Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / ITB: 53-Man Roster Projection, Defense: Is There Room For A Developmental Prospect?
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back.
- 0:13Speaker 2: What's up, everybody, It's Jeff Mosher, It's Adam Kaplan.
- 0:16Speaker 1: This is part two of our two part fifty three
- 0:19Speaker 1: man roster projection series going on.
- 0:22Speaker 2: In part one, we.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Did offense, and Adam and I saw almost everything the
- 0:26Speaker 1: same way as we did our offensive roster projection. Now
- 0:30Speaker 1: we do defense, and we're already bound by certain rules
- 0:33Speaker 1: because you know, on offense, Adam, you kept twenty seven guys.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I kept twenty six guys, So technically I could probably
- 0:39Speaker 1: go one deeper at a certain spot on defense, and
- 0:42Speaker 1: you maybe two if I don't decide to roster a
- 0:44Speaker 1: long snapper, which the eules might not do for the
- 0:46Speaker 1: first three weeks and elevate. But so there's some strategic
- 0:50Speaker 1: you know, planning and plotting here. But we're what we're
- 0:53Speaker 1: really aiming to do, as we did in the first part,
- 0:55Speaker 1: is also just go through the names, the competitions, what
- 0:58Speaker 1: it's going to look like, and the very very difficult
- 1:01Speaker 1: decisions that will be ahead for the coaching staff in
- 1:04Speaker 1: the front office, especially on defense at them because.
- 1:06Speaker 2: There are it's a really good young defense for a
- 1:09Speaker 2: lot of bodies.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Man, I mean, there's some good undrafted free agents, Deontay Lawson,
- 1:14Speaker 3: who's very, very talent, undersized linebacker, chunch of weight, not length,
- 1:18Speaker 3: but weight, not that he's going to make up. But
- 1:21Speaker 3: Zion Wilson and who they signed recently out of East
- 1:24Speaker 3: Carolina's an intriguing player. And we'll get to the others.
- 1:28Speaker 3: But where I really struggled with this was was in
- 1:33Speaker 3: the secondary.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Edge a little bit. Do you keep a fifth? Yep,
- 1:38Speaker 3: that's the challenge, But the secondary was that that was
- 1:42Speaker 3: where I had a bunch of iterations of it. Mm hmm.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Then I said, you know what, you can't keep everybody.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Just make a decision, right.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Sure, all right, So why don't we Well, so you
- 1:57Speaker 1: said secondary is your toughest decision. Yep, I'm gonna say
- 2:00Speaker 1: I thought secondary, but I also thought linebacker for special
- 2:06Speaker 1: teams purposes like O line by edge, like you said,
- 2:10Speaker 1: there were some tough decisions in there, I think, and
- 2:13Speaker 1: we're operating, but I think both of us are operating
- 2:16Speaker 1: under the assumption Brandon Graham is not going to come back,
- 2:18Speaker 1: which when I tried to do this in a room
- 2:21Speaker 1: I had to do this a couple of months ago.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I thought it was definitive.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I just had a feeling he was gonna want to
- 2:25Speaker 1: come back, and that made it really difficult.
- 2:27Speaker 2: At least without him coming back, it makes it somewhat.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I mean, they could, they could call the bat signal
- 2:32Speaker 3: if they suffer, if they suffer a bunch of injuries
- 2:36Speaker 3: at edge, he's he's he's always available, you know, even
- 2:39Speaker 3: if he's close to retirement. I mean, if he would you,
- 2:41Speaker 3: I don't see him turning him down. But the bottom
- 2:45Speaker 3: line is they actually have very good depth at edge.
- 2:48Speaker 3: M hmm. One issue that you have, and this is
- 2:51Speaker 3: what makes it tough to do do it this early
- 2:53Speaker 3: mm hmmm, because you know that safety is a real quagmire.
- 2:56Speaker 3: It's it's a real problem, right, And you don't want
- 3:00Speaker 3: to just keep guys because they're because they don't have
- 3:02Speaker 3: enough players. Want them to earn it, obviously, Yeah, but
- 3:06Speaker 3: it's it's the way front offices go here. They they
- 3:08Speaker 3: want to keep the drafted players, but they also have
- 3:11Speaker 3: to if you're a six or seventh round pick, you
- 3:13Speaker 3: got to show something. You know, you're not guarantee anything.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Oh I agree, one hundred all right, uh So why
- 3:20Speaker 1: don't we start off in the defensive front? We'll go
- 3:22Speaker 1: to interior defensive line. How many DT's did you wind
- 3:25Speaker 1: up keeping before?
- 3:26Speaker 3: This was easy, this, I didn't even have to think
- 3:28Speaker 3: about it. Carter Davis Young mm hmm. And rob and
- 3:33Speaker 3: oh no, excuse me, Joe, I'm sorry, my bad, I'm sorry.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Five Carter Davis, Yeah, yeah, I forgot. Jomo is a
- 3:42Speaker 3: d tackle? Uh huh Carter Davis or Jomo it's five.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Carter Davis or Jomo Young? And Robinson?
- 3:48Speaker 2: That's fine, got it? And I did the same. And
- 3:54Speaker 2: the only one that might not would be Young if
- 3:57Speaker 2: they really want to Oh no, no, no, it would be Robinson.
- 4:00Speaker 2: That would happen.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah no, if something if if if Robinson, I'm not
- 4:06Speaker 3: see I I'm like a lot of scouts I talked
- 4:10Speaker 3: to before the draft last year. Everybody loved Ty Robinson.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Everyone did.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Sure.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And I know he's a rookie. He's a fourth round pick.
- 4:16Speaker 3: There's reason why he wasn't drafted higher. He hit some flaws,
- 4:20Speaker 3: a little bit, wrang in some areas I wanted to
- 4:22Speaker 3: see more. So he's not a guarantee he's gonna be
- 4:25Speaker 3: on it, But for now I've got five.
- 4:28Speaker 2: He was a fourth round pick.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah, fourth round practice.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not cutting you know that that?
- 4:34Speaker 3: What's that?
- 4:35Speaker 2: I can't they're not cutting him? Yeah, Fourth is a lot.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Fifth, yes, because they cut the quarterback in twenty eighteen.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Who you got it exactly? Who refused to sign a
- 4:48Speaker 3: practice for a contract. Doug Seed new Miff Peterson anyway.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but he was terrible, even Ty Robinson.
- 4:56Speaker 2: He didn't play much last year. But it's not like
- 4:58Speaker 2: we were like, oh man, this guy's terrible, or yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 2: I'm sure scrimmage.
- 5:02Speaker 3: He just.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so we both are keeping five defensive tackles,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and uh, do you think there's.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Any avenue for a buyer? Not a buy right now?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Gabe Dave, I guess Gave Davis.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Is gonna thank you, Davis, Gave Hale.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Is there anybody else do you think I can push
- 5:22Speaker 2: in that area?
- 5:23Speaker 3: See? Gabe Hale to me is again like like you said,
- 5:25Speaker 3: he's he's a guy you should easily get to the
- 5:28Speaker 3: practice squad. You gotta cut him. He's got to go
- 5:29Speaker 3: through waivers. He's not vested, right, I mean, well, I.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Guess all right, so we need to answer the Bernard question.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure.
- 5:37Speaker 3: He doesn't count against the roster they used to.
- 5:39Speaker 2: He'll be on it, but he won't be on again.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I won't kill he will not count against it.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Correct, So technically they'll keep one, two, three, six, but
- 5:49Speaker 1: it'll be really.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not counting him because he doesn't count.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Right, got it? Okay, Edges, what do you got on Edge?
- 5:55Speaker 3: I had to go thin here? How to go thin? Yeah, Gernard,
- 5:58Speaker 3: it's actually very easy. This is simple. Gernard Hunt Smith
- 6:02Speaker 3: and Ebihetti, Ebiqutty. The guarantee, decent amount of cash, don't
- 6:06Speaker 3: have the seventh round Keyshawn James Newby making it at Panesse.
- 6:10Speaker 3: This is where the practice squad. He's not subject to waivers.
- 6:13Speaker 3: He's a vested veteran. M hm. He definitely would be
- 6:16Speaker 3: up out every now and then. You could, you know,
- 6:18Speaker 3: you explain him where they're at. They don't have the
- 6:20Speaker 3: roster spot, but they won them. They won him with them.
- 6:22Speaker 3: This fall be great guy to have. Okay, but on
- 6:26Speaker 3: the practice squad. On the practice squad.
- 6:28Speaker 1: There was a real I guess buzz that that people
- 6:32Speaker 1: thought Pessa was definitely gonna make the team because of
- 6:34Speaker 1: who he was.
- 6:35Speaker 2: But no, I think they forgot that the Browns, you
- 6:38Speaker 2: know the Browns.
- 6:39Speaker 3: He originally he originally agreed to.
- 6:40Speaker 2: A deal with the Browns. He failed the physical.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And then he was out there for weeks upon weeks
- 6:45Speaker 1: before the Eagles waited until they knew Joe Tryon Shank
- 6:50Speaker 1: Schwenka was going to retire to bring him in. So
- 6:53Speaker 1: I think there is a little bit of a perception
- 6:54Speaker 1: of misperception publicly on the value right now of age.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I'm going to understand, like, you don't need to keep
- 7:00Speaker 3: five edge rushers. Vic only plays three, right, you're gonna
- 7:04Speaker 3: dress four, you only use he only uses three. Hm,
- 7:07Speaker 3: he doesn't see it like other teams do. That's okay.
- 7:09Speaker 3: He's done this, you know, going back to San Francisco.
- 7:11Speaker 3: That's just what he does. It's worked out well for him.
- 7:14Speaker 3: He can't blame him because he's great. M and that
- 7:16Speaker 3: Panessa to me is janavitchs pass rusher. But he's a
- 7:19Speaker 3: really good run defender. You could just work it out
- 7:22Speaker 3: with the agent. So again, that that's what I got.
- 7:24Speaker 3: What do you have?
- 7:25Speaker 1: I had the edges I had, I had four obviously,
- 7:30Speaker 1: Nolan Smith, Jeles Hunt, Grenard.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Emacketty I I just couldn't make it.
- 7:36Speaker 1: A good convincing argument enough, like what you're saying to
- 7:39Speaker 1: put Epanessa on it without really knowing what he's got
- 7:43Speaker 1: at this point and wanting to go heavier in a
- 7:47Speaker 1: little in.
- 7:48Speaker 2: A few other areas.
- 7:49Speaker 1: So, oh, I didn't think the rookie that they drafted
- 7:52Speaker 1: in the seventh round, James Newby, I'd give him a
- 7:55Speaker 1: better shot than maybe the guy they drafted last year
- 7:58Speaker 1: who didn't make it, Antoine hall Ryland, only because James
- 8:02Speaker 1: Newby what he's like four to three speed something crazy
- 8:05Speaker 1: like that, you know, which might come in handy on
- 8:07Speaker 1: special teams.
- 8:09Speaker 2: But that's my issue.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Is I don't have, like, I don't have a Patrick
- 8:12Speaker 1: Johnson here type player. And so I was sort of
- 8:16Speaker 1: tempted to try to maybe put James Newby or Ramirez
- 8:19Speaker 1: on the roster, but I just didn't do it.
- 8:20Speaker 3: No way, no way. Rameirouz makes it. That would be
- 8:23Speaker 3: one of the biggest surprise in the last ten years.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Ramirez made it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah again, that would only be like a like a
- 8:28Speaker 1: special team's role.
- 8:30Speaker 2: And I don't I just not.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I don't know. There's just no scenario. But look, there's
- 8:35Speaker 3: every once in a while something shots you go, well,
- 8:37Speaker 3: but when uh Sills, Sills the guard? Was he backup
- 8:41Speaker 3: guard tackle? Yes, when he made it like that came
- 8:44Speaker 3: out that that was like we didn't know that one.
- 8:46Speaker 3: That that I remember putting on Twitter now before hearing
- 8:48Speaker 3: that Sills is going to make it yep, I remember
- 8:51Speaker 3: talk of the guy. The person I spoke to seemed
- 8:54Speaker 3: to be a little surprised he was going to make it.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I leave it with that. But anyway, Yeah, so yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 3: we're so far, so good. We don't really see anything
- 9:03Speaker 3: that's for shadow.
- 9:05Speaker 2: There you go, all right, so let's go to inside linebacker.
- 9:10Speaker 3: All right, so I have again four okay, Bond, Campbell, Trotter,
- 9:15Speaker 3: and Manden Chance. Campbell really look good in ot as.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I understand it's only Otasanti Lawson. You you start to
- 9:25Speaker 3: you need to backups. He would be subject to waivers
- 9:29Speaker 3: if they cut him. Uh. That's he's a guy to watch.
- 9:32Speaker 3: He's coming off an a cl injury.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 9:35Speaker 3: He's just he's he's very talented. Uh, it's hard to
- 9:39Speaker 3: keep him. Again, he wouldn't play if if if he
- 9:42Speaker 3: made the roster, he'd be he would be an act
- 9:43Speaker 3: of everybody's health. He would never play, right, that that's
- 9:46Speaker 3: the thing that you struggle with. Okay.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I this is sort of like tight end for
- 9:52Speaker 1: or not o line for us in the last pod
- 9:55Speaker 1: where uh, you kept one extra you I cut hitting.
- 9:58Speaker 1: But I'm gonna keep Campbell for special teams because my
- 10:01Speaker 1: philosophy was I didn't keep that fifth edge that we
- 10:06Speaker 1: just talked about, like Patrick Robinson, who has always been
- 10:09Speaker 1: a special teamer, or who was the other guy from
- 10:12Speaker 1: Kansas that they had before or after Patt.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I can't remember Robinson, Tyron remember him?
- 10:18Speaker 3: Kyron Johnson?
- 10:19Speaker 2: Kyron Johnson and Patrick Johnson or Patrick I'm sorry Patrick Johnson.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Oh the lineback from Tulane.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yes, yes, Patrick, he was an edge Patrick Johnson, right,
- 10:30Speaker 1: and he was always on for special teams, right, I
- 10:33Speaker 1: have I apologiz I was saying Patrick Robinson earlier I
- 10:35Speaker 1: met Patrick.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I met Patrick Johnson.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yeah. Right.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So there's no Patrick Johnson, there's no Kiroon Johnson for
- 10:44Speaker 1: special teams. So we're not keeping that fifth edge. You
- 10:46Speaker 1: got to give that. You got to make up for
- 10:48Speaker 1: it somewhere. So I'm keeping the fifth ilbuh, and I'm
- 10:53Speaker 1: keeping Chance Campbell there.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Okay. By the way, on epinessa his contract one year.
- 10:58Speaker 3: They guaranteed half of it one point four guaranteed about
- 11:00Speaker 3: half of it, so that that could play into it.
- 11:03Speaker 3: We'll see it's a minimum deal, but they guaranteed a
- 11:06Speaker 3: little bit of cash. And then so you've got four edges, correct,
- 11:11Speaker 3: four edges.
- 11:12Speaker 2: So right now, I've.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Got fourteen players overall, and you have thirteen players because
- 11:18Speaker 1: I kept Campbell, Campbell, Chance, Chance Campbell.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Oh oh you did hold Did you really keep them?
- 11:26Speaker 2: I'm saying I'm keeping a fifth.
- 11:28Speaker 3: When you said Campbell, I thought you meant to joh
- 11:30Speaker 3: Hod Campbell.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Okay, no, no, no, no, I'm sorry.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Chance.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Of course, I'm keeping Jahadcampbell, there's no doubt about that.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I'm also keeping Chance Campbell as that sort.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Of extra special teamer that you used to get from
- 11:45Speaker 1: either Kyron Johnson or Patrick.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm keeping thirteen. So five DT's right, four edge
- 11:51Speaker 3: for ilbs.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Right, and I've got fourteen because I kept camp Campbell.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yep.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Wow.
- 11:57Speaker 1: We move into the secondary where there's a lot of discussions.
- 12:01Speaker 3: He's also not vested by the way, he'd be subject
- 12:03Speaker 3: to waivers if they cut him.
- 12:04Speaker 2: That would be a chance. Yep, yep, that's correct. All right,
- 12:09Speaker 2: So let's go to corners. Let's do corners and Nichols.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I could bind them. So I've got well,
- 12:20Speaker 3: let's just let's all right, corner. I've got Mitchell Woolen,
- 12:24Speaker 3: Jonathan Jones. This is where I said, this is where
- 12:28Speaker 3: I just just like this is crazy. I I I
- 12:31Speaker 3: had Jacquoryan Bennon on and off the roster. I don't
- 12:32Speaker 3: know how many times. But remember he Week one last
- 12:37Speaker 3: year Suffard torn pectorial muscle, so that hurt him in
- 12:40Speaker 3: addition to not understanding the defense obviously set him back.
- 12:44Speaker 3: It's get a full of season. I'm putting him on
- 12:46Speaker 3: the roster because Jonathan Jones turns thirty two, thirty thirty three,
- 12:50Speaker 3: excuse me, thirty three in September, okay, and mac McWilliams
- 12:54Speaker 3: did nothing. I have him on the roster. Ringo counts
- 12:58Speaker 3: against corner, but he's not a corner anymore. He's a
- 13:00Speaker 3: special team or it's like j T. Gray. He counts
- 13:02Speaker 3: against safety, but he's not a safety anymore. We'll get
- 13:05Speaker 3: to him later, but right now, I have six corners. Again,
- 13:08Speaker 3: it's only five where playable, right, Okay.
- 13:11Speaker 2: So give me your your six again.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Just to make sure I have them, correct, Yeah, Mitchell Wooln, Jones,
- 13:19Speaker 3: Bennett McWilliams, and Ringo.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Bennett McWilliams, Ringo. Okay, yep, all right, I like it.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I had.
- 13:31Speaker 1: One, two, three, four, five, six. I guess I had
- 13:34Speaker 1: six quarters six corners. I had Woolan, Mitchell, Michael Carter, Jones,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and Carter's a nickel.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I don't have him. He's not a corner. I mean
- 13:47Speaker 3: corners of Nichols. Right. Yeah, it's hard to do that
- 13:52Speaker 3: because I have it because of the safety position. Right,
- 13:55Speaker 3: I have been to safety first. Okay, I'm counting him
- 13:59Speaker 3: at safety.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Maybe we should just do secondary then, just like yeah, yeah,
- 14:03Speaker 1: let's just do secondary, make it easier.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Yep, all right, So we're just gonna do secondary. Give
- 14:07Speaker 2: me your ten.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Remember, Degene does not count as a corner anymore. He's
- 14:12Speaker 3: gonna be safety and nickel, but he's gonna be playing
- 14:14Speaker 3: a lot of safety according to Victor Fangio. So my
- 14:18Speaker 3: corners are Mitchell Woolen, Jonathan Jones, Ringo is four counts
- 14:24Speaker 3: as a corner, Bennett is five, and Mac McWilliams is six.
- 14:30Speaker 3: One thing I do want to say is I'm very
- 14:33Speaker 3: curious because they're short at safety, do they start practicing
- 14:36Speaker 3: Mac McWilliams at safety?
- 14:38Speaker 2: I know it.
- 14:38Speaker 3: And last lest your training camp was corner and nickel,
- 14:42Speaker 3: nickel being inside, corner outside. But why not safety? Why not?
- 14:47Speaker 3: But we'll see. Just keep it eye on that, gotcha, okay?
- 14:50Speaker 2: And so your four safeties? All right?
- 14:53Speaker 3: So the safeties I'm counting Degene as a safety. Here
- 14:57Speaker 3: will be Degene mccouba. Those are your your your star
- 15:00Speaker 3: is in base right, and then Michael Carter is three. Right.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Let's see, we've got and and apps and apps. So
- 15:09Speaker 3: it's macouba, it's de Gene, it's Epps, and it's Carter.
- 15:14Speaker 3: That's the four. Now, I could tell you that. I
- 15:17Speaker 3: could tell you. I talked about it very early in
- 15:19Speaker 3: the show. There might be a big, a major surprise.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I was trying to find a way to put on
- 15:26Speaker 3: Maximus Pulley out of Wafford, who's a very intriguing prospect,
- 15:30Speaker 3: well built, round five eleven, two hundred pounds. He also
- 15:35Speaker 3: played at Western Kentucky. Before that, I talked to someone
- 15:37Speaker 3: in scouting around the league, so I kind a little
- 15:39Speaker 3: intel on him. Yeah, well listen, listen, who is red
- 15:42Speaker 3: blanket ship twenty twenty two. No one ever heard of him.
- 15:46Speaker 3: We knew he was a five year starter okay at MTSU,
- 15:50Speaker 3: but it still didn't get him drafted. So there's an
- 15:54Speaker 3: opportunity here at safety. The Maximus Pulley could be that guy.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Don't be shocked.
- 15:57Speaker 2: He was a playmaker too in college.
- 15:59Speaker 3: If I'm not as had five picks, I think this
- 16:01Speaker 3: last year.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, all right, very interesting.
- 16:04Speaker 3: So no, J T.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Gray.
- 16:05Speaker 3: J T.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Gray does not make any y for you.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Yeah, so, J T. Gray because he's only going to
- 16:11Speaker 3: play in special teams. Like there are a bunch of
- 16:13Speaker 3: veterans we mentioned earlier with AJ Panessa. That's the practice squad.
- 16:18Speaker 3: This is the beauty of the practice squad. With the
- 16:20Speaker 3: rules changing, you you can just put veterans on there.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Now you only have sixteen spots. You don't want ten
- 16:27Speaker 3: veterans on there. You want some. You want developmental players
- 16:30Speaker 3: on there, but you want some veterans too.
- 16:32Speaker 2: And J T.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Gray again, he doesn't give you anything in safety. He
- 16:34Speaker 3: really doesn't played it anymore. As I've said before, he's
- 16:37Speaker 3: the Chris Maragos of this team, elite special teams player,
- 16:42Speaker 3: only played on defense in an emergency, and that's where J. T.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Gray is.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 16:50Speaker 1: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
- 16:53Speaker 1: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 16:57Speaker 1: the dispensary for sports, just minutes outside of Philly, with
- 17:02Speaker 1: plenty of free parking.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You'll be in and out.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Fast, no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care
- 17:07Speaker 1: about convenience. Camdn Apothecary is all about the guest experience.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Their staff makes sure you feel taken care of every
- 17:16Speaker 1: time you walk in. Plus, they carry only the best
- 17:19Speaker 1: quality cannabis at the fairest prices, So whether you're stocking
- 17:23Speaker 1: up for the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a
- 17:26Speaker 1: big win, you know you're getting the good stuff without overpaying.
- 17:31Speaker 1: They even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 17:35Speaker 1: service members, and healthcare pros. Cam din Apothecary top quality cannabis,
- 17:41Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 17:44Speaker 1: one and up.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Okay, so here's where you're leaving. I was trying to
- 17:47Speaker 2: figure out who we differed on. You didn't have cole
- 17:51Speaker 2: as Newski making the team.
- 17:53Speaker 3: No, I did not.
- 17:54Speaker 2: That's where it was. I was child because I'm going
- 17:55Speaker 2: through my list.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I have Wolan, I have Mitchell, I have Carter, I
- 17:59Speaker 1: have Jones, I have Ringo, Dejene, mccouba, McWilliams, EPs and
- 18:04Speaker 1: with new Ski.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Greg keeve Greg.
- 18:06Speaker 2: No, I did not keep it it, okay, okay, yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So that's really interesting. And then I did decide that
- 18:14Speaker 1: they I think you and I both decided in the
- 18:16Speaker 1: end that the Eagles would go with a long snapper
- 18:18Speaker 1: on the fifty three because numbers, if you add up
- 18:21Speaker 1: the offense and defense, still add up to fifty and
- 18:23Speaker 1: it sounds like yours do as well.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Mm hmm yeah, right, where do where.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Do we maybe go wrong? Like, because there's a lot
- 18:32Speaker 1: of good players here on defense. The ones that maybe
- 18:35Speaker 1: Epessa if he has a really healthy one.
- 18:37Speaker 3: The toughest ones were day Kwon Wright if he blows
- 18:42Speaker 3: it up. Now he's an undrafted free agent lot too,
- 18:46Speaker 3: because you now you have lot to want it. Totally
- 18:48Speaker 3: get that one. That's a good one. But the ones
- 18:49Speaker 3: that the ones to watch in train a camp, big
- 18:52Speaker 3: time watch or day Kwon Wright because he's a big
- 18:55Speaker 3: time athlete. He's got a lot of ability. Oh oh,
- 19:00Speaker 3: you know, I don't have him on there. My fault
- 19:02Speaker 3: for not mentioning him. Most people don't even know who
- 19:04Speaker 3: the guy is. But he's a journeyman guard, Michael Jordan.
- 19:07Speaker 3: There's a reason why he's here. He has to start
- 19:08Speaker 3: a games in the league a bunch. It's just he's
- 19:12Speaker 3: a fourth he's a fourth guard, but he's still having
- 19:15Speaker 3: a guard depth.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, that's good.
- 19:18Speaker 3: We think about it.
- 19:20Speaker 1: How often in our off season podcasts, right have we said,
- 19:25Speaker 1: this team needs to sign a veteran into your offensive
- 19:29Speaker 1: lineman who has played in the NFL, who is reliable,
- 19:32Speaker 1: no matter how much you like Drew Kendall, no matter
- 19:34Speaker 1: how much you might think of Michael Morris or Willie
- 19:37Speaker 1: lanm what. You just need a guy who's played, and
- 19:39Speaker 1: the Eagles go and sign that guy, and then you
- 19:42Speaker 1: and I don't put him on the fifty three, Which
- 19:45Speaker 1: is kind of funny because we talked about how much
- 19:47Speaker 1: you need it.
- 19:47Speaker 2: But we're also smart.
- 19:48Speaker 1: We know that you can probably get a guy like
- 19:51Speaker 1: that on your practice squad. If not that guy, somebody similar,
- 19:54Speaker 1: And we also know that there's so much competition this
- 19:57Speaker 1: summer between all those backup offen of Lineman that you know,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I don't just assume that Michael Jordan's gonna make the
- 20:04Speaker 1: team just because.
- 20:04Speaker 3: No, and again he's he's a guy. You know, this
- 20:08Speaker 3: is where relationships matter with Howie, with working with agents
- 20:11Speaker 3: saying look, here's where we're at. I promise you once
- 20:15Speaker 3: we got to this week, we're gonna we're gonna call
- 20:18Speaker 3: him up. We're gonna elevate you know, by the way,
- 20:21Speaker 3: Maximus Pulley Academic team all conference. That's important that they're smart.
- 20:27Speaker 3: You know, you notice they they've pointed this out a
- 20:30Speaker 3: lot over the years, how he's pointed it out. When
- 20:33Speaker 3: you know that that's how you hope, that's how you
- 20:35Speaker 3: get better characters, guys who are smart. Pully he did
- 20:38Speaker 3: finish at Wafford. Buddy played at Western Kentucky before that.
- 20:41Speaker 1: So yeah, so a couple of guys that you and
- 20:44Speaker 1: I both left off that we'll have to have just
- 20:48Speaker 1: some interest in for whatever reason or another.
- 20:49Speaker 2: You know, Covey's a punt returner, but you can put them.
- 20:53Speaker 3: But we both left off.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Willie Lampkin. They brought him in for a reason. He'll
- 20:56Speaker 2: get a lot of looks.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see what he could look that that's if
- 21:00Speaker 3: he lights it up, if he has a great camp. Yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 3: I mean, and that's that's where you you know, that's
- 21:08Speaker 3: the Maximus Pullay I have to say goodbye. I mean,
- 21:10Speaker 3: that's that's what happened, right.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Holland Pierce is a guy who's enormous. He's got a
- 21:15Speaker 2: long right ahead.
- 21:16Speaker 1: But I mean, you can understand if any offensive line
- 21:19Speaker 1: coach just fell in love with the measurables of Holland Pierce.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But we got to.
- 21:23Speaker 1: See what he does first under the new coach and
- 21:26Speaker 1: Stone smart the tight end, right.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I mean, they brought him in.
- 21:28Speaker 3: He's a project.
- 21:29Speaker 2: He's a project, sure, but you and I both left
- 21:32Speaker 2: him off.
- 21:32Speaker 1: But they certainly signed him for a reason, so someone
- 21:35Speaker 1: to watch in training camp. I'm trying to think if
- 21:39Speaker 1: there's anybody else on defense that we mentioned Deontay loss
- 21:42Speaker 1: in Campbell, Ambry Thomas.
- 21:46Speaker 2: I don't feel bad about leaving him off. Andre Sam.
- 21:49Speaker 1: The only thing with Andre Sam is, even though he's
- 21:51Speaker 1: played well, when he's been given the opportunity in practices
- 21:54Speaker 1: and things, and he'll be like that first guy to
- 21:56Speaker 1: get pushed up if there's an injury. He was an
- 21:58Speaker 1: older prospect when Eagles signed it, and now they've gotten
- 22:01Speaker 1: younger at the position. Yeah, so it makes you think
- 22:04Speaker 1: that the window was very small to begin with, and
- 22:07Speaker 1: now it's even smaller because of who they've added, like
- 22:09Speaker 1: the Coal Wiz news Skis and the Michael Carter's and
- 22:12Speaker 1: other guys who can play that spot.
- 22:14Speaker 3: It'll be fun. I mean, this is what it's great
- 22:17Speaker 3: about doing it now because we have the information from
- 22:19Speaker 3: the draft on a free agency and you know what
- 22:24Speaker 3: the roster looks like, so you know where there's an
- 22:26Speaker 3: opportunity for someone to make the roster because they have
- 22:28Speaker 3: a history of undrafted free agents making it and actually
- 22:32Speaker 3: contributed the reaction of stories like it doesn't get much
- 22:36Speaker 3: better than not obviously the linebacker from Wisconsin who Edwards, Yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 3: who signed with the Bears, who signed for big forre
- 22:44Speaker 3: agent money or good for eachantment. I would say big,
- 22:46Speaker 3: but good for agent money. So they have a history
- 22:48Speaker 3: of developing these guys and listen.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I like it because if you were to ask me
- 22:51Speaker 1: what my I think my biggest flaw in my fifty
- 22:54Speaker 1: three min off for production is I don't think I
- 22:55Speaker 1: had any of the udfa's making it. And like you said,
- 22:59Speaker 1: there's always someone who just shines above the others and
- 23:02Speaker 1: they figure out a way to keep them on fifty three.
- 23:05Speaker 1: So maybe by the next time we do is I'll
- 23:06Speaker 1: have to act somebody and going on. And you're right,
- 23:10Speaker 1: it's not just Pully, right, I mean, you got to
- 23:12Speaker 1: watch a tight end. He's dynamic, right, right, is electric
- 23:17Speaker 1: and lost and if he's healthy, had really good production
- 23:20Speaker 1: at Alabama before he got hurt.
- 23:22Speaker 3: The way it happens is, let's say he's lighting tae kwon, right,
- 23:26Speaker 3: is is lighting it up in training camp. You know,
- 23:29Speaker 3: the every NFL team they have what's called a news service.
- 23:33Speaker 3: They get the clips, you know, they get they see
- 23:37Speaker 3: what reporters are putting out there, whether it's on social
- 23:41Speaker 3: media or a line or newspapers, so they see it.
- 23:45Speaker 3: They know what reporters are seeing. They don't get access
- 23:47Speaker 3: to the practice state, but they know by reading up
- 23:49Speaker 3: on it right now. And also, if you add to that,
- 23:53Speaker 3: if he crushes it in training camp, that's where it
- 23:56Speaker 3: makes it really tough for how we to cut him.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we'll see, all.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Right, that was fun.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I really enjoy doing that with you. And that is
- 24:05Speaker 2: going to.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Finish off our Eagles fifty three roster protection.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Not too early, just early. It's June, and it's fun
- 24:13Speaker 2: to do all right.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I want to thank everybody who's been following and watching
