- 0:02The football season's over.
- 0:04The open is around the corner.
- 0:06Let's go.
- 0:18I love the chase and the hunt,
- 0:19and I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:21I always take what I want,
- 0:22and I always give it one hundred.
- 0:24Don't need a bank, no one funded.
- 0:26Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:27I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:29Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:30Now wake up!
- 0:32It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:34Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:36friend to me.
- 0:37It's not working out,
- 0:38maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:39It's time to break up so I can
- 0:41make a better me.
- 0:42Eeeeee!
- 0:42Abadabada!
- 0:48it's lunch time what is going on everybody
- 0:51welcome to lunch with the Clydesdale after
- 0:54a weekend of football and frivolity we're
- 0:57back doing our thing uh so it's crazy
- 1:02day here we are actually in Ohio going
- 1:05to be above freezing for the first time
- 1:08in two weeks today and tomorrow it's
- 1:11supposed to get in the
- 1:14We may actually,
- 1:17actually get some snow to melt for the
- 1:20first time in a couple weeks.
- 1:23I could not be more excited about that.
- 1:29It has been so dang cold and taking
- 1:31the dog out has been rough the last
- 1:34couple weeks.
- 1:36So hoping I get a little bit of
- 1:39relief from that in the next couple days.
- 1:41As Andrew Sten says from the southern part
- 1:45of Ohio in Cincinnati, shorts weather.
- 1:49I actually went out today to get the
- 1:50garbage, um,
- 1:52the can after it was dumped and went
- 1:56out in my t-shirt and didn't like freeze
- 1:59to death,
- 1:59just walking down to the end of my
- 2:01driveway and pulling it up.
- 2:03Uh, and it was,
- 2:05it just hit about freezing today.
- 2:07So, uh,
- 2:12Amanda Fillers,
- 2:13I need to send you the video I
- 2:15posted yesterday of the Bay over here.
- 2:16Our feel like temp on Saturday was
- 2:18negative twelve.
- 2:20Oh, so, so bad.
- 2:25Arlene Smith says way too cold in New
- 2:27Hampshire.
- 2:28Yeah.
- 2:32uh corey taking the dog out has been
- 2:34rough i see what you did there yep
- 2:37i'm dude i i fall into that stuff
- 2:39by accident all the time i have no
- 2:41idea what i'm saying most of the time
- 2:44um but yeah so we're just so thankful
- 2:48that we're actually going to get a break
- 2:49from all of this uh what do i
- 2:52want to talk about today
- 2:54Watched Super Bowl.
- 2:57It was really a defensive game.
- 2:59You had to appreciate defense to
- 3:00appreciate the game, I think.
- 3:03Not really like a juggernaut of offense,
- 3:05which is what usually draws in the fans.
- 3:07So I'm not anticipating the ratings for
- 3:10this year's Super Bowl to be real good.
- 3:13But at the end of the day,
- 3:16my prediction was that Seattle was going
- 3:18to win and win big.
- 3:19Yeah.
- 3:21I thought the NFC route to the Super
- 3:23Bowl was much harder than the AFC route.
- 3:28And it proved to be true last night.
- 3:30That Seattle defense was just incredible.
- 3:35Incredible.
- 3:35What they did to the Patriots was
- 3:37incredible.
- 3:40And so I put a couple bets on
- 3:44the game just to make it a little
- 3:45more exciting.
- 3:46I did bet that there would be more
- 3:47than six sacks in the game.
- 3:50Won that bet.
- 3:52I bet that Drake May would rush for
- 3:54more than thirty five yards.
- 3:56He did that.
- 3:58And then the other three I lost.
- 4:00So didn't even break even,
- 4:02but it gave me something to root for
- 4:04during the game.
- 4:06Especially rooting for sacks.
- 4:07I was rooting for sacks.
- 4:10And I got a lot of those.
- 4:11So that's cool.
- 4:17Mark Phillips says,
- 4:18I made it to the halftime show and
- 4:19it made me realize I'd had enough.
- 4:22So this is what I want to say
- 4:23about the halftime show.
- 4:25the halftime shows are not for me.
- 4:27I am a fifty-year-old male.
- 4:29I am not the demographic that the Super
- 4:31Bowl halftime show is looking for.
- 4:33They are looking for globalization.
- 4:36It's obvious when next year we have nine
- 4:39games being played outside of the country
- 4:42to attract more people from around the
- 4:44world.
- 4:46And
- 4:47And I'm old.
- 4:50When I was twenty-some years old,
- 4:51I wanted my generation of artists to play
- 4:55the Super Bowl.
- 4:56And so I would expect the same now.
- 5:01I am not the generation that the Super
- 5:03Bowl halftime is looking for.
- 5:06With that being said, I watched Bad Bunny.
- 5:10I thought that the show itself was
- 5:13actually pretty good.
- 5:15They filled the stadium,
- 5:17which is what a lot of artists miss
- 5:19at the Super Bowl.
- 5:19You have to fill that stadium,
- 5:21whether it be tree people or whatever.
- 5:23It filled the stadium,
- 5:25and it felt like a street party.
- 5:27if you've ever seen the movie, um,
- 5:30in the Heights,
- 5:31it reminded me of that a lot.
- 5:33Um,
- 5:34like kind of a musical feel to this,
- 5:37um, this thing.
- 5:40And, uh,
- 5:43so i thought they did a great good
- 5:44job with that i know a lot of
- 5:46people that i work with i know a
- 5:48lot of people at crossfit gyms that i've
- 5:50gone to around the world who love bad
- 5:51bunny they are he is their favorite artist
- 5:54in the world so that's who they're
- 5:56speaking to they're not speaking to me and
- 5:59i thought they did a good job capturing
- 6:02like the street party um
- 6:07in like the Puerto Rican area of New
- 6:09York or like Jay Burch is saying Mardi
- 6:12Gras or in Puerto Rico,
- 6:14I'm sure that those are the things that
- 6:15happen.
- 6:16And I thought that they captured that
- 6:18very, very well.
- 6:19I did last night watch the Turning Point
- 6:22halftime show.
- 6:23I actually thought that was boring,
- 6:25but I am not a country music fan.
- 6:27So I knew none of the lyrics to
- 6:29even any of those songs.
- 6:31So, and again,
- 6:33I don't know if they're trying to talk
- 6:34to me,
- 6:34but I do not listen to country.
- 6:38I probably listen to more Latin music than
- 6:40I do country.
- 6:44So there it is.
- 6:46It is what it is.
- 6:47There are plenty of options available.
- 6:50Back in my day,
- 6:51I remember when In Living Color,
- 6:53the comedy sketch show,
- 6:54did an alternative Super Bowl show because
- 6:57the main Super Bowl show had gotten so
- 6:59boring.
- 7:00And I would always tune in to the
- 7:02In Living Color Super Bowl halftime show
- 7:05instead of the main one.
- 7:07That, to me, they were funny.
- 7:10They were relevant.
- 7:11They were topical.
- 7:12It was hilarious.
- 7:15And it's just a fifteen-minute break.
- 7:18And most of the time,
- 7:19I'm so into the football and so into
- 7:20the commercials that I don't pee.
- 7:23I don't eat.
- 7:24And so,
- 7:25if I'm not a big fan of the
- 7:26halftime show,
- 7:27it actually gives me a time to do
- 7:29all of that stuff.
- 7:31Uh...
- 7:32So, yeah, that's my point.
- 7:33Again,
- 7:34my criticism doesn't matter to this
- 7:36because I'm not the audience they're
- 7:38looking for.
- 7:39In fact, if I did like it,
- 7:41it's probably not getting the audience
- 7:43they want.
- 7:46Eddie Van Halen died,
- 7:47or I'd want him to be playing the
- 7:49halftime show every year.
- 7:51So, yeah.
- 7:55Jay Burch,
- 7:57they're not playing to the old man yelling
- 7:58in the front yard.
- 7:59Exactly.
- 7:59Exactly.
- 8:00That is me,
- 8:02and they are not trying to get me
- 8:05excited.
- 8:07The last halftime show that I got super
- 8:09pumped for was the nineties hip hop with
- 8:13Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Fifty Cent.
- 8:20I think Mary J.
- 8:20Blige was on that one.
- 8:23So that was a great one.
- 8:26And I like people who fill the stadium.
- 8:29And like Katy Perry filled the stadium
- 8:32with her show.
- 8:33And then we had the Left Shark fiasco,
- 8:35which was phenomenal.
- 8:38And I think that's the one...
- 8:44missy elliott came in on one of them
- 8:46and it was either beyonce or katie perry
- 8:50and that part was awesome missy elliott
- 8:51was a surprise and she killed it um
- 8:55and jay birch has prince prince is like
- 8:57the all-time but i said it last week
- 9:00on the show i have mixed feelings because
- 9:03the year prince did the halftime show the
- 9:04bears were in the super bowl and they
- 9:06ended up losing
- 9:08So while I had this high of Prince
- 9:10doing the halftime show,
- 9:11I had this big loss of the Bears
- 9:14losing the Super Bowl that year.
- 9:15So that was a tough one for me.
- 9:20So.
- 9:21Those are my thoughts on that.
- 9:22I thought the Super Bowl commercials were
- 9:24better than they've been in years past in
- 9:27some regards and in other regards,
- 9:30not much.
- 9:31But a couple that I wrote down were
- 9:34I love the Ben Stiller one with Benson
- 9:36Boone with his jealousy and trying to do
- 9:39the backflip.
- 9:39I thought that was hilarious.
- 9:42I love the Budweiser one with the bird
- 9:45riding on the back of the Clydesdale
- 9:48because we are the Clydesdale.
- 9:53And I like the pop culture references of
- 9:56the Duncan ad that Mark Phillips is
- 9:58bringing up.
- 10:00I just thought it was funny from the
- 10:01perspective of Good Will Hunting as a
- 10:03sitcom and all the different sitcom actors
- 10:08from the eighties and nineties.
- 10:10I just liked it from a nostalgia point
- 10:12of view.
- 10:12So, yeah.
- 10:17But really, I thought the Benson Boone,
- 10:21Ben Stiller one was the funniest.
- 10:26And then the Budweiser one was the
- 10:27coolest.
- 10:28And then the Duncan one was cool for
- 10:30nostalgia.
- 10:33Wayne Shore,
- 10:34Mike Tyson's anti-processed food.
- 10:36I thought that was interesting.
- 10:39Yeah, with the whole pyramid flip,
- 10:40and that was actually run by Make America
- 10:44Healthy Again.
- 10:46But I thought that was a very interesting
- 10:49way to get the word out about that
- 10:54and the whole pyramid flip.
- 10:56So, yeah,
- 10:57I did appreciate that a great deal.
- 11:04What else happened this weekend?
- 11:05Lindsey Vonn.
- 11:07Lindsey Vonn tried to make her comeback.
- 11:08It did not go well.
- 11:11It was everything that I was afraid would
- 11:13happen.
- 11:14And again, I'm a big Lindsey Vonn fan.
- 11:16I wanted her to succeed.
- 11:18I wanted her to overcome that.
- 11:20But it sounds like she severely fractured
- 11:22her leg in an accident where she crashed
- 11:26only fifteen seconds out of the gate.
- 11:29She was airlifted off the mountain,
- 11:32taken to...
- 11:35to one hospital and then driven two hours
- 11:37to another hospital where they performed
- 11:39the surgery uh word is that there were
- 11:42it required two separate surgeries to
- 11:45repair the leg um and they're just waiting
- 11:48for a statement on what all that means
- 11:51but um Lindsey crashing was uh pretty
- 11:55devastating
- 11:57Uh,
- 11:57she has a couple of good trial runs,
- 11:59but man,
- 12:00when you trial runs are not the race.
- 12:03And when you get to the race athletes,
- 12:05mine clicks to a different thing and
- 12:09immediately should try to engage that leg.
- 12:10And it just would not, um,
- 12:15It just would not engage.
- 12:16There was nothing there to hold up.
- 12:21Jay Burch said he heard she broke it.
- 12:24Yeah, she broke it,
- 12:26and it took at least two surgeries to
- 12:30repair it.
- 12:37SEMA says that game was fourteen thirteen
- 12:39without field goals might as well have
- 12:41been a soccer game.
- 12:42Well,
- 12:42you can't take the field goals out because
- 12:44they did have to march down the field
- 12:46to get in position to kick them.
- 12:49It was a defensive game and the defenses
- 12:52showed the Seattle defense.
- 12:54Both defenses were awesome.
- 12:56They were awesome.
- 12:58Christian Gonzalez for the Patriots made
- 13:00plays that most people couldn't.
- 13:03And the Seattle defense,
- 13:05they were just coming from everywhere.
- 13:08It was a different person on every play.
- 13:10It was crazy.
- 13:17Andrew said,
- 13:18they say the wreck was not due to
- 13:19the knee.
- 13:19She clipped a gate racing on the edge.
- 13:22I would argue that clipping the gate,
- 13:24she then had to engage her legs for
- 13:26balance,
- 13:27and that's where she lost it and went
- 13:29into a spin.
- 13:31But they're going to say whatever they're
- 13:33going to say.
- 13:37They're probably protecting her,
- 13:39but that is what it is.
- 13:46Okay.

- 14:48off your order.
- 14:50So.
- 14:56So WFP.
- 14:59I had one thing on here that I
- 15:00want to talk about.
- 15:01And then I started watching the Rich
- 15:03Froning podcast right before I came on
- 15:06here.
- 15:07And then the anger and the angst and
- 15:10the smear campaign side of me started to
- 15:15boil up inside when I heard them,
- 15:20what they were talking about.
- 15:23So the question was posed to Will right
- 15:25off the bat.
- 15:26Why do people hate you?
- 15:30And let me be clear.
- 15:33I have been critical of the WFP.
- 15:36I don't hate Will.
- 15:39I don't hate the WFP.
- 15:42If you go back a year from now,
- 15:45I had said I wanted them to succeed
- 15:48so that we could see what a season
- 15:50would look like in this fitness
- 15:52competition.
- 15:54Being critical of what they're doing does
- 15:58not mean that I hate them.
- 16:04But I can be critical at the same
- 16:06time.
- 16:07I can look at what they've done and
- 16:10I can say you've not done what you
- 16:11said you were going to do.
- 16:16And the most frustrating part of this
- 16:17podcast is,
- 16:19and I have to give Austin Maliolo all
- 16:21the credit, and I am not through it.
- 16:23In all transparency, let me look.
- 16:26I'm just under a half.
- 16:30No,
- 16:32right about halfway through the podcast.
- 16:36I have to give credit to Austin Maliolo.
- 16:38He actually gave good follow-up questions
- 16:44to hold Will accountable for an answer.
- 16:47And this is what,
- 16:48and he kept saying like,
- 16:50isn't the only true way to kind of
- 16:52come together
- 16:54and work together and wouldn't the ideal
- 16:57place be to have be able to say
- 16:59crossfit get a deal with crossfit where
- 17:02you can call it what it is instead
- 17:05of a fitness competition to do these
- 17:07things and will said well it's not a
- 17:09perfect and he kept trying to avoid the
- 17:11question and austin kept pressing him
- 17:15And the point is that Austin was trying
- 17:18to get him to say the best way
- 17:20forward was to unite together and come up
- 17:26with a plan with all of these entities
- 17:29in the space, not just CrossFit and WFP,
- 17:32but also with Rogue and Wadapalooza and
- 17:36all of that kind of stuff.
- 17:40What I will say in addition to that
- 17:41is every time they talk to Unity,
- 17:46Will turned it into an independent thought
- 17:50that WFP already does it that way and
- 17:52he can't control everybody else.
- 17:54Or that that is the plan of WFP
- 17:58or blah, blah, blah, right?
- 18:02And even though that Austin was trying to
- 18:03press him into saying more,
- 18:05he just kept avoiding it or kept going
- 18:09down a path where they are separate.
- 18:13it became abundantly clear to me and what
- 18:15I've watched so far that Will has no
- 18:18intentions in working with any of these
- 18:21other entities to come together and create
- 18:27a season that works for the athletes so
- 18:30that they can do everything.
- 18:34And to me, that is so frustrating.
- 18:39So frustrating.
- 18:40And to keep saying like the hate,
- 18:42the hate, the hate.
- 18:44Nobody hates.
- 18:46It's that they're critical.
- 18:47You came out and you promised all of
- 18:49these things that were going to be better.
- 18:53You and then to all these things that
- 18:56were going to be better and then not
- 18:57to fulfill any of the promises.
- 19:00All you did was the exact same thing
- 19:02that's been done for years and you just
- 19:04packaged it in a different way and came
- 19:07out.
- 19:07You didn't do anything different.
- 19:16None of the questions he asked were new.
- 19:18I don't know why he doesn't have better
- 19:20answers by now.
- 19:23I don't disagree.
- 19:25But I think for the first time,
- 19:28I mean, I know, like,
- 19:29Pedro has pushed on some things.
- 19:33But he never gets pushed by Talking Elite
- 19:35Fitness because they work for him.
- 19:39Austin...
- 19:40And Rich wasn't pushing on him either.
- 19:43And Austin stepped in and said, wait,
- 19:45wait, wait,
- 19:46we need to get this piece down.
- 19:48And he did push him on it.
- 19:53And so... I...
- 19:58I don't know why he doesn't have a
- 19:59better answer, Mark.
- 20:01You would think after all this time,
- 20:04he would have a better answer.
- 20:05But you would have thought that after the
- 20:07mistakes made last year,
- 20:08they would make those corrections before
- 20:10going into this year.
- 20:11And they didn't do that either.
- 20:14They're repeating the same mistakes they
- 20:15made last year.
- 20:18And at what point as an athlete do
- 20:20you have confidence that you're going to
- 20:23do it
- 20:24better for me and what my career needs.
- 20:35David Reed,
- 20:35Will has an ax to grind against CrossFit.
- 20:37Unsure who hurt him there.
- 20:40I don't know.
- 20:44Do you think Will has any true say
- 20:46over that?
- 20:49By what means do you mean, Ortega?
- 20:51Ortega?
- 20:58Well, to WFP's defense,
- 21:00they're offering close to a salary-type
- 21:02paycheck where the other comps don't.
- 21:09But they're not ensuring success for the
- 21:12athletes.
- 21:13And they talked, like Rich talked about,
- 21:17that he was an athlete that trained all
- 21:19year round,
- 21:19so he was ready to compete at a
- 21:21given notice.
- 21:22But he also didn't care about the
- 21:23longevity of his career.
- 21:27He only competed individually for five
- 21:29years.
- 21:30A lot of these athletes are looking at
- 21:32trying to compete for much longer than
- 21:34five years,
- 21:35and their bodies can't take the wear and
- 21:37tear of a season like we had last
- 21:39year.
- 21:42So the WFP,
- 21:44after seeing that there was resistance to
- 21:46the way the season was done,
- 21:49didn't really change anything to their
- 21:51structure this season to make sure it was
- 21:54out of the season or worked in congruent
- 21:57with the season.
- 22:01That's the part that WFP could control,
- 22:07but they didn't.
- 22:14Wayne Short,
- 22:14it's clear that unity is the last thing
- 22:16they want.
- 22:27It's the same with soccer leagues compared
- 22:29to the World Cup.
- 22:33So, Frida,
- 22:34I'm not familiar with soccer in Europe
- 22:36other than what I watch on...
- 22:43Oh, that show,
- 22:44the soccer show I watch that Ryan Reynolds
- 22:47owns the team.
- 22:49Everything I learned about European soccer
- 22:51I've learned on that show.
- 22:52Wrexham.
- 22:53Welcome to Wrexham.
- 22:55Everything I've learned about European
- 22:57soccer is about that.
- 22:59And I'm much more knowledgeable than I was
- 23:01a few years ago,
- 23:02but I'm not knowledgeable enough to get
- 23:04that comparison.
- 23:08Yeah.
- 23:13What I will say is like the NHL
- 23:16has a season and they have paid athletes
- 23:19that they're investing in for that season.
- 23:22And somehow they have worked with the
- 23:25Olympics to allow their players to go play
- 23:28at the Olympics and take a break from
- 23:30their season while that is happening.
- 23:34So it can be done.
- 23:36You can coordinate two different entities
- 23:41into one thing if you coordinate it well.
- 23:47If that makes sense.
- 23:53Yeah, they get paid by the clubs,
- 23:54not the tournament.
- 23:55Very much like the Olympic team, right?
- 23:57So USA hockey, Canadian hockey,
- 24:01even all the other.
- 24:03I mean,
- 24:03the NHL is made up of players from
- 24:05all over the world.
- 24:06Their teams pay their salary.
- 24:08They give them a break to go pay
- 24:10in the Olympics, play in the Olympics,
- 24:13and they're still under contract and being
- 24:14paid by the teams.
- 24:19Now,
- 24:19the NHL does that because they see that
- 24:21international growth for their league is
- 24:23important to have their stars go play on
- 24:27the Olympic stage.
- 24:33Somebody in all these entities needs to
- 24:36say that it's better for our leagues
- 24:41together to come together and work
- 24:43together to get more exposure around the
- 24:46world for these athletes and find a way
- 24:49to work together so that we get more
- 24:53exposure and growth throughout the world.
- 25:00But that's not happening right now.
- 25:02And after what I saw,
- 25:04I'm not super optimistic to think that it
- 25:07is going to happen.
- 25:11Now,
- 25:11the one thing that Will did say that
- 25:15I did fully agree with,
- 25:16and I've said on here before,
- 25:19is that
- 25:21He talked to a lot of the athletes
- 25:23that decided not to do WFP this year.
- 25:25And if they have a shot to win
- 25:27the CrossFit Games,
- 25:28it does make more sense for them to
- 25:30try to win the big prize at the
- 25:32end of the CrossFit Games season.
- 25:34They will make more money doing that than
- 25:36they will in the WFP season.
- 25:39But if you're not in contention for that
- 25:41win...
- 25:44Why wouldn't you take the opportunity to
- 25:45make some money, get some exposure,
- 25:48get some practice,
- 25:50get some competition stuff going,
- 25:53all of that stuff?
- 25:55You should.
- 25:57Like,
- 25:57if you're Sidney McAlishan or you're Chris
- 26:01Ibarra and your chances of winning the
- 26:03games are not like a Jason Hopper or
- 26:06a James Sprague,
- 26:07why wouldn't you go take the money,
- 26:09especially with all the people dropping
- 26:11out?
- 26:12You've moved up that money list pretty
- 26:15high.
- 26:20And then you can get some experience in
- 26:23live competitions.
- 26:24You get to support your season.
- 26:27You get to go do all the things
- 26:29and it, and it makes sense, right?
- 26:33And Craig's listening, Hannah Black.
- 26:34There's a lot.
- 26:35There's a lot that fit into what I
- 26:37just said.
- 26:37I just was giving a couple examples.
- 26:40But if you're not top five on the
- 26:44women's side or top eight on the men's
- 26:46side,
- 26:47your chances of winning the games are not
- 26:49great.
- 26:51And you should go take the money and
- 26:55let them fund your season.
- 27:11I don't know what you're talking to
- 27:13specifically here.
- 27:15They don't need to, though.
- 27:16Companies need competition to grow.
- 27:18So it's not a bad idea to have
- 27:19a company that competes against CrossFit.
- 27:21Maybe CrossFit will level up some more.
- 27:24I don't disagree.
- 27:25I think the WFP coming into play has
- 27:27improved CrossFit immensely.
- 27:32I don't think CrossFit would ever admit
- 27:34it.
- 27:35But I do believe that what they have
- 27:38done...
- 27:39Over the last year,
- 27:40by implementing some changes,
- 27:42by getting athletes more involved in the
- 27:45offseason,
- 27:46all of those things came because WFP
- 27:49pushed them.
- 27:51The media company being back up and
- 27:53running, you know, it's not perfect,
- 27:56but it's better than it was.
- 27:58And all of that happened after WFP came
- 28:00along.
- 28:01Competition is good.
- 28:02And if you've been listening to this show,
- 28:04I've said that a million times.
- 28:07The XFL didn't survive,
- 28:09but it brought so many innovations to the
- 28:11NFL because the NFL had to step up
- 28:14their game and they saw things the XFL
- 28:16were doing that actually made sense and
- 28:19they implemented them into their rules.
- 28:23So I do believe there was a push.
- 28:26I do believe you can do some innovative
- 28:28stuff.
- 28:31I do think some of the innovations that
- 28:33WFP have done are better than what
- 28:35CrossFit does.
- 28:38Having the rep counters up on the rig
- 28:40are, if you're at a live event,
- 28:42that is like game-changing.
- 28:45I think the lighting for the green go
- 28:49and the red for when the clock expires
- 28:52and the yellow when you have ten seconds
- 28:54to go tells the whole crowd where we're
- 28:56at in the race.
- 28:58I think those things are awesome.
- 29:02And I'm sure they've done some other
- 29:03things too,
- 29:04and we've talked about them over the year.
- 29:07I'm not hating on WFP,
- 29:09but they need to be aware that they
- 29:11didn't do things perfectly last year,
- 29:14and there's room for improvement,
- 29:15and they should make strides towards that
- 29:18improvement.
- 29:19But so far,
- 29:21the pieces and parts we've gotten from
- 29:23them have not shown a change in what
- 29:27they are doing.
- 29:31And where I come from this, too,
- 29:34is I've talked to people who worked with
- 29:36WFP last year,
- 29:38were asked for their feedback,
- 29:40and if they gave negative feedback,
- 29:42were not asked back.
- 29:44Now,
- 29:45I don't know if that changed because that
- 29:46was towards the beginning of last season.
- 29:50I don't know if that ever changed.
- 29:52But if that's the case,
- 29:53that's why you're not getting better.
- 29:56If you're not willing to take that
- 29:57negative criticism and learn from it and
- 30:02take the input of the people that are
- 30:03there on the inside with you,
- 30:06then you're never going to grow.
- 30:13So I don't hate them,
- 30:17but I can be critical of what they've
- 30:19done.
- 30:21Because they're not improving on what they
- 30:24did last year.
- 30:26And they're not fulfilling the promises
- 30:29they had from the get-go.
- 30:35They promised all this stuff.
- 30:37They never delivered on those things.
- 30:42So I just... I don't know.
- 30:48Well, another thing that got me fired up,
- 30:50I was watching the Super Bowl last night.
- 30:56And there was a commercial on by Ring
- 31:03Doorbell.
- 31:05And in it, they're saying, you know,
- 31:06we used to look for lost dogs this
- 31:09way.
- 31:09And they show like a poster,
- 31:11like Barney lost, you know, Fido lost,
- 31:16Walter lost.
- 31:17And they show a picture of the dog
- 31:18on a light pole or a street light
- 31:21or phone pole or whatever.
- 31:25And then they said,
- 31:25now we have a new way and that
- 31:28they can connect all the ring doorbell
- 31:30cameras in your neighborhood to help find
- 31:33a dog.
- 31:36And I was like, wait a second.
- 31:41Who has access to all the ring doorbell
- 31:45cameras in my neighborhood?
- 31:48Who gets to use this and find a
- 31:51dog?
- 31:55I think we're taking a step past finding
- 31:58a dog if people have access to all
- 32:01the cameras at once and connect them into
- 32:03a neighborhood.
- 32:06Aren't we like...
- 32:10Aren't we like just a step away from
- 32:12Big Brother?
- 32:15Am I being too paranoid?
- 32:20I find that like really invasive.
- 32:26And Vicky's telling me,
- 32:27because I don't have a Ring doorbell.
- 32:29I do have a doorbell camera,
- 32:30but it's not Ring.
- 32:32Yeah,
- 32:32there's a community thing on Ring that you
- 32:33can opt into,
- 32:35but you have to opt into it.
- 32:41But if all my neighbors' cameras are
- 32:43facing my house and my front yard and
- 32:47my stuff, like, dang.
- 32:52That just seems really,
- 32:54really creepy to me.
- 33:00I guess I should have expected that people
- 33:04would look at it and their camera's facing
- 33:06my house.
- 33:06It's on their camera.
- 33:11It just baffles my mind.
- 33:13I was really taken aback by it.
- 33:15And it's presented as finding your dog,
- 33:17but it could do a whole lot more
- 33:20than that.
- 33:25Andrew Sten,
- 33:25the fact the option is there is scary.
- 33:30I didn't know it was an option.
- 33:31I guess I'm behind the times.
- 33:34But when I saw that, my wife,
- 33:37I freaked the hell out.
- 33:46Andrew Sten, just like they said,
- 33:47your phone isn't listening to you or Alexa
- 33:50isn't listening to you.
- 33:51Right.
- 33:51I agree.
- 33:55Frida, it should be illegal.
- 33:57Yeah, it's like voyeuristic.
- 34:03I know like I get it for the
- 34:05safety thing.
- 34:06I know I get it.
- 34:07I get it.
- 34:07So you like aren't robbed.
- 34:11But man,
- 34:12it just seems like a step too far.
- 34:15A step too far.
- 34:22Anderson wouldn't surprise me if the
- 34:24government already can access home
- 34:25security systems.
- 34:28All I could think of is if you
- 34:30ever watched the show person of interest,
- 34:33that there was this one central computer
- 34:37that could tap into every electronic
- 34:39device in the world and could download the
- 34:43data and analyze it and spit out blah.
- 34:46Like, is it real?
- 34:57Um, Vicky says,
- 34:59I like it from a security perspective
- 35:01because you can share an instance on your
- 35:03camera.
- 35:03If something is sketchy or a break in,
- 35:06et cetera.
- 35:07So you can anticipate if you're in danger.
- 35:10Um, yeah, I,
- 35:13I get it from the safety perspective,
- 35:15but that's how, like,
- 35:16if you watch the show person of interest,
- 35:18that's how they sold it to them that
- 35:20we're going to keep you safe.
- 35:22But you know,
- 35:24the next step is not good.
- 35:28Like, the safety part makes sense,
- 35:30and that gets your buy-in,
- 35:32but the next step ain't great.
- 35:40Mark Phillips says, that was a good show.
- 35:42Andrew Sten, great show, scary concept.
- 35:50Amanda,
- 35:50think about the robot vacuums that map out
- 35:52your floor plan and where that is stored.
- 35:58And now they have lawnmowers that map out
- 36:00your yard.
- 36:08Yeah, I guess it all started with Alexa.
- 36:11It moved on to Google Home.
- 36:13It moved on.
- 36:16Now we're doing ring doorbell cameras.
- 36:18Yeah.
- 36:23So, so crazy.
- 36:24Crazy.
- 36:30Amanda.
- 36:30Hey, I'd get me one of those lawnmowers.
- 36:33They have them.
- 36:34They're battery operated.
- 36:35They map out your lawn.
- 36:37It looks like it's like a lawnmower with
- 36:40no handle.
- 36:41You just set it out there and it'll
- 36:43mow down your whole lawn.
- 36:48Just like a Roomba for the lawn.
- 36:53So, so crazy.
- 36:56Anyway, I'm going to leave you with this.
- 36:58Um,
- 37:00I finished Pluribus over the weekend.
- 37:07That show was freaking awesome.
- 37:09At first, when I was watching it,
- 37:11it was a little crazy.
- 37:12It was a little wacky.
- 37:14I didn't know if I was going to
- 37:15like it,
- 37:16but it's by the same guy who wrote
- 37:18and directed Breaking Bad.
- 37:21Nothing like Breaking Bad.
- 37:23Nothing like Breaking Bad.
- 37:27But it is a freaking phenomenal show.
- 37:31I had three episodes to go Friday night.
- 37:33My wife had a thing to go to
- 37:35and I binged the last three episodes.
- 37:38The only criticism I have of the show
- 37:41is the season ends at the climax of
- 37:44the story.
- 37:46And so right at the end of season
- 37:48one is the climax.
- 37:50And now I've got to wait for season
- 37:52two to find out where it goes.
- 37:55But if you have not checked out Pluribus,
- 37:58well worth the watch.
- 38:00Well worth the getting through the first
- 38:03episode or two.
- 38:03So yeah, it is.
- 38:08The ending is unreal.
- 38:18Brother,
- 38:18there was this study or experiment.
- 38:20A guy mapped out a military installation
- 38:22from just photos from IG.
- 38:25See, that's scary.
- 38:30Stan,
- 38:30we're becoming too reliant on AI and
- 38:32automation.
- 38:33People are letting themselves be taken in
- 38:35by it for the convenience and safety.
- 38:37I know.
- 38:41Frida,
- 38:41I know someone working in cybersecurity.
- 38:43He refuses to use smart appliances.
- 38:45Yeah, I don't have any smart appliances.
- 38:49Thank goodness.
- 38:51And Sten says, need to finish Pluribus.
- 38:53I want more of the pit.
- 38:57Yeah, I am caught up on the pit,
- 39:00waiting for the next episode.
- 39:03What's crazy to me is I grew up
- 39:04outside of Pittsburgh.
- 39:05All of the references about Pittsburgh and
- 39:07the surrounding area are crazy.
- 39:09It is so true to the area,
- 39:12what they do there.
- 39:15So really fun to watch for me.
- 39:18But really love the pit.
- 39:20I was asking my wife, like,
- 39:25there are three shows that we love.
- 39:27Three shows.
- 39:28It's Landman, Shrinking, and The Pit.
- 39:32And I asked her which one does she
- 39:33is her favorite.
- 39:34And she said Landman quickly.
- 39:36But Shrinking to me is right there with
- 39:39Landman.
- 39:40And Pit is like a two.
- 39:42So like Shrinking and Landman, one A,
- 39:45one B.
- 39:46And then The Pit is a two.
- 39:50And pluribus is probably catching up
- 39:53there.
- 39:53I just need to see how they finish
- 39:55this thing all off.
- 40:02Vicky says, I have a smartphone,
- 40:04but I'm dumb, so it's not that smart.
- 40:07I probably only use ten percent of my
- 40:10smartphone.
- 40:12Because I just don't know what else it
- 40:14can do.
- 40:18When I was younger, I was like,
- 40:19I'm never going to let myself fall to
- 40:23a place where I don't understand
- 40:24technology.
- 40:27And technology started moving too fast and
- 40:33I couldn't keep up.
- 40:35And so now I really,
- 40:37really have no clue.
- 40:43I actually have a three-D printer that I
- 40:45bought recently.
- 40:47And I wanted to make like Clydesdale Media
- 40:49stuff with it to like hand out at
- 40:51different events and things like that.
- 40:53And it's still in the box because I
- 40:55am too afraid and too scared and not
- 40:58really afraid or scared.
- 41:02Really just I'm afraid that I'm not going
- 41:04to understand how to use it.
- 41:10So, yeah.
- 41:12So hopefully,
- 41:13my goal is this weekend is to get
- 41:14it out of the box and see what
- 41:15I can do with it.
- 41:17Finally.
- 41:21Ken Walters, I'm really late,
- 41:22but it's wild Darnold in the quarterback
- 41:24class of Lamar, Mayfield, Josh Allen.
- 41:26None have even been to a Super Bowl,
- 41:28let alone one-one.
- 41:32That's why sports are great.
- 41:33They're completely unpredictable.
- 41:42And as a Vikings fan,
- 41:43I would be so bummed that I got
- 41:44rid of Sam Darnold.
- 41:48Because that JJ McCarthy pic don't look so
- 41:50good.
- 41:53Mark Phillips,
- 41:53three printers are very newbie friendly
- 41:55nowadays.
- 41:56I hope so.
- 41:57I hope so.
- 42:02Just got to figure it out.
- 42:10Corey Leonard,
- 42:11if a smartphone is dependent on how smart
- 42:12I am, it's in trouble.
- 42:13Yeah.
- 42:17Yeah.
- 42:20All right, guys, it's been fun.
- 42:22I'm going to head back to work.
- 42:25Hope you guys head back to work too.
- 42:27We will see everybody tomorrow.
- 42:29And don't forget tomorrow night,
- 42:31we will be doing a Sunday night CrossFit
- 42:34talk on a Tuesday night.
- 42:37So Carolyn, Jamie,
- 42:37and I will get together tomorrow night to
- 42:39talk about all the CrossFit stuff.
- 42:43With that,
- 42:44don't forget to like and subscribe to the
- 42:45channel.
- 42:46It does mean a lot.
- 42:47Just hit that like button.
- 42:49It's free.
- 42:50Anybody can do it.
- 42:52Doesn't take a smartphone.
- 42:53Doesn't take a smart appliance.
- 42:54Doesn't take an Alexa or a ring doorbell
- 42:58camera.
- 42:58Just hit the like button.
- 43:00With that,
- 43:02hope you guys have a great rest of
- 43:03your day.
- 43:03We'll see everybody tomorrow on Lunch with
- 43:06the Clydesdale.
