- 0:00Speaker 1: This episode deals with sexual assault and violence, and we
- 0:03Speaker 1: are going to put graphic on the screen of resources
- 0:06Speaker 1: you can reach out to. Welcome to Brief Recess. I'm
- 0:15Speaker 1: Michael Foot Melissa Albret. Today we're going to talk about
- 0:18Speaker 1: the great City of Boston. I like, We're going to
- 0:21Speaker 1: talk about Melissa's unfiltered thoughts on picky Eaters. We're going
- 0:24Speaker 1: to talk about her mother and how she's going to
- 0:26Speaker 1: She's going to teach us how to do it like
- 0:28Speaker 1: a lady.
- 0:28Speaker 2: A lady. Wait, no, that sounds wrong, it sounds very bad.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the Nolan Wells case, which
- 0:34Speaker 1: has incredible traction online right now. And we have a
- 0:37Speaker 1: special guest, Elena Bamfield, who's a stand up comic and
- 0:40Speaker 1: has a new special out. And we're also going to
- 0:42Speaker 1: answer all your burning questions from the dm So stick around.
- 0:47Speaker 2: The migrating Killers today about migrating fillers.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the all the MAGA influencers with migrating fillers that
- 0:56Speaker 1: hate immigrants. How are you going to hate immigrants?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Your faces melted?
- 1:01Speaker 1: Why is your cheek over there without a green card?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Girl?
- 1:07Speaker 1: It's and you know it's true. These fillers are unregulated.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You know what, Let's immediately get into a sidebar about
- 1:15Speaker 1: plastic surgery.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Because what's in the fillers.
- 1:19Speaker 1: People are getting dog walked by their fillings.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Thing about it is that you could be given permission
- 1:24Speaker 3: to do fillers after taking like a course. So your dentist,
- 1:29Speaker 3: for example, whose expertise should be teeth, is now this
- 1:33Speaker 3: best side hustle is the filler. Yeah, you know, not
- 1:37Speaker 3: to say that that can't work, but I think that
- 1:40Speaker 3: when it comes to like your face, that's not the
- 1:44Speaker 3: time to look for a discount a bargain, do you know,
- 1:47Speaker 3: But do you know.
- 1:48Speaker 1: What I mean?
- 1:49Speaker 3: Like, you should not go for the cheapest version, yes,
- 1:52Speaker 3: of the.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Thing anywhere else on the body, but the face. I
- 1:55Speaker 1: mean Actually, because I'm getting my NAD injections from a
- 1:59Speaker 1: lady that I met on the internet and I've never
- 2:02Speaker 1: met her. She just mails it to my house. And
- 2:07Speaker 1: now that I think about it, these supplements are from
- 2:12Speaker 1: someone that don't know, but they come from she orders them.
- 2:16Speaker 1: She's like a doctor. But they come from a pharmacy.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I think it says pharmacy on it.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I could do that. I could make you well, I
- 2:26Speaker 2: could scrapatize you a label. Right now, you.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Know, but it's working. It feels great. I love the
- 2:32Speaker 1: NED injections they're doing.
- 2:34Speaker 2: What do they do for you? I'm not really sure.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So you know how we sort of joke.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Around a lot that, you know, we think that we
- 2:44Speaker 3: both have really bad ADHD.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and so I think it's from the injections.
- 2:49Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, maybe so I haven't been joking. I definitely
- 2:53Speaker 3: think that I do. So this morning I was I
- 2:55Speaker 3: was listening to NPR and there was a whole segment
- 2:58Speaker 3: about how eighty usually they had based all the studies
- 3:02Speaker 3: on white little boys, right, and not really looking at
- 3:07Speaker 3: a bigger picture of encompassing boys and girls and different
- 3:11Speaker 3: races and stuff. And and what they're saying now is
- 3:15Speaker 3: a lot of women have gone undiagnosed with ADHD. It
- 3:20Speaker 3: especially like all the mechanisms that you have come up
- 3:24Speaker 3: with to sort of get you through life. When perimenopause hits,
- 3:29Speaker 3: it disintegrates, it just goes, it just goes, and like
- 3:33Speaker 3: and and of.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Course they didn't study they were like, oh, we only
- 3:36Speaker 1: studied little white boys. Were also going to expand it
- 3:39Speaker 1: to include middle grade boys who are.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Boys.
- 3:46Speaker 3: So there's a there's a woman who is should not
- 3:51Speaker 3: be a psychiatrist.
- 3:51Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 3:52Speaker 2: But anyway, she did this whole study.
- 3:54Speaker 3: She has a center and there was and I went
- 3:57Speaker 3: to the NPR thing I found it.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Okay, this is burving. You don't have ADHD honestly, the
- 4:02Speaker 1: fact that you followed because would let me switch the
- 4:04Speaker 1: radio station.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Let me tell you what I had to do though
- 4:07Speaker 3: while it was while I was listening to it, and
- 4:10Speaker 3: it resonated with me so much that I immediately texted
- 4:14Speaker 3: it to myself.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Because I do that too, because I would have forgotten
- 4:18Speaker 2: about it. Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 1: If, yes, if that's what I had to do. People
- 4:21Speaker 1: are like, oh, let's multi factor authenticate the emails. I'm like, no, MFA.
- 4:26Speaker 1: My text to myself reminders that's where the realty is,
- 4:31Speaker 1: that is where the everything's actually going down. That's where
- 4:34Speaker 1: my Social Security numbers. I'm texting it all to myself.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You know so much license, No, I have.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I memorized it, okay.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Because I memorized it because I wanted to sign up
- 4:45Speaker 1: for credit cards at the department store when I was
- 4:47Speaker 1: in my twenties.
- 4:49Speaker 2: But we all did it. We all did it.
- 4:53Speaker 3: We're all done to children. When I was in college,
- 4:56Speaker 3: I don't know if they did this to you all.
- 4:58Speaker 3: When I was in college, the the credit card companies
- 5:01Speaker 3: would come to campus, set up, set up, see got one,
- 5:06Speaker 3: set up tables and like give away, stupid free ship.
- 5:10Speaker 2: But here's a cup, here's a cup. Sign up for
- 5:13Speaker 2: this kind of credit cards a gateway drug.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yes, exactly, I cannot and I mean interest. And the
- 5:20Speaker 3: thing about it is is like people will get excited, like, yeah,
- 5:25Speaker 3: got a free toaster. I'm doing it, Michael. It wasn't
- 5:28Speaker 3: even a free toast, it was it was.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Like, oh no, And so what was your first credit card?
- 5:42Speaker 2: It was?
- 5:42Speaker 3: It was it was a city bank, like Visa or something.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're already in debt with the student loans, Yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 1: you went to college in Boston.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Oh, I thought that.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Was I just assumed there's very few things to do
- 5:55Speaker 1: in Boston, so I figured you went there for French.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So I think, Michael, I think you should speak directly
- 6:03Speaker 3: to camera and speak to the people in Boston.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I'm I'm happy to speak to anyway.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I think what you need to do, don't tell me
- 6:12Speaker 2: to apologize.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I'm going to say to you. I'm going to say
- 6:15Speaker 3: to you as your friend. Yeah, who loves you. I'm
- 6:21Speaker 3: going to say to you that you should reiterate that
- 6:25Speaker 3: your experiences in Boston have been negative because you associate
- 6:30Speaker 3: them with a toxic X, which is okay.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So I'm going to stop you right there because I
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't want to do that well and I'm not going.
- 6:41Speaker 2: To do that. So so you like this, You enjoy this.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Absolutely, This has been the joy of this is Christmas Morning.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Opening up the comment section about Boston. They got off
- 6:51Speaker 1: the TA at eleven fifty nine because a shutdown. They
- 6:53Speaker 1: went right to JP LICKX and Coolidge Corner and then
- 6:56Speaker 1: Anis Takaia and they can take all of that and
- 6:59Speaker 1: shove it, because I'm coming for you, City of Boston.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You ain't got nothing on me. You're all stuck in traffic,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you don't know how to drive. And the only reason
- 7:08Speaker 1: I'm coming to Boston I found one thing that I
- 7:10Speaker 1: would go to Boston for. There are these four dogs
- 7:13Speaker 1: that are really cute and allegedly there's a Westy Dogs
- 7:16Speaker 1: the Westiest. Yeah, that is the only thing you got
- 7:18Speaker 1: going for you, and you know it, and that's why
- 7:20Speaker 1: you're coming for me, because you ain't got nothing else
- 7:22Speaker 1: going on that you got the time to come for me,
- 7:25Speaker 1: so keep it, and I'll reiterate those four.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Dogs they're very cute.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I would actually go just for them. And there's allegedly
- 7:33Speaker 1: a fifth one. I hear that there who doesn't like
- 7:35Speaker 1: going outside.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Well, he doesn't like they don't like going out with
- 7:39Speaker 3: the other dogs. They prefer personal time. And I gotta
- 7:43Speaker 3: tell you, Westy, I feel you.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So that Boston, I'll give you the Westies because that
- 7:49Speaker 1: is very cute and idiosyncratic for that fifth dog.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Okay, Boston, next.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Time you're in line at duncan, you can come for me.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You can because next time you're cutting someone off without
- 7:59Speaker 1: the anker with your Massachusetts license plate to peel into
- 8:03Speaker 1: the dunkin to wait in the drive through line, you
- 8:06Speaker 1: can come for me. Because I'm not bothered. I'm not pressed.
- 8:10Speaker 1: My edges laying flat, My edges are my edges are bumped,
- 8:17Speaker 1: my edges are fried.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I mean your edges are non existent. Boston, you heard
- 8:24Speaker 3: me try. I tried, and again I will reiterate to
- 8:28Speaker 3: you that I have no beef with Boston. I haven't
- 8:33Speaker 3: been very many times, but you know what, Boston, come
- 8:35Speaker 3: into my dms. Give me suggestions, and I will. I'll
- 8:39Speaker 3: come visit, just.
- 8:40Speaker 1: As long as it's not food picky eater, just as
- 8:44Speaker 1: long as it's not telling Melissa how she needs to
- 8:47Speaker 1: like picky eaters. How about a picky eater in Boston.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Let's get them on the show. Where's that representation? Where's
- 8:53Speaker 1: their pride parade the Boston.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I'm sure there is, because they are the picaters are
- 9:00Speaker 2: upset with me and at the network. I don't, I
- 9:05Speaker 2: don't know what to say. I I also sort of
- 9:10Speaker 2: stand ten toes down.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You picked two stubborn tauruses to start fights with on
- 9:16Speaker 1: the internet.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I think, especially because I thought that I was clear
- 9:22Speaker 3: that you know, I understand. Oh my god, the ship
- 9:25Speaker 3: that I got. Anyway, I understand, you know what. Never mind,
- 9:30Speaker 3: I am ten toes down. I know what I meant.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I'm sorry if you don't know what I mean.
- 9:35Speaker 1: If there was a miscommunication.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I mean, I think I think I thought I was
- 9:40Speaker 3: clear when I said I am not talking about somebody
- 9:42Speaker 3: who has a diagnosis, right. People then said to me
- 9:45Speaker 3: that I don't people don't owe me a diagnosis.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Now that's that.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Is that is absolutely true. What I was really talking
- 9:54Speaker 3: about is when somebody is with me and we are
- 10:00Speaker 3: going someplace and they don't eat anything clay pasta and
- 10:06Speaker 3: chicken nuggets. That makes it difficult for me. I think
- 10:10Speaker 3: that you should be free to eat whatever you want,
- 10:14Speaker 3: whenever you want, both here with other people. Have you
- 10:18Speaker 3: ever got on vacation with the picky eater?
- 10:20Speaker 1: Well, it's spoiling down to you don't like people ordering
- 10:23Speaker 1: off the menu.
- 10:24Speaker 2: That's not at all. That's not it at all. I
- 10:27Speaker 2: don't that's not it all.
- 10:27Speaker 3: And what The other thing I really really hate is
- 10:30Speaker 3: if you are me, I am eating something and somebody
- 10:34Speaker 3: who doesn't like anything is looking at me and they're like, ill.
- 10:37Speaker 2: That makes me so mad.
- 10:39Speaker 1: That makes me that to you, oh well, we don't
- 10:45Speaker 1: listen to him.
- 10:46Speaker 3: But I mean, but the only listen to a husband,
- 10:49Speaker 3: you know, he'll not the only one like I think.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I find that so I find it really rude. I
- 10:53Speaker 2: find it so yeah, it's it is.
- 10:59Speaker 3: The What and it becomes a problem for me is
- 11:01Speaker 3: when we go someplace as a group and then there's
- 11:05Speaker 3: like the one person who's just like, I don't want
- 11:07Speaker 3: to eat this. I don't want to eat this. I
- 11:08Speaker 3: don't want to eat this. I don't want to eat this.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I don't care what you do. Go to the cheesecake factory.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I'm in no problem.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Well, the cheesecake factory. First of all, they have everything.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I've never had a bad meal the cheesecake.
- 11:20Speaker 1: And there's no ear said the cheesecake factory, because you
- 11:22Speaker 1: could get whatever you want. So if you're a picky
- 11:24Speaker 1: eater at the cheesecake factory, that's a U problem.
- 11:26Speaker 2: No you're not. There's no such thing. I don't think
- 11:28Speaker 2: there is. I think there is no.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I think you can find and if you are somebody
- 11:31Speaker 3: who eats very simply, you can.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yes, Yes, the cheesecake factory is what the UN used
- 11:35Speaker 1: to be. It's like where you would come to like
- 11:37Speaker 1: neutralize like any political situation, like I honestly think like
- 11:41Speaker 1: if we held the UN delegation now at the cheesecake factory,
- 11:46Speaker 1: like we could probably solve a lot more problems.
- 11:48Speaker 3: So I am not going to Belgium with somebody who
- 11:51Speaker 3: is going to have me on a jackass parade looking
- 11:54Speaker 3: for chicken nuggets.
- 11:57Speaker 2: That's the parade, that's what I mean. Going to hell
- 12:01Speaker 2: and gasoline panties, going to hell and ghastline with a.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Chicken finger in your hand. Let's get into algorithm is
- 12:09Speaker 1: showing because I want to ask you me if it
- 12:14Speaker 1: being a picky eater?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Is it?
- 12:15Speaker 1: Is it okay to do it? If you're doing it
- 12:16Speaker 1: like a lady.
- 12:19Speaker 2: It took me a second, Take you a minute, Just
- 12:24Speaker 2: a minute, Do it like a lady.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Do it like a lady. Friends met Melissa's mother, and I.
- 12:31Speaker 3: See my mom making comments on other people's Instagrams, and
- 12:35Speaker 3: it comes as a shock to me.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You know, when you open the comments section on an Instagram,
- 12:40Speaker 1: people at home, and you can see someone you know
- 12:42Speaker 1: commenting on like a New York Times cooking rest anything,
- 12:45Speaker 1: and sometimes I'll see you comment on it, and it's
- 12:47Speaker 1: usually just like people, you know, they bump it up
- 12:50Speaker 1: to the top so you can engage with your friend
- 12:52Speaker 1: who also commented on that CNN News circle. So Melissa
- 12:56Speaker 1: does opens up the comment section sometimes and her mother
- 12:59Speaker 1: else Magalie just.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And you know what's really funny.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I remember the comment, but I don't remember what she
- 13:06Speaker 3: was commenting about.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Okay, I remember because I saw it because she and
- 13:09Speaker 1: I follow each other. It was there was a a
- 13:13Speaker 1: woman like freaking out at a pickup at a restaurant.
- 13:16Speaker 1: She was like picking up her takeout order and was
- 13:18Speaker 1: like upset that they didn't have enough sauce in the
- 13:21Speaker 1: bag or something. They forgot something, and this woman was
- 13:25Speaker 1: crashing out. Okay, your mother commented, let's pull it up
- 13:29Speaker 1: because it's so good, and you've got to do a
- 13:30Speaker 1: dramatic greeting for us.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I have it because my mom.
- 13:33Speaker 3: The other thing is, my mom will accept anyone's friend.
- 13:38Speaker 2: We're gonna block up, We're gonna we're trying to protect
- 13:42Speaker 2: her from herself.
- 13:44Speaker 1: It's not what y'all are gonna say Ani Melissa's mom
- 13:46Speaker 1: that she's gonna accept everybody's.
- 13:49Speaker 3: My mom My mom accepted someone's friend requests randomly, and
- 13:55Speaker 3: this person started calling her, started calling her.
- 13:59Speaker 5: Through the.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Oh yes, you will do that to me sometimes.
- 14:04Speaker 3: And so my mom was this man, this man, this man,
- 14:07Speaker 3: this random man started calling me and I was like,
- 14:10Speaker 3: who is it?
- 14:10Speaker 2: She was like I don't know. I'm like, why are
- 14:12Speaker 2: your friends with him? She's like, well he requested.
- 14:14Speaker 1: It, Melissa, why are you fighting with your own mother?
- 14:16Speaker 1: And the comments on this video? You replied to her.
- 14:20Speaker 2: What did she say? Sorry?
- 14:26Speaker 3: So basically what it is is that this woman didn't
- 14:28Speaker 3: want to pay for her food right. She didn't want
- 14:32Speaker 3: to pay for her food, and she was trying to
- 14:33Speaker 3: walk out, and then the police came to arrest her,
- 14:36Speaker 3: and she was just like, are you going to arrest
- 14:38Speaker 3: me for taking food? And the officer was like, yes,
- 14:41Speaker 3: you didn't pay for it, you gotta take it. And
- 14:44Speaker 3: then I don't know what the woman said, and then
- 14:46Speaker 3: my mom says, it's probably not her first. It's probably
- 14:52Speaker 3: not her first time I pay for my food. Do
- 14:55Speaker 3: like I do like a lady?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Like a lady? Like? Do I do like a lady? So,
- 15:01Speaker 2: oh my god. So now what the other thing? It
- 15:04Speaker 2: has a lot of likes. The comment has like a
- 15:06Speaker 2: good number of likes.
- 15:07Speaker 3: But so I responded to my mother and I and
- 15:10Speaker 3: I chimed in my brother and I was just like,
- 15:14Speaker 3: take mom's phone away from her. And my cousin responded
- 15:18Speaker 3: to me, which I didn't know, and said you will not.
- 15:23Speaker 3: My other cousin responded to her and said, I'll make
- 15:27Speaker 3: sure of it.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Oh my god. So you know what the.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Whole Aitian community Asian.
- 15:33Speaker 3: All right, I'm done talking about Maglie because she's she's
- 15:36Speaker 3: out of my control. Yeah, what's been in your algorithm?
- 15:38Speaker 1: Okay, so I've been completely subsumed by videos about the
- 15:43Speaker 1: Nolan Wells case in my feed. I've watched every single
- 15:46Speaker 1: one of them that comes up. I've made some myself
- 15:49Speaker 1: because Nancy Grace entered the chat last week.
- 15:51Speaker 2: She sure did talk.
- 15:53Speaker 1: About Edges bumped with vengeance. Yes, because she is here,
- 15:57Speaker 1: her foot.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Blue eyeliner. Yeah, she's in it. No, no, no, I.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Was, but I watched is crazy, but I watched it,
- 16:05Speaker 3: and she is, I mean understandably, so right, Oh my.
- 16:08Speaker 2: God, you lived.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But I'm so glad that she's here because I've had
- 16:14Speaker 1: someone like her, and I've been following the case for
- 16:16Speaker 1: so long. This has been percolating on my feet ever
- 16:19Speaker 1: since I think it was they found his body July sixth,
- 16:22Speaker 1: So this has been but it's always been very alternative, ultraliberal,
- 16:27Speaker 1: progressive socialist accounts post posting about it. It hasn't been
- 16:32Speaker 1: mainstream media attention, which is heartbreaking because a young man
- 16:37Speaker 1: is dead. He's a freshman in college, a young black
- 16:39Speaker 1: man is.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Part of the course. And it is exactly it really is,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and it had.
- 16:43Speaker 1: All the makings of potentially becoming oops. You know, we
- 16:48Speaker 1: didn't investigate it. We couldn't find anything, and every and
- 16:51Speaker 1: the media moves on.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:53Speaker 1: It had all the fixings for that to possibly happen,
- 16:57Speaker 1: and now it is not going to happen, not because
- 17:01Speaker 1: Nancy Grace, but also because they got a very famous
- 17:04Speaker 1: civil rights attorney.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Correct.
- 17:05Speaker 3: But I will say the fact that Nancy Grace did
- 17:09Speaker 3: enter the chat has not heard, not heard any No.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Don Lemon was talking about it since the beginning. He
- 17:15Speaker 1: was talking about it a lot.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Yeah, but we would I'm sorry, we would expect Don
- 17:20Speaker 3: Lemon to talk about it. I mean usually once something
- 17:23Speaker 3: bad happens to a black person, yeah, we expect.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Black reporters and media to pick it up right right.
- 17:34Speaker 3: When white media picks it up, it gets more attention.
- 17:37Speaker 3: And that is just those are just the facts.
- 17:39Speaker 1: That is an objective truth. That is like not even
- 17:43Speaker 1: up for debate. It's just how it goes. And so
- 17:47Speaker 1: this case has been dominating my feed because there are
- 17:50Speaker 1: so many suspicious circumstances around his death and they're saying that.
- 17:55Speaker 1: So it happened on Horne Island, which is a ten
- 17:57Speaker 1: miles sandbar with no infrastructure. It's ten miles off the
- 18:01Speaker 1: coast of Mississippi, and there's this Fourth of July party
- 18:04Speaker 1: that's there every year. Nolan Wells was an eighteen year
- 18:07Speaker 1: old college freshman and he went there to celebrate the
- 18:09Speaker 1: Fourth of July with a big group of his friends. Now,
- 18:13Speaker 1: the last time he was seen was, according to his friends,
- 18:18Speaker 1: they left him on this island with a girl that
- 18:21Speaker 1: he was with, and that was around three pm. No
- 18:25Speaker 1: one knows who this girl is. They just said a
- 18:27Speaker 1: first name. We left him there. All of the friends
- 18:30Speaker 1: are white, yeah, out, yeah, all the friends.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Are white in this particular scenario.
- 18:34Speaker 1: In this scenario, yeah, And they're like, oh no, we
- 18:37Speaker 1: left him there around three pm. No one's seen him
- 18:39Speaker 1: since his body turns up two days later in the water.
- 18:43Speaker 3: One of the things that I, you know, I never
- 18:46Speaker 3: understand is you go someplace with a group of friends,
- 18:50Speaker 3: you got to leave with the same group of friends.
- 18:53Speaker 3: The idea that his friends left him behind on an
- 18:57Speaker 3: island with no infrastructure.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So how was he supposed to get back from that, right,
- 19:02Speaker 1: even if he was with this girl, did she have
- 19:04Speaker 1: a boat? This girl that no one knows who she is,
- 19:06Speaker 1: and we still can't find her and nobody's heard from
- 19:07Speaker 1: her yet.
- 19:08Speaker 6: So the friends went there with three boats, right, seven
- 19:11Speaker 6: of them left on one boat. Because that boat was sinking,
- 19:13Speaker 6: they they made a distress call to the coast Guard.
- 19:16Speaker 2: The sea tow.
- 19:16Speaker 6: Yeah, one of the boats left, which had most of
- 19:19Speaker 6: his close friends on it. Yes, And then I guess
- 19:21Speaker 6: they were like, we just figured he would get one
- 19:23Speaker 6: of the other two boats.
- 19:25Speaker 2: That's but his cell phone was on that boat that left,
- 19:27Speaker 2: right that. You don't you don't go anywhere without your
- 19:30Speaker 2: cell phone. That's an eighteen. I won't go anywhere without
- 19:33Speaker 2: my cell phone.
- 19:34Speaker 1: And the boat that sank, they called se tow to
- 19:38Speaker 1: be like, hey help us. And now the audio of
- 19:42Speaker 1: that call is being released. People are like manipulating the
- 19:46Speaker 1: audio to hear what's happening in the background, and there
- 19:48Speaker 1: are reports today that it sounds like they're yelling Nolan's name,
- 19:54Speaker 1: wake up?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Is he dead?
- 19:57Speaker 1: They're saying all this stuff in the background on the
- 19:59Speaker 1: sea tow call. So I think this is my theory
- 20:03Speaker 1: is that he was on that boat and there was
- 20:07Speaker 1: an accident injury. He was hurt and passed out, collapsed
- 20:12Speaker 1: and died. That's what I think happened.
- 20:15Speaker 2: And they dumped his body.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yeah, because they probably panicked. Yeah, dumped his body. I
- 20:20Speaker 1: don't think this is like a murder situation. That is
- 20:24Speaker 1: my That's what I'm reading in what I've seen so far.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But I think there was a they panic, tried to
- 20:32Speaker 1: cover it up, and now they're all hiding what actually happened.
- 20:35Speaker 2: On that boat.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Okay, and the autopsy inconclusive, so the family is paying
- 20:41Speaker 1: for an independent autopsy.
- 20:43Speaker 2: To be the independent autopsy. That's right. I did see that.
- 20:48Speaker 1: So the state examined the body the state medical examiner.
- 20:52Speaker 1: According to doctor Mitchell, the soft tissue redness in the
- 20:55Speaker 1: back of the head the occipital region were not discovered
- 20:59Speaker 1: by the state medical examiner. They missed that in the
- 21:02Speaker 1: initial report, and the area of the throat and the
- 21:06Speaker 1: neck were not provided. They held it back and didn't
- 21:12Speaker 1: give it to the independent examiner.
- 21:14Speaker 6: Why the independent people? This chief medical examer. He was like,
- 21:18Speaker 6: that's not I'm not saying that's suspicious. What I'm saying
- 21:20Speaker 6: is that they probably held that back because they're doing
- 21:23Speaker 6: further now is on it to see if there's science
- 21:26Speaker 6: of strangulation. He's like, so that's why they were still
- 21:28Speaker 6: testing it. That's what he assumes. But he did say
- 21:32Speaker 6: that they did not I guess do dissections on other
- 21:35Speaker 6: part of his skull because he was like, this was
- 21:37Speaker 6: like a fresh hematoma on the back of his head.
- 21:39Speaker 6: It was red, which means that it was like fresh
- 21:42Speaker 6: and it wasn't from like water, because I guess water
- 21:45Speaker 6: can cause kind of swelling and redness too.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Was his body was in the water for over a day.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So that call to the Cetau distress call the boat sinking.
- 21:58Speaker 1: We've got dialogue in the back crown about how there's
- 22:02Speaker 1: people are yelling Nolan, wake up, Nolan, Nolan? He is
- 22:06Speaker 1: he dead? What's happening? His phone was on that boat,
- 22:10Speaker 1: it wasn't on the island.
- 22:11Speaker 3: It returned and his mom said that when she went
- 22:14Speaker 3: through his phone, all the things that should have been
- 22:18Speaker 3: there were missing, like Snapchat delivers, all those things were deleted,
- 22:23Speaker 3: and she said that she knows her son. That never
- 22:26Speaker 3: would have happened. I mean, who's deleted? I mean, nobody
- 22:29Speaker 3: is really deleting unless you're trying to hide something. Nobody
- 22:32Speaker 3: is deleting messages off their phone, no way. You know,
- 22:35Speaker 3: anytime I see like the.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Lone black kid with a group of white friends, I
- 22:42Speaker 2: get worried.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Especially in the South. I mean in Mississippi.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I mean having been occasionally the when when I was younger,
- 22:51Speaker 3: When I was younger, occasionally the only black friend in
- 22:55Speaker 3: a group of white people. There have been things that
- 23:00Speaker 3: have been said that I wish that when I had
- 23:06Speaker 3: heard those things when I was sixteen, that I would
- 23:08Speaker 3: have had the voice that I needed to be able
- 23:11Speaker 3: to say something to those people. I'm always concerned about
- 23:15Speaker 3: seeing one black friend with a group of white friends. Now, obviously,
- 23:21Speaker 3: most black people who are friends with all white people
- 23:24Speaker 3: don't die mysteriously, right, So I don't want to make
- 23:27Speaker 3: it seem that way, But there is I feel like
- 23:31Speaker 3: we need to tell black and brown kids to just
- 23:34Speaker 3: be careful, to be on alert.
- 23:37Speaker 1: We have to tell white kids to not be pieces
- 23:39Speaker 1: of shit.
- 23:40Speaker 3: We do, we do, But you can't control that. But
- 23:44Speaker 3: you can control what you tell your kid. Sure, yes, right,
- 23:48Speaker 3: so you can control what you tell your kids. No, Like,
- 23:50Speaker 3: there are things I say to KP because she's my kid,
- 23:54Speaker 3: do you know what I mean?
- 23:54Speaker 1: Also, it's also like the way that black and brown
- 23:57Speaker 1: people get treated by white kids is learned behavior, just
- 24:01Speaker 1: learned behavior from parents, from other adults in their life,
- 24:04Speaker 1: from other kids. Yeah, so that's at least like what
- 24:07Speaker 1: I see coming from white communities. I see people who
- 24:11Speaker 1: have kids who treat other black kids a certain way,
- 24:14Speaker 1: and I'm like, I see where that came from. You
- 24:16Speaker 1: know what I mean, There's so many racial dynamics going
- 24:19Speaker 1: on in this case, right, I mean the notion that
- 24:22Speaker 1: if there was an accident and those kids were that
- 24:26Speaker 1: whatever the accident was, whether it was someone's fault, whether
- 24:28Speaker 1: someone tripped and fell, whatever it was, or if there
- 24:30Speaker 1: was malice, The fact that a group of teenagers thought
- 24:35Speaker 1: it was okay.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know. I don't know that somebody
- 24:39Speaker 3: would let's assume that this was an accident, right, I
- 24:44Speaker 3: don't think that anybody who's involved in an accident would
- 24:47Speaker 3: assume that it's okay. I think panic takes over and
- 24:50Speaker 3: you do the first thing. You know, You're like, how
- 24:54Speaker 3: am I going to hide this? Because I don't want
- 24:56Speaker 3: to get caught up and I'm going to get in
- 24:58Speaker 3: so much trouble.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Right, I don't do.
- 25:00Speaker 3: This, So it doesn't make it okay, obviously, But I
- 25:04Speaker 3: think that, Yeah, I think panic sets in. And what
- 25:11Speaker 3: I think is really interesting is whenever there's like a
- 25:15Speaker 3: terrible idea, no matter what the idea is, right, Oh,
- 25:19Speaker 3: let's say this kid got hurt, he died. And if
- 25:22Speaker 3: I say to you, if you and I are involved,
- 25:24Speaker 3: and I say to you, Michael, let's just leave it
- 25:28Speaker 3: and just run away, and I get you to agree
- 25:31Speaker 3: with it, and then you tell CJ and CJ the
- 25:34Speaker 3: way that a bad idea is infectious. Absolutely, it's so contagious.
- 25:40Speaker 3: And that's especially especially when you're that age. And then
- 25:44Speaker 3: that fear right, I'm going to get in trouble. And
- 25:46Speaker 3: this is huge trouble, right, And the thing is a
- 25:50Speaker 3: secret is no longer a secret if more than two
- 25:53Speaker 3: people know about it, right? And I don't know how
- 25:55Speaker 3: many people are involved in this at this point, it's
- 25:59Speaker 3: going to collapse.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yes, in my mind it's bifurcated. It is what happened
- 26:04Speaker 1: on the boat, everyone who was there, right, and then
- 26:08Speaker 1: what happened after we found a body in the water.
- 26:12Speaker 1: The district Attorney's office, the investigators, the medical examiners, the
- 26:17Speaker 1: person conducting the autopsy, the people who transported the body
- 26:21Speaker 1: without the throat and the neck. In my mind, it's
- 26:24Speaker 1: like a bunch of teenagers, but also government officials in Mississippi.
- 26:29Speaker 1: What are they doing right? How has this been mishandled?
- 26:33Speaker 2: By them from the inception.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Right July sixth and when the body was found, right, so,
- 26:41Speaker 1: and I.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Mean, and where are these other kids? Who's talking to them?
- 26:46Speaker 2: Yeah? What? Like? What is happening?
- 26:48Speaker 4: Right?
- 26:48Speaker 1: Where's the girl that he was allegedly on the island with?
- 26:51Speaker 2: Who is she?
- 26:52Speaker 1: Where's the search? Where's the man hunt for her?
- 26:54Speaker 2: Is she missing?
- 26:55Speaker 4: Like?
- 26:55Speaker 6: What?
- 26:56Speaker 1: As a defense attorney, I'm always what's that behind you?
- 27:01Speaker 2: Boom?
- 27:01Speaker 1: Hitting the head with fucking evidence of digital footprint evidence
- 27:06Speaker 1: that is so damning that it totally screws up my defense.
- 27:11Speaker 1: My entire case. That's screwed up because by the phone record,
- 27:15Speaker 1: by the So, where is that in this case?
- 27:18Speaker 2: I think if they how how come they didn't? Where
- 27:21Speaker 2: is that?
- 27:22Speaker 1: With the investigators in the DA's office, we.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Don't find this.
- 27:26Speaker 3: It is because they don't want to exactly, because I
- 27:29Speaker 3: think that there are too many people. There's and you
- 27:31Speaker 3: know there is always a week link, right?
- 27:34Speaker 1: And are these white affluent families and a small town
- 27:37Speaker 1: is the safe?
- 27:37Speaker 2: I mean, but no matter the group, there's always a
- 27:41Speaker 2: week link.
- 27:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I don't care if you're rich, I don't care if
- 27:44Speaker 3: you're poor. There's a week link someplace. Find the weak
- 27:46Speaker 3: link and push down on it. I wonder what's going
- 27:50Speaker 3: to happen.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I'm really interested to watch because I think I'm really hope,
- 27:56Speaker 1: I'm really hoping that there will be accountability, that there
- 27:58Speaker 1: will be some sort of I hope.
- 28:00Speaker 2: So, I hope.
- 28:01Speaker 1: So they are in the throes of the investigation right now,
- 28:04Speaker 1: and there's a lot of attention on this, so every
- 28:06Speaker 1: little piece of information is getting highly scrutinized.
- 28:10Speaker 3: And you know, the stories like this always bring up
- 28:12Speaker 3: similar stories of other situations. There have been the lone
- 28:18Speaker 3: black or brown person in a group of white friends
- 28:20Speaker 3: who sort of goes missing and what and you know,
- 28:22Speaker 3: and it's always like there was an accident, but the
- 28:25Speaker 3: cover up, the attempt at a cover up.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I don't know if you.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Saw this, but there was this absolutely reprehensible person who
- 28:34Speaker 3: posted a TikTok I'll find it for you, and a
- 28:37Speaker 3: white man who was just like, yeah, that's what we do.
- 28:40Speaker 3: We take we know y'all can't swim, and we take
- 28:43Speaker 3: you guys out, and that's what we do. And then
- 28:46Speaker 3: there was another story. It was a woman in her
- 28:49Speaker 3: family is the white woman, and her family was kayaking.
- 28:53Speaker 3: They were kayaking and she came across this young African
- 28:57Speaker 3: American teenage boy whose friends had left him knowing that
- 29:02Speaker 3: he couldn't swim. She could hear them, and you can
- 29:06Speaker 3: hear it in the video, them in the background thinking
- 29:10Speaker 3: this is the hilarious making monkey sounds.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I'll just find away.
- 29:19Speaker 3: They think, I'm but I can bro you have a
- 29:21Speaker 3: life jacket.
- 29:23Speaker 4: I'm going to die.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I was like, really really disgusting things. And that's and
- 29:32Speaker 2: that is the thing.
- 29:33Speaker 3: I know that people moved to certain parts of the
- 29:37Speaker 3: country to better their lives. Right, you want to give
- 29:41Speaker 3: your kid the best opportunity, and sometimes that means that
- 29:44Speaker 3: your kid is going to be in a predominantly white space.
- 29:47Speaker 2: You gotta be careful.
- 29:48Speaker 3: It's the only thing that I can say about it,
- 29:50Speaker 3: because speaking from myself who grew up in Queens in
- 29:54Speaker 3: a very multicultural environment, but sometimes I was in a
- 29:58Speaker 3: predominantly white space. And I can remember moments of being
- 30:03Speaker 3: not in danger. I was never in danger, but moments
- 30:06Speaker 3: of being uncomfortable.
- 30:08Speaker 1: You were in physical danger.
- 30:09Speaker 2: I was in physical danger, the.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Psychological emotional danger, for sure.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I mean, these are things and it's so interesting. These
- 30:17Speaker 3: are things that every now and then just pop into
- 30:20Speaker 3: my head.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I just remember it.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Yeah right, And I'm like, and I wish so badly that,
- 30:25Speaker 3: but you can't. Sixteen year old you is not thirty
- 30:29Speaker 3: whatever you.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Do, you know, and that hindsight is always twenty twenty.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I just like, I keep thinking, I keep coming back
- 30:38Speaker 1: to this, like all those tropes that you just talked about,
- 30:41Speaker 1: like swimming monkey noises, like those are from before the
- 30:46Speaker 1: turn of the ninth the twentieth century, Like these are
- 30:49Speaker 1: one hundred year old, two hundred year old racial tropes
- 30:54Speaker 1: that kids in America are still perpetuating. Yeah, it's just.
- 31:00Speaker 2: They hear it somewhere.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Exactly, Mom, Dad, Yeah, yeah right. I don't know this
- 31:06Speaker 1: notion that like those things are not powerful.
- 31:09Speaker 2: It's like they're very powerful.
- 31:11Speaker 3: And I think that people because it makes people uncomfortable,
- 31:17Speaker 3: they don't want to talk about it. And you know,
- 31:20Speaker 3: and people who are of a certain ilk will say,
- 31:24Speaker 3: this is wokeism, this is you want you want white
- 31:27Speaker 3: kids to feel bad. No, we don't want black kids
- 31:32Speaker 3: to feel bad, and we want to educate everybody. These
- 31:36Speaker 3: are the reasons why this is harmful. Because again, in
- 31:39Speaker 3: the second video that I'm telling you about with the
- 31:42Speaker 3: woman with the kid.
- 31:43Speaker 2: They thought it was hilarious.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Worry about you, right, they thought it was hilarious, not
- 31:55Speaker 3: really understanding because their kids the impact of at what
- 32:01Speaker 3: that is going to do to this young because they're kids.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Right.
- 32:04Speaker 2: So the things that I heard.
- 32:05Speaker 3: When I was sixteen, I don't think that the person
- 32:08Speaker 3: who said those things and did those things ever thought
- 32:12Speaker 3: that forty years later that I would be thinking about
- 32:17Speaker 3: it and talking about it.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I think about like I see these videos of like
- 32:22Speaker 1: teachers or principals who have the all are welcome sort
- 32:26Speaker 1: of like shirt or sign in their office, and you know,
- 32:29Speaker 1: there are all sorts of conservative people who don't like
- 32:31Speaker 1: that and attack the school and the teacher or whatever.
- 32:34Speaker 1: But there is this one woman video where she's the
- 32:36Speaker 1: woman's like, well, what what is on your shirt? And
- 32:38Speaker 1: she's like, you know what's on my shirt? We've talked
- 32:40Speaker 1: about this. You know who I am. You've been in
- 32:43Speaker 1: my office.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I still distress. She was a principal.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Yeah, She's like, you know exactly who I am. You
- 32:49Speaker 1: don't have to ask my name. We have already discussed this,
- 32:53Speaker 1: you know, or my office is.
- 32:53Speaker 2: That you have a nice day, missus Smith. Yeah, I
- 32:55Speaker 2: saw that ye keep it basically holding up the traffic. Yes,
- 33:00Speaker 2: say that, Yeah she did.
- 33:02Speaker 1: But it does make me think about like those people
- 33:03Speaker 1: who are the one person who is the safe person
- 33:08Speaker 1: for you to come talk to it school, everyone had
- 33:10Speaker 1: like I hope that all.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Kids I do.
- 33:13Speaker 3: To the woman who was kayaking with her family, I
- 33:16Speaker 3: left her message she posted on Instagram. Moms just like
- 33:19Speaker 3: a She's like a mom, thank you for your super
- 33:23Speaker 3: mom Jean right, you are such a good example for
- 33:26Speaker 3: your kids.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Are you okay?
- 33:28Speaker 4: Hey?
- 33:29Speaker 7: Are you okay?
- 33:30Speaker 5: Okay?
- 33:30Speaker 4: Yeah? Okay. I would.
- 33:36Speaker 3: And I sent a message to the kid and I
- 33:39Speaker 3: was just like, you need to listen to your auntie
- 33:42Speaker 3: and your internet auntie Melissa. And I'm telling you that
- 33:45Speaker 3: these are not your friends. It's not funny, it's not you.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Were in danger. Better to have no friends. Yeah.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Also, like, don't strive to be don't strive to be
- 33:58Speaker 1: a good a good mom to your kids. Strive to
- 34:00Speaker 1: be the mom that all the other kids come to
- 34:02Speaker 1: with the problem, be the safe.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Mom for all the kids at the I mean I
- 34:06Speaker 3: had never seen this woman's contents before, but in that moment, yeah,
- 34:11Speaker 3: what a good mom, Yeah, what a good mom.
- 34:13Speaker 1: They're Yeah finding like one mom like that at the
- 34:15Speaker 1: school who was like.
- 34:17Speaker 2: The good the good mom, the cool mom.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, let's take a break.
- 34:21Speaker 2: We've got to Oh we have a guest. We do. Yeah,
- 34:23Speaker 2: I'm really excited. Yeah, we'll be right back.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Welcome back to the pod. We are here with Elna Bamfield.
- 34:32Speaker 1: She's a Brooklyn based stand up comedian who just released
- 34:35Speaker 1: her debut special Untouchable on YouTube. At age thirteen, Elena
- 34:39Speaker 1: was among the survivors of the USA gymnastics doctor Larry Nasser.
- 34:44Speaker 3: She co hosts the Delightly Spooky Bedtime pregame live stream
- 34:48Speaker 3: with fellow comedian Abby Vohman Monday nights at eight pm.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Welcome to brief re Sas.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Thanks for being Thank you so much for having me,
- 34:55Speaker 2: So excited to have you.
- 34:56Speaker 1: So we were just talking about Brooklyn and how Melissa
- 35:00Speaker 1: are going to thrift Con.
- 35:01Speaker 3: With our friend Alyssa, who we talk about on the
- 35:03Speaker 3: podcast all the time.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Okay, and it is going to be chaos. You should
- 35:07Speaker 2: totally come. She's an agent of chaos.
- 35:09Speaker 5: What day is thrift Con?
- 35:12Speaker 2: Saturday? August?
- 35:14Speaker 1: Oh, this Saturday, Saturday? So aris on Thursday, So this
- 35:18Speaker 1: all so on Saturday. Anyway, I'll text it to the detail.
- 35:22Speaker 1: You don't have to tell the viewers.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but we're going to be there.
- 35:27Speaker 1: But we love thrifting anyway, welcome to the show. Super
- 35:30Speaker 1: excited to chat with you. You've got this incredible special
- 35:32Speaker 1: right now.
- 35:34Speaker 2: How's it going?
- 35:35Speaker 1: It's going reception then it's hysterical by the way, Yeah,
- 35:39Speaker 1: I love it. I've seen so many clips on TikTok too.
- 35:42Speaker 1: They're all over my feet. So everyone like and following, comment,
- 35:46Speaker 1: engage with the posts.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Content friends, it's all the content.
- 35:51Speaker 5: That's all the game is now is content. Content. But no,
- 35:54Speaker 5: it's been going really well.
- 35:55Speaker 4: I'm actually I can't be more happy with how it's gone, honestly.
- 35:59Speaker 4: I mean it's been almost two months and it's almost
- 36:02Speaker 4: got fifteen thousand views, which is wow, way more than
- 36:05Speaker 4: I thought, you know, I would have by now.
- 36:08Speaker 5: I guess it's just one of those things. Fro'm like,
- 36:09Speaker 5: it's not monetized.
- 36:10Speaker 4: I don't make anything off of it, so I just
- 36:12Speaker 4: like kind of feed off of people watching it and
- 36:15Speaker 4: being like, hey, this was great. Unfortunately I relate and
- 36:18Speaker 4: it made me feel better, you know, like.
- 36:22Speaker 2: What has been.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I guess what's the most common comment that you're getting.
- 36:28Speaker 4: The most common comment that I'm getting is like people
- 36:32Speaker 4: being like, this is real like dark humor, which also,
- 36:35Speaker 4: like I think touches me in a way, I guess,
- 36:37Speaker 4: just because I'm like, I loved like rosebud Baker.
- 36:40Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys are familiar with.
- 36:42Speaker 4: Her work at all, but she had a special on
- 36:44Speaker 4: YouTube called Whiskey Fist when I first started, and it
- 36:47Speaker 4: was kind of about like her abusive acts that would
- 36:49Speaker 4: drink and you know, try and hit her but could
- 36:51Speaker 4: never land.
- 36:52Speaker 5: A punch because he had whiskey Fists or whatever.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Oh, so this is but it's dark humor, but dark.
- 36:58Speaker 5: Humor, yeah, and so be able.
- 37:01Speaker 4: Like my goal was, I guess, to talk about something
- 37:03Speaker 4: horrible in a funny way and make other people laugh
- 37:05Speaker 4: about it.
- 37:06Speaker 5: So it's the biggest badge of honor.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel I'm getting as people be like, oh,
- 37:10Speaker 4: this is actual dark comedy. It's not just like shocking
- 37:13Speaker 4: and like offensive, you know, right.
- 37:15Speaker 1: And so for people at home who don't who maybe
- 37:17Speaker 1: haven't seen it yet, you want to just give like
- 37:19Speaker 1: a quick log line of what the special actually is.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Someone focuses on.
- 37:24Speaker 4: So it's basic It's a special called Untouchable. It's about
- 37:27Speaker 4: getting molested. Trigger warning if you're watching, but it is
- 37:32Speaker 4: essentially like twenty five minutes of just set up punchline
- 37:37Speaker 4: about it's like, you know, every everything I could think of,
- 37:43Speaker 4: I guess for like what had gone on without being
- 37:47Speaker 4: like graphic or offensive, you know, but even taught like
- 37:51Speaker 4: making fun of like his name being you know, going
- 37:54Speaker 4: by doctor Larry instead of doctor Lawrence.
- 37:56Speaker 5: Or you know whatever it is.
- 37:59Speaker 4: But I've like I cover everything from like how stupid
- 38:02Speaker 4: this guy was, to like how stupid other people can be,
- 38:06Speaker 4: kind of like towards sexual assault survivors. Like I have
- 38:10Speaker 4: a section in the special where I'm talking about like
- 38:12Speaker 4: kind of stupid questions and I've been asked before. One
- 38:16Speaker 4: of the jokes in the special is about how Larry
- 38:20Speaker 4: Nassa got stabbed in prison, and everyone in my family,
- 38:23Speaker 4: like all my friends and family sent me a like
- 38:26Speaker 4: screenshot of the article and they were like, hey, check
- 38:28Speaker 4: it out.
- 38:29Speaker 5: It's your guy.
- 38:30Speaker 4: And then I'm like, oh, this is really triggering, but
- 38:33Speaker 4: I'm glad that it's bringing everyone together. Yes, exactly, But
- 38:40Speaker 4: it's so funny because anytime there's any sort of Larry
- 38:42Speaker 4: Nassar News.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Even after the special came out, people will still send
- 38:45Speaker 5: it to me and be like, hey, did you look
- 38:47Speaker 5: at this?
- 38:47Speaker 4: And I'm like, dude, you know, I wonder.
- 38:51Speaker 3: I wonder what people are hoping your reaction. What are
- 38:55Speaker 3: they anticipating Your reaction will be.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Like, I'm yeah, I was stabbed. I'm here, yes exactly.
- 39:01Speaker 5: I don't think that that's what they think.
- 39:03Speaker 4: They think that I'm going to like throw a party
- 39:05Speaker 4: or something because my abuser was hurt and I'm and
- 39:08Speaker 4: I guess it bothers me just a little bit because
- 39:10Speaker 4: I just am like, I don't know, this guy is horrible,
- 39:13Speaker 4: but I don't want anyone to die.
- 39:15Speaker 5: I don't know, you know what I mean. Like that's
- 39:16Speaker 5: not really like my moral compass, I guess you know.
- 39:18Speaker 4: What I mean.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Sometimes people said in that guest and they say we
- 39:22Speaker 1: do want them to die. That is actually really interesting.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I don't know.
- 39:26Speaker 4: There's this whole I have the whole stupid like Christian
- 39:29Speaker 4: forgiveness thing inside of me still.
- 39:31Speaker 3: You know what I mean, It's not stupid, but it's
- 39:34Speaker 3: it's your moral code and that's how you live your life,
- 39:36Speaker 3: and you're allowed to think and nobody is allowed to here.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I am telling you, but nobody is allowed to tell
- 39:48Speaker 3: you or anybody how you should be feeling about a
- 39:51Speaker 3: certain thing. Right, So, like, if the idea of your
- 39:54Speaker 3: a Viezer getting stabbed in prison does not bring you joy,
- 39:58Speaker 3: that's okay. Like, yeah, if it did bring you joy,
- 40:01Speaker 3: that would also be okay. Ye are entitled to feel
- 40:04Speaker 3: how you feel about the.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Thing, thank you.
- 40:05Speaker 4: I do. I agree with that too, because it's also
- 40:07Speaker 4: a thing where it's like, I mean, when you got stabbed,
- 40:09Speaker 4: I wasn't sad, you know what I mean. It was like, no,
- 40:12Speaker 4: my poor buddy. Yeah, I was just kind of like, oh,
- 40:16Speaker 4: I hope he lives to be stabbed again. I guess,
- 40:19Speaker 4: like I don't know, you know, I.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Wonder if people are just like this person was such
- 40:26Speaker 3: a heinous monster that they would like him to suffer
- 40:30Speaker 3: as much as possible, so they're like happy about it
- 40:34Speaker 3: on your behalf, if that makes sense.
- 40:35Speaker 5: No, it does make sense. I'm never like offended, you know,
- 40:38Speaker 5: when someone sends me a thing, but it is just
- 40:40Speaker 5: a thing. We're like, God, God, it's.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Urney with the trial. Everything that happened in court.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Okay, So the trial is actually like it's like slightly
- 40:51Speaker 4: traumatic for me, but not in the way of like, oh,
- 40:53Speaker 4: I don't want to like relive it, more in the
- 40:55Speaker 4: sense of I have.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Like regrets about the trial a little bit.
- 41:01Speaker 4: I at the time was working like part time at
- 41:04Speaker 4: a pet grooming place in my small town. You know,
- 41:07Speaker 4: just a lady that like cuts dog hair. But I
- 41:10Speaker 4: was like the groomer's assistant, just giving dogs baths and
- 41:13Speaker 4: expressing anal glands and all the fun stuff. And but
- 41:17Speaker 4: she was like I don't know if it was just
- 41:19Speaker 4: because she had cancer at the time or what the
- 41:21Speaker 4: deal was, but she was just like a very crotchety
- 41:23Speaker 4: woman for a moment, you know what I mean, where
- 41:25Speaker 4: she was just very angry, and she would like come
- 41:29Speaker 4: in in the morning. I remember I was going to
- 41:30Speaker 4: ask for the time off to read my own victim
- 41:32Speaker 4: impact statement in court essentially, and like that morning I
- 41:37Speaker 4: like came in.
- 41:38Speaker 5: I was like, Hey, what's your name? How are you
- 41:41Speaker 5: this morning?
- 41:42Speaker 4: And she was like, oh, I'm fine. Tired of watching
- 41:44Speaker 4: the news, you know, I turn on the news this morning.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Every time I turn on the news, it's just all
- 41:47Speaker 4: these little girls getting on the stand and seeing who
- 41:49Speaker 4: can cry the hardest for the most money, and I
- 41:52Speaker 4: was like, oh my god, I'm just gonna let some.
- 41:54Speaker 5: Court lady read that shit.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Like I can't.
- 41:58Speaker 5: I can't ask you.
- 41:59Speaker 4: I can't be like, hey, I need could I have
- 42:00Speaker 4: Tuesday off? I'd like to go cry in the stand
- 42:02Speaker 4: for money, like you know. So I didn't. I was
- 42:07Speaker 4: I had like a really great lawyer who was a
- 42:09Speaker 4: family friend, you know. He just took care of everything
- 42:14Speaker 4: for me. And some lady from the court read my
- 42:17Speaker 4: victim impac state. But that was kind of the first
- 42:18Speaker 4: time I really felt like a comic because she was
- 42:21Speaker 4: reading it and I was like, well, and you're butchering it.
- 42:24Speaker 4: And I haven't even done comedy yet, but like the
- 42:27Speaker 4: victim impact statement, I felt like it was my first
- 42:29Speaker 4: ever like roast battle sort of thing, you know of
- 42:32Speaker 4: just like like my lawyer was like, hey, so I
- 42:36Speaker 4: don't know, we're allowed to stay on your show. But
- 42:37Speaker 4: I'm just like but he's just like, hey, you can't
- 42:40Speaker 4: like say boner and like next game is honest, you
- 42:44Speaker 4: can't say that in the court of law, so you
- 42:45Speaker 4: need to like find some new words for this thing,
- 42:49Speaker 4: you know. And so I made a court appropriate and
- 42:51Speaker 4: sent it in and then some lady read it, but.
- 42:53Speaker 1: It was still supposed to be like kind of chat
- 42:56Speaker 1: you couldn't ask. Yeah, now you can ask chat ChiPT
- 43:00Speaker 1: give me another word for boner.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. Erection is what I went with.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Okay, I guess you got last chat for Yeah, that's
- 43:08Speaker 1: really my that's.
- 43:09Speaker 4: My I don't know everyone else feels, but I feel
- 43:11Speaker 4: like erection is scarier than boner.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Get in the comments. I want you to let us know.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Do you prefer to say in court erection or boner?
- 43:22Speaker 1: And I want to know Press one for erection, press
- 43:25Speaker 1: two for bon right into c J. We had a
- 43:32Speaker 1: gay porn star on the show.
- 43:35Speaker 2: CJ was trying to research. I met him at a party,
- 43:44Speaker 2: so I didn't know his like legal name. I only
- 43:47Speaker 2: knew his Google is when you google him, it's it's
- 43:54Speaker 2: right there.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Yeah, what he's known for. And so just you know,
- 44:01Speaker 1: at a party, CJ, this guy's coming on the show.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I didn't warn him. Yeah, and this porn man just trying.
- 44:07Speaker 5: To do his job.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Anyway, investigating a gay porn star with your pregnant wife
- 44:20Speaker 4: is amazing.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Okay, so that was your trial experience. You watched the trial.
- 44:25Speaker 2: What was sort of the It was a little weird.
- 44:27Speaker 5: It was hard.
- 44:28Speaker 4: I feel like I watched just specifically my part on YouTube.
- 44:33Speaker 4: I had to work the day of it, obviously because
- 44:36Speaker 4: I didn't ask for it off, so I didn't watch
- 44:38Speaker 4: it like on the news or anything. But my lawyer
- 44:40Speaker 4: did send me the like live stream that they had
- 44:42Speaker 4: posted with like my time stamp or whatever, so I
- 44:45Speaker 4: was able to watch it. And then I had a
- 44:46Speaker 4: couple other friends that were there to read theirs in person,
- 44:50Speaker 4: so I watched theirs too.
- 44:52Speaker 5: But yeah, that was.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Essentially my trial experience. And so I guess I felt
- 44:55Speaker 4: a little like, I mean, I'm just regretful that I
- 44:58Speaker 4: didn't ask for it. Often read it myself, and you
- 45:01Speaker 4: know what I mean, like stand you know what I
- 45:03Speaker 4: mean in front of him and say it. But I mean,
- 45:06Speaker 4: I can't do anything now other than I guess put
- 45:09Speaker 4: out a comedy special.
- 45:10Speaker 3: I mean, I think what you're doing now is I mean,
- 45:16Speaker 3: not better or worse, but like it's this is how
- 45:18Speaker 3: you're handling it right. And also and I think that
- 45:22Speaker 3: this because it's on YouTube, will have a greater reach.
- 45:25Speaker 4: That's what I'm hoping, you know what I think partially
- 45:27Speaker 4: why we just like me and Sam Talent, decided not
- 45:29Speaker 4: to monetize it.
- 45:30Speaker 5: We just want as many views as possible.
- 45:33Speaker 4: And you know, because I mean, and I know it's
- 45:36Speaker 4: not for everybody, you know what I mean, what I've
- 45:38Speaker 4: made isn't for everybody. It's not going to be for
- 45:40Speaker 4: every survivor. Everyone handles everything differently. But I hope that
- 45:44Speaker 4: it helps people.
- 45:46Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 45:46Speaker 4: My favorite comment I ever got is someone being like, hey,
- 45:48Speaker 4: I had a similar experience with my volleyball coach when
- 45:53Speaker 4: I was thirteen.
- 45:54Speaker 5: This is really great.
- 45:55Speaker 4: I hope I find something that like pulls me out
- 45:58Speaker 4: from underneath it, the way you find something, you know.
- 46:01Speaker 4: And I just like kind of like I don't know
- 46:03Speaker 4: if I was po messing or what, but I just
- 46:05Speaker 4: like broke down and cried because it's sad, you know
- 46:07Speaker 4: what I mean. I really do feel lucky that I
- 46:09Speaker 4: have something, an outlet and you know what I mean,
- 46:12Speaker 4: something to get it out of me, because so many
- 46:14Speaker 4: people just they sit silencely with it.
- 46:17Speaker 1: And well, I was going to ask you about like
- 46:20Speaker 1: the healing journey, right, because like so many people go
- 46:23Speaker 1: through what you went through. Not everyone get there's not
- 46:26Speaker 1: always a high profile trial. There's not only like you're
- 46:30Speaker 1: hilarious beyond just that subject matter of your set, right,
- 46:33Speaker 1: like you are the stand up comic like on all subjects, right, not.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Just yes, yeah, you're assault absolutely.
- 46:41Speaker 1: So it's sort of like, what has your healing journey been, Like,
- 46:45Speaker 1: what has your career been like with this, you know,
- 46:49Speaker 1: with you right, and how have you been sort of
- 46:51Speaker 1: navigating that.
- 46:53Speaker 5: I feel like it's obviously I'm not healed.
- 46:57Speaker 4: I don't think you know, I'm knowing that makes a
- 46:59Speaker 4: thirty minute com special wile getting loss it is fully okay.
- 47:02Speaker 4: But I guess the probably it's been a lot of therapy.
- 47:06Speaker 4: I started going to therapy for the first time in
- 47:07Speaker 4: my life after the news broke. I also wasn't like,
- 47:11Speaker 4: it's not like I got abused under the guys of
- 47:13Speaker 4: medical treatment at thirteen and then sat. I mean, I
- 47:16Speaker 4: guess I did say with it subconsciously, but I had
- 47:21Speaker 4: friends that were seeing him, right. I was referred, you know,
- 47:23Speaker 4: to his office, and it's kind of a thing where
- 47:28Speaker 4: it's like you I went and told my friend what happened,
- 47:30Speaker 4: and she was like, oh, for sure, like you know,
- 47:34Speaker 4: that's what happens with me. Too, don't worry about it,
- 47:36Speaker 4: like he's a doctor whatever. And then you also have
- 47:39Speaker 4: like sort of this illusion of he's the best because
- 47:43Speaker 4: he was. He was the Olympic team doctor, and you know, yeah,
- 47:48Speaker 4: you don't have question especially back then, you know what
- 47:51Speaker 4: I mean, this kind of I guess Jerry Sandusky had
- 47:53Speaker 4: broke maybe by that point, but no one really you know,
- 47:56Speaker 4: questioned their doctor like that the way that they do now.
- 48:01Speaker 4: And so for me, I basically I feel like I
- 48:04Speaker 4: found out with everybody else. I there saw just an article.
- 48:10Speaker 4: I think my mom even maybe had sent it to me,
- 48:12Speaker 4: and I was like, oh my god, that's what happened
- 48:16Speaker 4: to me. And my alm was like immediately called me
- 48:18Speaker 4: and she's like, what are.
- 48:18Speaker 5: You talking about?
- 48:19Speaker 2: You know you're folks sitting No, they didn't know.
- 48:22Speaker 5: I didn't say anything about it.
- 48:23Speaker 1: I never been like you didn't totally understand.
- 48:26Speaker 7: No, I was what it was.
- 48:27Speaker 5: I think I was better off before I found out.
- 48:29Speaker 4: Frankly, I was just like, that's what happened at the doctor,
- 48:33Speaker 4: you know what I mean, Like it's just the doctor
- 48:36Speaker 4: or whatever.
- 48:37Speaker 5: It was clinical until it was not.
- 48:39Speaker 4: You know. That's how it like felt in my mind.
- 48:41Speaker 4: And so I feel like I struggled, But looking back
- 48:44Speaker 4: on it, it's I mean, I was like, don't drink,
- 48:48Speaker 4: like drinking and smoking weed and sneaking out and doing
- 48:51Speaker 4: acid at school and like, so it was obviously affecting me,
- 48:54Speaker 4: and I just didn't like, didn't really.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Realize what it was segment before you got here hindsight
- 48:58Speaker 1: is twenty twenty.
- 48:59Speaker 4: Yeah, everything absolutely, and so I'm like, oh, I was
- 49:01Speaker 4: totally doing that because of that for sure. But I
- 49:04Speaker 4: felt like nineteen is kind of where it started. Like
- 49:08Speaker 4: it hit me like a ton of break, Like finding
- 49:09Speaker 4: out I got molested is how it felt, you know,
- 49:11Speaker 4: Like I was like, oh, is that help them? Is that?
- 49:14Speaker 6: How like that?
- 49:15Speaker 2: I didn't know, you know, like how old you were
- 49:17Speaker 2: when the news came out? You were nineteen?
- 49:18Speaker 5: Yes, it was nineteen.
- 49:20Speaker 4: I think I was like freshly nineteen when the news
- 49:22Speaker 4: came out, And yeah, so then I just started dealing
- 49:25Speaker 4: with it from there, and going through the court process
- 49:27Speaker 4: was like the one of the first times I had
- 49:29Speaker 4: gone to therapy at all, because there's like a whole
- 49:34Speaker 4: damages portion where it's kind of like how many days
- 49:37Speaker 4: of work did you miss because you were depressed about this?
- 49:40Speaker 3: Or you know.
- 49:42Speaker 4: So then it was a weird thing where I kind
- 49:43Speaker 4: of felt like therapy. It felt more like we were
- 49:47Speaker 4: putting a price tag on what was wrong with me.
- 49:51Speaker 4: And it was less therapeutic and way more just like, Okay,
- 49:54Speaker 4: we got to figure this out, so we can get
- 49:55Speaker 4: this all in here, and like I can just say, yeah,
- 49:58Speaker 4: like definitively you are fucked up, okay.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Right, right, okay.
- 50:02Speaker 1: So it wasn't really like healing therapeutic. No, it was
- 50:05Speaker 1: definitely like court mandata, right.
- 50:07Speaker 2: And it was it sounds very much like a way
- 50:10Speaker 2: of how do we put a dollar amount?
- 50:12Speaker 5: And it sucks, but you have to you know, no,
- 50:15Speaker 5: I know.
- 50:15Speaker 2: And it's just it's so awful that that's the way
- 50:19Speaker 2: that it is.
- 50:19Speaker 5: But that's the way that it is.
- 50:21Speaker 3: So that sort of this idea though of like thing
- 50:25Speaker 3: A happened, so she gets this amount of money, had
- 50:30Speaker 3: BC and D happened, she would get this other money
- 50:33Speaker 3: or had it happened.
- 50:35Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 50:36Speaker 4: That is it. It is crazy, and that is kind
- 50:38Speaker 4: of exactly how it is. And after the fact, I
- 50:41Speaker 4: don't know about other girls, I don't know about anyone
- 50:43Speaker 4: else's case, but I just know that I'm not supposed
- 50:46Speaker 4: to say, because if they're still settling things, they could
- 50:49Speaker 4: use it as leverage by being like, oh, Lena Bamfield
- 50:52Speaker 4: was molested X amount of times, okay, and she received
- 50:55Speaker 4: X amount of money, but my client was molested toye
- 50:57Speaker 4: set amount. She's receiving less, you know, And so it's
- 51:01Speaker 4: this whole it's very weird thing that I think about
- 51:04Speaker 4: that is reprehensible.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I just think, you know, Michael and
- 51:08Speaker 3: I talk about this a lot, just sort of the
- 51:10Speaker 3: way that we treat women, the way that we don't
- 51:17Speaker 3: believe girls, the way that it sort of comes down
- 51:21Speaker 3: to dollars and cents, and you know, people have to say, well,
- 51:25Speaker 3: you know, the children are the future, like super shit
- 51:28Speaker 3: like that, but then this is how we're behaving.
- 51:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's also like how much we see like we
- 51:34Speaker 1: were just the Epstein Files comes up a lot in
- 51:37Speaker 1: this studio. How much society hates women, women he women,
- 51:44Speaker 1: men hate women, how much society hates women. How many
- 51:47Speaker 1: times about the gay club and people are like, why
- 51:49Speaker 1: is there a woman here? And I'm like, I thought
- 51:52Speaker 1: there was a space for everybody. Why are you being
- 51:54Speaker 1: such a bit.
- 51:54Speaker 5: About It's crazy it is crazy.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Why do we have to be so to women?
- 52:00Speaker 4: And then it reminds you of because around the same
- 52:02Speaker 4: time that this all happened to me too, movement was
- 52:05Speaker 4: what twenty sixteen, and I think that's right around was
- 52:09Speaker 4: I nineteen and twenty sixteen, It's right around the same time.
- 52:11Speaker 5: But there was this whole video going around about like
- 52:13Speaker 5: how much is a little girl worthy? You know, and like.
- 52:18Speaker 4: And I just think and back to like kind of
- 52:20Speaker 4: what you guys are saying just about like hating women.
- 52:23Speaker 4: This joke didn't really make it into the special. I
- 52:25Speaker 4: guess it's not really because it wasn't really a joke.
- 52:27Speaker 4: It was just more of a statement, you know, because
- 52:29Speaker 4: people are kind of like always think I'm like rich
- 52:32Speaker 4: or whatever, because like they always want to know, like
- 52:34Speaker 4: how much money I got for getting lost in And
- 52:36Speaker 4: I'm like, how much do you think that the American
- 52:40Speaker 4: justice system values women and children? You know what I mean?
- 52:44Speaker 5: Like that's crazy.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I think they'd make it into the special?
- 52:47Speaker 5: Did it? Okay?
- 52:47Speaker 1: Well?
- 52:48Speaker 4: That the second part I think is where I was
- 52:49Speaker 4: like there was a full there was a lady there
- 52:53Speaker 4: like arguing against my lawyer to make sure that I
- 52:56Speaker 4: didn't get too much money, you know, like, and it's
- 52:59Speaker 4: I mean, that's it has to be someone's job. It's
- 53:01Speaker 4: not her fault specifically, you know what I mean. Like,
- 53:04Speaker 4: but it just is crazy that that's where it's at, right.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Like that she had a choice.
- 53:11Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, this is my launching patch.
- 53:17Speaker 2: You always have a choice. Yeah, as Meryl says, we can.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Cut this out if you don't want to answer the question, right.
- 53:24Speaker 3: I I was talking to CJ. And I was wondering
- 53:26Speaker 3: about this when I knew that you were coming. Do
- 53:30Speaker 3: you remember when you met him?
- 53:33Speaker 2: Yes, I'm sorry. And do you remember what your first impression.
- 53:38Speaker 5: Of him was? Of him was? I remember it. I
- 53:42Speaker 5: was thirteen when I first met him, and it was.
- 53:47Speaker 4: And I remember I can almost like remember it's like
- 53:49Speaker 4: a weird distant memory where I'm like I can see
- 53:52Speaker 4: the building in my head and I can like count
- 53:53Speaker 4: the windows and tell you, like which corner one, like
- 53:56Speaker 4: two down, all the way over it was, and I
- 53:58Speaker 4: can remember like seeing like the trim in the room
- 54:02Speaker 4: and like talking to him. All I remember is he
- 54:04Speaker 4: made my mom laugh a lot, Like he was just
- 54:07Speaker 4: very charming and charismatic.
- 54:08Speaker 5: Which you have to be if you're going to be
- 54:10Speaker 5: a predator.
- 54:11Speaker 3: You know, so that people think that you're saying yes, yes,
- 54:15Speaker 3: And I remember a nice guy.
- 54:16Speaker 4: There's a nice guy, and I remember him calling me
- 54:19Speaker 4: a butt head was a big thing that I remember
- 54:21Speaker 4: because I was like, oh, my neck is really hurting.
- 54:24Speaker 4: And I was like expecting, especially at this time when
- 54:26Speaker 4: I'm running around doing like physical therapy. I thought physical
- 54:30Speaker 4: therapy was going to be someone like giving me a
- 54:31Speaker 4: massage and making.
- 54:32Speaker 5: Me feel better. But it's like actually hard work that
- 54:34Speaker 5: makes your body hurt.
- 54:36Speaker 4: And so I was like coming from that and I'm like,
- 54:39Speaker 4: my neck hurts and he's like, oh, okay, put on
- 54:42Speaker 4: these paper shorts and change into this gown. Essentially, but
- 54:47Speaker 4: I remember he told me and my mom that I
- 54:50Speaker 4: was a butt head. He did not say that he
- 54:52Speaker 4: was going to enter my body in any way, you
- 54:55Speaker 4: know what I mean. But essentially it was just like, oh,
- 54:57Speaker 4: the problems up by your head, but we're going to
- 54:59Speaker 4: fix it down at your butt. Essentially, I was like, oh,
- 55:02Speaker 4: maybe I'm a butt head and that's why my you know,
- 55:05Speaker 4: neck hurts as well, like you know what I mean,
- 55:07Speaker 4: just still woman being like okay, that sounds good, Like
- 55:10Speaker 4: you know what I mean, like sounds plausible. I don't know,
- 55:13Speaker 4: you know, why would she know? But I think the
- 55:16Speaker 4: first time I met him, I remember him calling me
- 55:18Speaker 4: a butt heead and being in just being in that
- 55:23Speaker 4: corner office, and he recommended, Uh, I was wanting to
- 55:27Speaker 4: go into all star cheerleading and I wanted to go
- 55:29Speaker 4: to a Michigan Extreme It's just a gym that was
- 55:32Speaker 4: one of the gyms in Michigan, And he was like,
- 55:33Speaker 4: why would you go there when you could go here
- 55:35Speaker 4: to like Capital City cheer And he pulled up their
- 55:37Speaker 4: website on Facebook, showed me and my mom like they're
- 55:41Speaker 4: like facility and stuff.
- 55:41Speaker 5: And I ended up cheerleading at that gym.
- 55:43Speaker 4: For like four or five years because of that suggestion essentially,
- 55:47Speaker 4: which I mean it was some of the best four
- 55:49Speaker 4: or five years of my life, you know, But but yeah,
- 55:52Speaker 4: that's what I remember from first meeting him is he
- 55:54Speaker 4: recommended my cheerleading gym and like my lifelong friends that
- 55:57Speaker 4: I now have, which is super weird.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Because I you know, I think when we imagine what
- 56:05Speaker 3: a sexual predator looks like, you put an image in
- 56:10Speaker 3: your head, right, like it's like this creepy yeah, sort
- 56:13Speaker 3: of like weird.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Like from like the Norton Security app like or you know, and.
- 56:19Speaker 2: We're all guilty of this.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Sometimes you you'll see the image of somebody like I
- 56:23Speaker 3: would have known it in a second. Look at his face,
- 56:26Speaker 3: look at those beady eyes.
- 56:27Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, like.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Like he's giving off. But I think, but what we
- 56:32Speaker 3: have since learned, right, is that sure, it could be
- 56:35Speaker 3: the creepy person who's weird in the corner, but it
- 56:39Speaker 3: could also it's your priest, it's your rabbits, you know,
- 56:42Speaker 3: someone you know who when you find out, oh my god,
- 56:49Speaker 3: I can't believe that it's so and so it seems
- 56:51Speaker 3: like such a good guy.
- 56:53Speaker 4: It's it's it's crazy. And I mean that was the
- 56:56Speaker 4: general consensus of Larry Nasa before the news like broke,
- 56:59Speaker 4: you know, was that this was a good guy and
- 57:02Speaker 4: you could take your kids home. I mean, he was
- 57:04Speaker 4: involved in other he was involved in other things pretty
- 57:07Speaker 4: positive allegedly. I'm pretty positive that he was involved in
- 57:11Speaker 4: like the whole public schools like nursing program, Like not
- 57:16Speaker 4: nursing program, but sort of like their athletic doctor. Does
- 57:19Speaker 4: that makes any sense for high school in the area.
- 57:22Speaker 4: He had an office at Michigan State University Sports athletic
- 57:26Speaker 4: you know thing. So he just had like a big
- 57:28Speaker 4: we had his fingers spread, you know what I mean.
- 57:31Speaker 4: Web was wide right, this is not your job to
- 57:35Speaker 4: educate me on this.
- 57:36Speaker 3: But let me ask you, do you know if he
- 57:41Speaker 3: did this to other children in the other parts of
- 57:45Speaker 3: his work or was it did he focus solely on
- 57:49Speaker 3: the gymnast?
- 57:50Speaker 4: I think that he he was He just was an opportunist, Okay.
- 57:56Speaker 4: I have said since the beginning, like one of the
- 57:59Speaker 4: reasons I decided all so to like file because at first,
- 58:01Speaker 4: you know, it was my friend had seen him so
- 58:05Speaker 4: much more than me. Her mom would like drop her
- 58:07Speaker 4: off at his house to like get like her back
- 58:09Speaker 4: adjusted in his basement and shit, and I just was like, oh,
- 58:12Speaker 4: I'm not a basement case. My mom took me like
- 58:15Speaker 4: I legitimately in the beginning was like, oh, what only
- 58:19Speaker 4: happened to me like three or four times, you know,
- 58:22Speaker 4: like maybe I don't you know, like deserve to like
- 58:25Speaker 4: say anything about it, which is obviously bullshit.
- 58:27Speaker 5: Hindsight is twenty twenty eight, you know.
- 58:30Speaker 4: But at first I was like a little bit hesitant
- 58:32Speaker 4: because I just, like, I guess and I have learned
- 58:34Speaker 4: now this is like a common feeling amongst survivors of
- 58:37Speaker 4: a lot of things, which like I didn't feel like
- 58:38Speaker 4: I had it bad enough, you know.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I think it becomes almost like the oppression Olympics, right,
- 58:45Speaker 2: like who who is worse off? Well, I'm not like
- 58:50Speaker 2: this person. Yeah, so I should feel lucky.
- 58:52Speaker 5: I should feel lucky and I should feel good.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Yes, exactly exactly, and but also through because like I've
- 59:00Speaker 4: I've had other things happen and this was the only
- 59:03Speaker 4: one where you know, like four or five hundred people
- 59:06Speaker 4: are behind me being like and yes it did, you know,
- 59:10Speaker 4: like me to us.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Too whatever, you know, there's like a dud exactly.
- 59:15Speaker 4: So even though it was super hard, it was the
- 59:17Speaker 4: easiest sexual assault I've ever had to report, like because
- 59:20Speaker 4: of that backing, you.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Know, behind you.
- 59:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:24Speaker 1: I was going to say, is there like a community
- 59:26Speaker 1: of support now amongst survivors?
- 59:28Speaker 2: Like are do you keep it?
- 59:29Speaker 5: Sure? There is? I'm not a part of it. I
- 59:33Speaker 5: feel I don't know.
- 59:35Speaker 4: I again, I just I feel it like some people
- 59:40Speaker 4: start organizations and nonprofits and like that's fucking great, and
- 59:43Speaker 4: like it's just like you know what I mean, Like
- 59:45Speaker 4: I can't like sit in that space of you know
- 59:47Speaker 4: what I mean, like it just it feels clinical itself,
- 59:50Speaker 4: being at a nonprofit or whatever.
- 59:51Speaker 2: It is, Like I'm just like, but you know, so,
- 59:57Speaker 2: I mean, that doesn't have to be your space.
- 59:59Speaker 5: The stage is a exactly and so I'm like, I'm
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: so I can do this and that's something different and.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Then hopefully still in the nonprofit space, can't do what
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: you do. Yeah.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: When going into making the special, one of the big
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: things for me is that I was like, well, I
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: anticipated doing decently well just because Sam Talent, amazing comedian
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: and headliner that I go on the road with. He
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: was like already going to put it out on his
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: YouTube and it's got like thirty five thousand subscribers or something,
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: so I knew that people were going to see it
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: when I put it out like on his.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Page.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: So I really like kind of was like, oh, well,
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: people might see it and I might get something like
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: there might be some momentum from it, you know, I
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: might get like bookings and things.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: That I really want to do.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: And I don't want to run around doing this material
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: the whole time and it's only like thirty minutes. Anyways,
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: I'm not going to write another thirty minutes so that
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: I have an hour, Like what if someone wants me to.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: Tour damn it?
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: And I don't know, so the like Larry Nuts or
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Survivor to work. Yeah, untouchable, true, sure other material about focus.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: On my thirty minutes now is like pretty much exclusively
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: like about my family and growing.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Up and why what happened growing up?
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: Nothing? Well I got molested, but I'm just kidding.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: But uh, my dad, that was also such a super.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: But this is you know, I don't know if you listen,
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: but like that's the kind of thing where I get
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: uncomfortable and I faked me.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: But I put it out there and now I can't
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: do it and now I need I need another thing.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: But wait, what about your time?
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: My dad grew medical marijuana like legally in our home.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: Love that I was going to say, all, yeah, no, no,
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: it was like fully like Lewis, like Michigan I think
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: legalized it in two thousand and eight.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: So we were one of the first dates.
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: I think we were maybe the first date after California
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: to legalize marijuana or not recreational medical marijuana. And so
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: my like my dad did that, and so I was
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: kind of like a stinky kid.
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: Like I smelled like weed and that was hard.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: So I feel like I have I've been working on
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: jokes about that. He doesn't love it, but it's I mean,
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: but it's something.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: It was legal and everything else that's happening in your life,
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: it'd happened.
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: No exactly and so like, but it was just that
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: was a little bit difficult. I just grew up in
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: a very small rural town. Me and my brother were
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: latchkey kids for a long time. So I have a
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: lot of jokes about like how I would be the
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: worst in a Stanford prison experiment because like of the
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: things I did to my brother.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I have.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: I had two dogs for a long time and then
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: one of them she just kicked it in December. So
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: I've been working on a lot of dead dogs stuff.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: It's all pretty dark.
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: It will continue to be dark, I think, but I
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: don't know so I but it was important to me
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: that I had.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: An hour before I recorded the special that wasn't about
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: that at all, so that I could prove to myself
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: and others.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: What's your relationship advice? You said you've been throwing a
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: lot of break tips.
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: Oh God, don't do them. No, I keep getting cheated on,
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: And would you just steal from me or something more exciting,
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Like, how else please?
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: I had a friend she went out with the doctor
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: and stole his prescription pad.
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: Oh that's kind of fucking slick.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: I like that.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: It was back in the day. I don't even think
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: that pymore.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: It was a while ago.
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: They don't have pads anymore.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: It's electronic.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: It's all like they phone it in lame. Yeah, okay,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: anything else we missed CJ anyone else before? We like
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: button out?
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: How did you guy get into farming medical marijuana? Like like, yeah,
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: I don't know looking to get into it. He just
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: wants to know for research purposes.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: I don't really know exactly what happened. I know that
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: our next door neighbor I knew that he must have
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: been thinking about it for a long time. And our
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: next we had a the weirdest situation. We had a
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: rental house in the country as our neighbor. So every
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: year we'd get like a new family that.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Dad love talking to the next door Oh yeah, my.
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: Dad was like, don't come over here.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: It's like we're going to live in the middle of nowhere.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: I want there to be a rental next door. Who
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I don't talk.
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: It was a family for the longest time, and then
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: they got a divorce and the dad moved to Florida
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: and then kept the house and rented it out.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: It's still to this day, but the family the seasonal rental.
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: No like a like a just people just live there. Yeah.
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: Yeah, No, it's like a regular ship house, you know,
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: like next to my parents ranch style home, you know which,
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: And also I don't know if you guys do you
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: guys know what a ranch style home. It's okay, cool
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: make it's like a trailer with a roof and in
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: a basement. But uh but anyways, they started one of
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: the families that lived there for the longest time. I'm
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: actually the godmother of her child that she had when
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: she was a teenager.
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: Shout out.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: But they moved in and we just started smelling it.
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: You just started smelling it. And the story from my
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: mom is.
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: That they were standing like looking out the kitchen window
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: and my dad was just like fucking arms crossed looking
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: at the neighbor's house. And some of my dad's friends
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: had also started to grow eat indoors and my mom
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: was like, just do it, about it, just do it,
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: and so he went out and got his license and
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: then we weren't allowed in the basement anymore.
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: So I thought we got a tanning bed.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: But all right, so thank you for joining us. Where
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: can people catch you? Where can they watch the special?

- 1:07:44Speaker 2: They're going to be call me a wh hates Boston.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: That's not what this week anyway, I did. I did
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: because of the Pi eater thing.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Okay, okay, Taylor Swift wedding guy clash disabled Danny wrote
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: in a wedding venue that is another.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: One who's always in the comments. Hey, disabled Danny and
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: sweetest carrying the show disabled.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: A wedding venue that is secretly operated by the mob
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: is the most NYC thing I've ever heard.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I'm convinced that it was. You know what,
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: I don't want to know neither.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Listen, I'm looking at I've got enough people on me. Uh, Melissa,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: please hear the green seasoning recipe.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: I promise next episode I will. Oh someone wants that
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: I want, I do too. I'll make you some. Yeah,
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: you also said you would. Okay, God, some of us
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: are busy. I can't.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Yes, you're right, you're right. It's not your responsibility to
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: educate the white man on how to.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: Wash chicken. To wash my chicken, Okay.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: I feel like I haven't answered any anyone's legal questions
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: lately because we've been talking about a one armed woman
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: getting a manicure for three episodes.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: So let's see, is there any question? Are there any questions?
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Just everyone writing about the hell it was like? And
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: people want me to have a cocktail every podcast. I
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: will not.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: My husband had to pick me up guys okay, and
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: looked very worried for me, looks so concerned. He was like,
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: are you sure.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: AND's coming to get you. I'm like, yeah, he's coming,
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Are you sure?
- 1:09:23Speaker 7: Yes, it's left your eyes. And then he's like walking
- 1:09:25Speaker 7: away slow and he's like, get home safe. Melissa, Okay,
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: Melissa and Michael. So many things I want to say.
- 1:09:32Speaker 7: I don't know who wrote this in we don't have
- 1:09:34Speaker 7: a name, but first time, Michael, screw you for hating
- 1:09:36Speaker 7: Colorado people. I don't hate Colorado people.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Oh man, this is Jenny. This is Jenny.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Okay, Jenny, about the Denver Airport, you said that no
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: one goes to Denver, but yeah, it's actually one of
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: the busiest airports in the world.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Have you read all the weird conspiracy stuff around the
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Denver Airport. CJ was telling me about this. Okay, next
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: episode when we start, I'm going to talk about we'll
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: do I want to research all the Denver Airport conspiracy
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: theories because people are saying it's run by the Illuminati,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: and honestly that it doesn't make sense why the shuttle
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: does that, so it might actually be the Illuminati. I'm
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna put on my tinfoil hat for that one,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: and I'm going to get I'm going to get this
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: is a deep dive that I have to do with
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: three in the morning after a gummy. So I'm going
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: to do the research. I do the hard work so
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: you don't have to, uh, and I'm going to get
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: back to you on the Denver airport.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Please do We're rivetted. There is a DM question.
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: Oh okay, so Kate Mulligan says, Hi, friends who don't
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: know me, but I love everything about the boof that
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: you thanks, Kate. Do you have any information about Habeast documents?
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Oh? Like HABEAS? Okay, So she just.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: Signed up to volunteer in so Cal hoping it's legit
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: because it gives me tangible.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: To do and to be of service.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: So I think which is probably asking about is HABEAS
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: corpus claims in federal cores. So basically what's happening right
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: now is because the bond rules that the Trump administration
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: and ICE arem hoosing on immigrants in America are so
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: strict that what's happening is many attorneys are taking the
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: case from Immigration court and filing a separate hearing for
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: a habeas petition saying that this person is being un
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: wrongfully detained for extended periods of time and therefore should
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: be granted a habeas petition because they're like basic human
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: rights are being denied and Immigration court sorry, and so
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: they get that decision from the federal court. That's the
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: circuit of wherever you are. This person's at California, and
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: then you would take that decision back to immigration court
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: and be like, look, the federal circuit is granting relief,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: you need to grant them bond because the bond rules.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: Are so strict. Okay, Ken, you explain what Habe's corpus is.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: So a Habe's petition is just like as a formal
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: way to make people who are jailing, you produce the
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: prisoner and say why they're holding them. Okay, So it's
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: like it's a mechanism that way.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's a form of accountability. But you can volunteer.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: So this is another cool way that volunteers and people
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: who work at nonprofits can help people who are detained.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: Because a lot of the times when I go to
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: court for a bond hearing, they're like, we won't even
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: hear it because of these rules, I don't even get
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: a chance to litigate it sometimes. Okay, so then people
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: like Kate who wrote in are working for a nonprofit,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: then they go to.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: A different court with it.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Okay, so we're trying to like glue it together sort
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: of is how that's working anyway. Thank you for watching
