- 0:01John chapter one, let us pray. Oh God Almighty Lord, we come
- 0:14and we sit at your feet. Father, we lay prostate as dead
- 0:21men. Lord, we desire revelation
- 0:27today. Lord, we desire for you to pull
- 0:31back the curtains and allow us to peek and to peer in to the
- 0:39throne room of grace. God, we come running in.
- 0:46Lord, we desire to see you high and lifted up Jesus Christ.
- 0:52Eyes like fire and hair like wool.
- 0:56The voice many waters God we desire to see you and we see you
- 1:04in Jesus Holy Spirit fill us today.
- 1:09Holy Spirit guide us today. I decrease as you increase Jesus
- 1:14Christ, as we memorize these words and as we meditate upon
- 1:22these words and as we learn your scriptures.
- 1:26Father, I pray that it becomes part of us, part of our DNA.
- 1:32Lord, I pray that you will discern us.
- 1:36Lord, I pray that we will be one with you and you one with us.
- 1:41God, I pray that we are lockstep, walking in the Spirit.
- 1:45Father, I pray against the satisfying, the lusts of the
- 1:49flesh. God I reject the lust of the
- 1:53flesh, I reject the lust of the eyes.
- 1:58God, I reject the pride of life. In God we take up the cross,
- 2:07knowing that the blood of the martyrs, the seed of the Gospel,
- 2:13knowing that you are calling us into new heights, knowing that
- 2:18you are calling us into a steadfast obedience unto you.
- 2:23Lord, I pray that we could lay down our lives for our brothers.
- 2:29God, we can know the love that you have for us.
- 2:34And God, we can stiff arm fear, we can stiff arm death.
- 2:41And Lord, we can stand boldly in the ministry that you've given
- 2:48us, God, for our families, for our neighbors, for this world.
- 2:56God, I just pray that as we embark on this journey together,
- 3:02Lord, that you will be well pleased.
- 3:07And Lord, that we can come to know Christ and Christ
- 3:10crucified, Lord, reveal to us eternal truths.
- 3:15Lord, I pray that we'll be awakened to the word today.
- 3:23Lord, that something will shift within our spirit.
- 3:27And God, I pray that we will be emboldened in our faith and that
- 3:33the scales will fall off. Lord, I pray that self
- 3:41preservation and pride will fall off today.
- 3:48I pray in the name of Jesus that reputation God in the amassment
- 3:56of wealth and greed will fall off today.
- 4:02God, I pray that malice and anger and strife and gossip will
- 4:07fall off as we read your word. God, I pray that your word will
- 4:13read us. I pray that it will purge us,
- 4:17purify us, that it will test us, that it will pull out all the
- 4:22impurities in the dross. God, in the name of Jesus, I
- 4:26pray that we'll never be the same.
- 4:31God, I pray that we'll be obedient and the love of Christ
- 4:35will consume us. God, I thank you for your Holy
- 4:40Scriptures. I thank you for the many things
- 4:43that you've already done for us, Lord, the unmentioned things,
- 4:47God, the capillaries, Lord, and the thought processes, Father,
- 4:57the things that we're not even aware of, Father, the
- 4:59subconscious. God, I pray that you'll awaken
- 5:03and quicken in us in the spirit God.
- 5:06Awaken us to the supernatural. God, let us not just be steeped
- 5:12in the natural, but God let us be balanced as we move and
- 5:17operate and have our being, you and us and us and you.
- 5:22God, we love you. This in the mighty name of Jesus
- 5:26Christ, I pray, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 5:36In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and
- 5:43the Word was God. Jesus Christ is God.
- 5:53Here you see the Trinity all at play, friends, God the Father,
- 5:58God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- 6:02We see that Jesus rightfully shows that he is God.
- 6:10There is no breaking in that thought process and in that
- 6:15doctrine, Friends, we cannot be duped.
- 6:18We cannot be LED astray by those that teach otherwise.
- 6:24We must stand firm on the Trinity of God Almighty being
- 6:29three in one. And that is not a hard concept,
- 6:32friends. We must realize that it is the
- 6:37same with the different offices with different facets.
- 6:43And you and I are three in one. We have body, we have soul, we
- 6:48have spirit friends, but we are one as we wake up and as we go
- 6:54about our day. We're one individual, but
- 6:58made-up of three. And it's no different with
- 7:01Yahweh. He is 3 and He is 1, and we see
- 7:05here that His spoken word, the Rhema, we see that the Logos
- 7:12here is God. It is His thoughts, it is His
- 7:18mind, it is His plan for the ages.
- 7:21It is the full authority. And we would do well not to call
- 7:25any of it into question, friends.
- 7:28We would do well to stand firm and build our lives upon this
- 7:32word. Friends, this is the supreme
- 7:36authority over the land. This is the supreme authority
- 7:40over every nation, every continent, every people group,
- 7:44every tongue, friends. The Jewish God Yahweh is the
- 7:53only one true God. Every other God is an idol,
- 7:58friends. And it's just that clear and
- 8:02it's just that factual. Jesus said I am the way, the
- 8:09truth and the life, and no one comes unto the Father except
- 8:13through me. And here we get to see what he
- 8:17meant by that is that Jesus is God.
- 8:22Verse 2. The same was in the beginning
- 8:26with God. So we can see the deity of Jesus
- 8:31Christ, we can see his beginning has no beginning, we can see
- 8:40that He is eternal 3. All things were made by him, and
- 8:47without him was not anything made that was made before the
- 8:52foundations of the earth. He was with God, He is God, and
- 8:57He spoke everything into existence.
- 9:02Think about it. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light
- 9:09of men. So we know that Jesus is the
- 9:14life. We know that it is just His
- 9:18words. It is his breath that sustains
- 9:23all life, friends. And He breathed into us and we
- 9:28have His breath in US, and it is the only way that we are able to
- 9:35have life and we can have life now and life forever.
- 9:40Abundant life, friends. It is by being indwelled with
- 9:45the Holy Spirit, it is by having the resurrection power living
- 9:48inside of us that we can start the process of eternity now,
- 9:54that we will be living forever with Him forever more.
- 9:58Every single person who has ever been born, is living today, or
- 10:04will be born is going to live forever.
- 10:08He created us to live forever. We have eternity placed into the
- 10:14heart of man. And here's the reality, friends,
- 10:17is that there are only two options.
- 10:21There's heaven and there's hell, and we choose to go to hell
- 10:25whenever we reject this life that He is giving us, this life
- 10:30everlasting five. And the light shines in
- 10:39darkness, and the darkness comprehends it.
- 10:44Not so this darkness cannot drive out the light.
- 10:48It actually is the opposite. The light drives out darkness.
- 10:54When the light shines on the horizon, all the darkness flees.
- 10:59It is the name above every name, the name Jesus Christ, the Word.
- 11:05And we can see that the Word became flesh, and we can see
- 11:08that it shines in the darkness. And there is no place on planet
- 11:13earth that this light cannot touch and reach.
- 11:16Friends, and if we choose to reject this light, it is not
- 11:22because the light has not shined upon us.
- 11:25All of creation proclaims His name, so that man is without
- 11:29excuse, which is the reason that we are sending ourselves into
- 11:35eternal damnation, because we have no excuse.
- 11:39Look at the beauty all around, friends.
- 11:41But people are so in love with evil that they refuse to love
- 11:46the truth. Six, There was a man sent from
- 11:51God whose name was John. So he's going to start waxing
- 11:55eloquently about John the Baptist.
- 11:59And by the way, friends, this first chapter here.
- 12:02And John, this is not poetry. This is not just some very well
- 12:10written account. This is the reality.
- 12:13This is the mind of Christ. This is what God had in his mind
- 12:18as he was pinning it. These are inspired words.
- 12:22This is not just semantics. Friends. 7 The same came for a
- 12:31witness, to bear witness to the light that all men through him
- 12:36might believe. So we know that John the Baptist
- 12:39was the forerunner for Jesus Christ.
- 12:41We know that John the Baptist was the herald of our Messiah. 8
- 12:47He was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of that
- 12:54light. So John the Baptist made sure
- 12:59everyone knew that he wasn't even worthy to tie the straps of
- 13:05the sandals of our Messiah, which would have been the lowest
- 13:11of the lowest position of the Servant.
- 13:15And so you can see that he is saying that His glory far
- 13:19surpasses anything that man has ever known. 9 That was the true
- 13:29light, which lights every man and comes into the world.
- 13:34So we know that Jesus Christ is the true light. 10 He was in the
- 13:40world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
- 13:47They did not receive him, they rejected Him.
- 13:51They were too steeped in traditions and ceremony that
- 13:55they refused to open up their hearts and their minds and their
- 13:59understanding. They refused to allow Jesus
- 14:03Christ to break down all their presuppositions.
- 14:07They refused him. They rejected him.
- 14:10They murdered their Messiah. But the Lord has an ultimate
- 14:14plan that he's going to bring this Jewish nation.
- 14:17He's going to bring the whole world into the saving knowledge
- 14:22of the Lord Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that
- 14:27he gave him, that whosoever will believe in him will not perish,
- 14:33but they will have eternal life. And we know that it is God's
- 14:37plan that no one should perish, but we choose to reject Him
- 14:43because we're so in love with this world.
- 14:46We're so in love with the flesh. We're so in love with greed.
- 14:51We're so in love with power and position and lording over
- 14:54others. We're so in love with all of the
- 14:57things in this world that we refuse to follow after.
- 15:02The only one that can give us the abundant life.
- 15:05The only one that can give us the eternal life.
- 15:08The only one that can give us the Holy Spirit as a down
- 15:11payment for what's to come, friends.
- 15:14And we desperately need Jesus. We desperately need a touch from
- 15:18Jesus. We desperately need to be filled
- 15:20with the Holy Spirit. We desperately need to have
- 15:23assurance of our salvation. Friends 12 But as many as
- 15:33received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God,
- 15:40even to them that believed on His name.
- 15:44That is what it takes, Friends. It takes believing on His name.
- 15:49It takes believing that God raised him from the dead.
- 15:52And you shall be saved, and the Holy Spirit will fill you.
- 15:57We will not satisfy the lust of the flesh, friends, and we will
- 16:01be filled and quickened in our spirit.
- 16:03And we will come alive, friends, to the knowledge and revelation
- 16:08of Jesus Christ. And His glory will overwhelm us.
- 16:13His glory will be our meditation.
- 16:19His glory will be the very thing that we exalt over this nation
- 16:26and over our families. It is His power from on high,
- 16:32His deity. Friends, it is the beauty of
- 16:36Jesus that we chase after 13 which were born not of blood,
- 16:46nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of
- 16:50God. And this is what Jesus sat down
- 16:53and discussed with Nicodemus. This is what He was telling him,
- 16:58that you must be born of the Spirit and we desperately need
- 17:05to surrender our entire lives. Whatever little bit of time that
- 17:10you have left, friends, surrender it unto God.
- 17:13Surrender it unto the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 17:17Every moment of every day and every heartbeat and every breath
- 17:22fully surrendered unto Him. Nothing held back, nothing
- 17:26compartmentalized friends. Every single molecule of your
- 17:31being completely yielded it over to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 17:37Every thought, every emotion, every dollar, every cent, every
- 17:45talent, every single one of your abilities, all of your
- 17:54reputation, all of your pride, all of yourself completely
- 17:59yielded to the reality of the truth of Jesus Christ. 14 And
- 18:09the Word was made flesh, and he dwelt among us, and we beheld
- 18:15his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,
- 18:20full of grace and truth. So here we see the incarnation.
- 18:26We see how John the Disciple here, not John the Baptist, but
- 18:35John the disciple, the Beloved, got to see Jesus on the Mount of
- 18:43Transfiguration. He got to see the glory of Jesus
- 18:48Christ exuding from the inside out.
- 18:52He took off the veil, He took off the blinders, and he allowed
- 18:57the disciples to see him in all of his glory.
- 19:01And we will, believers, we will see him rightly.
- 19:06We must fix our eyes upon the Lord Jesus Christ, the Author,
- 19:11the perfector of our faith. He's leading us home.
- 19:15He's going from glory to glory, friends, and we must join him.
- 19:20We must take hold of the hem of his garment and allow him to
- 19:24make us whole and to heal us, friends, and to fill us,
- 19:29friends. And he is full of grace and
- 19:34truth. This is set, friends.
- 19:40This is the reality of how Jesus operates in this life and in the
- 19:45life to come. It's grace and grace abounds.
- 19:48It's grace upon grace, friends. It's nothing that you could ever
- 19:53earn. It is by His free gift, friends
- 19:58of Grace. That he bestows upon us and it
- 20:02is truth. You must walk in the truth you
- 20:05must tell the truth friends this is Jesus Jesus is the truth
- 20:11friends and it are. It's these two points that we
- 20:16hyper fixate and focus our actions upon and our obedience
- 20:22upon, and we extend grace to those who desperately need it,
- 20:27and we instruct those to walk in the truth, friends, and this is
- 20:34the way of Jesus Christ. 15 John bore witness of him and cried,
- 20:43saying, this was he of whom I spoke.
- 20:46He that comes after me is preferred before me, for he was
- 20:51before me. We know that John the Baptist
- 20:53was the elder. We know that he was born first
- 20:57from Elizabeth and Zechariah, and we know that he would have
- 21:01been older than Jesus. And here he is showing you that
- 21:04Jesus is God because he was before him. 16 and of his
- 21:11fullness have all we received and grace for grace.
- 21:17We're getting grace instead of grace.
- 21:20And it is grace upon grace, friends, that we press into.
- 21:26And it is not by works that anyone should boast, Friends,
- 21:31we're not going to enter into heaven because of anything that
- 21:34we have done. It is all because of what He has
- 21:37done. And He imputes His righteousness
- 21:39upon us, friends. And that is the grace of God is
- 21:44that no matter how despicable you have been, He invites you
- 21:49into the holiness of what he wrought for us on the cross.
- 21:56The holiness and glory and the innocence that He lived out and
- 22:04fleshed out on this earth is available to you and to me.
- 22:08And we can stand in the presence of a holy, righteous, Almighty
- 22:14God, and we can be counted as innocent because of what Jesus
- 22:21did on the cross, and that is grace upon grace, and that is
- 22:26grace instead of grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but
- 22:33grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
- 22:38So he's driving down this grace that is balanced with truth,
- 22:44Friends. And we know that Jesus Christ is
- 22:51grace and truth. We know that he did not come to
- 22:53abolish the law, but to fulfill it. 18 No man has seen God at
- 22:58any time. The only begotten Son, which is
- 23:02in the bosom of the Father, He has declared him.
- 23:06So we know that God is an all consuming fire.
- 23:10We know that God is the great I am, and we know that Jesus
- 23:17Christ is the facet of God that we can look upon. 19 And this is
- 23:26the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites
- 23:32from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
- 23:35So here comes the Pharisees and they're wanting to know who The
- 23:39Who John the Baptist is. 20 He confessed and denied not, but
- 23:45confessed I am not the Christ. So they wanted to know if John
- 23:48the Baptist was the Messiah, their long-awaited Messiah.
- 23:51And he says, no, I am not. 21 So they asked him, what then are
- 23:56you Elijah? And he said, I am not.
- 23:59So we know in a in a way that John the Baptist, he held the
- 24:04mantle in the ministry of Elijah.
- 24:07He could have very well said that he was not Elijah, but he
- 24:15had a lot of the same characteristics of Elijah.
- 24:23And then they asked, are you that prophet?
- 24:26And he answered, no. So we know that in the Old
- 24:31Testament that it was recorded that a prophet would come and
- 24:36they wanted to know, are you that prophet?
- 24:38And he says No 22 Then said they unto him, Who are you, that we
- 24:45may give an answer to them that sent us?
- 24:48What do you say of yourself? So they did not want to go back
- 24:53to their leaders and have no answer that they were confounded
- 24:58by this hippie in the wilderness eating locusts and honey who had
- 25:05outsmarted and outwitted and outmaneuvered them, so they
- 25:10needed something to go off of. What does John the Baptist say
- 25:15of himself? 2323?
- 25:18He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness.
- 25:22Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet
- 25:26Isaiah. So here he quotes out of the
- 25:29book of Isaiah. And this was foretold that John
- 25:32the Baptist would come on the scene and be the herald and the
- 25:35forerunner for Jesus Christ. And he's telling them, Go and
- 25:40search the Scriptures, and you will know that God is in your
- 25:45midst, is right in your midst, friends. 24 And they which were
- 25:51sent were of the Pharisees. 25 And they asked him, and said
- 25:56unto him, Why do you baptize then, if you are not the Christ,
- 26:00nor Elijah, nor that prophet? So they're asking him, What
- 26:06authority do you think you have to come and to be the person who
- 26:14is baptizing, By what authority do you think that you have?
- 26:19You're not of the religious sect, you're not a Pharisee,
- 26:23you're not a Sadducee. And here John the Baptist is
- 26:28going to proclaim to him where his authority comes from.
- 26:36John 26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water,
- 26:41but they're standing one among you whom you know not. 27 He it
- 26:47is who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoes
- 26:51latch it. I'm not worthy to unloose. 28
- 26:57These things were done in Betharba beyond Jordan, where
- 27:02John was baptizing. So he's telling them that his
- 27:06authority comes from his calling, from the calling that
- 27:10was placed on him before he was even conceived.
- 27:14We know that the Angel appeared to Zechariah and told him that
- 27:19John the Baptist would have a miraculous birth through
- 27:24Elizabeth, who was old and stricken with age.
- 27:28And we know that John the Baptist was a Nazarite in the
- 27:32sense that he went out. He'd never touched fermented
- 27:35drink. We know that his food was locust
- 27:39and honey. And we know that he has a
- 27:41leather belt around his waist and a hairy camel cloak.
- 27:47And here these religious people would have been completely put
- 27:52off by John the Baptist, and we know that John the Baptist was
- 27:58the forerunner and the witness of Jesus Christ. 29 The next day
- 28:11John saw Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold, the Lamb of
- 28:16God, which takes away the sin of the world.
- 28:20So here we know that Jesus Christ was the only one found
- 28:24worthy to open the scroll. He was the Lamb that was slain
- 28:28before the foundations of the earth, and it pleased God to
- 28:32crush him, and it is marvelous in our sight.
- 28:37And here John the Baptist is pronouncing the death and the
- 28:42burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- 28:45He is the Lamb of God, and he takes away the complete sin of
- 28:50the world. And blessed is the man whose
- 28:52sins will never be counted against him.
- 28:57And we see that Jesus is the only way to have the right
- 29:01standing with God Almighty. It is by the blood of Jesus
- 29:05Christ covering us, friends, from the bottom of our feet to
- 29:10to the top of our head, from the palms of our hands to our back
- 29:15and our chest and our legs and our arms.
- 29:18We need to be covered in the blood of Jesus Christ so that we
- 29:22can stand before Almighty God one day. 30 This is he of whom I
- 29:33said, after me comes a man, which is preferred before me,
- 29:37for he was before me. So we can see that Jesus Christ
- 29:43is the creator of everything, seen and unseen.
- 29:47And John the Baptist understood it and he would not.
- 29:52John the Baptist would not receive undo worship.
- 29:57And we would do well to make sure that when people try to
- 30:01exalt us, that we push down that worship and that we give all
- 30:07glory and all honor unto God Almighty.
- 30:11For we see that we are just unprofitable servants.
- 30:14We are bond servants of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 30:18And anything good in US is only because of the Lord Jesus
- 30:22Christ. There is nothing good in US, no,
- 30:24not one thing. There is not one man who is
- 30:27righteous and all of our righteousnesses, but filthy rags
- 30:32before the Lord. We must walk in that bridal
- 30:36identity. It is only by Him and Him alone
- 30:39that we can come unto the Father, and that we can receive
- 30:43salvation, and that we can receive our inheritance with
- 30:49Him. 31 And I knew him not, but that he should be made manifest
- 30:56to Israel. Therefore I am come baptizing
- 30:59with water. So here is John's response to
- 31:02the Pharisees of why he's baptizing with water.
- 31:05It is because God Almighty told him to.
- 31:08And then God Almighty said, when he was out in the wilderness, he
- 31:11says, listen, the one who is my Messiah, the one who's coming to
- 31:18take care of all the sin in the world, you're going to see a
- 31:22dove descend upon him and you'll know that he is the Christ, the
- 31:28long-awaited Messiah. 32 And John Borer records saying, I saw
- 31:33the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode
- 31:38upon him. So that was the sign that God
- 31:41told John the Baptist that he would see to know that Jesus
- 31:45Christ is the long-awaited Messiah. 33 And I knew him not,
- 31:52and he sees in 33 I knew him not, but he that sent me to
- 31:58baptize with water, the same said unto me, upon whom you
- 32:03shall see the Spirit descending and remaining on him, the same
- 32:08as he which baptized with the Holy Ghost.
- 32:11So John baptized with water, but Jesus Christ is going to baptize
- 32:17with fire the Holy Ghost. 34 And I saw and I bore record that
- 32:23this is the Son of God. Can you say that today, friends?
- 32:27I pray that you can. I pray that you know that Jesus
- 32:30Christ is God. 35 Again, the next day after John stood, and
- 32:37two of his disciples. So these two disciples were
- 32:40disciples of John the Baptist. 36 And looking upon Jesus as he
- 32:45walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God.
- 32:48So John the Baptist pronounces to his disciples, look, there is
- 32:53God Incarnate, God in the flesh, the Lamb that was slain before
- 32:58the foundations of the earth. 37 And the two disciples heard him
- 33:03speak, and they followed Jesus. They left John the Baptist to go
- 33:08in to follow Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned and saw them
- 33:13following, and said unto them, What do you seek?
- 33:16And they said unto him, Rabbi, which is to say, being
- 33:20interpreted, Master, where do you dwell?
- 33:24So Jesus asks you and me the same question, What do you seek?
- 33:30Are you just looking for a get out of hell free card?
- 33:35Are you just looking for a clear conscience?
- 33:40Do you want to manipulate the Word of God for your own selfish
- 33:44gain and greed? What do you seek?
- 33:50What is the meaning of it all? And we must answer that we only
- 33:57want to know Christ and Christ crucified.
- 34:01That is suffice for us. Friends, What do you seek?
- 34:07We must know Him in his sufferings and all of his glory.
- 34:1239 And he said unto them, Come and see, they came, and saw
- 34:19where he dwelled, and abode with him that day, for it was about
- 34:24the 10th hour. So imagine that friends, Imagine
- 34:30how Jesus did not live a an obscure ministry where he just
- 34:37was alone. He invited those in and He
- 34:41invites you and me in to the life that he has for us.
- 34:47Look at how Jesus Christ allowed these men, these 12 disciples,
- 34:52to study him, and it was the conviction that led them to go
- 34:57out and to suffer martyrdom for the Lord Jesus Christ. 41 Of the
- 35:07two which heard John speak and followed him was Andrew, Simon
- 35:11Peter's brother. 41 He first finds his own brother Simon, and
- 35:17said unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is being
- 35:21interpreted, the Christ. 42 And he brought him to Jesus, and
- 35:26when Jesus beheld him, he said, You are Simon, the son of Jonah.
- 35:32You shall be called Cephas, which is interpreted a stone.
- 35:37So we know that he called him Peter, and we know that on that
- 35:41rock he has built the church, and the gates of hell will not
- 35:45prevail. We know that Peter made the
- 35:47confession that Jesus is the Son of God.
- 35:52We know that he is the Christ and the Messiah, and that is how
- 35:57Simon got the name Peter. 43 The day following, Jesus would go
- 36:02forth into Galilee and finds Philip and says unto him, Follow
- 36:08me. He says the same to you and to
- 36:13me. He says follow him.
- 36:15Follow him into the darkness, Follow him into all of the
- 36:21depravity of humanity, Follow him into the hardest
- 36:25neighborhoods, follow him into the unreached people groups,
- 36:30follow him into all the world. It's the greatest adventure that
- 36:35you'll ever go on and you'll never be put to shame.
- 36:38You could spill out your life knowing that you have him right
- 36:44beside you. You can be like Stephen as he's
- 36:47being stoned to death. You can look up and see Jesus
- 36:51Christ seated at the right hand of God.
- 36:54And you can have your peace. That only comes from a
- 37:00relationship with God Almighty through his Son Jesus Christ.
- 37:05And we count this life as nothing, friends.
- 37:09We lay down our lives. We spill out our blood because
- 37:14we know that that is the seed of the gospel for all those who are
- 37:20going to come in and that is how the least become the greatest
- 37:26friends. It is a upside down, inside out
- 37:30Kingdom. He says.
- 37:32Follow me 44 Now Philip was of beside the city of Andrew and
- 37:37Peter. 45 Philip found Nathaniel and said unto him, We have found
- 37:43him of whom Moses in the law and the prophets did write, Jesus of
- 37:49Nazareth, the son of Joseph. So here this would have been a
- 37:54conundrum. Here we would have found that
- 37:59Nathaniel would have scratched his head and tried to figure out
- 38:04how this obscure little city of Nazareth, if anything good,
- 38:11could come out of it. And here he's attaching the son
- 38:15of Joseph, who was the Carpenter.
- 38:17And there would have been a lot of wrestling that would have
- 38:20needed to happen on the part of a disciple to truly trust and to
- 38:26follow this person who had no real dignity in the sense of how
- 38:35the world looks upon him. He said foxes have holes and
- 38:39birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.
- 38:44And we know that the ministry that Jesus embarked on, he never
- 38:48made it about money. Friends, He was taken care of by
- 38:54our Father, and it was a day-to-day reliance upon God
- 39:00Almighty. We must get to that place.
- 39:02We cannot have self-reliance, friends, It's not the way of our
- 39:08Lord. We must rely on the Lord Jesus
- 39:11Christ for everything, every day of every moment, and receive it
- 39:16all as a gift from Him. 46 And Nathaniel said unto him, Can
- 39:26there any good thing come out of Nazareth?
- 39:29Philip said unto him, Come and see.
- 39:32So it is the same that Jesus said, Come and see.
- 39:37And now Nathaniel is being called, and Philip is telling
- 39:42him, Just come and see. 47 Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and
- 39:48said of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no
- 39:53guile. He's saying an Israelite of
- 39:55Israelites. He's saying there is no
- 39:57deception in him. 48 Nathaniel said unto him, How do you know
- 40:04me? Jesus answered and said unto
- 40:07him, Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig
- 40:12tree, I saw you. So we know that Nathaniel, there
- 40:18was no deception in him, and we know that he was a student of
- 40:24the Scriptures and he was studying them under the fig
- 40:27tree. He was thinking about them and
- 40:30meditating upon all of the truth of Scripture.
- 40:33And here he would have been really puzzled of how Jesus knew
- 40:41him and how he saw him. And it's no different for you
- 40:45and for me. Jesus sees us.
- 40:48He sees us in the secret place. He sees us in the hidden
- 40:52moments. He knows your inner thoughts.
- 40:55He knows your inner motives. He knows your emotions.
- 40:59He knows your past and present and future.
- 41:02He knows how many hairs are on your head.
- 41:05He knows every breath that you're going to draw in your
- 41:09lifetime time. He knows your beginning and your
- 41:12end. You are known by him, believer.
- 41:17He knows everything about you. He sees us. 49 Nathaniel
- 41:27answered and said unto him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God,
- 41:32You are the King of Israel. Can you say that today about
- 41:36Jesus Christ? Is he the Son of God, the King
- 41:40of Israel? And we would do well to bless
- 41:42that nation, friends, God will bless those that bless the
- 41:48nation Israel and curse those that curse the nation, nation
- 41:53Israel. Friends, it is a biblical truth
- 41:57that is congruent from beginning to end.
- 42:00It did not have a period of time that was applicable and then
- 42:05somehow went by the wayside. It's the full counsel and
- 42:09authority of God's Word that we need.
- 42:12Francis, ignorance of the Word of God that is destroying so
- 42:16many. We must get into the Word. 50
- 42:21Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto you, I
- 42:27saw you under the fig tree, you believe you shall see greater
- 42:32things than these we'll end on. 51 And he said unto him, Truly,
- 42:39truly, I say unto you, Hereafter you shall see heaven open, and
- 42:44the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
- 42:50Surely God is in this place, this ladder of Jacob and the
- 42:54angels going up and down, and it's the Son of God.
- 42:57It is Jesus Christ who is the hinge point between heaven and
- 43:01earth. And we must come unto Him, and
- 43:04we must know that He is real, and we must know that He is our
- 43:08salvation. And there is no salvation apart
- 43:11from Jesus Christ. He is the only way, the truth
- 43:14and the life. He is the ladder.
- 43:18He is the one who Steven saw as he looked up to heaven and
- 43:24everything was rendered and ripped apart.
- 43:26And he could look and peek and peer into the reality of what is
- 43:30about to happen. And we would do well, friends,
- 43:33to make sure that we are locked in with the Lord Jesus Christ,
- 43:37lockstep with Him, and that we are living out this Word, that
- 43:44the Word is in US, friends, and we are in the Word, and the Word
- 43:50is alive and active and sharper than any 2 edged sword in the
- 43:54Lord. And the Word became flesh,
- 43:58friends. And Jesus Christ is the Word,
- 44:02the Logos. And John, the disciple here is
- 44:08pointing the Greeks, the Romans, the Jews, the Gentiles, the
- 44:20Pharisees. He's pointing all of them to the
- 44:23reality that they must come to the Father through Jesus Christ.
- 44:31Jesus Christ is the only way. Hope you've been blessed by this
- 44:35first chapter here in the Gospel of John.
- 44:40I know, I sure have. What an amazing book.
- 44:46I'm praying for you and I love you.
- 44:54So does God. Let's keep pressing forward.
- 45:01Let's keep our Wicks trimmed and our oil full and our lamps.
- 45:09Let's burn bright for the Lord Jesus Christ and stay prayed up.
- 45:16I'll see you back here tomorrow. God bless you.
