  God with us. Have you ever had a season where

  nothing went according to plan? Where life felt messy,

  uncertain, and honestly unfair? That's the kind of moment the

  Christmas story steps into. Matthew chapter one verse 21
• 0:24
  says she will bear a son and you shall call his name Jesus, for
• 0:27
  he will save his people from their sins.
• 0:30
  Not he will make life easy, not he will make everything look
• 0:33
  perfect, He will save. That means he came for the real
• 0:37
  problem, the stuff inside us and around us that breaks
• 0:40
  everything. And then Luke chapter 2 verse 7
• 0:43
  says Mary gave birth to her first born son and wrapped him
• 0:47
  in swaddling clothes and laid him in a Manger because there
• 0:50
  was no place for them in the inn.
• 0:52
  The Savior of the world is born and there isn't even a room
• 0:55
  available. No soft landing, no comfort, no
• 0:59
  spotlight, just ordinary people in an uncomfortable place.

  And God shows up right there. Then the Angel says in Luke
• 1:05
  chapter 2 verse 10, fear not, for behold, I bring you good
• 1:09
  news of great joy that will be for all the people, not just for
• 1:12
  the powerful, not just for the religious, for all the people.
• 1:16
  And the first ones invited to witness it are shepherds,
• 1:19
  regular, overlooked, not impressive by the world
• 1:22
  standards. That's God's heart.
• 1:24
  He comes close to the ones who feel left out, stressed out and
• 1:27
  worn out. God with us means you are not
• 1:30
  alone in your confusion, not alone in your anxiety, not alone
• 1:34
  in your family tension, not alone in your secret struggles.
• 1:38
  Jesus didn't come to stay distant, He came to be near and
• 1:41
  to save you from sin, shame, and separation from God.
• 1:45
  That's why Christmas is more than a tradition, it's a rescue.

  Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 1:50
  sending Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us when life feels messy
• 1:54
  and unexpected. Help me trust that you are still
• 1:57
  near. Thank you that Jesus came to
• 1:59
  save me from my sins and to bring real joy that lasts.

  Let the good news of Jesus settle my heart, steady my mind
• 2:06
  and guide my steps today in Jesus name, Amen.

  But when he thought about these things, behold, an Angel of the

  did as the Angel of the Lord commanded him and took his wife

  to himself, and didn't know her sexually until she had given

  birth to her first born son. He named him Jesus.

  out of the city of Nazareth into Judea to David's city, which is

  called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of

  David, to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be

  married to him as wife, being pregnant while they were there.

  The day had come for her to give birth.

  She gave birth to her first born son.

  She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding
• 5:10
  through because there was no room for them in the inn.

  There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field and

  keeping watch by night over their flock.

  Behold, an Angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of
• 5:22
  the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

  The Angel said to them, don't be afraid.

  For behold, I bring you good news of great joy, which will be

  to all the people, for there is born to you today in David's
• 5:34
  city a Savior who is Christ the Lord.

  This is the sign to you. You will find a baby wrapped in
• 5:39
  strips of cloth lying in a feeding through.

  Suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the
• 5:44
  heavenly army praising God and saying, Glory to God in the
• 5:48
  highest on earth, peace, goodwill toward men.

  When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherd
• 5:54
  said to one another, Let's go to Bethlehem now and see this thing
• 5:57
  that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.

  They came with haste and found both Mary and Joseph, and the
• 6:04
  baby was lying in the feeding through.
• 6:06
  When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying
• 6:09
  which was spoken to them about this child.
• 6:12
  All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them
• 6:14
  by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these sayings,
• 6:18
  pondering them in her heart. The shepherds returned,
• 6:21
  glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had
• 6:23
  heard and seen, just as it was told them.
