  How is May looking for you? Well, it has had some surprising

  moments of warm weather in the middle of the day.

  It has been quite brisk. Early in the morning and our

  house is quite warm because we get a lot of sunshine and it

  makes things beautifully toasty. And then we go out and I made a

  terrible mistake yesterday of wearing like open shoes and

  shorts and it was like 13°. It can be deceptive.

  Our house really is warm, aren't we?

  Spoiled. Aren't we spoiled?

  Speaking of being spoiled, how do you how do you like that

  We get to sit down at the foot of this old wise king, King

  Who has anguish? Who has sorrow?

  Who is always fighting? Who is always complaining?

  Who has unnecessary bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

  It is the one who spends long hours in the Taverns trying out

  new drinks. Don't gaze at the wine, seeing

  how red it is, how it sparkles in the cup, how smoothly it goes

  down. For in the end, it bites like a

  poisonous snake. It stings like a Viper.

  You will see hallucinations and you will say crazy things.

  You will stagger like a sailor tossed at sea, clinging to a
• 2:22
  swaying mast. And you will say they hit me,

  but I didn't feel it. I didn't even know it when they

  beat me up. When will I wake up so I can

  look for another drink? Who has anguish?

  Wow, it's all about the lover of good drinks, but it really just

  talks about the art of seduction and how these dangerous things

  can look so tempting, right? I love how it says it sparkles

  in the cup, how smoothly it goes down, how red it is.

  Yes, we can. All.

  We all have things in our life that really I just seem so
• 4:09
  attractive and so hard to avoid, but are maybe not the best
• 4:14
  things for us. And and they're just little
• 4:17
  things, aren't they? Like that juicy little bit of

  gossip that you just want to share, even though you know it's
• 4:22
  not the right thing. Yeah, I'm sure we can all think
• 4:25
  of something that we could make some better decisions about, but
• 4:30
  one of the great decisions we've already made is trying to dive
• 4:33
  into God's Word, and that's a great start.
• 4:37
  It's not a we're not perfect and we're all on a journey.
• 4:40
  So thanks for joining with us as we read these.

  That's right. Oh Lord, thank you for your
• 4:46
  word. Thank you that you give us this
• 4:49
  guide and you give us your spirit, and you draw us forward
• 4:56
  day by day toward you through the challenges of life, through
• 5:00
  the sparkly, shiny, beautiful red glasses of wine that tempt
• 5:04
  us left and right. But you call us to a better way.
• 5:07
  You call us to your Kingdom way, where we look to the priorities
• 5:12
  that you show us of service, of love, of compassion, of
• 5:20
  selflessness, even when that doesn't seem like the easiest,
• 5:24
  most tempting thing in the moment.
• 5:27
  So Lord, thank you for your word and thank you for the chance to
• 5:30
  dip in each day. Ah, we love you, and we're
• 5:33
  grateful that you don't just love us from afar, but you
• 5:36
  journey with us and you give us this gift of your word.
• 5:41
  We thank you, we love you, and we praise you all in the name of
• 5:44
