- 0:00You're listening to banter with the boys talking all things sports from
- 0:07betting and brawls, Superball to Stanley Cup finals. Get laced up. It's time for
- 0:16banter with the boys.
- 0:24Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of Rinkside Chirps. I'm your host
- 0:28Kevin. This week we've got Smelty back but also the infamous Kyle has returned
- 0:33from the sickness. Kyle, how you doing buddy? Feeling way better. If you guys
- 0:37haven't been to Vegas before you guys should check it out. It's a hell of a
- 0:41time there. I had a blast but got sick unfortunately but very excited to be
- 0:46back on. Was that your first time in Vegas? It was my first time in Vegas, yes. Oh okay.
- 0:50Okay. Funny fact, well not a funny, it's kind of sad actually. I haven't been on a
- 0:55plane in nine years. Oh. I'm not a good flyer. I had a couple drinks
- 1:03before at six in the morning. Our flight was at six in the morning. Oh boy. So I got a
- 1:08couple drinks in me and takeoff was way better. So really? Because I hate heights.
- 1:13I hate heights. I was on a plane to Vegas actually once too, lit up. Oh you know
- 1:19what? That was after a night of partaking in extracurriculars and then got on the
- 1:26plane just yeah no okay. I'm not a good flyer but with alcohol it's a lot better.
- 1:32Well I know we're happy to have you back. We pulled it off somehow last week
- 1:38without you but can't wait to hear your takes. I got some good ones coming.
- 1:45All right so first game of the two-game week for the Wild was the home opener
- 1:51and season opener for the Wild. It was the Florida Panthers at home for
- 1:54Minnesota. Game ended up as a 2-0 shutout for the Wild.
- 1:58Philip Gustafson outstanding showing in game one. Kyle what did you see? I saw
- 2:03Gus Bus playing out of his mind you know 41 saves against a tough Florida
- 2:09Panther team, cup contender team by the way. He was very impressive. He looked
- 2:14very comfortable. Poised he made some you know spectacular saves I thought. In my
- 2:20opinion I thought the Wild came up pretty flat season opener but you know
- 2:25it's game one so I can expect that a little bit. Yeah no doubt. Yeah Gus was
- 2:34ridiculous. I mean they'd get an odd man rush you're kind of expecting it and
- 2:39Gus would just stonewall him. I mean he played out of his mind you're absolutely
- 2:43correct. I know for me one of the things I noticed against Florida was the play
- 2:53of favor. I was curious to see if he would kind of show us what he showed us
- 3:01in the playoffs a little bit and obviously he was really green to the NHL
- 3:05in the playoffs so but we needed his help and he still made a small difference
- 3:10in the playoffs and now you're kind of I guess what I'm saying is I was looking
- 3:14for him to repeat that and or take another step forward which I think he
- 3:18has. The way he as weird as this sounds the way he controls his body on the ice
- 3:26and then uses his body to give him an advantage mixed with his with his speed
- 3:32and actually his puck handling skills it reminds me a little bit of Kev's guy
- 3:36Dumba. You know I think favor could maybe give us a little bit of an offensive
- 3:42jolt as well. Yeah a hundred percent. He's you know what in the playoffs I thought
- 3:47he was I thought he was fantastic in the playoffs. He plug-and-play like he's he's
- 3:54that good go for captain. I mean from the first two games especially against
- 4:00Florida like his gap control is ridiculous like what I've noticed more
- 4:05is now that he's with Brodean you know he I like this is let's just talk about
- 4:14before favor it was Dumba and Brodean. I think my my biggest question was you
- 4:22know why why is Brodean like I want to see Brodean jump up in the play a lot
- 4:27because he's probably one of the best skaters. Oh like best in my opinion bro I
- 4:32put Brodean as probably one of the best defensive skaters just watch him skate
- 4:38like he's so smooth and it's smooth and effortless. I get what you're saying I
- 4:45get what you're saying. But what I'm saying is I my biggest question was why
- 4:48didn't Brodean jump up in the play before because I think Dumba got you
- 4:55know gets too excited sometimes he jumps up in the play pinch has pinches you
- 5:01know gets a grip too aggressive and Brodean kind of stays back a little bit
- 5:05more but now you put in favor his speed his awareness in my opinion I think
- 5:13favor and Brodean are the best defensive pairing in the NHL that's my hot take
- 5:19that's my hot take. This is game I know it's game two but watching this is game one no
- 5:27we're talking about game one. Okay but we're gonna talk about two games right now but
- 5:31favor and Brodean in my opinion are one of the best if not the best defensive
- 5:39pairs in the NHL. Damn. And by the way I think keep an eye on for this I think
- 5:43yes I think Brock favor and Brodean are probably the best tandem in Minnesota
- 5:48Wild History. Holy. Write that down. Wow so best tandem in Minnesota Wild
- 5:54History. Yes yes it's not. Do you remember Brent Burns and Nick Schultz at all?
- 5:59Hardly. I mean yeah I remember Brent Burns and Nick Schultz. Oh damn. Nick Schultz was he was alright but like he wasn't
- 6:06special in my opinion he was a bottom six guy you know he was he was good he
- 6:11was okay when he needed to be good he didn't stand out what was his point I
- 6:16don't even know his career stats but favor you know he scored he I mean his
- 6:22wrist shot against Bobrovsky this game it was a snipe it was a snipe and it was a
- 6:26wrist shot was a low hard shot off the post I honestly think Brock favor and
- 6:33Brodean are the best tandem in Minnesota Wild History we should be excited. Okay
- 6:38that's I mean that's fair I mean and you can't deny Brock's offensive abilities
- 6:44I mean you saw it at the Minnesota or at the University of Minnesota he would do
- 6:50the same thing there so lucky lucky for us Minnesota fans were used to seeing it
- 6:55and now it's now he's translating it to the NHL speed again and I didn't watch
- 7:00gopher I watched a lot of hockey because when we acquired favor in the Kevin
- 7:06Fiala deal I was watching you know I got more interested in the Gophers because
- 7:11of favor and to be honest I didn't know what we were getting like people were
- 7:16talking about when we were about to trade Fiala we a lot of people had the
- 7:21Devils as the target and targeting one of their top forward prospects I didn't
- 7:26think we would get a defensive prospect but I think that's because they knew you
- 7:33know Garen knew that I think Dumba was gonna be out the door in the next you
- 7:38know season so that's why I think they made the move for a really good prospect
- 7:44like Brock Faber one more one more little tidbit on Brock Faber and then if you
- 7:48have anything to add on Brock go ahead Kev sorry we're just gonna I could talk
- 7:53I could talk takes going on yeah we're just steamrolling here but one other
- 7:58thing I just wanted to bring up about Brock Faber and that game one game one
- 8:03of 82 remember folks yeah the time on ice guess who led our team on time on
- 8:09ice game one was a favor it was favor yeah yeah so like trust him and that's
- 8:14huge that's huge because Dean Dean I feel like don't trust nobody no you know
- 8:18like I actually see I saw Dean at the golf course this this summer actually we
- 8:23played at what is it called the Royal on Woodbury that's kind of like a good
- 8:27course Wild's home course or whatever and my buddy is like dude that's Dean I
- 8:32was like nah and sure enough it was Dean so my buddy I didn't know what to do
- 8:36right I was just kind of like watching him drive away in his nice Jeep or whatever
- 8:39my buddy's like yeah go wild blah blah blah Dean's just like whoa yeah you know
- 8:44not knowing who that is but like you don't trust nobody so it is interesting
- 8:48to see him trust favor in game one right out yeah and I'm gonna add one more
- 8:53thing Marcus Johansson that that interference call or that I didn't think
- 8:58it was it should have been called but it was when he got hurt guess who was the
- 9:03first one that went in Brock Faber yeah I was actually impressed guess who went
- 9:09right in yeah I was impressed to see Brock jump up in there and do that you
- 9:12got to think some of the younger guys that are new to the league they might not
- 9:15want to jump in there and I'm not quite sure who hit him and got him hurt or
- 9:17whatever but I'm sure it wasn't just some little piddly dude on the ice it's
- 9:20probably a beefier guy Johansson's a big dude he got hurt you don't want to see
- 9:24that happen but I was impressed I literally have it in my notes there was
- 9:26first goal I was sad to see dumb ago but like to see Brock Faber jump up in his
- 9:30place and really kind of attest to that role that he had played then also he
- 9:34stepped up for Johansson in the third period which I thought was a huge
- 9:36testament to him going forward and that just goes to show you like you said in
- 9:39previous episode like the leadership you know fully up full you know you got
- 9:44Hartman you got all these good veterans and you know the young players are you
- 9:48know they love to love to see that absolutely all right so talking about
- 9:54game one still somebody that I was super impressed with number 14 Eric
- 9:58Sinek I think he gets a lot of credit but also he gets a lot of crap for what
- 10:02he kind of goes through and what he deals with but I was very impressed game
- 10:05one solid offensive stats talk about one thing for the game in general though the
- 10:10Minnesota Wilds face-off percentage was garbage has been since we lost Mika
- 10:15Koivu have not found that face-off man that number one center that we need
- 10:19however Eric Sinek first game 52.9 percent face-off win percentage I'm not
- 10:25quite sure how that stacks up in the league when I was pretty impressed to
- 10:28see that also some other stats for game one he had a goal and an assist all in
- 10:34game one a two-point game for game one of the season I'm not too upset about
- 10:37that Kyle what do you what do you guys say about
- 10:40acting buddy yeah I think we all miss Eric Sinek especially in the playoffs
- 10:44last year that I mean that really killed us I mean I you know you just go through
- 10:49that Dallas you know they they won every draw and Eric Sinek by far is our best
- 10:53guy so no he looked fantastic yesterday didn't miss a beat same player feisty
- 11:00gets in the dirty areas and big body I love the line that he's on with with
- 11:07Boldy and and Johansson I think I think that line can do some damage and that's
- 11:14probably right now probably the best in my opinion the best line really yeah
- 11:19okay yeah I like it what do you think what the other two guys in the line real
- 11:21quick what do you think what other two Boldy and Johansson how do you think they
- 11:24had on first game one not game one I thought they were the best line sure
- 11:30Johansson and Boldy that you know they can dish the puck so well Johansson so
- 11:35he's very under he's an underrated skater people don't realize how fast he
- 11:40is coming into the zone a lot of the times are you know the defense the other
- 11:45teams are like what the fuck and he'll just like go right in and you know he not
- 11:49very underrated player it I just want him to stay healthy because I think his
- 11:54whole career has been you know he gets gets hurt a little bit and has a setback
- 11:59you know but if he's you know if he's ready if he's healthy you know he's it's
- 12:07not a bad he's not a bad player he's pretty he's pretty solid you know so I
- 12:12like it I like that line who else you like on the wild so far this season
- 12:16there Kyle you had some pretty hot takes about one of the newest guys here that
- 12:20put on a couple of pounds in the offseason who do you got Marco Rossi
- 12:24stood out to me he looked way more comfortable than he did and I don't even
- 12:28know how many games he played last year but it was probably like four or five
- 12:32and obviously I I didn't like this he started on like the fourth line I think
- 12:39like last year and with his skill set in my opinion he should have been at least
- 12:44at least in the third the third line minimum or else just put him in Iowa and
- 12:49just have him you know just play that full season and you know he he had a
- 12:54really good year down there and he looks way more comfortable he's gained a few
- 12:59pounds he's not getting knocked off the puck easily he's going into the corners
- 13:03he's coming up you know away with the puck and in that goal too that got
- 13:09waved off earlier he you know he that's a skill play right there he like held
- 13:16onto the puck it made a little move held it wait waited for Bobrovsky to move you
- 13:23know cross and it was a beautiful goal I you know it takes a lot of skill the
- 13:29skill wasn't a question it was always you know the he just got knocked off the
- 13:34puck and right now he looks damn good and the wild need that right now they
- 13:39need that center they need they needed him to be what he was drafted for what
- 13:46he should be what he should be right yeah so but he let he looks damn good
- 13:49and I'm very excited for this year to see what he has yeah you can tell he
- 13:55kind of calmed down a little bit the games maybe lack of better terms
- 13:59slowing down a little bit for him he's able to see the ice a little bit better
- 14:03so I completely agree with you I guess we'll see you know how he shapes up as
- 14:09we move along at the season I did want to mention one thing about Marcus Felino
- 14:14there's a lot of wild fans actually hate Felino I don't know I don't know why I
- 14:19think it's more or less the money he's getting paid they're expecting to put
- 14:22pucks in the net well you know a few a couple seasons ago he was putting a lot
- 14:28of points on the board well that's because he had to right we didn't really
- 14:32have nobody else yet like Corrella was kind of just getting into the league
- 14:36kind of just figuring it out but we have other guys now surrounding him Hartman
- 14:42Correll's a Corrella I mean there's other guys that'll put the puck in the
- 14:46net so now I think you're starting to see him kind of fall into this role of
- 14:51more of the enforcer which is what we need and you know we brought on Patrick
- 14:56Maroon as well to kind of help out with that because Felino can't do it all on
- 15:00his own so one thing I did want to mention for game one is that Felino had
- 15:04seven hits the next highest hit total on our team that game was two so Felino's
- 15:11definitely bring in some of the pound for lack of better terms yeah I mean the only
- 15:17thing I didn't like about Felino's there there was one you remember that penalty
- 15:23that we all know who Tuchuk is right he's an antagonizer yeah he he gets
- 15:29under opponent's skin like crazy but yeah that that penalty even though it
- 15:35was kind of garbage like you still can't like people wanted a dive from to Chuck
- 15:40but like in my opinion it was it was interference like you can't do that
- 15:46anyway so I just want him to calm down a little bit and not get a penalty because
- 15:53that's what kind of you know what the team like Florida they can put the puck
- 15:57in the net but their power play I mean they they're stacked up front so that
- 16:02that's my only criticism about Felino I love him as a person he's a very great
- 16:08leader yeah Kevin yes I think to your point there I love
- 16:11Felino as well I'm disappointed that he put himself in that position right
- 16:14obviously end of the game you're fighting for your goal ten at that point
- 16:18right you just I don't know how many minutes were left in the game when he
- 16:20got that embellish or that an interference or whatever they called it
- 16:23there I agree with you though definitely should have gotten an embellishment on
- 16:26to Chuck's side of things I'm disappointed that wasn't called
- 16:29obviously everybody in the arena I was here at the Wilds home rank so they're
- 16:33gonna obviously cheer for the home team but it was obvious that he barely got
- 16:37bumped or got kind of nudged a touch and then you just dove which
- 16:40disappointing but also to your point to Chuck is that kind of player yeah he's
- 16:44kind of a greasy weird dude that just does what he can to help his team and I
- 16:47don't know him but it was a dive but like you still can't make that hit I
- 16:54mean it was it if it wasn't a it it would be interference for me like that
- 16:59you could have had it be an interference call but either way like he I kind of
- 17:06wanted to stay out of the BS especially with to Chuck I mean we all know who he
- 17:10is so right very scrappy dude ever right moving on to the second game of the
- 17:18Minnesota Wild season it was Minnesota Wild at the Toronto Maple Leafs
- 17:22unfortunately the wild fell by three in a game seven to four it clearly was the
- 17:27Austin Matthews show we'll get into that for sure
- 17:29Gustafson a pretty decent game but we'll talk about him in a little bit as well
- 17:34pretty overall just an interesting back-and-forth ping-pong match Kyle
- 17:39right what do you what are your overall thoughts on that game obviously good
- 17:44stuff to see some bad stuff to see I think got some hot takes talk me through
- 17:47what you saw quick yeah I thought there was a there's actually quite a few you
- 17:53know I was there's a couple points that intrigued me in this game but yeah the
- 17:57you know Toronto is just so stacked up front I mean you put him on the power
- 18:01play you know they got Nylander Tavares Matthews who why am I spacing out here
- 18:11but who was he was he yeah Domi no not Domi but like but no anyways they're
- 18:19just stacked up front you put them on the power play it's it's not even fair
- 18:23like I don't really blame Gus on those power play goals you mean there's just
- 18:31not much you can do there it's almost automatic you know Matthews he's got six
- 18:38goals in two games like back-to-back hat-tricks you I mean that's just it's
- 18:43unbelievable but yeah they're just they're just stacked up front and you
- 18:48know it's hard to stop that Matthews came out firing what do you see from
- 18:54Coril with this game Kevin yeah so obviously Matthews and Corilla the kind
- 18:59of number one and number one player for both teams there one of the big things
- 19:03that I saw from Kapriyosov that I'm getting just absolutely dumbfounded by
- 19:08is every time he's got a breakaway he'll break into the zone and just stop before
- 19:12the circle and then wait for support last season when Kapriyosov was doing
- 19:17crazy numbers he would take that in he'd body the guy next to him and he pushed
- 19:21to the net go for a penalty try to get somebody to take him out whatever the
- 19:24case was this happened four or five times over the first two games and it's
- 19:28driving me crazy I get you want to pull up and get help but dude take it to the
- 19:34net you're friggin Coril Kapriyosov yeah that's an interesting take there yeah
- 19:38there's a lot of times he did that but yeah like I wish one-on-one it's
- 19:45so hard to you know it's hard to not take the puck away from him because he's
- 19:49so good I do wish he kind of held on the puck and like just did his own thing a
- 19:55little bit like maybe circle around the and that like you know he he did like
- 19:59we're used to seeing yeah we're used to seeing but at the same time I don't I
- 20:05don't think I hate it as much as you do I think I mean how there was a lot of
- 20:10times where he would just pat like he'd make the open pass like it was a it I
- 20:16mean we had I think that was middle he passed it to Middleton goose both by the
- 20:23way had really rough games but they they fanned on it they didn't get a shot off
- 20:28it's not Coril's I don't blame Coril for that I thought he made the right play
- 20:34but at the same time yeah I'd like to I'd like to see him be more aggressive
- 20:38take the puck in a little bit more fine you know make make a wild play like we
- 20:43used to see a little bit more but make a wild play no pun intended
- 20:48but I get what you're saying about Coril and actually I didn't really notice that
- 20:54right away but now that you mentioned it I know what you're saying and I'm
- 20:59curious if it's a more of maybe he's growing as an all-around player you know
- 21:06knowing that he can't do it by himself now to your point Kyle like yeah he
- 21:10pulled up pass it out now we fanned on the shot or now we didn't get any shot
- 21:13on goal at all so I get what you're saying so I I don't know that's that'll
- 21:19be an interesting thing to look forward to in the next three games this week and
- 21:23kind of see if anything changes there or what but for me it's more I don't know
- 21:29it's more of a maybe the growth of Coril I could see that but at the same time I
- 21:35don't really blame them for it if anything the ones the one I blame is you
- 21:41know Middleton and Goose for not corralling the puck and getting a shot
- 21:44on that because they were open passes for the most part but yes I want to I
- 21:49want to see Coril be more aggressive with the puck that but one thing I will
- 21:52say about Coril these first two games is he's all over the ice but in a good way
- 21:56the dude is a puck magnet whether he's got the puck on a stick or he's he's
- 22:02back checking I don't know like the dude is all over the ice so I can appreciate
- 22:08that it's not like it's not like Ovechkin what five years ago where the
- 22:13team would enter like the Capitals defensive zone and Ovechkin would just come
- 22:18strolling in late as hell like at least Coril's in it and he's trying to get the
- 22:23puck back so it's good to see this early in the season right I think to your point
- 22:27there Smelty so first game Kaprizov had four shots on goals a goal and an assist
- 22:32second game the one we're talking about right now he had an assist and two shots
- 22:35on goals so your goal so you to your point about him being a puck magnet I
- 22:38don't disagree with that at all I'm happy to see him do that I just I just
- 22:42wish we'd see as stupid as it sounds I'd love to see the the Kaprizov laps are
- 22:46on the around the zone just see him take a little bit more of that time to
- 22:49really kind of lock in and find the right pass to make versus these blind BS's
- 22:53through the slot and then he's get taken and thrown away because when he would do
- 22:57his I don't know speed circles will call him last year because he's so fast he's quick
- 23:02he's so fast and he would just if you are a wild fan obviously there's a good
- 23:06chance you are listening to this pod but you know he would just spin around what
- 23:10two three times before he'd make a play at the puck either then he'd shoot it
- 23:14out of nowhere or he'd pass it to somebody but you never knew when he
- 23:17would do it so that I actually liked it it was so weird and maybe unorthodox
- 23:21maybe a little bit but you never knew what was gonna happen he was waiting for
- 23:27his teammates to move which last year unfortunately we saw a little bit where
- 23:30they would just stand around because they didn't know what what he was doing
- 23:33yep that first and you've seen him kind of get used to it as the season
- 23:36progressed but he's waiting for you guys to move get open you know make a play
- 23:40yeah I don't think he's in my this is my opinion but I don't think he's the
- 23:45fastest skater he's more shifty than fast I'm not saying he's a fast skater
- 23:50no no but like he like it when you're when you're one-on-one he there was a
- 23:59few times he did have momentum with the puck but at the same time I he's probably
- 24:04felt like well I probably can't you know I wish I could drive the net but he's
- 24:09got me you know beat on this side so I'm gonna have to I will pull up and find an
- 24:13open man which he did great pass but again like I wish he would be a little
- 24:18bit more aggressive hold on to the puck a little bit more because he can do that
- 24:21he's he's that player that can dish it out and and he probably has the best
- 24:26shot too so why not you know try to at least attempt a shot because he can
- 24:30snipe from it from anywhere and his passing is elite yeah we saw it last
- 24:34year obviously the season just started but his passing is elite he's a playmaker
- 24:38as well absolutely I agree however one thing that's not as elite would be the
- 24:46overall play of our first line through the first two games and Kyle I know
- 24:50that's got you a little little worked up here so what what are you seeing out
- 24:55there yeah the first two games man they they've been passengers in my opinion
- 25:00you just need way more from your first line I think I've seen enough with
- 25:05Hartman on the first line give me Rossi right now on the first line the way even
- 25:10after two games you're still oh yeah even after two games give me give me Rossi
- 25:15any day of the week right now you wouldn't move back up to the first line
- 25:19no first give him it okay yeah I think Rossi's ready I think he should be able
- 25:25to I think he deserves a chance to be on the first line but as we know Dean
- 25:30Evison he doesn't like to change lines as much you know he's he kind of just
- 25:34sticks we've seen it in playoffs and he doesn't change he doesn't change so I'm
- 25:38afraid of that but I think Garen this season was like hey we need to start
- 25:43playing our young guys we need is even Addison like leave leave him in there
- 25:48but like don't send him back down but I really want Dean Evison to just start
- 25:55looking at the play and you know move Rossi up right now he deserves that spot
- 26:00so to your point about bringing Erickson Ek up to the first line I'm actually
- 26:05with Kyle on that I think that Ek as as great as he is as a front as a center
- 26:09man I think Rossi would be a better fit on that line I think Rossi is a little
- 26:13bit more nimble a little bit more greasy if you will with the puck I feel like
- 26:16he's got a little bit more finesse to his game a little more skill versus
- 26:20where I love Erickson Ek I think he's more of the kind of old-school koi we
- 26:22were he's just a solid player you know he's gonna be there when you need him
- 26:25versus with Rossi I think he might have a little bit more that finesse that
- 26:28Zuccarello and Kaprizov might need but the question is is can he win enough
- 26:32draws to even make it worth his while because if you lose that draw they're
- 26:36gonna be in the defensive zone right off the jump or you're gonna be just trying
- 26:40to play catch the puck for the entire shift and you burn your best guys out
- 26:44doing nothing right now I don't know what Hartman's face-off percentage is
- 26:48off the top of my head but I know he's not doing that great and that's a stat
- 26:53where I think you can just get better overall as each year progresses we've
- 26:57seen what what Erickson Ek can do but yeah I think Rossi fits a skill
- 27:05up you know fits a skill level with Correll I'd be excited it'd be really
- 27:09fun to watch why not just give it a chance and honestly you know
- 27:13yeah there's really nothing to lose for Hartman's face-off percentage right now
- 27:19is 40% through the first two games and that's against you know top-tier
- 27:23centers most likely and then you got Rossi sitting at 42.9% through the first
- 27:29two games and that's gonna be against lesser lesser skilled centers so I
- 27:34think to that point it is kind of a wash right now so why not why not bring him
- 27:39up there check him out see how he plays with Zuccarello and Correll on the
- 27:43first line which you have to think they've already been trying that in
- 27:47practice trying different combinations through training camp you would imagine
- 27:51but you know who knows and this is not a knock on Ryan Hartman but no he's not a
- 27:57one-center he's not a number one center he's not not he's not even a number two
- 28:00center in my opinion he's a he's a number three number four guy permanently
- 28:04right now do you think that Evison's putting him up there right now one
- 28:07because of his ability to just be a leader on the line or just the fact that
- 28:10he's making all this money right now I like that's part of it like Dean likes
- 28:14the veterans in my so he's gonna lean towards what oh well Hartman was with
- 28:19Pera last year you know why I'm not switching that up but yeah we're seeing
- 28:24that with Rossi's what what he can do and he looks like a damn good player and I
- 28:29want to see it so do you think it's a little too early in the season to make
- 28:34that kind of a major shift no you think just say screw it and send it now no no
- 28:39now is when you make that type of change really you have more time to think okay
- 28:42well that didn't work let's go back to this or let's try something different
- 28:46like now is when you start trying to figure out what's gonna work for later
- 28:50down the road yes injuries could happen and now you got to change shit up again
- 28:54right okay well why not figure out who can play with each other now so when an
- 28:58injury does inevitably happen you know who can play with who at that point and
- 29:03to be honest that third line you know let's say Hartman does move down like
- 29:07that line that's a solid third line Hartman Foligno and Gajero that's a
- 29:11solid third line that's a great third I love that third line that so I I really
- 29:16want Rossi number one and and I don't want to touch Eric's and next line I
- 29:21think they work just fine together that first line needs more mojo that's fair
- 29:26that's fair not Marcus Johansson just more yeah yeah yeah yeah so they they
- 29:33need yeah we just need more from the first that's fair I mean you got anything
- 29:37else to add about our top line not a buyer at the moment not about our top
- 29:41line struggles but I do have something to take us in the kind of our next topic
- 29:44here where I worry about the changing of lines you guys mentioned that Dean
- 29:50Evison's not a big line change guy throughout the entire game yesterday
- 29:54second and third period primarily the assistant coach changed the defensive
- 29:59pairings all game long we know for a fact that that game was a joke on our
- 30:05defensive pairings four goals against for Middleton three goals against for
- 30:08Goligoski including two penalties that resulted in a Matthews or just a goal in
- 30:12general so so are we all in a grants that maybe one maybe two goals are
- 30:18actually Gus's fault and the rest falls on our defensive play yeah I don't put
- 30:22Gus at fault at all that game it was definitely our defense and when you give
- 30:25the Maple Leafs a power play they're probably gonna score cuz with all that
- 30:29firepower all that talent up front it's just not fair and they were two for
- 30:33three on the power yeah so I thought they were gonna go three for three to be
- 30:36honest yeah for sure yeah for sure so I mean looking at the defensive play I
- 30:41mean obviously I'll just over here with just disgusted looks on our face
- 30:47man I just I just I keep replaying one play in my head and it was Nylander
- 30:53flying down the side Ericsson Eck perfectly back checks him does everything
- 30:58right but Goligoski and Middleton both allowed themselves to be washed out of
- 31:02the play by Tavares right in front of the net I blame Goligoski a little more
- 31:08you know at least one of you should say with Tavares in front of the net right
- 31:12at that play it should have been Middleton Goligoski you need to get
- 31:15over there and help Eck. Eck's not your primary defensive player on that play
- 31:20get the hell over there no Nylander made a hell heck of a play right and scored
- 31:25but come on man like that was literally a walk just a walk in there's nobody home
- 31:31nobody home yeah just a walk in like you can't allow that and I think I attribute
- 31:36some of that to just again you can't change your defensive pairings all game
- 31:40and Russo even tweeted about it in the middle of the third or late in the
- 31:43second period that they just kept changing those pairings up and don't get
- 31:46me wrong I know that Spurgeon's hurt you lost Dumba you got Goligoski who was on
- 31:51the friggin bench or in the you know the press box all last season for most of it
- 31:55so you got guys in there who are relatively new to the system new to the
- 31:58play style for the Wilds defensive pairings I was just disappointed not to
- 32:02see just some consistency within those if you guys guys that are playing like
- 32:05crap sit them let the guys that are doing well when play when Spurgeon is
- 32:10back I think Goligoski's to the box agreed it's not Addison Addison's gonna
- 32:16be in but because he's he's our power play he's like our you know what like a
- 32:22point guy for on the power play like you Klingberg you went to Toronto so
- 32:27Addison's are like top guy I don't see I don't see him or sending him down as
- 32:32they shouldn't they need to give Addison a real shot not this hey you had a you
- 32:37know bad defensive play but on the offensive side you did okay we're gonna
- 32:41send you down to Iowa they they need to have Addison up here because they just
- 32:46need to see what they have in him like this is his year like Goligoski to the
- 32:50to the moon and they yeah once Spurgeon is back I I've seen enough of
- 32:57Goligoski's Addison's on a one-year deal right it's a pretty kind of like a one
- 33:01year deal right yeah right so this is this is kind of his time to to shine
- 33:06or like kind of prove it so I agree a hundred percent with you on Addison what I need to personally see from Addison is calm the hell down he's out there he's so he's rigid if that makes sense he's so rigid and like robotic like dude calm down you play like you're supposed to be there because you've earned that opportunity and I think he's just still playing with way too many nerves right now he just every time he touches a puck he's twitchy with it he doesn't know what
- 33:36to do with it and I think that's just experience right so to your point
- 33:40absolutely leave him up here leave him in the lineup get him more clock he had he
- 33:45had the least amount of time on the ice last night for all of our defensive
- 33:49players which just shows you Dean's not ready to play him really which him and
- 33:53Dean got into a multiple times last season so I just don't want that to
- 33:58happen again and then you're sending Goligoski out there like now do you
- 34:02think that Addison's timid play I think timid play is probably a better way to
- 34:06put it do you think that as a direct result of those conversations we'll call
- 34:10him you know kind of air quotes with with with Dean Addison or do you think
- 34:14it's part of just him in fear of being sent back down again for a slappy like
- 34:18Goligoski if it if it is from because of the conversations with Dean and maybe
- 34:23he's a little nervous of that no offense but it's time to grow the f up yeah you
- 34:28know you're a professional hockey player you need to you need to take that
- 34:32criticism and turn it into fuel now if he's disrespecting him personally on a
- 34:38personal level that's completely different that's a problem that's that's
- 34:42now and that's a locker room problem as well if that's who your coach is but if
- 34:46he's just you know pushing him to be better by being a little bit aggressive
- 34:51with it I think that's okay and I think it's time for Addison to take that step
- 34:54up that it could be worse somewhere else you know so if your plan is to like oh
- 34:59I'll just play somewhere else next year how do you know it's gonna be different
- 35:02he just needs a real shot like give them just give them the season right now and
- 35:08see if it works out or not cuz you right now you got nothing to lose like he's a
- 35:11still young you know player with a lot of upside so what are we what are we
- 35:15paying him for this one year cuz you and I talked about this last last episode
- 35:19that he's in a one-year prove it deal how much is this tryout effectively
- 35:24costing the wild right now as you mentioned we got no money to spend and
- 35:28a guy who is timid possibly not getting a good shot what's what's the box I
- 35:33think I think it's a million yeah I think it's right around a million but
- 35:36either way like it just got to give him a chance 825 that is even better I
- 35:41expect it to be more than that so I'm not mad about that I think 875 or 825
- 35:46825 825 for a tryout for a year not a bad deal no but to your point Kyle he's
- 35:53got to get a shot yeah he needs a shot but also to smell see his point he's
- 35:57got to do something with it so I think it's gonna be a true test over the next
- 36:01few weeks to see who sticks around because again Spurgeon is week to week
- 36:05we would expect him hopefully back knock on wood by maybe early November a couple
- 36:09weeks coming up that'll give him a month out in the quote-unquote week to week
- 36:13kind of timeline otherwise he'd have been on long term IR it's a whole thing
- 36:16I think he'll probably be back in the next few weeks then again to your point
- 36:19I think Goligoski back to the press box put your suit on hang out bud Addison
- 36:24gets to keep his chance especially after the last game last night again three
- 36:29goals against and two penalties that I believe at least one of those resulted
- 36:32in a power play or a power play goal for Toronto I think Goligoski is gone not
- 36:37gone gone but like to the press box he should Addison to me like yeah he just
- 36:42needs a shot like we saw it with Rossi even like even the last year like we were
- 36:48I think all of us fans were so disappointed because there's just so
- 36:52much hype around Marco Rossi and that hey that could you know that could take a
- 36:56toll on you like in like in your mind like the whole fan base is counting on
- 37:00you to be the number one center I feel like it's kind of the same way with
- 37:03Addison a little bit well don't forget last year to the wilds like media team
- 37:07did an entire video series on Addison and on Rossi when they got there like hey
- 37:12you better find an apartment here you're sticking it out like congratulations or
- 37:15when Garen made the joke to Addison like how does number two sound over something
- 37:19to that effect yeah it's like that sounds like an actual number because
- 37:22you're here to stay and then what four six weeks later his ass is back in Iowa
- 37:26again hanging out with the slappies down there like I just there's a lot of
- 37:31pressure on both of them yep but I think Rossi I think is built different this
- 37:36season oh and I think he's ready to play and I think Addison needs to just buck
- 37:41up and to spout to your point man up and just be there you're there you know the
- 37:46first game wasn't I mean he didn't look great but I thought the second game it
- 37:50was a little bit better but I to be honest second game was just a trainwreck
- 37:56for a lot of our players so I mean Toronto's a good team don't get me
- 38:02wrong but I still think I still believe in Addison I still think he'll be a good
- 38:08player in my opinion so we'll see if he makes it past this season right yeah I
- 38:12kind of hope to prove a deal one final thing that I want to talk about real
- 38:17fast here for the second game and I saw is Ryan Reeves made an appearance that
- 38:21was pretty easily felt across the entire Minnesota lineup obviously Revo just
- 38:27left the wild last season I love to see him with the wild but also you hate to
- 38:30see him on the bench across from you or next year right so a couple of things
- 38:34their first hit or to me first period double hits same shift he ran right
- 38:39through Rossi right up against the boards crunched him thankfully Rossi got up
- 38:42no problems second right after about 10 seconds later he ran through 89 Freddy
- 38:48Goudreau and he went out for the rest of the first period did not look good right
- 38:52after the second hit who do we talk about before Marcus Foligno he came in
- 38:56took care of business little scrap for the ages there between the two of them I
- 39:01just disappointed to see our guys getting crumbled like that but with
- 39:05Reeves on the bench next to you you kind of have to expect some rough and stuff
- 39:09rough stuff yeah you know it's gonna happen right and then Foligno coming in
- 39:13immediately dropping gloves I think that was a good sight to see yes wasn't
- 39:17scared no he immediately was like okay let's go then it was a good scrap that
- 39:21wasn't like a little baby fight that was a scrap no those are two big boys going
- 39:24in there so yeah I didn't think the the hits were I mean obviously you don't
- 39:28want to see those against our players but they were clean hits like the second
- 39:32hit was close no well Goudreau had his head down and like he it was it wasn't a
- 39:37dirty hit in my opinion it was close to an elbow to the head though like he
- 39:43aimed it up that way and that's just who Revo is that's it we loved having him on
- 39:46our team last year because he would do the dirty you know yeah that's just who
- 39:50he is it's a hockey play there in my opinion but like yeah it's crazy how you
- 39:55go from buddies best friends to enemies in a year but like at the same I bet
- 40:00off like you know if let's take hockey out for a second I bet they're still
- 40:05friends like it's crazy how you can just oh yeah let's just look yeah let's
- 40:10fucking go let's drop the gloves like yeah so to that point Kyle there was an
- 40:13article that Russo wrote last night about the game and Russo even talked
- 40:16about how Freddie Goudreau his kids had talked about Ryan Reeves like are you
- 40:21guys friends he's like yeah we're still friends like it's it's on the ice you
- 40:24guys are enemies because that's what you're there for that's why you're
- 40:27making a million bucks a year making a good bit of money per year but off the
- 40:30ice you separate that it's just the same thing as separating personal life and
- 40:33work life it's the same concept except for these guys are obviously beating
- 40:37the shit out of each other so a little bit of a different situation there but
- 40:40enough about Ryan Reeves and those hits thankfully Freddie Goudreau did come
- 40:43back and obviously had a pretty solid game great job on the face-off that when
- 40:47Rossi got pulled out but I know Kyle you want to talk about Rossi a little bit
- 40:50yeah what you see man he is looking he's looking real comfortable I I said it
- 40:55before but yeah put him on the first line right now he deserves it he's he's
- 40:59actually probably he's playing like our best forward right now in my opinion
- 41:03even with Carilla and like he's he's you notice him when he has the puck when
- 41:07he's battling like just give him a shot I thought like his goal I mean I couldn't
- 41:14be any more like I couldn't be more happy first career goal for him for real
- 41:18yeah first career NHL goal finally well even though he got he did technically
- 41:25score last game that was a beautiful goal but no offsides this time no
- 41:28offsides this time I'm glad he got the it just it just seems like he like
- 41:34exhaled like there's no monkey on his back anymore like it's just now he's
- 41:38just he's just sailing away here but yeah like that play alone and let's just
- 41:45it was a bad game but like let's just talk about the positives here like I
- 41:50thought Faber again was fantastic plus three and we lose 7-4 but
- 41:57Faber was great yeah he's the one that made that that that goal like on the Rossi's
- 42:02first goal like you see him driving into the zone like that's that's what you
- 42:06need I mean we don't have a high octane offense like in my opinion so but what
- 42:13we do have is some really good mobile defensemen that can get up in the play
- 42:17that can skate well that can cover back like we have a really good well obviously
- 42:22this game wasn't they're about to say that they just got like defense you have
- 42:25spurging you put spurging back in it's a little bit of yeah it's a top in my pin
- 42:30top five defense but Faber man like just a stud already just he he was fantastic
- 42:37again him and Brodean I'll say it again best defensive pair in Minnesota wild
- 42:42history so but yeah a very impressive night for from both of them I thought
- 42:48even though it was a 7-4 loss talking about Faber real quick his foot on his
- 42:52first shifts he just absolutely looked like a monster went all the way down the
- 42:56boards left hand side hit the blue line by the the goal line there and then just
- 43:01came back a little greasy tuck and almost had a goal on his own just missed
- 43:06getting a little elevation on that I even thought to myself but he's like
- 43:08doing the play when it happened at the replay like dang if he could have gotten
- 43:11that puck up on edge just a touch he was a little like an inch below the top of
- 43:16the goalies pad that could have been a greasy single-handedly goal right there
- 43:19you're talking about mobile defenseman that's his first one of the first shifts
- 43:22of the game for the kid I was happy with that 100% well and that play just shows
- 43:27you the sheer speed he actually possesses you know he's greasy so I think
- 43:31he's gonna catch a lot of teams off guard that just don't know really know
- 43:34who he is yet and they won't but I think they will if he's just yeah no no no no
- 43:41doubt no doubt and I think if like if he's bringing the puck into the zone all
- 43:44sudden he can just flip a switch turn on the Jets and get around the corner you
- 43:48they're gonna have to be ready for that it's gonna be tough opponents need to
- 43:52be really prepared for that I think that's you know going talking about
- 43:55being prepared for that let's talk about next next week's games right boys one
- 43:59more thing here but yeah Faber I think Brodin's point totals this year will
- 44:05increase a lot like probably but he'll probably have one of the best seasons
- 44:10statistically because of what Faber can bring and they they're both very similar
- 44:16players I think Brock has a little bit more offensive skill but I love seeing
- 44:20those two jump in the play like I've been waiting for Brodin to get up there
- 44:24because I know how well he can skate but this is just exciting to see the top two
- 44:28players in plus-minus on the team right now Brock Faber Jonas Brodin yeah not
- 44:34surprising that's I mean that's awesome it's good to see and once I love Dumba I
- 44:38know that that Brodin had to take a backseat a little bit because he had to
- 44:41kind of be there and be home in case Dumba made a goofy play right and I'm
- 44:44talking about that last episode my die-hard Dumba fan good for dude though
- 44:47got a goal in game one of you know the coyote season love to see it very happy
- 44:50talk about you just had to sneak it in I'm sorry I'm happy for him so that's
- 44:57awesome me too he's got a good good environment down there in Arizona I know
- 45:01it's weird environment but it's good for him little fresh start yeah well talk
- 45:05about fresh starts let's talk about next week's games boys we got three games in
- 45:09the slate coming up first big game coming up this week at the Montreal
- 45:13Canadiens next we've got home against the Kings and home against the Blue
- 45:17Jackets talking about back in the days of Bruce
- 45:20Boudreaux his theory was you want to win the week you got three games coming up
- 45:24I know Kyle you mentioned you'd like to see at least two wins out of that Kyle
- 45:27what are you looking forward this week yeah I want to see it well three would
- 45:31be great but of course yeah the Kings are Kings are tough but I think the wild
- 45:36can come up with four four out of the six I I at least want them to but other
- 45:42points oh okay six I was like wow I'm looking at the wrong week we both like
- 45:49what are you talking about yeah okay that makes sense and I want Rossi on the
- 45:52first line that's what I want to look for and I'm really curious because he he
- 45:56made a I think he made a look an impression on Dean and I hope it comes
- 46:02true like cuz he deserves a shot and why not you know I have to see what happens
- 46:07coming up this week smell see what do you want to see from the boys and green
- 46:09this week I'm gonna go ahead and agree with Kyle I think we get four out of the
- 46:13six points available with an L coming to the Kings I think the Canadians we
- 46:19should be able to beat them pretty handily I think you gotta watch out for
- 46:22what's his name Cole Caulfield you know a small he can knock him off the puck
- 46:27yeah he's a young guy though he's he's he's an up-and-comer that's why I said
- 46:31look out for him you know he's got a little bit of speed so just keep an eye
- 46:35out other than that is that all they have at really I mean truly truly I kind
- 46:42of spacing out on their roster for some reason that's that's about it bro they
- 46:47got Shane Monahan Shawn Monahan or Sean my bad yeah Sean Monahan and Cole
- 46:55Caulfield yeah yeah that's some guy named Alex New Hook I don't know him
- 47:01yeah okay I forgot about that he's there so what's not about the king still
- 47:06I'm not Montreal Montreal Montreal but yeah nothing nothing they they I don't
- 47:12even know defensively nothing that scares me defensively
- 47:17no no nothing that again that really scares me all that much they should win
- 47:23that game their top line defensive line looks pretty decent but other than that
- 47:29okay I think we're okay goalie wise they got an aging Jake Allen or yeah Jake
- 47:35Allen right that's his name not yeah aging Jake Allen I I'm not too concerned
- 47:42with with Montreal so that should be a win the Kings could be a little tougher
- 47:47right we are former Wild Player Fiala already off to a hot start and like you
- 47:53alluded to earlier they still have on say Colbert are I mean I think by feel
- 47:56if anything's gonna be tough it'll it'll be the Kings and they got a solid squad
- 48:01I think their goal tenning is the only sus spot right now they have Copley and
- 48:08Talbot back there obviously we know Talbot pretty well but he's streaky he's
- 48:12streaky and it can be a positive streak or a negative streak so absolutely I'm
- 48:16not too concerned with with that but I don't know if the Kings are gonna be
- 48:22tough maybe my Columbus boys I think Columbus is a win I think Columbus is
- 48:26struggling a little bit but I think they're kind of in but I think they're
- 48:33not rebuilding but close to it kind of similar to us in a way of like not a
- 48:37full quote unquote admitted rebuild but some some progress being made some
- 48:41moves being made and so you guys think so that should be a win you guys think
- 48:45easy win against Canadians yeah easy win against blue jackets Kings maybe tough
- 48:49we'll see how that pans out I think Montreal could be a tougher game than
- 48:53the blue jackets really okay I think Montreal is trying to come out of the
- 48:57dumpster but I think they're still there sure but I think they're I don't know I
- 49:02just get at least four out of the six yeah I'll be yeah okay so now the the
- 49:08question I post to you guys is after seeing Gustafson with a shutout in the
- 49:12last game of the preseason shutout game one of the season then just getting kind
- 49:16of slapped around pretty hard by Matthews and the Maple Leafs going forward into
- 49:21the next few games who do you start I think it's flurry I think you start
- 49:25flurry game one against Canadians yeah I think well no next game for sure I
- 49:29think it's flurry I don't think it's I think it's a no-brainer to be honest
- 49:33sure give Gus arrests I mean seven goals I mean none of those were his fault or
- 49:37maybe one or two yeah the game certainly didn't fall on Gus but it's
- 49:44it's gonna be a flurry in that next game okay in my opinion just just give Gus a
- 49:50little bit of a break for and then start them the following game yeah I agree I
- 49:55think flurry gets a start against Montreal I think if flurry gives up two
- 49:59or less goals in Montreal screw it go ahead start them against a good team
- 50:03against the Kings see what he's gonna look like and then kind of make your
- 50:08decision for the third game from there I think if flurry starts the next two then
- 50:12Gus definitely gets game three of the week okay but I think if flurry just
- 50:17does not look good against Canadians let's say we still squeak out the wind
- 50:21but he just doesn't look good I think Gus gets a start against the Kings okay
- 50:24and probably the blue jackets and you start seeing him take on that more
- 50:28number one role I think flurry's gonna have a short leash this year
- 50:33and he's definitely the number two option yes and he's hurt us I yeah yeah
- 50:39Gus is your number one hands down he'll probably get I'm gonna guess it's gonna
- 50:44be an 80-20 split really this year do you see 70-30 but yeah very high on Gus
- 50:50being in that do you see a contender that might need a backup goalie trading
- 50:56for a flurry at all we talked about that a little bit last episode I think just a
- 51:00touch about he may not stick around for the wild and then you know also the side
- 51:04of things is like if this is the last year in the league you think he'd go
- 51:07somewhere he's got some some I guess reputation or whatever so he can
- 51:10possibly retire in a team where you spent a good bit of his time do you
- 51:14think maybe he does one of those moves or does he just screw it and goes with
- 51:17the money is I feel like if he would go anywhere it would be Pittsburgh to be
- 51:21honest and just and have a last final run but who raw a little who robbed but
- 51:26yeah I don't really see unless there you know there's injury I mean I think
- 51:30Garen and and flurry are very tight so yeah I think Garen would it be like hey
- 51:36what do you think about this possibility but if you know if he says no I'm
- 51:42comfortable here I don't see him moving no no yeah and I was just saying like I
- 51:46don't know I see him here but if he does get traded I don't see us I think the
- 51:51only move then we would make is bring up Zane McIntyre for the rest of the year
- 51:54which I don't think is a super amazing move for us which is why I think maybe
- 51:59we're lost then we would not bring up walls yes 100% why why why he's got like
- 52:06a nine and 90 percent say for the Zach you're not gonna start McIntyre are you
- 52:12nuts yeah are you cool are you unless we're going for a cup I think he's the
- 52:19second goal here no he's not we'll say that we'll say that the Iowa wild no
- 52:26yeah McIntyre is nowhere to be found I'm not saying he's good well now where did
- 52:30I say he was not no he's not gonna where did I say he was good he's not gonna be
- 52:34on the Minnesota Wilds right now no it's gonna be Wallstead if yes 100% there's
- 52:41absolutely no way McIntyre gets the nod before walls I think you leave one of
- 52:49the dumbest takes I've heard today that's fine that's why I love you and all
- 52:54but man that McIntyre oh my goodness that's fine but why would you bring up
- 53:00Wallstead when you're not even competing for a cup why we talked about this last
- 53:05episode where you're gonna be lost down there yeah Wallstead will be in easily I
- 53:10just a I don't see us actually trading flurry no hey but but if we do I don't
- 53:16think we bring up Wallstead I think you leave him down there for the entire
- 53:19AHL season and let him get his more experience he's 20 years old he's not
- 53:25fazlewski fazlewski came up because he was good at his age right now Wallstead
- 53:30is the best goalie prospect and in the in the world right in the world I don't
- 53:34care what his age is age is just a number you're seeing 18 year old what's
- 53:40Connor Badaar 18 he's the first one well not a goalie goalies are different I
- 53:44know but well said right now is the best if you look at the planet and I know
- 53:48this is just like going and I know this is just all numbers and stuff but if you
- 53:52look at statistically goalies don't hit their prime until they're 27 28 years
- 53:56old I just don't want to come too early with him he did just fine in preseason
- 54:01though he did he did look at the wild notorious feet of bringing up people
- 54:07before they're ready to go look at what the Rossi last season
- 54:10Caitlin Addison last season they got brought up made this whole big funk we
- 54:13talked about earlier they got sent back down because they weren't ready for it
- 54:15so Tyler's point in the first episode is that you got to let these guys sit and
- 54:20kind of fester a little bit yeah I develop a little bit here likes to bake
- 54:23them like cookies they like likes to sit he likes though you know wait he likes
- 54:27to cook the prospects in the system for a while but right now Wallstead is is
- 54:35all pretty much ready he's pretty much ready there's no denying he's good I'm
- 54:39not denying that he's ready he's ready maybe if we're maybe if we're leading
- 54:45our division a top team in the conference okay maybe you can bring him
- 54:50up then to pair with Gus yeah you but I just I just I don't see him playing in
- 54:57the NHL this year for us unless something really crazy happens the only
- 55:01way they he does get a shot is if is a flurry is gone which I don't see so it
- 55:07would be next year anyway and then he's up yeah I mean I guess we'll see only
- 55:12one way to find out right hopefully we just don't have that bad of a season and
- 55:17to be honest right now I think Wallstead's better than flurry that take
- 55:24yes honestly better than Gustafson well said is better than pressure for a
- 55:2920 year old so that's why he's not yeah no sir but he right now I think also
- 55:33could be better than Gus no he it Oh better than Gus yeah I both goalies on
- 55:39the roster right now he's probably better than both of them the reason why
- 55:42he's not on the roster is because he's 20 and we have two vets right now or not
- 55:46vets I don't know how old Gus is but flurry you're not gonna send flurry down
- 55:50you're not gonna send Gus down they've been here last year so yeah the only
- 55:54the only way this happens is if it's rated and then you have that talks yeah
- 56:00and I'm not seeing you know Wallstead I'm not saying Wallstead won't be up
- 56:04here until the pre easier suitor contracts are over he'll be here but but
- 56:09I you know it could be a small factor right like I agree with you he'll be up
- 56:13here next year because flurry's contracts done who else you gonna bring
- 56:16up that's your time to bring up Wallstead at that point and then who
- 56:19knows who's gonna be the number one tendy they're gonna have to battle it
- 56:22out and it's gonna be a Dean call and my gut tells me Dean will go with Gus
- 56:26because of his veteran you know unless that's where BG gets in his ear like
- 56:32nope it's it's the Jesper show now but that's and you know that's a next season
- 56:36thing I agree with you there even Dean well even like last year it was kind of
- 56:40well it was more Gus that it was more the Gus show but there wasn't like Gus
- 56:45was starting every game it was like flurry this you know it was a toss up
- 56:49between the two which hurt us which hurt us yeah ultimately it hurt us because
- 56:53nobody could take that number one spot and be I don't know I think that hurt
- 56:57us ultimately like splitting it as much yeah yeah but for playoff I mean yeah
- 57:04you roll with the hot goalie you roll with the hot goalie yeah no that's all I
- 57:08got about the matter Kev what you got over there there's a lot going on over
