- 0:10Speaker 1: Wait true in trance spirit True.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I'm a check.
- 0:17Speaker 3: The audult.
- 0:31Speaker 4: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy the Show. I'm your host,
- 0:36Speaker 4: Adam Todd Brown. Who are you Hi, I'm Olivia Hidar.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Olivia is your co host. We're your hosts. That's what
- 0:42Speaker 4: we do here. Olivia. How's it going?
- 0:45Speaker 3: You know, things are okay, kind of kind of calming
- 0:48Speaker 3: down after I've had a little bit of a fear
- 0:51Speaker 3: over the Latin not far.
- 0:53Speaker 4: That's a weird time.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Sorry, it sounds I did realize as I was saying
- 0:58Speaker 1: it that it that it would sound weird. The f
- 1:01Speaker 1: U r O r it.
- 1:02Speaker 3: It's just been a busy couple months and I'm glad
- 1:04Speaker 3: the things are finally starting to chill out a little bit.
- 1:08Speaker 4: I mean they might be starting to chill out. But
- 1:12Speaker 4: once we dig into the subject of today's episode, and yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 4: the next eight bonus episodes of this podcast, in fact,
- 1:21Speaker 4: your life might get a lot more exciting.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yeah maybe, because who knows.
- 1:26Speaker 4: We're talking about the Jesse Ventura that the government doesn't
- 1:31Speaker 4: want you to see. Season two of Conspiracy Theory with
- 1:36Speaker 4: Jesse Ventura, it.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Exists, it does, It's there. They didn't just go from
- 1:41Speaker 3: one to three, which would be a move.
- 1:43Speaker 4: It's what the Traveling Willberries did.
- 1:46Speaker 3: They did.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Yes, it's not an unprecedented move.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It's a great call. I would have never thought to
- 1:53Speaker 1: compare Jesse Ventura to Roy Orbison.
- 1:57Speaker 4: He replaced Roy Orbison and the Traveling Willberries. People don't
- 2:00Speaker 4: know that.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I mean totally.
- 2:02Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:02Speaker 1: He's just as good with a guitar as Roy.
- 2:05Speaker 4: He sure looks good on a motorcycle. But I'm getting
- 2:08Speaker 4: way way ahead. That's yeah, you're interesting thing about the season,
- 2:13Speaker 4: Like we said, you can't find it anywhere.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been canceled, like banned, Yeah, banned from TV.
- 2:21Speaker 4: A few unpops listeners or conspiracy to Show listeners have
- 2:25Speaker 4: reached out in an effort to help find these episodes.
- 2:30Speaker 4: And we're going to try and get through all of
- 2:32Speaker 4: it before the Feds shut us down.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I can't believe you would reveal the secret location of
- 2:38Speaker 1: our video files. Adam, what's just a venturer.
- 2:42Speaker 4: They don't want you to see. That's what we're talking about.
- 2:47Speaker 4: And he's in fine form, get it. He's really getting
- 2:52Speaker 4: to the interesting stuff. This the first The topic he
- 2:56Speaker 4: covers first is one I've always been pretty fascinated with
- 3:00Speaker 4: for sure, which is Plum Island. Had you ever heard
- 3:03Speaker 4: of this before?
- 3:04Speaker 3: Well? I had, Like I've heard about it just in general,
- 3:09Speaker 3: like as an adult, you know, uh, reading about weird
- 3:12Speaker 3: like the you know, these weird conspiracies and shit. But
- 3:16Speaker 3: I've known it for a long time because it's like
- 3:19Speaker 3: a plot point in Silence of the Lambs.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Uh oh, that's right.
- 3:23Speaker 3: That's the place where like Clarice is trying to like
- 3:27Speaker 3: tempt Lecter with like being able to take vacations at
- 3:31Speaker 3: Plumb Island, and he's like, you think you've you think
- 3:34Speaker 3: you're being clever, But I know that Plum Island actually
- 3:38Speaker 3: is a disease testing center, you know it's and so yeah,
- 3:42Speaker 3: I've just known about it like passively because of.
- 3:45Speaker 1: That for a long time.
- 3:47Speaker 4: It's very close to New York City. I've heard a
- 3:49Speaker 4: lot of conspiracy stuff about this place before. And I'll
- 3:52Speaker 4: be honest, I don't trust it. I don't. I don't
- 3:55Speaker 4: like that we have an animal testing facility. It's like
- 3:59Speaker 4: a government run animal virus testing facility.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I mean, I like, look, I don't trust it inherently
- 4:07Speaker 3: because I don't generally trust government.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Institutions like as a whole.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Like it's tough for me, but also I understand why
- 4:16Speaker 3: we would need a national animal disease testing center. We like,
- 4:21Speaker 3: if something were to happen to you know, a large
- 4:25Speaker 3: portion of our you know, livestock, we would be in
- 4:28Speaker 3: huge trouble.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Like it's an animal where to pass some sort of
- 4:33Speaker 4: pandemic onto people?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Well you no, I mean yeah, what that happened?
- 4:38Speaker 3: I mean sure, But what I mostly mean is that
- 4:40Speaker 3: if like, you know, if all of our cows die,
- 4:43Speaker 3: then there goes milk and there goes you know, fresh
- 4:46Speaker 3: milk and fresh beef like that, and that's like huge.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Yeah, It's like that's one thing you rarely get in
- 4:52Speaker 4: these episodes is there's never even just one person to
- 4:55Speaker 4: step in and be like, hey, you ever think of
- 4:56Speaker 4: the food supply chain, right, Like maybe we need to
- 5:01Speaker 4: keep a tab on animal diseases also so we can
- 5:03Speaker 4: all eat.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Yeah, this is something we're I mean, we've talked about
- 5:07Speaker 3: it before, We're going to talk about it again throughout
- 5:09Speaker 3: these episodes. But like they've got this skeptic character who
- 5:14Speaker 3: just constantly makes these shittiest skeptic arguments that don't make
- 5:19Speaker 3: any sense when like it would you know, like this,
- 5:22Speaker 3: like it would be a perfect thing for him to
- 5:24Speaker 3: bring up, like perfectly reasonable thing would be, well, there's
- 5:27Speaker 3: a reason for us to have this, And that's not
- 5:30Speaker 3: ever his position. It's always like, well, no, I think
- 5:33Speaker 3: we should just trust the government.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Guys.
- 5:36Speaker 1: We onlyed a question what they say, Do.
- 5:39Speaker 4: You think the government is working on bioweapons somewhere?
- 5:43Speaker 3: I mean probably, but I would like, personally, I would
- 5:47Speaker 3: imagine they're gonna do it off of the mainland. It
- 5:51Speaker 3: would probably not. And I don't mean like Plumb Island
- 5:54Speaker 3: off of the mainland. I mean, like, you know, we've
- 5:56Speaker 3: got all these territories, We've got like military bases all
- 5:59Speaker 3: over the world. You know, I would imagine that we're
- 6:03Speaker 3: probably doing some sort of chemical weapons or biological weapon
- 6:08Speaker 3: research in some place like that. But in I just
- 6:11Speaker 3: feel like in the mainland that's tough. Even the most
- 6:15Speaker 3: dedicated shithead politicians would be like, I don't know if
- 6:19Speaker 3: I want that in my state, you know, Like it's
- 6:23Speaker 3: like if we're trying to get through the Senate.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yeah, And that is a thing that comes up in
- 6:27Speaker 4: this episode, them trying to move Plumb Island to Kansas.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Which makes sense, like that actually like they they you.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Know, they're very suspicious of it, because they're very suspicious
- 6:37Speaker 3: of everything about this facility, because that's the premise of
- 6:40Speaker 3: the show.
- 6:41Speaker 1: But like it makes sense for it to be in
- 6:43Speaker 1: Kansas because that's where a bunch of animals are, like
- 6:48Speaker 1: we would be, that would be kind of in the
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know, in the ship as it were. They kind
- 6:54Speaker 1: of got to get it, you have to.
- 7:00Speaker 3: They're kind of importing a lot of these I mean,
- 7:02Speaker 3: there's obviously livestock in upstate New York, but like they've
- 7:06Speaker 3: got to be chucking these things for a while.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Yeah, they do talk about some weird aspects of this place.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Oh for sure. The fact that it was founded by
- 7:14Speaker 4: a Nazi is disturbing.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's awful, but like and unfortunately true
- 7:21Speaker 3: of a lot of our agencies, some of which are
- 7:25Speaker 3: like legitimately beneficial, like NASA, like you know, we just
- 7:30Speaker 3: you know, unfortunately, Yeah, that's what our government decided to
- 7:34Speaker 3: do after World War two.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Hard fact of life. We teamed up with the Nazis
- 7:38Speaker 4: after World War two a fight communism. Yep. So this
- 7:43Speaker 4: episode opens with Jesse Ventura and that fucking skeptic. His
- 7:49Speaker 4: name's Alex Piper I believe, yeah, or that's just what
- 7:52Speaker 4: I've named him.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I mean, I just know Alex.
- 7:55Speaker 4: They're on a boat to Plumb Island, and they set
- 7:59Speaker 4: it up like they're being chased by the coast Guard.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's a classic conspiracy theory cold open.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Like he often opens with like, I'm getting rounded
- 8:09Speaker 3: up by the fits because I've asked too many hard
- 8:13Speaker 3: questions and then you get to that part of the
- 8:15Speaker 3: episode and it's always like, yeah, they just kind of
- 8:17Speaker 3: asked him politely to leave.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Yeah, they were just there doing the coast Guard's job
- 8:23Speaker 4: guarding the coast. Things like yeah, of all the government
- 8:27Speaker 4: agencies like the coast Guard, I'm like, they just fucking
- 8:30Speaker 4: deal with water. That's not even we shouldn't be there
- 8:33Speaker 4: in the first place.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I mean, like, yeah, I just don't find the coast
- 8:38Speaker 1: Guard threatening. I find them. They have a helpful image.
- 8:42Speaker 1: They're like the sea firefighters to me.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I like that.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Right out of the gate, he delivers a real sad
- 8:49Speaker 4: monologue about being chased because he's a governor, he used
- 8:54Speaker 4: to be a governor, and uh, oh man, you can
- 8:57Speaker 4: tell I did these notes with voice dictation software because
- 9:00Speaker 4: there's Yeah, some translation errors.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I did notice that it.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Says I used to be a governor. What are they think?
- 9:08Speaker 4: I am a flocking terrorist? That's not actually Jesse Venture's
- 9:11Speaker 4: quote from the episode. He said, well, like one of
- 9:14Speaker 4: these things, I am I a fucking terrorist?
- 9:17Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 9:18Speaker 3: Might that is a that's gonna be a running theme
- 9:21Speaker 3: at least over the next couple episodes, where he just
- 9:24Speaker 3: is so indignant that as a former government governor and
- 9:28Speaker 3: current TV show host, he is not allowed to go
- 9:32Speaker 3: literally anywhere he wants to go.
- 9:35Speaker 4: And who would want that? There have been some bad
- 9:37Speaker 4: governors in history exactly, you want to give them all
- 9:40Speaker 4: unfettered access to everything in the world.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's not like, honestly, you're just a like
- 9:46Speaker 1: you're a governor, you run a state.
- 9:49Speaker 2: They declared this Jesse Venture a day here in nineteen
- 9:52Speaker 2: eighty nine, let me in.
- 9:56Speaker 4: He describes being chased as like a raid out of
- 9:59Speaker 4: his Navy front man days. Yeah, only this time he
- 10:02Speaker 4: didn't have a gun or a knife, right, but from
- 10:05Speaker 4: what he'd already found, they wouldn't be much help anyway. Yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 4: what were you gonna do? He's gonna get a gunfight
- 10:12Speaker 4: at Plum Island on TV he.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Is gonna shank some coast guards. Yeah, yeah, I love
- 10:19Speaker 3: whenever he brings up his navy days. I'm glad he
- 10:22Speaker 3: was talking about being a frogman and not a seal,
- 10:25Speaker 3: which is more accurate. Still cool, but yeah, but also
- 10:29Speaker 3: comparing what happens in this episode to something that happened
- 10:34Speaker 3: during your frogman days really makes your frogman days seem
- 10:38Speaker 3: not that dangerous.
- 10:40Speaker 1: It kind of undermines the machoness of that brag.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I know a thing or two about being lightly followed
- 10:47Speaker 2: by the coast guard, and he never really elaborates on
- 10:52Speaker 2: the guns.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Wouldn't help much anyway, because then we just cut to
- 10:55Speaker 4: oh for sure. The first person he talks to, who's
- 10:58Speaker 4: Kenneth King, an expert on biowarfare. He talks about how
- 11:02Speaker 4: there are thirteen hundred and fifty six germ containment facilities
- 11:06Speaker 4: around the country and if there are accidents happening regularly.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Here's the thing about that number, I'd rather there be
- 11:13Speaker 4: more than less, because if he was like, listen, there
- 11:17Speaker 4: are two germ containment units for the entire country, I'd
- 11:20Speaker 4: be like, fuck, yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 3: That's that doesn't seem like enough. I mean, like again,
- 11:26Speaker 3: I don't want to take the government side. That is
- 11:29Speaker 3: not something that I'm trying to do. But like I
- 11:32Speaker 3: think the last couple of years have shown that we
- 11:35Speaker 3: need facilities in our country to study these things like
- 11:40Speaker 3: they're they're important to know about.
- 11:43Speaker 1: They're not like you have there.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Everyone in this episode is constantly take immediately leaping to
- 11:50Speaker 3: the most negative possible assumption about what's going on.
- 11:54Speaker 4: And I get it.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I get that, and I'm not saying there's not.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Anything nefarious happening with regards to this stuff, but like
- 12:02Speaker 3: you know, there's also rational explanations.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and what they're getting into in this part is
- 12:10Speaker 4: a little timely because he's basically talking about a lab leak,
- 12:15Speaker 4: which the lab leak theory when it comes to COVID
- 12:18Speaker 4: is not a popular one, but it's one that exists. Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 1: It well, it's tough because it's so loaded.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Uh.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it depends on what version you're talking about. If
- 12:29Speaker 4: you're talking about the Chinese government created COVID in a
- 12:33Speaker 4: lab and then unleashed it on the world, I don't
- 12:35Speaker 4: think so. But yes, of course it's possible for someone
- 12:38Speaker 4: to work in a lab like this and accidentally spread
- 12:41Speaker 4: something to the outside I mean, I mean.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Sure, but also lots of things are possible, Like you know,
- 12:48Speaker 3: I just that's just a huge leap to make from
- 12:52Speaker 3: outbreak to bioweapon.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, and with they're not necessarily saying the government's
- 12:59Speaker 4: making bio weapons, but they do hint at it a
- 13:01Speaker 4: whole lot, and uh, that's mostly what they're focusing on,
- 13:06Speaker 4: is the chances that something like this or that one
- 13:09Speaker 4: of these facilities something could escape and make a lot
- 13:13Speaker 4: of people sick. But you're just kind of rolling the
- 13:15Speaker 4: dice on life in general, like that could happen with
- 13:18Speaker 4: so many things, I mean for sure.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah, And again like there's no other way to develop
- 13:26Speaker 3: things ways to combat these viruses and different kinds of
- 13:30Speaker 3: infections than studying the germs and like the viruses and
- 13:36Speaker 3: the bacteria that cause those infections, Like that's the only
- 13:40Speaker 3: way to do it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Really, you can't do it without them.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 4: It's one of those things where you got a weigh
- 13:44Speaker 4: the risks against the benefits, right, Like, yes, there's some risk,
- 13:50Speaker 4: but the benefits of knowing how these things work, should
- 13:53Speaker 4: they get out at some point, are obviously gonna outweigh
- 13:56Speaker 4: those risks well.
- 13:57Speaker 3: And also, you know, if you think about, like what
- 14:01Speaker 3: is in the government's best interest, and you know, even
- 14:06Speaker 3: just on a financial level, like the pandemic has been
- 14:11Speaker 3: disastrous for our country's economy, and so they're going to
- 14:17Speaker 3: have If we do have these facilities that are studying
- 14:22Speaker 3: you know, viruses and you know, these different kinds of things,
- 14:26Speaker 3: the security on these things is gonna be insanely tight
- 14:29Speaker 3: because the government in charge doesn't want an outbreak because
- 14:34Speaker 3: it would cost a shit ton of money and like
- 14:37Speaker 3: be hugely damaging to whoever's in like to the president's reputation,
- 14:41Speaker 3: like and everybody involved.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It would just it just doesn't make any sense for
- 14:45Speaker 1: it to be any other way.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Yeah. That that's a running theme with this series in general.
- 14:50Speaker 4: That frustrates me is it always comes back to, well,
- 14:53Speaker 4: why want the government let us in to see what's
- 14:55Speaker 4: going on? It's Liker, and that's not how government works,
- 14:59Speaker 4: I mean for sure.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Yeah, especially with this Plumb Island thing, when every time
- 15:03Speaker 3: he kept being like, I just want to I just
- 15:05Speaker 3: want to go in and see what's happening.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I just need to know what's going on. I mean,
- 15:11Speaker 1: first of all, what do you know about disease?
- 15:15Speaker 3: You know?
- 15:16Speaker 1: Control what you know?
- 15:17Speaker 3: About it. How would you be able to tell what's
- 15:20Speaker 3: happening in a lab like this? And also if you
- 15:23Speaker 3: think that they're developing these things, why would you want
- 15:26Speaker 3: to go into there? Yeah, like it's if it's that dangerous.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Yeah, imagine if you were fighting to get in this
- 15:34Speaker 4: place and they keep saying no and keep saying no,
- 15:36Speaker 4: and then suddenly they're like, all right, come in. I
- 15:40Speaker 4: feel like at that point I'd be like, no, no,
- 15:43Speaker 4: it's going on.
- 15:43Speaker 3: I actually changed my mind. I'm sorry, you're not putting
- 15:47Speaker 3: me in that room, Like I mean seriously though.
- 15:50Speaker 4: So the next thing that happens in this episode, it's
- 15:54Speaker 4: time for a patented team meeting. Yes, they have these
- 16:00Speaker 4: all throughout the episode. Sometimes they kick off the episode.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Sometimes Yeah, Jesse's just in a Starbucks and someone walks
- 16:06Speaker 4: up and slides a paper across the table and he
- 16:09Speaker 4: brings that back to the team meeting. In this meeting,
- 16:11Speaker 4: they're talking about the mon talk Monster. Yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I don't want to completely shoot this down, but like
- 16:17Speaker 3: if you've ever seen like biologists have like done composites
- 16:22Speaker 3: of a raccoon, an image of a raccoon like over
- 16:25Speaker 3: the image of the montalk monster and it's like one
- 16:29Speaker 3: to one, and you know, I just kind of know
- 16:32Speaker 3: what dead animals look like and.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I know it, but like it just looks like a
- 16:39Speaker 1: dead animal, you know, Like, why.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Won't you help me look at your dead animals?
- 16:44Speaker 3: I Like, again, I don't want to be like a
- 16:47Speaker 3: total downer, but I don't know, I just can't go there.
- 16:52Speaker 3: On the on the Montalk Monster, that's just one where
- 16:55Speaker 3: I'm like, this is just so obviously a raccoon.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Well, my question and with the mon Talk monster, because
- 17:02Speaker 4: the argument people make is well, that escaped from Plum
- 17:05Speaker 4: Island where they're testing animals. What would they be making
- 17:08Speaker 4: that for?
- 17:09Speaker 3: What? Also also this like this is why it's weird
- 17:12Speaker 3: that they brought it up in this episode because they've
- 17:16Speaker 3: the entire rest of the episode is about bioweapons basically,
- 17:23Speaker 3: and then they have this Montague monster thing, which is
- 17:25Speaker 3: about like genetic engineering or something, and like that's just
- 17:30Speaker 3: a totally different conspiracy theory, Like it doesn't really connect
- 17:36Speaker 3: to the bioweapon aspect except that it involves animals.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a it's a confusing tangent, that's for sure.
- 17:46Speaker 4: That thing does look creepy when it's weird. I mean
- 17:49Speaker 4: dead animals are freaking freaky. Yeah, yeah, I don't know, man,
- 17:53Speaker 4: Like I just I just can't go there on them.
- 17:55Speaker 4: And I love that cryptozoology stuff.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I think it's cool, like, but the Montalk monster is
- 18:01Speaker 3: just it's a dead animal and it's been rolling around
- 18:04Speaker 3: in the surf. It's got all it's for, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 3: stripped off, and it's got the a skull with like
- 18:10Speaker 3: missing teeth and a broken nose, and it looks like
- 18:13Speaker 3: it's got the raccoon shacks, like it's got the little
- 18:16Speaker 3: puffy butt and puffy but.
- 18:18Speaker 1: It's got the little puffy butt, but like not as
- 18:22Speaker 1: cute because it's been decomposing in the ocean.
- 18:27Speaker 4: They send June sarpalm to Kansas, and I'm not sure why. Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 4: what's she gonna do stop? Like this isn't the XL pipeline,
- 18:34Speaker 4: and even if it was, you're not enough protesters to
- 18:36Speaker 4: stop it.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Well.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Like June is kind of like the field trip person.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Really, She's the one who always kind of goes to
- 18:45Speaker 3: like you know, meet someone or or you know, do
- 18:48Speaker 3: some sort of trip to places being discussed to investigate.
- 18:52Speaker 1: And I think they just needed her to do something,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and so they sent her out there.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Meanwhile, Jesse and Alex get on a plane to head
- 18:59Speaker 4: to plumb Eyeland, which was confusing because it seemed like
- 19:02Speaker 4: they just drove there, but or they were on a
- 19:05Speaker 4: boat at one point. I don't know why we even
- 19:08Speaker 4: needed to know about the plane. Alex the Skeptic goes
- 19:11Speaker 4: to the beach to talk to a guy about the
- 19:13Speaker 4: mon Talk monster, Nicholas cut Naro. He's a local and
- 19:17Speaker 4: he said he's the first one who reported on the
- 19:20Speaker 4: mon Talk monster on his website and he thinks it's
- 19:23Speaker 4: a hybrid animal of some sort. But he also says
- 19:26Speaker 4: another one on shore.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Yeah, like a manimal if you will, right, yeah, which again,
- 19:32Speaker 3: for what exactly, what's the purpose of that, just for
- 19:36Speaker 3: funds for kicks and shit.
- 19:38Speaker 1: The giggles like, I don't understand.
- 19:41Speaker 4: We've got hybrid animals and they can't even cure cancer.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Yet they're making bio weapons out of hybrid animals. They're
- 19:49Speaker 3: infecting the hybrids with hoof and mouth disease.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Meanwhile, Jesse Ventura is talking to Carl Grossman, a professor
- 19:58Speaker 4: and investigative journalist, and this is who brings up the
- 20:02Speaker 4: fact that plumb Island was started after World War Two
- 20:05Speaker 4: by a former Nazi named Eric Traube, and he was
- 20:09Speaker 4: brought here under Operation paper Clips. So that's cool.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Oh, it's super dope. Love history.
- 20:14Speaker 4: And his idea for Plumb Island was that he would
- 20:17Speaker 4: be able to weaponize bugs basically. And here's the thing.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Have you ever seen Wormwood? Did you watch the Wormwood document?
- 20:25Speaker 1: No? No, we've talked about I do need to watch that.
- 20:28Speaker 1: That's one that's been on my list for too long.
- 20:30Speaker 4: One of the theories that comes up in Wormwood is
- 20:33Speaker 4: that we used biological weapons in Korea, and the type
- 20:39Speaker 4: of weapons we used were bombs that when they hit
- 20:42Speaker 4: the ground instead of exploding, they just kind of broke
- 20:45Speaker 4: open and released weaponized bugs into the area to introduce
- 20:49Speaker 4: diseases to the area. Yeah, so I don't completely doubt that, No, I.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Mean, that would be an efficient way to spread a
- 20:59Speaker 3: weaponize disease, Like that's just you know, that's how the
- 21:02Speaker 3: Bubonic League spread. So it makes sense that that would
- 21:05Speaker 3: be something under consideration.
- 21:07Speaker 4: But they don't really stay on that for long. I
- 21:10Speaker 4: don't know. Maybe Jesse Venture has never heard that conspiracy maybe,
- 21:14Speaker 4: but like the CIA did throw a guy out a
- 21:17Speaker 4: window to keep it quiet.
- 21:18Speaker 1: We know that, right, Yeah, And they said that the
- 21:20Speaker 1: overdose sun LSD or so.
- 21:22Speaker 4: They said they they claimed they gave him too much
- 21:25Speaker 4: LSD and it drove him crazy and he jumped out
- 21:27Speaker 4: a window. And you know, when the CIA has taken
- 21:30Speaker 4: responsibility for something like that, something much much worse actually happened.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Totally.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I think the reason why they don't spend much time
- 21:38Speaker 3: on the flea thing is that they don't really spend
- 21:40Speaker 3: too much time on any one detail of this.
- 21:43Speaker 1: It's kind of scattershot. It's probably my big biggest problem
- 21:46Speaker 1: with the episode is it just kind of jumps all
- 21:48Speaker 1: over the place.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the problem with a series like this in general.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Like when you're getting into area fifty one, Yeah, which
- 21:55Speaker 4: they do on the next episode, there's so much to
- 21:57Speaker 4: talk about and it's like, really, you're going to knock
- 22:00Speaker 4: us out in forty minutes. It's gonna be interesting. So
- 22:04Speaker 4: Carl Grossman is very worried about al Qaeda striking Plumb
- 22:08Speaker 4: Island and I am not, and I never was.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm yeah now is well, I guess that you know,
- 22:15Speaker 3: twenty ten or whenever this was made, is I guess
- 22:19Speaker 3: a slightly more relevant time to be worried about al Qaeda.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Now that's two years into Obama, I think he and
- 22:26Speaker 4: I then most most people were like all right, there's yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 4: they're not like I was.
- 22:31Speaker 5: The freid of al Qaeda like the day after nine
- 22:34Speaker 5: to eleven, Like I just like I was like fourteen
- 22:38Speaker 5: years old, and I was like, this is a one
- 22:40Speaker 5: and done, right, this seems like they probably shot their
- 22:44Speaker 5: wat on this.
- 22:45Speaker 4: This is huge. Yeah, nothing else is really gonna impress
- 22:50Speaker 4: after finally exactly.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I mean, like we had like the fucking anthrac shit,
- 22:55Speaker 3: which turned out to like everything we've had since then
- 22:58Speaker 3: has been domestic rorism. Yeah, it's been every major incident
- 23:02Speaker 3: since nine eleven. So yeah, I am not personally afraid
- 23:06Speaker 3: of al Qaeda or ISIS or whoever's the big one
- 23:10Speaker 3: now attacking Home Islands.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Yeah. The anthrax attacks are a very sad and interesting story.
- 23:16Speaker 4: It's like another Richard Jewel story basically a little bit, yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 4: because they identify the suspect and name him publicly and
- 23:23Speaker 4: then just kind of harass him until he finally kills himself,
- 23:27Speaker 4: I believe, and then almost as soon as he died,
- 23:30Speaker 4: they're like, oh are bad. It's actually this other guy.
- 23:33Speaker 3: We think, whoopsie, that's their official like that was their
- 23:39Speaker 3: press release. It was just like, so sorry, the office
- 23:42Speaker 3: of the FBI.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Whoops a little shrug emojis. Did we have those back then?
- 23:48Speaker 1: I think I don't think so, but they just did,
- 23:51Speaker 1: like the written out one with like the slashes.
- 23:55Speaker 4: So next they get into the tick theory. Right, this
- 23:59Speaker 4: is a theory. It's been around quite a while, it
- 24:02Speaker 4: has this is one that this is an example of
- 24:06Speaker 4: what you were talking about, where you're really getting into
- 24:09Speaker 4: a complex theory with this tick thing. To just gloss
- 24:13Speaker 4: over it in the course of this episode is bad planning,
- 24:17Speaker 4: if nothing else, because this should be its own episode.
- 24:22Speaker 4: It's very strange theory, which it's kind of the same thing,
- 24:27Speaker 4: which is that in this case, lime disease escaped from
- 24:31Speaker 4: a facility I believe, Plumb Island and made its way
- 24:35Speaker 4: to Connecticut and then spread to the rest of the world. Yeah,
- 24:39Speaker 4: and I spent a lot of back and forth on
- 24:42Speaker 4: this theory over the years.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I think the biggest fourth and probably the reason why
- 24:48Speaker 3: they're not gonna they wouldn't do a full episode on it,
- 24:50Speaker 3: is that, like there were reported cases of lime disease
- 24:54Speaker 3: before like this was before Plumb Island existed. Yeah, there's that,
- 24:59Speaker 3: but also the way technicality, but the way it popped
- 25:04Speaker 3: up in the region when it did and how it
- 25:07Speaker 3: did there's like yeah, I mean obviously there's that contention,
- 25:11Speaker 3: but there are I think we've done an episode on it,
- 25:14Speaker 3: but there are answers to that contention also, Like sure,
- 25:18Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if something like it's a thing
- 25:23Speaker 3: that can happen, like things can state, I mean facilities
- 25:26Speaker 3: like this.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's true.
- 25:28Speaker 3: And again I'm not going to say that, you know,
- 25:31Speaker 3: when it comes to the government doing heinous things that
- 25:34Speaker 3: anything basically is off the table. But I like, for me,
- 25:39Speaker 3: like just the fact that Plumb Island didn't even exist
- 25:43Speaker 3: when the first cases of lime disease were documented is
- 25:47Speaker 3: just that's just kind of an open and shut thing
- 25:49Speaker 3: for me.
- 25:49Speaker 1: That's that's a tough one to overcome.
- 25:51Speaker 4: Well, what if they were studying lime disease in that facility,
- 25:55Speaker 4: what if they had been able to get access to
- 25:59Speaker 4: lime disease, which yeah, there had been cases of.
- 26:01Speaker 1: It before, right, so they're studying it, and so you're saying, like.
- 26:05Speaker 4: That's why it goes from a thing that existed to
- 26:08Speaker 4: being in a concentrated out in one area.
- 26:12Speaker 3: And that's that's a fine like that, I understand how
- 26:16Speaker 3: that could happen, but that's not really the theory that
- 26:20Speaker 3: this show positive like posits or that the biggest theory is,
- 26:23Speaker 3: and the theory that most people say about line disease
- 26:26Speaker 3: with Plumb Island is that they created line disease at
- 26:29Speaker 3: Plumb Island. That's like what this guy's saying and what
- 26:34Speaker 3: the major theory is, and that is just it can't
- 26:37Speaker 3: be true, right that. I mean, yeah, but those are
- 26:40Speaker 3: two different theories. No, something I've escaped and that something
- 26:45Speaker 3: was intentionally released as a bio weapon.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Those that's two different things.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Oh no, totally I agree, But I just I'm at
- 26:55Speaker 3: least what I understood from from what this guy was
- 26:58Speaker 3: saying is he's he's of the camp that believes that
- 27:02Speaker 3: it was created there, and that's kind of what they're implying. Yeah,
- 27:05Speaker 3: with a lot of this, and I just that it
- 27:08Speaker 3: can't be true.
- 27:08Speaker 4: So yeah, I wouldn't be inclined to believe that, but
- 27:12Speaker 4: I do believe if it's something that escaped the government
- 27:16Speaker 4: would have a very vested interest in covering that up
- 27:19Speaker 4: because they absolutely for the financial liability if nothing else.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I mean that, Yeah, that's what we were
- 27:25Speaker 1: talking about.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Lime disease almost broke up Hall and Oates, how seesus
- 27:30Speaker 4: the federal government encroach on our rights like that?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that alone would have caused a fucking riot in
- 27:38Speaker 1: nineteen seventy nine.
- 27:39Speaker 3: The cost of the economy come on exactly exactly. It's
- 27:44Speaker 3: in the world, I mean, and and look and lime
- 27:46Speaker 3: disease is fucking horrific. And you know again, I wouldn't
- 27:51Speaker 3: be like, that's also a disease that you would probably study,
- 27:56Speaker 3: like an animal disease. Yeah, center, that makes sense, Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 3: because ticks are gonna, I think, can contract the form
- 28:04Speaker 3: of it, right, like probably so.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 4: They also get into suggesting that there are human experiments
- 28:12Speaker 4: happening roy Plum Island. And it's on account of how
- 28:16Speaker 4: this body washed ashore and it had weird elongated fingers, right,
- 28:22Speaker 4: and there are newspapers articles out there about this body
- 28:26Speaker 4: washing up. But I don't know people there's there was
- 28:30Speaker 4: a lobster boy was a real boy, right, and he
- 28:33Speaker 4: was a man who got murdered by his wife in
- 28:35Speaker 4: a murder for higher plot after she left him, married
- 28:39Speaker 4: the world's Smallest man and then divorced him and went
- 28:42Speaker 4: back to Lobster Boy. That's all true? Wow?
- 28:45Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I mean the world is a strange and
- 28:47Speaker 3: wondrous place, and that all happened at Plumb Island exactly. Yes,
- 28:51Speaker 3: Lobster Boy born at Plum Island.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Uh.
- 28:55Speaker 3: But like you know, again, we're talking about a dead
- 28:58Speaker 3: potty that's been rolling around in the ocean for a while.
- 29:02Speaker 3: It's probably gonna look pretty fucking weird. I think any
- 29:06Speaker 3: of us would look pretty fucking weird.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Next, they do a thing, a really signature thing of
- 29:12Speaker 4: this series in general, where they go to get answers
- 29:15Speaker 4: from someone who you should know ahead of time is
- 29:17Speaker 4: not going to be in a position to give you answers.
- 29:19Speaker 4: And in this case, Alex, the skeptic, heads to a
- 29:22Speaker 4: local police department to ask about the mon Talk monster.
- 29:26Speaker 4: And it's like, man, if that was a real animal
- 29:29Speaker 4: hybrid that escaped from a government lab, these cops have
- 29:32Speaker 4: been hit with that men in black flashing thing a
- 29:37Speaker 4: time ago.
- 29:38Speaker 3: You think the mon Talk police department like their biggest
- 29:43Speaker 3: struggle is dealing with like some drunk millionaire. It's like
- 29:48Speaker 3: causing a riot at Cracker Barrel. Like, they just aren't
- 29:52Speaker 3: I feel like gonna be a real big help in
- 29:55Speaker 3: this situation.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Yeah, they're not gonna be in a position to jeopardize that,
- 30:00Speaker 4: that's for surely. So then they go talk to Randy Sykes,
- 30:05Speaker 4: who contracted lime disease fifteen years ago. He believes it
- 30:09Speaker 4: was created by the government and that they were doing
- 30:12Speaker 4: it to create a weapon, and he says he found
- 30:16Speaker 4: the smoking gun, which is a document showing that the
- 30:20Speaker 4: FEDS are working on biowarfare agents at Plumb Island and
- 30:25Speaker 4: that lime disease is one of them. Yeah.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I mean, look, I it's terrible that this guy had
- 30:33Speaker 3: lime disease. It's really, like I said, that's a vicious,
- 30:37Speaker 3: vicious disease. And it's understandable that when you have something
- 30:42Speaker 3: that's that debilitating you want answers like this.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Is something we run.
- 30:47Speaker 3: You know. The first episode that we talked about of
- 30:49Speaker 3: this show was nine to eleven and they had oh
- 30:53Speaker 3: I forgot, they had a woman who was like the
- 30:56Speaker 3: mother of one of the nine to eleven victims, And
- 30:59Speaker 3: it's like, yeah, I understand how someone in that position
- 31:02Speaker 3: might turn to some sort of theory that can give
- 31:07Speaker 3: closure to them. But like I said, I mean, like
- 31:11Speaker 3: this document, where did this document come from? Like, how
- 31:14Speaker 3: do we know that it's real?
- 31:16Speaker 4: That's the thing. Whenever they talk to anyone like this
- 31:21Speaker 4: on this show, it's like, well, where did Randy get that? Right,
- 31:26Speaker 4: he's with all the journalists and investigative reporters and whatever
- 31:33Speaker 4: in the world intelligence agencies. How did Randy get it?
- 31:39Speaker 4: Because we talk about this documentary all the time called
- 31:43Speaker 4: Mirage Men, which is about a guy whose job it
- 31:46Speaker 4: was when someone would find evidence of an actual thing
- 31:51Speaker 4: the government was working on, like a top secret project,
- 31:55Speaker 4: he would go out to them and give them additional
- 31:58Speaker 4: evidence that was fake, so then they would go publish that,
- 32:03Speaker 4: and then the government could just be like, no, this
- 32:05Speaker 4: is very demonstrably false. This person's crazy. Don't pay attention
- 32:09Speaker 4: to anything they're saying. Again, if lime disease just accidentally leaked,
- 32:14Speaker 4: as opposed to being a weapon the government created, they're
- 32:17Speaker 4: gonna have a whole lot of liability if that comes
- 32:19Speaker 4: out right. And one thing we know the government does
- 32:22Speaker 4: is they will send you on a whole other trail
- 32:24Speaker 4: that's not going to be provable in order to hide
- 32:27Speaker 4: that actual truth, and for sure I would be suspicious
- 32:31Speaker 4: that that might be what's happening here.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I mean possibly, But also, like, so, who's Randy other
- 32:38Speaker 1: than a guy who had line diseas.
- 32:40Speaker 4: That's That's what I'm saying, though, is they if he
- 32:43Speaker 4: had been pushing this theory that lime disease is a weapon,
- 32:47Speaker 4: someone could have just come to him and been like, a,
- 32:49Speaker 4: r yep, here's your proof. Yeah, I should go public
- 32:52Speaker 4: with that. And then now his whole focus is this
- 32:56Speaker 4: is a weapon as opposed to oh no it wasn't.
- 32:58Speaker 4: But the government's respond for sure well.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Like and and and just in general though like and
- 33:04Speaker 3: this is a problem with with the show is I
- 33:08Speaker 3: don't understand like Randy's influence, like how how wide his
- 33:14Speaker 3: influence is. I don't know how well known he is
- 33:17Speaker 3: in any community, like any conspiracy community or you know,
- 33:22Speaker 3: the local community or anything. And so I also he
- 33:26Speaker 3: might just be saying whatever, and he's like the person
- 33:30Speaker 3: with lanme disease who believes in this stuff, who was
- 33:33Speaker 3: willing to talk to them, or I mean, but I
- 33:36Speaker 3: don't know, like it, he might not have even been
- 33:39Speaker 3: well known enough to have gotten a visit by the
- 33:41Speaker 3: mirage you know, like that isn't even necessary, Like he
- 33:46Speaker 3: could just be a guy who made up this document.
- 33:48Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 33:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the possibilities are endless.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Andy's Sykes, Yeah, I looked it up.
- 33:55Speaker 4: There's not much out there about him. Yeah, I don't
- 34:00Speaker 4: doubt that he's like probably some kind of activist when
- 34:02Speaker 4: it comes to stuff like this. But but what I'm
- 34:05Speaker 4: getting at is that is the kind of person the
- 34:07Speaker 4: government would target with absolutely misinformation and be like, yeah,
- 34:12Speaker 4: you got your audience, go run with this stupid theory
- 34:15Speaker 4: as opposed to what we don't want you to know. No, totally,
- 34:19Speaker 4: and I agree with that, but and it's it's for
- 34:22Speaker 4: the same reason, like, who the fuck's Randy? How's he
- 34:24Speaker 4: gonna get his hands on shit like this?
- 34:26Speaker 1: Exactly?
- 34:27Speaker 4: So, now Jesse and Alex the Skeptic are getting on
- 34:31Speaker 4: that boat so they can head to Plumb Island. The
- 34:34Speaker 4: boat's called the Coyote. That's that's cute.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool.
- 34:37Speaker 4: But then they get on the boat and the captain
- 34:39Speaker 4: refuses to take him because police and Homeland security start
- 34:43Speaker 4: showing up right as they were about to pull off.
- 34:46Speaker 1: They're one step ahead of me at all times, and for.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Some reason, they cut away from that so we can
- 34:52Speaker 4: go so June Sarpong can talk to some fucking guy. Yeah, Kansas.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Yeah, again, this episode is oh scattershot, and.
- 35:01Speaker 4: He's he's very worried about hoof and mouth disease, which
- 35:05Speaker 4: was super duper in the news in twenty ten, but
- 35:08Speaker 4: to twenty twenty one, and I feel like those fears
- 35:10Speaker 4: were a little unfounded for sure.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I mean, again, this is an awful disease that I
- 35:16Speaker 1: would hate.
- 35:16Speaker 4: To have, like human to get it. I don't think
- 35:19Speaker 4: humans can get it.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Can they put in? I believe so.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I believe there's foot in mouth disease is the but
- 35:24Speaker 3: I could be totally wrong. But also like in like
- 35:27Speaker 3: I was saying at the top of the show, like
- 35:29Speaker 3: the even if it's just something to affix cows in livestock,
- 35:33Speaker 3: like that could be a huge crisis. But yeah, no, yeah, kids,
- 35:39Speaker 3: people can get it. Yeah, you can get It's it's
- 35:41Speaker 3: not as bad as in as in animals, but but yeah,
- 35:44Speaker 3: like if something were to happen to that, we would
- 35:47Speaker 3: be fucked.
- 35:47Speaker 4: The editing in this section is maddening. They just keep
- 35:50Speaker 4: cutting back and forth between Jesse Ventura and June Sarpong.
- 35:54Speaker 4: They're completely different parts of the country, talking about completely
- 35:57Speaker 4: different shit snouts back to alex and they finally found
- 36:01Speaker 4: a captain willing to take him to Plumb Island. A
- 36:03Speaker 4: real renegade. He's got a skull and crossbones flag on
- 36:07Speaker 4: his boat. He's a pirate essentially.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 36:10Speaker 4: He's accompanied by a former Plumb Island employee named Jim McCoy,
- 36:15Speaker 4: who alleges he was fired after threatening to blow the
- 36:19Speaker 4: whistle on what they were doing there. And uh, this
- 36:22Speaker 4: is where we learned the boat chase was a lot
- 36:23Speaker 4: less dramatic than they made it out to be.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 36:26Speaker 1: It wasn't so much a chase as it was like
- 36:29Speaker 1: two boats.
- 36:30Speaker 4: Passing in the Yeah, just two boats going out to
- 36:34Speaker 4: do their respective jobs. The coast guard. Yeah, they just
- 36:38Speaker 4: followed them for a little bit, didn't stop them. Jesse
- 36:40Speaker 4: Venture at one point gets on the edge of the
- 36:42Speaker 4: boat and starts shouting at him.
- 36:45Speaker 3: That is just his vibe, like that is it feels
- 36:49Speaker 3: like he could start doing that at the drop of
- 36:51Speaker 3: a hat. And basically in these situation And I.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Don't wish government assassination on anyone, but God, that would
- 36:58Speaker 4: have been a funny time for it. Yeah.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the problem with government assassins is they don't
- 37:03Speaker 3: have any comedic timing exactly like they shot Kennedy while
- 37:08Speaker 3: he's in a car.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Yeah, next because next to his wife have some respect?
- 37:12Speaker 1: Yeah, like you could.
- 37:14Speaker 3: There's so many funnier moments to kill JFK. Like how
- 37:17Speaker 3: about while he's banging Marylyn Row right? Uh?
- 37:22Speaker 4: Anyway, anyway, moving on, so Jim McCoy. He says he
- 37:28Speaker 4: interrupted a meeting at the Administration building while working at
- 37:32Speaker 4: Plumb Island, and it sounds like maybe that's why he
- 37:35Speaker 4: got fired for crashing this meeting as opposed to asking
- 37:40Speaker 4: you know, he asked about security and monitoring inside the
- 37:43Speaker 4: bio containment area. So it sounds like he just kicked
- 37:46Speaker 4: in the door of this meeting and it was like
- 37:48Speaker 4: I have questions. Yeah, I feel like it.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Basically any workplace, if you barged in on a managerial
- 37:56Speaker 3: meeting and we're like, look, I have some very serious
- 37:59Speaker 3: concern about the security at this movie theater, they would
- 38:03Speaker 3: fucking fire you.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Yeah, they're gonna be like, HR will address them, thank you.
- 38:09Speaker 4: But he says that for for bringing all this, all
- 38:13Speaker 4: these questions up, he was fired. Huh, but who knows? Yeah,
- 38:18Speaker 4: and then there's so many people on.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Here who are who just say shit and then provide
- 38:24Speaker 3: no evidence, and then you're just like, who knows, I
- 38:27Speaker 3: don't know.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a big part of this series in general.
- 38:31Speaker 4: So Coastguard shows up again, so they decide they need
- 38:34Speaker 4: to leave. He's very mad that as a former governor,
- 38:38Speaker 4: he's not allowed access to Plumb Island. As we discussed,
- 38:41Speaker 4: how come we the people aren't the boss anymore.
- 38:45Speaker 2: We're the ones paying salaries of these people, and they
- 38:48Speaker 2: deprive us of letting us know what they do on
- 38:51Speaker 2: this island.
- 38:53Speaker 3: And you know what, He's right, They should just let
- 38:55Speaker 3: anyone into the war room. They should just you should
- 38:58Speaker 3: just have like a velvet road that you can stand
- 39:00Speaker 3: behind and watch the top secret meetings.
- 39:03Speaker 4: You couldn't go to Buffalo Wild Wings headquarters and do that.
- 39:08Speaker 2: That is so true.
- 39:10Speaker 3: There's basically no like there's security at every corporate headquarters,
- 39:16Speaker 3: every building, every major skyscraper has fucking security.
- 39:19Speaker 4: And here's how I know that because I have a
- 39:22Speaker 4: friend in Clint, who was absolutely obsessed with Buffalo Wild Wings.
- 39:27Speaker 4: He would go multiple times a week. He would buy
- 39:31Speaker 4: like hundreds of dollars in gift cards around Christmas because
- 39:34Speaker 4: if you bought like twenty five dollars worth, you got
- 39:38Speaker 4: a five dollars gift card. So it was like just
- 39:41Speaker 4: free money. He could spend at Buffalo Wild Wings And
- 39:44Speaker 4: at one point they're headquarters is in Minneapolis, and at
- 39:47Speaker 4: one point he called them and was like, look, I'm
- 39:50Speaker 4: an investor, which he is. He was like, I love
- 39:54Speaker 4: the store. What do you say? I get like a
- 39:56Speaker 4: tour of the headquarters and like the test kitchen and
- 39:59Speaker 4: stuff like that. They were like absolutely not. Who do
- 40:03Speaker 4: you think you are?
- 40:06Speaker 1: That's extremely funny.
- 40:07Speaker 2: I So if Clint can't get into B dubs HQ,
- 40:11Speaker 2: Jesse Venture is not getting into Plumb Island.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I mean, think about it.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Nobody could get into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory for decades
- 40:19Speaker 3: after he closed the gates exactly.
- 40:21Speaker 4: No one went in or out. You gotta have that
- 40:24Speaker 4: bioweapon ticket to get into.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Plumb Island, Yeah, the radioactive ticket.
- 40:30Speaker 4: So they Jesse Ventura goes to ask some questions. He
- 40:35Speaker 4: loves talking to a congressman.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're accessible, Like congressman got time.
- 40:41Speaker 4: Yeah, there's there's gonna be another one. In the next episode, Yeah,
- 40:45Speaker 4: he goes and talks to Congressman Timothy Bishop. He brings
- 40:49Speaker 4: up all this stuff about Plumb Island, like the Nazi thing.
- 40:52Speaker 4: That's great, But what's Timothy Bishop gonna do? Like he yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 4: he doesn't. He doesn't have any answers. Like he says,
- 41:00Speaker 4: he trusts what the government tells him. It's like, oh,
- 41:03Speaker 4: which does which?
- 41:04Speaker 1: Fucking pissed Jesse off. He repeated that line.
- 41:09Speaker 3: He repeats that line five This is the very end
- 41:12Speaker 3: of the episode, and at least five more times after this.
- 41:15Speaker 1: He says, but I guess I'm just not the type
- 41:19Speaker 1: to believe whatever the government tells me. Like that really
- 41:24Speaker 1: got under his skin. He was all over that one.
- 41:28Speaker 4: I did edit an older episode of this podcast recently.
- 41:31Speaker 4: I think you were on it. Danger Van Gorder was
- 41:34Speaker 4: on it, and I think Rivers Langley. At one point,
- 41:37Speaker 4: Danger said he's pretty sure we know everything bad the
- 41:42Speaker 4: government has done because of the Freedom of Information Act
- 41:45Speaker 4: request and the room exploded. Everyone was like, what the
- 41:52Speaker 4: fuck are you talking about? You think we know everything
- 41:56Speaker 4: because of the Freedom of Information Actress? Oh my god.
- 41:59Speaker 4: And here's the thing about Dan. He has a run
- 42:02Speaker 4: for office a couple of times, so take a job
- 42:05Speaker 4: to be like, yeah, man, government works exactly like they
- 42:08Speaker 4: say it does exactly. Yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 3: I don't know if I was on that episode, but
- 42:11Speaker 3: I you are definitely jumped to a bunch of retorts
- 42:15Speaker 3: to that.
- 42:16Speaker 1: As soon as you said that, it's like, wait a minute,
- 42:19Speaker 1: what we know everything? There's like a fifty year like
- 42:23Speaker 1: gap onoy. You gotta like have a bunch of time.
- 42:27Speaker 4: So, yeah, they talk about Plumb Island some more. With
- 42:30Speaker 4: this congressman, he just talks to more people. I don't
- 42:34Speaker 4: know nothing, Yeah, nothing really happens.
- 42:37Speaker 1: After he goes to the congressman.
- 42:38Speaker 3: That's basically it like he talks to like one or
- 42:41Speaker 3: two more people about the same shit and just keeps repeating.
- 42:45Speaker 3: You know, maybe some people would believe what the government
- 42:48Speaker 3: tells them, but I'm going to keep asking questions.
- 42:52Speaker 2: I love that the last line is, uh, if you
- 42:56Speaker 2: have a pet, make sure to check it for tics.
- 42:58Speaker 2: That's just good advice. You could, like Bob Barker the
- 43:01Speaker 2: end of every.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Episode with that.
- 43:03Speaker 3: I was just about to say, it's just like Bob
- 43:05Speaker 3: Barker telling you is Spey and Dooder.
- 43:08Speaker 1: That's so funny.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Nine eleven was an inside job. Check your pets for ticks?
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that should just be his regular sign off.
- 43:17Speaker 4: That would be great. That's gonna be the sign off
- 43:20Speaker 4: of this podcast from now. Oh yeah yeah, check your
- 43:22Speaker 4: pets for ticks everybody. So that's the end of the episode.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Jesse Venture is very angry. Yeah, uh, Plumb Island. I
- 43:29Speaker 4: don't know. Yeah, I don't doubt that we're working on
- 43:33Speaker 4: bio weapons somewhere. Maybe it's at Plumb Island, maybe it's not.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I really don't think off the coast
- 43:41Speaker 3: of like the Hamptons is gonna be a place where
- 43:45Speaker 3: they put a bio weapons facility because there's a lot
- 43:48Speaker 3: of rich people, and rich people will fucking destroy the
- 43:53Speaker 3: government if they can.
- 43:54Speaker 4: Yeah, it would be a risky place to put it.
- 43:56Speaker 4: We would almost certainly put it in another.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Country, That's what I'm saying.
- 44:00Speaker 4: It's probably in one of those Pacific islands that we
- 44:04Speaker 4: send all the spam to, yeah, or it's.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, or it's probably fucking Guantanamo, like you know,
- 44:12Speaker 1: who knows.
- 44:13Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Like I'm not saying that the government isn't doing awful shit,
- 44:17Speaker 3: but Home Island, you know, we do need places to
- 44:21Speaker 3: study animal diseases.
- 44:22Speaker 1: It's an important field of work.
- 44:24Speaker 4: And if all that's ever washed ashore is lime disease
- 44:27Speaker 4: and a weird looking raccoon, Kevin, how long it's been there,
- 44:30Speaker 4: that's not bad.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Exactly. Yeah, I mean, oh, there is one thing.
- 44:34Speaker 3: The one thing we didn't talk about is that, like
- 44:38Speaker 3: some I can't remember which guy tells a story about
- 44:42Speaker 3: a cow breaking loose from the facility, Yeah, and infecting
- 44:46Speaker 3: all of the other cows in the pin and so
- 44:49Speaker 3: they had to kill all of the cows. And they
- 44:53Speaker 3: make it sound like this is like horrific, like this
- 44:56Speaker 3: is like, you know, government corruption gone. While I'm like,
- 45:00Speaker 3: that's what literally any form would do. You can't keep
- 45:04Speaker 3: them alive.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I am. When they said that, I was like,
- 45:07Speaker 4: I imagine that happens all the time. Exactly. If one
- 45:11Speaker 4: cow makes a bunch of cows sick, then right, that's
- 45:14Speaker 4: a good way to spread it. You're gonna kill them anyway.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Right, There's there's not really any other way to handle
- 45:20Speaker 3: that situation, honestly, Like, you know, it's unfortunate but true.
- 45:25Speaker 4: You handle it with a well thought out campaign of
- 45:28Speaker 4: awareness on social media.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Yeah exactly. Yeah, tell the cows to wash their hands.
- 45:33Speaker 3: And.
- 45:35Speaker 4: So that's the episode next week I think I'm doing.
- 45:40Speaker 4: I'm going to finish out the I've been doing some
- 45:43Speaker 4: solo episodes about a book called the CIA and the
- 45:46Speaker 4: Cult of Intelligence, because I'm not going to ask people
- 45:49Speaker 4: to read a whole fucking book. And then we will
- 45:53Speaker 4: continue this series after that with part two Area fifty one,
- 45:59Speaker 4: which how did that not come up on season one?
- 46:01Speaker 4: That's such a big one.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Seriously that that's wild. They must have been like, we'll
- 46:07Speaker 3: wait till we have a bigger budget in the SEC
- 46:09Speaker 3: season so.
- 46:11Speaker 4: They can storm Area fifty one exactly. I'm surprised that
- 46:14Speaker 4: exact phrase isn't used at all in that episode.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Right, yeah, yeah, Jesse venturin Naruto runs into the area
- 46:21Speaker 3: fifty one.
- 46:25Speaker 4: So until then, do we have anything to plug Olivia?
- 46:28Speaker 4: How about it?
- 46:29Speaker 3: You can find me on Twitter at high there Hidar
- 46:31Speaker 3: if you would like to other than that, not not particularly.
- 46:37Speaker 4: Patreon, dot com, slash on Pops on Pops networked out,
- 46:40Speaker 4: Supercast dot tech. You can subscribe for bonus episodes there also,
- 46:44Speaker 4: And I think that's it. Let's get the fuck out
- 46:46Speaker 4: of here, Olivia, say goodbye, bye, goodbye. Everybody, We love you.
- 47:00Speaker 1: About the data above.
