- 0:43Speaker 2: gon to be flipped a little bit, and I'll tell
- 0:45Speaker 2: you about that. So I am going to be in
- 0:52Speaker 2: the hot seat tonight. Okay, you guys. I have one
- 0:56Speaker 2: of the authors that was on my show before. After
- 0:59Speaker 2: the Kendrick Nordon is going to interview me. Okay, Now,
- 1:05Speaker 2: just like I do with my authors, I don't know
- 1:08Speaker 2: the questions, Okay. Am I nervous? Yeah, So I'm going
- 1:17Speaker 2: to bring up missus Norton. He's going to give you
- 1:19Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Tell her something. You know, everybody need to know what
- 2:58Speaker 1: to get about her.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So the point that I came up with, oh, y'all,
- 3:04Speaker 2: y'all could tell I'm nervous because I'm sitting up here playing.
- 3:06Speaker 4: With the wire.
- 3:09Speaker 2: So before we go any further, let me tell y'all
- 3:13Speaker 2: a little bit about myself. Okay. So my name is
- 3:17Speaker 2: Patrice Scrumble and I am a native here of Charleston,
- 3:20Speaker 2: South Carolina. I have been working for the public library
- 3:28Speaker 2: this past May twenty fifth has been twenty years. Twenty years, y'all.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I've only had three jobs my whole life. No, let
- 3:39Speaker 2: me change that office steeple food line DirecTV. I work
- 3:48Speaker 2: at a check cashing place for one day, but that
- 3:50Speaker 2: lady cursed me out and I was out of that joint.
- 3:53Speaker 2: So yeah, I've only had four jobs my whole entire life.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I am a beautiful mother of my wonderful kids. I
- 4:01Speaker 2: have a son named Change the third. He is my oldest,
- 4:04Speaker 2: he's king. And then I have my little dancing girl.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And what else can I say? Uh, that's a shame,
- 4:17Speaker 2: you guys. Me being interviewed is weird because now I
- 4:20Speaker 2: see how y'all feel. Okay, So I'm gonna go ahead
- 4:22Speaker 2: and let him take over and let him interview me.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Okay, A night in I'm saying that was my first quessionent,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I want to know for what? Did you just want
- 4:36Speaker 1: to briefly walk us through the process of I prepare
- 4:39Speaker 1: for the weekend we got, especially finding their new aspiring authors.
- 4:45Speaker 2: WHOA how do I find new authors? Is that what
- 4:49Speaker 2: you're asking me?
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yeah? I'm think of saying how the pre for the
- 4:55Speaker 1: week especially finding the new box that you cry.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Okay, So when I my weekly process to find a
- 5:06Speaker 2: new author, y'all is the easiest thing in America. Facebook TikTok. Really,
- 5:18Speaker 2: I have a lot of books that come in my
- 5:20Speaker 2: library system. I can read those at any time. Okay.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I prefer the authors that I find on TikTok and
- 5:29Speaker 2: Facebook because they're nine times out of ten indie authors,
- 5:33Speaker 2: or there will smaller publishing groups and for some reason,
- 5:37Speaker 2: those be the one that be hitting. Okay. I love
- 5:43Speaker 2: when an author comes into my inbox and they introduce theirself,
- 5:49Speaker 2: not just drop their book and run. I hate don't
- 5:52Speaker 2: ever do that to me. Don't drop your book and run,
- 5:56Speaker 2: because that's the first way you get blocked. Okay, if
- 6:00Speaker 2: you're wanting to introduce yourself to a reader like me
- 6:04Speaker 2: or any reader, Hey, my name is such and such,
- 6:07Speaker 2: I have a new book that's coming out, give me
- 6:09Speaker 2: a little some knoxes and give me a link. So
- 6:12Speaker 2: that's really how I find my books. Facebook TikTok.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Okay, So you got to how your shows stead of
- 6:21Speaker 1: moving on the progress and I'm fair as the nice
- 6:23Speaker 1: protect he goes through. You know, I never do that.
- 6:26Speaker 1: You stop saying there's some things I want to know.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I'm pretty share a lot of the editions while I
- 6:30Speaker 1: was aware. Can you explain that in brief? The brief
- 6:35Speaker 1: protect to get in, you know, book reviews, because I
- 6:38Speaker 1: know often that the authors come on you know a
- 6:41Speaker 1: little bit about their book, something a little bit more
- 6:43Speaker 1: than them. You know, they do the details that that
- 6:46Speaker 1: we don't know about me, Like, yeah, we get that
- 6:48Speaker 1: from so when they're book reviews, you know, coming on interview.
- 6:56Speaker 2: The book reviews is something I've been doing for years, okay,
- 7:01Speaker 2: and every time I seem to take it up, not
- 7:04Speaker 2: taking up a notch, taking up a notch. And right
- 7:06Speaker 2: now I'm really loving what I'm doing, like breaking it
- 7:09Speaker 2: down to different segments and maybe just two or three
- 7:13Speaker 2: sentences about each segment. I am with three groups personally,
- 7:23Speaker 2: se book Outs and Friends, which is what Aspiring Office magazine.
- 7:27Speaker 2: That's my first priority. Second, I'm with MBU, which is
- 7:32Speaker 2: what missus Brandy White love her. I saw how the
- 7:35Speaker 2: way she were promoting her books, and she was like, hey,
- 7:38Speaker 2: I always see you reading books. I see you. I
- 7:41Speaker 2: used to do when I would read a chapter and
- 7:46Speaker 2: it was something that stick out with me. I'll be like,
- 7:48Speaker 2: oh my god, and give a little update on the book.
- 7:51Speaker 2: But now that a lot of the services are not connecting,
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm not able to do that as much. I have
- 7:59Speaker 2: to log in do this and they an't go back out.
- 8:00Speaker 2: So sometimes that's a little bit too much. But if
- 8:03Speaker 2: it's good, you'll see me breakthrough. And the third one
- 8:09Speaker 2: is personally for work. I do reviews on my own
- 8:16Speaker 2: if I really really do like a book. I have
- 8:18Speaker 2: a notebook around here. I have like three days notebooks
- 8:25Speaker 2: composition note butch you guys, and there is one for
- 8:28Speaker 2: each group, okay, and I do put dates on them
- 8:31Speaker 2: so I can know which date and who needs to
- 8:33Speaker 2: be interviewed, I mean reviewed. People say book reviews are dead.
- 8:39Speaker 2: That is a lie. That is a pure lie. They're
- 8:44Speaker 2: now starting to be more creative. Okay, but just to
- 8:51Speaker 2: get your book review by me and about me. Now,
- 8:55Speaker 2: I do tell people that, look, I am one person,
- 8:57Speaker 2: so give me some chance to get to it. But yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 2: just in box me. I am always happy to review
- 9:06Speaker 2: a book. I just have one stipulation. I will not
- 9:12Speaker 2: review a book. I will not review a book of
- 9:16Speaker 2: a main screen author. Why they got.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Enough okay, whatever the other stamp that's why. That's why
- 9:29Speaker 1: I was trying to show my appreciation right there, because
- 9:31Speaker 1: you give us the way heard a change. I'm saying,
- 9:37Speaker 1: like you said, it was was already out there, that
- 9:38Speaker 1: it was I already out there. I'm saying they got
- 9:41Speaker 1: their chat, you know, uh hearing that. Uh still the
- 9:45Speaker 1: book that's pretty expensive, that work. I know, that's a
- 9:49Speaker 1: lot of stress. You know, it's because a lot of stresses.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Next question to be whenever a moment was like wanted
- 9:56Speaker 1: to give up thinking, you know all this wasn't working.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Has there ever been a home like that?
- 10:02Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I wish you did not ask that question on the day.
- 10:19Speaker 2: There are many times when I wanted to give up
- 10:27Speaker 2: mm hm many times and codplice people in Bok life.
- 10:43Speaker 2: That's something to me that I didn't even see myself,
- 10:48Speaker 2: you know, just today by itself. I know y'all sitting
- 10:59Speaker 2: up like this girl getting emotional. Yeah, I lost one
- 11:07Speaker 2: of my mentors ten years ago to day, and uh,
- 11:15Speaker 2: she saw something to me because y'all, when I first
- 11:17Speaker 2: started working at the library, I couldn't find a book
- 11:19Speaker 2: on the shlf. It took me three hours to do
- 11:20Speaker 2: a send out of us and uh, I didn't even
- 11:26Speaker 2: know I like books, and y'all all know the story
- 11:29Speaker 2: about the book with the word be and how she said,
- 11:33Speaker 2: go find a book just like this, and that's how
- 11:36Speaker 2: my love of urban reading started. So then plenty of
- 11:40Speaker 2: times I wanted to give back, but God placed people
- 11:43Speaker 2: in my way, and knows, I say, in my way
- 11:47Speaker 2: because I wasn't looking right, I wasn't looking there. So
- 12:01Speaker 2: I've had a lot of mentors, and I do still
- 12:04Speaker 2: have a lot of mentors, and I have a lot
- 12:05Speaker 2: of sisters and and then courage me to keep going.
- 12:10Speaker 2: But yes, there are some days, well I'm like, look,
- 12:13Speaker 2: especially when the authors getting my inbox and they start
- 12:17Speaker 2: getting mad at the interpretation that I have in the
- 12:20Speaker 2: with the book. Please do understand that everybody's gonnap the
- 12:23Speaker 2: book separately. It's not always going to have the same interpretation.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Your book may not hit everybody the same way. And
- 12:33Speaker 2: just accept it.
- 12:34Speaker 1: So yeah, exactly, well, I'll never change that one about
- 12:40Speaker 1: it that I didn't know they was gonna know right
- 12:45Speaker 1: out there, But they said, I don't believe in incidents.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I believe everything happened for reason, right, So it goes
- 12:55Speaker 1: right my next question and show out the company and
- 13:01Speaker 1: the strength of this woman. Then we just this podcasts.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So I want to know, how do you get your
- 13:08Speaker 1: company and all of your interviews and you just plays
- 13:12Speaker 1: because you can get on. You can get on stuff
- 13:14Speaker 1: that can't happen. U take a chara, can't happen with
- 13:18Speaker 1: the background or whatever, and you just pop up again.
- 13:22Speaker 1: How can do that?
- 13:23Speaker 2: I can't take no credit of that. I surely can't.
- 13:26Speaker 2: There's a lady behind this screen right here that trained
- 13:30Speaker 2: us and we when we first started us, we had
- 13:34Speaker 2: trainings where we were interview each other. She would interview
- 13:38Speaker 2: us and we're still learning to you guys. She would
- 13:42Speaker 2: interview us, We would interview each other. We would learn
- 13:44Speaker 2: about the interviewing skills we were, you know, how to
- 13:48Speaker 2: get guessed, the one hundred off the movement. She can
- 13:52Speaker 2: even tell you my first podcast, I held on breath.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I went to I think it was like what twenty
- 14:00Speaker 2: twenty minutes, fifteen twenty minutes, I held my breath and
- 14:03Speaker 2: I went through the whole podcast and living see I'm
- 14:11Speaker 2: gonna chalk you in the back of your eye. It
- 14:15Speaker 2: was it was nerve. It was nerve racking. But even
- 14:20Speaker 2: now sometimes I get on and I'm nervous. But what
- 14:23Speaker 2: I tell people is it's a simple conversation between me
- 14:27Speaker 2: and you. You're talking to your homeboy, you're talking to
- 14:31Speaker 2: your homegirl, and you're just talking about yourself and your book. Now,
- 14:36Speaker 2: there are sometimes when I send authors generic questions, I
- 14:40Speaker 2: say them same questions to everybody. I can't tell you
- 14:44Speaker 2: how many times I've used them. Never you, guys, because
- 14:49Speaker 2: before on the screen, we're literally sitting behind here having
- 14:53Speaker 2: a conversation making that connection. I'm like, all right, were
- 14:57Speaker 2: about to go live. One lady boxed me the next day.
- 15:01Speaker 2: She was like, that was so much fun. She said,
- 15:03Speaker 2: I was nervous for nothing.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It's me.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been there, so I can't take any credit
- 15:11Speaker 2: for that. That is all the training that was given
- 15:13Speaker 2: to me by Angela Thomas Smith. That's where that came from.
- 15:18Speaker 2: So let me plug in the one hundred off the movement.
- 15:22Speaker 2: The same thing you see me doing here and what
- 15:26Speaker 2: you see her doing online would you see other authors doing.
- 15:30Speaker 2: We got the training, So if you want to know
- 15:32Speaker 2: about that, hit me up.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Okay, all right, well that you know I'm off, I'm saying, uh,
- 15:44Speaker 4: you know, and there's a lot of things that we've
- 15:46Speaker 4: been through that.
- 15:47Speaker 1: That she gave you a chance, gave me play out
- 15:50Speaker 1: of the company. You know what I'm saying. Uh we
- 15:53Speaker 1: had pass with a total offer over everybody else.
- 15:57Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 15:59Speaker 1: You get y'all have a bunch of strong women out
- 16:01Speaker 1: of the interfield, y'all. Okay, And uh, I noticed that
- 16:06Speaker 1: y'all have this uh im at the collective of women
- 16:09Speaker 1: of the crew in general. So you together as a
- 16:15Speaker 1: collective as a whole, could you describe the competead and
- 16:18Speaker 1: share with all y'all pay to keep the progression.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And you know with the de violent turns now, you
- 16:27Speaker 2: know the left hand, the left hand can not always
- 16:29Speaker 2: let the right hand know what they're doing. But I
- 16:33Speaker 2: will tell y'all this. We got two new shows coming
- 16:38Speaker 2: mm hmm. And we do have another brother. We got
- 16:45Speaker 2: a man that's coming up. We do have mister Cornell,
- 16:48Speaker 2: but we need another man. We got another man in
- 16:52Speaker 2: the crew. So check our pages because you know, we
- 16:54Speaker 2: all support each other, and you'll see the two news
- 16:58Speaker 2: hosts that we have coming up. So we we can't
- 17:03Speaker 2: let everybody know what we got up our sleeves. But
- 17:07Speaker 2: there's some things coming into work. Okay, but the first
- 17:12Speaker 2: name is the two new hosts. They'll be coming out soon.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Okay with that that? Uh uh? I know that you
- 17:25Speaker 1: shows give a little time frames. You ain't gonna be
- 17:28Speaker 1: that on the point, but don't give them a little
- 17:30Speaker 1: time when you get back. Just check it out.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Well, I think I cannot remember the days of the
- 17:36Speaker 2: two new holes. Let me see if I can find
- 17:37Speaker 2: out something. I think it's on a Sunday Sundays for
- 17:44Speaker 2: the New Horse if I'm not mistaken. But you know what,
- 17:49Speaker 2: you guys check my check my page because I want
- 17:52Speaker 2: to say it's Sunday and Wednesdays. I cannot remember. So
- 18:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna come on. I'm gonna we we we have
- 18:12Speaker 2: our men's line that's gonna be coming. They're actually gonna
- 18:16Speaker 2: be starting in July. Our first show is gonna be July,
- 18:21Speaker 2: and that is Zach. His first show is gonna be
- 18:24Speaker 2: July the seventh. He's gonna be every first and third Monday.
- 18:30Speaker 2: He's only gonna be on every first and third Monday.
- 18:32Speaker 2: And the men are gonna air at seven pm, so
- 18:35Speaker 2: they're gonna be coming on before the women. We are
- 18:38Speaker 2: providing a an hour for our men to come. So
- 18:44Speaker 2: we have space. So if they're men out there that
- 18:47Speaker 2: want to host their very own show, they have an
- 18:50Speaker 2: opportunity to come and be a part of our network
- 18:54Speaker 2: and share their shows, share whatever it is they want
- 18:57Speaker 2: to share. So that's a lie. And we have another
- 19:02Speaker 2: queen that's gonna be joining our lineup, So now we're
- 19:05Speaker 2: gonna have nine queens a part of this network, Dem Divas,
- 19:11Speaker 2: and she's gonna be joining us on second and fourth Wednesday,
- 19:15Speaker 2: So y'all, our slots are filling up. We have two
- 19:19Speaker 2: more vacant slots for our women, and then we're gonna
- 19:21Speaker 2: be all booked up. But y'all can tune in and
- 19:25Speaker 2: be educated, empowered, and encouraged. We provided a safe space
- 19:30Speaker 2: for our men. Hello, Kendrick, how are you.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Right now? I'd like to tell everybody, hey, hey, doing
- 19:44Speaker 1: a great job and I command you, Thank you everybody.
- 19:51Speaker 2: So yeah, so there's any men out there, come on
- 19:54Speaker 2: join us, ladies. It'll be cool. You know what, how
- 19:57Speaker 2: about I put this put out there, y'all, it'll be
- 19:59Speaker 2: cool if we had a man who was big in sports.
- 20:05Speaker 2: So if y'all know any men out there who yelling
- 20:07Speaker 2: at the TV and then got the nerve on Monday
- 20:10Speaker 2: to give you the commentary, the commentary of everything that
- 20:12Speaker 2: happened Sunday. Is it Monday Light football? Yeah, this Monday
- 20:16Speaker 2: Night football. No, you can't take Tuesday. Tuesday is my night. Sorry,
- 20:20Speaker 2: but then you could come on another night. So fellas Sports,
- 20:24Speaker 2: come on, over, Come on over.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Yeah. I like that. They said, I have another question.
- 20:34Speaker 1: What would be one of your most rememberable moments of
- 20:37Speaker 1: one of the shows you had and why.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I miss and I love When we all were on
- 20:45Speaker 2: the show for Thanksgiving and we started talking about potato
- 20:50Speaker 2: salads and food for Thanksgiving, so it was all the
- 20:53Speaker 2: holes and we were just on there in our element,
- 20:57Speaker 2: just having fun. It remind me of this this group
- 21:04Speaker 2: that I'm starting to see that's starting to trend. It's
- 21:06Speaker 2: a bunch of females and they do these jokes and
- 21:10Speaker 2: they always that remind me of that day when we
- 21:15Speaker 2: were talking about potato salads, we were talking about yams,
- 21:18Speaker 2: we were talking about etiquette for Black thanks Thanksgiving. Yes,
- 21:22Speaker 2: it was a Thanksgiving episode that we all did together.
- 21:25Speaker 2: So that's one of my most memorable moments because we
- 21:29Speaker 2: laughed so much on that show and y'all just saw
- 21:33Speaker 2: us and you know, a bunch of friends hanging out,
- 21:36Speaker 2: a bunch of sisters together.
- 21:45Speaker 1: They describing the moment. You know, you gat I do
- 22:01Speaker 1: more question for you close, you know, because no, I
- 22:04Speaker 1: don't know what I'm doing on this day. Like I said,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I just want to show up to the truth. But
- 22:11Speaker 1: I noticed that in some of your shows you mentioned
- 22:13Speaker 1: that you having a doubt a lot of coming oconomies
- 22:16Speaker 1: and truths, and uh, that's that's one of the books
- 22:19Speaker 1: out there. You know what I'm saying that a lot
- 22:21Speaker 1: of takeing other genre, but a lot of people are
- 22:24Speaker 1: picking up on. So I want to know what inspired
- 22:27Speaker 1: you and gave me your notion that you can outo achieve.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Futship being in some anthologies, helping you with your books,
- 22:42Speaker 2: helping reading some of the stuff that I have been
- 22:50Speaker 2: seeing on Hoop Law and in Libby. Hoop of Libby
- 22:56Speaker 2: are two free programs that you can use at your
- 22:59Speaker 2: libraries to download ebooks, audio books, movies, music, all those things.
- 23:05Speaker 2: And I'm like, I can do this. I can sit
- 23:09Speaker 2: down and get my thoughts together. It's the point of
- 23:11Speaker 2: me sitting down and getting it together. And you put
- 23:16Speaker 2: me on the spot. But you know what I'll get
- 23:18Speaker 2: you later about that one. But yes, I do have
- 23:22Speaker 2: a book that me and the Kendrick are writing together,
- 23:26Speaker 2: and it's called Distant Streets. The cover has already been made.
- 23:32Speaker 2: If you get Born from the Streets, you'll see that cover.
- 23:35Speaker 2: In Born from the Streets, you'll see the cover of
- 23:40Speaker 2: Distant Treats. So yes, just by me seeing other works,
- 23:46Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that I have enough confidence in myself
- 23:49Speaker 2: to be able to write. And you guys enjoy it.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Well, I know you can do it. To work about
- 23:59Speaker 1: it problem, I'm looking for a real for sure. My
- 24:05Speaker 1: last question will be what can you tell your own
- 24:10Speaker 1: interview and your upcome and do odent you know? In
- 24:15Speaker 1: addition I mean their future. Uh, what can you tell
- 24:21Speaker 1: them to make them continue the.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Dreams, don't stop, make it a priority. And me telling
- 24:32Speaker 2: you guys this is really telling my own self this
- 24:36Speaker 2: set your goals, set your timelines. If you miss a goal,
- 24:43Speaker 2: go back and do it. So I'm gonna be totally
- 24:47Speaker 2: up with y'all. Starting next week, I'm getting back on
