- 0:02podcast. Woo, wow, wow, wow.
- 0:04Wow, Oh my God. I'm too excited for the season
- 0:09to start to even consider imitating you.
- 0:13So you decided to make everybody's ear drums bleed
- 0:16instead? Yeah, literally.
- 0:17I decided to achieve an octave that only Demon Hunters Golden
- 0:24has yet achieved in life. I actually think that song is a
- 0:28true, true banger. I completely missed the
- 0:32reference, so it's fine. What?
- 0:34I'm just here for hockey, if I'm being real.
- 0:36Ally know it cuz Michael recommended it to me.
- 0:39It's a great tune. It's a great tune.
- 0:42All right, back to business, welcoming everyone to Bangor
- 0:45Management, The Fantasy Hockey Podcast with your favorite host
- 0:48Jake, Josh and Kevin, who is excited for the season.
- 0:52Woohoo. Gosh.
- 0:56I was counting down the days and then I drafted and day one
- 0:58happened and now I'm ready for next season.
- 1:03I'm excited. I love my team, I mean.
- 1:05We react or anything. Yeah, dog overreacts to every
- 1:08single piece of news. Like any line.
- 1:11Rushes in practice are a detriment to his mental health.
- 1:14100% one of my guys jumped off P1.
- 1:17I literally feel like I've been shot through the heart.
- 1:20And who's to blame? When I saw your text earlier
- 1:24saying this is the fastest you've given up on a season.
- 1:28We badly one day of the season and Josh is like it's over, my
- 1:33life is over. I had such a bad day yesterday.
- 1:36It's like, anyway, it's all got into it.
- 1:39Yeah, yeah. But on the topic of our teams,
- 1:43today we are going to be doing our draft recap, post draft
- 1:48discussion for this coming fantasy season.
- 1:52Very fun. We're going to dissect each
- 1:54other's teams, talk about our own a little bit.
- 1:56Before we begin, please follow us on Spotify Podcast wherever
- 2:00you get your podcasts. All the socials are in the link
- 2:02tree in the podcast description and we are new to both Discord
- 2:06and TikTok. Definitely join the Discord
- 2:09community, a lot of valuable discussion going on there.
- 2:12Started before season with drafts, but we're going all the
- 2:15way through for this whole season, so looking forward to
- 2:18seeing you guys in the Discord. So let us begin with the 1st 4
- 2:25picks that we made on each of our teams, which is obviously
- 2:27how we decided to build the foundation.
- 2:30Yeah, so we'll start. We'll just to list our first
- 2:32four. I figured we're not going to
- 2:33list our entire team. So that's just a lot of names
- 2:35that are out there, but this is kind of the identity of our
- 2:37team. So I'll start.
- 2:39I had the 9th overall pick out of 14 teams.
- 2:42I started with JT Miller. Second round I went Sidney
- 2:45Crosby, third round I went Most Cider and fourth round I went
- 2:48Tage Thompson. I think definitely important to
- 2:51give context for, you know, our league specifically, like this
- 2:54is our league of record. So if you haven't listened
- 2:57before, and this is maybe the potentially the first episode
- 2:58you're listening to, it's a huge league, 14 teams, 20 rounds deep
- 3:03and we have 15 categories that are in play on a weekly basis.
- 3:08So it's goals, assists, points payments, power play, points,
- 3:11shorthanded points, shots on goal, faceoff wins, hits,
- 3:14blocks, and then the goalies hits, wins, goals against,
- 3:17average saves, save percentage, shutouts.
- 3:19So now with that out of the way, if you see some pics like wow,
- 3:23JT Miller in the first round, he's a winner eligible, gets
- 3:26face off, wins and hits it. It's very valuable for league
- 3:31like hours and also potentially contributing short handed
- 3:33points. So yeah, I mean, Josh, listen,
- 3:36just you start just to say it. Go, go, go ahead, Go ahead.
- 3:40No, I was going to say like some guy like like you know how at
- 3:43the end of the year the the rankings are league specific.
- 3:46So in our league, JT Miller opens another like ranked in the
- 3:48top five. Not last year.
- 3:49But yeah, like top. 10 for that, yeah.
- 3:52So picking him there makes a lot of sense, even though it's less
- 3:54mainstream. Yeah, I mean at #1 my top, I
- 3:59listed my top five choices depending on if anyone dropped
- 4:02my top three choices all got taken unsurprisingly.
- 4:05And so my big choice was between JT and Kaprizov.
- 4:08And I normally would go with a Presov type player to to start
- 4:13my draft because I love like the points upside and the shots.
- 4:16Miller is just usually ranked higher than Kaprizov in our
- 4:18league at the end of the year because of his back cats.
- 4:21And we all kind of believed in the Rangers bounce back despite
- 4:24their terrible start to the season last night.
- 4:28Yeah, it's been one game. It's fine on the plate she
- 4:30loves. But yeah, they play video for
- 4:31sure. So, yeah.
- 4:33So that's why I kind of honestly, the main reason I want
- 4:36JT over Kaprizov is the playoff schedule.
- 4:38That was what if it was the opposite playoff schedule would
- 4:40have the opposite way. But Eller has a 444 in our in
- 4:43our tweets. 2123 has a 333. I just feel like that three
- 4:46extra games could be huge. And we'll see.
- 4:49We'll see what happens. But that's kind of the story of
- 4:51my first pick there. I mean, I love the JT pick.
- 4:54First of all, the playoff schedule.
- 4:56Second of all, like if you go into, you know, Yahoo positional
- 4:59rankings, like there's very few, you know, valuable forwards that
- 5:04are winger eligible that get face off wins if you get one of
- 5:07them, like you can truly be an elite face off win team in in
- 5:09this specific league. And JT is probably arguably the
- 5:12top of that list. Like it's him.
- 5:14It's like Elias Pettersson and a few other guys.
- 5:17So getting JT who also hits face off wins from the right wing
- 5:20position elite playoff schedule. Like it felt like a no brainer
- 5:23pick. You've also got sniped on my car
- 5:25just to put that out there. Like that's the guy you wanted
- 5:27right before. That's why I really wanted he
- 5:29got taken the pic before me and then the my next choice.
- 5:32I also wanted pasta. He got taken the pic before that
- 5:34and I also wanted Brady and he got taken the pic before that.
- 5:36So my my top three all got taken the three picks before me.
- 5:39But none of that is surprising, right?
- 5:40Those would all have been big steals if I could have got.
- 5:43Them but then Crosby and your second round I feel like just
- 5:46matches up perfectly with JT where you get 2 elite faceoff
- 5:48winning guys and start your draft and then cider and Tage
- 5:51like cider is one of the. Best Insider, where my number
- 5:54one choice is at round two and three.
- 5:56I was super excited both of them and people are actually Page was
- 5:58my number five choice at round 3.
- 6:00So to get him at not round four I felt was a bit of a steal.
- 6:03So so I'm very happy with my 2-3 four and my one.
- 6:06Honestly, I was happy with it until last night, but also have
- 6:08to remember that he was injured through training camp.
- 6:09He missed that. He missed the whole training
- 6:11camps off and they have slower starts.
- 6:13So yeah, anyways, I think it's an interesting start to the
- 6:16draft for sure. Definitely not where I think I
- 6:18messed up. I think this is a good for.
- 6:20I like it a lot too, the JT and Cider combo there.
- 6:25Of course I do like Crosby and Tage, but for our league
- 6:27specifically, those two have proved to be super valuable all
- 6:31the time. Don't be discouraged by the
- 6:33first day. It's gonna be fine.
- 6:37And that goes for all the listeners too.
- 6:39I know you're you're all hyped up for Week 1 and then it
- 6:43happens and then it's a huge dud.
- 6:45You have 0 points between your first two round picks playing
- 6:49each other. Crosby didn't get a point right.
- 6:51He did not. You know who did get 2 points
- 6:55though? Brazo.
- 6:58You mean the Goat? Two goals, six shots, four hits.
- 7:01Monster stat line, but yeah, listen.
- 7:03Plain Line 2 with Afghani Malkin breakout season upon us.
- 7:09Alright, let's. Move on.
- 7:10Excellent foundation, though. Yeah, All I wanna say is that
- 7:12what's cool about this is you can do a lot with it, and it
- 7:17really you're not restricted in any way.
- 7:19You can do many things even though you're used to be a good
- 7:21faceoff team, even if you end up punting that by, I don't know,
- 7:23trading me, Crosby. We'll see where things go.
- 7:27Moving on to my first four picks, I went, I had the third
- 7:32overall pick, it went McKinnon. No, McDavid.
- 7:35McKinnon. Yeah, yeah, McDavid, McKinnon.
- 7:38And then I took dry saddle. Second round I went Philip
- 7:41Forsberg. Third I went Macklin Celebrity
- 7:43and 4th I went Seth Jarvis. So here's where I am very happy
- 7:49and here's where I'm less happy. I really, really think it would
- 7:55have been cool to have gone trocheck instead of celebrity.
- 7:59He will be spoken about shortly, but just because of you know,
- 8:03but I I figured my thought process there was, you know,
- 8:06celebrating could get 30 more points than project this year.
- 8:09I wouldn't be shocked. The upside is crazy.
- 8:11The shots we've yeah, exactly. The shots are gonna be amazing.
- 8:15And he's going into his second year where, you know, sophomore
- 8:18slump is a thing. But guys, also the limit.
- 8:20Forsberg is just a stud for our league settings.
- 8:23Dry sidle, I thought was the obvious choice of three, yet I
- 8:26ended up not being a strong faceoff team.
- 8:28So in hindsight, maybe could have been the pick.
- 8:32It could have worked out better for my team.
- 8:34Nonetheless, I'm not, I'm not mad about it.
- 8:36I think I've got a pretty good situation with him.
- 8:38And yeah, just to Jarvis is an interesting one.
- 8:41I wasn't really thinking of it. It was kind of a panic pick.
- 8:44I love that pic. So yeah, it's it could turn out
- 8:47pretty well. I was hoping he'd get a decent
- 8:52look at centre and he's one of the guys immune to the rod curse
- 8:55on that squad. So if he does stay on power play
- 8:591 all year, which should be a given, but you never know.
- 9:02And if he doesn't know about the as the face off guy on line 2,
- 9:07there's a lot of good stuff that could potentially happen.
- 9:10I think looking at this for I don't have as concrete of an
- 9:13identity, I would say I'm super good points to game.
- 9:17Am I a great bangers team? I kinda ended up consolidating
- 9:20into a good shots and hits team. However, I'm not mad about these
- 9:25first four either. I think early in the draft you
- 9:28honestly, you just wanna you wanna set the foundation for
- 9:31your roster, but that's mostly just going best player
- 9:34available. And I think, yeah, you made a
- 9:35lot of good choices when you were on the clock.
- 9:38And also just having, you know, you just said you didn't end up
- 9:41as a great faceoff wins team. But when you have dry side
- 9:44getting, you know, 10 plus face off wins from the left wing
- 9:47position, like that's always in the cards for you.
- 9:48If you decide to be like you can just, you know, end up going
- 9:52harder on that. Having that flexibility is just
- 9:55very nice. Forsberg it was.
- 9:59I was not surprised when you made the Forsberg pick, but
- 10:02honestly I thought you might go Sabrina in the second and then
- 10:06try to get like a nature in the third.
- 10:08Yeah, yeah, yeah. Martin H Stream.
- 10:12Yeah. It's crazy because he's gonna be
- 10:15proven right this year and he's not even gonna get to benefit.
- 10:17Yeah. Luckily I have like a pretty
- 10:20serious points league I'm in where I grabbed him there.
- 10:22I just I couldn't not happen and I reached on him.
- 10:24I was like there's no way I'm going another trap without him,
- 10:27but he's gonna be so good. And in hindsight that would have
- 10:31been great. The reason I did pick, I didn't
- 10:34go celebrity Round 2 is just that's a simple know your league
- 10:36mates and I knew those two guys were not going to like there
- 10:40were 4 picks in between. He wasn't gonna get chosen
- 10:43there. Yeah, yeah, I like I love this
- 10:45top four. Obviously dry settle nothing to
- 10:47be said there. Like you said, maybe coach would
- 10:49be better for your team, but no one will ever fault you for
- 10:51digging dry idol and I think he's awesome.
- 10:54So no questions there. Especially at #3 is easy pick.
- 10:56Forsberg. I love my only thing with him
- 10:58was the two games in the play in the finals.
- 11:01But like so, so far forward thinking like I feel like it's
- 11:04better to just take the best player available and then figure
- 11:07it out along the way. So he's such an elite player and
- 11:10you kind of think that last year this floor right and so and that
- 11:14was already a really good overall season for him.
- 11:16So so I love that pic. I definitely I would take
- 11:19celebrity over trocheck. I don't know.
- 11:22I don't know how you feel, Kevin, but I.
- 11:24Didn't have the option. I know, but I know Jake, you
- 11:27were saying that you weren't sure if you made the right
- 11:29choice there. Obviously not that based on how
- 11:32my draft went, I'm not looking of making the right choice, but
- 11:35I definitely prefer Sabrina Trocheck.
- 11:37I love that. And Jarvis.
- 11:38I think when Kevin mentioned the cat, he mentioned the
- 11:41shorthanded points. Jarvis is probably top three,
- 11:45top four in the league. I'm thinking Hagel and connect
- 11:47any and and Jarvis are like top three Shorty guys off the top of
- 11:50my head. So I love the drivers pick.
- 11:52He's just a Jack of all trades guy.
- 11:53So I think that's a great top 4. He's a set of all trades.
- 12:00But yeah, I hear, I hear you. Alright, awesome.
- 12:04I I gotta say, I'm excited for Kevin to talk about his four.
- 12:09Alright, so my 4, I had picked number six in this 14 team draft
- 12:15and at six overall, I took Brady Kuchuk, who I have never owned
- 12:21in fantasy. So jealous.
- 12:23It was so close between him and Makar because I thought I was
- 12:27gonna have to decide between Brady and Matthews and Matthews
- 12:30went one pick before me at 5:00. So then I had Brady and Makar
- 12:33and I decided to just go Brady because I thought, you know,
- 12:36listen, it's it's fun. He has a lot of upside and I
- 12:41think it was the right just you think was the right choice.
- 12:44I think Brady could have gone top 4.
- 12:46Yeah, it definitely makes sense because Arley has pimps, don't
- 12:49forget. And the fact that makes Brady
- 12:50even more overpowered because of how?
- 12:52He was #1 on my first round picks, Obviously like I said,
- 12:58they would have to be drops. But I honestly think that if you
- 13:00hadn't taken him, there's a chance he was going to drop to
- 13:029. Don't know what, who knows what
- 13:04would have happened, but like, yeah, I know this is 100% the
- 13:06right pick. Getting him at six in our in a
- 13:08league like ours is an absolute steal.
- 13:10And then second, I went Artemi Panarin, who is not a Kevin pick
- 13:14at all. Like I have previously been a
- 13:16Panarin hater. I am now converted.
- 13:19I'm not, I would say I'm not as big as fan, but I see the value
- 13:23now. And third round when Vincent
- 13:25Trocheck right after Jakey sniped me on Celebrity Who, I
- 13:28was hoping it would fall. And then fourth round I got Jake
- 13:31Sanderson, who I guess that might sound like a reach for a
- 13:34lot of people, but honestly, I'm just so high on Sanderson.
- 13:37If you've listened to our previous episodes, our signature
- 13:40picks or ice and fire like goals and throws episodes if you
- 13:43haven't already. And we've talked so highly about
- 13:46Jake Sanderson and the potential of this season.
- 13:48And there was also run on defenseman in the top 4 rounds
- 13:50too. Like it's 14 teams deep, right?
- 13:51So a lot of guys want to cement their defensive position.
- 13:55So I didn't feel bad about taking him there at all.
- 13:56I was super happy, he felt to me.
- 13:58Sanderson was definitely the best indie available at that
- 14:01point in the draft. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:02So it was a no. Brain Hudson went one pick after
- 14:05Yeah. Which is probably that the
- 14:07person was probably hoping Sanderson was going to be
- 14:10available for them and then had to take it because the the
- 14:13teardrop are just massive at that point.
- 14:15Yeah, there. I mean afterwards was Yoshi and
- 14:18then Morrissey, but I I think that the distinction is.
- 14:21Is it's a. It's a theoretical.
- 14:22Grounds for that, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 14:25It's a great top four. I think that both of your first
- 14:29round picks are my favorite first round picks and just
- 14:33because of the way that they're super.
- 14:35Useful. Yeah, but but I I, I it's it's
- 14:39kind of one of those things like I've never I'm not gonna reach
- 14:41on GTA or Brady Chuck over dry side all.
- 14:44But I would have been happiest in the position this year that
- 14:47you guys were to get. Those guys, the position I
- 14:50wanted was exactly where Kevin was.
- 14:52That was it was telling everyone I'm like, I wanna get 6 so I can
- 14:55get Brady. That's.
- 14:56Gonna be 7 or 8 would have been better because I don't think
- 14:59Brady goes 6. If maybe another manager is
- 15:01there potentially, but I don't wanna take that risk.
- 15:03I was happy I got. It yeah, but truth is if you get
- 15:05Panera and it could be like he has scored 115 points in.
- 15:09His 122 years ago. Yeah, if you that, that's Cooch.
- 15:12Basically you're getting cooch -.7 shots, I would say.
- 15:17Yeah, in round two, you're fine. There.
- 15:22There is. You ended up in a really good
- 15:24spot. So that's it.
- 15:25Like what we can get out of this or what you guys can get out of
- 15:29this with your first round picks is awesome.
- 15:31And then going down the list, I mean Trocheck to me is such a
- 15:35steal at #3 so that. That's Would you have taken him
- 15:39over celebrity if we did the draft again?
- 15:41No, but but I can easily, easily say in a month from now it if he
- 15:48stays on power play one, which we're gonna kind of dive into a
- 15:50little bit more soon. But if he does stay on Power
- 15:53Play 1, Trocheck becomes like a monster.
- 15:55I mean, I drafted him there with the expectation that it's gonna
- 15:58be power play too, because that's what he's been for the
- 16:00last few years. But he's just, at least for our
- 16:03league specifically because he gets, yeah, he gets over two
- 16:06shots, over two hits, over 10 faceoff wins.
- 16:09And he also is last year, pretty sure you led the league in
- 16:13shorthanded points, which is a really, I would say unique
- 16:16category for our league because you don't get a lot of volume.
- 16:19So whenever you get one in a week, it's like it can really
- 16:22sway your matchup. So the delete at that too is
- 16:27just nuts. Yeah, and also it's a note that
- 16:31Kevin took his four top 4 picks. He only took players from two
- 16:33teams, which are the Rangers in the Senators.
- 16:35And the Rangers happen to have the best playoff schedule and
- 16:38the Senate coincidence have like the second, the second tier of
- 16:41like they have 11 games, like 3-4, something like that.
- 16:44So 44344. Yeah.
- 16:46So it's no surprise that I'm sure there were a couple of
- 16:48spots where Kevin was choosing between these guys and one other
- 16:51guy and then that kind of flipped the tip the scales in
- 16:53the favor. So that's why it makes a lot of
- 16:55sense. I mean, mine too.
- 16:56My first two picks are both 12 game guys.
- 16:58So, yeah, I know this is a super sick Sanderson.
- 17:01I really, really wanted that was I was targeting Round 5 so I was
- 17:04never going to get him Round 4. We all wanted Sanderson.
- 17:07I think I was really listening to some of our previous
- 17:09episodes, just like while I'm working out, because what else
- 17:12am I going to listen to? And going to workout besides
- 17:14bigger management, the fantasy hockey podcast and we were all
- 17:17talking about Jake Sanderson and how much we want and we were all
- 17:20being like, I guess we'll see you again.
- 17:21So like. Yeah, but I knew that.
- 17:25Well, I mean, at the end of the day, like, I don't think it's a
- 17:27crazy reach or anything like that.
- 17:28No, no, I was targeting him around 5:00, which is literally
- 17:30just around later. So it's just about who was kind
- 17:33of fell in the draft of the right spot.
- 17:34And just so happens, around 4, you were decently late in the
- 17:37round, so it made sense for you. I was early Round 4, so I wasn't
- 17:40gonna. I wasn't gonna.
- 17:41That was better value. Yeah, exactly.
- 17:42Like I wouldn't take Sanderson over to age, but but yeah, no, I
- 17:46think this is a super sick top four.
- 17:48And yeah, should we dive into our favorite players on each
- 17:51person's team? Alright, so I'll start with my
- 17:56team, Josh's team. So I'll start.
- 17:58My favorite player on my team is Mo Slider.
- 18:02I Dixon's brother, as we've mentioned in the past.
- 18:08Yeah. So I literally like round 3.
- 18:12I had like in highlights on my draft, but I'm like round 3
- 18:15Slider, you gotta be able to get him.
- 18:16And I knew that there was a chance that Kevin was gonna go
- 18:21cider around 3. He because we talked about it.
- 18:24We had talked about it and Kevin was like, oh, you know, like how
- 18:27defenseman I project going. Like all the good ones are gonna
- 18:29be on the main. Good ones are gonna be gone by
- 18:31round two. Round three, like maybe I have
- 18:32to go Slider. And I was like, I really hope
- 18:34you don't because it's my #1 because I was super, super
- 18:37excited when he fell to me. He's power play one on last year
- 18:40Detroit I think was the 4th ranked power play in the league,
- 18:43which obviously like there's room for aggression because
- 18:45that's super high and they're not that great of a team, but
- 18:48still. And just his bangers are just
- 18:49unreal. And he's still a young player
- 18:51who, as we've mentioned in the past, you know, he hasn't hit
- 18:53his points Platt the ceiling that any of us think So.
- 18:57So yeah, I was very, very excited that he came to me and
- 18:59the third. He's never missed a game.
- 19:02Yeah, that's it. And that's like a decent enough
- 19:04sample size. It's three full years of never
- 19:07missing a game. Not to mention the fact no 444
- 19:11years never missing. Now that's a sample size.
- 19:16Bonkers is like it's incredible and how Kevin feels about
- 19:21Trocheck being a question mark for power play 1 and still being
- 19:25happy having taken him there. I feel the same way.
- 19:27Sadder for you. I feel like that's one of those
- 19:30things that if Sider stays on power play 1 all year, he's
- 19:32ranked top 10. By the end of the year he could
- 19:35get 65 if he does get over 60 points was spoken about in
- 19:38previous episodes. He's an absolute stud for what
- 19:41he covers shots, hits blocks, is amazing, is Pimms are decent
- 19:45too, actually. And you know, one thing that we
- 19:48don't really, I think him and Sanderson are both kind of
- 19:52Bangor management specials, if you will.
- 19:54Yeah, Not many people outside of the podcast are necessarily high
- 19:57on them, but they will return and they're gonna be amazing on
- 20:00value. So he actually was my choice for
- 20:03your team too. But you beat me to it.
- 20:04So when I get into he's number one.
- 20:08But yeah, I really, really wanted him around 4 actually.
- 20:12I should have known I wasn't gonna get him.
- 20:13He was easily who I was gonna go with.
- 20:15I wasn't gonna pick him over celebrity, but.
- 20:17I'm very. I'm honestly just happy for.
- 20:20You. Yeah, I I also love cider.
- 20:26I mean, definitely worth mentioning now, Josh, do you do
- 20:28you feel any different about the pig?
- 20:29Like knowing now that Axel sending Palika is remaining with
- 20:34the Detroit Red Wings, I feel it's just worth mentioning now
- 20:36that. For sure.
- 20:38I mean. He's made the roster.
- 20:40I don't like taking in my first five rounds a guy who's even a
- 20:44question for power play one. I want him to be a lock, you
- 20:46know. So, I mean, I mean, I'd heard of
- 20:47the guy, but I thought this guy. Wasn't nobody expected?
- 20:50At this point, yeah. And now everyone's talking.
- 20:52He made the roster and he's a power play specialist.
- 20:54Logic shows that he should get power play 1.
- 20:56And like everyone's comparing it to Lane Hudson last year.
- 20:58I don't think it's the same situation.
- 20:59I think Lane Hudson was such an obvious going to power play one
- 21:02with like Matheson not being that guy.
- 21:04But I mean, maybe that's the same.
- 21:05Maybe they just decide that side is not that offensive guy.
- 21:08I don't know. I think he was if if.
- 21:10That was their 17th overall pick in 2023.
- 21:13So he's a he's a mid first round pick 2023.
- 21:15He's 20 years old and he last year signed a three-year entry
- 21:19entry level. Project Look, I'll say if there
- 21:21was that question of power play one, there's a chance I might
- 21:24have gone someone else over Cider in the third because I
- 21:26really hate having those question marks with such early
- 21:29picks. But The thing is, it's kind of
- 21:30like you said also where at the end of day, even if he's not
- 21:33play one, he's going to be an extreme value to the team, my
- 21:35team. But but it sucks.
- 21:37No, it definitely sucks. I don't want to power play one
- 21:39question mark as my number one be on my team.
- 21:42I don't wanna get ahead of ourselves, obviously.
- 21:43I think it's worth mentioning because everybody is kind of
- 21:45going crazy right now that he made the roster and he's
- 21:47supposed to be a power play specialist.
- 21:49Like I'm going to be honest, I don't know much about him
- 21:51besides the fact that like that's supposed to be his role
- 21:53and he's young and first round draft pick.
- 21:55That's pretty much it. He's going to be starting on P2
- 21:58and then we'll see what happens. But I feel like he'll need to be
- 22:00like elite to overtake sided because they also just want
- 22:03Cider to be elite and. Also, there's the fact that
- 22:06Detroit was ranked #4 powerfully last year, right?
- 22:08Why would you mess with that? But like that's it.
- 22:10So if if they start off strong, I don't see how spider loses it.
- 22:14If they struggle a lot, then I could see it.
- 22:16So here's the hope. And they're not struggling to
- 22:18start the season. Yeah.
- 22:19Yeah, there's something about him being an already, though.
- 22:21I wouldn't worry. Hudson was a bit of an exception
- 22:25because I'd say the parallel here is actually more with Guli.
- 22:29Guli they drafted to be like a solid defensive defenseman.
- 22:32But Spider, to me, is easily going to get the top crack, and
- 22:36I think he's gonna deliver. Yeah, like who's your favorite
- 22:40pick on Josh's team? So Sider.
- 22:43But my second favorite pick on his team is Alexi Lafreniere.
- 22:48This is fun cuz it's super hit or miss, but where you got him
- 22:52was the 14th round and 188 of thinking, Yeah.
- 22:57And you know, if you actually look at the way our 14th round
- 22:59ended up, there were some decently potential studs who
- 23:03went there. But he was my favorite pick for
- 23:06sure. Maybe Luke Hughes and ice.
- 23:12Let's not get into that right now.
- 23:13Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, I can't.
- 23:15We can't do this. But, you know, like take a lion,
- 23:19a mulkin, whatever. Will Smith.
- 23:23In the 14th round of our Dora. Fav also but I'd still take.
- 23:25Lots Will Smith. With Laugh, he was supposed to
- 23:29be such an elite player and then he had Laviolette as a coach, so
- 23:32we never really blossomed into what he could have been.
- 23:34With Critter, leaving is a huge opportunity for him and Cooley
- 23:38to both succeed, you know, and Sullivan's also been really good
- 23:43at getting the most out of young players.
- 23:44You know, Gensel and Rust were both up and coming when they
- 23:47were on Pittsburgh and look how they turned out.
- 23:49Obviously it's iffy situation as to whether or not he's gonna be
- 23:54on power play one, but the opportunity costs there, it's
- 23:56really not such a big deal like. 14 rounds.
- 23:59It takes three big. Yeah, I would have taken them
- 24:02over Lining and Mulkin for sure, and Will Smith.
- 24:05So the upside there is tremendous and his floor is
- 24:08great. His shots hits have been decent
- 24:10his whole career and I think they're just gonna get better
- 24:13playoff schedule all like check marks now we we've spoken about
- 24:18trocheck versus laugh who's gonna be power play wasn't quite
- 24:21a bit zip is also a question mark You never know I wouldn't
- 24:25read too much into laugh is still not listed there right.
- 24:29I know I made the mistake with cider.
- 24:31I just. Wanted to make sure.
- 24:32Yeah, right now Laugh is Power Play too, but in their first
- 24:35game last night, he did get looks at Power Play 1.
- 24:38Third period he started on the Power Play 1.
- 24:41For sure they're still figuring it out.
- 24:43You know, had he been on that power play, maybe they would
- 24:45have been to able to crack the impenetrable wall that is Arthur
- 24:48Sheila. She loves who if you were
- 24:52listening to us in the offseason, we mentioned on our
- 24:54top ten top 10 signings of the offseason, he was, I think he
- 24:58had just cracked that list to make it top ten and now he's a
- 25:01starter for Pittsburgh. So listen, and we also, I just
- 25:05want to toot our horn one more time, but we did mention Alexis
- 25:09Lafreniere, as you know, a power forward to watch this season and
- 25:13a on our top 10 sleeper episode as well where we expected him to
- 25:17be able to take this step up if he gets the better deployment.
- 25:20And we were all optimistic about that happening.
- 25:22So listen, he's already putting up the category coverage after
- 25:25just one game. So we'll see.
- 25:26And if he gets that one, then it's just a big, big, big
- 25:29potential. Yeah, six shots and three hits
- 25:31last game. So that's kind.
- 25:32Of lame. That's pretty nice.
- 25:34Yeah. Good.
- 25:36Yeah, especially where you got on the opportunity cost.
- 25:39I really like it. So A+ back in that round.
- 25:43Alright Josh, my favorite pick on your team, Josh was a
- 25:47defenseman that I thought you got really good value on and it
- 25:50was Seth Jones of the Florida Panthers.
- 25:53Now, I feel like when you were making this cake, you were still
- 25:55kind of hesitant on if he's going to be 1 or not.
- 25:57Like you had your doubts thing. Everybody kind of had the
- 26:00question. But I mean, in my head it was
- 26:01always he's better than Eckblad. So he's going to be there.
- 26:04They traded for him last season. They they won the Cup.
- 26:06Like I think that's Jones the guy now.
- 26:08They just keep losing star players that are on that power
- 26:11play. So there's so many openings and
- 26:13I feel like it's just he's for sure on that power play.
- 26:17And Seth Jones has always been a category guy.
- 26:19Like he he hits, he blocks not an elite level, but he gets you
- 26:23like close to two. He shoots over 2.
- 26:25So he's almost like a triple double in the back categories.
- 26:28And now he's playing on a power play that's exposed to some top
- 26:31end talent. Like, yeah, now they're hurt,
- 26:33but there's still other guys that can get the job done.
- 26:35I think it was a tremendous pick where you got him in the 10th
- 26:37round. I'm really excited about that.
- 26:39Obviously I really like the cider pick and the laugh pick as
- 26:42well. But I think Jones is is a
- 26:44noteworthy because, well, getting a power play like
- 26:46quarterback that late in the draft on a team that's strong is
- 26:49always good. Yeah, the minutes are going to
- 26:52be there too. He is capable of playing a lot
- 26:55and more minutes is more production and either shots,
- 26:58blocks, hits, whatever it is. He's to me the one who's if they
- 27:05do go 1 defenseman at some point on the power play, I yeah, it'll
- 27:09be to imagine it's gonna be egg blood.
- 27:11They and it's you know, they're not dedicated to egg blood being
- 27:14the power play one guy when Monta was there monitor was
- 27:17always power play 1. So yeah, I think it's a really
- 27:20good pick. The value as meant Kevin
- 27:22mentioned is there. 10th round, pick 132.
- 27:25Like that's all. That's pretty late for him.
- 27:27Yeah, exactly. And right now, the Florida power
- 27:31play is a huge question mark because they're missing 2 of
- 27:33their best players who happened to also be two of the best
- 27:36players in the league. And you know, I just think that
- 27:40he's one of those guys that's gonna get an extended look.
- 27:43It's not a 100% guarantee, but 95 which is good enough.
- 27:48I'm not 0% worried about a SP1 deployment.
- 27:52Same. Well, yeah, I was pretty excited
- 27:55about that pic, but I definitely, I was following the
- 27:57PU onlines the entire training camp in Florida was one of two
- 28:00teams that had one of three teams I think that hadn't
- 28:03confirmed their power play 1 lines.
- 28:04So that's why I was iffy on him. I was honestly, if I was
- 28:08confirmed, if he was confirmed P1, I had him more slotted in as
- 28:11like an eighth round pick and then so when I saw him in the
- 28:1410th round, I was like, alright, I gotta take the chance because
- 28:16yeah, he also does the category coverage with potential power
- 28:19play on. Obviously the power is gonna be
- 28:20worse. Don't have Barkov or ketchup,
- 28:22Please check coming back halfway through the year.
- 28:24I think it's a you know, these are the few the few good picks
- 28:27before we get into all my my disasters.
- 28:29But alright, let's move on to our favorite players on Jake's
- 28:33team. I feel we need to go through
- 28:35these little bit faster. Yeah, OK, so my favorite player
- 28:38on Jake's team, surprising absolutely no one case.
- 28:40This is the new Gabe Vilardi nickel in the jar.
- 28:42For this year because. My way to replace.
- 28:46My favorite player on Jake's team is Dylan Holloway.
- 28:50I mean, I'm not going to go into too much about why I am obsessed
- 28:53with Holloway because I've spoken about it so much on the
- 28:55pod. I will say that specifically
- 28:57where Jakey got him in the draft is at. 9 throne.
- 29:00He got ninth round pick 115. 1:15 That's just disgusting.
- 29:04I was gonna take him. He's like.
- 29:06More pics. He sniped me super hard.
- 29:08But yeah, this is just insane value on Holloway.
- 29:11He could be a sixth round value or even higher, you know, I
- 29:14mean, I think he should have gone around sixth round and then
- 29:16you could bring even higher value than that.
- 29:18So getting him in the ninth round is just an absolute master
- 29:20class. My one thing that kept me from
- 29:22taking him a bit earlier was the playoff schedule.
- 29:24But like, it's a 234. You got through the quarter
- 29:26finals and then he has a great playoff schedule.
- 29:27So it's nothing too bad. And definitely I could be.
- 29:31It's possible that I overthink playoff schedules in this draft.
- 29:34So, So yeah, no, Holloway is an amazing pick and I'm super
- 29:38jealous that you snipe me on him.
- 29:39And he were on a call together, by the way, we were doing the
- 29:41draft, the three of us, we were on discord.
- 29:43And Jakey, not only did he snipe me, but he's like, Josh, you're
- 29:46gonna be so mad when I do this. And he, he built up the
- 29:48attention. It was me too.
- 29:51I knew exactly what he was gonna do but honestly he was thinking
- 29:54Halloween someone else and I forget who the other one was but
- 29:56it would be just as good of a pic.
- 29:58But he sniped me just to hurt my feelings and I'm over it.
- 30:00Josh Holly would have gotten taken by me before he got to
- 30:03you. So it doesn't doesn't.
- 30:04Even yeah, that makes me feel a bit better.
- 30:06Yeah, I can't believe he fell so hard and I'm.
- 30:09Looking, he didn't really fall. His ADP was even lower than
- 30:13that. I guess I look, I got some
- 30:16Kowski in the seventh round. I really wanted to kind of
- 30:18bolster my banger categories at that point and.
- 30:20I can honestly flip those and it's like it makes sense.
- 30:23Yeah, exactly. Like, I think Holloway is
- 30:25better. And there were other guys, you
- 30:26know, Monahan, Batherson, Dobson, Lacombe, Heiskanen,
- 30:32Fiala, Landeskog, you know, like these are just guys.
- 30:34Under score in the ninth. Wild.
- 30:36Yeah, in this. No, he went in the. 7th 7th
- 30:38Sorry, yeah. So that's what I'm saying where
- 30:41I got him. I can't believe that there are
- 30:42other guys Brian Rust went. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 30:48So just to me, I think where I got him is amazing.
- 30:50The double double from last year's there, the power play.
- 30:53One situation on Saint Louis, to me, does not mean much at all.
- 30:57No, it's a split. It's a.
- 30:58Split totally A1A1B. I guess whoever plays with
- 31:01Thomas the has the chance to do best because he's our best
- 31:04player. It's not set in stone at all
- 31:06though. It's gonna definitely develop,
- 31:08so I'm really excited about him. I mean, we've been talking about
- 31:12Dylan Holloway the whole offseason.
- 31:13If you've been listening, you know he's one of our guys.
- 31:15He is Josh's inter pick after all.
- 31:18But the yeah, I think we we mentioned it that, you know, his
- 31:22ADP and his rank is, was just so suppressed in these Yahoo drafts
- 31:26that if you wanted them on your team, you would have to take
- 31:28them ahead of ADP. It just depends how willing you
- 31:30are to wait for him to fall. And in our draft, obviously,
- 31:34like we all knew about him, so we're kind of competing with
- 31:36each other to take him. And Jake getting with the ninth
- 31:38round, we were talking about getting him in the 6th and 7th
- 31:41round in the offseason. Like that just ended up being
- 31:43tremendous value. Yeah, it was kind of just like a
- 31:46game of chicken with a lot of a lot of guys, especially because
- 31:48the three of us have been talking so much, like more than
- 31:50we ever have in the past because of this podcast, right?
- 31:52So we've just been sharing our ideas nonstop all summer.
- 31:55So there were a bunch of guys that we knew all three of us
- 31:58wanted and all three of us were willing to quote UN quote reach
- 32:00on above ADP. And it was just like a game of
- 32:02chicken, like who's gonna who's gonna bite first?
- 32:04But how long can I wait to get these guys out?
- 32:06And the Holloway case? Jakey got him, and he got him at
- 32:09the perfect time. Alright, so yes, my favorite on
- 32:14my team. I would consider him kind of
- 32:17like a Vincent Trocheck light. It's one of those guys that I
- 32:19always despised playing against, but I'm really excited about
- 32:22what he can do this year. Sam Bennett on the Florida
- 32:24Panthers, he had an absolute monster playoff.
- 32:26So I'm excited to see what he can do this season, especially
- 32:29with bar call about now. I don't know if it's gonna
- 32:32necessarily work in his favor or against him.
- 32:34It means more ice time, but maybe also harder matchups.
- 32:37Nevertheless, he got paid quote. Follow that money, as Josh likes
- 32:40to say. Yeah, he's just a peripheral
- 32:45category stud. I imagine he's stabled on that
- 32:50line. One Power play 1 all year and
- 32:53it's something that's gonna be really interesting to see.
- 32:56All the bark off entry, the bark of entry literally catapulted
- 33:01him so 4 rounds higher than he would have gone 4 rounds lower
- 33:05and have 4 rounds lower value before that injury because I
- 33:08don't think he's power play one if barkoff still.
- 33:10Still no, he's gone. So that was actually massive,
- 33:13like Sam Bennett and the entry I think happened like 2 days
- 33:15before our draft or something like.
- 33:17That a lot of people drafted already with barcode just going
- 33:20in their second or third. Round, yeah, that's great.
- 33:21So deep. Yeah, that's I love this pic.
- 33:25This was such an unreal pick. He was so high on my list of who
- 33:29I wanted to take. We'll get into more how I regret
- 33:33a lot of my picks, but my sixth round pick I should have much
- 33:37would have preferred taking Bennett than who I took.
- 33:38So 6 rounds, 82 like that's. My main concern, yeah was hit
- 33:44was his face offs and last night a small sample size.
- 33:46Literally one game he got 10. So yeah, if he's gonna be the
- 33:48one see on this team, he's gonna be put in the situation to be on
- 33:50the ice to take those face off. So it's not surprising that he
- 33:54gets double digits. Yeah, Kevin, in hindsight,
- 33:56please let me just make sure before I bring him.
- 33:59Up. I know who my sixth round pick
- 34:00is, you know. Yeah.
- 34:01Would you be happier having taken invented or coolly,
- 34:07honestly? You're bent it for me.
- 34:08I mean, listen, if you give me one for one, I would rather bend
- 34:12it obviously, but I'm, I'm pretty happy with how cool he
- 34:16fits into my team. He did.
- 34:18David, who won given who I given who I got at centre later in the
- 34:23draft. I'm I'm happy with how it fell.
- 34:25Well, yeah, we'll get into Cooley later.
- 34:27Yeah, alright, Kevin, who's your favorite prank on Jake's team?
- 34:30My favorite pick on Jake's team was somebody who he sniped me on
- 34:33and it was Mikhail Sergachev of the Utah Mammoth round 8 pick
- 34:41110. I, I was drafting consistently
- 34:45like 3 picks before or after Jakey.
- 34:48And I mean, I picked Dylan Cousins in three picks before
- 34:52Jakey picked Sergachev. So I'm pretty happy with that
- 34:56obviously. But Sergachev was at the time
- 34:58when Jake made the pick, the last I think quote UN quote
- 35:02elite power play quarterback that was on on the board.
- 35:06And to get him at that, at that price, I thought was just no
- 35:09brainer value. One thing with Utah is just the
- 35:12playoff schedule, but you'll be thriving throughout the whole
- 35:15season while he's on your roster.
- 35:17I I really wanted him as my my second defenseman to pair with
- 35:21Sanderson then end up happening and I'm I'm not the didn't phase
- 35:26me too hard, if I can say so myself.
- 35:27But no, I love the pic and I thought it was tremendous value.
- 35:31Yeah, it's such a good point on the tear break defence because
- 35:34to give you an idea of who got taken, literally 4 picks later
- 35:37it was Darnell Nurse. So just to give you an idea of
- 35:40like what defensemen like the tier break that was there.
- 35:43Yeah, no, it was my pick 7. Honestly, I would have taken him
- 35:48round seven over who I ended up taking.
- 35:51One pick after was Charlie McAvoy.
- 35:53Yeah, yeah. No, I love.
- 35:54That one, that one was interesting though, cuz I picked
- 35:57Sergachev and then I think it was one of those auto picks like
- 36:00yes, Macavoy still there Click yeah.
- 36:03So I mean I think McAvoy 2 was tier brick there too because he
- 36:07has also the Pimms and the back categories.
- 36:10But I mean, Circuit City way more points than McAvoy.
- 36:14Yeah, please. Just not good.
- 36:16Yeah. Definitely.
- 36:18So yeah, I'm pretty happy with the pic there.
- 36:20Cool. Let's go to our favorite picks
- 36:23on Kevin's team, starting with Josh.
- 36:25All right, again, unsurprisingly, my favorite pick
- 36:28on Kevin's team was Jake Sanderson in the fourth round.
- 36:31Like I said, I was targeting him in the 5th, but I think fourth
- 36:34round was the perfect place to take him with how the defensemen
- 36:37were falling and getting taken really early in our draft.
- 36:39I think he's going to have an unreal year.
- 36:41I think first of all, shots and blocks, he's really, really good
- 36:45at elite at blocks and just Ottawa and General we all think
- 36:48is gonna take a step forward. I don't need to harp on it too
- 36:50much because because we've talked about it a lot, but
- 36:53Sanderson was such a guy I wanted to leave the draft with.
- 36:56And Kevin Knightley. So yeah, good for you, Kevin.
- 37:01Thank you. We spoke about it a lot, but
- 37:04he's gonna return such great value.
- 37:05He has really elite potential, 80 plus point and nobody's
- 37:09considering him in the Bouchard conversation, but I think by
- 37:12this time next year we. Will and the power play points.
- 37:14Yeah, the PowerPoints. Ottawa.
- 37:15Ottawa is notorious for getting the most power plays in the
- 37:18league. Infamous.
- 37:20You've got elite divers. Is it controversial to say that?
- 37:25Because obviously we kind of know one of the reasons why they
- 37:27get so many power play points is power plays because Stutzel is
- 37:31known to be a little bit squishy.
- 37:34So, but I just wanna listen. We talked to Anderson so much.
- 37:38We have to go too deep into it. But Josh got Cider in the third
- 37:42round and Cider was the 5th defenseman off the board in our
- 37:44league, which is pretty crazy. Like right before him went
- 37:47Werenski and and Dalene, I believe, and Bouchard.
- 37:52Bouchard went before Cider, Yeah, so those were the top
- 37:56four. And then between Cider and
- 37:58Sanderson, the there was 3 defensemen taken.
- 38:01Victor Hedman went right after Cider.
- 38:02Who? I think I'd rather send us an
- 38:04overhead bin and then Adam Fox, who I was considering as hoping
- 38:09like you, would fall to me. And then Mackenzie Weinger got
- 38:13drafted 2 picks before I took Sanderson.
- 38:14So like there was a run that kind of happened there where I
- 38:17thought if I don't get Sanders in here, like the next best guy
- 38:20is like not worth taking in the fourth round.
- 38:21And I really want an elite guy. So I was really happy to.
- 38:24Sanderson felt to me there. He has a great pick.
- 38:27It's a great one. OK, my favorite pick on Kevin's
- 38:33team is Logan Cooley. You have the coolest team in
- 38:37the. Yeah.
- 38:39I got both of them. Whether it's quietly or cool for
- 38:43these years here. Oh my God.
- 38:46You don't have to believe that. OK, definitely believe moving on
- 38:51Logan Cooley, he can have an absolutely insane offensive year
- 38:55and by this time next year, second or third round pick.
- 38:58That's kind of where I think that we're gonna be talking
- 39:00about him. He has significantly more
- 39:02offensive potential than guys who were drafted around him.
- 39:05Demidov is the exception, I'd say because you really just
- 39:09don't know. Nevertheless, Cooley is
- 39:11absolutely awesome. I spoke about him in reaching
- 39:14the Jack Hughes potential at some point in his career, maybe
- 39:17not this year, but even if he ends up per game to 90 points, I
- 39:20think are going to be really happy.
- 39:23Yeah, he has a backlight point ceiling.
- 39:26Yeah. And honestly, for me, like, the
- 39:27biggest reason I think that he dropped to this low is because
- 39:32Utah was one of the other three, one of the three teams that
- 39:34didn't confirm their power Play 1 units in training camp.
- 39:37And so I was seeing a lot of it's cool.
- 39:39Gonna be partly 1. Is it going to be Hayton?
- 39:41Is it gonna be Peterka? Is gonna be Smaltz?
- 39:43So he wasn't confirmed at the time.
- 39:45I definitely wouldn't have let him slip that late if if I knew
- 39:48that he was probably 1. I still don't think it's
- 39:50guaranteed. But for now, he's power play 1.
- 39:53And I mean, that's where he should be, but I don't know if
- 39:55it's guaranteed the like whole season, but if he has power play
- 39:59one, he's a huge steal here. If he's not power, play one,
- 40:01he's just a small steel here. But either way, either way, it's
- 40:05a great pick. I would I would bet my house
- 40:08that he gets the he's the ninth round pick in our league, gets
- 40:12the most points by the end of the season.
- 40:15Like I'm looking at, he went. I took.
- 40:17Him just Demidov. That's the only question mark
- 40:19for me, but I would. Bet Cooley gets more points than
- 40:22Demodog. Yeah, I, I, I just don't, don't
- 40:24bet your actual house on this. In the same realm, Darnell
- 40:27Nurse, Neil Pyong, Bullhorn, Duchene Stamkos, Elers like.
- 40:34You say 100% it's it's a great pick where you got him and the
- 40:41Sky's the limit. I was gonna be very excited to
- 40:43watch. Him 3 pics later but since you
- 40:45took him that's when I took. Corvette and I was gonna take
- 40:48Dylan Holloway and Jackie took him 3 pics earlier so.
- 40:51Yeah, so happy with me. It's going on my top 2 choices
- 40:55that round. Yeah, I'm happy with my pic
- 40:57there, but it's really, really strong.
- 40:59It's gonna be great. Cooley.
- 41:01OK. Thank Kevin.
- 41:02Kevin, my favorite pic on my team, is also surprised no one
- 41:07he could have been a signature pick for me.
- 41:09To be honest, it is Dylan Cousins of the Ottawa Senators.
- 41:13I picked him in round 8 at pick 107 and I'm just super high for
- 41:19the link Cousins, if you're in the discord.
- 41:21If you're not in the discord, first of all, join it.
- 41:23We're talking literally all day long.
- 41:25If you're in the Discord, then you know that I've already given
- 41:27some advice on how to get Dylan Cousins on your roster and.
- 41:29Haven't track of that rostered percentage so that you can flip
- 41:32and I'm kidding. He's already, I mean all she's
- 41:35not. He's only a 45%.
- 41:37Wow. Shocker Eazy disappear scene.
- 41:39Yeah, purses are are deep, but Dylan Cousins, there's not many,
- 41:44you know, purses out there that have the point ceiling and also
- 41:47the banger category coverage. Like after the trade to Ottawa,
- 41:50he was, he had, I feel like more often than not over three hits a
- 41:54game. He had some games with six,
- 41:55eight hits a game. It's just this Ottawa team loves
- 41:58to bang and listen, we're Bangor management, so how could I not
- 42:01want him on my team? I think he's an elite category
- 42:05stuffer and playing on potentially the top five power
- 42:10play in the league. I think he has a huge ceiling
- 42:13this year. He was my pick that round.
- 42:15I took Circuit Chip a few rounds late, a few pics later, but I
- 42:19was absolutely gonna go with Cousins.
- 42:20You got him in the 8th, which is amazing.
- 42:23I got Sam Bennett in the 6th. I don't really see much of a
- 42:26difference between them, to be honest, other than the
- 42:28deployment. Yeah, he doesn't have as much
- 42:30competition, but it. Yeah.
- 42:32The what? The Pimm's, I think Bennett has
- 42:34a big advantage. Exactly.
- 42:35Yeah, Collins is one of the more elite pure CPIM guys as well.
- 42:39Yeah. Yeah, no, no shade on Cousins,
- 42:40but I do think. He gets more Pimms.
- 42:43Yeah, I know where and this is maybe a bit of a reach, but
- 42:48we're definitely not considering him in the conversation with
- 42:51Stitzel. But lest we forget, the Cousins
- 42:54was drafted as a 7th overall pick in 2019.
- 42:58He's he's 24 years old. There's no.
- 43:02Buffalo got rid of him. It's crazy.
- 43:04Absolutely not, but there's no reason for me to say 100% that
- 43:09was going to be the guy over him this year.
- 43:12I know it seems like that's the case, but I really think the
- 43:14ceiling for Cousins tremendous. I think Stutzel will be there,
- 43:17but like Cousins gonna be playing with Drake Batherson and
- 43:19and David Perron. So like that's honestly like a
- 43:23really good second line and he's stabled on that P1 for now, so.
- 43:26Yeah, no, I love this pic. In that round I went with my
- 43:29first goalie and severely regret it.
- 43:33Severely. I usually GO0G and but this time
- 43:36I thought the value on the goalie was to was too high here
- 43:39in the eighth round. It was Darcy Kemper if anyone's
- 43:42wondering. But but yeah, if I hadn't taken
- 43:44Kemper, would have taken Cousins there, so.
- 43:46You're welcome. Thank you, Josh.
- 43:48I appreciate it. So, yeah, so I think we could
- 43:51kind of just skim through the next section over here.
- 43:54It's basically our best value pick because.
- 43:56We've already spoken, we've already mentioned all of them.
- 43:58It's all just mentioned. Mine is Seth Jones, got to take
- 44:01him round 10 pick 132 but we already discussed him so we have
- 44:05to discuss them more. Same, mine was Dylan Holloway
- 44:07around 9:00 pick 115. He's a stud for bangers.
- 44:10I love the Blues. I'm very happy about it.
- 44:12And mine was I think best value pick with Logan, we round nine
- 44:17pick 118 like he was .87 points per game last season.
- 44:21And that was without him being on P1.
- 44:23If he gets P1 this year, like we're kind of thinking he's
- 44:26gonna get, looking at the line rushes going into Game 1, he
- 44:28could be over point per game and in the ninth round that feels
- 44:30and that's. Yeah, all right, now I'm more
- 44:33fun category. Let's get to our biggest reaches
- 44:35of the draft. OHS do we regret it?
- 44:38Alright, my biggest reach of the draft is a guy that I hate
- 44:42having on my team and I don't know why I.
- 44:43Can't believe you put this. I just honestly, honestly, we
- 44:49were on the Discord call and I got in my head about trying to
- 44:52make you guys laugh. And then I just took him.
- 44:54And anyways, around 676, I took Andre Svechnikov.
- 44:58He could, it could work out really well for me.
- 45:00It could be this could be the year, right?
- 45:02But how many more years do we give him until it's like, OK,
- 45:04it's never the year. Realistically, pimp shots and
- 45:07hits. He's gonna be fine.
- 45:08So his floor super safe. It's just that I think there
- 45:11were better guys could safer guys could have taken like I
- 45:14have taken Marchenko who got taken a pic after I could have
- 45:16taken Bennett who Jackie took a few pics after that.
- 45:18So I'm not in love with this pick.
- 45:21It could end up being one of my better picks but but it's
- 45:23definitely I think the biggest reach that I made.
- 45:26I like it. I I personally think it can
- 45:29really work out. You you have a personal vendetta
- 45:32against him. But it was trying to overcome my
- 45:34own emotions and I felt about him and that's why I took him,
- 45:37because I felt like it could be right, but I'm not.
- 45:40Sure Josh this is wild because I was devastated when you took
- 45:43exception Ikov. Like he was like if we talked
- 45:46about always having backup options for your picks.
- 45:49Like when Gov went, I was like crying and didn't have time to
- 45:53set up my backup options because clearly my round six pick is my
- 45:56just reach. So yeah, so why don't we go to
- 46:00the. I'm not worried about him.
- 46:02I think he's a double double. I think he gets over a pimp per
- 46:04game, which is just nuts to match with that category
- 46:07category coverage. And I think it's gonna be 1 the
- 46:09whole season. So if he's not, then I'll be
- 46:12relieved that I didn't get them and.
- 46:17That's why it's yeah, that's fair.
- 46:21You got the Patriots hits that are gonna be there.
- 46:23So yeah, I, I think the, I actually think I, I disagree
- 46:26with what you said because I think he's a much safer pig than
- 46:28Marchenko. In fact, the way I would say it
- 46:32is that yes, Mark is better for points, most likely.
- 46:35But what you're going to get was fresh.
- 46:37I don't think you're going to be not unhappy with it.
- 46:39And considering the fact that when he's burned you in the
- 46:41past, me as well, by the way, I've taken him in the third or
- 46:44fourth round, in the sixth, you're pretty happy.
- 46:47I feel like there's no real way for him to disappoint value and
- 46:50it's nowhere but up. Alright, well that makes me feel
- 46:54a bit better about that fake. I have a lot of other ones that
- 46:55I'll talk about. After yeah so you know we'll
- 46:58we'll stick with Kevin here cause he also had his biggest
- 47:01reach in round 6 so why don't you have. 3 picks later.
- 47:04So my pick was 3 picks after Josh, so clearly I was tilting a
- 47:07little bit. And listen, it happens to
- 47:08everybody, but I really wanted this guy on my roster and I paid
- 47:12up for him because that's what's so tough about doing a podcast
- 47:17with these gems that I just don't know when they're going to
- 47:20take the guys that I want. So I just feel like I have to
- 47:22take them way earlier than their and their projected to go and
- 47:24Josh kept talking about like, oh, I know I'm gonna take and
- 47:27Kevin, you're gonna hate this. I was like, no, but I picked
- 47:32Will Cooley of the Rangers in the sixth round.
- 47:36Now listen, that might sound crazy.
- 47:39There is, there are some logic behind it.
- 47:41Like listen, I wanted Rangers guys on my roster.
- 47:43They have the best playoff schedule.
- 47:45Will Cooley was one of like 2 guys last season that could
- 47:49completely like, you know, make the his category in your matchup
- 47:52super lopsided. It was him and Sherwood that,
- 47:54you know, on a on a game by game basis, they could get like
- 47:57double digit hits and just like completely overwhelm your
- 48:00opponent. That mixed with the playoff
- 48:03schedule. Also with all the the positive
- 48:06news that he was getting in preseason about like how he's
- 48:08stabled in the top 6. They're expecting big things
- 48:10from him this year. He's gonna be, he's gonna be
- 48:12playing on the wing of either JT Miller or Trocheck.
- 48:15So I thought honestly, I really wanted him on my team.
- 48:18Looking back, I probably could have got him around 789.
- 48:22I don't know when they would have taken him.
- 48:24But listen, I made the pick in round six.
- 48:25I'm happy he's on my team. Like I feel like I made it work
- 48:27with my later picks. But yeah, definitely a big
- 48:30reach. He's probably not even going
- 48:31close to that in most of their leagues.
- 48:34Yeah, I was shocked when you made this pick.
- 48:36I'll be honest, I was like, no way.
- 48:38So first of all, it's not about the quality of the pick cause I
- 48:40think he's going to be a huge asset to your team.
- 48:42The playoff schedule is unreal. He might just when you hit in
- 48:45all three playoff weeks just because you have him.
- 48:47So I don't think there's, I'm super happy.
- 48:50I wish I had him on my team. So that's not what it is.
- 48:51It's just obviously where you drafted him.
- 48:53Yeah, I had him pegged. That's like around 8 or 9 guy.
- 48:56And so that just was completely out of left field for me.
- 48:59I didn't realize that the switch like a snipe like like threw you
- 49:02off so hard did it? Did I really wanted him?
- 49:05I think it's, I think it's definitely, I definitely thought
- 49:07it was a big reach. But he's still gonna be amazing
- 49:09for you. And I think he's definitely
- 49:11gonna take a big step from last year.
- 49:12I think with how I made my picks after, I kind of like lessened
- 49:14the blow of taking him. And definitely made-up for it
- 49:16with other pics for sure. It kind of helps me a little
- 49:20bit, but yeah, obviously huge reach on him and looking back,
- 49:23definitely would not have made it at the same spot.
- 49:26Look, he could return on value. He doesn't necessarily have to
- 49:29exceed. Not all your pics are going to
- 49:31exceed. And because of the floor and
- 49:32what Josh mentioned, it's a great point that he's going to
- 49:34win. Who hits every week?
- 49:36In the that was my logic. It's actually, it makes a lot of
- 49:39sense. That's like one category that
- 49:41you basically don't have to worry about.
- 49:42And I think he gets more points than did last year so.
- 49:45For sure. Yeah, yeah, we all agree he's
- 49:46gonna take a step up. More than Tom Wilson.
- 49:50More points than Tom Wilson. I would have bet my house on it.
- 49:53Would be close, yeah. But anyway, I I don't hate the
- 49:58pick at all, but of course it actually is a reach.
- 50:00If we were not in this league and like they had like three
- 50:03other people instead, I feel like you would have gone around
- 50:0712. Yeah, yeah, I could have done.
- 50:09I could have got away later. I just you guys got in my head
- 50:11not by using necessarily saying anything, just by me knowing you
- 50:14guys also like well. Cool knowing we exist.
- 50:18Yeah, so I feel like you guys are less of a fan of this pic
- 50:20than I am. Actually, I know you are.
- 50:22But I actually put this reach in for you.
- 50:26Yeah, put in both your reaches for you.
- 50:28Yeah, but I did disagree. Yeah, so it was Cam Fowler round
- 50:3410 pick 138I. I don't wanna regret it.
- 50:39And I I really think that my thought process here and I maybe
- 50:44like missing some variables, but I think that he's stapled to the
- 50:47Blues power play one, which as we mentioned is not necessarily
- 50:50set in stone because it could be one A1B.
- 50:53I just think that he's gonna get the most power play time of any
- 50:56defenseman on this team. I do love the Blues and I think
- 50:59he's gonna pretty much he's gonna be there.
- 51:03He's gonna get the ice. I'm going back in time.
- 51:05I probably would have taken Mctavish or you know, Raquel
- 51:08because those are the next few drafted.
- 51:10But considering the next defenseman that was drafted was
- 51:12Rasmus Andersson Montor, the Nightblade, I'm not unhappy
- 51:17having taken Fowler because I was in pretty desperate need for
- 51:21a defenseman at that point. So that was, I hate being in
- 51:24that spot. I really do.
- 51:25I like having a well-rounded team that I could just go for
- 51:27the guy that I think is going to be super good.
- 51:29But I was looking at what I had there was like, I need to pick
- 51:31up defenseman. I do think that that context is
- 51:35huge because I didn't register how desperately in need of a
- 51:38defenseman you were. And then looking at the other
- 51:40day that got taken, it makes the pig make a lot more sense.
- 51:43I still feel. And maybe also it makes sense in
- 51:45the fact that you're so high on the Blues, right?
- 51:48So it the pig makes sense with the logic that you're saying.
- 51:52To me, though, like I feel like you could have got Fowler like
- 51:54around like 15 really. Maybe I'm exaggerating.
- 51:57I don't know Kevin, what you think, but to me, like he was
- 52:00such a like, what makes him that much better?
- 52:04Does he get back? Like what makes him that much
- 52:05better than like some of the power play 1 defenseman who
- 52:07aren't even drafted in our league?
- 52:09You know, like you look at like a like a Klingberg Drysdale.
- 52:13You know, those guys aren't drafted in the league.
- 52:15They both play on DeAngelo. So that's why it's me.
- 52:17I was surprised by the pick. But if you're that high on the
- 52:20Blues, he did go kind of nuts after he got traded there last
- 52:22year. So it's not like there's no
- 52:24history to bank it on. So he got he followed that
- 52:27money. You know, he got signed.
- 52:28So look in the pig. Makes sense.
- 52:30I definitely still think it's a reach.
- 52:32Like you could have got him later but but I think he could
- 52:34still be a solid asset to your team.
- 52:36Yeah, I mean. I already did in the playoffs
- 52:37though. Like do you guys know what his
- 52:39stats? Were I don't know what's up in
- 52:40my head. 10 points in seven games.
- 52:44Yeah, actually I remember that. Wasn't he like leading the
- 52:46league in the in playoff points that by like game two or
- 52:48something? And 36 points in 51 games after
- 52:51being traded there. Like these are elite, elite
- 52:53numbers. Like I'm not excited about the
- 52:55back categories, but I think this is just one of those pick
- 52:58up power play kind of specialist later on and hope for the best.
- 53:01That's fair. The issue and I won't go on for
- 53:04too long, but the issue with Fowler is that he's like Josh
- 53:07said, like he's one of those one-dimensional power play
- 53:10quarterbacks that you know, he'll get you to power play
- 53:12points, but he's not really getting you anything else.
- 53:13He's not getting hits, blocks or shots.
- 53:16So I not gonna lie, J, when I saw you make the pick in the
- 53:1910th round, I was like pretty happy because he was like not
- 53:22even close to anybody that was considering.
- 53:24And I generally thought it was just it was bad.
- 53:26It was bad value. I got, I ended up getting Morgan
- 53:30Riley at pick 22 in the 15th round, like the same kind of guy
- 53:34as Fowler where you're not really getting much category
- 53:36coverage, he's just getting you power play points and Eric.
- 53:39Carlson got gas despair in the 19th rounds.
- 53:42And at the same. Time they would take Gosta spare
- 53:44over Fowler. I take while Carlson and gossip
- 53:47spare probably over father. Yeah, look, I, I can't.
- 53:51Not put all but. All of these like Will Cooley in
- 53:54the sixth round and like it was a tenth round pick who like the
- 53:57replacement value is not. Like, I picked freaking Dougie
- 53:59Hamilton in the seventh round, and that's not looking very good
- 54:02right now. I'd rather have come foul, but
- 54:05honestly, maybe. But yeah, I know.
- 54:07Also, like, Jake's had his hunches before where they paid
- 54:09off, so it's not like this is crazy.
- 54:11Like, if the Blues are as good as you think they're gonna be,
- 54:13there's a great pick so. He's gonna end up somewhere in
- 54:15the middle of like he won't do what the Blues did at the end of
- 54:18last season where they were just like on a tear for two months.
- 54:20But he's not going to be like zeros like a Gossip Bear can be.
- 54:24So I think he I think he can end up being like, what's what's 36
- 54:29points in 51 games? That's like .7 points per game.
- 54:32Like I think he can be like a point 6.65 quite easily.
- 54:37And it's super solid and being like point that's very decent.
- 54:43Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:44We'll have to see how it goes. You're right though.
- 54:45I mean, it's a total reach. I don't know in hindsight, like
- 54:48I'm happy I have them on my team, but value is kind of where
- 54:51things are at here, so. Yeah, I think all right.
- 54:55Yeah. Funny because this is so us
- 54:59like. What?
- 55:00We're about to say is just like unmistakably characteristic of
- 55:06all of us. Yeah.
- 55:08So the last segment of this post draft discussion is going to be
- 55:11we're going to rate our own teams out of 10 and say how do
- 55:14we feel about our team in general?
- 55:17We could discuss. So I'll I'll go first with my
- 55:21ranking. I think that's what JQ was
- 55:22talking about. I mean just in general, but.
- 55:24Josh is so dramatic. I ranked my team a 5 out of 10.
- 55:30I think I took way too many high risk, high reward guys.
- 55:33So here's I added some more that I didn't even think we're hiring
- 55:36skyward, but new things have come out.
- 55:38So I put slider there. I thought that was a safe bet.
- 55:40But now does he lose power play 1?
- 55:42It's a possibility. I put sketch because again, you
- 55:44never know what rod Rod has bumped him off play in the past.
- 55:46Hamilton's most recent lines show that he's powerfully 2 for
- 55:50and Luke Hughes took his spot. That's a huge risk higher award.
- 55:52I took Seth Jones, that ones like one of them that seems to
- 55:55be paying off Evander Kane I took in the 11th round and he's
- 55:58a bangers beast but he's also a bionic man, super old and I took
- 56:03him cause he's power play one but it's very unlikely that
- 56:06sticks long term. Lafreniere, another one I took
- 56:09fourteenth round. Is he going to crack power play
- 56:11one? Who knows?
- 56:11That's free value though. Fourteenth round.
- 56:13Yeah, Crider, I took 16th round. Who knows if the Ducks are do
- 56:16anything. Cried, had an awful year last
- 56:17year. I think I took so many and then
- 56:19I took goalies. I took camper in the 8th and I
- 56:22took it to court in the 12th. And yeah, it's just I feel like
- 56:26I took so many high risk Harward guys.
- 56:28And what are the odds? All my, all my risks pay off.
- 56:31So it's just the it's sometimes it felt like I could have taken
- 56:34a safer guy who could have a similar ceiling without having
- 56:36the risk in it. So that's kind of where I'm
- 56:38feeling right now. And yeah, I don't know what you
- 56:41guys think of my team. I think that you're high risk,
- 56:45high reward picks were fine because of where you took them.
- 56:48That's the truth. And I feel like Kevin's probably
- 56:50on the same page as me here. And it's not as if it's not as
- 56:55if your team doesn't look good. You know what I mean?
- 56:58Like the the safe guy, you didn't list the safe guys.
- 57:00Like you're definitely way too low on your team than you should
- 57:03be I think. I mean, I will give the viewer
- 57:06some context. The three years that I won
- 57:10back-to-back, if you asked me to rate my own team, I probably
- 57:12would have given a similar rating.
- 57:14So. Yeah, but like look like you're
- 57:18you're top 4, which we listed Miller Crosby cider and Thompson
- 57:22cider. I know you put him in the risk
- 57:23category, but no, I don't think I feel like that saw such a
- 57:28solid beginning and foundation that sure, like you may have a
- 57:32slightly more high risk, high rewards, but statistically it's
- 57:36going to work out and you'll be OK.
- 57:39Yeah, I mean, listen, I'm not reading your team out of five
- 57:41out of 10. Do I like my team more?
- 57:44Yes, but also drafted my team so.
- 57:47That's fair. I'd hope you guys both like your
- 57:49teams more. But I I5 is way too low.
- 57:52I would give you like at least an 8 on 10.
- 57:54I I think that you're set up, you have a strong foundation and
- 57:57you can develop your team in various different ways given
- 58:01like the foundational pieces you have.
- 58:03And yeah, I mean, listen, it always feels bad when you get
- 58:06when you take goalies earlier and then you look at your
- 58:09opponents skaters and you're like, why?
- 58:11They have so many better skaters than me?
- 58:13But like, you drafted goalies higher and then that usually
- 58:16ends up paying off in certain weeks throughout the season.
- 58:18Obviously, 0G is a very popular strategy because a lot of
- 58:21uncertainty happens with goalies.
- 58:23So I feel like this is the first year that you invest so much in
- 58:26goalies. Yeah.
- 58:28And we'll see that. That's honestly gonna make or
- 58:31break the entire value. But Kemper, I had Kemper last
- 58:35year and I dropped him in the fourth round.
- 58:37And he was arguably a top five goalie for most of the fantasy
- 58:40season when he was playing. So he's a stud.
- 58:43Like, obviously, you know, he played one game and it didn't go
- 58:46well. He also played the Colorado
- 58:47Avalanche, so. Yeah, I'm not.
- 58:49I'm learning. About it.
- 58:50Yeah, exactly. Yeah, natures only have lunch.
- 58:55Yeah, yeah. OK, how do you feel about your
- 58:58team? I I would rate my team a 9.3 on
- 59:0510 And here's a little bit of an interesting tangent.
- 59:08OK after recording our mail back episode which we dropped on
- 59:13September 30th, I basically realized that getting a blocking
- 59:17defenseman with legit offensive potential and the output is
- 59:21extremely rare. So because of that, basically
- 59:24just decided not to focus on that in our draft.
- 59:27I picked all offensive guys, centre, left wing, right wing
- 59:31from round one to seven. And at that point in the
- 59:36projections in the last year ranked, I was ranked like upper
- 59:41middle of the pack as far as blocks go.
- 59:44So that to me basically shows that even if you know Nikishin,
- 59:51who was like a guy I drafted later on, does nothing for
- 59:54blocks. Like they're like the these
- 59:56stats that accumulate being like a good block team doesn't
- 59:59correlate really with much else. Then I'm happy.
- 1:00:03With what I ended up with, and I'm way more offensive, but I
- 1:00:08like the archetype that all my forwards are basically gonna
- 1:00:10help me with a lot of categories help me win matchups.
- 1:00:13My goal tending is a problem, no question about it.
- 1:00:16I think you only drafted 1 goalie and it was Stuart Skin.
- 1:00:18I have Stuart Skinner and I was debating really, really hard
- 1:00:22between picking up person on Philly or Shiloh, but he knows
- 1:00:26Pittsburgh Penguins and I, I, I chose Wesley but.
- 1:00:31Jordan, there's no way you're picking Sheilas because he got
- 1:00:33confirmed as the starter like hours before the start of.
- 1:00:35The year it was, I mean, like, not that I'm super high on Earth
- 1:00:38than you though, I mean like as a safer bet.
- 1:00:40So I went Ursin, but that wouldn't hindsight was a
- 1:00:42mistake. And Fowler, Nikishin and
- 1:00:45Sergachev, I think it would be a serviceable top 3D core.
- 1:00:48So because I'm really not, I didn't build a defenseman team.
- 1:00:51I think that's fine for now, especially if Nikishin is good.
- 1:00:54So yeah, we'll see how things go.
- 1:00:56I built A-Team based on forwards based on category coverage.
- 1:01:00My face offs are a bit weak but I still really like my
- 1:01:03foundation and I think it could go really well for me.
- 1:01:06Did you say you're eating? Yeah, he said his 9.3 out of 10.
- 1:01:10I really like your team, honestly.
- 1:01:12I I think, yeah, definitely goalies and defensemen are where
- 1:01:15you kind of punted, but your forwards are sick, so that could
- 1:01:18easily make up for it. Just need to make some trades
- 1:01:21with the right people. It gave me a not Kevin.
- 1:01:27There we go. Or just me and not Josh, but
- 1:01:30yeah, yeah. OK.
- 1:01:32So I gave my team an 8.5 out of 10 and honestly I walked out of
- 1:01:38the draft and I was on cloud 9 because I was honestly thrilled
- 1:01:42with how it how it went. I also punted goalies and
- 1:01:46defensemen to an extent. I was the last team to draft the
- 1:01:49goalie around my my first goalie pick was around 17.
- 1:01:52I drafted UPL of the Buffalo Sabres who didn't even make it
- 1:01:55out of the draft without getting injured and in around 20 the
- 1:02:01last round of our draft I drafted the Joseph Wall to have
- 1:02:04a an IR stash and then after the draft I ended up picking up
- 1:02:07Scott Wedgewood and Freddie Anderson who Scott Wedgewood is
- 1:02:10currently the starter for. The Avalanche just played game
- 1:02:12one and looked like a stud. So listen if Blackwood needs to
- 1:02:15rest I wouldn't hate that. And Kochetkov is also currently
- 1:02:19hurt, so Freddie Anderson is also the starter on Carolina.
- 1:02:23So I'm not too upset about having those two goaltenders
- 1:02:27while Wallin looking in around my IR.
- 1:02:31My defensemen were obviously I punted right.
- 1:02:35So Jake Sanderson was my fourth round pick and I don't think I
- 1:02:37dropped a defenseman until like round 14 after that.
- 1:02:40So but I'm really happy with how it turned out.
- 1:02:43I think my decor with Sanderson Morgan, Riley Carlson and then I
- 1:02:47have a Romanov rounding it out for more of a a banger guy.
- 1:02:51Pretty happy with that. Super happy with my centres.
- 1:02:54I I have a trocheck cousins Josh Norris and Logan Cooley and I
- 1:02:59feel like all you know, top three of those guys are bangers
- 1:03:02centres who I'm really hyped about.
- 1:03:04Who are all Josh Norris? I feel like he's a sleeper this
- 1:03:07year. We nobody really talked about
- 1:03:08him that much because he's squishy and kind of gets.
- 1:03:10Really wanted him. I was pissed when he took him.
- 1:03:14Rendering Tage Thompson and is going to be the one see on that
- 1:03:17Buffalo team who people are, you know, saying it should finally
- 1:03:20be better than last year. So really.
- 1:03:23Yeah, he he's healthy, will be great.
- 1:03:25Yeah, I I love your team. I mean, I'm always the guy who
- 1:03:28takes Norris like late in the draft.
- 1:03:29You took him earlier than I wanted to, so that's why you got
- 1:03:32him. But but yeah, I know this team
- 1:03:34is actually just unreal. I'm looking at your draft and I
- 1:03:37think other the only like pick that step like jumps out to me
- 1:03:40is the Will Cooley one. But since every other pick is
- 1:03:43such a fire pick, it makes up for it for where you took him.
- 1:03:46So yeah, I would be shocked if your team is not.
- 1:03:49Look, as long as you keep getting lucky with goalies, then
- 1:03:52then I think you're you're probably in the best situation.
- 1:03:55I think that's both where both you guys are.
- 1:03:57I think you you need to figure out your goalies.
- 1:03:59And if you do, then you have top teams in the league.
- 1:04:01And if not, you'll be still, you know, in the playoffs,
- 1:04:04obviously, but but that's the biggest question mark and.
- 1:04:08We've done this in the past, Josh, where like, you know.
- 1:04:10You're always personal stuff. Why?
- 1:04:11Does your goalies end up, you draft the goalies later, right?
- 1:04:14So you're replacing that with drafting skaters at value, like
- 1:04:18round seven, round eight are getting skaters instead of
- 1:04:20goalies. And then you just you just patch
- 1:04:22up the holes with goalies throughout the season.
- 1:04:24Like, yeah, you may not have the consistency, but you're already
- 1:04:26making up for it by winning so many skater cats throughout the
- 1:04:29season that, you know, if you steal the odd week with, you
- 1:04:32know, you get upl getting a shutout or something and then
- 1:04:35you end up winning three out of five goalie cats that week.
- 1:04:38That's just really on top of your scars already being studs.
- 1:04:42Now, honestly, I got so in my head about since I knew you guys
- 1:04:44were both going 0G also and I figured more people in the
- 1:04:48league were gonna do it. I was like, OK, maybe I'll like
- 1:04:50shake things up and do kind of like a middle G strategy so
- 1:04:53that, you know, there's not too much crowding at the bottom,
- 1:04:56like fighting for all those waiver bullies.
- 1:04:57Yeah. So we'll see what happens.
- 1:04:59It it could be nice if my goalies pay off, you know, then
- 1:05:02it could be nice not having to stress about that all season.
- 1:05:04But I definitely not the happiest of how my draft went
- 1:05:07obviously compared to you guys who are I would have I would
- 1:05:10have gone get. Temper then punted their second
- 1:05:12goalie like later than the cord. Yeah, honestly just like the
- 1:05:16projections I was looking at had the cord ranked so much higher
- 1:05:18than where his ADP was that I felt like I had to take him.
- 1:05:21And we when we talked about, you know, I was relistening also
- 1:05:24when I was working out to our, to our division rankings and we
- 1:05:28were all just saying like Seattle's mid.
- 1:05:29But the court is 6. So I, you know, I was, I always
- 1:05:32kind of thought he was really good and I thought he had some
- 1:05:34great stretches last year. So we'll see.
- 1:05:36First game hasn't even started yet for some of these teams.
- 1:05:39So there's still a lot that's up in the air.
- 1:05:41But I think it's gonna be an exciting year for us.
- 1:05:43And I'm excited to proclaim my season over every night until it
- 1:05:46actually ends. And now the listeners know we
- 1:05:50all work out. I also just wanna, you know,
- 1:05:56we'll wrap it up right here, but if you're curious about what the
- 1:05:59rest of our team looks like, join the discord.
- 1:06:02I'm telling you, it's such a good time and we're posting our
- 1:06:05teams in there. We're discussing maybe we'll run
- 1:06:07a poll after this episode goes live on posting our teams in
- 1:06:10Discord, complete teams and having you guys vote on who you
- 1:06:12whose team you like best on and see how that goes.
- 1:06:15But just wanted to shout that out.
- 1:06:16Because anyone who votes, just know that I'm very, I think very
- 1:06:20offence to stuff and I'm very, I react very emotionally.
- 1:06:23So if you don't rate me highly, I'll cry.
- 1:06:27It's gonna be higher than A5 on 10.
- 1:06:29It's like it's a decent decent bar to clear I think.
