  Speaker 1: Yeah! Yeah!
• 0:03
Speaker 2: Greetings, programs, and welcome a mile above sea level. I'm
• 0:06
Speaker 2: Connor McGehee, and this is Colorado Avalanche Hockey. Tonight, the
• 0:12
Speaker 2: Avs return home with a 3-1 record after splitting their
• 0:15
Speaker 2: dual-province Canadian road trip. Tonight, the Canadian theme continues with
• 0:21
Speaker 2: Toronto in town. Well, anytime Toronto and Colorado get together,
• 0:24
Speaker 2: it's appointment viewing. Where are the low-scoring affairs in this series,
• 0:29
Speaker 2: and how could they be? with McKinnon in the lineup,
• 0:31
Speaker 2: last year's Rocket Richard winner, and Austin Matthews on the
• 0:35
Speaker 2: other side, who's won three of those, hitting 60 goals
• 0:38
Speaker 2: twice in his career. It's autumn, so let's see if
• 0:42
Speaker 2: the Leafs fall tonight in Denver. So put on your
• 0:46
Speaker 2: listening sweaters for the Avs and Maple Leafs. Force of
• 0:49
Speaker 2: nature versus foliage. Live for your listening pleasure around North
• 0:54
Speaker 2: America and around the world on the Altitude Sports Radio Network. Again,
• 1:00
Speaker 2: second unit looked better than the first, but still not
• 1:04
Speaker 2: where it needs to be. This is tipped over the
• 1:05
Speaker 2: left shoulder of Bobrovsky. Blankenberg went to play, and he
• 1:09
Speaker 2: was crunched by Zach LaRue. Again, white stick, black tape.
• 1:14
Speaker 2: Alex Ryan in his favor. If you listen to Between
• 1:17
Speaker 2: the Bipes postgame on YouTube, Altitude Sports Radio. But LaRue playing...
• 1:22
Speaker 2: Like an absolute demon through two games for the Avalanche.
• 1:25
Speaker 2: Here's Nick Paul, former Tampa Bay Lightning, can't get a
• 1:27
Speaker 2: shot away. Nylander picks up the loose change, backdoor, Blankenberg scores.
• 1:32
Speaker 2: Blankenberg uncovered into the lineup, sort of on a whim
• 1:39
Speaker 2: for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and they score in their
• 1:42
Speaker 2: second shot of the game. It's 1-0 bad guys. A
• 1:49
Speaker 2: lot more space to work with on this shift for
• 1:51
Speaker 2: the Avalanche. Toronto, unfortunately, will get it and launch it
• 1:53
Speaker 2: to center ice with Parker Kelly who's waiting. Time for
• 1:56
Speaker 2: the team lead and assists. Parker Kelly. Excuse me, just
• 2:01
Speaker 2: second and assist. McKinnon does have five. I forgot about
• 2:04
Speaker 2: the third point in Calgary. I hate when I do that.
• 2:07
Speaker 2: McKinnon has the puck now. Far circle McKinnon. Towards the net.
• 2:10
  Speaker 1: He scores!
• 2:15
Speaker 3: Eight straight games with points against the Maple Leafs.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: For the MAAC attack, Jack.
• 2:21
Speaker 2: And ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages,
• 2:25
Speaker 2: this is a tie hockey game. McKinnon said, fine, I'll
• 2:29
Speaker 2: just do it myself. After an energy shift from the
• 2:34
Speaker 2: wall line, Kulak gave McKinnon the puck in the neutral zone.
• 2:39
Speaker 2: Around one leaf, around two leafs, and then through the
• 2:42
Speaker 2: two big leafs, the two pads. of Sergei Bobrovsky. McKinnon
• 2:49
Speaker 2: slides it in for his fourth goal of the season,
• 2:52
Speaker 2: and we're tied at one halfway through the first period.
• 2:56
Speaker 2: Natchez throws the hit, Lekkonen steals the puck behind the cage,
• 2:59
Speaker 2: between his legs, pass, Natchez lines up Makar, he holds,
• 3:03
Speaker 2: and now Nathan McKinnon had to receive a rather hard
• 3:06
Speaker 2: pass on the forehand, he'll circle high in the zone.
• 3:09
Speaker 2: McKinnon still with it. McKinnon working his way down the middle. McKinnon,
• 3:12
Speaker 2: he lets it ride.
• 3:12
  Speaker 1: He scores!
• 3:17
Speaker 2: Nations were parked in front.
• 3:19
Speaker 3: McKinnon let it ride. It's the second of the period.
• 3:23
Speaker 3: Nathan McKinnon two, and the Maple Leafs one.
• 3:32
Speaker 2: That whole play was allowed to happen because of the
• 3:36
Speaker 2: work of Arturi Lekkonen. Him and Natchez won the puck
• 3:39
Speaker 2: below the goal line. Lekkonen, a between-the-legs pass to link
• 3:45
Speaker 2: up with Natchez. He found Kael McCarr, and then McKinnon
• 3:49
Speaker 2: just went around the world. Takes off one by Toronto, however.
• 3:55
Speaker 2: Nylander for Radish, back for Nylander. Nearside circle, centering feed,
• 4:00
Speaker 2: off a stick, bouncing puck. Matthews into space. Hugged by
• 4:04
Speaker 2: Parker Kelly. Gets it free. Manson lost an edge. Back
• 4:08
Speaker 2: to his feet. Back door. Nylander stick handling. And he scores.
• 4:13
Speaker 2: First power play goal allowed this year by the Colorado Avalanche.
• 4:17
Speaker 2: Comes on its 11th shorthanded opportunity. William Nylander has two
• 4:22
Speaker 2: points in the hockey game. And he ties it at two.
• 4:26
Speaker 2: Left all alone in front. Manson had lost an edge.
• 4:31
Speaker 2: Trying to get to the puck. And everyone forgot about Nylander,
• 4:35
Speaker 2: who stick-handled around Blackwood and tucked it in. One hands
• 4:40
Speaker 2: it down the near side boards. Matthews stole it away.
• 4:42
Speaker 2: Ekman-Larsen has it stolen by Brock. Nelson, he's got it back.
• 4:46
  Speaker 2: Save Bobrovsky.
• 4:47
Speaker 1: Nelson again. He scores!
• 4:51
Speaker 3: Can you smell what the Brock is cooking? His second
• 4:56
Speaker 3: goal of the season, and Colorado's back on top.
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: It's 3-2 Avalanche.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: Colorado had created enough chaos to generate a chance good
• 5:11
Speaker 2: enough to finally beat Bobrovsky. Nelson lost it. He got
• 5:16
Speaker 2: it back once and then got it back twice. And
• 5:21
Speaker 2: there was just enough bodies and enough sticks on sticks,
• 5:25
Speaker 2: but no sticks on pucks. Kadri was there for the
• 5:29
Speaker 2: screen and it floats past Brock Nelson. His 12th career
• 5:35
Speaker 2: goal versus the Leafs. He has the abs up by one. Columbus,
• 5:39
Speaker 2: Ohio native. Throws it in front. Turned aside by Brent Burns.
• 5:44
Speaker 2: McKinnon trying to get it out. Stepping up is Blankenberg.
• 5:47
Speaker 2: Leafs throw it in front. Deflected off the far side wall.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: Now it's Austin Matthews high in the zone. Puck stayed
• 5:53
Speaker 2: on the blue paint. Top of the zone. Now McKinnon
• 5:56
Speaker 2: throws it all the way through. Nylander misses high. For
• 6:00
Speaker 2: his third point of the game, William Nylander. Kulak. Left
• 6:06
Speaker 2: side corner sends it ahead. Kept in by Nick Paul.
• 6:09
Speaker 2: As retired. Matthews. Nylander scores. Three goals in his career
• 6:22
Speaker 2: coming into this game for the Avalanche or against the
• 6:24
Speaker 2: Avalanche for William Nylander. And he's got two in this
• 6:27
  Speaker 2: period alone. Here's Parker Kelly, a drive. That's off a
• 6:32
Speaker 2: belly button and wide to the near wall. Failed clearance
• 6:35
Speaker 2: to run. Svechkov. Waugh will try it. Seymour Bobrovsky. Rebound
• 6:38
Speaker 2: is tossed to his right by Svechkov. This line has
• 6:42
Speaker 2: been very dangerous for the Avalanche. Waugh down the boards,
• 6:45
Speaker 2: into the corner. Parker Kelly has it. Off his skate
• 6:48
Speaker 2: for Svechkov. Throws it through. Passed Cale McCarr. And it
• 6:52
Speaker 2: just plinkos right to Kirill Martenko. He holds. Morgan Riley,
• 6:59
Speaker 2: ton of room, one-timer this game. Easton Cowan with a
• 7:03
Speaker 2: big celebration, a fist bump, and the Leafs take their
• 7:07
Speaker 2: second lead of the game. It's 4-3. The defensive structure
• 7:12
Speaker 2: for the Avalanche way too loose. A lot of space.
• 7:17
Speaker 2: Easton Cowan gets his third goal and goal in second straight.
• 7:22
Speaker 2: A one-timer from the far side. Hansen ahead. Able to
• 7:27
Speaker 2: work to get it back. Parker Kelly. Back for Josh Manson. Short-handed.
• 7:30
Speaker 2: Two-on-one developing here. Manson has a stick lifted. Manson down
• 7:34
Speaker 2: to the ice. Got a shot away. And that's a
• 7:36
Speaker 2: stick check on Manson. One of the penalty won't get it.
• 7:39
Speaker 2: Leaps come the opposite direction. It's Nylander. Far side half.
• 7:42
Speaker 2: Ball's fetched up on him. Back door. Matthews. He scores.
• 7:47
Speaker 2: Matthews celebrating like he's won something. Second power play goal
• 7:53
Speaker 2: of the game. Scored by Toronto. They lead 5-3 with 7.58
• 7:58
Speaker 2: to go in the third period. McKinnon wins the draw.
• 8:03
Speaker 2: Kadri got big. McCard towards the net. Blocked by the
• 8:06
Speaker 2: back of Austin Matthews. Into an open net he scores.
• 8:12
Speaker 2: A bunch of random Leafs fans are up celebrating. It's
• 8:15
Speaker 2: always weird in Denver, Colorado to have Leafs fans there.
• 8:19
Speaker 2: So Matthews gets his second of the game. Only had
• 8:25
Speaker 2: two goals in the previous five games. He gets two tonight.
• 8:30
Speaker 2: And the Leafs are going to get two points tonight.
• 8:34
Speaker 2: Ben Grew. Lost the block. All in the corner. Okay.
• 8:43
Speaker 2: Let's settle down. Two seconds left and that is it. Abs.
• 8:51
Speaker 2: Can't seem to beat Toronto ever on home ice. That
• 8:54
Speaker 2: trend continues. Colorado falls to two, five, and one in
• 8:58
Speaker 2: their last eight versus the Leafs here at Ball Arena.
• 9:02
Speaker 2: Final score tonight, Toronto six and the Avalanche three.
