- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists.
- 0:07Speaker 1: In this episode, we gathered four actors who all have
- 0:10Speaker 1: played a waiter with one line.
- 0:13Speaker 2: The art of the one line waiter role is something
- 0:17Speaker 2: that few actors but many try to master.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Whether you're a famous, famous, famous actor or somebody just
- 0:25Speaker 3: starting out, the trick behind the one line can make
- 0:30Speaker 3: some people very nervous, so it takes an absolute pro
- 0:34Speaker 3: to get through it.
- 0:36Speaker 4: It's time to see how you can go far as
- 0:38Speaker 4: a co star. Let's listen in. Oh, hey y'all to
- 0:43Speaker 4: see y'all.
- 0:44Speaker 5: Hey guys, Hey, Hi, how's it going guys?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Wow?
- 0:48Speaker 6: Wow, this is really nice to meet with people talking
- 0:51Speaker 6: sharp rate.
- 0:54Speaker 4: None of us probably have acted together before.
- 0:58Speaker 7: No, I don't say we have.
- 1:00Speaker 8: I haven't had the pleasure.
- 1:01Speaker 6: Now we're getting the roles that uh the other people
- 1:04Speaker 6: are probably competing for.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Ye yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I bet we've gone
- 1:10Speaker 1: out for a couple of the same.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Parts for sure, for sure.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Absolutely absolutely.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Well.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I'm so excited and honored to share this space with
- 1:21Speaker 2: you guys today. It's so inspiring to be amongst, you know,
- 1:26Speaker 2: a group of like minded artists who want to talk
- 1:29Speaker 2: about the craft. And you know, we could talk about
- 1:32Speaker 2: the craft of acting multiple lines, acting as a guest
- 1:36Speaker 2: star or a lead all day, but we really want
- 1:39Speaker 2: to talk about our craft, our chosen craft. And I
- 1:43Speaker 2: wouldn't choose. I wouldn't choose anything else. You know, one
- 1:47Speaker 2: line is the most powerful thing you could do.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yes, exactly, That's exactly how I feel about it. I
- 1:54Speaker 3: think there's so it's there's it's so misunderstood, it's so deeply,
- 1:59Speaker 3: deeply yes, misunderstood, And it's an art form in itself,
- 2:03Speaker 3: you know, booking that coast star. If people don't know
- 2:05Speaker 3: what a costar is, it's the people that you see
- 2:07Speaker 3: in film or TV that have under five lines and
- 2:12Speaker 3: play no importance to the overall story.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I read once that good design is invisible, right, And
- 2:20Speaker 1: I think a good co star isn't invisible, I'd say,
- 2:23Speaker 1: but I'd say is barely there so that Leo DiCaprio
- 2:29Speaker 1: can be there, you know what I mean.
- 2:30Speaker 7: And there is an art to that. There's an art
- 2:33Speaker 7: to negative space.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I'd compare what we do to sort of like a
- 2:38Speaker 2: doula of sorts. You know, we are delivering the baby
- 2:44Speaker 2: so that Leo DiCaprio can enjoy his baby, his work.
- 2:48Speaker 7: Absolutely.
- 2:50Speaker 6: Absolutely, we're living furniture, you know what I mean in
- 2:53Speaker 6: so many words.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Yeah, we're furniture that can talk.
- 2:56Speaker 6: We're furniture that can tell you what something sounds like,
- 2:58Speaker 6: how people in the environment act or feel, and we're
- 3:02Speaker 6: we're good at telling you if the main character is crazy,
- 3:07Speaker 6: just the main character is like, the main character is disliked,
- 3:10Speaker 6: and most importantly in this specifically the waiter rolls.
- 3:13Speaker 4: If the main character is nice to staff of different sorts.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Oh god, and that'll tell you everything about their character
- 3:21Speaker 1: arc is how this person orders a cup of coffee
- 3:23Speaker 1: and how they are responded to by the staff.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I would love to get your guys's name so I
- 3:29Speaker 3: can write it down maybe as you guys to my
- 3:31Speaker 3: IMDb contacts, So go ahead.
- 3:35Speaker 7: They're making it like LinkedIn now.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Yeah, let's all get together after the end of this
- 3:39Speaker 6: and look at each other's pages, because because when we
- 3:41Speaker 6: look at each other's pages, it'll raise the star reader.
- 3:43Speaker 6: Oh yeah, so it'll be really helpful if we can
- 3:45Speaker 6: all just get together and look at each other's pages
- 3:47Speaker 6: and help each.
- 3:48Speaker 7: Other out jeopardy at night.
- 3:50Speaker 5: I just hit it, yeah, just go hand it.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Refresh, Refresh, refresh.
- 3:54Speaker 4: That's nice man.
- 3:56Speaker 3: So my name is Cole Hendrix, UH and I am
- 4:00Speaker 3: an actor.
- 4:00Speaker 5: You may know me from a couple of sitcoms.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I play waiter one in UH Community. I play a
- 4:11Speaker 3: dentist three in Gray's Anatomy, and I have a huge Yes,
- 4:18Speaker 3: that one was a big one for us because Gray's Anatomy.
- 4:20Speaker 3: If you don't know it, you can like kind of
- 4:22Speaker 3: raise the ranks. I didn't, but it was still an
- 4:25Speaker 3: honor to be there. It was an honor to be there.
- 4:27Speaker 3: And I've also played boy in Movie Theater in the
- 4:32Speaker 3: reboot of Will and Grace, So yeah, it was great, awesome.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Well, my name is a Chance mulroney.
- 4:41Speaker 5: This guy's got to be a local higher. You're a
- 4:43Speaker 5: local higher, local.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Higher, Applequerque.
- 4:47Speaker 5: I knew it smell.
- 4:52Speaker 6: I'm the guy that they go to a lot of
- 4:53Speaker 6: the time. You know, you can see me in Justified,
- 4:56Speaker 6: you can see me in Breaking Bad. You know, if
- 4:57Speaker 6: there's one line where somebody is doing something crazy, I'm
- 5:02Speaker 6: usually the guy that comes in and says, what was that?
- 5:06Speaker 6: You know, all sorts of different places. I kind of
- 5:09Speaker 6: got a different look. I'm a bit of a cowboy.
- 5:11Speaker 6: I got into this a little bit later in life,
- 5:13Speaker 6: but I got into it hard, and so people like me.
- 5:16Speaker 4: People like me, and I like that. I like that
- 5:19Speaker 4: a lot. And it's really fun.
- 5:20Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 5:21Speaker 6: I work with the Coen Brothers. I worked with Paul
- 5:23Speaker 6: Thomas Anderson. I worked with Greta Gerwig on a new movie.
- 5:26Speaker 6: And it's been really fun. It's been really fun. And
- 5:29Speaker 6: I'm the guy that comes in and I get to
- 5:30Speaker 6: say the thing and I get to get out.
- 5:32Speaker 4: And it's fun and it's fun.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Oh, which one of us?
- 5:40Speaker 7: You can go this lady?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, my name is Anna Lisa Whitford. But I
- 5:48Speaker 2: do go buy my stage name, Anna Whitford because I
- 5:53Speaker 2: believe it's it's catchy er, it's to the point.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Yeah, it definitely is. Yeah, definitely is.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more memorable, i'd say, Anna, Anna, I'm so
- 6:03Speaker 2: honored to be with you all today. Of course, telling
- 6:06Speaker 2: human stories, telling human stories, telling human stories, this world.
- 6:09Speaker 8: We're all why why we're here.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Some of my credits include I have a co star
- 6:18Speaker 2: on Mike and.
- 6:19Speaker 7: Molly A Good Show.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I was, yes, I was a neighbor and I said,
- 6:25Speaker 2: here is your male.
- 6:28Speaker 5: So like a waiter, but a neighbor waiter exactly.
- 6:32Speaker 2: There are many types of waiters, and I would say
- 6:34Speaker 2: that in that moment, I was a waiter for the male.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 6:39Speaker 6: I like to think of of of male man as
- 6:41Speaker 6: waiters for male I have to think of airplanes as
- 6:44Speaker 6: waiters for people.
- 6:45Speaker 8: Yes, a doctor is won for medicine.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I's a stewardess waiter for this guy.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 6:53Speaker 5: There's tons of different ways to look at a waiter.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Zoo keeper, waiter for animals.
- 6:57Speaker 7: Wow, hello guy.
- 7:00Speaker 1: My name is Franco Boonie. I am been in the
- 7:05Speaker 1: business a long time. I most recently I played a
- 7:10Speaker 1: diner waitress in Inception.
- 7:14Speaker 7: I asked Leo DiCaprio if he wanted his top off.
- 7:19Speaker 7: I do a lot of diner waitresses.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Did that seem get cut? Or is that in the
- 7:23Speaker 5: I remember it now?
- 7:24Speaker 3: It's right when the city starts turning upside down a
- 7:28Speaker 3: waiter waitress.
- 7:29Speaker 1: He runs inside to hide, and I asked, do you
- 7:33Speaker 1: want to top off?
- 7:35Speaker 3: And that comedy one of the few moments of exception
- 7:38Speaker 3: that's played for comedy.
- 7:39Speaker 7: I was blessed. I'm blessed.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I ain't funny when they're funny I love it. I
- 7:44Speaker 4: love it when you get a funny line.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I love it anyway. I but I originally started in
- 7:50Speaker 1: this industry. I had a one line waitress part.
- 7:54Speaker 5: And the Godfather, Wow, what was your line?
- 7:57Speaker 7: I said, uh, lasagna here or to go? It got cut.
- 8:03Speaker 7: But that's what put me.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I love playing a waitress. I have a full wardrobe
- 8:09Speaker 1: of waitress gear and outfits. I have the diner gear.
- 8:13Speaker 7: I have it all, and I can do it all.
- 8:15Speaker 2: How many waiter headshots do you have, honey, I have
- 8:19Speaker 2: one for.
- 8:19Speaker 8: See different types of waiter looks.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yes, I don't do the black tigh waitresses. I'm too slippery.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I sometimes I don't know if you guys. Sometimes I
- 8:31Speaker 1: was asked the first black tie waitress.
- 8:32Speaker 7: It was a steakhouse.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I think in Missus doubtfire when she's running between the restaurants.
- 8:37Speaker 7: I was playing the role and I had to hold a.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Tray and that was the first time I ever had
- 8:42Speaker 1: to hold a real tray in this prop department. Put
- 8:44Speaker 1: a whole thing of glasses of wineglasses on that tray,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and boy was I a slippery girl.
- 8:51Speaker 7: And that's the last time I played for black tie restaurants.
- 8:54Speaker 1: But now I do mostly the woman behind the diner counter.
- 8:58Speaker 1: You could see me in Riverdale season one. The kids, Hey,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I'm in the diner. And so that's what we call
- 9:07Speaker 1: uh reoccurring background acting where I do that a lot.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Where I am they want to show the town, right,
- 9:14Speaker 1: they want to show there's a couple of people that
- 9:16Speaker 1: have done this on friends that are always in Central Park.
- 9:20Speaker 1: They made a pretty penny me on the other hand. Now,
- 9:23Speaker 1: but so I'm I'm in all the episodes of Riverdale
- 9:26Speaker 1: when they go to the diner, you'll see me.
- 9:29Speaker 6: I hate to go back on this because you just
- 9:31Speaker 6: said something that was so interesting to me, and I
- 9:34Speaker 6: was curious if when you worked on The Godfather. I
- 9:36Speaker 6: love to hear the stories because it's so interesting to me.
- 9:40Speaker 6: And I don't know if Francis Ford Coppola told you
- 9:41Speaker 6: about this, the idea that you'd go up to a
- 9:44Speaker 6: mobster in an Italian restaurant and ask if they wanted
- 9:47Speaker 6: their lasagna to go.
- 9:48Speaker 7: Well, the the lion got cut.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I didn't need to get to set, honey.
- 9:53Speaker 2: You know, it was just a theoretical booking.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Your Candon is a booking. Your Canada has a booking
- 9:59Speaker 4: which you didn't get just.
- 10:00Speaker 7: It started my career. And that's what I said.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I I found my my my actress as a waitress.
- 10:05Speaker 7: You know, I really found that.
- 10:06Speaker 5: What part did they cut it at Believe it or not?
- 10:09Speaker 1: The new show, the New Peacock Show, the Offer, there's
- 10:14Speaker 1: a little scene where they talk about cutting my scene.
- 10:18Speaker 7: No, it's just theoretical.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It's theoretical, did they Okay? So it's in the final
- 10:24Speaker 2: cut of the offer though, that we can watch on
- 10:26Speaker 2: Peacock or is that also on Peacock?
- 10:29Speaker 1: In the offer you hear one of the actors who's
- 10:32Speaker 1: playing the rider, go, let's cut that part when she
- 10:35Speaker 1: asks for his lasagna to go.
- 10:37Speaker 7: It doesn't make sense.
- 10:39Speaker 5: That is me.
- 10:40Speaker 4: They're talking watching it.
- 10:43Speaker 2: God, we'll make sure that star meter goes up as well.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Don't do that after I would really love that.
- 10:52Speaker 4: That would be awesome.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Can we talk a little bit of technique right now?
- 10:56Speaker 6: Oh?
- 10:56Speaker 5: Absolutely, because I'm so interested.
- 11:00Speaker 3: My version of art is trying to get inwards, trying
- 11:03Speaker 3: to figure this out grassss, the brain, the neurons, the process,
- 11:07Speaker 3: the journey, and I'm just always living and thriving to
- 11:11Speaker 3: learn more about my fellow actors. You know, I want
- 11:15Speaker 3: to know what makes you tick and like how you
- 11:17Speaker 3: guys approach So maybe a good example, I can throw
- 11:20Speaker 3: you guys a line and you guys walk me through
- 11:22Speaker 3: the process.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Does that sound groovy? Does that sound good?
- 11:26Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 11:27Speaker 8: I'm head over heels.
- 11:28Speaker 7: I love games.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Okay, great, So the line is, let's just say you're
- 11:33Speaker 3: it's Breaking Bad and you go, here's your stake?
- 11:40Speaker 7: Is this the line you add?
- 11:42Speaker 5: Yes, I was in Breaking Bad.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Wasn't a local higher They flew me in and my
- 11:47Speaker 3: my line was, here's your stake? So I would love
- 11:50Speaker 3: to see how you guys approach it, and uh and
- 11:52Speaker 3: and take that on and then I'll and then I'll
- 11:55Speaker 3: show you up mine.
- 11:55Speaker 2: At the end of wow, I feel like i'm you know,
- 11:58Speaker 2: I'm I'm imitating to the person who performed the art.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, and that's a lot of pressure. Well no, no, no,
- 12:05Speaker 5: it's not a lot of pressure. It's not it's not
- 12:06Speaker 5: a lot of pressure at all.
- 12:07Speaker 7: Okay, because it's.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Your process and every artist is different and every person
- 12:11Speaker 3: is different, so whatever you bring to it is going
- 12:13Speaker 3: to be right.
- 12:14Speaker 5: So why don't you give it a try?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Well, okay, I mean my first thought is, you know,
- 12:19Speaker 2: here's your steak, here's your steak. Okay, well that wasn't read.
- 12:25Speaker 5: You start, you didn't like?
- 12:28Speaker 8: Okay, you can't note the process.
- 12:31Speaker 6: Can we sink some sort of code word that we
- 12:33Speaker 6: say the process, we're doing the process, and then when
- 12:35Speaker 6: we we we start doing the performance, we say the new.
- 12:39Speaker 7: Word about it?
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yes, okay, okay, okay, Well I'll say cut when I'm
- 12:46Speaker 2: doing the process and action when I'm doing the actual performance.
- 12:50Speaker 7: Follow, I follow it.
- 12:51Speaker 4: That's a language we can all understand.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Okay, so cut when I get the line, here's my stake,
- 12:58Speaker 2: here's your stake.
- 12:59Speaker 8: Sorry, so nervous.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I think to myself, you know, what has this person
- 13:03Speaker 2: been through before she delivers the steak?
- 13:05Speaker 8: Why did she not say, here is your steak, sir?
- 13:10Speaker 2: That means that she's not at a black tie establishment, right,
- 13:13Speaker 2: She's not someone who has to defer to her customers
- 13:15Speaker 2: in that way. But here's your steak, no frills, no
- 13:20Speaker 2: additional parts. That means that you are and that was
- 13:24Speaker 2: a cut, by the way, that was not a read.
- 13:26Speaker 2: That means that you're someone who's no bullshit.
- 13:28Speaker 8: Right.
- 13:29Speaker 2: You have a daughter of yeah, seed her? And when's
- 13:33Speaker 2: your shift ending? I think it's ending? In thirty minutes.
- 13:36Speaker 2: So with all that in mind, action, here's your steak.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Wow.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And if I could add a little improv on that,
- 13:45Speaker 2: it'd be here's your steak?
- 13:47Speaker 5: Now?
- 13:48Speaker 8: Why did you think about that for a second?
- 13:51Speaker 4: Wow?
- 13:51Speaker 8: And cut?
- 13:52Speaker 4: I have chills down my whole body. That was awesome,
- 13:56Speaker 4: do you guys ever?
- 13:56Speaker 3: Well know it was definitely better than your first read,
- 13:59Speaker 3: definitely better.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Than Again, I feel like I have to he specify
- 14:03Speaker 2: that was not a read.
- 14:04Speaker 7: Are you in acting classes? I loved watching you break
- 14:06Speaker 7: that down, thank you.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Yes, I am in acting classes with my mother. My
- 14:12Speaker 2: mother goes to Leslie Khan and then she reports.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Back to me that's grat a second hand class, because
- 14:20Speaker 1: she says, listen, we both want to be actors.
- 14:22Speaker 2: We both we can't afford to have both of us
- 14:25Speaker 2: go to Leslie Khan. So I'm going to take the
- 14:27Speaker 2: information kind of like what happened with Santoslovsky.
- 14:30Speaker 8: You know, you have these.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Students and then he brings it, did they start their
- 14:32Speaker 2: own schools? That's sort of what my mom is doing.
- 14:35Speaker 7: With all the modern technology.
- 14:36Speaker 1: She should just put a GoPro on her and you
- 14:38Speaker 1: should watch it live.
- 14:39Speaker 3: And in fact, Leslie Kan would never be that she
- 14:44Speaker 3: has well, she wanted to give me a full virtual experience,
- 14:48Speaker 3: and so I do watch it, but through my mother's eyes.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Sometimes my mom, you know, she goes to the bathroom
- 14:52Speaker 2: and she has to be like, don't watch.
- 14:54Speaker 6: Hold on tick, I think ashten. Wasn't there of hour
- 14:57Speaker 6: video that was acting? Teacher roasts student for wearing go
- 15:01Speaker 6: pro on a hand actual go pro.
- 15:03Speaker 4: I saw that.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I saw that, and I will say, once I saw
- 15:07Speaker 3: the studio, I knew it was Leslie Khan, and then
- 15:10Speaker 3: I saw Leslie Conn and.
- 15:11Speaker 5: I knew it was Leslie.
- 15:12Speaker 2: That's when you knew it was Leslie.
- 15:15Speaker 7: Your mother put the go pro on her hat.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Yes, and after that she did have to start That
- 15:20Speaker 2: was what we call the hat classes, where she had
- 15:23Speaker 2: to wear a hat over the go pro and so
- 15:25Speaker 2: I could only hear the audio. Yeah yeah, but after
- 15:29Speaker 2: a while, would she let her guard down? After a while,
- 15:33Speaker 2: and so we were able to get away with a
- 15:35Speaker 2: hat with a little hole in it so that the
- 15:38Speaker 2: go pro could see her.
- 15:39Speaker 1: No.
- 15:39Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a classic acting technique.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Teacher put her put her wall dock, put her garden dancy,
- 15:44Speaker 1: stuck a hole in the hat.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Could just see it. In her face. Would you look
- 15:48Speaker 4: up at the hat.
- 15:49Speaker 2: And she knew She looks directly down the barrel of
- 15:52Speaker 2: the legs and goes huh and then continues back on
- 15:56Speaker 2: with the class. And it was interesting, you know, to
- 16:00Speaker 2: watch to work with that filter on, you know, because
- 16:04Speaker 2: it's not an immediate class. It's sort of like a
- 16:06Speaker 2: game of telephone to receive classes.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Can we hear your reading, Franco, I'd love to.
- 16:14Speaker 8: I mean the waiter.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Wow, Well, now I kind of get a little typecast
- 16:20Speaker 1: as a waitress. Who has I usually noticed that the
- 16:23Speaker 1: calls they bring me in for it's the detectives at.
- 16:26Speaker 7: The late night getting a steak, So that steak.
- 16:28Speaker 1: But if this is the role they cast me in,
- 16:31Speaker 1: I know it's not in the morning.
- 16:33Speaker 7: It's kind of late night.
- 16:36Speaker 5: So your eye just completely went a different direction.
- 16:41Speaker 7: Yeah, you sound like my son. Okay, so.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Okay, So so my process would be how many hours
- 16:52Speaker 1: has she been on her feet?
- 16:53Speaker 5: Yes?
- 16:54Speaker 7: And when I.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Thank you, do not.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Enter process in the process going on?
- 17:07Speaker 7: Okay?
- 17:07Speaker 1: So okay, so uh.
- 17:15Speaker 5: So are you all right?
- 17:23Speaker 7: I'm I'm laying it.
- 17:25Speaker 5: After I've never seen somebody in body so much so.
- 17:28Speaker 7: If this was shooting day. Cut, I'm doing process.
- 17:32Speaker 1: If this is shooting day, I wake up in that
- 17:34Speaker 1: morning and I would tie bricks that I get from
- 17:38Speaker 1: my neighbors.
- 17:38Speaker 7: You are to my.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Feet, so I feel how many hours it's been that
- 17:44Speaker 1: I've been on my feet.
- 17:47Speaker 7: And I treat my kids. I treat kitchen like a.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Diner where I go, I go to my kids, I go,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you want to top off? So I get it in
- 17:54Speaker 1: the space. I get in the space of making the
- 17:57Speaker 1: coffee and going in and giving them the check. I
- 17:59Speaker 1: give the check to my son so many times for practice,
- 18:02Speaker 1: and he goes, Mom, stop giving me these checks, and
- 18:05Speaker 1: I go, of course, of course, I wouldn't.
- 18:07Speaker 7: Judge you, Sonny. So yeah, that's kind of the process.
- 18:12Speaker 5: So here.
- 18:13Speaker 1: So now I'm physically there, right. I can't do that
- 18:15Speaker 1: for you now, but physically I'm I'm really lacking because
- 18:19Speaker 1: I woke up this morning walking on bricks.
- 18:21Speaker 7: Okay, here we go action, here's your steak.
- 18:30Speaker 8: I'm shaking.
- 18:32Speaker 5: That was.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Wow.
- 18:36Speaker 5: That was a performance.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I mean when we talk about telling human stories, this
- 18:40Speaker 2: is what we're talking about.
- 18:41Speaker 4: I got chills over my whole body.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Because I go from the body and I tell you,
- 18:45Speaker 1: I couldn't have done that unless I really just.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Get my shot.
- 18:50Speaker 3: I guess I could feel the pressure that this woman
- 18:52Speaker 3: was under it.
- 18:53Speaker 7: I had a similar thing when I was in mayor
- 18:55Speaker 7: of East Town.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Kate Winslet orders the rack of rabs and I go,
- 18:59Speaker 1: here's your rib.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Wow?
- 19:01Speaker 5: Yeah, just like that, you just launched it. That's amazing.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I thank you, guys. I feel so wonderful to be
- 19:08Speaker 1: admired by my peers.
- 19:09Speaker 5: That's great.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Gosh, I guess I'm up to the plate, Hugh, Cowboys,
- 19:13Speaker 1: turn right here?
- 19:15Speaker 5: Baseball? Is that baseball?
- 19:16Speaker 4: Well, for me, it's dinner time.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Okay.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I'm okay, I'm gonna eat the whole thing.
- 19:22Speaker 5: So cut cut.
- 19:26Speaker 6: So I see it, and I'm and I'm so, I'm
- 19:28Speaker 6: in the outfit, right, And if I'm a whiter, they're
- 19:30Speaker 6: probably giving me something like a you know, a white
- 19:34Speaker 6: shirt and blue pants or something. And I'm I'm in
- 19:37Speaker 6: the outfit, and I go up, I got an apron on.
- 19:40Speaker 4: I see you. They got a steak. They say, hey,
- 19:41Speaker 4: bring this sake over and tell them it's a stake.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I think that's a steak. That's a man. He wanted
- 19:46Speaker 4: a steak. Action. Here's your steak.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Cut you know what. I loved it.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I really loved it, especially for somebody, you know, local
- 19:57Speaker 3: hire out of Albuquerque.
- 19:58Speaker 5: I thought it was really good.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Have you worked for now?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Have you worked for Aaron Sorkin? I have worked for
- 20:03Speaker 1: a fast with the dialogue.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I worked for Aaron Sorkin. Yeah, I was.
- 20:07Speaker 6: I was the He actually flew me out uh to Washington,
- 20:12Speaker 6: d C. I played a server who Philip Seymour Hoffman
- 20:16Speaker 6: slept in the face in Charlie Wilson's War and it
- 20:19Speaker 6: was really really.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I remember that scene that was fun to He must
- 20:23Speaker 3: have actually slapped you.
- 20:24Speaker 5: That looked improvised.
- 20:25Speaker 4: It slapped me.
- 20:26Speaker 1: That's a stunt rate as well, you'll be getting a
- 20:28Speaker 1: stunt bump.
- 20:29Speaker 4: I did not get a stunt bump. What's that?
- 20:32Speaker 7: You got slapped in the face. That's a stunt, honey,
- 20:34Speaker 7: a stunt bump.
- 20:36Speaker 5: What union are you part of?
- 20:37Speaker 4: Oh, I'm part of the I'm part of the Albuquerque
- 20:40Speaker 4: SAG A sag.
- 20:42Speaker 8: Interesting. Now, what makes a different we.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Call it saddle sag.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Do they get to skirt the rules of actual SAG
- 20:53Speaker 2: or well.
- 20:53Speaker 6: It just applies to the local unions in Albuquerque. Things
- 20:56Speaker 6: are different. You know, you get vouchers to go to
- 20:58Speaker 6: the casinos. You get free breakfast burritos at Frontier, a
- 21:03Speaker 6: lot of benefits.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Do you get insurance?
- 21:06Speaker 8: Oh, we do.
- 21:07Speaker 6: Sometimes we get we get we get sunburn insurance, and
- 21:11Speaker 6: we get dust mitigation.
- 21:13Speaker 1: You get all that stuff, But you don't get a
- 21:15Speaker 1: stunt covered.
- 21:17Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Maybe I did get the stunt bump, but I don't
- 21:20Speaker 6: remember the difference between the rates.
- 21:22Speaker 7: What's your ass AG number?
- 21:24Speaker 4: My ASSAG number, it's four from number four.
- 21:27Speaker 8: How many people are an ass.
- 21:29Speaker 4: I think there's two hundred three hundred. Now we're growing work.
- 21:33Speaker 6: I mean there's a lot of work coming out, but kirky,
- 21:36Speaker 6: So we're having a lot of fun. And I just
- 21:38Speaker 6: started recently, you know, I well, not recently recently.
- 21:41Speaker 4: I've been doing this. My show's twenty thirty years. But
- 21:46Speaker 4: I started it, you.
- 21:47Speaker 6: Know, after my my wife and I, you know, my
- 21:51Speaker 6: son moved out of the house.
- 21:52Speaker 4: He was an empty nester. My wife's I was an
- 21:54Speaker 4: empty nest.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Your son must he made to be an empty nester.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Okay, That's why I'm better say you the lines, because
- 22:01Speaker 6: sometimes I twist my tongue. I'm better at saying the
- 22:06Speaker 6: lines and saying my own words.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Sometimes I got to.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Ask you because you know, when you recounted your process,
- 22:13Speaker 2: you sort of just said the line what school.
- 22:16Speaker 8: Taught you to do?
- 22:17Speaker 4: That?
- 22:17Speaker 8: That was beautiful to just say the line, how many
- 22:21Speaker 8: techniques are here?
- 22:22Speaker 4: Been to no school?
- 22:22Speaker 6: I mean, like I said my wife, you know, I
- 22:24Speaker 6: was putting around the house, and my wife said, you
- 22:26Speaker 6: gotta do something. You gotta get out and do something.
- 22:30Speaker 6: So I was like, you know, I can sit around
- 22:32Speaker 6: all day. I can sit around all day at home
- 22:36Speaker 6: nagging on my wife, or I can sit around all
- 22:38Speaker 6: day on a movie set potentially get to meet Aaron Paul,
- 22:42Speaker 6: teach him how to you know, shoot a paintball gun
- 22:45Speaker 6: in the downtimes and stuff like that.
- 22:48Speaker 4: So that's kind of how I ended up getting into it.
- 22:50Speaker 8: I don't really, it's just sort of you just sort
- 22:52Speaker 8: of walked right in.
- 22:53Speaker 5: And just book.
- 22:57Speaker 4: I guess I just book. I guess people just like
- 22:58Speaker 4: me for me, and it's fun. You know, I like it.
- 23:01Speaker 4: I'm all I got. I ain't putting too much jail.
- 23:04Speaker 1: That's so interesting because you know your generation, little lady, Yes,
- 23:08Speaker 1: it feels like our generation. There's a lot of accidental bookings,
- 23:14Speaker 1: and it feels like your generation is it is all
- 23:17Speaker 1: about the book. It is like you guys are vultures.
- 23:21Speaker 1: You guys are nuts. You're on all different social media
- 23:25Speaker 1: site trying to get jobs. You guys are nuts.
- 23:27Speaker 8: Yes, well, I mean all due respect.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I mean you you guys don't know the hell that
- 23:34Speaker 2: is monologue Monday?
- 23:35Speaker 4: Yes?
- 23:35Speaker 2: Where on Facebook groups? You know, we have to post
- 23:38Speaker 2: hashtag monologue Monday.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Self audition Tuesday, self tape Tuesday, yes.
- 23:42Speaker 2: And self monologue thursdays.
- 23:46Speaker 7: Fuck me, what's Friday?
- 23:48Speaker 8: Friday is a free day.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Friday is free day, but you have to post free day.
- 23:51Speaker 3: So yeah, you kind of do a performance of what
- 23:53Speaker 3: you interpret your free day.
- 23:54Speaker 4: And what's that news?
- 23:55Speaker 6: So people you probably post something, you post a big video,
- 23:58Speaker 6: you're doing a really good self type and then you
- 23:59Speaker 6: get hit up by casting directors.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Usually I'm getting hit up by people that support Trump
- 24:07Speaker 3: and just comment used kind of my videos to use
- 24:10Speaker 3: it almost as a pulpit to go off on something.
- 24:14Speaker 5: Oh let's not go there. Let's uh.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I don't like him, okay, so wonderful to hear.
- 24:21Speaker 3: I don't as an actor, he raised prices for acting
- 24:25Speaker 3: and I didn't like that?
- 24:26Speaker 4: Okay, what else did you not like him?
- 24:29Speaker 7: When he raised the price to act?
- 24:32Speaker 4: Are there other things you'd like about him?
- 24:35Speaker 5: I'm telling you he raised the price of acting.
- 24:38Speaker 4: What way did he do that?
- 24:39Speaker 3: He raised Well, one he raised taxes and two he
- 24:42Speaker 3: went in and made classes more expensive.
- 24:45Speaker 7: He might not have done this with a sag because
- 24:47Speaker 7: he did it with sag.
- 24:48Speaker 5: He did it with sack.
- 24:49Speaker 3: He made a role that sagas to charge Like basically,
- 24:51Speaker 3: any class that's teaching sagas actors have to charge more. Really, yeah,
- 24:55Speaker 3: so my rate. That's what my acting coach, Linda Arnoff
- 24:59Speaker 3: told me. And you know classes now are like one thousand,
- 25:02Speaker 3: two thousand.
- 25:02Speaker 5: Dollars a month.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Wow.
- 25:04Speaker 3: But we're really learning and we're really diving deep into it,
- 25:07Speaker 3: you know.
- 25:08Speaker 5: So you guys want to hear the.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Read that got it, dying to hear the got the race?
- 25:16Speaker 5: Sure?
- 25:16Speaker 3: Sure, so Linda Arnoff a cut cut. Linda Arnoff's process is,
- 25:21Speaker 3: you know, one that goes deep into the soul.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Of the character.
- 25:24Speaker 3: It's all about the introspection, it's all about the work.
- 25:27Speaker 3: So when I see a line like do you want
- 25:28Speaker 3: your stake? I immediately think Albuquerque Drug addict, probably some
- 25:33Speaker 3: death recently.
- 25:34Speaker 5: And his father.
- 25:36Speaker 7: That's not fair.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I would say that that's what Linda teaches. Albuquoque equals
- 25:41Speaker 3: drug addict.
- 25:42Speaker 7: That's not fair.
- 25:42Speaker 5: And always, if.
- 25:43Speaker 4: You don't have to speak for Albuquerque.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Don't Linda does. I'm sorry.
- 25:47Speaker 7: I had a past lover live there and he was
- 25:49Speaker 7: a good man.
- 25:50Speaker 3: And I've been and I've been in Albuquerque's lovely. But
- 25:52Speaker 3: it's just the method Charlie took. So nobody else interrupted
- 25:55Speaker 3: anybody else's method. Nobody else interrupted anybody on Albuquerque.
- 26:01Speaker 1: You said, all people from albugery, and I saie.
- 26:07Speaker 3: I said, I said, Albuquerque on an audition equals drug addict.
- 26:12Speaker 2: This is such truth that's happening right now. I can't
- 26:15Speaker 2: get over it. This is fascinating.
- 26:17Speaker 3: And then she says, if you are a waiter that
- 26:19Speaker 3: doesn't ask a question, seems confident, somebody probably has died.
- 26:23Speaker 5: So in my head, I go to the soul of
- 26:25Speaker 5: this character. I'm I'm searching, I'm digging.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I'm sitting in front of a wall, staring in front
- 26:29Speaker 3: of it for two hours coming up with the backstory
- 26:32Speaker 3: of this character. And his name was Jim, his brother
- 26:36Speaker 3: and this is when we use ie statements, I'm jim.
- 26:39Speaker 3: My brother just died in Iraq, just died in Iraq.
- 26:44Speaker 5: So when I come to that stake action there's a stake.
- 26:55Speaker 7: I literally spit. I literally just spit on this.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Mic that booked it, tears pouring down my face.
- 27:03Speaker 4: You never know what an director's thinking, huh. You never
- 27:06Speaker 4: know what he's seeing. You never know what he's picking
- 27:08Speaker 4: up and saying.
- 27:09Speaker 3: That I loved it. And that's I'll tell you. Linda
- 27:12Speaker 3: makes you book. I've booked four things already and I'm
- 27:16Speaker 3: ready to book the fifth. You know you're ready, and
- 27:21Speaker 3: I'm emotionally present and I'm emotionally ready. And she always says,
- 27:25Speaker 3: don't act desperate, So I'm ready.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I got a question for you. Do you'll want more lines? Yes?
- 27:32Speaker 5: Yes, yes I would.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I really want more lines. I'd just like to be
- 27:41Speaker 2: vulnerable right now. Cut cut cut cut cut, because this
- 27:44Speaker 2: is processed. Yes, I desperately want more lines.
- 27:49Speaker 5: I'm right there with you, sister.
- 27:50Speaker 7: That's incredible.
- 27:51Speaker 5: Do you want to do a scene?
- 27:54Speaker 3: Not right now, but later we could do a scene,
- 27:57Speaker 3: get together a scene.
- 27:58Speaker 5: I would love to work with you. Yeah, I be
- 28:01Speaker 5: I would love to work with you.
- 28:02Speaker 8: You're such an artist. I would love to work you.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Seem like you've learned so much from those videos your
- 28:07Speaker 3: mom makes you watch. Yes, I would love to pick
- 28:09Speaker 3: your brain.
- 28:10Speaker 7: Watch they'll hook up after this.
- 28:14Speaker 4: I love.
- 28:15Speaker 5: There's something about your energy.
- 28:17Speaker 8: About your enerday will there's.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Something about your energy.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Something'stry starts with energy and scene study and two minutes there.
- 28:29Speaker 6: You're gonna stop saying that because I'm about to start picturing.
- 28:31Speaker 6: It's gonna be mad at me, gonna be.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Talk about it too much.
- 28:38Speaker 5: It's just what it is. Is. I feel like you
- 28:41Speaker 5: know what the truth is and you're going to bring
- 28:43Speaker 5: into every scene.
- 28:44Speaker 8: Yes, and I do feel that i'ming off of you.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Yes, we gotta grab coffee.
- 28:50Speaker 2: If we if we if we potentially got dinner and
- 28:52Speaker 2: picked each other's brains, what would happen is truth?
- 28:56Speaker 7: That would happen brains?
- 28:58Speaker 4: Oh, don't do that.
- 29:00Speaker 5: What did you do with my hands?
- 29:03Speaker 7: I made the motion for sex?
- 29:05Speaker 3: Oh wow, that's your truth, and that's your truth. And
- 29:09Speaker 3: that's fine, and that's what you're saying. But for some
- 29:11Speaker 3: of us, it's about the process and it's about the art.
- 29:15Speaker 8: Some of us are just working, you know, we're just working.
- 29:19Speaker 4: I'm working so much as exhausting.
- 29:21Speaker 7: Where did I lose you? Guys? I am also about
- 29:24Speaker 7: to work, and I am also about process.
- 29:26Speaker 5: We know art totally. It does feel like that.
- 29:29Speaker 3: It does.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Yeah, So what do y'all do outside of acting? What
- 29:32Speaker 4: do y'all like to do other than acting? I got
- 29:35Speaker 4: a couple of horses I have.
- 29:37Speaker 6: I'm part of the Elks Club, and I like to
- 29:40Speaker 6: go swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- 29:43Speaker 4: I got this really, really fun. I've started getting into
- 29:48Speaker 4: bouldering for for olders, of course, yeah, bouldering. We're calling
- 29:53Speaker 4: it oldering. So some young guys are bringing me out.
- 29:58Speaker 5: That sounds extremely bolderess bouldering. You have to fall from
- 30:04Speaker 5: ten or twenty feet?
- 30:05Speaker 6: No, no, you got to climb down. That's what we've got,
- 30:07Speaker 6: the big mats. We bring our mattresses out. We go
- 30:09Speaker 6: out into the sandy mountains.
- 30:11Speaker 8: Do you bring your mattresses to the mountains?
- 30:13Speaker 5: Yeah, you can do that.
- 30:13Speaker 4: In Albuquerque, Aaron's got a mask, so you're just falling off. Well,
- 30:16Speaker 4: sometimes we ain't falling too far. We can go up
- 30:18Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 30:21Speaker 7: Stunts.
- 30:22Speaker 5: You should that.
- 30:24Speaker 6: I can't join that Albuquerque Albuquerque stunt squad.
- 30:28Speaker 7: I don't have a lot of free time. I'm actually
- 30:30Speaker 7: I work a lot. Yeah, I work a lot.
- 30:36Speaker 8: I have a lot of free time.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I was just about to say, yeah, yeah, I have
- 30:41Speaker 2: a lot.
- 30:42Speaker 8: Of free time.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I have a collection of old year books from spanning
- 30:50Speaker 2: from you know, nineteen twenties to today.
- 30:53Speaker 7: Of your books of yours, no no.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Relation, no relation to anyone I know. And I just
- 30:59Speaker 2: pour over these and I think of all the women,
- 31:02Speaker 2: and every day I pick a different woman and I
- 31:04Speaker 2: try and tell her story.
- 31:06Speaker 5: That's beautiful, how do you know?
- 31:09Speaker 4: Really nice?
- 31:10Speaker 5: Who's who?
- 31:10Speaker 6: Woman?
- 31:11Speaker 5: Sorry? Can we have a cut moment? I want to
- 31:13Speaker 5: hear this process?
- 31:13Speaker 7: Yeah, me too, I really want to hear that.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Cut cut, cut, cut cut. So today's woman is Adrianna Marshall.
- 31:21Speaker 2: She was a student at Rodford Elementary in nineteen sixty four.
- 31:26Speaker 8: She was a sophomore in this she had braces.
- 31:29Speaker 7: When does truth end and creating begin?
- 31:32Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing. I feel like I am plagiarizing
- 31:35Speaker 2: from these women because I know their story so deeply
- 31:37Speaker 2: about that game.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Wow.
- 31:38Speaker 2: So I look at her, and I look at the
- 31:40Speaker 2: way that she's and I see something in her eyes.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I see that she doesn't want her picture to be
- 31:45Speaker 2: taken fully that she feels a little awkward, and so
- 31:48Speaker 2: I give her a little monologue and it goes something
- 31:52Speaker 2: like this, okay, action.
- 31:55Speaker 8: Mother, please please let me off this farm.
- 32:04Speaker 5: I wanna go. I wanna leave.
- 32:14Speaker 7: Your rent.
- 32:15Speaker 5: I love well.
- 32:18Speaker 2: My mother and I live together, not by out of choice,
- 32:21Speaker 2: but not by out of necessity. We just are very
- 32:23Speaker 2: wealthy and it's a choice and we that works for us.
- 32:26Speaker 7: You're really wealthy, Yet she won't make you both taking
- 32:29Speaker 7: it glass. She wears a go bro under a hat.
- 32:32Speaker 8: So where what we call selectively wealth?
- 32:37Speaker 2: So the money can be spent in certain places, but
- 32:40Speaker 2: it's not allowed to be spent in certain other places.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Like I want to talk about that, that little monologue.
- 32:46Speaker 4: We can go forward from that.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Oh yeah, sorry, it was beautiful.
- 32:49Speaker 4: That was amazing.
- 32:50Speaker 5: So what do you do?
- 32:51Speaker 4: What do you do? Who do you show it to?
- 32:53Speaker 3: Like?
- 32:53Speaker 4: What did you put it up? What's yeah?
- 32:55Speaker 8: I put that on Facebook?
- 32:56Speaker 2: I put that on monologue mondays, And then I do
- 33:02Speaker 2: get there's this woman who runs the Facebook group and
- 33:06Speaker 2: she will comment all the time, you know, like this
- 33:08Speaker 2: is incredible. You have to message me. You should take
- 33:12Speaker 2: my class. It's an online membership. It's about six hundred
- 33:15Speaker 2: dollars a year, but it's super worth it because you
- 33:17Speaker 2: get access to all these incredible minds of the Facebook
- 33:21Speaker 2: casting director's community. And I haven't taken her up on
- 33:24Speaker 2: it yet. I'm a little nervous.
- 33:25Speaker 8: I've impost her syndrome.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Got to take her up on that. You should definitely
- 33:30Speaker 3: get in that class, you think so. I think that's
- 33:31Speaker 3: a great idea. Just like what you said, that sounds
- 33:34Speaker 3: like you can make a lot of connections to casting
- 33:36Speaker 3: directors and other people.
- 33:38Speaker 2: You know.
- 33:38Speaker 5: It doesn't sound like a ripoff at all.
- 33:40Speaker 4: It works differently, okay, crime, I can't give advice on that.
- 33:43Speaker 6: Classes for me every time, you know, they don't they
- 33:46Speaker 6: offer acting classes, but you walk in there and these
- 33:49Speaker 6: guys are it's mostly.
- 33:51Speaker 4: It's mostly like.
- 33:53Speaker 6: Weird interpretive, you know, Santa Fe types coming in doing
- 33:56Speaker 6: artsy stuff.
- 33:57Speaker 4: And it doesn't work for TV and.
- 33:58Speaker 6: Movies because you got people coming in and that's half
- 34:01Speaker 6: the that's at the auditions you walk in and everyone's doing.
- 34:04Speaker 4: A little flower I'm on a little daisy little, you know,
- 34:07Speaker 4: all that kind of stuff.
- 34:08Speaker 8: We're doing more performance.
- 34:10Speaker 6: Art, a little archie, fartsy type, and you know that's
- 34:13Speaker 6: what we're not shooting Arcy fartsy in Albuquerque.
- 34:16Speaker 4: We're shooting transformers.
- 34:17Speaker 6: We're shooting, we're shooting breaking bad, We're shooting you know,
- 34:20Speaker 6: we're shooting.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Drug dealer gets caught up in the wrong kind of
- 34:24Speaker 4: business and then some guy goes, what was that? And
- 34:26Speaker 4: that's me a lot of the time. So that's kind
- 34:29Speaker 4: of different.
- 34:30Speaker 6: So I wouldn't do classes, but that's because the classes
- 34:32Speaker 6: for me would be bad.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I understand and go ahead, No, I would just love
- 34:38Speaker 2: to know from everyone, what is the one line role
- 34:43Speaker 2: that you want that like you're dying to play?
- 34:46Speaker 4: Like, what is that for me?
- 34:49Speaker 5: Army?
- 34:50Speaker 3: I want to be in army, military. I want to
- 34:52Speaker 3: be in active. You want army, I want army. I
- 34:55Speaker 3: would love to be a marine, and just say something.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Like action.
- 35:06Speaker 7: Where Mom, where's mom? Are you saying? Where's my type
- 35:11Speaker 7: of army?
- 35:12Speaker 5: Is this? It's a reaction that world.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Box that was really good.
- 35:22Speaker 5: Thank you that world. I was playing a co star
- 35:25Speaker 5: that had been blown up and was about to die.
- 35:28Speaker 5: I can't even talk about it.
- 35:29Speaker 4: That makes me emotional.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Because I think what I'm constantly looking for, I mean,
- 35:34Speaker 3: like my my day to day is the passion, the
- 35:37Speaker 3: grind and the work, you know, and those the things
- 35:41Speaker 3: I'm focusing on. I'm looking for opportunities to basically play
- 35:46Speaker 3: people emotional.
- 35:47Speaker 4: So you gotta do that, man.
- 35:48Speaker 6: I was in a scene in The Pacific, Tom Hanks's
- 35:52Speaker 6: miniseries Really Yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 4: I was in a scene they shot.
- 35:56Speaker 6: They shot Albuquerque for Guadalcanal, and it was really crazy stuff.
- 36:01Speaker 4: But I had one year. I said, I say, your excuse,
- 36:03Speaker 4: corporal wow for that? And it was was that a cut?
- 36:08Speaker 4: Or was that I'll say cut and I'll tell you
- 36:10Speaker 4: what so the process? No, that was just a cut.
- 36:12Speaker 4: So the so I so what I what I did is.
- 36:14Speaker 6: I walked in and saw to MA, I sayd excuse me,
- 36:16Speaker 6: it's Forrest Gump. I said all my favorite lines to him.
- 36:19Speaker 6: I said, I'm running, I said, I said, I pissed myself.
- 36:23Speaker 6: I said, like I said, Jenny, I said, I want
- 36:27Speaker 6: to know what love is, stuff all that kind of stuff.
- 36:29Speaker 6: And then he said we got to go. I said, okay,
- 36:31Speaker 6: he said action. I said, your excuse, corporal cut? Now
- 36:35Speaker 6: that was action, your excuse corporal action cut?
- 36:38Speaker 5: Wow. I'm confused, wow.
- 36:40Speaker 4: But that's what it was.
- 36:42Speaker 5: That's really great. I was really proud of you.
- 36:44Speaker 4: So I hope you get to do army. Army is
- 36:46Speaker 4: really fun.
- 36:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I know, I would love to do that.
- 36:48Speaker 7: I would like I'm dying to do animation.
- 36:53Speaker 4: I think you got a.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Voice for it, definitely.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Can we see a couple maybe of your ideas for characters,
- 36:58Speaker 3: like what if you had to play maybe you want
- 37:01Speaker 3: to top off?
- 37:03Speaker 4: Okay?
- 37:03Speaker 8: Okay, so an animated waiter.
- 37:05Speaker 7: Do you guys want your bill?
- 37:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 37:07Speaker 7: No, I don't want to know. I couldn't do anything.
- 37:10Speaker 4: You could be some kind of anable waiter.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Oh, that'd be so fun, like in Madagascar and be like,
- 37:18Speaker 1: here's your leaves, you want to bamboo?
- 37:22Speaker 7: Top off? See, I got creative there, and I never
- 37:26Speaker 7: get creative.
- 37:29Speaker 4: How do you feel and after you got creative?
- 37:32Speaker 7: I feel I feel like my my nipples are hard.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Okay, okay, I gotta say that. That's exactly how I
- 37:41Speaker 5: feel most of the time.
- 37:42Speaker 8: I'm wow, that's how and I felt that from you.
- 37:45Speaker 7: It feels so good to be around young people.
- 37:47Speaker 3: I'm telling you, man, it's your you can like for
- 37:50Speaker 3: me a telltale sign of you being in the moment
- 37:52Speaker 3: and feeling the emotion hard nipples, hard nipples, the hardest
- 37:56Speaker 3: you can get them.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I did take one acting class once I took. I
- 38:02Speaker 1: took Lady Gaga does a master class.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Now. She's so funny with all her stuff she does.
- 38:10Speaker 5: She is so funny. I find her so funny.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Funny.
- 38:13Speaker 7: Oh, I forgot to say what I do in my
- 38:14Speaker 7: spare time.
- 38:15Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I love to know about your life.
- 38:17Speaker 7: I run the Reddit page.
- 38:21Speaker 5: I run just all of Reddit.
- 38:22Speaker 7: No, I work it Reddit.
- 38:25Speaker 2: You work at Reddit?
- 38:29Speaker 5: What do you do for Reddit?
- 38:30Speaker 7: Because I like freelance stuff.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Freelance? What kind of freelance?
- 38:33Speaker 8: Kind of like web design or No?
- 38:36Speaker 7: I impute. I input information.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Sometimes there'll be pages where there's not a lot going on,
- 38:43Speaker 1: and they'll pay me a fee.
- 38:44Speaker 7: I've done this since I was twenty. It was it
- 38:46Speaker 7: was my day job when I couldn't.
- 38:48Speaker 5: You go to kind of empty subreddits and comment.
- 38:50Speaker 7: And I fill them in.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Like last night there was the Buffalo wild Wing subreddit
- 38:55Speaker 1: and it was a dead empty and I just.
- 38:58Speaker 7: Went in there.
- 38:58Speaker 5: Why does Reddit want people to be commenting on a
- 39:01Speaker 5: dead sub.
- 39:02Speaker 7: I just want they want more more claques.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Oh okay, yeah, that sounds like a great job. It's
- 39:08Speaker 5: a great side.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Huse you do. Might as well be speaking Chinese right now.
- 39:11Speaker 4: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 39:12Speaker 7: Okay, I have a question for the dam dream role.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Of all time, dream film, dream story, dream director, or anything.
- 39:21Speaker 7: Tell me your dreams.
- 39:23Speaker 5: Wow, that's heavy. That's actually a lot to think about
- 39:26Speaker 5: for her, that's really big.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Linda, my acting coach, says, I would never probably make
- 39:32Speaker 3: it that far.
- 39:33Speaker 5: But wow, so yeah, maybe come back to me. So cruel. No,
- 39:39Speaker 5: it's good, it's good.
- 39:40Speaker 2: That's so deeply cruel. I'm so sorry.
- 39:42Speaker 5: No, it's not cruel, it's truth.
- 39:43Speaker 7: I don't like your acting.
- 39:45Speaker 3: No, she's great, she really really, because what she does
- 39:48Speaker 3: is she regurgitates your own trauma.
- 39:51Speaker 5: So she'll be yelling at you. What did what happened?
- 39:54Speaker 5: What's the truth here? What did your dad actually say?
- 39:58Speaker 3: And I would say, well in the scene, and she goes, no,
- 40:00Speaker 3: shut the funk up, you imbecile, you tiny little squirmy boy.
- 40:05Speaker 7: What did you have your hands on?
- 40:07Speaker 4: Your hands on you?
- 40:07Speaker 5: It's her signature, Linda forehead.
- 40:09Speaker 3: She grabs your forehead with you and they're pinky, and
- 40:13Speaker 3: she just presses against you and goes, look at me,
- 40:16Speaker 3: and you just start crying.
- 40:19Speaker 7: And so you're paying even more so. Trump raised the
- 40:22Speaker 7: price of that class.
- 40:23Speaker 3: The worst that Trump could do that he's a bad guy,
- 40:26Speaker 3: raising the I abhor the man.
- 40:31Speaker 5: I'm not got to grab coffee.
- 40:33Speaker 8: We've got to pick each other's brain.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Because if you don't like Trump and I don't like Trump,
- 40:38Speaker 3: I feel like we can talk about that because that's like.
- 40:40Speaker 8: Such a unique thing that we don't. You don't see
- 40:43Speaker 8: that all the time.
- 40:44Speaker 7: It's refreshing.
- 40:47Speaker 8: That's like that hacksh I'm picturing it exactly.
- 40:52Speaker 5: Has, which I find so funny.
- 40:54Speaker 2: I'd love to talk about hacks.
- 40:55Speaker 4: You guys.
- 40:59Speaker 5: Seem I wouldn't love.
- 41:02Speaker 8: I want to be eBinder.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Oh that's great. I'll play Jean Smart.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Stacey's going to make me sleep on the couch tonight.
- 41:08Speaker 7: Could you imagine these du trying to thinking about it?
- 41:14Speaker 2: I dreams so I things that I dream about, you know.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I I've always wanted to play sort of. I want
- 41:28Speaker 2: to play like a princess. I'll be honest, like that's
- 41:32Speaker 2: something I wanted to do as a little kid, and
- 41:34Speaker 2: now I want to be a princess.
- 41:36Speaker 8: I think that's amazing.
- 41:37Speaker 2: But the problem is, I was watching one of my
- 41:40Speaker 2: mom's classes that she took home, and Leslie Khan told
- 41:44Speaker 2: my mom that she her age range is probably like
- 41:48Speaker 2: forty and above. And so I really took that lesson
- 41:51Speaker 2: to heart, and so I understand that I can't now
- 41:54Speaker 2: that's great, but Leslie Khan said it. Now you look
- 41:59Speaker 2: like you have to be onto the camera, as she said,
- 42:02Speaker 2: you are too old to play a princess.
- 42:04Speaker 7: So she looked at a big top hat that your
- 42:06Speaker 7: mother was wearing with a hole in it.
- 42:08Speaker 5: Can I ask how old you are?
- 42:11Speaker 2: I'm twenty five?
- 42:12Speaker 5: Okay, great?
- 42:13Speaker 7: How old are you?
- 42:13Speaker 5: I'm twenty four?
- 42:15Speaker 8: Wow, that's so refreshing to hear.
- 42:17Speaker 5: That's crazy. You barely ever meet any toy like we're old.
- 42:21Speaker 7: We're old, we're literally ancient.
- 42:24Speaker 8: Just so, so why are you covering your ears?
- 42:27Speaker 7: He's imagining you too, having sex.
- 42:30Speaker 4: I can't do it. If I hear any more, y'all
- 42:32Speaker 4: connect him. I swear to Gosh, I swear to gosh
- 42:37Speaker 4: this Stacey is gonna be so mad at me.
- 42:39Speaker 6: She's gonna cook me cold eggs for three weeks every
- 42:43Speaker 6: time she does.
- 42:45Speaker 5: I can't see this happened before all the time.
- 42:48Speaker 4: If she catches when that, I think about six she.
- 42:50Speaker 7: Makes the eggs, she puts it in the bridge to
- 42:53Speaker 7: get it called.
- 42:54Speaker 4: She says, you won't kind of like? She said, I'm
- 42:56Speaker 4: gonna make you some eggs today. What kind of you like?
- 42:58Speaker 4: I always tell her, and she goes, great, they're ready.
- 43:00Speaker 4: They've been in the fridge for three hours.
- 43:02Speaker 5: She always knows.
- 43:03Speaker 4: She me, it's never mean, but it's not nice, and
- 43:06Speaker 4: it's his message.
- 43:08Speaker 7: And it's okay, okay, what's your dream son?
- 43:11Speaker 6: Well, I want my son to move back home, and
- 43:13Speaker 6: I want him to move nearby with his wife and
- 43:16Speaker 6: his kid. You know, I want to play with them
- 43:18Speaker 6: a little bit more, and I want me and Stacy
- 43:21Speaker 6: to Actually, I just bought an airstream because, Uh, I
- 43:24Speaker 6: booked a role on I booked a role on this
- 43:29Speaker 6: this show. Uh they're they're doing this really exciting show
- 43:34Speaker 6: with Timothy Oliphant.
- 43:36Speaker 5: Jesus and it's really fun so much.
- 43:38Speaker 4: They booked me and.
- 43:39Speaker 6: Then they gave me this big advance for it because
- 43:42Speaker 6: I I sa I was up for some of all
- 43:43Speaker 6: these other roles or whatever, and they needed me, which
- 43:46Speaker 6: is so flattering, so nice.
- 43:48Speaker 5: So they were.
- 43:50Speaker 7: War with with that today. Yeah, I don't know.
- 43:54Speaker 4: I don't know how all that stuff worts. I just
- 43:55Speaker 4: get a bunch of emails. I ain't got no reps
- 43:57Speaker 4: or nothing, So I get.
- 43:58Speaker 5: A bunch of emails. They just go straight to Yeah.
- 44:00Speaker 2: I mean, I ain't got you're facilitating a bidding war
- 44:02Speaker 2: by yourself.
- 44:03Speaker 7: Is it a sag?
- 44:05Speaker 4: It's on Yeah, it's on the saddlesag. It's on a sag. Yeah,
- 44:08Speaker 4: it comes to me.
- 44:09Speaker 6: And then I gotta figure out which emails And you know,
- 44:11Speaker 6: I'm I ain't even I'm behind all that stuff. So
- 44:14Speaker 6: I'm going through my SBC globe with dot net account
- 44:16Speaker 6: trying to figure.
- 44:17Speaker 4: Out, Oh, do I do this? Do I do this
- 44:20Speaker 4: movie with this actor? Do I do this show?
- 44:22Speaker 6: Anyways, I'm hoping to do enough stuff to buy an
- 44:24Speaker 6: airstream with Stacey and then we can travel the country
- 44:27Speaker 6: and I can see Mount Rushmore for the first time
- 44:30Speaker 6: because I just love what people.
- 44:31Speaker 4: Do with rocks.
- 44:33Speaker 7: That's it's like a monolog.
- 44:36Speaker 5: I haven't gotten to work email in probably three or
- 44:39Speaker 5: four months.
- 44:41Speaker 1: All I do is get emails, Reddit going put something
- 44:44Speaker 1: on the bed bath and beyond sub Reddit put something
- 44:47Speaker 1: on what I do with broken light bulbs?
- 44:50Speaker 7: So I'm Reddit and I go Jesus Christ, guys, stop
- 44:53Speaker 7: emailing me. I'm on set with Timoshit Shallow May.
- 44:57Speaker 2: My manager just became a real estate agent, so.
- 45:02Speaker 8: That's where I'm at.
- 45:05Speaker 5: Yeah, she said she.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Could still do me on the side too, but she's
- 45:09Speaker 2: going to be mostly homes.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I'm really if you guys have any openings
- 45:13Speaker 3: and if I could take a meeting with them, that'd
- 45:15Speaker 3: be great because I've been doing the casting director grind
- 45:18Speaker 3: for about four years now trying to get signed.
- 45:21Speaker 4: So yeah, hey, I got a question. Y'all ever actually
- 45:24Speaker 4: been waiters?
- 45:26Speaker 1: This has been artists on artists on artists on artists,
- 45:28Speaker 1: answering the question. Now, that's why they call it showbiz.
