- 0:01Speaker 1: Now on The Voice of New York, it's the Mark
- 0:04Speaker 1: Simone Show on 710WOR. Hey. Well, it's back to normal today.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Normal weather for the rest of the week. It'll be
- 0:16Speaker 1: low 70s. It'll be nice today. It'll be even nicer tomorrow.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Back to normal. The rain is gone. Yeah, it might
- 0:23Speaker 1: get a little on Saturday. But otherwise, it's gone. A
- 0:26Speaker 1: lot to get to today. We'll get to midterms. We're
- 0:29Speaker 1: about 35 days away. Not much time for anybody to
- 0:33Speaker 1: do much of anything. Republicans are not getting their messaging together,
- 0:37Speaker 1: not making the case strongly enough. But no one knows
- 0:43Speaker 1: what's going to happen. It's impossible to predict right now.
- 0:47Speaker 1: President Trump having AI meetings today with AI heads. The
- 0:53Speaker 1: problem is trying to put some control on AI, it could–
- 0:58Speaker 1: If you believe Bill Gates, get out of control and
- 1:00Speaker 1: wipe us all out and kill us in a second.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And then there were others that think that it'll never
- 1:06Speaker 1: be that bad. Then you got these crazy politicians, these
- 1:10Speaker 1: ridiculous Republicans and Democrats, these old men in the Senate
- 1:15Speaker 1: and the Congress calling for a kill switch. If we
- 1:18Speaker 1: only had a kill switch. There's no such thing as
- 1:20Speaker 1: a kill switch. There's no kill switch. You can't have
- 1:25Speaker 1: a kill switch. That's one thing Bill Gates was good
- 1:28Speaker 1: on on the Sunday show saying. Anytime you hear anybody
- 1:30Speaker 1: say this, put in a kill switch. You can be
- 1:33Speaker 1: sure they don't know the first thing about the Internet
- 1:35Speaker 1: or how anything works. And you get Senator John Kennedy,
- 1:40Speaker 1: you know, that fake southerner with all them cute little things.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You hear him talk about AI. It sounds absolutely ridiculous. Now,
- 1:51Speaker 1: the problem is if AI is that dangerous, if it
- 1:54Speaker 1: is the most dangerous weapon on earth and could wipe
- 1:57Speaker 1: us all out. Well, then you got to make sure
- 2:00Speaker 1: we control it. You got to make sure China doesn't
- 2:02Speaker 1: have control of it. Uh, we're way ahead in the
- 2:05Speaker 1: AI race, way ahead. But if we were to slow
- 2:07Speaker 1: down or stop, China could get way ahead of us.
- 2:10Speaker 1: In fact, China right now is recruiting more AI engineers
- 2:14Speaker 1: than we are for some reason, paying them more or
- 2:17Speaker 1: whatever they have to do. But you got to, this
- 2:20Speaker 1: is like a nuclear arms race. You got to stay
- 2:21Speaker 1: ahead of China in this, uh, Hey, Jimmy Kimmel Live,
- 2:26Speaker 1: you know, this is a show hobbling along on its
- 2:28Speaker 1: last legs. It's in the final season. Jimmy Kimmel Live
- 2:32Speaker 1: has come to Brooklyn. He did the first show last
- 2:34Speaker 1: night with Mayor Mamdani. It's a week of, you know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: super left-wing, Trump-hating, all that sort of stuff. Other guests,
- 2:45Speaker 1: he's doing it from the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Hey,
- 2:48Speaker 1: by the way, this Kimmel show is hobbling along. I
- 2:51Speaker 1: think they're going to do five days this week. But
- 2:54Speaker 1: most weeks they can't afford to even do five days.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So they do four or three and then run some reruns.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And apparently he's just taken a huge pay cut. The
- 3:02Speaker 1: whole budget of the show has been cut by about 25%.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So he's had to take a huge pay cut as
- 3:08Speaker 1: they hobble along through their final year. But all the
- 3:13Speaker 1: left wing, the Trump-hating guests are all coming out for
- 3:16Speaker 1: this final week. Paul McCartney, Billy Crystal, Pete Davidson. Bruce Springsteen,
- 3:22Speaker 1: Howard Stern, and Maher Shala Ali. Who the hell is that?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Does anybody know? I don't know. But if you're in
- 3:33Speaker 1: the left-wing Jimmy Kimmel world, they've put that with these
- 3:36Speaker 1: other names. They've put that name with McCartney and Springsteen,
- 3:41Speaker 1: Maher Shala Ali. Whoever the hell that is, nobody knows. Hey,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you know, President Trump, he does do some great things. Yesterday,
- 3:50Speaker 1: he made a big announcement. They're going to build the
- 3:53Speaker 1: largest steel plant in the history of the world in America.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It's been a long time since anything like that has happened.
- 3:59Speaker 1: They're all in China. You know, we lost a lot
- 4:02Speaker 1: of our industries to China, a lot of our manufacturing
- 4:06Speaker 1: steel and things that be crucial to us. Let's say
- 4:10Speaker 1: there was a war and we were cut off. All
- 4:12Speaker 1: of our vital medicine is made overseas in China. All
- 4:16Speaker 1: of our steel, you know, we need that kind of
- 4:18Speaker 1: stuff in the worst emergency. We need to be able
- 4:21Speaker 1: to make it ourselves. So it's going to be in Iowa.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Largest steel plant in American history will be built here.
- 4:29Speaker 1: It'll create 60,000 new manufacturing jobs. And it's a great thing.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It's a great thing. And it helps in the midterms, too.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Republicans are defending all four House seats in Iowa. The
- 4:42Speaker 1: Senate seat is being vacated by Joni Ernst, who's retiring.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Trump won Iowa by 13 points just two years ago,
- 4:50Speaker 1: but it's close now. It's very close. So that's a
- 4:55Speaker 1: big announcement yesterday. Very, very good. Hey, Senator John Kennedy.
- 5:00Speaker 1: John Kennedy. Now, we'll give him credit for one thing.
- 5:03Speaker 1: He's pushing a bill that no politician is allowed to
- 5:11Speaker 1: name anybody anything after themselves any building anything while they're
- 5:16Speaker 1: still alive uh usually have to be dead of course
- 5:20Speaker 1: kennedy airport or reagan air i think reagan was still
- 5:24Speaker 1: alive when that airport was named wasn't he but uh
- 5:28Speaker 1: rfk bridge that sort of stuff uh so kennedy pushing
- 5:31Speaker 1: this saying you can't spend public money to promote yourself
- 5:35Speaker 1: you can't uh name anything well now actually if you're
- 5:37Speaker 1: donald trump this is not a good bill he loves
- 5:40Speaker 1: the name Everything after himself. So as long as you're alive,
- 5:44Speaker 1: you wouldn't be able to name anything after him. Although
- 5:48Speaker 1: they've named the Palm Beach airport after him, but that
- 5:50Speaker 1: was Palm Beach in Florida's decision. You know, it's driving
- 5:55Speaker 1: the Trump haters crazy. If you fly to Palm Beach,
- 5:58Speaker 1: it's now the Donald J. Trump International Airport. And it'll
- 6:03Speaker 1: say that all over the place. It'll say it on
- 6:05Speaker 1: your ticket. Even the airport code is DJT. So believe
- 6:09Speaker 1: it or not, some of the crazed Trump haters who
- 6:12Speaker 1: are going to Palm Beach are actually flying to Fort
- 6:15Speaker 1: Lauderdale or to Miami just because they won't go through
- 6:19Speaker 1: that airport. Hey, for the midterms, there's a lot of,
- 6:24Speaker 1: not a lot, but a bunch of Republicans who are
- 6:27Speaker 1: turning on Trump as they seek re-election. They're turning on Trump.
- 6:31Speaker 1: They're bad-mouthing the Iran war. They're distancing themselves from him.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And there are others now calling for him right now
- 6:39Speaker 1: to end the war in Iran. Which brings up a
- 6:44Speaker 1: good question. How would you end it? They haven't fired
- 6:47Speaker 1: a shot in a month. Nobody's fighting. What is their day?
- 6:50Speaker 1: How would you end it? You know, you could say, oh,
- 6:54Speaker 1: the war is now in its seventh month. Yeah, but
- 6:56Speaker 1: it's only been like 12 days out of seven months
- 6:59Speaker 1: there's been any war. So if you were to end it,
- 7:02Speaker 1: who would notice? Nobody's firing. Nobody's fighting. Hey, by the way,
- 7:06Speaker 1: the Strait of Hormuz... General David Petraeus reporting, and he's
- 7:11Speaker 1: got very good intelligence around the world, the Strait of
- 7:14Speaker 1: Hormuz is even more open than we think. A lot
- 7:19Speaker 1: of tankers are coming through the Strait of Hormuz. And
- 7:22Speaker 1: it was thought 7 million barrels a day were coming through.
- 7:26Speaker 1: He believes it's 10 to 11 million barrels a day.
- 7:32Speaker 1: In fact, he says there was, and his intelligence is
- 7:35Speaker 1: very good. He has all kinds of sources there. He
- 7:38Speaker 1: said there was one day where they moved 17 million
- 7:41Speaker 1: barrels through the Strait of Hormuz, which is pretty much
- 7:43Speaker 1: close to the pre-war number. Admiral Cooper, who's the commander
- 7:48Speaker 1: of all this, U.S. Central Command, said on September 19th,
- 7:52Speaker 1: commercial transit, volume of oil, cargo, liquefied natural gas moving
- 7:57Speaker 1: through Hormuz over the past two weeks have reached the
- 8:00Speaker 1: highest levels in six months. And Petraeus writing a huge
- 8:06Speaker 1: piece about this, that Iran is under mounting pressure. The
- 8:11Speaker 1: entire economy very, very close to collapse. He reports that
- 8:15Speaker 1: they're on the brink, very close to total collapse. The blockade,
- 8:20Speaker 1: we've been controlling Strait of Hormuz and blockading it has
- 8:23Speaker 1: effectively just completely devastated their economy. Treasury Secretary Scott Besson
- 8:29Speaker 1: thinks Iran only has a few weeks left of survival
- 8:32Speaker 1: before the whole economy just collapses. Now Democrats praying that
- 8:37Speaker 1: doesn't happen before the midterms. Hey, the UN stuff, nobody
- 8:44Speaker 1: knows what the hell they do at the UN except
- 8:46Speaker 1: badmouth Israel, except do their anti-Semitic crap, except tie up
- 8:50Speaker 1: every parking space and hook her in New York. Nobody
- 8:52Speaker 1: knows what else they do at the UN. But the
- 8:56Speaker 1: Trump envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are saying a
- 9:01Speaker 1: lot of progress was made. Great progress was made. especially
- 9:05Speaker 1: with Russia and Ukraine that had very, very lengthy talks.
- 9:08Speaker 1: He said, when you all sit down in person, the Russians,
- 9:11Speaker 1: the Ukrainians, it really makes a difference. And they said
- 9:14Speaker 1: they're closer than ever to resolving the thing. And when
- 9:18Speaker 1: they had these meetings, they also discussed Iran with the
- 9:21Speaker 1: Iranian officials. And they were joined by the Saudis, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar,
- 9:28Speaker 1: all were there. They think they made a lot of progress,
- 9:31Speaker 1: but who knows? Who knows? They also got approval, Witkoff
- 9:36Speaker 1: and Kushner, for the $ 3 billion reconstruction plan for the
- 9:41Speaker 1: Gaza Strip at the Board of Peace Summit. So they
- 9:44Speaker 1: claim they got some stuff done. We'll see. We'll see
- 9:48Speaker 1: if they really actually got anything done. The UN, of course,
- 9:54Speaker 1: a total, total waste of time, doing absolutely nothing for anybody. Hey, AOC,
- 10:01Speaker 1: everybody thinks she's running because she seems to be campaigning
- 10:05Speaker 1: all over the place. It just never stops. She was
- 10:08Speaker 1: at Cornell where they're dealing with this rape problem and
- 10:14Speaker 1: their anti-Semitism out of control at Cornell. Listen to what
- 10:18Speaker 1: happens at the AOC. She's there to speak. Listen to
- 10:21Speaker 1: the crowd. I'd like you guys to repeat after me.
- 10:25Speaker 1: From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Thank you. This is what they do at Cornell. That's
- 10:37Speaker 1: the ultimate in anti-Semitic wipe out, kill Israel. chant that
- 10:42Speaker 1: river to the sea crap that's what they do at
- 10:45Speaker 1: cornell everybody stay the hell away from cornell besides the
- 10:50Speaker 1: rape uh situation they're dealing with those allegations the anti-semitism
- 10:56Speaker 1: is totally completely out of control there right now uh
- 11:02Speaker 1: billy joel you know he's a great motorcycle collector remember
- 11:05Speaker 1: that uh store in oyster bay More than a store,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that big showroom where he had hundreds of his motorcycles
- 11:11Speaker 1: on display. Well, he's getting rid of the whole collection.
- 11:16Speaker 1: It's going up for auction. 75 motorcycles going up for auction,
- 11:22Speaker 1: including Harleys, Yamahas, BMWs. Expected to fetch big bucks in November,
- 11:29Speaker 1: according to Christie's Auction House. They'll handle the auction. Billy Joel,
- 11:32Speaker 1: you know, he's now $ 77, 000. And, you know, he's had
- 11:37Speaker 1: some serious medical stuff with the brain. He's got a
- 11:40Speaker 1: problem with his balance, a brain problem. So hopefully he's
- 11:43Speaker 1: getting better. But obviously he can't be riding motorcycles anymore.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You know, and he was just fine. Remember, he was
- 11:49Speaker 1: crashing into trees. There was an accident every two weeks.
- 11:52Speaker 1: He was running off the road and all that. So
- 11:55Speaker 1: in his condition, he cannot, cannot, cannot ride a motorcycle.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So they're all being auctioned off. The auction will be
- 12:03Speaker 1: November 20th, 21st, Javits Center. including, ooh, look at this.
- 12:10Speaker 1: It's 1978 Triumph T140 Bonneville. Ooh. I don't know what
- 12:17Speaker 1: the hell that is. They all look the same to me.
- 12:19Speaker 1: They all look like just the same motorcycle. But this
- 12:22Speaker 1: beloved bike was given to Joel by Madison Square Garden
- 12:25Speaker 1: for his 150th sold-out show and is going to be auctioned,
- 12:30Speaker 1: estimated 15,000. That's all it is, 15,000? Does that sound right? No,
- 12:38Speaker 1: it doesn't make, you know, with these rare car auctions,
- 12:39Speaker 1: there are a million, 800,000, 15,000. Joel's large collection also
- 12:45Speaker 1: includes a 1982 Ducati Mike Halwood 900. I don't know
- 12:51Speaker 1: what that is. Who the hell knows what all this
- 12:52Speaker 1: stuff is? But there's a lot of motorcycle collectors out
- 12:55Speaker 1: there who are yelling and screaming that they do. Also,
- 12:58Speaker 1: a restored 1975 Ducati 750 Sport. Expected to fetch around 35,000.
- 13:06Speaker 1: That's not a lot for these are supposed to be
- 13:08Speaker 1: such rare things. Before the auction, if you want to
- 13:11Speaker 1: just look at this stuff, for about a week, October
- 13:14Speaker 1: 8th to 12th, it'll be on display, Rockefeller Center. Christie's
- 13:18Speaker 1: has a big showroom in Rockefeller Center. You can go
- 13:21Speaker 1: there October 8th to 12th to take a look at this.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Proceeds from the sale will go to the Joel Foundation,
- 13:26Speaker 1: a nonprofit centered on music education and the arts. I
- 13:31Speaker 1: know some guys that are big, big motorcycle collectors. And
- 13:36Speaker 1: they'll take you to their showroom and they got like
- 13:38Speaker 1: 20 of them lined up. And they're explaining each one
- 13:41Speaker 1: to you. And I don't know if I should tell
- 13:44Speaker 1: them that to all of us, they all look the same.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Can't tell one from the other. I don't see any difference.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Why don't you pick the best motorcycle that you like
- 13:53Speaker 1: and just ride that. It's like Jay Leno with the
- 13:56Speaker 1: 5,000 cars. You ever get up in the morning, you
- 14:01Speaker 1: don't know what to wear. What shirt should I wear?
- 14:04Speaker 1: Which pants should I, you got to make this, imagine
- 14:07Speaker 1: going to the garage, you got 5,000 cars. What car
- 14:10Speaker 1: should I take today? What a complicated world. Now, in
- 14:13Speaker 1: the case of Jay Leno, it's different. You know, he
- 14:14Speaker 1: was an auto mechanic, a great auto mechanic before he
- 14:19Speaker 1: became a comedian. He was an auto mechanic. He worked
- 14:21Speaker 1: for Rolls-Royce. So he understands all this stuff. And I'll
- 14:24Speaker 1: bet you, knowing Billy Joel, he knows how to fix
- 14:27Speaker 1: a motorcycle, knows all about it. But if you're going
- 14:31Speaker 1: to pick a hobby, riding around in motorcycle and all that.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I don't know. Speaking of legends, Rod Stewart has announced
- 14:40Speaker 1: his retirement after six decades on stage. You know, he
- 14:44Speaker 1: had some medical troubles and had a canceled show, so
- 14:47Speaker 1: he's announced his retirement. Does that mean he's not well
- 14:50Speaker 1: enough to... Well, wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait
- 14:52Speaker 1: a minute. Look at this. The final tour will be
- 14:56Speaker 1: next year. Wait a minute. Obviously, if he can tour
- 15:01Speaker 1: for another year, he can tour. So this is like
- 15:04Speaker 1: a Streisand deal. Remember, every year she'd announce it's the
- 15:07Speaker 1: farewell tour. It'll be your last chance to see her.
- 15:10Speaker 1: She would do that to sell tickets. That way everybody thinks,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I got to get it. I got to see this.
- 15:14Speaker 1: It's going to be her final tour. And then a
- 15:17Speaker 1: year later, there'll be another farewell tour. Then everybody says,
- 15:20Speaker 1: this is it. I got to buy a ticket. Then
- 15:22Speaker 1: there'd be another farewell tour. So I think you may
- 15:25Speaker 1: be seeing that from Rod Stewart. Anyway, we've got a
- 15:29Speaker 1: lot to get to today. We'll get to Good Morning America. Apparently,
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's going to be a shakeup there. I didn't realize this.
- 15:36Speaker 1: They all hate each other, all these anchors. They can't
- 15:39Speaker 1: be in the same room with each other. They hate
- 15:41Speaker 1: each other so much. We'll get to that coming up.
- 15:46Speaker 1: As I say, the weather will be good today. It'll
- 15:48Speaker 1: be a nice day. We went through a hell of
- 15:51Speaker 1: a stretch of three or four days of the crappiest
- 15:53Speaker 1: weather imaginable. And now, great day today, even nicer tomorrow.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It's Mark Simone here. Three hours every day, three hours
- 16:01Speaker 1: every day, nine to noon every day. here on 710WOR.
