- 1:16Speaker 2: But welcome, welcome, welcome. I want to welcome you guys
- 1:18Speaker 2: to another episode of the Free Texas Campaign as we
- 1:24Speaker 2: present voices from behind the walls of TDCJ. Thank you,
- 1:30Speaker 2: thank you, thank you. If you would please share this
- 1:33Speaker 2: out in your circle of influence, you never know what
- 1:37Speaker 2: the next person may need or what nugget they may
- 1:41Speaker 2: be able to receive. On today, we are attempting to
- 1:45Speaker 2: expose corruption that has been running rapid within the State
- 1:50Speaker 2: of Texas over the last three to four decades, within
- 1:55Speaker 2: the judicial system and within the TDCJ. So on today
- 2:00Speaker 2: we have Cody with us, gonna put up his picture
- 2:06Speaker 2: so you guys will get opportunity to put a face
- 2:12Speaker 2: with the person that you are here. So, Cody, if
- 2:15Speaker 2: you would please, if you would begin to induce douce
- 2:21Speaker 2: yourself as out.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Uh, I've been down here for about almost twelve years.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I gotta uhren change your murder as an adult of
- 2:35Speaker 3: an automobile action D I think I ran a red light,
- 2:45Speaker 3: I hit another car, and I ended up the girl
- 2:48Speaker 3: driving another car. But uh, they ended up already. They
- 2:55Speaker 3: gave me a dan handed you a murder charge, and
- 2:59Speaker 3: I and here I have.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Wow wow. So they gave you Okay, so you say
- 3:11Speaker 2: you had two but prior so they gave you an
- 3:15Speaker 2: in hand sentence.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Yes they did. They said I did this how they
- 3:23Speaker 3: charged me basically, and cord and all the papers and
- 3:27Speaker 3: all that that made it out like, uh like I
- 3:32Speaker 3: planned it out and do exactly what I was doing
- 3:35Speaker 3: and meant to do it. I mean, you know I
- 3:37Speaker 3: messed up.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I don't.
- 3:39Speaker 3: I don't say I wasn't a faultive of that, but
- 3:41Speaker 3: I didn't murder nobody Like I wasn't drunk. I wasn't
- 3:45Speaker 3: paying attention to what I was doing.
- 3:46Speaker 2: But okay, evidently if if you said you were drunk,
- 3:52Speaker 2: so apparently you had an issue with alcohol. So if okay,
- 4:01Speaker 2: So instead of them throwing the book at you and
- 4:03Speaker 2: taking your life away like that, did they offer any
- 4:06Speaker 2: type of program, any type of of something that you
- 4:11Speaker 2: could have went to to work on your issue, because
- 4:15Speaker 2: that is his sickness. That is an issue.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Absolutely gone. They see, I caught this cage like the Nimber.
- 4:23Speaker 3: The twenty nine eleven twelve was the election tackle for
- 4:28Speaker 3: the journey. So she straight upset in the paper that
- 4:34Speaker 3: I was her pact case. She was gonna make an
- 4:36Speaker 3: example out of me, and she did that, so it
- 4:40Speaker 3: got blow. I guess you know what I said. I mean,
- 4:46Speaker 3: I caused the dudger with another person that I can't
- 4:48Speaker 3: I can't argue that, but it got made it so
- 4:52Speaker 3: much more than what it should have been as far
- 4:56Speaker 3: as I at the murder charge and all that for
- 4:59Speaker 3: a night. But and it wasn't nothing but politics. It's all.
- 5:02Speaker 3: It was about that part of me. They didn't offer
- 5:07Speaker 3: me nothing. It was they didn't offer me or peep
- 5:08Speaker 3: bargain nothing. It was the first time that when the
- 5:11Speaker 3: corps we're going to dry on period.
- 5:13Speaker 2: So wow, So what has this journey been within TDCJ.
- 5:23Speaker 2: So how old were you again when you when you
- 5:27Speaker 2: were incarcerated within TDCJ.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I when I came to TDC I just turned twenty two.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I caught this case like right before I turned twenty one.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Wow, yet still a baby.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It ain't uh uh, it ain't been fun. I mean,
- 5:47Speaker 3: like I said, well, I I wasn't y. I grew
- 5:50Speaker 3: up in here, but I just spend you know mind
- 5:52Speaker 3: I guess formative years and here dealing with you know,
- 5:56Speaker 3: people that I wouldn't uh, you know, I don't think
- 6:02Speaker 3: you could ever be in charge of another human being,
- 6:05Speaker 3: you know, after the some of the folks work here.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I mean they ain't all like definitely, they don't treat
- 6:17Speaker 3: you like the person in I mean I'm a date,
- 6:20Speaker 3: but uh that a lot of them did. Is their
- 6:23Speaker 3: jobs are punish you, know you grade you need you,
- 6:26Speaker 3: not you. I mean gets ridiculous at times.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Well it's not their job to punish you, because the
- 6:35Speaker 2: only the only person that really can punish you is
- 6:38Speaker 2: the one that created true these judges can give you
- 6:44Speaker 2: sentences to try to try to put limitations on you,
- 6:49Speaker 2: but they can't truly punish you. And for someone to
- 6:53Speaker 2: think that that authority. Their job is to make sure
- 6:56Speaker 2: that you are kept safe and that they're safe. That
- 7:00Speaker 2: that's their job, and that's their only job. And they're
- 7:03Speaker 2: supposed to make sure that your human rights are protected.
- 7:07Speaker 2: They're not there to dehumanize you. And that's what I'm
- 7:12Speaker 2: hearing that that is a pattern that I'm here within TDCJ,
- 7:16Speaker 2: not just in the male unit, but also in the
- 7:18Speaker 2: women's unit. The women's unit is worse than the male's unit.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I'm hearing how the guards are just abusing the women,
- 7:29Speaker 2: like with fists, fighting them and all kind of stuff,
- 7:34Speaker 2: mason them and in various things, and they think that
- 7:37Speaker 2: this is okay. Like I've had individuals reach out to
- 7:40Speaker 2: me and ask if we could just pop up and
- 7:44Speaker 2: record what's going on within the facilities. I wish I could,
- 7:49Speaker 2: because a lot of them would probably be closed. A
- 7:55Speaker 2: lot of them would probably be closed.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Going and looking like the living area, the kitchen, a
- 8:05Speaker 3: cook and in their ventilation works, the heater it don't
- 8:10Speaker 3: work every even when they clean it. When there's the builders,
- 8:19Speaker 3: they don't clean it. It really is And if any
- 8:24Speaker 3: kind of UH Health inspector actually went in there, they
- 8:28Speaker 3: wasn't already paid by the day they closed this place
- 8:31Speaker 3: down down heart.
- 8:34Speaker 2: And that's what needs to happens. Like it's too many
- 8:37Speaker 2: times like people are talking about one of the units,
- 8:41Speaker 2: talk about mold, the sewage, when its smell, and you know,
- 8:44Speaker 2: just all kinds of stuff like it's she it's not habitable.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It should be closed and nobody should be living like
- 8:52Speaker 2: that when you can spend eleven million dollars on another state,
- 8:56Speaker 2: you can send eleven million dollars of Texas money to
- 9:00Speaker 2: another state to house inmates, when you should be letting
- 9:03Speaker 2: these inmates. Go like, I don't get it. You You
- 9:06Speaker 2: got inmates that's been locked up for twenty thirty forty
- 9:09Speaker 2: years that need to be going home, and you are
- 9:12Speaker 2: ruining people lives like these people sitting at home making memories,
- 9:17Speaker 2: creating memories, creating legacy, creating these things, and they're ruining
- 9:22Speaker 2: your lives. And it's not just a handful of y'all.
- 9:26Speaker 2: We're talking about thousands of y'all that they are overly
- 9:32Speaker 2: and wrongfully incarcerating. And then we got got these elected
- 9:38Speaker 2: officials that sit around and do absolutely nothing. They do
- 9:44Speaker 2: absolute nothing.
- 9:47Speaker 3: As question, talk to anybody that can help it all, man,
- 9:53Speaker 3: you can't get time anybody.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Like I know, they may not have classified you as
- 10:03Speaker 2: a juvenal. But even with the law that's being passed
- 10:10Speaker 2: in different states about the frontal load, with them understanding
- 10:15Speaker 2: that until you reach twenty five that you're still growing mentally,
- 10:20Speaker 2: that your brain is still developing. It's been proven in
- 10:25Speaker 2: different states and they've passed these laws. But Texas just
- 10:28Speaker 2: stuck on money. It's a money thing with them. And
- 10:31Speaker 2: I keep telling people, if they trace the money, they
- 10:35Speaker 2: will figure out why a lot of this stuff is happening.
- 10:40Speaker 2: They need to get that governor up out of office.
- 10:43Speaker 2: He been in office too long. He been in office
- 10:46Speaker 2: too long. You talk about three to four decades, that's
- 10:49Speaker 2: thirty forty years. And then you got people that have
- 10:52Speaker 2: been locked up thirty and forty years. And these people
- 10:56Speaker 2: literally want these people to die, and they took attempts
- 11:00Speaker 2: on these people lives. And the judges. Now the judges
- 11:03Speaker 2: are getting involved. The judges are going as far as
- 11:07Speaker 2: holding documents. They date. Man, everybody keep doing these eleven
- 11:13Speaker 2: O sevens. I don't know why they're wasting their time
- 11:15Speaker 2: doing eleven no sevens because they even these people ain't
- 11:18Speaker 2: even looking at them. They're not even reading them. They
- 11:20Speaker 2: just denying them and just sending them back and it's okay,
- 11:24Speaker 2: And ain't nobody doing nothing about it. Ain't nobody doing
- 11:27Speaker 2: nothing about it. That's why these selected officials and all
- 11:32Speaker 2: these people that's in charge, they need to get these
- 11:34Speaker 2: people up out of there and these people that's fighting
- 11:37Speaker 2: for change. These are the people that need to be
- 11:40Speaker 2: getting in office. These are the people that need to
- 11:42Speaker 2: be really running for office by all these people that
- 11:45Speaker 2: say that they've been being on the ground for the
- 11:49Speaker 2: last ten, fifteen, twenty years, trying to fight for these
- 11:52Speaker 2: juvenile bills, trying to fight for the second look, trying
- 11:54Speaker 2: to fight for the law party, trying to fight for
- 11:57Speaker 2: these different bills to be passed. That the that the
- 12:02Speaker 2: governor keep vetoing, that that they keep talking about, the
- 12:05Speaker 2: word that ain't right, crazy stuff. Man, Well, they definitely
- 12:18Speaker 2: need to do something about it. And I think the
- 12:22Speaker 2: more of y'all that come on here, share y'all story,
- 12:25Speaker 2: get the families involved. If it just takes one family
- 12:29Speaker 2: member from everybody that's that's been on this show, if
- 12:33Speaker 2: just one family member would get involved, if we would
- 12:35Speaker 2: just go to these different city halls, to the state Capitol, like,
- 12:40Speaker 2: we got to get out here and we got to
- 12:42Speaker 2: be of course, we got to do like they did
- 12:44Speaker 2: back in the day. We got to get back on
- 12:46Speaker 2: these steps. We got to get back in front of
- 12:48Speaker 2: these people. And it's got to take the families with
- 12:51Speaker 2: these signs, what they loved, ones picture on it, standing
- 12:55Speaker 2: in front of these people, letting these people see who
- 12:57Speaker 2: these people are. So these people can't sleep at night
- 13:00Speaker 2: when they start seeing y'all faces at night and they dreams,
- 13:04Speaker 2: then they'll start doing something about it. They'll start doing
- 13:07Speaker 2: something about it. And if they don't want to do
- 13:08Speaker 2: nothing about it, then they need to get out of
- 13:10Speaker 2: office and put and a lot of people that's gonna
- 13:12Speaker 2: do something about it. Take the rein because that's what
- 13:14Speaker 2: it's gonna take. That's what it's gonna take. But it's
- 13:17Speaker 2: been dropped in my lap, and I tell you I'm
- 13:20Speaker 2: own it. I just can't back down like they whoever
- 13:25Speaker 2: dropped it in my lap. I thank God for the
- 13:28Speaker 2: chance and to be able to be a difference, because
- 13:32Speaker 2: it's sad. It hurt my heart to see all these
- 13:36Speaker 2: people go through this and then to hear these stories
- 13:39Speaker 2: of people that you know, doing four years and end
- 13:43Speaker 2: up with fifty years. Like I don't get that. Like
- 13:48Speaker 2: how you go to serve four years and end up
- 13:52Speaker 2: with a fifty year sentence? Like I don't get that.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I just don't get that. And how can you be
- 14:00Speaker 2: sitting in a car. You don't know what these people
- 14:03Speaker 2: going to do? You don't know what you just sitting
- 14:05Speaker 2: in the car, You're thinking, you waiting on somebody to
- 14:07Speaker 2: come out the store. You don't know what's going on.
- 14:10Speaker 2: But you get more time than the person that commit
- 14:12Speaker 2: the crime. How's that?
- 14:14Speaker 3: Like?
- 14:14Speaker 2: I don't get it. And then you younger than the
- 14:16Speaker 2: person that commit the crime. How can you think the
- 14:19Speaker 2: child have more more mental sense than the grown up?
- 14:25Speaker 2: I don't get it. And you get a child more
- 14:27Speaker 2: time than you get a grown up and the grown
- 14:29Speaker 2: up back out here living their life and need the
- 14:32Speaker 2: child still in prison. I don't get it. I don't
- 14:36Speaker 2: get it. I don't get it. But I'm looking at
- 14:41Speaker 2: I'm just looking at the loss in Texas and they
- 14:43Speaker 2: need to be changed, and these families need to speak
- 14:47Speaker 2: up and speak out. So, like I said, I have
- 14:51Speaker 2: a platform. This is a platform that I use. I
- 14:54Speaker 2: use my magazine, I use these podcasts, I use every
- 14:58Speaker 2: opportunity that I can and to utilize my voice to
- 15:02Speaker 2: speak out against injustice, not just in the state of Texas,
- 15:05Speaker 2: but around the US, because it's not just happened in Texas,
- 15:09Speaker 2: It's happening everywhere. It's happening everywhere. But I want you
- 15:17Speaker 2: if somebody is listening and there's somebody out there today
- 15:22Speaker 2: that can assist you, how can they assist you on
- 15:27Speaker 2: your case?
- 15:31Speaker 3: Woll I mean I've already done about the hills it
- 15:43Speaker 3: h m hm m h h already trying to find
- 15:51Speaker 3: a way you get back getting that. I know they're
- 15:56Speaker 3: that getting there, but you know all that I don't know.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Well, I'll say, we're gonna keep sharing it. We're gonna
- 16:13Speaker 2: keep putting it out there. We're gonna keep talking about it.
- 16:15Speaker 2: We're gonna keep, you know, putting it in front of people,
- 16:18Speaker 2: putting it in front of the legislation, putting it in
- 16:20Speaker 2: front of folks, keep letting people hear about it. This
- 16:25Speaker 2: recording here will be shared across different platforms like i heeart, Google,
- 16:31Speaker 2: okayst Spotify, YouTube, U forty two, linked Tree, various places,
- 16:41Speaker 2: so people will be able to hear about it. They'll
- 16:43Speaker 2: be able to, you know, share it out and bring
- 16:47Speaker 2: some awareness of the things that's happening within t d
- 16:49Speaker 2: c J and hopefully how we can address some of
- 16:53Speaker 2: those things. But I really think re looking at the
- 16:57Speaker 2: parole process and the parole board because I don't think that,
- 17:01Speaker 2: you know, if they're giving people these life senses that
- 17:04Speaker 2: people need to do thirty forty years, they they should
- 17:09Speaker 2: be able to give be given prole and then if
- 17:12Speaker 2: they violate their parole, then let them go back and
- 17:14Speaker 2: do their time, but at least give them a chance
- 17:17Speaker 2: or give them a chance.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I agree with what you said about the judge. It's like,
- 17:22Speaker 3: you know, why, why why do you give the power
- 17:26Speaker 3: where they give out so much time on a wheel.
- 17:30Speaker 3: You know, it's ridiculous.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Like they really need to look at the crime and
- 17:35Speaker 2: look at the people. They have to really do look
- 17:37Speaker 2: at the situation and and and look at people's background
- 17:42Speaker 2: and and and and try. Like I said, they have
- 17:47Speaker 2: to understand that there's rehabilitation, regardless of how they personally feel,
- 17:52Speaker 2: that people can be rehabilitated. Because let me tell you something,
- 17:55Speaker 2: you're talking to someone that have been through rehability. I'm
- 18:01Speaker 2: on both ends of it. I'm a victim of domestic violence.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I was shot point blank range with a solid our shotgun.
- 18:09Speaker 2: People asked me, how do I do the work that
- 18:11Speaker 2: I do if I've been a victim? But I learned
- 18:14Speaker 2: that I'm not a victim. You know, something happened, something
- 18:17Speaker 2: was wrong with my husband, the reason why he did
- 18:20Speaker 2: what he did. I could have been mad at him.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I could have carried around a grudge. I couldn't did
- 18:25Speaker 2: a lie, but I realized that he needed help. He
- 18:28Speaker 2: had issues, he had problems, and if I had helped
- 18:32Speaker 2: him deal with those problems, he may not have did
- 18:36Speaker 2: with what he did. But again, he was using drugs,
- 18:42Speaker 2: he was under the influence. He did not know what
- 18:44Speaker 2: he was doing. So I could not hold that against him.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I had to forgive him and myself, and then I
- 18:51Speaker 2: was able to move on. I was able to be
- 18:53Speaker 2: able to do the things that I do. I was
- 18:55Speaker 2: able to look past what I've been through and look
- 18:58Speaker 2: at what other people are going through and be able
- 19:01Speaker 2: to be a voice for them, because guess what, I
- 19:04Speaker 2: could end up just where you are. Anybody could end
- 19:10Speaker 2: up just where you are, because God, there's no respect
- 19:13Speaker 2: to a person. These people don't care about nobody I'm
- 19:16Speaker 2: just sitting here just looking at you know, something that
- 19:19Speaker 2: happened to somebody last month that could have ended up
- 19:23Speaker 2: they could have been in jail for fifty years. They
- 19:26Speaker 2: was trying to get that man twenty five I think
- 19:28Speaker 2: they said, twenty five of life in a third thirteen
- 19:34Speaker 2: second video clips save that man's life. A thirteen second
- 19:43Speaker 2: police cam saved his life. The police forgot to turn
- 19:47Speaker 2: the camera off. He he he turned it off too
- 19:52Speaker 2: too late. And thirteen ten seconds of what this man
- 19:58Speaker 2: was telling the truth. And they was trying to get
- 19:59Speaker 2: this man the Pola bargain, and they kept telling him
- 20:01Speaker 2: he was telling a lie. This is what happened, and
- 20:06Speaker 2: this is what been happening for decades. And they sit
- 20:11Speaker 2: in these these these chambers and they look at these
- 20:15Speaker 2: these documents and they just throw them around them. They
- 20:17Speaker 2: dance and they say, oh, I'm not gonna do this.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I'm not gonna do this for so and so. And
- 20:20Speaker 2: they look at the records and they say, oh, well
- 20:22Speaker 2: let me see if this person. Now. I've had even
- 20:26Speaker 2: had people come on here and say so and so
- 20:28Speaker 2: saying they give me this amount of money and this
- 20:30Speaker 2: amount of money, they'll do this for me, and then
- 20:34Speaker 2: I could just go back to where they I could
- 20:36Speaker 2: just go to Mexico and hide out. These are these
- 20:40Speaker 2: are these are these are elected officials. These are people
- 20:46Speaker 2: that have taken sworn oaths, that are doing crazy stuff
- 20:50Speaker 2: like that, and they're doing it all for for for
- 20:54Speaker 2: money and greed and power.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Judge, my granddaddy down here at gave my uncle a
- 21:08Speaker 3: life in it. Tonight it retires.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah, see, that's crazy, that's crazy. When you got mister Jack,
- 21:24Speaker 2: Charles said, you have a lot of people in your corner. Cody. Yeah, me,
- 21:29Speaker 2: it's Becky Lorenz. Thank you for what you're doing. Well.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I just want you to know that no matter what
- 21:39Speaker 2: it looked like, you stay strong and you just keep
- 21:41Speaker 2: your head up and you keep being positive. You keep
- 21:43Speaker 2: being a role model, You keep uplifting those and keep
- 21:47Speaker 2: helping those that are lost. You keep helping them find
- 21:50Speaker 2: a way because trust and believe it ain't gonna always
- 21:54Speaker 2: be like this. And trust and believe everything that's been
- 21:57Speaker 2: done in the dark is gonna soon won't come to
- 22:01Speaker 2: the light. That That is my prayer. That is that
- 22:05Speaker 2: is my prayer. That is my prayer. Mister Jack said
- 22:10Speaker 2: he's a friend of your mom and dads. But you
- 22:16Speaker 2: got a lot of people pulling for you, you got
- 22:18Speaker 2: a lot of people praying for you. And I'm gonna
- 22:22Speaker 2: keep sharing. I'm gonna keep sharing this and I'm gonna
- 22:25Speaker 2: keep talking about it and and and and keep bringing
- 22:28Speaker 2: awareness to what's going on because there's a lot of
- 22:30Speaker 2: people in the same position you in. But I wanna
- 22:33Speaker 2: thank you for for being strong enough to come on
- 22:39Speaker 2: and to share and to be transparent because a lot
- 22:41Speaker 2: of people, you know, a lot of people are in
- 22:43Speaker 2: your same situation, but they're being quiet. They're they're they
- 22:48Speaker 2: they don't want to share because they's they're afraid what
- 22:52Speaker 2: may happen. But I thank you for sharing. I thank
- 22:55Speaker 2: you for being that voice for that person that think
- 22:58Speaker 2: that they don't have a voice. You just keep doing
- 23:01Speaker 2: what you're doing, and know that any time you want
- 23:04Speaker 2: to come back, if you have any updates that you
- 23:08Speaker 2: want to share, if you just want to come on
- 23:10Speaker 2: and share, you just want to come on and just
- 23:13Speaker 2: share something out to something encouraging to the people, just
- 23:16Speaker 2: to just to be in the courage man, however you
- 23:19Speaker 2: want to do it, if you want to come on,
- 23:21Speaker 2: just just let me know. And you're more than welcome
- 23:23Speaker 2: to come back and and and be a part.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Okay, I thank you very much to share my story
- 23:33Speaker 3: and getting out there. Like you said, the more like
- 23:38Speaker 3: they were talking about a couple of months brought up
- 23:43Speaker 3: the dope and all that that that was for them
- 23:47Speaker 3: to ut down. But the way my mama put it
- 23:52Speaker 3: is like they can't all this, all this stuff that's
- 23:54Speaker 3: going on down here getting so much attention, so much
- 23:57Speaker 3: attention that they can't keep another rug.
- 23:59Speaker 2: No more so that to try and make it look like, no,
- 24:06Speaker 2: they can't fix that problem because they are the problems problem.
- 24:11Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying. They can't the problem because
- 24:13Speaker 2: they are the problem. They they try to act like
- 24:16Speaker 2: how the inmates bringing drugs and if there's a drug problem,
- 24:19Speaker 2: how the drugs getting there because the inmates are not
- 24:21Speaker 2: going nowhere, It makes are not leading people are bringing
- 24:27Speaker 2: those drugs in there, and it's not it's not visitors
- 24:30Speaker 2: because at that time y'all was not even having visits y'all.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Y'all was still on real really still on that COVID stuff,
- 24:37Speaker 2: So y'all not getting visits like that. So no, ain't
- 24:40Speaker 2: nobody bringing nothing in there. It's the people that work there.
- 24:43Speaker 2: It's the people that work there. It's the people that
- 24:46Speaker 2: work there, and until they look look at that, Like
- 24:50Speaker 2: I keep telling people, it's gonna take outside. It's gonna
- 24:54Speaker 2: take the FBI or the department. Literally get that place
- 25:00Speaker 2: cleaned up. Like literally, some of those places gonna have
- 25:03Speaker 2: to be shut down, like some of them need to
- 25:05Speaker 2: be tore down. Hey, and some these people need to
- 25:08Speaker 2: come home. Like literally, I've been on I've been.
- 25:12Speaker 3: On the unit for eleven years and I've been a
- 25:14Speaker 3: doing now, but on the buildings, and in ten years
- 25:17Speaker 3: on the building, and I lived in probably pre sales
- 25:20Speaker 3: that didn't leave when it rained. And I'm talking like
- 25:23Speaker 3: full water running down the wall on the inside, buzz
- 25:26Speaker 3: and jail every time you range, and they're like that
- 25:30Speaker 3: all over all over the unit because it's all prefabbed
- 25:34Speaker 3: and it's built with such poor quality, you know, thirty
- 25:37Speaker 3: years ago, and they don't And now I know the
- 25:40Speaker 3: other side. You know, used to we would say, man, maintenance,
- 25:44Speaker 3: don't fixed up. And now I work in maintenance. I
- 25:46Speaker 3: got an opportunity to get a job in the boiler
- 25:48Speaker 3: room learning how to work on all that stuff. And
- 25:51Speaker 3: the way their system is so so sorry with having
- 25:57Speaker 3: a good approve and all that. Like they they have
- 26:00Speaker 3: so much money and then it's gone and they spend
- 26:03Speaker 3: it on thes or that, and they don't have parts
- 26:05Speaker 3: like uh, somebody toilet might be brought. They're broke all
- 26:10Speaker 3: over the place, a lot of them. I'll give you
- 26:11Speaker 3: a great example. A lot of the dayroom toilets. When
- 26:14Speaker 3: you toush them, they leak all over the floor because
- 26:17Speaker 3: the wax swing at the bottoment is both and they
- 26:19Speaker 3: don't have the parks. They can't get up for they
- 26:22Speaker 3: order them and they don't get up send. So you
- 26:25Speaker 3: have all these shoes and all that all over the place.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I have all run as bills all that, and Hunchville
- 26:34Speaker 3: won't allow the maintenance department to give the correct parts
- 26:37Speaker 3: and proficient they show it be conficient.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Wow, that's crazy, they they it's crazy. It makes no sense, right.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I got a call from the unbusman the other y'all
- 26:51Speaker 2: probably had some visitors the other day to look at
- 26:55Speaker 2: your food, because I got a report that they was
- 27:00Speaker 2: feeding y'all maggots or something. I don't care what it was.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Somebody said it wasn't maggots, it was worms. It was
- 27:08Speaker 2: some kind of worms. I don't care what it was,
- 27:10Speaker 2: and the fact that they were serving it to y'all
- 27:12Speaker 2: in your food. They already feed y'all substandard food, and
- 27:16Speaker 2: I'm not standing for them serving y'alls other than food.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Now they're not from the serve No worms, no maggots,
- 27:23Speaker 2: no none of that. So I called. I sent a
- 27:27Speaker 2: letter to them letting them know that they needed to
- 27:30Speaker 2: do something, and that I was gonna let everybody know
- 27:33Speaker 2: that I could let know that this, this is what
- 27:36Speaker 2: y'all are serving these inmates. These are humans they had,
- 27:40Speaker 2: and y'all are violating them by serving them maggoted food.
- 27:44Speaker 2: They weren't just doing it at y'all unit. They was
- 27:46Speaker 2: doing it at Conley unit. So they sent someone over
- 27:49Speaker 2: to Connley to come to find out they did have
- 27:51Speaker 2: stuff in y'all food, and they had to throw out
- 27:54Speaker 2: a whole bunch of food. But he hadn't got back
- 27:57Speaker 2: to me. Yeah, because they're not going to serve that.
- 28:06Speaker 2: And then in time somebody tell me that they serving
- 28:09Speaker 2: stuff like that, and they serving yeah, And now I
- 28:13Speaker 2: want the food that they're supposed to be serving y'all
- 28:16Speaker 2: that they showing on these websites that the fresh vegetables,
- 28:20Speaker 2: the fresh fruit. Then that's what I need them to
- 28:23Speaker 2: be serving y'all. I don't need them to be serving
- 28:24Speaker 2: y'all the crap that they serving y'all. I need them
- 28:27Speaker 2: to serve y'all what they say they serving y'all. And
- 28:29Speaker 2: until they do that, I'm gonna keep complaining. I'm gonna
- 28:34Speaker 2: keep righting them posing on the blog, and I want
- 28:36Speaker 2: the family members to share it out and to keep
- 28:40Speaker 2: sharing it out. And not only that, if they are
- 28:44Speaker 2: in these areas where they are holding these different events,
- 28:47Speaker 2: because they're in February, they're gonna be having a the
- 28:50Speaker 2: campus culture over at Connolly, They're gonna be having an
- 28:53Speaker 2: event and it's open to the public. They just gotta register.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I've been sending the Evening Hell around, but Securist or
- 29:02Speaker 2: either TDTJ, they've been blocking the email. I think I
- 29:06Speaker 2: sent it to you and a couple of other people
- 29:08Speaker 2: and they blocked it. They will let y'all get it.
- 29:13Speaker 2: But it has the information about it has the information
- 29:19Speaker 2: about the I posted it on the blog so they
- 29:24Speaker 2: can go over to Free Texas campaign blog, which is posted.
- 29:28Speaker 2: It's posted inside of this link. So everybody that's on
- 29:32Speaker 2: here is already inside the description so you can look
- 29:36Speaker 2: at it. All those links have different things that y'all
- 29:38Speaker 2: can follow and get information because I post information about
- 29:42Speaker 2: different things that they're doing when we have different rallies,
- 29:45Speaker 2: different things. Again, Cody, thank you for stopping by, and
- 29:48Speaker 2: you're welcome back at any time. Okay, I want to
- 29:55Speaker 2: thank y'all for tuning in and if y'all would please
- 29:58Speaker 2: share this out, share this out. My desire is just
- 30:04Speaker 2: to be a blend and to just be a voice
- 30:06Speaker 2: and allow these individuals to come on and to share
- 30:09Speaker 2: their story so that we can bring awareness to what
- 30:12Speaker 2: has been going on within TDCJ, the textas judicial system,
- 30:16Speaker 2: and just various different types of things that's taking place
- 30:19Speaker 2: that should not be taking place. These are humans. I
- 30:22Speaker 2: don't care what they have done. No matter what they
- 30:25Speaker 2: have done, they are still humans and they all deserve
- 30:28Speaker 2: another chance. People don't understand that we all make mistakes
- 30:33Speaker 2: and we're all human and we all could be right there.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Some of us are lucky, by grace and mercy that
- 30:40Speaker 2: we are not behind prison wall, because some of us
- 30:42Speaker 2: have done some stuff that should have lit us in prison,
- 30:45Speaker 2: but we didn't end up in prison. So we should
- 30:48Speaker 2: be grateful, and then not only that, we shouldn't sit
- 30:50Speaker 2: by and watch our love ones go through what they're
- 30:56Speaker 2: going through and not say that, y'all, it's too many
- 30:59Speaker 2: of us on the outside. They can band together and
- 31:01Speaker 2: can stand together and make a difference. I want to
- 31:04Speaker 2: thank you guys for tuning in today and listening to
- 31:10Speaker 2: Mster Cody. He at his time was up. Y'all know
- 31:14Speaker 2: they only get documnutes. But I'll be back next Monday.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I do this every Monday, so every Monday we have
- 31:22Speaker 2: an opportunity to hear from four individuals. They come on,
- 31:27Speaker 2: they share their stories, they share what's going on inside
- 31:30Speaker 2: t DCJ. Some of them share different things that happened
- 31:35Speaker 2: that landed them in t DCJ. You you got to
- 31:39Speaker 2: look at how some of these corrupt lawyers did not
- 31:42Speaker 2: represent them well, there were holes in their representation. And
- 31:48Speaker 2: then you look at how some of these lawyers became
- 31:51Speaker 2: assistant district attorneys, then they became district attorneys and then
- 31:54Speaker 2: got on the Court of Appeal and lock these babies
- 31:57Speaker 2: out up of the judicial system. They go up for
- 32:01Speaker 2: parole and get denied. They get a one year set out,
- 32:03Speaker 2: they get a year set out after year after year
- 32:06Speaker 2: after year, and they get blocked out of the parole board. God,
- 32:09Speaker 2: this is nothing more than political them being a political prisoner.
- 32:13Speaker 2: This is more than political power. This is no more
- 32:17Speaker 2: than political greed. It's all about money. It's all about
- 32:20Speaker 2: keeping these beds in these facility house because these people
- 32:25Speaker 2: are making trillions of dollars off of these inmates a year.
- 32:31Speaker 2: That's how they're able to spend in eleven million dollars
- 32:36Speaker 2: to go house inmates in another state. How can you
- 32:40Speaker 2: send eleven and that it's just one county senate eleven
- 32:45Speaker 2: million dollars to house inmates in another state, in the
- 32:47Speaker 2: state of Mississippi, when we can be using that eleven
- 32:52Speaker 2: million dollars right here in the state of Texas to
- 32:56Speaker 2: let some of these inmates go to get transition programs together,
- 33:00Speaker 2: to to to put that money back into the prison,
- 33:03Speaker 2: to get the food that they deserve, to get the
- 33:05Speaker 2: proper housing, to get the proper It's so much that
- 33:07Speaker 2: could be gone with that eleven million dollars. Y'all writing
- 33:15Speaker 2: all things and what things?
- 33:20Speaker 3: Where has it all.
- 33:21Speaker 2: The blue from.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Skys but boys.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Blow from the north from the south.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Things?
- 33:30Speaker 2: Well, person, all things ain't what they used to be.
- 33:47Speaker 2: But hey, hey, y'all, Hey y'all, Hey, y'all. I hope
- 33:50Speaker 2: y'all enjoyed that replay. That was a replay from one
- 33:54Speaker 2: of the individuals inside TDCJ that I had the opportunity
- 33:58Speaker 2: to sit down and chat with them about their story.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I want to thank you guys for tuning in tonight.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Like always, I want you guys to take this opportunity
- 34:07Speaker 2: to share about those that are wrongfully, overly and unfairly incarcerated.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Definitely take this opportunity to share. Channette would be back
- 34:18Speaker 2: on Monday. I think she has a show on Monday,
- 34:21Speaker 2: not sure, but she would be back with her regular show. Y'all.
- 34:26Speaker 2: We traveled on today, so we were a little tired,
- 34:29Speaker 2: so that's why I decided to do the replay on tonight.
- 34:32Speaker 2: But I knew it would be something that you guys
- 34:34Speaker 2: could definitely take something away from this guy. He had
- 34:41Speaker 2: an issue. He used alcohol. He abused alcohol and was
- 34:47Speaker 2: in a bad accident. Unfortunately, he did also once death.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Should he be in prison for the rest of his life, No,
- 35:00Speaker 2: it is evident that he had a problem that they
- 35:02Speaker 2: provide him any type of rehabilitative services. Or anything that
- 35:07Speaker 2: could help him deal with his problem. Put him away
- 35:10Speaker 2: in prison does not deal with his problem because if
- 35:14Speaker 2: he has an alcoholic problem, that problem still is going
- 35:17Speaker 2: to exist. So if you did this to one person,
- 35:19Speaker 2: what are you doing for the next person that's gonna come.
- 35:23Speaker 2: We have to learn how to put put programs in
- 35:29Speaker 2: place that can help individuals that have a problem. We
- 35:32Speaker 2: can't just allow individuals to make a mistake, because we
- 35:36Speaker 2: all make mistakes. Some of us just been lucky and
- 35:39Speaker 2: had the grace to not get caught. But if the
- 35:43Speaker 2: truth be told, a lot of us we should be
- 35:46Speaker 2: behind those prison walls because we don't got away with
- 35:48Speaker 2: some stuff. But you have individuals that did not do
- 35:52Speaker 2: the crimes that they have been charged with. And it
- 35:57Speaker 2: is sad that a lot of the states, and we're
- 36:01Speaker 2: just gonna talk about United States as a whole, there's
- 36:04Speaker 2: a lot of corruption going throughout these states that need
- 36:08Speaker 2: to be addressed, and we as people have to stand
- 36:11Speaker 2: up and speak out and share. We can't continue to
- 36:15Speaker 2: be quiet and allow these things to continue to happen
- 36:20Speaker 2: because our race, are our generation, those that are coming
- 36:25Speaker 2: behind us are gonna be affected by this. So I'm
- 36:29Speaker 2: challenging you guys. If you have never voted before, please
- 36:35Speaker 2: go out and vote. If you're in high school and
- 36:39Speaker 2: you're gonna be eighteen before the election, go registered to vote.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Allow your voice to count. Elect this election be your
- 36:50Speaker 2: first stand as an adult. But if you continue to
- 36:55Speaker 2: sit by and do nothing, we'll continue to see the
- 36:59Speaker 2: same cycle, continue to see the same things happen again.
- 37:02Speaker 2: So if you won't change, you have to be that change.
- 37:05Speaker 2: So be a voice again. I want to thank you
- 37:08Speaker 2: guys for tuning in like always, if anything that we've
- 37:12Speaker 2: shared on this broadcast tonight have touched you or you
- 37:15Speaker 2: think could be beneficial to someone, please invite them to
- 37:19Speaker 2: come to strive, like and share. Are you now twitch
- 37:25Speaker 2: channel on LinkedIn wherever we go live and stream from,
- 37:29Speaker 2: you can go and follow us on our heart, Spotify.
- 37:32Speaker 2: We're even on Amazon Music, so y'all, there's no excuse
- 37:36Speaker 2: while you cannot follow and support the Crew podcast and
- 37:39Speaker 2: help get this content out here, because y'all, we are
- 37:42Speaker 2: the voice for those that feel like they don't have
- 37:45Speaker 2: a voice, So y'all, I thank you guys. Y'all have
- 37:49Speaker 2: a one for night, and like always, know that the
- 37:52Speaker 2: Queen loves you, and there's absolutely nothing you can do
- 37:55Speaker 2: about it. Y'all be blessed,
