- 0:00But what about Bow Bangor Management Fantasy Hockey
- 0:03podcast Whoa whoa, Korean woo? Woo, I don't know where we're
- 0:10gonna go with that, but yeah, I agree.
- 0:11Korean woofer Jakey but the welcoming everybody to Bangor
- 0:17management. The fantasy hockey podcast with
- 0:20Kevin, me and Josh me other side of the screen.
- 0:24Yeah, him. And be funny if the video like
- 0:26sometimes it puts us on the opposite side know.
- 0:29I'll try to fix it and make sure that we're pointing the right
- 0:31direction. But yeah, only two hosts today.
- 0:34If you listen to the previous episodes, you know that Jake is
- 0:36pursuing a karaoke career and sulk South Korea, so we'll give
- 0:40you guys updates on how that's going.
- 0:42But for now, it's not working out for him, so he'll probably
- 0:45be back in a few weeks. He's always still holding out
- 0:49hope for. That I hope or tried to vote or
- 0:52not letting me. But today we are covering the
- 0:57week 11 news and updates from around the NHL and also covering
- 1:02the famous would you rathers to end the podcast.
- 1:06So they are gonna listen to the end.
- 1:08You're not gonna wanna miss it. We got some spicy picks today.
- 1:12Josh peaked on one of them. I didn't peek.
- 1:14I've never peaked. I never will peak.
- 1:15I haven't even begun to peak. Group no, he didn't pick, but he
- 1:20he he was able to snipe which which duo I was going to pick.
- 1:24So we already had a brief discussion, but we were saving
- 1:27our thoughts for the rest of the podcast.
- 1:30It's not gonna be the same as only two for the would you
- 1:31rather is because of you. Thank you take but neither of us
- 1:38are feel like are good at that so.
- 1:40We just have to pull up everyone's junior numbers and
- 1:42that'll be Jake's take. That will be Jake's take, but
- 1:46OK, wait, we got some big things to cover today.
- 1:49So I guess, listen, let's just get right into.
- 1:51It. Yeah, let's get into it.
- 1:53And we're going to spend I think the most time on this first one
- 1:55and then the second one as well. And then we'll kind of zoom
- 1:59through a lot of the other ones. But first, big news of the week.
- 2:02I know we're a few days late, but that's just because that's
- 2:04our recording schedule and nothing, nothing can be done,
- 2:06fortunately. We mentioned already a little
- 2:08bit. Though we didn't mention it on
- 2:09another episode, but it belongs on the news episode because it's
- 2:12news. Right before getting into it,
- 2:14though, like I've been I've been going to war in the comments of
- 2:17our latest TikTok because we we posted a tick tock of it was a
- 2:21brief clip about us commenting on you know, we're going to get
- 2:24into it. But like the Jerry and the
- 2:25Skinner trade and I'm everybody apparently is the biggest Jerry
- 2:30fan and they think he's the next coming to Stuart Skinner was the
- 2:33worst goalie in the league. And basically we'll go more into
- 2:38it after, but I'm like these two guys are basically the same,
- 2:40just ones older and more injury prone.
- 2:42And why are you giving up A and why are you giving up a goal
- 2:46that's paid half as much a second round pick plus a player
- 2:49to make up for the cap difference to make a lateral
- 2:52move. Pretty much.
- 2:52That's basically our take. Like not saying Stuart Skinner
- 2:55is the. Best goal in the world?
- 2:56Get it? You're skipping ahead of the
- 2:57real big news, but I know you're battling it out and tick tock
- 3:00comment sections. People are just like, you guys
- 3:02don't know anything or like this is the worst thing I've ever
- 3:05seen. And I'm just like, guys like,
- 3:06are we watching the same players?
- 3:07Like do we not all these guys are This guy was waved last
- 3:09year. But anyway.
- 3:11It's so funny when like we get some like comments like that,
- 3:13like like, you know, see, like I was listening to your podcast
- 3:16and just listening to 5 minutes and realize you guys know
- 3:18nothing about puck or something that you know, And I'm like, I
- 3:21know this is a ridiculous comment, but it still hurts my
- 3:23feelings. Those are my feelings.
- 3:27Like I do actually watch the games and I think I know what
- 3:29I'm talking about. But yeah, the last that's,
- 3:31that's my little segue into making sure you guys first of
- 3:34all, drop us a follow on the social medias where everywhere
- 3:37you can find us is in the link, in the description, in the link
- 3:40in any of our social medias. Will be there.
- 3:44Yeah, and if you listen to this on Spotify or Apple Music,
- 3:47wherever else, make sure you just drop a follow for the
- 3:49podcast. So listen, you'll be notified
- 3:51every time the new episodes come live.
- 3:52You can rate US five stars if you like what you hear.
- 3:54That would be really appreciative and if you're
- 3:56watching on YouTube, thank you. Hopefully you like what you're
- 4:00looking at and give us a like as well.
- 4:03If if you like what you hear. So let's get let's get right
- 4:06into the news now, because I'm big trace to talk.
- 4:08About dying, even like, even like.
- 4:10I know I. Know I want to say like blue
- 4:11ball in me here, but I just want to get into it already, OK.
- 4:16Quinn, short for Quinta for Hughes, was traded to Minnesota
- 4:22for Zeboim, Marco Rossi, Liam Ogren and a first round pick.
- 4:28Minnesota is like the, you know, like that meme of like the WWE
- 4:31guy comes out of nowhere with like the chair and just like,
- 4:34you know, that's Minnesota. Or something.
- 4:36We finally get to roast me for that because I have no idea.
- 4:40We've got like, you know, New Jersey and Detroit, like, you
- 4:42know, in the ring and whatever. And then I don't know where
- 4:44Minnesota comes and it's like, yeah, no, it's a this is an
- 4:47absolutely insane trade. The timing is insane.
- 4:50Again, trade deadline is closed so fast.
- 4:52Yeah, this came out of nowhere, really.
- 4:54And I think it has huge, huge fantasy ramifications.
- 4:57So let's let's try and take it person by person that it could
- 5:01possibly affect. Let's start with the end of the.
- 5:041st Is this a good trade? Is this a good trade before we
- 5:08get into the deep dive? OK.
- 5:10I think looking at it from Cooper's perspective, they knew
- 5:12Hughes wasn't resigning. They knew that his value would
- 5:16only go lower because the closer they get to him being a free
- 5:18agent. And if word got out that he was
- 5:20for sure not resigning, they'd have no leverage.
- 5:22So they had to make a trade now. It's never resigning like he
- 5:25was, just exactly like in the recent months that is just like
- 5:28he's for sure not coming back. Like they knew for a fact and
- 5:31then you kind of have that, you know, it never feels good to be
- 5:34trading the best player in a trade, especially when it's like
- 5:36a superstar player like this, but with the background that
- 5:40they had no choice. I think they had they got a
- 5:42great return for someone who was leaving anyways.
- 5:44So look, if you look at it pure value wise, I still think Quinn
- 5:48Hughes is just too good to, you know, be traded, but with the
- 5:51situation they were in, I think they made the most out of it
- 5:53from Minnesota side. I love it as well because they
- 5:57got the best player in the trade by far.
- 5:59They gave up Rossi, who they didn't want Ogren's kind of a
- 6:02first round bus so far a first round pick, but you got to give
- 6:04up, you know, picks to to get a guy like Hughes.
- 6:07I think Boyum obviously is the biggest piece that they're
- 6:09losing, but with kind of like their cup timeline that they're
- 6:12looking at and how they just cutting trees off like they're
- 6:14they're all in. So why not go all in UR and try
- 6:18and compete with the, you know, Dallas and Colorado and their
- 6:20division? Yep, and I I saw that, you know,
- 6:26obviously William is like a big piece and he's a top prospect
- 6:29that was already coming to the NHL and everything, which is
- 6:31nice. But the reason why Minnesota was
- 6:33able to pull this off so fast apparently is because no other
- 6:35team even came close to offering a similar package.
- 6:38And because the other teams apparently just did not feel
- 6:40comfortable sending a package of this magnitude for a player that
- 6:44they had no guarantees would resign with them when the next
- 6:47two years are up in the contract takes expired.
- 6:49So I totally get it. It could be literally.
- 6:51It's definitely a lot of future assets and mortgage for a
- 6:55rental, But if it gets you a cup, then you're happy.
- 6:58You know what I mean? And you're still getting the
- 7:00you're still getting the best player by far.
- 7:02It really made me think of like, remember when Jack Eichel got
- 7:05traded and like they got it was like Crebs plus Tuck plus the
- 7:10first rounder plus whatever. We were just like, Oh my God,
- 7:12it's like it's a hall. And then you look back at it and
- 7:14just like the first round, there was nothing.
- 7:16Krebs is nothing. And Tuck is like a slightly
- 7:20above average winger that they're they might not even pay
- 7:23and they're going to trade. Meanwhile, Vegas got a cup with
- 7:26Jack Eichel, and he's the main piece of their team for the next
- 7:30decade, it feels like. 100% I mean, it's kind of like in
- 7:32fantasy, right? It's like the team getting the
- 7:34best player usually wins the trade, you know, every time.
- 7:37It's like the consolidating, like always take the, you know,
- 7:40it's it's similar to real life. You want?
- 7:42Yeah. Especially when it's guys of
- 7:44this magnitude that are like All-Star superstar players,
- 7:46Like, you know what you're getting and you know, it's a
- 7:48high level. Whereas, yeah, it might be nice
- 7:50if you know, all these three guys, boom, Rossi and the first
- 7:54round pick end up being studs, like you'll be really happy
- 7:57about that. There's just so much ambiguity
- 7:59and with the picks, it just feels like almost none of them
- 8:01pan out. So unless they're a top five
- 8:04pick and whatever. Like, obviously there's always
- 8:06great picks that happen throughout the draft and even
- 8:08later in the drafts, but it's just the probability when you
- 8:11can have Quinn Hughes is just nuts.
- 8:15Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, it could be anything.
- 8:17It could even be Quinn Hughes, you know?
- 8:18Exactly. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:21One thing to note is I did watch his postgame or post trade
- 8:25presser and I think that there's a solid chance free science and
- 8:29Minnesota. I think that I know everyone
- 8:31just. Expecting to make decision
- 8:32though. No, he doesn't have to make a
- 8:34decision and I know everyone kind of expects him to just go
- 8:36to New Jersey to play with his brothers.
- 8:37And I think that's totally reasonable.
- 8:39Either New Jersey or he has a home in Michigan.
- 8:40That's why people are expecting Detroit as well.
- 8:43But I think that first of all, he's a competitor, right?
- 8:46He really just wants to win. So if Minnesota like the next
- 8:49like year and a half while he's with them, if they can be really
- 8:52competitive, which they should be with the team they have built
- 8:55so far, then I think that was that could definitely sway him.
- 8:57And then also I think he's the type of guy like, I mean, like
- 9:00this is pretty much his words, not mine.
- 9:02So when I say I think he's the type of guy, he's kind of
- 9:04saying, um, he like takes into account, he's like, I won't
- 9:08forget the package that that was sent for me.
- 9:11You know, he's like Bill Garian, like stepped up.
- 9:13He had the balls to do it. You know, if another team wanted
- 9:15me, they could have offered a similar package, but they
- 9:17didn't. And I felt that I felt kind of
- 9:18targeted towards Detroit and New Jersey being like, look, I would
- 9:21have loved to be with either of you guys.
- 9:22You guys didn't, you know, you guys didn't step up to the plate
- 9:25and make the correct offer or the the big enough offer.
- 9:27And so he's like, I guess Matt, respect for Bill Guerin for
- 9:30doing it, and I think he appreciates it as well.
- 9:32Anything to get him out of Vancouver, right?
- 9:34So all that to say, I don't think that it's a guarantee he's
- 9:36leaving after two years. If he stays, I think it's a slam
- 9:39dunk of a win. If he leaves but they win a Cup,
- 9:41it's a win. If they don't win and he leaves
- 9:44for nothing, then it's an L. So we'll have to wait and see,
- 9:47but I like the move. Now let's talk about the fantasy
- 9:50aspect because that's what people care about at the end of
- 9:52the day. So first of all, for Quinn
- 9:54Hughes himself, easy. It's just a huge win, right?
- 9:57Getting out of Vancouver, getting play with Presov Boldy.
- 10:00Don't eat the one question that I had that I recently in the
- 10:03discord is like people were asking for, you know,
- 10:05potentially for next year or even for this year.
- 10:07They're like, is it? Is this now like, you know,
- 10:10Mccarran, Quinn, Hughes and then.
- 10:11Yeah, I you have to save your down for you have to save that
- 10:14for our mailbag episode. OK, There's enough to talk about
- 10:18that. We can save that specific
- 10:20question for the mailbag. So my tease of an answer here is
- 10:24that he was already a top three defenseman before this.
- 10:27So it's just like, yeah, he might have stretches where he's
- 10:30better, but he's always elite. And I can't feel, I can't
- 10:33imagine his production like takes the even bigger jump if it
- 10:36did he better than my car at that point.
- 10:38So yeah, although he has been pretty bad the past two weeks,
- 10:40so it'll. Definitely help them get back to
- 10:42below. Yeah, so it'll get him back to
- 10:44what he should be doing. So huge W for Quinn Hughes,
- 10:47other guys involved in the trade, Steve Boyum.
- 10:49Honestly, I think this is a W for him because he wasn't locked
- 10:52on to power play one in Minnesota.
- 10:54Look, it's a worst power play one he's going to.
- 10:56But when you make a trade like this, you have to, you have to
- 10:59showcase player who you made the trade.
- 11:01You have to show your fans and the everyone the organization
- 11:03have to show them like this trade was worth it for us.
- 11:05So they have every reason to want to make an incentive.
- 11:08Exactly. To make them once, they're just
- 11:10a bad team, yeah, that are not competing for anything, right?
- 11:13Like they're not, they're not trying to make the playoffs
- 11:14anymore. So might as well let your young
- 11:16guys develop and develop chemistry with, you know, the
- 11:18other guys on the unit. Absolutely.
- 11:20So I'd say it's a win for Boyum. Not necessarily rushing to pick
- 11:24him up, but I'm willing to take a flyer on him.
- 11:25He got two points his first game.
- 11:27They're both pretty fluky. I was watching the game and it
- 11:29was against New Jersey, who's in a free fall right now start
- 11:31planning the parade if you grabbed him, but I think he
- 11:34could be a solid pickup. Um, guys who got traded the
- 11:37other way, Marco Rossi. I see this as a win for him as
- 11:40well. He is on power play one
- 11:42currently in Vancouver. We'll see what happens when
- 11:44Patterson comes back. But it's kind of like you were
- 11:46saying that team is so bad that anyone who can play who like
- 11:50plays well will make their way into that.
- 11:53You know, top six and power play 1.
- 11:54So he has an opportunity he didn't have in Minnesota.
- 11:57So I like this for him. Ogre's kind of a nothing for
- 11:59fantasy and first round pick is is nothing fantasy.
- 12:01So I guess everyone in the trade kind of wins.
- 12:04Let's talk about the surrounding cast.
- 12:06I'd say this is a loss for everyone else on Vancouver.
- 12:09In fact is getting you know, even if William becomes a queen,
- 12:11he's like player right now. You just lost queen hugs and
- 12:13replaced him with a rookie. So it's going to be less points
- 12:16all around for that power play, for even strength, just
- 12:18everything. I think it sucks for Vancouver
- 12:20guys, not that they were doing well already anyways.
- 12:24And then for Minnesota, obviously it's a massive win,
- 12:28right? If you have a Presov or Boldy
- 12:30Erickson, Eck Zuccarello, when he comes back, like I'm super
- 12:34happy right now. It just it just.
- 12:35Feels like the I don't, I don't necessarily see it as like the
- 12:39ceiling got much higher, but I feel like the floor got much
- 12:42higher. Yeah.
- 12:43So like the range of outcomes of like the value of your players
- 12:45went from like, you know, this could be the range to like this
- 12:48could be the range, you know what I mean?
- 12:49I mean, like Minnesota power Play was already really good
- 12:52this year. That's what I'm saying.
- 12:52And they were alternating between like Boeheim, Faber and
- 12:56Spurgeon on Power Play 1. And you replace that with Quinn
- 12:59Hughes. It's like boat turns into
- 13:01spaceship turns into you know what's more than spaceship like?
- 13:05Demigod is just flying over whatever.
- 13:07Exactly. So I think that's, I think that
- 13:10covers all the aspects of that trade, but that's just massive,
- 13:12very exciting and fun. That's just a general hockey
- 13:15fan, Would you? Trade high on the Queen's hype.
- 13:18After the trade I saw some people.
- 13:20What can you do that? OK.
- 13:22I wish I had the scored that I saw on hand.
- 13:27Let me let me give me a little bit, but let me OK.
- 13:30So I love anytime I have a guy who's like involved in a trade
- 13:34like this. If you can trade on the
- 13:36potential that everyone sees in them, then absolutely you do it.
- 13:39So like everyone's minds, Quinn Hughes just became Kyle
- 13:43Mccarter, right? Like that's that's it.
- 13:45Like everyone, just like Quinn Hughes already second best
- 13:48defenseman in the league, now is getting put in a way better
- 13:50situation. There's no question he becomes
- 13:52the best defenseman in the league.
- 13:53So if you can trade on that value before he even proves it,
- 13:57then it's an automatic win because even if he proves it,
- 14:00you already traded on that value.
- 14:01So there's really no law. So absolutely, if you can trade
- 14:04him where everyone assumes in the trade that he's all of a
- 14:07sudden like the best defenseman in hockey, you do it.
- 14:10And then even if he becomes the best defence in hockey, it's
- 14:12still 1. Somebody somebody traded 4 Quinn
- 14:15Hughes and they got Quinn Hughes and Joel Erickson egg and they
- 14:20gave up. They gave up Jarvis, Gunther
- 14:24left Shanov and Boyum now. Easiest.
- 14:26I'm assuming this is a keeper league or something or cause
- 14:29not. Even.
- 14:29OK, well. This is only just.
- 14:31Really needed help. That's nice.
- 14:33So the original. Trade was Queen Hughes and
- 14:36Ericsson Ek for drivers Gunter and Rasmus Andersson which I was
- 14:40like slam dunk but then he was able to like Flip Anderson out
- 14:43and put in Lev Shanov plus Boyum instead.
- 14:46Crazy. That's actually crazy easy one.
- 14:48OK, let's move on to the next the next one.
- 14:50But that was that was super fun talk about because it's such a
- 14:53massive trade. Another more massive trade yeah,
- 14:55Tristan Jarry traded to Edmonton for Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak
- 15:00and a second round pick. I know we discussed this a bit
- 15:02on a previous episode, but let's just, uh, first of all, hockey
- 15:06wise, like you said with the previous one, I feel like
- 15:09Pittsburgh police Edmonton here. I think the police Edmonton as
- 15:14well in terms of like value for trade.
- 15:16And if you agree with us, please go on a tick tock and defend us
- 15:19in the comments because it's brutal out there guys.
- 15:21Like it's a whole other world like we have.
- 15:23I feel like we're living in our little equal sphere here and
- 15:26just like people that trust stuff and that know us and like
- 15:28all tick tock and just feel like people think we're like a random
- 15:31content creators. I'm just trying to get clicks.
- 15:32It's horrible. My feelings are hurt, but to me,
- 15:37I'm like for fantasy, if we're talking fantasy right now, it's
- 15:39like, OK, we saw Jerry play one game for Edmonton thus far and
- 15:44it wasn't anything too crazy. Like I think he just below 1900.
- 15:47They won the game. It was it was a blowout.
- 15:50Skinner has yet to play for Pittsburgh, but they're playing.
- 15:54Each other, yeah. This episode is going live
- 15:57tomorrow morning and they are, we are recording this like right
- 16:00before, literally right before Pittsburgh and.
- 16:04Actually feel like I have to watch this game like.
- 16:07It's like it's like a WWE event like people are.
- 16:10It's not Crosby versus McDavid. Tristan.
- 16:13Jarry versus Stuart Skinner. But if I'm just looking at the
- 16:18fantasy ramification, we're just gonna talk about the goal is
- 16:20because the only thing relevant here, I mean, Jerry is worth a
- 16:23pickup because he's going to be the starter.
- 16:26He's gonna be the starter for the foreseeable future now.
- 16:28Like same reason. Skinner was still like 60%
- 16:31rostered even when he was playing awfully.
- 16:33The goalie on Edmonton is always gonna have some sort of value
- 16:36because they win so many, yeah. And I think Stuart Skinner is in
- 16:40the same boat like he's going to be.
- 16:42I mean, I think he has less of a chance to be like the the full
- 16:46starter compared to Jerry. Like Jerry, like Picker is not
- 16:49not stealing any games from him. Yeah, whereas Skinner, I could
- 16:52see them being like, alright, let's give she loves the game
- 16:54here or whatever. But I still expect Skinner to
- 16:57get the bulk of the workload. And also he could be trade bait
- 17:01as well for another goal if another team like needs a goalie
- 17:04near the deadline. Like they could flip them like
- 17:05they have no ties or allegiance to him long term.
- 17:08Right now. He doesn't have a contract.
- 17:10Yeah. And.
- 17:10The day they've got Sheilas and Marisha off yeah, you know
- 17:13cupboard kind of marinating so so but they also.
- 17:16Want it to be like during the third in the playoff picture
- 17:19right now, which we did not expect to be the case at all
- 17:21thus far. So that's surprising in itself.
- 17:25But for Skinner, I still have scanner on my roster.
- 17:27I had it when he was on Edmonton.
- 17:28I'm holding him through the trade and I'm going to see right
- 17:31now, like I'm giving a peek into the league of record right now,
- 17:34but I'm holding 3 goalies. I need to hold only two goalies
- 17:38and my goalies right now are or Jet, Grieves, Skinner and
- 17:41Askarov, Askerov safe. But right now it's kind of feels
- 17:44like a little tryout for Grieves and Skinner on my roster.
- 17:47Right now I'm leaning towards keeping Skinner just because I
- 17:49think the Penguins should have more wins and I do like Grieves
- 17:53as a goalie and I think he has better quality in him.
- 17:55Like he's putting up good percentages is just a team
- 17:57around him letting him down like they cannot buy.
- 17:59It's like he's had like 7 straight starts without a win.
- 18:02It feels like they always choking in the third period.
- 18:04It's honestly horrible. Yeah but I feel really bad
- 18:07dropping him an hourly. There's nobody on waivers right
- 18:09now that's good so. Yeah, anyway, so that's a super
- 18:12interesting one. We'll see.
- 18:13I can see it working out for both teams this year at least.
- 18:16Um, but yeah, it kind of just feels like a lateral move it.
- 18:19Does. So let's let's move on.
- 18:21Those were the two big trades from the week.
- 18:23So back to your regular scheduled injuries and health.
- 18:27Patrick Kane is out at least two games with an upper body injury.
- 18:30He's on my teams. That sucks.
- 18:32JVR is taking his spot on power play 1.
- 18:36James van Riemsdyk for the newer the newer folk who don't
- 18:39remember him from his Toronto days 14.
- 18:43And long hold like people, I feel like people were only
- 18:46recently starting to be like, oh, this can like actually worth
- 18:48holding besides streaming. I'm just like, bro, like we've
- 18:51been we've been talking about team being a valuable asset for
- 18:53like months. It feels like it's crazy.
- 18:55I drafted him in like the 15th round in our league and he's
- 18:58like been point per game, like .4 power play points, three
- 19:01shots all season. It's just that he's old and gets
- 19:04injured a decent amount that people are, and you know, people
- 19:06don't believe it. Like line 1 all the time, yeah.
- 19:09Exactly, but still producing very much a season long hold so
- 19:13definitely sucks see how long he's out for.
- 19:15It said. Like what I read is that he
- 19:17retweeted whatever he entered last time he got injured.
- 19:20So Tweak makes it seem like maybe it's not a big deal, but
- 19:23we'll see what happens. Every time I have a guy who's
- 19:24day-to-day, he's out for like 3 weeks.
- 19:26So we'll see here. First, he's about to miss a
- 19:28month. But I'll have to say what.
- 19:31What I'm doing with Kane is if I have IR plus, I'm just easily
- 19:34stashing and if I don't have IR plus and he's basically a dead
- 19:38spot if he's not playing, I'm still holding for the moment.
- 19:41Just until we get a clearer timeline, because it's just two
- 19:43games, I'm biting the bullet. It's like Josh Norris last week
- 19:46they got sick, they missed two games.
- 19:48I'm not cutting a guy like that that I see that has future value
- 19:51just for these two games, you know what I mean?
- 19:52So I want King and my roster. JVR, I'm not really tempted into
- 19:56picking up. I think even if he's on PP 1, I
- 19:59don't really have interest in him unless let's say Kane, they
- 20:02disclose that he's out for like a month plus, then we'll see.
- 20:05Maybe he'll have more standalone value.
- 20:07But right now I'm not taking the shot on him.
- 20:09Yeah. Thing with him is that, first of
- 20:10all, he's not good. But also like, even if Kane is
- 20:13out long-term, like, it's like guaranteed to have that power
- 20:15play one spot the entire time. Like they have plenty of other
- 20:17guys who can take it if he doesn't perform.
- 20:19So see, I'm not rushing to pick him up.
- 20:21Let's move on to something that doesn't make me depressed.
- 20:23Charlie McAvoy returned from injury and bumped Hampus
- 20:26Lindholm power play 1. He came back pretty early.
- 20:29What I'm learning, honestly, is that everybody's out a schedule.
- 20:33Everyone's. Ahead of schedule and anytime I
- 20:35in my mind, I'm like, should I be sending Billows for this guy?
- 20:37He's out indefinitely. I don't know, send the buy low.
- 20:40That's what I've learned. My missed the Rasmus Dahlin
- 20:42opportunity, this Mackoy opportunity actually sending out
- 20:45non-stop offers. So this one I'm not putting on
- 20:47myself. The owner just didn't wanna
- 20:48trade with me, which is fair enough.
- 20:50Um, but uh, but no like like who else?
- 20:53OK, Timo Meier singing leave of absence right now.
- 20:55That's actually the next point bullet point post team admires
- 20:59taking a leave of absence will be out indefinitely.
- 21:01Are sunny grits. You got a spot on perfect.
- 21:02But then he got injured too. So now it's Stephen Mason.
- 21:05But as I was saying as part of the last point, I'm absolutely
- 21:07sending billows for Timo Meyer. And I know that indefinitely is
- 21:10scary, but what I've learned over the past few weeks and
- 21:13honestly from previous years, indefinitely is like never as
- 21:17long as you expect, but people get a lot scared.
- 21:19But it depends. It could be, it could be like 3
- 21:21months and ends up being like 2 months or whatever, which is
- 21:24still a month of value. But yeah, you know I.
- 21:25Don't wanna say a blanket statement, but if you're in a
- 21:28good position where you could take on a guy who could be on
- 21:30you will be on your IR for a bit then.
- 21:32I love buying low on these indefinitely because people get
- 21:34freaked out and we're. Talking about buying low also,
- 21:36we're not sending fair value as if he was healthy to try to get
- 21:39him off the other teams roster, right?
- 21:40Like you, you can send like we're not doing the buy low
- 21:43episode right now, but like Timo Meier, like you could probably
- 21:46send, maybe you could send a package of like Bertuzzi plus or
- 21:49like Bertuzzi is like a major cell high.
- 21:51Like I'm like get him off your roster right now.
- 21:53Obviously one for one that's not happening.
- 21:54But would you trade like Gunther for team one wire?
- 21:58No, cuz healthy. I'd rather get there than Meyer.
- 22:00Wow. OK, I still think I'm pretty
- 22:02high. On get there, I mean I'm still
- 22:04curious to see what happened like Myers an interesting one
- 22:07when I'm not sure he's gonna be power play one when everything
- 22:09shakes out. So that's the only reason.
- 22:11But let's say instead of team, let's say when Charlie McAvoy
- 22:13was out, right, Like I'm super into like I'm, you know, yeah.
- 22:17Anyways, all that to say, would you guys go?
- 22:1914 more. Um, assuming like that's gonna
- 22:25be a bullet point later, but Hagel just got injured.
- 22:27Assuming assuming he was healthy or just or in like real time
- 22:30resuming. Like he comes back next game
- 22:32like he goes after the head. It was just a concussion.
- 22:34But no, I think. I think I still just prefer
- 22:36Hagel to Meyer. OK, That's it.
- 22:38We're talking about, like buying low, right?
- 22:39So that's why I love you. I love your Bertuzzi one.
- 22:41That's a perfect one. You can make happen, yeah.
- 22:45Eventually attend for Meyer I'd even send this one might seem
- 22:47crazy, but outside for Hagee, he was a he was our cell high from
- 22:50that doesn't. Seem crazy at all.
- 22:52I wanna give her Aggie off my roster.
- 22:53Yeah, very For Timo Meyer right now.
- 22:54That seems like a slam dunk, I think.
- 22:56OK, that's that can get done. Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:59However, he would. 14 Meyer, Yeah.
- 23:03I think religions. To either of those guys, I fully
- 23:05agree and. I think you get Timo Meyer plus
- 23:06if you're sending those guys. Definitely is really like it,
- 23:11packs more of a punch if the team is like near the lower the
- 23:13bottom 100%. Like the guys the bottom?
- 23:15Three team who is out indefinitely, though, you can
- 23:17send a trade like those guys in first place and you lose the
- 23:19team. Meyer just wanna hold, Yeah.
- 23:22Exactly, but also it depends like every person and every
- 23:25manager has different risk tolerance right?
- 23:27So you send out the offer, you try and get what you can and you
- 23:31can gauge how they feel about the situation.
- 23:33If you're in a league where the guys like indefinitely, I don't
- 23:35care about that. Like I can hold on to him, then,
- 23:37you know, maybe doesn't get done.
- 23:38But if you're a league guys like panicking, being like, Oh my
- 23:40God, this guy might just be worth nothing all year.
- 23:42Like that's when he counts. So it's leaked dependent.
- 23:44But yeah, talking about Devils, we've got CMON Nemic is was
- 23:48injured at practice and will be out at least two weeks.
- 23:50But it seems like a while. Luke Hughes and Dougie Hamilton
- 23:53are back to splitting power play one.
- 23:54It also makes no sense. It's not even game in game out
- 23:56anymore. Like I was watching the last
- 23:58like devils game. They're on the power play.
- 24:00Luke Hughes is on power play 1. They get A5 on three on that
- 24:03same power play immediately they swap him with Dougie like it's
- 24:06within the same power play lightning thing, Like they're
- 24:08just, I don't know. I don't even know wireless swap.
- 24:11Model type of thing like I don't know, it was like. 20 seconds
- 24:13into the power play it became A5 on three and then they swapped.
- 24:15Like, I really don't know why you're trying to write.
- 24:18A game and it's not working. Honestly like he's just terrible
- 24:23coach but I'm also salty because I'm a druggie owner and it's.
- 24:28Been like the word fantasy world he's actually been.
- 24:30Awful yeah, he's been like 0 point just garbage.
- 24:32But anyways, yeah, so they're splitting it right now.
- 24:35I don't want to own any of these guys, but like Doug is getting
- 24:37dropped in a lot of leagues. If your league is a deep league,
- 24:40as much as I hate having him on my team, if you're in a good
- 24:42position, I would scoop him up for free if you can.
- 24:45I just think that like there's got.
- 24:46To be better, there's a head can get worse than it is right now.
- 24:48It literally. Can't get worse and he's been in
- 24:51trade. I know he's gotta know like no
- 24:53trade clause like partial or something, but I know the team
- 24:56wants to ship him and wherever he goes.
- 24:58The only team that would take him as a team that wants to put
- 24:59him in power play one. In my opinion, I just don't see
- 25:01a team grabbing him with that salary cap and not putting on
- 25:04power play 1. So we'll see what happens.
- 25:06Honestly, I'm kind of holding I'm in a decent spot in our
- 25:09league so I'm holding until around the trade deadline.
- 25:11And if if he doesn't get traded and he's been this garbage this
- 25:14whole time, then I'll just drop him.
- 25:15But he has the potential to be someone you're really happy to
- 25:18get for free. Yep, Anyways, let's move on
- 25:20again, more things that that are pissing me off this year, so
- 25:23let's get away from that. Jared McCann got injured again
- 25:27and will be out for three weeks. Ely Tolvanen taking his spot on
- 25:30line one power play one. I like Tolvanen as a bangers guy
- 25:33and with the deployment it's solid.
- 25:35Nothing too exciting though. Seattle I think is the worst
- 25:37offence in the league, but McCann, I think this is just.
- 25:41Yeah. Just like a certified squishy
- 25:44boy at this point he just can't stay healthy.
- 25:47I don't even know following him at this point like when he's
- 25:50healthy. He's actually good and he likes
- 25:51being a little bit too. So it's just I think the more
- 25:54the question here is like people didn't really have McCann on
- 25:57their on their rosters. It felt like before this.
- 25:59So if you can stash dash, if you can stash drop, I'm not I don't
- 26:02feel bad about it. Absolutely.
- 26:04Tolvanen, I feel like, let's not forget, it's not like you guys
- 26:07getting this deployment and he's a direct replacement.
- 26:09Like McCann was missing a lot of time before and it wasn't there
- 26:13the whole time either as a permanent replacement.
- 26:16So he has the deployment is good.
- 26:18You, you you're interested, but somebody asked Tolvanen or
- 26:21Toffoli and I went to Foley. Yeah, absolutely.
- 26:24So I I still feel like that's kind of the range of guys we're
- 26:26talking about right now. And if he gets bumped off, like
- 26:29if hits is a big part of your league, maybe I do favor 12 and
- 26:32a little bit because he does have that element to his game.
- 26:34But in general, this is not a blockbuster move for me.
- 26:37I'm not rushing to pick him up, no.
- 26:39And I mean, in that specific scenario, like let's say hits
- 26:41are involved right now, I'd rather have Tolvanen, but I'm
- 26:44much more likely to drop to Alvin in the next two weeks than
- 26:48I am to, Foley said. That makes sense.
- 26:50So like, sometimes there's a guy who you'd rather have right now,
- 26:52but he's, uh, more likely to be dropped.
- 26:54So, you know, you'd probably go with the safer bet.
- 26:56OK, here's a big one. Connor Bedard is out with an
- 27:00upper body injury. It's a separated shoulder until
- 27:02at least January. Nick Lardis got called U and
- 27:05getting his spot on power play 1 and Frank Nazar is getting his
- 27:09spot on line one. But this is massive.
- 27:11Before, like earlier in the season, I was saying that anyone
- 27:14who has any exposure to Bedard is worth holding because of how
- 27:17unreal Bedard was. Like anyone on that power play
- 27:19one, we're talking like Bertuzzi, we're talking
- 27:21Burkowski, we're talking left Shanov, right.
- 27:24So Spencer Night also has definitely benefiting from
- 27:27Bedard so that whole team just becomes a dumpster fire now.
- 27:31Like he literally was the only thing keeping that team afloat.
- 27:35It's honestly really sad because like he was, he was playing like
- 27:38a first round draft pick in fantasy leagues where you
- 27:40probably got him in the third round or even later potentially
- 27:43in some leagues. So it was tremendous value.
- 27:45And also he's just like fun to watch.
- 27:48Like he's a great player. He made the league, He made this
- 27:50Blackhawks team, like really fun to watch as well.
- 27:52So right now I'm just like, if I have Blackhawks players on my
- 27:55roster, I just want to get them off my roster.
- 27:57And because none of the guys were released super valuable
- 27:59already to begin with. But like the number 2 sees the
- 28:02Nazars like these are probably only gonna get potentially a
- 28:04boost of this. But he's got line one.
- 28:06He's not even on P1. So what's what are we?
- 28:09What are we doing here? You know, like why is why is
- 28:10Nick Lardis no shape to Nick Lardis?
- 28:12But why is he getting P1 when guys like I think.
- 28:15NASCAR is on top one. I think he had it before the
- 28:17last checked. It he wasn't there.
- 28:19Because I was seeing seeing. Auto on Internet on TV 2 on P2.
- 28:26I was seeing as power play one I was seeing Nasar for Tuzi,
- 28:30Berkowski, Lardis and Love Shanov.
- 28:34OK, Yeah, as as we speak right now.
- 28:36Bertuzzi, Nazar. Lardis, Burkowski, Grayslake.
- 28:40Yeah, the production office getting scratched because he
- 28:42missed a he was showed up to the wrinkled.
- 28:43So yeah, he's still. Classy one.
- 28:44But yeah, we'll be there. So the main, the main guys are
- 28:47not on there is Teravainen and Donato.
- 28:49So yeah, if it stays like this, listen, I think Nazar gets a
- 28:52boost. But the guys around them, I'm
- 28:55not too thrilled to hold these guys right now.
- 28:57Like they were already over performing.
- 28:58I'm trying to get them off my roster.
- 29:00Absolutely. All right, Jason Zucker is out
- 29:03again with a lower body injury. Zach Benson takes his spot on
- 29:06power play 1. This sucks, right?
- 29:08What a sucker. Was a guy that we were talking
- 29:11about a lot on the pod. People picked him up.
- 29:13People were loving him because he was putting up a ridiculous
- 29:15points in power play points for a random guy that most people
- 29:18haven't heard of, unless you listen to us in the offseason
- 29:20where we talked about him. But but yeah, I mean, it just
- 29:23seems like he's having one of those seasons that sometimes
- 29:25players have where they're just really in and out with injuries.
- 29:29So again, if you have the IR spot, I'm happy to stash him.
- 29:32If not, I'm happy to drop him. And then I'm not running to pick
- 29:35up Benson either. I know like earlier in the
- 29:37season he looked like he can be like legit, but right now I'm
- 29:40not seeing it seems like more of the guys in that realm.
- 29:43It seems like Josh Stones more the guy to own than Benson.
- 29:45But but yeah, I mean, watch list him and see if he could go back
- 29:49to what he was doing at the start of the season.
- 29:50Yeah, if he. Gets a little hot and he still
- 29:52exposed to you know, the changes the Josh Norris then I'm I'm
- 29:55interested. But right now, I think this
- 29:57honestly gives a boost to to Alex Tuck, who we've been trying
- 30:00to get shipped off our our rosters as much as possible
- 30:02because a lot of his situation is just a little bit squishy.
- 30:06But would right now this seems to be line 1P1 and that might
- 30:11stick for a little bit. So they.
- 30:12Have you think he's power play one over Benson he.
- 30:15Was power play one over Benson lost last game.
- 30:19OK, so. That's what, super smooth,
- 30:22fluid. Yeah, exactly.
- 30:24They just really, there's just some teams, no reason.
- 30:27They know like as of the practice today, they put a Mac
- 30:29PB 2. So let's yeah.
- 30:30It's just it's I would always. Bet on Tuck being still trying.
- 30:34To yeah, I want to do is like Hegel and probably one.
- 30:38Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah, so that's definitely
- 30:42interesting. And on topic of of the Sabres,
- 30:45they hired a new GM. They finally fired Kevin Adams
- 30:48and hired the worst. Gym in the league.
- 30:50I'm sorry. Like, honestly, like it was just
- 30:52it's like every time I see a trade, I'm like, why is Buffalo
- 30:55doing this? Yeah.
- 30:56So they hired Jarmo Kekalainen, you may remember him from
- 30:59Columbus. And yeah, I mean, I think he he
- 31:03recently like had a press conference and said, I think we
- 31:06can be playoff contenders this year, you know, like stuff like
- 31:09that and say, what's he going to say, right?
- 31:11But I mean, look, it could only be better for Buffalo, right?
- 31:14Like any change is a good change for them I think.
- 31:18This is like a breath of fresh air for the team and they feel
- 31:20like rejuvenated a little bit because honestly, guys, he was
- 31:22like the worst gym. He was actually the worst gym in
- 31:25the league. And the fact that they were able
- 31:27to swap him out for somebody like it was about time he got
- 31:29fired. I think the players are going to
- 31:30be happier. I think there's like a new era
- 31:34kind of in Buffalo right now. I'm not saying kick line is
- 31:37going to be the solution and it doesn't have his faults either,
- 31:40but I I don't, I don't my house, he's not worth it.
- 31:44Kevin Adams. So yeah.
- 31:45I I agree and well, it'll be interesting to see how he
- 31:47handles the Byram and the tough situations.
- 31:50I know he said that his goal is to sign Tuck, but they have to
- 31:53agree on a number. If they don't agree, then he'll
- 31:55be shipped and environs gone. So we'll see.
- 31:57We'll see how that shakes out over the course of the season.
- 32:00I would. Love to be in this playoff race
- 32:02though because I feel like it makes all their fantasy assets
- 32:04even more valuable. Fair share because honestly been
- 32:07right. Now, like every single team is
- 32:09in the playoff race, six points out of a playoff spot, but
- 32:12they're like 8 teams out because of how close it is.
- 32:15It's super fun. I love it.
- 32:16It makes it makes it super interesting.
- 32:18So so they definitely not out of it.
- 32:19People like to clown on. They're clowning on him saying
- 32:22we're a playoff team, but like 6 points out.
- 32:24Super reasonable. Yeah, look at the hubs last
- 32:26year. We were last place in the league
- 32:27and we made the playoffs like at this point.
- 32:28So yeah, moving on to some news that breaks my heart because
- 32:32I've been a believer all year is Dylan Holloway is out six weeks
- 32:36with a high ankle sprain. Jig Neighbors is taking a spot
- 32:39on power play 1 Holloway. Like I know his points haven't
- 32:42been there this year, but he was starting to turn it around and
- 32:45the bangs have just been unreal. Like he he has been continuing
- 32:48with that. So this is a big loss in any
- 32:50bangers league. And this is similar 1 to a lot
- 32:53of the others where if you have the spot, you stash him and if
- 32:55not, then I think you have to drop with just the turn, how
- 32:57long term the injury is and how he's been this year.
- 32:59So it sucks. I mean, also like Saint Louis
- 33:01looks like they were finally kind of getting going.
- 33:03Like, Robert Thomas is on a little point streak and yeah,
- 33:07it's just a brutal timing. Very.
- 33:09Brutal timing. I am interested in Jake
- 33:11Neighbors. However, I feel like with he's
- 33:14already kind of like a low-key bangers type of guy.
- 33:16Like he he does hit a lot. His shots were not always super
- 33:18consistent, but he could be a double, double.
- 33:20And I think with the increased role, he has a better shot of
- 33:24not than being a valuable asset for your bankers categories
- 33:26leagues, which we love. But even in points leagues, I
- 33:29feel like with the line 1P1, he has some good upside to him,
- 33:33yeah. Absolutely, and I'm playing him
- 33:34this week so that's guaranteed. Just an insane week.
- 33:36So go pick him up. He already put up a point and
- 33:39four hits against me anyways and one thing.
- 33:41I lost Patrick Kane and I picked up Jake Neighbors and he won me
- 33:45hits in my last match up in the in categories and this this week
- 33:49he's I think he's already out of the system.
- 33:50So nice. Here's another big one.
- 33:54Will Smith is out with an injury, William Eckland taking
- 33:57his spot on power play 1 and or I don't know if it's to Foley or
- 34:01Eckland that like they kept shuffling.
- 34:02Around it was on there was been there.
- 34:04I know. He was on power play too for a
- 34:05bit, but but maybe he was there most recently.
- 34:08So so I'll say to fully taking his spot on power play one for
- 34:11some reason, the one guy who's a lock there is Alexander
- 34:13Weinberg. But I guess he needed
- 34:15philosophies. Yeah, exactly.
- 34:18But I know this is a massive, massive loss for them.
- 34:21But so far what I want, I think they're only guaranteeing he's
- 34:24out for one week. So he might be out for more, but
- 34:27it's at least a week, you know, but that's not too bad, right?
- 34:31It looked like he can be out much longer term than that.
- 34:33So hopefully it's a it's shorter term because they also were kind
- 34:36of I mean, first of all season they've been outperforming, but
- 34:39him and celebrity have been, you know, buds on and off the ice
- 34:42killing it points wise and they've been just doing really
- 34:45well. So hopefully he comes back soon.
- 34:47And in the meantime, Eckland and Toffoli both get a boost.
- 34:50Whichever one of them, you know, wouldn't have been on power play
- 34:53one now gets it. So definitely.
- 34:58Echelon power play one full stretch it was Will Smith on P2
- 35:02or Toffoli on P2. OK.
- 35:05I thought I'd seen acting on PowerPoint 2 at some point, but
- 35:08maybe he was a plugged into the. Situation.
- 35:10Yeah, I. Know, I know you have a lot of
- 35:13stakes in that so, but. I'm mostly interested in seeing
- 35:18who ends up playing online one because I feel like San Jose is
- 35:21just like, their lines are a little weird.
- 35:23Yeah, Weinberg is centering Toffoli and Eckland, who are the
- 35:27best, both best wingers on this team outside of Will Smith and
- 35:31celebrating kind of left hanging on to dry with Colin Graph and
- 35:36Chernyshov. Yeah, at the moment, that's
- 35:39what's the situation is like. Yeah.
- 35:41Yeah, we'll see. If they consolidate into one
- 35:44bigger line or whatnot, I'd be interested to see that.
- 35:46But as long as everybody's on PP1, I'm interested in those
- 35:48guys, yeah. Joseph Wall is healthy and he'll
- 35:52bump that is held to be from the starting job again.
- 35:54The Toronto starting job is not what it used to be.
- 35:56It's not that coveted, like I must must have that guy on my
- 35:59team, but was a solid goalie when he could stay healthy.
- 36:02So I definitely like him as a pickup.
- 36:04If he's available in your league, I like him better than
- 36:06most goalies that are probably available on waivers.
- 36:08Yep, I I just recommended somebody to pick up Tristan
- 36:11Jarry for Joseph Wall I. Think that's fair though.
- 36:13I think I like Jerry better than Wall right now.
- 36:16Just like I said, like if you ask me that a year ago, if
- 36:18you're like Wall is there and stole ours is not coming back
- 36:21anytime soon. Seawall, but but now it's just a
- 36:26kind of lower stakes with how the leaves have been.
- 36:28Yeah, On that note, stole ours is not nearing a return.
- 36:32He's going to get a second opinion.
- 36:33Things are not resting well. It makes it sound like he could
- 36:36be out almost the whole season. That's kind of the vibe I'm
- 36:38getting, which is. Really sad because like we saw
- 36:40him like when he was healthy, he was actually a really solid
- 36:42goalie for them. So absolutely.
- 36:44But it means Wall is the undisputed starter again, not as
- 36:47long as it can handle. The workload and.
- 36:50The load as long as he can handle all the loads let's move
- 36:53on John Carlson returned from injury but did not take his spot
- 36:57back on power play one who could have predicted that your
- 37:00federally underhood Bangor management podcast hosts that's
- 37:03who yeah so we really hope that everyone sold high on him when
- 37:07we when we recommended it about I don't know if it was 2 weeks
- 37:09ago or one week ago but but yeah I really hope you guys sold high
- 37:13because he's only going downhill from from what he was doing
- 37:16before the injury if. You listen to us.
- 37:18We were just like this was a get must get off your roster because
- 37:22you know he was banged up so he wasn't in the lineup, but he
- 37:25wasn't on P1. You could have used it to your
- 37:26advantage when trading. A lot of people were able to get
- 37:29them off their roster, which I'm really happy about that We saw
- 37:31in the discord. But if you're still holding, I'm
- 37:34still trying to make a deal happen for whatever I.
- 37:35Don't think it's too late to sell.
- 37:37It might not be as high as you could have sold, you know, a
- 37:39week ago, but like he still has has some value.
- 37:42So I would still try and sell and.
- 37:44Does this mean that he's never going to be on P1 again?
- 37:47No, obviously there, there's, there's.
- 37:49I feel like it's a 5050 chance that he ends up back there at
- 37:52some point. I mean.
- 37:53Ethan Frank is not a lock, you know.
- 37:54No, Ethan Frank is not. A lock, but the fact that he was
- 37:56injured came back, Leonard got hurt, and Ethan Frank is holding
- 37:59up the spot and not just immediately putting him there
- 38:01raises eyebrows already. So absolutely.
- 38:03So I'm not, I'm not enthused to have John Carlton on my roster,
- 38:06no. Alright, let's dive into a few
- 38:09Tampa Bay Lightning tidbits here.
- 38:11So Victor Hedman is getting elbow surgery, will be out until
- 38:13February. Darren Radish is the undisputed
- 38:15power Play 1D on this team until February and then he'll still be
- 38:20the powerful 11 Headman comes back, but maybe it'll be a bit
- 38:22more disputed. But look, we we highlighted
- 38:25Radish as a cell high in our last episode and that was with
- 38:28the full knowledge of Hedman's injury.
- 38:30So I think that this injury increases Radishes value, but it
- 38:35might increase his value in people's minds more than it
- 38:38should be increased. And that's where you take
- 38:39advantage. So he's going to be great season
- 38:41could be one of the free agent pickups of the year.
- 38:43But if you can sell high on what he's been doing, then absolutely
- 38:45do it. Talking about the Lightning
- 38:48again, Brandon Hagel was injured in yesterday's game.
- 38:50I don't know if you saw Kevin, but he got.
- 38:52The right to elbow to the face. Yeah, and it was honestly like,
- 38:57I'm glad he does not suspended because I haven't won my team.
- 38:59But it was bad. It was all elbow he was.
- 39:01Leading with the elbow? Like coming for you?
- 39:04Exactly. He was coming from a mile away
- 39:06and it was just straight elbow. But yeah, so this is.
- 39:09Like locking loaded, like ready to go, Yeah.
- 39:12This is the third time that Hagel's getting a head injury
- 39:15playing against Florida in the past, I think season and a half
- 39:18ever since he had that hit on, on bark of I think they're just,
- 39:21they have his number and Florida just never has to pay the price
- 39:25for anything. So this sucks as a Hegel owner.
- 39:27We'll see what happens. Like with Tampa, you know, they
- 39:30always make everything sound like they're dead and then they
- 39:32come back like 2 games later. So we'll see what happens.
- 39:35Would you? Rather be a concussion or like a
- 39:37jaw injury. I'd.
- 39:39Rather a jaw injury. Even though that might knock him
- 39:42out longer term. Vilica.
- 39:43Like, look at Macavoy, you're not gonna get a worse draw
- 39:45injury than he got. And he came back within like two
- 39:47or three weeks. And I don't know, concussion is
- 39:51just, it's more, Yeah, exactly. If he's a lot more.
- 39:54Ambiguous because there's not like a injury timeline.
- 39:57It's all. Yeah, it's.
- 39:58Also like jaw injury, like you get it fixed, whatever you come
- 40:01back doesn't like let's say you're back your feet.
- 40:04Yeah. And also like your back, you
- 40:05know, concussion, like, like if you take a bad hit and you just
- 40:08came back from a jaw injury reporting the full cage, you're
- 40:10not gonna reactivate your jaw injury, you know?
- 40:12But like concussion, you take like, it doesn't even have to be
- 40:14a bad hit. You can't.
- 40:15You take a awkward hit or something like that and you can
- 40:17reactivate your concussion. So yeah, definitely prefer that.
- 40:20And then again, but on some good news for Tampa, Vasilevsky is
- 40:23back from injury and Yonis slash, Jonas Johansson, Josh
- 40:27Johansson still don't know which one it is, is back to backing
- 40:30up. So that's really exciting for
- 40:31Vasilevski owners, Johansen owners.
- 40:34I mean, it was a great stream while it lasted.
- 40:35He he really put up good numbers for you.
- 40:37Doesn't give a lot. Of value yeah a. 100% so enjoyed
- 40:40it while you could and now he's gone.
- 40:42But that's how these things work.
- 40:45And left it, they left it kind of ambiguous because, I mean,
- 40:47since since Vasilevsky has been activated from IR, he hasn't
- 40:50actually played a game yet. Yeah.
- 40:52And then John Cooper was like hoping he'd play.
- 40:54And they were like, oh, we just hope he plays before the
- 40:56Christmas break. So it's just kind of like he was
- 40:58activated from IR means like, OK, the injury is not long term
- 41:01anymore. By the time listening to this,
- 41:04maybe he already played one game.
- 41:05So hopefully there's no issues and there's no lingering
- 41:08anything with Vasilevsky. But I feel like they wouldn't
- 41:10risk anything with him, no? No chance.
- 41:12OK. Matt Zuccarello is injured
- 41:14again. Honestly, it's just like a lot
- 41:17of these guys who keep getting reinjured.
- 41:18It's just the older guys, right? That's just facts.
- 41:21Age comes for all of us. So definitely something to be
- 41:23said about, you know, sometimes avoiding the older guys, maybe
- 41:28less avoiding. But if you have the choice
- 41:29between 2 equal guys and ones younger, maybe go with the
- 41:31younger ones to avoid injuries. But I really like Zuccarello as
- 41:35an IR. She's only 18% owned.
- 41:37I think in any league where you have an IR spot available,
- 41:40mostly still be available. And I would absolutely go stab
- 41:42him with the Quinn Hughes trade. I think his value is going to go
- 41:45up a lot. In the meantime, Tarasenko's on
- 41:47line one Power Play 1, and I'm not really interested.
- 41:50And I know it's crazy because of that deployment, but I was gonna
- 41:53pick him up. But I decided to do a bit of a
- 41:55deep dive. And first of all, I don't think
- 41:56he has a lock on that spot. I think, you know, right now,
- 41:59Marcus Johansson also injured, If he comes back from injury, I
- 42:01could see him bumping Tarasenko. And then also, wild fans hate
- 42:05Tarasenko. They say he's been awful for
- 42:06them this year and all that made me feel like I don't want to
- 42:09pick him up. Since the two games of him being
- 42:11landed on Power Play 1, he hasn't done anything.
- 42:13So I'm feeling pretty good about my avoiding that pickup.
- 42:15We'll see how he does this following week though.
- 42:18As long as he's P1, I feel like he's going to look into at least
- 42:21a few points there given how how good that power play is.
- 42:25But this is a straight swap with Zuccarello comes back now.
- 42:27Listen it depends how much time Zuccarello is is missing.
- 42:30I saw zuccarello. Was skating on his own so I
- 42:32don't know what that means in terms of timeline, but probably
- 42:34around. The corner.
- 42:35So by the time you're listening to this, maybe he's already
- 42:37activated. And yeah, I mean, listen, is
- 42:41there a single a worth a stream for like a game or two with the
- 42:45exposure game? Week.
- 42:48Exactly, you could do worse. Rather than terrorist anchor
- 42:51like Evangelista, I'd probably lean Tarasenko just for the
- 42:54power play 1 exposure. I would take evangelist 6 of the
- 42:57shots but you know, probably more likely Harrison.
- 43:00They could. Both get two shots, but one on
- 43:02P1, so it's kind of yeah. I guess that's fair.
- 43:05OK. That's what we're talking about
- 43:06here. We're not.
- 43:07Yeah. Exactly.
- 43:08Alright, I think I've got a lot of let me do one more player 1
- 43:11and then it's just all goalies. So Bo Horvat is day-to-day with
- 43:14a lower body injury. Anthony declare taking a spot on
- 43:17power play one match. Barcelona also day-to-day but
- 43:20he's a game time decision so he should be back.
- 43:23This is all day-to-day stuff, so I'm not overreacting to any of
- 43:25it. To Claire, got two points, but
- 43:27it's the Islanders. If their best players aren't
- 43:29there, I'm not dying to pick up their replacements.
- 43:32No, and none of these injuries seem super long term either.
- 43:35So it's kind of like you gotta bite the bullet while they're
- 43:37out right now, but you know, they're back soon, so.
- 43:40Yeah, alright, let's do a quick. Barrage.
- 43:43Wait, we got one more player 1 we have.
- 43:46One more player, right? Thomas Harley returned from
- 43:48injury but is still power play too.
- 43:50Yeah, now we can. Now we can go through all the
- 43:52goals. Take calls alright Connor
- 43:54Hellebuyck returned early from entry and bumped Eric Comrie
- 43:57from the starting job. Comma kind of sucked.
- 43:59So this is not a Johansson situation where you're Thanks
- 44:01for the good work. I'll see you next time the guy
- 44:03gets injured. This is a you suck and you did
- 44:05not do what I wanted you to do while Hella Buck was out type
- 44:08the thing Helbock owners rejoice.
- 44:10Not much to say about that just makes the whole team better.
- 44:13Doctor Demko returned from injury and bumped Kevin Lincoln
- 44:16from the starting job. It's only a matter of time till
- 44:18he's back on IR. I don't know if that's
- 44:20deliverable, it feels inevitable but and also Vancouver sucks so
- 44:25I'm not dying to pick him up or anything like that.
- 44:28I. Put them going the same
- 44:29conversation as like a UC saros like it just we're at the point
- 44:31where the team is horrible. They should I take most of the
- 44:34stars Yeah it also takes arrows over them.
- 44:36Code Sarah doesn't have a LinkedIn problem and also
- 44:39honestly less injury prone like. I'm pretty, pretty low on them
- 44:43go like I'm thinking about some of the goodies that I would take
- 44:46over him you. Have fallen like yeah, like
- 44:48would you rather just Amco or Markstrom and Mark come on over
- 44:53head case I take. Markstrom but he's awful.
- 44:56Like, yeah, of course, Stuart. Skinner.
- 44:59Skinner for sure. Yeah.
- 45:01Well, you you want to hear a low one that I would take over
- 45:03Demko. I would take Danville Bar over
- 45:05Demko. I mean, I feel like I do the
- 45:08same, yeah. And that's just like crazy.
- 45:10Look, I I will probably take Jack grieves over them.
- 45:12Go Yeah. I would too like.
- 45:14Yeah, so that's what I'm saying. Like, I feel like his stock has
- 45:18fallen significantly. The injuries plus the team being
- 45:20awful just don't do him any favors, OK?
- 45:23Scott Wedgewood returned from entry and is back to splitting
- 45:25Starts with Blackwood. If you have what you're super
- 45:28happy. If you have Blackwood you're
- 45:29like damn less starts, but the stats are still gonna be
- 45:31quality. So not too worried about
- 45:33anything over there. I think at this point is pretty
- 45:35much a 5050, so we. We highlighted blocked as a
- 45:38potential cell high just because he's had the quality as well as
- 45:42the quantity. Well, which one has been out so
- 45:44but he's black with still fantastic goal.
- 45:48He's probably like top five, top seven rest of season.
- 45:52Yeah. So you know you're shooting
- 45:54high. So I'm not trying to get rid of
- 45:55him off my Ross, but you do have an opportunity to potentially
- 45:57get like a hell of a or a vessel loves you or something with his
- 46:01hand on the other hand. On the other hand, Blackwood
- 46:03could also be it all depends the the mindset of the managers
- 46:06right? He could also be a buy low if if
- 46:08people. Buy low on Blackwood with how
- 46:11he's performing on the ice. Not, not.
- 46:12Not Bill is the wrong word, but maybe like people see, OK, you
- 46:17take advantage of other people trying to sell high, if that
- 46:20makes sense, because sometimes when people sell high on a
- 46:22player, they start in their head thinking about getting worse
- 46:26than they are, like, if that makes sense.
- 46:28So like you see a guy being like kind of rushing to sell
- 46:31Blackwood to get value on since Westward returns, then maybe you
- 46:34can take advantage of that. And so it really depends on how
- 46:36the manager, how the managers, you know, treat.
- 46:38It's a very case by case basis, but there's definitely
- 46:40interesting stuff to be done there.
- 46:42Here's an interesting one. It's gonna be one of our hot
- 46:44topics, so we won't dive into it too much.
- 46:45But Jacob Colour got called up for the Habs.
- 46:47But here's another interesting thing that just happened today.
- 46:50I saw Timbo has been sent down to the NHL for conditioning
- 46:53stint. Guys the.
- 46:54Falloff creed to be studied like what is this is I mean.
- 46:58To be fair, he was a waiver pickup, right?
- 47:00Like he was supposed to be a nobody and then he had the
- 47:03opportunity to be the half starter because we had just all
- 47:05our main guys were injured and we didn't really have anyone in
- 47:07the pipeline. He excelled at it and like ran
- 47:10with it and now it just seems like I don't know way.
- 47:13Better than this that we saw last year, Yeah.
- 47:16In the last few years, he's single handedly like stopped us
- 47:18from getting top picks. Absolutely.
- 47:20No, he's been really, really good.
- 47:22It's just goalies are crazy, you know, like sometimes they can go
- 47:24on like a couple of years where the best goalie and then they
- 47:26become like Tristan Jarry, you know what I mean?
- 47:28Like. Boilers.
- 47:30Yeah, exactly. So now this is crazy.
- 47:32It's just crazy that like Montana was the one who got sent
- 47:35down and not Dobish like assuming.
- 47:38His confidence back, that's what it is.
- 47:40It's just, I don't know, I feel like sometimes like sending
- 47:43these guys down to the AHL. It's not like a slam dunk.
- 47:46They go to the like I remember Carrie Price had a one game in
- 47:49the NHL because like he was came in coming back from like a huge
- 47:51injury and he didn't have a great game.
- 47:53Like obviously doesn't matter, you know, doesn't still like the
- 47:55one of the best goalies of all time.
- 47:57But like it's not like a slam dunk that just because you're an
- 47:59NHL goalie, you're gonna kill it in the NHL.
- 48:01So we'll see. We'll see what happens with
- 48:04that. It's a very interesting
- 48:05situation. But more on that in our next
- 48:07episode. Fowler.
- 48:08Is the big question here though, Like what do we then?
- 48:09So are we just assuming he's the starter?
- 48:12We just assuming he's splitting reps with Dobesh like.
- 48:15I think we'll save that for our hot topic.
- 48:16So we're running long on this one.
- 48:18So, OK, we'll. Need to know about Jacob Fowler
- 48:21though there is OK. I'll give it a quick, quick
- 48:23blurb is I don't trust any of these three goalies to be the
- 48:26starter going forward. I think it's gonna be until
- 48:29someone runs away with it, it's just gonna go back and forth all
- 48:32around. Although if Fowler plays bad,
- 48:34he's going to get sent down for the rest of the year like.
- 48:37Just to follow since he's the youngest like they just brought
- 48:39him up. They want like save the
- 48:41situation. They also don't wanna ruin his
- 48:42development like he's the one they like.
- 48:43They have the least allegiance to him this year.
- 48:45They have the most allegiance stem long term, Absolutely.
- 48:47So he's the most likely to get sent down for the rest of the
- 48:51season. But if he can run with it, then
- 48:53it's also like haven't been that great lately and they started.
- 48:55Off the season, but. Yeah, so like, it's not like I'm
- 48:59dying to pick up any of these guys, but who knows?
- 49:03You can do worse. He had a good first game and
- 49:04then a bad second game. So, yeah, we'll see how he does.
- 49:06He's playing again tonight, so keep an eye out on that.
- 49:09Two more goalie news. Lucas Dostall returned from
- 49:11injury and bumped Ville Husso from the starter job.
- 49:13Not much to say there. It was always still Styles job
- 49:15when healthy. And then Darcy Kemper is injured
- 49:18and Anton Forsberg will be the starter while he's out.
- 49:21I have come from my team. That's why I'm so lost.
- 49:24But yeah, so I mean, this one just happens.
- 49:27I just tossed it on. It looks like a concussion.
- 49:29Probably. At least he got pulled by the
- 49:31concussion spotters. He got put on IR, which means
- 49:33he's at least missing the next week.
- 49:35We'll see what happens. I'm not dying to pick up Anton
- 49:37Forsberg. I don't know if you're following
- 49:39the Kings, but literally the only reason they're getting any
- 49:41points is because of temper. Like they're losing all their
- 49:44games, like 2-1 in like overtime, and it's only because
- 49:47of Kemper. So it's like one of those
- 49:48situations where you see like the Kings are actually a decent
- 49:51team. Like I should definitely pick up
- 49:52their backup. It's like, no, the only reason
- 49:53they're decent team is because their starter has been really
- 49:55good. So if you need a goalie who's
- 49:57getting starts, then yeah, you can grab Forsberg.
- 49:59But this isn't like a pickup that's going to save you or
- 50:01anything like that. This is.
- 50:03Like a I'm, I'm, I see it as the same situation as as Windhelm,
- 50:07but got injured and comrade. Exactly.
- 50:09So it's like, yeah, you pick up comedy because you need a hot
- 50:11body to fill up your thing. And they're on a team that's
- 50:13supposed to be good. And we got a hot body, you know
- 50:15what I mean? No, no, no, no shade at all.
- 50:22But you know, yeah. Oh, no.
- 50:25It's. The exact same situation.
- 50:26That's yeah, it's a great way to put it.
- 50:27It's gotta fill. Up your goalie spot but not
- 50:29this. Not gonna excel.
- 50:31You're more reaping the rewards of the team as opposed to his
- 50:33quality. Absolutely.
- 50:35All right, let's get to what everyone is waiting for, which
- 50:38is the would you rather is would.
- 50:40You rather. So today I'm going to try to
- 50:42split the difference between me and Josh, but that's very hard
- 50:45because usually Josh, we're always on the same side about
- 50:47everything. So Jackie will miss you.
- 50:52You know, it's always hard to split.
- 50:53The difference was definitely harder between me and you then
- 50:55between me and yeah, yeah. I feel with just the part of his
- 50:58players on, he's always gonna pick up.
- 51:00Alexi Produce or Connor McDavid easy split the.
- 51:04Difference yeah exactly, but for for those that are new here, if
- 51:08you're listening for the first time, we got 5 would you rathers
- 51:11we go through one of every position so centre left wing,
- 51:13right wing, defenseman, goalie. I tried to pick names that are
- 51:16kind of you know, in the conversation around the league
- 51:19right now so hot names that could maybe be more contextual
- 51:22for you guys and just try to see where we're drawing the line in
- 51:24the rankings. So and also hopefully causing
- 51:28some thought provoking, you know, insight and hopefully
- 51:32makes you guys. I have some makes you.
- 51:34Think yeah makes. You think of it, well, let's get
- 51:37right into it. We're talking goalies right off
- 51:39the bat. You gotta know I gotta throw at
- 51:41least one of them in here. So would you rather Tristan
- 51:45Jarry or Spencer Night rest of season?
- 51:48I feel like I was generous with this one.
- 51:50I'm going. Jerry I mean, I thought I know
- 51:53that night started off the season super hot, but he was a
- 51:56cell high from the second he started flying, spreading his
- 51:59wings and flying this year, you know, he's definitely gone
- 52:02downhill in the. Sell high for a long time from
- 52:05us telling you guys like he cannot keep this up guys I know
- 52:08it's been like 2 months but he cannot keep this up.
- 52:10Absolutely so he's definitely starting to dip where we expect
- 52:14more this Bidart injury definitely doesn't help.
- 52:17Obviously that's only for the next you know, month hopefully,
- 52:20but you never know and Jari just you know he's been solid on
- 52:24Pittsburgh. He's the undisputed starter on
- 52:26Edmonton. And look, I'm not saying Jerry's
- 52:28the savior or anything like that, but I would prefer him
- 52:31overnight. My.
- 52:32My other my other honorable mentions that we're going to be
- 52:35harder, but I didn't want to go too.
- 52:36Word was Bobrowski or Tristan Jari.
- 52:41I gotta go with Bob on that one. OK, Yeah, I think.
- 52:44What about Lucas the Stylo? That's a good one, actually.
- 52:48I like that a lot, and that's really important.
- 52:51With Jerry, Yeah, yeah. No, no.
- 52:53It's good. I think I'm going.
- 52:57It's tough because I think like Jerry has so much upside, but
- 53:00it's hard to forget that he was on waivers like a season ago.
- 53:03And it's not like Edmonton has good defence.
- 53:05You know, they're a good team. They're gonna get wins, but I
- 53:08think I'm going to stall. I the way I've see it is Dostal
- 53:11has a much safer floor and Jari has a much higher ceiling.
- 53:15I'm also going to style, but actually that's where you can,
- 53:19you know, because I feel like the whole season has been
- 53:21ductile and Spencer Night are kind of in the same
- 53:23conversation. You know, just like goalies are
- 53:25excelling on teams that are below average, let's say.
- 53:28Yeah, but Anaheim, we're looking at them and I just believe.
- 53:30In Anaheim, a lot more, yeah. So yeah, but Jari, I feel like
- 53:34he's in that conversation where he's like one of the the mid
- 53:37level starters. I feel like at this point until
- 53:39the wheels fall off and everybody laughs at them.
- 53:42But for the moment, you gotta you gotta be a little more
- 53:45optimistic. Yeah.
- 53:46All right. #2 We're talking left wingers, OK?
- 53:522. Guys that are on the same team
- 53:55for one of our fantasy teams, Seth Jarvis or Brandon Hagel,
- 54:00rest of season OHP. Jarvis for me.
- 54:02Easy is it? Just the power play deployment,
- 54:05even though Carolina just gets no power play points you.
- 54:07Know that I'm a power play slut, but yes I am.
- 54:11Also. The same.
- 54:13That's a big part of it, for sure.
- 54:15I just think everything Hagel's been doing is unsustainable.
- 54:18I think that. Hasn't been like a firing
- 54:21outfielders either. So yeah, I mean.
- 54:23Jarvis has been a bi lo and Hagel has been a cell high way.
- 54:26Like the way I see things shaking out is Hagel gets one
- 54:30point per game, maybe 1.1 over the like over the course of the
- 54:34season with pretty much 0 power play points, and then Jarvis
- 54:38gets also 1 to 1.1 but with power play points.
- 54:42So let's say similar points PowerPoint that goes to Jarvis,
- 54:46then Jarvis, how many more? Do you know how many PowerPoints
- 54:50Jarvis has this season? I.
- 54:52Know I know, Carolina is an off. You know how to play.
- 54:53How many power play points he has on the season?
- 54:58OK, well, I feel like anything ridiculously 11, Yeah, 10. 10 I
- 55:07got. Five try.
- 55:09Again. Three.
- 55:11Try again. One he's got. 2 He's got 2 power
- 55:18play points on the season. Guess how many short handed
- 55:20points he has on the season? 2 Yes.
- 55:24Isn't that crazy? What do you think about
- 55:25actually? Yeah, that's nuts for someone
- 55:27who's a lock on power play 1 to have that few PowerPoints.
- 55:29But Caroline has an awful power play.
- 55:30So OK, that's what I'm saying. Like he, like he still, I still
- 55:34have, he has the edge because he's on there, you know, as
- 55:36opposed to the eagle. Has four power play points, you
- 55:38know. I know, which is nuts.
- 55:41I'm still giving Jarvis the edge on power play points, but maybe
- 55:43it's not as big of a difference. And then Jarvis has.
- 55:46I think Jarvis has the hits advantage over Hagel and then
- 55:50the shots are. Definitely close, the shots are
- 55:52close, but he's got more chances.
- 55:54Hard drive says the triple eligibility um, but that's
- 55:57getting more into the weeds. They both have good the same
- 55:59place, but they're. Both left wing, right wing
- 56:00eligible, yeah. Look, honestly, you know, at
- 56:04first to me was a slam dunk, but actually it's a lot closer than
- 56:06I think. I'm still leaning Jarvis.
- 56:08I just think that like, he only has up to go from here and Hagel
- 56:11only has to go down from here. So even though it's super
- 56:13similar right now, by the end of the season it won't be as
- 56:16similar. The the Carolina power play
- 56:19needs to be studied by like professionals, first of all.
- 56:21But I'm with you. I'm on the Jarvis.
- 56:23I'm not. Currently running it Yes please
- 56:27but. Yeah, no, obviously I'm also on
- 56:29the drivers side. I just feel like the deployment
- 56:31is, you know, is like he has two power up on the season, but he's
- 56:35never been on P2. So it's kind of just like, you
- 56:37know, what do we what are we doing here?
- 56:39Like there's better days ahead. Obviously, even if they're not
- 56:41going to be one of the best power plays in the league.
- 56:44Yeah, Hagel is still a massive sell high.
- 56:46Like I said, I think he's he's my favorite entry point into
- 56:48like top three level kind of player because he's playing at a
- 56:53very high level. Has a little bit of name pull,
- 56:55but he's been slowing down. We've been talking about him
- 56:58being a cell high for a long time.
- 56:59So hopefully you guys are trying to do that.
- 57:01Hopefully it's done already. Hopefully.
- 57:03It's done already. Alright, what's next?
- 57:05Talking defenseman? We're going with some high
- 57:07rollers here. I'm trying to find the line
- 57:10between Evan Bouchard and Jake Sanderson rest of season.
- 57:14Wow. That's a really good one.
- 57:16That's right. We're.
- 57:16Talking banger categories, leagues, the best kind of
- 57:18leagues, guys. So that's why I'm talking, you
- 57:20know, you gotta take into account shots, hits, blocks,
- 57:23Yeah. Power play, OK.
- 57:25So in terms of back hats, Bouchard has the shots and
- 57:28Sanderson has the edge of blocks and then neither of them hits.
- 57:31So that's right off the bat then power play is actually similar.
- 57:36You'd think that Edmonton is like so much far and far and
- 57:39above, like beyond whatever, but it's actually Ottawa has an
- 57:42unreal power play as well. So I'll just say that's a wash.
- 57:45And then points wise, I think I still gotta give an edge to
- 57:47Bouchard. So at the end of the day, it's
- 57:50very similar. And I know you're gonna want me
- 57:52to say, you want me to say that Sanderson is a better playoff
- 57:54schedule. And so you gotta go.
- 57:56And you know what? I don't hate that.
- 57:58I think you can get Sanderson plus a small plus in a trade or
- 58:02even a big plus because of the name value.
- 58:04And I think you should do that. So I'm actually going Sanderson.
- 58:07I think Bouchard is always like for some reason, no matter where
- 58:10you draft him, when people talk about Bushard, he's like he's a
- 58:12top three defenseman. He's always he's a top three
- 58:14defenseman. Like you don't do the math on
- 58:16like who's who's there with him? It's like it's always Macar
- 58:18could use Werenski. That's already three guys and
- 58:20we're always Bouchards top three defensemen.
- 58:23So yeah, I definitely think that him and Sanderson are, are very
- 58:27similar in terms of, you know, fantasy value.
- 58:31But you always have to think about when you have a guy like
- 58:34this on your roster come playoff time, who are you going to want
- 58:37to have on your team? Is it the guy with three games
- 58:39or is the guy with four games if they're in a similar tier?
- 58:42If you're a team that, you know you're gonna make the playoffs,
- 58:44you know, playing a competitive league, these are type of
- 58:46decisions you have to make throughout the season that can
- 58:48actually influence, you know, how likely you are to win the
- 58:50championship. And it might not be pretty right
- 58:52now. It might be splitting feathers
- 58:53or whatever, but these are decisions that can win you a
- 58:57championship. So I think if you have Bush, you
- 58:59could potentially get Sanders in.
- 59:01Plus I have Sanderson. I feel like it's hard to get
- 59:04busted if you have Sanderson because he was drafted ahead of
- 59:07him. They're playing the same.
- 59:08So it feels like you need somebody playing better to kind
- 59:10of get it. Yeah, but if I have should much
- 59:13rather make a trade for Sanderson and maybe make it 2
- 59:16for two and make it seem like you're getting a double upgrade.
- 59:18So I. Love it.
- 59:20But that was a tough one, I feel like.
- 59:22Are you confident that the, you know, Ottawa PowerPoint may be
- 59:25better than the other power play rest of the season?
- 59:27It's definitely close. I really.
- 59:29Like the auto power play, I mean, that's why I mentioned.
- 59:31So I think it was last week or two weeks ago as my bi lo
- 59:34because the power play wasn't clicking and we know that they
- 59:38should be like a .4 power play points per game type of power
- 59:41play. So yeah, I have no doubt in my
- 59:43mind. Look, the Edmonton power play
- 59:44unreal as well, but but Ottawa are right up there with them.
- 59:48Or this next one might be spicy. It's a it's a little bit of a
- 59:52reality check because if you, if you guys have listened to
- 59:56previous, you know, news and updates and would rather
- 59:57episodes. I don't like repeating names.
- 1:00:00I like making, I like putting fresh blood into the
- 1:00:03conversation. But at some point actually.
- 1:00:04That's a good point. I mean I.
- 1:00:06I'm not trying to use the same players over and over.
- 1:00:07So unless it's been a while in the situation has changed.
- 1:00:09But this one I'm kind of making an exception because I feel like
- 1:00:12I've talked about this player either it was 2 episodes ago or
- 1:00:14maybe 3 episodes ago. OK, but the line is changing.
- 1:00:18I feel like we're updating our our information, but would you
- 1:00:22rather Mitch Marner or Kirill Marchenko rest of season?
- 1:00:26The last time I brought this up, it was Tage Thompson and
- 1:00:30everybody went Tage. So I feel like I'm lowering the
- 1:00:32bar a little bit and seeing where where's the pulse at?
- 1:00:36I think I gotta go Mariners still, Um, and I'd gone to each
- 1:00:40so like, yeah, not still, but I gotta go Marner on this one.
- 1:00:43If Marchenko was popping off like he was last year, hmm, then
- 1:00:48I'd be a lot more, a lot more difficult.
- 1:00:51The fact is that he's kind of a bi lo right now.
- 1:00:53So even though Martin's underperforming, so is
- 1:00:56Marchenko. And when two guys are
- 1:00:57underperforming, I'll go with the guy who has the higher
- 1:00:59ceiling, obviously. Just had a 3.9 yeah.
- 1:01:03You also. Just like lifting eligibility.
- 1:01:05He's left wing, right wing now, so.
- 1:01:07OK, that's that's very nice. Yeah, now I gotta go Mariner.
- 1:01:10It's just too big of a gap, and I know that matters.
- 1:01:13It sucks because when he doesn't put up points, he's literally
- 1:01:15like straight zeros, whereas Marchenko is like a shooting
- 1:01:17beast. But Vegas should be one of the
- 1:01:20top power plays and Columbus is honestly kind of a a bleep show
- 1:01:23right now. So I do like Marchenko as a
- 1:01:26Bilo. I still really like him, but I
- 1:01:27think Martin's too high on the. Season Mariners at 1.03,
- 1:01:31Marching was at 0.93. So Mariners actually has the
- 1:01:35edge on points over the season on average, but Marchenko has
- 1:01:38more power play points 0.36, Mars has 0.23 and the shot smart
- 1:01:43check almost double s him. It's like 1.7 to like 3.2.
- 1:01:47So the shots are obviously like a big question is just are we,
- 1:01:50do we expect the gap in points to be wider than it currently
- 1:01:54is? And do we expect the PowerPoint
- 1:01:56to be more even thanks to the power play?
- 1:01:59To be more even, I guess one kind of I guess pro and
- 1:02:02Marchenko fever for the power play because like there's no
- 1:02:04doubt in my mind that Vegas power plays way better than
- 1:02:06Columbus power play. But we love to talk about
- 1:02:09talismanic and you know, Marchenko will be involved in
- 1:02:13pretty much every single power play point that Columbus gets,
- 1:02:16which is why you see such a high average for him.
- 1:02:18Or as Vegas power play is so good that like all five players
- 1:02:22could get involved on any one of the points, which means more to
- 1:02:25spread more welcome to spread around.
- 1:02:27So less for anyone. So I'm still going Marner, but
- 1:02:29that is an argument for why the power play points might might
- 1:02:32play out like this. Yep.
- 1:02:34Definitely this definitely is a more of a slam dunk in a points
- 1:02:37league, but in a bangers league like those, those extra shots
- 1:02:40are like very valuable for the for the dipping, the dipping
- 1:02:43points when the gap it could be larger, it could be smaller.
- 1:02:46So yeah, absolutely. Alright, last one.
- 1:02:50We're talking centres here. This is the one that Josh sniped
- 1:02:54before recorded the podcast. But would you rather John
- 1:02:57Tavares, who's a major by low right now?
- 1:03:00We highlighted this on the recent Buy Low, Sell High
- 1:03:02episode, So go listen to that. Or the new hotness, Joel
- 1:03:06Erickson Eck, who is now playing with King Quinn Hughes.
- 1:03:10Yeah. I mean, I not to be the type of
- 1:03:14guy to just buy into the hype, but I gotta go with Eric snack
- 1:03:16here. The way I see it back, cats
- 1:03:18wise, they're almost an identical player.
- 1:03:19They're both unreal for for shots, face off wins, hits.
- 1:03:23So I'm not going to give either one of them the edge on that.
- 1:03:26And then it just comes down to points and power play points.
- 1:03:29No doubt in my mind Minnesota, like Ericsson is getting more
- 1:03:32power play points than Tavarus. Look, I think we all think that
- 1:03:35Toronto is going to improve their power play and I fully
- 1:03:37agree with that. But Minnesota's power play
- 1:03:40already one of the top in the league.
- 1:03:41You add Quinn Hughes, I don't see any way where it doesn't end
- 1:03:44top seven in the league and I don't think Toronto sniffing
- 1:03:47that. So power play points.
- 1:03:48I give the edge Derrickson ex currently playing line one with
- 1:03:51capris off and Boldy. I don't think that's gonna last,
- 1:03:54but I think it's going to flip back and forth throughout the
- 1:03:56season or as far as is never going to be line 1 because
- 1:03:59Matthews is line 1. So I think Eric Snack has will
- 1:04:04have better deployment for half the season when he's on line one
- 1:04:07on those who put in. Line on the Ross, Sir.
- 1:04:10So now you're off there. Like, I mean, he's, I don't
- 1:04:13think he's. Holding down the spot though, I
- 1:04:15don't think. Either of them are, I think the
- 1:04:17reason they're doing this right now is they're just loading up
- 1:04:19the first line. But when Marcus Johansson and
- 1:04:21Matt Zuccarello come back, they're going to be able to have
- 1:04:24two good lines. And I could see Erickson neck
- 1:04:26being on line 2 with let's say they split up bolting Kaprizov
- 1:04:30and they go Erickson act Boldy and Johnson and then they go
- 1:04:32you're of Kaprizov and and Zuccarello.
- 1:04:36So like I think that it's not it's not on lock, but the fact
- 1:04:39is he actually has a shot at having line 1 forest fires never
- 1:04:42will get it. So for all those reasons, I'm
- 1:04:43going Ericsson Ek. No it's crazy because Taurus is
- 1:04:46like almost always a point per game player even though he's
- 1:04:49never lined one anymore because obviously Austin Matthews is
- 1:04:52there but the power play usually is better and it helps like
- 1:04:55right now is a point 9.97 points per game on the season with .12
- 1:05:01power play points. Eric next .7 on the season of
- 1:05:04points .2 power play points. So like he has more power play
- 1:05:06points with less points healing. So it just goes to show like.
- 1:05:09Tavarius was still had such a good season with how bad he's
- 1:05:12been the last like a few weeks and if you.
- 1:05:14Look at the last few weeks, he's been abysmal.
- 1:05:16So that's why I'm kind of like, I feel like the points gap could
- 1:05:17be like realistically I'm expecting tomorrow to be better
- 1:05:21than .12 right now for Taveras. Like he could get to a point
- 1:05:252.25. Yeah, I feel that's very
- 1:05:27reasonable. I don't see Ericsson egg getting
- 1:05:29to the .4 as I can see him getting like .3.
- 1:05:32Yeah, but then how much is the points gap?
- 1:05:34Difference between the points is terrace point per game player
- 1:05:37and Eric's next .8 point 7.75. It's honestly close given the
- 1:05:43back cats are also the same. They both have the same playoff
- 1:05:46schedule, so it's at least fair to compare that they both have
- 1:05:49about 333. Um, I'm still like you.
- 1:05:53You almost playoff. Schedule to to Toronto though,
- 1:05:55because they have off nights. That's well, you know, but we
- 1:05:57also talk about. Doesn't move the needle so much
- 1:06:00for me. In your shallower leagues.
- 1:06:01It is tiny. Yeah, but.
- 1:06:04But yeah, like you almost had me honestly convinced me to go
- 1:06:07next. I'm just like about the
- 1:06:08situation as well. It's just fun to be exposed as
- 1:06:11well. Toronto feels like everyday like
- 1:06:12more bad news happens but my gut is still tomato virus.
- 1:06:17I think that's the that's the best one.
- 1:06:18No, I mean, these are all great ones, but this was that was the
- 1:06:21best one. I think I see your point of view
- 1:06:23as well. So that's a super, super
- 1:06:25interesting one. But all right, so that's gonna
- 1:06:28wrap it up for our Week 11 news and updates.

- 1:07:07Yep, so you can. Put the What your Father says
- 1:07:10polls and see what people think there I.
- 1:07:12Usually put one of the choices like the one that was the
- 1:07:17hottest debate, put them there and see who picks what.
- 1:07:20But but I, I honestly like people comment on Spotify and I
- 1:07:24and I love to answer them, but I've never commented on Spotify.
- 1:07:27That's fair. That's podcast before.
- 1:07:29I just feel like I didn't even realize it was a thing until we

- 1:07:35people like comment on and stuff and it's really cool.
