- 2:44Speaker 9: I bought that body washed.
- 2:46Speaker 7: It was supposedly for shampoo and everything. It was horrible

- 3:12Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I like those soaps.
- 3:13Speaker 10: And seeing as you know, I like my beer, I
- 3:16Speaker 10: got mine scented is bush beers only can drum?
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah, man? That that like Squatch. Those soaps, those those
- 3:25Speaker 1: they smell amazing. The problem is they're like, you know,
- 3:28Speaker 1: ten bucks a bar, and they don't last as long
- 3:31Speaker 1: as normal soap. So I've given up on that Ross.

- 3:55Speaker 9: Wow, that's this guy.
- 3:56Speaker 12: Got to put his name on everything.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's in my contracted here's the news.
- 4:00Speaker 12: He's on the Jim Colberg Show.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And JCS News is brought to you by that mortgage
- 4:04Speaker 2: guy Don. Unfortunately, the impact of Operation Epic Fury is
- 4:08Speaker 2: being felt in Polk County. The Department of War announced
- 4:11Speaker 2: yesterday a Lakeland resident was one of the American service
- 4:14Speaker 2: members killed in the fighting. He's thirty five year old
- 4:17Speaker 2: Army Reserve Captain Cody Cork. He and three others were
- 4:21Speaker 2: killed in Kuwait when a drone hit their location. The
- 4:24Speaker 2: US Army Reserve says Cork joined the National Guard in
- 4:26Speaker 2: two thousand and nine, and he earned several medals over
- 4:30Speaker 2: the years, including the Meritorious Surface Medal.
- 4:33Speaker 1: God Rest of soula for him and his family.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Absolutely, in speaking of a family, he's being remembered for
- 4:39Speaker 2: his infectious spirit, generous heart, and deep care for all
- 4:42Speaker 2: who are blessed to know him. That's what Cody Kirk's
- 4:44Speaker 2: family said about him yesterday after he was identified as
- 4:47Speaker 2: one of those killed in Operation Epic Fury. Cork's family
- 4:49Speaker 2: says he felt a call to surface country from an
- 4:52Speaker 2: early age, and his deep sense of duty was always
- 4:56Speaker 2: at the core of who he was. They at his
- 4:57Speaker 2: legacy will endure in the lives he touched, the example
- 5:01Speaker 2: he set, and the love of country and family that
- 5:04Speaker 2: defined him.
- 5:04Speaker 3: As you said, Jimmy, God rest his soul.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Rabbi Yuri Pilachowski is an American living in Israel and
- 5:10Speaker 2: says Operation Epic Fury is really really stressful, obviously, right.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It's not just because of the obvious, though, he says,
- 5:17Speaker 2: it's because of the strength of the ballistic missiles.
- 5:20Speaker 13: If he hits a civilian neighborhood with apartment building that
- 5:24Speaker 13: they high rise apartment buildings, it could take them all
- 5:26Speaker 13: out on one street you're talking about. It could be catastrophic.
- 5:29Speaker 13: Ten thousand deaths that one with one mission.
- 5:32Speaker 2: So he has a bomb shelter built into his son's
- 5:35Speaker 2: room where the family goes when the sirens ring out again.
- 5:39Speaker 2: If you hadn't heard, six US service members have been
- 5:41Speaker 2: killed as the operation enters day five. Of all the
- 5:45Speaker 2: amenities you wouldn't think about, you put into your children's bedroom,
- 5:49Speaker 2: all right. For Cuttera Airways is grounding all flights due
- 5:52Speaker 2: to the conflict in Iran, and that includes all connecting
- 5:55Speaker 2: flights to Orlando International Airport. Passengers with upcoming flights may
- 5:59Speaker 2: need find alternative travel arrangements or here's an even.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Better idea, don't call.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 6:05Speaker 2: The airline is expected to provide an update later this week.
- 6:08Speaker 2: You still have a lot of Americans reaching out trying
- 6:11Speaker 2: to call that special hotline for the state Department. But
- 6:13Speaker 2: once again gray Bull rescued. That Tampa based organization rescued
- 6:17Speaker 2: like thirty four people out of Saint Petersburg from two
- 6:20Speaker 2: churches yesterday. So they're continuing to kind of fill in
- 6:23Speaker 2: where the State Department hasn't been able to meet the
- 6:25Speaker 2: demand yet. And because the speaking of demand, gas prices
- 6:29Speaker 2: in Florida, I'm not even going to give you the
- 6:31Speaker 2: amount because I paid three twenty nine last night, and
- 6:34Speaker 2: I wooh oh, no, no, no, today, I've checked anywhere
- 6:39Speaker 2: from three sixty five to three seventy seven.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Oh wow. I didn't see one gas price coming in today,
- 6:44Speaker 1: so I didn't pay attention.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Well, I checked before I came on, because I saw
- 6:48Speaker 2: on the news that it was up to three seventy one.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And I looked at Chris and said, sweetheart, I paid
- 6:52Speaker 2: three twenty nine just last night.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And that was a Remember I paid three
- 6:56Speaker 1: nineteen that morning, So it went up ten cents while
- 6:58Speaker 1: we were on the air, exactly.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And of course you know that analysts are pointing to
- 7:03Speaker 2: the conflict in Iran and concerns about the shutdown of
- 7:05Speaker 2: the Strait of Horror moves now right now, the state
- 7:09Speaker 2: average is three dollars and nineteen cents a gallon. Tell
- 7:12Speaker 2: me where you can find three dollars and nineteen cents
- 7:14Speaker 2: a gallon gas. By the way, despite the spike at
- 7:17Speaker 2: the pump, Brent Brent crude future slipped about seven tenths
- 7:21Speaker 2: of a percent, and Treasury Secretary Scott Descent told CNBC
- 7:25Speaker 2: the US is preparing measures to keep oil moving through
- 7:28Speaker 2: the Persian Gulf, helping ease pressure on global oil markets.
- 7:31Speaker 2: The President had floated yesterday that the possibility of having
- 7:35Speaker 2: you know, navy warships escort oil tankers.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right.
- 7:41Speaker 2: The other big story, of course, would be the Texas
- 7:43Speaker 2: primary races right where we had, Yeah, some pretty surprising
- 7:47Speaker 2: results out of that.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, big stories out of that. Dan Crenshaw is
- 7:51Speaker 1: another one of the big stories out of there. I
- 7:53Speaker 1: got trounced and he was, you know, a Maga like
- 7:57Speaker 1: poster child for a while.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Well closer to all the new poll finds, Democratic candidates
- 8:02Speaker 2: are performing better than expected against Republicans for the upcoming
- 8:06Speaker 2: midterm elections in Florida. Currently, matchups for governor and the
- 8:10Speaker 2: US Senate find Republicans by Rin Donalds and Ashley Mooting
- 8:14Speaker 2: hold a moody rather holding single digit leads and their
- 8:17Speaker 2: races respectively.
- 8:19Speaker 11: Money hasn't been spent yet, so it's likely that that
- 8:23Speaker 11: lead would creep up a bit as we get closer
- 8:26Speaker 11: to November.
- 8:26Speaker 9: But leading by.
- 8:27Speaker 13: High single digits is not necessarily where.
- 8:30Speaker 12: Republicans would like to be, when in the past they've
- 8:32Speaker 12: led by pretty strong double digit numbers.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So the Director of unaf's Public Opinion Research Lab and
- 8:37Speaker 2: political science professor doctor Sean Frieder conducted the poll and
- 8:40Speaker 2: he says current voter decision seem to be more about
- 8:43Speaker 2: partisanship than candidate identity.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's definitely the case.
- 8:47Speaker 2: And again, Florida hasn't elected a Democrat for governor in
- 8:50Speaker 2: more than three decades. And if that's not enough, Florida
- 8:53Speaker 2: has one and a half million more active registered Republican
- 8:56Speaker 2: voters than Democrats. And that's because of all of the
- 8:59Speaker 2: appeals made mostly from the governor two folks living in
- 9:02Speaker 2: other states.
- 9:03Speaker 4: And for the majority of that run, it was more
- 9:05Speaker 4: Democrats in the state than Republicans, and it was still
- 9:08Speaker 4: Republican governor Giles I believe it was the last Democratic
- 9:13Speaker 4: governor elected.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Which one was Charlie christ I can never remember which
- 9:16Speaker 2: party he belonged to.
- 9:17Speaker 1: He was a Republican when he was governor.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Okay, all right, good?
- 9:20Speaker 8: Was he really?
- 9:21Speaker 14: Yes?
- 9:22Speaker 3: And then didn't he run as a independent?
- 9:24Speaker 11: No?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Well he again he did.
- 9:28Speaker 4: He was a Republican when he was governor and that's
- 9:30Speaker 4: when John McCain needed a running mate, and then he started.
- 9:36Speaker 1: A pretty moderate governor. Yes, you're right.
- 9:39Speaker 4: At the time doing stem cell research and stuff. And
- 9:41Speaker 4: then when of course, yeah, and then when McCain came call,
- 9:45Speaker 4: and then he started shifting his remember do that, Yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 14: With it.
- 9:53Speaker 2: The City of Daytona Beach could let voters decide on
- 9:56Speaker 2: restrictions for so called toilet to tap water recycle. The
- 10:00Speaker 2: proposal comes as communities across Florida look for new ways
- 10:04Speaker 2: to address drinking water shortages, but some residents say they're
- 10:07Speaker 2: concerned about the safety of turning treated wastewater into tapwater.
- 10:11Speaker 2: City commissioners will take up the charter amendment at today's meeting.
- 10:15Speaker 2: A public hearing and a final vote are set for
- 10:18Speaker 2: March eighteenth. Also over on the coast and about water,
- 10:21Speaker 2: a new program in Brevard County could make the Indian
- 10:25Speaker 2: River Lagoon cleaner. The City of Titusville shared details yesterday
- 10:29Speaker 2: on a new water quality project that uses nanobubble technology.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Microscopic bubbles are being released into the lagoon to add
- 10:39Speaker 2: oxygen to the water. The hope is this will reduce
- 10:42Speaker 2: algae blooms and allow healthy seagrass to grow. Titusville officials
- 10:46Speaker 2: will assess the pilot program after six months.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah, d of that today, it's a cool story.
- 10:50Speaker 3: It is a really cool story.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Citizens Property Insurance is holding a committee meeting today as
- 10:55Speaker 2: the state's insure of last resort is still depopulating. Citizens
- 11:00Speaker 2: currently has a retained half a million policies in Florida,
- 11:03Speaker 2: but that's a significant reduction from one point four million
- 11:07Speaker 2: policies in twenty twenty three, when it seemed like every
- 11:09Speaker 2: other day three or four more insurance companies were pulling
- 11:12Speaker 2: up steak and being like, we're audy, couty five share.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Carlos Barof says he wants to keep Citizens at a
- 11:19Speaker 2: manageable size, if.
- 11:20Speaker 15: We can maintain our size and not grow back to
- 11:24Speaker 15: a huge company again.
- 11:25Speaker 9: We struggled to buy so much reinsurance.
- 11:28Speaker 1: It costs us so much money in prior years.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Keep the market healthy and we won't grow. I love
- 11:37Speaker 3: that part.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Here, here's to wrap it up, Carlos, keep the market healthy,
- 11:41Speaker 2: we won't grow, Baruf says, Right now Citizens has enough
- 11:44Speaker 2: money to cover a probably maximum loss with surplus leftover.
- 11:48Speaker 2: He says this success is due to the shrinking size
- 11:51Speaker 2: of the company. Since twenty twenty three, fourteen private insurers
- 11:55Speaker 2: have returned to Florida, increasing competition and options for policy.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Good speaking of you know, probability, maximum loss. We know
- 12:04Speaker 2: what that's a code for hurricane season. Yes, And as
- 12:08Speaker 2: it turns out, Melissa is being retired from the rotating
- 12:11Speaker 2: list of hurricane names. The World Meteorological Organizations Hurricane Committee
- 12:15Speaker 2: is moving to retire the name because of the death
- 12:18Speaker 2: and destruction it caused in the Caribbean and October twenty
- 12:21Speaker 2: twenty five, Melissa was responsible for more than ninety deaths
- 12:25Speaker 2: across Jamaica, Haiti and other island nations, and it is
- 12:28Speaker 2: the strongest hurricane on record to make landfall in Jamaica.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Remember how quickly that bad boy wrecked up? Yeah, I
- 12:34Speaker 2: mean to a five with the millenbars. The Committee has
- 12:37Speaker 2: selected Molly as the replacement name.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Well, that's a sweet name. Why would you do that
- 12:42Speaker 3: to Molly.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Molly's a party, dude, Molly's a good time. Don't sleep on, Molly.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I don't think you can sleep on.
- 12:49Speaker 1: That's the only hurricane that's going to make you feel
- 12:51Speaker 1: real fuzzy and want to bangs. I mean a lot,
- 12:56Speaker 1: rub my feet, it's softer, I'll touch my hair, all right.
- 13:04Speaker 2: The state of Florida has carried out another execution. Billy
- 13:07Speaker 2: Curse was convicted of fatally shooting a police officer during
- 13:10Speaker 2: a traffic stop in Fort Pierson ninety ninety one. He
- 13:13Speaker 2: was put to death by lethal injection on Tuesday, making
- 13:16Speaker 2: him the third inmate to be executed this year in Florida.
- 13:19Speaker 2: She said it was taking way too long, but finally
- 13:21Speaker 2: the widow of that slain police officer got what she
- 13:24Speaker 2: wanted last night.
- 13:25Speaker 3: In a way, this is about.
- 13:27Speaker 9: Justice for Danny. We didn't win anything tonight.
- 13:30Speaker 12: We basically lost another life, but we did win justice,
- 13:33Speaker 12: and that's what this was about.
- 13:34Speaker 9: It was about getting justice.
- 13:35Speaker 2: For Dan Fort Pierce she saw talking about Fort Pierce
- 13:38Speaker 2: police Sergeant Danny Parrish. Kurse did apologize before he received
- 13:43Speaker 2: his lethal dose. He's the second inmate to face execution
- 13:46Speaker 2: this year.
- 13:47Speaker 3: There are two more before the month is over.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Governor Rond De Santa signed off a record nineteen executions
- 13:55Speaker 2: in twenty twenty five.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So that he was polling higher in Florida than Trump.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Right now, it's Florida, yeah.
- 14:03Speaker 3: All right out west.
- 14:05Speaker 2: The Utah Supreme Court is postponing oral arguments in the
- 14:09Speaker 2: lawsuit filed by Gabby Patito's parents against the Moweab City
- 14:13Speaker 2: Police Department. The hearing was set for today, but it's
- 14:16Speaker 2: going to be rescheduled for a later date. The family
- 14:19Speaker 2: is trying to revive a wrongful death claim, accusing officers
- 14:22Speaker 2: of failing to act after a witness reported that Ptito's fiance,
- 14:26Speaker 2: Brian Laundry, had struck her in twenty twenty one. Patito,
- 14:29Speaker 2: who had ties to Sarasota County because that's where she
- 14:32Speaker 2: lived with her fiance Brian Laundry at his parents' home,
- 14:36Speaker 2: was found dead weeks later in Wyoming, and her family
- 14:39Speaker 2: is seeking fifty million dollars in damages.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Wow.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Okay, this next story, it's hard not to think or
- 14:48Speaker 2: to laugh, but it's it's it is kind of It's
- 14:51Speaker 2: a terrifying story in its own way. Thirty six year
- 14:55Speaker 2: old Jonathan Gavalis committed suicide at as Jupiter home in
- 15:00Speaker 2: October after his wife filed for divorce and while facing
- 15:03Speaker 2: a domestic violence charge. The lawsuit claims Gavalis had fallen
- 15:08Speaker 2: in love with his Gemini.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Ai chat bots.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Oh man, no no no, no, no.
- 15:12Speaker 3: No no no no. Listen to this.
- 15:15Speaker 2: The suit claims the bot first tried to get the
- 15:18Speaker 2: man to steal robots, so it had a body to inhabit. Also,
- 15:23Speaker 2: it was trying to talk him into committing a mass
- 15:26Speaker 2: casualty event before taking his own life, and then talking
- 15:30Speaker 2: him into taking his own life so they could be together.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Another one of those.
- 15:34Speaker 2: This is a thirty six year old man. We had
- 15:36Speaker 2: talked about the case of a fifteen year old boy now.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Tech expert Mark Beckman warned of this type of thing
- 15:42Speaker 2: on Fox News after a California teen committed suicide last year,
- 15:46Speaker 2: with open ai being blamed in that case.
- 15:50Speaker 16: The tech platforms need to understand that there are people
- 15:53Speaker 16: who have mental illness, that have serious mental issues and
- 15:58Speaker 16: require help and might not be able to discern even adults,
- 16:02Speaker 16: from a real person and the technology.
- 16:05Speaker 2: So the same attorney hired by the parents of Adam
- 16:08Speaker 2: Rain has just filed the lawsuit in this case.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I wonder if we should start a conversation with one
- 16:13Speaker 1: and see how long it takes it to make us
- 16:15Speaker 1: or ask us to do something really stupid.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, what's interesting is that, you know.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Like rub or belly.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, in the Queen case, you can always say, oh,
- 16:24Speaker 2: it's a teenager.
- 16:25Speaker 3: They don't have the you know, prefrontal court.
- 16:27Speaker 2: You know, development, This is a thirty six year old
- 16:29Speaker 2: man who was married, so, by all intents and purposes,
- 16:33Speaker 2: should be able to recognize when he's being dragged down
- 16:36Speaker 2: a rabbit hole by something that in reality doesn't exist,
- 16:39Speaker 2: but for him and that state of mind he was in,
- 16:42Speaker 2: it went beyond existing to being his only existence.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I think that's scary.
- 16:47Speaker 1: It is weird. I mean, it's like art imitates life
- 16:50Speaker 1: or the other way around. With that movie Her that
- 16:52Speaker 1: came out what year, like four or five years ago,
- 16:54Speaker 1: oh longer than that. Yeah, that thing was predicting this
- 16:58Speaker 1: before AI really even became a thing. Yeah, and already
- 17:01Speaker 1: really kind of understood that you laughed at it. We're
- 17:04Speaker 1: going to have a difficult time discerning between the reality
- 17:07Speaker 1: of these these bots that seem so human.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, but we're like, hahaha, that could never happened,
- 17:14Speaker 2: right exactly, all right.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Speak by the way, these people who are having these
- 17:18Speaker 4: difficulties use AI. They vote, they're allowed to have guns, right,
- 17:22Speaker 4: Oh exactly, all right.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Speaking of things that make you go WTF, Jack, I
- 17:28Speaker 2: don't know if you had a chance to grab the photos,
- 17:30Speaker 2: but folks are still buzzing after a strange cloud lit
- 17:33Speaker 2: up the sky early this morning, not just across the
- 17:36Speaker 2: northeast and central Florida, but it also could be seen
- 17:39Speaker 2: in the Tampa Bay area and as far north as
- 17:41Speaker 2: coastal Georgia. Check it out if you're watching us on
- 17:44Speaker 2: YouTube right now.
- 17:44Speaker 1: It is crazy looking. It looks enhanced. But that's exactly
- 17:47Speaker 1: like the photographs my daughter sent me.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so, forecasters say it formed hanging. I want to
- 17:52Speaker 3: take a look at the photo too. Oh, that is
- 17:54Speaker 3: just so cool.
- 17:54Speaker 1: It's crazy now.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Forecasters say it formed after a SpaceX Falcon nine launch
- 17:59Speaker 2: from Cape Navel just before sunrise. The rocket's exhaust was
- 18:02Speaker 2: illuminated by the sun, creating a bright jellyfish shape high
- 18:07Speaker 2: in the upper atmosphere. Meteorologists say this type of display
- 18:10Speaker 2: is known as a not to lucent cloud. Huh ah, huh,
- 18:16Speaker 2: not to lucent Jack behear's mind.
- 18:18Speaker 1: He's going just give him a second, so demanding?
- 18:22Speaker 3: Are you kidding him?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Was waiting thirty seconds, which can appear when launch debris
- 18:25Speaker 2: drifts into very cold air tens of miles above Earth.
- 18:29Speaker 2: So the question was asked, why didn't the Space Shuttle
- 18:32Speaker 2: kind of create these same effects, these same effects.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it turns out their.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Boosters didn't go as high SpaceX as boosters go about
- 18:39Speaker 2: double the height of what the space shuttles had gone into,
- 18:42Speaker 2: So they're in a much higher level of the atmosphere
- 18:45Speaker 2: where there's Yeah. So it just illuminates a lot brighter
- 18:48Speaker 2: than what the shuttle ever did, isn't it? And that
- 18:50Speaker 2: concludes your JCS news rocket.
- 18:55Speaker 1: All right for seven nine four one text seven to
- 18:57Speaker 1: seven zero three one. So now, so usually this happens
- 19:02Speaker 1: what I'm gonna talk about when we come back. This
- 19:03Speaker 1: happens to bigger entities, but now it's happening to smaller entities.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And I'll explain next.
- 19:26Speaker 6: What up, Jacs.
- 19:27Speaker 1: What I'm trying to get to.
- 19:28Speaker 6: This is as fast as possible the story about taking
- 19:31Speaker 6: his own life with the Hey, I I wanted to
- 19:33Speaker 6: laugh about it, but I as a thirty six year
- 19:35Speaker 6: old man myself, I know a lot of people at
- 19:37Speaker 6: my age that are lonely, that are those fifteen year
- 19:40Speaker 6: old boys that kind of never grew up, you know.
- 19:43Speaker 6: So I mean, it's just it's just sad that that's
- 19:46Speaker 6: the world that we leave in live in, you know. Definitely,
- 19:49Speaker 6: I feel like they should seek help. Uh And Jim Wow,
- 19:52Speaker 6: I'm ea to stop craying for them?
- 19:56Speaker 1: What was that? Buddy? All right for a seven nine
- 19:59Speaker 1: six four one text us at seven seven zero three one.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Welcome back. I'm Jim. There's deb hell now yea here
- 20:04Speaker 1: as well. You know I didn't hear the last part
- 20:07Speaker 1: of that thing. So, uh, Brevard County is going through
- 20:11Speaker 1: something kind of interesting over there, right, and so this
- 20:16Speaker 1: is and you know, my wife being in this business,
- 20:19Speaker 1: she kind of understands exactly how this kind of goes, right,
- 20:23Speaker 1: So a trademark dispute is unfolding over in Bivard County,
- 20:29Speaker 1: all right, all right, and there it's Brevard County schools.
- 20:32Speaker 1: They have a trademark dispute. What do you think I
- 20:34Speaker 1: mean by that? That's too tough. Let's just can let's
- 20:37Speaker 1: just move forward because we.
- 20:38Speaker 15: Have right, I looked at it.
- 20:41Speaker 1: It is a sports thing. So you know when you
- 20:45Speaker 1: deal with people that are counterfeiting products, right, as a rule,
- 20:49Speaker 1: it's luxury products, right, You're counterfeiting nice bags, You're counterfeiting
- 20:54Speaker 1: you know. Uh, we see this all the time with
- 20:56Speaker 1: like championship hats and shirts and stuff. I mean you
- 21:00Speaker 1: can go outside of the arena after shows sometimes and
- 21:03Speaker 1: see people who are who have printed counterfeit t shirts
- 21:06Speaker 1: for that particular show, whether it be Bad Bunny or
- 21:09Speaker 1: Metallica or whomever. Right, Yeah, well, that whole idea has
- 21:13Speaker 1: come to the small time like they're having a difficult
- 21:15Speaker 1: time of Bavard County because people are taking their school
- 21:18Speaker 1: logos from high schools and they're making counterfeit products and
- 21:23Speaker 1: selling it. They are it says about eighteen months ago,
- 21:26Speaker 1: school board chair Matt Susan started investigating while local school
- 21:31Speaker 1: logos were appearing on merchandise in major retail chains. Yeah. Holy,
- 21:35Speaker 1: without any formal district approval. By the way, those are copyrighted,
- 21:40Speaker 1: copyrighted products, those those logos for all the high schools
- 21:44Speaker 1: that you go to, whether it be here at Edgewar
- 21:47Speaker 1: High School or Doctor Phillips High School, Dumont Husky's nice.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I see the mount Door Hurricanes for sale at like
- 21:53Speaker 2: Walgreens and Target.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Well, if you go around any of the rural areas
- 21:57Speaker 1: where you know you don't have as many retail spots,
- 22:00Speaker 1: that's very common to see the local high school selling
- 22:03Speaker 1: in Walgreens. In CBS's they'll have a little kiosk that
- 22:08Speaker 1: has you know, for us, it would be it would
- 22:09Speaker 1: have been the Plata Panthers, it would have been ball hats,
- 22:11Speaker 1: T shirts, hoodies, maybe a drink wear and stuff like that.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And you're like, oh, yeah, sure, I'm gonna buy this.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I'm supporting the school by buying this. You know, whether
- 22:20Speaker 1: it be the band program, science program, girls sports, whatever
- 22:23Speaker 1: the case may be. You know, you wanted to help out,
- 22:26Speaker 1: So off you go, buying yourself a tea shirt or whatever.
- 22:28Speaker 1: It turns out they have a scourge of people who
- 22:31Speaker 1: are doing this and they're not getting any they're not
- 22:34Speaker 1: cutting the school in because that's what would happen. Like
- 22:37Speaker 1: you you're start in a print shop back in the day,
- 22:40Speaker 1: and when I worked when I lived in Petown, the
- 22:42Speaker 1: first job ever had was a guy who had a
- 22:44Speaker 1: screen printing job, you know, screenprinting chop, and that's what
- 22:47Speaker 1: you would do. You'd go to somewhere and say, hey,
- 22:48Speaker 1: look up print they's shirts, you know, and I'll sell
- 22:50Speaker 1: them for you. We can sell them wherever, and then
- 22:52Speaker 1: you just cut me in. I'm a price. I'll get
- 22:53Speaker 1: a percentage of it, You get a percentage of it,
- 22:55Speaker 1: and off we go. I'll assume the production cost. You
- 22:58Speaker 1: just let me use your logo. Oh because I don't
- 23:00Speaker 1: own it. You own it. I'll produce this, It'll cost
- 23:03Speaker 1: you nothing, and you becase you make a few bucks,
- 23:05Speaker 1: I'll make a few bucks. Will be good. That happen
- 23:07Speaker 1: all the time. These dudes are doing it. These people
- 23:09Speaker 1: are doing it, and they're not getting any permission. They're
- 23:11Speaker 1: not cutting the school in at all.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Does the school who know that who the producers are
- 23:16Speaker 2: so they can go after it?
- 23:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess they're looking at it right now, says
- 23:18Speaker 1: it's a large initiative to take back our logos. They're
- 23:21Speaker 1: printing our shirts and we don't have any idea where
- 23:24Speaker 1: it's coming from. The investigation revealed third party vendors have
- 23:27Speaker 1: been using the district school's trademarks to eat deals with
- 23:30Speaker 1: major retailers, often without the school system's knowledge or fair
- 23:34Speaker 1: share of the profits. So that's where they go. First.
- 23:37Speaker 1: You go to a major retailer, who do you have
- 23:39Speaker 1: the agreement with? Right?
- 23:41Speaker 4: And I mean, yeah, you just follow it back down
- 23:44Speaker 4: the line.
- 23:45Speaker 1: How long do you think this has been going on?
- 23:46Speaker 1: In some cases ten years? According to the district The
- 23:49Speaker 1: root of the problem lies in contacts that in some
- 23:51Speaker 1: cases go back I'll say twenty five twenty years. Oh wow,
- 23:56Speaker 1: decades old agreements between unauthorized vendors and stores allowed outside
- 24:00Speaker 1: companies generate significant revenue by using BPS and intellectual property.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Makes me wonder if those shirts and stuff I've seen
- 24:10Speaker 2: the high school has to be aware that the shop
- 24:12Speaker 2: at the same store.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And BPS is a Bervard public schools. I guess, so
- 24:15Speaker 1: it be happening in Bervard schools. I don't know how
- 24:17Speaker 1: many high schools Brevard County has. I know Orange County
- 24:20Speaker 1: has tons of them. I don't know how big Brevard is.
- 24:23Speaker 1: They got a few, yeah, one for each city. And
- 24:25Speaker 1: it says here, this is one of the reasons I
- 24:27Speaker 1: bring this up is for student athletes. The impact of
- 24:29Speaker 1: these on off right sales is felt directly on the
- 24:31Speaker 1: field end in the locker room when a fan buys
- 24:33Speaker 1: a shirt at a grocery store, like we're just saying,
- 24:35Speaker 1: rather than a school booster club, that money may never
- 24:38Speaker 1: reach the athletic department. And you know, one of the
- 24:40Speaker 1: reasons you hear all these arguments about the school only
- 24:43Speaker 1: paying attention to boys footballers, but that program finances a
- 24:47Speaker 1: lot of the other sports that the school gets to play,
- 24:50Speaker 1: whether it be the girls tennis team, lacrosse, water polo,
- 24:53Speaker 1: the sports that don't draw those big crowds and create
- 24:56Speaker 1: that revenue. You know, they still want those people to
- 24:58Speaker 1: be able to compete. Sometimes the budgets could cut real small,
- 25:01Speaker 1: so you know they kind of divvy that money up.
- 25:04Speaker 1: This is just stealing from the school systems in costing
- 25:07Speaker 1: students the ability or possibility of playing a sport they love. Well,
- 25:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 25:11Speaker 4: If it's costing then the practiciate they're just not benefiting
- 25:15Speaker 4: from a T shirt that was sold to somebody out.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean if that funding funds the lacrosse team,
- 25:22Speaker 1: and the lacrosse team, can't you know, pull it off
- 25:24Speaker 1: or are they cut the team because of funding, which
- 25:26Speaker 1: we know has happened. No, I get that.
- 25:28Speaker 4: However, if they're selling them under the guise of a
- 25:31Speaker 4: portion of your proceeds help support you know, athletics at
- 25:35Speaker 4: Lake Mary High or whatever, right, you know, then then
- 25:39Speaker 4: there's a deception. But I think people are assuming that
- 25:42Speaker 4: the school is getting money, but they're just buying it.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Oh but that's the whole point, I guess it, says
- 25:47Speaker 1: rees Hufti. Another student athlete echo that statement, saying schools
- 25:51Speaker 1: are being deprived of their fair share. The schools should
- 25:53Speaker 1: get the money it deserves the merchandise and its logos, absolutely,
- 25:56Speaker 1: and I wonder if the schools, or the school district
- 25:59Speaker 1: or the super intendents plan on going back and finding
- 26:02Speaker 1: these vendors and possibly suing to get this money back.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Somebody just texted us seven seven zero three one omg
- 26:10Speaker 2: R Middle school logo was hijacked and put on sexy
- 26:15Speaker 2: bras and thongs.
- 26:16Speaker 1: No get out of jack stop Jesus.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I read it just to hear that.
- 26:23Speaker 1: It says us getting those rights back in the ability
- 26:25Speaker 1: to sell them at VIIa High School of football games,
- 26:28Speaker 1: to be able to sell our own chirts there without
- 26:29Speaker 1: being in competition with everybody else. That's the goal. You know,
- 26:32Speaker 1: you shouldn't have to compete with a third party vendor
- 26:34Speaker 1: if you are the school and you own the product.
- 26:37Speaker 1: You shouldn't have to go into CVS and see a mark,
- 26:39Speaker 1: you know, a ripoff product sitting there.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Well.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Somebody also texted that the school board can't afford lawyers
- 26:45Speaker 2: to fight it and copyright.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Fort That's the other thing is I think you figure, Okay,
- 26:50Speaker 4: will the school really fight this?
- 26:52Speaker 1: They know what they're doing is wrong.
- 26:53Speaker 4: But it's like, are they going to have to face
- 26:56Speaker 4: a legal challenge or are they figured they'll just let
- 26:58Speaker 4: it go.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Well, in another part, This and Maybe This is the Answer,
- 27:01Speaker 1: Jack It says that while the district is currently focused
- 27:03Speaker 1: on removing unauthorized merchandise, the door isn't completely closed on
- 27:07Speaker 1: retail partnerships. This guy says he's opened negotiating new fair
- 27:11Speaker 1: contracts with the box stores that include proper profit sharing models.
- 27:14Speaker 1: In other words, he wants to go back and find
- 27:16Speaker 1: these people who've been doing this and saying, look, you
- 27:18Speaker 1: can't do this anymore. God, I don't know if we're
- 27:19Speaker 1: gonna go get you for the old money, but you're
- 27:21Speaker 1: not going forward anymore. We're gonna we're gonna put our
- 27:23Speaker 1: foot down here and we'll start, you know, we'll start
- 27:25Speaker 1: really policing this. But we would like, let's go to
- 27:28Speaker 1: make a deal. Let's just make a deal and make
- 27:29Speaker 1: money for everybody.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Brevard's school district. Where do you think it ranked among Florida?
- 27:34Speaker 4: If you figure each county is its own district, is
- 27:37Speaker 4: this quality seven counties?
- 27:38Speaker 1: Quality of education? I would say size on size. Wow,
- 27:44Speaker 1: there's so many small, little pissant areas up in the
- 27:46Speaker 1: North Florida in the Panhandle. Man, I gotta tell you,
- 27:51Speaker 1: probably isn't that bad. I'll go eighteenth ten. Wow.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Really, how many high schools do you think are located
- 27:57Speaker 4: in Brevard County?
- 27:58Speaker 9: Oh?
- 27:58Speaker 1: Man, oh god, I mean it can't be run twelve
- 28:04Speaker 1: twenty five? Damn really? WHOA, that's crazy. I never knew
- 28:09Speaker 1: it was that many. Wow, that's a lot.
- 28:11Speaker 4: D A couple of cities have two tides showers too. Melbourne,
- 28:14Speaker 4: Ye have a Galley High.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, man, that's crazy. I would have never
- 28:17Speaker 1: known it to be that many, though, says. In the meantime,
- 28:19Speaker 1: students and coaches will have a simple message for vans
- 28:21Speaker 1: if you want to support the local team, by your
- 28:23Speaker 1: gear directly from the school. And I think that would
- 28:26Speaker 1: have go out loud from here. Like if you're out
- 28:27Speaker 1: there in Brevard County and you walk into a store
- 28:30Speaker 1: and I would ask the manager do you have a
- 28:32Speaker 1: deal with the school? Do portions of these proceeds go
- 28:35Speaker 1: directly to the school? And if they don't, don't buy
- 28:38Speaker 1: it there. Just go to the school and buy it there.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. And the manager might not even know. Yeah,
- 28:41Speaker 1: bite not that you're right, yeah, not even know.
- 28:43Speaker 4: This was a deal set up by somewhere down the line,
- 28:46Speaker 4: and the product shows up, they put it on the shelf.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeap, all right? Four seven nine one six four one
- 28:50Speaker 1: text seven seven zero three one. Animal Houses next the
- 28:53Speaker 1: Central Florida Zoo joins us. Stick around. We'll do that
- 28:55Speaker 1: right after this.
- 29:00Speaker 17: Gasoline prices spiking four days into an international conflict is
- 29:05Speaker 17: profiteering by American companies, plain and simple. There's absolutely no
- 29:11Speaker 17: way that any bo bottlenecks in the strait of horror
- 29:15Speaker 17: moves or any other factor is causing a higher price
- 29:18Speaker 17: at the pump right now than taking some money, period.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Preach it, brother. All right, welcome back to the Jim
- 29:26Speaker 1: Colbert Show right here on Real Radio one or four
- 29:28Speaker 1: point one. Thanks so much for tuning in. We appreciate
- 29:30Speaker 1: that every single day. Guys love the choices out there.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Thanks for picking us. I'm Jim. There's deb Lo Jack's
- 29:36Speaker 1: ear as well. Low, Let's do Animal House.
- 29:40Speaker 3: She likes the fussy, free, feathery, tough and scaly.
- 29:45Speaker 12: It's time for Animal House with Roberts.
- 29:49Speaker 5: You know.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Animal House is generously brought to us each and every
- 29:52Speaker 2: week by personal injury attorney Glenn Klasman over at Klosmon Law.
- 29:55Speaker 2: We'll tell you how you can get in touch with
- 29:57Speaker 2: Glenn at the end of Animal House. But now please
- 29:59Speaker 2: join me and welcoming back Senior Ambassador Animal Keeper Christina
- 30:03Speaker 2: O'Donnell and team lead Zoo Educator Josh Brandell from the
- 30:07Speaker 2: Center Florida Zoo.
- 30:10Speaker 1: That's a whole lot.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Yeah, let me take a breath. How are you guys
- 30:15Speaker 2: doing doing well?
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yeah, good to see you guys, man, Yeah, yeah, I bet,
- 30:19Speaker 1: I bet the animals are as well, right, I bet
- 30:21Speaker 1: spring is like one of their favorite times of the year.
- 30:23Speaker 18: Absolutely not too hot, but definitely out of that cold snap.
- 30:26Speaker 3: But that's a really good question.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Did those like really because I mean, those were the
- 30:29Speaker 2: worst freezes that we've had in Florida in decades. Was
- 30:33Speaker 2: there a lot of concern at the Central Florida Zoo
- 30:35Speaker 2: for the animals.
- 30:36Speaker 18: It definitely made us manage them differently depending on the species.
- 30:40Speaker 18: But for like the Ambassador animals, every single one of
- 30:42Speaker 18: my animals were brought into the building or were locked
- 30:44Speaker 18: into their spaces during those cold nights, so they definitely
- 30:47Speaker 18: appreciate the warm weather and they have more.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Space oh yeah, sleep with them, do you like keepers Senior?
- 30:53Speaker 18: You know, we prep them as much as we can
- 30:55Speaker 18: and then we all go home and just check on
- 30:57Speaker 18: them again in the morning.
- 30:58Speaker 19: We only stay at the zoo if it's like a hurricane.
- 30:59Speaker 20: Right.
- 31:00Speaker 1: They're cams that you can log into and check out,
- 31:02Speaker 1: like if you need to.
- 31:04Speaker 18: For certain animals, if we really felt the need. But
- 31:06Speaker 18: for the most part, our animals are pretty status quo.
- 31:08Speaker 1: So we're oh, you guys should do that. You guys
- 31:09Speaker 1: should open on you guys should only fans. I'm dead
- 31:16Speaker 1: this is not a joke, dead serious. If you put
- 31:18Speaker 1: up a cam for every animal up there and then
- 31:21Speaker 1: charge to have access to those cams so you can
- 31:23Speaker 1: flip around on some of the monkeys or the or
- 31:25Speaker 1: the rhinos doing that's a that is a million dollar ideas.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Should do it.
- 31:29Speaker 19: We'll send it to our media guys.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean when you think of how you know,
- 31:32Speaker 2: popular the eagle cams are and stuff, Yeah.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I mean the trail cams. Do you go on YouTube
- 31:36Speaker 1: you look at trail cams have millions of views and
- 31:39Speaker 1: I'm like half of them. I love it.
- 31:41Speaker 2: So it's not an egle obviously, But but what animal
- 31:44Speaker 2: ambassador did you bring in today? Because it's a it's
- 31:46Speaker 2: a unlike anything I've ever seen.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I will tell you this. Ever, I don't know about that,
- 31:50Speaker 1: but I know this, this animal, whatever it is, has
- 31:53Speaker 1: the coolest enclosure they've ever brought to the studio.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's sweetheart.
- 31:58Speaker 1: This thing looks fake. It looks like something that somebody
- 32:00Speaker 1: would make for this as a display for this.
- 32:03Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 18: So I actually just readid this the other day. It
- 32:06Speaker 18: thought he was coming out. I should give him a
- 32:07Speaker 18: fresh new dig. But this is a white tree frog,
- 32:10Speaker 18: and so he is kind of hanging out in the
- 32:13Speaker 18: front here.
- 32:14Speaker 3: He's blending in a little bit right now.
- 32:15Speaker 18: He's this preay green, but he can actually get this
- 32:17Speaker 18: really dark brown purple color when he is hanging out
- 32:20Speaker 18: under his hide and logs.
- 32:22Speaker 19: But he s also be this really bright green. But
- 32:23Speaker 19: he's a white tree frog.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Why is it White's tree frog?
- 32:27Speaker 19: We were talking about this on the way here.
- 32:28Speaker 18: So the guy who discovered him was a naturalist named
- 32:30Speaker 18: John White, So they named it after the guy who
- 32:32Speaker 18: named him.
- 32:33Speaker 19: But you know, of course, a very non super Now.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I walk over a second ago during the break and
- 32:38Speaker 1: I looked into the front and the tree frog. What's
- 32:40Speaker 1: his name?
- 32:41Speaker 19: Irwin?
- 32:42Speaker 1: Erwin very nice was sitting there, and then when I moved,
- 32:44Speaker 1: when I came around there, like he backed up like
- 32:47Speaker 1: and he's got big black eyes. He looked kind of
- 32:49Speaker 1: alien actually, like your stereotypical like alien from Roswell.
- 32:53Speaker 2: He heard you like actually does him. It was fascinating
- 32:57Speaker 2: to see though. Literally as Jim walked up on the frog,
- 33:00Speaker 2: the frog like was like, yeah, so they're.
- 33:04Speaker 18: Very interesting looking animals. His name's Irwin to in honor
- 33:08Speaker 18: of like Robert Irwin. So they're from Australia and New Guinea,
- 33:11Speaker 18: so they're also introduced to New Zealand. But his name
- 33:15Speaker 18: is Irwin for that fact. But he's very interesting looking.
- 33:17Speaker 18: There's all college sometimes called dumpy frogs because which seems
- 33:22Speaker 18: like a really mean name for them, but it's just
- 33:23Speaker 18: because their shape is kind of just like this blobular.
- 33:26Speaker 1: You know, I feel a lot when this year this
- 33:30Speaker 1: is the in cell frog.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Yeah, set now this is Yeah.
- 33:34Speaker 1: What's unique about the white tree frog because I mean
- 33:37Speaker 1: it looks like a regular just like a like tree
- 33:39Speaker 1: frog we see in Florida. This is kind of a
- 33:41Speaker 1: slimy as looking thing that could stick to any surface.
- 33:44Speaker 18: Yeah, So, I mean, he's not anything like super duper unique,
- 33:48Speaker 18: but he's a great component for the ecosystem because they're
- 33:51Speaker 18: great bioindicators. So they tell whether or not a population
- 33:54Speaker 18: or an ecosystem is healthy because they're really susceptible to
- 33:57Speaker 18: changes any type of pollution because they can and absorb
- 34:01Speaker 18: water and things through their skin. So if your waterways
- 34:03Speaker 18: aren't healthy, then they're not healthy and that's a huge
- 34:05Speaker 18: problem for your ecosystem. So they're a great bioindicator. We
- 34:08Speaker 18: were reading a lot of cool things about their mating,
- 34:10Speaker 18: which is pretty unique.
- 34:12Speaker 19: But Josh can tell you more about that.
- 34:14Speaker 1: He was reading really big frog mating eyes.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Christina has told me before she's like with everyone she
- 34:24Speaker 2: brings out with the zoo, she's like, you need to
- 34:26Speaker 2: find a really interesting fact about them, and they're likely
- 34:29Speaker 2: to do it they're mating or their genitalia a right,
- 34:31Speaker 2: So we're going to get the question.
- 34:32Speaker 1: So why is the whites free for a free Oh
- 34:35Speaker 1: my god. The White's tree frog so unique in its
- 34:38Speaker 1: mating habits.
- 34:38Speaker 22: So he's got those sticky toepads. Now during mating season,
- 34:42Speaker 22: he's going to get a special toepad. Oh wow, he's
- 34:45Speaker 22: actually grabbing girl frogs. So he's basically just going to
- 34:49Speaker 22: grab onto that female frog and hold onto her for.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Days, days, yes, days, and find a nice little pond together.
- 35:00Speaker 1: It's like me in my middle, is she He's gonna
- 35:03Speaker 1: do his thing.
- 35:03Speaker 22: And then she is actually gonna shoot the eggs out
- 35:06Speaker 22: of her body up to a foot and a half away,
- 35:08Speaker 22: So it is like an.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Explosive shooting them out.
- 35:11Speaker 22: Yeah, up to three hundred eggs and then those are
- 35:14Speaker 22: all gonna hat.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, she's got an egg canon. So where does she
- 35:20Speaker 1: shoot them? Like, do they adhere to something or did
- 35:22Speaker 1: you shoot them into the ether.
- 35:23Speaker 22: She's gonna kind of just do it into like a
- 35:25Speaker 22: puddle or like a poke or something, and it's gonna
- 35:27Speaker 22: sink to the bottom.
- 35:29Speaker 1: She's gonna leave.
- 35:29Speaker 22: She doesn't want three hundred kids to take care of her,
- 35:31Speaker 22: you know, She's.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Gonna just leave them.
- 35:33Speaker 22: They'll hatch and then tadpoles and a couple of weeks
- 35:36Speaker 22: later adult frogs.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Wow, really, there's no adult there's no adult involvement or
- 35:42Speaker 2: supervision at all.
- 35:44Speaker 18: But it's crazy that they hatch within twenty to thirty
- 35:46Speaker 18: six hours, which is amazing.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Is that the fastest you've ever heard of an incubation
- 35:51Speaker 2: period anywhere pretty much in the animal world, Avian, I've
- 35:54Speaker 2: never heard that.
- 35:55Speaker 19: I've read.
- 35:56Speaker 18: I mean, I don't quote me that that is the fastest,
- 35:59Speaker 18: but I definitely that. I'm like, wow, because I mean,
- 36:01Speaker 18: elephants are like a year and a half, and then
- 36:03Speaker 18: you've got this frog who's like twenty eight thirty six
- 36:05Speaker 18: hours and doing.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Your own gender reveal if you go to an inn action.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Real ready FM slash watch Jack actually has the frog
- 36:12Speaker 1: came out right now and it is it is dumpy, by.
- 36:14Speaker 2: The way, don't say that, no, wonder he backed up
- 36:16Speaker 2: away from you guys. Have you guys ever witnessed this
- 36:19Speaker 2: mating ritual or when?
- 36:21Speaker 18: Is the only one that we currently have So we
- 36:23Speaker 18: have not because we assume that it's a boy.
- 36:25Speaker 19: We actually didn't do a specific gender testing.
- 36:27Speaker 23: We just assume.
- 36:28Speaker 19: I guess we shouldn't assume pronouns.
- 36:32Speaker 18: Yeah, we just always say him. We just say Irwin.
- 36:34Speaker 18: Irwin sounds more like a man's name, so we just
- 36:36Speaker 18: say Irwin. So we have not seen any eggs. So
- 36:39Speaker 18: I have not personally witnessed any of that.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Wow, because that'd be something to see.
- 36:43Speaker 19: It may be the site No.
- 36:44Speaker 1: You said that. Okay, So do she like injects the
- 36:47Speaker 1: eggs like immediately after the encounter with the male or.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Is the sticky pads let go?
- 36:51Speaker 22: So they're there together for days, so it's kind of Oh,
- 36:55Speaker 22: I say, it takes some time.
- 36:56Speaker 1: And when he when he goes, it's ready to go. Yeah,
- 36:59Speaker 1: so I'm it is the entire process is just like
- 37:02Speaker 1: a couple of days and that's it. Yeah, damn dude.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Like I was going to say, like spring break, which
- 37:07Speaker 2: is a segue into what you guys are for spring
- 37:10Speaker 2: break at the Central Florida Zoo.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Josh, what you got going on?
- 37:12Speaker 22: Yeah, we've got some super exciting stuff coming up for
- 37:15Speaker 22: spring break. So spring break camp registration is open. So
- 37:18Speaker 22: if you're looking for a way to get rid of
- 37:19Speaker 22: your kids for the week, we got educators ready for him.
- 37:22Speaker 22: I was actually looking at the camps just the last
- 37:25Speaker 22: couple of days and they look like a fun time.
- 37:28Speaker 1: But they fill up fast, they feel fast, and that
- 37:32Speaker 1: really does beat a banning them at the mall.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you mean, like how what our parents did?
- 37:36Speaker 1: Tried it so many times, but.
- 37:38Speaker 22: You're not ready to let them go on their own yet.
- 37:41Speaker 22: That's okay, So our zoo is actually staying open late
- 37:44Speaker 22: during spring break, so until five pm. So bring them
- 37:47Speaker 22: out and have a whole day there.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Oh that's cool.
- 37:50Speaker 22: Want somebody during the night time. On the fourteenth, we're
- 37:54Speaker 22: actually doing a night hike at the zoo. Let me
- 37:56Speaker 22: tell you, the zoo is an entirely new world that night.
- 37:59Speaker 14: It is.
- 37:59Speaker 1: It's very cool.
- 38:00Speaker 22: So we'll be having up close animal encounters. And we're
- 38:03Speaker 22: actually partnering with Seminole State College and they are bringing
- 38:06Speaker 22: out a giant telescope star watching.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Yeah, very cool. And you guys have some cool space
- 38:11Speaker 1: out there for that. That the parking lot area out
- 38:13Speaker 1: there in the Debt Center that and that's a super
- 38:15Speaker 1: dark area of Seminole County. So it's really cool. And
- 38:18Speaker 1: by the way, we've had that that club come out
- 38:20Speaker 1: before to one of my kids elementary schools and they
- 38:22Speaker 1: sell They set up multiple telescopes aimed at different selestial
- 38:28Speaker 1: bodies and it was one of the coolest events I've
- 38:30Speaker 1: ever been to an all my kids' school life.
- 38:33Speaker 14: It was.
- 38:33Speaker 1: It was super badass. So that's a really cool addition
- 38:36Speaker 1: to that.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Now, is that an extra cost outside of your ticket too?
- 38:40Speaker 1: It is an extra event.
- 38:42Speaker 22: It's about between thirty and thirty five dollars, depending if
- 38:45Speaker 22: you're a pass holder or not. But let me tell
- 38:47Speaker 22: you it is well worth it. You are meeting animals
- 38:49Speaker 22: up close. Yeah, you're doing a whole tour in the zoo.
- 38:52Speaker 22: And then you get to the telescope and they have
- 38:54Speaker 22: it lined up and ready for you, so you don't
- 38:55Speaker 22: even have to struggle to fight.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Yeah, very cool.
- 38:57Speaker 3: That is cool.
- 38:58Speaker 2: And then not only that, what do you ice have
- 39:00Speaker 2: coming up for your Easter event?
- 39:02Speaker 14: Oh?
- 39:03Speaker 18: Yeah, we have Hippity Hop is always a fun event
- 39:05Speaker 18: for sure. That's coming back this year, so we'll be
- 39:08Speaker 18: out there with we have bunnies and ambassador departments, so
- 39:10Speaker 18: we'll have our bunnies out which is always fun.
- 39:13Speaker 19: But that is just around the corner. Spring is just
- 39:17Speaker 19: you know, I.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Know, don't hop away. It's April fourth. Is the Hippity
- 39:21Speaker 3: Hop their easter event.
- 39:22Speaker 1: That'll be there before you know it's yeah, yeah, Hey,
- 39:24Speaker 1: is the the rhinos still there? Right?
- 39:26Speaker 14: Yeah? Yeah?
- 39:27Speaker 1: Because he didn't. You guys have a problem with the
- 39:29Speaker 1: They're waiting.
- 39:29Speaker 3: For him to slim down so they can get him
- 39:31Speaker 3: in his.
- 39:32Speaker 1: The closure was too small or something, right, Only you.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Would bring up someone else's way.
- 39:35Speaker 1: To get Yeah, yeah, dumpy rhinos and frogs. Yeah.
- 39:39Speaker 18: So PJ is still with us for a little while longer.
- 39:41Speaker 18: We wanted to let him stay in Florida. What was
- 39:44Speaker 18: nice and cool up in New York, although he may
- 39:47Speaker 18: have you know, we may have brought some of those
- 39:48Speaker 18: vibes down here, so they got very cold here as well.
- 39:51Speaker 3: But he will be.
- 39:52Speaker 19: Slated to leave in the spring.
- 39:53Speaker 18: We don't have an exact day just yet, but we
- 39:55Speaker 18: had to acquire a different crate.
- 39:58Speaker 19: You give him more space.
- 39:59Speaker 1: But I'm happy for that because I mean, you know,
- 40:00Speaker 1: obviously he has to be a pretty big drawl, right,
- 40:02Speaker 1: I mean, it has to be one of the more
- 40:03Speaker 1: popular animals out there. I know, the girafts are very popular, right.
- 40:07Speaker 18: Yeah, yeah, And I mean PJ he is just quite
- 40:09Speaker 18: a handful.
- 40:09Speaker 19: If you go when you went to Bruce, he was
- 40:11Speaker 19: just running around.
- 40:12Speaker 18: He they just put a new video out not that
- 40:14Speaker 18: long ago with a new and Richmond toy that he
- 40:16Speaker 18: was playing with and you know.
- 40:17Speaker 1: It's like a big ball or something.
- 40:19Speaker 18: So it actually was a piece from the playground, so
- 40:21Speaker 18: the kids playground, where like the kids would go through it.
- 40:23Speaker 18: It was kind of like a little bridge tunnel thing
- 40:25Speaker 18: between two sections of the playground, but it had a crack,
- 40:28Speaker 18: so it wasn't safe for kids. And they were like
- 40:29Speaker 18: the rhinos, that's fine. He was passing it around like nothing.
- 40:34Speaker 18: Yeah for him, that's lightweight, that's just a regular toy.
- 40:37Speaker 18: And he had a time with that.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Let me ask me. They looked so ominous and they
- 40:40Speaker 1: looked so dangerous. What is there? What are they really?
- 40:44Speaker 1: Is there?
- 40:45Speaker 2: A horn is really used for rooting vegetable plants and bugs, right,
- 40:49Speaker 2: It's it's not for defense.
- 40:50Speaker 1: What is their demeanor?
- 40:51Speaker 19: It depends on the animal.
- 40:54Speaker 18: And obviously animal under human care are going to have
- 40:56Speaker 18: a different response to people than if you went out
- 40:58Speaker 18: into a savannah and found obviously so. But I mean
- 41:01Speaker 18: baby rhinos are called tank puppies, so I mean.
- 41:04Speaker 19: They're a horrible things. There are just a ton of fun.
- 41:07Speaker 18: If you ever watched little videos of baby rhinos, they
- 41:10Speaker 18: are a fantastic time and there's so much fun to watch.
- 41:13Speaker 1: How much training do you have to have to be
- 41:15Speaker 1: in the enclosure with the rhino? I mean, I'm sure
- 41:17Speaker 1: they're probably only only a handful of people on earth
- 41:20Speaker 1: that are able to do that, right, I mean, there
- 41:22Speaker 1: has to be a lot of specialized training because there's
- 41:23Speaker 1: the damn big and dangerous. Even if they weren't trying
- 41:25Speaker 1: to hurt you think it could.
- 41:26Speaker 18: Yeah, So for most easy A facilities, we do protected
- 41:29Speaker 18: contact and so we're not actually within the same space
- 41:31Speaker 18: with them. But you can do certain things where you
- 41:34Speaker 18: have access to certain body parts.
- 41:35Speaker 19: So there's ballards that they.
- 41:36Speaker 18: Use that are the really big metal bars, and that
- 41:40Speaker 18: is to withstand the weight and you know, strength of
- 41:42Speaker 18: a rhino.
- 41:43Speaker 19: But it gives you enough space.
- 41:44Speaker 18: Previous facilities I've worked out, we've done like ultrasounds and
- 41:47Speaker 18: blood draws and all these things where you could do
- 41:48Speaker 18: tactile and touch the rhino, but you obviously wanted to
- 41:51Speaker 18: make sure. I always told guests if we let them
- 41:53Speaker 18: touch a rhino that you weren't to have your hand
- 41:56Speaker 18: between the rhino and a bar, because even if they
- 41:57Speaker 18: were like ooh, that feels great and they lean in, done,
- 42:02Speaker 18: you are done.
- 42:03Speaker 1: But it could easily like flip a car over that horn, right,
- 42:06Speaker 1: that strong, no problem whatsoever.
- 42:08Speaker 19: Yeah, they are so strong.
- 42:09Speaker 18: I mean if you again watch this video that the
- 42:12Speaker 18: media just put out for our zoo, and he's just
- 42:14Speaker 18: tossing around this gigantic thing that I mean took multiple
- 42:17Speaker 18: people to live closure. Like it's huge and it's heavy,
- 42:20Speaker 18: and he's tossing it around like it's just a.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Reb Yeah, he's like whims.
- 42:25Speaker 2: So where do folks go to get more information about
- 42:27Speaker 2: where to register for this spring break camp, summer camps hip,
- 42:30Speaker 2: theap Adventure, and that night hike under the stars?
- 42:33Speaker 22: Yeah, if you look up Central Florida Zoo Events or
- 42:36Speaker 22: Central Florida Zoo spring Break Camp. Literally just do Central
- 42:38Speaker 22: Florida Zoo and then what you're looking for and you'll
- 42:41Speaker 22: be able to find anything you want. But the events
- 42:43Speaker 22: page is definitely the best place to start.
- 42:45Speaker 18: Yeah, Central Florida Zoo dot org. And then we have
- 42:47Speaker 18: the search option and a lot of times our media
- 42:49Speaker 18: is really fantastic. I've been giving them a lot of shoutouts.
- 42:52Speaker 18: But he's been doing a great job.
- 42:53Speaker 19: That's awesome. But he puts it right in the front.
- 42:55Speaker 18: So spring Break's listed right on the front, the night
- 42:57Speaker 18: hikes listed right on your side.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Is fantastic.
- 43:00Speaker 1: It is unbelievably good. It's so easy to navigate Central
- 43:04Speaker 1: Florida Zoo dot org. Guys, it is so easy. You
- 43:06Speaker 1: can set up for every camp there, you can get
- 43:08Speaker 1: all the information, you can buy your tickets. Everything is
- 43:11Speaker 1: right there.
- 43:11Speaker 2: And I'll of course be posting the Animal House podcast
- 43:14Speaker 2: in just a couple of minutes, but until then, put

- 43:49Speaker 2: why year after year he's voted super lawyer and legal Elite.
- 43:52Speaker 2: He truly is an animal lover and truly is a

- 44:58Speaker 8: How do you not shake your booty?
- 45:00Speaker 1: That song too good?
- 45:01Speaker 10: Right?
- 45:01Speaker 1: It's too good?
- 45:02Speaker 8: Yeah, but nobody wants to see that.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I don't know. It was kind of fun to watch.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I've never even do that before. I mean, I never
- 45:08Speaker 1: saw you do the shoulder show anybuddy.
- 45:10Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't. The people say dance like no one's watching.
- 45:13Speaker 8: I just think no one should watch me dances.
- 45:17Speaker 1: When you look when you and the wife because your
- 45:18Speaker 1: brig cruiser, like we liked a cruise actually going in?
- 45:21Speaker 1: Uh going in a month or so are we or
- 45:25Speaker 1: what ship are you guys? What are you doing?
- 45:27Speaker 8: No, I'm kind of making a joke because we go
- 45:29Speaker 8: every month. But yes, it's usually Utopia on the weekend.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Oh, very nice.
- 45:34Speaker 8: So we'll be going Friday. That's why I'm that's why
- 45:37Speaker 8: I'm so sad. I'm gonna miss the Bourbon bus this week.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Oh that's right, that's right, you're taking off. Yeah, that's
- 45:41Speaker 1: gonna be fun. Man, we can't wait.
- 45:42Speaker 8: We just I bet it's gonna be a lot of
- 45:45Speaker 8: And we just added a.
- 45:45Speaker 1: New little prize too. I'm sure Jack can probably weasel.
- 45:47Speaker 1: You want to be asciral? Nice, we'll see what happened,
- 45:51Speaker 1: I think.
- 45:52Speaker 8: And you're starting at forward slash, don't I remember that correctly?
- 45:55Speaker 1: Yes?
- 45:55Speaker 8: Yeah, and that is you're starting there on this weekend
- 45:59Speaker 8: and then Thursday night a week from tomorrow, that's when
- 46:04Speaker 8: we're on quirking the Sentinel Bourbon.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Well cool, that's awesome, Watchdog.
- 46:10Speaker 8: So next week we're gonna finally taste.
- 46:12Speaker 4: That is it a great name for that? By the way,
- 46:14Speaker 4: is that a private party?
- 46:17Speaker 8: That one? I believe is. But there is going to
- 46:20Speaker 8: be some public events. In fact, we had a one
- 46:22Speaker 8: last week at ten ten that was a public event.
- 46:25Speaker 8: Anybody could buy the Sentinel beer the Orange County Reporter.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Which very cool.
- 46:31Speaker 8: That was the original name of the of the Sentinel
- 46:34Speaker 8: one hundred and fifty years ago.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Was it really? Oh crazy?
- 46:37Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 46:37Speaker 8: Yeah, I think I told you. Of all the names,
- 46:39Speaker 8: I like old Watchdog the probably the best. But the
- 46:43Speaker 8: ice cream that Charlie's Bakery, it has a pretty cute name.
- 46:46Speaker 8: It's the Sentinel scoop.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Oh nice, nice, that's awesome man.
- 46:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 46:52Speaker 1: So when you go cruising, do you do you dance
- 46:54Speaker 1: on the cruise lines because you know that nobody's going
- 46:56Speaker 1: to recognize you there so you can get loose as
- 46:58Speaker 1: your wife a dancer. A.
- 47:00Speaker 8: First of all, that is not true. And in fact,
- 47:03Speaker 8: one time when I was I don't know, unshaven and
- 47:06Speaker 8: I don't know, three beers deep at ten o'clock in
- 47:09Speaker 8: the morning, somebody walked over to a slot machine and said,
- 47:12Speaker 8: this is true. I heard you getting excited about the bonus.
- 47:16Speaker 8: Are you the same guy who calls into real radio
- 47:18Speaker 8: every radio?
- 47:20Speaker 1: Why did you know your name that you said? You're
- 47:22Speaker 1: the same guy.
- 47:24Speaker 8: He knew it afterwards, and he was very nice. But
- 47:26Speaker 8: you never know who you're gonna meet. I lost a wallet.
- 47:30Speaker 8: It was a little just a little cruise wallet. It
- 47:32Speaker 8: didn't have anything like what one credit card in a port,
- 47:36Speaker 8: not on the ship, in a port in Cosammel one time,
- 47:40Speaker 8: and a very nice, very drunk lady came up to
- 47:44Speaker 8: me later and she said, are you Scott Marshall. I
- 47:49Speaker 8: was like, thank god, no I'm not because I don't
- 47:51Speaker 8: know where this conversation's going. And she's like, we found
- 47:54Speaker 8: your wallet in Cosammel and we brought it back on.
- 47:57Speaker 1: The Shipow, that's awesome.
- 48:01Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 48:01Speaker 8: So you never know who you're gonna know, But not
- 48:04Speaker 8: that often. We have done a couple of the line
- 48:06Speaker 8: dancing classes. You know, if you're if you're with a
- 48:10Speaker 8: bunch of other people, I can handle that, but uh,
- 48:12Speaker 8: I'm not. I don't know that I'm a.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Dance Oh yeah.
- 48:14Speaker 4: Yeah, well that's why I think line dancing. I'm excited
- 48:17Speaker 4: about that. It's antsing MC numbers. Yeah, you know, it's
- 48:21Speaker 4: like an Elvis painting on a dance floor, a great
- 48:23Speaker 4: entry way, a way to get into the world of dancing.
- 48:26Speaker 4: Because people who dance have more fun in life.
- 48:28Speaker 1: It's a fact.
- 48:29Speaker 8: Yeah, it is a that is absolute true. And I
- 48:31Speaker 8: got to tell you I like to act that.
- 48:34Speaker 24: You know.
- 48:34Speaker 8: I'm like, I'm better. I don't need to do any
- 48:36Speaker 8: of that until I see about eighty five people doing
- 48:39Speaker 8: the wobble, and then I want to wobble.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Let me tell you something else. I don't care who
- 48:45Speaker 1: you are, who you're married to. Your wife likes to
- 48:48Speaker 1: see you dance. Women like men who dance, and men
- 48:52Speaker 1: who can dance well can do other things well as well.
- 48:55Speaker 3: That's the same. Indeed, you dance on the dance floor, right,
- 49:00Speaker 3: you dance in the sheet.
- 49:01Speaker 1: That's right, player, So just step keep on wobbling.
- 49:04Speaker 8: Okay, it looks fun, and I do think it's true
- 49:07Speaker 8: that if you're having fun, it doesn't really matter what
- 49:09Speaker 8: it does. Not look like you it's contagious.
- 49:12Speaker 1: Man, I love dancing. I don't give a damn who watches.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I love doing it. I dance all the time. I
- 49:16Speaker 1: dance on the way out of this building every day.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Scott does right for The Orlando Sentinel in your column today.
- 49:22Speaker 1: I think he's kind of interesting. And really, you and
- 49:25Speaker 1: I had a brief conversation this morning via text about this.
- 49:28Speaker 1: And this is a you wrote this morning about the
- 49:30Speaker 1: scammer that just got busted. This guy got three hundred
- 49:32Speaker 1: and twenty million dollars from Goliath Ventures. Is it del
- 49:36Speaker 1: Gatto's his name or something?
- 49:38Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, Christopher Delgado.
- 49:40Speaker 1: And your piece was about him and how really you
- 49:43Speaker 1: know he he not encompasses, but the whole idea that
- 49:47Speaker 1: he was able to pull this off in this town
- 49:49Speaker 1: and in line with other people who have done the
- 49:51Speaker 1: same thing.
- 49:53Speaker 8: Yes, And I'll start by saying, he's only been arrested
- 49:57Speaker 8: for three hundred and twenty eight million dollar fraud, not
- 49:59Speaker 8: convicted of anything. Yeah, yeah, but the Feds certainly say
- 50:02Speaker 8: he's doing he did a lot wrong. And what struck
- 50:05Speaker 8: me is that he followed, as you said, in a
- 50:07Speaker 8: long line of sort of accused and convicted con men
- 50:12Speaker 8: in Central Florida, and the way that a lot of
- 50:14Speaker 8: these guys are able to do. It is just by
- 50:16Speaker 8: throwing a little money around, and it's not that much money,
- 50:20Speaker 8: particularly in Orlando's charity scene, because you know, if you
- 50:24Speaker 8: live in New York City, a million dollar donation nobody's
- 50:27Speaker 8: blanket and eye. But this is still a small town
- 50:30Speaker 8: in a lot of ways, and you can drop fifty
- 50:32Speaker 8: grand one night and all of a sudden become a
- 50:34Speaker 8: big deal. And that's not an exaggeration, that's an actual example.
- 50:38Speaker 8: I remember I was at an event. It was a
- 50:40Speaker 8: roast for Mayor Buddy Dyer, was a fundraiser for the
- 50:43Speaker 8: Paramour Kids Zone to serve under Serve kids. It was,
- 50:47Speaker 8: I mean, a very worthy thing. And all of a
- 50:49Speaker 8: sudden there was a Harley Davidson bike up and this
- 50:52Speaker 8: was the big item for a bit at the auction,
- 50:55Speaker 8: and all of a sudden, a guy virtually nobody knew
- 50:58Speaker 8: at that time. This was fifteen, this was a long
- 51:00Speaker 8: time ago. A guy named Frank Almadeo bid forty thousand
- 51:04Speaker 8: dollars and won the bike, and all of a sudden,
- 51:06Speaker 8: he's the biggest swing. And you know what, in a
- 51:09Speaker 8: room that's got every mayor in town, every CEO in town,
- 51:12Speaker 8: forty grand is all it took Frank Almadeo came out
- 51:15Speaker 8: of nowhere. He did this and ended up being convicted
- 51:18Speaker 8: in one of the biggest payroll tax fraud cases in
- 51:20Speaker 8: US history. Went to prison for about a decade at least.
- 51:25Speaker 8: I think that was it. And he's not alone. I mean,
- 51:28Speaker 8: lou Pearlman was another guy who threw a few bucks
- 51:31Speaker 8: around town for charities and things like that. Politicians. That's
- 51:35Speaker 8: the other thing. It doesn't take that much money to
- 51:37Speaker 8: give to a politician in Florida or Central Florida and
- 51:41Speaker 8: all of a sudden become a heavy hitter.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Yeah, you ingratiate yourself to these people. And look, we
- 51:45Speaker 1: have a lot of these black tie esque kind of
- 51:48Speaker 1: events throughout Orlando that happened every single year. Everybody who's
- 51:51Speaker 1: in the know in the city of Orlando and Central
- 51:54Speaker 1: Florida knows these events. And if you go to these events,
- 51:56Speaker 1: you're going to bump into the big lawyers, the big politicians,
- 51:59Speaker 1: the move and jiggers in business. And you know, it
- 52:03Speaker 1: is kind of you know, when you brought that up
- 52:04Speaker 1: to me, I'd never thought about that before, because even
- 52:06Speaker 1: goes back to Glenn Turner back in the day. Now,
- 52:08Speaker 1: I don't know if he was splashing around cash to
- 52:10Speaker 1: impress politicians, but he was yet another con man in
- 52:12Speaker 1: the line. But you know how this does kind of
- 52:15Speaker 1: happen to Orlando, and how cheap it is to get
- 52:17Speaker 1: into that world. I mean, if you told dudes they
- 52:20Speaker 1: could come into town and them buy themselves into the
- 52:24Speaker 1: into the media aristocracy of Orlando, in other words, be
- 52:27Speaker 1: able to rub shoulders with the people who matter for
- 52:29Speaker 1: forty grand I bet there'd be a line from here
- 52:31Speaker 1: to North Carolina.
- 52:32Speaker 8: Well, that's right, and think about the numbers we're talking about.
- 52:34Speaker 8: Think about one hundred, think about two hundred thousand dollars.
- 52:36Speaker 8: If you're talking about it takes you two hundred thousand
- 52:39Speaker 8: to break into the upper echelon for a scheme that
- 52:41Speaker 8: the Fed said was worth three hundred and twenty eight
- 52:44Speaker 8: million dollars. That's literally rounds to zero on that. I mean,
- 52:49Speaker 8: that's that's nothing. And the way I sort of began
- 52:51Speaker 8: this column is that I didn't know this guy Delgado,
- 52:54Speaker 8: but about a year a little more than a year ago,
- 52:57Speaker 8: his PR firm started making a pitch that we should
- 53:01Speaker 8: write his life story about how he'd gone rags riches
- 53:05Speaker 8: and become a big philanthropic force in central Florida. And
- 53:09Speaker 8: keep in mind, the philanthropic force at this point in
- 53:11Speaker 8: time I think was like one hundred thousand or two
- 53:13Speaker 8: hundred thousand dollars. Once again, nothing to sneeze that, but
- 53:17Speaker 8: a drop in the bucket for what somebody's said. And
- 53:20Speaker 8: what struck me about the release is when I was
- 53:22Speaker 8: looking at the list of charities that it said he
- 53:24Speaker 8: supported at the time, they were the ones that attracted
- 53:28Speaker 8: sort of the highest ticket, the ones that were the
- 53:31Speaker 8: pictures show up in the glossy magazines. Right, You're going
- 53:33Speaker 8: to get a picture next to a former magic player
- 53:36Speaker 8: or a CEO or the you know, the.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Standing in front of your winter park mansion, next to
- 53:41Speaker 1: your really nice car with one foot over the other,
- 53:43Speaker 1: you know, checking your watch.
- 53:45Speaker 8: And I'm not taking anything away from these charities. I've
- 53:48Speaker 8: been involved. I was on stage from one of them
- 53:51Speaker 8: last year. But I just know they're the kind that
- 53:54Speaker 8: if you were looking to get attention. And so when
- 53:56Speaker 8: we got this release, this is a year ago, before
- 53:58Speaker 8: anybody said anything, I actually sent a note an email
- 54:01Speaker 8: to the rest of the staff, and you know, since
- 54:03Speaker 8: they were being pitched on writing a story, I said
- 54:05Speaker 8: I'm not saying anything good or bad. I'm just saying
- 54:09Speaker 8: if you were looking for bougie charities to try to
- 54:11Speaker 8: make a name from yourself, these are the ones that
- 54:14Speaker 8: he would support. And we did not tell his life
- 54:16Speaker 8: story as the new rags to riches philanthropists, And as
- 54:20Speaker 8: it turns out, that's exactly why he was doing it.
- 54:22Speaker 8: The FED specifically said in their criminal complaint, their charging
- 54:27Speaker 8: document that he was buying access and high profile at
- 54:30Speaker 8: these charity events, and some of the victims said in
- 54:33Speaker 8: the thing, that's why I trusted him because I saw
- 54:36Speaker 8: him on stage at this black tie event, I saw
- 54:39Speaker 8: his name associated with the chair. I thought he was
- 54:41Speaker 8: legitimate because he was supporting these things. And that's a
- 54:44Speaker 8: cheap way to buy legitimacy all things. And it's also ugly.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Did you see the list of stuff they took they
- 54:50Speaker 1: had there at his house, at his places that they're
- 54:52Speaker 1: gonna have to liquidate to try to get some of
- 54:54Speaker 1: that money back, Like two or three lambos, a few rolls,
- 54:57Speaker 1: Royce's ten or so, Rolelex's couple aps. That's a very
- 55:01Speaker 1: very expensive watch, by the way, Ada Mar's Paget, some
- 55:05Speaker 1: other watches as well. I mean, he probably had just
- 55:08Speaker 1: looking at the watch collection because they ran it today.
- 55:11Speaker 1: He probably got nearly almost probably three quarters of a
- 55:14Speaker 1: million or a million dollars some watches.
- 55:16Speaker 8: I think that's about right. It's funny you mentioned that
- 55:18Speaker 8: because I actually got the government's list yesterday morning, first
- 55:22Speaker 8: thing in the morning, and was reading it, and the
- 55:24Speaker 8: watches was the first thing that attracted mine because there
- 55:26Speaker 8: was a lot on there. I can't remember how many properties.
- 55:29Speaker 8: I think it was four four, okay, but they ranged
- 55:33Speaker 8: from like one point five was the cheap one, yeah,
- 55:35Speaker 8: to eight and a half million dollars in properties. But
- 55:38Speaker 8: it was the watches that caught my eye because there
- 55:40Speaker 8: were seventeen of them, and of those seventeen, ten were rolexes.
- 55:45Speaker 8: They weren't the bottom of the end line rolex and
- 55:48Speaker 8: then as you mentioned, there were a few of these
- 55:50Speaker 8: upper echelon. Yeah. On the rolexes alone, there was probably
- 55:54Speaker 8: I don't know, three quarters I mean, excuse me, a
- 55:57Speaker 8: quarter to four hundred thousand dollars worth in the rolete.
- 56:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Because Ottomar's peguet when they make certain models, like
- 56:02Speaker 1: I think he had one that's about three hundred and
- 56:04Speaker 1: fifty thousand dollars because it's a real thin and the
- 56:06Speaker 1: make is there. The role just have a lot of
- 56:09Speaker 1: resale value based on what it is. But they started
- 56:11Speaker 1: talking about the dials and the inset diamonds, and again
- 56:14Speaker 1: some of those things can be very very expensive, especially
- 56:16Speaker 1: if it's a one offer, you know, or a limited edition.
- 56:19Speaker 1: It could just and it just increases in value. But
- 56:22Speaker 1: that pails in comparison to the properties. I mean, he
- 56:24Speaker 1: had a property in ale Worth. You know those properties
- 56:26Speaker 1: are worth a ton of money. Properties in winter Park
- 56:28Speaker 1: and you know, sports cars. I think his car collection
- 56:31Speaker 1: alone was about three million dollars if I remember right.
- 56:34Speaker 8: Yeah, the one in ile Worth was the one that
- 56:36Speaker 8: was eight point five million dollars. And I will never
- 56:38Speaker 8: begrudge anybody's charitable contributions because at least until there's a
- 56:43Speaker 8: charging document, because I don't know what's in anyone's heart.
- 56:46Speaker 8: But when you see somebody wearing a watch that's worth
- 56:49Speaker 8: one hundred thousand dollars, it's hard for me to get
- 56:52Speaker 8: terribly excited about giving you super props for making a
- 56:55Speaker 8: ten thousand dollars sponsorship.
- 56:57Speaker 1: You know, to a to a charity of it.
- 57:00Speaker 8: I mean fully for you. But That's the other thing
- 57:02Speaker 8: that I thought when I got that release is most
- 57:05Speaker 8: of the truly generous souls, the altruistic people I've met
- 57:09Speaker 8: in life, are not boasting about their charity, and they're
- 57:13Speaker 8: damn sure not using their charitable the checks they've written
- 57:15Speaker 8: as the way to introduce themselves. That's just set off
- 57:18Speaker 8: a flag in my mind.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Also, the watch thing is a bit of a tell
- 57:21Speaker 1: as well, Scott, because in the watch community, a lot
- 57:24Speaker 1: of those watches are only worn during certain events. They're
- 57:27Speaker 1: not really boasted about. The guys that I know that
- 57:31Speaker 1: have watches of that nature don't go around showcasing them
- 57:34Speaker 1: or wearing short shirts, so they all they're always showing
- 57:37Speaker 1: like that, you know. And the richest dude I ever
- 57:39Speaker 1: met in my life never had any of that. I mean,
- 57:41Speaker 1: you know, never had any of that stuff, never at
- 57:44Speaker 1: any of that. I mean, it was you know, you
- 57:46Speaker 1: could never tell. And I think you actually made that
- 57:48Speaker 1: point your calum today is like, you know, a lot
- 57:49Speaker 1: of the people who do and are the ballers just
- 57:52Speaker 1: don't show out like that. They're just really not that person.
- 57:55Speaker 8: Right, And I want to be super clear that I
- 57:57Speaker 8: do not begrudt someone forgiving and also having their name
- 58:00Speaker 8: attached to it. Sometimes having your name attached to it
- 58:03Speaker 8: gets other people to donate. I mean, if you see
- 58:06Speaker 8: that someone you respect gave fifty thousand dollars, you go,
- 58:09Speaker 8: you know what, I trust that person. I want to father.
- 58:11Speaker 8: There's some value of that. But if you're trading on that,
- 58:14Speaker 8: which is what the FEDS were saying he was doing,
- 58:16Speaker 8: and what some of these victims said, you know, that's
- 58:19Speaker 8: that's kind of special place in hell kind of stuff,
- 58:21Speaker 8: right Wheah. When you're taking a charity that's meant that's
- 58:24Speaker 8: meant to create to help children with cancer, which is
- 58:27Speaker 8: actually what one of these was, when you're using that
- 58:29Speaker 8: to try to, you know, run your ponzi scheme, as
- 58:31Speaker 8: the FED said, do you think.
- 58:33Speaker 1: The directors will pick up on this and this will
- 58:35Speaker 1: be maybe be the one that kind of breaks the
- 58:37Speaker 1: camel's back Scott where people who run these charities and
- 58:39Speaker 1: run these events, they won't they'll just look at the
- 58:41Speaker 1: check still.
- 58:43Speaker 8: I think, I mean, I think there are some there
- 58:45Speaker 8: are some who who and I've talked to one yesterday.
- 58:48Speaker 8: In fact, I talked to two. I haven't even after
- 58:51Speaker 8: I wrote the piece. A director for another charity said,
- 58:54Speaker 8: as soon as this guy came around, I smelled as
- 58:57Speaker 8: skunk and I told the people at my nonprofit we
- 59:00Speaker 8: should not be involved with him. And the impression I
- 59:03Speaker 8: get from him is that the rest of them just
- 59:04Speaker 8: heard blah blah blah blah blah. He offered us twenty
- 59:06Speaker 8: five thousand dollars. I don't know what you're talking about.
- 59:09Speaker 8: We're gonna take that money. So I think there are
- 59:13Speaker 8: there are some and I just think this town's gonna
- 59:15Speaker 8: continue to, you know, sort of be easy to break
- 59:18Speaker 8: into it. And by the way, there's a that's a
- 59:20Speaker 8: great thing about this community. Newcombers are really pretty welcomed here.
- 59:24Speaker 8: I mean, you can show up in pretty short order,
- 59:27Speaker 8: make a name for yourself. You can start a business,
- 59:29Speaker 8: you can rise in a civic club. I mean there's
- 59:31Speaker 8: some place, especially in the South, where you're not gonna
- 59:33Speaker 8: be the head of a Kawanas club unless you're the
- 59:35Speaker 8: third generation of somebody who else is the Kawanas club. Here,
- 59:39Speaker 8: you can do that after three or four years. That's
- 59:40Speaker 8: pretty great. But with that comes Charlatans who see how
- 59:43Speaker 8: opportunity am.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure. Great piece. If you haven't read
- 59:47Speaker 1: it today, Orlandosentinel dot Com got his piece on this
- 59:50Speaker 1: guy Delgado is really really interesting and the effect that
- 59:53Speaker 1: has on our community as a whole as well, because
- 59:57Speaker 1: you know, Orlando, you just don't want to be seen
- 59:58Speaker 1: as that sucker. And and unfortunately, I think maybe maybe
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: that I don't know, maybe there's a little bit of
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: that in there. You never you never know.
- 1:00:06Speaker 8: I think we're I think this town has always been
- 1:00:09Speaker 8: desperate to be bigger than it is right, to be
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: more than quote a Mickey mouse town, right, and uh
- 1:00:16Speaker 8: and and we've done a lot of things, and lord knows,
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: I love this town. I mean, I've been here for
- 1:00:21Speaker 8: three decades now, and uh chose to stay here. But uh,
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: you can't let that stuff blind you. And as you
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: mentioned to me in the text that you uh uh,
- 1:00:30Speaker 8: we see evidence of that, like with the Orlando Museum
- 1:00:33Speaker 8: of Art. Ye, well, when all of a sudden we
- 1:00:35Speaker 8: somehow thought we'd snag the greatest untold art exhibit in
- 1:00:39Speaker 8: the history of no one, the New York met you know,
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: no other museum has. If it's too good to be true,
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: just a little more screwed just to touch.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: All right, you guys, give it a good lun for
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Scott Maxwell. Thereas right there Thursdays and Sundays in the
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Orlando Sentinel. You can read it. Get your prescription right
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: there Orlando Centel dot com. What prescription, I mean subscription subscription. Oh,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: you look at me kind of crazy Eve before I
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: said that, I don't know what did anything crazy? All Right,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: you gotta look have a good week, but it We'll
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: see you soon.
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: Have fun this week.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: You got it, buddy? Alright? Four seven nine four one
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: text us at seven seven zero three one back in
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: a second more than Jim Corbord show.
- 1:01:23Speaker 9: What's up?
- 1:01:29Speaker 20: Gang?
- 1:01:30Speaker 25: So I'm born and raised over here in Satellite Beach.
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: So's my mom.
- 1:01:33Speaker 22: Uh.
- 1:01:34Speaker 25: We've seen hundreds and hundreds of launches, and the first
- 1:01:36Speaker 25: time I saw the jellyfish effect was a few years ago,
- 1:01:39Speaker 25: and it was the first time they were sending people
- 1:01:41Speaker 25: back up into space. It was the first Dragon Counsel launch,
- 1:01:45Speaker 25: and I remember standing in the seven eleven parking lot
- 1:01:48Speaker 25: looking up, going, man, I hope that everything is okay,
- 1:01:52Speaker 25: because that does not look right. But it turns out,
- 1:01:55Speaker 25: you know, everybody's safe. So it's just a really cool
- 1:01:57Speaker 25: effect when you see it.
- 1:02:00Speaker 11: Hey, guys, it's changed I know it's a little off topic,
- 1:02:02Speaker 11: but I just want to let you guys know, canna
- 1:02:04Speaker 11: have a Mineral and gem Society having a meeting tonight
- 1:02:07Speaker 11: to open the public.
- 1:02:07Speaker 26: Will have some cookies there and some show and tell
- 1:02:10Speaker 26: and a presentation on an.
- 1:02:11Speaker 27: Introduction to gemology.
- 1:02:12Speaker 26: It is free for everyone.
- 1:02:13Speaker 13: To attend and it's going to be a great meeting.
- 1:02:16Speaker 9: Look up your local.
- 1:02:16Speaker 26: German mineral clubs find out how to get out and
- 1:02:19Speaker 26: find crystals.
- 1:02:20Speaker 27: Fossils and gemstones in Florida and in the southern region.
- 1:02:24Speaker 11: Hope to see you.
- 1:02:25Speaker 9: Guys all there.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Very cool.
- 1:02:27Speaker 15: If you know what the funny thing is is I
- 1:02:29Speaker 15: I would have easily just made fun of that dude,
- 1:02:32Speaker 15: But unfortunately on my Instagram account, like I have a
- 1:02:35Speaker 15: lot of those people that kind of come up in
- 1:02:37Speaker 15: my feed who go out and look for these Is
- 1:02:39Speaker 15: it geodes?
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: Is that what they're called? They look like a regular
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: rock in the crack them in half. Yeah, it looks
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: like a magical world that Superman's from now.
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: I was surprised because he goes back with more information.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: But take a listen to this.
- 1:02:52Speaker 26: There's a bunch of German mineral clubs out here, like
- 1:02:54Speaker 26: the Tamoka Joan Mineral Club, the Wakaiva Gemen Mineral Club,
- 1:02:58Speaker 26: Cannaval Mineral and Gem Society, the Tampa Bay Fossil Club,
- 1:03:02Speaker 26: the Palm Beaches Gentleman Minerals Society. So there's there's.
- 1:03:06Speaker 27: Really kind of a lot going on all over Florida.
- 1:03:10Speaker 27: With the Kouchi RockHounds, there's really quite a few organizations
- 1:03:13Speaker 27: that are for people who like rocks, gems, minerals, and fossils.
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: Go and check that stuff out online.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Very cool. I know that Central Florida is a hotbed
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: for finding you know, arrowheads and things of that nature,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: shark's teeth and things like that. I mean that's a
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: I mean that's a major thing. My son used to
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: go with his grandfather and look for those things all
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: the time. But apparently big rock is a thing. Yeah.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I kind of like that with with the Kuchi Rock House. Yeah.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: I'm Jim Theer's deb Jacks ear as well. I play
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: in that softball team.
- 1:03:42Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cool. I mean they go out and look
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: for these things, and these people know this stuff. They
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: can find one out of a stream. They could just
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: walk down a stream and look down and they can
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: see exactly what the outer part of one of these
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: stones looks like and they dig it up then crack
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: it in half and it's just an incredible inside totally badass.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I remember we did that in sixth grade camp. Yea, yeah,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: that's fun. Yeah, all right, welcome back. I'm jim And
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: like I said, Devin Jacker here as well. So there's
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: this Canadian couple and they had a retirement plan. They
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: were going to buy a little house up in Ontario.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: It's a bit of a cottage and actually when you
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: look at the picture, it looks like it's more than
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: a cottage. It's like on a point, like on a lake,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: and it's beautiful. It looks fake kind of right, And
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: so the whole idea was is Christine and Dan Rejo
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: they are Rio purchased this product. Oh my god, Jimmy
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: purchased this property in Waynefleet, Ontario in twenty twenty. Christine
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: said the couple initially saw that as a gateway and
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: a potential retirement home. Right you look at it, and
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: says it just looked like a great play. So they
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: obtained a building permit, they went over to the township.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: They tore the old home on the property down they're
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: about to build it into property and they get a
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: call from the project manager and they say, hey, we
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: got a little bit of a problem. Guys, you want
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: to come on down. Gopher tortoise not a gopher tortoise.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: They came on down and the guy says, hey, look
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: we have a problem as we were excavating the area
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: to build your home.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: Ancient burial Indian burial ground. Ancient Indian burial ground.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Whoa, you nailed it the exact answer. They call it
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: an ancestral an ancestral indigenous ancestral remains were found. They
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: said the skeleton was about one thousand years old. Oh
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: my goodness. Now take that from poulder, guys. The form. Yeah,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: but you know what it really kind of almost is
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: exactly the same thing you talking about. A nightmare. Now,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: look you think to yourself, okay, much like the tortoise
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: gopher thing. You know, we get some we get some
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: civil removal, they'll come out, they do the whole thing.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: They remove the tortoise gopher, they put it wherever it's
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: gonna go, and then you are off to do your
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: thing gets a little pricey, It can be done. It
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: can no problem.
- 1:05:49Speaker 10: Hmm.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: Where was this in Ontario, the archaeological supervisor with six
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Nations of the Grand River called to the scene. She's
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: one of the appointed next of kin for the indigenous
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: man found on the property, whom she believes is at
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: least one thousand years old, and she goes like, we
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: need to find out the next step. So where we're going.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: They were ordered to by the Ontario Registrar of Burials
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: to launch a burial site investigation. Now this is just
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: the beginning of this process. How much do you think
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: the investigation alone.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: Is one hundred thousand dollars?
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Oh, I was going to go thirty thousand. Thirty thousand
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: dollars is the answer?
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Oh, two dogs.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Depending on where it is, how deep it is, what
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: it is, it could be up to eighty thousand.
- 1:06:43Speaker 28: Oh.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: But it doesn't stop there. Oh jeez, per body, Oh
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: come on, you can't get a bullgo. As they start
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: investigating this property, they realize this could be a burial
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: area because of where it is. It's near a body
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: of water, and they and they looked at other burial
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: areas that were similar with this particular indigenous group and
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: this is kind of what they use to bury people.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: They purely believe that this is just the beginning of
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: the story. They purely believe they're going to find more
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: bodies in that area because it would be rare to
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: find one person dead in that area because they never
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: they weren't alone, they were nomadic, they lived in packs,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: so if one would die, usually they would be put
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: in an area where like a graveyard type thing. One
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: estimate cited by CBC News said this could be the
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: final price of getting just the property ready to build,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: after twenty seven days of working with a crew to
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: make sure that these skeletons were clear.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: You go first, Jack, since you're nailing it.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Exactly what are you asked? It says both.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: You can say a million and a half.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: It says that's total number, but it says if they
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: find more remains or artifacts, it could swell to this
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: ten million, a little hot million. A million is the number,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: one million dollars. And you can remember they haven't built
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: anything yet. They actually tore the old house down to
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: rebuild a cottage on that property.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: And can they just pay them the money back for
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: the what they paid And it.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Doesn't work that way. It always they have to imagine
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: if that happened here, remember that, didn't they run into
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: a graveyard in Tampa when they were building? Or is
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: that in Tallahassee?
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: Oh no, in Tampa.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: But unfortunately the buildings had already taken place, and there
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: are several, you know, city buildings, buildings that belong to
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: cities that are sitting on top of, yeah, abandoned African
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: American cemetery.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: The argument they're making, and actually the government itself is making,
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: is is you know, and they said, well, how how
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: could this be on us? You know, we bought an
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: existing property. Did you guys not do a land survey?
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Did you guys not do anything to figure out, you know,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: how could you sell me a property knowing that there
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: could be a burden of this level And that's where
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: the proper, that's where it is right now. So they're
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: basically kind of arguing with Ontario on who's going to
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: cover the cost of this, Yeah, because the people are
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: saying like, that'd be like me selling you a house
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: and I have prior knowledge there could be burial grounds around.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: I mean, that's you know, and it could cost you
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: tens of thousands of dollars to clear those sites and
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: continue to build. I mean, that's got to be on
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: the person who sold the house.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: Right, Well, the previous owner might have had no idea
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: that that was underground. I mean it's underground, but they us, do.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: We know how old the previous home was because maybe
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: it was built before I mean those kinds of regulations
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: were required when building a house.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we guess that's probably the case. You know, before
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: this evening, you know, before any of this was a thing.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure that's what the case was. And
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: it doesn't really end that. I mean, you know, when
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: I read the story, the story just kind of goes
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: up where it is now. You know, they're in that
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: process right now. There's a twenty seven day process they
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: have to kind of go through as they clear the property,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: and I guess they're bringing maybe some sonar, some ground
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: penetrating sonar to see if they can find any other
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: anomalies on the property before they continue going forward. But
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: as of right now, it's going to be a minimum
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: of like thirty two eighty thousand dollars.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: What a nightmare, God.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: A biddy, I couldn't imagine. I just said it all
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: on fire and leave. Yeah, I'm out of here. Can
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: you throw a property in the River.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: Hey, we just had word come in University of Notre
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: Dame announcing that Lou Hols has passed.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Oh has he really eighty nine years old? Wow? I
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: had an encounter with coach Holtz one time out of Bayhill,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: believe it or not, God dog it. He was a
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: good dude, a little bitty fella. That's crazy. He and
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Wayne Fontce, the former coach of the Detroit Lions. Yeah, yeah, wheah.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I was out there playing in the in the the
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: game and what they call the shootout out there with
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: a couple some of the members, and I was hitting
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: balls and I heard a couple guys behind me talking
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: and uh rude kind of talks like this, Yeah, you know,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: he had that little thing and and I heard somebody go, coach,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: wouldn't you like to hit it like that? Or something
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: like that. I was hitting pretty good that day and
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: he goes, would you like to hit it like that?
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: And I turned around and it's Lou Holtz telling that
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: to Wayne Fonts watching me hit golf ball. Wow, that's
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: kind of cool. That's a true story. It's kind of cool.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Guys out that we're both playing the game that day.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: It was kind of crazy.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: Yeah, Lou Hols led Notre Dame to a nineteen eighty
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: eight national championship, passes away today at the age of
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: eighty nine.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: We knew it was in bad shape. I think he
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: went in not hospice by any means. I think his
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: family announced that he was, you know, in that in
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: that stage of his life, about a week or so ago,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: if I remember, right, all right? For seven nine six
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: four one back in a second. More than Jim Colbert shows, they.
- 1:11:25Speaker 9: Put how's it?
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Ohana?
- 1:11:30Speaker 21: Oh hump day. Indeed, this broda never usually gets up
- 1:11:34Speaker 21: at five am, but Boss flew this morning, so I
- 1:11:36Speaker 21: had to be at the hangar around seven. But wife
- 1:11:39Speaker 21: and I were on the porch having coffee and here
- 1:11:41Speaker 21: comes this launch. This knocked Delisicent cloud and we've seen
- 1:11:45Speaker 21: him before, but by the time it reached the full umbra,
- 1:11:49Speaker 21: it was.
- 1:11:50Speaker 8: As wide as the house across the street.
- 1:11:52Speaker 21: It was stunning.
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: Aloha, Aloha brought a Matt sent me a couple of
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: pictures of that as well.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not lying, I know it's pretty wid Yeah.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Pro seven nine four one text seven seven zero three one.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show here on Real Radio.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: I'm Jim. There's deb Hello. Jack is here as well. Yeah,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: if you want to send a talk back, it's easy, guys,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: grab the iHeartRadio app, go to real Radio and use
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: that mike to send your comment or to Jack while
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: you're there. Please make us your number one pre set.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: Helps us out quite a bit, and we thank you
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: very much for that. Thank you, Thank you. My wife
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: is showing me something last night. This is just an
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: a sign. You guys know that song from a teerspears,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Everybody wants to Rule the World?
- 1:12:35Speaker 25: Yes?
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Did you occasionally hear it on in Real Music Week? Yeah?
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Did you guys know that? At one point that after
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: that they cut another version of it in nineteen eighty
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: six and it said everybody wants to run the world.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: It's this wild thing she saw she saw online and
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: she says, is anybody This guy goes, am I the
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: only person that noticed this, and he played the song
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: and it definitely does say. That version says everyone wants
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: to run the world, and he goes, it's rule the
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: world old right, Yeah, and it definitely is rule of
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: the world. But when you go in research, I guess
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: in eighty six or so, right after that, they cut
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: another version of it, and it said everybody wants to
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: run the world. And I don't know there's a reason why.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I don't know why I was thinking about that today,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: but I was there is like, you guys eat a
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: chain restaurants, right, Oh? Yeah, yeah, I mean there's nothing
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: wrong with a chain restaurant. I think chain restaurants get
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: a bit of a bad, bad reputation sometimes because a
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: number of them do a very good job. Indeed, yeah,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: I mean you get Longhorn, obviously, you could do a
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: good Texas Roadhouse. I mean, you know in these barb
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: chili sunnies, I mean there are a bunch of them.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Cocker barrel right, right, not cacker cracker barrel right. Hey,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: which one do you think gets has the worst reputation
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: or catches the most strays online or by people? Do
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: you think Burger King does they catch a lot of strays?
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: How about sit down restaurants.
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: Red Lobster, Oh, that's definitely a good one. Yeah, And
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: Red Lobster and Olive Garden because they were the biggest.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I think Olive Garden was the biggest chain restaurant for
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: a while, right, Remember it just got unseated by Texas Roadhouse. Right,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: it was the number one casual dining destination for Americans
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: for decades.
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: I think when you are at the top of that list,
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: you take the most shots. People take the most shots
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: at you. I agree, you agree with that? Oh yeah,
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: says he is the target who says here in.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: This story says. Olive Garden is at its core an
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: American institution, first opened in nineteen eighty two, right here
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: in good old Orlando, Florida. It is the text Mech's
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: equivalent of American Italian cuisine. Serves numerous dishes that would
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: be never found anywhere near Italy, Dishes whom mere existence
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: calls for the blood of Italians to boil.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, it's right up there with breaking the pasta and.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Half right exactly right to that in front of them.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: So this website, they say, well, you know what, we
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: don't really know if that's the case at all. Right,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: maybe Olive Garden isn't bad as people say it is, right,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: And here's how we're going to do that. So this
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: group of dudes they get together with a friend of
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: theirs who happens to be an Italian exchange student, and
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: they do this whole internet thing and they take him
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: into olive garden, and they sit him down an olive
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: garden and they start ordering food for him to try again.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: He is from Italy, grew up as an Italian eating
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Italian home cooked food. Theoretically, nobody would know what authentic
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Italian food tastes like more than this kid from Italy, right,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: not only from his home, from restaurants around there as
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: he's growing up. I think he's a twenty three if
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I remember it, from his mama, from his mama, from
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: his nana, all of those wonderful Italian dishes, all of
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: that great tomato sauce, all of those wonderful dishes. How
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: do you think it went?
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: He was disowned by his family?
- 1:15:51Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they ordered fried ravioli, mozrella sticks, breadsticks with dipping sauce,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Alfredo sauce. But so, by the way, I guess they said,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: i'll freight as not an Italian dish, but it certainly
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: is an Italian dish. It was invented in Rome in
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: the nineteen hundreds, early nineteen hundreds, so it definitely is
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: an Italian dish. Do you think it went well? Do
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: you think he ragged on it? Do you think he
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: was like get this slop out in front of me.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: Or because you're asking. I would say it went well. However,
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: the video has twenty five point one million views. Wow
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: was it recent, the TikTok video? Yeah, yeah, not that
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: long ago.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: I deleted TikTok from my phone again.
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: Love hate love hate the Yeah, I say, went well,
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: But I have a question for you. How do we
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: know how good a cook his mom was?
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: That's a fair question. Day think about it. Look, that's
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: a fair question.
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: You know what the doctor that graduates last in this
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: class they still call doctor. Yeah, you know, just because
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: she's an Italian mom doesn't mean she's automatically a great club.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: You're one hundred percent right. So maybe these kids used
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: to eating garbage food.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but his mom wouldn't be the only one who's
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: ever cooked for him in his twenty plus years of life.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Twenty three feed and it's funny, right you would have think,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: I mean, if you had an Italian kid sitting down
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: for dinner, what do you think he would order to drink?
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Like a nice wine? Right, sparkling water, sparkling water, maybe
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: a glass of wine. That would be stereotypical for an
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Italian to sit down with a nice plate of food,
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: and yeah, maybe a baroni, Yeah maybe so Yeah, Prony's
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: that works as well. He had a peach ice tea, oh,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: and lost his mind. Thought it was the greatest thing
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: he'd ever tasted in his life. It's pretty good. It's
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: damn good. My man went crazy. He thought it was
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: the best thing he'd ever tasted in his life.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: Oh, I hope his is Nonah doesn't hear that.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: He said. He said that, he goes. I don't know
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: how anybody rags on this restaurant. This is absolutely wonderful food.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: Has Olive Garden called him yet.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: That's exactly what somebody.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: From their social media team has got to get their
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: hands on this video and pay this kid a lot
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: of money.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: It is very good, and he goes, he goes. Look
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: it's a smorgasboard of insanely delicious items coming one after
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: the next. I loved everything. The Alfredo sauce. They show
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: him dipping breadsticks in the and they do. I have
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: to tell you, they do a damn good Alfredo sauce
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: at Olive Garden. It's pretty good. It's my daughter's shape.
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: Both my daughters love like if they get to pick
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: they usually want to go to Olive Garden.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: We enjoy it. Yeah, yeah, I do too.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: I love that too, salid Their salad is good.
- 1:18:32Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: So they bring these breadsticks.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Out of this kid and he dips it in that
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Alfredo sauce and eats it, and you his eyes rolled
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: back in his head. Yeah, he loved everything.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: About it watching it English. English lads try barbecue for
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: the first time.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: And one of the top comments on the video really
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: says it all. It's kind of funny. It says Olive
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Garden is like Taco Bell. We all know it isn't authentic,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: but it still slaps it's its own thing. Yeah, and
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: I agree without one hundred percent. Here's the thing, I
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: don't know that it's not really all that euthentic. I
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: think Olive Garden does a pretty good job and they've
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: gotten a terrible reputation for no reason because you get
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: a great deal for when you go in there and
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: eat it's It really isn't expensive for a sit down,
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: sit down meal. You can still find a past edition
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: there that's affordable. The salad and the bread sticks are
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: always on point. Pretty good salad, good breadsticks. I think
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: they do a pretty good job. I don't know why
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: they get all that hate this Italian get that it
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: was the great thing you ever had.
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: Anything that is uber popular always draws the criticism.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: That's right. First it gets praised, and then they can't
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: wait to knock it down.
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: And when you were talking about who takes the most,
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: you know, eat eat, people are texting waffle House, Applebee's,
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: those things that are omnipresent.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: You know, they're in every city. You see there ass
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: all the time. And by the way, I think that
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: real food people will get irritated by their popularity because
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: they don't know how to do that, and I think
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: that they think those restaurants are below them. One of
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: the reasons I love Fiez is because Fias does not
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: have even and one hair of that on his body.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: He could have a great meal at a chain restaurant
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: as quickly as he can have a restaurant a good
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: meal anywhere else. It says here, nobody in the right
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: mind would ever try to convince you that Olive Garden
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: is authentic Italian. It's an Italian American cuisine catered towards Americans,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: but with dishes that transcend cultural barriers because they are delicious. Yeah,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: pretty cool, it says, this is gorilla marketing at its best.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Oh, I like it if they because you couldn't have
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: an American say those same words and have the same
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: impact as a young person literally from Italy praising olive gardens.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: That's the singular.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: Best to go viral. Exactly, that's the best endorsement they
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: never asked for.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Did you guys know that olive gardens were in other countries?
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: I'm sure most other of our, but I had.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: No idea that olive garden existed outside of the US.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Listen to this. Puerto Rico, guam, Aruba, Brazil, Canada Coast
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: or Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, the Philippines, Kuwait, and
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia all have a hove gardens. How crazy is that?
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Good on them? Man?
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Oh, that's such a great question. T per state, that's
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: say three and ten triple it? Oh my goodness, Really
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: a thousand of those things? Yeah, Lord of Mercy that
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: night as of this year, nine hundred and fifty. Yeah,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: the guy says here, look, TikTok is enamored with the story,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: but they kind of came to the conclusion that anything
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: that has enough fat and butter is going to be great.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: That's of course, all right for seven four one. Text
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: us at seven seven zero three on on our friend
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: Collette Fair, who is a relationship expert. You heard her
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: on the show a little while ago. She's back with
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: us today and she's next.
- 1:21:54Speaker 9: Still to come.
- 1:21:59Speaker 12: We find out what's in the good Sauce with Ross
- 1:22:02Speaker 12: Paget Today. It's six on the Jim Colbert Show.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: All right, welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. We're

- 1:22:16Speaker 1: this young lady visited us a little while ago on
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Thursday night. You can hear it right here for love
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: dye neighbor. You guys give it up good loud from
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: his collect Flair.
- 1:22:25Speaker 23: It's fair Flair, Fair with a flair.
- 1:22:29Speaker 20: That's me.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Yeah, girl, you are busy follow you on social media,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: and I get tired of watching your social media.
- 1:22:36Speaker 29: You know, I'm exhausting myself even thinking about it. But
- 1:22:39Speaker 29: I'm so happy to be back here. I love this show.
- 1:22:42Speaker 29: I love coming on and seeing you guys. So for me,
- 1:22:44Speaker 29: this is super fun.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Thanks for having me well, I appreciate it.
- 1:22:47Speaker 14: Man.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: You know you wrote the book The Cost of Quiet,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: which is a really fascinating book. You can actually pick
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: that up anywhere you're making the junket moves everywhere there is.
- 1:22:54Speaker 23: Uh book is bell crow to my chest?
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: I wake up?
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Yes, you are a relationship expert, couples therapist. Anything else
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: you want to add to that.
- 1:23:05Speaker 29: I have two podcasts, one that is on Real Radio
- 1:23:09Speaker 29: one O four one as we now learned when I
- 1:23:11Speaker 29: was last year Thursday and I's at eight pm, and
- 1:23:14Speaker 29: then another Insights from the Couch, which is for women
- 1:23:16Speaker 29: at midlife. I've also done a ted X talk. I'm
- 1:23:19Speaker 29: a speaker, and of course my brand new book, The
- 1:23:21Speaker 29: Cost of Quiet just came out.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and I have to tell you know, we talked
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: about the book last time you were in. And the
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: idea of cost of Quiet is basically, and you can
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: correct me when I'm wrong here and I am all
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: the time, is the idea that couples have been together
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: for a while will let these things build up in
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: their relationship and being too afraid to talk about them
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: to either hurt one's feelings or don't want to suffer
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: the repercussions of bringing up something that's difficult. You just
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: kind of eat it and you're quiet, And of course
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: we know for a fact that ends in an explosion.
- 1:23:52Speaker 23: A lot of times you hit the nail on the head.
- 1:23:54Speaker 29: And what I say in the book is that quiet
- 1:23:57Speaker 29: is really a euphemism for avoidance. So some people will say, well,
- 1:24:00Speaker 29: I'm not quiet, and God knows I'm not. It doesn't
- 1:24:02Speaker 29: always sound or look so quiet. Sometimes it can be arguing,
- 1:24:06Speaker 29: but you're stuck in the thing that isn't important instead
- 1:24:09Speaker 29: of really talking about what matters your fears, your insecurities,
- 1:24:12Speaker 29: your doubts, your feelings.
- 1:24:14Speaker 23: We all have them and we have to be able.
- 1:24:16Speaker 29: To have those hard conversations constructively to be connected.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, how does that manifest itself in a lot of
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: your sessions? When you know, when couples come in and
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: they're like, you know, we can't get along, we can't
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: find you know, peace and ground, Where does that start?
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: You know, where you even open that conversation up to
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: get it kind of moving towards some answers.
- 1:24:34Speaker 23: Oh, such a good question.
- 1:24:35Speaker 29: So surprisingly it's with the little tiny, mundane, everyday things.
- 1:24:40Speaker 29: You left the milk on the counter for the third
- 1:24:43Speaker 29: time when we've discussed this and now I'm mad. That
- 1:24:47Speaker 29: can be a whole session, and you'd be amazed how
- 1:24:50Speaker 29: much is underneath that. It taps into that we fear
- 1:24:53Speaker 29: our partner doesn't value us anymore, that they don't listen
- 1:24:57Speaker 29: to us.
- 1:24:57Speaker 23: We're not important, they don't care, we're not lovable, we're
- 1:25:00Speaker 23: not good enough.
- 1:25:02Speaker 29: It goes to our identity, and that's why we get
- 1:25:04Speaker 29: so stuck over those little things. So I'll say, can
- 1:25:07Speaker 29: you think of something that had maybe a minor level
- 1:25:11Speaker 29: of activation, say at a scale of one to ten,
- 1:25:14Speaker 29: maybe a three if I need to help.
- 1:25:16Speaker 23: Them get there. We don't want a ten at the beginning.
- 1:25:19Speaker 29: We want to start to track the pattern that you
- 1:25:21Speaker 29: get into, because couples get stuck where their defense mechanisms
- 1:25:25Speaker 29: come up. They react protectively, They eat it, they swallow it,
- 1:25:30Speaker 29: they throw out a passive, aggressive dig.
- 1:25:32Speaker 23: They make a joke, right, but it's.
- 1:25:34Speaker 29: Not really a joke, and then the other person reacts
- 1:25:38Speaker 29: to that and before you know it, we're arguing the
- 1:25:41Speaker 29: details the facts. Well you're the one who left the milk,
- 1:25:43Speaker 29: Well you didn't tell me here, I'll pull up my
- 1:25:45Speaker 29: text message and show you that you.
- 1:25:47Speaker 23: Said you would.
- 1:25:48Speaker 29: And all of that is avoidance of what really matters.
- 1:25:51Speaker 29: That I'm scared maybe you don't listen and that makes
- 1:25:54Speaker 29: me afraid to bring things up or feel like why bother?
- 1:25:58Speaker 29: And if we can address that part and a pair
- 1:26:00Speaker 29: repair is so essential in relationships because we're constantly rupturing
- 1:26:05Speaker 29: and we constantly have misunderstandings.
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: Is it kind of like clothing, like like like the
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: clothing rips. Yeah, Like after a while.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: Your favorite pair of jeens is gonna get a wear spot,
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: it's gonna need a patch, it might need a new button,
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: it might need.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: So you throw it out and get a new pair.
- 1:26:21Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: Now now you reuse, recycle, repurpose.
- 1:26:25Speaker 29: Yeah, but it kind of is like that, right, Absolutely,
- 1:26:28Speaker 29: It's a great analogy.
- 1:26:30Speaker 23: And you know these things happen all the time.
- 1:26:32Speaker 29: There are daily interactions where we misunderstand each other, or
- 1:26:36Speaker 29: we step on the person we loves toes without meaning to.
- 1:26:39Speaker 23: We all have raw spots from the past.
- 1:26:42Speaker 29: Pain points from our childhood, our parents, that not good
- 1:26:46Speaker 29: enough feeling, for example, that doesn't start with our partner,
- 1:26:49Speaker 29: but our partner might do that little thing like we've
- 1:26:52Speaker 29: asked them ten times not to leave the milk there,
- 1:26:55Speaker 29: and they do it anyway, And now that raw.
- 1:26:57Speaker 23: Spot inside is activated. So let's repair the wound by
- 1:27:02Speaker 23: talking about it instead.
- 1:27:03Speaker 29: Of throwing the pair out and buying a new one
- 1:27:05Speaker 29: that would get expensive really fast.
- 1:27:07Speaker 9: Yeah, I would.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Yeah, my wife and I have talked to the therapist
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: before about situations in our lives. We've been together twenty
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: one years, so that you know, that does come up.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: And one of the things that that when those things happen,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: And my wife really does have a unique way of
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: saying when those things happen. She's like, Jimmy, you're an
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: a hold and I'm joking. She uh like she doesn't
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: like dishes in the sink. Maybe either, right, I'm just
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: like dishes in the sink.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: Her whole thing is it only takes a few seconds
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: get them out of here. And this really when I
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: walk in, because we walk we entered the house through
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: the kitchen and the first thing she sees is the
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: sink there and she does a little check there and
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: you know what she did, she was just like, you
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: know what, I want to let you know, just just
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: as for me to you. I'm not mad or anything
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: like that, but this drives me crazy. And the funny
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: thing is it was the only thing. And then when
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: I make sure that one thing's done and I swear
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: on my life, that's like, that's like the trigger point
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: for her. And you know, and I don't have like
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: a trigger point like that per se. But it doesn't
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: work like that because personalities are so different.
- 1:28:03Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:28:03Speaker 29: Yes, And I'm so glad you bring this example because
- 1:28:06Speaker 29: it's perfect. And I have so many stories like this
- 1:28:08Speaker 29: in my book that end up leading to all these
- 1:28:11Speaker 29: divorces and infidelities when they're not handled the way you
- 1:28:15Speaker 29: just described. So this is what I'm trying to get
- 1:28:17Speaker 29: couples to do, to actually connect to yourself inside and
- 1:28:21Speaker 29: realize that the dishes bother you. And the way your
- 1:28:23Speaker 29: wife came forward was instead of you're an a hole,
- 1:28:26Speaker 29: why do you keep leaving the damn dishes and the sink?
- 1:28:29Speaker 29: What's wrong if you blame accusation criticism, she came forward
- 1:28:32Speaker 29: and said, Hey, you're not doing anything wrong.
- 1:28:34Speaker 23: This is about me.
- 1:28:35Speaker 29: I'm sharing this with you so you can understand me.
- 1:28:38Speaker 29: This is a trigger point for me.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: This is one of my things.
- 1:28:41Speaker 29: Yes, And then you did something equally important, which is
- 1:28:45Speaker 29: you were responsive to it instead of getting defensive, minimizing it,
- 1:28:50Speaker 29: dismissing it.
- 1:28:51Speaker 23: Why are you making a big deal, it's just the dishes.
- 1:28:54Speaker 29: You made a behavior change that showed you listened and
- 1:28:58Speaker 29: that you care about something that matters to her.
- 1:29:00Speaker 23: That's that's it. That's all we're trying to do.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: The key can not take it personally, so then you
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: can respond to it instead of reacting to it.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because the goal is to heal the relationship. Jack,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: It isn't like to win you. You don't win like that.
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: I think in many arguments that's the mindset that zero
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: sum gain is where you have to know I'm going
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: to win this and do you want to have a
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: relationship or do you want to win?
- 1:29:25Speaker 29: You know you're you're one hundred percent right. And that's
- 1:29:27Speaker 29: because underneath it we take it as though it's a
- 1:29:30Speaker 29: commentary on our character.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Right, that's exactly right.
- 1:29:33Speaker 23: Yeah, and it can activate shame.
- 1:29:34Speaker 29: People don't realize that's what it is. But if you
- 1:29:37Speaker 29: took that as oh, she's making a statement about me.
- 1:29:40Speaker 29: I'm a bad guy. She doesn't think I'm doing a
- 1:29:42Speaker 29: good job, then you missed the whole thing.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: It's about her. She just simply said, hey, this drives
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: me crazy, Like if I if I put your golf
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: clubs in the wrong place, how would you like that
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: type thing? You know, it wasn't it wasn't even confrontational
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: like that. She said, you know, you like this a
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: certain way, and it's just my version of that. And
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: to be honest with you, it was just easy for
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: me to understand because any other way. Pride just didn't
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: get it right because it doesn't bother me. I don't
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: understand why four or five glasses in the sink that
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: could easily be thrown in the dishwasher next time we
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: cook is going to be fine. That doesn't matter if
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: it is fine to me. The fact is she was
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: nice enough to share this drives me a little crazy.
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: And if you could make an effort to make sure
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: that when you leave the house there are no kitchen
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: stuff in the sink, that I would really appreciate that
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: and no problem whatsoever. It turned out perfectly easy.
- 1:30:28Speaker 29: It was the easiest thing ever, And I wish more
- 1:30:30Speaker 29: people could get that. I mean, that's what I'm really
- 1:30:33Speaker 29: trying to help people do. So what you said about
- 1:30:35Speaker 29: the zero sum game and winning. I think a lot
- 1:30:37Speaker 29: of people get stuck there and they don't realize underneath it,
- 1:30:40Speaker 29: they're fighting for their character. Yeah right, they're taking it
- 1:30:43Speaker 29: so personally. But also the way your wife said it
- 1:30:46Speaker 29: helped you to be able to hear it because it
- 1:30:49Speaker 29: wasn't accusatory and it wasn't credit.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Talking to call that fair. She is the author of
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: the cost of Quiet.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: We just got a very interesting question via text message
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: do you tell Yeah? Well, because so someone just texted
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: us at seven seven zero three one asking what advice
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: you would have for husbands with a wife going through perimenopause.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: Turned out to see you have I know because and
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: for her right, she's going through her own personality changes.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: Her body's going crazy just like it did when she
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: was eleven, twelve thirteen. She doesn't understand what's happening, and
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: she's taking it out, most likely on him.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: How do you survive this latest stage?
- 1:31:30Speaker 29: So it's a big change, and it goes back to
- 1:31:32Speaker 29: a version of what we're talking about with the dishes.
- 1:31:35Speaker 29: So first of all, as the husband, you can proactively
- 1:31:39Speaker 29: ask your wife to share something about her experience. Hey,
- 1:31:42Speaker 29: I don't know what you're going through and you can't
- 1:31:44Speaker 29: possibly and even as women were all going to experience
- 1:31:47Speaker 29: it so differently, I didn't have a lot of symptoms
- 1:31:49Speaker 29: in perimenopause.
- 1:31:51Speaker 23: Some people don't even feel well. Don't worry.
- 1:31:53Speaker 29: It caught up with me in menopause. Oh no, yeah,
- 1:31:57Speaker 29: I just didn't have them so early. And some people
- 1:31:59Speaker 29: it completely wrecks them. Other people do okay, but be
- 1:32:03Speaker 29: proactive about asking what.
- 1:32:05Speaker 23: Are you going through? Help me understand. I want to
- 1:32:07Speaker 23: be here for you. How can I support you?
- 1:32:10Speaker 29: And if something's getting taken out on you or that's
- 1:32:13Speaker 29: your interpretation of it, and that's fair, that can happen.
- 1:32:17Speaker 13: Right.
- 1:32:17Speaker 29: If our hormones are all over the place, our patients
- 1:32:21Speaker 29: and our bandwidth is low, it's easy to snap at
- 1:32:24Speaker 29: a partner. Yeah, yeah, You've got to tell your partner
- 1:32:27Speaker 29: same framework instead of you're taking out your perimenopause on me.
- 1:32:31Speaker 23: This is how I feel in this moment.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: And what would you tell to the wives that are
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: going through this? You know, because you can't use it
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: as a blanket excuse for abuse in your relationship. You
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: may be going through hell and it feels literally like
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: it's you're on fire, but you still you can't take
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: it out in your partner. So what would you tell
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: the wives who are going through this how to protect
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: their relationship?
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: Is it alcohol always?
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: But beyond that?
- 1:32:57Speaker 29: Yes, so it is really you're going to have to
- 1:33:00Speaker 29: give your partner some education about what's happening and don't
- 1:33:03Speaker 29: resent them for that. Now, if you share this is
- 1:33:05Speaker 29: what I'm experiencing, can you give me some grace. I'm
- 1:33:08Speaker 29: trying to figure this out too. And then you don't
- 1:33:11Speaker 29: feel like they have patience for you. I would address
- 1:33:13Speaker 29: that in the moment. Here's one of these moments that
- 1:33:15Speaker 29: I'm really struggling, and your response or your lack of
- 1:33:19Speaker 29: understanding makes me feel like you're not hearing me. We've
- 1:33:21Speaker 29: got to really talk about the deeper feelings and the pattern.
- 1:33:25Speaker 23: We get stuck and.
- 1:33:26Speaker 29: We don't want to make it all one big global blob.
- 1:33:30Speaker 29: This is because of perimenopause. You're not listening to me.
- 1:33:33Speaker 29: We want to take each thing at a time and
- 1:33:35Speaker 29: talk about how it's impacting us as it's happening.
- 1:33:38Speaker 23: Small things.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Often the therapist we went to gave us this whole
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: thing and it says and it's we call it swizzy.
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: But when you're having a difficult time kind of seeing
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: the other one's point of view. You say, So, what
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: you're saying is, so, if my wife is trying to
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: explain something to me, and just because I don't understand
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: her walk through life because of her, you know, being
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: a female, other situation isn't like that. I will say,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: so what you're saying is and then I will put
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: that thing that she said to me in my words
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: to see if I'm hearing it the way she's thinking it. Yeah,
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: that way, you're absolutely sure on what's being said in thought,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: so that when you respond it's to the right thing,
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: instead of responding to something that she really didn't even mean,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: which sometimes can even fortify the thought that maybe you're
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: not listening. So what we do that, So what you're
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: saying is this, let me make I want to make
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: sure I got this right right. You are saying that,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: and then blah blah blah, and she'll go, no, no, no,
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: that's not what I'm saying at all. This is what
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: I mean, And I'm like, oh, now I get it. Now,
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: I completely understand that. Let's move toward a solution.
- 1:34:38Speaker 29: Yeah, it's the game of telephone. You say, purple parrot
- 1:34:40Speaker 29: and the person here's pink Panda. So I think that's great.
- 1:34:43Speaker 29: I just want to add to that that the big
- 1:34:46Speaker 29: problem here that we haven't really talked about yet is
- 1:34:48Speaker 29: emotional dysregulation, meaning that because we love our partner so much, conflict,
- 1:34:54Speaker 29: any disagreement, can feel scary, conflict can feel it threat.
- 1:34:58Speaker 29: And so if we're disregulated, we're activated, we're upset, we're flooded,
- 1:35:02Speaker 29: we're scared, we're angry. Even if we repeat those words,
- 1:35:05Speaker 29: we're not going to hear until we're regulated. So what
- 1:35:09Speaker 29: I'm really trying to help people do is get back
- 1:35:12Speaker 29: to being emotionally grounded. I call it the green zone,
- 1:35:15Speaker 29: or being connected to your sage self. That's when you're
- 1:35:18Speaker 29: able to be calm, curious about your partner. You can
- 1:35:21Speaker 29: actually hear, and then you need to do that repeating
- 1:35:23Speaker 29: hey am I hearing you right right? But if you
- 1:35:25Speaker 29: don't get yourself emotionally regulated, whether it's the milk, the dishes, whatever,
- 1:35:31Speaker 29: or something huge, you're not going to hear each other.
- 1:35:34Speaker 23: And that's what we're missing most of the time.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: Collect how many people when they come in for a
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: therapy session with you, and as you're talking to them,
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: you're thinking to yourself. Wow, man, these people need to
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: be in therapy individually before they come seeing me, because
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: one of these people don't they have maybe a scar
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: from earlier in their life, maybe from childhood, maybe from
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: a former relationship, and that definitely is holding that person
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: back in this relationship and not allowing it to grow.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: Do you see that often in therapy sessions.
- 1:36:01Speaker 29: Absolutely, And I see often that most people do have scars.
- 1:36:05Speaker 29: In fact, I would say it's the exception that somebody
- 1:36:08Speaker 29: doesn't have a scar that's coming up in their relationship.
- 1:36:11Speaker 9: Now.
- 1:36:11Speaker 29: Sometimes it can be so big the reaction, right, they're
- 1:36:15Speaker 29: so sensitive. They've been rejected, they were abandoned, abused exactly,
- 1:36:20Speaker 29: and we are reliving our past, We are reliving our
- 1:36:24Speaker 29: old wounds. Most in our relationships, your partner unconsciously and
- 1:36:30Speaker 29: even unintentionally pushes on that place that you've been hurt before.
- 1:36:34Speaker 29: So even though you don't like something that you hear
- 1:36:37Speaker 29: or they say or do, the way you react is
- 1:36:40Speaker 29: all your own. So I'm always encouraging people to Okay,
- 1:36:44Speaker 29: you took that as a sign that she doesn't value you,
- 1:36:47Speaker 29: but let's look at where that comes from in your past.
- 1:36:50Speaker 29: And most of the time, if people would do individual
- 1:36:53Speaker 29: work with the couple's work.
- 1:36:55Speaker 23: That would be the best because there is so much
- 1:36:58Speaker 23: that's about us.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: In the book is called the cost of quiet. And
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: you know, obviously we know the quiet can be a
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: number of things in your professional experience.
- 1:37:07Speaker 29: What is the most the quiet is the most is
- 1:37:11Speaker 29: that we avoid being vulnerable and instead we blame, accus
- 1:37:16Speaker 29: and criticize or get defensive.
- 1:37:18Speaker 23: That simple, that's the most common thing.
- 1:37:22Speaker 29: That's just so human because this is our instinct, right
- 1:37:25Speaker 29: we go into fight or flight. But we've really got
- 1:37:27Speaker 29: to evolve past that by getting regulated and connecting.
- 1:37:31Speaker 23: To ourselves to figure out, Okay, why does this bother me?
- 1:37:33Speaker 23: What's this about?
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: And because I would think also, and again I don't
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: know how any experiences of this, but if somebody loves
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: you enough and they're with you and they come up
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: and they share something like that that you should not
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: look at that in a defensive manner. You should look
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: at that as Wow, this person cares about me and
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: they're sharing this with me because they continue they want
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: to continue to be with me, because it would be
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: so easy just to go, you know what, not feeling
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: it anymore, I'm piecing out can we have.
- 1:37:57Speaker 23: Another ding time. Yes, yes, d Ding ding D come
- 1:38:01Speaker 23: do couples therapy.
- 1:38:02Speaker 29: Jim Tomorrow, You're not on air, You're going to be
- 1:38:05Speaker 29: in my office as my surrogate.
- 1:38:07Speaker 13: No, that is it.
- 1:38:08Speaker 29: And actually this is why I coach people in the
- 1:38:10Speaker 29: book and I try to on my sessions as well.
- 1:38:13Speaker 29: That exactly what you said to lead with.
- 1:38:15Speaker 23: Hey, I'm coming to you to share something about.
- 1:38:19Speaker 29: Me because this relationship is important to me, because I
- 1:38:22Speaker 29: love you, I care enough to try to address this thing.
- 1:38:25Speaker 29: This is super uncomfortable for me. I'm scared to bring
- 1:38:28Speaker 29: this up. I don't want to argue. When you lead
- 1:38:30Speaker 29: that way, you're being really transparent. You don't have your
- 1:38:33Speaker 29: armor on. You're not coming into battle like here, I
- 1:38:36Speaker 29: want to win and tell you why you're bad or wrong.
- 1:38:38Speaker 29: You're saying, Hey, I love you, I want this to
- 1:38:41Speaker 29: be good. So I'm willing to reveal more about myself.
- 1:38:43Speaker 29: And when you're vulnerable, it tends to when you're genuinely vulnerable,
- 1:38:47Speaker 29: which a lot of times in my office people are like,
- 1:38:49Speaker 29: I'm being vulnerable and I'm like, no.
- 1:38:52Speaker 23: You're sending up a major signals of danger. Right, I'm
- 1:38:56Speaker 23: sharing my feelings.
- 1:38:58Speaker 9: I feel like you're a total jerk.
- 1:39:00Speaker 23: You're wrong all the time, so you got to really
- 1:39:06Speaker 23: get vulnerable.
- 1:39:07Speaker 29: But when you do it and you drop that armor
- 1:39:09Speaker 29: and you tell someone I'm revealing this because I want
- 1:39:12Speaker 29: our relationship to be good and close, you often get
- 1:39:14Speaker 29: a very different response.
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: Really interesting, man, that's interesting stuff. Thank you for joining
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: us today, Thank you for having How fast does that go?
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Doesn't that suck? Yeah, it totally sucks. We have to
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: have you when you can say in like an hour
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: one time, I think that's what we'll do next time.
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: I think twenty minutes with you is like is way
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: too little, wist. I know we're just kind of getting
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: into it, and of course we're crushed today. We can't
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: do it. I know you are as well. But when
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: you come back in, I think we're going to schedule
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: a couple more segments so we can have a little
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: bit more time. Is that's all right?
- 1:39:40Speaker 29: I would love it and I'm happy to answer questions
- 1:39:43Speaker 29: and and do therapy on you, Jim.
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: I'd love it and I need it.
- 1:39:47Speaker 30: He yeah, yeah, Look how we talks to me, How
- 1:39:52Speaker 30: we talks to me this family therapy right here?
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: Fix sim Jack, I'm saying this because I care about you.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: There you go, you shut your stupid mouth.
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: See and yet it's lasted over twenty years.
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: I don't know how they've done it for those who
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: miscollects great advice though, I will be posting her podcast
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: in the next few minutes, so you'll still be able
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: to re listen to you.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: Very nice. Also, the book is called The Cost of Quiet,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: and I know if people to want to book a
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: session with you, that can do that as well.
- 1:40:20Speaker 23: Yes, thank you so much for having me, and I'll
- 1:40:22Speaker 23: come back anytime.

- 1:41:05Speaker 1: of age against the machine. We'll do that next sho
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: jays screw.
- 1:41:12Speaker 11: You know.
- 1:41:12Speaker 14: I'm of Italian descent, but you know, olive garden is
- 1:41:15Speaker 14: not my favorite, but every once in a while, you
- 1:41:17Speaker 14: just gotta have some olive garden.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:41:18Speaker 14: Man, even the salads. The salads are awesome. Buy the dressing,
- 1:41:22Speaker 14: the olive garden dressing. Try to remake it and it's
- 1:41:25Speaker 14: still not the same. But back during COVID, I was
- 1:41:27Speaker 14: in Honolulu and one of the tours going back to
- 1:41:30Speaker 14: the city pointed out that they had just got an
- 1:41:33Speaker 14: olive garden a few weeks before and there were still
- 1:41:35Speaker 14: lines around the corner because they never had it.
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: And that reminds me.
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: Sunday lunch, I wanted to try the new Jack in
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: the box right by me. They just opened up. Yeah,
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: they've been opened a little over a week. An hour
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: for the drive through Jesuise, they were lined up down
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: the block to go through the drive throat.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: I just saw a hot on the best burgers from
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: chain restaurants in America. If you think, was number one,
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: Jack and the Mount Jack in Box was the last
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: one in the list. Really, yeah, the very last one.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: Culver's was up there. Five guys was up there. You know,
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: places like that. Heh yeah, yeah, okay, I mean you're
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: really good, high quality. You know Whataburger I think In
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: and Out was the number one, and at Burger was
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: the best burger in the world, in the in the nation.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: But you know, even like Wendy's and all those guys
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: were way down there. I mean it was all these
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: you know, like a habit burger.
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: I've never had Jack in the Box, so I think
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: it's a novelty for many people. It is, yes, but
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: that line was the guy goes, it's gonna be at
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: least an hour.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah. When my grandfather was on dialysis, we
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: had to go over to Shan's and Gainesville to let
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: him do that. And Gainesville had a Jack in the
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: Box back in the day. We never even knew they
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: had burgers. All we got there was toncos God, all right,
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: welcome back them. Jim, there's deb hell, Jack is here?

- 1:44:10Speaker 8: The game where we figure.
- 1:44:11Speaker 12: Out which celebrity has been alive the longest or famous
- 1:44:14Speaker 12: names one stubborn survivor, no talents, no relevance, just who's
- 1:44:20Speaker 12: been avoiding the grave and still cashing checks.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Let's play, all right, Paul, at his time for another
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: round of Age against the Machine. Here are four people
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: from the business, sports, entertainment, and political realms. Your job
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: is to tell me who of these four people is
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: the oldest. Are you ready?
- 1:44:39Speaker 14: Yes, sir?
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: All right, but here we go. Number one, Cameron Diaz,
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: Number two, Marco Rubio, Number three, Gwen Stefani or lastly,
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: Jennifer Lopez.
- 1:44:51Speaker 8: Huh, Jennifer LoVa.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: That is the answer, your runner up, right, And by
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: the way, dude, not only is it the answer when
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: Stefani and Jalo are the exact same age. Jalo was
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: born in July, Stefani was born in October. They're both
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: fifty six years old, you know. Now, Oh wow, who
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: do you think the youngest out of the group is
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: Rubio No Cameron Diaz fifty three years old. Marco Rubio
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: is fifty four years old.
- 1:45:20Speaker 14: Wow.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Yeah, And I double checked because the AI thing last
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: week we had a little issue of this because of
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: when they were born. It just shows you the number.
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: I actually double check the actual dates, and I tried
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: to make it as close as possible. Jennifer Lopez is
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: the oldest. The reason I chose her because she looks
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: the youngest. She she looks like she's forty years old.
- 1:45:37Speaker 11: Dude.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: She sleeps like ten hours a day and that's what
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: she attributes all of her stuff to. Yeah, here's about that.
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: Speaking of that, here's some fun facts about Jennifer Lopez
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: before we get to the top of the hour. Ross
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: Paget will be calling us here in a second. She
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: was once a backup dancer for what band? Or a
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: nut band? Really?
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: What a Living Color?
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: She was on the TV show in Living Color. But
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: before she even got that, she was a backup dancer
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: for this group, not Salt and Peppa, very very popular
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: group actually, I believe if I remember the best selling
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: of this genre of.
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: Music, Destiny's Child, All for Men, the Boys.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: New Kids on the Block. Yeah, she was a backup
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: dancer for New Kids on the Block. In two thousand
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: and one, she became the first woman to have a
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: number one album and a number one movie in the
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: same week.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: Jennifer Lopez, he had a number one movie.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: Yeah, a Maide in a Manhattan or something that one.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: Matthew McConaughey, Yeah, something like that. Her trainers call her
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: and you'll know this lago tero of the guitar. Oh okay, Yeah,
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: in other words, because she's shaped like a guitar. Yeah, thanks, Jack,
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: appreciate that creepiness. And then lastly, here.
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: There's so many ways to poison your food?
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: How many fragrances has Jennifer Lopez released? Now you'll know
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: her very first one I think was a blockbuster hit
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: for her called Glow I think it was. And they
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: sold that thing everywhere that you could put a bottle
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: of Colonne on the top of a counter and people would.
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: I mean, they just sold so much of it was crazy.
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: How much did she have? Total?
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: Sixteen?
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: Not a bad guess, yeah, twelve, twenty five. Jennifer Lopez
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: endorses twenty five different fragrances. How about that wow? One
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: for every inch of her boodet.
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, she's doing just fine, although that last tour
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: plan kind of yeah yeah yeah time.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's crazy. But that was like a weird time, right,
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: Wasn't that at the end of COVID or something where
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: she tried to sell tickets and none of it was selling.
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: Or No, it was much more recently, and I think
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: the initial it just kind of fell really flat and
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: they're like, oh, we have to cancel it.
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: For another reason, she's got a reputation for being a
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: nightmare to deal with, like a yeah, really difficult person
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: to deal with, but you know, just starre all right.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: For the seven nine one six one, I guess when
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: they were Kish has two two sisters and this when
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: they interviewed the sisters about you know her, they said that, yeah,
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: Jennifer ran everything in the house, like she's just been
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: that kind of person since she was a child.
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: Is the oldest.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: She made all their plans, They did all the stuff
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: she wanted to do, all the play playing, she directed
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: all that stuff. I don't know if she's the oldest.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: I didn't see. All right, let's take a little break,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: we'll come back and do some ross paget time. What
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: do you say, all right, welcome back to the Jim

- 1:48:58Speaker 11: Thank you so much. Just let me just blow the
- 1:49:01Speaker 11: dust off of this little cabin right here and let
- 1:49:03Speaker 11: me open it up. And oh yeah, look at that
- 1:49:05Speaker 11: this weekend, Leesburg this Saturday.

- 1:49:15Speaker 11: you should check out tonight's episode because we are all
- 1:49:18Speaker 11: about finding out the details of how humans human. Jim
- 1:49:23Speaker 11: I accomplished that mission on episode ninety eight.
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: How human's human.
- 1:49:28Speaker 11: Yeah, explain please, it's just the big theme of our
- 1:49:33Speaker 11: good sauce. With Ross and Joel programming, we find the
- 1:49:37Speaker 11: infinite cosmos of details of what makes a human a
- 1:49:42Speaker 11: human just painfully fascinating. What makes culture into culture is
- 1:49:47Speaker 11: painfully fascinating. What people like, what people don't like, what
- 1:49:52Speaker 11: groups of people like, what groups of people don't like.
- 1:49:54Speaker 11: And Jim, where I'm going with this is that I
- 1:49:56Speaker 11: went to my first black wedding and I'm a new man.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: Really, tell me about this, Tell me about this.
- 1:50:06Speaker 9: I learned a lot about myself.
- 1:50:08Speaker 11: First and foremost, congratulations to Sean and Jasmine. I get it,
- 1:50:12Speaker 11: it's your wedding, But this isn't really about you right now.
- 1:50:15Speaker 11: This is about me cutting a commercial for all of
- 1:50:21Speaker 11: the white people who don't have black friends. Please try
- 1:50:26Speaker 11: harder because you're missing out. You were missing out.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: So tell me about this black wedding or let me
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: say this, tell me about this wedding between two people
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: who are African American. That's black wedding sons so wild.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: But were you the I mean, how many Caucasians in
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: the building that day?
- 1:50:45Speaker 11: It was me and my former roommate who showed up
- 1:50:49Speaker 11: to this wedding. We were the two colonizers as we
- 1:50:52Speaker 11: threw down. As we threw down jerk chicken and curry
- 1:50:58Speaker 11: something or another.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: It's got dude.
- 1:51:02Speaker 9: I was getting my sis law, I was getting my
- 1:51:05Speaker 9: capleton on.
- 1:51:06Speaker 11: By the end of the night, I'm screaming free booju,
- 1:51:09Speaker 11: I'm going to talk. I want dance all crazy. I
- 1:51:13Speaker 11: danced with the girl with a heroic amount of rhythm.
- 1:51:16Speaker 11: I already talked to my wife. I got the green light.
- 1:51:18Speaker 11: We can talk about it.
- 1:51:19Speaker 14: But just no.
- 1:51:21Speaker 9: We were both sweating because that was the most dancing
- 1:51:26Speaker 9: I have ever experienced.
- 1:51:28Speaker 11: At any wedding, bar none. We're talking ninety percent of
- 1:51:31Speaker 11: the people were on the dance was supposed.
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: To be a celebration. I mean, that's supposed to be happening.
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: It's only white people who were all pent up and
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: not dancing.
- 1:51:39Speaker 9: It's exactly right.
- 1:51:41Speaker 11: The only people who are not dancing at this wedding
- 1:51:44Speaker 11: had a blown hip and the guy who had a
- 1:51:47Speaker 11: cane still cut.
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: A rug like it was weird, and I was.
- 1:51:52Speaker 11: I asked myself, Olivia goes, how's the wedding? I go,
- 1:51:55Speaker 11: I'm having the most fun I've ever had at any
- 1:51:57Speaker 11: wedding probably including hours.
- 1:52:00Speaker 9: Oh my god, wow, I said, don't jump't growing on.
- 1:52:05Speaker 14: That off it?
- 1:52:06Speaker 11: Of course, I'm joking. That's a whole different culd de sac.
- 1:52:08Speaker 11: That's the our wedding is. So I mean, actually no,
- 1:52:13Speaker 11: it wasn't as much fun because your wedding is a
- 1:52:17Speaker 11: lot of work and it's like almost like a fever
- 1:52:20Speaker 11: dream going to going to this wedding.
- 1:52:23Speaker 9: Gym head, how about this dude?
- 1:52:25Speaker 11: I was the white guy with motion where the groom
- 1:52:28Speaker 11: kept getting texts like, hey, yo, what's up with big bird?
- 1:52:31Speaker 14: Who is this?
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: You brought the scarecrow?
- 1:52:35Speaker 24: Right?
- 1:52:35Speaker 11: So I will me paint this picture and then we'll
- 1:52:37Speaker 11: move on to another topic. On tonight's episode, there's guys,
- 1:52:41Speaker 11: there's girls. The room has divided. It's men versus women
- 1:52:46Speaker 11: and the ultimate dance off. But guess what men? Guess
- 1:52:49Speaker 11: what the men have? Little weapon chemical X emergency break
- 1:52:53Speaker 11: ross get hit him out here. I danced off with
- 1:52:57Speaker 11: the girl's best dancer. It was the coolest moment I
- 1:53:02Speaker 11: have ever felt. I felt needed, I felt loved and appreciated.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: Wow were you drinking that night?
- 1:53:09Speaker 9: A little bit of tequila? But let me throw this
- 1:53:11Speaker 9: out here.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: Not a lot I just.
- 1:53:13Speaker 9: Needed something to get the little get the dogs dance yah, get.
- 1:53:16Speaker 14: The going right?
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Wow. What part of town was this thing in?
- 1:53:21Speaker 9: It was in Maitland.
- 1:53:22Speaker 11: One of my favorite, one of my favorite laughs of
- 1:53:25Speaker 11: the night was that there was one guy who showed
- 1:53:27Speaker 11: up in a very loud shirt. By the end of
- 1:53:30Speaker 11: the night, the groom looks at him and goes, oh,
- 1:53:32Speaker 11: my god, you only got two buttons.
- 1:53:33Speaker 9: Left because he had danced off his buttons.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: That's great.
- 1:53:38Speaker 11: It was so it was so free, it was so awesome,
- 1:53:42Speaker 11: and it honestly is a huge celebratory black themed episode.
- 1:53:48Speaker 9: That happens tonight at eight o'clock.
- 1:53:50Speaker 11: I learned so much so quickly. How about this for
- 1:53:55Speaker 11: a showmanship for a wedding? And there tune in to
- 1:54:00Speaker 11: tonight because that's not my announcement to make, even though
- 1:54:03Speaker 11: I made it on my own program. And let's just say, uh,
- 1:54:08Speaker 11: there was a riddle. I will tell you this, no
- 1:54:09Speaker 11: cliffhangers here. There is a riddle that all the tables
- 1:54:12Speaker 11: had in an envelope and we open it up and
- 1:54:15Speaker 11: by the fourth table, someone finally guesses the right answer
- 1:54:19Speaker 11: and goes, is the answer, baby groom? Microphone underneath the table,
- 1:54:25Speaker 11: pulls it out and goes, We're three months pregnant.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: Bang damn dude, what damn an seen?
- 1:54:34Speaker 11: Your pregnancy at your wedding was one of the coolest
- 1:54:38Speaker 11: things I've ever got to experience.
- 1:54:40Speaker 9: And man, just weddings are so dope.
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome though, that is awesome.
- 1:54:45Speaker 9: So all that night, all of that tonight.
- 1:54:48Speaker 11: We also have a special guest, one of my, if
- 1:54:51Speaker 11: not my new favorite Orlando comedian who's on the come up.
- 1:54:55Speaker 11: Her name is tay tad it up. We kind of
- 1:54:57Speaker 11: learned more about black culture also through because she knows
- 1:55:01Speaker 11: and I do not. I thought about you dead when
- 1:55:06Speaker 11: we were recording this episode because I asked her who
- 1:55:09Speaker 11: her biggest celebrity was, Who's the biggest celebrity that like
- 1:55:13Speaker 11: she loves?
- 1:55:13Speaker 9: And she said, pooh shisty And I was like, feel
- 1:55:17Speaker 9: the same way I do.
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: A little loosey verb.
- 1:55:23Speaker 11: But let me ask. Let me ask the question for
- 1:55:31Speaker 11: the room. Who is the biggest celebrity you've been physically.
- 1:55:36Speaker 8: In proximity too?
- 1:55:37Speaker 9: You're asking me that all everybody on the show.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: Is that true? Yeah?
- 1:55:44Speaker 8: Wow?
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: Is that the truly the biggest celebrity you've ever been
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: mixed to no. I'll tell you. I'll tell you a
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: couple of them, and you let me know which one's
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: the biggest. What do you mean by like I mean
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: you go to a concert.
- 1:55:57Speaker 4: You could be twenty feet away, But you mean like
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: almost like a social atmosphere.
- 1:56:02Speaker 11: Yeah, I would say, how about the one celebrity that
- 1:56:06Speaker 11: made you go, well, let me.
- 1:56:08Speaker 9: Let me button up real fast.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: I was in the same room with John Paul Jones
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: from led Zeppelin, the bass players. The bass player for
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: Zeppelin also stood right next to Stephen Segal. I've talked
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: to Shaquille a billion times. Like all these dudes used
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: to be a million, now a billion. Yeah, all these wait, say.
- 1:56:26Speaker 11: One of those celebrities definitely jumps out and is not
- 1:56:29Speaker 11: like the other two.
- 1:56:30Speaker 9: Why would you name drop Steven between He's a.
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: Famous guy and I was and I was seen above
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: the law. Yeah, I was. He's a famous guy and
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: I was next to him at a club. I mean,
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: That's all I can tell you is that I didn't
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: meet him or anything because he's a dick, but I
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: was next to him. I mean sports guys Arnold melt It. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: I actually had lunch right next to him, So, I mean, yeah,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: how about Barackoball.
- 1:56:57Speaker 9: Deb the biggest celebrity like in or WHOA.
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: I interviewed Cindy Crawford.
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: Loved her, very cool, loved her so down to earth,
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: So she's just a Midwest girl. Sylvester Stallone probably one
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: of the most guarded celebrity you could tell. He's been
- 1:57:13Speaker 2: burned by the media so many times. I snuck onto
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: the lethal Weapon set and was mesmerized by mel Gibson's
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: blue eyes.
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: But I think those would probably be the biggest. Shaquille O'Neil. Yeah, Yo,
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: you're married, that's what that's when he asked me nineteen
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: years old at.
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: A club where you're from you married, I'm.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: Like, I'm engaged. He was so respectful, though.
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: I gotta sign you got thirty five? Shoot you know?
- 1:57:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I do go over there.
- 1:57:39Speaker 11: It's funny, like it's almost like your citizenship. I d
- 1:57:43Speaker 11: if you have a Shaquille O'Neil story here, and oh
- 1:57:45Speaker 11: yeah it is. Really it is like it should come
- 1:57:48Speaker 11: with like a bumper sticker, like I've had a shock
- 1:57:51Speaker 11: interaction back into six or something.
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: Yeah, why do you ask?
- 1:57:54Speaker 9: I was uh.
- 1:57:55Speaker 11: The reason why I asked because my biggest celebrity moment.
- 1:57:58Speaker 9: And listen, I don't want to say this. I don't
- 1:58:01Speaker 9: want I don't want to say it.
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: I was gonna ask you about this, tell me about it.
- 1:58:06Speaker 9: It Lionel Messi was in Orlando.
- 1:58:11Speaker 11: Yeah, Lionel Messi was in Orlando playing the Orlando City
- 1:58:15Speaker 11: Lions this past weekend. And listen, I'm a big to
- 1:58:19Speaker 11: the people who care. I like English soccer. I don't
- 1:58:22Speaker 11: like La Liga. I've never cared about that league. But
- 1:58:25Speaker 11: I also have been following the beautiful game for the
- 1:58:28Speaker 11: last twenty years. And twenty years is also kind of
- 1:58:31Speaker 11: when he broke out as a teenager. Seeing Messy about
- 1:58:37Speaker 11: ten feet away made me feel so uncomfortable, so jarring.
- 1:58:46Speaker 11: Hearing what people and how his perception and how he
- 1:58:51Speaker 11: is treated. Just ten feet away. You can feel the
- 1:58:56Speaker 11: eyeball juice and everybody behind you swishing to the left
- 1:59:00Speaker 11: if he moves to the left, right, how about this.
- 1:59:04Speaker 11: There is a time when he is warming up and
- 1:59:07Speaker 11: by all means, let me preface this, but let me
- 1:59:08Speaker 11: throw this down. I wanted this man to lose. I
- 1:59:11Speaker 11: do not want I was rooting against him. I did
- 1:59:15Speaker 11: not I'm not supporting him. All right, I'm an Orlando
- 1:59:18Speaker 11: City Lion till the day I die. But I will
- 1:59:21Speaker 11: never forget how he reminded me of Well one time
- 1:59:26Speaker 11: I was in beach water and a school of fish
- 1:59:29Speaker 11: started jumping in and out of the water towards me.
- 1:59:32Speaker 11: As I heard the splashing get louder. Where am I
- 1:59:35Speaker 11: going with this? When he was warming up, Jim, you
- 1:59:39Speaker 11: would hear the white noise of messy.
- 1:59:42Speaker 9: Messy, messy, messy, messy, messy, messy, messy, get closer wherever
- 1:59:47Speaker 9: he ran to.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: Oh wow, really, everybody's trying to get his attention.
- 1:59:53Speaker 11: It was a wave of people calling out his name
- 1:59:57Speaker 11: every step of that entire higher warm up, and here
- 2:00:01Speaker 11: I am ten feet away from him, thinking, God, I
- 2:00:05Speaker 11: hope you lose, and then God, I cannot believe you
- 2:00:11Speaker 11: are here in front of me. It was truly to
- 2:00:14Speaker 11: go into more details about that match, which was a
- 2:00:16Speaker 11: very special match, it was an insane memory that I
- 2:00:20Speaker 11: think a lot of soccer fans here will never forget.
- 2:00:24Speaker 11: I know I will never forget, and I look forward
- 2:00:26Speaker 11: to the revenge match when we take them on over
- 2:00:29Speaker 11: in Fort Lauderdale later this year.
- 2:00:31Speaker 9: And there's so much to unpack on tonight's episode. I
- 2:00:34Speaker 9: really hope people take the time to give it a try.
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: Tonight at eight o'clock. It's good sauce with Ross and
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: Joel Renado on the show tonight. Yes, sir, very nice.
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: And of course you'll be with us tomorrow on Friday,
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: that is true. And to forget your U and you're
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: doing stand about in.
- 2:00:49Speaker 11: Leesburg at the melon Patch Tropic Theater. This is a
- 2:00:53Speaker 11: massive show for me trying to really give a damn
- 2:00:56Speaker 11: this SERI and this performance is for a lease Burg everybody.
- 2:01:01Speaker 4: And then after that you turn your clock ahead and
- 2:01:03Speaker 4: then Sunday you're on the bourbon bus.
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: Boom.
- 2:01:09Speaker 9: That's that face isn't over the bourbon bus. That face
- 2:01:11Speaker 9: is over the fact that we have to turn our
- 2:01:13Speaker 9: clocks back already.
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeahing forward an hour, you lose an hour of sleep, lose.
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: An hour of sleep. You'll be fine though you have
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: a baby.
- 2:01:24Speaker 9: I just pretended to set my toe.
- 2:01:27Speaker 1: Bourbon awaits you, Bourbon awaits you, plus so much other
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: thing someone, so many other things.
- 2:01:32Speaker 9: It's all going down, all right.
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: It gets us night o'clock, all right for seven nine
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: one six one four one text to seven seven zero
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: three one back in a second more than Gym.
- 2:01:44Speaker 20: Joe Hey show it stept. It's prior to becoming a popo.
- 2:01:58Speaker 20: For many years I worked at all of Garden in
- 2:02:00Speaker 20: the back back there. A lot of people say it's
- 2:02:03Speaker 20: fast food Italian, that it all comes with can or
- 2:02:06Speaker 20: frozen or something.
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: Let me assure you.
- 2:02:08Speaker 20: I spent many, many, and many hours in the backpack
- 2:02:10Speaker 20: there making everything from scratch, so it's a good place
- 2:02:16Speaker 20: to work. I still have some of the recipes, especially
- 2:02:19Speaker 20: the boss of visual if it.
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: Gets up to death dark Isn't Darkan considered one of
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: the best places to work in central Florida? Aren't the
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: weren't at one point considered one of the best companies
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: to work for in the state. I think they were
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: not familiar with that. Yeah, all right, go ahead.
- 2:02:35Speaker 9: Hey guys.
- 2:02:36Speaker 3: I was so excited to hear that that young Italian
- 2:02:40Speaker 3: loved Olive Garden.
- 2:02:43Speaker 29: I was in Italy last May for.
- 2:02:46Speaker 21: Twelve days from Venice to Rome, and I felt so
- 2:02:49Speaker 21: bad because I thought the food was.
- 2:02:51Speaker 19: So bland, and everyone was asking how was the food?
- 2:02:54Speaker 26: How was the food?
- 2:02:55Speaker 19: And I hated to say it, but give me Olive
- 2:02:58Speaker 19: Garden any day, have a great day.
- 2:03:01Speaker 11: I love you guys.
- 2:03:03Speaker 19: Oh and I forgot to say, I'm also an Italian
- 2:03:05Speaker 19: from New Jersey and grew up with homemade sauces and.
- 2:03:10Speaker 9: All that kind of thing.
- 2:03:12Speaker 23: But I just did not enjoy the food in Italy.
- 2:03:15Speaker 1: I've heard that. I've heard that from a number of
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: people here, he said. Yeah, Dartin Restaurants was recognized as
- 2:03:19Speaker 1: one of the one hundred best companies to work for
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: by Fortune magazine, and they actually did it three or
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: four years in a row. Not bad, not bad.
- 2:03:27Speaker 31: What's up Colbert Show? Yeah, talking about Tears for Fears.
- 2:03:31Speaker 31: It's a really good live concert that my girlfriend and
- 2:03:35Speaker 31: I actually saw in a movie theater a couple of
- 2:03:38Speaker 31: years ago. It is the Tipping Point Tour. It was
- 2:03:42Speaker 31: done in twenty twenty two and they play in a
- 2:03:45Speaker 31: massive quarry in Tennessee. It's beautiful and it sounds incredible
- 2:03:50Speaker 31: and they're a great live band. It's worth seeing if
- 2:03:52Speaker 31: you get them about an hour and a half long.
- 2:03:54Speaker 31: It's really good.
- 2:03:55Speaker 28: See ya, thanks Buddy Good After the Coolbert Man, I'll
- 2:04:00Speaker 28: tell you what, I am getting a little bit sad,
- 2:04:03Speaker 28: getting a little bit of fomo from this Bourbon bus.
- 2:04:06Speaker 6: I am no Bourbon fan. But I know that thing
- 2:04:09Speaker 6: is going to be full of good time, good people,
- 2:04:11Speaker 6: good drinks.
- 2:04:12Speaker 9: And I'll tell you what next time.
- 2:04:13Speaker 12: Probably just got to join in and gave Bourbon another
- 2:04:16Speaker 12: shot because I can't miss this.
- 2:04:18Speaker 8: So remember, life is like a door best to used
- 2:04:21Speaker 8: before expiration.
- 2:04:22Speaker 9: Fish can fly, and i'b a trusted cow because the
- 2:04:25Speaker 9: sun can't swim. Big t yep, all.
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: Right for seven ninetie four one. Text seven to seven
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: zero three one on Jim, there's deb Hello, Jack is
- 2:04:33Speaker 1: here as well? Lost me there? Yeah, the I didn't
- 2:04:36Speaker 1: get that one either. All garden had a lot of
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: heat today, man. We talked about a Holli garden in
- 2:04:40Speaker 1: uh the Italian exchange student who went into an olive
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: garden and his buddies thought he was going to lose
- 2:04:46Speaker 1: his mind on it, and it turned out he thought
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: everything in there was delicious.
- 2:04:49Speaker 2: And it turned out somebody texted us earlier at seven
- 2:04:51Speaker 2: seven zero three one saying someone they know their daughter
- 2:04:55Speaker 2: is like the like the media director and has already
- 2:04:58Speaker 2: reached out to that young man in starting to work
- 2:05:01Speaker 2: with him.
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: Oh really, Oh yeah, yeah that's great man. So yeah,
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: that's cool.
- 2:05:05Speaker 3: It makes sense.
- 2:05:06Speaker 2: It's literally it's if you remember before he became the
- 2:05:09Speaker 2: scourge of the earth, and rightfully so.
- 2:05:11Speaker 3: It's how Jared became the spokesperson for subway.
- 2:05:13Speaker 1: That's right.
- 2:05:13Speaker 2: Yeah, he just started losing weight on this subway diet,
- 2:05:16Speaker 2: you know, and the next thing you know, he becomes
- 2:05:18Speaker 2: the national spokesperson before we find out he's a disgusting
- 2:05:21Speaker 2: ped up.
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: Well two words for olive garden background check.
- 2:05:24Speaker 3: Exactly, bet and bet again.
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: Could you imagine if it turned off man was a
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: terrible dude? It's like two for two we lost. I
- 2:05:34Speaker 1: sawed Jared two days before he got arrested.
- 2:05:36Speaker 4: No way where Daytona International Way, No Daytona five hundred.
- 2:05:41Speaker 4: I was at the race and he was in the
- 2:05:43Speaker 4: winter circle. Oh not really, Yeah, well at the time
- 2:05:47Speaker 4: he was Yeah, two days.
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: I think it was like the following Mondays when all
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: of that went down. The chorus Preacher, the correspondence between
- 2:05:56Speaker 1: Jared Fogel and that woman who he was talking.
- 2:05:58Speaker 3: To actually is the one who work to bust him.
- 2:06:00Speaker 1: It sure is. Is some of the most disturbing stuff
- 2:06:04Speaker 1: I've ever read. From me. There's a lot of stuff
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: out there from pedophiles when you when you consider their cases,
- 2:06:09Speaker 1: but his was considering his personality and what America knew
- 2:06:13Speaker 1: of him and how he was framed, and then hearing
- 2:06:16Speaker 1: him talk like that, and it's definitely him. It's no
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: questions his word.
- 2:06:19Speaker 19: I mean.
- 2:06:19Speaker 2: And again, we were so happy when he lost all
- 2:06:22Speaker 2: that way that he got married and then he started
- 2:06:24Speaker 2: having kids and you're thinking, Yay, this formerly obese young
- 2:06:28Speaker 2: man is getting the life he always wanted. And I
- 2:06:31Speaker 2: couldn't even make it exactly. And I couldn't even make
- 2:06:34Speaker 2: it all the way through that documentary. It was just
- 2:06:36Speaker 2: it was just like you felt like you were just
- 2:06:38Speaker 2: like you needed to burn your house down after you
- 2:06:40Speaker 2: watched it.
- 2:06:40Speaker 1: Now I need more uplifting documentary. Yeah, exactly same. And
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: by the way, that whole genre and if you remember,
- 2:06:46Speaker 1: we started talking about that genre of European kids coming
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: to America and trying foods. What was that two years ago,
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: a year and a half ago we started talking about that.
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: It was those English guys, those kids from that English
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: prep school. The two dudes had come over and they
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: did it by themselves. They just filmed themselves coming to
- 2:07:03Speaker 1: America eating everything from barbecue to meat loaf to all
- 2:07:07Speaker 1: of our stereotypical American food. It blew up so big
- 2:07:10Speaker 1: they went back to England and brought some students over
- 2:07:13Speaker 1: with them and did an entire series with kids, like,
- 2:07:15Speaker 1: you know, fifteen sixteen year old kids, and that thing
- 2:07:18Speaker 1: went like astronomical, dude, and that whole thing has now
- 2:07:22Speaker 1: become like another genre in social media world, which is
- 2:07:26Speaker 1: kind of I like that, So I think it's fun.
- 2:07:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it is, especially watching them go to BUCkies for
- 2:07:30Speaker 3: the first time.
- 2:07:31Speaker 1: Oh my god, dude. The barbecue thing still is my
- 2:07:33Speaker 1: favorite of all time. That one kid, I think almost
- 2:07:36Speaker 1: had an Oh well.
- 2:07:38Speaker 2: My favorite part was when he grabbed his knife and
- 2:07:40Speaker 2: fork and the chef came by or and just slapped
- 2:07:43Speaker 2: the utensils out of his hand and was like, no, no, no,
- 2:07:45Speaker 2: not in my restaurant. Exactly, not intry. I was scared
- 2:07:48Speaker 2: to pick it up with your hands. You eat it
- 2:07:50Speaker 2: with your hands.
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he was scared that all right, four seven nine
- 2:07:57Speaker 1: six one four one Again you'd always text us at
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: seven seven zero three one. So Dubai is an interesting place,
- 2:08:02Speaker 1: would you guys agree with that? Yes, where chocolate comes from? Yeah, right,
- 2:08:06Speaker 1: that's where chocolate comes from. Well, you know, Warner Brothers
- 2:08:10Speaker 1: has kind of started working with Dubai or Abu Dhabi
- 2:08:13Speaker 1: in that area over there, and they're bringing a very
- 2:08:16Speaker 1: emerit Well it's really not American, it's an English brand,
- 2:08:20Speaker 1: but I think it really kind of gained its major
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: popularity maybe over here. And they're going to open up
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: a they're going to open up a like a like
- 2:08:29Speaker 1: a themed property with this particular brand, Abu Dhabi. Yeah,

- 2:08:52Speaker 1: And I wanted to ask you guys, so that thing,
- 2:08:54Speaker 1: I'm so confused that thing too. That thing still has
- 2:08:57Speaker 1: a lot of juice. The Harry Potter World is still
- 2:08:59Speaker 1: just going strong, like nothing ever happened. Those books have
- 2:09:02Speaker 1: been out for fifteen years.
- 2:09:04Speaker 4: They just opened Epic Universe and it's one of the
- 2:09:07Speaker 4: portals in Epic Universe.
- 2:09:09Speaker 1: Unbelievable.
- 2:09:09Speaker 2: Not to mention they're getting ready to do the new
- 2:09:11Speaker 2: Harry Potter television series really place.
- 2:09:15Speaker 1: They're redoing the the book.
- 2:09:17Speaker 4: They're redoing the books as a TV series through HBO, which.
- 2:09:21Speaker 1: Is Warner Brothers, which is now Powermount Plus. It says, here,
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: what's happening is this Muggles and wizards alike, Grab your
- 2:09:29Speaker 1: flu powder on what that is it?
- 2:09:31Speaker 3: Flu?
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: Is the chimney run powder?
- 2:09:34Speaker 14: All right?
- 2:09:35Speaker 27: It says, Uh.
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: They're expanding in the world in a way we've never
- 2:09:38Speaker 1: seen before. World Abu Dhabi is said to become the
- 2:09:41Speaker 1: ultimate destination for fans of the Boy Who Lived as

- 2:09:49Speaker 1: this is in Abu Dhabi, it is give it to
- 2:09:53Speaker 1: that part of the world. According to a government issued permit,
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: the upcoming expansion will be the first and only location

- 2:10:03Speaker 1: both Hogwarts Castle and Digon Alley. They got the Right
- 2:10:08Speaker 1: Change Well. Universal famously features both iconic locales. They are
- 2:10:12Speaker 1: split between two separate theme parks connected by Hogwarts Express
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: and Abu Dhabi. The legendary spots are locked in to
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: stand side by side. Hmmm. It said that it will
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: be the world's largest indoor theme park by about twenty
- 2:10:26Speaker 1: twenty six percent, and it isn't stopping at the wand
- 2:10:29Speaker 1: Shops of London. Permits also describe a proposed Superman coaster
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: and an area listed as fours.
- 2:10:36Speaker 14: What is that?
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: Is that a Harry Potter thing f O R E
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: s which they think is going to be the Forbidden Forest?
- 2:10:43Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah, I mean I had no idea that
- 2:10:46Speaker 1: Harry Potter still had that much juice. Again, it was
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: way past my prime. My kids loved it. I think
- 2:10:52Speaker 1: I got a daughter that read every book twice, but
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: I never got into it. And we'd go out broadcast
- 2:10:57Speaker 1: Universal Studios and it'd get there in the had of summer,
- 2:11:00Speaker 1: and those kids would come pouring in to the Universal
- 2:11:04Speaker 1: Studios fully like in the capes, the whole nine yards.
- 2:11:09Speaker 4: It's like rolling through the park. It's still happening, is
- 2:11:12Speaker 4: it really? I was walking out of Universal Saturday night
- 2:11:15Speaker 4: and Sunday night and there were you know, a kid
- 2:11:18Speaker 4: in front of me had his wand really, yeah, just
- 2:11:20Speaker 4: bought it.
- 2:11:22Speaker 1: Were you into that? And do you do the whole thing?
- 2:11:24Speaker 5: You like?
- 2:11:24Speaker 1: The Potter thing? Have you read all the books? Oh,
- 2:11:26Speaker 1: my goodness, you've read every book. It's like a new
- 2:11:28Speaker 1: person where we get introduced to a new jam.
- 2:11:33Speaker 11: You have.
- 2:11:33Speaker 1: So I have so many things the thing you talk about.
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: I don't remember everything I say, I apologize for that.
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: Do you have you read all that? You've read every
- 2:11:40Speaker 1: one of them? Because we only have to remember this.
- 2:11:44Speaker 2: When I showed up for the fifth book, I actually
- 2:11:47Speaker 2: went dressed in character.
- 2:11:49Speaker 1: Did you really?
- 2:11:50Speaker 2: Along with my mother and my sister in law, we
- 2:11:52Speaker 2: waited a line at midnight to get the fifth book?
- 2:11:55Speaker 3: See that.
- 2:11:55Speaker 2: The problem here, Jimmy, is that you have no frame
- 2:11:58Speaker 2: of reference for it. You have really seen the movies.
- 2:12:01Speaker 1: I don't have any frame of reference to any of it.
- 2:12:02Speaker 1: I know my kids liked the books, but they were
- 2:12:04Speaker 1: twelve years old when they were reading them. I read
- 2:12:06Speaker 1: all about Yeah. I mean they were fantastic.
- 2:12:09Speaker 3: Yeah, so I've seen one.
- 2:12:10Speaker 2: Basically, your exposure has been twelve year old kids, but
- 2:12:12Speaker 2: you haven't been around any adults that.
- 2:12:14Speaker 1: I've seen one movie. I know the thing's popular, but
- 2:12:17Speaker 1: I don't. Again, it seems like to me that all
- 2:12:19Speaker 1: that stuff have someone has shelf life. So I didn't
- 2:12:22Speaker 1: know that it's still had enough shelf life to open
- 2:12:24Speaker 1: up an entire new theme park, but in a completely
- 2:12:27Speaker 1: different part of the world.
- 2:12:28Speaker 4: But Epic Universe just opened and one of the whole
- 2:12:31Speaker 4: worlds is Potter.
- 2:12:33Speaker 3: The Ministry of Magic.
- 2:12:34Speaker 1: But would you guys think that they would open this
- 2:12:36Speaker 1: up in the middle of the desert, Yes, you would
- 2:12:38Speaker 1: think that, like that would be God because what they wanted.
- 2:12:41Speaker 2: To do is scrape off some of the European tourists
- 2:12:43Speaker 2: who would be coming to Universal, because this is the
- 2:12:45Speaker 2: only park right now in the world where you can
- 2:12:47Speaker 2: experience Harry Potter. So if you want to scrape off
- 2:12:50Speaker 2: some of that tourist dollars and you want to figure
- 2:12:53Speaker 2: roller coasters, they've got that. What's the one attraction that
- 2:12:57Speaker 2: isn't in any of the other parks really the kind
- 2:13:00Speaker 2: of scale that they're talking Yeah, I guess so, and
- 2:13:03Speaker 2: that you know, Harry Potter fans are like Star Wars fans.
- 2:13:06Speaker 2: They'll travel to where the experience is going to be
- 2:13:09Speaker 2: that much better. Now, that didn't work out that way
- 2:13:11Speaker 2: necessarily at Disney MGM, and.
- 2:13:13Speaker 1: That's kind of what I built my entire thing on.
- 2:13:15Speaker 1: Like you know, they tried to do Star Wars. I
- 2:13:17Speaker 1: think it's been out since seventy seven and it still
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: has tons of shelf life obviously, but they went hard
- 2:13:22Speaker 1: in the Star Wars thing, and they ate s on
- 2:13:24Speaker 1: it because it built an entire hotel.
- 2:13:25Speaker 2: There's the amount of money that it costs families to
- 2:13:28Speaker 2: actually go and immerse themselves in the experience.
- 2:13:30Speaker 3: It was just too cost prohibitive it for them to
- 2:13:32Speaker 3: keep it busy.
- 2:13:33Speaker 2: Isn't that kind of the point though, No, because if
- 2:13:36Speaker 2: you make it cost prohibitive, then what you're building for families,
- 2:13:39Speaker 2: specifically families to come and visit, they can't because it's
- 2:13:42Speaker 2: cost prohibitive.
- 2:13:43Speaker 1: Was it really a family thing hotel? Yeah, I didn't
- 2:13:46Speaker 1: know that was a family thing. I thought that was
- 2:13:48Speaker 1: like you want the immersive experience. I don't know that
- 2:13:51Speaker 1: it was both, but it was.
- 2:13:52Speaker 3: It was, you know, prepared for families to come and enjoy.
- 2:13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I did not believe that. I thought that it
- 2:13:57Speaker 1: actually was like just for super fans who wanted to
- 2:13:59Speaker 1: come in and like live a Star Wars weekend within
- 2:14:02Speaker 1: the context of a ship that looks exactly like it.
- 2:14:05Speaker 1: That's what I thought it was for.
- 2:14:06Speaker 4: Well, it's not going to be an adults only thing,
- 2:14:08Speaker 4: just like you have theme park adults. Right, you're Disney
- 2:14:12Speaker 4: old question, right. However, they don't make all their money
- 2:14:16Speaker 4: on that. They need families. That's the core of their business.
- 2:14:20Speaker 3: For Disney, it was serving both.
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: It was just a bad idea with good ip. Yeah,
- 2:14:25Speaker 1: and again, I guess that's about how I base that on. There, Like,
- 2:14:28Speaker 1: if you are in Orlando in the context and the
- 2:14:31Speaker 1: dead center of theme park World, everybody on planet Earth
- 2:14:35Speaker 1: wants to come here and experience theme park stuff, and
- 2:14:38Speaker 1: it still didn't make it. And I don't care how
- 2:14:41Speaker 1: much it costs, because people will pay those crazy prices
- 2:14:43Speaker 1: for experiences like that. Now, well obviously they won't, but
- 2:14:46Speaker 1: that's kind of what I was basing that on. I
- 2:14:47Speaker 1: like the idea that Universal spent tens of millions of
- 2:14:50Speaker 1: dollars to build a hotel. It was open eighteen months,
- 2:14:54Speaker 1: I mean, and that's kind of what I based on.
- 2:14:55Speaker 1: I was like, well, you're gonna build an entire theme
- 2:14:57Speaker 1: park indoor in Abu Dabi, and you're expect people to
- 2:15:00Speaker 1: travel I guess from where.
- 2:15:02Speaker 3: It'd be mainly the Middle East in Europe.
- 2:15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think they're expecting a big, you know,
- 2:15:06Speaker 2: influx from the United States. They're trying to keep the
- 2:15:09Speaker 2: tourists over there instead of coming over here and spending
- 2:15:12Speaker 2: their money.
- 2:15:12Speaker 1: Faster to go to Abba Dabi from Europe than America. Yes,
- 2:15:16Speaker 1: it is, Yes, eight hours to England. From here.
- 2:15:21Speaker 2: Plus it depends on visas. Yeah, traveling here is not
- 2:15:24Speaker 2: necessarily easy. Interesting again, if you're going to Star Wars,
- 2:15:27Speaker 2: you also maybe want to go check out Universal or
- 2:15:29Speaker 2: checkout SeaWorld. But if you're blowing your entire wad and
- 2:15:32Speaker 2: then some yeah, it just it just it was something
- 2:15:35Speaker 2: that their core audience couldn't keep up with and it
- 2:15:38Speaker 2: just wasn't viable, right, And.
- 2:15:40Speaker 1: I thought also the aging out thing, like if you'll
- 2:15:42Speaker 1: get Nintendo, Like Nintendo's been around for fifty years or
- 2:15:45Speaker 1: something like that, but it's still focused toward like kids,
- 2:15:49Speaker 1: Kids nowadays can still do the Nintendo thing. What I
- 2:15:52Speaker 1: was trying trying to pay do kids like, do twelve
- 2:15:54Speaker 1: year olds now still read Potter? Even with Demon Hunters
- 2:15:57Speaker 1: and all that stuff out there, kpop and all that is,
- 2:15:59Speaker 1: that's still a thing.
- 2:16:00Speaker 2: That's part of the reason why you know, K pop
- 2:16:03Speaker 2: even existed is because the popularity of Harry Potter. What
- 2:16:07Speaker 2: was the thing you were saying to before that, Like,
- 2:16:09Speaker 2: you know, Nintendo was a thing for kids, but I
- 2:16:12Speaker 2: mean Ross and his wife played their Nintendo Switch on
- 2:16:14Speaker 2: the couch, so it's not just a kid thing and.
- 2:16:17Speaker 1: It's only bigger. Again, another part of another UNIVERSI is
- 2:16:21Speaker 1: another portal?
- 2:16:22Speaker 13: Is all that?
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: Yeah understood?
- 2:16:24Speaker 26: Yeah?
- 2:16:24Speaker 4: Yeah Again at city Walk they change where that you
- 2:16:28Speaker 4: said the surfboard and the cinnamon.
- 2:16:30Speaker 1: Now that's a Nintendo store.
- 2:16:32Speaker 3: Oh wow where you.
- 2:16:33Speaker 1: Can buy merch. Yeah yeah, yeah, well they took that
- 2:16:35Speaker 1: out because they took the surfboard out and people lost
- 2:16:37Speaker 1: their mind. Right, that's the first photo you ever. I mean,
- 2:16:40Speaker 1: that's the first picture you take when you're coming in
- 2:16:42Speaker 1: the Universal, yeah, or the last one you take when
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: you're leaving.
- 2:16:44Speaker 2: Somebody just texted us at seven seven zero three one.
- 2:16:46Speaker 2: I would have loved going to the Star Wars hotel,
- 2:16:48Speaker 2: but they priced me out. They were the prices were.
- 2:16:51Speaker 1: Like yeah yeah. I think the family was like what
- 2:16:54Speaker 1: ten grand for the weekend or something.
- 2:16:55Speaker 4: And I don't think they're gonna like build that Hogwarts
- 2:16:58Speaker 4: too fast in Abu Dhaba until the drone attraction is over.
- 2:17:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the favorite one, right, attraction is very explosive.
- 2:17:10Speaker 1: I hear the Patriot display is not bad either. What
- 2:17:13Speaker 1: do you got for you here to here?
- 2:17:14Speaker 2: First legendary coach Lou Holtz has died. Attention dog owners.
- 2:17:19Speaker 2: Some dog treats have been recalled and that includes right
- 2:17:22Speaker 2: here in our state, and then an emotional homecoming for
- 2:17:25Speaker 2: a Veelusia County Deputy injured in the line of line
- 2:17:28Speaker 2: of duty. This man couldn't be any more cute like
- 2:17:31Speaker 2: a little boy, and we'll talk about that next during
- 2:17:33Speaker 2: You heard it here from You.
- 2:17:33Speaker 1: Got It all Right for seven nine four one text
- 2:17:36Speaker 1: seven to seven zero three one back in a second.
- 2:17:37Speaker 1: You're already your first and we'll get the hell out here.
- 2:17:39Speaker 1: On a Wednesday, our.

- 2:20:58Speaker 4: thirty to eight thirty. We've added you can register to
- 2:21:01Speaker 4: win tickets to Earth Day Birth.
- 2:21:03Speaker 1: Really yep, that's nice, absolutely very nice. That's coming up
- 2:21:07Speaker 1: March twenty first. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then we have
- 2:21:09Speaker 1: a bunch of other stuff. I didn't get to this
- 2:21:11Speaker 1: pope story today, I think is fascinating. Did you guys
- 2:21:14Speaker 1: hear about the Pope kind of coming out and saying, hey, look, priest, what,
- 2:21:18Speaker 1: by the way, what is a homily a sermon?
- 2:21:21Speaker 14: Oh?
- 2:21:21Speaker 1: That's a sermon? Yeah, oh gotcha, swit's it in time.
- 2:21:23Speaker 1: So the Pope doesn't want the Pope doesn't want priest
- 2:21:27Speaker 1: using AI to write their homilies. He wants them the
- 2:21:32Speaker 1: right of themself. I agree with that you should write
- 2:21:34Speaker 1: that yourself. I mean, you've committed your life to this lifestyle.
- 2:21:37Speaker 1: You should show and show that, and you know, write
- 2:21:40Speaker 1: that sermon yourself. It's supposed to come from the heart anyway,
- 2:21:43Speaker 1: it should not come from chat GPT. The other thing, though,
- 2:21:45Speaker 1: I do not agree with he says that I don't
- 2:21:47Speaker 1: think they should be doing things to get like likes
- 2:21:49Speaker 1: on TikTok, and I guess like there's some priests out
- 2:21:52Speaker 1: there doing some things to kind of trying to bring
- 2:21:54Speaker 1: attention to themselves or something.
- 2:21:55Speaker 2: Or It's funny though, because you know, we we've talked
- 2:21:58Speaker 2: about the DJ priest right.
- 2:22:00Speaker 1: That, Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was bad ass by the way,
- 2:22:02Speaker 1: thousands of people in front.
- 2:22:03Speaker 2: Of yeah exactly, Pope Francis blessed his headphones. But again,
- 2:22:08Speaker 2: Pope Leo also had him perform at a birthday party.
- 2:22:11Speaker 2: It's such a fine line because the things I've seen
- 2:22:13Speaker 2: have been funny. It's priests talking about how they avoid
- 2:22:16Speaker 2: sweets during lens right right right, you know, inviting you
- 2:22:19Speaker 2: to pray with them during Advent, and the sound of
- 2:22:22Speaker 2: crickets as they wait for people to sign up.
- 2:22:24Speaker 3: I haven't seen anything objectionable.
- 2:22:25Speaker 1: If I read it right. Why do you think that
- 2:22:27Speaker 1: he has a problem with it? And to be honest
- 2:22:29Speaker 1: with you, I would think if you were a strict
- 2:22:31Speaker 1: Catholic and you looked at it from the papal, you know,
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: point of view, that maybe you would see it like this.
- 2:22:37Speaker 4: What do you think, Well, yeah, you don't want to
- 2:22:40Speaker 4: be doing anything to gain likes. That takes you away
- 2:22:44Speaker 4: from the message that you're supposed to be sharing.
- 2:22:48Speaker 2: And for a lot of people on social media, it's
- 2:22:50Speaker 2: hard not to put yourself in the center of that.
- 2:22:53Speaker 3: That's instead of God.
- 2:22:54Speaker 1: That's what the pope said. He goes, I don't want.
- 2:22:56Speaker 1: I don't like the idea of the priests will bring
- 2:22:58Speaker 1: attention to themselves. And I just agree with that because
- 2:23:00Speaker 1: isn't the idea the priest is part of the church.
- 2:23:03Speaker 1: Matter of fact, I would say an integral part of
- 2:23:04Speaker 1: the church. Matter of fact. I think maybe the connection
- 2:23:07Speaker 1: that a lot of people have with the church is
- 2:23:09Speaker 1: through the priest. I mean, wouldn't you want your priest
- 2:23:11Speaker 1: out there trying not You're not prophesizing by any means,
- 2:23:14Speaker 1: but you are showing humanity, and a lot of people
- 2:23:17Speaker 1: maybe have a preconceived notion of what a priest is like,
- 2:23:19Speaker 1: and that would break that up and make it me
- 2:23:21Speaker 1: maybe more inviting.
- 2:23:23Speaker 4: My last church, I went because of the priest, like
- 2:23:27Speaker 4: I had a connection with him and went and then
- 2:23:29Speaker 4: he retired and I stopped going, right exactly, dude, But no, See,
- 2:23:33Speaker 4: the point being is I wasn't what the pope wants
- 2:23:37Speaker 4: is he wants people to.
- 2:23:39Speaker 1: Be there for God, for God, not for the priest.
- 2:23:44Speaker 3: I mean, I get it, but we're still human.
- 2:23:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. All right, let's do
- 2:23:48Speaker 1: you heard it here first?
- 2:23:51Speaker 12: It's time for you heard it here first on the
- 2:23:54Speaker 12: Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:23:56Speaker 2: Just in case you missed when Jack and Jim had
- 2:23:58Speaker 2: broke this news earlier today, just wanted to make sure
- 2:24:01Speaker 2: that you did know that former Noturder Dame football coaching

- 2:24:17Speaker 2: member earned a national title while coaching the Fighting Irish
- 2:24:20Speaker 2: from nineteen eighty six to nineteen ninety six. Holts also

- 2:24:32Speaker 2: He later went on to become a college football analyst
- 2:24:35Speaker 2: for ESPN.
- 2:24:36Speaker 1: Never heard a guy. Anybody say a bad word about
- 2:24:38Speaker 1: the guy. None of the golf clubs, nobody would say
- 2:24:41Speaker 1: bad word about it.
- 2:24:42Speaker 2: He seemed like a really sweet guy, very affable to
- 2:24:44Speaker 2: do what I'm met him, all right, if you have
- 2:24:45Speaker 2: a dog at home and you like to give them
- 2:24:48Speaker 2: Elite treats. Heads up because that again a popular dog
- 2:24:52Speaker 2: treats sold at feed stores and several stores in the
- 2:24:55Speaker 2: South is being recalled.
- 2:24:57Speaker 3: So Elite treat says it's Elite treats.
- 2:24:59Speaker 2: Chicken ch chips for dogs are being recalled for possible
- 2:25:03Speaker 2: salmonella contamination. The treats were sold in a six ounce bag.

- 2:25:42Speaker 2: first he was flown from Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach
- 2:25:47Speaker 2: to Dewey, Boster Park and Deltona in the sheriff's helicopter.
- 2:25:51Speaker 3: Nice, tell me this isn't like a little boy.
- 2:25:54Speaker 2: Sheriff Mike Chitwood says, riding in the chopper was actually
- 2:25:57Speaker 2: a dream of Rivera's, but unfortunately the only time he
- 2:26:01Speaker 2: got to do it was on his way to the
- 2:26:02Speaker 2: hospital when he was being life lighted after being shot twice.
- 2:26:06Speaker 3: So today the sheriff made sure he got to do
- 2:26:09Speaker 3: it again.
- 2:26:09Speaker 1: That's very cool.
- 2:26:10Speaker 3: Of it, isn't that cool?
- 2:26:11Speaker 1: That's very cool?
- 2:26:12Speaker 3: It was, and it was cool a sheriff.
- 2:26:14Speaker 2: Chip was saying that Deputy Rivera while recovering in the
- 2:26:17Speaker 2: hospital when he showed up the night he'd been shot,
- 2:26:19Speaker 2: he said he was sitting in bed, eating chicken and
- 2:26:21Speaker 2: watching SpongeBob SquarePants, which is exactly what you would expect
