• 6:58
  SPEAKER_00: They do.
• 6:59
  SPEAKER_00: They do.
• 6:59
SPEAKER_00: Um, if everybody knows in Germany they stopped production and they were continuing them in Mexico and Brazil.
• 7:07
  SPEAKER_00: They kept doing it.
• 7:08
SPEAKER_00: So the 74 looks like a 64 because they kept making them.
• 7:13
SPEAKER_00: And there's a shot right now on the screen if you watch.

• 8:14
  SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
• 8:15
  SPEAKER_01: You know what?
• 8:16
SPEAKER_01: To me, what really sets it off?
• 8:19
  SPEAKER_01: Don't laugh.
• 8:20
  SPEAKER_01: The curtains.
• 8:22
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 8:22
SPEAKER_00: That's why I put them on my other one.
• 8:23
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 8:24
SPEAKER_01: For photographers love that scene.

• 8:33
SPEAKER_01: Could you could you get them with that from uh the dealership?
• 8:38
  SPEAKER_01: Do you know?
• 8:39
SPEAKER_01: I don't even know where it was.
• 8:41
  SPEAKER_01: But it's an op.
• 8:42
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was probably an option.
• 8:44
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 8:44
SPEAKER_01: Well, in that year, didn't they also make the the pop-up tent thing?

• 8:50
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 8:50
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
• 8:51
SPEAKER_00: And that's where the curtains came in because you could sleep in it.
• 8:54
SPEAKER_00: Because there was a kitchen too.
• 8:56
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_00: You don't want the sunlight coming in, so they draw the curtain, right?
• 8:59
SPEAKER_00: And they you did the camp out and they slept on them.
• 9:01
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 9:01
  SPEAKER_00: People made road trips.
• 9:02
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 9:03
SPEAKER_01: And uh see that so I remember that.
• 9:05
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 9:06
SPEAKER_01: And um, it was still the same nerd group, but they the only difference is instead of going to the racetrack or car clubs, they would go camping.
• 9:14
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
• 9:15
SPEAKER_01: And listen, there's something to be said for that.
• 9:17
  SPEAKER_00: And I I love it, I think it's great.
• 9:19
SPEAKER_00: That's why they have a lot of the Volkswagen shows are camp outs.
• 9:22
  SPEAKER_00: They have a three-day show.
• 9:23

• 10:10
SPEAKER_01: The buses have a different engine, a little bit more cubic inches than the regular cars.
• 10:15
SPEAKER_00: The original one was a 1500 cc, which pushes about 34 horsepower.
• 10:20
  SPEAKER_00: There's a 1600 in here, so you're looking at maybe 42 horsepower.
• 10:24
SPEAKER_01: Did that come stock with it?
• 10:25
  SPEAKER_01: Or is it yes?
• 10:26
  SPEAKER_01: It does.
• 10:26
  SPEAKER_01: It did.
• 10:26
SPEAKER_01: So they bumped it up a little bit.
• 10:28
  SPEAKER_01: A little bit.
• 10:29
SPEAKER_01: Why did they do that?
• 10:30
SPEAKER_01: Why did they spend all that time and energy doing that?
• 10:33
  SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
• 10:35
  SPEAKER_00: Interstate driving.
• 10:36
SPEAKER_00: That's why instead of stopping both the freeway fires on there, and you didn't even think of that.
• 10:40
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, but that makes sense.
• 10:42
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.

SPEAKER_00: Um, okay, so have you done any work to it?
• 10:47
  SPEAKER_00: On this one, no.

SPEAKER_00: Nowadays, if you find them in that pristine, yes.
• 11:29
SPEAKER_00: That's that is that all original?
• 11:30
SPEAKER_00: This is all original, and the thing is, if you bought it basically what they call a rust bucket, if you pick up a rust bucket anywhere from 10 to 20 grand on a Brazilian.
• 11:40
SPEAKER_01: But but dude, but then you've got to uh spend all of that time exercise.
• 11:45
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
• 11:45
SPEAKER_00: That's why you want to buy a turnkey one.
• 11:47
SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean, I put all the work in my other one.
• 11:49
SPEAKER_00: Was that was that this one's a bunch of did you buy this from in California?
• 11:53
SPEAKER_00: No, this one was uh shipped from Brazil.
• 11:56
SPEAKER_00: What did you go down there and see it?
• 11:58
SPEAKER_00: A partner of mine, California.
• 12:00
  SPEAKER_00: That's what he does.
• 12:01
SPEAKER_00: He imports them, sells them in California.
• 12:03
SPEAKER_00: We bought we bring them to Califor or Texas to get the titles on them and see if they you know people like them or not.
• 12:09
SPEAKER_00: So I what do you mean whether they like them or not?
• 12:11
  SPEAKER_00: Really?
• 12:12
  SPEAKER_00: A lot of people.
• 12:12
SPEAKER_00: Well, they again when you picture a bus, you're picturing money.
• 12:17
SPEAKER_00: Brazilians are your alternative, so it's affordable.
• 12:20
SPEAKER_00: So I you can buy this for anywhere from 30 to 50, but a German would be 50 to 200 grand.
• 12:25
  SPEAKER_00: Really?
• 12:26
  SPEAKER_02: And that's again now.
• 12:27
  SPEAKER_00: Is that your business?
• 12:28
  SPEAKER_00: Do you do that?
• 12:30
  SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm retired, so it's my friend.
• 12:32
SPEAKER_00: I just help them out from the military.
• 12:33
SPEAKER_00: 22 years of military and 10 years as a nurse.
• 12:36
  SPEAKER_02: Very good.
• 12:37
SPEAKER_00: Are you are you an RN?
• 12:38
  SPEAKER_00: I was an LVN.
• 12:39
  SPEAKER_02: LVN LVN, yes, yes.
• 12:42
SPEAKER_02: Now we talked we talked about car collections, and that's that's perfect to start a car collection.
• 12:47
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you've got five.
• 12:48
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and and so we just did a feature on starting a car collection, right?
• 12:52
SPEAKER_01: And we talked about you know originals, we talked about modified and then all that customized.
• 12:58
SPEAKER_01: Uh I uh uh we we know people that have owned collections and major ones.
• 13:03
SPEAKER_01: Stan has a huge car collection, you probably know about that, and um, but his is all over the place, and you you've gotta you've gotta appreciate that.
• 13:11
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 13:12
  SPEAKER_01: I like that one.
• 13:13
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna buy that one.
• 13:15
SPEAKER_01: Okay, this is not that one, but I like that one too, and I'm gonna buy that one, right?
• 13:20
SPEAKER_01: And as time goes on, one leads to another, leads to another, leads to another.
• 13:26
SPEAKER_01: That part of it doesn't change.
• 13:28
SPEAKER_00: Neither does the part where you need a wife.
• 13:30
SPEAKER_00: You have all these girls with you now.
• 13:32
  SPEAKER_00: They're your girlfriends.
• 13:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have a wife.
• 13:34
SPEAKER_00: She says this is my second wife.
• 13:37
  SPEAKER_00: This one here.
• 13:38
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, yeah.
• 13:38
SPEAKER_00: So, where do you store the other ones?
• 13:41
  SPEAKER_00: In my garage.
• 13:42
  SPEAKER_00: So, you got a like a five-car garage?
• 13:44
  SPEAKER_00: Three-car.
• 13:44
  SPEAKER_00: Three car, yeah.
• 13:45
SPEAKER_00: And that was nice, yeah.
• 13:47
SPEAKER_00: Our personal cars stay out, we can keep these in the garage.
• 13:50
  SPEAKER_01: Good, good for you.
• 13:50
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
• 13:51
  SPEAKER_00: I I totally get that.
• 13:52
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
• 13:54
SPEAKER_00: The funny thing is, uh, when I moved out here, I wanted to bring basically not the California but the West Coast five or Volkswagen.
• 14:01
  SPEAKER_00: Sure.
• 14:02
SPEAKER_00: We started out with seven of us in the club.

SPEAKER_00: Funkin' Grooving, Vintage Volkswagen Club, yeah, here in Houston.
• 14:08
SPEAKER_00: We started out with seven members today.

• 14:28
  SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
• 14:28
SPEAKER_01: So, this is a big drop-off zone, and uh bring an unwrapped toy, drop it in the box.
• 14:34
SPEAKER_01: There's a man right there that's got some tickets.
• 14:36
SPEAKER_01: He's gonna give you a ticket, you get two tacos and a soda for free.
• 14:40

• 15:27
  SPEAKER_01: 28 years.
• 15:28
  SPEAKER_01: Really?
• 15:29
SPEAKER_01: Really longer with Toys for Tots than you were in the service.
• 15:32
  SPEAKER_01: That is correct.
• 15:33
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
• 15:34
SPEAKER_01: And and you know, everybody relates this to a once-a-year event, but it it is, but it's not, it's a full-time job for me.

SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm a volunteer, I don't get paid to do this, and it's year-round, year round, and you're doing it because you enjoy it.
• 15:48
SPEAKER_00: Because I love seeing the kids' faces on Christmas getting that one toy that they would never get given.
• 15:55
SPEAKER_02: Some kids don't get any toys, you know, it's not just the little ones, there's teens, there's pre-teens that also.
• 16:00
SPEAKER_02: People don't think about them.

• 16:04
SPEAKER_02: You know, you even uh uh uh apparel yes shirts and foundations and socks and things.
• 16:10
SPEAKER_02: That's you guys do all of that.

• 16:25
SPEAKER_00: Wow, wow, dropped it off, and then we had a toy district.

SPEAKER_00: We have to count each one of them, and then my volunteers take the toys and separate them by age male, female, aged unisex, and then by ages.
• 17:51
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, then we set the tables up and then we bag them for the nonprofit and for the individual families that registered said, Hey, I have a son, he's five years old, he likes Hot Wheels.

• 23:51
SPEAKER_01: But in the meantime, and in between time, I'm proud to report this story.
• 23:56
  SPEAKER_01: Dateline, Durham, North Carolina.
• 23:58
SPEAKER_01: Demand for electric vehicles has slowed dramatically.
• 24:02
  SPEAKER_01: Duh.
• 24:03
  SPEAKER_01: Yep.
• 24:03
SPEAKER_01: Federal tax incentives have been canceled.
• 24:06
SPEAKER_01: Grandiose EV ambitions are being postponed or scaled back.
• 24:10
SPEAKER_01: It's in this moment that eight of the world's largest car makers are hitting the accelerator on their joint effort to build a nationwide network of convenient, reliable EV chargers rivaling Teslas.
• 24:20
SPEAKER_01: That's what I want to put my money into.
• 24:22
  SPEAKER_01: More unusable charging stations.
• 24:25
  SPEAKER_02: Yep, there you go.
• 24:26
SPEAKER_02: You know, they're building uh a big launch pad, I guess, of EV chargers over at the airport, Sugar Land Airport.
• 24:32
SPEAKER_01: Iona, the startup those companies formed, is shooting for 30,000 charging bays across North America by the end of 2030.
• 24:41
SPEAKER_01: Its stations, branded as Rechargery, will give EV drivers easy access to grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and other amenities, along with the confidence that they won't get stranded on a road trip with a dead battery.
• 24:55
  unknown: Why not?
• 24:57
SPEAKER_01: Iona and its founding automakers, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Delantis, and Toyota, all of which invested an equal, undisclosed amount of money, say they want to build the nation's best charging network, even if not necessarily the largest, at some point to Tesla's superchargers as the standard to meet or exceed.
• 25:22
  SPEAKER_01: I have a story about that.
• 25:25
  SPEAKER_01: True experience.
• 25:27
SPEAKER_01: So I received a car to drive, and it was an all-electric and it didn't have the usual plug that I could plug into the house to charge the car, however how slow that is, but it gives me something.
• 25:43
SPEAKER_01: Now we're not gonna supply you with that, but we're gonna we're gonna supply you because the car has now this particular Kia has a Tesla plug.
• 25:53
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so there's a difference between the NAX plug and the Tesla plug.
• 25:59
SPEAKER_01: So they got a adapter, turnaround, whatever you want to call it, an adapter.
• 26:05
SPEAKER_01: Go try to find a Tesla charger that isn't full of Teslas or broken, or the Tesla chargers at the Tesla store down the street from me.
• 26:16
  SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, guess what?
• 26:17
  SPEAKER_01: Show me about that.
• 26:18
  SPEAKER_01: Unusable.
• 26:18
SPEAKER_01: Unusable, because you have to have authorization to use the 15 chargers that they've got there.
• 26:25
  SPEAKER_01: Incredible.
• 26:28
SPEAKER_01: There you go with that.
• 26:31
  SPEAKER_01: Tri-color.
• 26:32
  SPEAKER_01: Remember that story?
• 26:33
  SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
• 26:34
  SPEAKER_01: It's just ended.
• 26:36
SPEAKER_01: Well, kind of, yeah, but there's more.
• 26:39
SPEAKER_01: We're gonna have to do that the next hour.
• 26:40
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 26:41
