Former Athlete Fights Back in Virginia Abduction | Providence News
A woman was attacked on a Sterling, Virginia trail when a man suddenly grabbed her from behind, trying to pull her away by her hair. A former college athlete, she fought back fiercely, escaped, and sought help at a nearby store. Authorities identified and arrested 34-year-old Rolando Sanchez Velasquez, who faces abduction and assault charges and is being held without bond. He’s also an undocumented noncitizen with an immigration detainer and outstanding warrants for child neglect.
