- 0:00Speaker 1: Okay, so let me set the scene now down at
- 0:02Speaker 1: the Three Hills on a Sunday, a very lovely sunny
- 0:05Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon, and there's one hundreds of kids playing hockey.
- 0:08Speaker 1: So I'm joined now by Janet Fuller. Hello, Jenny, how
- 0:11Speaker 1: are you?
- 0:11Speaker 2: I'm good? Thank you good?
- 0:13Speaker 1: So what's your role here today?
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm one of the league coaches and the organizer of
- 0:17Speaker 2: this tournament. It's a county tournament under ten county champs.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And I mean this is massive. So we're into the
- 0:26Speaker 1: boys now, but you had a morning of girls.
- 0:28Speaker 2: How did that go? Really well? So for each competition,
- 0:31Speaker 2: the girls and the boys, we've got a total of
- 0:33Speaker 2: eighteen teams, six in the championship and twelve in our
- 0:38Speaker 2: plate competition and the two competitions running together.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Okay, so what's the format of the game. How long
- 0:46Speaker 1: is the game itself?
- 0:47Speaker 2: The games are twelve minutes one way. The championships, they
- 0:52Speaker 2: all play each other in their competition to decide the
- 0:57Speaker 2: leader and the runner up, and the two teams will
- 1:00Speaker 2: go off to regionals.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Oh, to regionals? So he carries on afterwards? Yeah yeah,
- 1:05Speaker 1: So when you say regionals, what does that mean to
- 1:07Speaker 1: the listeners?
- 1:08Speaker 2: So they'll go on to another tournament which will include
- 1:11Speaker 2: all the regions.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Oh what sort of Northeast South? Okay, right, I mean
- 1:16Speaker 1: behind the scenes, you've obviously been working so hard and
- 1:19Speaker 1: they're just what's involved. I mean you have to contact
- 1:21Speaker 1: all the teams or they contact you.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yes, I contact all the teams and they and we
- 1:26Speaker 2: get their entries in and it goes from there depending
- 1:30Speaker 2: on the number of teams. This year in total, we've
- 1:32Speaker 2: got thirty six.
- 1:33Speaker 1: That's brilliant. I mean, are you actually turning teams away
- 1:35Speaker 1: or do you struggle to find teams?
- 1:38Speaker 2: We did have to turn two teams away. Some clubs
- 1:41Speaker 2: like to enter more teams but we just can't fit them.
- 1:44Speaker 1: In on No. And it's a testament to the fact
- 1:47Speaker 1: that you've got the facilities here. I mean there can't
- 1:49Speaker 1: be many other clubs in Kent that have organized this.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I know this isn't your first time, but how many
- 1:56Speaker 1: times have you been doing the under tennis?
- 1:58Speaker 2: Probably ten times, so I don't know.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, since they were just born then yeah, okay
- 2:06Speaker 1: now and now, I mean it's it's a great coup
- 2:09Speaker 1: for the club and and we do the club volunteers
- 2:12Speaker 1: and get stuck in and help you out.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I have to thank all of the volunteers,
- 2:18Speaker 2: old and you. We've got juniors that are here helping
- 2:20Speaker 2: out all the time, all day. Yeah. It takes a
- 2:24Speaker 2: lot of organization and a lot of volunteers, but it's
- 2:27Speaker 2: running quite sweet.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah. So on me. So you've got thirty six teams? Yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 1: so how many players in the team up to ten?
- 2:35Speaker 2: I'd have up to three hundred and.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Sixty two three, that's what I was getting at three
- 2:38Speaker 1: hundred and sixty children. Oh my word, that is something
- 2:41Speaker 1: to look after. Anyway, Jayia, you've done a fantastic job,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and you know, you know, long may it go on.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But I just got to ask you on a personal note,
- 2:49Speaker 1: how did you get on yesterday with the ladies sixteen?
- 2:53Speaker 1: And I'll go on tell I know the score. We'll
- 2:55Speaker 1: tell the listeners what the score was. We won sixteen
- 2:57Speaker 1: l sixteen and I know you was on the score seet.
- 3:00Speaker 1: How many goals did you get?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Three?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Well, well done, so you're still banging in the goals, Janet,
- 3:06Speaker 1: thanks so much for taking the time. I know you've
- 3:07Speaker 1: got to shoot off to your next game, and I'm
- 3:10Speaker 1: sure that everybody at the club and throughout Ken in
- 3:13Speaker 1: the hockey circles appreciate what you do.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Thank you very much, thank you, thank
