- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, December 24th.
- 0:11God with us. Have you ever had a season where
- 0:14nothing went according to plan? Where life felt messy,
- 0:17uncertain, and honestly unfair? That's the kind of moment the
- 0:20Christmas story steps into. Matthew chapter one verse 21
- 0:24says she will bear a son and you shall call his name Jesus, for
- 0:27he will save his people from their sins.
- 0:30Not he will make life easy, not he will make everything look
- 0:33perfect, He will save. That means he came for the real
- 0:37problem, the stuff inside us and around us that breaks
- 0:40everything. And then Luke chapter 2 verse 7
- 0:43says Mary gave birth to her first born son and wrapped him
- 0:47in swaddling clothes and laid him in a Manger because there
- 0:50was no place for them in the inn.
- 0:52The Savior of the world is born and there isn't even a room
- 0:55available. No soft landing, no comfort, no
- 0:59spotlight, just ordinary people in an uncomfortable place.
- 1:02And God shows up right there. Then the Angel says in Luke
- 1:05chapter 2 verse 10, fear not, for behold, I bring you good
- 1:09news of great joy that will be for all the people, not just for
- 1:12the powerful, not just for the religious, for all the people.
- 1:16And the first ones invited to witness it are shepherds,
- 1:19regular, overlooked, not impressive by the world
- 1:22standards. That's God's heart.
- 1:24He comes close to the ones who feel left out, stressed out and
- 1:27worn out. God with us means you are not
- 1:30alone in your confusion, not alone in your anxiety, not alone
- 1:34in your family tension, not alone in your secret struggles.
- 1:38Jesus didn't come to stay distant, He came to be near and
- 1:41to save you from sin, shame, and separation from God.
- 1:45That's why Christmas is more than a tradition, it's a rescue.
- 1:48Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 1:50sending Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us when life feels messy
- 1:54and unexpected. Help me trust that you are still
- 1:57near. Thank you that Jesus came to
- 1:59save me from my sins and to bring real joy that lasts.
- 2:02Let the good news of Jesus settle my heart, steady my mind
- 2:06and guide my steps today in Jesus name, Amen.

- 3:18with God in today's three-year Bible reading plan, Matthew 118
- 3:23to 25 World English Bible. Now the birth of Jesus Christ
- 3:28was like this. After his mother Mary was
- 3:30engaged to Joseph before they came together, she was found
- 3:33pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her husband, being a
- 3:37righteous man and not willing to make her a public example,
- 3:41intended to put her away secretly.
- 3:43But when he thought about these things, behold, an Angel of the
- 3:46Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David.
- 3:51Don't be afraid to take to yourself Mary as your wife, for
- 3:54that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
- 3:57She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it
- 4:00is he who shall save his people from their sins.
- 4:03Now all this has happened that it might be fulfilled, which was
- 4:06spoken by the Lord through the prophet saying, Behold, the
- 4:10virgin shall be with child and shall give birth to a son.
- 4:13They shall call his name a mantle which is being
- 4:16interpreted God with us. Joseph arose from his sleep and
- 4:20did as the Angel of the Lord commanded him and took his wife
- 4:23to himself, and didn't know her sexually until she had given
- 4:26birth to her first born son. He named him Jesus.
- 4:29Luke 21 to 20 World English Bible.
- 4:33Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that
- 4:36all the world should be enrolled.
- 4:38This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor
- 4:42of Syria. All went to enroll themselves,
- 4:44everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee
- 4:49out of the city of Nazareth into Judea to David's city, which is
- 4:52called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of
- 4:56David, to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be
- 4:59married to him as wife, being pregnant while they were there.
- 5:02The day had come for her to give birth.
- 5:05She gave birth to her first born son.
- 5:07She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding
- 5:10through because there was no room for them in the inn.
- 5:13There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field and
- 5:16keeping watch by night over their flock.
- 5:19Behold, an Angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of
- 5:22the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
- 5:25The Angel said to them, don't be afraid.
- 5:27For behold, I bring you good news of great joy, which will be
- 5:31to all the people, for there is born to you today in David's
- 5:34city a Savior who is Christ the Lord.
- 5:37This is the sign to you. You will find a baby wrapped in
- 5:39strips of cloth lying in a feeding through.
- 5:42Suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the
- 5:44heavenly army praising God and saying, Glory to God in the
- 5:48highest on earth, peace, goodwill toward men.
- 5:51When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherd
- 5:54said to one another, Let's go to Bethlehem now and see this thing
- 5:57that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.
- 6:01They came with haste and found both Mary and Joseph, and the
- 6:04baby was lying in the feeding through.
- 6:06When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying
- 6:09which was spoken to them about this child.
- 6:12All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them
- 6:14by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these sayings,
- 6:18pondering them in her heart. The shepherds returned,
- 6:21glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had
- 6:23heard and seen, just as it was told them.
