- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to ACC Football Addiction. We do this often
- 0:03Speaker 1: with Jeremy, but not super often when we're playing each other.
- 0:08Speaker 1: We do have that benefit today. So we are going
- 0:10Speaker 1: to talk about FSU and Louisville. I feel like we're
- 0:14Speaker 1: really good friends. Not today, though. Big time enemies. we've
- 0:18Speaker 1: been cussing each other for 10 minutes before we started this.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's been a really rough time here on ACC football addiction.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We are presented by price picks. We're all new users
- 0:26Speaker 1: who play a $ 5 lineup and when you get 150
- 0:28Speaker 1: in lineups instantly, if they use code HMA, uh, all
- 0:31Speaker 1: jokes aside, we're, I, I did not think before the season,
- 0:36Speaker 1: this is not me talking smack. Oh, I did not
- 0:38Speaker 1: think that we would enter this game with more wins
- 0:40Speaker 1: than Louisville at this point. I, uh, I certainly didn't
- 0:44Speaker 1: think that. after Louisville beat SMU. I really thought Florida
- 0:48Speaker 1: state would be the team limping into this game, but
- 0:51Speaker 1: they're on a two game winning streak and Louisville's on
- 0:53Speaker 1: the exact opposite of that. Is it a stop? I, I,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but I got, I know, I know it sounded mean.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's not, is it a stop the bleeding type moment?
- 1:02Speaker 1: And it, I, I think, you know, it's a, it's
- 1:07Speaker 1: a weird spot for both teams to be in right now.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Maybe unexpected.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Well, for sure. I mean, I think we both thought
- 1:13Speaker 2: both of our teams would be, at a better spot
- 1:16Speaker 2: going into this game. Just not been the case. It's
- 1:22Speaker 2: hard to explain. We talked in weeks past how Louisville
- 1:27Speaker 2: and Florida State ended up being the rivals that neither
- 1:30Speaker 2: one knew that they were going to be. I mean,
- 1:32Speaker 2: 4-4 against each other since Louisville entered the ACC. I
- 1:37Speaker 2: haven't really– I believe the last time we faced you
- 1:40Speaker 2: all was in the ACC title game. What a thrilling–
- 1:44Speaker 2: A 5-3 game that was. So as one of the
- 1:48Speaker 2: teams we actually enjoyed playing every year, along with Miami,
- 1:56Speaker 2: it's good to get back to this game. Because this game,
- 1:59Speaker 2: even in the losses, there's been some good games there.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Nobody that I know will ever forget when Louisville was up,
- 2:07Speaker 2: I think it was two or three touchdowns here at home.
- 2:11Speaker 2: thought everything was going to go our way. We had
- 2:14Speaker 2: our camouflage uniforms on and those smooth helmets. And Dalvin
- 2:20Speaker 2: Cook came, you know, just did whatever he wanted to.
- 2:24Speaker 2: He had to sketch all over our rear ends the
- 2:26Speaker 2: second half. So it's a good series. I expect this
- 2:29Speaker 2: game to be a good game. So, yeah, I'm looking
- 2:34Speaker 2: forward to Friday night.
- 2:37Speaker 1: What status of Lincoln? just like how, how, how close
- 2:43Speaker 1: to a hundred percent do you feel like he is
- 2:44Speaker 1: right now?
- 2:46Speaker 2: Oh man, that is, that's hard for me to say
- 2:48Speaker 2: for multiple reasons. First off, I actually, I know.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Text me real quick while we're doing this.
- 2:55Speaker 2: So you can make sure to tell the coaches Lincoln
- 3:00Speaker 2: may be the sink, the second toughest college football player,
- 3:05Speaker 2: knowing what is wrong with him and the fact that
- 3:07Speaker 2: he is still I mean, if you watched the game
- 3:10Speaker 2: last week, heavily taped, I thought that would hinder his performance.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It really didn't. He still was able to cut and
- 3:18Speaker 2: move on it, and he used his feet along with
- 3:22Speaker 2: his arm. Costly fumble to cost, you know, one of
- 3:27Speaker 2: three costly red zone fumbles to cost us the game.
- 3:32Speaker 2: But when you're playing in wet environments, you have to
- 3:34Speaker 2: account for the fact that the ball is going to
- 3:36Speaker 2: be a little bit slippery than normal. So We didn't
- 3:39Speaker 2: do a good job with that, but as far as
- 3:41Speaker 2: Lincoln's concerned, Lincoln is a warrior. Knowing what he's going
- 3:47Speaker 2: through right now, I wouldn't put anything past him. He's
- 3:50Speaker 2: going to be ready to go, and he's going to
- 3:54Speaker 2: put on a show.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I think that when you look at Florida State, and
- 3:58Speaker 1: we're going to talk some about this on your show,
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm sure, tomorrow night, so 8.30 p.m., make sure that
- 4:03Speaker 1: folks are tuned in. I will collaborate with Jeremy's channel
- 4:07Speaker 1: so that you guys can catch that if you want
- 4:09Speaker 1: to hear the other side of this conversation. But I think,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you know, not only is Louisville a little bit different
- 4:14Speaker 1: than maybe we thought a few weeks ago or has
- 4:18Speaker 1: been playing differently for the last couple of weeks. Florida
- 4:22Speaker 1: State is too. And listen, I don't want to go
- 4:25Speaker 1: into the full Florida State side of this because it
- 4:26Speaker 1: really is the Louisville side of it. But I think
- 4:29Speaker 1: Louisville's got a little bit more of a more of
- 4:33Speaker 1: a battle on their hands that I may have thought
- 4:36Speaker 1: coming out of that Alabama game after the SMU game,
- 4:38Speaker 1: just kind of with where we were earlier in the year,
- 4:40Speaker 1: this offense looks a lot better. It's one of the
- 4:43Speaker 1: more efficient offenses in college football over the last, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 1: really all, all season. They've, they've been fairly efficient. SMU
- 4:51Speaker 1: game was kind of an anomaly, but they put 36
- 4:53Speaker 1: points up on the road and, in Tuscaloosa. They've scored
- 4:57Speaker 1: 34 and 38 the two weeks after that. They've been
- 5:01Speaker 1: good on that side of the ball. Just before we
- 5:04Speaker 1: go on, I will give some love to our new
- 5:06Speaker 1: Top 25 poll. A lot of you are like me
- 5:08Speaker 1: and you hate the AP poll, so I created a
- 5:11Speaker 1: better one. You can log in right now and for
- 5:15Speaker 1: free go create your own top 25 poll. I'm setting
- 5:18Speaker 1: up reminders. I'm working on aggregating national college football analysts
- 5:23Speaker 1: that we all know and love and respect, or maybe
- 5:25Speaker 1: even hate just to get theirs in there as well.
- 5:28Speaker 1: It's super slick. The user interface is really, really easy
- 5:32Speaker 1: to use. You log in one time with your Google
- 5:34Speaker 1: account and you are all set. I'm not going to
- 5:37Speaker 1: spam your email. I'm not trying to sell you anything.
- 5:39Speaker 1: There's no ads on here. If somebody would like to
- 5:41Speaker 1: put an ad on there, please let me know. But
- 5:43Speaker 1: it's just a place where we can go collectively as
- 5:47Speaker 1: fans vote on the poll, the top 25 in college football.
- 5:50Speaker 1: We're going to work on a college ball playoff one.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Once we get closer to November, but go check this out.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's CFA top 25.com link is in the description. I'll
- 6:00Speaker 1: pin the comment. go check it out right now. Uh,
- 6:03Speaker 1: defense is, is a concern. Now they were, they were
- 6:05Speaker 1: better against a pretty bad UVA team, but, uh, what
- 6:08Speaker 1: are your thoughts on just Louisville's defense with where they
- 6:11Speaker 1: are right now? You give up 31 points to, um,
- 6:14Speaker 1: NC state, a little bit of a surprise there. Some
- 6:17Speaker 1: of that, you know, some of that's not all on
- 6:20Speaker 1: the defense, but some of it is. So just thoughts
- 6:22Speaker 1: around where the defensive performance is with a good offense
- 6:24Speaker 1: coming in.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Well, and I want to talk about, I want to
- 6:27Speaker 2: talk about both sides of the ball, but, uh, Yeah,
- 6:31Speaker 2: it's kind of hard to stop teams when you're playing
- 6:34Speaker 2: guys eight yards off the receiver on third and two
- 6:36Speaker 2: every time. I don't understand why we were doing that.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I still think these guys are learning, so it's a
- 6:44Speaker 2: work in progress, but the problem is that you're five
- 6:47Speaker 2: games in the season. You should have already learned this.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Speaking of defenses, I think I was impressed with Florida
- 6:57Speaker 2: State's defense last week because I think that they went
- 6:59Speaker 2: from that being a major weakness to looking dominant in
- 7:03Speaker 2: one week. Taking into account, before the Virginia game, FSU
- 7:07Speaker 2: was ranked 126th nationally in total defense, 135th in passing defense.
- 7:12Speaker 2: They allowed 430 yards per game, 290 passing yards a game.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And Virginia showed up averaging more than 40 points a
- 7:19Speaker 2: game themselves and 450 yards per game. FSU held them
- 7:22Speaker 2: to 7 points. 205 total yards, 37 rushing yards, 3
- 7:28Speaker 2: for 15 on third down, 0 for 4 on fourth down,
- 7:31Speaker 2: and 10 sacks. So to me, the question is not
- 7:35Speaker 2: whether Florida State has talent. It's whether the Virginia game
- 7:37Speaker 2: represented a genuine defensive transformation or one spectacular afternoon. And
- 7:44Speaker 2: it's relevant against us because our offense is explosive, but
- 7:48Speaker 2: your earlier defensive problems were largely in pass coverage, and
- 7:52Speaker 2: your secondary has been Not been the most consistent with
- 7:55Speaker 2: Jabril being viewed as your top corner, but Louisville should
- 7:59Speaker 2: have opportunities if it can protect Lincoln. So I'm not
- 8:03Speaker 2: worried at all offensively. Defensively is where I'm worried. You
- 8:11Speaker 2: guys are 21 for 21 in red zone possessions this season,
- 8:14Speaker 2: including 17 touchdowns. That's good for first in the ACC.
- 8:18Speaker 2: So it's just, I'm more worried I'm exponentially more worried
- 8:26Speaker 2: than I was when we talked about this and joked
- 8:29Speaker 2: around at the beginning of the season or two games
- 8:30Speaker 2: in or three games in. So it is what it is.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So I'll tell you this, and not to give people
- 8:37Speaker 1: too much of what we'll talk about tomorrow night, but
- 8:39Speaker 1: I am very concerned about Saturday against UVA being an
- 8:45Speaker 1: anomaly defensively. I think the offense is good. Like, it
- 8:50Speaker 1: would surprise me. And I would have said, man, I'm
- 8:52Speaker 1: worried about the offense being good on the road. Well,
- 8:54Speaker 1: they put up 36 points in Tuscaloosa. Ashley deals through
- 8:58Speaker 1: for nearly 400 yards. I think the offense is just good.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Like I can not like Mike Marbella. I want, and
- 9:03Speaker 1: they still score points like that. You know, the defense
- 9:07Speaker 1: a week ago, a week before Virginia gave up 39
- 9:11Speaker 1: minutes and change of time of possession to central Arkansas.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Like they could not get off the field. And so I,
- 9:19Speaker 1: That defense absolutely had the performance of the season against Virginia.
- 9:25Speaker 1: There's no doubt. I'm not discrediting that. Sure. I think
- 9:29Speaker 1: Bo Pribula is a really bad passer. I think they
- 9:32Speaker 1: want to run the ball, and Florida State absolutely sold
- 9:35Speaker 1: out to stop the run. And I don't think Virginia
- 9:38Speaker 1: is incredibly dynamic in the run. I think they're a
- 9:40Speaker 1: good running team, and Florida State did some things differently
- 9:44Speaker 1: and sold out to stop that, and Pribula couldn't pass
- 9:46Speaker 1: to beat them. If Florida state tries to play that game,
- 9:50Speaker 1: like say that Florida state's entire game plan is, Hey,
- 9:52Speaker 1: we're going to take away Brown and Brown. Good luck
- 9:55Speaker 1: with Lincoln. Now, if he's hobbled, if you can get
- 9:58Speaker 1: to him a couple of times and that bangs them
- 10:00Speaker 1: up more, yeah, there's a chance that could work, but
- 10:03Speaker 1: I think that's a really wild strategy if you're Florida state.
- 10:07Speaker 1: So what are you, what is your strategy? If you're
- 10:09Speaker 1: Florida state, are you going to play off of Lincoln
- 10:11Speaker 1: a little bit or play off the wider sewers a
- 10:13Speaker 1: little bit to, to stop the run more early? Are
- 10:15Speaker 1: you going to try and guess what Louisville may do
- 10:18Speaker 1: in certain situations or with disguising certain things on defense.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I think Louisville, uh, offensively is very balanced or it
- 10:28Speaker 1: has the ability to be very balanced. And that's where if, if,
- 10:32Speaker 1: if you're Florida state, I don't think you can play
- 10:34Speaker 1: the game you played against Virginia because they were a
- 10:35Speaker 1: very one dimensional team. I think Louisville is the opposite
- 10:38Speaker 1: of that. Now, if you can make them one dimensional
- 10:41Speaker 1: with the banged up quarterback, then sure.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 1: You can maybe get some things done, but I think
- 10:45Speaker 1: you have both a running game and a passing game.
- 10:48Speaker 1: to worry about this weekend. We obviously know the way
- 10:50Speaker 1: McCoy and we know, right? Like we know the weapons
- 10:53Speaker 1: that are there ready to go on the, on the
- 10:56Speaker 1: outside and in the backfield. And I, it would surprise
- 10:59Speaker 1: me if Florida city's defense was able to hold Louisville under,
- 11:02Speaker 1: I mean, I think, I think if you held them
- 11:06Speaker 1: under 24, it'd be a really, really good performance. I
- 11:10Speaker 1: think 20, like if you, if you told me right now,
- 11:11Speaker 1: Louisville scores 21, I'd say I think Florida state wins,
- 11:15Speaker 1: but when they get up into that 28, 30, 31 range,
- 11:19Speaker 1: that's kind of where I expect them to be more so.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And I don't know if Florida state scores that many
- 11:23Speaker 1: to keep up. So that's kind of the range that
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm looking at for this game of success. 21, probably
- 11:28Speaker 1: a win 28, 31. I'm not sure.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yeah. And it's interesting because this is the first time
- 11:38Speaker 2: since Chris Redmond was at the helm that I, I
- 11:42Speaker 2: feel like we put up four touchdowns a game real easy,
- 11:47Speaker 2: whether it's by passing or rushing. Now, I don't expect
- 11:49Speaker 2: to see Kiwan play, I keep wanting to say Saturday,
- 11:54Speaker 2: Friday night. But still, defenses have held, have schemed and
- 12:00Speaker 2: double teamed Isaac all year long and be able to
- 12:03Speaker 2: keep him in check. And that just allows Lincoln to
- 12:07Speaker 2: throw wherever he wants to all over the, and when
- 12:09Speaker 2: you got spectacular, superb wide receivers like Trey Richardson and
- 12:13Speaker 2: my guy, L Mack, your guy, my guy, um, which
- 12:18Speaker 2: thank you again so much for that. We really do
- 12:20Speaker 2: appreciate it. Uh, I don't know. This is going to
- 12:24Speaker 2: come down to defense. This game is going to come
- 12:26Speaker 2: down to Louisville's defense. Um, I've been sitting here doing
- 12:31Speaker 2: show prep for today and for tomorrow. We're going to
- 12:33Speaker 2: have fun tomorrow. Uh, tonight a little bit more, today
- 12:36Speaker 2: a little bit more serious. But the one thing that
- 12:40Speaker 2: Louisville cannot afford to do, we cannot treat Daniels as
- 12:43Speaker 2: a quarterback who needs to be contained in the pocket.
- 12:46Speaker 2: You guys leaned heavily into zone read concepts last game
- 12:49Speaker 2: against Virginia, and his ability to become the extra runner
- 12:52Speaker 2: changed the game. There's also a fascinating statistical contradiction. Daniels
- 12:58Speaker 2: has been relatively inefficient as a passer, but your offense
- 13:02Speaker 2: is built around explosive plays such as ours. you guys
- 13:06Speaker 2: were generating 20-plus yard plays on 10% of your snaps,
- 13:10Speaker 2: which is good for fourth nationally. So the one place
- 13:16Speaker 2: we have struggled a lot this year is defending the run.
- 13:19Speaker 2: So it's going to be real interesting. When I say
- 13:24Speaker 2: I feel like we can score at will, as long
- 13:28Speaker 2: as you all– here's one thing. And to my NC
- 13:33Speaker 2: State fan friends, I apologize for this. But if you
- 13:37Speaker 2: all would have kept passing the football last game instead
- 13:42Speaker 2: of going to the run in the second half, I
- 13:44Speaker 2: don't know that we would have been able to come
- 13:45Speaker 2: back like we did. I don't know that we would have.
- 13:47Speaker 2: We have lost three games by a combined nine points.
- 13:50Speaker 2: The epitome of frustration. But there's a point in the
- 13:55Speaker 2: third quarter where we're starting to come back and it's Run, run, run.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I'm like, why are you all running? You all have
- 14:01Speaker 2: passed at will all game. If we don't get what's
- 14:06Speaker 2: not working, we got the penalties knocked down. We've been
- 14:09Speaker 2: working on that. That wasn't an issue in NC State.
- 14:15Speaker 2: If we haven't fixed what's been the issue this last
- 14:19Speaker 2: couple of weeks, then this is going to be another shootout.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I like... I actually like both offenses to do
- 14:28Speaker 1: really well in this game. I think it is. I
- 14:31Speaker 1: don't know about super high scoring. I think sometimes Friday
- 14:33Speaker 1: nights in conference get a little weird. Um, but I
- 14:37Speaker 1: do think this is, I do think it gets close
- 14:40Speaker 1: to that 24, 28, 31 range. And so I think
- 14:45Speaker 1: Florida state is capable of getting in the high twenties,
- 14:48Speaker 1: low thirties in this game. Certainly think Virginia has more
- 14:51Speaker 1: capability on, um, on defense but even that Virginia game
- 14:56Speaker 1: you know like you can't take away the explosives the
- 14:59Speaker 1: explosives still exist but you you know Virginia wasn't as
- 15:03Speaker 1: bad on a down-to-down basis Florida State just really hit
- 15:06Speaker 1: the explosives well in that game and that quarterback run
- 15:09Speaker 1: was big I mean you mentioned that obviously you know
- 15:11Speaker 1: he sets a record with uh five rushing touchdowns that
- 15:14Speaker 1: you know beats anything Dalvin Cook ever did or work
- 15:17Speaker 1: done or you know all these NFL guys and and
- 15:21Speaker 1: college football hall of famers and FSU hall of famers,
- 15:23Speaker 1: everybody else. So that, I mean, that is impressive. Once
- 15:27Speaker 1: you put that out on film, then it gives coordinators
- 15:30Speaker 1: a chance to, to prepare for it. Right. And he,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I don't think he's as, you know, he's not Lamar
- 15:34Speaker 1: running the ball, right? Like if he's a very effective runner,
- 15:37Speaker 1: clearly you don't rush for five touchdowns and not be,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but he's also not just so lightning fast blazing speed that,
- 15:44Speaker 1: you know, he can't be stopped. I think Virginia has
- 15:46Speaker 1: just kind of caught off guard and we hadn't utilized
- 15:48Speaker 1: the quarterback run much this year. And, We pulled it
- 15:50Speaker 1: out at the perfect time. I don't want to say
- 15:53Speaker 1: waste it, but did we maybe waste it just a tad?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Could we have gotten by a different way and then
- 15:59Speaker 1: used that this week?
- 16:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:01Speaker 1: We'll see. Maybe Mike's got another trick up his sleeve.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I'm sure both coaches will try and have something ready
- 16:07Speaker 1: for this game that is kind of a new wrinkle.
- 16:09Speaker 1: But I do, man. I think whichever defense can get
- 16:13Speaker 1: more stops. I'm not sold on the FSU defense. I'm
- 16:16Speaker 1: not sold on the Louisville defense. And so somebody has
- 16:20Speaker 1: got to show up like what, you know, they say,
- 16:21Speaker 1: bring your own guts and stuff. Like somebody will show
- 16:24Speaker 1: up in this game a little bit better than the opponent.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I don't think anybody shuts the other team down. I
- 16:28Speaker 1: think Florida state's office is too good. I think a
- 16:30Speaker 1: little of those offenses too good. I don't think it
- 16:33Speaker 1: would surprise me if either team scored less than three touchdowns.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And I think the, probably the first one to get
- 16:38Speaker 1: to four is probably in really good shape to, to
- 16:40Speaker 1: kind of have control of the game. So yeah, I
- 16:43Speaker 1: think whichever defense can come up with a stop at
- 16:46Speaker 1: some point late, is probably the one that wins this.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I lean Louisville here. I just think that on the road,
- 16:52Speaker 1: Florida State's not been good enough. Defensively, I still have
- 16:56Speaker 1: a lot of questions about FSU. They haven't won a
- 16:58Speaker 1: road game in over a thousand days. do they change
- 17:01Speaker 1: that in a hostile environment? Well, maybe less hostile. Maybe
- 17:04Speaker 1: that's a good question. Uh, but yeah, do they change
- 17:07Speaker 1: that on the road in conference? I don't know. I
- 17:09Speaker 1: I'm not buying it yet. I need to see it
- 17:10Speaker 1: before I do. Uh, fans are not happy. Is this
- 17:13Speaker 1: going to be a sellout or people are people not
- 17:15Speaker 1: showing up? Cause I've seen some threads and stuff that
- 17:18Speaker 1: maybe people aren't even going to go.
- 17:19Speaker 2: That's at the end of the day, that's just angry
- 17:23Speaker 2: fans talking. They paid their money. They'll be there. And
- 17:26Speaker 2: if they don't go, they'll give them to people that,
- 17:29Speaker 2: that will go. Uh, it, here's the problem though. And
- 17:32Speaker 2: I don't know how it is. I'm sure it's not
- 17:34Speaker 2: that I don't, I'm sure it's the same way there, uh,
- 17:37Speaker 2: in Tallahassee Friday nights when our market marquee high school
- 17:41Speaker 2: football games are played, there's going to be a lot
- 17:43Speaker 2: of people. We've never really done good attendance on Friday
- 17:47Speaker 2: night games, uh, because a majority of the people are
- 17:51Speaker 2: out supporting their kids and their neighbors, their friends and
- 17:54Speaker 2: stuff like that. Uh, Do I expect it to be
- 17:57Speaker 2: a sellout? No, I don't. Do I think there'll be
- 18:00Speaker 2: about 50,000 people there? Yeah, I do. Do I think
- 18:05Speaker 2: that 49,500 of them are going to be out in
- 18:07Speaker 2: the parking lot drunk an hour before kickoff? I do.
- 18:11Speaker 2: So I don't expect that to be an issue at all.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I think that the environment's going to be raucous. I
- 18:20Speaker 2: think the last couple of times We've got to play
- 18:26Speaker 2: you all at home. We've done really well as far
- 18:28Speaker 2: as getting people out there. Again, even with the good
- 18:33Speaker 2: games and the one we won real big and the
- 18:37Speaker 2: one we lost heartbreakingly, Louisville fans have showed up when
- 18:41Speaker 2: FSU comes to town.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I like Louisville 34-24 in this. I think they do
- 18:48Speaker 1: cross that 30 threshold. I don't think Florida State can.
- 18:51Speaker 1: We'll see. Their offense has been good. I'm probably underselling them.
- 18:54Speaker 1: just a little bit, but again, road and home issues.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I think they're going to start a little slower on
- 18:59Speaker 1: the road. I don't trust the defense. I like Louisville
- 19:03Speaker 1: by 10. What's your score in this one?
- 19:05Speaker 2: Well, good for you all. We tend to start out
- 19:07Speaker 2: slow as well. Defensively, we start off pretty tight and
- 19:11Speaker 2: then that wanes off throughout the game. Offensively, we start
- 19:15Speaker 2: out a little bit slower and that picks up throughout
- 19:17Speaker 2: the game. Second quarter is going to be the key
- 19:19Speaker 2: to this game. I want so badly to be hopeful
- 19:24Speaker 2: and positive like you are. And I swear on my life,
- 19:28Speaker 2: on our friendship, on my wife, I had no idea
- 19:32Speaker 2: what each of our teams were averaging when I picked
- 19:34Speaker 2: my score this morning. It's the exact average that both
- 19:37Speaker 2: teams are averaging. I've got Louisville 34-33. Fourth quarter field
- 19:42Speaker 2: goal seals it for the Cards. Until this defense can
- 19:44Speaker 2: prove to me that it can guard a wet paper bag. Sorry,
- 19:47Speaker 2: the secondary. That's important. to say because our linebackers and
- 19:52Speaker 2: defensive linemen have been playing their hearts out. It's a
- 19:56Speaker 2: couple of players on the secondary. We won't name names here.
- 19:59Speaker 2: We might tomorrow night, but we won't name names here.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I'm just kidding. So I've got us by one point.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Until they can prove me otherwise, 34-33.
- 20:10Speaker 1: The secondary questions are interesting to me because Florida State
- 20:15Speaker 1: does have good wide receivers. I don't know that they
- 20:18Speaker 1: have a passer that is dynamic enough to get it done.
- 20:21Speaker 1: We'll see, though. He did a great job in Tuscaloosa.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I think he's playing with a lot of confidence right now.
- 20:27Speaker 1: He also makes mistakes. Keenles makes less mistakes, and if
- 20:30Speaker 1: you're going to see a quarterback make multiple mistakes in
- 20:32Speaker 1: this game, I would think that it would be Daniels.
- 20:35Speaker 1: But that's why we play the game because you and
- 20:37Speaker 1: I are fortunately not playing.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and with our luck, it's always been like this.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's the guys that shouldn't. Well, you all came up and, golly,
- 20:48Speaker 2: I don't remember what year it was, but we were
- 20:50Speaker 2: also up pretty decently in this game, and you all
- 20:54Speaker 2: had like a second or almost like a Rudy-type quarterback
- 20:57Speaker 2: that was playing and throwing it up to like this
- 21:01Speaker 2: seven-foot tight end. Yeah. And it was like we should.
- 21:04Speaker 1: It was great.
- 21:05Speaker 2: We went into that game like, oh, man, we should
- 21:06Speaker 2: beat the pants off these guys. And we didn't. So
- 21:10Speaker 2: that's our luck. This guy that's been inefficient, he'll probably
- 21:13Speaker 2: hit his first 10 passes of the game. Do a
- 21:17Speaker 2: spin in backwards reverse, plunge a touchdown in the end
- 21:22Speaker 2: zone on the first drive. Maybe that's me being fickle.
- 21:26Speaker 2: And I will also admit, whenever I'm more hard on us,
- 21:30Speaker 2: we do better. So 34-33 is me being very, very
- 21:34Speaker 2: angry at them. Do I think in my heart that's
- 21:37Speaker 2: what it's going to be? Maybe not, but right now
- 21:40Speaker 2: in my head, I'm like, we're going to have to
- 21:43Speaker 2: fight for this. Especially when we're not playing Boston College
- 21:50Speaker 2: this Friday night. We're not playing Syracuse this Friday night.
- 21:54Speaker 2: We're playing the story tradition that is the Florida State Seminoles,
- 21:58Speaker 2: and we have to play and give that respect to
- 22:02Speaker 2: that team. It's a team that we, from the rain
- 22:06Speaker 2: game in 2002– when I believe that I was doing
- 22:09Speaker 2: some research earlier, and it wasn't very clear. I don't
- 22:12Speaker 2: know if that was your all's first overtime game ever
- 22:16Speaker 2: or if it was your first overtime game that season.
- 22:19Speaker 2: But that set the tone for me in loving. And
- 22:22Speaker 2: I know you're probably like, well, of course, you all
- 22:24Speaker 2: walked off and won that game. Of course it was.
- 22:26Speaker 2: But I have been intertwined with Florida State ever since
- 22:30Speaker 2: because I remember before that. I remember when I was playing.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I remember being a six-year-old kid. Louisville was the Prairie
- 22:37Speaker 2: View A & M of college football. You had us
- 22:40Speaker 2: when you wanted to guarantee a victory. You had us
- 22:43Speaker 2: on your schedule. There was one year we were independents.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I don't remember what year this was. I want to
- 22:49Speaker 2: say 92. We played seven top ten teams that season.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Sheesh.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Six of them were away. One was at home. And
- 22:57Speaker 2: we got blown out every game. But that just goes
- 23:00Speaker 2: to show we may not have as deep of a
- 23:03Speaker 2: tradition as you. And I think you all were one
- 23:05Speaker 2: of those teams. But that just shows how far we
- 23:09Speaker 2: have come in the last 26 to 30 years. Hopefully
- 23:13Speaker 2: we continue building on that. But, no, we're not going
- 23:15Speaker 2: to take Florida State lightly. I think that this is
- 23:18Speaker 2: going to be a really good game. And, yeah, I
- 23:21Speaker 2: think 33-32 is what my angry head is telling me
- 23:25Speaker 2: right now.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Jeremy, where can people follow you? Tell us a little
- 23:29Speaker 1: about tomorrow night, and let's get out of here.
- 23:31Speaker 2: All right. Well, you can find us at cardinalsportzone.com on

- 23:45Speaker 2: we're going live for our normal pregame show. We are
- 23:51Speaker 2: going to have Brandon Radcliffe on with us all night
- 23:54Speaker 2: tomorrow night. He does a couple shows per year with us.
- 23:57Speaker 2: One of my buddies. Little fans, you all know who
- 24:00Speaker 2: he is. Florida State fans should know who he is
- 24:03Speaker 2: because just a couple years ago, I think it was
- 24:05Speaker 2: maybe 10 years ago, uh, they said his name like
- 24:08Speaker 2: 750 times during the 62 to whatever.
- 24:11Speaker 1: That game never happened. That game got, that was a hoax.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That game got wiped out.
- 24:16Speaker 2: That's what they say about the 2013 national championship, but
- 24:19Speaker 2: that's not true. Uh, we'll have him on the whole show.
- 24:22Speaker 2: We're going to start off the show with a little
- 24:24Speaker 2: basketball tomorrow's Louisville basketball, men's basketball media day. We'll have
- 24:29Speaker 2: one of the players, uh, Walking on Will Hanke on
- 24:32Speaker 2: the show with us. He's got his own podcast. We're
- 24:34Speaker 2: going to spotlight that, talk to him, get his feel
- 24:37Speaker 2: for things. And then right around approximately 8.30, TJ's going
- 24:41Speaker 2: to join us. We're going to have some fun. We're
- 24:43Speaker 2: going to talk about our opinions on the matchup. I'm
- 24:47Speaker 2: going to ask some interesting questions to both guys. We're
- 24:49Speaker 2: going to have a good time. And yeah, get us
- 24:53Speaker 2: ready for that Friday night, for the Friday Night Lights, man.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I'm excited.

- 25:12Speaker 2: I have played so many games on your home field.
- 25:14Speaker 2: It's about time you came and played a game on mine.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Appreciate you, buddy.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Appreciate you.
