- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast. It's Ashley
- 0:10Speaker 2: and it's Ben, and we are here. Episode two recap Ben.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Two, Episode two Recap.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Two, Episode two recap. That makes sense, so much sense.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Please don't ask me what my home's like right now.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I'm so scatterbraind It's unreal. It took me like three
- 0:35Speaker 2: hours to watch the hour and a half episode because
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm an idiot who was like, yeah, i'll watch it.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I'll watch it when I'm with the kids tomorrow. You know,
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'll have five hours to watch the one and a
- 0:49Speaker 2: half hour episode. And guess what, it took like three
- 0:52Speaker 2: hours to watch it when you're watching two kids because
- 0:55Speaker 2: I decided not to watch it last night because I
- 0:57Speaker 2: had to watch The Menanda's Brother Show till like one am.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I watched that too, you have it's kind of boring
- 1:05Speaker 3: to me? What, Yeah, I didn't think it was that great.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Wait where are you at?
- 1:09Speaker 3: I don't know, like episode five?
- 1:11Speaker 2: You're in episode five?
- 1:12Speaker 3: You're bored.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you're gonna be deeply disturbed by episode five.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I've been disturbed already. I don't think I like well, yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 3: that's why I have to watch The Golden Bachelorette to
- 1:23Speaker 3: get me. I have a great video of Jessica watching
- 1:28Speaker 3: this week's episode and she just cries a lot. She
- 1:32Speaker 3: think she finds it so sweet.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Oh, it is so sweet. These poor men in these stories,
- 1:38Speaker 2: they're heartbreaking.
- 1:41Speaker 3: It's uh, this this season so far has I mean,
- 1:46Speaker 3: I think episode one is always a hard episode to
- 1:49Speaker 3: make entertaining. I think it is kind of one of
- 1:52Speaker 3: those filler episodes, like we talk about really.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Like filler episode.
- 1:56Speaker 3: But they did a tremendous job at bringing some character
- 2:00Speaker 3: development into play, which we'll talk about some incredible group dates.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I think the quote from my wife was they've had
- 2:07Speaker 3: some really cute group dates on this episode, and I
- 2:09Speaker 3: think they did.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah. I like the group dates because you know their
- 2:13Speaker 2: personality dates there.
- 2:15Speaker 3: So great episode. Let's dive in. Let's start at the beginning.
- 2:19Speaker 3: We get a little teaser at the beginning that Mark
- 2:21Speaker 3: asks Joan in German to kiss him. This was unexpected, Ashley.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I felt like Mark was kind of going to be
- 2:29Speaker 3: a slow roller here, kind of take his time. He
- 2:32Speaker 3: would kind of emerge towards the middle of the season,
- 2:35Speaker 3: but he's diving in week one.
- 2:38Speaker 2: What are you talking about? You thought he was gonna
- 2:40Speaker 2: be slow You mean thought he thought he was gonna
- 2:41Speaker 2: be slow to make moves?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yeah, like more quiet.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I understand that, but like they want to make him
- 2:47Speaker 2: front and center because if they're not together, they want
- 2:50Speaker 2: him to be bachelor. So they're getting people on the
- 2:52Speaker 2: Mark drain super early. They're already on the drain, but
- 2:55Speaker 2: they want him to be like with the captain in
- 2:58Speaker 2: the front seat.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It's it's great that Mark is getting this treatment. And
- 3:02Speaker 3: then Matt James's mom got the treatment where like we
- 3:05Speaker 3: never saw her, I know, is that weird?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's sad. Yeah, she got a liminade night one.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Poor thing. I was actually surprised by some of the
- 3:16Speaker 2: eliminations in this episode because they were faces that we knew,
- 3:19Speaker 2: do you know what I mean? Like usually an episode two,
- 3:22Speaker 2: you're still eliminating faces that we don't really know. But
- 3:25Speaker 2: these guys were doing and they were sweet. But anyway,
- 3:27Speaker 2: we'll go, we'll get there eventually. First we'll start with
- 3:30Speaker 2: the group date actually with Mark the Marquis. Why did
- 3:34Speaker 2: they have to have I don't think they had to
- 3:36Speaker 2: tease the Marcus.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I think it just brought us into the episode, okay,
- 3:41Speaker 3: because they like doing that now right, yeah, okay, all right,
- 3:46Speaker 3: Well then we get.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Into the episode Group Date. First Group day has Gary, Bob, Jonathan,
- 3:51Speaker 2: Charles l Mark, Jordan, Guy, and Keith and they are
- 3:56Speaker 2: going to prom. This was a cute group. This was
- 4:00Speaker 2: a cute date idea could.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Have been awkward. I think when it was announced, I
- 4:06Speaker 3: felt like, oh, this is going to be a really
- 4:09Speaker 3: awkward date for all of them. It's going to be
- 4:11Speaker 3: like kind of forced fun. But it wasn't. The guys
- 4:15Speaker 3: made the most of it, and I think a lot
- 4:16Speaker 3: of it has to do with the personalities of the
- 4:18Speaker 3: people on date. I think these guys dove in and
- 4:22Speaker 3: they added this their uniqueness to this prom and then
- 4:26Speaker 3: also we got some personal stories based on prom. Some
- 4:30Speaker 3: people stood out to me during this date, maybe unexpectedly,
- 4:34Speaker 3: was Charles l. That is a guy that just didn't
- 4:38Speaker 3: absolutely yeah he can really get you, can't he?
- 4:41Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, gracious, guys, now something bet By saying
- 4:45Speaker 2: goodness gracious, this guy is so freaking adorable, and like
- 4:49Speaker 2: they're not going to end up together and I'm so
- 4:53Speaker 2: sad about that, Like I'm sad that he's not going
- 4:57Speaker 2: to get as far as this man's soul deserves to get.
- 5:00Speaker 2: All I want is this for this man to find
- 5:03Speaker 2: an amazing second love of his life if that's what
- 5:06Speaker 2: he really wants. Oh, his wife was his first and
- 5:11Speaker 2: only girlfriend. He was her first and only boyfriend. And oh,
- 5:17Speaker 2: he's just a sweet, sweet man.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It would be awesome if we thought there's a chance
- 5:22Speaker 3: that Charles L could be the next Bachelor, But as
- 5:24Speaker 3: you're saying, we kind of feel like Mark, if he's
- 5:27Speaker 3: not with Joan, has already kind of taken that role.
- 5:31Speaker 3: But like the Charles L's of the world are the
- 5:33Speaker 3: people that we just watch and we're like, you're just
- 5:37Speaker 3: it's just fun to see you. Like you're just a
- 5:39Speaker 3: pure spirit. You're a good human and you're sweet and
- 5:44Speaker 3: this is such a thing that you're out of your
- 5:46Speaker 3: comfort zone on, but you've decided to do it. And
- 5:49Speaker 3: as a result, I have so much just respect for
- 5:52Speaker 3: the courage that you've shown. I want Charles L to
- 5:55Speaker 3: be celebrated.
- 5:57Speaker 2: He has such a sweetheart. Sitting watching him so on
- 6:00Speaker 2: the bleachers by himself goodness. But then he said it
- 6:04Speaker 2: was like the best time he's had in sixties when.
- 6:08Speaker 3: He called his daughter and he said, I forget her name,
- 6:11Speaker 3: but he goes, this is your dad. I was like, oh,
- 6:14Speaker 3: he has to say. How sweet was that conversation? It's
- 6:18Speaker 3: just all of it was sweet with Charles l totally.
- 6:21Speaker 2: The other standout during this episode is of course Jonathan,
- 6:26Speaker 2: who gets the group date Rose and he shares this
- 6:29Speaker 2: story about he was wow, he was the only person
- 6:33Speaker 2: of color at his high school and he was always
- 6:38Speaker 2: like not super, not really popular, never felt like he
- 6:43Speaker 2: fit in. He never had like a girl's attention, and
- 6:47Speaker 2: like you look at him and you're like, how did
- 6:48Speaker 2: you not have a girl's attention? We know that you
- 6:51Speaker 2: were definitely a stud, but you know it was a
- 6:54Speaker 2: different time which and you know.
- 6:57Speaker 3: We saw his high school picture. He's definitely blossomed. He
- 7:00Speaker 3: was like a skinny little high schooler. But now he's
- 7:02Speaker 3: just like he looks like he could be on the
- 7:05Speaker 3: regular Bachelorette. He's like that good looking now.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, seriously, And his prom date been initially said yes
- 7:16Speaker 2: and then in a classic like sitcom scenario, stands him
- 7:22Speaker 2: up pretty much says changes her mind, and then he
- 7:26Speaker 2: sat home during prom. It's really like a rom comm story.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it was good that he got the Rose.
- 7:36Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of guys there who gave
- 7:38Speaker 3: it their best effort who definitely could have gotten that
- 7:41Speaker 3: date Rose, but Jonathan deserved it, and I do think
- 7:47Speaker 3: I could see a future between the two of them. Oh,
- 7:49Speaker 3: do have good chemistry. Yeah. I even think if we're
- 7:53Speaker 3: going to like fast forward a little bit and we
- 7:54Speaker 3: look at the previews for the rest of the season,
- 7:56Speaker 3: it feels like Jonathan's around a while based on how
- 7:59Speaker 3: much he's kind of in those previews, so makes sense
- 8:03Speaker 3: on why he got that group date Rose. This date, though, overall,
- 8:09Speaker 3: showed these guys' personalities in the best of ways. We
- 8:13Speaker 3: love Goldie. He is absolutely awesome, huge personality, really sweet.
- 8:22Speaker 3: The way Gary yeah but they call she calls him Goldie, right.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, just wanted to make sure.
- 8:29Speaker 3: That the yeah yeah, she calls him Goldie. The way
- 8:32Speaker 3: he responded to the gift that she later gave him
- 8:35Speaker 3: from prom shows his like his side of gratefulness. I'm
- 8:42Speaker 3: really enjoying Ashley. The chemistry amongst the men me too.
- 8:46Speaker 3: They're so fun, like they have to fix the sink
- 8:48Speaker 3: and stuff. Yeah, but like they're competitive like they all
- 8:52Speaker 3: want time with Joan, they all like Joan, but yet
- 8:53Speaker 3: they're all respectful of each other in the sense of
- 8:58Speaker 3: they let people be who they want to be, and
- 9:01Speaker 3: they kind of celebrate that. It's really fun to see
- 9:04Speaker 3: the dynamics at play kind of in the house. I've
- 9:09Speaker 3: loved just watching that side of this as well. A
- 9:11Speaker 3: bunch of sixty year old men hanging out inside of
- 9:13Speaker 3: a bachelor mansion, which brings me to the next point.
- 9:15Speaker 3: When you're sixty years old, obviously you have health stuff,
- 9:18Speaker 3: and we talk about that during this episode, but you
- 9:20Speaker 3: also snore. And there's a big segment where we see
- 9:22Speaker 3: all the guys napping because nobody can get sleep because
- 9:25Speaker 3: Greg is snoring throughout the night. I think this is awesome.
- 9:29Speaker 3: When was the last time that these men shared a
- 9:31Speaker 3: room with this many other men and now they're having
- 9:34Speaker 3: to sleep beside each other. I think it's hilarious.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Yeah, as the Navy captain said, it's been like twenty years.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so good, so.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Funny, and I yeah, I love the guy camaraderiates. And
- 9:46Speaker 2: then there is Pascal and he was needing his own
- 9:50Speaker 2: closet because he and he was trying to pay the
- 9:53Speaker 2: guys one hundred dollars to do a load of laundry.
- 9:56Speaker 2: This guy's so bougie. It's like, is he just like
- 9:59Speaker 2: he seems? It's like you're token hired actor who's not
- 10:02Speaker 2: a hired actor, but he's like that one from the season.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Well, he admits it, right, he admits that he is
- 10:09Speaker 3: like high maintenance. He says, I am high maintenance. I
- 10:12Speaker 3: want to know though, if pascal Is doesn't do his
- 10:16Speaker 3: own laundry because he's so wealthy that he doesn't need
- 10:19Speaker 3: to think. So Okay, yeah, I want to know history,
- 10:23Speaker 3: then I want to know more about it.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I think this guy like owns a really well to
- 10:28Speaker 2: do salon.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Good for him. Yeah, what a deal. There's there's so
- 10:33Speaker 3: many like fun backstories that will never get based on
- 10:36Speaker 3: career pass and kind of what they do for a
- 10:38Speaker 3: living in this house. One of the guys that stands
- 10:42Speaker 3: out is obviously the one that gets the one on
- 10:43Speaker 3: one chalk Chalk goes to the happiest place on Earth.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Immediately we shouted Disneyland, no questions asked, and I'm so
- 10:53Speaker 3: glad they went there.
- 11:04Speaker 2: It was a cute date, fun date. She just wanted
- 11:06Speaker 2: him to prove that he was fun. The first half
- 11:10Speaker 2: of the day was like a little bit boring to me.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I was like, all right, here they go like they're
- 11:14Speaker 2: riding the rides and having a good time. It didn't
- 11:16Speaker 2: really prove anything to me. But they're during the one
- 11:19Speaker 2: on one again like it's just like another horribly sad story.
- 11:23Speaker 2: He got married, his marriage last for twelve years, the
- 11:27Speaker 2: mother of his children, and then like that just dissipated.
- 11:30Speaker 2: And then he met Kathy who he's with her nine
- 11:33Speaker 2: years until she got an awful form of what I
- 11:38Speaker 2: think is brain cancer and she passed away five months
- 11:41Speaker 2: after her diagnosis, and just so sad. She died in
- 11:48Speaker 2: his arms, and they just bonded over, you know, losing
- 11:53Speaker 2: the loves of their lives, and it happened, happening so quickly.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Jock sounds like Peyton Manning when he talks. That's what
- 12:01Speaker 3: I originally thought about chockad.
- 12:05Speaker 2: That was in my notes to talk about today.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Oh he does. He sounds just like bread Man.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Exactly like it. But it's funny, You're like a Peyton's
- 12:13Speaker 2: voice coming out of another face is so different because
- 12:18Speaker 2: like Peyton's like goofy face goes along with his like
- 12:22Speaker 2: kind of goofy voice. Yeah, and with Chock it's just different.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Chalk is really I think somebody that I could see
- 12:31Speaker 3: Joan ending up with. He seems carrying and stable. Obviously
- 12:35Speaker 3: he can relate on a lot of the stories that
- 12:38Speaker 3: Joan has. They enjoy some similar hobbies like fishing that
- 12:42Speaker 3: comes out during this date. It feels like Chalk is
- 12:47Speaker 3: one of those guys that you watch on screen right
- 12:50Speaker 3: now and you're like, he's either gonna end up with
- 12:51Speaker 3: Joan or it's gonna be one of those breakups that
- 12:54Speaker 3: like we don't see coming, because I do think their
- 12:57Speaker 3: connection is strong. Like four, I think he's easily top four.
- 13:02Speaker 3: In fact, I think the top four got revealed to
- 13:04Speaker 3: me during this episode, which I'll tell you about at
- 13:07Speaker 3: the very end.
- 13:07Speaker 2: But the next one. Okay, So the second group day
- 13:11Speaker 2: is the Talent Show date, and this was fun. Talent
- 13:15Speaker 2: Show is way more fun when it's with the Golden
- 13:18Speaker 2: With the Golden peeps, I agree, this is like so
- 13:22Speaker 2: much better and there's never it's like a lot less
- 13:25Speaker 2: awkward and a lot less competitive. They're just joking around.
- 13:30Speaker 2: What are some of the standout performances for you outside
- 13:35Speaker 2: of Dan, who of course did the the ribbon dancing
- 13:38Speaker 2: to kind of mask his tremors.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, I think it's it was amazing, uh to see.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I don't know who did it. I think it's Charles
- 13:48Speaker 3: k punched through the board and just sock Greg in
- 13:52Speaker 3: the stomach. I mean, if you watch, when you watch
- 13:54Speaker 3: on a replay, like he really did absolutely pound Greg
- 13:58Speaker 3: in the stomach. It was a to see that. Also,
- 14:01Speaker 3: I just appreciated the guys confidence I would be one
- 14:07Speaker 3: of the guys and I had a talent show on
- 14:09Speaker 3: it was Caitlin's season, or maybe even was my Bachelor
- 14:12Speaker 3: season one of these.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I think it was your Bachelor season.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And I don't have like a distinct talent to show
- 14:18Speaker 3: off on a stage. I don't, and that's okay. I
- 14:21Speaker 3: was kind of anxious about it back then. I think
- 14:24Speaker 3: we talked about it, but I just don't have one
- 14:26Speaker 3: that could be done in front of people and impress them.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And so, you know, I remember at the time when
- 14:33Speaker 3: that was told to us that we were doing a
- 14:34Speaker 3: tele show, I was like, well, I just got to
- 14:35Speaker 3: go out there and do my best and be confident.
- 14:38Speaker 3: These guys, even though a lot of them didn't have
- 14:40Speaker 3: a talent that stood out necessarily, they just showed confidence.
- 14:43Speaker 3: They either sung, they did a poem, they did the
- 14:46Speaker 3: yo yo. I could have done a yoyo. I thought
- 14:48Speaker 3: everybody could do a yoyo, But maybe a yoyo is
- 14:50Speaker 3: that impressive. I like the juggler who couldn't even juggle.
- 14:53Speaker 3: He got through one, like one round and then it
- 14:55Speaker 3: fell and everybody's like, yeah, like that's what it's all about,
- 14:59Speaker 3: get up there on stage and do.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Something so true. But ben they're also able to get
- 15:05Speaker 2: away with it because of their age. Because if a
- 15:08Speaker 2: twenty if a twenty eight year old guy got up
- 15:10Speaker 2: and he was trying to juggle and he didn't do
- 15:13Speaker 2: it well or like chose that as is his talent,
- 15:16Speaker 2: I feel like people would be like just less see
- 15:19Speaker 2: less humor in it. They'd be like, oh, he was
- 15:21Speaker 2: being lazy, he didn't come with something else.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Perhaps maybe I think it's just how you present it,
- 15:26Speaker 3: and these guys know how to present it. I mean,
- 15:28Speaker 3: this is a big deal to him. It's their first
- 15:30Speaker 3: group date, there's a live audience. They're obviously still nervous.
- 15:34Speaker 3: No matter how old you get, you still have nerves.
- 15:37Speaker 3: And they just say you know what, We're gonna make
- 15:38Speaker 3: the most of it, and I think that's actually incredible.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Well, Dan says I'm not nervous actually when he gets up,
- 15:44Speaker 2: but he says, my hands are shaking, and that's because
- 15:47Speaker 2: I have a tremor. And you could tell that Joan
- 15:50Speaker 2: was nervous when she saw his hand shaking, like she
- 15:53Speaker 2: felt so bad. She either thought that he had a
- 15:57Speaker 2: disability that you know that makes your hands tremor, or
- 16:02Speaker 2: that he was that nervous. Either way, she was concerned
- 16:05Speaker 2: for him. But he had a really good sense of
- 16:08Speaker 2: humor about it, sure, and that you know, made him
- 16:11Speaker 2: shine so much so that he gets the nighttime date.
- 16:14Speaker 2: And then we have another sad story.
- 16:16Speaker 3: We do, and I mean it's kind of going to
- 16:17Speaker 3: be I think a theme as the Golden Like franchise
- 16:21Speaker 3: continues is each season we're going to have these moments
- 16:23Speaker 3: of a lot of joy and laughter and brilliance along
- 16:28Speaker 3: with kind of this balancing act of real stories that
- 16:33Speaker 3: affect real humans. That's probably why I enjoy it so much,
- 16:37Speaker 3: is because it feels like we're getting real stories from
- 16:39Speaker 3: real humans who have you know, shown some courage in
- 16:43Speaker 3: getting out there and going on national television. Even if
- 16:45Speaker 3: it's just to go home in week one, They've done it,
- 16:48Speaker 3: and I think that's a big deal. Dan obviously has
- 16:52Speaker 3: a story. Also, it's not unexpected, you know, from from
- 16:56Speaker 3: these men. They're obviously there for a reason. But I
- 17:00Speaker 3: Dan stands out because Dan has this way of communicating Ashley,
- 17:05Speaker 3: and it feels it feels like he would sit in
- 17:09Speaker 3: a like a kind of like an executive position at
- 17:11Speaker 3: his work because he talks. He talks like with this
- 17:15Speaker 3: kind of quiet confidence and he kind of is listening
- 17:18Speaker 3: and curious, which oftentimes I think the best executives do right.
- 17:23Speaker 3: They ask a lot of questions. They don't jump to assumptions.
- 17:26Speaker 3: They don't, you know, tell you what you should be
- 17:28Speaker 3: feeling or thinking. And then when I sat there and
- 17:31Speaker 3: listened to Joan and Dan talk, I was like, this
- 17:33Speaker 3: guy knows how to talk like, he just knows how
- 17:35Speaker 3: to communicate.
- 17:36Speaker 2: He's like you, He's you a golden form.
- 17:40Speaker 3: He has better hair than me, much more so.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Than Gary was. Because I know that you got like
- 17:45Speaker 2: compared to Gary is because like he held the role
- 17:48Speaker 2: of golden bachelorette similarly to the way that you held
- 17:51Speaker 2: the role as bachelor.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think Dan is gonna Dan is
- 17:56Speaker 3: another one kind of like Chalk, where I put Dan
- 17:58Speaker 3: and Chalk about side by side.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Of Both of these guys are people that really stood
- 18:02Speaker 2: out to us last week. I agree, because of their communication.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yeah, they just they talk kind of like Mark does,
- 18:09Speaker 3: with this quiet confidence, and I think that's something to notice.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Maybe that's just the thing that you develop as you
- 18:14Speaker 3: get older. You've had enough, you know, interaction with people
- 18:18Speaker 3: that you kind of understand how people operate, and you
- 18:20Speaker 3: kind of understand how that what people need in communication,
- 18:24Speaker 3: and so you start to learn how to do it well.
- 18:27Speaker 3: But all three of those guys, also Goldie, those four
- 18:32Speaker 3: guys to me really kind of communicate with this quiet
- 18:36Speaker 3: confidence that stands out amongst the rest.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, those are some good names. That's a
- 18:43Speaker 2: good top four or five that you just mentioned. So
- 18:56Speaker 2: Dan gets the rose, leads us to the party, which
- 19:01Speaker 2: this week is gonna be a barbecue at the mansion,
- 19:03Speaker 2: a lot less dramatic than the barbecues that happened on
- 19:05Speaker 2: the main show. Again, I always feel like the barbecue
- 19:09Speaker 2: or the pool party is always the most dramatic of
- 19:12Speaker 2: the cocktail parties, and this is really not. Things that
- 19:16Speaker 2: stand out again is Goldie, He's gonna get his picture here.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And then Mark's kiss, which, by the way, and I'm
- 19:24Speaker 2: not doing this. I'm not saying this because of me
- 19:26Speaker 2: being a Mark stand but because her other kisses with
- 19:31Speaker 2: the other guys are like very casual sometimes like she'll
- 19:36Speaker 2: just do it in front of the other men and
- 19:38Speaker 2: it's just like a you know, like close mouth all that.
- 19:43Speaker 2: With her kiss with Mark, it was a liplock that
- 19:47Speaker 2: was like a kiss that was like a romantic kiss,
- 19:49Speaker 2: you know it. Don't look at me like that.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I mean, I think she's had some good kisses. She
- 19:54Speaker 3: did kiss a couple guys this episode. I do think
- 19:57Speaker 3: that's something to know. I I have really enjoyed seeing
- 20:03Speaker 3: Joan carry the role as a Golden bachelorette because I
- 20:06Speaker 3: do think not only I mean Jess can I said
- 20:09Speaker 3: it last night like the ladies gorgeous, but she also
- 20:14Speaker 3: navigates this process so far very well, and she is
- 20:19Speaker 3: allowing the relationship to open up to a certain physical level,
- 20:23Speaker 3: which is you know, to show you know, romance through kissing.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I think all these kisses meant something. I do think
- 20:30Speaker 3: Marks would see.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Romantic to you Okay, fine, then.
- 20:37Speaker 3: To you.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Joan, now call her up and ask her.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I do might disagree with you a little bit. I
- 20:45Speaker 3: think this show is going to be lacking in drama,
- 20:48Speaker 3: which is fine with me, which is actually something I prefer.
- 20:52Speaker 3: And one of one of the things that I think
- 20:56Speaker 3: they tried to do was make this cookout with the
- 21:01Speaker 3: whole burger situation and how all these They have too
- 21:04Speaker 3: many leaders in this group, too many people who have
- 21:07Speaker 3: grilled for their families for too many years and cook
- 21:09Speaker 3: for themselves for too many years. They have too many
- 21:11Speaker 3: people who are leaders in their own worlds. And they
- 21:15Speaker 3: come into this house and now they have to share
- 21:17Speaker 3: this space, and you have to see them start to
- 21:19Speaker 3: navigate maybe having their like what they've implemented as what
- 21:25Speaker 3: they want in life not happen. And I think that's
- 21:27Speaker 3: gonna be a really fun thing. It's not going to
- 21:29Speaker 3: cause drama amongst the others. I think it's going to
- 21:31Speaker 3: cause internal drama within themselves to go. I like it
- 21:36Speaker 3: this way. I like to sleep in a room with
- 21:38Speaker 3: a night machine. I like to sleep naked. I like
- 21:40Speaker 3: the air to be sixty six degrees. I like my
- 21:43Speaker 3: burgers medium. Well, I don't want barbecue sauce on them.
- 21:46Speaker 3: All these things that they've created to be the right
- 21:48Speaker 3: and wrong way of doing life. Now you're gonna have
- 21:50Speaker 3: to see them start to separate from that, and I
- 21:52Speaker 3: think that's gonna be fun to watch.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Is there something that's like very like a sociologist would
- 21:59Speaker 2: comment on them that the women like women like women
- 22:02Speaker 2: on The Golden Bachelor. They're more communal, you know, when
- 22:06Speaker 2: one has a baby. It's like the village, you know,
- 22:08Speaker 2: back in the tribal days, and whereas like men could
- 22:11Speaker 2: go out and hunter, gather more by themselves, and like, yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 2: so when women are put together in that group at
- 22:20Speaker 2: this age especially, it just seems very comfortable, whereas men
- 22:23Speaker 2: are like, we've done this solo for quite some time.
- 22:27Speaker 2: We've been the heads of the house.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I also wonder, I wonder, I don't know, I wonder
- 22:31Speaker 3: if you know, the women are so used to nurturing
- 22:34Speaker 3: and caring for that you know, they also like to
- 22:38Speaker 3: be nurtured and cared for, and so this is a
- 22:40Speaker 3: moment where you know, like last season, Susan can cook
- 22:43Speaker 3: for everybody and everybody can just sit and laugh and
- 22:45Speaker 3: like drink wine and enjoy it and Susan's carrying the role,
- 22:48Speaker 3: and everybody's happy to have her carry that role because
- 22:51Speaker 3: they want to be like, you know, they've cared for
- 22:53Speaker 3: everybody else their whole life, but it's nice to be
- 22:55Speaker 3: cared for yourself. Where these men kind of have this
- 22:58Speaker 3: like no, I know how to do it my way
- 23:01Speaker 3: kind of like mentality, and they've done it their way
- 23:04Speaker 3: when they want to do it their way, and now
- 23:06Speaker 3: they're getting that ripped away from them, especially when it
- 23:08Speaker 3: comes around to grill. I think a grill is a
- 23:11Speaker 3: really good place for men to start to have disagreements
- 23:14Speaker 3: because typically the men have very strong opinions on how
- 23:19Speaker 3: to grill the right ray, right way, or the wrong way.
- 23:23Speaker 2: That's so funny, Yeah, you might be right totally. Any
- 23:27Speaker 2: other standout moments from the barbecue, it's like.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Jack, I'm sad Jack's gone. He's obviously leaving us.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Jack.
- 23:33Speaker 3: I thought he was a good energy and a really
- 23:35Speaker 3: positive spirit in the house. I thought he had a
- 23:37Speaker 3: lot of fun at the house. I thought he was
- 23:39Speaker 3: soaking it every moment at the house. There's no other
- 23:42Speaker 3: big standout moments of the barbecue for me, other than
- 23:46Speaker 3: the fact that there is obviously a uniform this season.
- 23:50Speaker 3: The uniform is khakis with a tuckting golf shirt and
- 23:54Speaker 3: brand new tennis shoes of whatever kind that is showing
- 23:57Speaker 3: up at every scene of every episode. I think that's great.
- 24:01Speaker 2: That is so funny.
- 24:02Speaker 3: The only thing I wanted to bring up to you
- 24:03Speaker 3: astulely that I wanted to get your thoughts on. I
- 24:05Speaker 3: don't even know his name, but The Bachelor had said
- 24:09Speaker 3: that they're going to cut Bill Gil out of this series.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Yeah, he was more actually in the episode.
- 24:17Speaker 3: A lot more than some.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like, are we getting is our advanced copy
- 24:22Speaker 2: not edited or something? Because I thought that he had.
- 24:25Speaker 3: A role, you know, Okay, are we getting bamboozled? Here
- 24:28Speaker 3: is my question? Now here's what could have happened in
- 24:31Speaker 3: my mind. Yeah, is this show was already edited and
- 24:35Speaker 3: put to press before this came out, like last week
- 24:40Speaker 3: they didn't have so like maybe in future episodes we'll
- 24:44Speaker 3: see that. But I was surprised to see him have
- 24:45Speaker 3: this one on one moment with Joanes shown, But I
- 24:50Speaker 3: do I would imagine that this episode was already out
- 24:53Speaker 3: there before this all came to light.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Thanks, Yeah, so you guys, if you aren't aware,
- 25:01Speaker 2: Gil was actually served a restraining order. Between the time
- 25:05Speaker 2: of him getting his background checked during casting weekend to
- 25:09Speaker 2: the start of the show actually filming, he was really
- 25:15Speaker 2: communicating a ton with this woman and it was getting
- 25:20Speaker 2: obsessive and yeah, so she got this on him. And
- 25:25Speaker 2: then he went on the show, and we know that
- 25:30Speaker 2: they wanted to cut down some of his episodes. They
- 25:33Speaker 2: said that he doesn't really play a huge role. He
- 25:35Speaker 2: did get this conversation where he told Joan about how
- 25:39Speaker 2: his wife passed away in twenty nineteen, and that was obviously,
- 25:44Speaker 2: it was so sad and I was like feeling for
- 25:46Speaker 2: the guy. And then they showed his name underneath after
- 25:49Speaker 2: the conversation. I was like, that's Gil. And then you
- 25:54Speaker 2: just think, how was this man like with his wife
- 25:58Speaker 2: and then a couple years later stalking another woman. Is
- 26:01Speaker 2: this like a behavior that is just out of grief
- 26:07Speaker 2: or am I giving him too much credit? Or is
- 26:09Speaker 2: this just something to think about.
- 26:10Speaker 3: I was just shocked to see him. I think we'd
- 26:13Speaker 3: see him at all, but yeah we did. He was
- 26:14Speaker 3: there more than the others. Yeah, that was a moment
- 26:17Speaker 3: that stood out to me. Now we'll talk about the
- 26:19Speaker 3: guys going home before we talk about who we think
- 26:22Speaker 3: will be in the final four. After our two weeks
- 26:25Speaker 3: of knowing these guys, Michael, Jack, Christopher, and Bob are
- 26:29Speaker 3: sent home. I think there are some surprises here, maybe
- 26:33Speaker 3: even with all of them. We didn't get to see
- 26:36Speaker 3: a lot of Bob. I liked Bob. I thought Bob
- 26:39Speaker 3: was like a really sweet man, but we just need
- 26:42Speaker 3: to see a lot of him. But we did get
- 26:44Speaker 3: to know Michael, Jack and Christopher quite a bit. Maybe
- 26:48Speaker 3: that's just the element of the show is we'll get
- 26:49Speaker 3: to know the characters a little better than we do
- 26:51Speaker 3: on the other You know, during the Bachelor and Bachelorette,
- 26:57Speaker 3: I would like to call him surprises, but I don't
- 26:58Speaker 3: know who else you would have sent home.
- 27:01Speaker 2: There was a couple in there. I don't feel that
- 27:03Speaker 2: she has a lot of chemistry with guy. He was
- 27:06Speaker 2: towards the end of the rose ceremony.
- 27:08Speaker 3: See, I think she has a lot of chemistry with guy.
- 27:11Speaker 2: You do. Oh yeah, I'm just so off here. Okay, Well,
- 27:16Speaker 2: I thought that Christopher leaving was a shock out of
- 27:18Speaker 2: this bunch. I thought Bob leaving was also a little shocked,
- 27:22Speaker 2: just because, like we knew their faces and they had
- 27:25Speaker 2: really sweet demeanors. Michael I was like, whatever on Jack.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I think we're sad just as viewers to lose Jack.
- 27:34Speaker 2: But yeah, they didn't have anything. My sister was like,
- 27:37Speaker 2: Jack is the kind of guy that I wish they
- 27:39Speaker 2: had a golden paradise for.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Oh gosh, how much would he love? How much would
- 27:44Speaker 3: he love the Golden paradise? Yeah, he would absolutely thrive.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he was created for it, so was you know
- 27:53Speaker 2: Kathy getting from her season. There's a couple.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Think about those two together dating goodness great.
- 28:01Speaker 2: We might actually need a Golden paradise, except for it
- 28:04Speaker 2: would need to be like, not in a tropical location.
- 28:07Speaker 2: It would need to be in the mountains or something.
- 28:10Speaker 2: It would need to have winter winter games vibes.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Yeah, or like Florida where they all live. Already Florida
- 28:16Speaker 3: would be hilarious too, just like a nice little cond.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Have a compound of condos.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I would love to see Jack and Cathy. I'm gonna
- 28:25Speaker 3: ship that Jack and Kathy together. Can you imagine the conversations?
- 28:31Speaker 2: It would be unreal? Well, first off, they would be
- 28:34Speaker 2: really just talking out loud to themselves, but be sitting
- 28:38Speaker 2: next to each other. Hannah Hannah, our producer, goes you
- 28:41Speaker 2: don't want to see grannies and bikinis. I would be
- 28:44Speaker 2: down for that.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Who said, so, don't put words in my mouth.
- 28:48Speaker 2: You want to see grandma's and bikinis?
- 28:50Speaker 3: Ben, I don't know if it's something I want, but
- 28:52Speaker 3: I'm down to watch it.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I'm down to watch it too. But I'm sure that
- 28:55Speaker 2: they would love to be in sweaters. Yeah, and it
- 28:58Speaker 2: would be cool to have like a whole different five and.
- 29:00Speaker 3: We can bring back the one piece like it's fine. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:04Speaker 3: I mean it has to be for any but anybody
- 29:07Speaker 3: that I know over seventy sixty five seventy For them
- 29:11Speaker 3: to be a bathing suit, it has to be ninety degrees.
- 29:13Speaker 3: So as long as we keep it seventy five, they're
- 29:14Speaker 3: still wearing long sleeves.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Do you know that my mom who you know, like
- 29:18Speaker 2: my mom is like the really hottest sixty six year
- 29:20Speaker 2: old woman you can. Can you believe my mom's sixty six?
- 29:22Speaker 2: It's like insane. I treat her like she's also forty six.
- 29:26Speaker 2: You know, I'm with thinking, like why are you tired?
- 29:29Speaker 2: You know, after a day with the kids, Like you're
- 29:32Speaker 2: forty six, and it's like, oh crap, you're sixty six.
- 29:36Speaker 2: My mom has a Warner bathing suit in like ten
- 29:37Speaker 2: to fifteen years. She's so ridiculous.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Is that a personal choice?
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yes?
- 29:42Speaker 3: Oh? Is that going?
- 29:43Speaker 2: We have a pool in the backyard. She like hasn't
- 29:44Speaker 2: gotten into it for twenty years. Oh that's unfortnately very
- 29:47Speaker 2: conservative lady.
- 29:49Speaker 3: All right, So who's your top four, Ashley? I want
- 29:52Speaker 3: to hear it.
- 29:53Speaker 2: I don't think we have much of a different top four,
- 29:55Speaker 2: so this might be a little bit boring. It's Mark,
- 29:58Speaker 2: It's Jonathan Shock and and and Dan, so guys that
- 30:08Speaker 2: were very much highlighted during this this episode.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I'm gonna go Mark, Chalk Guy and Dan.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I am not I do not know what I'm missing
- 30:19Speaker 2: from the guy thing, but I'm obviously missing it.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I think you're missing it.
- 30:24Speaker 2: What if he wasn't a doctor? Would you put him
- 30:26Speaker 2: in there?
- 30:26Speaker 3: I don't even I didn't even know he was a doctor. Okay,
- 30:29Speaker 3: so yeah, I think they just have something. Okay, just wait,
- 30:33Speaker 3: just wait. This has been another amazing episode. Don't need
- 30:36Speaker 3: to say a lot about Joan. She's thriving in this role.
- 30:39Speaker 3: She was made for this role. It feels like Joan.
- 30:43Speaker 3: I will say that Joan has blossomed. I don't know
- 30:45Speaker 3: if this will be a critique, this will be taking
- 30:48Speaker 3: the wrong way. I know Joan listens to this. Joan
- 30:51Speaker 3: is more attractive now than she was in high.
- 30:55Speaker 2: School, oh, one hundred thousand percent. And I was thinking
- 30:59Speaker 2: about that last episode when they were showing old pictures
- 31:02Speaker 2: of her and her husband together. I'm like, why is
- 31:05Speaker 2: this woman getting hotter with age?
- 31:07Speaker 3: Like, yeah, way, what's happening? What's happening here? I will
- 31:11Speaker 3: say that, but Jones thriving. She does, navigates the conversations well,
- 31:15Speaker 3: she brings out the best in these guys. The stories
- 31:17Speaker 3: are being told, the questions are being asked, the romance
- 31:20Speaker 3: is there and exist, and I think all of these
- 31:22Speaker 3: guys are just absolutely smitten with her. Their heads turn
- 31:26Speaker 3: every time she walks around. They get giddy every time
- 31:29Speaker 3: she walks into a room. I absolutely think Joan is
- 31:35Speaker 3: the perfect choice for the Golden Bachelor.
- 31:37Speaker 2: But it really was. Yeah, you could not get better
- 31:40Speaker 2: at the role.
- 31:41Speaker 3: No, she's great for it.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Unless it would be like an actual Hollywood actress, you
- 31:44Speaker 2: know what I mean? They found her. I think she's
- 31:47Speaker 2: even better Chevy Chase Maryland, and she's just perfection.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Yeah, good people come from Maryland. Hey, until next week
- 31:55Speaker 3: when we break down another episode of the Golden Bachelorette,
- 31:59Speaker 3: make sure you continue to follow us because we have
- 32:01Speaker 3: a lot of content coming your way. We have headlines,
- 32:03Speaker 3: we have a special episode with question and answers for
- 32:05Speaker 3: Ashley and myself. Will continue to do breaking news as
- 32:09Speaker 3: it comes out. And then also obviously we're breaking down
- 32:12Speaker 3: every episode of the Golden Bachelorette. But a big announcement
- 32:16Speaker 3: is we have Joey and Jenna from Dancing with the Stars.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Joey obviously our last bachelor. We have them on this
- 32:22Speaker 3: week as well. So much coming your way, so much
- 32:26Speaker 3: to do, so much we're excited about.
- 32:28Speaker 2: And Noah and Abigail for their pre wedding interview, and
- 32:32Speaker 2: we talk good, juicy stuff with Noah about his brother
- 32:36Speaker 2: Aaron and his stint on the Bachelorette.
- 32:39Speaker 3: How in the world do we have so much time
- 32:40Speaker 3: to talk to so many people? Well, until next time,
- 32:43Speaker 3: I've been Ben, I've.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Been Ashley SIA.
