Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_05]: And we're on.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_05]: This is Three Yards Perkara.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_05]: I'm afraid to already take a salmon.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_05]: Clancy is here.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_05]: Chris Kaufman is here.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_05]: We have the full cast on what is a moment to stay.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_05]: Is it a new direction or somewhere where we thought we were going anyway?
- 0:33[SPEAKER_05]: Because it's pretty popular right now on Twitter and let's just get into it right away.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_05]: I do not think we're going to break down Josh Uche on on this podcast or two to out.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_05]: Well, they'll be time to talk about those guys.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to talk about general water like exclusively and what it means for the draft in the second half of the show.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_05]: The first half, we're just going to talk about this trade.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_05]: Simon, what does it mean for this because I don't think that what is the popular narrative right now on Twitter is correct.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_05]: Everybody's screaming tank tank tank tank tank tank.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_05]: If it were tank tank tank tank tank tank, I think they were taking the entire capit or as much as they could have of two on the first year and maybe they were not signed Malik Willis and they wouldn't be doing all the
- 1:17[SPEAKER_05]: the maneuvering they've been doing in free agencies so far.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_05]: What is your thoughts on this jailing war on trade?
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: Well, as it pertains to the work tank, first of all, I still think it can be a tank, but everybody just thinks you're tanking for a quarterback, right?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: What if they already have, I think the trade was a,
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: What's the right word, moratorium, but essentially a signal that they believe in it and really cool this.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: And I didn't think at the time and I thought about it and actually thought because my initial thought was, wow, you know, how are you going to fairly judge this quarterback to whom you've essentially is a clear contract, but you know, you get out a bit after two.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: that you've essentially asset stripping him.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: How can you judge him before the 20, 20, 20, 20, some draft, right?
- 2:09[SPEAKER_03]: Before art's banning, then our sellers don't say more, men's sorts, be men's, you know, all these time of level, all these kids, right?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_03]: How can you possibly do that?
- 2:18[SPEAKER_03]: How is it fair or willous?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_03]: How is it from Delphix?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_03]: And then I thought, actually, what if they've already made this?
- 2:23[SPEAKER_03]: What if they've already made their evaluation?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_03]: Their evaluation has 2024, 2025, right?
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: In practice on the scout team, every single day, seeing him, seeing him, seeing him, seeing him, seeing him.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_03]: They have had the absolute perfect front seat inside.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: When Malik will have said that every time he saw John Erick Sullivan in the corridor, he'd stop him and say, you know, how do you think I'm doing?
- 2:42[SPEAKER_03]: And Sullivan would literally give him a time and a breakdown and how he thought he was doing.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: So Sullivan clearly knew as well, reviewing all the film and that's what started.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_03]: What if their evaluation of a league will happen not in 2026, but it is 2024 and 2025.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_03]: I've actually what they're doing is that they're managing the decline and tanking in inverted commas, but they're not tanking for a court bag.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: They're tanking to put themselves in the very press position to be able to, let's say they end up with the first big, but let's say I end it in that with a second big and go back and needy teams want to move up.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: They're in an amazing position then to take an absolute bounty of picks, of players, of whatever,
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to move up for Corbats because it's the most important position in sports.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think that Sullivan believes that he has the good, the other thing that strikes me, just to change the tax line is that he has been completely three for three on what he said at the press conference when he first joined the team.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_03]: The first thing was, we are going to get the Corbats first and then we're going to build around it.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to build a team and then find the Corbats.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_03]: What do they do?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_03]: They went out and got Malik with his straight away.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_03]: was essentially nobody's off the table and we want draft picks.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we want as many draft picks as we can possibly get.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_03]: What are they done?
- 3:54[SPEAKER_03]: They traded away.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_03]: Mingi fits patchy, got a draft pick, they traded away, drain them all or they got a draft pick.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: And the third thing is it hasn't happened yet, but he made it very, very clear and then half the made it very, very clear.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_03]: We are going to build from the inside out.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_03]: That's meaning offensive and defensive lines.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_03]: It does not mean Maxwell delaying, it does not mean Jordan Tyson.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly not 11 anyway.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_03]: to me, it means we're going to take the best of a little offensive line of whether it's Malnoa, whether it's Spencer Fedor, whether it's they go up, Yuanay.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_03]: whoever is at 11 and then whether you know who knows 30 whether or not it's Blake Miller to play right tackle or guard whether it's You know Max I need sure You know to come in and be a right tackle whether it's a you know Kildrick folk whether it's Zion young whether it's you know I think that's what they will do and why wouldn't it be that because that's what he told us he was gonna do and he stopped what he was gonna do Chris
- 4:48[SPEAKER_03]: He said he was going to get the court back first and he did it and he said he wasn't he wanted to build through the draft and he's getting draft picks and that to me I think it's a fair trade.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think the dolphins got a good price for player that they were clearly willing to get rid of at the back end of the year when they turned down the trade from Buffalo.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad they didn't trade in the division.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's a 27-year-old receiver, he's only missed five games, but he's had some of the soft tissue injuries that started down, there's been some drops, and I think that he was a good receiver for the dolphins.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he was a great receiver, and I think we got a decent price, and we rebuild, and they're clearly putting themselves Christmas situation where it's terrible
- 5:33[SPEAKER_03]: They've got the comfort of and owner that knows what the the direction of travel is.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: Troy eight wins.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_03]: He knows the direction of travel because that's what they said.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_03]: And Sullivan has been completely true to his word from day dot and we're seeing it playing in front of our eyes.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: And if on April the 23rd or 24th, whenever the first night is,
- 5:50[SPEAKER_03]: And we pick Vangirwani, Vangirwani at 11.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_03]: He will be three for three in terms of things that he said that he prophesies in that press conference Chris.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that he must be applauded for that.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, one last thing on that.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_05]: He also, maybe he's a poor polka player, but he also made named four players at his introductory press conference.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_05]: And none of those four players were Jaila Waddle.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_05]: And then they said, it was H&Brewer.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_05]: It was H&Brewer, Paul and Brooks, which is good news for those four guys.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_05]: I guess.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, sat down with the team with the team, social team and Travis, the interview with him.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: He had to be reminded that what it was that,
- 6:35[SPEAKER_03]: big day.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's going on very upset all those things, but Chris, you know, sometimes the answers right in front of my nose.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_04]: I think you just got to listen to them.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_04]: I think you nailed it on the head.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like he said it.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_04]: He'd laid it all out there.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_04]: quarterback comes first.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_04]: He always said that like, you know, and then he said that, yes, we need to build from the inside out.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_04]: He said that we're not big players in free agency.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_04]: We only use free agency to find different makers.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_04]: And he said that, you know, we'll utilize free agency, you know, more when we get a chance.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_04]: And when when we get our salary cap in order.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_04]: And, and I think that what you've seen this year is just a bunch of.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_04]: a train of veteran minimum type signings, which is predictable, but if you're listening to the guy, then that's why it's predictable.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, he is running through exactly the plan that he said he was going to run through.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_04]: And I was warned about this earlier in the off season, you know, after the GM had been hired after the coach had been hired, basically, you know, waddles not off the table, no, they're not active sellers here, but if they get the same offer that they got last year at the trade deadline, get ready.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_04]: That could happen, you know, and I, I warned our discord people about it a long, a month ago.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_04]: because that's that's where this was possibly had it.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that they got a pretty good deal for Jalen model overall.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_04]: There's a little bit of dispute because what Jeremy Fowler said earlier today does contradict with what the Spotrack people are saying right now.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_04]: The Spotrack people are saying that
- 8:28[SPEAKER_04]: The Denver Broncos are paying all $17.2 million of the cash owed to jail and water for this year.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm talking on a cash level, that includes option bonus, that includes salary, that includes roster bonus and work out bonuses, et cetera.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_03]: which would be an amazing deal for the dolphins.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_04]: Which would be an amazing deal, absolutely amazing, first and third for that is an amazing deal.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_04]: Jeremy Fowler suggested earlier actually that the Denver Broncos are only paying about 5 million of the cash owed to jail and water this year.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_04]: Which would mean that Miami covered about 12 million of it.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: which is less than an amazing deal, but I think of it as basically.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_04]: They got offered a first round pick for Jalen Water last year, a late first course because it was the Buffalo Bills.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_04]: And of course, the Buffalo Bills had done that last year.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_04]: They would have ended up paying all of the 17 million this year.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, so the delta between that offer and this one would be the third round pick and us paying $12 million there for we got a first round pick for jail and water and we also got a third round pick for the $12 million of cap credit that we get handed the Denver Broncos.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_04]: If Jeremy Fowler is right, but the Spotrack people are saying they're they're pretty adamant on this.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_04]: They're saying that the Denver Broncos are paying all $17 million, which would be again a phenomenal deal for the Miami Dolphins.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I think there's a couple of angles to look at it.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_04]: And one, the number 11 pick is now, uh, free to actually use, um, because before I'm not sure that it was, uh, the, uh, you know, John Eric Sullivan, again, listen to the man, listen to what he says, uh, when he was asked questions like, are they going to send a draft pick to, uh, to get somebody to cover some of who is costs.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_04]: He said he said straight up.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_04]: He's like, I only have eight draft picks this year.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_04]: And I got to figure out a way to make that 10 or 11 draft picks.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_04]: What did he just do, you know, and, and so, um, so they are not a team that's going to send a draft pick for set of for salary cap relief, actually the opposite.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_04]: They might give somebody else salary cap relief in order to get a draft pick.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's how important it is to them.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want to go up and say just if we go on just on that?
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: Just so it's in touch.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_03]: But is that?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder whether or not the extra picks put some in a position where if a player they love bulls say to candethy at nine, let's say Caleb doubt or you know somebody they fall in love with styles, bay, whoever to get in front of the bengals for example who might be looking for a similar help.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like if, you know, if arguably, in my opinion, the best player in the jar of Caleb Downs falls to nine, and the chief's declined to take him, it puts them in a position where they could say, and I know he wants to pick.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_04]: But you never you never truly know that's true and they have that they have that flexibility now So they turn their eight picks into 10 or 11 picks just like they just like they said they would But I think that that possibility the the possibility of using the number 11 pick On a player was not as strong as a lot of people were saying or a lot of us You know, we we love to talk about like Ruben Bay and are we gonna get a Francis money?
- 11:50[SPEAKER_04]: We're kind of low that we're actually using that bit that trade down was option number one and there were probably going to be motivated sellers on that trade down.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_04]: now they can actually use the pick on a premium player.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_04]: And now they have the number 30 pick from which you pointed out Simon could be a landing spot for Tyson.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_04]: Not for the Miami Dolphins, but for somebody else, like the Arizona Cardinals who would want to trade into the first round to get that fifth year option for Tyson.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that there's, and then the other angle
- 12:25[SPEAKER_04]: And when you have jail in water and he's a small guy and you're also promising to get bigger in the room, which John Eric Sullivan said, trust him, he says, he says what he's going to do, he wants to get bigger in the wide receiver room.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that kind of limits you in the draft Simon, you know, I know you've looked at all of the wide receivers in this draft by now, but you're basically cutting off half of them and saying, well, I can only get the bigger guys.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_04]: because we can't put together KC consumption with Jalen Wattle, with Malik Washington, when we just said we're going to get bigger in that room, right?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_04]: So now you're clearing the decks a little bit and now you can say, well, no, we can get KC consumption, we can get Omar Cooper,
- 13:12[SPEAKER_04]: we can get Mackay lemon and still get bigger in that room because of what else we do at the wide receiver position.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_04]: Like that, still a possibility.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_04]: So you've cleared the decks.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_04]: You've opened up the draft.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_04]: You've made it so that you can use the number 30 pick to possibly create a landing spot for some team for Tyson's.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_04]: And in the meantime, you've
- 13:37[SPEAKER_04]: taking out unfortunately there's there is an unfortunate thing to this and that is that jail and walls look good player and a really good locker room personality and a really good teammate and a really good Miami dolphin.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I love to hear that, right?
- 13:51[SPEAKER_03]: Because of the facility and say goodbye to all the staff and all the NASA and that they're you know, yeah, you can't stand on people.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's the thing I know.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_04]: But he is going to be 28 years old this year in this season, right?
- 14:04[SPEAKER_04]: And if this is this is a rebuild and if you're pretty much thinking that you might not be able to compete until 2027 or 2028, you're talking about a 29 and 30 year old.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_04]: very, very highly paid player and just the timelines might not match.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_04]: Now, the thing that people are conceived confused about with Malik Willis is they have to get out of their heads that this is a bridge quarterback.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_04]: This is not a bridge quarterback.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_04]: As you were saying, they've evaluated the guy for two years.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_04]: They think this is a potential franchise quarterback.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_04]: And I have likened him to taking a guy in the first round of the draft.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_04]: This is instead of using a draft asset for the guy, they used cap assets for the guy.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_04]: Well, guess what?
- 14:48[SPEAKER_04]: They have cap assets.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, not this year.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_04]: There's an accounting crunch in 2026, but afterwards they don't have enough payroll.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_04]: They have way more than they know what to do with as far as Captain Caparm goes.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_04]: So they use Cap Assets to get milk wills in the town and I do think they're going to continue the evaluation because practice is one thing and 150 snaps of regular season is another and 150's not quite enough to really make that full evaluation in my opinion.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_04]: but I do think that you can evaluate the quarterback without him having to, you know,
- 15:27[SPEAKER_04]: It's not as if there can't be a good evaluation of a player unless everybody else is awesome with that player, right?
- 15:36[SPEAKER_04]: You can evaluate the player.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_04]: We have to do it all the time and college football and looking at these players.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that they'll continue to evaluation with the Belique Willis, but they'll evaluate Malique Willis, not the stats.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_04]: The fans evaluate the stats.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_04]: The coaches and the scouts and the people in that front office evaluate the tape.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_04]: and the tape is where you can evaluate Malik Willis and not his teammates.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_04]: So I think they'll continue to evaluate him and he will have a chance to impress them and say, down the road, just like you said, we can take a ransom for that pick because somebody wants the Norse sellers.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_04]: You know, somebody wants somebody wants Dante more.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_04]: You know, so I think that you can get you turn that into three first round picks and you continue this build at a just an absolute blistering pace just terms of assets.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just looking at the Denver Post to a report on the story as it pertains to who pays what.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_03]: And this is part of Waldo's value is that he's under contact through 2021 after he signed a three-year contact extension with the dolphins in 2024.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_03]: Waldo has now 16.6 million in guaranteed money for this season, another 15.2 guaranteed for 2022.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: He Marched next year, an additional 8.2 for 2021 and 7 becomes guaranteed, practically speaking, then Waldo will cost them by 40 million guaranteed other next two seasons.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_03]: Water has an option bonus to March the 20th this year, which likely gives the Broncosan flexibility on how they want to account for his 2026 money on their salary cap.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: If the bonus is exercise and all of Water's salary is pro-rated to signing bonus, he will count just 4.9 million overdenters 2026 cap.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: Currently, his 2027 and 2028 salary cap numbers for the Broncos for the Broncos are 27 million and 29.4 million respectively.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: Denver though has plenty of time to work through how those numbers fit into their picture if they want to try and extend water again or restructure his deal to create some short term cap space.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_04]: To me that would be a rare miss for Jeremy Fowler then because he that is that is very much running contrary to what he said earlier today and that just makes the deal all the more fantastic for the Miami dolphins.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we're going to go to break, but before we do, let me take you on tankethon.com, they've moved Miami all the way up to number two in draft pick, value rankings, and they have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 top 100 picks.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_05]: This is going to be an exciting draft for the first time in a very, very long time and they're going to have every opportunity in that third round to do whatever they want within you those picks.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_05]: Well, having four third rompics.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_05]: So if there's a pet player for Jeff Haffley, he can take them.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_05]: There's a pet player for Bobby Slowick.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_05]: He can take them.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to have
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: How much do you think, I think the Cardinals are the worst team.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they've got the worst quarterback play and, you know, I think that's a pretty cool roster.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_04]: The way they've structured that quarterback position, especially is kind of like, that's the tell.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_03]: That's the tell.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_03]: If you're going into the season with Jacobie Brissett and Gardner, I mean, she was your guys.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_03]: That.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_05]: That's going to mean and Gardner and Gardner meant to might not be ready for training.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder how much, what they asked him price would be on
- 19:06[SPEAKER_03]: just saying.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_04]: That's a good question.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_04]: Um, you know, Miami doesn't seem like they're in the the creative of trading fix right now, two teams, but they just got a haul.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: There's no patino.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so they just got a haul, so maybe they're they're feeling like they have something to work with.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it brings back to the point that you already brought up with in the very wisely,
- 19:31[SPEAKER_04]: having brought in this extra bounty of picks, even though I know that John Erickson even wanted 10 or 11 draft picks in this draft.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_04]: It does listen if the right player is sitting right in front of them, you have that flexibility, it reflects ability, you have that optionality now, and I think that's pretty valuable.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_03]: Do we think before we go to Bright, do we think that's the last of it?
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: trade ones or no, I think.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_05]: Look, I'm sure I'm H. Yeah.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_05]: No, there's one more.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_05]: I think I'm in firm belief that they will retain brewer.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_05]: At least I'm trying to retain brewer.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_03]: Brooks and H. I think they're all in great court because of his relationship with my legalist intensity.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think now.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_05]: I do expect, I do expect, yeah, I do expect Zack Seeler to be on the way out.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_04]: That's a conversation.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_04]: It could be a conversation in June when there's a, if I'm not mistaken, I don't have the numbers in front of me.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_04]: There's a significant acceleration I think involved in, in Zack Seeler.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_04]: you can check me on that, but which brings, makes a tune of possibility, I guess.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, I think, I think yes, Zack Sealer is the most obvious.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_04]: The one guy that I don't think is truly going to get traded even though everybody brought him up immediately.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_04]: is demand agent.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_04]: And that's just because I don't think the offers are there.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_04]: I've never gotten the sense that the offers are there.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_04]: It's not that other people don't find invaluable.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_04]: It's that they're going to have a pretty high ask for him.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_04]: He's 24 years old.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_04]: And with what he's already accomplished in this Lee, I think they're going to ask, you know, just like Jalen Waterle more than first round pick, you know, we're talking first and third round picks.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_04]: If not first and second round picks, you know, that kind of thing.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: And I just don't get the sense that other teams.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, this is a very, this is a player that was very specialized.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_04]: Potentially very specialized to the Mike McDaniel offense.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that other teams are not necessarily going to, he's not as plug-and-play.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_04]: You can put a jail in water and just about any offense.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think the same is true of Devad H and and that's even just taking aside the fact that he's a running back and the running back position is, you know, is some, some teams value it, some teams don't.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_03]: Do one team I'd keep half an eye on with with HN is the CLC hopes.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's always nice.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I would also say it's about HN.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_05]: You controlled for another year past this year and you have two franchise tags in your back pocket to play with.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_05]: And on that first franchise tag, he would be very, very valuable as a trade asset where they franchise tag applied.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_04]: I do think they'll pay him though.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_04]: I honestly think they'll pay him.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_04]: I think they'll pay him.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_04]: I think they'll pay Aaron Burr.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_04]: And the, the Zack sealer point again, I think that's a fair point to bring up health that they might trade him, but again, I see that being a post-June thing if that were to develop because of the what seven million dollars of acceleration or something like that, that that would happen pre-June.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_05]: All right, last thing before we go right to break and this question is just for for Simon.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_05]: It all goes tits up and you're sitting there at, let's say number three, and somebody offers you a hall for whoever for, for, I don't know, dairy and men's a, so next year, yeah, and next year's draft, you take your passing on Jeremiah Smith for a hall.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: What, what would you say, what do you mean by to hit some?
- 23:30[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, for season.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_05]: They have the third overall pick.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_05]: They have an office for that.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like you've got to give me some sort of,
- 23:36[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, Malik Wallace is not awful, he's actually, you know, you could see it, you could see it, but he's not
- 23:45[SPEAKER_05]: Like, remember, it's going to be third, it's not going to be number one overall.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_05]: It's not archmaning.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_05]: You're not going to get the number one quarterbacks.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_05]: You're going to probably get the third quarterback in the class.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_05]: Are you passing in Jeremiah Smith?
- 23:57[SPEAKER_05]: Are you taking the hall for that pick?
- 23:59[SPEAKER_03]: Again, I need to know what the whole is.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_03]: The other thing about the callback story is that 2027, we keep talking about how good it is and sitting here right now, it does look amazing.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's going to be pretty special as well.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_03]: There's some serious goalbacks that are going to be in the pool.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_04]: Well, especially because these guys stay in.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_04]: So like even some of the guys that we're talking about for 2027, are they really going to be there in 20?
- 24:20[SPEAKER_04]: Is Archman and coming out in 2027?
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know that?
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't necessarily think it's an absolute slam dunk.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_03]: Alex, my name will come out in 2027.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_05]: All right, I'll give you, I'll give you scale.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_05]: So a team moves up from 10 to 3, 3 first round picks and a third.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, you take it.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_05]: Over Joe, my Smith, over Joe, my Smith.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_04]: I really personally, the only one that I'd would that I'd potentially refuse that sort of haul for is if you have a line of sight on a specific quarterback that you think is the best quarterback on that draft.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_04]: For getting that is the third overall pick.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_04]: And now you might be taking the third quarterback in the draft or something like that.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_04]: If the guy available is the guy that you think is the best quarterback in that draft,
- 25:07[SPEAKER_04]: and he just made it to you, you know, talking about like the bills with Josh Allen, like they, I believe they thought he was the best quarterback in that draft.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_04]: If you have a line of sight on who you think is the best quarterback in that draft, you can refuse that haul.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_04]: But for any other, any other player, any other position, I'm not sure you can.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_03]: What if Malik has a good year?
- 25:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know, not great, but good,
- 25:32[SPEAKER_03]: This is definitely potential-wise, but arch has an unbelievable season.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_03]: Comes out, wins the highest one, wins the national championship, looks incredible, and you get the first overall pitch.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_04]: you take archmaning and then you uh... focus on potentially trading milk willus and just because you take archmaning doesn't mean he's going to start right away because that's that's that's this that's the way the green bay is the green bay method to start these guys and we can we've seen it like they've they sit on a table with the children of why not
- 26:06[SPEAKER_04]: Sometimes they sit too long, right?
- 26:08[SPEAKER_04]: So how long could arch manning sit?
- 26:10[SPEAKER_04]: While Malik willus is out there.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_04]: And if Malik willus is out there, like, you know, breaking ankles and, you know, throwing raw epismosals everywhere, then then somebody's going to step up and want to trade for him because guess what?
- 26:21[SPEAKER_04]: You got him pretty well-cost controlled for three years, Simon.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_06]: Three years.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_04]: Three years.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_04]: Three years.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_04]: You've got him pretty well cost control.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_04]: That twenty-two and a half million.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_04]: And that means that if he does go out there and, you know, he's looking pretty good, then you have that choice.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_04]: And some people would say, well, you can make the wrong choice, which Minnesota did, right?
- 26:48[SPEAKER_04]: And so that's, you know, just be right.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_04]: You're going
- 26:54[SPEAKER_03]: It would be so Miami would knit to try out a week with this.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, the best caught back in the draft.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, these are that caught back in the past and the week with this to go on with a suit.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_05]: and the Hall of Fame.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_05]: By the way, we're going to write to break right now, but jailwater finishes 36 yards away from O.J.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_05]: McDuffie on the all-time receivers list for the Miami Dolphins and O.J.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_05]: was on Twitter saying, look, not that I want him, you know, want to him to leave, but I'm still fourth.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_05]: All right.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_05]: Underdog fantasy the the tournament is back and my Americans are in it on Friday.

- 27:52[SPEAKER_05]: And underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.

- 29:48[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_05]: So, yeah, if you can't stand any of us, you still doesn't get to talk to Kyle Krabs.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_05]: That's not awful, you know?
- 29:57[SPEAKER_05]: All right.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about this on Discord.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_05]: On our Discord only fins again.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_05]: But we talked a little bit about it at the top of this show and that's my concern as well.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_05]: I don't like my brand new shiny quarterback going out their naked on Sundays.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_05]: That's why I believe that and a trade of HM would be an absolute, you know, it would be at the horn in my opinion.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_05]: But there's still ways to give them some help, but you're committing some early draft assets of those seven in the top 100.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_05]: Three are coming directly from a leak willous help.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_05]: You would agree, right?
- 30:40[SPEAKER_05]: Simon?
- 30:42[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, skill position help or just help.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_05]: Skill position help.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_05]: Um, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 31:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I don't think they're going to take a receiver in round one, because John Eric Sullivan has taken one since he was a Green Bay.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's just not a Green Bay thing.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's never been a head-tompsom thing, it was never a wrong wall thing, it was never a fine good and can see.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_03]: They took Matthew Goldnars.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't great until the very end of the year.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and Goldnars only really showed up in the last week of the regular season and in the in the wild card round.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_05]: But he looked fabulous in that wildcard game.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't watch him at all for the whole season.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_04]: So I had no idea.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_04]: You think he was going to hear it?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_04]: I thought he was going to hear us.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, boy, what a first round pig that is.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's a great receiver class.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_03]: You know, go through it.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just doing the weights here while you guys are talking.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_03]: And we're chatting.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just doing putting the weights in there.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_03]: The size and the wage, you know, my favorite receiver in the draft is McIleman.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_03]: Dolphins are bringing him in for a 30 visit and people are like, ah, I mean, it's amazing what happens on the internet.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, he did the funny press conference where he's, you know, the guy's an absolute intro.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I tweeted that he was coming in for the 30 visit loads of people.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: No thanks.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_03]: Don't hate it in the interview.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, did you watch this get?
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: No, I haven't seen anything.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_03]: OK. No, yeah, he's red flag, terrible, apparently he's terrible guy.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like, completely opposite.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: 3-year team captain, complete team leader.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_04]: Like, die team captain.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_05]: free it in can't it guys you you too and Simon I know you're not you're not up on what the kids are watching on YouTube but my god the the thumbnails that they've made that draft twitter has made for Mokai lemon asking if he was on drugs and I'm just wrong with him.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_03]: This country but like you know go and look at the interview that he did with
- 33:02[SPEAKER_03]: NFL Network after his pro day.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: What a sweet kid.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like a really respectful, like really chatty.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe it was Jane Slater, I can't remember who it was, but like just really like really good interview.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, ma'am.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_03]: No, ma'am.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like we're shook at a done better today.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_03]: I'd like to run a little bit faster, blah, blah, blah, but I can't be, I'm just blessed to be here in the alley alley alley.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_03]: chat A like I mean people see one thing at a combine and then somebody somebody else says oh yeah it was terrible I spoke to two teams both of the UFC who sat in a room and they were like kids fine and kid was great like was he the best kid read to you know that was sunny styles well that was Caleb downs but you know he was a you know really good kid he's a kind of head down introvert he loves singing he's a golfer like he is I mean four years start or a vast
- 33:52[SPEAKER_03]: team cap multi-year team captain in high school like hold just teammates to account I was just coaches to account but in like the most respectful way ever like the guys and absolutely his parents don't believe he's ever watched the movie all the way through because he's so obsessed with football when he gets halfway through and he's just like I've got to just like think about football and stuff and lead his concentration.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, I mean, I love lemon, but, you know, you've got, you've got, I'll tell you, you've got Jordan Tyson.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think the dolphins are going to take a guy that's, you know, had back to back to back season and the injuries in Tyson, you know.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_03]: But that's just a good one.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: You are.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, of course you were.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: You could go right the way through.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, I'll keep a junior Malachi feel.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's Chris Brazil.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, again, I had the Chris Brazil thing today's like, don't go off to Tennessee, you see, but it's just like, well, like,
- 34:33[SPEAKER_03]: Scout the play and not the helmet, you know, it's kind of right.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I'm not a Denzel Boston fan, but this Denzel Boston is Jeremy Benard.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a big Jeremy Benard fan, you know, you've got Josh Cameron at Baylor is 61, 22, 20, Eric McAllister and TCU, big guy Sarat.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we saw we did with Mendoza, Indiana, Skyler Bell, your Chris Bell.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm not a Chris Bell fan, but yeah, you know, big guy, did you want dribbling, you know, Ted Hurst, the Georgia State Kid is nearly 6-4 to 06.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_03]: You got Trail Arts, his brother Bryce, he's, you know, ran out the building, jumped out the building at the con by 6-3-204, you know, there's a,
- 35:06[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Malik Benson, then you've got the smaller guys.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_03]: Concepts of your own, Antonio Williams, Dion Burke's, who's the other kid that's really the slot guy, who's a good example, right?
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know, and then even go down to the kind of day three's with the Colby Youngs and you're Dylan Bells with day two, maybe Kendrick Laws, you got the kid that rocked out from.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_03]: from John Carroll at the senior ball time of the government and it was actually electric at the senior ball, you know, you go all the way down, this really good receivers and Jeff Kohler was a kick in Caden, Caden, Whitt, Weijan, I don't forget the incredible return man, and don't forget and don't forget the milk, well, it's once you really, really to take to take a really long look at CG Daniels as he said in the first couple.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the same question.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's more to you know, he's like,
- 35:54[SPEAKER_05]: By the way, Simon, you agree with me, right?
- 35:57[SPEAKER_05]: Like, the comparison of my kind, lemon with, I'm unrasing brown, like, oh, it's baron, right?
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I mean, I've literally, I've got my draft book in front of me, and it says, the bullet, the cover, this is the opening.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_03]: The little cover for ordinary is one of my favorite plays in the draft.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_03]: As well-rounded by Parisians in 2026, he's an amon-rasing brown type who can kill you from the slot that shouldn't be marginalized to just what position.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yeah.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_03]: That's literally what he is.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_04]: Chris same question how do we help Malik Willis or shiny brand new quarterback this year not going forward but for this year take a page from the Chicago Bears you know what they did right away when they when when they hired their new coach to help out Caleb Williams.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_04]: They spent enormous amounts of resources on that offensive line and made sure that he was protected with Malik Willis and he's kind of a shorter guy, remember he's not even six one right when Malik Willis, you're going to happen I'll believe you brought this up and you and when we talked about Malik Willis.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to need, you're going to need some good, you're going to need some good guards to drop them on the interior, right?
- 37:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, like there's, there's one weakness that he does have, every quarterback is the same thing.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_05]: They don't like trash at their feet, pressure up the middle is is a killer, but a mallequalist tends to drop his head when the pressure's up the middle.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_04]: And did they promise Jamari Sawyer chance to compete for starting guard position?
- 37:18[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_04]: But we know that he's also a really, you know, he's, he's ideal probably as the swing back up tackle.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_04]: behind Patrick Paul and Austin Jackson, you know that doesn't mean he couldn't end up being a starter at the guard position and still be the swing back up because the green bay packers were I think pretty notorious for moving those offensive linemen all over the place they were very fluid.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_04]: in the way that they attacked that position.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_04]: But I think you take a page from what the Chicago Bears did in their commitment to the offensive line.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_04]: And you do look at a thing I want to, you know, like you do look at, you know, possibly Francis Maioino and it gets there then what are you going to do?
- 38:04[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you're probably going to take him, right?
- 38:07[SPEAKER_04]: I think that you, you, you, you,
- 38:09[SPEAKER_04]: Focus on that you get those guard positions nailed down.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_04]: You're not counting on Jonas of Inaia to somehow miraculously be a completely different player.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_04]: And this is this is what you want to do to help them out now.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_04]: You can help them out.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_04]: You brought up tight end position.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_04]: You know, could they trade up for a tight end.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_04]: I do think that a tight end kind of gives you a little bit of, you know, almost a triple threat in terms of helping out the quarterback.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, yes, I could see a tight end of a good tight end being a target in one of those picks.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know about pick number 30 or certainly not pick number 11.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_04]: But you know, you could see one being being high up.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's how you start.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_04]: That's how you help out Malik Willis.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's not about the skill position players that much.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_04]: Keep in mind, this guy's been a scramble a lot.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_04]: So you're going to have to teach your scramble drills really well with the receivers.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_04]: And these guys are going to get uncovered because Malik Willis is bought time with his legs.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_04]: And no, that's not going to happen every single time, but I think that you look at the history of John Eric Sullivan and Green Bay.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_04]: He tends to take wide receivers a little bit later on.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_04]: They tend to have some success doing that, too.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that they'll look at some wider severs and maybe you do look at CJ Daniels who is obviously comes in as one of Malik's favorite people and players to throw the ball to.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_04]: But I think in the meantime, Jalen Tolbert was an interesting signing because they already do have that relationship.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_04]: Malik Willis and Jalen Tolbert, that's one of the reasons that Tolbert signed here.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_04]: to do that.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_04]: Well, hearty, you've got your baked in jail and water kind of replacement as far as being a deep threat speedster and also being kind of a smaller player.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_04]: I think that you can help him out mainly and primarily by improving that blocking prowess along the front of the offensive line, which would really help you to try and dominate on the ground,
- 40:20[SPEAKER_04]: the best thing you could do for Belique Willis.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely best thing you can do for him.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: So, no, I did do a degree that, you know, a number X number of the first Y picks have to be skill position players to catch passes from Belique Willis.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_04]: No, I don't agree with that at all.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_05]: One last thing, before I go back to the, to Simon, what's going on with your boy, John Jennings?
- 40:44[SPEAKER_05]: Why is he on a team yet?
- 40:48[SPEAKER_04]: mate is that for me or for Chris but for Chris for Chris oh mate um yeah he's the join Jennings guy on this podcast yeah yeah and i'm big fan of his uh i weren't the dolphins involved in that no i thought they there was a rumor there was a rumor uh i think the longer he goes yeah the more likely that he comes
- 41:10[SPEAKER_04]: But who knows the longer it goes, but in the meantime, I mean, there's there's been talk about his, I guess his compartment as a as a professional.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, he's a fiery guy.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_04]: passionate guy, which can, you know, bleed into some bad things sometimes.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_04]: There's talk of that.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how much of that is just BS.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think I can really tell you.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_03]: I kind of, everybody thought Rashid Walker was going to get a big contract.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_03]: Things that were just a one-year deal.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_03]: And it may be that, for as good as Jennings is in the run game, which I think is why the dolphins, you know, he's got that fast gadget that I think that fast gadget also can blow up in his face a little bit.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_04]: He's a very specialized kind of player like he's good.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_04]: He's great in the run game as you said and he's great at getting open against man coverage from the slot.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_04]: That's these are things that he can do and so you want you want a guy that can get open from in man coverage on third down.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_04]: And from the slot and then that's what Kyle Shanahan has always said is even when he had debo Samuel and when he had.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_04]: Um, the other guy whose name escaped me and now, um, you know, he's, he always said that the guy who is on our team that is best at getting open against man coverage is actually July and Jennings.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what they, they utilize him and third down.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_04]: That's a very specialized kind of player.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_04]: That's a very, you know,
- 42:36[SPEAKER_04]: kind of Jarvis Landry, but, you know, lesser kind of player.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_04]: And it could be that he is, well, he disagrees with that.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_04]: He's got, he's got ice that are bigger than, uh, than, uh, than his stomach right now.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_05]: All right, and on the way out, we will start with our draft series beginning next week.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_05]: So, mind we'll just lead into that a little bit here as we as we leave you until next week.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_05]: Simon, what do you foresee is the most impactful player that can make it to 11?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_05]: Realistically, because we already decided that Caleb Downs, in my opinion, Caleb Downs and Sunday stars of the two most impactful players for the Miami Dolphins, like I think both of them would transform the defense.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_05]: I think you could go from a bad defense to average with those two players, but either one of those two players in my opinion.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_05]: But I don't think either one has a shutting hell at making it to 11.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, somebody should get sacked.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_03]: If it's hard to quantify Kla down to his role in many regards, because what he does is he ties that entire defense together.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_03]: And I think if you can watch the old 22 of,
- 43:48[SPEAKER_03]: of Ohio State, you just see three players moving differently to everybody else, and they almost move in unison, and that's re-styles and downs.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I think if you watch, there's a thick English listeners and soccer fans will kind of know that, like, when you, if you sometimes see the overhead prediction of little kids playing soccer, it's like bird, you don't have migrating birds all fly together.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody just moves about all over there, and that's the same thing with those three.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_03]: But I think that Dallas just ties it all together.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_03]: He's so rangey.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_03]: He's such a kind of a buddha bakery, Brian Brachy kind of player.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_03]: But everything is he can play everywhere and anywhere.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_03]: He's technique is so good.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_03]: Everything he does is at the absolute premium level.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_03]: He is the move piece extraordinary for a defensive corner, for a defensive corner, like Jeff Haffley.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_03]: He can solve structural problems.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_03]: He is the versatility to be in a slot, to be deep, to be a too high, to be a part of the pressure package, or all of those different things.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_03]: He's so violent, he's so sudden, he just detonates blockers like, he's unreal, he's blocky, the construction is sensational.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_03]: I just think if he can get to,
- 45:03[SPEAKER_03]: If he can get to pick 11, that is the biggest slam dunk home run pick.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_03]: And people say, oh, but he's not, he doesn't have any standard attributes.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's not big.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's not tall.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_03]: It just watched the, that people that say that, just that, that you're either not watching the tape or you don't understand what you're watching.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_03]: That, to so to me, Caleb dance would be the, the guy.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_05]: So you think that there is a possibility he makes it to 11.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_03]: Well, safety isn't a premium position, right?
- 45:29[SPEAKER_03]: But this is not a premium position draft necessarily.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we're talking about the best players in the draft, potentially, you can make a pretty solid argument.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_03]: The best three players in the draft are an off-ball line backer, a free safety with varying designation at the back end and a running back.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 45:48[SPEAKER_03]: No, those are premium positions.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_03]: So, and there are question marks about the four premium positions.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_03]: You've got the core back to the one of them, but we know he's going to go once he's out that he's out the road.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_03]: who left tackle, I mean, Spencer Fano is a right tackle and might be a guard, Malano is a right tackle, so might be a guard.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: I might be a guard.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_04]: Or at least initially.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_03]: Monro Freeling is looks like he's the number one left tackle and may go significantly higher, cleave in the six, for example.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_03]: But this question might, he's got one years of experience.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_03]: Corner is that the third premium position, and we've got a Guy Mansour Delay who's 510, just a hair on the 511.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_03]: We've got Jamad McCoy who refused to run at the Con-Mine and hasn't played for a year.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_03]: And we've got Avion Terrell, who's a nickel back, and then Edge is the fourth position, right?
- 46:41[SPEAKER_03]: And we've got a guy in Ruben Bane, who is the outliers outlier as good as he is.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_03]: But he's got the sure he will have the shortest arms of any first round top 10 past Russia or in NFL history as good as he is any years.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_03]: And I think there's lots in his game that mitigates the short arms.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_03]: But so there are question marks about those premium positions.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_03]: But to me,
- 47:00[SPEAKER_03]: If Caleb Downs gets to my amit 11, that will be the biggest home run draft that this team will have had in a long time.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but before I go to Chris Simon on Monday, the hurricane's going to have the pro day, they are going to measure room and bane's arms if it comes, you know, his arms come in longer.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_05]: What do you do with that, that information?
- 47:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, there was already there was already like several teams piped up during the combine and said, we met with arms and we don't agree with their their measurement.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_04]: Like they said that, I'm at like 32 inches or whatever 32 plus inch norms.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_04]: My answer to the question, because I don't think, I don't think that either Caleb bounds or Sunny Styles makes it to, no, I think that I think that it might not even be close to be honest.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's all right.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_04]: rationality might prevail, but that is my answer.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_04]: Ruben Bain, like you're gonna ask me the same question.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_04]: It's Ruben Bain.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_04]: He could realistically make it because of all the boobers and the guys that are caught up on prototypes and things like that, and yet everything about this player is like six time all pro.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_04]: You know, like this is a guy that is going to be in your ring
- 48:18[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and I think that if he were to make it to number 11 overall, then you run up to the podium with the pick and I don't care about a top Robinson, even though I liked him coming out of the draft and I still like him.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_04]: it doesn't matter.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_04]: It really doesn't matter.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_04]: Ruben Bain is your pick and he can be a real.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_04]: And the one thing about Ruben Bain as opposed to some of the others and where I have kind of in the back of my head about guys like Sunny Styles and you know, even to an extent Caleb downs is unique players have to be used uniquely and if they're not used uniquely, then the shine comes off.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_04]: Right, at least as far as they're NFL, you know, their reputational value is concerned.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_04]: With a guy like Ruben Bane,
- 49:06[SPEAKER_04]: If you can't figure out how to use them because it's, it's, it's extremely straightforward, you know, it is, it is, there's, you're not, you're not going to have to get up on a white board and do a lot of thinking about this.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_04]: How to use a room in Ruben Bane, I think there's an old saying that something like you know Warren Buffett used to say, by a business that can be run by by room full of monkeys because one day room full of monkeys might be running the business.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_04]: You know, Rubin Bane is a guy that can be Rubin Bane no matter who's coaching and no matter who's making any decisions about about your defense.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was one of the things you claim as an edge with the down.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_03]: You can come inside.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_04]: You can take them inside or keep on edge.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't matter.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_04]: Like it's, you know, he's pretty straightforward.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's hard to go wrong with Ruben Bay.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_04]: That's that's what I would come oil.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_05]: And that's my answer as well.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_05]: Ruben Bay and Ruben Bay and that 11 is just like like it's a if he was six six two hundred and seventy pounds.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_05]: He'd be the second overall pick because.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_05]: But that's why you paid it in that building.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_03]: If he wasn't any bigger than he is, if he was still 6 through 275, but he had 34 in jobs.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_03]: These are top three things.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_03]: These are second points.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_04]: But think about it this way.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_04]: Some teams will have him as the third edge.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_03]: because it feels like Reese's is the number one, and the Bailey is now the number two guy.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_05]: And so while Sunny Styles has better pressure numbers than both of those other two combined.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but it was a couple of different things.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_03]: You can have better pressure numbers because a lot of those pressure numbers come from second level blitzes, rather than Sunny Styles is not lining up.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_03]: you know, as a pure red Russia.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: So we're not counting those numbers in the same way that we recount.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_03]: But then look like look at Arvelle Reese, for example, you know, I think he's an unbelievable player.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_03]: But he had, and I graded it, he had 12 Russia's where he attempted to win last season with an
- 51:12[SPEAKER_03]: People said that Jalen Walker last year was in experience.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_03]: He had 36 rushes where he tried to win with an outside movement.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_03]: Now, he's outside moves, reaches where electric.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not all about outside moves, right?
- 51:24[SPEAKER_05]: But still, you know, that's one thing about Ruben Bane when you watch a mom film, he just finds a way.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_05]: It's not the same rush.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_05]: He's not, he's not been in the edge, you know, he's not getting small.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_05]: He's doing it all.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_05]: Like he'll, he has a counter for the counter.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_05]: And then when you have that counter, he'll kick inside and then he'll just bowl over a guard if he wants to.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_03]: What I find fascinating about Bane and what I
- 51:52[SPEAKER_03]: is that, for example, he's so strong in the lower half.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_03]: Right, his build is really unconventional, he weighs 6, 3 and whatever, but he's a, he's so heavy-handed.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_03]: Now, you can mitigate those heavy hands if you've got a limer with 34 inch arms and then you can get those arms into you already.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_03]: But he's so thick in the lower half, his bubble is so big and he's just got this kind of hump move where if you can get into his chest, he's so strong that he's able to create space
- 52:22[SPEAKER_03]: a secure his ass or his thigh where he just can use that lower half explosion to then create space to be able to get his arms back inside and he can move those arms so quickly.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's very, very rare that you see bane just completely taken out of it.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_03]: Even against college tackles and the level of college tackles is, you know, it's not great, right?
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: But,
- 52:41[SPEAKER_03]: There are ways that show up on tight for him to get wins that don't necessarily mean that he the arm length is such a thing.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: It becomes a thing for example for Cassius Howe, who I think is probably the best pure speed get off the ball, dip and rip Russia in the draft, right?
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: I don't you know David Bailey is really, but how is so bendy?
- 53:05[SPEAKER_03]: He's so bendy, you know, but he can be
- 53:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he's kind of Nick Hurby in a way, I think cash is how, but without the run ability, but he can be completely overwhelmed at the edge.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_03]: Now, he's got no lower body power or any of that kind of thing in the same way that that bane does.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_03]: And that's why, how obviously is not a top 10 bit because if you've cash is how, I'd
- 53:28[SPEAKER_03]: you know, was lowering the trunk in a 34 inch arms and he's a top 10 pick, right?
- 53:32[SPEAKER_03]: But but he doesn't, you know, so and I think that's the difference.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think those factors we've been just need to play into account a little bit.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I would suggest for those of you that, you know, want to watch a little bit more of Ruben Bane, watch the Ole Miss game, that was the semi final, right before they played in the National Championship against Indiana.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_05]: And if you go back and if you believe these numbers and I happen to, I do believe them, the pressure rate allowed.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_05]: Number one offensive line in the country was the University of Miami.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_05]: Number two was Ole Miss.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_03]: allowing, I believe, was a 19.6 pressure rate with two very, very, very good draftable tackles in Diego pounds and Jake Williams.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_03]: Why do I keep both green and draft this year?
- 54:18[SPEAKER_03]: And pounds to me is a day three, early day four pick and I like Williams as tape as well.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he come on and all stars.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, watch that game against Miami.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_05]: They were devoting to.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_05]: They were sending a back.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_05]: They were sending a tight end and they were leaving a key measure or one on one on the other side.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_05]: That was a choice.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_05]: That was something that they saw on tape.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_05]: They decided to neutralize Ruben Bane and to essentially cut a key message or lose.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_05]: That was a choice and they're essentially giving you their evaluation with what was a very, very good offense plan at the
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that Bane gets chipped as much as, say, Nick Bosa, for example, when Nick Morris came out, he does get extra attention, and the thing I think for Mesodore is that Mesodore doesn't get sacks because Ruben Bane is on the other side, Mesodore gets sacks because he's
- 55:14[SPEAKER_03]: dynamic between the two of them.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_03]: They're obviously helping one another, but they're not relying on one another.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_03]: The rest of the door isn't relying on Bain to take up a double so that he can win singularly on the outside.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's not how it works.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't think Bain is getting chipped and doubled and you know in the same way that some of the great rashes that we've seen over the last, you know, he's not getting the Mars Garrett treatment, it takes then and he's not getting the
- 55:38[SPEAKER_03]: but he, you know, he wins in different ways.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_03]: This is, I don't see Ruben Baine as a guy that's going to get 15, you know, 12 to 15 saxeses of that.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_03]: That to me is, and what he is about, because I don't want exactly to be shocked either.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_03]: No, I wouldn't be shocked, but if he's getting nine, ten, to me he's going to be a tackle for lost guy.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be an early-down-edge seter,
- 56:08[SPEAKER_03]: right away, he'll rush from the inside and he'll get some wins against guards and centers and those sorts of things.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't think that he's necessarily going to be a guy who's going to come in and have 17 sacks at any point in his career because that to me just doesn't strike me as what his game is all about.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but he's a really good player.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I think if the, you know, you sprint to the podium, if he got to 11.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's got to be I think that overall like you know when when all said and done his career is going to look probably a lot like Terrell Sugs you know from the Baltimore Ravens for you know who played for nearly two decades and and you know did he have 12 sacks a year as you're describing no not necessarily but you know he finished his career in however many years that he
- 57:02[SPEAKER_04]: 140 set.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, any one of the different points of the year to be in is.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that Ruben Bane has absolutely that potential is is to be another terrible sucks.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_05]: All right.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_05]: Simon, you have a show next.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_05]: Later on this week with Kyle Krebs, do you know what you're going to be talking about yet?
- 57:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not really, I mean we'll probably touch on the world of trading how that affects the first round, we'll look at some of the pro days and some of the standout performance and some of the guys that kind of go under the radar, who maybe weren't at the senior bowl or the shrine game or the combine but have turned in.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_03]: Um, big pro days, Danny Jeremiah released a new mock draft today, so I'll probably have a scoot through that and see some of the names that Daniel's shaping up because he's obviously so well connected.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, it'll be a kind of long that along that vein.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_03]: Um, Mike look at Mike look at, um, we'll have our prospects for the week.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and we'll probably talk a little bit about a running back that I think is really, really intriguing and that's Mike Washington of Arkansas, who I think might end up at the end of the first round with the CLC hooks.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and if you want more of Simon, why wouldn't you you could of course go to our discord or you could go to his sub stack, which is right there Run under his name right there on YouTube, but if you can't if you're listening to us on audio, I was put a link and it's the low red zone dot sub stack dot com.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_05]: I was put a link to it.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_05]: You could click on it on every single one of our promos.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_05]: All right.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_05]: That's it.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_05]: There is no more next week.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_05]: We begin our draft series as we march toward
- 58:36[SPEAKER_05]: The NFL draft.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_05]: We will be four weeks away.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_05]: Next week when we're on the air, we will be four weeks away from the NFL draft.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: But tell that.
