- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the best of Stugatz and Company live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Israel Gutierrez in studio with us today. He's working more.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Work one day, take three days off. Work one day,
- 0:31Speaker 3: take three days off. It's a pattern I think.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Everybody should use.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Soak in the applause, man. Everyone's happy you're here. Thank you.
- 0:40Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. Matt Leiner could have joined us in
- 0:42Speaker 1: hour number two of the show. Looking forward to that. Izzy,
- 0:45Speaker 1: I have to be honest with you. In your absence, Taylor,
- 0:48Speaker 1: for some reason— And perhaps he's, you know, deflecting because
- 0:52Speaker 1: the Knicks are 0-3. They lost to the Magic at home.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Taylor really wants to unleash on Mike Brown and Jalen Brunton,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I feel like. But he hasn't done that yet because
- 1:00Speaker 1: they won a title last year. In your absence, he
- 1:03Speaker 1: is delighted in the Miami Heat getting off to a
- 1:06Speaker 1: bad start.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Just a couple of winless teams cutting it up over here. Taylor, wait,
- 1:12Speaker 3: before we get into the Miami Heat issues, I'm wondering,
- 1:14Speaker 3: Has your championship sort of glow, has it dissolved already?
- 1:18Speaker 3: Is it three games in, you're just like, man, I'm
- 1:21Speaker 3: worried about this? Or are you still sort of staying strong?
- 1:24Speaker 5: No, I want this Knicks team to be a potential dynasty.
- 1:26Speaker 5: And we have to turn this season around if we're
- 1:28Speaker 5: going to make the playoffs and get a good seat
- 1:30Speaker 5: in the playoffs. So that's why I am worried about
- 1:33Speaker 5: starting 0-3 tonight against the Pistons. At Madison Square Garden,
- 1:37Speaker 5: the world's most famous arena, Stu, I'm declaring it a
- 1:40Speaker 5: must win for this team.
- 1:41Speaker 4: A must win.
- 1:43Speaker 5: A must win.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Well, you get the Pistons with no Jalen Duren, so
- 1:46Speaker 3: that's a good thing.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Who are you blaming?
- 1:49Speaker 3: Because I'm looking directly at Jalen Brunson and saying, hey,
- 1:53Speaker 3: I know you have a heavy load to carry and
- 1:56Speaker 3: you have for a long time now, but it's got
- 1:58Speaker 3: to continue. Like even at the beginning of this season,
- 2:00Speaker 3: it's got to continue. And him shooting sub 40% for
- 2:03Speaker 3: the first three games, not the best.
- 2:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not ideal, Brunson's shooting percentages, where he's shooting 26.7%.
- 2:08Speaker 5: So I think it's fair to put a lot of
- 2:11Speaker 5: the blame on the Knicks' slow start on Jalen Brunson,
- 2:14Speaker 5: but I don't think any Knicks fan... There's no panic
- 2:17Speaker 5: setting in because no Knicks fan expects somebody like Jalen
- 2:20Speaker 5: Brunson to continue struggling like this, where if I have
- 2:23Speaker 5: a bigger cause for concern, it's somebody like Mikkel Bridges,
- 2:27Speaker 5: where yes, we traded a bunch of picks for him,
- 2:29Speaker 5: and yes, the end result was a title. Mikkel Bridges...
- 2:34Speaker 5: There there's a lot to be worried about. Mikkel Bridges,
- 2:37Speaker 5: where he still hasn't made a three this season. You
- 2:39Speaker 5: look at his stats.
- 2:40Speaker 1: He's been dreadful.
- 2:41Speaker 5: He's been dreadful this year. He's averaging three point three points,
- 2:44Speaker 5: three rebounds, two assists. It looks like he has forgotten
- 2:48Speaker 5: how to play basketball. So for me, the bigger concern
- 2:51Speaker 5: would be somebody like Mikkel Bridges, who there was already
- 2:54Speaker 5: some talk about him not being worth all the picks.
- 2:56Speaker 5: And then, of course, they win the title and it's
- 2:59Speaker 5: F them picks.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I am worried.
- 3:02Speaker 5: There's no way to dance around this. I am worried
- 3:04Speaker 5: about this next team.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Well, I'm glad we actually started here because if anybody
- 3:07Speaker 3: needs the advice of, hey, take a few days off.
- 3:10Speaker 3: It's Mikael Bridges. It's okay, man. Take a game off.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Take three games off. Follow my lead because maybe you'll
- 3:17Speaker 3: come back refreshed. I don't think he has no idea
- 3:20Speaker 3: what that feels like. The man has not had a
- 3:22Speaker 3: game off since, what, college?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Like, it's ridiculous how much he plays.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:27Speaker 3: No, he's taking games off. He's just taking them off
- 3:29Speaker 3: while he's playing.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Yeah just standing in that corner so.
- 3:34Speaker 3: That would just be the equivalent of me showing up
- 3:36Speaker 3: on a Wednesday and just being like hey Stu and
- 3:38Speaker 3: then just sitting here for the rest of the day.
- 3:40Speaker 1: That's what he's doing he's being introduced and then not
- 3:42Speaker 1: saying a.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Word yeah the interesting part with Jalen is like he's
- 3:46Speaker 3: just had to have been on for so long and
- 3:49Speaker 3: been so and the way he plays it's just hey
- 3:52Speaker 3: he's got to be meticulous he's got to be sharp
- 3:55Speaker 3: at all times he's got to make sure hey They're
- 3:57Speaker 3: taking away option A. Let me go to option B
- 3:59Speaker 3: or they're taking that away. Let me go to option C.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And he finds a way to go through all that
- 4:03Speaker 3: every single time, especially in important possessions. He's almost like
- 4:07Speaker 3: that quarterback that can just read through progression so well
- 4:11Speaker 3: and then always kill you with the fourth read. Like,
- 4:14Speaker 3: it's hard to do that all the time. And I'm
- 4:15Speaker 3: sure Jalen's like, hey, guys, how about you help me
- 4:18Speaker 3: out a little bit at the beginning of the season
- 4:19Speaker 3: so I can sort of breathe a little bit and
- 4:21Speaker 3: not have everything be placed on me.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Izzy, the other thing that I think is hard for
- 4:26Speaker 5: the Knicks to replicate on a night-to-night basis, and we
- 4:28Speaker 5: saw it in the postseason, where it feels like at
- 4:30Speaker 5: times this team coasts through the first three quarters, and
- 4:33Speaker 5: then the fourth quarter comes around, it's like, let's flip
- 4:36Speaker 5: the switch, where you've seen that early on a couple
- 4:39Speaker 5: of times this season, but now you have the extra
- 4:42Speaker 5: added pressure of being the defending champions, where every time
- 4:45Speaker 5: you go up against a team, every team wants to
- 4:47Speaker 5: give you their best shot, where the Magic can go
- 4:49Speaker 5: into Madison Square Garden without Paulo Banqueiro, and... Flip the
- 4:54Speaker 5: flip the switch against this Knicks team in the fourth quarter.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Didn't he make that joke on SNL? Like the first
- 4:59Speaker 3: three quarters of this game is going to be terrible.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 5: He takes off.
- 5:03Speaker 1: The problem is, and Taylor just doesn't want to say it.
- 5:05Speaker 1: The problem is he did SNL. I was telling Taylor yesterday,
- 5:10Speaker 1: like he spent all his Saturday nights pre winning a
- 5:14Speaker 1: championship in the gym, shooting, shooting, perfecting his craft. And
- 5:19Speaker 1: now he's doing stand-up comedy on a Saturday night, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 1: weeks before the season starts. And Taylor just doesn't want
- 5:25Speaker 1: to get mad at him yet.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I get it. Honestly, I had not
- 5:28Speaker 3: realized how bad Mikael Bridges has been. Oh, it's been bad.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I just kind of excuse the Knicks' poor start because,
- 5:33Speaker 3: like I said, those guys have played a lot of
- 5:35Speaker 3: games the last four seasons. So they're probably just a
- 5:37Speaker 3: little bit fatigued, especially the man at the top. But, yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 3: Mikael Bridges, man, take a day off.
- 5:41Speaker 1: You remember when the Heat won a championship with Antoine Walker?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Yeah, no, of course.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And Antoine spent the entire offseason drinking in Las Vegas.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It seems like Mikael Bridges was doing the same thing.
- 5:52Speaker 4: No days off.
- 5:53Speaker 3: That includes the offseason as well.
- 5:55Speaker 5: And Izzy, we're already starting to get the reports this
- 5:58Speaker 5: early into the season that Mikael Bridges... could be the Knicks'
- 6:02Speaker 5: preferred trade option to ease some of that second apron
- 6:04Speaker 5: concerns where it's like, you gave up so many first
- 6:06Speaker 5: round picks to get him back. I really don't think
- 6:09Speaker 5: the return matters with somebody like Mikael Bridges because it's like,
- 6:12Speaker 5: he already delivered the Knicks a title. So anything else
- 6:15Speaker 5: is a bonus, but I just got this alert. Assore
- 6:19Speaker 5: Thompson remains questionable and Isaiah Joe is also questionable with
- 6:23Speaker 5: an injury. If those two are out, The must win
- 6:26Speaker 5: becomes a gotta win it.
- 6:27Speaker 1: But imagine they lose.
- 6:29Speaker 3: You just did something that has driven me crazy, and
- 6:32Speaker 3: it's nothing, no offense to you, Taylor. Yeah, but you're
- 6:36Speaker 3: not a professional play-by-play guy. The Miami Heat guy, Eric Reid,
- 6:40Speaker 3: he oscillates between a SAR and a SAR all the time,
- 6:43Speaker 3: and I'm just like, pick one. Pick one and stick
- 6:46Speaker 3: to it. It's obviously Assar. He is not a sore.
- 6:48Speaker 3: He is Assar.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Okay. But maybe he doesn't know. He's not confident. He's
- 6:52Speaker 1: a very good broadcaster, and we.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Love Eric Reid.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I love Eric, too.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yes, but if he says it differently, 50% of the
- 6:58Speaker 1: audience thinks he's nailing it.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I'm just talking about the Knicks here because
- 7:04Speaker 3: I'm avoiding the real topic that the rest of the
- 7:06Speaker 3: league wants to talk about.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Somehow, the Knicks' poor start.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Somehow, the only thing that makes Taylor feel better about
- 7:15Speaker 1: the Knicks' poor start is the Heat's poor start.
- 7:18Speaker 3: And that's what I was trying to tell you.
- 7:19Speaker 1: He is delighting in Giannis, the Heat, and the Heat
- 7:23Speaker 1: not being very good with Giannis. And it seems to
- 7:25Speaker 1: me that him and Bam have similar games, and Bam
- 7:28Speaker 1: has been erased from the Heat's offense.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Well, I mean, look, and we're going to play some
- 7:32Speaker 3: sound for Bam here in a second, but we've seen
- 7:35Speaker 3: this so often with so many different iterations of the
- 7:38Speaker 3: Heat since, let's say, 2020. where people are asking this
- 7:43Speaker 3: of Bam and Bam and everybody's telling you, oh, don't worry,
- 7:45Speaker 3: his value is this and he will do this when
- 7:48Speaker 3: it matters. And it's just, I've heard that enough. And
- 7:52Speaker 3: this is one of the things where I'm very disappointed
- 7:56Speaker 3: in how he reacted to this, because this is what
- 8:00Speaker 3: basically Bam, where Bam went with basically questions afterward and
- 8:05Speaker 3: why they're struggling or Or what is the biggest issue?
- 8:08Speaker 3: He decided to blame the media.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Let's play that sound. I mean, the media is going
- 8:13Speaker 4: to be the media.
- 8:13Speaker 3: They're going to try to bury you when you're down,
- 8:15Speaker 3: but then it's quiet when you're up.
- 8:17Speaker 4: So, you know, you expect that from the media.
- 8:21Speaker 3: It's crazy that that... Look, look, I love Bam.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I have forever.
- 8:26Speaker 3: And this is... an example of him not really knowing
- 8:31Speaker 3: what it's like to be on this high expectation team.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Right. Like if you start out, Oh, and four and
- 8:38Speaker 3: your numbers are McHale bridges, like at times, then you
- 8:42Speaker 3: need to go ahead and internalize and you need to
- 8:44Speaker 3: go ahead and blame yourself, absorb the blame. If you are,
- 8:48Speaker 3: you know, strong enough to do so and then deal
- 8:51Speaker 3: with it, you know, on the basketball court or just say, Hey,
- 8:55Speaker 3: You know, it's my fault. I've got to find a way.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I might need some help from my other teammates, but
- 8:59Speaker 3: I've got to find a way. And this answer right here,
- 9:02Speaker 3: I hated it. Like, I absolutely hated it because you're
- 9:05Speaker 3: not there yet. In fact, the media, a lot of
- 9:09Speaker 3: the media, up until maybe a week before the season
- 9:11Speaker 3: when they saw a couple of preseason games, they all said, hey,
- 9:14Speaker 3: this team's not going to be that good. And so
- 9:16Speaker 3: it's not like they're saying you're not living up to
- 9:19Speaker 3: expectations as a team necessarily. It's you specifically are not
- 9:24Speaker 3: living up to expectations. Yes, you have to figure out
- 9:26Speaker 3: a way to play around Giannis, but come on. Like,
- 9:31Speaker 3: more than what you've been offering. You can't go into
- 9:33Speaker 3: fourth quarters having four points and just being like, it's
- 9:36Speaker 3: not my fault that we're losing here. Like, you've got
- 9:38Speaker 3: to find a way. Now, there's a lot of reasons
- 9:41Speaker 3: why this team is struggling, Stu.
- 9:43Speaker 4: And one of the most.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I guess, eye-opening things that has come out recently, I
- 9:48Speaker 3: believe it was yesterday, maybe even today, where Jeff Teague,
- 9:52Speaker 3: who has a great podcast, and every time anything happens
- 9:56Speaker 3: in the NBA, it feels like Jeff Teague has been
- 9:58Speaker 3: on a team with somebody.
- 10:00Speaker 4: That's relevant to the story.
- 10:02Speaker 3: And having played with Giannis, he can tell you, and
- 10:04Speaker 3: he said this, Giannis is a difficult superstar to play with.
- 10:09Speaker 3: And it's so funny that he said that because last night,
- 10:12Speaker 3: there was one play in particular last night where I said, man,
- 10:16Speaker 3: is Giannis going to be a problem? Because, and I
- 10:18Speaker 3: don't mean in terms of like, production obviously his production's
- 10:21Speaker 3: amazing his you know triple double in the game you
- 10:24Speaker 3: know it's 30 plus points in the two previous games
- 10:26Speaker 3: or two out of three previous games was was great
- 10:29Speaker 3: but there was one play where he's coming up the
- 10:32Speaker 3: court and i believe there was two mavericks defenders back
- 10:35Speaker 3: both had their eyes on him pella larson was sitting
- 10:38Speaker 3: wide open buck naked under the rim And just watch
- 10:42Speaker 3: Deionis take on those two defenders. Now, he ended with
- 10:44Speaker 3: a dunk, so you can't complain about the result. But
- 10:47Speaker 3: Pella didn't even celebrate. He was just like, would have
- 10:50Speaker 3: been a lot easier if you threw it to me.
- 10:53Speaker 3: But he does seem like a difficult player to play.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Because it's like, okay, what are you? Are you a
- 11:00Speaker 3: guy that we throw it into in the post and
- 11:02Speaker 3: then we work around you? Are you a guy that's
- 11:04Speaker 3: at the top of the circle where... You know, we
- 11:06Speaker 3: find ways to maybe do a high low with Bam
- 11:08Speaker 3: and get him an easy look. Are you a guy that,
- 11:11Speaker 3: you know, because you're not really going to be a
- 11:13Speaker 3: threat from the perimeter, should you be out there at all?
- 11:16Speaker 3: Because the defense is going to be packed in even more.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Are you a guy that we can play well off,
- 11:21Speaker 3: you know, dribble handoffs? I don't know any of that
- 11:25Speaker 3: to be necessarily true. And this is why it worked
- 11:28Speaker 3: so well with him and Chris Middleton in Milwaukee. If
- 11:31Speaker 3: you remember, it was, Hey, Chris, you get the ball
- 11:34Speaker 3: sort of in the Kobe spot, you know, the high post,
- 11:36Speaker 3: and you just go to work because you're a super.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Talented offensive player.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It was spaced out better.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah. And then the rest of us will work around that.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And I love, you know, the idea of Giannis being
- 11:47Speaker 3: a fast break starter and or finisher, right? Anytime you
- 11:50Speaker 3: have a chance at a fast break. You go ahead
- 11:53Speaker 3: and you give him the opportunity, even if it's going one-on-two, whatever,
- 11:58Speaker 3: just let him see if he can finish that. But
- 12:00Speaker 3: outside of that, you've got to be a lot more static.
- 12:03Speaker 3: You've got to be a lot more running of plays because...
- 12:07Speaker 3: It's unnatural to have Bam and Giannis play their games together.
- 12:12Speaker 3: So when you're just running this free-flowing offense that looks
- 12:15Speaker 3: like you're playing pickup ball at the park, it's not
- 12:18Speaker 3: going to work with those two. And the one that's
- 12:20Speaker 3: always going to suffer is going to be Bam because
- 12:23Speaker 3: he's never been a number one option. He's never had
- 12:25Speaker 3: a number one option mentality. Giannis does, so he's going
- 12:28Speaker 3: to take that. And he obviously has the greater physical advantage.
- 12:31Speaker 3: But so far... I'm not blaming Giannis whatsoever. He's the
- 12:35Speaker 3: new one in a new franchise with a bunch of
- 12:37Speaker 3: new teammates. I'm kind of blaming Spoh and their approach
- 12:41Speaker 3: to the beginning of this season and then Bam as
- 12:43Speaker 3: well for not finding a way to be more forceful.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Izzy, I think we're dancing around what everybody wants to
- 12:48Speaker 5: say today. Tyler Harrell was right about Bam out of bile.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I did say in a group chat yesterday that ironically
- 12:58Speaker 3: Bam feels like he needs to be punched in the
- 12:59Speaker 3: face because look, I'll just say this, like, Jimmy Butler,
- 13:05Speaker 3: he never said this on the record, but him, you know,
- 13:08Speaker 3: the conversation that was being had in his circle was,
- 13:13Speaker 3: Bam is a glorified role player, and....
- 13:17Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 13:18Speaker 3: Like he kind of is a glow. Like he can
- 13:20Speaker 3: play a bunch of roles and on the defensive side,
- 13:23Speaker 3: they can absolutely be stellar. And he did have that
- 13:26Speaker 3: one 83 point game against a terrible wizards team. But
- 13:29Speaker 3: for the most part, like he needs to fill roles
- 13:32Speaker 3: exceptionally well. And right now he's not. And you're just
- 13:37Speaker 3: probably asking a lot of him given what his natural
- 13:41Speaker 3: talents are.
- 13:41Speaker 1: So just quickly here, Izzy, the two things which have
- 13:44Speaker 1: to be frustrating are, If you're a Heat fan that
- 13:46Speaker 1: you just brought up, which is interesting to me. One,
- 13:50Speaker 1: Bam has been on a team that's been to the
- 13:52Speaker 1: NBA finals. That team just didn't have expectations headed into
- 13:55Speaker 1: the season. He is, for the first time in his career,
- 13:59Speaker 1: on a team that is dealing with heavy expectations headed
- 14:02Speaker 1: into the season. And it seems like he doesn't know
- 14:04Speaker 1: how to handle it.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Doesn't know how to handle it yet. Obviously, you have
- 14:07Speaker 3: your experiences and you sort of go through it. And
- 14:09Speaker 3: maybe he will quickly learn how to handle it. But
- 14:13Speaker 3: I do think the roster construction has been was questionable.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Like there aren't really a lot of savvy basketball people
- 14:20Speaker 3: like Pella Larson to me, I think, is the most
- 14:23Speaker 3: savvy guy on the team that has sort of a
- 14:26Speaker 3: new age basketball game.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Everybody else there seems like it has an old school game,
- 14:32Speaker 3: whether it be Klay Thompson now because he doesn't move
- 14:35Speaker 3: as well. So he's not, you know. a lot of
- 14:37Speaker 3: these great three point shooters around the league. I think
- 14:40Speaker 3: of Duncan Robinson, frankly, they shoot so well on the move.
- 14:43Speaker 3: They'd shoot well, even when contested, they shoot well, you know,
- 14:46Speaker 3: right off the, off the dribble handoff off the catch
- 14:49Speaker 3: when maybe they're not even open as, as much as
- 14:51Speaker 3: they're used to. But Tim Hardaway Jr. is just a
- 14:54Speaker 3: classic standstill guy.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Sure.
- 14:56Speaker 3: You know, Bam and Giannis are obviously more, you know,
- 15:00Speaker 3: post-up strengths and they're, they don't really have sort of
- 15:03Speaker 3: this new age game. And I think they need to
- 15:06Speaker 3: either add somebody like that, maybe play the rookie a
- 15:09Speaker 3: little bit. Conwell?
- 15:13Speaker 4: I think it's Conwell.
- 15:15Speaker 3: But I just feel like right now all their flaws
- 15:18Speaker 3: are so exposed. And the thing that really makes me
- 15:21Speaker 3: mad is the one thing that they're supposed to be
- 15:24Speaker 3: great at. They're supposed to be a great half-court defensive team.
- 15:27Speaker 3: They have not been. You can walk to the basket
- 15:30Speaker 3: against this team right now. Straight line drives are absolutely
- 15:33Speaker 3: killing this team. And Cooper Flagg yesterday looked like an
- 15:36Speaker 3: amazing player down the stretch, more forceful than even Giannis was.
- 15:41Speaker 1: He's becoming less and less of a bust, Cooper Flagg,
- 15:43Speaker 1: as we move forward here.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I said that last year.
- 15:45Speaker 1: The other thing that was super interesting to me, because
- 15:48Speaker 1: he is considered maybe the best coach in the game,
- 15:51Speaker 1: is you're upset with Spoh for not figuring out how
- 15:53Speaker 1: to space these two out, not during the regular season,
- 15:57Speaker 1: before the season starts.
- 15:58Speaker 3: If there's anybody that has had a sort of track
- 16:01Speaker 3: record of fixing things on the fly, it's Spoh. He's
- 16:04Speaker 3: great at it. So I don't really have, I haven't
- 16:07Speaker 3: lost faith in him. I'm just a little disappointed in
- 16:11Speaker 3: how it's starting now. Again, this is something that he said,
- 16:14Speaker 3: and I find 100% true. Nothing in the preseason, and
- 16:16Speaker 3: I'm guessing in practices as well, have led him to
- 16:19Speaker 3: believe that this is how they would show up. But
- 16:22Speaker 3: it has been now, and it's time to adjust. The
- 16:25Speaker 3: other player that I think is very much old school
- 16:27Speaker 3: in the way he plays, I'm not mad about the
- 16:31Speaker 3: way he's been producing, but Bobby Portis. Bobby Portis is
- 16:34Speaker 3: not the, you know, 2026 type of basketball player. He's
- 16:38Speaker 3: more like a, you know, maybe 2010 type of basketball player.
- 16:41Speaker 3: And I think for him to be at his best,
- 16:44Speaker 3: you can't be playing this fast. He reacts a little
- 16:47Speaker 3: bit slow on defense. Even on offense, he wants everything
- 16:50Speaker 3: to be a little bit more stable, a little bit slower.
- 16:52Speaker 3: And yeah, so the makeup of this team... Again, outside
- 16:56Speaker 3: of Pella Larson, I feel like to be a little
- 16:58Speaker 3: bit behind the times.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Izzy, while you were making those points, I was on
- 17:02Speaker 5: ESPN's NBA trade machine and I cooked up a trade
- 17:05Speaker 5: for a who says no.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Please don't send us Mikael Bridges. No.
- 17:08Speaker 5: So the Miami Heat send the Detroit Pistons bam out
- 17:12Speaker 5: of bio and coming back to the Miami Heat, Duncan Robinson,
- 17:17Speaker 5: Kevin Herter.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Ah, red velvets. I mean, how about that?
- 17:20Speaker 3: So you think Bam and Giannis don't work well together?
- 17:23Speaker 3: So you're going to put Bam and Jalen Duren together?
- 17:25Speaker 5: Well, I didn't really care too much about the Pistons
- 17:29Speaker 5: aspect of it. I just wanted spacing for.
- 17:31Speaker 4: You do need so much space.
- 17:33Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. That is 877-99 on Fox.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Leave it to this.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Show to open the show talking about two teams who
- 17:41Speaker 1: are a combined 0-7 in the NBA early on this season.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 17:49Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific
- 17:54Speaker 2: on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Izzy, Dan Beyer was out the other day. He's a
- 18:02Speaker 1: lifelong Milwaukee Brewers fan. He had the opportunity before we
- 18:05Speaker 1: get to him for the sports update to go to
- 18:08Speaker 1: a Brewers World Series game. And now I am wondering
- 18:11Speaker 1: how Dan Beyer feels like what it feels like to
- 18:14Speaker 1: be one win away. I mean, the Brewers, I got
- 18:17Speaker 1: to tell you, people say the Dodgers are bad for baseball.
- 18:19Speaker 4: No.
- 18:20Speaker 1: The Brewers are bad for baseball.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Why?
- 18:22Speaker 1: I mean, they are so dominant and so good.
- 18:24Speaker 5: They are so much better than Tampa Bay.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And so I'm wondering how it feels for Dan Beyer
- 18:30Speaker 1: today being one win away from a World Series championship.
- 18:34Speaker 3: How do you feel today, Dan?
- 18:35Speaker 4: It's an exciting day, Stu. It really is. And hopefully
- 18:38Speaker 4: it gets done tonight. It will be a.
- 18:41Speaker 6: Seventy five to 80 percent Brewers crowd tonight. I think
- 18:45Speaker 6: it was about 50 50 last night. It may even
- 18:47Speaker 6: be 90 10 tonight. My old college roommate, he's down
- 18:51Speaker 6: there with his wife and St. Pete going tonight. There
- 18:54Speaker 6: is no reason for the Rays to want to go
- 18:56Speaker 6: to this game. I hate to say that that this
- 18:59Speaker 6: is a done deal. But boy, does it feel like it?
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Dan, I can relate. I remember in 1997, I
- 19:06Speaker 3: was like, wow, I've waited four long years for this
- 19:08Speaker 3: Marlins team to win a World Series, and they finally
- 19:11Speaker 3: did it.
- 19:12Speaker 1: That's why I'm so happy for them, because our lousy
- 19:14Speaker 1: organization down here in Florida, the Marlins, have two World
- 19:18Speaker 1: Series championships since 1997. Yes, Taylor?
- 19:22Speaker 5: If I could take a victory lap here for a second,
- 19:24Speaker 5: I told Dan Beyer this series was over, and especially
- 19:27Speaker 5: the game on October 26th, where Izzy, yesterday, I had
- 19:30Speaker 5: this stat that the Brewers were the most dominant team
- 19:33Speaker 5: in baseball on the 26th of the month this season,
- 19:36Speaker 5: going 7-0 on the 26th, and they were outscoring their
- 19:39Speaker 5: opponent 53-9. I told Dan Beyer it was over because
- 19:43Speaker 5: the game was on the 26th, and now it's 63-10
- 19:46Speaker 5: where they've outscored their opponent.
- 19:49Speaker 3: He told me before.
- 19:50Speaker 4: And after. He texted me after. He just said they
- 19:52Speaker 4: don't lose on the 26th.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Stahler, put it on the poll or the Brewers ban
- 19:57Speaker 1: for baseball. Dan, I just want to be clear on
- 19:59Speaker 1: your stance here. Are you saying the Rays don't want
- 20:02Speaker 1: to play tonight's game? The actual players don't want to
- 20:04Speaker 1: show up tonight? I'm not saying the players. I am
- 20:07Speaker 1: saying all of their fans. There is no reason to
- 20:10Speaker 1: show up tonight. Who wants to go to a series
- 20:12Speaker 1: game when your team's down 3-0?
- 20:15Speaker 4: There would be no reason to.
- 20:18Speaker 6: I told Taylor the only thing stopping the Brewers was
- 20:20Speaker 6: a leap year because the 26th was just undeniable. That
- 20:23Speaker 6: was the only thing. The calendar is the only thing
- 20:25Speaker 6: that could have tripped up Milwaukee last night.
- 20:27Speaker 1: My birthday is on the 26th. Happy birthday.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Totally unnecessary.
- 20:35Speaker 4: June.
- 20:36Speaker 1: But hopefully I'll remember your birthday now. There's a good
- 20:39Speaker 1: chance I won't. Do you have a celebration lined up
- 20:41Speaker 1: for tonight, Dan? Like what is going to be happening
- 20:44Speaker 1: in the buyer household if the Brewers do indeed pull
- 20:46Speaker 1: it off?
- 20:46Speaker 6: Well, my wife will be watching Dancing with the Stars.
- 20:49Speaker 6: That is guaranteed. So I will be upstairs. I don't
- 20:52Speaker 6: have anything planned. I mean, it's just sit back and
- 20:56Speaker 6: enjoy the ride and whatever happens, happens. I'm not going
- 20:59Speaker 6: to be Jim Nansen right out my line and yell
- 21:01Speaker 6: it out my window and I'm not going to jump
- 21:03Speaker 6: in a pool. I'm not going to do any of
- 21:05Speaker 6: that stuff. We'll just see what happens if it happens.
- 21:07Speaker 1: All right. If the series gets back to Milwaukee, you're
- 21:10Speaker 1: going or or what?
- 21:11Speaker 4: Probably not.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Probably.
- 21:13Speaker 6: Yes, there was just a there was a one shot
- 21:15Speaker 6: deal in game one.
- 21:18Speaker 5: So there's a tweet going viral right now from October 27th, 2019.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Where SNY tweeted out the Mets were going through a
- 21:28Speaker 5: manager search and they had a mystery candidate that everybody
- 21:31Speaker 5: kept saying, oh, who's the mystery candidate? Who's the mystery candidate?
- 21:35Speaker 5: The Mets mystery candidate is reportedly Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy. Now,
- 21:39Speaker 5: Pat Murphy is now the Brewers manager. But if you
- 21:42Speaker 5: go to that tweet on October 27, 2019, the reason
- 21:45Speaker 5: why it's going viral is is because it's all Mets
- 21:48Speaker 5: fans saying, who the hell is Pat Murphy? Why would
- 21:51Speaker 5: we want to hire Pat Murphy? What does Pat Murphy
- 21:53Speaker 5: know about baseball? And Milwaukee was thrilled to get him.
- 21:57Speaker 5: So the Mets wound up hiring Carlos Beltran. And then
- 22:00Speaker 5: two and a half months later, the Astros scandal came
- 22:04Speaker 5: out and Carlos Beltran and the Mets parted ways. Never
- 22:08Speaker 5: managed a game.
- 22:10Speaker 6: The flip side of that is the Mets wanting David
- 22:12Speaker 6: Stearns for years when he was in Milwaukee. Then he
- 22:15Speaker 6: kind of takes this hiatus and they still want him
- 22:17Speaker 6: 10 minutes on the job. They want him out like
- 22:20Speaker 6: they are done with Stearns immediately already. End of story
- 22:23Speaker 6: after wanting him for so long.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Jaron Jackson is on the jazz.
- 22:29Speaker 5: That's what the Jays and Jaron Jackson Jr. stand for.
- 22:33Speaker 3: When did that happen? Was it last year?
- 22:38Speaker 4: They had their little fire sale, if you will.
- 22:41Speaker 1: The least shocking news I've ever heard in an update
- 22:43Speaker 1: is that Kawhi Leonard is out for multiple weeks.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Most shocking news I've heard in a while is Muggsy
- 22:48Speaker 3: Bogues getting his number retired. What took them so long
- 22:50Speaker 3: to figure that one out? That guy's been out of
- 22:52Speaker 3: the league forever.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I don't know if Muggsy Bogues should have his number retired.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I mean... You know, I was watching a clip.
- 22:58Speaker 1: We're making a concession just because Muggsy Bogues was 5'3.
- 23:01Speaker 3: But it's worth it, right? There's so many retired numbers
- 23:04Speaker 3: up there in arenas where you're just like, who is
- 23:06Speaker 3: that guy?
- 23:07Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Muggsy Bogues, you'd remember just for being little. I watched
- 23:11Speaker 3: a clip the other day of him blocking a Patrick
- 23:13Speaker 3: Ewing shot. And I was like, that might be the
- 23:15Speaker 3: most impressive clip I've ever seen in NBA history.
- 23:17Speaker 5: But you guys would agree, in terms of Mount Rushmore
- 23:20Speaker 5: jerseys that you could get from the 90s, the Charlotte
- 23:23Speaker 5: Hornets Muggsy Bogues jersey is probably on that Mount Rushmore.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Number one.
- 23:27Speaker 3: It's on a mountain of its own. It was the
- 23:29Speaker 3: best jersey. It was the best starter jacket. It was
- 23:33Speaker 3: just amazing. I mean, they could just rerun those every
- 23:38Speaker 3: single year, and I'd be happy.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Put it on the poll, Taylor. Is Muggsy Bogues deserving
- 23:42Speaker 1: of having his number retired? I mean, I think just
- 23:46Speaker 1: for the Jersey, how cool the Jersey was. I understand
- 23:48Speaker 1: the Jersey school, but having your number retired is reserved
- 23:51Speaker 1: for the best of the best. And I don't view
- 23:53Speaker 1: Muggsy Bogues as being the.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Best of the best. He's the best of the small.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Name a better 5'3 player. Spud Webb.
- 24:01Speaker 6: It's also an opportunity for the Hornets to say, let's
- 24:07Speaker 6: get some fans in the arena. So I pose this
- 24:09Speaker 6: question to you guys. I hope you didn't look it up.
- 24:11Speaker 6: Guess who the Hornets opponent is on Thursday, February 11th.
- 24:16Speaker 6: So what team would they go up against to try
- 24:20Speaker 6: to bring fans into the arena? To see the Muggsy
- 24:23Speaker 6: Bogues in Jersey retirement.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Sacramento?
- 24:26Speaker 4: Okay.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 3: You each get a guess. You each get a guess.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Stu?
- 24:30Speaker 3: All right, so it's got to be one of the
- 24:32Speaker 3: bad teams here.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I was going to say the Heat. I'm going to
- 24:40Speaker 1: say Sacramento.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Okay, Sacramento.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Taylor?
- 24:42Speaker 3: I changed mine. I'm going with the L.A.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Clippers. Stu, you got Clippers? Or excuse me, Izzy? Izzy does, yep.
- 24:48Speaker 5: I'm going to go with Ty Jerome and the Memphis
- 24:51Speaker 5: Grizzlies coming to town.
- 24:52Speaker 4: I'm defeated. I want to watch Ty Jerome now.
- 24:54Speaker 5: All of a sudden, Ty Jerome's averaging like 30 points
- 24:56Speaker 5: a game.
- 24:58Speaker 6: It's my Milwaukee Bucks. That is who they have. That
- 25:01Speaker 6: is who they bring in. Tickets right now as low
- 25:04Speaker 6: as $ 12 if you would like to go, but I
- 25:05Speaker 6: expect to see that rise again.
- 25:07Speaker 4: On the Muggsy Bogues News. I miss Tyler Hero. Do you?
- 25:12Speaker 3: You were better with him. I was watching a Bucs
- 25:14Speaker 3: game in the opening night or whatever their first game was,
- 25:17Speaker 3: and it was just basically a Miami Heat game in
- 25:19Speaker 3: different uniforms. It was 80% of the team on the
- 25:21Speaker 3: floor was on the.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Heat last year.
- 25:24Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. 877-99 on Fox. Would like to take
- 25:29Speaker 1: some phone calls here. Izzy has, I mean, he is
- 25:32Speaker 1: unhinged today. I don't want to I don't want to
- 25:38Speaker 1: give away your take here, but what you were telling
- 25:40Speaker 1: me during the break is you feel like college football
- 25:44Speaker 1: is a better product at this point in time than
- 25:46Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Is that fair?
- 25:48Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 25:48Speaker 3: And I think Taylor would agree with me on this, right?
- 25:50Speaker 3: Like Saturdays have just had so much more juice to them,
- 25:54Speaker 3: whether it be, you know, big names falling or big teams,
- 25:58Speaker 3: you know, being upset. or if it's just really great
- 26:01Speaker 3: finishes to games, it's just been a lot more exciting.
- 26:04Speaker 3: And a lot of the times, you know, I'll turn
- 26:06Speaker 3: on the NFL for the day and it's just like,
- 26:09Speaker 3: oh my God, like what is happening? First of all,
- 26:11Speaker 3: I get really frustrated because I'll put like, I've got,
- 26:13Speaker 3: you know, the Sunday ticket and I'm trying to watch
- 26:15Speaker 3: like toggle between like five or six games and they're
- 26:18Speaker 3: all on commercial. Like how does that ever happen? But
- 26:21Speaker 3: then the games just aren't that compelling until you get
- 26:24Speaker 3: to the end and it's, you know, 17, 13 and
- 26:26Speaker 3: will the Green Bay Packers pull.
- 26:28Speaker 4: This one out?
- 26:29Speaker 3: And it's just not that exciting. I mean, Taylor, you
- 26:31Speaker 3: got to agree with me here. College football has been
- 26:33Speaker 3: better at least this season, right?
- 26:35Speaker 5: So Izzy, I am definitely with you. If I was
- 26:37Speaker 5: playing the game, one's got to go. NFL Sundays for
- 26:40Speaker 5: me would be the ones to go where I would
- 26:43Speaker 5: gladly give that up if it meant keeping college football Saturdays.
- 26:47Speaker 5: I am not a smoker. When I finish a college
- 26:49Speaker 5: football Saturday, like the end of the BYU-UCF game, I
- 26:54Speaker 5: feel like Stu Gotts where I'm like, I need a cigarette.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Well, I'm also not a smoker. I mean, I don't
- 26:58Speaker 3: know what you're talking about.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I feel like I need a cigarette after a Saturday.
- 27:02Speaker 4: Of college football. Biggest lie ever told on this show.
- 27:04Speaker 4: There it was.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Yeah. It's just even the overtime, you know, it's just
- 27:10Speaker 3: lends itself to more exciting finishes rather than you just
- 27:13Speaker 3: yelling at your screen.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Hey, Jaden Daniels, what are you doing? Right.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Like, it's just so much more exciting. So there's that
- 27:19Speaker 3: rule change that I would love for the NFL. But
- 27:20Speaker 3: one thing that I feel like the NFL needs.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:23Speaker 3: To get better, to get on college football's level.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 27:27Speaker 3: More teams. Like a lot more teams. They need to
- 27:31Speaker 3: expand to 40 teams in the NFL.
- 27:34Speaker 5: What?
- 27:34Speaker 3: Yes, because look, every time I watch a game, I'm like,
- 27:38Speaker 3: I don't know who that third string cornerback is who
- 27:41Speaker 3: has to play, but somehow he's managing to stay with,
- 27:45Speaker 3: I don't know, the Cleveland Browns number one receiver. Like
- 27:47Speaker 3: there's so much talent in the NFL. that you need
- 27:51Speaker 3: to spread it out and you need some terrible teams, man.
- 27:56Speaker 3: There's so much conservative play in the NFL because, wow,
- 28:00Speaker 3: I don't even know if my fastest receiver can get
- 28:03Speaker 3: past their worst safety and we can just bomb it
- 28:05Speaker 3: down the field. It feels like there aren't enough Tyreek
- 28:08Speaker 3: Hills in the league or whatever to do that, but
- 28:11Speaker 3: there's just enough talent all around. You need terrible teams.
- 28:14Speaker 3: You need like a 50 to 10 game. You need
- 28:17Speaker 3: a team. You need to go into a game as
- 28:19Speaker 3: an NFL team. If you're the Los Angeles Rams, for example,
- 28:22Speaker 3: you need to go into a game against a terrible
- 28:24Speaker 3: team and feel like, OK, finally, this is a cupcake team.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Let's just unleash some hell on them. and show our
- 28:30Speaker 3: fans all of our talent.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I feel like the Jets have a monopoly on bad teams.
- 28:35Speaker 1: The Dolphins as well. I think we have plenty of
- 28:37Speaker 1: bad teams, but you want eight more.
- 28:38Speaker 3: But they're not bad enough. They're not bad enough where
- 28:41Speaker 3: you feel like, oh, this is going to be easy today.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Not just easy like, okay, if we just play conservative
- 28:48Speaker 3: and don't turn the ball over, we'll win this game
- 28:50Speaker 3: because we have one or two better playmakers. I'm talking
- 28:54Speaker 3: about top to bottom. Like, oh, we're so much better
- 28:56Speaker 3: than this team. Let's just unload and... If an upset
- 29:00Speaker 3: happens in that scenario, it's absolutely mind-blowing. As opposed to,
- 29:05Speaker 3: you know, the Arizona Cardinals beating the Rams. It's like, oh, okay,
- 29:08Speaker 3: any given Sunday that can happen.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Right.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Eight additional teams means you spread the talent out. You
- 29:13Speaker 1: find out if there are any other good quarterbacks who
- 29:15Speaker 1: aren't playing because they're currently stuck behind a couple of
- 29:17Speaker 1: guys on their own roster. Taylor, imagine the Rams facing
- 29:20Speaker 1: a team led by Stetson Bennett.
- 29:24Speaker 4: I would absolutely. Okay.
- 29:26Speaker 3: And maybe this is just the Miami Dolphins fan in me.
- 29:29Speaker 3: who has just been suffering with mediocre team after mediocre team.
- 29:32Speaker 3: But yeah, if my team was good, I would want
- 29:35Speaker 3: them to just blow out a team every once in
- 29:37Speaker 3: a while. And right now, we just don't see enough
- 29:40Speaker 3: of that. And it's just too many low scoring games
- 29:42Speaker 3: because everybody's playing so conservatively. Like if I wanted to, hey,
- 29:46Speaker 3: I want to try a couple of trick plays. I'm
- 29:48Speaker 3: going to do that against the Louisville, you know, whatever,
- 29:51Speaker 3: the chickens, some other franchise that just debuted. And it's
- 29:58Speaker 3: just like, okay, that play is going to work. Maybe
- 30:00Speaker 3: I'll try that in the playoffs. But there's just such
- 30:02Speaker 3: conservative play because there's just too many quality athletes out there.
- 30:07Speaker 3: and we need to just give more spots and have
- 30:09Speaker 3: a few terrible players.
- 30:11Speaker 5: I would buy a Case Keenum Hartford Huskies jersey so quickly.
- 30:15Speaker 3: And you can't tell me that the NFL isn't so
- 30:18Speaker 3: popular that it doesn't matter where you put them, they're
- 30:21Speaker 3: going to sell enough tickets. I don't care if you're...
- 30:23Speaker 3: I mean, the Miami Dolphins were thought to be a
- 30:25Speaker 3: winless team this year. And, you know, they still sell
- 30:28Speaker 3: enough tickets for their stadium. So, yeah, Hartford is a
- 30:30Speaker 3: great spot for a new NFL team.
- 30:33Speaker 1: All right, so I get the idea of buying a jersey,
- 30:36Speaker 1: a Case Keenum jersey, for the Hartford Huskies. Would you
- 30:38Speaker 1: buy a ticket to go see the Hartford Huskies play?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Would you tune into the game?
- 30:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 2: But why?
- 30:44Speaker 3: It's going to be a blowout. Okay, if you're the
- 30:47Speaker 3: losing team, right, if you're the team that's terrible, you're just—
- 30:50Speaker 3: You're in it for sort of the novelty of it.
- 30:52Speaker 3: It's like, wow, I've got an NFL team. And then
- 30:54Speaker 3: you work your way up to being something good. And
- 30:56Speaker 3: then those really good teams can really show their stuff
- 30:59Speaker 3: instead of just winning 14 to 7 every week.
- 31:01Speaker 1: So I think we need to, in order for this
- 31:03Speaker 1: to work, you would have to have stakes attached that
- 31:06Speaker 1: normally aren't attached to an NFL game. Meaning if you
- 31:09Speaker 1: lose to one of the really bad teams led by
- 31:11Speaker 1: Stetson Bennett or Case Keenum, it shouldn't just be a loss.
- 31:15Speaker 1: It should be maybe a couple losses.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Have a player taken away from you? And put on
- 31:19Speaker 3: their team. Yes.
- 31:22Speaker 5: The topic that we're dancing around is the soccer model
- 31:26Speaker 5: with promotion and relegation where teams have something to play
- 31:29Speaker 5: for every week. But Izzy's idea would be perfect in
- 31:34Speaker 5: Roger Goodell's NFL because Roger Goodell wants to take over
- 31:38Speaker 5: every day of the week. And what better day to
- 31:41Speaker 5: take over with Tuesday with some of your bottom tier
- 31:43Speaker 5: teams where you got the Hartford Huskies versus the Little
- 31:47Speaker 5: Rock Riverhawks coming to town.
- 31:50Speaker 3: I'm telling you, you don't think Portland look how how
- 31:54Speaker 3: great the Portland soccer fans are. And you don't think
- 31:56Speaker 3: Portland would absolutely love an NFL team, even if they
- 31:59Speaker 3: weren't the greatest team for another, you know, two decades.
- 32:03Speaker 1: If you're a city that doesn't have an NFL team,
- 32:05Speaker 1: would you want a bad NFL team?
- 32:09Speaker 3: Did they get the draft?
- 32:10Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, of course.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:12Speaker 1: But then, but then they become good.
- 32:13Speaker 3: There's so many teams. There's so many players in college football. Like,
- 32:17Speaker 3: I mean, There's seven rounds of NFL drafts still. Just
- 32:20Speaker 3: go ahead and make that 10 rounds. You're still going
- 32:22Speaker 3: to find quality players. And, you know, obviously there's going
- 32:25Speaker 3: to be some that are bad, but that's the whole point. Hey,
- 32:27Speaker 3: we want to be able to take advantage of this
- 32:29Speaker 3: cornerback right here. We're going to run, you know, nine
- 32:31Speaker 3: routes on him all day long. We're going to win
- 32:33Speaker 3: 60 to five, 60 to five.
- 32:35Speaker 4: What a weird score.
- 32:35Speaker 3: 60 to 15. And all of a sudden our fans
- 32:38Speaker 3: are going to feel like, wow, I really love this team.
- 32:39Speaker 3: I do like the idea of the Bears at the
- 32:42Speaker 3: Hartford Huskies. And if the Huskies happen to win, Case
- 32:44Speaker 3: Keenum goes to the Bears. Caleb Williams wins.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Has to stay with the harford huskies stew you mentioned
- 32:51Speaker 1: would within the huskies are good yeah yes.
- 32:54Speaker 5: You mentioned like would cities want to have bad nfl
- 32:57Speaker 5: teams and then it just goes back to the quote
- 32:59Speaker 5: where it's better to have an nfl team and lost
- 33:01Speaker 5: it than to never have an nfl team at all.
- 33:03Speaker 7: I'm not so certain people say that quote all the
- 33:06Speaker 7: time i mean i'd rather not have one i mean
- 33:09Speaker 7: ask the oilers fans ask me As a Dolphins fan
- 33:12Speaker 7: who's on a terrible streak right now, I would love
- 33:16Speaker 7: for them to just get a guaranteed win against the
- 33:18Speaker 7: Charleston Chuckers.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Like, why not?
- 33:22Speaker 4: So you're just looking for Ws.
- 33:24Speaker 3: I'm just looking for more big plays, more exciting plays
- 33:28Speaker 3: in the NFL and more big scores.
- 33:30Speaker 1: And then occasionally Appalachian State will beat Michigan and everyone
- 33:34Speaker 1: will be shocked.
- 33:34Speaker 2: 100%.
- 33:34Speaker 3: It's just going to be like, wow, maybe there is
- 33:37Speaker 3: a future for this team.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 1: More bad teams.
- 33:42Speaker 3: You fix the NFL.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I mean, because it needs fixing.
- 33:45Speaker 4: You're welcome, Roger.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 33:49Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Pacific.
- 33:56Speaker 1: So Borda Ricardo, Ricky Mantle, when the Yankees are playing,
- 34:00Speaker 1: just walked in here. With confidence and told Izzy, terrible idea.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Whatever, bro. That's because he doesn't want to go to
- 34:09Speaker 3: small towns.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Well, this is a man who travels with the Dolphins,
- 34:13Speaker 1: and yes, he does not want to go to Hartford, Connecticut.
- 34:16Speaker 5: He goes to Indianapolis, and he dreads that.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Yeah, no, on second thought, Hartford does not deserve a team.
- 34:21Speaker 4: We need a lot more interesting cities than that one.
- 34:24Speaker 1: What do you make, Izzy, here of we only have
- 34:26Speaker 1: a few minutes of Dante Moore not going to play
- 34:29Speaker 1: again for the remainder of the season?
- 34:31Speaker 3: It is funny.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Taylor was railing against it before the field Yateses of
- 34:34Speaker 1: the world because he didn't want to say Mel Kiper.
- 34:37Speaker 1: He gets mad at them because it's their job to
- 34:39Speaker 1: know who's going to be the great quarterbacks. And for
- 34:41Speaker 1: the second consecutive year, all the great quarterbacks that they
- 34:45Speaker 1: were telling us before the season started turned out to
- 34:47Speaker 1: not be very good or got injured. And you're seeing
- 34:50Speaker 1: it now with Dante Moore and with Arch Manning.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I mean, Dante, I don't know. He's obviously had some
- 34:59Speaker 3: great games in the past. He's a part of a
- 35:01Speaker 3: pretty decent offense. You know, Oregon always feels like a
- 35:04Speaker 3: fun offense, regardless of who's running it over there. But,
- 35:08Speaker 3: you know, I don't know if it's just my thinking here.
- 35:10Speaker 3: I always thought he was just OK. Like I thought
- 35:13Speaker 3: he was, you know, perfect. maybe body wise didn't really
- 35:17Speaker 3: make for the perfect NFL quarterback, but, uh, yeah, no,
- 35:21Speaker 3: I just think he's, he's, he's probably going to be decent.
- 35:23Speaker 3: I just, I don't know how often you can really
- 35:26Speaker 3: make that judgment. It also depends on, you know, how, how,
- 35:28Speaker 3: you know, what kind of offensive guys running everything else. Um,
- 35:31Speaker 3: You know, I'm in love with Drew Mestemaker right now
- 35:33Speaker 3: from OSU, like a lot of people are from Oklahoma State.
- 35:35Speaker 3: But he could come into the NFL and never having played,
- 35:38Speaker 3: you know, under center and just be terrible. But, yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 3: it's one of the interesting parts about football in general.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Even though your stock is falling, you still have the
- 35:48Speaker 1: ability to go to the combine, to talk to the teams,
- 35:51Speaker 1: to perform in front of the teams, to have a
- 35:52Speaker 1: pro day. It doesn't mean you're not going to be
- 35:55Speaker 1: selected just because you're injured doesn't mean you're not going
- 35:57Speaker 1: to be a first round pick. You might not be
- 35:59Speaker 1: the second pick overall in the draft like people were
- 36:01Speaker 1: projecting for Dante Moore, but it doesn't mean he can't
- 36:04Speaker 1: be a first round pick and be a very good
- 36:06Speaker 1: NFL quarterback. I just think this this decision that both
- 36:09Speaker 1: these guys have to make stay transfer or go to
- 36:12Speaker 1: the NFL. is a fascinating decision for both guys considering
- 36:17Speaker 1: where they were when the season started.
- 36:18Speaker 3: You know, and this wouldn't be as big of a
- 36:20Speaker 3: problem if there was more teams. And you know, you're
- 36:23Speaker 3: almost guaranteeing yourself a starting spot or at least being
- 36:27Speaker 3: drafted high with a team taking a chance on you.
- 36:29Speaker 3: I didn't even get into the fact that, man. If
- 36:31Speaker 3: you're a coach of one of these, like, you know,
- 36:33Speaker 3: potentially terrible teams, you know, the cupcakes of the NFL.
- 36:36Speaker 3: You have to have a big time coach. No, you
- 36:38Speaker 3: got to have an innovative coach. Just try some stuff.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Just try some stuff and be like, hey, you know what?
- 36:44Speaker 3: They might be able to win because their coach is
- 36:46Speaker 3: doing some wacky stuff.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Izzy, you think it would be innovative coaches getting these jobs?
- 36:51Speaker 5: It would be like Bob Stoops getting these jobs.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Yes, but that's enough to scare me.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Here comes Wade Phillips to town. That doesn't scare me.
- 36:58Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of Ben Johnson type of
- 37:01Speaker 3: coaches that are going to come in and be like,
- 37:02Speaker 3: you know what? I'm going to run the craziest stuff
- 37:04Speaker 3: in the world.
- 37:05Speaker 4: And you know what?
- 37:06Speaker 3: If it works, great. If it doesn't, at least your
- 37:08Speaker 3: team has a personality.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I'm just saying the Hartford Huskies need to stroll into
- 37:12Speaker 1: a soldier field, having someone like Bill Parcells. That's just,
- 37:17Speaker 1: and maybe, maybe we'll be tricked into thinking, wow, that
- 37:21Speaker 1: coach can scheme well enough and they might have a
- 37:23Speaker 1: chance to pull off the upset here.
- 37:25Speaker 5: The Hartford Huskies, you're getting Dan Orlovsky and you're going
- 37:27Speaker 5: to like it.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Bill Belichick would still be in the NFL with eight
- 37:31Speaker 3: more teams. I don't know if that's a good thing
- 37:33Speaker 3: or not.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. The NFL had 40 teams.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Would Belichick be a head coach?
- 37:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 5: North Carolina is the 33rd NFL team, according to Lombardi
- 37:42Speaker 5: and Belichick.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Clowns. Oh, God.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I can't get over Muggsy Bogues and the jersey retirement.
- 37:47Speaker 3: I'm just stuck there. Do you think his banner is
- 37:49Speaker 3: going to be shorter than the others? It should be.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Just to make a point that they want.
- 37:52Speaker 3: To do it right.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Hey. I'm trying to think of the most undeserving retired jerseys.
- 37:59Speaker 1: And Michael Jordan's jersey in the Heat Arena has to
- 38:02Speaker 1: be up there.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Oh, come on. It's weird. It is weird, but it's
- 38:07Speaker 3: not real.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Probably Shador Sanders in Colorado.
- 38:09Speaker 3: How about Vladi Divac in Sacramento?
- 38:13Speaker 1: We have exactly 15 minutes to take your phone calls
- 38:18Speaker 1: on whatever it is you would like to talk about.
- 38:20Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. That's 877-99 on Fox. Matt Liner is
- 38:26Speaker 1: going to join us in about 20 minutes. So we
- 38:29Speaker 1: have 15 minutes.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Here for calls.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Uh, Taylor has a metal stand, I believe of undeserving
- 38:36Speaker 1: Jersey retirements. Really quick research.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Yeah. All right.
- 38:40Speaker 3: So what do you have for us?
- 38:41Speaker 1: Give us the, uh, Give us the bronze medal of
- 38:44Speaker 1: guys who don't deserve to have their jerseys retired in sports.
- 38:48Speaker 5: My bronze medal goes to the Oklahoma City Thunder for
- 38:52Speaker 5: retiring the number four for Nick Collison.
- 38:55Speaker 3: That's their Udonis Haslam.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Yes, but he's not Udonis Haslam.
- 38:59Speaker 4: He's not. He's not a three-time champion.
- 39:01Speaker 5: The Thunder should have waited until Russell Westbrook to retire
- 39:03Speaker 5: a jersey.
- 39:04Speaker 4: That was the first one? Was Nick Collison?
- 39:06Speaker 5: Yeah, for the Thunder specifically.
- 39:07Speaker 3: So why?
- 39:07Speaker 1: I mean, there has to be something behind Nick Collison
- 39:09Speaker 1: getting his jersey retired. Was he the first draft pick?
- 39:12Speaker 1: Was he something to the Oklahoma City Thunder?
- 39:14Speaker 3: It was just, you know, they had come from Seattle,
- 39:16Speaker 3: and he was their grit and, well, I shouldn't say
- 39:19Speaker 3: grit and grind because we already mentioned the Memphis Grizzlies
- 39:22Speaker 3: and their terrible one. But, yeah, he was just their guy.
- 39:25Speaker 3: He was their fixture, and they loved him.
- 39:28Speaker 4: And he's white. Wait, what?
- 39:29Speaker 2: See?
- 39:31Speaker 3: But he's undeserving of having his jersey yeah based on
- 39:34Speaker 3: other standards from other franchises i would say yeah.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Is nick collison's jersey retired at kansas.
- 39:40Speaker 5: Yeah it has to be no Yes.
- 39:42Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be. It'd be great if it wasn't.
- 39:45Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure he won a national championship there with
- 39:46Speaker 5: Roy Williams.
- 39:47Speaker 1: I know, but he won nothing in the NBA, and
- 39:49Speaker 1: yet somehow he still has his jersey retired. I mean,
- 39:53Speaker 1: you got to hold out if you're Oklahoma City. Did
- 39:55Speaker 1: they not think they were going to be good ever?
- 39:57Speaker 1: I mean, anyway.
- 40:00Speaker 5: So Kansas does not officially retire jersey numbers.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Ah, you see? I mean, it is odd that the
- 40:07Speaker 1: place in which Nick Collison was actually good at playing
- 40:10Speaker 1: the game of basketball.
- 40:12Speaker 3: His.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Jersey is still available.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Then why am I looking at a list of retired
- 40:15Speaker 3: Kansas basketball jerseys on Rock Chalk Zone? And, yeah, Nick
- 40:19Speaker 3: Collison is one of them, but maybe it's not technically retired.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Conflicting reports.
- 40:24Speaker 5: So they retire jerseys. They don't retire jersey numbers.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 40:28Speaker 4: So, yes, he is one of the jerseys that is retired.
- 40:30Speaker 1: So it just says Collison up there?
- 40:31Speaker 3: Yeah, right up there with Wilt Chamberlain.
- 40:35Speaker 1: And no national title for Collison.
- 40:37Speaker 2: No.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I mean, this guy has more jerseys retired for not
- 40:40Speaker 1: doing anything.
- 40:43Speaker 5: So my silver medal.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:45Speaker 5: The Orlando Magic retiring the number six to honor all
- 40:48Speaker 5: their fans. Just such a lame move.
- 40:51Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Who did this?
- 40:52Speaker 5: The Orlando Magic.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Oh, because when I think about the Orlando Magic, I
- 40:56Speaker 1: think about all their fans.
- 40:57Speaker 5: It's like the six men. That's what they're going for.
- 41:02Speaker 1: If you were going to retire something on behalf of
- 41:05Speaker 1: a fan base, who would it be? I mean, just.
- 41:08Speaker 1: just based on their passion.
- 41:10Speaker 5: The Seahawks, the 12s.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Yeah, the Brewers.
- 41:13Speaker 4: The Brew crew.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Not the Rays. I guess the thing with Nick Collison
- 41:17Speaker 3: is he spent his entire career with the franchise, either
- 41:20Speaker 3: Seattle or OKC.
- 41:21Speaker 4: So that's why they retired him. 14 years.
- 41:23Speaker 1: It's not a reason to retire a jersey.
- 41:25Speaker 3: I mean, six years shy of Udonis Haslam.
- 41:27Speaker 1: No, but Haslam won three titles.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Again, I'm not disagreeing with you. In that one season
- 41:31Speaker 4: where he played 82 games.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Just one.
- 41:35Speaker 8: Two.
- 41:35Speaker 4: Two, I lied.
- 41:36Speaker 1: My bad. Your gold medal here.
- 41:38Speaker 5: My gold medal. So you guys mentioned the Heat retiring
- 41:40Speaker 5: Michael Jordan's number because they thought every team in the
- 41:44Speaker 5: NBA would follow suit, and then it wound up being
- 41:46Speaker 5: the only non-Michael Jordan team to retire the number 23
- 41:49Speaker 5: for Jordan. I don't even think that's the saddest one
- 41:52Speaker 5: in South Florida because the Miami Marlins or the Florida Marlins,
- 41:56Speaker 5: they retired the number five for Carl Barger, who was
- 41:59Speaker 5: the first president of the Florida Marlins in 1991. They
- 42:02Speaker 5: retired the number five because Barger's favorite baseball player was
- 42:06Speaker 5: Joe DiMaggio, who wore number five for the Yankees. And
- 42:09Speaker 5: then they wound up unretiring the number five because Logan
- 42:11Speaker 5: Morrison asked nicely for it.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Lomo.
- 42:15Speaker 8: Yes.
- 42:15Speaker 4: I love Lomo.
- 42:17Speaker 1: When do they get around to retiring David Sampson's number?
- 42:20Speaker 4: What number would that be?
- 42:23Speaker 1: I think Sampson and Logan Morrison were very close. If
- 42:26Speaker 1: I had to guess, and I've never asked David Sampson this,
- 42:29Speaker 1: he made sure that president's number came down, and he
- 42:32Speaker 1: gave it to Logan Morrison.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Is what I said.
- 42:36Speaker 5: Probably Miguel Cabrera would be the next number retired by
- 42:40Speaker 5: the Marlins organization.
- 42:41Speaker 3: He was there for a year.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Gary Sheffield.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Ricardo's saying Gary Sheffield.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Sheffield's deserving.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Konai, maybe.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Mr.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Marlin.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Izzy, who was changing the NFL, and the NFL,
- 42:54Speaker 1: by the way, doing just fine.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Right.
- 42:56Speaker 1: But Izzy has now expanded to 40 teams in the NFL.
- 42:59Speaker 1: He wants more bad teams, more cupcakes for the good
- 43:02Speaker 1: teams to play.
- 43:02Speaker 3: You go to 50 if we need it.
- 43:03Speaker 1: That's very generous of you. But now he wants changes
- 43:08Speaker 1: to the officiating of the NFL.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Oh, man, Stu, this drove me crazy Sunday. I was
- 43:13Speaker 3: watching Bengals Ravens. And there was a roughing the passer
- 43:19Speaker 3: penalty that was called. And then the announcers came back
- 43:22Speaker 3: and said, well, wait a second, that might have been
- 43:24Speaker 3: his own guy who hit Joe Burrow. And then they
- 43:27Speaker 3: show the replay and it was just like, yeah, it
- 43:29Speaker 3: was his own guy who hit them. And then the
- 43:31Speaker 3: referee comes up and he says, hey, with a replay assist,
- 43:36Speaker 3: that is not a roughing the passer penalty. And I
- 43:40Speaker 3: feel like that just opened up a can of worms. Like,
- 43:43Speaker 3: can't can't you just do that for all penalties now?
- 43:46Speaker 3: Like all terrible calls.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Right.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Just let the replay assist overturn it because you can
- 43:52Speaker 3: do it in a heartbeat. beat you can do it quickly.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Well all questionable calls not bad calls you don't know
- 43:57Speaker 1: if they're bad right you know i mean sometimes you
- 43:59Speaker 1: know it's a bad call uh in the moment but
- 44:02Speaker 1: questionable calls you're saying because there are many times as
- 44:05Speaker 1: fans you're sitting there going what is my guy supposed
- 44:08Speaker 1: to do how is he supposed to pull up he's
- 44:10Speaker 1: already in the motion of going after the quarterback the
- 44:13Speaker 1: quarterback releases the ball does so quickly how is he
- 44:17Speaker 1: supposed to pull up and stop himself.
- 44:19Speaker 5: What can be replay assisted right now is the contact
- 44:23Speaker 5: to the head and neck area. If they go to
- 44:25Speaker 5: replay and they see there was no contact at all,
- 44:28Speaker 5: then you could pick up the flag. And it's the
- 44:30Speaker 5: same thing with a face mask. If they throw a
- 44:32Speaker 5: flag for face mask and they see that the face
- 44:35Speaker 5: mask was never pulled, then they could pick that up.
- 44:37Speaker 5: But neither of these is his point. It's a very
- 44:41Speaker 5: slippery slope what you're using replay assist for.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:43Speaker 3: I mean, it's just, but the other issue is why not?
- 44:47Speaker 3: Like why? There's so many of those where you're just like,
- 44:50Speaker 3: that was a terrible call or that was a questionable call.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I'm not sure the different, what you're making different there,
- 44:55Speaker 3: by the way.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Well, a questionable call. You don't know if it's a
- 44:57Speaker 1: bad call until you go to the booth. He might
- 44:59Speaker 1: actually get it right. That's all I'm saying.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 45:02Speaker 1: What if they go to replay and he's like, yeah,
- 45:04Speaker 1: it was a late hit on the quarterback.
- 45:05Speaker 6: Right.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Well, you can do that. See, that's the other thing.
- 45:08Speaker 3: It's just like, hey, if they miss a call, can
- 45:10Speaker 3: you then throw the flag with a replay review?
- 45:14Speaker 1: You missed an obvious call.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 3: So when I saw that, it was just shocking to
- 45:18Speaker 3: me because, like, Even the Cam Scadaboo one. Imagine if
- 45:21Speaker 3: you just to be like, yeah, upon review, that definitely
- 45:23Speaker 3: wasn't whatever they call that unnecessary roughness or one of
- 45:27Speaker 3: those Green Bay Packers penalties where it's just like everybody
- 45:30Speaker 3: in the stadium can see that was a bad call. Like,
- 45:32Speaker 3: it's OK to say the referee got this one wrong.
- 45:36Speaker 3: I mean, it's the same thing as challenges, is it not?
- 45:38Speaker 3: It's just if you can on on the spot because
- 45:42Speaker 3: there's so much downtime between plays. There's so much, you know,
- 45:45Speaker 3: there's only what is there somewhere between seven and 11
- 45:48Speaker 3: minutes of actual action in football. Like if you can
- 45:51Speaker 3: use that time without disrupting the game to say, hey,
- 45:53Speaker 3: our bad, that was not the right call. We're just
- 45:56Speaker 3: going to go ahead and keep playing. Why not do that?
- 45:58Speaker 3: Because I'm telling you, I was I was stunned watching
- 46:02Speaker 3: that that overturn. I didn't know that they were allowed
- 46:05Speaker 3: to do that.
- 46:05Speaker 1: So I can hear fans saying we spend enough time
- 46:07Speaker 1: at the replay booth, less time. But that's my whole point.
- 46:11Speaker 1: It's there is no replay booth. There is no time
- 46:13Speaker 1: under the hood. There's none of that.
- 46:14Speaker 3: It's just like, oh, that was awful.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Our bad.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Let's keep playing.
- 46:18Speaker 1: So how would you announce this? Is it like a
- 46:20Speaker 1: voice of God just like telling everyone, telling the referee, hey,
- 46:23Speaker 1: you missed one or hey, you got that wrong?
- 46:25Speaker 3: Like, how does this work? It's the same way they
- 46:27Speaker 3: just did it this this game between the Bengals and Ravens.
- 46:29Speaker 3: It was just before they started the next play. It
- 46:31Speaker 3: is like after replay assist. That was not a roughing
- 46:34Speaker 3: the passer penalty. spot the ball back where it was
- 46:37Speaker 3: supposed to be.
- 46:38Speaker 5: So I have two moments from this weekend that involved
- 46:41Speaker 5: referees in the NFL, and I want you guys to
- 46:43Speaker 5: pick which one would be your winner. The first nominee
- 46:47Speaker 5: in the Packers-Lions game, I don't know if you guys
- 46:49Speaker 5: saw this, but the ref fell down, went to throw
- 46:52Speaker 5: the flag, and just threw it. He's lying horizontally on
- 46:56Speaker 5: the field, and he just throws the flag up, which
- 46:59Speaker 5: was an all-time flag throw by a referee. And then
- 47:02Speaker 5: the other moment I have involving a referee was in
- 47:04Speaker 5: the Giants-Texans game, where the referee went to call a
- 47:09Speaker 5: penalty on the Houston Texans, and he accidentally said before
- 47:12Speaker 5: calling the penalty, Unfortunately.
- 47:16Speaker 3: You can't say that. The first one you mentioned, that
- 47:18Speaker 3: referee also got hit in the junk. And I also
- 47:21Speaker 3: have a new standing rule. If an official at any
- 47:23Speaker 3: point gets hit in the junk, there's got to be
- 47:25Speaker 3: a penalty on somebody.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 47:26Speaker 3: I mean, there should be no contact there for an official.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Wait, so this poor referee who's on the ground after
- 47:31Speaker 1: getting hit in the junk, he just threw the flag?
- 47:33Speaker 1: Because I understand it. When you get hit there, you'll
- 47:35Speaker 1: throw anything. It hurts that badly. But he just threw
- 47:37Speaker 1: the flag just to throw a flag? I mean... Yeah.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Was there an actual penalty?
- 47:42Speaker 3: I believe he thought there was a penalty there. I
- 47:43Speaker 3: don't think there was one. That's another one with, Hey,
- 47:45Speaker 3: after replay assist.
- 47:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:46Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I know it hurts, but you're going to
- 47:48Speaker 3: have to take that flag back.
- 47:49Speaker 1: 15 yards for kicking me in the junk.
- 47:51Speaker 3: I don't know if you saw the one good play
- 47:53Speaker 3: from the Miami heat this entire season where Giannis dunked
- 47:55Speaker 3: all over. I think it was Daniel Gafford from the
- 47:58Speaker 3: Dallas Mavericks and making matters worse is he also caught
- 48:01Speaker 3: a knee straight to the the parts there. Yes. I
- 48:04Speaker 3: think it took them out of the game. It was
- 48:06Speaker 3: that painful. Wait, so Taylor, do you like this idea?
- 48:08Speaker 1: I do like the idea of you completely missed a
- 48:10Speaker 1: call and there's a different colored flag for that. The
- 48:14Speaker 1: referee is challenging. There wasn't a call made. He is
- 48:18Speaker 1: just saying you missed a call. There was a hole.
- 48:20Speaker 1: There was PI over there and you could do it
- 48:22Speaker 1: that way. But you're saying just have one voice come down,
- 48:25Speaker 1: tell the referee quickly, Hey, you missed this or Hey,
- 48:28Speaker 1: you got this wrong. But then the referee has to,
- 48:31Speaker 1: it's such a bad spot for the referee. Cause he
- 48:33Speaker 1: then has to announce it to the entire crowd.
- 48:35Speaker 3: They do it in college.
- 48:36Speaker 4: Right.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:37Speaker 5: But that's, that's why NFL doesn't want the like pass
- 48:40Speaker 5: interference to be reviewable. Like it was that one season
- 48:43Speaker 5: because the refs got all in their feelings. when we
- 48:45Speaker 5: started questioning their calls where I, when I watch an
- 48:48Speaker 5: NFL game, I do not understand how you could have
- 48:51Speaker 5: like a 60 yard penalty with, with pass interference being
- 48:55Speaker 5: a spot foul play and how big of a field
- 48:58Speaker 5: position penalty that could be.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:00Speaker 5: To not have that be revealed.
- 49:01Speaker 3: First of all, referees get over yourselves. Like it's happened
- 49:04Speaker 3: in the NBA. Like when they initially had reviews, a
- 49:08Speaker 3: lot of people suggested that F referees would not overturn
- 49:11Speaker 3: them because they felt like it was a, you know,
- 49:13Speaker 3: a knock to their ego or whatever. Now they're overturning
- 49:16Speaker 3: calls all the time. The refs don't care. It's like,
- 49:18Speaker 3: I missed that one. All right, I'll get 95% of
- 49:21Speaker 3: my calls right. I'll just get a few wrong like
- 49:23Speaker 3: everybody else would have.
- 49:24Speaker 1: I think the refs have come around to, hey, we
- 49:25Speaker 1: just have to make a call and then we'll figure
- 49:27Speaker 1: it out from there. Yeah.
- 49:28Speaker 4: Right?
- 49:28Speaker 3: I do think it's interesting, too. I do think that
- 49:30Speaker 3: spot fouls for pass interference, Taylor, is way too penalizing.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Oh, no, I hate it. I mean, it drives me crazy.
- 49:36Speaker 1: College has it right. It's 15 yards for P.I., right?
- 49:38Speaker 3: There's no guarantee that catch is made just because you
- 49:42Speaker 3: interfered with them.
- 49:42Speaker 1: You chuck a ball up in the end zone, the
- 49:44Speaker 1: wide receiver gets interfered with, and they get it at
- 49:46Speaker 1: the one-yard line. You were on the 40 when you
- 49:49Speaker 1: started the play.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Imagine if this was in college where you can, as
- 49:54Speaker 3: I said, overturn a penalty on instant replay review. Imagine
- 49:58Speaker 3: that Florida State-Miami game where that holding call, they come
- 50:01Speaker 3: out and they just say, upon replay review, that was
- 50:04Speaker 3: not a hold. touchdown.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Good.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Now you got to go for two to try to
- 50:08Speaker 3: tie the game. Like that, that would solve all the
- 50:11Speaker 3: issues with, Oh, that was one of the worst calls
- 50:13Speaker 3: I've ever seen in a big spot. Go ahead and
- 50:16Speaker 3: just get it right. Because I mean, you're going to
- 50:18Speaker 3: have to find me the right angle that shows me
- 50:20Speaker 3: that that was a, an obvious hold.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I mean, BYU would have two losses already.
- 50:25Speaker 4: They got robbed.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Against Notre Dame 877 99 on Fox.
- 50:29Speaker 3: Let's go out to a Davey who's in Virginia today.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Davey, go ahead.
- 50:32Speaker 3: You're on Fox sports radio.
- 50:35Speaker 8: Yes, I would like to go back to the retired numbers.
- 50:41Speaker 8: Why would they have Paul O'Neal as a retired number
- 50:46Speaker 8: for the J-Mac? He would know that.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you're just trying to piss Taylor off, aren't you, Davey?
- 50:56Speaker 4: Yankee legend, no?
- 50:57Speaker 5: Yeah, the warrior.
- 51:00Speaker 8: He was a real Yankee legend because he could smash
- 51:02Speaker 8: up a cooler like crazy.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Thank you for the call, Davey. How do you feel
- 51:08Speaker 3: about that, Taylor?
- 51:09Speaker 5: So this is actually a situation where I'm actually on
- 51:13Speaker 5: his side where I think the Yankees retire too many
- 51:15Speaker 5: numbers where you have somebody like George Lombard coming up
- 51:18Speaker 5: having to wear 96 or Aaron Judge coming up having
- 51:20Speaker 5: to wear 99. If I'm the Yankees, there's just too many. Like,
- 51:25Speaker 5: I love Bernie Williams.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 51:27Speaker 5: His number should not be retired. I love Jorge Posada.
- 51:30Speaker 1: His number should not be retired. These are legends.
- 51:33Speaker 4: Jorge Posada?
- 51:33Speaker 3: These are legends. They've had too many great players, is
- 51:36Speaker 3: what you're saying?
- 51:36Speaker 5: Too many great players. Let's have some standards. Derek Jeter,
- 51:40Speaker 5: Andy Pettit, Mariano Rivera. Those are the only guys from
- 51:42Speaker 5: those 90 teams that I would have retired.
- 51:44Speaker 3: I just looked up Paul O'Neill's stats and had a
- 51:45Speaker 3: longing for the past because he led the league one
- 51:47Speaker 3: time with a. 359 batting average, and I missed. 359
- 51:50Speaker 3: batting averages, man. I missed that so much. Major League
- 51:55Speaker 3: Baseball doesn't. Yeah. He also twice led the league and
- 51:58Speaker 3: get grounding into double plays, which that's fitting.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Wasn't the wasn't fleet of foot. Paul O'Neill. Paul O'Neill
- 52:06Speaker 1: was a great player. You know, Gary Sheffield. Won a
- 52:08Speaker 1: batting championship. He was he led the National League in
- 52:11Speaker 1: batting 330 one year. Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 1: You yearn for those days.
- 52:14Speaker 3: I mean, anything in the mid threes, please.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 52:16Speaker 4: For a season, please.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Is there anyone else clamoring for more Tony Gwynn's and
- 52:23Speaker 1: Wade Boggs is in Major League Baseball?
- 52:26Speaker 3: The Milwaukee Brewers. That's how they do.
- 52:29Speaker 4: I think I don't really know.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Thanks for Israel Gutierrez for sitting in today, working more.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Weekends are shorter and shorter, and I am thrilled about it.
- 52:39Speaker 4: Two-day work weeks are fun.
- 52:41Speaker 1: They are. What do you have for us here on
- 52:43Speaker 1: the WNBA Finals? I'd be lying to you if I
- 52:45Speaker 1: said I was paying attention.
- 52:47Speaker 3: I am not paying attention. Because we had a sports equinox.
- 52:50Speaker 3: You know, to me, it's just on second thought, maybe
- 52:54Speaker 3: it was okay to let 3,500 people be the amount
- 52:57Speaker 3: of people who watch this championship final or this game
- 53:00Speaker 3: six in Atlanta. Because it's like I told you before
- 53:03Speaker 3: the series started. It's like these are two defensive teams.
- 53:07Speaker 3: And when everything is at stake, they're going to play
- 53:09Speaker 3: defense even better. And offense is going to be even worse. And, Stu,
- 53:12Speaker 3: a team yesterday ended up shooting 29%. uh, for the
- 53:17Speaker 3: entire game.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Wow.
- 53:18Speaker 3: And it's just, it's not the, there was somebody who
- 53:20Speaker 3: was getting MVP chance and she finished the game with
- 53:23Speaker 3: 13 points.
- 53:24Speaker 4: It hasn't been again.
- 53:27Speaker 3: For four of 17 shooting for a great WNBA season.
- 53:31Speaker 3: This is probably not the finale that they wanted.
- 53:35Speaker 5: Izzy, I felt bad because they moved the game on
- 53:37Speaker 5: Thursday to 1230 because.
- 53:39Speaker 3: 1230 Eastern. So you got to wake up early. You
- 53:42Speaker 3: got to take your morning off on the West Coast
- 53:44Speaker 3: to watch this game if you're a Valkyries fan.
- 53:47Speaker 5: But where I felt bad is the Hawks are playing
- 53:50Speaker 5: later in the day and they have to turn the
- 53:52Speaker 5: stadium over. They have to clean the arena, all the
- 53:54Speaker 5: workers there.
- 53:55Speaker 4: Job creation.
- 53:56Speaker 5: And I was watching ESPN and Ramona Shelburne said that
- 54:00Speaker 5: The team that wins, so if the series is over tomorrow,
- 54:04Speaker 5: the celebration may not actually be on the court. And
- 54:09Speaker 5: Ramona Shelburne has heard discussions about whether there's enough time
- 54:12Speaker 5: to turn the arena over in time for the fans
- 54:15Speaker 5: to celebrate on the court and that it could be
- 54:17Speaker 5: moved to a practice court.
- 54:18Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 54:19Speaker 3: They have to hold their celebration. They have to hold
- 54:22Speaker 3: their enthusiasm. Go up a few flights of steps and
- 54:25Speaker 3: then go celebrate somewhere else.
- 54:27Speaker 4: That's ridiculous.
- 54:27Speaker 1: I do like a court that is reserved just for celebrations, though.
- 54:30Speaker 1: A celebration court. Yeah.
- 54:32Speaker 4: I mean, that's not terrible.
- 54:34Speaker 3: I mean, that's basically what they do in the locker room, right?
- 54:36Speaker 3: They taste it with plastic and then you go ahead
- 54:39Speaker 3: and celebrate it there. But that is it's just such
- 54:41Speaker 3: a terrible way to end this. And it's just one
- 54:43Speaker 3: of those things where it's just like this is the
- 54:45Speaker 3: first that I've seen. And I looked it up, and
- 54:48Speaker 3: I don't think I've seen another season where the WNBA
- 54:51Speaker 3: finals and the NBA beginning of their season overlapped. Why
- 54:54Speaker 3: did they think that was a good idea this year?
- 54:57Speaker 3: They should never overlap. One should end, the other one
- 54:59Speaker 3: should begin.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Taylor, I want you to imagine the Knicks winning a
- 55:02Speaker 1: title at the Mecca this And someone from the NBA says, hey, guys,
- 55:07Speaker 1: we got to turn the arena over. Go to a
- 55:09Speaker 1: different go to Barclays down the street and go celebrate there.
- 55:14Speaker 1: I mean, this is totally unfair.
- 55:15Speaker 4: What are we doing?
- 55:16Speaker 5: It is unfair, but I'm thinking about it from my
- 55:19Speaker 5: perspective as a Knicks fan. If I waited 53 years
- 55:21Speaker 5: for a celebration. I could wait an hour drive from
- 55:25Speaker 5: Madison Square Garden to Barclays Center if you're telling me
- 55:27Speaker 5: that's where I have to do my celebrating.
- 55:29Speaker 1: I mean, you have that being an hour. The Knicks
- 55:31Speaker 1: have just won a title. Did you see the people
- 55:32Speaker 1: pouring out into the streets in New York City? It
- 55:35Speaker 1: would take you days to get to Barclays.
- 55:37Speaker 5: I was in that celebration. I thought I was going
- 55:39Speaker 5: to lose my life.
- 55:40Speaker 3: It's the craziest hold your applause I've ever seen in
- 55:42Speaker 3: my life.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Yes, but what happened to this splurge, this uptick with
- 55:47Speaker 1: women's basketball, Lizzie?
- 55:48Speaker 3: They're being totally disrespected.
- 55:50Speaker 1: I know the basketball's not great, but how about they
- 55:52Speaker 1: get to celebrate on the court they played on?
- 55:54Speaker 3: Again, it's just horrible planning. Like, how did they not
- 55:57Speaker 3: think that maybe this could happen where you've got a...
- 56:00Speaker 3: you know, a WNBA team. They play in the same
- 56:02Speaker 3: cities as the NBA teams. Might we have a housing problem?
- 56:06Speaker 5: Izzy, this feels like the perfect end to Kathy Engelbert's
- 56:09Speaker 5: tenure as WNBA commissioner, because I was listening to Bill
- 56:13Speaker 5: Simmons earlier, and Bill Simmons was making the point that
- 56:16Speaker 5: the WNBA feels like they had like 12 major decisions
- 56:20Speaker 5: to make this season. And somehow they went 0 for
- 56:22Speaker 5: 12 in these decisions where people want to like this league.
- 56:27Speaker 5: And the WNBA does everything in their power to kind
- 56:30Speaker 5: of push people away.
- 56:31Speaker 3: They just needed to do what Adam Silver does and
- 56:33Speaker 3: just check in with LeBron and whatever LeBron wants, they
- 56:36Speaker 3: should have done.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Taylor, what were you telling? You're so excited about our
- 56:41Speaker 1: guest today. We just had Matt Leinert on. Christopher Mad
- 56:45Speaker 1: Dog Russo was on the podcast, Stugatz and Company, the
- 56:47Speaker 1: show before the show. Why were you so excited? I
- 56:51Speaker 1: know you love the guys. I'm just, you were giddy today.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:53Speaker 5: So my introduction to college football was the U S
- 56:56Speaker 5: was the USC football teams. Like I fell in love
- 56:58Speaker 5: with that sport because I was watching Matt Leinart and
- 57:01Speaker 5: Reggie Bush in the early two thousands. So you told
- 57:04Speaker 5: me in like 2002 Taylor, who are the two guests
- 57:08Speaker 5: that you would want on, on your show 20 plus
- 57:11Speaker 5: years from now in the moment outside of a Yankee,
- 57:15Speaker 5: It would probably have been some combination of Matt Leinart
- 57:18Speaker 5: and Reggie Bush and then Christopher Mad Dog Russo because
- 57:21Speaker 5: Izzy in New York, like... In New York, in Florida,
- 57:25Speaker 5: in South Florida, you go outside and you play. In
- 57:28Speaker 5: New York, growing up in the early 2000s, you sat
- 57:31Speaker 5: in front of a radio and you listened to Mike.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Early 2000s, you're making it sound like it's the 1960s
- 57:36Speaker 3: over here with the radio.
- 57:38Speaker 5: Turn on the AM 880.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Yes, you have to hear the static.
- 57:41Speaker 1: You have to listen to them on the AM dial.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Taylor is right about this.
- 57:44Speaker 7: Yes.
- 57:46Speaker 3: That does remind me of, yeah, that was like me
- 57:48Speaker 3: in the backseat of my dad in the car, and
- 57:50Speaker 3: it's just AM Spanish radio, and it's crackling. It's just like,
- 57:52Speaker 3: how can you listen to this? And fast forward 20 years,
- 57:54Speaker 3: and I'm listening to it all the time.
- 57:55Speaker 1: All right, so you're saying 20 years ago. Not today.
- 57:58Speaker 1: You were excited just to have them today. But if
- 58:00Speaker 1: I told you 20 years ago you were going to
- 58:01Speaker 1: have Mad Dog and Matt Leinart on the show, you
- 58:04Speaker 1: would have been thrilled. That's like a dream show for you.
- 58:06Speaker 5: A dream show. So, Izzy, every day when I would
- 58:09Speaker 5: get off the bus in elementary school, my grandparents would
- 58:12Speaker 5: watch me. and my grandpa would always be listening to
- 58:15Speaker 5: Mike and the Mad Dog. They were on from like
- 58:17Speaker 5: 1 to 6 p.m., if I remember.
- 58:19Speaker 1: 1 to 6.30.
- 58:19Speaker 6: Every day for five and a half hours?
- 58:23Speaker 1: Yes, yes, and it wasn't enough.
- 58:25Speaker 5: Well, the call lines were the biggest thing. They were
- 58:28Speaker 5: just taking calls the entire time, and it used to
- 58:31Speaker 5: lead right into Yankees' pregame show when they made the
- 58:33Speaker 5: transition to the YES Network. But I would get off
- 58:36Speaker 5: that bus every day, and my grandpa would be listening
- 58:39Speaker 5: to that station, and he would say... don't even think
- 58:42Speaker 5: about talking to me until they go to commercial break.
- 58:45Speaker 5: So that's where my sports radio love came into effect,
- 58:48Speaker 5: where I would listen to Mike and the Mad Dog
- 58:50Speaker 5: and be like, man, once they go to commercial, I
- 58:53Speaker 5: have to be ready to talk about sports.
- 58:55Speaker 1: My dad would drive. We would drive. He would pick
- 58:57Speaker 1: me up. He would say the same thing. Don't talk
- 58:59Speaker 1: until they're at commercial break. And even then, don't talk.
- 59:02Speaker 1: But we would drive around. We would drive around my neighborhood, Izzy,
- 59:07Speaker 1: just to listen to another segment.
- 59:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Take the long way home.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Really?
- 59:12Speaker 4: Yes. Yes, we would.
- 59:13Speaker 3: That's why I got into the industry. I mean, because
- 59:15Speaker 3: of those two. That's probably why you're still doing it.
- 59:17Speaker 5: It's crazy that... like Stu gots has the same experience
- 59:20Speaker 5: as me and like, we're, we're a pretty big age, uh,
- 59:24Speaker 5: an age gap where I remember Stu, like they would
- 59:27Speaker 5: go to commercial break and I would just have like
- 59:30Speaker 5: my school notebook of sports takes that I wanted to
- 59:32Speaker 5: give my grandpa. And it would be like, I think
- 59:34Speaker 5: the Yankees should trade for Ichiro.
- 59:38Speaker 1: And you would work him out on grandpa?
- 59:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I would practice the takes.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Poor grandpa. I'm trying to think of who my dream
- 59:44Speaker 3: guest would have been in like 2002, which is what
- 59:48Speaker 3: the year Taylor mentioned. And the only thing that comes
- 59:50Speaker 3: to mind is maybe Larry Bird or Andre Agassi. And
- 59:54Speaker 3: I don't even know if they're too specific, like were
- 59:56Speaker 3: great talkers back then. Well, I guess he's great.
- 59:58Speaker 4: Was he?
- 59:59Speaker 1: Okay. Yes.
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: Well, I know he is now.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I couldn't remember. I'm just saying we had him on
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: the show. He was promoting his book. His book was great,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: but he was also great on the radio.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Yeah. And then the only reason I think of Larry
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Bird is just because like, that's the first game I
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: can remember, you know, watching was an NBA finals game.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: I want to say in like 1986.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: And it was Bird versus Magic. But I felt like
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: there was more intrigue to Bird because he didn't really
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: talk as much as, you know, Magic did.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: So.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: That would probably be my answer, but it would probably
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: have been a terrible interview.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: What was happening in Miami around early 2000s? You had
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: the Marlins winning a series in 2003. You had the Heat, right?
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: I mean, no, the Heat were bad.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: It was right before 2000. It was right before Dwayne
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: got here, so it was during the era where, oh no,
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Alonzo Mourning has a kidney ailment, and what are we
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: going to do with the franchise? And then Dwayne shows
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: up in 2003 and fixes everything. Was that the second.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Run for the Canes, though, in that time?
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: I believe so.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: I was less interested in that because I had just
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: graduated from Florida, so the Canes were not my favorite.
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: 2002 was Ron Zook's first year in Gainesville.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Ah, the Zooker.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: So maybe Steve Spurrier would have been my dream guest
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: because he's great for a great coach.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Didn't Zook get in a fight with an entire frat house?
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: That's right. Yeah, once Spurrier left, it all went downhill. Taylor,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: you wouldn't take Jeter, huh? That's interesting.
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: No, Jeter would probably be, like, Jeter's the white whale always.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: You got to consider, he doesn't say anything, though. Like,
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: still hasn't said anything.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: It doesn't matter.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I would take, if it was 2003 after the Marlins
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: won the series, I would go Josh Beckett, probably.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: From that team?
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Josh Beckett, I think.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: And then... Mike and the Mad Dog. You have to
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: take Francesca, not just Chris. You would want Chris and Mike, no?
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: Yes, but me personally, I've always been more of a
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: Mad Dog guy.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: Just because they're both great, but there's something about Mad
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: Dog's voice.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: Where it puts you in a trance.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: It does.
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: Well, the cadences work so well together.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Together, yes. Yeah, they do.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: God, do we sound like dorks.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Sorry, everyone. Have a great night.
