- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 3: The Patriots great out as the second best team, I
- 0:23Speaker 3: guess is the way to put it in terms of
- 0:25Speaker 3: net differential of opponent rest versus Patriots.
- 0:30Speaker 2: But the geeks of our taken over the schedule.
- 0:33Speaker 4: But but that's I didn't realize I could despise this.
- 0:37Speaker 2: How do you leave oysters?
- 0:38Speaker 5: You realize they look like a giant snot and you're like,
- 0:40Speaker 5: I don't really want to eat that.
- 0:41Speaker 2: If the UK Patriots fans want to, you know, do
- 0:44Speaker 2: a party, I'll go, yeah.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I mean America's guest will be different.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I love Evans defense of his manhood is ask my daddy.
- 0:54Speaker 5: They're always out back smoking cigarettes still and they're like,
- 0:56Speaker 5: who does this?
- 0:57Speaker 4: Like, you know, can I get you more?
- 0:59Speaker 5: And m kinn person comes once a month and just
- 1:03Speaker 5: bathrooms and kitchen.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Can't hide money over there.
- 1:06Speaker 2: But I've got to hear your thoughts on Helen Keller.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I'm not saying that she's not a real person, but
- 1:10Speaker 2: she couldn't be blind and dad her whole life and
- 1:13Speaker 2: somehow give speeches and even fly a plane, probably mixing
- 1:16Speaker 2: her up.
- 1:16Speaker 6: With Amelia Air.
- 1:19Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.

- 1:28Speaker 2: Alright, alright, I'm a little hot. I'm hot. Welcome the
- 1:33Speaker 2: Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday?
- 1:36Speaker 6: Did I get that right?
- 1:37Speaker 2: Is there richel Lette Stadium? And uh, we'll be here
- 1:40Speaker 2: until two o'clock, talking patriots. We've got the first full
- 1:44Speaker 2: crew Ota that we witnessed yesterday. It is pretty good
- 1:49Speaker 2: to be out there seeing the whole team minus a
- 1:52Speaker 2: few people, which we'll get into. But it's Deuce, it's Tamaraw,
- 1:56Speaker 2: it's Evan, it's Paul, it's myself. And like I said,
- 1:59Speaker 2: we're here until two o'clock. Talking patriots. Can't wait, so
- 2:03Speaker 2: let's get right into it. Yesterday we had the privilege
- 2:07Speaker 2: of being at OTAs. What did you guys think?
- 2:11Speaker 7: I thought it was a lot of the veterans, you know,
- 2:12Speaker 7: I think a lot of the rookies were down the
- 2:14Speaker 7: depth chart. And Evan's got plenty of Sorry about my voice,
- 2:17Speaker 7: I've got getting over a little cold here, So I
- 2:19Speaker 7: got my sexy voice today. But I think it was
- 2:22Speaker 7: a lot of Jacoby Brissett and Bailey's Appy taking the
- 2:25Speaker 7: majority of the reps.
- 2:26Speaker 6: And I think that was a little you know, jarring.
- 2:28Speaker 7: Charring, Well, just like come on, let's get the kid ready,
- 2:31Speaker 7: like this kid's the future. And everything that you know
- 2:33Speaker 7: you see is you know Drake May working with with
- 2:36Speaker 7: Baker and Polk after practice. I mean, I love these
- 2:39Speaker 7: things we saw him. You know, micd Out if you
- 2:40Speaker 7: have checked that out, it's great, you know, you just
- 2:43Speaker 7: you want to get as much as you can. I'm
- 2:44Speaker 7: just I'm trying to reserve judgment because it's an early
- 2:46Speaker 7: it's the first part.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Do you want that? But they had their rookie mining
- 2:49Speaker 2: camp and now the veterans here.
- 2:51Speaker 6: Yeah, so it's like get in line.
- 2:52Speaker 8: I think.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 9: And I think as the kids always say like they
- 2:55Speaker 9: need to be a sponge and learn, I think he's
- 2:57Speaker 9: trying to have them look and see how the vets
- 2:59Speaker 9: do it. Learn from that, and when you get your reps,
- 3:02Speaker 9: then you know what you're doing right, or at least
- 3:03Speaker 9: that's the hope.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 6: I think.
- 3:04Speaker 4: So I didn't care for it.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Too many qbs.
- 3:08Speaker 4: I'm just gonna I'm gonna come out and say it
- 3:10Speaker 4: didn't care for it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: What did you not care for?
- 3:14Speaker 3: Well, let's start with the quarterbacks, because this is true
- 3:17Speaker 3: all up and down the roster. So I don't want
- 3:19Speaker 3: to make it just about the quarterbacks, but that's obviously
- 3:22Speaker 3: the biggest thing. I don't you drafted two developmental quarterbacks,
- 3:27Speaker 3: two guys that are very raw, and one guy at
- 3:30Speaker 3: third overall who's the future of the franchise. Now is
- 3:33Speaker 3: the time to get them reps because when the Cincinnati
- 3:37Speaker 3: Bengals are on the schedule for Week one and Jacoby
- 3:40Speaker 3: Brissett is starting and Drake May is backing him up,
- 3:42Speaker 3: they're not gonna have time to get Drake May reps
- 3:45Speaker 3: in practice that those reps are gonna have to go
- 3:48Speaker 3: to Jacoby to get him ready to play on Sunday.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Now is the time to get these developmental reps for
- 3:53Speaker 3: these younger guys, and it's not necessarily just about Jacoby Brissett.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I also just don't understand the whole bib of it
- 4:00Speaker 3: is as well. I don't know why Bailey Zappi is
- 4:03Speaker 3: taking up reps in the spring from Drake May. That
- 4:06Speaker 3: makes no sense to me. It makes no sense to
- 4:08Speaker 3: me at tackle, why Vidarien Lowe is taking snaps from
- 4:11Speaker 3: Kaid and Wallace when you're trying to develop this guy
- 4:14Speaker 3: at a different position than what he played in college
- 4:16Speaker 3: and have him flip sides and go over to the
- 4:18Speaker 3: left side and do this whole thing. And this is
- 4:20Speaker 3: what a lot of this is hinges on, is these
- 4:22Speaker 3: players being able to develop and the cream rising to
- 4:25Speaker 3: the to the top. And they have Darien Lowe and
- 4:28Speaker 3: Bailey Zappy taking reps from Drake May and Kadden Wallas.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Didn't care for it.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Okay, that's my opinion, though, yeah, I think it's reasonable
- 4:35Speaker 6: that might not.
- 4:36Speaker 4: I just love the strong take right out of the well.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I just think right now the big thing is about
- 4:41Speaker 3: evaluating their process, because the results are are not the
- 4:46Speaker 3: most important thing right now. It's about evaluating the process.
- 4:49Speaker 3: And I'm just taking in these first few practices of
- 4:52Speaker 3: this regime in this era, wondering what's it gonna what's
- 4:55Speaker 3: practice look like, what drills are you running, what periods
- 4:58Speaker 3: are you doing? And a lot lot of what we
- 5:00Speaker 3: saw yesterday was Drake May standing around and I just
- 5:04Speaker 3: don't see how that. How's that helpful to anybody that
- 5:07Speaker 3: he's just watching Jacoby Brissett and Bailey Zappi take reps
- 5:10Speaker 3: in eleven on eleven's and for ten straight minutes of practice,
- 5:13Speaker 3: he's just standing there.
- 5:14Speaker 10: Who knows.
- 5:14Speaker 9: Maybe my next week, though, the rotation will change after
- 5:17Speaker 9: watching the Vets for this week, because they we saw
- 5:19Speaker 9: them walking out there today. Maybe after watching the Vets
- 5:22Speaker 9: for a week, seeing how they do it, next week
- 5:23Speaker 9: when we watch practice again, maybe the order.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Will be switched.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's what you know Gerard talked about is,
- 5:30Speaker 4: you know, don't get too wrapped up in the individual
- 5:33Speaker 4: number because it's probably going to change and they're going
- 5:35Speaker 4: to end up with the same Now. I think Evan's
- 5:38Speaker 4: point is he doesn't want it to be the same. No,
- 5:40Speaker 4: he wants me to have more right than Zay.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and I also would just say that the order
- 5:44Speaker 3: isn't really what I'm caught up on either, right, it's.
- 5:47Speaker 4: There was too much standing around for May.
- 5:49Speaker 3: There's too much standing around, and you have ninety one
- 5:52Speaker 3: actually because they have the exempt spot, ninety one guys
- 5:55Speaker 3: on the roster. Why aren't we spreading into two fields?
- 5:58Speaker 3: We have two practice fields for so why aren't we
- 6:01Speaker 3: bringing you know, quarterbacks over to this field, con quarterbacks
- 6:06Speaker 3: over to that field. With Belichick, they would have these
- 6:10Speaker 3: moments where they would try to create a game atmosphere
- 6:12Speaker 3: where they'd have everybody on the sidelines and it was
- 6:14Speaker 3: the twenty two guys on the field and everybody else
- 6:17Speaker 3: watching in training camp. I just don't feel like we're
- 6:19Speaker 3: there yet.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Well, we're not a training camp.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Right, And so right now, that's what he's saying.
- 6:23Speaker 3: He doesn't want that everything should just be about getting
- 6:26Speaker 3: the young guys and Drake May specifically as many reps
- 6:30Speaker 3: as possible.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Because he's got a lot of work to do.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll be interested to see how what happens after
- 6:36Speaker 2: this week. Yeah.
- 6:38Speaker 9: Also it would be interesting to see like maybe they
- 6:39Speaker 9: did it that way so that we wouldn't see anything,
- 6:42Speaker 9: Like who knows right now, Drake may could be getting
- 6:44Speaker 9: more reps, right, you never know, maybe maybe they only
- 6:47Speaker 9: wanted us to see the three.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I just have to be I.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Don't want to handle this the new coaching staff with
- 6:52Speaker 3: kid gloves all the time, just because they're new. You know,
- 6:54Speaker 3: like at some point we have to call out when
- 6:57Speaker 3: I you don't agree with things that they do, because
- 6:58Speaker 3: we would have with Bilt if Drake may was standing
- 7:01Speaker 3: there for thirty minutes into practice with Billie would be
- 7:03Speaker 3: saying the same thing. I just if he wasn't such
- 7:07Speaker 3: a raw prospect where there's so many mechanical and footwork
- 7:11Speaker 3: and all this type of stuff that he needs to
- 7:12Speaker 3: work on, now's the time to do it. So him
- 7:15Speaker 3: standing around does nobody any good?
- 7:17Speaker 7: Yeah, Well, to be fair, though, you're talking about like
- 7:19Speaker 7: kind of team periods. I mean they had a large
- 7:21Speaker 7: first part of the period whereas early down work, a
- 7:23Speaker 7: lot of footwork stuff, a lot of you know, working
- 7:26Speaker 7: on the wide zone and then coming off and you know,
- 7:27Speaker 7: having a roll out with a you know, so there
- 7:29Speaker 7: was there was a lot of drill work.
- 7:30Speaker 6: I mean just right, am I right?
- 7:31Speaker 7: Like this kind of the contact StuffYeah like, I mean
- 7:33Speaker 7: he would they were, They were all getting plenty of work,
- 7:34Speaker 7: but it was.
- 7:35Speaker 6: Just you know, team periods. It was Jacoby Jacoby, Jacoby.
- 7:38Speaker 7: Bailey Bailey, you know, and then Drake Mayon And I
- 7:40Speaker 7: don't even think Joe Milton got Initially he.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Got he got a couple of if you want to
- 7:45Speaker 3: call him competitive this time of year type of reps.
- 7:47Speaker 3: But I just think that the biggest takeaway that I
- 7:50Speaker 3: had from it all, and I don't need to come
- 7:52Speaker 3: out so hot with the whole you know, reps and
- 7:54Speaker 3: all that type of stuff.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Do not reel it in.
- 7:56Speaker 3: But the biggest takeaway that I had coming out of
- 7:59Speaker 3: it was it's a lot to have four quarterbacks. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 3: it's a lot to get meaningful practice reps for four
- 8:06Speaker 3: quarterbacks if you're really focused on making it equal, and especially.
- 8:10Speaker 2: When you don't have an established number one. Right, But
- 8:13Speaker 2: we've had four quarterbacks a lot of times.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Right, But this is when you're not.
- 8:17Speaker 2: But now we're trying to develop. So I get it.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I get it.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a little bit of a different for too.
- 8:23Speaker 4: And there's a couple of things about this one. I
- 8:25Speaker 4: thought it was really interesting when Gerard was talking about
- 8:28Speaker 4: the reps and all that stuff and Tomara talked about
- 8:30Speaker 4: how it could change in Mayo did say that. He
- 8:35Speaker 4: also kind of alluded to the fact that he doesn't
- 8:37Speaker 4: think there'll be four at training camp. Yeah, and that
- 8:40Speaker 4: which I think is really interesting.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Who could it possibly be?
- 8:42Speaker 2: You know, I'm just thinking, you know, Drake may you
- 8:44Speaker 2: know chess a little bit, but maybe Zappi's your backup.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Hoping that another team will say.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I think that's when they can trade them and get
- 8:52Speaker 4: some I mean, the most likely candidate to not make
- 8:55Speaker 4: it to training camp would be Zappy, right, And it's
- 8:57Speaker 4: not really a close second. The only eyes, you know,
- 9:00Speaker 4: But I wonder if he's looking at it, you know.
- 9:03Speaker 4: I think I talked about this last week. If you
- 9:07Speaker 4: don't want me to play this year, easy, Okay, I'm
- 9:12Speaker 4: with you. I want him to play. I want him
- 9:14Speaker 4: to play this year. But if if Gerard Mayo and
- 9:18Speaker 4: Elliott Wolf do not want me to play this year,
- 9:21Speaker 4: don't they have to get ZAPPI ready, yes, because if
- 9:24Speaker 4: you you need to have a backup quarterback who can play,
- 9:27Speaker 4: right if you don't want to play may so that
- 9:31Speaker 4: I think there's a dynamic there now. I without seeing
- 9:35Speaker 4: it yesterday, full disclosure, another vacation day, I was not
- 9:41Speaker 4: I was not there. So I'm gonna trust with you guys,
- 9:46Speaker 4: and you guys both know. I don't trust a lot
- 9:48Speaker 4: of recaps that I hear and read from other people.
- 9:51Speaker 4: I trust you guys. If he was standing around a
- 9:54Speaker 4: lot like I do, wonder, you know, to what end?
- 9:58Speaker 6: You know, I think he was just the k He's
- 10:00Speaker 6: across the port though, you know, it wasn't even just
- 10:01Speaker 6: that you know about that, and the same thing with.
- 10:06Speaker 7: Polkan Baker, like they weren't really prominently involved in the
- 10:08Speaker 7: top offense. It was you know, Pop Douglas and Juju
- 10:12Speaker 7: and you know Thornton even those guys were kind of
- 10:14Speaker 7: running with the top. So I, I mean, I totally
- 10:16Speaker 7: hear with Evan saying I'm just gonna reserve worrying too
- 10:19Speaker 7: much about it till next week we start to see,
- 10:20Speaker 7: maybe we see some progress and all of a sudden,
- 10:22Speaker 7: Caden Wallace is maybe the top left hack or he's
- 10:24Speaker 7: you know, the second or you know, Drake may his
- 10:26Speaker 7: leap frog Bailey's appy hopefully, but it's definitely something to
- 10:29Speaker 7: watch for coming up.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely agree with all of you that it's
- 10:33Speaker 3: one practice and we have to wait and see. It's
- 10:36Speaker 3: not so much about getting all worked up about yesterday.
- 10:40Speaker 3: It's more that they can't have four quarterbacks like this.
- 10:44Speaker 3: You can't have when I say they can't have four quarterbacks,
- 10:47Speaker 3: if you're going to create it, treat everybody equally. You
- 10:50Speaker 3: can't have four quarterbacks now if you just want at
- 10:53Speaker 3: some point, Bailey's appy is just kind of an afterthought,
- 10:55Speaker 3: then that's a different story. But yesterday they it seemed
- 10:59Speaker 3: like they were trying him create everything equal and everybody
- 11:02Speaker 3: was going to get some work in and all that
- 11:03Speaker 3: kind of stuff. And to me, it kind of feels
- 11:06Speaker 3: like you're getting no quarterbacks right here.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Like even last year, you know, you had Mac Jones
- 11:11Speaker 4: and Bailey Zappi, then Trace mcsrely and Malik Kinahan really
- 11:15Speaker 4: wasn't the quarterback all spring in summer. So you know,
- 11:19Speaker 4: even last year when you were really unsettled at the position,
- 11:22Speaker 4: they didn't really feel like they could have four guys
- 11:25Speaker 4: getting snaps because they didn't, Yeah, not.
- 11:28Speaker 6: Enough to go around.
- 11:29Speaker 9: Also, do you think they want to take it slow
- 11:31Speaker 9: with Drake May in the sense of getting his mechanics
- 11:34Speaker 9: in line first before you throw him out there. And
- 11:35Speaker 9: he's doing the same old mechanics that he was doing
- 11:38Speaker 9: at U and C versus not redoing what he was
- 11:41Speaker 9: what he's doing, but like kind of fixing it before
- 11:44Speaker 9: you throw them out there in a live drill.
- 11:46Speaker 6: I don't think that's crazy. I mean it's you know,
- 11:47Speaker 6: definitely don't want him.
- 11:48Speaker 7: To just revert into old habits because he's under pressure,
- 11:51Speaker 7: and so I think there might be some truth to that,
- 11:52Speaker 7: but I still err on the side of it's this
- 11:55Speaker 7: first time we've had all these guys out there on
- 11:57Speaker 7: the field.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I think they need to watch.
- 11:59Speaker 2: And I think football there's a certain like, I don't
- 12:02Speaker 2: know what you want to call it, but on our system.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Not respect to the yeah, respect to the veterans.
- 12:08Speaker 2: So this is the first day we're on the field.
- 12:11Speaker 2: These are the guys at the veterans. They're going to
- 12:13Speaker 2: get the first reps and we'll go from there.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Weren't we supposed to be over that, No, not not yet.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I think we are, though, because that was what he
- 12:21Speaker 3: would do. That's what Bill would do. Bill would give no.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I think that's what every head coach does.
- 12:25Speaker 4: And I don't agree.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I don't think if you go watch a training camp
- 12:28Speaker 3: practice in Green Bay, who are known for playing the
- 12:31Speaker 3: younger guys in their system, that they would be forcing
- 12:34Speaker 3: a guy that's really a backup quarterback in the league
- 12:37Speaker 3: like Bailey ZAPPI over Jordan Love, Like, I don't you know,
- 12:40Speaker 3: I'm not talking about Jordan Love now.
- 12:41Speaker 2: When he was first right. I disagree. I think that
- 12:45Speaker 2: at least at the beginning, you know, the guys that
- 12:48Speaker 2: have been on the team, get the first reps and
- 12:50Speaker 2: then we we start to change that.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, I don't care, so matter. What did you
- 12:54Speaker 4: just start to say because I think I agree with you?
- 12:56Speaker 4: Did you just say something about Jayden Daniels.
- 12:58Speaker 6: I love Pepperoni pizza.
- 12:59Speaker 4: I thought you start to say something about, you know,
- 13:01Speaker 4: like because Jayden Daniel's not getting the number one reps
- 13:03Speaker 4: right now, or Caleb who's already been forget about cayleb Wins.
- 13:06Speaker 4: They officially named him the starter, but like, I feel
- 13:09Speaker 4: like there's not like if you have a starter, like
- 13:13Speaker 4: you know, Jordan Love was backup to Aaron Rodgers like that,
- 13:17Speaker 4: no one would argue with that, but Jordan Rodgers. I mean,
- 13:20Speaker 4: Jordan Love wouldn't be taking backup reps if the best
- 13:23Speaker 4: quarterback that they had was you know whatever that what's
- 13:27Speaker 4: that guy's name that I can't even think of his
- 13:29Speaker 4: name now, benk Kurt or something like that, you know,
- 13:31Speaker 4: oh yeah, oh Clifford Clifford from Penn State was the
- 13:35Speaker 4: backup last year. Like Clifford was there longer, but he
- 13:38Speaker 4: you know, even though he wasn't there, And you know
- 13:40Speaker 4: my point, Yeah, I think if you don't have an
- 13:42Speaker 4: established starter, you could do whatever you want. I think
- 13:46Speaker 4: Bill has done that a lot with offensive lineman like
- 13:50Speaker 4: Dan Skipper will be manning the spot until he proves
- 13:52Speaker 4: that he can't do can't do it. Yadney could just
- 13:55Speaker 4: has done it, you know, and then you know, you
- 13:57Speaker 4: let him play a couple of days. Then it's like, Okay,
- 14:00Speaker 4: the rookie that we just drafted is definitely better than him.
- 14:02Speaker 4: What's moving there?
- 14:03Speaker 10: So what do you think?
- 14:04Speaker 9: I have not looked at their Twitter, so I have
- 14:05Speaker 9: no idea what's happening in broncos Land. But is Zach Wilson?
- 14:10Speaker 9: I assume that Zach Wilson is getting the first rep,
- 14:12Speaker 9: and then it's JJ McCarthy.
- 14:14Speaker 2: And not well, I don't know, he's new to the team,
- 14:18Speaker 2: you know.
- 14:18Speaker 4: So my guess is actually Jared Stidham is probably getting
- 14:21Speaker 4: the number one reps. Right, So the kind of prove
- 14:24Speaker 4: the point like when you don't have a guy, right,
- 14:26Speaker 4: you go with the veteran.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Yeah, a little bit to the point. It's not exactly
- 14:29Speaker 6: the same.
- 14:29Speaker 7: But I noticed yesterday some of the top eleven eleven
- 14:31Speaker 7: reps you had Marco Wilson and Alex Austin out at cornerback.
- 14:34Speaker 7: So that was one of those situations where it's like, wait,
- 14:37Speaker 7: where did Gonzales and Jay Jones go? So that was
- 14:39Speaker 7: one moment where it looked like a couple of younger
- 14:41Speaker 7: guys were getting in there, which I thought was interesting
- 14:44Speaker 7: just defense wise, like they need another cornerback. Also saw
- 14:47Speaker 7: Isaiah Bolden the slot a little bit, which is kind
- 14:49Speaker 7: of interesting to me. Not really the body type you
- 14:50Speaker 7: would think in there. I think we saw him outside
- 14:52Speaker 7: all last year. But I just looking at the cornerback class.
- 14:56Speaker 7: Not to get off topic, but it seems like they
- 14:58Speaker 7: understand they have some questions there with a third corner
- 15:00Speaker 7: and in the slot as to how that's all going
- 15:01Speaker 7: to work.
- 15:02Speaker 6: But one of those guys you.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Get a opportunity that I like because we know what
- 15:05Speaker 3: we have with Christian Gonzalez and Jonathan Jones, Like those
- 15:08Speaker 3: guys don't need to take reps in May, like we'll
- 15:10Speaker 3: see you in week one. Like with the quarterbacks, it's
- 15:14Speaker 3: the same thing, like we know what Bailey Zappi is
- 15:17Speaker 3: and what is like should this team Bailey Zappi is
- 15:20Speaker 3: not the present or the future. He's just kind of here.
- 15:24Speaker 3: And so Jacoby said, if you're giving him the reps.
- 15:26Speaker 3: At least I can justify that by saying, well, he's
- 15:29Speaker 3: going to be starting, so he's getting the starter reps.
- 15:32Speaker 3: If you give him to Drake may I, that makes
- 15:34Speaker 3: a lot more sense. You give him even to Joe Milton,
- 15:36Speaker 3: that makes it.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I think they're all trying to They all need to
- 15:39Speaker 2: learn the a VP system, So I mean, they're all
- 15:44Speaker 2: let's just give us some time. I'm not jumping to
- 15:46Speaker 2: any conclusions yet.
- 15:48Speaker 9: It's giving like new person hired, shadow this person for
- 15:51Speaker 9: a few days, and then it's yours.
- 15:53Speaker 6: That's what I'd say.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Another another big takeaway, It was just Fromondra Stevenson completely
- 15:57Speaker 7: back in the mix and heavily involved in all aspects,
- 16:00Speaker 7: kind of like he saw last summer where it was
- 16:01Speaker 7: like Jesus, this is all they got is reminder right now.
- 16:04Speaker 7: Not to say that's the point I'm trying to make,
- 16:05Speaker 7: but I just felt like, man, he's back. He looks
- 16:08Speaker 7: like he's ready to go right now. So it's a
- 16:10Speaker 7: good a really good sign for him. And and even
- 16:13Speaker 7: what's his face, I have just blanking his name, Gibson.
- 16:15Speaker 7: Gibson really involved too, really quick. I mean, those two
- 16:18Speaker 7: guys seem like I don't know what happens after those two,
- 16:20Speaker 7: but both of those guys.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Are pretty Yeah, sound weird.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I sound a little like I can.
- 16:26Speaker 3: That sounds a little weird in my Yeah, okay, not
- 16:28Speaker 3: just you, like everybody, everybody. Yeah, Antonio Gibson, I would say,
- 16:33Speaker 3: is is somebody that was very heavily involved and obviously
- 16:35Speaker 3: you would expect him to be involved in the passing game,
- 16:37Speaker 3: which he was, and who got a lot of targets
- 16:40Speaker 3: in some of the passing game work that they did,
- 16:42Speaker 3: and looked a part. You know, this is one of
- 16:44Speaker 3: those times of years where the guys like skill players
- 16:47Speaker 3: like that should flash, you know, a little bit of speed,
- 16:50Speaker 3: a little bit of separation ability, and I thought that
- 16:53Speaker 3: he looked good.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Yeah. Who else, Well, let's talk about first Hooper, who
- 16:59Speaker 2: wasn't there?
- 17:00Speaker 6: Yeah, so who wasn't there?
- 17:01Speaker 7: Matt Judon what they talked about and said, you know,
- 17:03Speaker 7: in the past, he's been in and out. He's been
- 17:05Speaker 7: in and out again. According to Mayo, Anthony Jennings, who
- 17:08Speaker 7: a little bit surprised there. I don't know, he just
- 17:10Speaker 7: just signed a contract, felt like he would have been there.
- 17:12Speaker 7: Tavai wasn't dressed but he was there. Looks like he's
- 17:15Speaker 7: rehabing something not there. I think somebody told me he
- 17:17Speaker 7: had like a sister graduation. Was that you Yeah, yeah,
- 17:20Speaker 7: so but then Devon gotcha. That's kind of an interesting
- 17:24Speaker 7: one too. I think all our radars are up on him.
- 17:26Speaker 7: Wanted to the last year his deal, you know, without
- 17:28Speaker 7: Lawrence s Guy and him, like, you know, two big
- 17:30Speaker 7: pieces that have been kind of the corrier defensive line.
- 17:33Speaker 7: So curious what's up there. Not much depth behind him
- 17:36Speaker 7: for sure, and of course cold strange the news came
- 17:38Speaker 7: out today that it sounds like he's going to be out.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Of commission for a while. Yes, substantial.
- 17:42Speaker 4: I'm surprised that that was news today.
- 17:44Speaker 6: Like he Ian Rappaport just coming.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Significantly injured himself on like December eighteenth. Yeah, like I
- 17:51Speaker 4: didn't anticipate him being ready to go like in spring
- 17:54Speaker 4: OTAs well.
- 17:56Speaker 3: It sounds like he's not gonna be ready to go
- 17:57Speaker 3: to start the season. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at
- 17:59Speaker 3: all if he's Hey, they expected.
- 18:01Speaker 7: That, and I just wonder if they should have shut
- 18:04Speaker 7: him down when he first got hurt, like three minutes
- 18:06Speaker 7: after Pads came on last summer, and then they were
- 18:08Speaker 7: you know, he was trying to go, and then he
- 18:10Speaker 7: was in and out of the lineup, and then it
- 18:12Speaker 7: seemed like almost it finally just gave way. I had
- 18:15Speaker 7: to look up the thing though, means Chris Jones just
- 18:17Speaker 7: absolutely pushed him back. I mean his knee just buckled.
- 18:21Speaker 7: So's I wonder if he's got Chris.
- 18:24Speaker 9: I mean, to be honest, he probably was gonna get
- 18:26Speaker 9: beat out anyways.
- 18:28Speaker 7: I mean, it's it's, it's it's a really interesting thing.
- 18:30Speaker 7: I mean, I was just like those pup guys. Even
- 18:32Speaker 7: if it is a guy like hold Strange where you
- 18:34Speaker 7: just have like six weeks in, you're gonna get you know,
- 18:36Speaker 7: somebody back and enforce them some kind of reinforcement. But
- 18:38Speaker 7: not that there's a lot to really trumpet there. But
- 18:41Speaker 7: Nick Leverett was you know, Nicka Leverett and city So
- 18:44Speaker 7: were the top two.
- 18:45Speaker 4: See that. That's another example of what Fred's talking about.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Really you have a lot of options, but you take
- 18:51Speaker 4: the veteran.
- 18:52Speaker 6: Guy, ye and you.
- 18:54Speaker 4: You plug him in until he proves that Mafi's better
- 18:57Speaker 4: than him, or Jake Andrews is better than him, or
- 18:59Speaker 4: Leyden Robinson better than him.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yep, you know whoever. But even like back to your
- 19:03Speaker 2: high school days, wasn't that the way it was the
- 19:05Speaker 2: first days of practice, like the seniors or whatever, they
- 19:09Speaker 2: guys who have been on the team, and then eventually
- 19:11Speaker 2: the freshman emerges, the guy that's gonna beat out somebody.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You know, they always start out with the guys who
- 19:17Speaker 2: know what they're doing.
- 19:18Speaker 4: It's a little different.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I'm off for that to an extent. And I hear
- 19:22Speaker 3: what you're saying, but I think there's such a finite
- 19:24Speaker 3: amount of practice time in the NFL nowadays, where like
- 19:27Speaker 3: there's just only so many reps and this we know
- 19:30Speaker 3: about is so crazy nowadays that they can only be
- 19:33Speaker 3: out there for certain periods of time and all this
- 19:35Speaker 3: kind of stuff. And at quarterback specifically, it's just a
- 19:39Speaker 3: really difficult position to develop and you need reps, like
- 19:42Speaker 3: you just need live football reps, even this time of year.
- 19:46Speaker 3: And so, yes, like I understand their seniority, and I
- 19:50Speaker 3: agree that that's how teams usually work. You know that
- 19:53Speaker 3: the senior will get it. That's what happened to Drake
- 19:54Speaker 3: May and high school is that they had the upper
- 19:56Speaker 3: classmen throughout a you know, fall camp was starting over
- 20:00Speaker 3: him and then they got a couple of weeks out
- 20:01Speaker 3: to the season and the coach was like, we're gonna,
- 20:03Speaker 3: We're gonna go with with Drake, you know, but it
- 20:06Speaker 3: just eventually they need to get these guys volume of reps.
- 20:10Speaker 3: It's not just about order or anything like that.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Yeah, let's hope they do anything else. Any other notes
- 20:18Speaker 2: that you took from yesterday.
- 20:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I don't know how I mean the
- 20:21Speaker 7: things that are interesting to me, I don't know if
- 20:23Speaker 7: they're interesting to anybody else. But you know, I think
- 20:25Speaker 7: Taki Taki and Joe Giles Harris and Christian Ellis, those
- 20:29Speaker 7: guys are you know, we're around last year, but with
- 20:31Speaker 7: all the departures of you know, Matthew Slater obviously, but
- 20:35Speaker 7: you know, Cody Davis and Chris Board, you know, they
- 20:38Speaker 7: had some need and so I think that kind of
- 20:40Speaker 7: like ray Quon McMillan, those secondary linebacker group, those guys,
- 20:44Speaker 7: especially Taki Taki. I think Taki Taki will be involved
- 20:46Speaker 7: on the defense this year. It seems like he's more
- 20:49Speaker 7: of an inside outside guy that they kind of like,
- 20:51Speaker 7: so a little bit more edge depth.
- 20:52Speaker 6: But without U. J.
- 20:53Speaker 7: Jennings and Jude on there, it kind of was glaring
- 20:55Speaker 7: of you know, hopefully these guys don't get hurt because
- 20:58Speaker 7: after that it's just to drop off. And you know,
- 21:00Speaker 7: you see Kem White there a little bit. I thought
- 21:02Speaker 7: enjoyed hearing from him yesterday. He seemed different. He seemed
- 21:04Speaker 7: like a different guy, talkative, just more talk personable, more personable.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Wasn't just like staring you down like he was. Was
- 21:12Speaker 7: bouth side a little bit a little bit, yeah, yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 7: not not a lot of uh talk he was on
- 21:19Speaker 7: the other side.
- 21:19Speaker 6: Yeah, me too.
- 21:20Speaker 7: I do think I saw him a little bit though
- 21:22Speaker 7: down you know, like right defensive end, hand down kind
- 21:24Speaker 7: of stuff too. But yeah, it's just that that that
- 21:27Speaker 7: was kind of glaring to me. Of course, those guys
- 21:29Speaker 7: are are all three key players, but it's just again,
- 21:31Speaker 7: like I just there's not much depth there. And as
- 21:33Speaker 7: soon as Judong gets hurt, it's or leaves, you know,
- 21:36Speaker 7: it changes things significantly on the defense.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Do we should talk about the offensive line, which right now,
- 21:43Speaker 3: you know, speaking to chokes the corps four after practice
- 21:45Speaker 3: was not what I would.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Call confidence inspiring. Yeah inspiring, you know.
- 21:50Speaker 3: He he flat out said it's going to be a
- 21:52Speaker 3: transition period for him, and he said that in Pittsburgh.
- 21:55Speaker 3: He signed there, you know, back there with the initial
- 21:58Speaker 3: extension to play right tackle, and he was drafted as
- 22:01Speaker 3: a right tackle then played, so he didn't do any
- 22:04Speaker 3: cross training. He didn't start like he was training to
- 22:06Speaker 3: be a right tackle in Pittsburgh all year round. So
- 22:10Speaker 3: he talked about that he doesn't even really know if
- 22:12Speaker 3: he can do it yet and we won't see until
- 22:14Speaker 3: the pads come on in July and August if he
- 22:18Speaker 3: feels comfortable actually playing in the game on the left side.
- 22:22Speaker 3: So that was worrisome. Then you have this whole coold
- 22:24Speaker 3: strange of it all. And so they were a corps
- 22:28Speaker 3: for citysow at left guard. David Andrews Leverett was the
- 22:35Speaker 3: line and it was obviously not a live situation with pads.
- 22:40Speaker 3: So I'm not going to grade them have the performed
- 22:43Speaker 3: in the practice, but just in general hearing from some
- 22:45Speaker 3: of the guys afterwards, uh, there's there's some uncertainty.
- 22:49Speaker 2: There's a lot of work in progress.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 9: Also, speaking of podiums, Juju claims that he was at
- 22:54Speaker 9: sixty percent last year, okay, and which is funny because
- 23:01Speaker 9: he got so angry when Karen's article, Like when Karen
- 23:04Speaker 9: asked him about, you know, allegedly your knee could explode
- 23:07Speaker 9: it any second, and he pushed back on that so
- 23:09Speaker 9: much last year to now come out this year and
- 23:12Speaker 9: say I never hit one hundred percent.
- 23:14Speaker 10: I was at sixty percent.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Who was at last year? I know nobody is, but
- 23:19Speaker 2: you always heard yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 9: But and then now he says, like, after not doing
- 23:22Speaker 9: anything off season watching Bridgerton, like, I'm at one hundred
- 23:25Speaker 9: percent right now.
- 23:26Speaker 6: Okay, I don't know, man, I don't know about your
- 23:29Speaker 6: talk is cheap. And then he's like, I don't really
- 23:31Speaker 6: care for Bridgerton Walking.
- 23:33Speaker 7: Away from the podium, then he's like, y'all got to
- 23:35Speaker 7: see the locker room two.
- 23:36Speaker 6: It's way better vibes.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just like, can we not?
- 23:40Speaker 6: Can we not? Can we not?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 23:43Speaker 7: I don't know about the juju on. This not what
- 23:47Speaker 7: I'm looking for this year. But I thought Douglas looked
- 23:50Speaker 7: pretty good though. I mean, he seems like he's, you know,
- 23:52Speaker 7: picked up where he left off.
- 23:53Speaker 10: And would you think of Taekwon not doing it?
- 23:57Speaker 6: He had to take him that No?
- 23:59Speaker 9: No?
- 23:59Speaker 6: And I was I mean, was that mean?
- 24:00Speaker 4: He looked good? Yesterday?
- 24:01Speaker 3: He had one catch and Team Girls which is probably
- 24:03Speaker 3: the best downfield player of the day on a little
- 24:07Speaker 3: post corner route but not fall for it.
- 24:10Speaker 7: I thought, I don't know if you remember this throw out,
- 24:12Speaker 7: and this was a pall throw It was just like
- 24:14Speaker 7: it was may On like a quick out to Baker and.
- 24:17Speaker 6: He just gunned it. And it was like, yeah, that's
- 24:20Speaker 6: the throat. Yeah that's the throat.
- 24:21Speaker 3: A little backside pressure there too, Yeah, little blitz coming
- 24:24Speaker 3: off the right side. Seemed like they just wanted to
- 24:26Speaker 3: test him with that a little bit, see how he
- 24:28Speaker 3: reacted to it through a good zip.
- 24:30Speaker 7: It was I like Baker though, I mean, he's the
- 24:32Speaker 7: first practice I was kind of captured by Polk just
- 24:34Speaker 7: his professionalism. He just seems like, you know, it seems
- 24:38Speaker 7: like he's comfortable. But there's there's some movement skills with
- 24:40Speaker 7: Baker that I think are a little bit unique. And
- 24:42Speaker 7: you know, they were doing this drill where very simple
- 24:44Speaker 7: warm up drill, not not too much to read into,
- 24:46Speaker 7: but it was, you know, two receivers at once and
- 24:48Speaker 7: the coaches on the side in the middle, and you know,
- 24:49Speaker 7: they just would throwing little routes at warm ups. But
- 24:52Speaker 7: it was just a comparison to see how these guys
- 24:54Speaker 7: kind of move differently, and you know, I remember seeing
- 24:56Speaker 7: him go against Thornton, which you just see these long
- 24:59Speaker 7: legs with Thornton and it you know, it just it
- 25:01Speaker 7: takes a while. And Baker's he's got shiftiness, He's got
- 25:05Speaker 7: some you know, horizontal agility. I think that is interesting.
- 25:08Speaker 7: And he also just when he runs, he's accelerating, accelerating, accelerating.
- 25:12Speaker 7: You know, you just you kind of feel like he
- 25:14Speaker 7: it's not Pachaco, but that kind of feel to it
- 25:17Speaker 7: of every step he takes, he feels like he's you know,
- 25:20Speaker 7: accelerating off of that. So Baker kind of caught my
- 25:23Speaker 7: eye little bit yesterday just with some of his movement skills.
- 25:25Speaker 7: He had, you know, a couple of couple of nice catches,
- 25:27Speaker 7: I think, get a couple of drops to which which
- 25:29Speaker 7: a lot of guy poll cab one too. I mean,
- 25:30Speaker 7: it's you know what happens, but but no, I'm I
- 25:35Speaker 7: just I just also feel like when we get to
- 25:37Speaker 7: these things, it's people are trying to fill the narratives
- 25:40Speaker 7: and are going off of the buzzwords that we've been
- 25:43Speaker 7: talking about for years, and it's like, do you.
- 25:45Speaker 6: Guys realize what we're watching like, I like, did you
- 25:48Speaker 6: play sports? Do you know?
- 25:50Speaker 4: Like in the middle of the mo Mike went with it,
- 25:51Speaker 4: did you play sports like come back, spit and fire
- 25:57Speaker 4: like playing spring.
- 25:58Speaker 6: Hockey and then being like, we do s got a
- 26:00Speaker 6: lot to work on. I never play.
- 26:02Speaker 9: It's literally giving like walkthrough with like a little bit
- 26:05Speaker 9: more speed.
- 26:06Speaker 6: I said to Evan because Evan was complaining.
- 26:07Speaker 7: Someone was like, the receivers look like they couldn't separate,
- 26:10Speaker 7: And I was like, did.
- 26:11Speaker 6: He hear the part where the coach was saying let
- 26:13Speaker 6: him catch it? They're yelling let him catch it? Right now?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Like we are not doing anything competitive right And that's
- 26:19Speaker 3: why I said process over results right now, because I'm
- 26:22Speaker 3: not concerned about separation for receivers yet, Like obviously we
- 26:26Speaker 3: know that that's a big picture concern that could be
- 26:28Speaker 3: an issue for this team, but right now, that's not what.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I'm not grading anybody off of these practices of like
- 26:34Speaker 3: their success or failure on plays. I just to me,
- 26:38Speaker 3: right now, it's about the operation, Like what's his coaching
- 26:40Speaker 3: staff doing, you know, who's what's Mayo doing?
- 26:43Speaker 4: You know on a you know, where is he going?
- 26:45Speaker 3: Where is his attention at you know, what's Alex Van
- 26:47Speaker 3: Pelt's practice look like?
- 26:50Speaker 4: Like we've watched Bill Bellipichick practice, so.
- 26:53Speaker 2: To that point, you know, in looking at the practice,
- 26:57Speaker 2: how do you think it looked like from an organizational
- 26:59Speaker 2: state point?
- 27:00Speaker 4: I don't.
- 27:01Speaker 3: That's why I That's why I came out so hot
- 27:03Speaker 3: with what I came out with. It's not about like
- 27:04Speaker 3: reps and all that, It's just the efficiency of practice.
- 27:09Speaker 3: It was always something that stood out with Bill Belichick.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Yep.
- 27:12Speaker 4: There was never.
- 27:14Speaker 3: A pause, like there was never like wasted time in
- 27:18Speaker 3: a Bill Belichick practice. He always had people doing stuff,
- 27:22Speaker 3: and it felt like in this practice it got bogged
- 27:26Speaker 3: down a little bit where there was just a lot
- 27:27Speaker 3: of standing around for guys.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Now, that is something Fred, I'm going to be on
- 27:31Speaker 4: your side with. I can understand there being periods like
- 27:36Speaker 4: that where it's not quite you know sharp, you know,
- 27:41Speaker 4: like not everything is ending when it's supposed to end.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Like maybe Mike is running a drill and he's done
- 27:47Speaker 4: and Evans drill needs two or three more reps before
- 27:50Speaker 4: they're done. Whereas under Bill that was almost like clockwork,
- 27:55Speaker 4: like everybody was always done at the same time, and
- 27:58Speaker 4: that horn blue and everybody was off to the next place.
- 28:02Speaker 4: I had heard again, wasn't there. I had heard that
- 28:05Speaker 4: there was a period yesterday that at one point one
- 28:08Speaker 4: of the coaches yelled over to Girod saying, we're done.
- 28:11Speaker 4: What do we do?
- 28:13Speaker 8: You know?
- 28:14Speaker 4: On the service? Not great, but also at the same time,
- 28:18Speaker 4: not like way unexpected, you know, with a guy running
- 28:23Speaker 4: his first reel with a lot of teams and ninety players,
- 28:27Speaker 4: you know, let's just call it eighty players on the fields.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Never never done it before. There's gonna be.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Some And that's sort of where I'm coming from, is
- 28:36Speaker 3: That's what I'm looking at right now, is how is
- 28:39Speaker 3: practice run? You know, what is going? What are the
- 28:42Speaker 3: drills that they're running? Because they're running diferent drills, you know,
- 28:44Speaker 3: they're doing different like even positional drills. Obviously eleven on
- 28:47Speaker 3: eleven's eleven on eleven. But I'm more talking about individuals
- 28:51Speaker 3: and stuff like that. These are not the same drills
- 28:53Speaker 3: that we've been watching for the last.
- 28:55Speaker 4: It sounds my blogservations could have some fresh, fresh perspective film.
- 29:00Speaker 7: It's definitely different. I mean, it's interesting, just in a
- 29:02Speaker 7: comparent contrast kind of. I mean, this is Bill Belichick's
- 29:04Speaker 7: practice doing with practices i've ever watched, so me too.
- 29:07Speaker 7: You don't have a lot to compare to, but I
- 29:09Speaker 7: think it's a really good observation by Evan, just the
- 29:12Speaker 7: different I don't know if it's a negative yet, but it's.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Not necessarily a negative. I just think that they That
- 29:18Speaker 3: was what always stood out to me with a Belichick practice,
- 29:21Speaker 3: and when we go to joint practices too, it was
- 29:23Speaker 3: always what the players on the other teams would talk about, like,
- 29:25Speaker 3: ye dang, the Patriots are no wasted time and they
- 29:29Speaker 3: are just everything is, you know, from planned and to
- 29:33Speaker 3: the minute to the second. And I think that that's
- 29:36Speaker 3: something I was reading Badard Observations and he's covered some
- 29:41Speaker 3: other coaching staffs and this was the West Coast teams
- 29:45Speaker 3: and stuff like that, and one of the points that
- 29:47Speaker 3: he made was that West coach offensive coaches love reps
- 29:51Speaker 3: like they will just force like they just want their
- 29:54Speaker 3: starting guys to get like as many reps as possible
- 29:57Speaker 3: in the practice, which can lead to a lot of
- 30:00Speaker 3: standing around for everybody else. And I think that that's
- 30:02Speaker 3: something that they have to find a better balance with.
- 30:05Speaker 7: I think I've really enjoyed watching the quarterbacks just because
- 30:07Speaker 7: you really see how they're building from the ground up,
- 30:10Speaker 7: and I mean it's certainly a contrast from two years ago,
- 30:12Speaker 7: you know, but you can see the plan and I mean,
- 30:14Speaker 7: I so much work on footwork and I don't think
- 30:16Speaker 7: that that's directly related to Drake May, but I think
- 30:18Speaker 7: it certainly helps that they're that they're spending that much
- 30:21Speaker 7: time on it. But it's it's it's interesting. It seems
- 30:24Speaker 7: like Alex Van Pelton knows what he's looking for, has
- 30:25Speaker 7: a plan, and you know, he is trying to put
- 30:27Speaker 7: that all place.
- 30:27Speaker 3: That I definitely was a positive that I had is that,
- 30:31Speaker 3: you know, the bag drills and the stuff that they
- 30:32Speaker 3: were doing with the quarterbacks and and things like that,
- 30:34Speaker 3: there's a purpose to it. There's a rhyme and reason
- 30:37Speaker 3: to it. You can see the drills and on game
- 30:39Speaker 3: tape and you know, kind of projecting it to a game,
- 30:42Speaker 3: there was you know, they were calling out like you know,
- 30:44Speaker 3: you throw this target mid rep and trying to get
- 30:47Speaker 3: them quarterbacks to have to sort of react on the
- 30:49Speaker 3: spot to where they wanted them to.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Throw the ball. So those those drills I think were
- 30:54Speaker 4: really good.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, in terms of the quarterbacks, I did
- 30:59Speaker 2: notice set little loop in Drake May's delivery. So wait,
- 31:02Speaker 2: what is it?
- 31:03Speaker 6: I can't I can't see.
- 31:04Speaker 2: It's like sort of you know, waist high, not the shoulders, No,
- 31:08Speaker 2: like he loops the ball.
- 31:11Speaker 3: So there's gonna be a lot of like debates on
- 31:15Speaker 3: what side of the fence you fall on on some
- 31:17Speaker 3: of these things. Some people don't care about the dip.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Some people care about the dip, like and I say people,
- 31:23Speaker 3: I mean like quarterback coaches, like people that actually get
- 31:25Speaker 3: paid to do this, right, Some people care if you'd
- 31:28Speaker 3: have the little dip. Some people don't, you know. The
- 31:31Speaker 3: other thing that I noticed with him is that the
- 31:34Speaker 3: level or even shoulders when he throws the ball. Sometimes
- 31:37Speaker 3: he'll tilt back a little bit when he throws the football.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Some people that bothers them because it has an upward
- 31:43Speaker 3: trajectory on the ball. Right, it puts an upward trajectory
- 31:45Speaker 3: on the ball. Other people don't really think it matters
- 31:48Speaker 3: all that much. It's sort of just a field thing.
- 31:50Speaker 3: And when you're comfortable with I always go by Brady
- 31:53Speaker 3: because he, to me, is the most mechanically sound quarterback
- 31:55Speaker 3: of all that. And he was an even shoulders guy
- 31:59Speaker 3: when he.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Threw the ball.
- 32:00Speaker 3: He was driving through the ball with even shoulders. He
- 32:02Speaker 3: wasn't tilting backwards to generate velocity. I don't think Drake
- 32:06Speaker 3: May needs to tilt backwards because I think he has
- 32:08Speaker 3: the arm talent to just drive the football. So those
- 32:10Speaker 3: are little things, you know, the shoulder shrug. It didn't
- 32:13Speaker 3: happen as much yesterday. I didn't feel like as ricky minicamps,
- 32:16Speaker 3: and maybe there's some improvement there. But these are all
- 32:19Speaker 3: little things that they're either going to have to decide
- 32:22Speaker 3: are important or not important when you start tweaking with everything,
- 32:25Speaker 3: and that's going to be interesting to see where they
- 32:26Speaker 3: go with all this.
- 32:27Speaker 6: It's a funny thing. We never talked about a lot
- 32:28Speaker 6: of the stuff with Mac.
- 32:29Speaker 7: I mean maybe I'm misremembering it, but like for a
- 32:31Speaker 7: rookie quarterback, and obviously Drake May's got some footwork issues
- 32:34Speaker 7: that people are talking about little shoulder.
- 32:36Speaker 2: As much as we get on Mac. Other than like
- 32:38Speaker 2: not having you know, a greade a arm, he was
- 32:41Speaker 2: pretty mechanically sound.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it goes back to what you mentioned.
- 32:45Speaker 4: I think you go out and watch these things and
- 32:47Speaker 4: you have a preconceived notion and you evaluate the players
- 32:51Speaker 4: based off of what you think of them going in,
- 32:54Speaker 4: and Mac going in was considered the most NFL ready guy.
- 32:58Speaker 4: He can do all these things and he can plug
- 33:00Speaker 4: and play. So everybody's like, oh, yeah, look at him
- 33:03Speaker 4: standing in the pocket throwing the ball, whereas Drake May
- 33:06Speaker 4: is this project who's got it? Yeah, now everybody's focusing
- 33:11Speaker 4: on footwork. No one ever focused on mac Jones' footwork.
- 33:14Speaker 4: He couldn't move, but everybody, but no one focused on
- 33:17Speaker 4: it because because he was mechanically sound and he was
- 33:21Speaker 4: I agree with Fred. I think mac Jones was for
- 33:24Speaker 4: the most part pretty mechanically sound. You know, Fred who
- 33:28Speaker 4: was the quarterback who had the most noticeable shoulder tilt
- 33:32Speaker 4: and his throwing Oh for the Patriots, no, in general,
- 33:40Speaker 4: Drew Brees through everything, you know what I'm talking about.
- 33:44Speaker 3: That's example, right, that's a great example.
- 33:47Speaker 4: He's he was smaller and didn't have a cand.
- 33:50Speaker 2: He just off the ball, but it would be perfectly placed.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Right, So with Drake May, he shouldn't have to do that.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Drew Brees might have done that.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Sure that he did.
- 33:59Speaker 3: And so those are little things that you just noticed
- 34:01Speaker 3: when you want you know, he's got a longer wind
- 34:04Speaker 3: up that that's definitely true, that they're gonna have to
- 34:07Speaker 3: tighten up, and these little mechanical things like it's finicky.
- 34:12Speaker 3: You know, if you start playing with all of it,
- 34:14Speaker 3: then if it's.
- 34:15Speaker 4: A slow release, that's something that needs to be addressed.
- 34:18Speaker 4: But that's to Evan's point. You have to put it
- 34:21Speaker 4: on a sheet. You know, these are the ten things
- 34:24Speaker 4: that we we noticed. We got to pick five of
- 34:26Speaker 4: them that are really important because if we you can't
- 34:29Speaker 4: fix ten things. Yeah, I'm just using a number. I'm
- 34:32Speaker 4: not saying that he's making him out to be a
- 34:35Speaker 4: train wreck. He's got ten things he needs to improve on.
- 34:37Speaker 4: You know, you got to figure out can you do
- 34:39Speaker 4: this and he'll be okay? But this one, you know,
- 34:43Speaker 4: if you have a slow release, that can't be okay,
- 34:46Speaker 4: that needs to get tightened up. Did you that's gonna
- 34:49Speaker 4: that's gonna hurt him. Because the windows are so much
- 34:52Speaker 4: smaller in the NFL, the time to get the ball
- 34:54Speaker 4: there is so much quicker. You gotta be quicker.
- 34:57Speaker 7: Yea, did you guys clock Brady's mechanics up here?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Carry it up here, get ready to release?
- 35:02Speaker 4: Brady mechanically was like.
- 35:05Speaker 6: That something that hits.
- 35:06Speaker 4: You whenever talks about that statuette, like he had this
- 35:09Speaker 4: thing that I think sort of developed after you know,
- 35:13Speaker 4: Tom Martinez was his original coach and he passed away,
- 35:17Speaker 4: and I think he ended up going with Tom House,
- 35:19Speaker 4: and I thought there was a noticeable change, you know,
- 35:22Speaker 4: the whole Remember the towel underneath Fred. Yeah, you know
- 35:24Speaker 4: he would come around and if you watch him throw
- 35:28Speaker 4: some of the clips that they would play in the Dynasty,
- 35:30Speaker 4: that just showed him. It was like, this is how
- 35:34Speaker 4: you make a training video. It's like Tom Amanski's you know,
- 35:37Speaker 4: baseball videos. These were like perfect mechanics and he would
- 35:42Speaker 4: drive the ball that I always said from the day
- 35:44Speaker 4: he stepped on the field, his arm strength was far
- 35:47Speaker 4: greater than it was ever given credit for coming out
- 35:49Speaker 4: of college. No one ever talked about his arm strength
- 35:52Speaker 4: once he was in the pros, but everybody was like,
- 35:55Speaker 4: kind of a questionable arm. No, he didn't. He didn't
- 35:56Speaker 4: have a questionable arm the day he walked onto the field.
- 36:00Speaker 4: His arm was NFL caliber. But the mechanics did change,
- 36:05Speaker 4: and I just think he was like perfectly balanced. I
- 36:08Speaker 4: think he put a lot of effort into that, and
- 36:10Speaker 4: it's probably with Alex too. It's probably part of that
- 36:12Speaker 4: transition to Alex, you know, midway through his career. Yeah,
- 36:16Speaker 4: that Barth not Francis's been told version we should say
- 36:21Speaker 4: last names of people. Yeah, we should. And actually that's
- 36:24Speaker 4: a who Kyle. That's a pet Peeve who Kyle Kyle Who?
- 36:30Speaker 2: Well listen. If you want to see Toyota's best offers,
- 36:33Speaker 2: including those not seen on TV, go to buy at
- 36:35Speaker 2: toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for deals from
- 36:39Speaker 2: the official vehicle of the New England Patriots, Toyota. Let's
- 36:43Speaker 2: go to practice. You know, yesterday was a beautiful day.
- 36:45Speaker 6: It was.
- 36:46Speaker 2: It wouldn't have been good for some cold bud Light.
- 36:49Speaker 2: You know why, because it's easy to drink. It's easy
- 36:51Speaker 2: to enjoy. Bud Light, the official beer sponsor of the
- 36:55Speaker 2: New England Patriots.
- 36:56Speaker 4: So you guys know why had you taken care of
- 36:58Speaker 4: there you go?
- 36:58Speaker 6: There you go.
- 36:59Speaker 2: So if I is the Patriots, I'd serve the media
- 37:01Speaker 2: beer while they're watching practice drunk.
- 37:04Speaker 6: I don't know what they're watching anyway, get them drunk,
- 37:07Speaker 6: that would be that would be tough to write after.
- 37:09Speaker 2: So once our next opportunities.
- 37:11Speaker 6: Wednesday, next Wednesday, and then I think the week after
- 37:13Speaker 6: we have.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Two yeah, Monday, Friday, Monday Thursday, Monday Thursday and the
- 37:18Speaker 4: mini camp, so we'll see them.
- 37:20Speaker 6: We'll see them three more times before many camp.
- 37:21Speaker 4: And then I thought it was like the third and
- 37:23Speaker 4: the seventh.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I don't know, but the team is there, is out there, yes,
- 37:27Speaker 2: you know. So they're practicing. They have what three practices
- 37:30Speaker 2: this week, yeah, and then three more next week.
- 37:34Speaker 6: Right, they're putting them work in.
- 37:36Speaker 9: Beautiful weather too, beautiful one definitely giving training camp weather
- 37:39Speaker 9: with seventy nine degrees outside seven.
- 37:42Speaker 7: I think got a little color. And his fiance was
- 37:45Speaker 7: not was not happy with his protection.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Didn't even put my bag down before I start getting
- 37:49Speaker 4: so you got finger wagged for that too, huh wow.
- 37:52Speaker 2: No protection, tough day, no sunscreen, No.
- 37:55Speaker 3: I honestly, it didn't feel tardy. It didn't feel that
- 38:01Speaker 3: it was a little overcast and it wasn't that hot, and.
- 38:04Speaker 7: It was weird because you'd be hot under the sun
- 38:06Speaker 7: and the clouds would come and you'd be kind of cold,
- 38:08Speaker 7: and then you.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Know, it wasn't that warm yesterday. But but the sun
- 38:12Speaker 4: came out at like one one thirty and it stayed out.
- 38:14Speaker 6: For a while, so you guys started sweating.
- 38:17Speaker 4: No, no sunscreen out there.
- 38:19Speaker 7: No, Well that felt presumptuous because the weather's been so
- 38:22Speaker 7: bad and you're like, oh no, I get cocky and
- 38:24Speaker 7: put on some block right now.
- 38:25Speaker 6: But yeah, tempted fate, but I'm okay. I think my
- 38:28Speaker 6: lip's a little pretty good.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Crowd yesterday in terms of media, I.
- 38:32Speaker 6: Would say, not huge, but not the usual the usual subjects. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:36Speaker 6: everybody was there. They play music at different times too.
- 38:41Speaker 10: In practice they played music more.
- 38:43Speaker 6: Yeah, there's more music.
- 38:45Speaker 4: You know.
- 38:45Speaker 9: Especially, I feel like I was a little bit surprised,
- 38:49Speaker 9: and I feel like if we were allowed to see
- 38:51Speaker 9: rookie Minni camp, I feel like it would have been silent,
- 38:53Speaker 9: no music focused.
- 38:54Speaker 10: But then we went out there. Obviously the drod may
- 38:56Speaker 10: own it's music.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it helps I like it.
- 39:00Speaker 9: Yep.
- 39:00Speaker 2: All right, So that was ot a first day that
- 39:03Speaker 2: we had access to. We're we're starting off and running. Yeah,
- 39:09Speaker 2: we're off and running. Ye, before you know what, training
- 39:12Speaker 2: camp will be here.
- 39:13Speaker 7: And then that's can I ask because we didn't we
- 39:16Speaker 7: didn't watch again, what did you think of jahiem Bell?
- 39:17Speaker 6: Anything? I didn't I kept I didn't really clock him
- 39:19Speaker 6: at all. He just never really stood.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Out to him, not much, And I would put him
- 39:23Speaker 3: in the same category. It's a lot of Henry and Hooper,
- 39:26Speaker 3: and I get it, you know, those guys are going
- 39:28Speaker 3: to play a lot and during the season, but yeah,
- 39:32Speaker 3: you know, we.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Didn't get to see a lot of Jaim.
- 39:34Speaker 6: There's always like one or two players you get to
- 39:35Speaker 6: in a practice and like, where was Where was that guy?
- 39:37Speaker 6: I didn't even clock him ever, But yeah, that's what I.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Do want to mention Judon. He wasn't there, and I'm
- 39:43Speaker 2: not surprised he wasn't. I would imagine that he's looking
- 39:48Speaker 2: for some money.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah, I'm less worried about Judan then
- 39:52Speaker 3: I'm more worried about god Jab to be honest, because Judean.
- 39:55Speaker 3: I think they'll figure something out with him, just based off.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Of their actions with everybody else.
- 40:00Speaker 3: So far's Gotcha's getting paid what he's worth, you know,
- 40:04Speaker 3: and he's in a contract a year and I get that,
- 40:07Speaker 3: but I don't necessarily look at him as Judon's grossly
- 40:11Speaker 3: underpaid based off of his twenty twenty four salary, Like
- 40:14Speaker 3: he's not going to play for seven and a half
- 40:15Speaker 3: million dollars, right, but Godshaw's making his going rate. I
- 40:19Speaker 3: would say, well, you.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Never know, he might have had something to do in
- 40:22Speaker 2: South Beach.
- 40:23Speaker 9: But I also say, like he put his money where
- 40:25Speaker 9: his mouth was last year, like our run defense was
- 40:27Speaker 9: significantly better.
- 40:28Speaker 3: So I'm like, yeah, I'm not saying he's a bad player,
- 40:32Speaker 3: it's just that his skill set is. He's getting paid
- 40:35Speaker 3: at the top of the market of his skill set,
- 40:36Speaker 3: So I don't know how much more money they would
- 40:38Speaker 3: necessarily be giving him.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Now with Judon, is it better business for the
- 40:45Speaker 2: Patriots if they wanted to trade him to not sign
- 40:49Speaker 2: him so that the other team has free reign to
- 40:52Speaker 2: kind of renegotiate his deal or is it better to
- 40:55Speaker 2: kind of extend him and then trade him.
- 40:56Speaker 6: Well, I'd probably say the first one. First one, he
- 40:58Speaker 6: had a little more freedom.
- 40:59Speaker 4: Right, right, because then you're not so maybe to the.
- 41:03Speaker 6: Acquire him to based on what he's made.
- 41:05Speaker 2: So maybe the Patriots are you know, slow playing any
- 41:08Speaker 2: talks with him, just you know, to see if they can.
- 41:12Speaker 7: It's just a tough spot because you don't really have
- 41:14Speaker 7: one of those guys in the pipeline. You haven't developed
- 41:15Speaker 7: one in a long time. You had to go sign
- 41:17Speaker 7: Jude On to get that guy, and it's it's such
- 41:19Speaker 7: a you know, we spent all off season talking about
- 41:21Speaker 7: wide receiver, left tackle, quarterback, like this is that side
- 41:23Speaker 7: of the ball, Like you need a three down guy
- 41:26Speaker 7: that makes an impact.
- 41:27Speaker 4: I was interested in you guys talking about Keyon White
- 41:29Speaker 4: a little bit, and you know that that he was outside.
- 41:31Speaker 4: I would have thought for sure he would be definitely
- 41:35Speaker 4: guy at most like a Dietrich Wise kind of like
- 41:39Speaker 4: hand down, but even you know, as a pure defensive tackle.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Even but if they if they think he's more suited
- 41:49Speaker 4: to I mean he's standing up, then at some point,
- 41:52Speaker 4: you know, like you want to be a draft and
- 41:53Speaker 4: developed team. You know that's a guy you drafted, and
- 41:57Speaker 4: if you're going to develop him rather than sink a
- 42:00Speaker 4: lot of money. And I'm not suggesting getting rid of Jewdon,
- 42:03Speaker 4: I'm just saying I could understand if that was their
- 42:05Speaker 4: thought process. We're not gonna put more money into that,
- 42:09Speaker 4: We're gonna have this guy develop and eventually take his place.
- 42:13Speaker 4: I could. I could understand that line.
- 42:14Speaker 3: It's a little I am a little bit worried about it.
- 42:17Speaker 3: With Kean Waite, I don't think he has a real
- 42:19Speaker 3: natural position.
- 42:20Speaker 4: I'm not sure exactly what he does. Yeah, I think
- 42:22Speaker 4: he has skill, I'm just not sure what.
- 42:24Speaker 6: I think.
- 42:24Speaker 3: He's a four to three end, and they did hint
- 42:28Speaker 3: at maybe being a little bit more four man front
- 42:30Speaker 3: moving forward with Covington, a three four defensive end is
- 42:34Speaker 3: like Lawrence guy, like you're talking about three ten even
- 42:37Speaker 3: more in terms of waight tywarn Yeah, you're not gonna
- 42:41Speaker 3: play three four defensive end in the two gapping system
- 42:43Speaker 3: at two eighty five.
- 42:44Speaker 4: You're gonna get run over.
- 42:45Speaker 2: YEA. When's the last time the Pages really played a
- 42:48Speaker 2: true three four?
- 42:49Speaker 4: Oh?
- 42:50Speaker 6: I mean last like, yeah, handful of time to time?
- 42:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I think I always look at that
- 42:54Speaker 7: as when we can't stop the run.
- 42:55Speaker 6: Right now, we're just going base three four?
- 42:57Speaker 7: What we learned in these days back in I mean
- 43:00Speaker 7: I remember it was Denver, maybe like twenty fifteen. I
- 43:03Speaker 7: think that's where they lost High Tower and it was like,
- 43:05Speaker 7: all of a sudden they just went pure three four
- 43:07Speaker 7: because they couldn't stop the run. But but I agree
- 43:10Speaker 7: with Evan and I just think the problem though, was
- 43:12Speaker 7: this is a four.
- 43:12Speaker 6: To three defensive ent.
- 43:13Speaker 7: He doesn't really have the get off of the speed
- 43:15Speaker 7: to threat in the edge. So he's a powerful guy,
- 43:18Speaker 7: and I think he's kind of nimble, like surprisingly nimble.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's a power guy.
- 43:23Speaker 6: He's not a speed rusher, and I think they're missing.
- 43:25Speaker 4: I would look at him as one of those edge
- 43:27Speaker 4: guys more like Jennings than Juda. Yep, he can set
- 43:31Speaker 4: the edge and.
- 43:32Speaker 7: Do That's what Jennings did in college and so you know.
- 43:34Speaker 7: But it's like Cam White's similarly kind of.
- 43:36Speaker 4: He's standing up.
- 43:37Speaker 3: I think he's too heavy, Like, I don't think he's
- 43:40Speaker 3: light enough on his feet into your point, I don't
- 43:42Speaker 3: think he has that first step to turn the corner
- 43:44Speaker 3: from outside the tackle. But if he's inside and he's
- 43:47Speaker 3: reduced inside, then I think he's too light.
- 43:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:50Speaker 3: So he's like this tweeterer of like where are you
- 43:52Speaker 3: gonna put him? I mean they've been a beast three
- 43:55Speaker 3: to four team for the last handful of years. They
- 43:57Speaker 3: have their pass rush fronts, you know, on third downs
- 43:59Speaker 3: and things like that that are just kind of their
- 44:01Speaker 3: own thing. But when it comes to first and ten
- 44:04Speaker 3: at the twenty five to start the game, their mechanics
- 44:08Speaker 3: are three four. That's how they run the system. And
- 44:10Speaker 3: I just I don't know where he plays in that
- 44:12Speaker 3: type of defense.
- 44:12Speaker 7: Especially when it's just two defensive lineman, when you had
- 44:15Speaker 7: Godshaw and Guy in the middle, and then you maybe
- 44:17Speaker 7: had four stand up kind of guys and it's hard
- 44:19Speaker 7: even there to figure out.
- 44:20Speaker 2: But do they have that true nose tackle, that zero
- 44:24Speaker 2: technique guy or I mean.
- 44:26Speaker 4: Ye, Godshaw's always in the in the inside. Now if
- 44:29Speaker 4: he's truly like the Vince you know, I don't know
- 44:32Speaker 4: I believe that to have, but I think of him
- 44:35Speaker 4: more as a nose tackle guy.
- 44:37Speaker 7: But but even two years why they had Carl Davis too,
- 44:40Speaker 7: though who Carl Davis was really he was a peer
- 44:42Speaker 7: and one he was a pure nose But they don't
- 44:45Speaker 7: have a backup and Lawrence Guy's gone too, So I
- 44:48Speaker 7: just you know, Tamarra brought up the run defense.
- 44:49Speaker 6: That's you know, talk about whack a mole.
- 44:51Speaker 7: That could be a thing where you know, Godshaw's unhappy,
- 44:54Speaker 7: Lawrence Guy's not back, and all of a sudden we're
- 44:56Speaker 7: kind of having some trouble against the run. You know,
- 44:58Speaker 7: those those are problems I think you got to be
- 44:59Speaker 7: aware of. And yeah, just I know we talked about
- 45:02Speaker 7: we don't get the twenty twenty five draft, but like
- 45:04Speaker 7: sneaky negative, big defense, big defense here, I think they're gonna.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Usually defensive line. Yeah, one of those you know how
- 45:11Speaker 3: we talked about the receivers this year, tackles like, that's
- 45:14Speaker 3: how we're going to talk about the defensive line.
- 45:16Speaker 7: Aways, Deuce is time to shine, all right, going, I'm
- 45:19Speaker 7: not even doing the draft and I'm just kiaring.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Eight five five pats five hundred is the A sticket hotline.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Eight five five pats five hundred. Web radio at pages
- 45:29Speaker 2: dot com is the email address. Let's hit the phones.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Curtis and Saint Louis has been holding on. What's up, Curtis? Hey,
- 45:37Speaker 2: are you guys doing good?
- 45:38Speaker 8: Hey Curtis, Hey, just wanted to say, first, you guys
- 45:42Speaker 8: are great, awesome, always listening to you guys.
- 45:45Speaker 11: And of course I know I said guys, sorry, but anyway, sorry,
- 45:52Speaker 11: First I just.
- 45:53Speaker 12: Wanted to say I love the schedule of the release.
- 45:55Speaker 11: That was awesome thanks. Matter of fact, my wife had
- 45:58Speaker 11: never seen the movie, so I was like, well, you know,
- 46:00Speaker 11: we got to go watch that now. So it was
- 46:02Speaker 11: actually a good operation for a date night, right, So
- 46:05Speaker 11: that was awesome.
- 46:06Speaker 12: Uh, and then I know, you guys.
- 46:07Speaker 11: Kind of touched on it a little bit with the receivers,
- 46:10Speaker 11: and I know we're early here at the end of May,
- 46:12Speaker 11: you know and OTAs, but uh, you know, what do
- 46:14Speaker 11: you think that receiver Coral looked like when we get
- 46:16Speaker 11: down to the fifty three? You know, do you think
- 46:18Speaker 11: we'll have six receivers? I know Juju's talking about being
- 46:22Speaker 11: at one hundred percent now, I feel like maybe there's
- 46:25Speaker 11: you know, three or four that we kind of say
- 46:28Speaker 11: might be locked in. But you know, do we have
- 46:30Speaker 11: that fifth or possibly even sixth receiver?
- 46:33Speaker 2: I think I think.
- 46:34Speaker 11: Last go ahead, sorry, go ahead.
- 46:36Speaker 2: No, I think that the two draft picks are locked in,
- 46:38Speaker 2: and I think probably Douglas and Burn are locked in.
- 46:41Speaker 11: Yep, yeah, exactly whether whether Born starts off this season
- 46:45Speaker 11: or not, I feel like he's probably locked in as well.
- 46:48Speaker 11: But yeah, I was just curious if we did keep
- 46:50Speaker 11: that fifth or sixth guy possibly you know who they
- 46:53Speaker 11: might be maybe and then.
- 46:55Speaker 12: Just again speculation, but who you think might might leave
- 46:59Speaker 12: the lead the receiving corps this year? Saying receptions or
- 47:04Speaker 12: or yards on the field, Who's.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Going to lead the receiving corps? All right, thanks Curtis.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Like a fantasy football question. I feel like I have
- 47:13Speaker 4: the least amount of feel for that position, maybe than
- 47:17Speaker 4: any of them.
- 47:18Speaker 7: I mean, I know Douglas will be in the slot
- 47:20Speaker 7: and he'll be pretty good. That's where I think I
- 47:22Speaker 7: don't even like confidence.
- 47:23Speaker 2: I don't know that either.
- 47:24Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know anything about that that
- 47:26Speaker 4: whole group.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if he's going to be primarily
- 47:29Speaker 2: a slot guy.
- 47:30Speaker 4: Oh, if he plays, it's going to be in the slot.
- 47:33Speaker 2: I think he's going to be all over the place.
- 47:35Speaker 4: He's not big enough for the outside the outside, he's
- 47:38Speaker 4: so small. But I mean I think Osborne could be
- 47:41Speaker 4: a part of that, yes, Like like I don't. I
- 47:44Speaker 4: could see a scenario that Osborne is your your leading receiver,
- 47:47Speaker 4: and I could see a scenario where he's one of
- 47:49Speaker 4: those free agent signings that doesn't make the team. Yeah,
- 47:51Speaker 4: that's how little I have a feel on that.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I think that just speaks to just the talent level
- 47:57Speaker 3: of that position. And they have a lot of bodies,
- 47:59Speaker 3: but I don't know if they have a lot of players.
- 48:01Speaker 3: You know, they have eleven guys on the team. But
- 48:03Speaker 3: I think when watching it yesterday, you're kind of just
- 48:06Speaker 3: like kJ Osborne's another one of those just just a guy,
- 48:09Speaker 3: like he's just you know, he's not gonna be anything
- 48:12Speaker 3: that's gonna move the needle. I just think the biggest
- 48:14Speaker 3: thing with the receivers is Kendrick Bourne's health. If he
- 48:16Speaker 3: starts the year on IR or PUP or something like
- 48:19Speaker 3: that because of the knee, then it opens up a
- 48:22Speaker 3: spot for a Juju, a Taekwon thor in one of
- 48:25Speaker 3: those guys to just by default basically just make the team.
- 48:30Speaker 3: And I think there's a new rule now that you
- 48:31Speaker 3: can be on IR before the cutdown and come back
- 48:36Speaker 3: in season, so it's no longer that you have to
- 48:38Speaker 3: make the fifty three man roster to come back.
- 48:41Speaker 4: So they've eliminated that, which is a good move. I
- 48:43Speaker 4: didn't know that. I didn't know that they had made
- 48:45Speaker 4: that alteration. That's a good I think that's.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Spots if I'm not mistaken, that can they can do
- 48:49Speaker 3: that way, so like Strange and Born could be that
- 48:53Speaker 3: instead of Pup.
- 48:54Speaker 9: I just don't see a world or Juju and taekwond
- 48:57Speaker 9: are on this roster.
- 48:58Speaker 10: I mean saying this every every week, But.
- 49:00Speaker 4: See, I I can't just want to see him, but
- 49:02Speaker 4: I don't. I'm not telling you they will be ye,
- 49:04Speaker 4: Like I could see, like I said, I could see
- 49:07Speaker 4: a world where Bourne's not ready to go at the
- 49:09Speaker 4: start of the season, Osborne is your leading receiver. I
- 49:12Speaker 4: could see Osborne just like you know what, it's just
- 49:14Speaker 4: not working with this guy, and we're gonna give Thornton
- 49:17Speaker 4: a chance, you know, like what's the difference, you know,
- 49:21Speaker 4: keeping six or I would say five or six?
- 49:23Speaker 6: Yeah, but usually five and six need to play.
- 49:26Speaker 4: But I don't think that. I don't think any of
- 49:27Speaker 4: those guys are locks.
- 49:29Speaker 10: I just know Rigger, I guess because of the special teams.
- 49:32Speaker 10: So I'm just gonna count him j Yeah, kJ Pop
- 49:38Speaker 10: Polk Baker.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Who am I forgetting Boute.
- 49:42Speaker 9: Add him to the my list from earlier, depends on if.
- 49:45Speaker 6: Is healthy born Thornton. I just want to see it.
- 49:49Speaker 6: To your point, pot, I just want to see these
- 49:50Speaker 6: guys play.
- 49:51Speaker 4: What is it?
- 49:51Speaker 9: What is.
- 49:54Speaker 4: Six for six? I could see her being like three.
- 49:57Speaker 6: Thornton one hundred and ninety pounds, look like, you know,
- 49:58Speaker 6: like these things like.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I do think it's also important to remember that you
- 50:02Speaker 3: know the way that they're gonna be early down on offense,
- 50:04Speaker 3: they're gonna there. I know everybody hates to hear this,
- 50:06Speaker 3: but the receivers are gonna have to be able to
- 50:08Speaker 3: run block Like you're not gonna throw their base. Their
- 50:11Speaker 3: base receivers are not gonna be Pop Douglas and Taekwon Thornton.
- 50:15Speaker 3: That's just not gonna work.
- 50:16Speaker 4: But it could right.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Juju is a bigger, thicker guy that can that can
- 50:21Speaker 3: block a little bit. kJ Osborne I think fits that mold.
- 50:24Speaker 3: That's why with Pop, I don't know where he fits
- 50:27Speaker 3: ideally in this offense on early downs because you have
- 50:30Speaker 3: to have a little bit more size, you know, you
- 50:32Speaker 3: have to have a little bit more girth to you
- 50:34Speaker 3: uh to be able to play in this system. So
- 50:37Speaker 3: that's why you see a lot of the Niners, the
- 50:39Speaker 3: the Browns, the Rams, you know, Pooka and Cooper Cup
- 50:42Speaker 3: and like some of these bigger guys at receiver because
- 50:47Speaker 3: you know of that reason. So I I I don't
- 50:50Speaker 3: know where that goes. But from a body type perspective,
- 50:53Speaker 3: like Juju does fit a lot of what they're gonna
- 50:56Speaker 3: probably do on one. I don't know why you guys want
- 51:02Speaker 3: doesn't does not fit that no, but he does fit
- 51:05Speaker 3: that we want to take the top off the defense
- 51:08Speaker 3: aspect of this.
- 51:09Speaker 10: That's fine, but I need you to catch the ball.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Yeah, of course, before I would feel the best about
- 51:14Speaker 4: the two rookies and then born in Douglas, like I would,
- 51:18Speaker 4: you know, I think Osborne probably fits into there too,
- 51:22Speaker 4: But again, yeah, I don't know exactly what to think.
- 51:25Speaker 4: And even with Douglas, like, let's just say, for arguments sake,
- 51:29Speaker 4: you hit on the two rookies, do you need Douglas?
- 51:32Speaker 4: You know, like I don't. I don't know what the
- 51:35Speaker 4: answer is.
- 51:37Speaker 7: You know, I think he's just got to He's one
- 51:39Speaker 7: of the only guys that actually has some like whoa athletics.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I would be surprised if he was not a
- 51:44Speaker 4: part of the offense. I would absolutely be surprised. But
- 51:46Speaker 4: I have no real feel for how they're going to
- 51:49Speaker 4: do the you know, and I think they'll be six,
- 51:52Speaker 4: but I have I don't really have a great feel
- 51:54Speaker 4: of which six they'll be.
- 51:55Speaker 7: Do you think it feeds into what guys the quarterbacks
- 51:57Speaker 7: like and what guys they just try to have some
- 52:00Speaker 7: chemistry with it point if.
- 52:02Speaker 4: You're if you're running an offense that's a little different
- 52:04Speaker 4: than what you had. Maybe there's a guy who really
- 52:08Speaker 4: fits that offense better than someone else. I don't know
- 52:10Speaker 4: what the answer is.
- 52:11Speaker 2: And also Eric's point, with all these receivers, you need
- 52:15Speaker 2: the reps to see who. Yeah, you know it has chemistry. Yeah,
- 52:20Speaker 2: you know.
- 52:20Speaker 7: So I do wonder about Thornton just because I mean
- 52:22Speaker 7: it was so clear what he was when they drafted him,
- 52:24Speaker 7: and then like ninety the time when he was getting hurt,
- 52:26Speaker 7: They're like sending them into the line.
- 52:28Speaker 6: He's like trying to block. Guy. It was just you know,
- 52:30Speaker 6: so maybe there is a word like and I keep it's.
- 52:32Speaker 4: Hurt hitting the ground, hurt blocking, right. He literally said
- 52:36Speaker 4: that last week. Yes, I've in catching you guys in
- 52:39Speaker 4: Green Bay and he heard his shoulder and he made
- 52:42Speaker 4: a play I think in the Carolina preseason game when
- 52:45Speaker 4: his rookie year and did the same thing. Yeah, he does.
- 52:49Speaker 3: From a stylistic standpoint, in this offense, you you're you're
- 52:53Speaker 3: gonna be running a lot of foot races across the field.
- 52:56Speaker 3: You know, it's gonna be bootleg and it's going to
- 52:58Speaker 3: be crossing routes and deepot overs and posts and things
- 53:01Speaker 3: like that. And in theory, you know, he made a
- 53:03Speaker 3: catch yesterday on one of them, like that the speed receiver.
- 53:07Speaker 3: You know it does fit now I'm not falling for
- 53:10Speaker 3: it again.
- 53:10Speaker 9: Yeah, I feel like either he dropped the ball he
- 53:15Speaker 9: wasn't running the right route, or when they had him
- 53:16Speaker 9: in there as a decoy, he wasn't running fast that
- 53:19Speaker 9: you would actually believe that he wasn't getting the ball.
- 53:22Speaker 3: I agree with that the route running conversions wouldn't shouldn't
- 53:25Speaker 3: be as much of an issue anymore.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Like they're gonna thinking there's gonna be less of that.
- 53:29Speaker 4: You go there, Reno's in Tennessee.
- 53:33Speaker 2: What's up Reno?
- 53:34Speaker 4: Take a right at the Chevy Reno Reno High Tower.
- 53:40Speaker 2: No, Reno's gone.
- 53:41Speaker 9: Oh wait, speaking of high tower, he looked like he
- 53:43Speaker 9: could suit up and play.
- 53:44Speaker 6: All right, I'm going to disagree with that.
- 53:46Speaker 7: His legs look like his upper body has shrunk like
- 53:48Speaker 7: his but his legs are still.
- 53:50Speaker 4: Really he got smaller.
- 53:51Speaker 6: Well, just he's not as thick up top. You guys
- 53:54Speaker 6: know me.
- 53:54Speaker 2: I'm he's not in the program.
- 53:58Speaker 4: Bother it certainly is.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Calves are noted up. Let's go to Connor in Florida.
- 54:06Speaker 2: What's up? Connor?
- 54:09Speaker 3: Connor and Florida, I literally just heard him say something.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Connor, No, all right, forget it.
- 54:17Speaker 6: Screw you guys.
- 54:18Speaker 4: Yeah, not leg dare though, huh.
- 54:21Speaker 6: No, No, I think that's Jeans.
- 54:23Speaker 9: Though.
- 54:23Speaker 7: He's lucky, lucky man, lucky man. Not all of us
- 54:25Speaker 7: work were best blessed with the not a Calve's Paul.
- 54:28Speaker 6: You know, you get the implants, you get the calf implants.
- 54:31Speaker 4: Okay, I give him a chance to walk it back,
- 54:34Speaker 4: and I double down.
- 54:36Speaker 6: I double down.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Let's go to Francisco and North Carolina. Who writes in
- 54:42Speaker 2: A big fan from North Carolina coming up for Tom's
- 54:45Speaker 2: Hall of Fame induction, was wondering, what's some other things
- 54:48Speaker 2: to do in the area.
- 54:50Speaker 6: Well, yeah, do you like ice cream?
- 54:53Speaker 2: I mean, if you're going to Boston, do you like
- 54:55Speaker 2: going forty five minutes north or south?
- 54:59Speaker 7: Stuff to do like a got to hype up my town,
- 55:01Speaker 7: go to crestern Ridge and Sharon or or overrated.
- 55:04Speaker 6: It is a little but Fred, you're not going to.
- 55:06Speaker 7: Get a better deal in ice cream anywhere. Like I'm
- 55:08Speaker 7: telling you right now, I love ice cream, and I
- 55:10Speaker 7: go kidty like that, Like forget the small and large
- 55:13Speaker 7: in the world.
- 55:13Speaker 6: That's that's too much. They got great portions there.
- 55:16Speaker 4: So this person is looking for something to do. When
- 55:18Speaker 4: you're setting them to an ice cream, you're getting him
- 55:20Speaker 4: an ice cream. It's going to set him for a
- 55:22Speaker 4: pizza place. Give the pizza place.
- 55:24Speaker 6: Yeah it sounds fine.
- 55:26Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 55:26Speaker 10: Like the thing to do if they're here is to
- 55:29Speaker 10: go to a Celtics game.
- 55:30Speaker 6: Well, that's hard, they're playing.
- 55:33Speaker 7: If you if you can get take us to the
- 55:34Speaker 7: NBA Finals that will be going on the same night
- 55:36Speaker 7: as Brady Knight.
- 55:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that'll be Game three. Yeah right, yeah, be in Minnesota.
- 55:42Speaker 4: We'll be in Minnesota or Dallas.
- 55:44Speaker 6: Go to Boston, go on a tour, you know, walk
- 55:47Speaker 6: the free.
- 55:47Speaker 3: I would definitely if you're coming here, like just bite
- 55:50Speaker 3: the bullet and stay in Boston and do all your
- 55:52Speaker 3: your fun stuff in Boston and then find a way out.
- 55:55Speaker 7: Oh you got to go to the Hall of Fame,
- 55:57Speaker 7: Hall of Fame, Patriot Place, get a bud Light, get
- 55:59Speaker 7: some can drive a Toyota.
- 56:02Speaker 6: Just do it all.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Dell's Lemonade.
- 56:03Speaker 4: That's how it's done, right he did. That was a
- 56:06Speaker 4: master class you could learn from.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Produce uh Norman in Daytona Beach rites in wouldn't be
- 56:13Speaker 2: too concerned about Drake not getting as many reps as
- 56:15Speaker 2: the veterans after hearing about how much his footwork needs
- 56:18Speaker 2: so much improvement, is it possible that they're working more
- 56:21Speaker 2: on that aspect, getting him more comfortable with what he
- 56:24Speaker 2: needs to do to correct the problem, rather than putting
- 56:27Speaker 2: him out there and falling back into his own bad
- 56:29Speaker 2: footwork habits or my way off base. I'm really trying
- 56:32Speaker 2: to be positive about the new regime.
- 56:34Speaker 7: I just I wouldn't get carried away with these things,
- 56:36Speaker 7: like I think that these are these are mechanical things
- 56:38Speaker 7: that any young quarterback, especially when I was twenty one
- 56:40Speaker 7: years old and only played three years of college football,
- 56:42Speaker 7: they might possibly have. So I just I think that
- 56:44Speaker 7: these things are these are starting to be what is
- 56:47Speaker 7: it like now they're leading the cart like now the
- 56:48Speaker 7: cards leading the horses kind of thing where it's like
- 56:51Speaker 7: this kid is still really promising. He does have some
- 56:53Speaker 7: things to work out with, But I don't think that
- 56:54Speaker 7: that to me coming out is like, oh man, his
- 56:56Speaker 7: feeder mast.
- 56:57Speaker 3: I mean, if we can't if he can't take a
- 56:59Speaker 3: rep and practice because his footwork is an issue, then
- 57:02Speaker 3: we have big problems. Like we're not talking about throwing
- 57:05Speaker 3: him out there against the Bengals in Week one, talking
- 57:07Speaker 3: about practice.
- 57:08Speaker 4: I would just argue that if his footwork is that
- 57:11Speaker 4: big of a deal, how is it supposed to get
- 57:12Speaker 4: fixed standing around watching But you fix it by giving
- 57:17Speaker 4: him reps and correcting it on film when you have
- 57:19Speaker 4: a wrap and.
- 57:20Speaker 6: We've seen two practices.
- 57:21Speaker 7: How much time that they put in on footwork and
- 57:23Speaker 7: like drop backs? I mean, it's a lot they're all getting.
- 57:27Speaker 4: And that's why I agree with the very first thing
- 57:29Speaker 4: you said. You know, I'm not going to get too carried.
- 57:31Speaker 2: Away with all this stuff, speaking with some rapid fire
- 57:34Speaker 2: quick answer questions.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Ready, rapid fire quick answer questions.
- 57:38Speaker 2: More likely Gonzales goes on IR week one or stays
- 57:42Speaker 2: health of the entire season.
- 57:46Speaker 4: More likely, I are week one, Yeah, stay healthy the
- 57:51Speaker 4: entire season. I stay, that's like the field.
- 57:54Speaker 2: More likely. The Patriots first win is Week one at
- 57:57Speaker 2: the Bengals or Week seven in Wembley for this is
- 58:00Speaker 2: the Jags.
- 58:02Speaker 4: Seven seven.
- 58:04Speaker 3: Yeah, probably probably more likely, But I don't roll out
- 58:07Speaker 3: them giving the Bengals a game.
- 58:08Speaker 2: They're gonna beat him.
- 58:10Speaker 6: No, wow, Joe Rusty, you see Joe burs haircuts.
- 58:13Speaker 4: It's no good time writing this down.
- 58:15Speaker 6: Go ahead, I'm writing this down.
- 58:16Speaker 4: Go ahead. I'm gonna let you write what's today's date
- 58:19Speaker 4: if you want to write it down? Right now? Fred
- 58:23Speaker 4: will be picking against the Bengals all seventeen weeks. I
- 58:26Speaker 4: will promise you that it's been that way for the
- 58:29Speaker 4: last four years, at least maybe five.
- 58:35Speaker 2: More likely May's first start comes after the bye or
- 58:38Speaker 2: in twenty twenty five the bye.
- 58:41Speaker 4: Yeah, last four after the bye, I would say.
- 58:46Speaker 2: I'm here to tell you here's another bold prediction. There's
- 58:48Speaker 2: no way that we don't see Drake mar Mace start
- 58:51Speaker 2: a game this year. There's no way.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, I think there's a way.
- 58:56Speaker 10: Okay, I wrote this down.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Obviously there's a way. But I'm with you, just just
- 59:00Speaker 2: for take purposes.
- 59:01Speaker 4: If they're really hell bent on not playing them like.
- 59:04Speaker 2: This, yeah, and I don't think they are, Okay, And
- 59:06Speaker 2: I hope, I hope you're right. More likely May's I
- 59:09Speaker 2: just said that, yes or no? If the preset led
- 59:13Speaker 2: Patriots start one and four, does May start Week six
- 59:16Speaker 2: against the Texans?
- 59:18Speaker 4: Not if he's not ready?
- 59:19Speaker 6: No, not necessarily no.
- 59:21Speaker 2: No, yes or no. The Patriots record earns them a
- 59:26Speaker 2: top five pick next year.
- 59:29Speaker 6: I'm going to say no, but not much lower than that.
- 59:31Speaker 3: I'm gonna say yes, yes, I'm going to say no.
- 59:34Speaker 4: I think they're gonna pick eighth.
- 59:36Speaker 3: Alright, can mark me down on that one eighth?
- 59:38Speaker 10: That's still pretty good.
- 59:39Speaker 3: Schedule tiebreakers, Yeah, some like you know, maybe some better
- 59:44Speaker 3: better luck and.
- 59:46Speaker 2: Over under number of times during the season, Mayo publicly
- 59:50Speaker 2: refers to Craft as thunder hashtag cringe three.
- 59:54Speaker 6: And a zero zero.
- 59:56Speaker 2: I think it's done over and last one. More likely
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Evan mows a lawn at some point in his life,
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: or that Eric still watches American football. Well, that's a
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: tough one.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Thelan is gonna be tough because we might be city people.
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: For Yeah, I'm gonna go with Eric watching American football.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: I don't have a lawn to mow right now. I
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: can't see Evan ever mowing a lawn. If he hasn't
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: done it at this point. It's something it's not something
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: you pick up in your mid thirties.
- 1:00:25Speaker 7: I want it for him, though it might be if
- 1:00:26Speaker 7: he buys a house and they have it somebody. No, No,
- 1:00:30Speaker 7: you gotta do what you're saying. You gotta know, Yeah,
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: you gotta know the satisfaction of well.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Tis the season for mowing lawns and Memorial Day weekend

- 1:02:46Speaker 8: I've got some good weather. All right, all right, I
- 1:02:50Speaker 8: know what how are you guys? I'm excited? Uh you know,
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: first day Olgas guys seem ready to go read doubt
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: in the meeting rooms. Then we'll see now sound to
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: applied to the field. So excited.
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: Specific to the quarterbacks, what are you looking to see
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: from them in this setting?
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: Well, it depends what quarterback you're talking about. I would
- 1:03:08Speaker 8: say from a holistic standpoint, it's just about progress. Look, today,
- 1:03:11Speaker 8: it won't be perfect, and I don't expect it to
- 1:03:13Speaker 8: be perfect, but you wanna make sure you see these
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: guys going in the right direction. From an execution standpoint,
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: you know what you guys built.
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: This offense as playbook?
- 1:03:21Speaker 8: Is this sort of Alex damp Pelt's offense?
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: Is this an offense for your hut quarterbacks?
- 1:03:28Speaker 9: Nah?
- 1:03:28Speaker 8: I mean, look, all these quarterbacks have a let's say,
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: a similar skill set. It's a it's a a VP offense.
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: And once again, sometimes I think we read too much
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: into that stuff, especially when you're talking about early downs,
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: which is really the primary focus this week is early
- 1:03:40Speaker 8: downs and not third down. Now, once you get the
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: third down it's a little bit more exotic, and you
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: could say, oh, this is a alexand pelt offense or
- 1:03:47Speaker 8: whoever you wanna use.
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: You mentioned early down.
- 1:03:49Speaker 14: When you guys get the team period today it is
- 1:03:52Speaker 14: that the focus uh here.
- 1:03:53Speaker 8: Yeah, once once we get the team, it's all early
- 1:03:56Speaker 8: downs and and once again, look we're gonna go out
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: here and compete, but at the same time be smart.
- 1:04:00Speaker 8: One goal has to be to get out of the
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: spring healthy. Hopefully we've built the sense of camaraderie amongst
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: our teammates and coaches and you know, really getting a
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: fundamental uh understanding of how we wanna play.
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: So cool, cooler bucks le's let's play. When it comes
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: to splitting up the reps.
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: Free you'll see today, you'll see today, you'll see today.
- 1:04:15Speaker 8: But but honestly, look, all these guys will get an opportunity.
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: It's really not about how many reps here and there.
- 1:04:19Speaker 8: It's about the quality of those reps that you get.
- 1:04:21Speaker 8: And that's what I preach. Uh good, Drake mag said against.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: What progress did you see out of Drake made during
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: your community?
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: Yeah, I thought Drake did a great job not only
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: you know, progressing on the field, but also off the field.
- 1:04:33Speaker 8: You can already tell like he's gonna put in that
- 1:04:35Speaker 8: extra work that I'll walk by the quarterback meeting room,
- 1:04:37Speaker 8: he's just in there by himself, watching film and those
- 1:04:39Speaker 8: are the things that you wanna see and excited to
- 1:04:41Speaker 8: see his growth going forward. How do you view the
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: competition in the wide receiver reim it's a it's a
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: wide open competition.
- 1:04:47Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:04:47Speaker 8: You know, we got we have some young bulls, we
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: have some older players.
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: We have guys who are really unproven, so this is
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: an opportunity for them to really get a leg up.
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: Uh going forward, especially when you don't have a guy
- 1:04:56Speaker 8: like Born out here during the spring. Uh, guys will
- 1:04:58Speaker 8: have opportunities.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: You had a tough year last year and some physical issuears.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: What have you seen from him so far?
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: And what's when there's a child? That room is pretty crowded. Yeah,
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: the room is definitely crowded. He looks good, he's moving around. Well,
- 1:05:10Speaker 8: we'll see today when they're actually going against someone else.
- 1:05:13Speaker 8: But it looks good, and it's the question for the
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: end of the spring.
- 1:05:15Speaker 9: Honestly, the focus has been on you know, Drake and Jacoby,
- 1:05:20Speaker 9: uh and even.
- 1:05:21Speaker 10: Joe a little bit.
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: One person you haven't talked about a lot of this
- 1:05:23Speaker 8: being the Zappi.
- 1:05:24Speaker 9: What have you seen from him this off season and
- 1:05:25Speaker 9: how has he improved in the eyes?
- 1:05:27Speaker 8: You know, honestly, I I think about zap as a
- 1:05:29Speaker 8: as a true professional. You know, we drafted two quarterbacks.
- 1:05:31Speaker 8: Obviously he's gonna be competing with those guys. But at
- 1:05:33Speaker 8: the same time, he's an open book. He is a resource.
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: He has started games in this league, and that's more
- 1:05:38Speaker 8: than the other two quarterbacks can say.
- 1:05:40Speaker 13: Got Joe earlier.
- 1:05:40Speaker 14: Your first second mentioned that having in the spring, what's
- 1:05:43Speaker 14: what's the timeline for him to happen on the fields?
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: You know, honestly, it's a week by week type of thing.
- 1:05:49Speaker 8: We hope to get him out here. Well, he won't
- 1:05:50Speaker 8: be out here during the spring, I can tell you that,
- 1:05:52Speaker 8: So we'll see going forward. That's more information than you
- 1:05:54Speaker 8: normally will get, right and as we're not a check
- 1:05:58Speaker 8: series during the springs, Uh, there are. There are a
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: few guys, you know, a few guys still working through
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: some things. You know, we had our offees and surgeries
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: and things like that. So you'll see him, you'll see
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: out here in a second.
- 1:06:09Speaker 14: Optional practices are you are you happy with the attendance.
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: The attendance is great. The attendance is great. You know
- 1:06:14Speaker 8: a handful of guys that aren't here. At the same time,
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: those guys that aren't here are chiue professionals, and they
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: know what they have to do to get back and
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: be in shape or ready to go.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: You don't expected to be here if you're up.
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: Uh, he's not here today. I'll say he's not here today.
- 1:06:27Speaker 8: He has been in and out at the same time. Look,
- 1:06:29Speaker 8: he's one of those guys historically he's been in and out,
- 1:06:32Speaker 8: so not really a big story there.
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: You guys have a rough timeline when.
- 1:06:35Speaker 8: It comes to culture, And yeah, that's an interesting one.
- 1:06:41Speaker 8: He's another guy you know normally would say, you know
- 1:06:43Speaker 8: day by day. He's he's more of a let's say
- 1:06:45Speaker 8: week by week or you wanna go month by month
- 1:06:47Speaker 8: if you want to. But he's working hard, he's doing
- 1:06:49Speaker 8: his rehab. He's here every day, he's in the meeting room.
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: So I'm happy where he is.
- 1:06:54Speaker 14: Are the distribution to that, But and see with the quarterbacks,
- 1:06:58Speaker 14: is that what would probably be happening with or not?
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: No, No, that won't be indicative of what we do
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: I think it's a it's a day by day thing,
- 1:07:04Speaker 8: you know, you try to keep all those guys around
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: the same rep count, but at the same time and
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: in the given day, this guy could get thirty refs,
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: another guy could get five. But then as we work
- 1:07:12Speaker 8: through the week, you know, it kind of flip when
- 1:07:15Speaker 8: it comes.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: To Drake's development, do you guys look at it as
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: like in phases like how do you kind of structure
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: what you you know, what he can absorb and.
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: Stayah, you know there are definitely things. You know, Look,
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: he's learning a new playbook, he's learning a new language,
- 1:07:27Speaker 8: he's learning his teammates, he's learning, you know, fundamentals that
- 1:07:30Speaker 8: we preach here. So it's a lot for him. At
- 1:07:32Speaker 8: the same time, I think he can I know he
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: can handle it, and I just look forward to seeing
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: them progress. What is the players responsiban to having not
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: the Slater back?
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: And I know we kind of talked like what it
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: means to you to have him back? But what did
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: you notice from you?
- 1:07:43Speaker 8: Yeah, you know the thing about Slate he can wear
- 1:07:45Speaker 8: so many different hats. He can you know, he can
- 1:07:47Speaker 8: help as far as technique and coaching. His concern on
- 1:07:50Speaker 8: special teams. He's also he's always been a spiritual leader
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: in our locker room as well. And then once again
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: just to confidence not only to me but also to
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: the players. And he knows one hundred percent I will
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: never you know, put him in a position where he's
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: kind of, you know, losing the trust of the players.
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: I want the players to be able to talk to
- 1:08:06Speaker 8: him knowing that it won't get back to me. He
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: understands that as well.
- 1:08:09Speaker 14: Does for your first story came out today in references
- 1:08:12Speaker 14: to playing for the quarterbacks to have four down to
- 1:08:14Speaker 14: three because you understand, how does I let the reps
- 1:08:16Speaker 14: for training camp? What would that fourth quarterback then be
- 1:08:19Speaker 14: be doing?
- 1:08:20Speaker 8: We'll see, We'll see, you know, once we get the
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: training camp, Like that's real football. So out here in
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: the spring, well we'll rock with four. But as soon
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: as we get the training camp, now it's start. You know,
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: you have to start paying down the rosters.
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: Send to your rookie quarterbacks, Dride, what do you like
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: about the way they sort of work together?
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: You're noticing anything just pairing them?
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: Yeah, you know they've had a history before. You know
- 1:08:38Speaker 8: those guys have you know that the quarterback check together
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: and I would also say, you know, Drake, he knows Jacoby.
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: He knew Jacoby before he even got here. So those
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: guys are working well together. And you know, the rookies
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: have that extra hour as well, so their accountability partners
- 1:08:51Speaker 8: both on and off the field. God one of the
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: guys on the staff.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Two guys in particular, local guys, Kobe Tippett and Benitapama.
- 1:08:59Speaker 6: What's your chief damage? You want the money staff?
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: Yeah, they're hard workers, and I think that first and
- 1:09:04Speaker 8: foremost has to be something that we focus on is
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: having guys grinders is what we call the guys that
- 1:09:10Speaker 8: really they're here at six o'clock in the morning and
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: they leave when work is done. Uh, they've they've done
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: a great job for us.
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: Just having so many coaches on the staff woman into
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: that as well.
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: Yeah, you know the thing about it, I mean, that's
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: an interesting dynamic or interesting conversation. So many coaches on
- 1:09:23Speaker 8: the staff. What I will say, historically we've always had
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: a small staff, and so now it feels like a
- 1:09:28Speaker 8: lot more coaches out here. But really that brings us
- 1:09:30Speaker 8: back up to par Realistically.
- 1:09:32Speaker 14: When you were rookie, you were obvious a high draft
- 1:09:34Speaker 14: pick and you kind of came into a leadership role
- 1:09:36Speaker 14: pretty quickly. I'm just curious with Drake the position he plays, obviously,
- 1:09:40Speaker 14: the leadership position.
- 1:09:41Speaker 6: How does he strike the balance.
- 1:09:43Speaker 14: Between fitting in as a young guy with a lot
- 1:09:45Speaker 14: of veterans around him, but also trying to eventually be
- 1:09:48Speaker 14: a leader here.
- 1:09:49Speaker 8: You know, honestly, that narrative of me coming in as
- 1:09:51Speaker 8: a leader of my first year is kind of off
- 1:09:53Speaker 8: in my opinion. You know, my my big thing was,
- 1:09:55Speaker 8: you know, be a sponge, learn from the Mike Vrabels,
- 1:09:58Speaker 8: the Tom Brady's, the Randy Mosses of the world. And
- 1:10:01Speaker 8: really like my leadership happened by those guys throwing me
- 1:10:03Speaker 8: in the room with Bill asking for no pads, so
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: so they knew I really cared about the team more
- 1:10:08Speaker 8: than I cared about myself. Because I say, coach, you know,
- 1:10:11Speaker 8: the guys are tired, they don't want to be in pass.
- 1:10:13Speaker 8: You know, eight times or eighty percent of the time
- 1:10:15Speaker 8: coaches like, get back in the locker room. But the
- 1:10:16Speaker 8: two times that he would say, you know, you're right,
- 1:10:19Speaker 8: You're probably right. I was a hero in there, and
- 1:10:20Speaker 8: that's where my leadership development really took off.
- 1:10:22Speaker 14: My first year are you looking for leadership traits from
- 1:10:25Speaker 14: him out here or are you just looking for those
- 1:10:26Speaker 14: sponge qualities.
- 1:10:27Speaker 8: I think you hit it on the head. You know,
- 1:10:28Speaker 8: you want to have a quarterback that has those leadership
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: traits if you want to go, you know, become the
- 1:10:32Speaker 8: team that you want to be. It's a guy who
- 1:10:33Speaker 8: touches the ball every single play. So you know, and
- 1:10:36Speaker 8: I will say this, you can develop leadership. Some people
- 1:10:38Speaker 8: have that natural leadership, but I do think it's a
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: muscle that you could develop.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Talk a lot about the rookies at this time of
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: the year, but from second and third year players, what
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: are some big jumps that you'd like to see from
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: them at this.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: Point this season?
- 1:10:47Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean though, I mean this is there's no
- 1:10:49Speaker 8: other point in their careers where they can make a
- 1:10:51Speaker 8: massive jump like they can going from year one to
- 1:10:53Speaker 8: year two. Like I mean, you look at the lineman
- 1:10:56Speaker 8: that we have going into the year two, Like we're
- 1:10:57Speaker 8: leaning on those guys to really make those jumps in
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: they have to take they have to really understand that
- 1:11:03Speaker 8: and put in the extra work. And once again they
- 1:11:05Speaker 8: have to you know, really like don't don't worry about
- 1:11:08Speaker 8: last year. Now you understand what we're trying to do
- 1:11:10Speaker 8: from a scheduling standpoint, from what you got to do
- 1:11:12Speaker 8: to go out there and play, And so we're looking
- 1:11:14Speaker 8: for those guys to make a huge sure.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: History.
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: I mean, I think it's a balancing act. And I
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: mean I think building a team, you don't want to
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: get too young. You want to still have some veteran presence.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: But but excuse do you hear that?
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: I also don't think you can turn it all over
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: to we haven't even eaten yet, Fred, What are they doing?
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: Matt's going to take care of business? It down? Why
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: this man must ties a bandana first? For some reason?
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: Like what is.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Rambo?
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: What is that lookout?
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: But I'm coming to get you, Yeah, Todd, I would
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: just say, though I think generally, you know, Paul and
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: I are the same page. It just like this team
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: has to get younger. They gotta get younger. And so
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: that guy's dead. Now everybody so.
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: Covered blood neutralizes the word. That fastest I've ever seen
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: you dispose of my body. That was impressive.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: All right back here and Patriots Unfiltered eight five five
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: pass five hundred is the ace ticket houtline, web radio
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: at Patriots dot com. It's the email address, it's deuced,
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: it's Tamara, it's Evan, Paul, myself, Matt and the booth
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: with a new control board. How's it doing? How's it
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: going in there?
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: I love this thing so much?
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Yeah, what can it do? Can it?
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: Took my phone to it earlier and played some music.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Oh nice, we need a profess.
- 1:12:44Speaker 9: We need a Matt Morel cam so that we could
- 1:12:47Speaker 9: have seen him like raising the roof just now.
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: I was just so excited at all.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: New toys.
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: Did they ever find the body mat of that guy
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: that you oft.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: Put him in the wall?
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: Good?
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: All right, all right, Webradpictes dot com. Let's get to
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: some of these emails. This is Joshua in Somersworth, New Hampshire.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: The schedule is obviously a hard one personally, as tough
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: as it is and as fresh as the team is,
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: I also don't see them really causing any damage. I
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: don't want to be this guy, but I'm going to
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Evan stop moaning if I'm going to. If they get
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: the second or third picked, I'll hopefully use it for
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: the O line after trading back for more capital. I'll
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: take another down year if it means they can use
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: one more draft to fill another spot that they need
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: to in order to become at least more than a
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: five hundred team.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: Wow, I don't know why I would moan at that.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: Oh man, I can't even think about the draft.
- 1:13:47Speaker 7: But I just hope that that, you know, even just
- 1:13:50Speaker 7: talking about when we were like what pick would they
- 1:13:51Speaker 7: begin next year, Like you just hope that there's a
- 1:13:53Speaker 7: little juice at the end of this year and then
- 1:13:55Speaker 7: it's like, you know, this year there was no juice
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: and you're getting the third overall pick, and it's you know,
- 1:13:58Speaker 7: you need to build around him and it's going to
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: be a process. But like next year, I'm hoping that,
- 1:14:02Speaker 7: like we got a guy that can really help a
- 1:14:05Speaker 7: prayer area of need, and this guy is going to
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: help us like really start to get to that next level,
- 1:14:09Speaker 7: not just like this is a box we have to
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: check because we just simply don't.
- 1:14:12Speaker 6: Have enough guys.
- 1:14:13Speaker 7: You know, That's what the hopeful, the excitement is going
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: to be. I mean there's no guarantee.
- 1:14:18Speaker 9: Yeah, it's like a CJ. Stroud type of year where
- 1:14:22Speaker 9: I thought player. I mean, that's what I hope, because
- 1:14:26Speaker 9: I feel like there were no like, obviously you knew CJ.
- 1:14:28Speaker 9: Strau was good and what he was capable of, but
- 1:14:30Speaker 9: you didn't know how he was going to pan out
- 1:14:31Speaker 9: in the NFL. You didn't know that he was going
- 1:14:33Speaker 9: to be able to carry the Texans to that point.
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: So it's hard to know. That seems lofty to me though,
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: like to think that he could do that, Like I think.
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: If you watched like and I think we talked about
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: it the night we played Houston in the preseason, if
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: you had told me that night that he's going to
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: be not only like leading a playoff team, but he's
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: going to be in the mix for MVP and he
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: was a legitimate, you know, fringe MVP candidate.
- 1:14:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I was really impressed with Nico Collins in that game.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: He well, Nico Collins and truck did he truck? Somebody
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: that nine trucks?
- 1:15:04Speaker 9: Somebody?
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: Tank Dell is someone that you know, I think that
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: a lot of people were really high on. But like
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: Nico Collins is a perfect example of you give him
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: a real quarterback and all of a sudden, Nico Collins
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: looks like a guy that can play.
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: I've said this a million times. There was nobody saying
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: they got a good young nucleus in Houston, got Nico Collins. No,
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: it was Stroud came in and suddenly, as Evan said,
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: the quarterback makes the receiver look that much better.
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: Yep.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think you can take it to the
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: bank right now that they're going to take a tackle
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: at that pick next year.
- 1:15:30Speaker 6: I mean defensive tackling.
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: No, sorry, Mike, the Patriots the one we're doing.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: Are you okay? Did you fold down?
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: We had so much fun in the draft this year,
- 1:15:40Speaker 7: were like quarterback quarterback, but you kne who it was
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: going to be, Like three months to go.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: We're gonna argue Will Campbell versus Calvin Banks for six
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: months and you're gonna like it.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: I'm gonna promise you right now, I shan't argue.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: With you what.
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: You've already got a favorite.
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: Not about that.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: Those are the two left tackles in this draft that
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: are both projected top ten picks next year, and one
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: of them is going to be.
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: I might argue with you that they should trade down.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: So you're going to be the leader of the tank
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: for tackle parade.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: That's all you're not tanking for a tackle, but it's
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: gonna happen. It's going to be pretty clear that that's
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: going to be the most clearing weakness on this team.
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: But to me, the best thing would be is if
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: you could get Drake May on the field and see something.
- 1:16:19Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, could you see because obviously you see injuries
- 1:16:22Speaker 9: happening all the time, and the first week of trading camp,
- 1:16:25Speaker 9: it could happen. Could you see like someone trading for
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: Bailey Zappy if they're they need to back up all
- 1:16:31Speaker 9: of a sudden, then we're getting a tackle in return.
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: No, not I can't see that. I see trading Bailey,
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: but another like you'd get a conditional seventh round pick
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: for him. But yes, I could see a trade, especially
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: the way Mao said that yesterday. That that really stood
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: up to me, Like I don't anticipate having four guys
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: come training.
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: Like what I mean, who else would it be?
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: Yea?
- 1:16:54Speaker 6: And I mean, well Bailey can last. If Bailly can
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: win me over in the next month.
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: Quarterback injuries have just been happening left and right, I
- 1:17:00Speaker 9: feel like the past two years, so you.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Just never know.
- 1:17:02Speaker 7: No, I know that's what the concern is, like that
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: kind of derails all the plans, right if all of
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: a sudden presets off and then maybe you got to
- 1:17:10Speaker 7: keep Zappi. But May isn't that far behind Zappy, and
- 1:17:12Speaker 7: you're kind of like, let's just put May in there
- 1:17:15Speaker 7: and let him work out the kinks rather than tread
- 1:17:18Speaker 7: and water with Bailey, Zappi Lawrence in Indiana.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: Now that we know more about strange in his status,
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: do you think we need to dip in the very
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: small free agency pool to maybe get another tackle for depth? No?
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: No, I mean I think they got enough offensively. There's
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: no talent out there that moves min year.
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: It's Donovan Smith and David Barciari defensive tackles. He's the
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: only thing that gets juices for.
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: You're talking.
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: To me with those two guys being available here, you know,
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: knocking on the door of June. I know Bactiaria said specifically,
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: he wants to keep playing. He's not coming off a
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: surgery for the first time and forever he feels like
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: he can play. Donovan Smith was out of the line
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: up late in the year, but then he came back
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: and he played the whole playoff run for Kansas City.
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: I don't know, if it doesn't go well with a
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: CORPS four, then you know, Bucktown.
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: That's how I answered it in the in the mail bag,
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: was that you know, like why not see if a
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: core four or Kayden Wallace can play left tackle? And
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: then if you get through this, you know, the the
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: off season spring camps and you heading to training camp
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: and you're, like Evan's point about like a corps Ford
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: feeling like that's going to be a long adjustment, then
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: maybe you go and see if those guys are available
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: when you bring one in. I don't know, but I
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: don't feel great about the left tackle spot. If Donovan
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: Smith is the left.
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: Tackle, I mean it doesn't feel weird too.
- 1:18:42Speaker 7: If a Coreford doesn't work out at left tackle, then
- 1:18:45Speaker 7: you're saying we got Michael when you over at right tackle.
- 1:18:48Speaker 7: You know, are we now just kind of sitting with
- 1:18:50Speaker 7: a core of four for no reason? Or do you
- 1:18:52Speaker 7: say when you goes back to the middle.
- 1:18:55Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: Tyler and New York City related question, can you expand
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: upon why it's harder to play one side of the
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: line than the other. It's just years of muscle memory
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: that needs to be flipped. Our assignments different from a
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: naive outside viewpoint. I just don't get it. I know
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: it's true, I just don't understand.
- 1:19:12Speaker 6: Okay, what's the test?
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: The best way? Give me that pen the Mario test.
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: That's a different thing. Are you ready or lefty? Lefty?
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: Write my name and lefty.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Right your name and lefty.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: Yeah, use your left hand and then write it and
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: writing yeah. Yeah, that's what it is, using your off hand,
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: like you're you're just everything is flipped. So now you're
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: outside hands, you're inside hand, you're inside hands, you're outside hand, right.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: So basically what That's what Dante Karnaki did with me
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: one time. He was like, what was you know? I said,
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: why is it so hard to flip?
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: He said?
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Are you right or left? He said, I'm writing? He said,
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: try doing everything lefty, yeah, and see if you can
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: do it.
- 1:19:51Speaker 7: I got another simple one, which is just cross your
- 1:19:53Speaker 7: arms and now cross them the other way. It's like, yeah,
- 1:19:59Speaker 7: you have to think about it.
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: So I've heard a lot about it, and I do.
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: I think it's a significant thing. And Bill has always said,
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: you know, some guys can do it seamlessly, but for
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: a lot of guys, it's really difficult to do, and
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: he always used Matt Light as the example of he
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: just couldn't do it. But I'm not sure that it's like,
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: you know, and listen, Dante is, you know, forgotten more
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: about offensive line play than I'll ever especially since I've
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: never learned any of it. He doesn't even want to
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: talk about the draft, like the dominant hand, Like, I
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: don't really understand how that factor is in like, is
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: every right tackle lefty? No, No, it's not about like
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: So it's not really like that, but it's how you
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: learned it. Yeah, it's how you learned it, right, But
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: it's not really like I can't write with the other hand. No, No,
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: but that's way harder.
- 1:20:49Speaker 9: No.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: But there's a certain sequence of things that you do
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: that you learn it a certain way, and now you're
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: being asked to flip everything you did that sequence. And
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: I can see where people that might be difficult.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: Oh, I could definitely see why. I'm not trying to
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: I'm not saying it's overrated. I think it's it's very hard.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I think it's a hard transition. I'm just not sure
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: that's the best analogy.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: I like, it's crazy, but like when I play tennis
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: and I'm returning a serve. I always have my right
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: foot a little bit in front, and if I were
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: to do the other way, it just wouldn't feel right right,
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: But I just think there's probably a lot more people
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: that would be able to successfully transition from right tackle
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: to left tackle, then they would be able to write
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: exactly the same with either on yeah.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Like I don't think that's a great no, Like I.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: I think you're just talking about the uncomfortableness and the
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: awkwardness of doing something with your offhand. The biggest thing
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: to me is you're actually your feet though when it
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: comes to tackle play, because you're driving off the opposite
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: foot now, and so you're trained to kick out with
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: in one direction all the time, and now the inside foot,
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: your post foot, is a different foot, so like now
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: you're you're kicking out, you know, in a different way.
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: And to that point, Isaiah Win blew out his achilles
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: his rookie year playing right tackle in a preseason game
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: because he had played left tackle at Georgia and then
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: he flipped over to right tack and now you're pushing
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: off the other foot. He pushed off his off foot,
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: blew out his achilles, So it's just things like that
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: are a big part of it. But to Paul's point,
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: there are guys that are true swing tackles that can
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: play both sides at a decent level. But I think
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: it's a little bit different when you're projected to start
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: on one side of the ball instead.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: Of it's hard. In the email er, I think he
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: kind of claimed that he was sort of a novice,
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: but I think he had it just sort of learning
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: how to do things on the opposite. I think it's
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: as simple as that, relearning everything.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: Louis writes in he says, love the show, but hey, Evan,
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: your takes Catch twenty two and all that, and I
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: love all that, but don't you think that's trying to
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: tell us how Patriot should run practice is a little
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: too much, especially this soon. I feel like these types
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: of takes or criticism causes problems and distractions for the team.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Hopefully Mayo was not paying too much attention to the criticism.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: But we can just calm down just a little.
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: Just my opinion, I'm perfectly calm, and I'm not like
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: telling him how to run practice. I'm just telling you
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: what I saw. Like we've watched Bill Belichick practices my
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: entire career. You know, Do said the same thing about
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: his entire career, and there was a difference there to
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: me about how things were running. That's all I'm telling you.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: I'm not telling you that they should all be fired
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: because they had a you know, of this opinion.
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: It's just that's what we saw. I can promise you.
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: Mayo is not spending any time listening to this.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Jordan Hawaii loved the show as always. I think there's
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: a lot of media overreaction going on here. For example,
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: Tom Current titles an entire podcast Drake may is third
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: string quarterback because he took the third sets of reps.
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: It's just ridiculous, unnecessary. It's day one of OTAs that
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: you guys see in their optional What we should be
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: excited about is Drake is the last to leave out
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: there with his new wide receivers. That's awesome. Additionally, I've
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: heard a lot of people saying the Milton has QB
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: one energy. What do you guys think about that? Oh,
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: does he have QB one energy?
- 1:24:22Speaker 6: I mean he looks the part.
- 1:24:23Speaker 7: I don't know if that's what that means, but he
- 1:24:25Speaker 7: looks I mean he looks like a quarterback for sure.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: I've decided though that when people email in about what
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: other people said, other beat writers that are not in
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: this room, I'm not touching it.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: That's what I've decided. Why did you hear something?
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: No, I just you know, Tom is obviously getting a
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: lot of flak for some of his Drake May takes,
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: and Tom's not here.
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: I don't know what he's saying. Yeah, I'm not going
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: to touch it. I'm not commenting on the practice for
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: obvious reasons. But I would just say I'm not really
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: as Tomorrow likes to say, I'm not here for the
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: criticism of the third string take praise for the last
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: guy off the field, take like okay, Like, those are
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: two different takes. One's very positive, one's very negative, and
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: you chose to really like and we should embrace the
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: positive one. I'm not here for that. I'm here and
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: I wasn't that practice. So I can't tell you either
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: of those takes, you know, with any kind of certainty
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: because I didn't see any of it. But I'm not
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: just gonna like embrace the thing that, oh that's really
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: good to hear, Well, that's great and I heard Phil
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: Perry talking about it, you know, and it's great. Well,
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: I don't know. Can't you spin it and say like, wow,
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: he's way behind because he didn't get any reps during practice,
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: so he had to stay out there longer. Like I'm
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: not ready to call it, and I'm not ready to
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: call it a positive without seeing it.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: I'm not gonna lie. That's where my head went to.
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: Get that work.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: I think he'd be out there regardless.
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: Probably Fred. But I again, when we see it, you know,
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: for fifteen straight days of training camp, I think you
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: can draw a conclusion from it based off one day.
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: One thing is not fair on one day. The other
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: thing is fair on one day because one thing is
- 1:26:07Speaker 4: positive and the other thing is negative. So I'm not
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: here to beat up on Tom Curran and I'm not
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: here to praise anybody who's going to get excited about
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: the other thing.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Speed writes in I'm with Paul Dante's comparison with handedness
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: seems off. Other more relevant lateralized behaviors can actually seem
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: easy to switch. Like if you have a foot you
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: tend to lead with when walking, as in taking your
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: initial step right footed, it's very easy to practice in
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: the opposite way, starting with the left foot. Well jeez, yeah,
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: but it's not so easy when the other person's three
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: hundred pounds and coming at you full speed. I don't know.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: I can just see. For some people it would take time.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: I could absolutely see it, and even to was it speed? Yeah?
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Did you ever like walk toward like a flight of stairs.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: Did you ever like consciously decide which foot you're using first?
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: No, you just do it instinctively.
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: But if you don't think about it, it's always the same.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Foot, exactly.
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: I'm going to be thinking about it if.
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: I know, and you have to. You have to think
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: about it to use another foot.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:27:07Speaker 7: If you see me just standing in front of stairs
- 1:27:09Speaker 7: like pondering life, that you'll know what I'm going through.
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: I'm like left foot, left.
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: Foot, defensive tackle, defensive tackle.
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: Can't need more, need to use the elevator, I guess.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Let's see, John, we have a lot of kind of
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: random I don't like those. We're John is formerly a
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Brocton now a Richmond resident. Let's see. He want to
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: uh us predict other players that might become available from
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: other teams, cuts and things like that. Trade that there, Yeah,
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: but it's more important question is, uh, does the Angelo's
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: and Papa Gino still exist up in New England. I
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: moved to Virginia about ten years ago and have no
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: idea if my local chain still exists.
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: Yeah, they merged, Yeah, they actually merged Hercules plus.
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's yes. But the Di'angela, they're.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: They're decree you saying between I missed the number nine
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: steak bomb. He's right, that number nine number was the best.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: It's like a steak who doesn't have mayo unless you
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: want to put it in.
- 1:28:20Speaker 6: He said.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: The sub scene is lacking.
- 1:28:22Speaker 7: Friends always got the crosshairs he's got.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: And Paul, did you ever go to talk?
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Did you ever get that traffic ticket settled?
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: Yes?
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: You did, Oh yeah, favorably.
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: No I paid it, Oh you paid it?
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Okay. Speaking of fast food, I went on a ran
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: maybe a week ago or two weeks ago that you know, uh,
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: Red Lobster should not call bank.
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: I recall they listened to this show.
- 1:28:50Speaker 10: I'm a little bit sad about that.
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: Biscuits people. People do talk about the biscuits.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Biscuits, that's why you go then, not a seafood place.
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: You're living in New England, now not eating at Red los.
- 1:29:06Speaker 9: You I don't, I mean I don't, but the biscuits
- 1:29:11Speaker 9: something this is like, this is offensive to me that
- 1:29:15Speaker 9: like you don't live in New England.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: The seafood capital of the world and eat at Red Lobster. No,
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:29:22Speaker 10: I don't eat they're up here. But like you're at least.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: Going you're least going to Legals or Skip Jackson.
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: At least that's high end. I mean, just go to
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: any shack on the cape and.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: To me that's the other Like that's low end. And
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: then the shacks are like the good stuff.
- 1:29:36Speaker 9: When you're living somewhere like South Bend, Indiana, like Red
- 1:29:39Speaker 9: Lobsters all you have now you just tap out.
- 1:29:42Speaker 6: But then you get food poisoning.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Don't go, don't go.
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: I'm not you can't go any biscuits.
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: People seem to like what your go to for seafood,
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: like what it depends like you're talking about what he's
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: talking about or what So if you ever what I
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: really like h up In It's only about an hour
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: a way. It's called Warren's really Good spot. And they
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: have a they have a parent, they have a buffet,
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: and then they also have a menu that you can
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: order off.
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: Of as well.
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: No no, no, no, like just more like salad and that
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: kind of stuff, but obviously the seafood comes off the menu.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: So I really like Warrens that that would be like
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: my seafood restaurant that you're talking about, like kind.
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: Of hole in the walls place fresh.
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: Yeah. If I had to pick like a chain, I
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: probably go to Legals.
- 1:30:28Speaker 10: I don't I do, like.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: Yeah, really good?
- 1:30:33Speaker 7: Think go got rid of my favorite thing, which was
- 1:30:35Speaker 7: like a baked seafood cast role, which I loved.
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: And really do you do like the North Shore at all?
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: Like Woodman's and Woodman's because a lot of people up
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: my way tell me, you know, Woodman's is.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: The place you go, like and then they go to
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: the clam like.
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: The anchor, like the anchor b like if you like listen,
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: it's really good. That's where everybody goes. It's kind of cliche,
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: but if you really want it, you go to the
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: you know, Woodman's too, across the street is the better.
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: I don't know, because I don't eah it's.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: Like go to Duff's. You know, No, I think Woodman's
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: it's expensive, you know, but it's it's the best fresh
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: fried you know, fried lobster, fried clam lobster. Yeah, dip
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: it in butter. Oh my god, Yeah, that's.
- 1:31:20Speaker 6: What do you got? What's your order for the fried food?
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: What do you get if I go to Woodman's or
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: just generally always because I've never seen fried lobster before,
- 1:31:26Speaker 7: I fried clams.
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: I think everybody gets.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: Well, they claim they invented the fried clam.
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: Always got more similarity to the anchor bar exactly, a typical.
- 1:31:37Speaker 9: Poles always a fried shrimp. Girly, I need a crab
- 1:31:43Speaker 9: cake and I need fried trump.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: You're Maryland, you're from down there.
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: I do like crabcakes. Casall.
- 1:31:50Speaker 7: There's two places in l a that both claim they
- 1:31:52Speaker 7: invented the French dip, which was you know, kind of
- 1:31:55Speaker 7: that classic story of like and then the sandwich just
- 1:31:57Speaker 7: fell into the gravy and I was like, I'll eat
- 1:31:59Speaker 7: it anyway.
- 1:32:00Speaker 6: But there's a couple of really good. Philips is the
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: one that I always went to, but in downtown only.
- 1:32:04Speaker 7: But it's sawdust on the ground, piece of pie. How
- 1:32:07Speaker 7: many times do you want it dipped in this? It's awesome.
- 1:32:10Speaker 7: I Mean that was one of my favorite places I.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: Saw us on the ground.
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not like it like you know what I'm talking.
- 1:32:15Speaker 7: I know what that's like how you describe a place
- 1:32:17Speaker 7: that's kind of you know, you order it the counter
- 1:32:19Speaker 7: and then you go ok.
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, good French dips.
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: Like those stories of like how things like weird food
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: things were invented. Yeah, that's you know, like wings, like
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: you know the wings that are like baked twice. Yeah,
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: there's a story that like the guy was sitting there,
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: they were cold, so he's like, oh, just like throw
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: them back in and then they just cover back out.
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: Yeah, if you fry him twice.
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: Another random question off season question, if you will Kyle
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: from Pembroke, which set of holidays are better cookout holidays
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day or theme
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: holidays Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. I personally enjoy the cookout holidays
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: because of the last could pressure from family and gift giving,
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: and the easygoing nature of just enjoying people's company.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: I agree, I would probably agree. I think they're very different.
- 1:33:09Speaker 4: Like I don't necessarily look at cookout holidays as holidays
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: per se, but I would much rather go to a
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: cookout than sit down in for dinner and have a
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: Thanksgiving me.
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: When are we going to do presents? We're gonna do presents. No.
- 1:33:23Speaker 9: See, my problem with those holidays, which I love those holidays,
- 1:33:27Speaker 9: is besides the fact that we have to work, is
- 1:33:30Speaker 9: that I'm.
- 1:33:30Speaker 10: Always grilled on are you talking to anybody? Are you dating?
- 1:33:34Speaker 9: Like?
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: When are you going to get family? Run down? Yes?
- 1:33:36Speaker 10: The family?
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: They asked Beth all the time. Are you seeing anybody? Why?
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: And why not?
- 1:33:43Speaker 9: See, that's my problem with the Thanksgivings, the Christmas. That's
- 1:33:46Speaker 9: those are the questions that are asked.
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I could see how that would be.
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: That would be tough, a mirror from Haifa Israel rights
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: in Hi tomorrow and all. I have a constant argument
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: with my wife. I wonder what your opinion is. I'm
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: an avid coke drink, avid coke drinker, but I will
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: not drink it once it reaches the bottom of the bottle.
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: She is mad that I keep throwing bottles away which
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: are like one fifth full. But I argue that there
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: is a clear marking on the bottle the lower curve,
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: after which it is simply not drinkable. Many many years ago,
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: my father took the almost empty bottles and merged them
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: into one, which to this day I consider a war crime.
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: My wife feels at me too. It's not with cans
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: like she does, not just coke. But she says, I
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: always leave like a little bit in the bottom, really never.
- 1:34:34Speaker 9: Finished, it's flat, throw it away, like if you drink
- 1:34:37Speaker 9: it right, yeah, yes, not.
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: If you drink pepsis that go to waste? If you
- 1:34:40Speaker 6: did that, I mean no.
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: I wouldn't even think.
- 1:34:43Speaker 9: Like the way though he drinks them, like he drinks
- 1:34:46Speaker 9: them fast enough to wear like it's not flat. But
- 1:34:49Speaker 9: for me, I feel like it's a single person. I
- 1:34:51Speaker 9: buy just like cans, the little minis, Yeah, because if
- 1:34:53Speaker 9: I buy the Leader, I think I am going to
- 1:34:57Speaker 9: end up four days five days in and it's flat
- 1:35:00Speaker 9: and I'm gonna have to throw away.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: I like those kinds of things, those those quirky things. Yeah,
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: like that, like won't have the bottom of the soda?
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: Or are you always set home with all the diet
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: PEPSI like after a party or something like that. Because
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: I just got got given three bottles of diet coke
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: by my family on Sunday.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: They're like, just give it to Evan Hill.
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: That doesn't count.
- 1:35:20Speaker 4: Do you not drink diet coke?
- 1:35:21Speaker 6: I just I will. It's so much worse than dietpeps
- 1:35:25Speaker 6: it is.
- 1:35:25Speaker 4: I agree, Fred disagrees, but it's there's a big difference.
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: It's a big difference.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: Coke is for adults and pepsis for kids.
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: I told you, I told your Fred would be in.
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: I mean, the two of us say pepsi, it's two
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: against one.
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: I'm on team mother.
- 1:35:43Speaker 10: But I will say that's only with soda.
- 1:35:45Speaker 9: So like if there's like a little bit of like
- 1:35:47Speaker 9: orange juice or something, I'm not going to throw away,
- 1:35:49Speaker 9: Like that's still fine.
- 1:35:50Speaker 10: But soa it's like.
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: Paul's had waitresses, you know, wrap up diet coke to
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: go after a meal, like.
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: Oh I love that.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: Ye give it to me in the like a little
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: plastic to go, Yeah, I would love that.
- 1:36:01Speaker 7: Well, it's commonplace with coffee, right, Like you can get
- 1:36:03Speaker 7: a coffee to go breakfast, right that, there's no problem
- 1:36:05Speaker 7: that's wrong with just hey, could you Paul.
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: You know after his like fill second leader. You know
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: he's got half a glass, you know, can you put put.
- 1:36:13Speaker 6: A cover on that.
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: I'll take it home.
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: You're not wrong, Like there are times when we do
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: Fridays with Finance up at Red Robin, a road they
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: gave us. All three of us, got a roady to go.
- 1:36:26Speaker 10: How does Red Robin's another one? How is that still alive?
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: Red Robin is not bad?
- 1:36:31Speaker 9: All you can the Bottomless.
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: The tavern Burger Burger, don't get the big burger, get
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: the tavern Burger's. It was a smash Burger before smash
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: Burger's got big.
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: Yeah, you know it all thing for everything, especially.
- 1:36:48Speaker 6: Where he last week it was Paddy Mounse.
- 1:36:51Speaker 7: He was going into the nuance of Patty Mounts and
- 1:36:53Speaker 7: now we're going into the nuance of of what is it?
- 1:36:55Speaker 9: Red rob I've never heard of a tavern Burger.
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I've only been to Red Robin couple of times,
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: but I think it's past.
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: It keeps fine. There's nothing wrong with the Red rob
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: But it's the only thing that's wrong with Red Robin
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: is the service. The service is awful. Oh well, you
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: have to come with us on Fridays with Finance because
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: we get treated like royalty.
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: They give you sodas for free.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: The thing about Paul the Bottomless, I do worry about
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: Paul because if you ever God forbid, if you ever
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: get into a car accident and they needed blood type.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: I don't know how they'd match diapeps You know it well,
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: says diapeps You really need to work shop. I'm working
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: on that one.
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you should have. You should have quit while you were.
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: I was formulating that and I just didn't come out right.
- 1:37:37Speaker 6: But you have to take the get the it's an
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: off season show. You never know what.
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: I drink a lot of diapepsia.
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: I'll have I'll have it ready by the rose, drill Rose,
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: So Cole strangers hurt.
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: He's back.
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: Wait.
- 1:37:52Speaker 9: Wait, so former Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker retired.
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, thirty one. It's thirty one years old.
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: Think that saves the Patriot. It's some money on the cap.
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: Yeah, not yet, No, unless he wants to give it back,
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: which would be very nice.
- 1:38:07Speaker 6: I don't know. Tweeted something about it.
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was a stipulation in his contract.
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: So it's three there, he's counting like three points something
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: against the cap and it's in salary. And so if he,
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: out of the niceness of his heart, said I didn't
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: earn this money and decides to give the check back
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: to the Patriots. Then it would save the money. No
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: player ever does that, So.
- 1:38:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I was talking. I was thinking more about the cap,
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: but I don't know that. I don't know all the parameters,
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: nor do I care.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: Kyler writes in another random question. With Denver out, would
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: you consider it a choke job if the Celtics don't
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: win a title this year? That's where I'm at right now.
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: Denver was the one team I was willing to accept
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: beating us. Now that they're out, There's no excuse to
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: not win the title this year. They've been the best
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: team all year, they have home court, they are relatively
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: healthy outside of KP. I acknowledge KP is a huge injury,
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: but I'm assuming he is coming back and will be reserviceable.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: So again I asked the question, how big of a
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: failure would it be if the Celtics fail to win
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: Banner eighteen? Is it their title to lose? Or am
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: I overrating this team?
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: I would have said it was a failure even if
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: they lost to Denver shall win.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I would have said that as well. But can
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: I reserve the right to change my mind based on
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: what happens in the conference finals? In both conferences, Like
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: you know, pusingis is out. You know, if someone else
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: gets banged up or something, I might look at it
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: a little differently. But yeah, I think that they should
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: have beaten Denver if Denver got there. And I think
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: they certainly should have an enormous experience advantage over Minnesota.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: I just don't think that much of Dallas. They should
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: roll Dallas if they play play the MAVs. Minnesota's good.
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: That's a good young team. I'm not telling you that
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: they're overrated. That's a good team. But I don't think
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: this should be ready to beat the Celtics in a final.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: They're very twenty twenty two Celtics, you know, like they
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: they're a little bit too young right now, but they
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: have the pieces in a nucleus.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: That that said, that was ridiculously impressive what they did
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: in the second half of that game the other night.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: I'm sure you didn't see it, Fred No, I did not.
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: They were down twenty on the road in a game
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: seven and just yeah, what was it like a fifty
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: six to twenty six run or something. They went on.
- 1:40:22Speaker 10: That's crazy.
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: With the season on the line, and they're best seven
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: on the road against the defending champs. Yeah, Anthony Edwards
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: was like two for eighteen. Yeah, I didn't even play
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: that well.
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: I think that you know, with Minnesota, they're a very
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: very good defensive team. That's like with their hallmark, that's
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: what they hang their hat on is they're a defensive
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: minded team. Offensively, they don't have the horses to score
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: with the Celtics, but they can muck the game up.
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: And some of the times the Celtics have tripped up
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: in the past and the playoffs have been Miami Golden
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: State teams.
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: That can just kind of muck us.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: They muck it up.
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: They just grind you down and played good defense and
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: make you earn it and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: So it would be a fun matchup. I'm appall though
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: if it's they should win win either way.
- 1:41:05Speaker 9: I was like, so like when they first started in
- 1:41:07Speaker 9: the playoffs, I was hoping that they would end up
- 1:41:10Speaker 9: playing the Knicks instead of the Pacers right now because
- 1:41:13Speaker 9: just the matchup would have been elite.
- 1:41:15Speaker 10: But obviously now with the Knicks being.
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: So hurt, Nix became the first team in NBA history
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: to lose a series six games to one.
- 1:41:21Speaker 6: The officials, did you crust this.
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: It was pretty funny because did you already do it?
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: Because I was gonna give him a couple of I
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: didn't text him on Sunday. I let it breathe on Sunday,
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: I let it breathe. Oh you should see.
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: The text of us Maria just he is.
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: He does like to give it so much trash top
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: he dishes the two of us. So I let it
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: breathe on Sunday. I didn't text him. Then I walked
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: up to him before practice on money and he's like,
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: it's okay, like you know, just like already I already
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: went into it, like I didn't even say anything yet
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: and he was already just you know.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: I do feel bad for him, like they just lost
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: every player. Me too.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: I was pulling for assault Snicks because that would have
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: been mainly because I wanted to, you know, have been
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: little office rivalry going on with Bradley, but it's a
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: I would just pulling for that series too, because I
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: I don't think the Pacers are going to give the
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: Celtics much trouble, whereas I think a healthy Knicks team
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: could have.
- 1:42:17Speaker 9: Given those tickets would have been crazy.
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: I think they're both going to be five games. But
- 1:42:22Speaker 4: to your point, I think the Knicks would have made
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: him work in the five games, whereas the Pacers were
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: just going to run up and down the court try
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: and out score them.
- 1:42:28Speaker 7: Well, funny story. I actually saw the Pacers in person
- 1:42:31Speaker 7: the ste If you guys have any questions, who's the
- 1:42:33Speaker 7: best player?
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: Burton?
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: There you go, nailed it, he almost led it.
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: Sticking with ever spent sticking with basketball Melvioyn and Tennessee
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: sweet kid. How good was Bill Ambier? He seems like
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: a solid Draymond Green of another era, but everyone just
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: really disliked him.
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: Good camp, I remember that good camp, like more nasty,
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: But that's just because you could. You you could actually
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: follow people and not get called for a follow. But
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: that's a good cops, a great villain.
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that. I was at the game when
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: Robert Parrish just hauled off and just punched him in
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: the face. It had enough.
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely don't know what happened Draymond Green is
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: that Detroit ball.
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: And neither one of them left. You know, it was fine?
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: I don't look at a rival on on Bill and
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: Bear's level.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: Though, because we didn't play the Golden State like every year,
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: like we did right. Sure, but he was a great
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: villain and I despised him.
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: Oh I remember you remember Johnny most was the radio
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: played by playing and I remember Godless Lambert hurt Bird
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: and Bird had to go out of the game, and
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: Johnny was.
- 1:43:53Speaker 9: They got what they wanted, They got what they wanted.
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: The Bird, oh.
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: Godless, Oh he was.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: Was so funny.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: I'm actually happy that the Nuggets lost, though I have
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: to get this take out there on Patriots unfiltered. I
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: don't I think the Nuggets, I said this to you
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: off the ear. Jokic, in my opinion, is bad for
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: the NBA. He's bad for the league because because he
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: doesn't actually care, like he doesn't actually care about basketball,
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: the memes about him. I just I personally think that
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: the face of the league should be like a hooper,
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: like a guy that lives in the gym, that puts
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: like you know, Lebron, Steph Curry, Michael Jordan, like those
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: guys were just like big time Jim rats. Jokic is
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: just happy that he gets to go back to Serbia.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: But are you like and I don't know. In full disclosure,
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: I'll tell you I don't know, But do you think
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: that that's a little bit overplayed that he really doesn't care.
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: I think it's a little bit overplayed.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: But at the same time, I'm not surprised that they
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: didn't go back to back because I don't think that
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: he's built for it.
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: But they certainly didn't not go back to back because
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: of him.
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: No, but I don't think that that team and j
- 1:45:00Speaker 3: General was built for And then the coach comes out
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: and he's he's the coaches an ass.
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: The coach is an ass, and Michael Porter did like
- 1:45:07Speaker 4: absolutely nothing the whole series, Like that's a killer.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: Melvin also wants to know what was Larry Bird's best
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: playoff series. I'm going back and watching basketball from the
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: eighties and I need a little help.
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: I have a I have a lot of I have
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: a lot of candidates. I would say eighty four Lakers series.
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: In the final, he was pretty pretty unbelievable when.
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: He stole the ball that.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: J That was the Pistons, right, the Pistons. One of
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: the best series that he played is a series they lost,
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: the eighty seven finals, I think against the Lakers. He
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: almost that was the Parish had the badly sprained ankle.
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: Michale had the broken foot and it was basically birred
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: against the Peak Lakers, and he came really close to
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: taking three games to two lead if they could have
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: gotten a rebound at the end of a game four.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: They ended up losing on the magic skyhook after Bird
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: had had hit a shot to put him ahead. They
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: should have had this stop. Yeah, but he was unbelievable
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: in that series all by himself. The Hawks one where
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: Game seven against Dominique, and Dominique had like forty eight
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: and Bird had forty something and Bird had like twenty
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: five points in the fourth quarter.
- 1:46:30Speaker 6: I used to watch basketball. I used so those days.
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: I remember there was I think it was it might
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: have been the eighty four season. I literally watched every game,
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: all eighty two games. Yeah, oh geez for the Celtics
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: because I will never do that. No, I was such
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: a Larry Bird fan.
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: Oh my god, I come pretty close.
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: I wouldn't say eighty all eighty two just because things
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: come up, you know, life that were I'm lucky if
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: I Patriots are playing or something that I can't but
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: I watched, I would say seven five of seventy seventy
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: five every year I mean, like from my whole life.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: Yeah. So, and that's the thing, you know, when you
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: watch as many games as I did, and as good
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: as Larry Bird was, he had some bad games, you know.
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: And so then you know, I listen to you know,
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: people on sports radio and everything when they you know,
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: get on Jalen Brown and you know, all Jason Tatum
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: and and you know, every game isn't going to be
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: forty points, you know, like even Larry Bird, the greatest
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: of the great, you know, the greatest of the great
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: Celtics had his bad games. You know, teams would just
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: do a good job on him or he wasn't one
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: hundred percent or whatever.
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: So yeah, there's a lot of there's a lot of
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: hate out there right now.
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Celtics. I mean they're waiting. They're lining up
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: for Jason Tatum. They're lining up, you know. But I
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: hope he does well. You will, Yeah, you got this.
- 1:47:54Speaker 4: I've never been more confident.
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: Matt and Madison, Wisconsin. Another random Uh, does any of
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: the Pew crew watch European football And if so, which
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: club do you support?
- 1:48:04Speaker 6: Ericton?
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not I'm not a religious watcher, but I
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: follow it. You know, like I know where the players are,
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: the main guys are playing now and all that stuff, but.
- 1:48:14Speaker 6: I don't I don't want to the main players.
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: Well, it depends on like now it's kind of turning
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: of a guard sort of speak, like you know, it's
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: sort of like football, Like no, it's sort of like football.
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: Well yes, but like he's in Miami.
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: Now, so no where, Like you know, the Brady's and
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: the Mannings and like those like Rinaldo MESSI like that's
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: my generation. Those guys are starting to get a little
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: old now and aren't necessarily at the peak of their
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: powers like Bape's. Like I think probably the best player
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: in the world plays for France and the world.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: But the guy from Manchester United, the blonde narrow like
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: he's great, Like, come on, you don't know him.
- 1:48:55Speaker 4: I don't talk about.
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: Somebody.
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: I'm sure I would know if you told me the name.
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: But yeah, United, the blonde we need matistis no.
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: I mean, he's one of the players in the world.
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: I am.
- 1:49:09Speaker 4: I'm not claiming to be a soccer guy.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: Alejandros, big blonde guy. Maybe it's not m you it's
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: it could be city, but just google blonde soccer he's
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: definitely in the Premier League.
- 1:49:22Speaker 6: Yeah, it's that blonde please soccer. I don't know.
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: Let's see. James Pettigrew says about left or right handed.
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: If it's any help, I can do most things easily.
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: Okay, that's why you're the most interesting.
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: Ambi dexterous spee again. Evan lecturing Tamara about local cuisine.
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: Didn't he eat McDonald's in Germany?
- 1:49:43Speaker 9: No?
- 1:49:43Speaker 6: That was me.
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: I did not. That was Alex and Matisa.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: I had McDonald's twice and show.
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: Don't throw me in that.
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: Wait.
- 1:49:55Speaker 10: Wait, did you get guys.
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: Either?
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: My guy went to the podcast, but I also had
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: the schnitzel.
- 1:50:02Speaker 9: Wait, but I will call out. I will call out
- 1:50:05Speaker 9: Evan on this. He was too good for German coffee.
- 1:50:09Speaker 10: He had to have star.
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: That's true, you recall that. I immediately texted Beth and said, oh,
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: you'd like Evan, but I what Star bars.
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: I'm sure it doesn't surprise anybody that I am a
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: food snob.
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: That's food, That's what I'm saying. Surprise anybody.
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: Patrick Patrick and Ottawa thinks I'm a food snob, he
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: says when Fred. When Fred speaks of food, it's with
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: such snobbery. Yes, there's no question he he channels the
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: soul of Eric.
- 1:50:38Speaker 4: You tell everybody, don't get this, get this. This is
- 1:50:40Speaker 4: the better.
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: I can't faker Fred.
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: I feel like Fred and I are on the same wavelength.
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: But he takes he does it a little bit more
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: than I do.
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: He's worse than you at it. Yes, smash before smash
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: Burger is the tavern burger. That's the one. That's the one.
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: You're wasting your time with. The whiskey river Barberine.
- 1:50:57Speaker 6: No't mayol on it, don't put mayo on it. Yeah,
- 1:50:59Speaker 6: mayo on it. Uh. Friend's always telling me not to
- 1:51:04Speaker 6: put on something.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: You don't put mayo on an Italian. But you don't.
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: I have to. I have to go team Fred here.
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: You don't put mayo on You can if.
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: You want, but then it ceases to be in it.
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: Now it's another sandwich altogether.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: I can tell why.
- 1:51:19Speaker 10: He's like, sign out, Wow, I've never heard this.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I've had oil vinegar Jimmy John's a long time.
- 1:51:29Speaker 10: Yeah. I was going to say, I'm pretty sure my
- 1:51:31Speaker 10: mom puts mayo on her.
- 1:51:33Speaker 2: And it's it's a it's a it's a cold cut sandwiches.
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: Now it's no longer in Italian.
- 1:51:39Speaker 6: What about ham and cheese?
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: You put male on that or just no, like people can't.
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: I would, I would go mustard, but you know, I'm like,
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: I'm not telling you how you.
- 1:51:49Speaker 6: Have to go spicy brown.
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: In Canton, Maryland, there is a place that serves a
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: tall boy natural bohemian known as a nat boy, with
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: a large lump of crab meat on the top of
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: the can and rimmed with old bay. It's the perfect
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: drink snack combinations.
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: And Natty looks like, yeah, at the sound of that,
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: I haven't.
- 1:52:13Speaker 7: Had nat I'm intimidated by all this crab eating that
- 1:52:16Speaker 7: goes on down there, because it always looks like they
- 1:52:17Speaker 7: have shells on them. And people you got and I'm like,
- 1:52:19Speaker 7: do you eat the shells like I don't. I don't
- 1:52:21Speaker 7: understand that soft shell crabs like you eat the crab
- 1:52:24Speaker 7: shell that hard part you chew? Tim is that I
- 1:52:27Speaker 7: don't people do.
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: In high school, if you lost the stickball game two
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: on two when the loser had to buy a case,
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: Natty light is always best. Natty light was always the
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: cheapest thing you could buy.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Yep, we used to drink this stuff called Whydaman. It
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: was six dollars a case.
- 1:52:46Speaker 4: You got screwed.
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: Well, I think that's what what Natty Light was.
- 1:52:49Speaker 7: I remember Natty Light being six bucks a six pack
- 1:52:51Speaker 7: back in college. And you do a power hour, which
- 1:52:53Speaker 7: is a shot of beer every minute for an hour,
- 1:52:56Speaker 7: and it would last you six beers.
- 1:52:58Speaker 6: And did you ever get you there?
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: Did you have a go for the second hour? No? No, no,
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: it's amazing how it hits you.
- 1:53:03Speaker 6: Oh no, I know right. It doesn't sound hard at first,
- 1:53:05Speaker 6: like beer.
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: We did it on New Year's Eve once. We were
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: like pregaming and we did it and we did like
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: the hour, and then I was like, let's do another hour.
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: We got like ten minutes in. I was like, I'm
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: going to have to stop.
- 1:53:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:53:14Speaker 7: When I was in like negative checking the end of
- 1:53:16Speaker 7: my freshman year, that was what I was resorting to.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: I'm like, you guys, go to the bar. I'm going
- 1:53:19Speaker 6: to Power Hour here. I'll meet you out at late night.
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: Power Do you guys ever have hef and reffer? Do
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: you remember that half? Yeah?
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: And everybody said it was the most potent beer that
- 1:53:28Speaker 4: was on the market.
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: I don't maybe at the time, so I thought it
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: was like urban legends. Yeah, no, it was. It was
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: pretty you know comparatively.
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: I had I think I had one.
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: It had the little riddles and the bottle caps.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: I don't remember that, con't recall.
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: Oh we drank some really pissed poor beer.
- 1:53:44Speaker 7: Well now you have like the IPA, like the high yeah,
- 1:53:48Speaker 7: the i pas with the high alcohol content. So it's like,
- 1:53:50Speaker 7: you know, like when when I was in high school,
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: it was ice, like oh, bud ice and those things
- 1:53:54Speaker 7: all came out because there was more alcohol and you
- 1:53:55Speaker 7: woul't have to like try to acquire more beer, like
- 1:53:58Speaker 7: you could just get by with a beer and a
- 1:53:59Speaker 7: half maybe.
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: But yeah, now it's all Oh, it's like we.
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: Was like thirty.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: It's like marijuana. Like the stuff that the kids smoke
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: now is like high octane.
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: Dirt.
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: Back then, I.
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: Feel like back then not so much. From the all depends.
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: We weren't smoking weed back in the day, were smoking
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: like it's like crack.
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: Yeah, class chronic.
- 1:54:23Speaker 9: People were drinking four locos, local good ones.
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: Yeah, wait for locals back.
- 1:54:28Speaker 10: I think they are back.
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: I think, but they're like they were well now.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: Or yeah they were, because it's like an energy drink
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: weedol and they banned it for like the United States
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: banned kids.
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: Some kids hard exploded or something.
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: Yeah, it's hard exploded. What are you gonna do?
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: Dan and Virginia Michigan says Paul Paul's blood is so
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: carbonated that if he eats mentos will explode.
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: That's a workshop line that you need to have. He says,
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: thank you all be here all week.
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: Veal Dan, that's a joke. Yeah, well, joke's a joke
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: right there and at the end his.
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: Look, that's the joke that Fred has been working on
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: for twenty two years.
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: Phelipe from Rio Denario says that the player I'm thinking
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: of his Holland. I think I think it his first Holland,
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: Tom Holland.
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: Mister Holland, h A L A N D.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: That's who that is who I'm thinking of. Idea Holland
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: back to Hooper. Yeah, he's from Man City, Man City, Okay.
- 1:55:27Speaker 4: Disturbing movie, by the way, it was Holland. I'm not
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: I'm not a big fan of that movie. What mister
- 1:55:31Speaker 4: Holland's opus.
- 1:55:33Speaker 6: Tug at your heart strings sort of ignored.
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: I didn't like that.
- 1:55:37Speaker 6: It's nice to everybody.
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: Like this big music guy his in his son's death
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: and he's like, oh, well, you know, no, you've valued it.
- 1:55:44Speaker 2: Igot, you didn't hear it. You say it was disturbing. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: you know, I thought you were. Remember the movie Manchester
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: by the Sea.
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: Well that was a depressing movie period.
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: Talk about disturbing. The best movie I never want to
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: see again.
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: I never want to light a fire.
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: I never want to see that be again. But it was.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: It was so good. Yeah, yeah, let's see, Jack, says Fred.
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: Shame on you. You have committed a sacrilege against the Celtics
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: by calling Larry Bird the greatest of the great Celtics.
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: As great as Bird was, he was not the greatest.
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: That honor belongs to Bill Russell. It's ridiculous that a
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: guy from Michigan is schooling you about your beloved Celtics.
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: That's up for debate.
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: Absolutely agree.
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: I mean, Bill Russell was the greatest defensive player for sure.
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: And the greatest winner in the history of team sports.
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: Greatest winner. But as an all around basketball player, I'll
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: take Bird.
- 1:56:34Speaker 7: Yeah, me too, especially your personal experience with I mean,
- 1:56:37Speaker 7: I think a lot of your like sports takes are
- 1:56:38Speaker 7: based on like I watched this like you know, Ray
- 1:56:40Speaker 7: Bor for me as on like a like a you know,
- 1:56:43Speaker 7: a pedestal that he probably shouldn't be.
- 1:56:44Speaker 6: But that's why I loved when I was a kid,
- 1:56:46Speaker 6: you know.
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: So I just think anything once you got to nineteen
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: eighties NBA basketball, like those guys would hold up in
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: the league today. I think Bill Russell would have would
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: hold up in the league today as like you know,
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: a athletic, you know, rim running five type of player.
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: But Larry Bird would be good. I mean Bill Russell
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: was only like six ' nine, right, that's my point,
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: Like the sixties were getting into a little bit touchy terry,
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: but he'd be able.
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: To play now for the reasons that Evan just said,
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: Like you don't have to be I mean, I know
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: prozingis is seven three, but you don't have to be
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: that anymore. There's no poet. You're not pounding you into
- 1:57:21Speaker 4: the post and trying to abuse six ' nine Bill Russell.
- 1:57:24Speaker 4: It's hockey.
- 1:57:25Speaker 7: The most jarring sport when you look back at what
- 1:57:27Speaker 7: it looked like in like the fifties, I think compared
- 1:57:29Speaker 7: to now, I.
- 1:57:29Speaker 4: Think they're almost all jarring. Yeah, you know, you watch
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: a basketball game from like the seventies or eighties, and
- 1:57:35Speaker 4: it doesn't look like the same sport.
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: You look at like two hand set shots.
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: One of the final series I think that Jordan was in,
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: Like there was like three three pointers or something like that.
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: Like it's just not even the same game.
- 1:57:48Speaker 2: El from Wisconsin. To be honest, I can trust Fred's
- 1:57:51Speaker 2: food takes ever since he said you should only eat
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: meat in rivioli. I don't know if he meant Kenna camp,
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: but that is true. Yeah, if there's don't meat in
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: the ravioli, then don't need it.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: What about cheese ravioli with meat sauce?
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: Okay, it's okay, there has to be meat involved paraphrase Fred.
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: If if there's meat in the ravioli, then it's not
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: a ravioli. Really, yeah, it's not. It's something whole.
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: It's Italian, so there has to be cheese and the
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: Italians also, that.
- 1:58:24Speaker 10: Is the problem with.
- 1:58:24Speaker 6: Oh yeah no, that's not really.
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: I mean again, I'm like Fred, I don't tell everybody
- 1:58:29Speaker 4: else what they should.
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: There's just a whole sub genre of stuff that we
- 1:58:33Speaker 6: just fried and it was great.
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: Like I don't need a lot of seafood, but I
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: can totally understand why people who do love it. Right,
- 1:58:39Speaker 4: it looks awesome.
- 1:58:40Speaker 6: You had a fried Snickers? No, but I'm sure are you.
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: Are you one of those Italians that calls it gravy?
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: Like it just gravy? Is it sauce?
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: I mean I call it gravy. But again, I understand
- 1:58:50Speaker 4: why people don't like.
- 1:58:52Speaker 6: It's from the old world.
- 1:58:53Speaker 4: It's regional. I get that sauce.
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: Tobias from Switzerland. The player you're looking for, Fred is Earling,
- 1:59:03Speaker 2: brought Holland from Manchester City. Absolutely, that is.
- 1:59:07Speaker 4: The got your guy?
- 1:59:08Speaker 2: Oh that's not my guy. He's good.
- 1:59:10Speaker 6: Claire chimed in with that too.
- 1:59:11Speaker 2: Yeah, hello, everybody is uh Jacket and Aubor. I live
- 1:59:17Speaker 2: in landlocked ann Arbor, Michigan. Although we have a red lobster,
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: I don't eat there. For seafood, ann Arbor has a
- 1:59:24Speaker 2: multitude of excellent options, including the Gandy Dancer, Pacific, rim
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: Monahan's Seafood Market, and JJ Crabhouse.
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: Yeah. I hate to break it to you know, it
- 1:59:32Speaker 4: doesn't I would think that in nowadays, with Lake Michigan,
- 1:59:36Speaker 4: you should be able to get food everywhere.
- 1:59:39Speaker 6: Yeah right, I know.
- 1:59:40Speaker 7: But if you don't smell the ocean. I feel like
- 1:59:43Speaker 7: I'm gonna get like seafood. I want to be near
- 1:59:45Speaker 7: the ocean.
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: But like seafood, you can order their stuff and have
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: it shipped anywhere and it's it's fresh.
- 1:59:51Speaker 10: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: I'm just gonna be a fred I'm gonna be a
- 1:59:54Speaker 3: snob about seafood and tell you if you're in a
- 1:59:57Speaker 3: landlocked state, you don't have good seafood, right, fair point.
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:00:03Speaker 6: You can get it, I'm saying, so you can ship it.
- 2:00:05Speaker 7: Yeah, they ship it, but you just you think about
- 2:00:07Speaker 7: the supply chain and then how long did it And
- 2:00:09Speaker 7: like we get scollops, you literally went out in the.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: Morning, caught the fish and put it on my plan. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:00:15Speaker 3: that's fun.
- 2:00:18Speaker 4: Absolutely, you don't know from seafood.
- 2:00:20Speaker 2: No, Barker's all right, all right, that's going to be
- 2:00:25Speaker 2: it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. When's Catch twenty
