- 0:01Speaker 1: Because fuck you, that's why, is a founding member of
- 0:03Speaker 1: the Odd Pods Media Network.
- 0:19Speaker 2: We'll be right back. Hey, man.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Welcome to BFYTW episode number 339. Now, there's nothing auspicious
- 0:45Speaker 3: about that number. Nothing that should tell you, hey, this
- 0:49Speaker 3: is a very special episode. But surprise, bitches. It's our
- 0:54Speaker 3: seven year anniversary.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we made it seven. Lucky seven, bitches. That means
- 1:00Speaker 1: we retire now, right? No. We're rich?
- 1:03Speaker 3: No, we're not.
- 1:04Speaker 2: We didn't do it.
- 1:05Speaker 3: We're not rich.
- 1:06Speaker 1: But we've done it longer than all the popular ones that.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Make millions of dollars.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:12Speaker 1: How have we not done it yet?
- 1:13Speaker 3: It's not fair. I don't know, genuinely. We should have
- 1:19Speaker 3: been mega rich and popular by now.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You would think.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Because we're funny as fuck. Like, no joke. With jokes. Anyway. Anyway. So,
- 1:29Speaker 3: as per usual, we are not doing anything special at all, too,
- 1:32Speaker 3: so this is just a normal episode. In fact, we're
- 1:36Speaker 3: doing it without Augie. Augie had games with minis he
- 1:40Speaker 3: had to play that was more important than our seven-year anniversary.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Which to be fair i get it i mean.
- 1:48Speaker 3: We pushed him hard into getting those pennies painted and
- 1:52Speaker 3: he has the right to fucking play with.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Right and so did patreon so thank you patreon for
- 1:57Speaker 1: berating augie.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I know i called twice i i.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I can't as much as i want to give my
- 2:05Speaker 3: hard time for not being here I get it.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I get it. I 100% get it. And like I said,
- 2:11Speaker 3: we usually don't, aside from announcing it, which we love
- 2:15Speaker 3: to announce it and say, hey, it's our sixth year,
- 2:17Speaker 3: it's our fifth year anniversary, it's now our seventh year anniversary.
- 2:20Speaker 3: We have never done a special show to commemorate it,
- 2:22Speaker 3: so why start now? Exactly. But we did do one
- 2:25Speaker 3: special thing. We got somebody who's been with us for
- 2:28Speaker 3: most of the ride. He's stepped in for Augie very kindly.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Please welcome DJ Xanthus. Hi, buddy.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Hey, what's going on, gentlemen? How are we doing?
- 2:37Speaker 3: What's up? What's up? Are you excited to lose today?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Always. Wow. You know what?
- 2:44Speaker 1: I would.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I'm not being mean.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm just looking at the odds. That's all.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Can I throw out a postulate, though? You said that,
- 2:54Speaker 2: you know, Augie's not here. Technically, he wasn't here for
- 2:56Speaker 2: episode one. So I think it kind of works.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I mean. I mean, yeah. Jorge is technically with us.
- 3:03Speaker 3: He's in the same room as Stevie right now, I think.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah. No.
- 3:08Speaker 3: CB's not recording from the studio?
- 3:10Speaker 4: No.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I left Jorge down in the studio by himself in
- 3:16Speaker 1: the dark.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's literally just me and CB.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I've been listening to a lot of Tool lately, if
- 3:23Speaker 2: that means anything.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:25Speaker 3: I mean, you can be a Jorge stand-in. It's fine.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Incredible oh my god yes happy seven years.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Happy seven years i'm.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Glad we don't do anything like that that's fucking great we're.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Just like whatevs whatevs agreed agreed well shall we get
- 3:48Speaker 3: to it i think so sir yeah yeah uh like
- 3:51Speaker 3: i said this is going to be uh an absolute
- 3:54Speaker 3: uh gem of a show We are doing a standard show,
- 3:59Speaker 3: but they all have something to do with our seven-year anniversary.
- 4:04Speaker 3: For example, our first game is going to be Like
- 4:06Speaker 3: Share Block. Oh, I'm getting into the games. I haven't even.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Barely done introductions.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That's fine if you don't want to.
- 4:13Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Listen, it's been a part of our show for seven years.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Has it? I don't fucking do it.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Seven years?
- 4:20Speaker 3: I always ask a question, literally from the very first
- 4:23Speaker 3: fucking episode we did this.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 3: So I'm going to ask a question. Stevie, what has
- 4:29Speaker 3: been the biggest positive impact to your life over the
- 4:33Speaker 3: past seven years? You're not allowed to say this podcast.
- 4:39Speaker 1: That was my answer.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I'm going to say that it could be something that
- 4:44Speaker 3: happened as.
- 4:44Speaker 1: A result of the podcast. It will, and it is
- 4:48Speaker 1: 100% the result of the podcast. Not only has it
- 4:50Speaker 1: strengthened Aaron, you're in my friendship, more doing this show. Obviously,
- 4:55Speaker 1: we get to see each other a lot more, as
- 4:57Speaker 1: it does with Augie, even though I live with the man.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Doing the show brings a different part of that relationship
- 5:03Speaker 1: to all of us and shit. And in doing so,
- 5:05Speaker 1: we got to experience so much stuff that we never
- 5:09Speaker 1: would have together if we never did this show. So
- 5:12Speaker 1: over those seven years, we've traveled to multiple states just
- 5:17Speaker 1: either to fuck around, to hang out with people, or
- 5:20Speaker 1: even to do the show. But it all started because
- 5:22Speaker 1: of this goofy little thing we started with Jorge and
- 5:24Speaker 1: shit in this fucking kitchen.
- 5:27Speaker 3: So you would say... All the coolness. Our travels.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Yes, the travels and, yeah. Yeah, 100%. I like that.
- 5:34Speaker 1: The friendships that grew from that, yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I like that. DJ, CJ, whatever.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Timothy, if you could pick one thing that is.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Most positively impacted your life over the past seven years,
- 5:51Speaker 3: what would that be?
- 5:52Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it's honestly similar to Smoke's answer,
- 5:55Speaker 2: and I hate to do that to you, but for me,
- 5:57Speaker 2: it's a little bit different. It's the community that I've built.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I did not really know anyone outside of New Jersey.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And and, you know, I blindly threw a request out
- 6:06Speaker 2: to to the world of Kevin Smith about wanting a co-host.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And Rico from Oakland responded and I met him. And
- 6:15Speaker 2: then in between, I've run into you guys and the
- 6:17Speaker 2: gatekeepers and, you know, on all these different shows that
- 6:21Speaker 2: we all interact with on a regular basis. All people
- 6:24Speaker 2: I would consider friends and friends. It's a very cool
- 6:28Speaker 2: network to have. Like, we are a very awesome and
- 6:31Speaker 2: fucked up support system for every other... But I mean
- 6:35Speaker 2: that in the best way, because, like, I think if
- 6:37Speaker 2: any of us needed something, we could call the other...
- 6:39Speaker 2: Even if it was just an ear, I think we
- 6:41Speaker 2: could call anyone in that network. And that's a very
- 6:43Speaker 2: cool thing to have anywhere. And that comes from me
- 6:48Speaker 2: doing my show, which interacts with your show, because if
- 6:50Speaker 2: I'm not doing Pot of Skew, I don't need smoke,
- 6:52Speaker 2: and I'm not sitting here today.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Fuck that noise.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, it's insane. I mean, shout out to Chris Kim.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, Chris Kim. OC.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I'm your host, Pants to Zarin, and my answer to
- 7:10Speaker 3: that question would almost have to be, like, the friendships
- 7:13Speaker 3: we've made, 100%. Like, we have some incredible friends in
- 7:18Speaker 3: our BFYTW community, our Patreons, everybody. But I mean, as
- 7:24Speaker 3: far as like directly impacting my life, I feel like
- 7:27Speaker 3: the biggest answer I can give is my friendship with
- 7:31Speaker 3: the Ultra Hope Girls. Yeah. Because we had this podcast,
- 7:37Speaker 3: I found them through my fandom of Danganronpa, which has
- 7:40Speaker 3: nothing to do with BFYTW. But the fact that we
- 7:43Speaker 3: both had podcasts made it easy for us to collaborate
- 7:45Speaker 3: and do projects together, which literally led to me writing
- 7:50Speaker 3: the book. which has now literally led to doing all
- 7:55Speaker 3: these book events and making a decent backup, like an
- 8:01Speaker 3: addition to my salary, which is so nice. For every
- 8:05Speaker 3: event I do, I seem to make $ 100 to $ 200
- 8:06Speaker 3: just selling books, which is very nice. It's additional income,
- 8:12Speaker 3: and it's a lot of fun to do. Most of these,
- 8:14Speaker 3: the last one sunburned the shit out of my head.
- 8:16Speaker 3: So I'd like to avoid that one.
- 8:18Speaker 2: In the future.
- 8:19Speaker 3: But I have to say that the positive impact of
- 8:23Speaker 3: that friendship went places I didn't know. I couldn't have imagined.
- 8:28Speaker 3: So like, yeah, I'm a fucking author now. Like that's
- 8:32Speaker 3: it still blows my mind to think about. And it
- 8:35Speaker 3: wouldn't have happened if it weren't for this podcast and
- 8:38Speaker 3: those ladies. So. Everybody– I'm not trying to shaft anybody else.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I'm just saying they were the trigger for– since then,
- 8:47Speaker 3: like Kristen and Aaron have been immense supporters of me
- 8:51Speaker 3: continuing to do my writing and pushing my books. And everything.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Other people, Colin, Mexico, and like almost everybody has stepped
- 9:00Speaker 3: up at some point to help me push this and
- 9:02Speaker 3: make it bigger and better. And like it's deeply, deeply appreciated.
- 9:06Speaker 3: But I'm just talking about the trigger that started it all. Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 3: The one thing that absolutely created this mammoth shift in
- 9:14Speaker 3: my life's trajectory, which is still crazy to think about.
- 9:18Speaker 3: So that is my answer. It's been a wild seven years.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Let's get to it, shall we?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yes, games.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Games!
- 9:25Speaker 3: Like I said, our first game is going to be
- 9:27Speaker 3: Lakeshare Block, but theirs is going to be a very
- 9:29Speaker 3: special Lakeshare Block because all of these stories are from 2019,
- 9:32Speaker 3: the year in which we first.
- 9:37Speaker 3: The year in which we first started this podcast, all
- 9:39Speaker 3: these stories are from seven years ago.
- 9:41Speaker 1: That's awesome. Holy fuck.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Before you get in this, can I just say that
- 9:47Speaker 2: on your last episode, you played the same game I
- 9:49Speaker 2: played along when I watched and got all of them wrong.
- 9:52Speaker 2: So I'm excited to do that again. Let me tell you.
- 9:55Speaker 3: OK, I'm excited to see what you say. And you
- 9:57Speaker 3: know what? Because you're our guest. I'll give you the
- 9:59Speaker 3: first pick.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Oh, great.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So let's go over our stories one by one before
- 10:03Speaker 3: we talk about picking anything. Story number one, fortune teller
- 10:08Speaker 3: makes 2019 predictions using asparagus. Awesome.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Asparagus is awesome.
- 10:14Speaker 3: So her name is Jemima Packington. Um, she stands over, uh,
- 10:20Speaker 3: like a white sheet that is, uh, just laid out
- 10:23Speaker 3: on the grass. Um, she raises her arms to the
- 10:26Speaker 3: sky with the, her instruments in her hands. Right. And
- 10:30Speaker 3: then she just lets them go. And, uh, the, the
- 10:35Speaker 3: small green spears fall from her hands and tumble to
- 10:37Speaker 3: the sheet and the mixture of positions, the shapes that
- 10:41Speaker 3: they form, tell her something that only she can read.
- 10:46Speaker 3: She is the Esperomancer.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And here's the sick part.
- 10:50Speaker 1: She has an 80 to 90% accuracy rating.
- 10:53Speaker 3: No shit.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Her predictions have been remarkably accurate and then have been
- 11:06Speaker 3: documented on television numerous times.
- 11:09Speaker 1: What? That's awesome. Instead of reading bones, because you've got
- 11:12Speaker 1: to kill a chicken for that shit, she's using asparagus.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Is it cooked asparagus or raw asparagus?
- 11:17Speaker 3: I don't know. I assume it's raw. Is she vegan? No.
- 11:24Speaker 3: She literally picks a handful of asparagus tips, tosses them
- 11:27Speaker 3: in beer, and reads the shapes. that they form when
- 11:30Speaker 3: they land. She says she started doing this when she
- 11:32Speaker 3: was about eight years old. She inherited it from her
- 11:35Speaker 3: great aunt who used to read tea leaves.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Okay. She just didn't want to eat her asparagus at
- 11:42Speaker 2: eight years old, threw it on the floor and went, Oh,
- 11:45Speaker 2: look what it says.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Look what it says. It says asparagus is bad for
- 11:48Speaker 1: me to eat, but good for me to read.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And I think the best thing about her, and I
- 11:54Speaker 3: hope she's still doing this seven years later, She she said,
- 11:57Speaker 3: I take what I do seriously, but I never take
- 12:00Speaker 3: myself seriously. Oh, so so she she will may do
- 12:05Speaker 3: her earnest best to make the most accurate possible predictions
- 12:09Speaker 3: based on what she reads in the asparagus. But her
- 12:12Speaker 3: her Twitter feed from 2019 is apparently just very approachable.
- 12:17Speaker 3: light and witty. She's not making any sort of aspersions
- 12:21Speaker 3: to being the next Mr. Thomas or anything. I think
- 12:24Speaker 3: she finds it as silly as everyone else might.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Well, I can tell you right now, she's still doing
- 12:30Speaker 1: it in 2026. I just checked to find out. She
- 12:33Speaker 1: is still doing it. She has a little example. She's
- 12:37Speaker 1: teaching classes of it and stuff now.
- 12:39Speaker 3: 2026?
- 12:41Speaker 2: What's that? Like, where are what?
- 12:46Speaker 1: Where are we?
- 12:48Speaker 3: I would like to forget it as well.
- 12:50Speaker 1: That's funny, though. That's awesome.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Here are some examples of things that she predicted back
- 12:57Speaker 3: in 2019, and I don't know if they've come true
- 12:59Speaker 3: or not. You'll have to be the judge. The first
- 13:02Speaker 3: one was that fears over Brexit would prove largely unfounded.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I think that one she missed on. I think Brexit
- 13:08Speaker 3: did have a pretty negative impact. The trade war between
- 13:13Speaker 3: China and the U.S. would end. Technically, that was true
- 13:17Speaker 3: in 2019, but I think somebody reinstated it.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Stupid ass second term um big brother big brother would
- 13:25Speaker 3: return to screens despite uh channel 5 declaring the winter
- 13:29Speaker 3: 2018 series to be the last i don't know about
- 13:31Speaker 3: that i couldn't give a shit about big brother um
- 13:34Speaker 3: extremes of temperature extremes of temperature become the norm that
- 13:37Speaker 3: 100 has happened yeah yeah um oscar success for a
- 13:41Speaker 3: star is born again success uh british actors would also
- 13:45Speaker 3: be in the mix i'm pretty sure that's true um
- 13:48Speaker 3: and asparagus will see an all-time high in sales.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Everybody's throwing you up in the sky. Maybe.
- 13:56Speaker 3: People might start taking it up. I don't know.
- 13:59Speaker 2: That gives you a definition of making a green rain, really. Yes.
- 14:07Speaker 3: That's funny. People ascribe her divination with asparagus akin to
- 14:13Speaker 3: casting sticks, which Nordic folks used to do to read runes. So...
- 14:21Speaker 3: It could very well come from a place that existed
- 14:26Speaker 3: before just throwing vegetables in the sky. She was eight
- 14:33Speaker 3: years old. It's just what I pictured. Like I.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Said, she didn't want to eat them, so she threw
- 14:40Speaker 2: them on the floor and went, ooh, look, isn't that something?
- 14:47Speaker 3: All right, shall we move on to story number two?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yes, please.
- 14:52Speaker 3: All right. Story number two. Florida man steals over 70
- 14:56Speaker 3: pool floats. Take a wild guess why.
- 14:59Speaker 1: 70 pool floats. Oh, my God.
- 15:03Speaker 3: He's making a raft.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Where is he going? To get off Gilligan's Island.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I love that guess. I love that guess for how
- 15:10Speaker 3: wrong it is. Brevard County Times reported multiple break-ins and
- 15:15Speaker 3: pool flotations devices missing back in 2019. At least 13
- 15:20Speaker 3: burglaries were reported in the area over the past seven months.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Some areas were damaged and screens cut in order for
- 15:28Speaker 3: the suspect to steal the pool toys. The gentleman had
- 15:35Speaker 3: been suspected of the crimes having been seen in the area,
- 15:38Speaker 3: and on June 13th, 2019, he was arrested for suspicious activities.
- 15:46Speaker 3: What was he doing? He was innocently riding his bike. However,
- 15:48Speaker 3: he did have a white trash bag that was completely
- 15:51Speaker 3: filled with deflated pool floats at 1.30 a.m.
- 15:55Speaker 1: In the morning. Is he just taking them or is
- 15:59Speaker 1: he like stabbing them and deflating them and taking them?
- 16:02Speaker 1: Like that's fucked up.
- 16:03Speaker 3: They were all deflated.
- 16:06Speaker 1: But not like pierced, right?
- 16:07Speaker 3: Does anyone want to take a real guess as to
- 16:09Speaker 3: what he was doing with them?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Oh, no. He was doing dirty things with them, wasn't he?
- 16:16Speaker 3: He explained to the police that he was sexually gratifying
- 16:19Speaker 3: himself with the floats.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Because if you get a little lube on those things,
- 16:23Speaker 1: they don't stop sliding.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Oh, Jesus.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It's not fucking wrong. It's science, Aaron. Science.
- 16:32Speaker 2: How do you know that?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Wind resistance classes in Texas.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Sure.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Sure. He was arrested for burglary of an occupied dwelling
- 16:48Speaker 3: in petty theft and booked into jail on a $ 15, 000 bond.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Holy shit. $ 15, 000?
- 16:54Speaker 3: What the fuck? I kind of love this line. No
- 16:58Speaker 3: word yet if any of the victims who were burgled
- 17:00Speaker 3: from want their property back.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:04Speaker 1: No, you can cut me a check instead.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you can keep that. Yeah, I'm good.
- 17:10Speaker 1: You defile it. You own it now, pal.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Oh, that's funny.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 17:17Speaker 3: All right. So let's move on to story number three.
- 17:20Speaker 3: All right. Anybody remember the sitcom Sister, Sister?
- 17:24Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 17:25Speaker 1: The twin sisters.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Story number three. Tia Mowry tries to heal her twin
- 17:32Speaker 3: with breast milk. Works? Question mark.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Her breast milk?
- 17:39Speaker 3: Yep. Sorry. I mean, it is nice to know that
- 17:44Speaker 3: at the age of the ripe young age of 40,
- 17:47Speaker 3: that they can still be breast. I mean, best friends.
- 17:57Speaker 2: So nicely done.
- 18:00Speaker 3: So Tamara, Tamara Mowry Housley had recently become ill back
- 18:07Speaker 3: in 2019. Her search for a remedy led her to
- 18:11Speaker 3: her sister, Tia, who was pregnant at the time. And
- 18:16Speaker 3: instead of home remedies like herbal teas, honey and garlic
- 18:20Speaker 3: or Anything else that makes even slightly more sense. Tia
- 18:24Speaker 3: offered her her breast milk.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I'm assuming the vitamins.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Now, Tia claimed to have found an article about the
- 18:33Speaker 3: healing properties of breast milk. And the American Pregnancy Association
- 18:37Speaker 3: says that breast milk for newborns contains the perfect combination
- 18:41Speaker 3: of proteins, fats, vitamins, and carbohydrates. Which is essential for
- 18:45Speaker 3: their development.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Yes.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Adults, however, break these nutrients down differently. And there's no
- 18:53Speaker 3: scientific justification for any health benefits for breast milk. However,
- 19:01Speaker 3: Tamara reported, not only was the milk delicious, but she
- 19:06Speaker 3: did feel better. So, yay. With the evil effect?
- 19:12Speaker 2: So, wait a minute.
- 19:14Speaker 1: So she's got like her kid on one tit and
- 19:17Speaker 1: then her sister on the other?
- 19:18Speaker 3: I'm hoping she puns.
- 19:24Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Tia wrote, she's sicky poo and I sent her an
- 19:30Speaker 3: article on how breast milk has healing properties and I
- 19:33Speaker 3: was okay with her drinking my breast milk.
- 19:35Speaker 2: P.S.
- 19:36Speaker 3: She's had some before. And I mean, she's my twin. Which,
- 19:41Speaker 3: you know, fair. It's kind of like drinking your own,
- 19:44Speaker 3: to be fair.
- 19:45Speaker 2: No, no it's.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Not your your own individual each individual's different no it's.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Not and in a video tamera said oh my gosh
- 19:54Speaker 3: tia this is amazing your breast milk is the best
- 19:57Speaker 3: milk i've ever tried in my life oh my god.
- 20:06Speaker 1: As fucked up as this is, I kind of want
- 20:08Speaker 1: to go back and watch the second episode of Sister
- 20:10Speaker 1: Sister just once.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Why the second episode? That's a weird pick.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Actually, I'm not going to say why. Go check it out, audience.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yep. Yep.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Are they drinking breast milk?
- 20:23Speaker 1: I'm not saying, but it's going to be kind of
- 20:25Speaker 1: funny after this conversation.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Oh, Jesus.
- 20:29Speaker 3: All right. Well, um, that's our three news stories.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Um, Oh, my gosh.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Fortune Teller makes 2019 predictions using asparagus. Florida Man steals
- 20:40Speaker 3: over 70 pool floats for sexy times. Tia Mowry tries
- 20:44Speaker 3: to heal her twin sister with breast milk, and maybe
- 20:47Speaker 3: it works. Simothy, Jimothy, you have the first pick. Which
- 20:52Speaker 3: one would I have chosen to like, share, and block?
- 20:57Speaker 2: May I have some points, sir? No, anyway, because I
- 21:01Speaker 2: swear that name sounds like it's out of a Charles
- 21:03Speaker 2: Dickens novel of some sort. I thought I knew, honestly,
- 21:10Speaker 2: until you read that last story and it threw things
- 21:13Speaker 2: off because I had a pretty good idea. But I'm
- 21:18Speaker 2: going to stick with my gut, I think, and stick
- 21:21Speaker 2: with where I was going.
- 21:22Speaker 1: That's always helped you in the past.
- 21:24Speaker 2: No, it hasn't. it has rarely helped me um my
- 21:33Speaker 2: winning percentage would tell you that uh i won no
- 21:38Speaker 2: two i have two.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Two percent two percent sorry no.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Two wins oh two wins um anyway my so i'm
- 21:47Speaker 2: gonna go with you would share the asparagus story You
- 21:52Speaker 2: would block the pool float defiler, and you would like
- 21:58Speaker 2: the Tia Tamara thing with the breast milk just because
- 22:01Speaker 2: of the ridiculousness of it.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Okay. Stevie, you may keep one of those and swap
- 22:08Speaker 3: the other two, or you can go entirely your own way,
- 22:11Speaker 3: but you cannot have the same three.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I'm going to probably... Oh, man. it's funny okay i'm
- 22:20Speaker 1: going with sorry i'm just thinking of the scene um
- 22:25Speaker 1: no that's fair yeah uh uh let's go with black
- 22:28Speaker 1: in the florida man okay.
- 22:34Speaker 3: So you're gonna swap the other two you're gonna like
- 22:36Speaker 3: yeah uh the asparagus and you're gonna share the milk.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah that's where i was kind of going so i
- 22:41Speaker 2: think you might have me there but yeah Well.
- 22:44Speaker 3: He doesn't. Because, Timothy, Jimothy, you got it exactly right.
- 22:49Speaker 3: That is one episode point to you, sir. Congratulations.
- 22:52Speaker 2: And that will be the only episode point that I get.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Here's hoping.
- 22:57Speaker 3: We'll see about that. We're going to go to a
- 23:01Speaker 3: short break, but when we come back, we're going to
- 23:02Speaker 3: play game two, which is worth two episode points. They
- 23:05Speaker 3: might go to Timothy, Jimothy, or they might go to Stevie.
- 23:07Speaker 3: We're about to find out right after this.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Greetings, fellow nerds. It's Garrett, your host of The Nodak Nerd,
- 23:22Speaker 4: part of Odd Pods Media, the podcast where we explore
- 23:24Speaker 4: the vast realms of geekdom. From the latest superhero flicks
- 23:28Speaker 4: to retro video games and everything in between, we've got
- 23:30Speaker 4: you covered. Join me for insightful reviews, hilarious discussions, and
- 23:34Speaker 4: maybe even a few heated debates. Find The Nodak Nerd
- 23:37Speaker 4: wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Let's get nerdy. The Nodak Nerd.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Hey man, welcome back. It's time for game two. Uh,
- 23:55Speaker 3: game two is going to be pop culture fight club.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Now this, this was not a game that we played, um,
- 24:03Speaker 3: on our first episodes. In fact, um, we were, we
- 24:06Speaker 3: were gifted this game by a longtime listener of the show,
- 24:09Speaker 3: Colin Maggs. Uh, so to honor him and him, he,
- 24:14Speaker 3: I think he was with us almost from the beginning. Um, so, uh,
- 24:17Speaker 3: I wanted to shout him out by including this game, um,
- 24:21Speaker 3: And it basically is simply, I'm going to give you
- 24:25Speaker 3: guys something from pop culture that you're going to take
- 24:28Speaker 3: a stand on. You're going to choose something that is
- 24:31Speaker 3: your best or your favorite thing, and then I'm going
- 24:33Speaker 3: to have you defend it. Your opponent can try and
- 24:36Speaker 3: attack it by asking you questions to try and worsen
- 24:41Speaker 3: your position, but you will have the opportunity to defend yourself.
- 24:46Speaker 3: And the player who more successfully convinces me that they
- 24:49Speaker 3: are correct is wins the game and earns two episode points.
- 24:52Speaker 3: So in honor of BFYTW's seven years of silliness and games,
- 24:59Speaker 3: this Pop Culture Fight Club's question is, what is the
- 25:03Speaker 3: best single moment of the last seven years of BFYTW?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Oh, damn.
- 25:12Speaker 3: What one joke, news story, game, or spontaneous event... during
- 25:18Speaker 3: the recording of the past seven years has stuck in
- 25:23Speaker 3: your mind as your favorite thing that has ever happened
- 25:27Speaker 3: as a result of this show. You cannot choose a
- 25:31Speaker 3: broad topic or theme. For example, you can't say, Oh,
- 25:34Speaker 3: the friendships made along the way. Let's let's suck all
- 25:37Speaker 3: our fans. You cannot do that. This has to be
- 25:41Speaker 3: a single moment, a single thing that happened. in BFYTW,
- 25:47Speaker 3: and whichever of you manages to convince me that your
- 25:50Speaker 3: favorite is the best will win the game and earn
- 25:53Speaker 3: two episode points. Stevie, because you lost the last game,
- 25:57Speaker 3: you have the choice. Do you want to go first,
- 25:58Speaker 3: or do you want to make Simothy Jimothy go first?
- 26:02Speaker 1: I think... Hell yeah, it's your name, Simothy. I think
- 26:05Speaker 1: I'm going to go first this time, because I think
- 26:07Speaker 1: I actually know the event, because it was referenced again
- 26:10Speaker 1: not too long ago.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Can I just concede at this point? Because I feel
- 26:14Speaker 2: like I've got no prayer in. No, you do. You
- 26:17Speaker 2: actually listen to the show.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I don't. I listen to every goddamn episode.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Can that be my answer right there?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Oh my god oh.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I love it all right it's my yeah i'm gonna
- 26:49Speaker 1: go first um i'm gonna say the most singular funny
- 26:57Speaker 1: part that i think that everybody can remember and again
- 27:00Speaker 1: we've referenced it not too long ago is taskmaster pretty
- 27:05Speaker 1: sure it was the very first one And I'm pretty
- 27:08Speaker 1: sure it was the second game in there where some
- 27:11Speaker 1: jackass had to figure out what an adverb was. I'm
- 27:16Speaker 1: pretty sure that resonates in the majority of the BFYTW fandom.
- 27:25Speaker 1: How long did that take, Aaron?
- 27:28Speaker 3: It was over five minutes. I cut it down to
- 27:31Speaker 3: like two and a half.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Of me just like not knowing English, sadly, is
- 27:37Speaker 1: my primary language. Yeah.
- 27:39Speaker 5: The setup was that basically Karen's task was to create
- 27:47Speaker 5: a Mad Libs and also assign the remaining four contestants.
- 27:52Speaker 3: You know, someone had to come up with four nouns,
- 27:55Speaker 3: one player to come up with three verbs. One player
- 27:58Speaker 3: had to come up with two adjectives, and finally one
- 28:00Speaker 3: final player had to come up with one adverb. Karen
- 28:03Speaker 3: assigned Stevie to come up with one adverb. Literally just
- 28:07Speaker 3: needed one word. One actual adverb. And it took him
- 28:13Speaker 3: over five minutes during which I lost my fucking mind.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I was on the internet and I still couldn't find one.
- 28:22Speaker 3: There were multiple times where he mentioned an adverb, but
- 28:26Speaker 3: because he didn't know it was an adverb, he didn't
- 28:29Speaker 3: go with it. Oh, my God. But the real joy
- 28:37Speaker 3: of that moment was playing it back during the actual
- 28:41Speaker 3: episode for everyone else to see and for Stevie to remember.
- 28:51Speaker 3: And we all lost our fucking minds. All of us
- 28:54Speaker 3: died laughing. It was an absolutely hilarious moment.
- 28:59Speaker 1: So goddamn good. It broke everybody.
- 29:02Speaker 3: So my question to you is going to be, you
- 29:04Speaker 3: seriously don't think that we have topped that in the
- 29:08Speaker 3: six or so years since?
- 29:10Speaker 1: I'm sure we have. I just, like you said, can't remember.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I'm sitting here, dude, and I'm like, what was impactful?
- 29:17Speaker 1: I mean, the trips, obviously. Does that count? But we're
- 29:19Speaker 1: talking about the shows, the funny things like. I'm having
- 29:23Speaker 1: issues because I've been watching a lot of pantsless shirts lately.
- 29:25Speaker 1: So all the Jorge stuff I've been watching is before
- 29:28Speaker 1: even BFY. So none of that stuff's in my mind.
- 29:31Speaker 1: It's all this past stuff. Unfortunately, that's all I can
- 29:35Speaker 1: think of right now.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Okay. Timothy, do you have any questions? questions you'd like
- 29:40Speaker 3: to ask Stevie?
- 29:43Speaker 2: I've been thinking about... Yeah, I mean, you brought up
- 29:48Speaker 2: a good question. I think... But I also would say... Yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 2: I can't think of anything to combat that. That's the
- 29:57Speaker 2: one thing I was struggling with even... not knowing what
- 30:00Speaker 2: his answer was going to be, was how was I
- 30:01Speaker 2: going to combat whatever he had to say? Because as
- 30:04Speaker 2: much as I listened to the show, he's literally been
- 30:06Speaker 2: here for 339 of these fucking things, you know, or whatever,
- 30:11Speaker 2: or 338 of them. So it's, you know, he's got
- 30:15Speaker 2: me beat there. I kind of think....
- 30:20Speaker 1: You got this.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Do you think that showing... that you don't know the
- 30:28Speaker 2: English language maybe hurts that moment at all.
- 30:33Speaker 1: No, because I'm actually a very good writer. Which is
- 30:36Speaker 1: kind of funny. I used to write before all this
- 30:40Speaker 1: other shit. I used to be a writer and shit.
- 30:42Speaker 2: I'm not saying you don't know, but I mean, you
- 30:44Speaker 2: example that in the.
- 30:45Speaker 1: No, no, I do that, yeah. No.
- 30:49Speaker 3: He's not much of a reader. No.
- 30:52Speaker 1: It just gives me headaches. That's why I don't read
- 30:55Speaker 1: what I write. I just write it down and throw
- 30:57Speaker 1: it away.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 2: I'm seeing, I'm seeing, I'm sensing a tinge of anger
- 31:04Speaker 2: from it.
- 31:07Speaker 3: No, no, no, it's fine. It's fine.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Um, I'm almost done with Rika again. I had to
- 31:13Speaker 1: start it over. Dude, I did. I had to start
- 31:16Speaker 1: it over. And thanks again. Because guess how long it
- 31:19Speaker 1: took me to start over the second fucking time. Because
- 31:21Speaker 1: I got through the first... I actually got through the
- 31:23Speaker 1: first paragraph and a half and then started crying and
- 31:27Speaker 1: then put the book away. Just saying. Still tender.
- 31:32Speaker 3: My heart. Okay. Let's move on then. Simithy Jimithy, it's
- 31:38Speaker 3: your turn.
- 31:38Speaker 1: What.
- 31:39Speaker 3: BFYTW moment do you think can top that or beat that?
- 31:44Speaker 2: Jesus. You know what? I had an answer that was
- 31:49Speaker 2: very self-serving, and then I decided literally in this last
- 31:55Speaker 2: second to pivot to a different answer.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Damn it.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 32:00Speaker 2: I think it's you coming up with that name for
- 32:04Speaker 2: me in the moment that.
- 32:05Speaker 3: You said that.
- 32:08Speaker 2: That was good. That was fucking good. Listen, the audience
- 32:14Speaker 2: knows that we're all friends and we talk off air.
- 32:16Speaker 2: So you warned me in advance about how much it
- 32:19Speaker 2: broke Smoke and Augie. That was so good. When I
- 32:22Speaker 2: finally saw it. you were right. It broke those two
- 32:27Speaker 2: fuckers in a way that I've never seen before. Just, just,
- 32:32Speaker 2: simity jimmy. And I think, I think, I think what
- 32:38Speaker 2: adds to it is there is an actual moment where
- 32:42Speaker 2: if you frame by frame it, because I did this
- 32:45Speaker 2: because I was curious. Aaron, you can see that the
- 32:48Speaker 2: moment where your mind just snaps like, fuck, I have
- 32:51Speaker 2: no idea what his name actually is. I am still
- 32:56Speaker 2: grateful that you guys don't know you didn't say it
- 32:59Speaker 2: because I honestly don't want that information out there I
- 33:00Speaker 2: don't care that you guys know but I don't want
- 33:02Speaker 2: it out to the world but it's become a thing
- 33:05Speaker 2: so much so that that's my name on the clock
- 33:08Speaker 2: tower like I mean I think it has to be
- 33:12Speaker 2: that moment like that has to be I can tell
- 33:17Speaker 2: you what I was going to say it's not going
- 33:18Speaker 2: to count towards my answer but I will tell you
- 33:21Speaker 2: what I was going to say Until that moment, but
- 33:27Speaker 2: I think that has to be it for me. That
- 33:28Speaker 2: has to be my– and it's ironic because that's what?
- 33:30Speaker 2: Like a month and a half ago, we're not talking.
- 33:33Speaker 5: But that was so good though.
- 33:35Speaker 3: It was good.
- 33:36Speaker 1: It was fucking great.
- 33:38Speaker 3: All right. As for me, I should make that your ringtone.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I'm not I'm not taking part in this game. So
- 33:44Speaker 3: my opinion doesn't really count. But I just wanted to
- 33:47Speaker 3: speak briefly on this because there are so many moments
- 33:49Speaker 3: that came to mind when I came up with this prompt. Um,
- 33:53Speaker 3: there was, uh, Augie being asked to make the Godfather
- 33:57Speaker 3: worse and he goes, makes you an offer you can refuse.
- 34:00Speaker 1: That was so good.
- 34:02Speaker 3: That was good.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 3: He's had, he's had so many like joke snipes that
- 34:09Speaker 3: have been so sick. I'm genuinely envious because I'm not
- 34:14Speaker 3: that good. Like, I'm not that good at joke sniping.
- 34:16Speaker 1: He's a savant, man.
- 34:17Speaker 2: He had a barrage of them on the hamster wheel
- 34:20Speaker 2: when you guys joined. Oh, God, yes. That was ridiculous
- 34:23Speaker 2: that day.
- 34:23Speaker 3: He was on fire that day.
- 34:26Speaker 2: You used it.
- 34:27Speaker 1: You said it. You said joke sniper.
- 34:29Speaker 2: He's like, well, fine, fucker. I called him a joke
- 34:31Speaker 2: ninja that day.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Yeah, joke ninja is another good way to put it.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Because it catches you by surprise and it makes it
- 34:37Speaker 3: even funnier. It would have been insane. So he's had
- 34:41Speaker 3: so many of those. BFYTW on the clock tower. Simothy
- 34:46Speaker 3: Jimothy sniping the demon night one.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I couldn't have planned that if I tried.
- 34:51Speaker 1: And then immediately winning.
- 34:53Speaker 3: And we're having to re-rack a whole new game all
- 34:56Speaker 3: of a sudden.
- 34:57Speaker 2: And you got a bunch of extra content out of that.
- 34:59Speaker 2: So it works.
- 35:00Speaker 3: It's so fucking funny.
- 35:02Speaker 2: It was.
- 35:02Speaker 3: It was. We've had incredible game show moments. It was
- 35:09Speaker 3: lost to time, and that's one of the things I
- 35:11Speaker 3: hate the most about it, is that I can't relive
- 35:13Speaker 3: it without my imagination. But the very first time the
- 35:16Speaker 3: Ultra Oak Girls played the list, it literally came down
- 35:21Speaker 3: to the wire. And Maddie was the last player, and
- 35:25Speaker 3: she got it right, and she won the money for
- 35:27Speaker 3: their charity. which was so good. It was such an
- 35:30Speaker 3: exciting and thrilling game. We were able to have them
- 35:33Speaker 3: back almost immediately to do it again, but it wasn't
- 35:36Speaker 3: the same. It was still exciting. It was good. They
- 35:39Speaker 3: still won a bunch of money with their charity, but
- 35:41Speaker 3: it was a lot less down to the wire. The
- 35:45Speaker 3: team had it handled.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Did the recording get lost or something? Is that what happened? Yeah, yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 3: It was very early in our cycle. I think it
- 35:54Speaker 3: was episode 50-ish or something like that. It might have
- 35:59Speaker 3: been after Jorge passed. It might have been closer to 80.
- 36:01Speaker 3: But I just remember we tried to record it in
- 36:04Speaker 3: Stevie's bedroom. And because of the way the game worked,
- 36:07Speaker 3: I needed access to the computer. But that meant Stevie
- 36:10Speaker 3: couldn't see whether it was recording or not.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:13Speaker 3: And we all kind of lost track of what was happening.
- 36:16Speaker 3: And the end result was that our... voices were recorded
- 36:20Speaker 3: but you literally couldn't hear anything the ultra girl said
- 36:24Speaker 3: yeah so it was completely unusable like it was it
- 36:27Speaker 3: was absolute garbage.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Uh i've been there man it sucks yeah it's.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Just just the intensity of that moment where we we
- 36:34Speaker 3: literally weren't sure i as the host wasn't sure whether
- 36:37Speaker 3: maddie was going to come up with the right answer
- 36:39Speaker 3: or not and it was literally her last chance and
- 36:43Speaker 3: she nailed it so we've had other things like that
- 36:47Speaker 3: some great games along the way as well I mean
- 36:50Speaker 3: episode 300 comes to mind that massive trip and the
- 36:55Speaker 3: performance on stage with the laughs from the live audience
- 36:59Speaker 3: was just that was great there are literally too many
- 37:04Speaker 3: that I literally couldn't I had a hard time narrowing
- 37:07Speaker 3: it down to one But I did. And it was
- 37:13Speaker 3: Stevie failing to come up with an adverb. Are you
- 37:16Speaker 3: sure it is?
- 37:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:18Speaker 3: And there's a very specific reason why. So I don't
- 37:22Speaker 3: know if Stevie was looking. I think I've talked this
- 37:25Speaker 3: over with you, Stevie, before, and I hope it won't
- 37:28Speaker 3: make you emotional or anything. But I was looking at
- 37:32Speaker 3: Jorge while this was going down because I knew he
- 37:35Speaker 3: was going to react hard. And holy shit, react hard.
- 37:38Speaker 3: He did. He laughed in those two and a half minutes.
- 37:41Speaker 3: The video was playing of Stevie struggling. Jorge must've laughed
- 37:47Speaker 3: harder than I think I've ever seen him laugh in
- 37:50Speaker 3: his life. Like he was crying with laughter. It was
- 37:54Speaker 3: so damn funny to watch him lose it. Um, and
- 37:59Speaker 3: given that that taskmaster specifically was something he wanted to do, um,
- 38:06Speaker 3: In that moment, it literally felt like we had made
- 38:11Speaker 3: we had made a dying man's wish come true. We
- 38:15Speaker 3: literally had. And I think, I think he, I think
- 38:18Speaker 3: he went to his rest easier because we put on
- 38:20Speaker 3: this insane, this absolutely insane show. And it was so
- 38:25Speaker 3: much fun to do. But I will, I will never
- 38:29Speaker 3: forget that moment as long as I live, because like
- 38:32Speaker 3: I said, I was looking at where it was happening
- 38:35Speaker 3: and it just made me laugh harder because But yeah, yeah,
- 38:40Speaker 3: I cannot think I cannot think of a better a
- 38:44Speaker 3: better moment to just kind of encapsulate what BFYTW is
- 38:48Speaker 3: all about. Us having a great time and making each
- 38:53Speaker 3: other laugh as best we can. And dear God, can
- 38:56Speaker 3: we do a great job of that? So this game
- 38:59Speaker 3: is going to go to Stevie. And he earns two
- 39:01Speaker 3: episode points. Congratulations.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I got points.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Can I mention my two honorable mentions real quick? Yeah,
- 39:08Speaker 2: go ahead. Yeah. So I was debating, and I don't
- 39:11Speaker 2: know if this would have counted based on the rules
- 39:13Speaker 2: that you laid out, although we're not allowed to talk
- 39:14Speaker 2: about this game, so I don't know why we're talking
- 39:16Speaker 2: about other rules. That's a different thing.
- 39:19Speaker 3: What?
- 39:20Speaker 2: You don't talk about it.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Oh, I got it. I got it. Sorry.
- 39:23Speaker 2: It took me a second to catch up to the joke.
- 39:27Speaker 2: But the Red Bank episode, not the trip.
- 39:30Speaker 3: But the actual recording.
- 39:31Speaker 2: The Cinemind episode.
- 39:34Speaker 3: That was a lot of fun and I'm genuinely impressed
- 39:36Speaker 3: we pulled it off because it seemed impossible.
- 39:40Speaker 2: And it came out, I've listened back to it recently
- 39:43Speaker 2: and it's years later and it still hits. It hits
- 39:46Speaker 2: as hard as it did the day we did it.
- 39:49Speaker 3: It was a very cool 10-person tournament.
- 39:52Speaker 1: That was fun.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Never replicated since, but I would love to do something
- 39:56Speaker 3: like that again.
- 39:57Speaker 1: That would be fucking cave. Jersey's not far away.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Well, yeah, it is for me now, but count me
- 40:02Speaker 2: in regardless.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Fucking fly, fucker.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Or we wait to do it in Vegas. Why don't
- 40:08Speaker 2: we do it in Vegas?
- 40:09Speaker 1: Let's go to Vegas, fucker.
- 40:12Speaker 2: The other one for me was where I simultaneously had
- 40:16Speaker 2: one of my best moments on the show and my
- 40:18Speaker 2: worst moments on the show. And that's where I killed
- 40:21Speaker 2: the bit of me losing by winning a game. Yes.
- 40:25Speaker 3: Yes. That was a good one.
- 40:27Speaker 2: I was like 0 for whatever and I finally fucking
- 40:30Speaker 2: won one.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Hell yeah, that was awesome.
- 40:33Speaker 3: God, yes.
- 40:34Speaker 1: It's like, you fucked up.
- 40:35Speaker 3: There's so many. There's so many.
- 40:38Speaker 1: There's a lot.
- 40:39Speaker 2: There's a lot of great moments.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Episode 7, when David Hader was a guest star.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Holy fuck, that was insane. The people we got on
- 40:46Speaker 1: the show were fucking nuts.
- 40:48Speaker 3: Yeah, like, any show with David Adomino is a highlight
- 40:52Speaker 3: for me, because that guy can make me laugh. He
- 40:55Speaker 3: can make me laugh like nobody's business, and he's so
- 40:56Speaker 3: good at what he does.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Yeah, he is.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Um, like, yeah, all the guest spots, every all the
- 41:02Speaker 3: guest spots have been incredible.
- 41:06Speaker 2: If I could hit on another somber moment, but it
- 41:08Speaker 2: was a highlight for me was when when you asked
- 41:10Speaker 2: Rico and I to step in the first recording after Jorge. Oh, yeah.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Do that. And well, well, as I recall, we.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Had planned that episode anyway. Like it was right.
- 41:21Speaker 2: But I guess the fact that you you still were like,
- 41:23Speaker 2: let's do it. Let's you guys still come on. Let's
- 41:26Speaker 2: do it.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 3: And that's that's what that's what he wanted us to do.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I know. I know. But but you could have easily stopped.
- 41:34Speaker 2: You could have had a chill show or whatever. And
- 41:38Speaker 2: you were like, no, let's keep it on schedule.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be honest. It wasn't the easiest episode we've
- 41:44Speaker 3: ever done. No, but but we still like, you know,
- 41:49Speaker 3: we kept the spirit going and we did what we did.
- 41:52Speaker 3: always wanted to do, which was just have fun with
- 41:54Speaker 3: our friends.
- 41:55Speaker 2: And my, my point though, is it, and I, and
- 41:57Speaker 2: I think I've said this to you before and I,
- 41:59Speaker 2: and I'm pretty sure I speak for Rego that we
- 42:00Speaker 2: were honored that you considered us for that, you know, to, again,
- 42:04Speaker 2: you could have pivoted and done something else, but you
- 42:06Speaker 2: were like, no, let's have these guys on, let's keep
- 42:09Speaker 2: doing it. And, and I, That episode holds a lot
- 42:13Speaker 2: of regard for me, not just because it's my first appearance,
- 42:16Speaker 2: but because of what it represents.
- 42:18Speaker 3: You two were and are our boys.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 42:23Speaker 3: A literal member of the family. Appreciate that, yeah.
- 42:27Speaker 2: That's why I'm doing the background.
- 42:28Speaker 3: In a t-shirt. Well, hell yeah. I'm glad Rico's here
- 42:33Speaker 3: with us in spirit, too. Anyway, we have a third
- 42:37Speaker 3: game to get to, so When we come back, we're
- 42:40Speaker 3: going to find out who's going to win Game 3.
- 42:41Speaker 3: For now, Stevie has a two-point to one-point lead over
- 42:46Speaker 3: Simothy Jimothy. We'll see if Simothy Jimothy can take it
- 42:48Speaker 3: home with Game 3 right after this.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Hey, if you're in the western New York area and
- 43:02Speaker 1: you are a fan of the green, head on over
- 43:04Speaker 1: to Peace, Love, and Bud at 320 South Transit Road
- 43:08Speaker 1: in Lockport, New York. Tell them BFYTW sent you. Maybe
- 43:12Speaker 1: they'll hook you up. If you're into recreational cannabis and
- 43:16Speaker 1: are in Lewiston, New York, near the Tuscarora Native Reservation,
- 43:20Speaker 1: check out Weedstock. These guys have the prime herb. On
- 43:24Speaker 1: top of that, they have concentrates, vapes, edibles, practically anything
- 43:28Speaker 1: you want. So go hit up Weedstock in Lewiston, New York.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Tell them BFYTW sent you.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Hey, man, welcome back. It's time for game three. Game
- 43:47Speaker 3: three is going to be just correlate.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Correlate this.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Our favorite game of finding hidden connections is back. Our
- 43:55Speaker 3: players are going to choose keyboard keys, and that will
- 43:58Speaker 3: allow them to choose between control, alt, delete, insert, home,
- 44:02Speaker 3: and end. Behind each one is a set of four clues,
- 44:06Speaker 3: and each of the four clues have something in common.
- 44:09Speaker 3: If they figure out the thing in common after one clue,
- 44:11Speaker 3: which is crazy, but they could do it, five points.
- 44:15Speaker 3: After two clues, you get three points. After three clues,
- 44:19Speaker 3: you get two points. And if you need all four clues,
- 44:22Speaker 3: then you get one point. If you guys don't figure
- 44:27Speaker 3: it out, the other team or player will get a
- 44:29Speaker 3: chance to steal with all four clues for one point.
- 44:34Speaker 3: The player or team with the most points after all
- 44:36Speaker 3: six keys have been chosen wins the game and gets
- 44:39Speaker 3: three episode points. All right.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Can I ask an honest question about the game before
- 44:45Speaker 2: we get into it? Yeah, you may. If I pick
- 44:50Speaker 2: a key and I get my clues and I guess
- 44:53Speaker 2: and I get it wrong, do I still get clues
- 44:55Speaker 2: or am I out and it goes over?
- 44:56Speaker 1: Nope.
- 44:57Speaker 3: You get one shot at it.
- 44:58Speaker 2: One shot. Okay. That's what I need.
- 45:00Speaker 3: So the music is going to play and that is
- 45:03Speaker 3: your time limit.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Oh, there's a time limit.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 45:07Speaker 3: You will have approximately 40 seconds. Um, I, it does
- 45:11Speaker 3: not start until I finished reading the first clue. When
- 45:14Speaker 3: you want another clue, just simply say next and I'll
- 45:17Speaker 3: move on to the next clue. Um, and you must
- 45:21Speaker 3: do this over the course of the 40 seconds. If
- 45:22Speaker 3: time runs out or you, you, uh, Or if you
- 45:26Speaker 3: give me a wrong answer, that's it. It goes over
- 45:29Speaker 3: to your opponent. They get all four clues automatically, but
- 45:31Speaker 3: they can only get one point off it.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 45:34Speaker 3: OK, so think about, you know, take you take a
- 45:38Speaker 3: little bit of time between each clue, but not too
- 45:39Speaker 3: much before you move on. If you don't have it.
- 45:42Speaker 2: All right.
- 45:43Speaker 3: And since you lost last game, you get the choice.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Do you want to go first or do you want
- 45:47Speaker 3: to go second?
- 45:49Speaker 1: Cool. Don't screw up. This is how people win and
- 45:54Speaker 1: lose right here.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Going first means you will always have a choice. The
- 45:58Speaker 3: person who goes second will be stuck with the final category.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Which means absolutely nothing anyway.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Because you don't know what they are. There's literally no
- 46:08Speaker 3: information about what's behind each of them.
- 46:12Speaker 2: I think, because I'm not familiar with the game, I'm
- 46:15Speaker 2: going to go second so I can kind of observe
- 46:17Speaker 2: how this works.
- 46:18Speaker 3: So.
- 46:20Speaker 3: All right, so, Stevie, you get the first pick. Would
- 46:22Speaker 3: you like control, alt, delete, insert, home, or end?
- 46:27Speaker 1: So, Mr. Jimothy, you're saying I'm taking control?
- 46:35Speaker 3: Control it is. Stevie, you will get the first four
- 46:38Speaker 3: clues behind control. Stevie, for five points, Uranus changes its
- 46:45Speaker 3: astrological sign. Next. Next. For three points, the Sabbath year.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Next.
- 46:58Speaker 3: For two points, the Brooklyn Bridge is built.
- 47:08Speaker 1: These are difficult. Next.
- 47:11Speaker 3: For one point, average human cells regenerate.
- 47:19Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 47:26Speaker 1: I'm not going to get it.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Nope.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Time is up. No answer. All right. Um, Timothy, Timothy,
- 47:32Speaker 3: I'm going to give them to you again. Uranus changes.
- 47:35Speaker 3: It's astrological sign. The Sabbath year, the Brooklyn bridge is built.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Average human cells regenerate. Nothing.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Um, I don't, I don't lose points if I don't
- 47:55Speaker 2: get it right.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Uh, no, you don't lose anything for getting it wrong.
- 47:58Speaker 3: You might as well take a shot.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Three truths and a lie?
- 48:02Speaker 1: No.
- 48:03Speaker 3: I think I got it now. Stevie, do you think
- 48:05Speaker 3: you know what it is? What is it?
- 48:07Speaker 1: They all have a commons. They're all red. No.
- 48:11Speaker 3: No?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Oh, fuck.
- 48:12Speaker 2: No, no.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Guys, what is the theme of the episode? These are
- 48:16Speaker 3: things that all take or took seven years.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 48:21Speaker 3: Uranus changes its astrological sign every seven years. The Sabbath
- 48:25Speaker 3: year takes place every seven years. The Brooklyn Bridge was
- 48:27Speaker 3: built in seven years. And human cells regenerate, on average,
- 48:32Speaker 3: every seven years.
- 48:33Speaker 2: I didn't know it was the Sabbath year. I knew
- 48:34Speaker 2: it was the Sabbath day, but not the Sabbath year.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Yeah, no, the Sabbath year is a real thing. That's crazy.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Crazy all right no points for.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Anybody uh simothy we're over to you would you can
- 48:45Speaker 3: have alt delete insert home or end.
- 48:48Speaker 2: I'm pretty alt so i think i'll go with that.
- 48:51Speaker 3: You're going with alt okay uh simothy for five points
- 48:55Speaker 3: without me next for three points sunflower.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to take a shot. Sunlight?
- 49:09Speaker 3: Oh, he's saying yes. You're guessing sunlight?
- 49:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:12Speaker 3: That is incorrect. So no points for you. Stevie, I'm
- 49:17Speaker 3: going to give you all four clues before you guess.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Without Me, Sunflower, Bad Guy, Old Town Road.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Are these all songs with Ronnie from Falling in Reverse?
- 49:35Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 49:38Speaker 3: No. I don't fucking know. Again, not all of these
- 49:43Speaker 3: relate to the theme, but this one does.
- 49:45Speaker 1: This one does.
- 49:45Speaker 3: These are all hit songs from 2019. God damn it.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Oh, damn.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Old Town Road was by Lil Nas X. Bad Guy
- 49:55Speaker 3: was by Billie Eilish. I didn't bother to look who
- 49:58Speaker 3: was without me in Sunflower, but they were among the
- 50:01Speaker 3: top ten hits of 2019. Holy shit.
- 50:05Speaker 1: All right.
- 50:05Speaker 2: All right.
- 50:06Speaker 3: No points to anybody so far.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Stevie, is your pick? Without me, he's M & M,
- 50:09Speaker 2: by the way, if you're wondering. Oh, okay.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Fair enough.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Stevie, you may have delete, insert, home, or end.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Delete me.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Delete.
- 50:19Speaker 2: All right.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Stevie, for five points, NCIS New Orleans.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Next.
- 50:30Speaker 3: For three points, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- 50:38Speaker 1: This could be so many things.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Next.
- 50:44Speaker 3: For two points, the Golden Girls.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Stevie.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Stevie is guessing.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Are these all categories of games we played on BFYTW?
- 50:57Speaker 3: No, that's incorrect.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Fuck, it's not.
- 50:59Speaker 3: We've never done an NCIS New Orleans episode.
- 51:02Speaker 1: We've done everything else. Why haven't we?
- 51:05Speaker 3: All right, so I'm going to give all four clues
- 51:09Speaker 3: to Timothy to try and steal. Timothy, NCIS New Orleans,
- 51:14Speaker 3: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Golden Girls, Star Trek The
- 51:19Speaker 3: Next Generation. Huh.
- 51:36Speaker 2: I have an answer, but I think you want something more.
- 51:39Speaker 2: If I answer and you want something more specific, are
- 51:41Speaker 2: you going to tell me that or am I just wrong?
- 51:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll give you another chance.
- 51:45Speaker 2: They all had the same amount of seasons.
- 51:48Speaker 3: You are very, very close. more specific.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Okay, you need more. They all had, I'm just going
- 51:55Speaker 2: to stick with the theme, they all had seven seasons.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Is right for one point!
- 52:01Speaker 2: Yes!
- 52:02Speaker 3: Each of these television shows ran for exactly seven seasons.
- 52:05Speaker 2: I wasn't sure about Golden Girls, that's why I thought
- 52:08Speaker 2: they had the last one.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. Our first point is on
- 52:12Speaker 3: the board. Well done, Timothy. Good guess. All right. We
- 52:16Speaker 3: are back to you. Actually, it's your choice. You stole
- 52:18Speaker 3: that one. So now it's your choice. Timothy, would you
- 52:21Speaker 3: like insert, home, or end? End.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Because I want this to end.
- 52:27Speaker 3: All right. All right. Timothy, here we go. For five points, pounds. Next.
- 52:39Speaker 3: For three points, Samurai.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Next.
- 52:45Speaker 3: For two points, The Magnificent.
- 52:51Speaker 2: They're all movie titles with seven in the title.
- 52:55Speaker 3: I'm going to give that to you. Yeah. They're all
- 52:57Speaker 3: movies with seven removed. The first one was Seven Pounds.
- 53:02Speaker 3: The second one was Seven Samurai. The third was the
- 53:05Speaker 3: Magnificent Seven. If you'd gotten to it, your last clue
- 53:07Speaker 3: would have been Brides for Brothers.
- 53:09Speaker 2: That would have helped me.
- 53:11Speaker 3: It would have been Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, of course.
- 53:15Speaker 3: That is two more points to Simothy.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Woohoo!
- 53:20Speaker 3: Doing really well now. Stevie, we're back to you for
- 53:23Speaker 3: the last choice. Would you like Insert or Home?
- 53:27Speaker 1: You know what I like.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Ha ha ha!
- 53:30Speaker 3: I still need you to say it. There we go.
- 53:33Speaker 1: You gotta say it or it doesn't count.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Stevie, for five points, the Sanderson sisters.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Okay, I know them. Next.
- 53:45Speaker 3: For three points, Alvin and the Chipmunks.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Next.
- 53:57Speaker 3: For two points, the Powerpuff Girls.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Stevie, are these all siblings in groups of three?
- 54:11Speaker 3: I'm going to give that to you. Yeah, these are
- 54:12Speaker 3: all famous trios.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Sweet.
- 54:15Speaker 3: The Sanderson sisters, there were three of them. Alvin and
- 54:17Speaker 3: the Chipmunks, even though it sounds like there's more, there's
- 54:20Speaker 3: still only three. The Powerpuff Girls, there are three of them.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Your last clue would have been Charlie's Angels.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Well done. Trios like us. Heck yeah.
- 54:30Speaker 1: I got points.
- 54:32Speaker 3: All right, well done. That is another point. That is
- 54:34Speaker 3: two points.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Oh, I got two.
- 54:37Speaker 3: It's two to three. Timothy, you get the last one.
- 54:40Speaker 3: You get home. And you want to get this because
- 54:45Speaker 3: if you don't, Stevie can tie it.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:48Speaker 3: So here is your first clue under home for five points. Untitled. Untitled. Next.
- 55:01Speaker 3: For three points, Roberts v. Sparrow.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Next.
- 55:09Speaker 3: For two points, Marvel Flame War.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Next.
- 55:17Speaker 3: For one point, BFYTW Podcast Show No. 1.
- 55:24Speaker 2: All things that came out seven years ago.
- 55:28Speaker 3: In this case, I'm going to need you to be
- 55:30Speaker 3: a little bit more specific.
- 55:32Speaker 2: Oh, shit. The first episode was seven years ago? Is
- 55:37Speaker 2: that specific enough, or do you need more?
- 55:40Speaker 3: Sorry, say that again?
- 55:41Speaker 2: The first episode was seven years ago. The first edition...
- 55:47Speaker 2: You need more.
- 55:47Speaker 3: You're teetering on the edge of it.
- 55:50Speaker 2: You're teetering on the edge of it? I'm not trying
- 55:52Speaker 2: to be difficult.
- 55:53Speaker 3: I'm going to give you one last shot at it.
- 55:55Speaker 2: I'm not being difficult. I'm just trying to figure out
- 55:57Speaker 2: how to praise it.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Um....
- 56:00Speaker 2: Oh, Jesus. All things in different medium that came out
- 56:08Speaker 2: seven years ago.
- 56:09Speaker 3: No, I can't. You're way off now. Stevie to steal.
- 56:14Speaker 3: Can you steal it? Do you know what these are?
- 56:18Speaker 1: What were they again? I'm sorry.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Untitled. Roberts v. Sparrow. Marvel Flame War. BFYTW podcast show
- 56:28Speaker 3: number one.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Are these the whole things that came out September 19th
- 56:33Speaker 1: of 2019?
- 56:34Speaker 3: No, that's not either. That's not either. These are the
- 56:40Speaker 3: first four episode titles of BFYTW in reverse order.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Oh, holy fuck.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Our very first episode was BFYTW podcast show number one.
- 56:51Speaker 3: The second one was Marvel Flame War. The third one
- 56:53Speaker 3: is Roberts v. Sparrow. If the fourth one had a title,
- 56:57Speaker 3: I can't find it.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Really?
- 57:00Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, you can't find it if
- 57:01Speaker 3: you go on like Spreaker or, you know, our podcast services.
- 57:05Speaker 3: BFYTW show number four is not there. However, Stevie did
- 57:09Speaker 3: archive it on YouTube. So you can find our fourth
- 57:12Speaker 3: episode on YouTube, but it has no title. It's just
- 57:17Speaker 3: the fourth show.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Very, very. It's the mystery episode.
- 57:21Speaker 1: What the fuck?
- 57:22Speaker 3: So I left it as untitled, but it's true. If
- 57:24Speaker 3: you actually go and look, our fourth show is missing
- 57:27Speaker 3: for some reason. In any event, that means no points
- 57:32Speaker 3: for that one. So at the end of our game,
- 57:34Speaker 3: Stevie has two points. But Timothy has three, which means
- 57:37Speaker 3: he wins this game.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Very nice.
- 57:40Speaker 3: He gets three episode points and has won the episode
- 57:42Speaker 3: four points to two.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Holy shit, you did win.
- 57:46Speaker 2: I won again.
- 57:47Speaker 1: The timeline's broken, Aaron. What are we supposed to do now?
- 57:51Speaker 2: I'm up to three, Smoke.
- 57:54Speaker 3: I think we should celebrate. I think it's awesome that
- 57:57Speaker 3: our buddy.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Is back again.
- 57:59Speaker 3: On our 7th anniversary show. I think it's only appropriate
- 58:04Speaker 3: that we appreciate someone who's been with us for most
- 58:07Speaker 3: of this crazy ride.
- 58:08Speaker 1: No fucking joke.
- 58:11Speaker 3: No joke at all. That is going to be it
- 58:14Speaker 3: from us, man. I hope you've enjoyed the past seven
- 58:17Speaker 3: years of BFYTW, at least a fraction of how much
- 58:22Speaker 3: we've enjoyed it. It's been an incredible ride, and I
- 58:26Speaker 3: hope it continues for another 17 years or more. But
