  Saint Louis Cardinals. Thought it was a good time to

  break it all down. They always say in baseball, you

  always check the temperature. You check your team on the three

  big holidays, Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.

  And because the series has now ended against the Cubs, so we're
• 0:26
  through July 4th weekend. I thought here on this Monday, a

  good time to chat with you all. We'll talk big picture 30,000
• 0:36
  foot view macro. We'll talk small picture micro
• 0:40
  the last week because let's be real, these things are very
• 0:43
  different. First of all, let's just look at
• 0:45
  the the last week or so. Obviously, obviously a terrible
• 0:49
  last week for the Cardinals. You get swept by the Pittsburgh
• 0:53
  Pirates. You don't score a freaking run
• 0:58
  in that series. And then you go up North North
• 1:02
  Siders to Chicago, your big rival, big series weekend,
• 1:08
  right? Everybody's excited about this
• 1:10
  series. And the Cardinals just lay an
• 1:14
  absolute egg. They do.
• 1:15
  They do win a game so you don't get swept.

  But I think also it was about how you lost those games,
• 1:22
  obviously. And man, on July 4th, I don't
• 1:26
  know if I've ever seen, I don't want to say ever in recent time
• 1:31
  here. I can't remember a time where
• 1:33
  Cardinals Twitter was more fired up and pissed off than they were
• 1:38
  on July 4th at what was going down with Miles Michaels.

  And let's be real, after that game, when you see some of the
• 1:46
  history being made, look, the Cardinals and Cubs, how long
• 1:49
  have been playing baseball, right?
• 1:51
  100 and whatever it is, 3050 years.

  I don't even know. 125 years. 130 years, I'll look that up.

  It's a long time to set records like that.

  Where Miles Michaelis allows 6 bombs.

  First time that's ever happened for a Cardinals pitcher.

  Cubs hit 8 bombs in a game. First time they've ever done
• 2:13
  that. And again, we're talking about
• 2:14
  franchises that have been around for a long, long time.

  Then the Cardinals. Hey, the Cardinals, big picture,

  they are hard to kill. They don't get swept right?
• 2:24
  They win that game Saturday, they come back, it's back and
• 2:29
  forth. You got some some big moments
• 2:31
  there so they don't get swept. And then coming back on Sunday,
• 2:35
  you get embarrassed again. Eric Fetty with the quick hook.

  And this is where Cardinal fans are absolutely right.

  They were looking at this series the way that the pitching lined
• 2:47
  up and was like, I mean, how the hell are you going to win this
• 2:50
  series when you got Michaels going and you got Fetty going.

  And then also the question is, what do you do with those guys
• 2:58
  Now? Let's start with Michaels.

  By the way, I was looking at Michaels Twitter and correct me
• 3:04
  if I'm wrong, I don't think he's tweeted since 2021.

  And I think that's by design. If you're Miles Michael is the
• 3:09
  last thing you want to do in your life is go to Twitter right

  now. It's ugly and he and he knows
• 3:14
  that. I think with Miles Michaelis, by
• 3:17
  the way, and I was saying this all offseason.

  I, I never thought it made sense to DFA or whatever release
• 3:24
  trade. It wasn't going to be a trade.

  My point is I didn't think it ever made sense to just cut bait
• 3:31
  with Miles Michaelis in the offseason when a lot of folks
• 3:35
  did because you were already paying him a ton of money,
• 3:38
  whatever the number is 18 1/2, by the way, that's a horrible
• 3:42
  extension. We all know that the first
• 3:43
  Michaelis deal was great when you got him coming over from
• 3:47
  Asia. This extension is going to go
• 3:49
  down as as one of the worst, but I never, I never thought it made
• 3:53
  any sense to just cut bait with Miles Michaelis, especially in a
• 3:57
  contract year. Let's see what he can do.
• 3:59
  And look, if he's bad, you give him a few starts, you see what
• 4:03
  happens and and then you cut bait, then you DFA.
• 4:07
  And I think that's where we're at with him right now,
• 4:11
  especially after how bad he was on Friday.
• 4:15
  And so I'll say this, even though I think it makes sense to
• 4:18
  now cut ties with Miles Michaelis, I think I'll give the
• 4:22
  Cardinals credit here. I think they did about the right
• 4:25
  thing with him. Now you can if he ends up
• 4:27
  getting DFA Ed here in a little bit or whatever, you you can
• 4:31
  have an argument about should they have done it a week or so
• 4:34
  ago? When should they do it?
• 4:36
  But I I think now is the time. But I still, but I still think
• 4:40
  it made sense to let him go out there.
• 4:43
  He he was better early. I know you guys will joke with
• 4:46
  me about eating innings. Some of these young pitchers
• 4:49
  that you guys want, they're not going to be able to make 30
• 4:51
  starts in the big leagues and throw 180 plus innings in their
• 4:56
  first year. Whoever you're talking about,
• 4:58
  Michael Mcgreevy. So I actually think the
• 5:00
  Cardinals were smart to keep them this winter.
• 5:04
  But now it's probably time. The time has now come now,
• 5:06
  Fetty, I just said where I I think, I think I was right on
• 5:11
  Miles Michaelis. You guys may disagree with me.
• 5:13
  I was, I was wrong on Eric Fetty last year.
• 5:16
  I remember really liking that trade when they made those
• 5:18
  deals. They picked up Tommy Pham.
• 5:20
  I thought Fetty was a good guy for a year and a half.
• 5:24
  With where the Cardinals were last year pushing for the
• 5:27
  playoffs, obviously they didn't make it.
• 5:29
  But then Fetty's been extremely average or worse this year.
• 5:34
  And so there's the conversation where it didn't make sense to
• 5:37
  trade Fetty because he had some value in the winter and they
• 5:41
  didn't. And let's be real, now he has
• 5:44
  almost 0 value. And that's been the Cardinals
• 5:47
  problem in in recent years. I don't want to say they got too
• 5:50
  emotional with Eric Fetty, but they're too emotional decision
• 5:54
  making with some of their guys that have been around a long
• 5:56
  time. We can go back to the Matt
• 5:58
  Carpenter extension and never trading people at the right
• 6:02
  time, always allowing them to get to a point in their careers
• 6:06
  where nobody wants them, right? I mean, you could make that
• 6:09
  argument a couple years back about did it make sense to trade
• 6:12
  a a Goldschmidt? Did it make sense to trade an
• 6:15
  Arenado? Why do the Cardinals always let
• 6:18
  these guys get to a point where they're basically done and they
• 6:21
  have no trade value and they they leave via free agency like
• 6:25
  a Paul Goldschmidt does and everybody knows what's going on
• 6:28
  with no one Arenado and weren't able to move him in the
• 6:31
  offseason. But there you go.

  So. So in that terrible week we're
• 6:36
  talking about, look, still the Cardinals, what, five games
• 6:40
  over? They're a game out of the wild
• 6:42
  card. They're not going to win the
• 6:43
  division, Let's be real, Game out of the wild card.

  I doubt they're a playoff team. I don't Yeah, I don't.

  I don't think they should push for the playoffs as the as the
• 6:54
  warning alarm goes off here, you can probably you can probably
• 6:57
  hear hopefully that won't be too long.

  That's what 11:00 that goes off. So look, but also because I

  haven't done really any of these videos this year hardly at all.

  Let's let's give the Cardinals credit.

  I know you guys will jump on me for this because I also want to

  talk big picture. The Cardinals are in a better
• 7:15
  spot than what we thought than most thought they would be with
• 7:19
  this transition year that the Cardinals talked about.

  So I do think you got to give Ollie Marmol credit overall.

  And look, you think he wants to roll out Eric Fetty.

  That's why he pulled him after an inning or so yesterday.

  You think he wants to roll out Miles Michaelis?

  These are the guys that he has to roll out there.

  So big picture, I think you have to give Ollie Marmol credit.

  I mean, he's battled with this team.
• 7:44
  They've cleaned up a lot of the, you know, the defense, some of
• 7:48
  the stuff, the bad baseball that people complained about going
• 7:51
  back to mostly 2023. And I always was pretty neutral
• 7:56
  on Ali Mar Mole. I didn't like when they gave him
• 7:59
  the extension before the season couple years ago.

  But I've always thought that of the problems with the Cardinals,
• 8:07
  it was always more front office and you see what was going on
• 8:11
  down in the minors with drafting and developing.
• 8:13
  They're trying to clean that up with Hein Bloom.

  So I I'm not saying that Ali Mar Mole was never an issue.

  That's not what I'm saying. He was never the number one
• 8:20
  issue. So I think though you you should
• 8:23
  give him credit big picture for this year and also for where the
• 8:28
  Cardinals are through July 4th. But also you can make the
• 8:33
  argument they're kind of overachieving, right?

  They don't. I mean, if they were to squeak
• 8:39
  into the playoffs, they're not going to make any noise.

  Let's let's be honest about that.

  I still think it makes sense. Any of your short term assets

  like a Hellsley still makes sense.

  I think this year to move him because you're not going to do
• 8:54
  anything special in 2025. To me, it was always about 2026

  and beyond and Heimbloom taking over and then you can make

  decisions about Ollie, which I think now is probably not going

  to be a decision. I would think Ollie's going to

  stick around because again, I give him credit for this year,

  but I don't know, you're just you're in a weird spot.

  It's a weird spot to do this video again because horrible

  week, but overall a pretty good first half of the season,

  overachieving from what we thought.

  I never thought the Cardinals were going to be terrible like a

  lot of people did. I predicted before this season,

  I said 79 wins. So we'll see what happens.

  We'll see how they finish down the stretch.

  We'll see if they buy or sell or a John Mosaic term.

  Do they do a little arbitraging, which maybe makes sense to kind

  of get ready anything you can do for for 2026 and beyond?

  So those are my thoughts. I think I covered most of it.

  approval letter and all that because we hadn't bought a

  property in a while. He goes, yeah, just hit me up.

  So of course, we put an offer on on a Sunday and the sellers,

  they want to approve a letter within 24 hours.

  And again, it was my fault. I hadn't got this stuff going.

  So I have to text Matthew Tobin on a holiday weekend and he, he

  answers my text, he gets it all done, he takes care of it.

  And I hate doing that, by the way, I hate bothering people.

  But we had to do that to get this property, is what I'm

  saying. And Matthew Tobin and Triad Bank

  came through for me like they always have.

  I think it's like our sixth commercial loan we've done with

  Triad Bank. I think we have 3 right now

  including a a line of credit. So what I'm saying is it's the

  customer service relationship based banking that you'll get at

  Triad Bank. You won't get that anywhere else

  where even though I hated it, I texted him on a holiday weekend.

  He took care of it and I hate doing that.

  But that's what they do for their customers to get the job

  done. And I'll never go anywhere else

  besides Triad Bank. They have retail banking.

  I go to the Frontenac location. They have Creveco as well.

  But best thing I ever did for a rental property business was

  going to Triad Bank and switching all my commercial

  loans to a big from a big National Bank that straight up

  did not care about me. I'm telling you to a local
