybody's a little bit gay when it comes to you.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So I see what you're doing with the hand.
- 8:14Speaker 2: What I didn't say nothing, and.
- 8:15Speaker 1: You're saying that maybe Zach is gay.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I have not been the only one saying that. People
- 8:19Speaker 2: on Reddit have been saying that.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I do feel like from a metaposition, like globally and spiritually,
- 8:25Speaker 1: it's probably inappropriate for us to comment on that. But
- 8:28Speaker 1: also the precedent has been set in our podcast that
- 8:31Speaker 1: we do comment about that. Yeah, And I think that
- 8:33Speaker 1: it's actually a good conversation for us to get into
- 8:36Speaker 1: because of the Christian fundamentalism of it all, because we're
- 8:39Speaker 1: obviously pro LGBTQ, obviously very pro that. Like I want
- 8:44Speaker 1: to have the conversation around that, but beyond that, beyond
- 8:49Speaker 1: just that, Like just my husband, I was actually sitting
- 8:54Speaker 1: in the recliner while I was watching this and he's like, Wow,
- 8:57Speaker 1: she's pretty Lydia. Yeah, I'm like, not only is she
- 9:01Speaker 1: fucking beautiful, she is gorgeous, like her body, oh my body,
- 9:05Speaker 1: audio buying, Like she has so much going for her,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and it's because of this fucked up religion and the
- 9:13Speaker 1: way that Kim and Barry raised her that she's gonna
- 9:16Speaker 1: marry this young man after knowing him for three months,
- 9:21Speaker 1: this young man, you could get any man you want,
- 9:24Speaker 1: literally hedterosexual male and apparently gay males too. You can
- 9:29Speaker 1: get any male that you want. You're so beautiful. You're
- 9:31Speaker 1: also a kind person. You're a good person. There are
- 9:33Speaker 1: a lot of guys out there looking for Christian girls
- 9:35Speaker 1: and everything. How do the beautiful woman this person.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry, but this guy gave me the ick. I
- 9:45Speaker 2: told you that earlier today. I'm like, he gives me
- 9:47Speaker 2: the ick, and not because he's probably gay, but like
- 9:49Speaker 2: just because he's icky. I'm sorry, he's so weird. No,
- 9:54Speaker 2: he's just very strange.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Like my husband was watching as I was saying, and
- 9:58Speaker 1: he's just like why is he laughing in gig all
- 10:00Speaker 1: the time, constantly like bearing his teeth. I think there's
- 10:04Speaker 1: something wrong with people who like smile with like their
- 10:06Speaker 1: whole mouth and their gums and everything. Like some people
- 10:09Speaker 1: can't help because they have a lot of teeth. Like
- 10:11Speaker 1: I feel like he could. No, I feel like he
- 10:12Speaker 1: could help it, but he's just like bearing is all
- 10:14Speaker 1: his fucking teeth. There's something very crazy about it. I
- 10:17Speaker 1: don't know it just I just feel bad for Lydia
- 10:20Speaker 1: because I got married the first time when I was
- 10:23Speaker 1: eighteen years old. I came from Evangelicalism, charismatic Christianity, like
- 10:28Speaker 1: I had Jesus ideas about marriage, and that shit didn't
- 10:32Speaker 1: work out. Olivia had ideas about what marriage was going
- 10:36Speaker 1: to be, like so did Ethan. That didn't work out.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And here we see Lydia just marching into this fucked
- 10:42Speaker 1: up marriage. And you know he's got a micro penis.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Did you see his feet when he was talking to
- 10:46Speaker 1: Barry with them socks on, I'm like, they were this big.
- 10:48Speaker 1: They were baby feet.
- 10:49Speaker 2: There are so many things I could say about this
- 10:51Speaker 2: little baby feet, just colorad and gay guy.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I just know I'm sorry their wedding night. I hadn't
- 10:57Speaker 1: even kissed it.
- 10:58Speaker 2: They are Virgil.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Listen, he's gonna pull out his two incher and she's
- 11:02Speaker 1: gonna be like, oh, thank you Jesus. And she's not
- 11:05Speaker 1: gonna know better.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Because she never had sex with nobody. She don't think
- 11:09Speaker 2: it's great. No, And he was the one that suggested,
- 11:12Speaker 2: let's wait until we get married to kiss Yeah, let's wait,
- 11:15Speaker 2: because he doesn't know how to because he doesn't want
- 11:17Speaker 2: to kiss a woman or.
- 11:19Speaker 1: That, and also he doesn't want to have any sexual
- 11:22Speaker 1: activity because she's going to discover that he's got a
- 11:24Speaker 1: micro poenie.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and she's not.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Gonna know any better because nobody ever taught these kids
- 11:29Speaker 1: how to be human beings and be in relationships with
- 11:32Speaker 1: other people and like demand better for themselves. And so
- 11:35Speaker 1: Lydia is just so starry over this literal sweet young man.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I'm sure, and I know his mama loves him, and
- 11:43Speaker 1: Jesus sure, Like how did we get here?
- 11:46Speaker 2: Sure?
- 11:47Speaker 1: How did we get here? I don't know, girl, Okay,
- 11:50Speaker 1: So I'm sorry, I just had to. I'm coming out
- 11:53Speaker 1: the gate. You are with so many opinions.
- 11:55Speaker 2: On one today.
- 11:57Speaker 1: But that young man, I'm sure he's a great person,
- 12:00Speaker 1: but like we're just gonna marry him.
- 12:01Speaker 2: After three months? Four months?
- 12:03Speaker 1: Actually, I can't take it. Get the paddles art attack, Okay,
- 12:10Speaker 1: carry on, all right?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Well, we start the episode with a little brief recap
- 12:14Speaker 2: from Ethan with his big old beard and his big
- 12:18Speaker 2: old cigar, and then Kim and her sugar body.
- 12:22Speaker 1: My god, can we just pause because girl, I'm I'm
- 12:28Speaker 1: out here a literal bowling ball of a person. Okay,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I got a big old billion everything, and I got
- 12:34Speaker 1: big old booty, big old back, and I admit it
- 12:37Speaker 1: and I know it, and so I'm not here necessarily
- 12:41Speaker 1: to shame anybody. But when you take into consideration the
- 12:45Speaker 1: fact that Kim Plath raised these kids on no sugar,
- 12:50Speaker 1: no fast food, no fun, no alcohol. Remember Ethan when
- 12:55Speaker 1: he was married to Olivia, never had a pop, never
- 12:57Speaker 1: had a cook Yeah, never had anything because Kim was
- 13:02Speaker 1: telling these kids they couldn't do it. Meanwhile, year after year,
- 13:06Speaker 1: season after season, she's just getting bigger, sneaking off to
- 13:09Speaker 1: the barn, eating those m and ms and drinking her fucking.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Vodka We've said so many times too.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And having like a sugar coma from all the food
- 13:18Speaker 1: that she's ingesting on the side. And now here we
- 13:20Speaker 1: are in season seven. I know I'm going crazy and
- 13:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna pull back. But like what when
- 13:25Speaker 1: they showed her leaning over in the kitchen and she.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Was wearing oh it was in the kitchen, and then
- 13:31Speaker 2: in the charades when they were playing.
- 13:33Speaker 1: God and she's wearing black because like she feels like
- 13:35Speaker 1: if I'm wearing black, they can't see me because it's nighttime.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But I'm just like Kim.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Girl, she's let herself go.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I don't understand. I'm listen, Kim, Kim, it's not okay.
- 13:50Speaker 1: All of your children are like beautiful, I know. And
- 13:54Speaker 1: then here comes Berry or also known as Beeboop Bop Zaddie. Yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 1: I know, i'man out here with the pectorals and the
- 14:01Speaker 1: freaking biceps, and I'm just like damn Berry.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Absolutely jags with a beard and everything.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Like a non human entity. I think you're looking pretty good.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And then here comes Kim. I couldn't. I just felt
- 14:14Speaker 1: a certain way about it, did you?
- 14:16Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah? I think she thought the divorce was gonna
- 14:19Speaker 2: treat her like it treated Barry, because Berry had a
- 14:22Speaker 2: whole makeover, basically like he's gotten so much more attractive.
- 14:26Speaker 2: And that's saying a lot.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Who thought Berry c three po Berry?
- 14:30Speaker 2: But I mean season one Berry to season seven Berry
- 14:34Speaker 2: is like crazy transformation. And then you have season one
- 14:37Speaker 2: Kim and season seven Kim. I'm just gonna leave it there.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Well, this is a woman who wrapped her car around
- 14:45Speaker 1: a tree because she was driving drunk and I ain't
- 14:47Speaker 1: got no grace for people who drive drunk. I think
- 14:51Speaker 1: it's despicable and awful. But like, you've got such an
- 14:54Speaker 1: alcohol problem though, that you're driving drunk. Yeah, and you're
- 14:58Speaker 1: drinking all the time. Oh yeah, and it's showing up
- 15:01Speaker 1: in your belly and for some reason, sorry about it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: For some reason. She also mentions her and Ken that
- 15:10Speaker 1: man she had an adulteress affair with Isaac's pilot teacher guy. Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 1: because last year, like they were having dinner together, they
- 15:19Speaker 1: were kissy, kissy, But this year she's like, yeah, we
- 15:23Speaker 1: haven't had sex. I don't know if we're going to.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Well she just said, yeah, we're just friends right now.
- 15:28Speaker 2: We don't kiss, we don't fuck, we don't live together.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I'm like, hey, what.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Did you think about that, Beatrice? What do you think
- 15:34Speaker 1: is going on here?
- 15:35Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe he didn't want to be a
- 15:36Speaker 2: part of the limelight. Maybe he realized Kim's a big, old,
- 15:39Speaker 2: raging drunk.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Maybe she's gained seventy five pounds in the last year.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I don't know. Sorry, yeah, which, I mean a lot
- 15:46Speaker 1: of us have weight issues, but like it does speak
- 15:49Speaker 1: to your mental yeah, your mentals. Yeah, yeah, if like,
- 15:52Speaker 1: you're just out here just consuming alcohol and eating all
- 15:55Speaker 1: the McDonald's. I don't get it, Like Kim, your life
- 15:57Speaker 1: is out of control, and your pretending your life is
- 15:59Speaker 1: not out of control. You're all just pretending this mom
- 16:02Speaker 1: here is okay, this obese ballet dancer with her fucking
- 16:06Speaker 1: gym and stuff like, come on, let's call a thing
- 16:08Speaker 1: a thing. Sorry, I told you, I can't. I know
- 16:13Speaker 1: We've got a lot of fire for the after show,
- 16:16Speaker 1: but I'm starting out like I don't like anybody. Oh
- 16:18Speaker 1: my god, y'all are crazy for real.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Well I like some people, but anyway, we have the
- 16:22Speaker 2: recap with Ethan and Kim, and apparently Kim last year,
- 16:27Speaker 2: when she bought her midlife crisis turd boat, she realized
- 16:32Speaker 2: that it's not fun to live on a floating turd
- 16:36Speaker 2: in Florida, okay, the Florida Bay, And so she went
- 16:40Speaker 2: and bought herself a house I guess somewhere in Florida.
- 16:44Speaker 1: How can she afford it?
- 16:45Speaker 2: Credit card?
- 16:45Speaker 1: Her divorce is still being contested because Barry is making
- 16:49Speaker 1: it so difficult for her, which I love, Like, you
- 16:52Speaker 1: can't put a mortgage, you cannot finance a home, like
- 16:56Speaker 1: so where is that.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Maybe she's renting though people put rent on credit cards
- 17:00Speaker 2: to sit so maybe she's renting because I don't think
- 17:03Speaker 2: she can afford to buy a house on her own.
- 17:05Speaker 2: But she, I guess, got rid of the boat. And
- 17:07Speaker 2: then we have Mariah who moved back home to live
- 17:10Speaker 2: with Barry, which I think we saw last season. It
- 17:12Speaker 2: was after her bad breakup with mister potato Head. And
- 17:15Speaker 2: then we have Ethan saying that he's divorced from Olivia.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Life is great now, he can do what he wants,
- 17:21Speaker 2: he can see his family, he can see with his family,
- 17:23Speaker 2: which is great.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But they're not divorced technically, no.
- 17:26Speaker 2: But he says that they're broken up allegedly according to
- 17:29Speaker 2: Olivia that they haven't. He hasn't signed the papers or something.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I don't know. Micah moved in with Veronica. They have
- 17:37Speaker 2: since broken up, but in the season they've moved in together.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And then we have like a recap from the last
- 17:43Speaker 2: episode of season six where they had their family band
- 17:47Speaker 2: concert that was a total shit show because it was
- 17:50Speaker 2: all about Mariah breaking up with mister potato Head and
- 17:53Speaker 2: then she got back together with him at that concert
- 17:56Speaker 2: and her family freaked the fuck out about it, and
- 17:59Speaker 2: then we have with her new gay boyfriend, allegedly.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I don't know that he's gay. I think he's just
- 18:07Speaker 1: maybe socially oh, I think. But how are you living
- 18:10Speaker 1: in Denver, Colorado? I assume it's Denver, Maybe it's not.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Maybe it's in some sort of poe Heart of col Peblo. Yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 1: some like that. But how but he looks like he's
- 18:19Speaker 1: from Denver, and having lived there for many years, I
- 18:22Speaker 1: can tell you he looks like he's from Denver, YEP
- 18:24Speaker 1: or the Springs or whatever. Like, how do you live
- 18:27Speaker 1: in a somewhat sophisticated place like that and have like
- 18:30Speaker 1: absolutely no social skills? Honey?
- 18:33Speaker 2: Well, if you're raised FUNDI yeah, if you're stuck in
- 18:35Speaker 2: like a youth group, yeah, you kind of are stunted
- 18:37Speaker 2: socially like that. But it's perfect for Lyddy, I guess,
- 18:41Speaker 2: because she's also socially stunted.
- 18:42Speaker 1: She's not though, I mean, I understand she's in a
- 18:45Speaker 1: closet with her notes and her Jesus stuff, but like,
- 18:48Speaker 1: she's actually very amiable. She has a job, she can
- 18:52Speaker 1: talk to people, she can socialize. This guy is such
- 18:56Speaker 1: a deep dude. I know he's such a door.
- 18:58Speaker 2: He really gives me the I don't know what it
- 19:00Speaker 2: is about him. But then we start the episode with
- 19:03Speaker 2: Kim at her new house in Florida or whatever. She's
- 19:06Speaker 2: hosting a family dinner get together. Except Micah no sorry,
- 19:12Speaker 2: except Mariah and Ethan couldn't make it because Mariah to
- 19:15Speaker 2: work and Ethan's out of town. But Kim invited all
- 19:18Speaker 2: the children over and Barry because they're still trying to
- 19:23Speaker 2: be cordial for the sake of the children and the
- 19:26Speaker 2: TV show. And so they're having a family dinner and
- 19:30Speaker 2: this is where she talks about Ken and how they're
- 19:33Speaker 2: not hooking, which is weird.
- 19:35Speaker 1: And it's weird that you would say that. I know,
- 19:37Speaker 1: why would you bring that up. I don't know why, Like,
- 19:40Speaker 1: I know, you're addressing Ken and maybe he's not going
- 19:42Speaker 1: to be on the season, but you could just say, yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 1: we're not together anymore. I don't know. It's just weird
- 19:46Speaker 1: that she would mention that they're not having sex. Don't
- 19:48Speaker 1: you think that's weird?
- 19:49Speaker 2: It's very bizarre. Well maybe it's like she's looking at
- 19:52Speaker 2: Barry and is like, dang, how could you not? I mean, dude,
- 19:55Speaker 2: he glowed up.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He has got to be just so thrilled with himself,
- 20:01Speaker 1: like walking into that room looking so fly.
- 20:05Speaker 2: His muscles bulging out of it.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I know, like she's just walking around like Kim, and
- 20:12Speaker 1: she's got to be thinking about all that she no
- 20:15Speaker 1: longer has because she made the decision to be an
- 20:18Speaker 1: adulteress and a drunk straight up.
- 20:21Speaker 2: It's crazy to me, but we're just all pretending like
- 20:23Speaker 2: everything's fine.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I would love if you talked about it.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I know it would be really great instead of playing charades,
- 20:28Speaker 2: but like whatever. And then we kind of hear from
- 20:31Speaker 2: Micah in these scenes where he's talking about how there's
- 20:34Speaker 2: tension between Veronica and the family, very similar to the
- 20:39Speaker 2: shit that happened with Olivia and Ethan, and Micah kind
- 20:43Speaker 2: of touches on it. He says that Veronica feels like
- 20:47Speaker 2: the family is after her. So he didn't say that
- 20:50Speaker 2: the family hates her. He said Veronica feels this way, right,
- 20:54Speaker 2: And we'll get into it later in the episode. And
- 20:56Speaker 2: then we kind of hear from Isaac a little bit.
- 20:59Speaker 2: He's dating a girl.
- 21:00Speaker 1: My god, it was looking at little Ice all. He's
- 21:04Speaker 1: not little anymore, tall drink of water. He's definitely taller
- 21:08Speaker 1: than Ethan and Micah. He is working as a farm
- 21:12Speaker 1: hand or something, and we're going to get to all
- 21:14Speaker 1: of that. But I'm just like, oh my god, I've
- 21:15Speaker 1: missed you young men. And I know I'm like just
- 21:18Speaker 1: some old lady and everything, but I just I do
- 21:20Speaker 1: harken back and remember the days when I could have
- 21:23Speaker 1: pulled a young Isaac plaiths owns his own plane and
- 21:30Speaker 1: traged Oh my god, man, I'm impressed.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I know me too, Yeah, very much, sir. I love it,
- 21:39Speaker 2: and even like Micah, like Mike is looking so hands.
- 21:41Speaker 1: You cannot tell me that he's not absolutely angelically beautiful,
- 21:46Speaker 1: absolutely the most beautiful Plaith currently in existence, although Amber
- 21:50Speaker 1: is coming up behind.
- 21:51Speaker 2: It, and the Amber is just like Amber is a
- 21:53Speaker 2: smoke show.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Beauteously Lydia's gordeous, but like I think it is Amber
- 22:00Speaker 1: out of all the girls, although we've got a couple
- 22:02Speaker 1: of young girls coming up too. But Micah's very handsome.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Oh objectively for sure. And then we have like flashbacks
- 22:10Speaker 2: to how the family used to be, how they've kind
- 22:12Speaker 2: of changed over the years, and Micah talks about it,
- 22:14Speaker 2: like how they all kind of went their own way,
- 22:16Speaker 2: especially the older kids and they had to figure some
- 22:19Speaker 2: shit out. They even went no contact for a bit,
- 22:22Speaker 2: but they're all kind of coming together and like trying
- 22:24Speaker 2: to reunite, which is really good. And then we have
- 22:28Speaker 2: Ethan and a little interstitial saying that he's looking for
- 22:31Speaker 2: a big titty babe.
- 22:33Speaker 1: He just said it. It was kind of there, we
- 22:35Speaker 1: said it. It's kind of funny. I mean he's a man,
- 22:38Speaker 1: he's a young man with testosterone, and that's kind of
- 22:40Speaker 1: the deal.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, like what can you expect? Right, And then,
- 22:44Speaker 2: in true plaithfill fashion, we flash on over to Lydia
- 22:50Speaker 2: singing to Jesus.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that was so cringey, Like.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Please stop singing.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, Lyddya's who told you? But
- 23:01Speaker 1: I understand. Also it is an expression of your love
- 23:06Speaker 1: for Jesus Christ, and that's meaningful and I'm going to
- 23:09Speaker 1: give that to you. However, I also know that you
- 23:12Speaker 1: have released albums and like you you do this, you
- 23:16Speaker 1: think you do this professional. She shouldn't. Please, I'm just please,
- 23:19Speaker 1: it's not good.
- 23:20Speaker 2: You got a warble. Yeah, it's a very.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Warbly, quivery, quiver full kind of voice. And I'm just like,
- 23:27Speaker 1: I understand you're worshiping your Lord and Savior. Yeah, but
- 23:30Speaker 1: it's so bad it is I like to get up
- 23:33Speaker 1: and walk out of the room for a little while,
- 23:35Speaker 1: just pretend it's not happening.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I literally wrote my notes. I'm like, please stop, why
- 23:40Speaker 2: are we singing to God?
- 23:41Speaker 1: He stop? God gets it straight up. He got it
- 23:44Speaker 1: when you read He read your notes. We don't have
- 23:46Speaker 1: to continue to do this for God.
- 23:49Speaker 2: He guess they know God. But this is where we
- 23:53Speaker 2: see her and her new boyfriend, Zach Wise, who she
- 23:57Speaker 2: ultimately ends up marrying. We know this already, but this
- 24:01Speaker 2: is the beginning of our impression of him. Yeah, and
- 24:06Speaker 2: they've only been dating for like four months or whatever.
- 24:10Speaker 2: They met well, I think on a mission trip or
- 24:12Speaker 2: something in Colorado. I think she was up in Colorado.
- 24:15Speaker 2: She met him there and he was like, oh sweet,
- 24:19Speaker 2: a young, impressionable Christian girl that I can convince that
- 24:21Speaker 2: I'm totally yes, And so I guess they hit it off.
- 24:26Speaker 2: They kind of started dating. I think after two weeks
- 24:29Speaker 2: they realized that they were gonna be together forever. Zach
- 24:34Speaker 2: was the one that suggested they should wait for kissing
- 24:38Speaker 2: until marriage, and Lydia's like, oh my god, I've always
- 24:42Speaker 2: they've always wanted that, and their their moments were so
- 24:46Speaker 2: awkward to me because Lydia is very obviously sprung over
- 24:50Speaker 2: this guy for some reason. She says she's excited to
- 24:53Speaker 2: kiss him on their wedding day. He's totally silent about it.
- 24:57Speaker 2: He actually like playfully pushes her away at one point,
- 25:02Speaker 2: and I'm like, that's not funny. No, it's not funny.
- 25:06Speaker 1: It's not funny. And I just think of all the
- 25:10Speaker 1: lovely young women in the world who have been sucked
- 25:13Speaker 1: into these various cults, whether they're Christian or Mormon or whatever,
- 25:18Speaker 1: and given away to these men who are not worthy
- 25:23Speaker 1: of all of their charms and gifts and talents. And
- 25:28Speaker 1: I mean again, I say, I'm sure Zach's a nice
- 25:31Speaker 1: young man. I'm sure he's got dreams and hopes for
- 25:33Speaker 1: his future. But like Lydia, you have been so underserved
- 25:38Speaker 1: by your family. Like somebody, Mariah, you should have sat
- 25:41Speaker 1: Lydia down, And I say, this is what a penis is,
- 25:44Speaker 1: this is where it goes. These are the types of
- 25:45Speaker 1: guys you might meet. Sometimes they're married, and Mariah would know,
- 25:49Speaker 1: sometimes they're not, you know, but like somebody give her
- 25:52Speaker 1: some life lessons so that she can select for herself
- 25:56Speaker 1: better than she currently is. I'm just I feel so
- 25:59Speaker 1: bad because I don't think this is gonna work. I'm sorry,
- 26:02Speaker 1: unless they stay so indoctrinated in whatever religion they're a
- 26:06Speaker 1: part of, and they have a mess of babies and
- 26:09Speaker 1: so it gets really complicated to split. But like, I
- 26:12Speaker 1: just don't see that it's gonna work. And then you're
- 26:15Speaker 1: gonna get to your wedding night.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I know I can't.
- 26:18Speaker 1: You're gonna have some sort of beautiful angelic lingerie or
- 26:21Speaker 1: a nightgown or whatever, and he's gonna be like in boxers,
- 26:25Speaker 1: he's gonna have like a micro penis and it won't
- 26:27Speaker 1: even be able to get hard because you would rather
- 26:30Speaker 1: be with the man, and somebody's like gonna work as
- 26:32Speaker 1: hard as he can. I do an erect penis for
- 26:35Speaker 1: your beautiful body. Line, I know your beautiful body.
- 26:38Speaker 2: You're gonna waste your beautiful body.
- 26:40Speaker 1: It's not gonna know what the fuck he's doing. It's
- 26:42Speaker 1: gonna be one pump and then a dump. Maybe you're
- 26:45Speaker 1: gonna be like you have. You're not gonna have any
- 26:47Speaker 1: idea what good sex is unless I don't know, maybe
- 26:49Speaker 1: you watch some porn but you won't because you're in
- 26:52Speaker 1: a cult. Like I just I just long. I grieve
- 26:58Speaker 1: for the years that she's gonna be spending toiling in
- 27:00Speaker 1: this ridiculous relationship. I know, such a beautiful young woman. Goddamn,
- 27:05Speaker 1: why don't you just encourage her to go to university? Kim,
- 27:08Speaker 1: you got to go to college. That's where you met Barry.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Barry you were married before you met Kim. You went
- 27:13Speaker 1: to university. Can we send your kids to get an education? No? God,
- 27:17Speaker 1: it gets so mad.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I know they're really frustrating. And this whole scene with
- 27:22Speaker 2: Lydia and Zach. Look, I'm gonna be very clear. I
- 27:24Speaker 2: know I'm joking about the fact that I think he's gay.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I do stand by that, but I'm not saying that
- 27:30Speaker 2: in like a mean way. She isn't either. We're not
- 27:32Speaker 2: saying this like to be derogatory towards him. Maybe he's
- 27:36Speaker 2: just socially awkward. I really hope for that. I hope
- 27:39Speaker 2: maybe he's just a socially awkward straight guy. I hope
- 27:42Speaker 2: he gives Lydia the best bang in sex of her life.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I don't think that's gonna happen. I worry about her.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I worry about her with this marriage. I worry about
- 27:51Speaker 2: her with this guy. Not because I think he's like
- 27:53Speaker 2: a prey or anything. No, I just don't think that
- 27:56Speaker 2: like she's gonna be satisfied sexually or emotion relationally in
- 28:01Speaker 2: this marriage.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Is always going to be about Jesus and that's it.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Do you think he's ever gonna be incentivized to learn
- 28:07Speaker 1: cunny lingis no like how to really please a woman.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Absolutely not.
- 28:10Speaker 1: He's just gonna try and get her pregnant. Yeah, have
- 28:12Speaker 1: a mess of babies.
- 28:13Speaker 2: He's gonna try because he's not gonna be able to.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I don't know. I hope that he said girl and
- 28:19Speaker 1: it's again. I mean, we're this is a comedy podcast.
- 28:22Speaker 1: We're making jokes obviously, but like if he is also
- 28:24Speaker 1: if he is almost sexual mean or bisexual or whatever,
- 28:28Speaker 1: Like I don't want this for him either. No, like
- 28:30Speaker 1: a sweet young man, he does seem very innocent. I
- 28:34Speaker 1: love that about him. He's very there's a very childlike
- 28:36Speaker 1: aspect to him. But like I wouldn't want him to
- 28:39Speaker 1: be in a situation where he can't be happy because
- 28:42Speaker 1: he can't be himself, Like I think like Lydia is
- 28:45Speaker 1: being herself as she knows herself to be at this time.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Reade twenty years of age or whatever. Agreed, but like,
- 28:51Speaker 1: this is not going to be the same person she
- 28:53Speaker 1: is in even three years, five years, much less ten years.
- 28:57Speaker 2: I just I don't know. I get a bad feeling
- 28:59Speaker 2: about all of it. And this is where we hear
- 29:01Speaker 2: that Zach wants to ask Barry for her hand in marriage,
- 29:04Speaker 2: which we'll get to later in that episode.
- 29:07Speaker 1: But it was so cringey, dude, so crazy. That was nuts.
- 29:11Speaker 2: It was so nuts. And then we switch gears and
- 29:13Speaker 2: we go over to Micah and Veronica's house in Boca Raton,
- 29:18Speaker 2: Florida or whatever. They have been dating for two years now.
- 29:22Speaker 2: They look so happy together.
- 29:25Speaker 1: She's abusing him, dude, she's terrorizing him. She is so mean.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say it outright. She is so fucking mean.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Because they talk about how they bought another house like
- 29:37Speaker 2: three minutes down the road. They're gonna renovate it or whatever,
- 29:40Speaker 2: and then I maybe live in it, maybe sell it.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I don't know, But like Micah says something to the
- 29:45Speaker 2: effect of like I've been working to the bone every
- 29:47Speaker 2: day and every night for weeks straight. And then Veronica
- 29:51Speaker 2: cuts them off, and she goes, well, we both have,
- 29:54Speaker 2: we both have because God forbid. He just says to
- 29:57Speaker 2: the camera he's been working for the bone, which I
- 30:00Speaker 2: believe that he has been.
- 30:01Speaker 1: You know what that reminded me of. It reminded me
- 30:04Speaker 1: of Kate and John Goslin on the couch when he's
- 30:06Speaker 1: just sitting there and she's like, oh my God, why
- 30:09Speaker 1: do you have to breathe so loudly? And he's like, Jesus,
- 30:12Speaker 1: I'm literally just sitting here existing and it's an offense
- 30:15Speaker 1: to you. That is exactly That's what it was giving
- 30:18Speaker 1: from Veronica, Like she has a real hard edge to her,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and you know what, in many ways in your life
- 30:24Speaker 1: that is going to serve you. Sure, I'm sure it's
- 30:26Speaker 1: great in business. I'm sure that that's wonderful for you,
- 30:30Speaker 1: but like in relationships, that is such a difficult personality
- 30:35Speaker 1: to have to be contend with.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Yep, And she literally has a sign in their house.
- 30:39Speaker 2: It's like, oh, I'm totally fine if everything goes exactly
- 30:43Speaker 2: to my plan always on. That's literally like a sign.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And it's like every bad thing about Kim Yep that
- 30:52Speaker 1: might exist, like maybe she's a little mean, maybe she
- 30:54Speaker 1: was passive aggressive. Maybe she did some terrible things, but
- 30:57Speaker 1: like maybe it was a bit more hidden. Like they
- 30:59Speaker 1: are on full display in Veronica. And that old adage
- 31:04Speaker 1: that we kind of attract or are drawn to people
- 31:07Speaker 1: who remind us of our parents if we don't get therapized,
- 31:10Speaker 1: didn't like become aware, Like that is so clear to me.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Although Kim is not as direct and overt as Veronica is,
- 31:17Speaker 1: I think Veronica embodies a lot of that toxic shit
- 31:21Speaker 1: that Kim has long had and demonstrated on her family.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I just Veronica is a fucking trip.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Man, Dude, She's a trip. And it's crazy to me
- 31:30Speaker 2: because you remember last season where we were keeping her
- 31:33Speaker 2: a secret because she was supposed to be shy and
- 31:36Speaker 2: she didn't want to be on the camera and she
- 31:38Speaker 2: was like really quiet, and last season she was super awkward,
- 31:42Speaker 2: very fucking shy, like not saying a lot too much,
- 31:45Speaker 2: like every now and then the producers would catch her
- 31:47Speaker 2: saying something nasty a little bit. But this year it's
- 31:51Speaker 2: like full on, gloves are off. She doesn't care because
- 31:55Speaker 2: right after we talk about her and Mica buying her house,
- 32:00Speaker 2: right into Mariah because apparently Veronica has issues with Mariah
- 32:05Speaker 2: now because of some bullshit.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Right, Well, so the issue is that when Mariah was
- 32:11Speaker 1: dating the married potato Head, Yeah, she was talking to
- 32:15Speaker 1: Veronica every single day, sometimes three times a day, kind
- 32:17Speaker 1: of fighting in Veronica, and so Veronica was giving her
- 32:21Speaker 1: counsel like girlfriends do. And then Mariah breaks up with
- 32:26Speaker 1: potato Head and then gets back together with potato Head,
- 32:30Speaker 1: and then there's that scene in the studio where everybody's
- 32:33Speaker 1: talking about potato Head and Veronica and Ethan are talking
- 32:38Speaker 1: about how like he's supposed to have like a child,
- 32:41Speaker 1: like it's a terrible situation and all this stuff. Well, Mariah,
- 32:44Speaker 1: when she got back together with potato Head, she started
- 32:46Speaker 1: to resent Veronica for sharing the things that she did
- 32:50Speaker 1: according to Veronica. According to Veronica, Veronica's like, well, but
- 32:54Speaker 1: Ethan was saying the same thing at the same time,
- 32:57Speaker 1: so it's not fair that you would single me out.
- 33:00Speaker 1: But at the same time, there's a higher level of
- 33:02Speaker 1: relationship that Mariah has with Ethan, that's her brother. Of course, Veronica,
- 33:06Speaker 1: you are you don't have that same you don't share
- 33:09Speaker 1: the same connectivity. So I can dig it though, Like
- 33:12Speaker 1: if I'm Veronica and I've been your confidant for months,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and you've been sharing all of this information and then
- 33:18Speaker 1: you break up with this guy, thank god, and then
- 33:20Speaker 1: we're talking about it freely with your family, and then
- 33:23Speaker 1: you get back with him and then you ghost me
- 33:25Speaker 1: or whatever. Yeah, like that's not cool. That is not
- 33:28Speaker 1: being a good friend. But the level to which she
- 33:33Speaker 1: takes this is out of control. So we've got a
- 33:36Speaker 1: little Amber, Micah's sister, fifteen years old, who's come into
- 33:40Speaker 1: town to Florida visiting from Georgia. Because she is very
- 33:44Speaker 1: important to her. She said this with her big girl words.
- 33:47Speaker 1: She's like, it's a priority for me to work on
- 33:50Speaker 1: my relationships with my siblings. So she's there for Micah
- 33:54Speaker 1: and to keep that connection going. And so she's sitting
- 33:57Speaker 1: down with Veronica. They're both putting on their makeup, and
- 34:02Speaker 1: the subject of Mariah comes up, and the subject of
- 34:05Speaker 1: Barry comes up, and Micah's standing there and Veronica starts
- 34:10Speaker 1: to go off about Micah's dad, Amber's dad, and then Mariah,
- 34:16Speaker 1: their sister no filter called they called me a liar.
- 34:21Speaker 1: You didn't even stand up for me, and who does
- 34:23Speaker 1: she think she is? The way to like? And Amber
- 34:27Speaker 1: tries to defend Mariah a little bit well, as she
- 34:30Speaker 1: did apologize to you, she sent you the letter.
- 34:33Speaker 2: We haven't gone to that part yet.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but like I'm just I know I'm going off.
- 34:37Speaker 1: But like that scene with Amber and Veronica, to me,
- 34:42Speaker 1: was so abusive, like to be so unconscious, to just
- 34:45Speaker 1: be rate this little girl's father and sister in front
- 34:49Speaker 1: of her, like what are you doing well?
- 34:51Speaker 2: And Micah is literally trying to tell Veronica, like, my
- 34:54Speaker 2: dad never called you a liar. He said that you
- 34:57Speaker 2: lied about this one thing, but that doesn't mean that
- 35:00Speaker 2: you're a liar. And then Veronica escalates even further and
- 35:03Speaker 2: is like, well, but that's my character. He called me
- 35:05Speaker 2: a liar. And then she starts talking about how Mariah
- 35:08Speaker 2: is a bad person, a bad friend, she lied to her,
- 35:12Speaker 2: and she's saying all of this shit to Amber. It's
- 35:15Speaker 2: really ridiculous.
- 35:17Speaker 1: It's abusive.
- 35:17Speaker 2: It's abusive. And this is what Olivia did in a
- 35:20Speaker 2: much subtler way, like behind the scenes with Mariah, with Mariah,
- 35:25Speaker 2: and she did it to the littles too. She did
- 35:26Speaker 2: it to Amber, she did to the other ones. I
- 35:29Speaker 2: forget their names. I'm sorry Cassia and Mercy and Mercy,
- 35:32Speaker 2: and there's another one Amber.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I think that's it.
- 35:36Speaker 2: I don't remember. Okay, oh, she did it to the littles.
- 35:38Speaker 2: And now we have Veronica doing it the same thing.
- 35:41Speaker 2: And Micah's trying to write a fine line, and he
- 35:44Speaker 2: even talks about this, He's like, you know, there's a
- 35:47Speaker 2: lot of this tension between Veronica and my family. I
- 35:50Speaker 2: don't want to end up like Ethan, and I don't
- 35:53Speaker 2: want to end up having to choose one or the other.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Like I'm writing a very fine line of trying to
- 36:00Speaker 2: be there for my girlfriend but not sacrifice my relationships
- 36:03Speaker 2: with my family. And I thought that was so awesome,
- 36:06Speaker 2: and it just speaks to like Micah's piscy and energy,
- 36:10Speaker 2: like he feels for everybody. He's like trying to be
- 36:12Speaker 2: the advocate for everyone. But then you have Veronica the
- 36:15Speaker 2: freaking tornado over here.
- 36:16Speaker 1: She's just escalating, yea, and like making it as bad
- 36:19Speaker 1: as possible and refusing to kind of see the middle
- 36:22Speaker 1: ground or like what somebody might have meant so that
- 36:25Speaker 1: you can make it better, not just for yourself because
- 36:27Speaker 1: you seem really angry, but also for your partner. He's
- 36:30Speaker 1: trying to mitigate this and trying to figure a way through,
- 36:34Speaker 1: so it's not terrible, and you're doing it in front
- 36:36Speaker 1: of a child, somebody who's impressionable, as if you're trying
- 36:40Speaker 1: to turn her against her family, and that does have
- 36:43Speaker 1: echoes to what Olivia did. Definitely, Yeah, it's but I
- 36:48Speaker 1: mean I think Olivia honestly was unconscious a lot of
- 36:52Speaker 1: the time to what she was doing. Personally. I think
- 36:55Speaker 1: that she was also somebody who's been deeply traumatized and
- 36:59Speaker 1: needed ally needed people on her side because there was
- 37:02Speaker 1: a deeper emotional driver for Olivia. With Veronica, it is
- 37:06Speaker 1: like right on Front Street. Yeah, and it is vitriolic, poisonous, mean,
- 37:12Speaker 1: as you said, and it's just crazy. And I'm like,
- 37:15Speaker 1: I feel like, Micah, you are an abused person. And
- 37:18Speaker 1: I'm not saying Mike is perfect, because of course Veronica
- 37:21Speaker 1: has talked about how he cheated on her and all
- 37:23Speaker 1: the stuff. We'll talk about it in the after show, Like,
- 37:26Speaker 1: and he may have done those things, I don't know,
- 37:28Speaker 1: but like, the way you're treating him now on camera
- 37:32Speaker 1: in front of a child is not a good look
- 37:35Speaker 1: at all.
- 37:36Speaker 2: And Veronica's saying shit nowadays about how the producers are
- 37:39Speaker 2: giving her a bad edit this year and trying to
- 37:42Speaker 2: turn us against her, and I'm like, you're doing it yourself.
- 37:45Speaker 1: They cannot use anything that you don't give them.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Like you're literally doing it all yourself. They're just filming there,
- 37:50Speaker 2: They're not editing anything, like they're just filming it.
- 37:53Speaker 1: But I digress well, And I also want to say,
- 37:56Speaker 1: like when we meet Olivia, she's a bit younger, and
- 38:00Speaker 1: were meeting Veronica at I think Veronica's twenty five, twenty
- 38:03Speaker 1: six around that time. When we met Olivia, she was
- 38:06Speaker 1: nineteen or twenty years old. She was a younger girl,
- 38:09Speaker 1: I believe. So I think Olivia is only twenty five now, right.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Olivia I think is twenty six or twenty seven. I
- 38:15Speaker 2: think Veronica is twenty two in this season. Oh really, yeah,
- 38:18Speaker 2: so she got it totally. Well, yeah, but Olivia was younger.
- 38:21Speaker 1: She was younger, so like in her process, yeah, she
- 38:25Speaker 1: was still transforming. She was trying to figure herself out
- 38:28Speaker 1: and trying to discover like, well, what do I really need,
- 38:31Speaker 1: what do I want? What have I been through? Like
- 38:33Speaker 1: I could really appreciate the process in Olivia, whereas with Veronica,
- 38:38Speaker 1: like she seems to start from that point of just like, no,
- 38:41Speaker 1: fuck all, y'all, you won't do this shit to me.
- 38:44Speaker 1: And the way that she uses her words and her
- 38:48Speaker 1: viper mouth, her viper's mouth is viprous, the word snaky mouth,
- 38:52Speaker 1: Like I'm just like I can't with you, lady, well
- 38:55Speaker 1: and I cannot.
- 38:56Speaker 2: It's very like all or nothing. There is no grace
- 38:59Speaker 2: for anybody. There is no understanding, there's no nuance at all.
- 39:03Speaker 2: It's like Mariah does this one shitty thing right, like
- 39:07Speaker 2: as a friend, and like, look, I feel like we've
- 39:09Speaker 2: all had girlfriends who have done this kind of shit
- 39:11Speaker 2: where you are telling them until you're blue in the face,
- 39:14Speaker 2: like this guy that you're with is a piece of
- 39:16Speaker 2: shit or this person that you're with is a piece
- 39:18Speaker 2: of shit, like you need to break up with them,
- 39:19Speaker 2: and then they break up with them, and then they
- 39:21Speaker 2: get back together with them. Like I feel like everybody
- 39:23Speaker 2: has a story like that. Does that make Mariah a
- 39:26Speaker 2: bad person? No, But she's naive. She's also young. She
- 39:30Speaker 2: doesn't know what the fuck she's doing.
- 39:32Speaker 1: But she was wrong.
- 39:33Speaker 2: She did that.
- 39:34Speaker 1: That was wrong, of course, But we get to do
- 39:36Speaker 1: wrong things exactly and then try to make amends for
- 39:39Speaker 1: them exactly. When so apparently Mariah sent a letter.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Let's get to that, okay, because Mariah. Yeah, because Mariah.
- 39:47Speaker 2: We see her with her black hair in the Okay
- 39:50Speaker 2: park in a church parking lot.
- 39:52Speaker 1: What do we think about the hair?
- 39:53Speaker 2: Terrible? It's so bad it washes her out.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Why.
- 39:57Speaker 2: But I think she's going through her emo phase. And look,
- 39:59Speaker 2: I've had that.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Always screaming for attention, and it's like taking a contrast,
- 40:04Speaker 1: like to the very end of the scale so that
- 40:06Speaker 1: somebody notices you. I'm like, no, you're pretty without that.
- 40:09Speaker 1: But I mean, I don't know that she wants to
- 40:10Speaker 1: be pretty. I think she wants to be seen.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I think she wants to yeah, and she wants to
- 40:14Speaker 2: be different, and she wants to like break out of
- 40:15Speaker 2: her mold and still.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Be therapy out. Please go to therapy, dude.
- 40:19Speaker 2: If anybody needs therapy, it's poor little Mariah. Yeah, all
- 40:22Speaker 2: of them do. Like everybody in this family needs therapy,
- 40:25Speaker 2: but Mariah.
- 40:27Speaker 1: The subreddits hate Mariah, I know, And I'm like, wow, guys,
- 40:31Speaker 1: she's like twenty two years old when she grew up
- 40:33Speaker 1: in a literal cult.
- 40:35Speaker 2: And she's like really trying to figure her shit out.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and she's getting a lot of things wrong, of course,
- 40:40Speaker 1: and she has alopecia. She lost all of her hair
- 40:44Speaker 1: and not just patches, like all season, she lost all
- 40:48Speaker 1: of her hair. Yeah, So like she is going through
- 40:50Speaker 1: so much, and like the way there's no grace for
- 40:53Speaker 1: her on some of these subreddits, Like it's not that
- 40:56Speaker 1: she's not getting things wrong, she is, of course, Like
- 40:58Speaker 1: there's just no space to have I know, I don't
- 41:01Speaker 1: get it.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I don't get it at all. But we see her
- 41:04Speaker 2: in the church parking lot and she's talking to the
- 41:05Speaker 2: producers and this is where she talks about the issues
- 41:08Speaker 2: with Veronica, and she does acknowledge it. She acknowledges that
- 41:12Speaker 2: what she did was wrong with going back with mister
- 41:14Speaker 2: potato Head and like causing all of this drama and havoc,
- 41:17Speaker 2: and she's really trying to figure her shit out. And
- 41:20Speaker 2: she talks about her friendship with Veronica, about how she
- 41:23Speaker 2: tried to confide in her about some things but they
- 41:27Speaker 2: got blown out of proportion on Veronica's part, and so
- 41:30Speaker 2: Mariah tried to step back a little bit and in
- 41:34Speaker 2: doing so probably ghosted, just like she did with her
- 41:38Speaker 2: siblings a couple of years ago and with Olivia and
- 41:40Speaker 2: everything this is Mariah's m O. But Mariah does say
- 41:45Speaker 2: Veronica's got a really strong personality and she has a
- 41:48Speaker 2: really difficult time standing up and expressing herself to people
- 41:53Speaker 2: who have such strong personalities valid, which is completely fucking valid.
- 41:57Speaker 2: And she it's kind of echoing the stuf with Olivia too,
- 42:00Speaker 2: because Olivia has a pretty strong personality as well. So
- 42:04Speaker 2: I don't know, I'm feeling for Mariah here. Mariah says
- 42:07Speaker 2: that she felt the need to apologize to Veronica, and
- 42:11Speaker 2: she didn't know how to do it, because again, she
- 42:13Speaker 2: doesn't know how to express herself to somebody with such
- 42:15Speaker 2: a strong personality, And so she wrote Veronica a letter.
- 42:20Speaker 2: And then we bop back on over to Veronica and
- 42:23Speaker 2: Mike on the couch and Veronica brings out the letter.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Dot Dot reads the letter, reads it out loud. We
- 42:30Speaker 1: hear the letter, and I'm thinking, that's a great apology,
- 42:36Speaker 1: Like that's taking ownership for the shit that I did.
- 42:40Speaker 1: That's apologizing saying I'm sorry for the shit that I did.
- 42:44Speaker 1: And it's like, and I'd love to get back to
- 42:46Speaker 1: a place. I realized it's probably never going to be
- 42:48Speaker 1: what it was, but I'd love to get back to
- 42:50Speaker 1: a place where this can be copaesthetic, there can be
- 42:53Speaker 1: some harmony, like I thought in terms of emotional intelligence,
- 42:57Speaker 1: like emotional EQ like I thought Mariah did really well.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Well yeah, and there's Veronica sitting on the couch reading
- 43:05Speaker 1: this and just with such disdain, like just dripping with
- 43:10Speaker 1: dismissal and like, oh, okay, well but it wasn't a
- 43:14Speaker 1: good enough apology. The fact she's twenty two is very
- 43:19Speaker 1: telling to me. Yep, this speaks a lot to the
- 43:22Speaker 1: kind of family that she comes from and how they
- 43:25Speaker 1: communicated and expressed and how they forgave and did not forgive,
- 43:30Speaker 1: And like her own emotional intelligence, which if you ask me,
- 43:32Speaker 1: is absolutely bare minimum, isn't even there. She's just a
- 43:35Speaker 1: mean person who looks for an opportunity to dominate and
- 43:39Speaker 1: to control. And then you've got Mariah speaking in this
- 43:42Speaker 1: little girl voice, huh, which always puts me on edge
- 43:45Speaker 1: because for me, when adult women speak in a little
- 43:48Speaker 1: girl voice, that tends to mean to me that they
- 43:51Speaker 1: were abused somehow, and they're trying to present themselves as
- 43:55Speaker 1: small as possible, as little as possible, as soft as possible,
- 44:00Speaker 1: they're not attacked. Yeah, so you've got Mariah over here,
- 44:02Speaker 1: who did something wrong, and she's owning it and she's
- 44:04Speaker 1: trying to make amends. And then you've got big head
- 44:08Speaker 1: Veronica with her ass mouth yeah, and her mean fucking aura, Yeah,
- 44:14Speaker 1: just ripping her to shreds. It's not safe for Mariah
- 44:17Speaker 1: to be in a relationship with this woman. It's not
- 44:19Speaker 1: at all anybody to be in a relationship with this person.
- 44:23Speaker 2: And if you ask me, and it's like, not only
- 44:25Speaker 2: does she read the letter out loud on air, then
- 44:28Speaker 2: she reads it again with Amber and Micah when she's
- 44:32Speaker 2: doing her makeup, and she starts dissecting it with Mariah's
- 44:36Speaker 2: siblings and starts telling Amber, who is speaking very kindly,
- 44:41Speaker 2: like very mouse like, being like, well, but she tried
- 44:43Speaker 2: to apologize for it here. She said that she's sorry
- 44:46Speaker 2: that she treated you this way, and Veronica immediately shuts
- 44:49Speaker 2: it down and is like, no, it's not a real
- 44:51Speaker 2: apology because she lied, and she needed to say that
- 44:54Speaker 2: she was sorry for lying to me, because that was
- 44:56Speaker 2: what was the issue. And then Micah again tries to
- 45:00Speaker 2: defend Mariah, and Veronica again shoots him down and says, no,
- 45:04Speaker 2: she's in the she's in the wrong, and so is Barry,
- 45:06Speaker 2: because Barry called me a liar and I don't trust
- 45:09Speaker 2: your family and you don't stand up for me. And again,
- 45:11Speaker 2: what does that sound like Olivia fucking Plath?
- 45:15Speaker 1: But way worse, way worse, way worse than Olivia Plath.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And when you zoom out and look at the timeline,
- 45:24Speaker 1: we're not at the wedding yet we know shit goes
- 45:26Speaker 1: down at the wedding. Veronica leaves early and things like that.
- 45:29Speaker 1: When you zoom out and you realize Micah has left her,
- 45:32Speaker 1: and you see her behavior right now. Oh yeah, so
- 45:34Speaker 1: before they're breaking up, before they're even thinking about breaking up,
- 45:37Speaker 1: you see her behavior as she conducts herself in a
- 45:41Speaker 1: relationship with somebody. It makes total sense to me that
- 45:44Speaker 1: she's no longer with Micah. And now you've got her
- 45:46Speaker 1: out on all these subreddits and we can talk about
- 45:48Speaker 1: it in the after show, just showing her ass. If
- 45:51Speaker 1: you ask me, I get it. Maybe you are scorned,
- 45:55Speaker 1: maybe you're unhappy with like your portrayal. I get it.
- 45:57Speaker 1: There's a lot going on, But like to be constantly
- 46:00Speaker 1: twenty four to seven up on the subreddits making these
- 46:04Speaker 1: wild accusations against all of the plasts, all of them
- 46:08Speaker 1: every single one of like wild accusations. It's just like
- 46:11Speaker 1: it's giving you need a sedative, it's giving maybe some
- 46:16Speaker 1: mental health, some therapy. It's giving, like what's wrong with you, lady, honestly.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Giving toxic like it's giving. You were a mean girl
- 46:25Speaker 2: to hear the least, really fucking toxic to everybody. And
- 46:28Speaker 2: you're being unforgiving and cold.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Yes, and you're supposed to love this person. You don't
- 46:33Speaker 1: even seem like you, like Micah.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't know what love is. I'm sorry. I'm
- 46:37Speaker 2: sorry that he broke up with you and you're bitter
- 46:39Speaker 2: about it.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I wouldn't break up with a toxic, abusive person.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Shit, dude, it's crazy. And then switching gears, we jump
- 46:46Speaker 2: on over to Isaac. Oh my god, there's a working farm.
- 46:51Speaker 2: So he's got a job on a farm and he's
- 46:54Speaker 2: getting on his big old tractor, big old tractor with
- 46:57Speaker 2: his wrangler. It's not a little tracts, a big old
- 47:00Speaker 2: track people farm hat. Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Everything, I'm just like, look at my young man growing
- 47:05Speaker 1: up to be an adult man.
- 47:06Speaker 2: He is so handsome. And then we get to meet
- 47:08Speaker 2: his absolute beautiful southern bell Kaylin, who they've only been
- 47:14Speaker 2: dating for like two months, but Isaac.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Says he's in love and can see himself with her
- 47:19Speaker 1: for years.
- 47:20Speaker 2: I love it because she brings him lunch. He's working
- 47:23Speaker 2: and he comes over to the She comes over to
- 47:25Speaker 2: the farm and brings him lunch and everything. He calls
- 47:27Speaker 2: her Pooky. He has her ride in the tractor stars.
- 47:32Speaker 2: I love them both.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I think I love it too, And it's like he's
- 47:35Speaker 1: he's sprung for her in much the same way that
- 47:38Speaker 1: Lydia is sprung for Zach. But for whatever reason, I
- 47:42Speaker 1: love Isaac with Caylin even though that's my man. Yeah,
- 47:47Speaker 1: that is my man. She's still young man. I know
- 47:48Speaker 1: who you think. You are just walking up in here
- 47:51Speaker 1: taking my man. But I love that for him. Yes,
- 47:55Speaker 1: and I think it's so so sweet.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I think they're great. I want more of them. Yes,
- 48:00Speaker 2: But then we bought back on over of course to
- 48:02Speaker 2: kro I know where we have Zach going to ask
- 48:06Speaker 2: beat boot up Barry for Lydia's hand in marriage. And
- 48:10Speaker 2: this conversation made me cringe so hard.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It was so painful. It was really painful. It was
- 48:20Speaker 1: so awkward, it was horrible. It made me think of
- 48:24Speaker 1: my husband, who actually my father's long past thirty years now.
- 48:29Speaker 1: But like, actually went somewhere with my brother and they
- 48:34Speaker 1: were driving somewhere and asked for my brother's blessing. Did
- 48:38Speaker 1: you sweet? It is so sweet? That's it is very traditional.
- 48:43Speaker 1: And my brother's like, are you kidding me? Absolutely, let's
- 48:47Speaker 1: do it right now. But I just thought I love
- 48:50Speaker 1: the tradition of that. I realized that, you know, maybe
- 48:52Speaker 1: I'm older. People are like, well, she's not property, like
- 48:54Speaker 1: you don't have to ask for permissions, and that's true. Yeah,
- 48:57Speaker 1: but I just I think there's something very quaint and
- 48:59Speaker 1: lovely about that. And so when my husband did it,
- 49:02Speaker 1: I thought, oh my god, yes, oh my god, what
- 49:05Speaker 1: do you want? What do you want?
- 49:09Speaker 2: Come on?
- 49:10Speaker 1: But when Zack did it, when Zach and his black
- 49:15Speaker 1: socks and his little baby feet, dude sits across from
- 49:19Speaker 1: yoked studded out Beeboo Bot Barry Zaddie, and he's just.
- 49:27Speaker 2: You're so mean teeth, dude, his teeth are on full display.
- 49:31Speaker 1: He's just like a after Edgar. I'm just like, somebody
- 49:39Speaker 1: helped this young man.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Well, and he's like, so fucking awkward, dude. He's so
- 49:44Speaker 2: awkward because he sits down, he sits down and Berry's like,
- 49:48Speaker 2: what's up, kiddo, And Zach's like, well, you know why
- 49:51Speaker 2: I'm here? And Berry's like, no, I don't.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Actually don't, like why are you here?
- 49:56Speaker 2: And Zach's like, are you really going to make me
- 49:58Speaker 2: ask the question? Okay, well would you let me?
- 50:01Speaker 1: Got it took a long time to get there, with
- 50:03Speaker 1: a lot of weird giggling, a lot of vacillating. Because
- 50:08Speaker 1: he's gay, he has no home training, he has no
- 50:13Speaker 1: life experience. He did not have a mother who taught
- 50:15Speaker 1: him how to be a man to a woman. He
- 50:18Speaker 1: doesn't have a dad who modeled being a man for
- 50:21Speaker 1: a man. He's just not had that. So I just
- 50:24Speaker 1: want to I just want to say I think there's
- 50:26Speaker 1: a world where he's not gay. I don't know, but
- 50:29Speaker 1: that he's just he doesn't have any experience whatsoever outside
- 50:34Speaker 1: of Jesus, I don't know. He doesn't know how to act.
- 50:38Speaker 1: But granted, this scene was so bad.
- 50:43Speaker 2: It was so bad. And so he asks Barry for
- 50:47Speaker 2: Lydia's hand in marriage, and Barry is like, absolutely, I
- 50:51Speaker 2: thought you'd never asked. And this pissed me off. Me too,
- 50:54Speaker 2: has pissed me off, so fucking bad because in Barry's
- 50:57Speaker 2: interstitial he says that I guess Lydia had two other suitors.
- 51:01Speaker 2: She had two other bachelors that were like eyeing her
- 51:06Speaker 2: or something, but she wasn't as sprung for those two
- 51:09Speaker 2: as she was for Zach. And so he's very supportive
- 51:12Speaker 2: of their relationship. And then Zach says, well, I want
- 51:16Speaker 2: to propose in two weeks, which is absolutely insane, and
- 51:21Speaker 2: Barry thinks that that's completely fine. He actually says he
- 51:24Speaker 2: totally understands the quick timeline because him and Kim did it.
- 51:28Speaker 2: And I'm just like, can you like have a little
- 51:31Speaker 2: bit of reflection and be like, hmm, I think that's
- 51:35Speaker 2: a little too soon, because you know, me and Kim
- 51:37Speaker 2: did that, and now she's a big, old, raging alcoholic
- 51:40Speaker 2: and we're divorced, and she cheated on me and our
- 51:43Speaker 2: marriage was a complete fucking failure. Like, maybe don't do that,
- 51:46Speaker 2: but no, we don't hear any of that from Mary.
- 51:49Speaker 2: He just smiles. He's super giddy.
- 51:50Speaker 1: And that's how you know this is a broken family,
- 51:53Speaker 1: because any father worth his salt would have said something like, well,
- 51:58Speaker 1: she's an adult, she can marry whoever she wants. However,
- 52:02Speaker 1: I would like to just state my reservations, Like I
- 52:05Speaker 1: think you guys should wait a year, like I always heard,
- 52:08Speaker 1: like you should wait a full four seasons to see
- 52:10Speaker 1: how your potential partner exists and reacts within four seasons
- 52:14Speaker 1: and then make a decision. So, like just any fatherly
- 52:18Speaker 1: advice for your young twenty year old gorgeous daughter, like
- 52:22Speaker 1: drop dead. So this weird teeth person is in the
- 52:26Speaker 1: den talking to Barry, and Lydia's in the kitchen like
- 52:30Speaker 1: cleaning the stove. She's trying to act casual, all right,
- 52:33Speaker 1: but she's like, got these jeans on her fucking ass
- 52:36Speaker 1: is so fucking beautiful girl, her whole body And I'm
- 52:39Speaker 1: not a lisp, beautiful, you're a lisp. But like also
- 52:42Speaker 1: just like she's growing into her face. She's like she's
- 52:45Speaker 1: just her eyes. I mean, she's a she's more than
- 52:48Speaker 1: a model. Beautiful, like so fricking gorgeous. And I'm like,
- 52:53Speaker 1: oh my god, And you're.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Gonna go with this guy because it's twittering quivering toothsome.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Weirdo from Denver talking to your dumb ass, fuck ass
- 53:07Speaker 1: dad who's not helping his daughter to make a good
- 53:10Speaker 1: life choice. Obviously, think of through send her to university.
- 53:14Speaker 1: I'll pay for your wedding if you go to college
- 53:15Speaker 1: for four years straight up. Oh, I hate everybody.
- 53:18Speaker 2: He agrees to it. Zach is reluctantly happy about it.
- 53:22Speaker 2: He goes out back into the kitchen and Liddy's like,
- 53:24Speaker 2: oh my god, how did it go? And Zach's like,
- 53:28Speaker 2: ha ha, well, can you can you tell from my
- 53:30Speaker 2: giggling that it went really well? I get to marry you, now,
- 53:34Speaker 2: I get to stick my P and your V eventually.
- 53:37Speaker 2: I'm so excited about it, and he just doesn't seem
- 53:40Speaker 2: excited about it to me. I'm sorry. I can't shake it.
- 53:43Speaker 2: I literally can't shake it. I think this dude is gay.
- 53:47Speaker 1: I just think he's weird.
- 53:48Speaker 2: I think he's gay.
- 53:49Speaker 1: I think he's following a script that was given to
- 53:52Speaker 1: him by his parents and his church. Yep, he's following
- 53:56Speaker 1: a script and he's doing what he thinks he's supposed
- 53:59Speaker 1: to do. And they have spoken in this episode here
- 54:02Speaker 1: and there about how they've gotten like witnessing responses from
- 54:05Speaker 1: the Lord. Yeah, like, well, this is serendipitous, it must
- 54:08Speaker 1: be the Lord. So he believes, on some level, some
- 54:11Speaker 1: Christian level, that this is what he's supposed to do,
- 54:15Speaker 1: and I feel sad for him. I feel sad for her.
- 54:17Speaker 1: I feel like, can nobody learn I know in this
- 54:20Speaker 1: family from like Ethan and Olivia? Can we not learn
- 54:24Speaker 1: from Kim and Barry? Well, why aren't we asking questions?
- 54:28Speaker 2: And speaking of Ethan, he comes by the house.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, people hate him on the internet. People
- 54:34Speaker 1: absolutely loathe Ethis subreddits they're like, well, on Twitter not
- 54:38Speaker 1: so much, but on the subreddits they do not like
- 54:42Speaker 1: and are calling him a homophobic ye person for saying
- 54:46Speaker 1: that he thinks he might be gay.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and we'll have to talk about it.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Sorry, I keep skipping ahead. I'm just enraged.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Ethang comes by on his motorcycle and he's back in town,
- 54:57Speaker 2: and I guess this is the first time he's been
- 54:59Speaker 2: back in k since his motorcycle trip that he took,
- 55:02Speaker 2: and he did post this on Instagram. Apparently he drove
- 55:05Speaker 2: on his motorcycle from Minnesota to Maine, from Maine down
- 55:07Speaker 2: to Florida, from Florida back to California, California back to Minnesota.
- 55:11Speaker 2: He went all across the country and he says he
- 55:14Speaker 2: feels like a new.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Maze somewhere along the way he lost all of his stress,
- 55:20Speaker 1: about which I love, Olivia.
- 55:22Speaker 2: I love that, yep. I think that's a testament to
- 55:24Speaker 2: his character. I think it's interesting that that's how he
- 55:27Speaker 2: processes stuff, like how he just has to have like
- 55:30Speaker 2: a trip, like a man trip on a motorcycle and
- 55:32Speaker 2: just go across the country. He's backled a big old
- 55:34Speaker 2: bushy beard, which I don't know how I feel. I
- 55:36Speaker 2: don't know how I feel about that.
- 55:38Speaker 1: I feel good about it.
- 55:40Speaker 3: You think it's hot, well, in like the pantheon of
- 55:44Speaker 3: Ethan's that have existed over the seasons, Like I feel
- 55:48Speaker 3: like it's probably his most masculine, sturdy testosterone.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Look, yeah, I liked it.
- 55:58Speaker 1: I mean, but like you know, he's a he's a
- 56:00Speaker 1: fundamentally broken.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Person, one hundred person.
- 56:04Speaker 1: So I thought it was interesting when he comes in
- 56:06Speaker 1: the kitchen and he gets a gander at good old Zach.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Well, and this is his first time meeting Zach and
- 56:13Speaker 2: he didn't expect to No, he did not know that
- 56:15Speaker 2: he was meeting Zach at this point in time, and
- 56:17Speaker 2: so it's super fucking awkward, and like Ethan can't hide
- 56:22Speaker 2: his emotions at all, and he doesn't know how to
- 56:24Speaker 2: like fake it in a conversation. He's just standing their
- 56:28Speaker 2: stoic judging the fuck out of Zach. Zach is just
- 56:33Speaker 2: a laughing little buffoon, yeah, because he's nervous and socially
- 56:37Speaker 2: awkward and like doesn't know how to do this, and
- 56:40Speaker 2: he's like so young, he's so naive, and so is Lydia,
- 56:44Speaker 2: and she's all giggly and like and you into.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Him Barry, who is very accommodating whatever they're like doing
- 56:50Speaker 1: and expressing, Yeah, he wants to make them feel comfortable,
- 56:53Speaker 1: but like Ethan doesn't care about that. Ethan's no, no,
- 56:56Speaker 1: what the fuck is happening with? Who are my twenty
- 56:59Speaker 1: year old sister? And are you telling me that this
- 57:01Speaker 1: is the guy that you're in love with? And so
- 57:04Speaker 1: then there's this like awkward conversation that takes place where
- 57:08Speaker 1: Ethan learns that Zach has proposed and they're going to
- 57:10Speaker 1: be getting married, and you can just kind of see
- 57:12Speaker 1: him like furtively looking at Zach and like, what's up
- 57:17Speaker 1: with this guy? And I think men know men. And
- 57:21Speaker 1: I'm sorry if you if you don't, like, if you
- 57:22Speaker 1: don't want to hear that, but I think men know
- 57:24Speaker 1: men and men can clock men more than women can
- 57:28Speaker 1: clock in a different way. Yeah what I'm saying. And
- 57:30Speaker 1: so I think, like, I think Ethan is trying to
- 57:33Speaker 1: clock this kid, and he's like, something's just not fitting here,
- 57:37Speaker 1: something's not right. I think it's interesting and maybe a
- 57:41Speaker 1: little bit weird that he defaults to this kid is gay.
- 57:44Speaker 1: I personally think that that's not a very complex, sophisticated way.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Tod of sort of look at this kid. But I mean,
- 57:52Speaker 1: we're talking about Ethan Plaths and we're talking about the Plaths,
- 57:54Speaker 1: and so he's going to say these kid is gay.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Well, and like the way that Ethan says it, because
- 58:00Speaker 2: Ethan's like, well, I don't know much about him. He
- 58:03Speaker 2: seems nice. The only thing that I'm hesitant about is
- 58:06Speaker 2: that I think he's gay, and then he giggles about it.
- 58:08Speaker 2: But I think the way that Ethan is saying it
- 58:11Speaker 2: is like from a Southern homophobic undertone. And I want
- 58:16Speaker 2: to be very clear to like distinct that I'm not
- 58:19Speaker 2: trying to be homophobic and you're not trying to be
- 58:21Speaker 2: homophobic when we're talking about Zach. I think Ethan is
- 58:25Speaker 2: coming a little bit from that. We'll see how that evolves.
- 58:28Speaker 2: The only reason why I mentioned that is just that's
- 58:31Speaker 2: just the vibe that I got, and it seemed like
- 58:33Speaker 2: he was judging Zach a little bit, like he's effeminate,
- 58:36Speaker 2: like that's why he's calling him gay.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Definitely, I definitely think he's taking Zach's measure of masculinity
- 58:44Speaker 1: and he's finding him wanting. I don't know that it
- 58:47Speaker 1: comes from homophobia, and you can come for me for that,
- 58:50Speaker 1: but I just feel like men do that shit with
- 58:54Speaker 1: other men. And I think also when you add in
- 58:56Speaker 1: the fact that he's trying to think about his sister, yeah,
- 59:00Speaker 1: I feel like he's probably looking for the red flags
- 59:03Speaker 1: that maybe she can't see. And I think it's fucking legit.
- 59:07Speaker 1: I think it's valid to wonder if this kid is gay.
- 59:09Speaker 1: I'm not saying he is gay, not saying he's gay.
- 59:11Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, if that's my brother and I'm
- 59:13Speaker 1: bringing this kid home, and I'm like, oh wait, get
- 59:15Speaker 1: at the bood, my brother's gonna be like, um wait
- 59:19Speaker 1: a minute.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Well, and that's a thing, like he's the older brother.
- 59:23Speaker 2: And so he's definitely sussing out a guy that wants
- 59:26Speaker 2: to marry his very gorgeous, very impressionable younger sister, and
- 59:32Speaker 2: he's like, this is the first time I'm meeting him, Like, okay,
- 59:36Speaker 2: kind of weird, but I just I audibly gasped when
- 59:40Speaker 2: Ethan said that he thinks that Zach was gay.
- 59:43Speaker 1: I think he's in his era of I don't give
- 59:46Speaker 1: a fuck. He does not care, because you know, Olivia
- 59:48Speaker 1: has been on her campaign calling out his homophobia, and
- 59:52Speaker 1: I think that too is valid, like, and she's been
- 59:54Speaker 1: saying a lot of things about it, But I don't
- 59:56Speaker 1: think he cares no anymore about what Olivia thinks. I
- 59:58Speaker 1: don't think he cares about what any of us thinks.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Whether it's homophobia, internalized homophobia, whether it's judgment, I don't know.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: But I think Ethan stands in a valid position to
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: be able to judge. And I've also seen online a
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: lot of people calling him a hypocrite, like, who do
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: you think you married when you were eighteen years old
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: and you got to have all of these life experiences
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: from a place of naivete and guilelessness, I can't hypocrite.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: But that's not hypocritical. That's a person who's had a
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: lived experience in a similar construct based on religion, and
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: it didn't fucking work for him.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: He also says that he also literally says that he's like,
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: this is moving on really quickly, and it didn't work
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: out for me in Olivia, so I hope that Lydia
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: will be okay.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Like he literally says, nobody has any grace for Ethan,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: and it's usually just people who are one hundred ten
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: toes down standing for Olivia and just can't see the
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: humanity in Ethan. So this is like, listen, that was
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: the end?
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Was that the end of the episode.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: No, we get to to Veronica, because then we flash
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: back over to Veronica in her house, her new house,
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: and she's saying something like she needed a breakaway from
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Micah for a second because things are a little tense
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: and she just needs to call a friend. And then
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: we see her phone and she pulls up a contact
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: named Becky.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Which I thought was funny being from the eighties and
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: nineties with Sir Mixala Yeah Becky.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And Becky turns out to be Olivia. Funny, and
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: this is like a hidden contact because Veronica doesn't want
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: the family, especially Micah and Ethan, to know that she
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: is talking to Olivia.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: So you are currently in a full fledged relationship with
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Micah h. Presumably you love him and you want him
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: as a partner, but you are on the down low
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: talking to his ops or you're talking to somebody who
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: is outright antagonistic, not just to Micah but his entire family,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: and you think that's okay. Yeah, like it's it's actually
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: not okay.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: No, it's not okay at all.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: That's not It's like if my brother was married before
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: my sister in law and I'm like, I've got her
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: on speed dial to talk about how fucked up her
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: family is or whatever. Like it's just like, that's just
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: not what you do in a relationship, which makes me question, Veronica,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: like who raised you right? And like who fucking hurt
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you that you'd be this vindictive and underhanded and fucking sneaky,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: snecky snack to do this to the person that you
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: proclaim to love.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: I think it's a generational thing, but maybe we'll talk
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: about it in the after show, because I've been seeing
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: a lot of people in the younger generations acting like
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: this and acting a fool and relationships and acting a
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: fool and their friendships and thinking that this kind of
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: behavior is somehow enlightened or progressive. It's not. It's toxic,
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: it's weird, it's shady. I don't know why you're talking
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: to Olivia and hiding it from everybody else, Like you
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: have her in your phone as Becky, probably because you're
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: texting her all the time talking shit about the plass
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: while she's also talking shit with you. It's crazy to me.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Yeah, And let me be very clear, like I and
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: you were the we are the first people to say
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: there is so much wrong in this family unit. Like
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: the parent starts with the parents and it probably goes
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: back to their parents, and like there's so much wrong.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: And when we get to Lydia's wedding and we all
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: know now because Veronica divulged it, Like there's a huge
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: fight between Isaac and Micah. There's a lot of booze
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: at the wedding. You've got these Christians, these four square Christians,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: who are drinking to the point that they're getting drunk
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: and being violent. There is so much that is wrong
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: with this family. But the two things can be true
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: at the same time. They can be completely broken and
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: despicable in a lot of ways, but at the same time, Veronica,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: you ain't shit now. I hope she's calling Olivia as
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: her elder and as maybe a voice of reason, and
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I hope that Olivia can try to speak to her
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: from a place of like, this is what I went through,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: this is what I learned, These are the choices that
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I made to kind of get myself out of the
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: situation so that I can be in a place of
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: peace right now. Like, I hope she comes at this
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: from that place which is very mature and emotionally intelligent.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: I fear she's gonna be like, oh, yeah, they're fucked.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: A fear she's going to be coming at it from
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: a place of destruction and wanting to hurt people. And
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: that's why you're not being featured anymore, Olivia, because people
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: are moving on from that bullshit and we've got new girls,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: and maybe the Plaths are going to do the same
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: thing to these new girls. I don't know, but like
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I just I hope that Olivia isn't predictable, but I
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: fear that she will be.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: She will be one. And then we get to the
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: rest of the season preview where we have the Plath brothers.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: I think Isaac is there, but I think it's just
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Micah and Ethan like meeting Zach and I think this
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: is that their like dress rehearsal or something for the
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: wedding is what it looks like, and they're meeting him
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: and they're trying to like get a feel for him.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: I think they end up asking him at some point,
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: like just the bros like what is it that you
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: feel when you think of Lydia when you see Lydia?
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: And like how like what just tell us how you feel?
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: And Zach is like, oh, confidence, poor Zach. I'm sorry,
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: but this is where like Ethan and Micah start going
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: off there like this is bullshit, that's a bullshit answer,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: probably because they're like, I don't know, you're kinda weird.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Well, but they're also pressuring him, and imagine how intimidated
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: he is.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: I guess, I guess. And then we have Zach saying
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: that Lydia really wants babies, and Lydia is like, but
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: don't you don't you want to stick your PMIV and
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Zach is crickets and doesn't say anything. I don't know
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: about that. I don't know about that. And then we
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: have Veronica and the family meeting Ethan's girlfriend who is
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: named Teagan, which we've seen photos of on Instagram, but
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: I think Ethan's deleted them.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: I don't think they're together anymore.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: I don't think so either. She also posted on Instagram
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: when one of the trailers came out of TLC, saying
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: that they spelled her name wrong and then they had
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: to like redo the trailer and redo her name. But
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: she hasn't been posting very much either.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: She did post in her story though, because what Veronica
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: says about meeting Teagan is like, we're either going to
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: get on famously or else there's going to be a
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: wormhole where we consume each other. And so Teagan made
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: a story where she had a hole and a snake
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: and she said if you know, you know, or something
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: like that. So I don't think they're going to get along,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: which is shocking. No, it's not because Veronica sucks what I.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: Thought she was so nice. Then we have Kim and
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Barry talking about their divorce, Oh my god, and Kim
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: says she's dealing with a lot of bitterness because she's
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: going into debt because apparently she's putting all these lawyer
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: fees on her credit cards.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Can we write this down? So we talk about this
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: in the after show because I'm going to forget it
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: because I'm not going to remember, but like, I have
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: to talk about this because I have feelings about this.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: It's so delicious, it's just all of it is so good.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Well, and Barry says that he feels like he's been
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: ambushed in that conversation. And then we have let's see
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Micah confronting Veronica about her calling him a spineless worm.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Well yeah today, yeah, she says, as if it's somehow
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: justified to call your partner that thea never.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Got hit in their face and it shows.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Yeah. And then we have Mariah trying to talk to
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Veronica in earnest at Lydia's wedding and Veronica sitting up
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: on her high horse saying, well, you're a bitch though
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: basically you lie to me.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: And who are you, Veronica?
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I know?
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Or are you showing yourself to be God?
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: And then we have Veronica telling Ethan that she's talking
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: to Olivia about things or whatever, and Ethan says kind
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: of menacingly a little bit, He's like, you don't fucking
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: know this bitch, Like you don't know Olivia the way
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: that I know Olivia, the way the family knows Olivia,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: you don't know her, and Veronica's like, yes, I do.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Though, throw the whole Veronica away, throw them all away.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and then we have Olivia sitting down for a
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: couch interview, which I'm just like, why why do we
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: even have to have you on this show?
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Well, because she brings necessary alternative perspective. Whatever she has
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: made some I think very interesting and I dare say
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: valid claims about how she was treated and what she
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: observed in this family. The family is obviously fucked up,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Beatriz uh huh, Like they've obviously done a lot of
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: things wrong. She was there for a lot of it. Sure,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: so she's going to bring that perspective.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: If she's coming in with a grudge, she's coming in
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: for destruction, then I feel like we're going to be
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: able to intuit that. Yeah, but like I do think Olivia,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: I personally want to hear what Olivia has.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: To say, Oh, drinking a cool I'm not drinking any
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: cool as she is part of this.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Show, she's been on for the previous sixths. Yeah, and
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: for the most part, like the show was centered around her.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I know, I feel like she's a necessary voice. I
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: feel like she's doesn't sorty voice that we need to
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: hear from. I'm sure Gonnat necessarily like it, but I
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: do invite it, sorry about it.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: We'll see what she says, that's for sure. I'll be interested.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: But this season looks girl fucking lit.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: You know they have you when you have a legitimate
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: emotional response to.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: What it is.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Oh my god, whether it's like so very happy to
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: see Isaac on the tractor, whether it's getting like full
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: of rage because Veronica is being out of pocket af
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: whatever it is like, if you're feeling something, they're doing
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: something right. And I actually wrote you, I texted you,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: and I'm like, I wonder if production has changed because
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: last season was so bad because it was focused on
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Olivia and she bores me and it was terrible. Boyfriend's
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: a bore with her.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: With his vagina ches.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Oh my god, I don't care. I don't care about
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: you care seriously, so like they're taking a different path.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: But I really liked it.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: I'm really enjoying.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Hopeful for the season.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Be a draft me too. It looks juicy.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Well, is there anything else that we should say to
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: these rec hoons before we get up on out of
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: here and into the after show, Beatrice.

- 1:10:31Speaker 1: back next week with Plath though, yeah, it'll be the
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: week after that.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: We'll double up.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Thank you for bearing with us, but until then, please
