- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, what are boxing fans? This is the rope a
- 0:05Speaker 1: Dope Radio Podcast, the Real rope Adope Radio Podcast. It's
- 0:10Speaker 1: a Tuesday night and we're doing a show. I can't
- 0:13Speaker 1: believe it. I finally got it back to Tuesday nights. Anyway,
- 0:18Speaker 1: I hope everybody's having a good night. Hopefully you had
- 0:21Speaker 1: a good weekend, the holiday weekend and whatnot. We will
- 0:26Speaker 1: start with some light some light recap because it was
- 0:31Speaker 1: a light weekend. Caterall you bank not, you know, not
- 0:39Speaker 1: all that great obviously, and then you know a little
- 0:45Speaker 1: bit of a hundercard stuff too. That Caterall minus one
- 0:51Speaker 1: fifty two was it that hit? So that was nice.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I didn't touch anything else this weekend. I just made
- 1:01Speaker 1: that one bet and it went through. So coming off
- 1:06Speaker 1: a holiday week and a light weekend, we have a
- 1:09Speaker 1: jam packed weekend coming up Friday night on Netflix Katie Taylor,
- 1:15Speaker 1: Amanda Serrano, plus the undercard of course the Trilogy fight.
- 1:21Speaker 1: This one's really interesting because obviously the first two fights
- 1:26Speaker 1: were bangers, right, that's easy to tell. I had Serrano
- 1:31Speaker 1: winning at least one of those. Then I say, at
- 1:34Speaker 1: least I think it. I think you can make an
- 1:39Speaker 1: argument for two and zero, but I think it should
- 1:43Speaker 1: be one to one. I would be just fine, to
- 1:47Speaker 1: be honest with you, I just I don't know. I
- 1:49Speaker 1: didn't see Taylor winning both of them. But now Serrano
- 1:54Speaker 1: is the favorite going into it. You kind of wonder
- 1:59Speaker 1: if she's gonna get the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes
- 2:03Speaker 1: it could be one of those fights where now I
- 2:06Speaker 1: will score it for Taylor and then Serrana win. So
- 2:09Speaker 1: who knows. Either way, there have been great fights. I
- 2:13Speaker 1: just think it should be one and one, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 1: but either way Netflix, we'll talk a little bit about
- 2:19Speaker 1: the undercard too. But it's great man. You know. We
- 2:23Speaker 1: had the Tyson and Jake Paul fight. It is what
- 2:28Speaker 1: it is with that fight, right, I didn't expect that
- 2:30Speaker 1: would be a good fight and it sucked. But the
- 2:33Speaker 1: two fights before it were very good, this one being great,
- 2:38Speaker 1: you know, the second one we knew it was gonna
- 2:42Speaker 1: be great, just like the first one. But now it's
- 2:45Speaker 1: parlayed into being the main event on Netflix. So I'm
- 2:48Speaker 1: really excited about that. Then The Zone, Hey Dozone has
- 2:52Speaker 1: a pay per view this week? And did you know that?
- 2:54Speaker 1: No Berlanga, Shiraz Stevenson, Zepata, my guy the morele mattis PLAYO.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna break down that card.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I know that there is. I think if you coumble
- 3:12Speaker 1: this one with with the USIK one, I think it's
- 3:19Speaker 1: like forty three dollars or something like that, because I
- 3:23Speaker 1: think it's ninety six if you if you package it,
- 3:26Speaker 1: which forty three dollars pay per view is better than
- 3:30Speaker 1: sixty or seventy or whatever. But I still wish this
- 3:34Speaker 1: one coming up on Saturday night wasn't a pay per view.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I just think at some point you have to uh
- 3:44Speaker 1: not have every card a pay per view. And we'll
- 3:49Speaker 1: talk a little bit about the build up kind of
- 3:55Speaker 1: lack thereof, but whatever. It hasn't been bad or anything.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But the way does OWN promotes these fights, many of
- 4:03Speaker 1: these fights anyway, not every single event, but some of them.
- 4:08Speaker 1: In a fair amount of them, it's like they say
- 4:12Speaker 1: to zone to zone, to zone to zone, and then
- 4:14Speaker 1: you get to fight week and it's a pay per view.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Now I knew it was a pay per view because
- 4:21Speaker 1: I remember three out of four weeks they were gonna
- 4:23Speaker 1: have a pay per view, and I remember the deal
- 4:26Speaker 1: and everything like that. But there has been some that
- 4:29Speaker 1: I thought, hey, wait, I thought that wasn't gonna be
- 4:31Speaker 1: pay per view. So and I've also noticed how they
- 4:38Speaker 1: advertise other fights. But when you look at it, like
- 4:42Speaker 1: when you if you just look at the post itself,
- 4:45Speaker 1: it kind of looks like it's their fights, which is
- 4:48Speaker 1: week two. Hey it's a stack July. Make sure you
- 4:52Speaker 1: buy a ticket or buy the pay per view July too,
- 4:54Speaker 1: you know, it's it's I don't know, I'm not a
- 4:58Speaker 1: big fan of that. You can say it's a stack
- 5:01Speaker 1: July and say hey, this is this and that is that,
- 5:04Speaker 1: and that's great, but the way they kind of skew
- 5:07Speaker 1: the lines, so to speak. But it's the ring or
- 5:14Speaker 1: it's I mean, it wasn't even the ring on Twitter, right,
- 5:18Speaker 1: it was that one dude. So it's just it's just
- 5:22Speaker 1: kind of weak how they how they try to pawn
- 5:25Speaker 1: some ship off like it's like it's theirs, and then
- 5:30Speaker 1: kind of make it seem like you'll be watching fights
- 5:33Speaker 1: and they'll be like, oh, this week, you know, on
- 5:37Speaker 1: his own and then like I've had multiple people when
- 5:42Speaker 1: I've talked about the fight and then these are like hardcorees.
- 5:47Speaker 1: They're not like I'm friends with them on the boxing level,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and some of them just friends in general, but none
- 5:54Speaker 1: of them here locally, or I'm just there a friend
- 5:57Speaker 1: with him. I've been friends, you know, for a long time.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And then oh, by the way, we'll watch the fights
- 6:02Speaker 1: once in a while. Not those people. They're not contacting
- 6:05Speaker 1: me because they don't even barely even know what de
- 6:06Speaker 1: zone is. But I have noticed that a lot of
- 6:10Speaker 1: people thought this was gonna be a free card anyway.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong, like it's still a good card.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm not saying that. It's just at some point, you know,
- 6:20Speaker 1: maybe Netflix, you know, maybe this Canelo Crawford will be
- 6:25Speaker 1: a starting point for that. So we will preview and
- 6:28Speaker 1: predict all the fights going on this weekend. By the way,
- 6:32Speaker 1: pro Box even though the main event is a little
- 6:34Speaker 1: different now due to Lester Martinez dropping off. Unfortunately, pro
- 6:41Speaker 1: Box returns pro Box TV on Saturday. We had some
- 6:47Speaker 1: news about David Dennevitez in the card in November from
- 6:52Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia. Stack card. You know, I like the card,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but you know, we'll talk about it. We'll talk about
- 7:01Speaker 1: it because it kind of it's weird because we heard
- 7:04Speaker 1: about a Benevida's fight, and then all of a sudden,
- 7:08Speaker 1: a certain trilogy at the same weight class for lineal
- 7:12Speaker 1: is getting postponed. Hopefully, hopefully it's not off off, but yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 1: kind of funky, kind of funky, a little bit funky.
- 7:21Speaker 1: So we're gonna get into it. John is gonna pop
- 7:24Speaker 1: on here in just a short little bit. If this
- 7:28Speaker 1: is your first time listening to the Real Ropeodope Radio podcast, welcome.

- 8:22Speaker 1: eighty nine ninety nine for the first month. Okay, let's
- 8:28Speaker 1: jump into some of this, some of this recap. I'm
- 8:31Speaker 1: not gonna go crazy with the recap, but where we
- 8:36Speaker 1: are going to recap a little bit. So Jack Catterall
- 8:44Speaker 1: Harlem You Bank obviously a really real boring fighting right,
- 8:52Speaker 1: not going way out of the limb by saying that,
- 8:56Speaker 1: but you know, early on you Bank, he was just
- 9:02Speaker 1: jumpy as hell. Whether it was offense defense, he was
- 9:05Speaker 1: just jumpy. And it was almost like a faint, a
- 9:10Speaker 1: faint off, like a faint fest, like hey man, let's
- 9:13Speaker 1: let's I'm gonna faint the shit out of you dude,
- 9:16Speaker 1: because that's all he was doing. And he was high jabbing.
- 9:18Speaker 1: But it wasn't. It was like he was fainting with
- 9:21Speaker 1: the high jab It was really it was strange, right,
- 9:26Speaker 1: it was strange. I gave catall the first two rounds,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and obviously, like in the first round, between all the fainting,
- 9:35Speaker 1: it was like a left hand to the head and
- 9:38Speaker 1: that seemed like that was the best punch. I think
- 9:41Speaker 1: there was a late left hand that stole the round
- 9:44Speaker 1: for me. In round two. Not much happening though, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: continuing round three like upper body movement, foot movement from
- 9:56Speaker 1: from Harlem U Bank, but just fainting and just knock
- 10:00Speaker 1: admitting to his punches. It was really strange. It was
- 10:04Speaker 1: really really strange. I thought the fourth round could have
- 10:10Speaker 1: maybe went to U Bank. More of that, you know,
- 10:13Speaker 1: the high high jab, the high faint jab, and sometimes
- 10:18Speaker 1: it's badly missing. But you know, maybe a jab in
- 10:22Speaker 1: a left hand was good enough for Catterall to win
- 10:24Speaker 1: that round. I didn't have this fight tight tight, to
- 10:29Speaker 1: be honest with you, I did give you Bank. The
- 10:33Speaker 1: fifth I thought that he finally, you know, was like
- 10:39Speaker 1: landing a jab. He also landed a nice right hand
- 10:42Speaker 1: or two. But then the sixth round there was a
- 10:46Speaker 1: clash of heads and it was pretty late in the
- 10:50Speaker 1: round Catterall, both of them got cut. Catterall seemed worse.
- 10:56Speaker 1: It was weird, though, so they broke it up and
- 11:00Speaker 1: and Jack Catterall goes to his corner and his trainer
- 11:03Speaker 1: or someone in his corner starts wiping his eye off,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and then and then the ref said, oh no, no, no,
- 11:08Speaker 1: you know, he grabbed him away. But then the ref
- 11:11Speaker 1: had and and I don't know how hard he was
- 11:14Speaker 1: pressing on their neck. But I don't know, did you
- 11:17Speaker 1: notice this too. The dude the ref had both these
- 11:20Speaker 1: guys by their necks and he was almost like he
- 11:22Speaker 1: was putting pressure on the back of their neck. It's like, dude,
- 11:26Speaker 1: who the fuck are you? You're not this is in
- 11:28Speaker 1: like a neighborhood fight and you're the dad and you're
- 11:32Speaker 1: just grabbing the two apart. You know, it was really weird.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I was like, dude, why you press it? Like I
- 11:37Speaker 1: think Catererall kind of moved back a little bit, like, dude,
- 11:39Speaker 1: get your hand off my neck. Dude, I'm not sure
- 11:41Speaker 1: you're not my dad. You know you're not my father.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I didn't I didn't do anything wrong. Well, he actually
- 11:47Speaker 1: did do something wrong, but but that I just I
- 11:52Speaker 1: just I had that written in my nose. I thought
- 11:54Speaker 1: that was really weird. I thought that was really weird.
- 11:58Speaker 1: When they started fighting again, you Bank was kind of
- 12:01Speaker 1: wrestling even more with him, and he threw them down.
- 12:05Speaker 1: So so the round ends and then they they look
- 12:10Speaker 1: at the doctor or he, you know, Catererall looks at
- 12:13Speaker 1: the doctor looks like they may start it, and there's
- 12:16Speaker 1: a pause and pause and waiting and the rest talking
- 12:19Speaker 1: to like the scorekeeper or something, or the timekeeper, I
- 12:22Speaker 1: should say, and or someone, and he I guess he
- 12:26Speaker 1: was talking to a doctor. I don't know. It was weird,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and all of a sudden he got up. He said, no,
- 12:29Speaker 1: we're calling it off. And then you Bank acts like,
- 12:32Speaker 1: you know, like it's it's over, like it's he won,
- 12:39Speaker 1: and it's like, well wait, and then I'm looking I'm
- 12:41Speaker 1: like the head. They called it a clash of heads, right,
- 12:43Speaker 1: you know, so I'm thinking, wait, what what's going on?
- 12:48Speaker 1: So he's acting like he won, and I'm not saying
- 12:50Speaker 1: being confident that you won on the scorecards. His first
- 12:54Speaker 1: reacted reaction was that he just won straight up, so
- 12:59Speaker 1: obviously they went. So the scorecards. One scorecard had it
- 13:02Speaker 1: sixty nine sixty five, and then two had it sixty
- 13:05Speaker 1: nine sixty six. I had it like four to two.
- 13:11Speaker 1: That's how I had it. I guess you could say
- 13:13Speaker 1: three to two one maybe, but I had it four
- 13:16Speaker 1: to two tops. So the fight sucked, dude. I mean,
- 13:22Speaker 1: there's not much more to talk about it. You Bank
- 13:28Speaker 1: just needs to commit to what he's doing. I get
- 13:31Speaker 1: setting up shots, I get taking your time, I get
- 13:34Speaker 1: being patient. I get not overdoing it early in the fight,
- 13:38Speaker 1: but he just wasn't committing to his punches, and I
- 13:41Speaker 1: think all that movement's just burning energy, like it wasn't
- 13:46Speaker 1: effect that whatsoever. In Caterall, he wasn't doing much either.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm not trying to say he was, you know, throwing
- 13:54Speaker 1: all these punches or whatever. But I had him winning
- 13:57Speaker 1: in like a non descript outcome. So and then also
- 14:02Speaker 1: on the under card, the was it Fayes, Fayes and Murphy.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I thought Murphy started really well with the jab, and
- 14:10Speaker 1: it was kind of one of those one of those
- 14:13Speaker 1: fights that I could I could see both sides of it,
- 14:18Speaker 1: like who you think won? Because it's like what what
- 14:23Speaker 1: do you like in a fight? That old statement, what
- 14:25Speaker 1: do you like? Who do you you know? What? What
- 14:27Speaker 1: kind of work do you like it? And I would
- 14:29Speaker 1: have been okay with a draw too. I wouldn't have
- 14:32Speaker 1: been uh, you know against that. Fayes did win the fight,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but you know, it's close. It was like ninety seven,
- 14:43Speaker 1: ninety three, ninety six, ninety four, ninety six, ninety five.
- 14:47Speaker 1: But I thought early that Murphy did pretty good job,
- 14:50Speaker 1: like I said, with the jab, even early on later
- 14:56Speaker 1: in the first or second round. In those early rounds,
- 15:02Speaker 1: you know, some nice hooks, especially like I said, late
- 15:05Speaker 1: by Faez, and he kinda kind of had a decent guard,
- 15:11Speaker 1: almost like a high guard, but he definitely started getting
- 15:15Speaker 1: his his jab going and his short hooks on the
- 15:18Speaker 1: inside I thought were some of the best shots. Both
- 15:24Speaker 1: guys I thought targeted the body fairly well anyway, But
- 15:29Speaker 1: I thought as the fight went on, the short hooks
- 15:33Speaker 1: and uppercuts, I just thought those were the more effective
- 15:39Speaker 1: punches for Fayez. Whereas It's not to say that Murphy
- 15:45Speaker 1: wasn't doing some good work, but to me, he started
- 15:48Speaker 1: to slow down some and he started to get kind
- 15:51Speaker 1: of arm punchy for my liking. Anyway, I thought he
- 15:54Speaker 1: was a little arm punchy, to be honest with you.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So I had Fiaz winning, but I would have been
- 16:00Speaker 1: okay with a draw, you know. And it, like I said,
- 16:03Speaker 1: it is one of those fights. Every year there's fights
- 16:06Speaker 1: like that where you're like, how did you score? It
- 16:09Speaker 1: is based off what you saw, what you like. You
- 16:12Speaker 1: can make an argument for both sides, and I guess
- 16:15Speaker 1: you can say that in a lot of fights, but
- 16:18Speaker 1: especially this one. Sky Nicholson gotta win. Pat Brown gotta win,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Wilkinson upset Krola, not Anthony, but William Krola, Cordinia gotta win.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I think.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I think that's about it. Like I said, it wasn't
- 16:40Speaker 1: wasn't really some kind of great you know fight or
- 16:45Speaker 1: fight weeknd or whatever. But you know, if thot Catroll
- 16:49Speaker 1: he did okay. But even even he said, you know,
- 16:54Speaker 1: you could tell he didn't really do all that. He
- 16:56Speaker 1: didn't feel like he did that great. I guess you
- 16:59Speaker 1: could say, so you Bank. I just think Carlen you
- 17:06Speaker 1: bake needs to like, uh, not faint as much, which
- 17:11Speaker 1: you know that's pretty obvious when you watch a fight.
- 17:15Speaker 1: But it's just like commit to the punches. Like he
- 17:19Speaker 1: was throwing these like right hands, and and he he'd
- 17:24Speaker 1: like miss badly. You know. It was almost like he
- 17:27Speaker 1: was throwing but also like retweet retreating to get not
- 17:31Speaker 1: retweeting retreating to retreating to get out of the way.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It was, I don't know, it was. It was kind
- 17:37Speaker 1: of funky. And then he just kind of walk it
- 17:38Speaker 1: off like he would just he would just walk like, oh,
- 17:42Speaker 1: there's just a little bit leaving around. Okay, I'm just
- 17:43Speaker 1: gonna walk around. I'm just gonna keep walking around and
- 17:46Speaker 1: keep walking around. Its just it was hard to give
- 17:49Speaker 1: him around based off of how he fought. Like I said,
- 17:52Speaker 1: these high jabs were just to nobody. It was I've
- 17:58Speaker 1: just never seen that many faints with the highjack so
- 18:02Speaker 1: maybe it just looks goofy and it threw me off.
- 18:04Speaker 1: But Caterall, you know, I think he's a good fighter.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Neither of him have much power, you know, But we'll see,
- 18:14Speaker 1: we'll see. I mean, I don't really I think that
- 18:16Speaker 1: kind of showed the ceiling on Haarlem new Bank. I
- 18:21Speaker 1: kind of figured that going in. But Caterall, they get
- 18:24Speaker 1: the decision. Like I said, I did get that nice
- 18:26Speaker 1: little little bump there. So John should be popping in
- 18:33Speaker 1: here soon. I don't want to start the predictions and
- 18:35Speaker 1: all that without you know, catching up with him. Like
- 18:39Speaker 1: I said, I'm really excited about this Taylor Toronto fight.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The fact that it's on Netflix is really really dope.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Let's let's talk about Benavitez. You know, he gets this
- 18:57Speaker 1: fight done. It's a one fight, so one off, not
- 19:00Speaker 1: a three or four fight deal like a lot of
- 19:03Speaker 1: people sign with Turkey. Is the one off. We'll see
- 19:07Speaker 1: if it leads to something else Benevitez in in yard.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So I guess the money just wasn't enough. They were
- 19:21Speaker 1: they were close, but it wasn't enough to get Callium
- 19:25Speaker 1: Smith in the ring. That's what Eddie Hearn says, that
- 19:28Speaker 1: they just couldn't quite come to terms financially. And I
- 19:35Speaker 1: don't know if that was gonna be excuse me, a
- 19:38Speaker 1: fight here in the States, or if Sadi had something
- 19:43Speaker 1: to do with that fight too. That's what I'm kind
- 19:45Speaker 1: of thinking that they didn't, just because why would the
- 19:49Speaker 1: money be short, you know, And maybe he's just thinking, well,
- 19:54Speaker 1: I want to get a chance at the at the
- 19:56Speaker 1: lineal and not have to fight Benavidez. I'll get you know,
- 20:01Speaker 1: one of those you know, Beval or maybe that's true,
- 20:04Speaker 1: Beival is gonna fight, you know. I don't know, but
- 20:07Speaker 1: it just it is kind of crazy how Benavidez gets
- 20:09Speaker 1: a fight announced and then we hear you know, Bevil
- 20:15Speaker 1: and better be of now is pushed off postpone pushed off,
- 20:20Speaker 1: not gonna happen at least in twenty twenty five. So
- 20:25Speaker 1: it's just kind of like, well, so the trilogy was
- 20:28Speaker 1: gonna happen, Okay, cool, I get it better be of deserves,
- 20:33Speaker 1: you know, his trilogy, because you know he won the
- 20:38Speaker 1: first one and a lot of people even thought he
- 20:40Speaker 1: won the second one. But either way, it's one one
- 20:44Speaker 1: that's his first lost ever. Cool, that's cool. I understand
- 20:47Speaker 1: why that would happen before the Benevitas fight, but that's
- 20:51Speaker 1: what we're told. That's why the Benevite isn't theval in
- 20:55Speaker 1: Turkey even said, I'm not trying to make that fight
- 20:58Speaker 1: the Benevite's befal because of the trilogy. And that's cool.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I'm cool with that. I get it. But now that's
- 21:05Speaker 1: not happening. So what was the hold up? Or is
- 21:08Speaker 1: it going to be Bivilla and kelling Smith and they're gonna,
- 21:11Speaker 1: you know, take the back door there. I don't know.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It's just kind of okay, I see John in here,
- 21:16Speaker 1: let me grab him in here real quick. All right,
- 21:23Speaker 1: there we go? All right, what's going on? John? How
- 21:31Speaker 1: you doing?
- 21:31Speaker 2: Hey? Chris?
- 21:32Speaker 1: How are you good man? Really good? How was your
- 21:36Speaker 1: holiday weekend?
- 21:37Speaker 2: Real good, real good? Went down to the Charleston West
- 21:41Speaker 2: Virginia Regatta, which was a long, long tradition and was
- 21:46Speaker 2: on hiatus from two thousand and nine till twenty twenty two,
- 21:51Speaker 2: and they brought it back, and the comeback's been going
- 21:53Speaker 2: pretty well. Originally started in nineteen seventy one. At one time,
- 21:58Speaker 2: I think it was the biggest festival at least in
- 22:03Speaker 2: the outside of the Marty Gras or something and something
- 22:07Speaker 2: something along those lines I wrote when I first came
- 22:10Speaker 2: to West Virginia. But it went through a big fade, unfortunately,
- 22:13Speaker 2: and it was nice to see it back. So I
- 22:16Speaker 2: spent pretty much all four days over the weekend doing
- 22:20Speaker 2: that and that was a good time. How about yourself,
- 22:22Speaker 2: it's going good.
- 22:23Speaker 1: So you got that back, and you got the backyard
- 22:25Speaker 1: Brawl back here recently, Yeah, right.
- 22:31Speaker 2: That's right. Yeah, And things up in the Morgantown area
- 22:35Speaker 2: more which they call the North Central region around here
- 22:39Speaker 2: on the whole, that's going well. WVU has had a
- 22:42Speaker 2: few cutbacks, but all schools did, and that area is
- 22:46Speaker 2: growing and doing well. And you know, the Charleston, West
- 22:49Speaker 2: Virginia area more south needs to get some stuff going on.
- 22:53Speaker 2: That's why that's even a big, a bigger issue down
- 22:57Speaker 2: in this part of the state. But that that comeback's
- 23:01Speaker 2: gone well. But yeah, WU has got the return of Rodriguez. Yeah,
- 23:06Speaker 2: thirty if I'm looking forward to that, and got another
- 23:09Speaker 2: good event up there in Clarkspoort, Clarksburg, West Virginia, and
- 23:13Speaker 2: the Italian Fest which is the day before. Okay, that
- 23:17Speaker 2: makes a nice combo within forty miles or so. So
- 23:22Speaker 2: uh that that's that's a real uh, that's a real
- 23:24Speaker 2: good end of the end of something.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I think. Yeah, I had a pretty good fourth Uh.
- 23:29Speaker 1: My mom was in town, so I got to spend
- 23:32Speaker 1: a lot of time with her and family and other
- 23:34Speaker 1: cousins I haven't seen in a while. So yeah, the
- 23:36Speaker 1: weather is really nice. It's been nice and hot up here.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So it's been going good. We'll going really good. My
- 23:43Speaker 1: summer's going good. It is hard to believe though, and
- 23:46Speaker 1: you know in a couple of weeks that the NFL
- 23:48Speaker 1: training camp starts and then college football coming at the
- 23:52Speaker 1: end of August. So just trying to, you know, enjoy
- 23:57Speaker 1: summer for a handful of weeks, you know what I mean.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I agree with you. And when my dad was still alive,
- 24:03Speaker 2: we were talking about that how the rhythm had shifted
- 24:07Speaker 2: a little bit, just in the ways you said, baseball
- 24:11Speaker 2: maybe not quite being what it used to be. And
- 24:14Speaker 2: once you got into July and you knew those you
- 24:17Speaker 2: know before you know, by mid month of NFL training
- 24:22Speaker 2: camps were going to start opening up, and you know,
- 24:27Speaker 2: the NFL being so dominant in the sports world, it
- 24:30Speaker 2: kind of just like you said, exactly changed the rhythm
- 24:33Speaker 2: of things in college football starting earlier, things like that.
- 24:36Speaker 2: So I agree with your hundred percent matter of fact
- 24:40Speaker 2: in speaking of that Charleston Star Will Regatta. It does
- 24:43Speaker 2: tie into that theme a bit because in the original incarnation,
- 24:48Speaker 2: which went through two thousand and nine, like I said,
- 24:49Speaker 2: it was Labor Day weekend, and first year they brought
- 24:53Speaker 2: it back was to the July fourth. They were going
- 24:55Speaker 2: to go back to the traditional and then it was
- 24:57Speaker 2: kind of like the talk along the lines like you said,
- 25:01Speaker 2: you know, Labor Day weekends not really what it used
- 25:04Speaker 2: to be in terms of it's more of you know,
- 25:08Speaker 2: some some schools have started and uh, the families that
- 25:13Speaker 2: they still can, they're gonna they're gonna travel. You've always
- 25:15Speaker 2: had that type of thing, but it's just kind of
- 25:17Speaker 2: the rhythms different. So they decided to keep it on
- 25:19Speaker 2: fourth of July rather than go back to Labor Day
- 25:25Speaker 2: those types for those types of reasons, because they one
- 25:27Speaker 2: of the reasons with the decline was again tying with
- 25:31Speaker 2: what you mentioned. It got to where w v U
- 25:34Speaker 2: was always having a game Labor Day weekend.
- 25:39Speaker 1: To go.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and and you know, you you have more people
- 25:43Speaker 2: attending the game than live in the city of Charleston,
- 25:46Speaker 2: West Virginia. You know, they got people coming in for regatta.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I mean, it just kind of kind of tells you so,
- 25:53Speaker 2: uh that that was a huge factor.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Nice. Yeah, I'm It's one of those things where I
- 26:01Speaker 1: like to take it in stages, like I'm a huge
- 26:04Speaker 1: college football fan, but I don't give a shit about
- 26:06Speaker 1: it right this second. You know, that's smart, it speaks.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Then I'll start to really build it up. But yeah,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I just kind of like to shut off my brain
- 26:15Speaker 1: with that. I'll keep up with stuff here and there,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and you know, I kind of like to go. The
- 26:21Speaker 1: training camp is not that far out of the city
- 26:24Speaker 1: for the vikings and stuff like that, and they always
- 26:26Speaker 1: scrimmage other teams, so that's actually kind of fun to
- 26:29Speaker 1: go and watch it like a live scrimmage. They don't
- 26:33Speaker 1: normally tackle you to the ground, but you know, if
- 26:35Speaker 1: it's one on one receiver versus cornerback, they're trying to
- 26:38Speaker 1: win that battle, you know what I mean when it's
- 26:40Speaker 1: a different team. So that's always kind of fun. I'll
- 26:43Speaker 1: probably do that during the day or whatever. But so
- 26:47Speaker 1: you know, over the weekend, pretty late weekend, obviously you
- 26:51Speaker 1: just had the I call it the faint fest. Cattrell
- 26:55Speaker 1: and you Bank Junior just I've never seen so many
- 26:59Speaker 1: hijabs in my life. Like you they were both fainting,
- 27:03Speaker 1: but you Bank was just he just had so much
- 27:08Speaker 1: wasteful movement. But it was a horrible fight. Just wasn't
- 27:13Speaker 1: good at all. There's not much to talk about. But
- 27:15Speaker 1: you know, we haven't had you on a little bit.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Is that before we get into Friday and Saturday with
- 27:20Speaker 1: you know, half some interesting matchups. It's a really interesting matchups.
- 27:25Speaker 1: It's nice to see Netflix it back into it too.
- 27:27Speaker 1: We get it, you know, in July, and then we
- 27:29Speaker 1: get it, you know, speaking of Sember get on really quick. Yeah,
- 27:33Speaker 1: it's really huge. But any other items, not necessarily just
- 27:37Speaker 1: from this weekend, but just in the last couple of
- 27:39Speaker 1: weeks that you haven't been able to that you just
- 27:41Speaker 1: got maybe an opinion on or something like that or
- 27:44Speaker 1: anything that uh, you know comes to mind.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I did make a note because you gave me
- 27:49Speaker 2: the perfect segue too. My general feeling is and yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 2: we haven't got together for a little bit, but but
- 27:57Speaker 2: unfortunately it's we have stuff. But it's also partially you know,
- 28:02Speaker 2: I feel like the sport overalls in a bad spot.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Nothing's really been going on. I mean, when you look
- 28:09Speaker 2: at the amount of fights you have to watch to
- 28:12Speaker 2: even hope to get a good like to you know,
- 28:14Speaker 2: be fortunate to get a good fight, it's it's just
- 28:17Speaker 2: getting to be too much. Like we talk about the
- 28:19Speaker 2: time investment. So in all this time, I can say,
- 28:24Speaker 2: sadly but unexpectedly hasn't been much of note. I mean really,
- 28:30Speaker 2: and this shows you. I mean, this is like the
- 28:33Speaker 2: biggest note. I mean, I think everybody kind of concurred to, like,
- 28:36Speaker 2: I mean, show Field just blowing away Farmer. Yeah, Ko
- 28:40Speaker 2: was impressive, but you know, Farmer, even though could have
- 28:43Speaker 2: gone either way, he did get he still did not
- 28:48Speaker 2: beat Zapeida and he's at an advanced age. But the
- 28:51Speaker 2: thing we can say that I have to agree with
- 28:53Speaker 2: the consensus. Nobody did that to him, and no, and
- 28:57Speaker 2: he gave everybody a tough fight with his difficult style.
- 29:02Speaker 2: You know, he doesn't have any pop, but his style
- 29:04Speaker 2: always difficult, gave everybody a difficult fight. Up to that point,
- 29:08Speaker 2: you know, nothing like that really had happened to him before,
- 29:11Speaker 2: and the way Gofield did it was impressive looking so
- 29:17Speaker 2: in a time where just very little was going on
- 29:19Speaker 2: and you're looking for anything to stand out. I think
- 29:23Speaker 2: most of us in the sport following the sport closely
- 29:27Speaker 2: commentating agree that stood out. And then I'm going to
- 29:30Speaker 2: go way back because we didn't get a chance to
- 29:32Speaker 2: talk about it. We talked since, but we didn't get
- 29:34Speaker 2: a talk kids to talk about that one. And I
- 29:36Speaker 2: think now it's kind it's important because of what's coming
- 29:40Speaker 2: up in a couple of weeks. You know, you had
- 29:42Speaker 2: you had Zoo blowaway Spencer. You know, I, unlike most
- 29:47Speaker 2: really at that point, you know, I'd still, you know,
- 29:51Speaker 2: thought there was something there with Spencer. I thought, you know,
- 29:56Speaker 2: his father training him, wasn't you know, wasn't the answer?
- 30:01Speaker 2: From what I saw, they made noise going into that
- 30:04Speaker 2: fight like it was. He was working with these other
- 30:06Speaker 2: people and then there was his dad in his corner,
- 30:08Speaker 2: and the effort, the effort was dreadful. I mean, that's
- 30:11Speaker 2: what I'm saying like it was just Look, I never
- 30:14Speaker 2: criticized anybody if they decide to retire and they don't
- 30:16Speaker 2: want to fight, the sport's too dangerous. So if Joey
- 30:21Speaker 2: Spencer decides to hang it up and his dad they
- 30:23Speaker 2: decided to hang it up, fine, and they got a payday.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I don't like it as fans what I saw, but
- 30:27Speaker 2: I mean that that was a dreadful effort. So rather
- 30:30Speaker 2: than digressing too far back, though, why does that tie in?
- 30:34Speaker 2: I was a bit surprised. I mean, Zoo now is
- 30:37Speaker 2: a favorite over Fundor in the rematch coming up in
- 30:41Speaker 2: a couple of weeks on the Pacchio Barrios undercard, and
- 30:46Speaker 2: you know, he got blown away by Marsaliev before that.
- 30:51Speaker 2: It just just totally got annihilated a guy who hadn't
- 30:56Speaker 2: really fought anybody and who had been laid off a lot.
- 31:00Speaker 2: So you know, maybe he'll turn out to be more
- 31:03Speaker 2: than we thought, but we certainly didn't think that going
- 31:06Speaker 2: into that fight, and so we're now taking it as
- 31:09Speaker 2: you know, Zoo blows away a totally disinterested looking Spencer
- 31:15Speaker 2: in Australia and now he's a favorite over Fondora. Know,
- 31:19Speaker 2: the first fight. You know, tight he had the you know,
- 31:22Speaker 2: the horrible cut. But I'm like, man, I think we
- 31:27Speaker 2: have to look at you know, that's that Part's not
- 31:30Speaker 2: Zoo's fault. But you know what, Spencer just didn't offer
- 31:33Speaker 2: anything that night. So it's not like it was Zoo
- 31:39Speaker 2: Fundora one, then the Spencer's Spencer Zoo and then we're
- 31:44Speaker 2: going to Zoo Fundora two. It was you know, Fundora
- 31:51Speaker 2: and Spencer and then in between excuse me, Fundora and
- 31:56Speaker 2: Zoo and then yeah, then you know, Zoo getting blown
- 32:00Speaker 2: way and then you know, getting the easy went over Spencer.
- 32:04Speaker 2: So it doesn't mean Zoo couldn't can't win, but that
- 32:08Speaker 2: jumped out. I mean, that's just coming up in a
- 32:10Speaker 2: couple of weeks. But my main take is nothing going on.
- 32:16Speaker 2: You know, we have top rank reach. In the end,
- 32:20Speaker 2: there was like a YouTube, you know, card where they
- 32:23Speaker 2: had Neil Necky headlining. Didn't you know, good opportunity for
- 32:27Speaker 2: him in Jersey solid crowd. He's marketable there, like how
- 32:32Speaker 2: he's looked with shields. But you know, it really wasn't
- 32:35Speaker 2: that good of a performance. The guy was in with
- 32:38Speaker 2: the guy he was in with, not a big effort,
- 32:41Speaker 2: really wasn't engaging. Polish fighter was undefeated but hadn't thought
- 32:47Speaker 2: anybody at all, you know, in that kind of a
- 32:52Speaker 2: stage for him personally in Jersey where he's from headlining.
- 33:00Speaker 2: That was that. Then they had the heavyweight all the
- 33:03Speaker 2: fights didn't you know that one could have been that
- 33:05Speaker 2: the fights just weren't didn't play the fights, a lot
- 33:09Speaker 2: of them didn't play out. And then you had the
- 33:11Speaker 2: the middleweight fight on the undercard where Truck Simpson got decisions.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Yah, didn't look it didn't look good.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Now, so you had that fight which had some potential.
- 33:28Speaker 2: That card just didn't that.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 33:31Speaker 2: You like having the Jersey theme and local theme New
- 33:36Speaker 2: York area card. You know, you got a lot of
- 33:38Speaker 2: Polish Polish Americans in the.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Area posted that right article about it.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Right that you see, there were local articles. You know,
- 33:48Speaker 2: that's so rare nowadays. That's why you know, of course
- 33:52Speaker 2: Jersey bias being from there and spending you know, half
- 33:55Speaker 2: my time there, but you know, and you see that
- 34:00Speaker 2: much even there anymore. Seeing that reminded you some days
- 34:03Speaker 2: boxing use anything to get like that. But then you know,
- 34:06Speaker 2: like that, going in for a smaller card, but card
- 34:09Speaker 2: just didn't really live up to what I think they
- 34:12Speaker 2: hoped they were going to get out of it. But really,
- 34:16Speaker 2: you know, and that's even relatively speaking to most people's interests,
- 34:19Speaker 2: not a big card, but you know, people people we
- 34:24Speaker 2: you know, we know on there, but just it didn't
- 34:27Speaker 2: work out that good. But that really the general theme.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Really non eff Javes Junior too, which shouldn't be a
- 34:35Speaker 1: big surprise.
- 34:36Speaker 2: That's right. You know, Jake Paul when he fights, it
- 34:38Speaker 2: gets a lot of publicity. You know, it's hard to
- 34:43Speaker 2: categorize him at this point because post some of that
- 34:45Speaker 2: and you get some pushback, which there are some truth
- 34:47Speaker 2: to that. You know, we're not seeing Paul's pay per
- 34:50Speaker 2: view numbers at this point either, true. You know, we're saying,
- 34:54Speaker 2: you know, he's a bigger which we do kind of
- 34:56Speaker 2: know that he is a bigger attraction than most boxers.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Most he's also reached a point where his numbers aren't
- 35:04Speaker 2: being widely credibly reported anymore either, so you know, these
- 35:10Speaker 2: probably aren't doing all.
- 35:11Speaker 1: That great yet, especially killing off that viewership he had,
- 35:15Speaker 1: you know, right Netflix, I mean.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Right, which you know you want to build on that.
- 35:20Speaker 2: But then on the other side, of the On the
- 35:21Speaker 2: other side of the coin, there's really no doubt he's drawing.
- 35:26Speaker 2: You know, he's a better draw than almost all boxers
- 35:29Speaker 2: out there now. So you know, it's still the question remains,
- 35:35Speaker 2: where does really the ultimate cash out? And I still
- 35:39Speaker 2: think for boxing sake, I'm in the camp that I've
- 35:41Speaker 2: said it, say it again. Boxing does do better if
- 35:45Speaker 2: this guy gets a cash out in my view, in
- 35:47Speaker 2: a big fight, I mean, if he gets blown away
- 35:49Speaker 2: in two rounds, then hey, everybody wants to see him lose.
- 35:52Speaker 2: All the boxing people, they're actually even they're gonna even
- 35:56Speaker 2: at snickering, they're going to be satisfied. And all the
- 35:59Speaker 2: people that really foolishly believe Paul could like, they're gonna
- 36:04Speaker 2: be watching it. So you know, to me, it's if
- 36:08Speaker 2: Usak gets by Dubois, you know, you put him in
- 36:10Speaker 2: with Usik and say this guy is getting a crack
- 36:12Speaker 2: at the heavyweight cham. I know some people hate it.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Usik has called for it now, not when he's focused
- 36:19Speaker 2: the last couple of weeks, but before that, so he's
- 36:22Speaker 2: saying in himself.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Or it's gonna be more than one fight from him
- 36:26Speaker 1: to no right, you know, Or.
- 36:29Speaker 2: If Canelo you know, if Canelo gets by Crawford, the
- 36:32Speaker 2: odds much closer than I think all of us expected.
- 36:35Speaker 2: But if he gets by, you know, that's a perfect
- 36:37Speaker 2: cash out for both of them, you know, you know,
- 36:42Speaker 2: so something big to get the use out of Paul
- 36:45Speaker 2: before he goes down. You know, you'll get snickers if
- 36:49Speaker 2: he goes down against somebody, a lesser opponent. But that's
- 36:52Speaker 2: not going to do anything for you know, that's not
- 36:54Speaker 2: going to do anything for boxing, Like while he's here,
- 36:58Speaker 2: I want boxing to get something out of it, so
- 37:00Speaker 2: you know, not that.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Look what boxing got out of McGregor trying to cross over.
- 37:05Speaker 2: You know, I think, you know, I think that's underrated.
- 37:10Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it's the highest selling pay per view,
- 37:14Speaker 2: you know, because it was a pro fight boxing. You know,
- 37:18Speaker 2: Mayweather pack Mayweather's in both of them. But I thought
- 37:22Speaker 2: that was good to keep boxing.
- 37:23Speaker 1: My press conference that had millions of views in that
- 37:27Speaker 1: press conference over the time. I mean, that was that
- 37:30Speaker 1: was one of the craziest even though I thought a
- 37:32Speaker 1: lot of it was stupid. It did its job, that's
- 37:34Speaker 1: for sure.
- 37:36Speaker 2: And I remember, which you just don't see this kind
- 37:38Speaker 2: of thing anymore. The morning of the fight, I decided
- 37:44Speaker 2: I was going to get a new TV for it.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I hadn't gotten one for a while, and I said,
- 37:47Speaker 2: why not. I was in there getting it, and I
- 37:52Speaker 2: remember the specifically there was a bunch of like army
- 37:56Speaker 2: guys who were off duty and you know, they were
- 37:59Speaker 2: at the wall are and they were just talking about it,
- 38:02Speaker 2: and you know, I'm like, man, you know, this just
- 38:05Speaker 2: never never happens. Really, you know, it happened to Meweather
- 38:08Speaker 2: pakiaw but like outside of that, which at that point
- 38:11Speaker 2: hadn't been long ago against a couple of years exactly,
- 38:13Speaker 2: it's just not happening. You know, nobody's talking about So
- 38:16Speaker 2: this is good. You know, I was on that one.
- 38:18Speaker 2: I'm like, hey, you know, and I still think it
- 38:21Speaker 2: was a good thing because you know, PBC did their
- 38:24Speaker 2: thing right after that, or you know, really right had
- 38:27Speaker 2: started it. That was right, real I credit you know,
- 38:32Speaker 2: you know, people knock PBC and but you know, I'm
- 38:35Speaker 2: looking at the last ten years now, twenty fifteen to
- 38:38Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. I think right now the sports and batrazy,
- 38:41Speaker 2: but it really is Jesus. But it's the opposite of
- 38:45Speaker 2: the haters say. If PBC to me didn't do what
- 38:48Speaker 2: they did in like twenty fifteen.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, the sport, the sport would be Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 2: That's my point.
- 38:56Speaker 1: That's a good point like that.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I started thinking about it like that recently, and
- 39:01Speaker 2: I think there's a lot to it like that. If
- 39:03Speaker 2: they wouldn't have done that, where then everybody kind of followed.
- 39:07Speaker 2: It pushed everybody even though they got resistance, and I
- 39:11Speaker 2: think it kind of got them off the game that
- 39:12Speaker 2: they originally wanted to play, and that hurt in the end.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Where we'd be now if they hadn't done that, Yeah,
- 39:23Speaker 2: it'd be it'd be ten, ten, twenty times worse than
- 39:25Speaker 2: it is now, and it's not good.
- 39:27Speaker 1: That's very true. Yeah, because imagine that because just sparking
- 39:31Speaker 1: all the interest in a variety of time buys, you know,
- 39:36Speaker 1: did something. But also it sparked ESPN's interest, and then
- 39:40Speaker 1: top Rink came in and you know so and all
- 39:42Speaker 1: those executives said that exact thing, like huh. It really
- 39:45Speaker 1: got me thinking like okay, I could, we could, we
- 39:48Speaker 1: could do this deal. And obviously ESPN Plus came along
- 39:52Speaker 1: and that helped top Rank too, because we know that
- 39:54Speaker 1: they have you know, a catalog and.
- 39:57Speaker 2: When the zone and when the zone got in, and
- 39:59Speaker 2: they were using really Al Hayman's rationale. Yeah, Hayman was
- 40:05Speaker 2: kind of looking at boxing like an undervalued property, and
- 40:10Speaker 2: that's where he got the investors involved, like, look, it's
- 40:12Speaker 2: not united like a UFC, but if we looked at
- 40:15Speaker 2: it that way, it might be an undervalued property that
- 40:18Speaker 2: was straight out that the zones. The zones rationale was
- 40:22Speaker 2: that and then trying to get something big like us
- 40:25Speaker 2: NFL rights springboard.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the thing that they were gonna do.
- 40:30Speaker 2: But but they were looking at the undervalued property thing
- 40:32Speaker 2: as well as the springboard didn't work out for them,
- 40:35Speaker 2: but and then top rank felt to you know, survival,
- 40:39Speaker 2: they had to follow along. Got the ESPN deal definitely
- 40:41Speaker 2: wouldn't happened otherwise.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because they were putting on pay per views that
- 40:47Speaker 1: really shouldn't have been pay per view there for a second,
- 40:49Speaker 1: because they didn't have the HBO thing. There was I
- 40:52Speaker 1: remember uh A Veldez and what is his name? It
- 40:57Speaker 1: was a good fight, but it had no business being
- 40:59Speaker 1: on em pay per view. A great fight though, actually
- 41:04Speaker 1: like a fun action fight. But yeah, you're right, they
- 41:06Speaker 1: were kind of stuck because, you know, that's when Bob
- 41:09Speaker 1: was in bad terms of HBO, because you know, it's
- 41:11Speaker 1: good and bad and good and bad. And remember it
- 41:14Speaker 1: took them over to showtime for a couple and then
- 41:16Speaker 1: went back and because that's just what Bob does. But yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 1: that's a good point, I mean it it It put
- 41:21Speaker 1: a lot of investment in the sport. That's her damn sure,
- 41:24Speaker 1: you know exactly.
- 41:25Speaker 2: And then one thing the other thing there actually is
- 41:27Speaker 2: one other night in worth noting, worth noting, and over
- 41:30Speaker 2: the last few weeks posted you know which mix you'd say, like,
- 41:36Speaker 2: you know, we see we see things the rings putting
- 41:39Speaker 2: out there that are just simply pro promoing cards and
- 41:42Speaker 2: what Turkey al Sheikh's doing. I get that, I get
- 41:46Speaker 2: how ridiculous that is when you see it, but especially
- 41:50Speaker 2: with the you know, with the Foreman theme, and since
- 41:52Speaker 2: the print was gone and he did bring it back.
- 41:54Speaker 2: So I was in Jersey, this was like the week
- 41:58Speaker 2: before fourth of July. I just saw to buy the
- 42:00Speaker 2: special form and print edition. Okay, there were some writers
- 42:05Speaker 2: in there, a couple that you know, I'd like, I
- 42:06Speaker 2: wouldn't have put them in there, but there was some
- 42:10Speaker 2: good writing in there. You know. The rankings back in there.
- 42:15Speaker 2: It wasn't it wasn't all bad. I mean, that's that's
- 42:17Speaker 2: what I'm say. Like there were I kind of almost
- 42:21Speaker 2: wasn't expected. I mean I was expecting it, you know
- 42:23Speaker 2: with the Foreman pictures and stuff, but like, yeah, there,
- 42:28Speaker 2: And I think anybody would agree if you looked inside it,
- 42:31Speaker 2: like you know, at some some of the articles and
- 42:34Speaker 2: some of the stuff, like like there was some legit
- 42:37Speaker 2: stuff you would want back right in there. And you know,
- 42:41Speaker 2: I've always took the position, which is consistent for me
- 42:43Speaker 2: since you know, Oscar first bought it. You know, Golden
- 42:48Speaker 2: Boy was it's better to have it alive than just data.
- 42:52Speaker 2: And you know, the print was dead, so you know,
- 42:55Speaker 2: I'm not saying like prints the dominant medium or something,
- 42:59Speaker 2: but with Boxing's history and everything, it was nice. The
- 43:03Speaker 2: Foreman Special Edition was nice to pick up in print.
- 43:06Speaker 2: There was a few well written articles in there by
- 43:10Speaker 2: some good writers that I was pleasantly surprised. And the ratings,
- 43:14Speaker 2: I always think that's good. Happened that in area transnational
- 43:17Speaker 2: ring if it stays independent the you know, the ratings
- 43:21Speaker 2: because you know, you can't you can't rely on the
- 43:23Speaker 2: alphabet stuff right in terms of any kind of credibility.
- 43:27Speaker 2: So there were some good things in there, but you know,
- 43:29Speaker 2: there there was probably some people they had right in there,
- 43:32Speaker 2: and I'm like, I probably wouldn't have pulled probably wouldn't
- 43:35Speaker 2: have pulled them back, wouldn't have pulled them back in, so,
- 43:39Speaker 2: you know, but not.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Some of the followings. So I do I do see
- 43:44Speaker 1: on the print thing though, you know, because a lot
- 43:46Speaker 1: of people I didn't notice a lot of people were
- 43:47Speaker 1: excited when they were talking about that, you know, in
- 43:50Speaker 1: order it and all that. So I agree, it's it's
- 43:53Speaker 1: better here than not hear if it's on like that.
- 43:58Speaker 1: I have more of an issue not with actual ring
- 44:01Speaker 1: the you know, the issues and all that, but like
- 44:07Speaker 1: just like the post on the Twitter stuff.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Right, they're bad. I agree with you.
- 44:11Speaker 1: It's getting really ridiculous.
- 44:13Speaker 2: You know, they're ridiculous. They are. And that's like I
- 44:16Speaker 2: don't yeah, I don't know why they're I kind of
- 44:17Speaker 2: don't know why they're using it that way.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I just I was talking about this before you hopped on,
- 44:23Speaker 1: and and they it's one thing to show credit to
- 44:27Speaker 1: fights that you like it. Like they'll say, hey, July
- 44:30Speaker 1: is on fire, right, and then they'll they'll put a
- 44:34Speaker 1: bunch of fights, and that's fine, Like if you want
- 44:36Speaker 1: to do that and just say, hey, everybody's got some
- 44:39Speaker 1: good fights, cool, you know. But then they started putting
- 44:42Speaker 1: it in pictures and putting dates on it. But it
- 44:46Speaker 1: just makes it it's all red, right, and it all
- 44:50Speaker 1: looks like it's ring stuff, right, so you're like, and
- 44:54Speaker 1: then they're not saying it's pay per view, and then
- 44:57Speaker 1: in that post they're saying, hey, this we can buy it.
- 45:01Speaker 1: It's like those aren't your like half of those aren't
- 45:04Speaker 1: your fights, you know. I just it's such a shitty
- 45:07Speaker 1: way to market. I think that I I think, you know, yeah,
- 45:12Speaker 1: it looks like it is.
- 45:14Speaker 2: They think that they're helping themselves with the ring name
- 45:17Speaker 2: for credibility, but they're doing the opposite, like they're just
- 45:20Speaker 2: cheaping the ring name. Like do your own promo and
- 45:23Speaker 2: then just keep the ring name solid and you can
- 45:27Speaker 2: use it for some things. Like we're saying, like the
- 45:29Speaker 2: logical thing would be get rid of the alphabets. I mean,
- 45:32Speaker 2: if you're if I'm you know, if I'm Turkey Alaschic
- 45:35Speaker 2: and I'm doing it and I'm out in Saudi Arabia,
- 45:38Speaker 2: that's what I'm going to do. I mean, so you.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Can't even be blamed for the ringings because it's already
- 45:44Speaker 1: set up, you know.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Right right, and and the fighters are not. They always say, oh,
- 45:48Speaker 2: the fighters want the alphabet belts until Turkey ala chics
- 45:51Speaker 2: breaking out the check book. Somebody don't care about their
- 45:55Speaker 2: WBC belt, No problem, right, they're going to drop that
- 46:01Speaker 2: for the ring belt, no problem. I mean that's right
- 46:03Speaker 2: in front of his face. You know, I don't that's
- 46:06Speaker 2: a head scratcher to me, like that. I would use
- 46:09Speaker 2: that for that, and then you know, have their sailor
- 46:12Speaker 2: or whatever their promotion is, you can just put that
- 46:14Speaker 2: for like the cornball the ridiculous infomercial ads we're talking about,
- 46:19Speaker 2: put that on them, use that branding.
- 46:22Speaker 1: On that, you know, and right, yeah, yeah, I.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Mean that's that's just what I would do. Like, so,
- 46:27Speaker 2: what I'm saying is like they really haven't gotten enough
- 46:29Speaker 2: right on that. But if you look in the magazine
- 46:34Speaker 2: itself print edition, they do have some of it, right,
- 46:38Speaker 2: and I'm thinking that they might not, Like I'm like, well,
- 46:41Speaker 2: they're they're getting some of it right. But it's just
- 46:44Speaker 2: what you said, like the other half where they're using
- 46:46Speaker 2: the name for these crazy promos and stuff.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're in they're like ripping Jake Paul's the
- 46:53Speaker 1: ticket stuff sell tickets at this next event that they
- 46:57Speaker 1: got coming up, Like that's not real And if it
- 47:01Speaker 1: is reporting, then you should be reporting on how bad
- 47:03Speaker 1: that sales are going then.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Right if they would have done that seriously, but they don't,
- 47:08Speaker 2: so I agree. Like when when they got called out
- 47:12Speaker 2: on that, I agreed because they weren't saying it about
- 47:14Speaker 2: anybody else's stuff.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Her own stuff, just personally with Paul.
- 47:18Speaker 2: They just took a shot at Jake Paul, I mean.
- 47:21Speaker 1: And then there's plenty of things to take a shot
- 47:24Speaker 1: at him for it, but that one isn't you know,
- 47:26Speaker 1: because the hell you got on your roster, you didn't
- 47:29Speaker 1: build anybody up.
- 47:30Speaker 2: You know, you could just say the fights, this fight
- 47:33Speaker 2: Chavez was terrible and nobody's gonna like, yeah.
- 47:37Speaker 1: That's a good point. There's plenty of stuff just to
- 47:39Speaker 1: rip the actual fight.
- 47:40Speaker 2: You know again that that would be better to do
- 47:43Speaker 2: it that way. Just have your regular if you got
- 47:45Speaker 2: credible boxing writers, have them ripped the fight.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Have them do it, yeah, exactly, have them like professionally
- 47:52Speaker 1: rip it, right, we didn't talk about, and you know,
- 47:56Speaker 1: for good notion, because it was he looked out of
- 48:00Speaker 1: shape and didn't look good. But gerbot gerboat Gilberto Ramirez.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I don't know why I had problems saying that. I
- 48:09Speaker 1: thought he it seems like every fight he looks worse
- 48:12Speaker 1: shape wise. This one, strategically, you could tell he was
- 48:17Speaker 1: kind of saving his gas and then he did pick
- 48:19Speaker 1: it up. And I heard people calling for that against
- 48:23Speaker 1: Jake Paul, Gilberto against Jake Paul, and as like, although,
- 48:27Speaker 1: you know, okay, sure I think he beats him, but
- 48:30Speaker 1: that's the fight I don't think Jake Paul would take
- 48:33Speaker 1: because it's not big enough name to get right, you.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Know, right, it's not a big enough name to take
- 48:39Speaker 2: the loss. I mean, people are gonna have to be
- 48:41Speaker 2: realistic there. They're overviued in the alphabet belt stuff. I mean,
- 48:46Speaker 2: if Jake, you know, really, if Jake Paul makes to
- 48:49Speaker 2: me a career strategic mistake and does that, that's on him.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I think that would be foolish. Like in other words,
- 48:55Speaker 2: if he somehow gets talking into it and thinks I
- 48:58Speaker 2: got to try to pick up an alphabet cruiser bell
- 49:00Speaker 2: that's my cash out. I think that's a bad cash.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Out, Yeah, because you're gonna look like shit doing.
- 49:05Speaker 2: It, right. They look like you're gonna look like garbage
- 49:07Speaker 2: anyway and lose and nobody's really gonna care.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be Tommy Fury Part two right exactly.
- 49:15Speaker 2: So I don't I don't see, but Ramirez, you know
- 49:18Speaker 2: that that was like, look, you know, some people fight
- 49:22Speaker 2: effectively at the older age, but I was thinking about
- 49:24Speaker 2: that with with some of the fights around that time, Like, look,
- 49:27Speaker 2: you know, Dordicos is thirty nine years old. You're really
- 49:32Speaker 2: you really shouldn't be using these older fighters, right unless
- 49:37Speaker 2: they have you have to. I mean, you know, he
- 49:39Speaker 2: wasn't even a legit top ten guy at that point
- 49:43Speaker 2: formally was, but wasn't going into this. So like those
- 49:46Speaker 2: those fights even being made are kind of like misfires
- 49:50Speaker 2: to me. I mean like we're just wasting time. We
- 49:52Speaker 2: are wasting time. I mean, these are not you know,
- 49:56Speaker 2: they're not as likely to be good fights. I mean,
- 49:58Speaker 2: you got a thirty nine year old guy in there. Really,
- 50:01Speaker 2: time wasters is kind of what I call him. And
- 50:04Speaker 2: I like Dordicos, you know, when he had more, Yeah.
- 50:07Speaker 1: But he still was laying at a jab hard. I'll
- 50:09Speaker 1: give him that. That's about it. But yeah, Ramirez, like
- 50:14Speaker 1: I said, he just every fight he gets a little
- 50:17Speaker 1: bit more. He just this body doesn't look like he
- 50:22Speaker 1: had a good training camp. Or maybe it's not the
- 50:26Speaker 1: training camp, it's before the training camp, you know. However
- 50:29Speaker 1: it is, his body looks like shit. He just doesn't
- 50:32Speaker 1: look good.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm not even saying maybe in this
- 50:35Speaker 2: one Turkey Ala, she didn't try to do it. But
- 50:37Speaker 2: that's one like, especially with the cruiserweight, even though you
- 50:40Speaker 2: need it in the modern era, I can see that
- 50:44Speaker 2: it's just still not a historical division. Really, people generally
- 50:49Speaker 2: don't It doesn't generate a ton of interest. So like,
- 50:53Speaker 2: you know, you gotta just if I'm like Turkey Ash
- 50:56Speaker 2: because he is the one pulling all the strings now
- 50:58Speaker 2: pretty much. Yeah, at least for the moment. Uh yeah,
- 51:02Speaker 2: you just just get get the Ramirez. You know Opataia
- 51:05Speaker 2: thing made, you know, I know they talked about it
- 51:08Speaker 2: a few times and then they want other directions, but
- 51:10Speaker 2: just look, he's got the money again to pull the strings. Now.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Just say hey, guys, like look, you know, if you're
- 51:16Speaker 2: not going to get it on, I'm going in a
- 51:18Speaker 2: different you know, I'm going in a different direction period.
- 51:21Speaker 2: You know, I'm not going to use you. Yeah, he's
- 51:23Speaker 2: got that kind of power at this point. It's not
- 51:25Speaker 2: doesn't mean it's gonna last forever, but that's where we
- 51:28Speaker 2: are right now. So let's you know, just make that
- 51:32Speaker 2: I mean, you know, boxing again. As we said, it's
- 51:35Speaker 2: overall in bad shape. I mean, there's just really not
- 51:38Speaker 2: time to be wasted at this point.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and it is. It's frustrating in the sense because
- 51:45Speaker 1: like like this upcoming Saturday, there's good fights on the card, right,
- 51:50Speaker 1: It's just it always goes back to but who in
- 51:52Speaker 1: the hell is going to be watching them? Yeah, you know,
- 51:56Speaker 1: this is the perfect card not to be pay per view,
- 51:59Speaker 1: this one this weekend exactly. And so it actually a writer,
- 52:06Speaker 1: someone that you know has at least does it for
- 52:09Speaker 1: a part time job, didn't even realize that it wasn't
- 52:15Speaker 1: pay per view. Abe on Twitter and a couple other
- 52:19Speaker 1: people were like, oh it is. I thought I thought it.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Because the thing is they with the way they promote it.
- 52:25Speaker 1: It just says to Zone. So for a month it'll
- 52:28Speaker 1: say Zone dizone owned to Zone, and then they'll be
- 52:32Speaker 1: like by the way it's pay per view and you're like,
- 52:34Speaker 1: wait a second, you know, and I know they're giving
- 52:37Speaker 1: you a deal. You know, if you if you buy
- 52:39Speaker 1: both of them, you can combo it and it's only
- 52:43Speaker 1: forty three dollars or something like that each instead of
- 52:46Speaker 1: sixty or whatever. But it's it's not the point of
- 52:50Speaker 1: the money. It could be thirty or it could be eighty.
- 52:53Speaker 1: It's just you know, it goes back to the exposure.
- 52:58Speaker 1: You know. It's it's just or at least have it
- 53:00Speaker 1: available in a variety, Like I don't even know if
- 53:02Speaker 1: this one's available on normal cable or Amazon or whatever.
- 53:06Speaker 1: You know, Like I don't know. It's frustrating because it
- 53:09Speaker 1: is a good card and there's interesting fights. I think
- 53:11Speaker 1: the main event is very closely matched. I think you
- 53:14Speaker 1: can make an argument for both guys. David Roe coming
- 53:17Speaker 1: off his first loss. He's in there with a guy
- 53:20Speaker 1: who can fight a little bit. We're gonna find out
- 53:22Speaker 1: about the guy, you know, So I don't know, on
- 53:25Speaker 1: one hand, he's spending all his money, but you know,
- 53:29Speaker 1: like we've always said, and a lot of people push back,
- 53:32Speaker 1: and that's great for us hardcorees. And we we're watching
- 53:35Speaker 1: the fights. It's not that we're not watching them, but
- 53:38Speaker 1: you know we're all alone. We're going to be in
- 53:40Speaker 1: an echo chamber before you know it, you.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Know, exactly correct, And I checked just before we went
- 53:46Speaker 2: on the zone. I did do just a little checking
- 53:49Speaker 2: to be right up to date. Before the zone. You
- 53:55Speaker 2: go to the app. They want fifty for this you
- 53:59Speaker 2: know this cards even interesting card like we're saying, but
- 54:02Speaker 2: not worth fifty nine to ninety.
- 54:04Speaker 1: And do they show the double thing? They not exactly either,
- 54:09Speaker 1: and they didn't before either on the back to back days.
- 54:12Speaker 1: So there's no you gotta go and then it'll stay
- 54:16Speaker 1: link in the bio. Was this only fans or is that?
- 54:20Speaker 1: What do you mean? Like you just put the damn
- 54:22Speaker 1: link in the you know you're paying bots anyway to
- 54:27Speaker 1: spread your stuff regardless, it's that frustrates me that they
- 54:31Speaker 1: offer a deal that's not right on your fingertip.
- 54:35Speaker 2: It's not even easy to get on and like, so
- 54:37Speaker 2: I also then earlier I'm interested, always interested, but felt
- 54:41Speaker 2: like I wanted to be the most current looking at
- 54:46Speaker 2: where where is Netflix like as of today? So I
- 54:49Speaker 2: also checked that out, went right on, so you've got
- 54:53Speaker 2: like Netflix, Yes, a basic plan with ads, you could
- 54:56Speaker 2: be on there for seven ninety nine and then really,
- 55:00Speaker 2: which is a good deal, like six different devices twenty
- 55:04Speaker 2: four to ninety nine is their max no ads, six
- 55:08Speaker 2: different devices. You know, all the stuff, you get, all
- 55:11Speaker 2: the movies you got to up, more NFL coming on
- 55:14Speaker 2: this year, and then you know, we've got Taylor Serrano three,
- 55:18Speaker 2: which we're going to talk about of course, we got
- 55:20Speaker 2: that Friday, and then we got the Canelo Crawford in September. Now, also, Chris,
- 55:24Speaker 2: because you and I are both interested in this, we
- 55:26Speaker 2: talk about it a lot. This is big news for
- 55:28Speaker 2: people who follow this like us. This was about three
- 55:31Speaker 2: weeks ago, three to four weeks ago. It's just by
- 55:35Speaker 2: a little bit, but it is the first time in
- 55:37Speaker 2: history streaming has now passed a broadcast by it just
- 55:42Speaker 2: a bit, okay, yeah, some point. It's been a ways
- 55:47Speaker 2: where I saw that wasn't gonna happen. But let's say
- 55:49Speaker 2: four or five years ago, and I'd said it, and
- 55:52Speaker 2: even the industry was saying it a bit. I thought,
- 55:54Speaker 2: you know, maybe so many streamers were coming up, was
- 55:57Speaker 2: there a chance that maybe cable was going to put
- 56:00Speaker 2: themselves in a value position, maybe revive themselves a little,
- 56:05Speaker 2: but that's not happening. That's done. So then like you
- 56:09Speaker 2: and I have talking, we're right on it and this
- 56:12Speaker 2: still holds true. So you know you've got your your
- 56:15Speaker 2: big two in the stream world are you know, really
- 56:21Speaker 2: are now Netflix and they have a large gap too, right,
- 56:25Speaker 2: so you know, but those deals are you know, you
- 56:29Speaker 2: look at that, see I try to then look at
- 56:31Speaker 2: that as like a consumer, like you know, of any age,
- 56:33Speaker 2: and you're and I'm thinking like, okay, yeah, the Netflix.
- 56:37Speaker 2: You know, you're you're not really feeling a lot of
- 56:38Speaker 2: pain for that. I mean, you've got options. So it
- 56:42Speaker 2: ties into exactly what we're talking about. You know, not
- 56:46Speaker 2: only is like this this ring three card Saturday, not
- 56:51Speaker 2: on a broadcast situation where it's not on pay per view.
- 56:55Speaker 2: It's not like like we're moving now at least with
- 56:58Speaker 2: two cards and Jake Paul did it where you know,
- 57:00Speaker 2: you got this Netflix option where people are going to
- 57:03Speaker 2: see it, right, and it's worth signing up for if
- 57:07Speaker 2: you if you're not signed up, I mean, hey, you know,
- 57:10Speaker 2: I get all this other stuff. It's twenty four get
- 57:13Speaker 2: the ads, the ad package, and you can pause it
- 57:17Speaker 2: if you have a credit card. You can pause it
- 57:19Speaker 2: for like three months.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Oh right, yeah yeah yeah, so like like but again
- 57:23Speaker 1: this matter.
- 57:23Speaker 2: Is like so if if I want to see uh
- 57:27Speaker 2: you know, Taylor Serrano and uh you know Canelo Crawford,
- 57:30Speaker 2: and then I can Paul, you know, I could Paul
- 57:33Speaker 2: what they do? Yeah, see what else they do? So
- 57:37Speaker 2: you know and PBC. Yeah they got an Amazon, but
- 57:40Speaker 2: let's face it, you know it was kind of a
- 57:41Speaker 2: bait and switch everything they almost everything they've run in
- 57:45Speaker 2: pay per view. If they would have just been on Amazon,
- 57:48Speaker 2: they would have also gotten that benefit. They had a
- 57:50Speaker 2: couple of cards, but that's it.
- 57:53Speaker 1: So they haven't put a dent in it with the
- 57:56Speaker 1: free stuff just yet, right.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Right, And even Espinosa said, you know, they're saying like
- 58:01Speaker 2: they're they're going to do it, but they just feel
- 58:03Speaker 2: like they got to get money from the pay per view.
- 58:05Speaker 2: But you know, like you might keep saying, you know,
- 58:07Speaker 2: this audience is just every time you blow an exposure
- 58:11Speaker 2: opportunity with a pay per view that should be a
- 58:15Speaker 2: different platform. You know, you lose fans. You know, you
- 58:18Speaker 2: lose fans. You lose fans, you lose fans. You know,
- 58:20Speaker 2: you're not building, So there's really is no build up.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and so it's it's been that way since it
- 58:28Speaker 1: well not since it jump, because the zone at one
- 58:31Speaker 1: point in time was very low, but it jumped really quick,
- 58:35Speaker 1: and it jumped really quick with less free or subscriber
- 58:41Speaker 1: you know product. And we would never say that these cards,
- 58:46Speaker 1: some of them have been very stacked. We've given plenty
- 58:50Speaker 1: of credit. And even this one, if this was a
- 58:52Speaker 1: like Showtime back in the day, would do those quadruple headers,
- 58:55Speaker 1: you know, good for that quadruple header, you know, praising
- 58:59Speaker 1: it up and down.
- 59:00Speaker 2: You know, That's what I was thinking. That's exactly what
- 59:02Speaker 2: I was thinking.
- 59:03Speaker 1: Because it is good. Like I'm very into these fights,
- 59:06Speaker 1: you know. But either way, let's start Friday night with
- 59:10Speaker 1: the trilogy. And speaking of John, I went into Netflix
- 59:14Speaker 1: last night just to see and he put it on.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Go on there, boom, right there, Taylor Serrano, just right
- 59:21Speaker 1: off the bat.
- 59:22Speaker 2: That's what we need, I mean, that is what we reminder.
- 59:25Speaker 2: You know, I'm excited. I've been you know, discouraged with
- 59:31Speaker 2: the sport where it's at, but like I'm excited we
- 59:33Speaker 2: got stuff coming up, but like it's for the stuff,
- 59:36Speaker 2: it's for what we got coming up. And then what
- 59:37Speaker 2: you and I are talking about, like at least with
- 59:40Speaker 2: what we got Friday Night with Netflix with Taylor Surroano three,
- 59:43Speaker 2: and then what we got with Canelo Crawford in September
- 59:46Speaker 2: on Netflix. These to me are the glimmers of hope. Yes, yeah,
- 59:51Speaker 2: these are the glimmers of hope.
- 59:53Speaker 1: Big time, big time. And so yeah, they're doing their
- 59:57Speaker 1: job when it comes to that. And I will say this,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: say what you about you want about Jake Paul, but
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: he as a promoter, he's done a lot more than
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: you'd expect in a short amount of time, you know
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: what I mean. Yeah, if ten years he's still gonna
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: be promoting, I have no clue. But he's doing a
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: pretty damn good job. To parlay this one after you
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: lost the Canelo fight on Netflix, then to parlay this
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: that's pretty damn good.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: You know, He's done pretty well as a promoter.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Yeah, And he's you know, put on a like smaller
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: cards that some of them are pretty good. And so
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: I thought he I thought he's done a good job there. Now,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: the under card in this one, there's not a lot
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: of you know, there's not much fifty to fifty obviously,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: right sided Yeah, it's more of a yeah, showcase type,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: you know then and then they're gonna match some of
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: these up, you know, on the next card or whatever.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: But Taylor Serrano Part three, it deserves to be a
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: main event. And but I am glad, excuse me, I
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: am glad they put it out a cold feature because
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: it probably wouldn't have happened on Netflix if they hadn't
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: had it on the cod feature, right, you know.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Now this is the lesson of this is what should
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: have been happening. That's the idea we're talking about. You
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: get fighters who put on a good fight in an
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: exposure position, and you parlay it to something else. Like
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: you said, credit to Jake Paul. This is this is
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: the idea we keep saying you have to get to.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: PBC was doing it in their early years, trying, but
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: it couldn't quite stay with the original plan long enough.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: That's always kind of been my feeling, just with conditions.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: You know, they were trying to not go with the
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: alphabets too for a year, which was the right move
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: in my opinion, but then like this, you got this
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: is what we wanted to see, Like you know, the
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Tyson Paul thing didn't work out good except for getting exposure.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: But then you got this great fight in this rema
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: between Taylor and Serrano, and then Jake Paul doing the
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: right thing. You're getting it parlaid into a Netflix main
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: event where people are interested even dare I say, because
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: we never have it any more casual viewers.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Yes, yep, and women and men, not just men. So
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: you know Taylor has got the benefit of the doubt
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: in both fights. You know, I'd be okay if it
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: was one one. I think you can make an argument
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: it should be too oh the opposite way, But I
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: would be okay if it was one one. I do
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: think Serrano won one of those fights, but you know,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: it is what it is. They were really good fights.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: She keeps getting. She got another one, which was a
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: nice payday, and now she's got another one, so in
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: the end it's still good for But here we are
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: in the trilogy after as far as you know. When
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I go up look on box Wreck, it says Taylor
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: won both of them and now she's the favorite in
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: the third fight. What are your thoughts here, because one
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: thing I will say, Taylor the way she has closed,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: especially the first fight, but just the way she's closed
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: some of these fights. It's almost like the last part
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: of the fight is in the judge's minds. Obviously it's
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: scored round by round, but I will say Taylor did
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: make it. I think Serrano maybe left the door open
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: a little bit in some of this to not win cleanly.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Not to say she would have won, but what are
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: your thoughts heading into this and then beyond it probably
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: stylistically being another great fight. You know, I don't see
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: how it wouldn't be at least very good or whatever
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: above average. What's your gut kind of telling you on
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: this on this trilogy.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: My gut's telling me like like like you said, Chris,
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I thought Serano won the first two fights. I think
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: there was a little confusion, especially in the first one
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: where you had Serrano really about had Taylor out and
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: then Taylor made this amazing comeback winning rounds and but
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: but you know, in the first half of the fight
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: it was all Serrano and Serrano almost knocked her out.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: And then to me, it's like you said, I do
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: think there was some psychology involved there, because you know,
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: my feeling was in the first fight there was there
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: was no way Taylor won the last round and judges,
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: you know, were gave Taylor my record the last round
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: and you gave her the fight, and I was just like, nah, no, now.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: You know that that was that.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: I'm doing that off the top of my head. That
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: was my recollection of this. The second fight, then I
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: had a reservation going in even though I thought Serrano
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: won the first fight, just that you know, she had
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: been at much lower weights earlier in her career, and
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: she's moved up very effectively because especially for the women's game,
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: her powers carried and she's got good power, I mean,
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: and it even has carried into these fights really with Taylor,
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: even though you know she didn't stop her either time, so.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: We aren't correct by the way. I just checked the cards.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: They all went to the tenth round, all went to.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was like not, now, remember yes, the
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: sweet the sweep to get herself in position, right, yeah,
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: way to put it, no argument. But again you look
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: back at the tenth No, not not. And then the
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: judges all gave her the tenth and I was like, no,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: no way that that. So in the second fight, I
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: thought maybe it might be a little bit. I usually
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: think the weight's overrated, but I think I thought Serena
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: coming up so far that maybe that five pounds might
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: make a difference, but it didn't. It didn't. Like I
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: thought he won the second fight too, So I that
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: leads me to feeling good about Serrano going into this
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: fight because I don't have that weight concern. She's the
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: more powerful fighter, she's the younger fighter. You know, she's
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: really the quicker fighter. I mean Taylor, Katie, Taylor's got
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: skills and she's tough. I like her, and I'm not saying,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: of course these fights have been very competitive, but Taylor
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: is getting at an advanced age.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: Serrano is the favorite, just a slight favorite, but yeah,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: it's big. I feel good about her, and it's always
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: going to be really hard with the two minute rounds.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: And I'm not going to predict it, but I was looking,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: you know, for the old value flyer bet maybe maybe
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: of the weekend SaRenna. I think Serrano ko is plus
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: six hundred. Yeah, you know that's that's any kind of
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: stop it. So I'm not picking a stoppage, but I'm
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: picking Serrano. I feel if I you know, she still
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: was able to be effective. It's against Taylor at this
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: weight and she's younger, she's quicker, she's got more power.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Her problem in the fights has been, I think, right,
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: being the naturally smaller fighter, you know, even though they're
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: fighting it the same weight. That when when you know,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: when she's throwing a lot, going up against somebody really bigger, stronger,
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: that seems to have moments where it kind of kind
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: of gases her and takes something out of it.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it does.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: That's what I felt, you know, has gone on in
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: these fights. So that's kind of a factor. But now
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: I'm thinking when you look at a trilogy, that's where
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: Taylor's age is going to work against her because even
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: though she's still stronger, she's going to still have the strength,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: She's not as powerful, she's not as quick, you know,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: she's at an age disadvantage. This should it's you know, Serrano.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: There was talk, you know, maybe they'd have a third fight,
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: you know in Ireland or over in the UK or
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: something that didn't happen. So Serrano's you know, uh, in
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: her home country. I think I think she should have
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: the motivation. I see Taylor already saying, of course, you know,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: why would she talk down herself. She's got pride and everything,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: but like, well, I'm taking this fight when I already
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: beat her twice and we know what the scorecards were
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: in the box trick, like you said, But I'm thinking
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: of myself reading the quotes like you've got a little
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: more to prove. You've got a little more here to
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: prove than that, at least to me and a lot
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: of fans in this in this trilogy. But but she
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: seems to be taking an approach like, oh, I've won
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: the first two fights, you know, I didn't really need.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: This seems to me to be set up pretty good
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: for Serrano. I mean, not like a setup type thing,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: but I mean just all the all the elements seemed
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: to me to be be set that Serrano is a
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: good play here. You know, if you look at it
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: outside of the judges, you can make the case you
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: already beat her twice, and she's younger, got more power,
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: so she's got the power factor there, which you don't
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: see in the women's game as much. But Serrano has
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: it so tough to get a stoppage against somebody as
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: good as Tailor, you know, in ten two minute rounds.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: But I think Serrano might be able to do it.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: I'm not going to pick the stoppage, I think that's
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: less likely. I'll just pick her for the win. But
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: I think that's even a serrano, And I think the
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: stoppage is a good flyer play. I'm not picking her
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: by stoppage, but I think he could get worse plus
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: six hundred plays than that.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, No. I agree that it could
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: be and it could be just a swollen up eye
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: or you know, like you said, it could come in
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: a lot of different ways, right. I think people the
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: psychological thing plays into the fight coming up on Friday,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: but also, like you said, in the first fight, when
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: the judges and people in general c Taylor that hurt
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: and then she can get that momentum back, right, I
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: think that kind of plays into oh, that's a great story,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: go ahead and give her this round because damn, that
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: was awesome. It's kind of like when we see mismatches
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: on paper and then the person starts doing good in
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: the early rounds and all of a sudden, I don't know,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: it could have been a draw. It's like, oh no, no, rounds,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: it was too too. But so I think that kind
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: of plays into it. And obviously she is the more
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: popular fighter and it was a big crowd in massive
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: square garden that first time. It was you know, it's
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: it was great to watch. Hopefully we get another one
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: like that. But also the the flip side of it
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: psychology wise, is, you know, you tend to get some
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: judges going huh, like, maybe you know, if Surround's doing good,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: maybe they'll give her the benefit of the doubt now
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: and she is the favorite. And so I've heard some
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: people kind of going with that line too, where they're
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: and I and I thought there is some truth to that,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: but it's at the same time it's like, well it
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: sure has. We haven't seen any of that through two
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: fights because Taylor's gotten the benefit of the doubt the
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: whole time. So I don't know if I'm ready to
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: go off on that way. You know, I think what
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: you're saying is I felt she at least won one
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: of them, if not two, or maybe a draw, you know,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: one oh one. I'd have been fine with that. But
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: but the fact that Serrano knows deep down she went
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: a bunch of rounds, she knows how to do it,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: maybe she'll pace herself a little bit better. Because I
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: agree there has been some of that and maybe it.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Maybe Taylor is so tough that you know the effect
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: she maybe she thought she had her hurt and it
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: was like, okay, here we go, and then she really
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: released and got tired off of that that happens. But overall,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: I think it is worth a flyer, like you mentioned.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: But but I will be going uh Amna Serano by decision,
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: And like I said, the inner card is just like, hey,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: we're gonna match some of the these female fighters up
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: in the in the near future. We signed all these
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: you know, female fighters, so we're gonna showcase them. And
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: if you're gonna do that, that does make sense on
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: a card like this, I will say that. But hopefully
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: you know, because when you look it's like, you know,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Cameron her you know, Jessica is a plus seven twenty right,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: A plus four really plus four four hundred is the
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: lowest underdog out of all of them, right, So you
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: know you got bomb Gunner, you got Scutiny, you got Marshall,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: you got care so you got that. The A sides
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: are like, yeah, these are good fighters.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: They are I was, good fighters, but the chips are bad.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: So I'm just hoping that it's one of those things
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: where one or two of them just pop stylistically where
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: you're like, Okay, well, at least that's entertaining. But yeah,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I don't I don't really see an upset in there.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: That's a risk because you know Jake Paul and you know,
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: he's got that guy that does the promotions with him,
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: who runs it. You know, they did a great thing
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: where they got you know, Serrano and Taylor that exposure.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: And.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: People were talking about that fight too, you know, right, right,
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: But I mean like they shouldn't, right, they should learn.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Like That's what gets me a little nervous about this
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: undercard is like it's almost like they didn't learn their
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: own lesson like that that parlayed him into this spot. Like, guys,
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: you want to do That's what I was thinking. I'm like,
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: I didn't want to complain because I was so happy
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: they got Taylor Sanna on Netflix, but like I was
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: kind of like, guys, you know, you're not like following
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: the lesson that got you here, Like you are like
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: a really really good matchup that everybody's going to see
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: leading into Tailor Serrano three and then do the same thing,
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: like you said, instead of the old that's kind of
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: the old boxing thing that Frank hasn't been very effective
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: when you're really looking at it, like we're going to showcase,
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: you know, these people in mismatches and then we'll have
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: them down the road and that'll be digging. That doesn't
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: doesn't really work that way. It's more like it works
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: the way you did it with this, Like you get
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: a great like think of even when let's go back
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: thirty years and because you're gonna have Sydney Sweeney doing
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: it in a movie player soon, Like when Christy Martin
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: had that fight with Dedre Gogerty out of the Tyson undercard.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: I mean like then like people were all talking about
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: it like Tyson, but then like it's a brawl and
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: you know, like and it leads to Christy Martin being
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: like her own thing. Yeah, you know you want to
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: have you know, but you want to try to make
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: that good fight. It's what you said, Chris, what they
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: do then they they hope, well, maybe one of them
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: turns into a good fight and we didn't have to,
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: you know, pay that much. But that's just you know,
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: that's not planning for success. I mean, like you want
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: to put some even money odds fight, right leading into
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: that Tailor Serrano, and they haven't done that here. I mean,
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: I would have liked to see him do that male
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: or female. The more I thought about, I thought, well,
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: it is fair to say, hey, we want to have
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: the women get some exposure after Tailor and Serrano earned
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: it with how good their flight was. But like, make
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: it with an even matchup, you know, figure something, I
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: do it. I mean, it's gonna you know, in that sense,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: you could say, hey, it's cost wise going to probably
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: be cheaper than a male fight you're gonna put together there,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: yeah or not? So you know, why not do that?
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: You know, why not do that here? I'm worried about
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: that being a missed opportunity. I want to enjoy what
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: we got a good main event on Netflix, but I
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: like to see these undercard opportunities and these big exposure
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: events utilized better.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Yeah. The only the only way out of that would be,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: you know, after the undercards they say, you know, they say, hey,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: coming in November you know on Netflix. Okay, okay, then
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: you saved it. But you know, do we know that
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: that's happening? No, we don't know that. So yeah, yeah,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: that's that is the only thing, you know, you get
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: some talented, talented fighters, but you know, it feels kind
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: of like you said that we just signed them up,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: we're gonna get them, we're gonna put them out there,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: and we're gonna you know, so they're just all under
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: your banner. But then you're putting them in showcases, especially
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: all four of them. You know, all four fights are showcases.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: I think sometimes opportunities missed, especially with my feeling that
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: there's too many weight classes and you didn't see this
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: forty years ago, even when they didn't pay attention to
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: as many of the junior classes and stuff, but they
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: weren't bashful about doing this, Like I think missed opportunities
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: too are like where they're not creative enough is look,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: pay somebody to move up and wait, you know there's
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: fighters good enough to do it. Like in other words,
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: if that gets you a good matchup, right, pay somebody
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: to do it, you know. In other words, say well,
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: we couldn't really get there's nobody really at this way,
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: and you know, like, well, you know, pay somebody, pay
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: somebody handsomely to move up and then and where it's
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: still where it is going to be a close odds fight,
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: even if somebody's moving up and wait and have a
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: really good matchup. You know, we don't male female, we're
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: not we're not seeing that.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I agree. And like you said, it's
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: not like they're have a Netflix deal, you know, so
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: that that'd be a lot different because then at least
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: you think, okay, well they're gonna they talk about on
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: the broadcast and hey, in November we had a car
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: coming up. Then at least you salvage something. But if
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: you don't, if you don't get much out of it,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: and you're just hoping something organically happens. You know, organically's great,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: but it has to be a you know, closer match.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Let's see, you're the highest I see for Taylor right
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: now is Caesar's plus one forty three FanDuel has their
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: plus one twenty DraftKings has plus one forty. So yeah,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: that's that's gonna be interesting. All right. So we'll move
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: on to uh, the just own card, the pay per
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: view card, the main event. You know Berlanga, you know,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: he he he was pretty kind of a no show
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: at times against Canel. A lot of the time against Canelo,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: but then he did start doing something later in the fight.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Obviously he took the victory lap you know, all online
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: and stuff like that, and the way he I don't know,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: there's something about I don't know. It's kind of strange
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: because I wouldn't have, like prior to his opponents last fight,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I wouldn't have to think much about this fight to
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: be you know what I mean. I just think that
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: long jab. Yeah, that's the story right there. That's a
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: that's a nutshell of the story to who's gonna win
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: the fight is Chira's long jab. But we saw him
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: not want to pull the trigger and not you know,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: a guy, a guy who ottomus you know, can be
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: a fun fighter. Watch Ken also hold his bunches, but
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: he's not a power guy. So it's kind of like, man,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: are you gonna be worried about Berlanga because you know,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: he does have at least some pop at the high level.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: But it is kind of interesting how all of a sudden,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: I mean, this is about his fifty fifties. Get John
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: and Fan duel right now, minus one twelve apiece, Giraz
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: plus one oh five. There's another minus one ten apiece,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: So I mean this is this is fifty to fifty
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: and like I said a year ago, I wouldn't even
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: had to second guess it. But what are you thinking here?
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: Because both of them have something to prove and going
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: into a closely matched fight, I kind of think that
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: we could get a good fight here. You know, maybe
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: that's just me as a boxing fan wanting that or
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: as a pay per view buyer wanting that, but also
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: both these guys have a weird style where you're like,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: this could be a really bad snooze fest too, but
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: where you at with this one heading.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: In close eyes and you know that that gives you
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: much better chance for a good fight. So they've done
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: the right thing. At least they're calling this one the
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: main event, which is a little surprising with Stevenson's Apaida
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: on the card. But you know, I was thinking with
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: that part of it two that you and I kind
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: of said this, Chris, like this were top rank what
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: they're leading to. Nothing like even though they may have
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: been right that Berlanga wasn't as talented as they'd hoped,
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: so they weren't lost interest in them, but you know,
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: where the sport was, you just didn't have many people
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: who were drawing numbers on ESPN like he was there
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: was a value there and it's been proven as years
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: gone by, like, look, this guy's headlining now, it's really
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: because he got the ESPN exposure and did some number,
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: so you know, it's not that he's a superstar or something,
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: and especially the way was that. But but look, the
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: guy's in the main event in New York. You know
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: on a pay per view there was there's some value
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: there with people draw ratings like that, and Stevenson did too,
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Like you would get get to him in a moment,
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: but you know, you'd get these students fest when I
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: and everybody else it would be universal saying, gad, this
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: fight's boring. I don't want to watch this guy again.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: But then you look at his ratings and they were
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: they were high comp Yeah, it's like, well somebody wants
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: to see if we keep saying it, but somehow, for
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: whatever reason, we watch them and we say it and
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: watch them again.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: But in the main event, they built a couple of
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: guys to beeper Langa that have been fine too, right, right, exactly,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: keep them for that reason.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: That reason, right, build somebody else up at the same time. Yeah,
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: but anyway, so this is a tight one. Yeah, I
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: was really liking the way the direction was. Sheer As
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: was was headed, you know, with the impressive KOs of
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: Ammo Williams and Liam Williams, even though those fighters are limited,
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: but they you know, top tennish kind of guys at
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: their best, and he had impressive knockouts. But then you
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: know the Adamas fight, he was dreadful. I thought to me,
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: that was draw was a robbery. I thought a Damas
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: got robbed, he clearly wouldn't fight, and you know I
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: was picking cheer As going in. I was horribly disappointed.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: I thought he lost the fight, made all kinds of
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: excuses after the fight and all this kind of stuff.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: I mean, the guy was terrible and he didn't deserve
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: a draw in that fight Adam. I thought that was
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: a straight out robbery. So I thought Adamas fought well,
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: clearly when and Cheerras was terrible. So that was a huge,
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: huge disappointment. You know, now he's going up eight pounds,
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: you know, like I always say, these are these are
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: created classes by the alphabets. In my judgment, you really
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: don't need so it shouldn't mean that funchy, tall guy
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: shouldn't mean much. But he's coming off a bad performance.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: So that's the thing. You know, he's but you know,
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: Berlanga has been mediocre Relli at best. A Yeah, you know,
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: he has a power here and there, but he hasn't
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: been near the puncher that we thought. It appeared he
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: was coming up with the lesser opposition that, unfortunately for
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: him and to some degree the fans, has proven to
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: be true. Yeah, he can punch, but he's not the
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: puncher that we thought maybe he was and they were
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: building him up to be. So that's where we end
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: up with even money here. And I'm with the odds makers.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: I'm finding this one real tough to paul. You know,
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: I don't think this time.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: A lot of people go to Berlanga all of a sudden,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: And I'm not quite there yet. I'm still hemming and
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: hauling myself. But the one thing I'm thinking, you know,
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: it matters somewhat, not not a ton, but somewhat like
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: maybe this one's just close enough that, you know, Sheer
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: has having to travel and Berlanga being in the hometown,
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: I don't even mean with the judges, just comfort, you know,
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: maybe does that maybe put him over the top. I
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: don't know if I'm quite there because watching the two
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: of them, I think sheer As looks to be the
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: more talented guy, even after the terrible performance against a Damas.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: My gut wants to say he's got more talent. And
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: you know that usual usually, unlike we like to think,
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: most times talent's good. Most times, the talent's gonna win. Well,
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: you know, the intangibles come in once in a while,
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: but most times the talent's going to prevail.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: So yeah, compared to how many times we bring up
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: the intangibles, true.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: Right, we bring them up a lot, but most of
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: the times it's the talent. You know, sometimes the intangible
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: is going to do it. This could be that type
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: of fight. That's why I'm looking at one intangible maybe
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: Berlanga being in the hometown just being comfortable and sheer
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: As having to t you know, could that be enough
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: to maybe give Berlang enough momentum to maybe get a
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: decision in this fight.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Possibly fight good out of his hometown or his home
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: country last time, even though you know it's not that
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: long of a travel per se, but still, you know, right,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: look good, No, it wasn't comfortable, not.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: At all, not at all, and so this one even
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: just a few days before the fight. I'm not quite
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: settled on it. I can't quite make up my mind,
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: but I'm thinking a little bit about that intangible. But
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: then the what doesn't want to make me go with
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: it is I think she has has more talent, and
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: you know, I could I could see thinking, well, maybe
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: that hometown intangible is enough, and I could see shere
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: as just getting leverage after getting a rhythm after a
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: few rounds and just catching Berlanga right on the button
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: with it right, Yeah, and he ends up getting a
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: spectacular win. And then you know, being you know, being Rocky.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: He definitely wants him to win. He's already clearly said it.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Yeah, the ways for him, the way he favors him
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: is bizarre, It is bizarre, and there's no doubt we
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: I mean, we do have the video of him doing it,
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: so it's just it's just a fact. It's strange, but
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: it's just a fact. So yeah, we we know Turkey
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: alask wants Shiraz to win, so which which then leads
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: you to believe too. You gotta faith in your own
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: boxing judgment. And of course we followed as much as anybody,
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: so we do. But then that leads you to believe,
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: like well, Turkey Alashik thinks Saras can beat Berlanga. It
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: doesn't mean he's right, but he believes it because he
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: likes the guy he wants him to win is the
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: opponent he's selected, so you know, he thinks, you know,
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: and he so him warns people they think they could
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: be you know, Sharaz can eat him there, or I
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: don't think they'd take it.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: I'm sure the last thing. They don't want to sign
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: him to a multi fight deal and lose back to
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: back or you know, draw and no win.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: You know, yeah, they don't want to be that behind
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: the guy and then draw and then losing the Berlin Gay.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: I mean, then he really is sunk. So I can't
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: I just haven't quite settled in on I just haven't
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: quite settled in on this one yet.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: I'm going sure As because I think that Jab, I
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: think you'll have something to prove, not to say that
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: he's going to go out there because he had something
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: to prove in his last fight that was a big
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: fight by you know, so that I can't really go
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: on that. Because you had time to be sure, didn't
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: look like you wanted to prove anything in the last fight. Now,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: they both fought this year, so obviously you know, Shiraz
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: had a full fight, whereas it was just a quick one,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: but you still had a camp and everything. So they
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: fought within a month from each other. So I think
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: that's a positive, especially nowadays, you know, I think that
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: could be a positive for both where they're both in
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: great shape and stuff like that, and maybe maybe a
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: little a little sharper or whatever, not that I think
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: both these guys are shark fighters. I just can't get over.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Blanga's defense is just not good at all. And I
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: mean even when they show those highlights of him, you know,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: not shadow boxing, but shadow defending, like you know, when
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: he's up against the rope and all that, it just
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: looks horrible. Not that he'd fight like that, but I
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: just see so many holes in his game beyond the
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: big punch.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: And you're reminding me that he really, he really hasn't
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: been good now for the level of opposition he's been
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: in with.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: Yes, like when he had those you know, really mid
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: and mediocres putting it lightly, when he had those guys,
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: he would take him out and they even you know,
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: they kept saying that the Mike Tyson in first round
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: and he's on he's got a street going, and so
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: I gave him credit because he would knock those guys out.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: But once he got in there with just a just
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: a okay guy, it just he looked bad, you know.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: And and then the he really knows showed Canelo till late.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: And then also I don't and maybe this is just
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: me personally skewing my opinion, but he not only did
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: he celebrate the loss, but the way he's given advice
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: how to beat Canelo John, you know, and it's kind
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: of like what would you have a you had your chance,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: you were in the ring, you know, and there's no
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: way in hell they want to do Berlanga Canelo too.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Now I say that, you know, but if he came
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: off and knocked out Chiraz, maybe it would still do numbers,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: because the first one did do numbers.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: The boy, you're the boy you're talking about it, Paul, Jake,
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Paul might be in our future and yeah, right, hey,
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: there you go, Jake, Paul bight start looking at you said,
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: I just might be able to take that a second.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: You know, this guy's got some exposure, but I just
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: can he deliver the big punch that he needs to
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: do Berlanga. Maybe, but I do think that Sharraz can
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: deliver his jab in this particular fight. So I'm going
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: with him by a decision. But you know, with Berlanga,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: you do got to watch the power somewhat, not nearly
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: as much as people think or say, because I think
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: what you said, sharask he could knock him out, because
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: it's not like Berlanga has some kind of great chin
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: Either, you know, I could I could see. I could
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: see Shara knocking him out.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: I could too. I could too. I've I've put one
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: bet down, or actually i haven't. But I'm going to
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: after the show for Charraz by decision, but I might.
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: I'm either gonna do it by decision or just straight
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: up kind of looking at the odds. But it does,
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: it does kind of. Maybe I will take out a
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: double flyer this week and the one you mentioned and
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: then this one because I just don't believe in Berlanga whatsoever.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: Now the more the more you're just talking about it,
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: really you know, I'm still where I am, but but
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: I'm the more I'm thinking, I don't know, what are
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: the odds on a on a Shiraz k that I
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: didn't say question, but since he since it's a close fight,
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: they're probably all right.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: And I just Berlanga is just you know, obviously, you know,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: I hate Draft.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: King just got Shiraz by Ko at plus two seventy. Okay,
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: I wouldn't feel bad. I wouldn't feel bad about taking
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: a flyer on that one. Yeah, and by just by decision,
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Draft Kings has him at plus two hundred.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: Oh really by decision huh? Interesting? So yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna say by decision just on my prediction on
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: the show, probably in my in my preview prediction, that'll
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: probably be it two. But I think the door has
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: to be open for sure for the stoppage, and I
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: just I might be like over the top biased when
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: it comes to Berlanga in the negative way. I will
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: have to admit that maybe, but I just don't see
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: a damn thing in this guy, and so it's really
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: hard for me to pick him, even even with Sharaz
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: coming off such a non competing you know thing. Do
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: you hear? Here's the so by knockout on my bookie
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: is Sharaz is a plus three twenty for a knockout,
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: plus one seventy one for decision.
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that that's plus three twenty for a knockout.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: That's a pretty good price to me for a guy
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: that that guy that is a puncher.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Him as a plus one. They have Berlanga plus one
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: oh one. So it's basically fifty to fifty huh. Interesting.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: And then just like we were saying before on my
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Bucky Serrano by KOs plus five ten.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: Yeahraft DraftKings, I'll see that. Last I checked, they had
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: her at plus six hundred, which.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: I was higher.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I like for a flyer. But yeah, but yeah,
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: if we're shopping around, can help you see if they
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: still have.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: You might as well see where it's at. See if
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: it's you're.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: Still plus like still plus six hundred.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: There you go, there you be. Yeah. I just I'm
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: just down on Berlanga and I and like I said,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: I could be a little biased just because of all
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: this aftermath stuff. I'm not a big When you show
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: a non effort and then you act like you put
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: in an effort, I hate that, and so I do
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: gotta admit that I am a little biased with that.
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: So I could be going over the top. But I've
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: just never seen a thing in Berlanga beyond i'd call
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: it pop some power, I wouldn't call it the knockout
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: stuff he was doing, you know what I mean?
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: No, some he's got right, he he's shown he does
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: have some pop, but not some kind of like one punch.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: And the delivery system is real shaky, very shaky.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: That's what I always thought. I think that's one of
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: the most underrated things in boxing, right, Yes, delivery system.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: I always look for pop first and the delivery system
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: when guys are coming up, and I agree with you,
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: delivery systems poor.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: And beyond that ship the chin issue that Wilder has
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: the deliver you know, he doesn't have his delivery system anymore, right,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: he just does. He just can't. He can't do it.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: It's just not That's what I saw in his last
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: few fights with Maybe he shouldn't be back, is right.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: He doesn't even have the delivery system for the right
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: hand anymore.
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: Yep. And when that's when that's certain, you know, then
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: you get exposed, you know, like he has. So all right,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: so let's go to uh And as far as I know,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: it's a twenty twenty ring but we've heard eighteen by eighteen,
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: you know, he's put up the goofy stuff that the
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: ring is gonna shrink as we fight, which is obviously
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: it's not gonna happen. I guess it's twenty by twenty.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: That's the last thing I've heard, because Stevenson and other
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: fighters are like, that's not what we're agreed upon. Now
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: you're just gonna switch the damn ring, you know. I uh,
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: so ze Pata right, Can he you know, apply that pressure?
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: Can he get close to him? Or? Is Stevenson's jab
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: movement defense and you know, like a neutralizer, you know,
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: not always great defense or pretty, but he neutralizes no
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: matter how you look.
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: I think I actually think that's the more I thought
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: about this fight. And you look at the odds and
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: see it's a big favor. But I think what you're
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: saying right there, Chris, I jumped in because I think
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: that's the key is that we have to look at it.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: I believe in compu box numbers, Stevenson gets hit less
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: than anybody in boxing, so we know by CompuBox paid
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: is thrown at a volume like which is unheard of,
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: frankly for even a lightweight like he's he's throwing at
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: a volume like flyweights, which and you know he has
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: some pop. He didn't end up being the kind of
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: power they were building him up with early and when
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: he was against lesser opposition, which happens a lot, but
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: you haven't seen it as much as he stepped up.
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: But you know, I think we've got to look at
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: it like, like, you know, Stevenson, he hasn't been getting
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: hit yet, so for really to me, for ze Pay
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: to have a chance. You know, obviously he's going to
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: be trying to do the high volume. It's got to
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: be he probably won't be layding that much, but that
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: he does move his hands a lot, and he keeps
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: moving him and Stevenson's just not throwing back enough and
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: then he steals a decision. I mean, that's the path
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: the victory be a controversial type thing. So Stevenson, the
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: problem for me always is is you know what offense
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: is he's going to bring. You know, we agree he's
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: one of the rare exceptions that he punches better to
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: the body than he does the head, and you really
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: don't expect that guy that's a defensive boxer like him,
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: But that's what we've seen. So I think a big
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: key that would open this up for Stevenson for me
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: would be, is he going to be himself but against
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: a guy on the level of Zapaida, which which frankly,
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: Stevenson's level of opposition hasn't overall the neck great really
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: really really look at it. You know, there's been some
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: guys there, but you know, he fought Valdez, he fought Herring.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: But you know, it's it's not like a murder. It's
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: not like a murderer's row. So you know, if you're
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: gonna say the paida is the toughest guy he's fought
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: so far, I'm not going to argue with that.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't. Not, I wouldn't. There's not a big
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: debate on that, I don't think.
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: But you know, he's he's a minus one thousand favorite
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: on DraftKings. But but what I'm getting to is, if
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: Stevenson brings enough offense here, like if he's not afraid
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: to work the body some against the paida with with
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: what else he's gonna do, I think it'll be enough
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: with his defense that he'll neutralize, as you said, paid enough,
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: especially because the paida had a surprisingly amount of trouble
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: with Farmer, which none of us were expecting, including the
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: odds makers. So and then that's not aging that well with.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: What just yeah, just did the fine prior to that,
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: Hughes in Cabrera, which you could say they can box
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: on the outside a little bit, especially Cabrera, he took,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: he tore them up, but then had two really close
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: fights in a row against the farm.
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: You know, right. So I think as all as Stevenson
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: brings enough offense, which to me is does he go
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: to the body at least some at least some because
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: he can hurt you there. I haven't seen him do
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: that a lot against the better opposition he has, for
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: I think that would be a huge step forward. If
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: he's doing his neutralizing, you know, and throwing headshots, but
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: he works the body some against the paida I think
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: then his offense will be enough where he can get
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: a decision. But I do see a scenario for Cebeta,
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: even though he's a big underdog that if he's if
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: he's moving his hands, which he always does based on
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: his punch output. And I'm already presuming with Stevenson being
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: the best defensive fighter in boxing statistically, he's not going
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: to land them. But Stevens is not doing anything back
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: and Zaid is moving forward. Like I've said, I think
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: for the sport of boxing, you do have to give
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: Zepaida rounds there because we have you know, I feel
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: like that's why you have effective aggression. People got to
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: make the f Now. I know the argument back as well.
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: If Stevens is making a miss and Paid is moving
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: forward and throwing a lot, well that's not effective. But
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: but on the contrary, Stevens is not doing anything so
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: you know, offensively, So like I'm still gonna give the
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: guy throwing punch at least throwing punches around. I you know,
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: if it's that kind of an ugly fight like that
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: where Paid is throwing a ton not landing, but Stevens
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: is not doing anything, which which we've seen him do
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: in some bad performances, there would be there is a
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: path for the upset for Paid. You know, I'm gonna
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: stick with Stevenson that he uses this as a showcase
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: and brings some offense and then gets it. This utralizes
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: him and then gets a decision. That's what I'm gonna
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: go with. But I can't say this is one where
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: I don't see a path at all for a paida.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: I do see one path where where he's not landing
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: but throwing a ton and and Stevenson is doing nothing
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: offensively and he steals around, so to speak, and ends
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: up getting a controversial decision.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Well, we know Turkey doesn't like the cat and mouse
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: you know scenario. So yeah, he's been saying that, like,
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: so yeah, I'm with you. I think Stevenson, like I said,
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: just the neutralize the neutralizer. I think he'll I think
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: he'll get by this one if Farmer can do enough
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: in you know twenty two rounds where there really wasn't
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: much separation at all, which surprised the second one too.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: You know, I think Stevenson will, we'll get it done.
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: So you have David Roll coming off in a loss,
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: a pretty good performance. We were always wondering, you know,
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: like there was that gap where it was getting tough,
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: like Shishkin and some other fighters that they tried to
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: make and he just couldn't make the fight. They went
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: other ways to make more money, or maybe they'd be
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: in a certain sanctioning belt where they just hold whole
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: position and try to get a belt or whatever. Either way,
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: he was just green, you know, he was as far
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: as taking out David Benavitez anyway, and we are always
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: kind of wondering, like, huh, you know, it's it's I
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: wish he could have got one or two real in
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: between fights. He got the rounds, but the in between fights,
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: you know, I think the last one he got did
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: actually help him as probably his best uh well, his
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: best opponent, but also he had some issues in it,
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: so it actually, you know, it kind of spawned a
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: pretty good performance. I thought it was a fun fight
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: to watch. But is this guy he's facing, who you know,
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: isn't that well known, doesn't have a large pro resume.
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: Is David Morrell gonna pick a you know, pick up
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: where he left off and climb back up, and hey,
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: I lost to Benavidez? Or is he in a dangerous fight?
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: Because that you know people that I I definitely uh
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: trust when it comes to boxing, especially someone from Canada.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: He's like, this is a real fight. This is gonna
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: be a tough fight. It's gonna you know, both of
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: them power. How do you see this one playing out?
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: Because his opponent, not that he's unknown, there's there's film
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: of him, but he just you know, he hasn't fought
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: someone on that level.
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: You know, yeah, this Katayev. You know, he has a
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: high KO percentage, but he hasn't fought anybody. So that's
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: the mystery here. I think the risk here in handicapped.
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: Morell is a solid favorite. I liked his performance against Benavidez.
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: I thought he showed some aggression and toughness in the fight.
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: But I was thinking of, you know, great broadcaster Larry Merchant.
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: One of his old things that i'd heard him say
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: over the decades, he was always careful putting too much
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: stock in a guy after a good loss. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: I think that's almost what people are sensing with this one.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: And that's just where I worry a little bit of
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: Morell is, Like, you know, he didn't win against Benavidez.
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: He wasn't that close on the scorecards. Now we know
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: Benavitez is real tough, and I'm with you. I like
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: the performance, but I was thinking a little bit of
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: those Larry Merchant words like.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: And then plus the fight before it, where he looked,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: you know, like it could be could fine tune some
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: things right.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: Like where if this where there could be a combination
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: of factors here. This is like I was just talking
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: in the other fight, we want close ons fights and
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: the Stevenson's paida is not that close on paper, Nora
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: is Morell and Katsayev. But I do you do see
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: kind of some paths, and like in this one, it's like, right,
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: if Morell were putting too much stock in a quote
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: unquote good loss where he wasn't he did it. I
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: thought he was starting to even hurt Benavidez in a
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: couple of points, but he wasn't that close on the
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: cards and he lost.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: It's true, it wasn't a fifty to fifty who's gonna
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: win the last round type thing.
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: Right, Like if like if we're giving him a little
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: too much, maybe maybe we've given him too much credit
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: for that because we respect Benevidez. And then this Katsayev
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: who has the high KO percentage. It turns out he's
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: for real and just hasn't fought anybody yet. Yeah, that
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: could be a bad combo for Morell because he's coming
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: off a tough fight too. Yeah, so that's one too
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: where I do see one path, Like you know, you
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: never know with the boxer when they take damage in
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: a tough fight, it still was a loss. And then
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: all of a sudden, if Kotsayev this Ko percentage is
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: for real, then you can get a shocker. But if
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: Morell if his performance in that loss, which I did
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: like myself as you did, like, if it really was
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: for real, so to speak, as he just lost to
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: a really good guy in Benavidez, and this Katsayev hasn't
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: fought anybody, then it could be Burrell blows him away.
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: You know, Yev is just a fraud who hasn't fought
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: anybody in Morell, you know, only picked up a loss
- 1:46:07Speaker 2: because he was in with somebody as good as Benavidez.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: Then Ka is going to be in trouble and Morell
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: could be right back on track. I mean, I would
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: think that's the more likely scenario here, and then Morell
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: we'll take this guy out. But there is that one
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: scenario that interests me that you have to watch for,
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: where if we're giving Morell a little too much credit
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: and a loss and he took some damage, and then
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: this Katsayev the power for real and he just hasn't
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: gotten to show it against the higher opposition.
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Ian Morell does fall in love with like pot
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: shots and big shots. You know, like he did the
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: fight before, he wasn't using the game plan that well.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: When he was doing it, he was winning the realm clearly,
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: but it seems like he kind of falls in love
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: with one shot at a time, and so he could
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: get a little you know, he loves to get a
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: little flashy in there too, so he could get a
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: little flashy, could get a little one punch at the
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: time and get caught. So I kind of see that
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: scenario not playing out. But like you said, the path
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: of victory, I think that would be the path of victory.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: And yeah, I've watched this one of his fights, and
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: I've watched some other parts of fights, But you know,
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: how much does that really play into when you know
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: it's competition level, and you know, somebody could show like
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: a really great jab and they are body punching and whatever,
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: and I get more out of that than I do someone,
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: you know, stopping somebody that's not really much to look into.
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: But I'm gonna say, David Merrewe, I don't know if
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: he'll stop him though, you know, I am kind of
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: in between on that. He generally goes for it, that's
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: for sure. But I'm really interesting to see because sometimes
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: you know, you know how they say when you win
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: your first belt, you know, I never believe like the
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: thirty or forty percent that you become that much better
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: as a But I think there is something about accomplishing
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: something and having the confidence and all that. But you
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: can also do on the flip side where you're like,
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: all right, I made it, you know, and then it's like,
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: all right, well you're gonna keep it proving, you know,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: because you know you haven't made it all the way.
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: So and we could say the same thing. This obviously
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: Morel's flashy or whatever, but you know, for a while,
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: until his last two fights, we were wondering too because
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: he just hadn't fought you know, the talent. So but
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: but I'd still say just because he went what he had,
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: he was in there with some durable guys, uh to
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: go those rounds, you know, where is this guy? Not
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: as much? So I'm gonna go Daved Morell. Not sure
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: about the ending, you know, I'm not sure if it's
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: gonna be decision or a knockout. And then another closely, well,
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: this is the main event in the In this other fight,
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: Mattias returns against Playo. I mean it is, you know,
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: it's neck and neck on the on the I'm on
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: pro boxing odds right now, and it's neck and neck.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: It's it's it's anybody's matchup. Play you is like you
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: know on FanDuel a plus one O eight A minus
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: one oh five plus one hundred plus one ten. You
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: know the old styles Night fights in this type of fight,
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: and Mattias when he gets going and when he can
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: work you down and wear you out and just beat
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: you up, it's gonna be a long, long day because
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: he can take shots. But we have seen styles that
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: give him some issues. How do you see uh this
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: one playing out?
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: I think for me, this one comes down to Mattias's
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: age here he's thirty three, but you know, for one
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: hundred and forty pound guy that fights like he does,
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: I've I've said this before. I've been surprised he's even
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: been able to carry it as long as he has.
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: Now he picked up the loss of Parow. I do
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: think that had something to do with that, but he
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: was able to respond with a couple more KOs after that,
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: So I think it's for me it's if Matthias can
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: bring I don't think he's going to bring it, be
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: able to bring it like he could a few years ago.
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: But I think if he brings seventy five percent of that,
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: if he can still bring seventy five percent of that
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: against Pueo, I think he's going to beat him because
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: I think Peo has been getting by. You know, you're
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: fortunate to get that Russell decision. He doesn't do a
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: lot in there. He's got no pop. You know, box
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: boxes pretty well, but you know does to me not
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: a guy that that that has a work the work
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: rate he really should in there in a lot of
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: these fights, and uh, I think so. So if Matthaas
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: is his aggressive self throwing him at if age hasn't
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: caught up with him too much, uh, he may not
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: be able to stop these guys stop him like he's
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: got the Ko percentage when he's always winning, he's always
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: stopping people.
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: That's oh, but he's got.
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: He's got one hundred right on the winds. I could
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: see this one going the distance despite that. But if
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: Matteas is like a good percentage of what he's been
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: I think he at least gets a decision here. I
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: just don't. I don't think Poeo does enough for me.
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: Yeah, because Playo will como punch from time to time,
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: but uh, there's not a lot to it. He's got
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: a good jab and whatnot, but yeah, I don't know.
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: I don't know if his defense will hold up enough
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: to where, like you said, if he does start to
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: get hit with really heavy shots, once you're in the
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: cycle with him, you know, you gotta wait till the
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: lungs is done. You're just gonna spin. Once you're in
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: the spin cycle with Mattias, it's tough to get out
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: of it. Not to say that I think he'll sit
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: there and stand and trade with him. But I'm really
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: in between on this one. I'm slightly leaning leaning uh Mattias,
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: but I don't know. They're just he does kind of
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: look worn out, and but then again he's not Mano
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: just doesn't have a lot of powers yet.
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: What that's the thing, if, if if Mathias can just
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: be close to what he's been, po doesn't have enough
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: power to hold him off because even in you know,
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: Matthias's first loss, which then he avenged later on, Yeah,
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: wasn't normally a puncher, but but it was a strange
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: give him all the credit in the world. That first
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: fight they had, he sat down and he was stinging
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: this like that was kind of the difference in the
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: fight was that, you know, he was like, man, you know,
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: I know, I got to hold this dude off. Yeah,
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: he would just as we know, he would just steamroll.
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: I mean he would just steamrolling and just bludget it
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: was budgeting people, but he was he was getting stung,
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: he was getting strong, and you know, Poo has some
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: pop you know, yeah, so but you know, then you
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: got but then you got Plato doesn't have any like
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: so if Matthaas can bring it close to where he was,
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: I don't see where Proo's got, you know, anything to
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: hold him off with or discourage him. Yeah.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm stuck on this one. It's literally like a
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: flip of the coin. But right now, early in the week, Uh,
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: I am gonna go Matthias too. Just I don't know.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: I'm just hoping for a good fight. And you know,
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: the odds are close, like we said, and usually for
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: you know, Payo. I don't know. I can see why
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: people thought he won that Russell fight, but and that
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: was Russell, like go a long. I'm pretty sure he
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: had a long you know, he's outside of the ring
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: for quite a while because of the family stuff. So
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: I'd like to see that fight again, Actually I would.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: That's that's really what I wanted to see that one again.
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: I've been thinking that him, like, let's let's that's one.
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: Sometimes there's one I want to see again. That that's one,
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: and it's probably past the cell by date now, But
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: just because of the first result being so bizarre, there's
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: there's some some parts of me and I've heard other
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: people say it too, like you got to see like
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: t O and Kem boos one more.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: Time, Like what the hell, what the hell happened?
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: What was that about? You know, can it just be
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: like reverse dramatically? So we have to think that was
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: a total fluke, you know. I mean it's it's probably
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: past the cell by date now, but but but you
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: know that that's I know some other people that felt
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: the same way too. That was another one, and I'm
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: with you, like the Russell Player is another one of
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: those for me, like I'd like to see that one again.
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: I just want to Rustle to fight twice in the year.
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: That's the you know, I want him to fight again.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: He better get a fight here soon, because he's just
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: like this close to really breaking out as a damn
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: good fighter. You know, he's how aggressive he is and
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: but he has skill, like he's very fundamental and but
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: he's trying to brawl with you, but he's doing it
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: with short, tight punches, and I just love his style lot.
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: I just hope he gets back in the ring. Supposedly
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: he is going to get in there, but but you know,
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: I just hope it doesn't turn into his brother, because
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: his brother wants a year you know type thing. He's
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: he hasn't foughten like three a half years. He's coming back.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: He's coming him coming back. So yeah, that about wraps
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: it up. Oh you know what real quick the Devin
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: Haney Brian Norman Junior. What says you about that fight, sir?
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: I think that, you know, Hani having the look of
- 1:56:08Speaker 2: maybe being damaged goods after the Garcia fight, which hey,
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: Garcia test and positive for PDS. You know, I'm not
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: blaming Haney for that one, right, but still we've got
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: to go on, and we got to go on what
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: we see. You know, Norman's showing offense. Now he was
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: a little bit inconsistent earlier in his career, but he
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: looks like he's gotten together now and the offense is there,
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: you know, not just because I mean that was a mismatch.
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: I did see that, you know, that Jin Sasaki fight.
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: I mean I thought it was a dreadful mismatch. But
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: but Norman took care of business. He did his job.
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: So and I'm not saying, you know, Devin Haney obviously
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: is not Jin Sasaki, but I think Norman's got too
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: much offense and he has skill as well, So this,
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: to me is not a good fight for Hani. I'm
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: feeling pretty good about making that call right off the bat,
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: even though you know, of course Hane' is a top fighter,
- 1:56:58Speaker 2: but I just don't think he has the offense to
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: compete with Norman. It's not and it's not that he
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: does nothing.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: Still is coming out more with Norman the game, playing
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: strategically exactly together. He's a little bit better than I thought, actually.
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: Right right, well, and he showed that some early you
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: know when right he was with PBC initially, Yeah, I
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: think he started fighting with PBC, didn't he before he
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: was with top rank go I think going way back.
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: But like, but you're you're kind of I remember you
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: were kind of like get excited about him at first
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: against the lesser opposition. Then he kind of like we
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: didn't lose, but he just wasn't looking that good and
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: topped off the radar, and then top rank picked him up.
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: And even then it wasn't like immediate, but then, you know,
- 1:57:43Speaker 2: but then it did look like that, like it looked
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: like he was getting it back together, like it just
- 1:57:48Speaker 2: it just started like then, oh no, this is what
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: we thought we might have been seeing early on, and
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: now he seems to be there because you know, it's
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: not like the guy doesn't have skills, but the guys
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: got offense. He's got pop. So like that's a bad
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: combo for for Devin Haney because it's not going to
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: be like it's some crude punch or chasing him around.
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly, he's.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: Gonna be able to stick a jab or something. This
- 1:58:10Speaker 2: is going to be a dude bringing offense who's got
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: some skills. I don't I don't think with you know,
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: the gun shy categorization with Haney probably is fair at
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: this point.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: With you know what, yeah, it's it's to TBA, you know, right,
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: ye see it. You know, so she was a guy
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: that can punch coming off, you know, some of these
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: punch as he's landed, you know, right, I.
- 1:58:33Speaker 2: Feel I think Norman's a good play. Norman's a good
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: play in this one.
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because he's not gonna be swinging for the fences.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: I mean, I hope not.
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: These are good matchups, but like, but in the sense
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: they're not, they're still not good pay per view matchups.
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: It's just worth mentioning because it's us like hardcore boxing fans, right,
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: we're discussing it, but it's it's still where you're sinking
- 1:58:55Speaker 2: in terms of the build and that's what Turkey Alashic,
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: except for Canelo crawl Ford has gotten like he's gotten
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: it there. But like you said, I agree, Like this
- 1:59:04Speaker 2: would be a perfect card this weekend, this ring card,
- 1:59:09Speaker 2: you know, headlighted by Berlanga and Sharons, This would be
- 1:59:12Speaker 2: a perfect one to be on a Netflix or you know,
- 1:59:15Speaker 2: Amazon or ESPN wherever they're going to pick more people,
- 1:59:18Speaker 2: more people. But instead you're going to pay review and
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: it's just not going to it's just not going to
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: get the viewership.
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: I guess he's just allergic to time buys or something.
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: I don't know, but it's right there sitting for him
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: and in a in a in the time when people
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: want content, you know, if you're going to pay them
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: to put on content, I just don't. I think you
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: can find a home for it, you know.
- 1:59:42Speaker 2: But that's a good point. With the money he's putting
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: out anyway, and with the Saudi resources he signs the money,
- 1:59:48Speaker 2: do at least a time by, do at least do
- 1:59:50Speaker 2: a time Yeah, yeah.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: Like say whatever you want, but hey, the UFC start
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: with a time buy, PBC start with a time by.
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: They ended up you know, the Fox still in South sure,
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: but they ended up getting the deal off of it.
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: So it's like, I don't know.
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: And Dana and Dana White, which I think was the truth,
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: they were about done, Yes, you're ready to put The
- 2:00:11Speaker 2: Ultimate Fighter, Yeah, Mike, which that had a high access
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: and people my son and I watched them all the
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: first first season and it parlayed and then they ended
- 2:00:23Speaker 2: up with like when you had the Griffin Bonner, Yeah,
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: like they had on Regular Like theudn't parlayed into like
- 2:00:29Speaker 2: regular TV if I recall, So, like, yeah, that's like,
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: you know, that's how you get things.
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: Going yep, exactly, and then you know, just to kind
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: of talk what you're talking about with that card in
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: November twenty second. The card itself once again, it's interesting,
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: there's a good fights on it. I like it. However,
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: you know it is the however though, because uh, you know,
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: Bena Vitez has got to keep his career going, right,
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: So I get that part. And he did try to
- 2:01:01Speaker 1: first make the Calliam Smith and Eddie Hurn came out
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: and said we're in negotiations, then came out and said
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: they didn't get there in the money. And I don't
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: know if that was going to be My guess is
- 2:01:12Speaker 1: it was gonna be off of It wasn't gonna be
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: a Saudi card because if it just came down to money,
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: I think that they'd take care of that. But then
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: I thought Kelly Smith was gonna get the Yard fight,
- 2:01:23Speaker 1: you know, instead of the Benavide's like, I'm gonna wait
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: my time and see if i can get the lineal
- 2:01:28Speaker 1: and then I'll I'll think it's worth losing or whatever.
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: But you know, Yard's a fine opponent. But as a
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: pay per view main event, you know, you start to
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: get like, eh, but I am glad that he's at least,
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: you know, fighting again this year, and he's obviously trying
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: to make the fights. But however, we were told, John,
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: we were told that the Benavidez Bevulf fight can't happen
- 2:01:55Speaker 1: because of the trilogy, right, And that's fair because better
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: be of you know, I get it. You know, most
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: a lot of people think he won both those fights,
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: so yeah, he should get first DIBs at his loss.
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: I'm not hating on that. But then all of a sudden,
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: it's not happening.
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: Now yet better and Better Bv's out there openly saying
- 2:02:14Speaker 2: the guy will fight me exactly.
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: So it's like and speaking openly, Turkey openly said I'm
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: not gonna bit on Bena Vida's and Bivel because I'm
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: gonna make the trilogy. Okay, well cool. So then literally
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: a day later, John, they announced the Bena Vedas fight. Boom,
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: we got news that that fight's not happening. It's like,
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: what the hell. But I do kind of like the
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: one off with the Saudi. So you're not signing three
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: or four fights, so who knows what's gonna happen, but
- 2:02:43Speaker 1: you are, you are betting the knee a little bit,
- 2:02:47Speaker 1: you know, so you're like, hey, I'm willing to do this,
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: but I just want to make sure I'm not gonna
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: fight in Alcatraz, you know what I mean, because that's
- 2:02:55Speaker 1: he was trying to get him a fight al Luckily
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: that went out the window. But so, I don't know,
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: it's just it's it's strange. But hopefully him fighting Insadi,
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: him showing loyalty here or whatever you want to say.
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: Hopefully that gets him a big fight and ship. Okay,
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: if Bival doesn't want to fight, then make better b
- 2:03:14Speaker 1: Ivan Benavenez. Who the hell wouldn't watch that fight, you know,
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: a brawl. So and most people don't think that we
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: already know what happened, so we don't even need a trilogy.
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: A lot of people don't think we need a trilogy.
- 2:03:28Speaker 2: In that fight, you know, I just saw I did
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: think myself Better be I have won both the fight,
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: So you know, I feel frustrated for Better Beef. As
- 2:03:38Speaker 2: I said before, I'm not crazy about Bivol style, and
- 2:03:41Speaker 2: you know, in some sense, I actually feel with him.
- 2:03:44Speaker 2: I feel the guy gets a little more credit than
- 2:03:46Speaker 2: he deserves. Sure entertained, you know, he was fortunate to
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: get this decision in the better be of rematch, and.
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: A lot of it comes off that Canela win, you know, right.
- 2:03:58Speaker 2: Right, you know ko percentage is low. You know, you
- 2:04:02Speaker 2: know how he had how many fights in a row
- 2:04:04Speaker 2: without a stopic you know at the high right anyway,
- 2:04:08Speaker 2: But there's some talk that I agree if I'm Turkey,
- 2:04:12Speaker 2: I'm not worried about this, Like supposedly they're gonna make
- 2:04:16Speaker 2: the fight in Rush. You just reminded me that I
- 2:04:18Speaker 2: did read this right, fight in Russia on their own
- 2:04:22Speaker 2: with Russian interest something like that's not gonna happen. That's
- 2:04:24Speaker 2: not gonna happen.
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: Like this's okay to go, you know with the Russian
- 2:04:30Speaker 1: that's funny. It turned around pretty quick.
- 2:04:32Speaker 2: But I'm thinking, like with what crowd like it just
- 2:04:35Speaker 2: doesn't draw. It's not going to draw over there like
- 2:04:37Speaker 2: you know it does another place.
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: It's just not. So they got their hands full over
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: there anyway.
- 2:04:42Speaker 2: Right right, don't go on. I don't see it. I
- 2:04:45Speaker 2: don't see yeah, I hear that.
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: Any other items that you want to talk about, or
- 2:04:51Speaker 1: we pretty much, uh pretty much get to everything, John.
- 2:04:54Speaker 2: I think we we pretty much got it all. We
- 2:04:57Speaker 2: just don't need to talk about it tonight, but we do.
- 2:05:00Speaker 2: You know, we are coming up on you know, the
- 2:05:02Speaker 2: heavyweight championship Dubois Ustik, which is too which is a
- 2:05:05Speaker 2: good fight.
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: So yes, I agree.
- 2:05:07Speaker 2: Again, we wish it would get the proper exposure, but
- 2:05:11Speaker 2: it is a good fight. And uh, you know, Usik's
- 2:05:14Speaker 2: probably a bigger favorite than I would have expected in
- 2:05:17Speaker 2: the rematch. Not saying he's not gonna win it, but right, yeah,
- 2:05:22Speaker 2: I do think it's a good fight.
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: Do you too? And the fact that Usik's still hanging
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: around giving us fights that just it's like thanks, man,
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: appreciate that, you know.
- 2:05:32Speaker 2: I mean, it's not like he's not giving a good fight, right,
- 2:05:34Speaker 2: So I am getting for where I'm like some people
- 2:05:38Speaker 2: like I'd like to like if he gets by this,
- 2:05:40Speaker 2: I'd like to see him get a good cash out
- 2:05:42Speaker 2: with like Jake Paul. I mean, see, I think that
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: damn sure.
- 2:05:45Speaker 1: Don't want to see the fiery fight. We already know
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: what happened, right.
- 2:05:47Speaker 2: We already know what happens. I mean, you let who sick,
- 2:05:50Speaker 2: you know, nearing forty years old, let it. Let him
- 2:05:54Speaker 2: get the easy payday with Jake Paul. Bads will be
- 2:05:56Speaker 2: happy seeing him get knocked out.
- 2:05:58Speaker 1: And if anybody in boxing earned this thing, you know,
- 2:06:01Speaker 1: and you know he's gonna have to go on who
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: you know, Jake Paul's home turf to where that Yeah,
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: a home turf guy, Like, no problem, I'll come to you.
- 2:06:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good it's actually kind of a good finish, exactly.
- 2:06:13Speaker 1: I'd be I'd be just fine with that. And Usa,
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: he's a funny guy too. He says a bunch of
- 2:06:20Speaker 1: funny stuff. He's lighthearted.
- 2:06:21Speaker 2: He's might not be a bad promote. Might not be
- 2:06:24Speaker 2: a bad promotion.
- 2:06:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, exactly, Yeah, because Usik has a way of
- 2:06:29Speaker 1: making you laugh. Uh, it's more on the low, it's
- 2:06:32Speaker 1: more goofy, But it might be a really good promotion.
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: All Right, that's a good call. That's a really good call.
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: I would love it. I would love if Hoosa got that.
- 2:06:40Speaker 1: Of course, he has some business before him and he's
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: got to watch out for the body punches. But I think,
- 2:06:46Speaker 1: you know, yeah, well we'll definitely talk about that in
- 2:06:49Speaker 1: the near future. But I appreciate you stopping on and uh,
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: you know, it's nice to uh catch back up with
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: you man, and you know, we'll hopefully we'll talk next week.
- 2:06:59Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, thanks Crape being with you. Zoey's all right,
- 2:07:02Speaker 2: take it easy, take care, all right.
- 2:07:08Speaker 1: So a little bit, let's see a little bit more
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: news wise. What what what are we going to talk
- 2:07:20Speaker 1: about here? I had a couple of things here. Oh,
- 2:07:25Speaker 1: you know, Jake Paul getting ranked and I told you
- 2:07:28Speaker 1: that was gonna happen. You know, I told you that
- 2:07:31Speaker 1: was gonna happen. The w B O was talking about
- 2:07:34Speaker 1: doing it. W b A did it.
- 2:07:36Speaker 2: Then they.
- 2:07:38Speaker 1: They're like, oh, wait, you're complaining about it. Hang on,
- 2:07:40Speaker 1: let me let me redo that. So they they ended
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: up saying that they're gonna they're gonna think it over,
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: you know what I mean, They're gonna think it over.
- 2:07:53Speaker 1: And they ended up, you know, not well I shouldn't
- 2:07:57Speaker 1: say they did. They ended up not doing it, but
- 2:07:59Speaker 1: they are going to, you know, they're gonna discuss it
- 2:08:03Speaker 1: and make sure they made the proper thing. And honestly,
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: like these sanctioning belts in rankings and all that, so
- 2:08:16Speaker 1: much of them, not all, but so much of them
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: are jokes anyway. So like, in the end, would it
- 2:08:24Speaker 1: be the worst thing if it could just to make
- 2:08:26Speaker 1: a fight happen now, the fight with Gilberto with that,
- 2:08:32Speaker 1: is that something he's eyeing, you know, Like I said,
- 2:08:35Speaker 1: I don't think so, you know, I don't think he's
- 2:08:37Speaker 1: eyeing that fight at all because I just think it's
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: way too much of a risk. But you know, whether
- 2:08:47Speaker 1: they freaking you know, whether they rank him or not,
- 2:08:53Speaker 1: I could care less. I'll be honest with you, I
- 2:08:56Speaker 1: really don't care if he's ranked or not. To me,
- 2:09:00Speaker 1: it just it doesn't It doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter.
- 2:09:06Speaker 1: But you know, I get it. People get pissed off
- 2:09:09Speaker 1: and they just don't like Jake Paul And you know,
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's the best thing that's happened to
- 2:09:17Speaker 1: the sport, you know, or something like that. But I
- 2:09:19Speaker 1: also I just don't think it's as bad as people
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: are talking about. But this is what Turkey tweeted not
- 2:09:26Speaker 1: all that long ago. I will be very upset if
- 2:09:28Speaker 1: Berlanga and Zippata knock out Sharaz and Shakur. We have
- 2:09:33Speaker 1: big plans for Sharaz and Shakur and the result would
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: be a complete disaster. So and right now, I see
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: Norman's right around like a plus one ten, plus one
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: twelve plus plus something against Devin Haney. I really like that.
- 2:09:54Speaker 1: But he did get ranked anyway, fourteenth. Jake Paul got
- 2:10:00Speaker 1: the fourteenth ranking, and then they said, hang on, maybe
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: we didn't mean that. I did see a headline on
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: East Side Boxing Boxing twenty four to seven saying a
- 2:10:13Speaker 1: massive ninety four thousand fans expected for Usik and du
- 2:10:17Speaker 1: Bois rematch at Wenley Stadium, So that's always good. I
- 2:10:21Speaker 1: saw Jerrell big Baby Miller called out Wilder. You know,
- 2:10:29Speaker 1: obviously that would be kind of interesting in a sense of,
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: you know, like where they're at in their careers, the
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: lead up would be interesting. Matt from brunch Boxing shouts
- 2:10:43Speaker 1: out to brunch boxing in general. He had a tweet
- 2:10:47Speaker 1: a quote tweet saying people complaining about Jake Paul being
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: ranked but can't name ten cruiserweights. That is a good point.
- 2:10:56Speaker 1: That is a good point, a very good point really,
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: as I saw people kind of miss uh mis representing
- 2:11:12Speaker 1: or misinterpretating uh interpretating Floyd Schofield. A lot of people
- 2:11:19Speaker 1: are running around saying he's tanks mandatory. Okay. Now I've
- 2:11:25Speaker 1: seen people like brunch Boxing and others get it right
- 2:11:29Speaker 1: saying he's the number one contender, but he until they
- 2:11:33Speaker 1: call that mother africas. I got a bunch of messages
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: after that happened. Until they call the mando, He's not
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: the mando, Remy says Schofield Senior, already calling Junior the
- 2:11:47Speaker 1: best boxer of all time off of that. Tevin Farmer, Yeah,
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: Jim Cross had a poll. So what level is Jake
- 2:11:57Speaker 1: Paul as a boxer? World level contender? Let a continental
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: level or domestic regional level? And I think most people
- 2:12:07Speaker 1: thought domestic regional level. That's kind of where I had him,
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: But I think he could make an argument for continental.
- 2:12:13Speaker 1: I think that would you know, be the highest you
- 2:12:17Speaker 1: know that I would put them. Also, two slicks said,
- 2:12:21Speaker 1: didn't they have like a guy ranked for a while
- 2:12:24Speaker 1: that was dead? I saw Naji had an interview with
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: Gary Gary Antoine Russell. He says a fight with him
- 2:12:32Speaker 1: and Kishon makes sense if he gets a few fights
- 2:12:35Speaker 1: at acclimate him to the wait. But he would welcome
- 2:12:40Speaker 1: the fight. And he's talking about Davis going to going
- 2:12:44Speaker 1: to one. I mean, I don't know about the few fights,
- 2:12:46Speaker 1: but like I mentioned, Gary Alsa Junior three and a
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: half years out of the ring, he is returning on
- 2:12:52Speaker 1: that undercard of the Pacquiao and then you know, here
- 2:12:56Speaker 1: we go again with Tyson. I'm looking forward to count
- 2:13:00Speaker 1: contemplating the idea of returning, taking it all on board.
- 2:13:05Speaker 1: I'll make a decision within the forthcoming a few months.
- 2:13:10Speaker 1: But then we also heard that there's plans for twenty
- 2:13:12Speaker 1: twenty six. April eighteenth. I saw Dan the boxing Man
- 2:13:18Speaker 1: Fury announces that he's returning April eighteenth, twenty twenty six
- 2:13:22Speaker 1: for a third USIK fight. Not I don't need to
- 2:13:24Speaker 1: see a third USIX fight. I just don't. I think
- 2:13:28Speaker 1: it's a waste. I just I think we've seen it.
- 2:13:34Speaker 1: I mean, you know, like, I think he's had his
- 2:13:38Speaker 1: chances and I'd much rather I mean, if you want
- 2:13:41Speaker 1: to come back and fight AJ, you know, cool, but eh,
- 2:13:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I also saw Carlos Lenarrez, Frank Martin,
- 2:13:51Speaker 1: and Rancis Bartholomew in discussion for the Roach Davis August eighteenth.
- 2:13:59Speaker 1: Frank you better, I don't know. I don't know. Man,
- 2:14:03Speaker 1: Good to see you back, but you better watch out
- 2:14:05Speaker 1: with that style matchup. I'll tell you that. I will
- 2:14:09Speaker 1: tell you that. Oh and then Chavas Junior got busted
- 2:14:15Speaker 1: by Ice and whether he's guilty of what they say
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: he was or not. I don't know. I haven't looked
- 2:14:24Speaker 1: deeply into it, just to be honest. But the funky
- 2:14:29Speaker 1: thing is why the fuck did they let him fight? Then?
- 2:14:33Speaker 1: You know, why do why do he fight? Then boxer
- 2:14:38Speaker 1: Red Gray Ice waiting to Chavis Junior to box Jake
- 2:14:42Speaker 1: Paul first before resting and started deportation. Uh process sums
- 2:14:47Speaker 1: up how unserious this country is currently. Yeah, because if
- 2:14:51Speaker 1: if you knew where he was, you know what I mean,
- 2:14:54Speaker 1: you knew where he was due, you knew where he was.
- 2:14:58Speaker 1: I mean, he was filing all the time, so they're
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: not all the time, but you know, you knew where
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: he was, you knew the gym, you know all that stuff.
- 2:15:06Speaker 1: So I don't know, but yeah, I did get a
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: couple mentions or not mentions, but messages about you know,
- 2:15:19Speaker 1: my thoughts on the I'm going through him right now,
- 2:15:21Speaker 1: the befall better be of and you know, I guess
- 2:15:26Speaker 1: it's pushed till early twenty twenty six. It's just it's disappointing.
- 2:15:35Speaker 1: It is disappointing. I gotta I gotta say that, because
- 2:15:39Speaker 1: you know, like, what's the point of not having the
- 2:15:44Speaker 1: Benevitas fight that that it's kind of weak. Oh and
- 2:15:50Speaker 1: then so on one hand, I like Rodriguez versus Martinez,
- 2:15:55Speaker 1: Fernando Fernando Puma, you know, and Bam, I like, I
- 2:16:01Speaker 1: like that fight a lot. I don't And if you're
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: gonna plan it, sorry, I got the hiccups. And if
- 2:16:07Speaker 1: you're gonna plan it, cool planet. But maybe I'm just
- 2:16:11Speaker 1: old school or whatever. I don't like announcing the fight
- 2:16:16Speaker 1: and putting it on like the Marquis. You know, I
- 2:16:21Speaker 1: remember when they did this the modru mov and Artis Like,
- 2:16:25Speaker 1: to me, I'm not a big fan of that. Now,
- 2:16:31Speaker 1: maybe Kafu doesn't show up and he gets beat easy.
- 2:16:34Speaker 1: I'm not saying I do think Baham wins that fight.
- 2:16:38Speaker 1: I think he wins it pretty clearly, But I just
- 2:16:40Speaker 1: I'm not I could you could say, hey, this is
- 2:16:43Speaker 1: what we're planning next for him, and like I said,
- 2:16:47Speaker 1: Martinez in him that's a great I like that fight
- 2:16:49Speaker 1: a lot, But to me, it's kind of like, don't
- 2:16:52Speaker 1: put him on the poster yet, you know, like you're
- 2:16:55Speaker 1: gonna have a press conference. I'm assuming he's not going
- 2:17:00Speaker 1: to the press conference, but you're gonna have a press
- 2:17:03Speaker 1: conference for the fight, you know, and you're gonna put
- 2:17:07Speaker 1: that on there. I don't know. Bo I saw this
- 2:17:10Speaker 1: per Sabatini box Boaschuck returned September thirteenth. The likely opponent
- 2:17:17Speaker 1: could be a rematch against Brandon Adams, who was doing
- 2:17:22Speaker 1: good in that fight until he wasn't. Somebody asked me,
- 2:17:27Speaker 1: what I think a Sky's stoppage, you know whatever, Like
- 2:17:32Speaker 1: she made the weight, She's more comfortable at a different weight,
- 2:17:35Speaker 1: I guess, But you know, it's like that shit didn't
- 2:17:45Speaker 1: have much resistance. She snapped her neck, you know, with
- 2:17:47Speaker 1: a good punch and all that. But I don't. I
- 2:17:49Speaker 1: just don't look into that much. To be honest with you,
- 2:17:52Speaker 1: I just I really don't. I don't think it's much.
- 2:17:54Speaker 1: We got to see more of her, Mike Coppinger. Someone
- 2:17:59Speaker 1: sent me this screenshot of saying Turkey tried to make
- 2:18:04Speaker 1: Benavidez bitval that's bullshit. He didn't try to make that fight.
- 2:18:09Speaker 1: I mean, if he did, he tried just barely. But
- 2:18:12Speaker 1: then he came out and said, I'm not you know,
- 2:18:15Speaker 1: I'm not bidden on that shit. So now maybe he
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: didn't like you know, how it went down or whatever,
- 2:18:24Speaker 1: like the belt thing and oh he's the man doo
- 2:18:28Speaker 1: and you know whatever we're calling that fight. Okay, you know,
- 2:18:31Speaker 1: to an extent, I get that part, but yeah, I
- 2:18:36Speaker 1: don't know, Jim Cross, what do we got here? What
- 2:18:42Speaker 1: do you say here? Fayez and Murphy was a classic
- 2:18:46Speaker 1: example of what you prefer exactly. Was it the work
- 2:18:49Speaker 1: rate of Murphy or the eye catching shots? Yeah, that's
- 2:18:52Speaker 1: a good way to put it. So, yeah, Turkey's really
- 2:18:58Speaker 1: stuck on this ring thing that shrinks as the fight
- 2:19:01Speaker 1: goes on. It just I don't know. Seventeen he box again.
- 2:19:10Speaker 1: You have Martaya and Cruz in negotiations to be on
- 2:19:15Speaker 1: a November card in Riot. So Lefty retweeted this thing.
- 2:19:25Speaker 1: If smaller rings made a difference, that top ranked card
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: two weeks ago would have had an all all war
- 2:19:30Speaker 1: and at least a knockout.
- 2:19:31Speaker 2: Yeah that shit exactly.
- 2:19:34Speaker 1: I did see Fury saying that Jake Paul and Anthony
- 2:19:37Speaker 1: Joshua was a fifty to fifty fight. He's trawling, dude,
- 2:19:42Speaker 1: He's drolling Berlanga though. He's very confident. I know for
- 2:19:46Speaker 1: a fact I'm going to be the biggest name in boxing,
- 2:19:49Speaker 1: and this dude literally said he's gonna go to heavyweight playoffs. Heavyweight,
- 2:19:58Speaker 1: this is what better be a Batbiev said, I received
- 2:20:03Speaker 1: hundreds of questions about the third fight. That's why I
- 2:20:06Speaker 1: decided to answer here. As you know, the first fight
- 2:20:10Speaker 1: for the Absolute Champion title, the Absolute I like how
- 2:20:14Speaker 1: he put that, took place in October last year. After
- 2:20:18Speaker 1: five years of attempts to unify the belts, blah blah blah.
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: It was still it was still successful. The day after
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: the first fight, we agreed on a rematch, which was
- 2:20:28Speaker 1: to take place within four months, despite the fact that
- 2:20:32Speaker 1: you know he had the operation. Ast coach and the
- 2:20:35Speaker 1: doctor were basically saying, don't do it, it's too early.
- 2:20:39Speaker 1: After the second fight, I immediately showed interest in an
- 2:20:42Speaker 1: early third fight in the and at first, you know,
- 2:20:46Speaker 1: there were the rumors about the fight in August, but
- 2:20:49Speaker 1: my opponent said in an interview that he wanted to
- 2:20:53Speaker 1: hold it until later autumn, then at the end of
- 2:20:57Speaker 1: the year, and now it's completely unknown. And he ends
- 2:21:01Speaker 1: by saying, how old do I have to be so
- 2:21:05Speaker 1: that we can fight for the third time. I just
- 2:21:08Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan of that. I saw this
- 2:21:11Speaker 1: on brunch Boxing Twitter follow them. Team USA came away
- 2:21:16Speaker 1: with three medals at the World Cup Boxing in Kazakhstan. Perez,
- 2:21:20Speaker 1: McCain and Gonzalez. That's a good that's a good look.
- 2:21:25Speaker 1: I don't see Berlanga at heavyweight. I mean he may
- 2:21:28Speaker 1: go up there, but I don't see I just think
- 2:21:33Speaker 1: he's hey. More power to him, but I think he's delusional. Oh.
- 2:21:39Speaker 1: By the way, Lester Martinez, like I mentioned before the
- 2:21:42Speaker 1: Pro Box main event, he is suffering from migraines. I
- 2:21:47Speaker 1: know this isn't the first time that that's happened. So
- 2:21:50Speaker 1: Jim Cross says, if I hadn't seen the Ottomus fight,
- 2:21:53Speaker 1: I'd be very confident that Cherez beats Berlanga at any right.
- 2:22:00Speaker 1: Think Sharaz has got the significantly better skills set of
- 2:22:03Speaker 1: the two. I'm still picking at Shias, but maybe less confident. Yeah,
- 2:22:08Speaker 1: I agree with that. I agree with that. Oh, Emily
- 2:22:16Speaker 1: had a tweet. We lost a fighter over the weekend.
- 2:22:18Speaker 1: Pedro Antonio Rodriguez passed away rip away in his hotel
- 2:22:22Speaker 1: room after the fight in our card in Arizona. Police
- 2:22:26Speaker 1: are investigating, but it appears to be unrelated to his fight,
- 2:22:28Speaker 1: but we are all heartbroken. So rest in peace there
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: So yeah, that card as it stits right now in
- 2:22:37Speaker 1: Saudi uh for November twenty second, Benevide's Yard, Haini, Norman
- 2:22:45Speaker 1: Abdulah Mason and Sam Noki Noakes Nokis, I can't remember
- 2:22:49Speaker 1: how to say his name. And then Rodriguez Martinez once again,
- 2:22:54Speaker 1: good card. You know, I wouldn't say it's not a
- 2:22:57Speaker 1: good card. You know, I'm not like that, you know,
- 2:23:00Speaker 1: but it's still like eh, so Adrian Delgado. When it
- 2:23:04Speaker 1: comes to Zippata, chakor interesting to see how Shakur handles Zippata.
- 2:23:08Speaker 1: He's a neutralizer who controls distance and temple, relying on accuracy,
- 2:23:12Speaker 1: timing and precision. On offense, Zipata's volume will also create
- 2:23:17Speaker 1: opening for Shakur to land effectively, although'll have to go
- 2:23:20Speaker 1: through the fire early. That's well broken down, per usual.
- 2:23:26Speaker 1: And then Berlanga, this is what I'm talking about. They
- 2:23:30Speaker 1: asked him why this is boxing news. Why he beats
- 2:23:35Speaker 1: Chiraz Berlanga super explosive IQ, great legs, great jab, great
- 2:23:41Speaker 1: head movement. He's not fucking with me. He doesn't stand
- 2:23:45Speaker 1: a chance. I'm telling you, it's levels to this ship.
- 2:23:47Speaker 1: And when you just repeat Mayweather lines, dude, Like that's
- 2:23:52Speaker 1: shit stupid. You know. At least like Browner had his
- 2:23:57Speaker 1: own lines. You know, anybody can get it, you know,
- 2:24:02Speaker 1: like he had his own ship. Dude. I never thought
- 2:24:06Speaker 1: he was anywhere near uh, you know, Mayweather. But at
- 2:24:12Speaker 1: least he had his own swag, dude. Berlanga doesn't have
- 2:24:14Speaker 1: his own swag. Dude. Maybe I'm just fucking old. Anyway,
- 2:24:20Speaker 1: I think that about wraps it up. I am excited
- 2:24:23Speaker 1: for this weekend though, Saturday night, well, Friday night, gonna
- 2:24:29Speaker 1: watch it with with a female because you know she's
- 2:24:33Speaker 1: into it. I mean both things there, but because you
- 2:24:38Speaker 1: know it's female's fighting.
- 2:24:39Speaker 2: And then.
- 2:24:42Speaker 1: And then I have some stuff going on for a while.
- 2:24:45Speaker 1: But I should be able to see live most of
- 2:24:50Speaker 1: the card, uh Saturday night too. Some of these cards
- 2:24:54Speaker 1: I'll watch late night or the next day or whatever
- 2:24:57Speaker 1: and just stay offline. But I'm looking for forward to it, man.
- 2:25:00Speaker 1: You know, I think I think those are some really
- 2:25:02Speaker 1: good fights. You know, David Morell, what's he gonna look
- 2:25:05Speaker 1: like against a power puncher? Does Mattias have enough in him?
- 2:25:10Speaker 1: Can Berlanga hurt Cherez? You know there's a there's a
- 2:25:14Speaker 1: lot going on. Obviously, Taylor and Serrana is the best
- 2:25:17Speaker 1: fight on paper. Anyway, I'm gonna get out of here,
- 2:25:20Speaker 1: enjoy the fights this weekend. Back next week.
