- 0:03Well,
- 0:03Penn State is the biggest embarrassment in
- 0:05college football now.
- 0:08Let's talk about that next.
- 0:21I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:22I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:24I always take what I want and I
- 0:26always give it one hundred.
- 0:27Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:28Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:30I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:31Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:33Now wake up!
- 0:34It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:37Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:39friend to me.
- 0:40It's not working out,
- 0:41maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:42It's time to break up so I can
- 0:44make a better me.
- 0:46It is lunch time!
- 0:49still need to record that green olive so
- 0:53we're here it's lunchtime uh yesterday we
- 0:56tried to stay on the air as long
- 0:58as we could to see the announcement they
- 1:00made it go so long we had to
- 1:02get back to work shout out chase and
- 1:07uh so anyway uh yes yes jay birchett
- 1:12is rudy on the thumbnail oh
- 1:17yes um i sent it to lynette the
- 1:22of rudy as a superhero and she loved
- 1:26it and got it got to have a
- 1:28nice conversation with lynette this
- 1:30morning so that's always a good thing good
- 1:35people um where do i want to start
- 1:37today
- 1:39I want to start with,
- 1:40if you guys didn't see,
- 1:43our very own Kat is back.
- 1:46She has uploaded a status video,
- 1:50a get ready with me video,
- 1:52I think is what the kids are calling
- 1:53it.
- 1:53That is what it is.
- 1:54I watched it yesterday.
- 1:57and to update everybody about where she is
- 2:01in her relationship stuff again.
- 2:03So looks like she's back and we'll
- 2:06probably be doing some shows,
- 2:08but you know what,
- 2:09what kills me is now that I have
- 2:13her video has been uploaded.
- 2:15We, we uploaded some stuff to Instagram.
- 2:18Now Lauren Khalil pops up in my algorithm.
- 2:23Why does that have to happen?
- 2:27Those two things are not the same.
- 2:30They're not.
- 2:31They're just not.
- 2:33That's funny though.
- 2:37I know they both have done relationship as
- 2:39shows.
- 2:40Right.
- 2:41But that's about where it's,
- 2:42and they both do CrossFit.
- 2:44That's about where it stops.
- 2:46Yeah.
- 2:48So now I'm getting all the Lauren Khalil
- 2:50videos.
- 2:52Awesome to see her again.
- 2:54Hey, Lauren, how you doing?
- 2:57Bye, Lauren.
- 2:58Yeah, pop back right up.
- 2:59Now that I've loaded all those up,
- 3:01it's weird how Instagram works.
- 3:02The algorithm is something else, dude.
- 3:07Before we dive into the big news,
- 3:10I was watching The Spin last night,
- 3:12and I have to have this conversation with
- 3:14you.
- 3:16You never know what's going to get me
- 3:17fired up watching that show.
- 3:18That's a fact.
- 3:20Is it the banter?
- 3:22Is it what they said?
- 3:25And...
- 3:29They were talking last night.
- 3:30Someone in the chat compared the spin,
- 3:33or Brian's spin, to Ray Barone.
- 3:35Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:38For people who don't know who Ray Barone
- 3:40is,
- 3:40he is the character that Ray Romano plays
- 3:43on Everybody Loves Raymond.
- 3:45Yeah, that was... Buford did that.
- 3:52Well,
- 3:52it's not pertinent to the argument that I
- 3:55have going on.
- 3:55Gotcha.
- 3:56And then...
- 3:58john went off about why would you ever
- 4:02use the character just say ray romano well
- 4:07i can see that in that specific case
- 4:10because ray romano the person and ray
- 4:12barone the character are pretty damn
- 4:14similar right very close yeah but when
- 4:17you're using analogies or comparisons with
- 4:22people it is very dependent sometimes on
- 4:24the character that that person is playing
- 4:29So they tried to use Brad Pitt,
- 4:31and I believe his character from Fight
- 4:33Club.
- 4:34No, it was... Oh,
- 4:39it would have come to me in a
- 4:40minute.
- 4:44It wasn't Tyler Durden.
- 4:45It was somebody else.
- 4:46It was another Brad Pitt character.
- 4:49Oh, from Inglourious Bastards.
- 4:51Okay,
- 4:52so that makes my point exactly right.
- 4:56Brad Pitt plays a completely different
- 4:58character in Inglourious Bastards that he
- 5:00does in Fight Club.
- 5:02And using the character name could be
- 5:04pertinent to the comparison or the story.
- 5:08That is correct.
- 5:09Yes, Alderaan.
- 5:12Alderaan, yes.
- 5:14Yes.
- 5:15So them saying that you should use the
- 5:18real person name instead of the character
- 5:20name,
- 5:21it is all dependent on the story you're
- 5:23telling and what imagery you want to put
- 5:27in the audience's mind.
- 5:30Absolutely.
- 5:32Right.
- 5:33Aldo Rain is not Brad Pitt.
- 5:36Brad Pitt plays Aldo Rain,
- 5:38but Brad Pitt is Brad Pitt and Aldo
- 5:40Rain is Aldo Rain.
- 5:42Right.
- 5:43Brad Pitt in Inglourious Basterds and Brad
- 5:46Pitt in Fight Club and Brad Pitt in
- 5:48Ocean's Eleven are completely different
- 5:50characters.
- 5:52And depending on the imagery that you want
- 5:54to portray,
- 5:56you're going to go with the character that
- 5:59best suits that story.
- 6:03On a tangent of that,
- 6:05Brad Pitt as Rusty in Ocean's Eleven is
- 6:08one of my favorite Brad Pitt characters
- 6:11ever.
- 6:12I just like, I love that.
- 6:14He's always eating a sandwich.
- 6:16He's always eating something.
- 6:17Right.
- 6:18Every time he comes on camera, he's got,
- 6:19he's, it doesn't matter what it is.
- 6:22It's fantastic.
- 6:25Uh,
- 6:25Mickey from the snatch is my spirit
- 6:27animal.
- 6:28You like dags.
- 6:31Um,
- 6:33Yeah,
- 6:33so Jay Burch used the character name.
- 6:37Sometimes you want the story is the
- 6:41person, and then it fits, right?
- 6:44But generally,
- 6:44when you're telling a story and you're
- 6:46trying to get imagery,
- 6:49you go with the character name.
- 6:53That's what I would do.
- 6:54I mean, if I'm talking about, oh, Lord,
- 6:59if we stay on the Brad Pitt thing,
- 7:00like if I'm talking about Rusty,
- 7:01I'm talking about Rusty,
- 7:02I'm not talking about Brad Pitt.
- 7:04comparing somebody to that and i'm
- 7:06comparing them to that character to what
- 7:08he did not to actual brad pitt because
- 7:10first of all i don't know about brad
- 7:12pitt i know a whole lot about rusty
- 7:16i know a whole lot about aldo rain
- 7:18i know a whole lot about tyler durden
- 7:20but i don't know much about brad pitt
- 7:22except that he was married to angelina
- 7:24jolie for quite some time and he built
- 7:26some houses and he built some houses in
- 7:28new orleans after katrina
- 7:32That's about where it starts and stops.
- 7:37Maybe in my top five movies of all
- 7:38time.
- 7:39Dude.
- 7:42There are so many little intricacies in
- 7:44that that tell what really happened when
- 7:48you go back and watch it the second
- 7:50time.
- 7:50I've probably seen it twenty times.
- 7:55When I had cable,
- 7:57every time it was on, I stopped.
- 8:00Why do they always paint hallways that
- 8:02colorful?
- 8:09They say Tope is very soothing.
- 8:11And Casey Affleck and...
- 8:14The characters in that are so...
- 8:16Don Cheadle's character is so unique.
- 8:21Scott Kahn and Casey Affleck are freaking
- 8:24insane.
- 8:25The whole thing,
- 8:26every bit character adds depth and color
- 8:31to that movie.
- 8:31A hundred percent.
- 8:35A hundred percent.
- 8:37So anyway,
- 8:40I just had to get that off my
- 8:41chest.
- 8:43No, I'm with you.
- 8:43One hundred percent.
- 8:45Yeah.
- 8:46And we always dive into that kind of
- 8:47stuff.
- 8:47And so that's why I wanted to talk
- 8:49to it, uh, with you.
- 8:51Let me just make sense.
- 8:55Oh, Tom Hagen.
- 8:56Yep.
- 8:57Tom Hagen is very different from Gus
- 8:59McCray.
- 9:03It's very different from, uh,
- 9:05I don't even remember what his name was
- 9:06in days of thunder,
- 9:07but it's one of my favorite movies too.
- 9:12I don't know who that is, man.
- 9:14Oh yeah, you do.
- 9:16Is it Robert Duvall or is it Robert
- 9:18Duvall?
- 9:18Okay.
- 9:18Yeah.
- 9:22Robert Duvall is awesome.
- 9:25His character in days of thunder is
- 9:26freaking amazing.
- 9:27And can't come in right now.
- 9:32What?
- 9:33Why not?
- 9:34We're, uh,
- 9:35Eating ice cream.
- 9:41We still, to this day, I tell people,
- 9:43look, if you give me an honest run,
- 9:47I guarantee you, I'm going to beat you.
- 9:53I say that coaching.
- 9:54I use that when I'm coaching sometimes.
- 9:58You do this workout your way and you
- 10:00do it my way and I guarantee you,
- 10:02I'm going to beat you.
- 10:03Every single time.
- 10:06Yeah, it's funny.
- 10:07The first time I ever did Grace RX,
- 10:12I was just starting CrossFit.
- 10:13I thought, I can clean and jerk.
- 10:16And the coach is like,
- 10:19you really should scale this.
- 10:22To get the stimulus we're looking for,
- 10:24you need to scale this.
- 10:25I'm like, yeah, but I can do this.
- 10:27And I was very argumentative,
- 10:28and I'm generally not that way.
- 10:31And the coach is like, okay,
- 10:33let's see how this goes.
- 10:36Basically, like, you do it your way,
- 10:38and then when you're done,
- 10:40we'll talk about it,
- 10:40and then you're going to end up doing
- 10:41it my way.
- 10:42And, uh, uh, uh, seventeen minutes later,
- 10:47after many fails,
- 10:51I was not ready for Rx.
- 10:53As it turns out,
- 10:55I probably should have listened.
- 10:57Yeah,
- 10:57Coach kind of knew what he was talking
- 10:58about.
- 10:59Yeah.
- 10:59Harry Hall, yep.
- 11:04Yeah.
- 11:08All right.
- 11:09Well, Vicky joined,
- 11:09so now we can talk about the real
- 11:10stuff.
- 11:11Oh, thank God.
- 11:13We were waiting for her to get here.
- 11:14Yeah.
- 11:15It's hard to hold it for so long.
- 11:18But she finally made it.
- 11:19I'm glad.
- 11:23So there was a big announcement yesterday,
- 11:25and that is that the age groups and
- 11:28adaptive athletes are going to be
- 11:30competing in San Jose the week of the
- 11:36CrossFit Games.
- 11:38At roughly the same time as he is.
- 11:43So the Masters are going to have their
- 11:49own show for three days, Tuesday,
- 11:53Wednesday, Thursday,
- 11:55the week of the CrossFit Games.
- 11:58They will be at the convention center?
- 11:59Yes.
- 12:01It is the, I have it here,
- 12:04the McHenry Convention Center in San Jose,
- 12:07California.
- 12:11It is, according to Amanda Harry,
- 12:13who lives in that area,
- 12:15it is eight-tenths of a mile from the
- 12:17SAP Center.
- 12:18Oh, okay.
- 12:21Right down the street.
- 12:21Yeah, so less than a mile.
- 12:24We're all CrossFitters.
- 12:26We can walk eight-tenths of a mile.
- 12:28Pretty sure.
- 12:32Um, with that,
- 12:34then comes Friday and then the teens,
- 12:38the adaptive and the elite are all going
- 12:40to go on those three weeks.
- 12:48I missed that part of it yesterday.
- 12:49Okay.
- 12:49That's different.
- 12:51So there's been confusion because when
- 12:55Heather Lawrence was saying it on the
- 12:56podcast,
- 12:58it merged and sounded and Barbell Spin
- 13:01reported that they're all going to be at
- 13:03the SAP Center.
- 13:04I don't think that's physically possible.
- 13:07No, I'm going to tell you, Nate.
- 13:10Because the biggest beef with the adaptive
- 13:13being at the games was their floor setup
- 13:16has to be completely different than the
- 13:18elite athletes because of the wheelchairs
- 13:21and the different equipment they have to
- 13:22get on the floor.
- 13:24Just accommodations, right?
- 13:25To make the accommodations for them being
- 13:27on the floor.
- 13:27Yeah, absolutely.
- 13:28Right.
- 13:29So my guess is that the teens and
- 13:33the adapters will be at the convention
- 13:34center going simultaneously while the
- 13:38elites are going on at the SAP center.
- 13:43That makes the most sense to me.
- 13:45Yeah.
- 13:47I mean,
- 13:48I don't see why they would have it.
- 13:51They're not going to do it opposite way.
- 13:53Right.
- 13:54They're not going to swap out.
- 13:55Yeah.
- 13:56Right.
- 13:56The elites go into the convention center,
- 13:58so yeah, that makes the most sense.
- 14:01I do think it's interesting and point for
- 14:04us old athletes that Orange is going to
- 14:07be completely separate as far as time
- 14:09domain is concerned, right?
- 14:10Like,
- 14:12there's not going to be anything else
- 14:13going on.
- 14:14You want to watch the Masters?
- 14:14You can go and just watch the Masters
- 14:17while it's happening.
- 14:17I think that's pretty cool.
- 14:21And I'm assuming that for
- 14:23The reason they do it like they did
- 14:24is because everything's going to be at
- 14:26that place, the convention center.
- 14:29So you want to watch the teams and
- 14:31adapters?
- 14:31Okay, cool.
- 14:32You're going to have to make a choice.
- 14:37Andrew Sten,
- 14:37I've been told other divisions might do
- 14:39one or two events at the SAP center.
- 14:42What I could see is like highlighting some
- 14:44of the divisions,
- 14:47like say the thirty five to thirty nine,
- 14:48the forty to forty four go to the
- 14:51SAP center to do one event.
- 14:55The teens, it's only four divisions.
- 14:57Have them go do an event at the
- 15:01SAP Center.
- 15:02Adaptive.
- 15:03There's no way you're getting sixteen
- 15:05different divisions to go to the SAP
- 15:08Center to do an event.
- 15:10It would have to be a highlight of
- 15:15lower extremity, blah, blah, blah,
- 15:17upper extremity, blah, blah, blah.
- 15:20It would have to be a pick a
- 15:22thing.
- 15:22Like, okay,
- 15:22we're going to showcase these guys right
- 15:24here.
- 15:25Like I said,
- 15:26God bless them for all of that,
- 15:28that separate program and doing that.
- 15:30The more you think about that stuff,
- 15:32the more you think about it.
- 15:33You've got to write all the same.
- 15:35Yep.
- 15:35I mean,
- 15:39if you've watched the last couple of
- 15:40years, it, they've done a great job.
- 15:43Like Bill Grundler kills that as,
- 15:45as sitting there all day through all those
- 15:47divisions and,
- 15:51And all of the different setups with the
- 15:54rowers, the setups with the bikes,
- 15:56the setups,
- 15:57and how they have to do all that.
- 15:59It's insanity.
- 16:00And that's why this can't happen,
- 16:02Jonathan.
- 16:04They can't flip-flop back and forth.
- 16:06In Madison,
- 16:07they only allowed five of the divisions of
- 16:10adaptive athletes to show up at Madison
- 16:14because that's what could work on the
- 16:15floor at the same time.
- 16:18None of the wheelchair divisions got to go
- 16:21because it's just too much to set up
- 16:25and tear down.
- 16:26Where if you have the convention centers,
- 16:28if you've been to the age group games
- 16:30in the last couple of years,
- 16:31they have multiple floors.
- 16:33They can have an adaptive dedicated floor
- 16:37that switches in and out and a teen
- 16:39floor that is just a straight setup.
- 16:43From what you said last year right there
- 16:46by your house,
- 16:46they could have did
- 16:48they could have had the adapters in there
- 16:49as well.
- 16:49Cause there was enough room in that place,
- 16:51right?
- 16:51In Columbus,
- 16:51they could have had everything.
- 16:52There was so much unused space in the,
- 16:54in what they had last year.
- 16:57Um,
- 16:57which is insane because the crowds around
- 17:00the floors were so big.
- 17:01You could,
- 17:01you couldn't even get like a sightline at
- 17:04times.
- 17:06Um,
- 17:07So I hope those crowds remain and maybe
- 17:09grow in San Jose because people will go
- 17:13for both now instead of having to pick
- 17:15between the two.
- 17:17Two different trips is too much to ask
- 17:19for a CrossFit fan.
- 17:20But if you're all going to the same
- 17:22place at the same time,
- 17:23people will go watch both.
- 17:27And the smart part about this is that
- 17:31big masters group are fans of CrossFit,
- 17:34and when they are done competing,
- 17:36they're going to move over and watch the
- 17:38elites.
- 17:40And then your crowds are going to get
- 17:41bigger.
- 17:45Yeah, absolutely.
- 17:47I like what Vicky says right there.
- 17:52While elites are at the ranch on Thursday,
- 17:54Masters can use SAP.
- 17:57What's hard to tell, though, Vicky,
- 17:58is the dates of the CrossFit Games still
- 18:03for the elites are just the Friday,
- 18:05Saturday, Sunday.
- 18:07They are, but Dave Castro did say that,
- 18:12yes, those are the hard dates,
- 18:14but we can work with that.
- 18:21Right.
- 18:21But you don't know if they have access,
- 18:25how much access they have to the SAP
- 18:27center to set up for that weekend.
- 18:30And do they have time to get it
- 18:31done to bring in the masters on Thursday?
- 18:38Right.
- 18:39I understand that.
- 18:41Jar Jar loves CrossFit.
- 18:43Those are the dates for the SAP Center.
- 18:45Vicky is saying bringing the Masters
- 18:47athletes in on Thursday.
- 18:49That is for the SAP Center.
- 18:53We don't know what kind of logistics all
- 18:56of that is.
- 18:59It's just for the final.
- 19:02That's what I would think.
- 19:04You have most of the stuff over here,
- 19:05and then for the final,
- 19:06you get to go back on the floor
- 19:07where the elites are going to be the
- 19:09following day.
- 19:12Uh, Jake says,
- 19:13I don't see anyone can find negatives
- 19:14here, but I'm sure they will.
- 19:16Absolutely.
- 19:17They will.
- 19:17You can bet people.
- 19:18If there's a chance, right here,
- 19:21last year,
- 19:22I got to sleep in my own bed
- 19:23and go to the age group CrossFit games.
- 19:25Now I don't get to sleep in my
- 19:26own bed.
- 19:29And it's all about me.
- 19:32Not only do you not have to sleep,
- 19:33can't sleep in your own bed.
- 19:34You need to, uh, extend your stay.
- 19:38reschedule your flights so you can catch
- 19:40the Masters before they leave.
- 19:42Well, I haven't made flights yet,
- 19:44but I do have a hotel,
- 19:46but it starts on Wednesday.
- 19:48Now I'm going to have to back it
- 19:49up.
- 19:51Crying shades.
- 19:54Was Spin saying the Vendor Village would
- 19:55be hard to get to again?
- 19:57I didn't watch all of the Spin last
- 19:58night.
- 19:59I was so tired.
- 20:04I don't know.
- 20:06I'm assuming...
- 20:09I don't know.
- 20:12If I'm CrossFit,
- 20:14I put the vendor village in the convention
- 20:16center.
- 20:16I probably have enough room to really ramp
- 20:19it up.
- 20:19I have that space already using it for
- 20:21adaptives and age group and masters.
- 20:24Just go ahead and set up the vendor
- 20:25village there.
- 20:25It's eight tenths of a mile.
- 20:28Eight tenths of a mile.
- 20:31Jake tells me you poor thing.
- 20:33I know.
- 20:33You poor baby.
- 20:37You can't sleep in your own bed.
- 20:37I know.
- 20:38It's all about me.
- 20:39Um,
- 20:49I didn't know they'd be doing something
- 20:50Thursday, not open to the public.
- 20:52I completely agree with all of those
- 20:54assessments that there will be probably
- 20:56something at the ranch on Thursday,
- 20:58but it doesn't mean that it opens up
- 21:00the SAP center on that day.
- 21:03The SAP center is scheduled from Friday to
- 21:05Sunday.
- 21:06There has to be a lot of setup
- 21:07done and we don't know how much in
- 21:10advance they have to set up that location.
- 21:14Okay.
- 21:15Those are logistics we don't know and
- 21:17can't know at this point.
- 21:19Heather Lawrence probably knows.
- 21:21Dave Castro probably knows.
- 21:23But we don't at this time.
- 21:26I'd say it's a safe bet Dave probably
- 21:28knows.
- 21:32But you might get better cred, Scott.
- 21:34Well, it's still run by legends.
- 21:37The master's piece is still run by
- 21:38legends.
- 21:40I don't have a great relationship with
- 21:41them.
- 21:42I thought I had built one.
- 21:43Apparently it didn't happen.
- 21:45But I have a great relationship with
- 21:47CrossFit right now.
- 21:48If they remain in charge,
- 21:50I'm confident I'll get good creds for
- 21:53that.
- 21:55I don't know.
- 21:56That's the other piece, right?
- 21:58It's Masters by Legends, Teens by Pit,
- 22:02Adaptive by Wheelwod.
- 22:03The three organizations that have been
- 22:05running those three events are still
- 22:08running those events,
- 22:09meaning programming is probably going to
- 22:11be done by them,
- 22:12meaning that the setup is going to be
- 22:14done by them.
- 22:15But I don't know how it's all going
- 22:16to work from like a revenue stream of
- 22:19sponsorships, attire,
- 22:22all of that stuff all being done in
- 22:24the same location.
- 22:31larry young i'm like this is pretty good
- 22:33trying not to nitpick it yeah yeah
- 22:37honestly i don't really i've wanted the
- 22:39festival feel again i think that's
- 22:42important at this state of where crossfit
- 22:45is today you need all of those people
- 22:48there to make it look busy to have
- 22:51the crowds come in
- 22:53Um, I, you know,
- 22:55speaking to masters athletes,
- 22:56they always love when they're with the
- 22:58elites at the same place at the same
- 23:00time.
- 23:01So I know the athletes love it from
- 23:04a, a media perspective.
- 23:06It's one trip for us instead of several.
- 23:11Um, so yeah,
- 23:15I really don't see much of a downside
- 23:17at all.
- 23:19The festival field thing, dude,
- 23:20so now it starts on Tuesday and runs
- 23:22all the way through the weekend.
- 23:24And there's something going on every day.
- 23:26Masters events.
- 23:28Once you get the weekend,
- 23:29there's the wheel lot and there's the
- 23:31teams and then the elites are going.
- 23:33There's something happening every single
- 23:35day.
- 23:36It's going to keep people engaged.
- 23:37People that get there early that want to
- 23:39just hang out in San Jose,
- 23:40they can go and it's going to be
- 23:42good for the town.
- 23:43It's going to be good for, you know,
- 23:45this is a big thing, dude,
- 23:46that's last pretty much an entire week.
- 23:49I don't see much of a downside, really,
- 23:52at all.
- 23:54Can we start a betting pool?
- 23:55Will there be something at the ranch or
- 23:57not?
- 23:58The odds on that are so in the
- 24:00favor of it happening.
- 24:03I don't know who would take the other
- 24:04side of the bet.
- 24:05It'd be a good heat one bet.
- 24:09Oh,
- 24:09there's people out there that would take
- 24:11that bet.
- 24:15Larry,
- 24:15because your show hammers the shit out of
- 24:17their programming.
- 24:19listen i refrain from from hammering them
- 24:24until i got screwed this year with access
- 24:29i got i got them things that they
- 24:31didn't have before because i live here i
- 24:34got them contacts with people to help save
- 24:37them money and none of that was received
- 24:41with any kind of scratch my back scratch
- 24:45your back um
- 24:47So yeah, I'm bitter about it,
- 24:49and I'll admit it.
- 24:51And so my take on what they've done
- 24:54has that as a bias.
- 25:02I'm going to say it.
- 25:04It's my bias.
- 25:05But our show's not the only one that
- 25:06hammers the hell out of their programming.
- 25:08Go to anybody else and they hammer the
- 25:10hell out of their programming.
- 25:11Go ask Bill and Chase about it.
- 25:18Jake,
- 25:19they should have a live music stage with
- 25:21no country music whatsoever.
- 25:23Just EDM and whatever Dave listens to.
- 25:28I would be shocked to learn that Dave
- 25:29actually listens to music on a regular
- 25:31basis.
- 25:31He just doesn't seem like the type.
- 25:34He's a big Post Malone fan.
- 25:35He's admitted it.
- 25:36Get out of here.
- 25:37Really?
- 25:39And he actually knows Post Malone.
- 25:42Post Malone seems like one of the kindest
- 25:44dudes on the face of the planet.
- 25:46Meredith says,
- 25:47Sharpie in regard to an event at the
- 25:48ranch.
- 25:49I love that you pull our game show
- 25:51over.
- 25:56Frida says,
- 25:56both ranch and a beach would be a
- 25:58better bet.
- 25:59Not going to the beach.
- 26:01No way are they doing an ocean swim.
- 26:03Not happening.
- 26:05Not happening.
- 26:05Not getting anywhere closer to the water
- 26:07than however far the SAP Center is away
- 26:11from the water.
- 26:12Not this year.
- 26:15Larry, it's not because it's heavy.
- 26:18It's because it has no gymnastics at all.
- 26:23So
- 26:24And I talked to Boz at the games
- 26:26last year, the age group games and said,
- 26:29you don't even have a gymnastics event
- 26:31until event seven.
- 26:32And then event nine is after the cut.
- 26:36So you have two gymnastics events and one
- 26:38half the field doesn't even get to do.
- 26:40That was my biggest complaint about their
- 26:42programming.
- 26:43Not that it was heavy.
- 26:44You're quoting Jamie, not me.
- 26:46Which to be fair,
- 26:52Jamie's going to complain about no matter
- 26:55what it is, about she can't do it.
- 26:58She goes out and smashes whatever it is.
- 26:59So that's just her nature.
- 27:04Dave listens to screaming men in his
- 27:05headphones.
- 27:08Dave is the father of a teenage girl.
- 27:11I was the father of a teenage girl.
- 27:13I am telling you that that takes over
- 27:16your playlist completely.
- 27:20I still have all my Spotify daddy-daughter
- 27:22mix.
- 27:25I have an entire playlist online just
- 27:27called Jameson's Playlist because it's
- 27:29stuff that I put on whenever she's in
- 27:31the car with me.
- 27:32And that daddy-daughter play mix is just
- 27:35songs we both agree on.
- 27:37Yeah.
- 27:38It was like, okay,
- 27:39we can both tolerate this one.
- 27:41We can both tolerate that one.
- 27:42Oh, dude.
- 27:44She got a hold to it and started
- 27:46adding like,
- 27:48or I say started,
- 27:49added some ridiculous amount of Taylor
- 27:51Swift songs without telling me or asking
- 27:54me rather.
- 27:55And like,
- 27:56I went to put it on one day
- 27:57and like some Taylor Swift song came
- 27:58around.
- 27:58Whoa, what is this?
- 28:01She started laughing.
- 28:01She's in the backseat.
- 28:02I said, what is happening right now?
- 28:05And I skipped it and another one came
- 28:06on.
- 28:07So if you know,
- 28:07if you've got that thing on random and
- 28:10you skip and the same artist comes back
- 28:11up, there's a lot of that on there.
- 28:14Oh yeah.
- 28:14I started scrolling through.
- 28:15I was like, bro, what did you do?
- 28:18She's like, Daddy,
- 28:19put some Taylor Swift on there.
- 28:20I'm like, this is not some, bro.
- 28:21This looks like all of it,
- 28:22but we're not doing that.
- 28:23The entire era's tour on that?
- 28:26More or less, yeah.
- 28:26More or less.
- 28:28There's a ridiculous amount of it.
- 28:29Way more than I am prepared to listen
- 28:31to.
- 28:32I put it to you like that.
- 28:39Post used to come shooting with my old
- 28:41boss.
- 28:42That's cool.
- 28:46I like Spicy Scott.
- 28:47I've been a lot like, yeah,
- 28:51this show allows me to be more spicy
- 28:53and I, and I love it.
- 28:54I love that.
- 28:55I have the freedom to just be that
- 28:57way.
- 29:05Uh, they did have ring muscle ups though.
- 29:09Okay.
- 29:11They also, yeah, I don't read,
- 29:14I don't want to rehash the age group
- 29:15games.
- 29:17My kids listen to Korn and Sleep Token.
- 29:23That's a wild combination of things,
- 29:25by the way,
- 29:25because I don't think Korn's put out a
- 29:26new album in freaking twenty years.
- 29:32Yeah.
- 29:33The one of kind of my era stuff,
- 29:37she liked Linkin Park and she liked
- 29:38Shinedown.
- 29:40So I got into our playlist together.
- 29:45i can't work with that a lot of
- 29:46it then i also have like jonas brothers
- 29:48and gosh i don't even know who else
- 29:52anymore i had to put i say had
- 29:59to i put some stuff on there that
- 30:01i knew she was like put some stuff
- 30:02on there that she discovered that she
- 30:04liked then i had to put some stuff
- 30:05on there that she asked me to which
- 30:07was like the duck song and i don't
- 30:12know
- 30:13Some other like straight up kid stuff.
- 30:14I mean,
- 30:15she was seven at the time when I
- 30:19made it.
- 30:19My kids were raised on Green Day.
- 30:23I like some Green Day.
- 30:25The first album, or say the first album,
- 30:28Dookie was fantastic.
- 30:29If you could have worn out a CD.
- 30:31Dookie to American Idiot, I like.
- 30:35Post-American Idiot, I'm a little bit.
- 30:37Nice, Dookie.
- 30:44I was lucky my daughter was predominantly
- 30:46into old school artists like Queen and Tom
- 30:48Petty.
- 30:48Thank God.
- 30:49My daughter got into Queen when we were
- 30:51collecting.
- 30:52So we both collect vinyl.
- 30:54And she has the whole Queen collection.
- 30:58Nice.
- 31:02And I don't have any Queen because it's
- 31:04too damn expensive for me to pay for
- 31:06it.
- 31:06You can't ever find it used because it's
- 31:10hard to get.
- 31:11She was going to work over it.
- 31:14People that have it aren't selling it.
- 31:16They ain't coming up off of it.
- 31:18No.
- 31:18How about Greg Glassman yesterday dogging
- 31:21all of my favorite groups from high
- 31:22school?
- 31:26Saying that twenty four hour fitness
- 31:28crunch fitness were like Journey,
- 31:31Sticks and Boston.
- 31:35All the same.
- 31:37And of course,
- 31:38vinyl of all three of those bands.
- 31:42First of all,
- 31:42Sticks is not like either one of those
- 31:44two.
- 31:45I'll give him Journey and Boston being
- 31:47similar, but Sticks,
- 31:49that's a whole progressive rock thing
- 31:51going on.
- 31:52That's a whole different type of... Yeah.
- 31:58Greg wasn't lying, and I love those bands.
- 32:02Same, same, Scott.
- 32:09David Reed to Vicky,
- 32:10that's called Solid Parenting.
- 32:14Kids only know what you teach them until
- 32:16they leave your house and get exposed to
- 32:19other stuff.
- 32:19Once they get friends that are like,
- 32:20you should listen to this,
- 32:22then it's all downhill.
- 32:23But if you start them young,
- 32:24listening to the stuff that is good that
- 32:27you want them to listen to,
- 32:28that's what they're going to know.
- 32:30Yeah.
- 32:31Yeah.
- 32:34Good parenting.
- 32:36A hundred percent.
- 32:38Solid parenting.
- 32:39Welcome.
- 32:44I don't even know whether to put this
- 32:45up or not.
- 32:46You have to read it if you do,
- 32:48because it took me a second.
- 32:54Freddie Mercury's Russian husband was
- 32:56called Love to Suck Him Off.
- 32:58That's it.
- 33:06Vicky, haha.
- 33:07Yeah,
- 33:07it led to discovering the Beatles and so
- 33:09much more on her own.
- 33:12my daughter loved the beatles but my
- 33:14daughter like we've talked about this on
- 33:16the show she was saxophone flute player um
- 33:20she learned taught herself ukulele
- 33:23keyboards we went through i went and saw
- 33:30a cover band called that was just straight
- 33:33up beatles stuff and they did like maybe
- 33:36they had a couple of different admissions
- 33:37and they come back out dressed as like
- 33:39they started off you know with the
- 33:41bowl cuts and whatnot.
- 33:42And then they would come out and they
- 33:43ended up with like Sergeant Pepper stuff.
- 33:46It was phenomenal.
- 33:49It was one of the best still to
- 33:50this day,
- 33:50one of the best shows I've ever seen.
- 33:51And I was like,
- 33:53reminded me of how much I actually like
- 33:55this Beatles music is pretty cool.
- 33:56Then I saw, uh, across the universe,
- 34:01which is a musical.
- 34:02Oh yeah.
- 34:03That everybody does their own singing on.
- 34:06They work the songs into the,
- 34:08like you use a song to tell it,
- 34:09to tell the story.
- 34:11Dude, that is some good stuff right there.
- 34:13That is some real good stuff right there.
- 34:15It was a little too trippy for me.
- 34:18It moved a little more into the
- 34:20hallucinogenic era of the Beatles.
- 34:22Once they got into that part of it.
- 34:25But yeah, I mean, I get it.
- 34:26It was good.
- 34:28I just enjoyed it because I like the
- 34:30way that they...
- 34:30I like the takes that they did on
- 34:32the music.
- 34:33Like when they changed,
- 34:34I want to hold your hand into a
- 34:36ballad.
- 34:37Same about that little girl.
- 34:39That was fantastic.
- 34:41And then some of the other stuff.
- 34:44The little cues in there,
- 34:45because Maxwell's walking around,
- 34:46he's got a silver hammer in his hand
- 34:47at one point.
- 34:48Maxwell's silver hammer.
- 34:49It's fantastic.
- 34:52Chattanoofy,
- 34:52did you guys watch any of Pedro with
- 34:54Brute?
- 34:54I could not.
- 34:55I tried.
- 34:58The background music and the mics cutting
- 35:00in and out because of it was messing
- 35:03with me so bad.
- 35:04I did get the announce that
- 35:08the team that coaches Amy Kringle is
- 35:12moving over to brute.
- 35:15So half of blueprint is leaving blueprint
- 35:17to go to brute is kind of what
- 35:20I got from it.
- 35:22Um,
- 35:23you got more than I did when I
- 35:25figured out I couldn't say,
- 35:26I had the same thing.
- 35:27Like the audio was messed up with me.
- 35:28I was like, I'm not trying.
- 35:31Yeah.
- 35:32But then I, but yeah,
- 35:33I couldn't like when you get into
- 35:35podcasting and if you read about like what
- 35:37it,
- 35:38what it means to like have a good
- 35:39podcast,
- 35:41they tell you that audio is so much
- 35:43more important than video.
- 35:45People will sit through a blurry screen.
- 35:47If your audio is good,
- 35:49people will not sit through horrible audio
- 35:52with good video.
- 35:53No.
- 35:56Well, it's the same thing.
- 35:58You can sit there and look at somebody
- 35:59and they're just frozen,
- 35:59but that sounds still going.
- 36:02It's not that bad.
- 36:06Because at least you can still follow
- 36:07what's happening if you have sound.
- 36:09Not so much if you don't.
- 36:10As long as you have sound.
- 36:12You ain't got no sound.
- 36:14You don't have a show.
- 36:16And Enola Kai is coming with them, too.
- 36:19Thank you, Seema.
- 36:22And then Chetanufi.
- 36:23I did hear they have talked with Proven
- 36:25about doing an athlete camp thing,
- 36:27possibly.
- 36:29I'll believe that when I see it.
- 36:31Because...
- 36:34Getting to know Carolyn better, she is so,
- 36:38so protective of her scores,
- 36:41of where she's at in the season.
- 36:44She keeps all of that so close to
- 36:46the vest.
- 36:48She does not let any of that out.
- 36:50And I know that that is shared by
- 36:52many of the athletes in the space.
- 36:54And so if you're bringing in some of
- 36:55those heavy hitters from Proven and now
- 36:58Brute, I cannot imagine...
- 37:02Emma Lawson and Amy Kringle wanting to
- 37:04share where they're at with Kyra and
- 37:08Maddie Sturt and that group.
- 37:12I just can't.
- 37:13Now,
- 37:13I think men are much more inclined to
- 37:16share that.
- 37:18When you see Dallin and Jason and Colton
- 37:21competing head-to-head with Taylor,
- 37:24they were all willing to share that and
- 37:26let everybody know where they're at.
- 37:28I think it's much harder...
- 37:31to get women together to do the same
- 37:33thing.
- 37:35Not even close.
- 37:36If you've ever coached girls once in your
- 37:38life, you would understand.
- 37:40It's not the same.
- 37:42It's not the same.
- 37:43Not by far.
- 37:45Cause I've tried to put together like a,
- 37:48like an open throw down or something.
- 37:52And man, to get to now,
- 37:55Jamie would do it in a heartbeat.
- 37:56Jamie does not care.
- 37:58Jamie is willing to throw down a number.
- 37:59You try to match it.
- 38:01But, man,
- 38:02some of the other people I've talked to,
- 38:05and let's be honest,
- 38:07like Carolyn has placed in the open a
- 38:09couple times,
- 38:10and that's the one place you can earn
- 38:11money during the CrossFit season.
- 38:14Yeah.
- 38:15Until like now,
- 38:16like NorCal putting up some cash for their
- 38:19semifinal.
- 38:21What,
- 38:21twenty grand for the winner this year?
- 38:23I think that's what it said, yeah.
- 38:27Up until this season,
- 38:28or these last couple seasons,
- 38:29you couldn't make any money at semifinals.
- 38:31It was five grand.
- 38:33Which barely covers your trip.
- 38:35Right.
- 38:38Still to this day,
- 38:39the funniest thing that Jamie's ever told
- 38:40me was at MFC in twenty twenty three
- 38:43after she did the workout that I did
- 38:45previously that I won my heat in and
- 38:47she's laying on the floor about to die.
- 38:48She looks at me.
- 38:49She says, dude, I beat you.
- 38:50I started laughing.
- 38:51I was like,
- 38:57Yeah.
- 38:58I mean,
- 38:58you're a female and we're not even in
- 38:59the same age division and you're an elite
- 39:01and I'm an RX, but yeah,
- 39:02a hundred percent.
- 39:03You definitely, you definitely beat me.
- 39:04Yeah.
- 39:06Everything's a competition to that woman.
- 39:08I love it, dude.
- 39:10I love it.
- 39:11Absolutely.
- 39:13Oh, I swear to God,
- 39:14like we debate on the road and that's
- 39:18a competition.
- 39:19Oh, I bet.
- 39:23How about,
- 39:25Holly just jumped in for a quick hello.
- 39:27How about the graphics she put together on
- 39:29the CrossFit Games season?
- 39:31I've gotten no less than three messages
- 39:34from her after she invited me to
- 39:36collaborate and then said, I'm sorry,
- 39:40I had to change something.
- 39:42Holly, stop apologizing to me.
- 39:45And to Scott, for that matter,
- 39:47because I'm going to go ahead and speak
- 39:47for him because I know how he feels
- 39:48about that.
- 39:50You are putting stuff out that is
- 39:52absolutely phenomenal pieces of work.
- 39:54Please stop apologizing if you have to
- 39:55change something.
- 39:57It is the entire season for each division
- 40:00on one square Instagram post.
- 40:03It's amazing.
- 40:05And you just,
- 40:06you scroll through and it's every
- 40:08different division and you can see how it
- 40:10all works out.
- 40:12It's easy to read.
- 40:14It's easy to see.
- 40:15Right.
- 40:17It's not three font like some people like
- 40:19to use.
- 40:20Yeah.
- 40:24I'm sorry.
- 40:25I will stop apologizing.
- 40:28An apology for apologizing.
- 40:30A hundred percent.
- 40:35Her email newsletter is great too.
- 40:36I didn't even know she did an email
- 40:38newsletter.
- 40:38That is the first I've heard about it.
- 40:41What is this Holly?
- 40:44What are you keeping secret from us?
- 40:46For real?
- 40:47Is it only an email for SEMA?
- 40:49Is that it?
- 40:50SEMA's email newsletter?
- 40:51What the hell?
- 40:54She doesn't.
- 41:02Though I suppose I could.
- 41:05And now she'll apologize for not having
- 41:06one already.
- 41:07For not having an email newsletter.
- 41:08Yeah,
- 41:09I probably could put something like that
- 41:10together.
- 41:12Put it together and
- 41:13twenty minutes, like, uh,
- 41:14killer rewrote the entire friggin' WFPCs
- 41:17in an hour.
- 41:21Uh, secret SEMA group chat.
- 41:25There it is.
- 41:29My take is, like, yeah,
- 41:30whose emails you gonna get?
- 41:31You're gonna have to find it.
- 41:33Yeah,
- 41:34you're probably gonna have to find it,
- 41:35because according to Holly,
- 41:36she never sent it,
- 41:37so good luck with that.
- 41:41Telepathy runs deep with them.
- 41:43Apparently so.
- 41:44That's good shit right there.
- 41:50I don't give a damn what anybody says.
- 41:54That's fine.
- 41:54Because I've just been talking about them
- 41:56all week.
- 41:56Penn State is the biggest embarrassment in
- 41:58college football.
- 42:00They were the first to fire a coach.
- 42:03They're the only ones out there without a
- 42:07head coach going into signing day
- 42:09yesterday.
- 42:11We had National Signing Day, no coach.
- 42:14Apparently,
- 42:15according to a report on ESPN this
- 42:17morning, they have no plan in place.
- 42:19They have no idea where they're going.
- 42:20They actually have two separate search
- 42:22groups.
- 42:23One,
- 42:23the boosters are searching their
- 42:26candidate.
- 42:27The AD is doing his own separate search
- 42:30for his candidate.
- 42:32This is when we have way too much
- 42:33money in college football.
- 42:36When boosters have that much say...
- 42:39It was described that their search is like
- 42:42taking off in a plane and trying to
- 42:44assemble the landing gear while in midair.
- 42:48That seems difficult.
- 42:51Probably not something I would recommend.
- 42:53I don't even fly planes,
- 42:54but that's bananas, dude.
- 43:01Like, holy smokes, that's bananas.
- 43:04So you have a guy eight months ago
- 43:06who took you to the final four of
- 43:08college football to be a final four in
- 43:13a tight two-minute,
- 43:15last two minutes of a game against Notre
- 43:18Dame, could have won,
- 43:19lost by one bad play,
- 43:22and now they have no coach going forward.
- 43:26And the coach they had found a job
- 43:29at another place before you could find his
- 43:31replacement.
- 43:33Oh, somebody was fixing to hire him,
- 43:35a hundred percent.
- 43:37Oh, he went to Virginia Tech so fast.
- 43:42What's I'm saying?
- 43:42As soon as he got fired, I mean,
- 43:44that's what the, not outcry,
- 43:47but that's what everybody's saying.
- 43:48It's like, oh,
- 43:48he's going to get a job soon.
- 43:51And they had the number one recruiting
- 43:53class going into this season,
- 43:56this off season.
- 43:57Franklin leaves,
- 43:58poached the whole damn thing.
- 44:00And now Penn State's in the hundreds.
- 44:06We're behind Clintonville Tech.
- 44:14BRCC, Baton Rouge Community College.
- 44:16Yep.
- 44:20What a freak.
- 44:23Or the one right by my house is
- 44:24Community College.
- 44:25I could walk to from my house or
- 44:26PCC.
- 44:27River Parish is Community College.
- 44:30Can I go and have a better recruiting
- 44:33class?
- 44:35yeah all right guys well it's going to
- 44:41be a party in san jose i hope
- 44:42you guys come i hope we can do
- 44:44some meet and greets this year with some
