- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:29Good morning from the Chicken Coop.
- 0:31So, talking today, about the fact that sometimes, we can't
- 0:37get out of our own way to accept help.
- 0:39And we just don't have the tendency to say, I'll take the
- 0:44help. The problem with this theory of
- 0:47like, not accepting help. Is that sometimes you actually
- 0:51need the help. Sometimes, you actually need the
- 0:54help, and you might not like it that you need help, but needing
- 0:58the help is part of being human. And Or it's just part of nature.
- 1:03So and it's obvious sometimes it's like right in front of us
- 1:06and we're just so stubborn, we can't see it.
- 1:08I'm going to tell you a story this morning about one of the
- 1:10chickens because it's so fits into this.
- 1:13So, in the chicken world, for those of you who don't know,
- 1:16there's something called going Broody which means you decide.
- 1:19You want to sit on eggs, you you want to make that journey to do,
- 1:2321 days of basically isolating yourself, doing nothing that
- 1:26your normal chicken Behavior allows and just sitting on eggs.
- 1:30For 21 days, you might get up for an hour each day, go off,
- 1:35get water, scratch around, eat some food but you go right back
- 1:38on and there, they almost go into a trance.
- 1:41It's very unique to watch it happen.
- 1:45Well, I have one that goes Broody regularly and she will
- 1:48just sit on eggs any time I want and she you I'm sure you've
- 1:52heard me talk about her. Winnie, she's amazing.
- 1:54She's one of the coolest chickens ever, but she's got a
- 1:57great attitude and then I had a whole group of once before.
- 2:01It's a Don eggs and they didn't do a good job and so I just
- 2:03don't let them do it anymore. But this season, I happen to
- 2:07have a couple of new ones that they're young, but they wanted
- 2:10to try to sit on eggs. So one of them is and they all
- 2:14do this in egg boxes which holds up the other chickens, they
- 2:17can't get in. So I'm always looking to see
- 2:20who's who I think is going to be the one that's going to be able
- 2:23to actually do it because when they don't do it, you end up
- 2:25with half fertilized eggs and it's awful.
- 2:28They're fertilized eggs but they hadn't but have to Philip tags.
- 2:31I should said, and it's an awful feeling to know that those eggs
- 2:35are sitting in there, and then, if I hatch them out without the
- 2:38mom, they don't get integrated into the group easily.
- 2:40It's very complicated, but it's not the point of my story.
- 2:43The point of my story is, so I see that this is happening.
- 2:47So there's one in there that I think.
- 2:51Okay, she seems like she's got a good attitude.
- 2:53She seems really friendly. I'm going to help her out.
- 2:56I'm going to move her over to the brooder.
- 2:58I take eggs. I move her into Different spot
- 3:01in the coop. So she's protected from the
- 3:03other chickens she can sit on them as long as she wants and
- 3:07the babies will be protected and it's it's like a system that we
- 3:10created. So I move her over there.
- 3:13Immediately, she gets up. She goes back to where she was
- 3:16like, okay I'm trying to help you.
- 3:18Let me help you. If you stay over here and I'm
- 3:20talking to her and I put her in there again, she gets up and she
- 3:23goes so we do this because sometimes it's just hard to get
- 3:27them to face like, you know. Okay, I'm going to move.
- 3:30And I do this approximately 10 times and she still doesn't get
- 3:35it. She still doesn't get it.
- 3:36She still doesn't get it. And in the meantime, there's
- 3:39another chicken over there. Marilyn Monroe.
- 3:41That's happens to be her name and she's doing the same thing.
- 3:45She's got the same behavior, so I'm like, okay, she's a little
- 3:47scarier as a chicken. She's very big and she has an
- 3:50attitude, and she's beautiful. So, I'm like, okay, I don't know
- 3:54if Marilyn can do this. So, I put Marilyn in there and
- 3:58Marilyn gets up and goes away just like the other one did.
- 4:00I'm like, okay, move her, put her back, move her, put her
- 4:03back. And I'm like, Marilyn.
- 4:04Let me turn to help you. If you stay in here you can have
- 4:07babies. Same thing.
- 4:09I did with the other one. Guess what happens?
- 4:12Marilyn doesn't get up. Now, it's a month later. 21 days
- 4:17later. I should say.
- 4:18We now have babies that are hatched and the other one that
- 4:22would not accept the help is still trying to convince Give me
- 4:27that she should sit in those eggs in the boxes.
- 4:29She's as I speak right now, she's back in there again.
- 4:32Now I tried to help her and she didn't accept help.
- 4:35Now, it's a silly story about a chicken but where does this show
- 4:39up in your own life? Where does this show up in your
- 4:42life? Were someone's trying to help
- 4:44you and you don't accept help whether it and you don't even
- 4:48see it. Now, I get it, the chicken
- 4:50didn't see that. I was trying to help her.
- 4:51I'm not insane. She was just focused.
- 4:54And that's what Ins. But it's a great example for you
- 4:58to pay attention to one chicken took the help ended up with her
- 5:02outcome. The other chicken took no help
- 5:05and didn't get her outcome, and she still looking for her
- 5:08outcome and I just find that utterly fascinating because you
- 5:13got to accept some help in life. We all have to accept some help
- 5:18whether we like it or not, we are just absolutely
- 5:23interdependent. We have to be Allowing ourselves
- 5:27to believe that we are not in a bubble by ourselves.
- 5:31We have to help each other, it's just part of what we do so
- 5:35whether you're used to it or not is irrelevant whether you're
- 5:38willing to accept? It is what's relevant.
- 5:41So you have to think about this allow people to help you allow
- 5:46people to put you in a position where you can say the words.
- 5:52Yes. And even though you might feel
- 5:55foreign to you, You accept it, get past yourself, allow
- 5:58yourself to see the greatness and letting you know that help
- 6:02come in to help you as well as them.
- 6:05Because let's forget part of the process of helping other people
- 6:09is to fill ourselves back up. That's why I volunteer work is
- 6:13often so great for people when you go and you volunteer, you
- 6:16feel good when you stop and do something good for other people,
- 6:20you feel good inside because you feel like you did something that
- 6:25matters. For once, instead of just
- 6:27constantly doing a to-do list, constantly doing chores, when we
- 6:31do that, it changes us. So your challenge is go except
- 6:36some help today or ask for help allow help to be present in your
- 6:42world and maybe you'll have some eggs.
- 6:44I hope you guys have a blessed day.
- 6:46I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.
